Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad - Garibaldi Station

Old-fashioned steam locomotive offering riders a trip along the Oregon coast & scenic views.
We were so happy to do this! We all road in the covered but outside car and it was great! There were 9 of us in our party and we all sat comfortably together. The train offers drinks and snacks but let's your bring your own (super nice). It's very selcenic and a wonderful tour guide gives you a ton of info. It was amazing how much info he gave to us about the area.
Jocelyn O — Google review
This was a great experience. The scenery is beautiful and it was easy to book well in advance, which we did since it was part of a vacation. You can take the train from either Rockaway Beach or Garibaldi and return right away or choose a later return if you prefer to walk around and explore. Nice and informative crew on board. Highly recommend!
Denise A — Google review
September 2025 - Late in the season and the train was fairly empty, thus seating was anywhere you wanted and you could move from antique car to antique car as you desired. We saw the Three Graces, the Twin Rocks with Tunnel, and much more as we rode from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach and back. The ride is not fast, about 15 MPH and someone bouncy, but it is decent and should be on your 'to do' list if you are anywhere near Astoria or Lincoln City on US-101.
Bill M — Google review
The staff was wonderful. All very friendly and very helpful. The food was good but it would have been great if it would have been hot. They had two options: chicken and steak. They served everyone who had chicken first, so by the time I received my steak my son was done eating. I realize that it is a challenge to serve food under the conditions of a moving swaying train and so many people, however it seems like there should be some way to keep the food hot and serve in a timely manner. Overall it was a fun trip and a great staff.
Joyce P — Google review
If you are into trains, then this is a must do trip. I love trains and this is a good ole fashioned steam loco with a old dining care and passenger car. The funny thing is you can train fans from people there to see the sights... Train folk ride in the cars for the experience, while tourist wanting to see the coast from a unique vantage ride up front in open cars. Excellent way to spend the day.
Paul W — Google review
Weather just barely agreed with us! Seats were comfy. Sadly the views on the right side of the train were not as good as the left. But we still had a blast!! Will pay for the food ahead next time as it is cheaper and gets delivered.
Lisa G — Google review
Amazing Steam train that runs right on the coast. The inside cars are very nice and the outside cars make for a great way to see the sights. We took the trip all the way to Wheeler for the first time and it was a nice long ride. My son is a train nut and he loved it.
Michael D — Google review
What a wonderful experience on the Oregon coast. The only reason for 4/5 and not 5 is the commentary. I greatly enjoyed it, but wished it was only one way. The speakers were nice and loud for those who may have a harder time hearing but so loud it was difficult to have conversations. Definitely a must do trip! Tip: you will want to have a longer stretch between stops.

Tillamook Air Museum

Aircraft collection in a World War II blimp hangar, one of the world's largest wooden buildings.
Our family loved this museum! Lots of planes to explore. Highlights included walking through the TWA plane segment from the 70s, the F14, and being able to go inside the planes, especially for my kids. We also loved the plane outside. Very cool place to visit.
Brittany G — Google review
I’m not sure words can describe how awe-inspiring this museum is! Driving up you are immediately hit with the sheer size of the hangar itself. Walking inside only reaffirms how small you are compared to the structure. There is an incredible variety of equipment inside the hanger. There are model cockpits you can sit in to feel exactly what a pilot feels. Not all of it is military aircraft either, with a few throwbacks to passenger planes. Beyond the aircraft there are also some old tractors and locomotives that were once used at the hanger. The videos and VR experiences also serve to immerse you in the history of the hanger. Finally there are some great models and recreations of historical events. There is even a great telling of women in the holocaust. I am incredibly happy we stopped in and will definitely be back if we are in the area again!
Jonathan C — Google review
Using a WWII Era blimp hanger for an air museum is brilliant. All aircraft are inside but one. There are side exhibits, mostly centered on WWII. One of the Tomcats used in Top Gun is here. Several aircraft you can view the inside of the cockpits. Admission price is reasonable and the is a snack bar and gift shop. I easily spent more than two hours here.
Shelly O — Google review
We had SO much fun! Spent over two hours looking at all the exhibits. There was also a little play place which the toddler loved. 10/10, we loved it!
Mariah M — Google review
Tillamook Air Museum was absolutely fabulous! My entire family loved it! Even my son who doesn't like anything! Lol. I would highly suggest seeing this place. They have added way more plane cockpits and stuff. They had models depicting every battle of WW2. Very cool wood carvings. You get to sit in the cockpit of .any planes.
Jeremy M — Google review
What a hidden Gem!!!! Out of everything there they had to look at. The coolest thing is something they need to focus more on. The building itself. The sheer size of it is astounding. It’s hard to imagine it holding blimps. Which I hope one day they can find a way to highlight that better. The cars and planes etc are what ever. You can see those at any museum. The building itself was just majestic. I wish we could walk all around the outside and see it better. They have a great simulator area for kids to sit in. Even a tots baby area too. I loved the hand made models of ships and subs and the battle scenes for WWII. Our kid loved it. Right at eye level but in a format he could understand and see. This place doesn’t show up as an attraction. Which is sad because it’s so close to the crowded creamery near by. This place is by far a hidden wonder.
J R — Google review
Tillamook Air Museum, Where History Smells Like Engine Oil and Bravery Listen, if you ever wanted to walk straight into a love letter to the USAAF, this is it. Hangar B isn’t just big, it’s biblical. You could park a small grocery store in there and still have room for the P-38s to stretch their wings. The air smells like cedar, oil, and American grit. I swear, you can almost hear the echoes of flight crews swapping tall tales. The staff are friendly, the planes are stunning, and you’ll leave feeling a little taller just for standing in the same space those heroes once did. Bring comfy shoes, a camera, and maybe tissues, it’s that good. Oh, and a jacket, it's wood, it's old, it doesn't get very warm.
Lynnette C — Google review
There is an education in this building. Its huge and a great walk through of navel ships and the war in the Pacific. You see aircraft and how they were used in the film making industry, the process of making Thrust from a turbine engine is amusing. Look for that if you go. An F18 Tomcat loke the one used in the movie Top Gun is on display

Tillamook Forest Center

Forests
This is an excellent short day-hike experience. $5 suggested donation, no parking fee. Main building is a museum (museum is good for kids) along with a very nice viewing bridge and a fire-watch tower (you can climb the stairs to the top of the tower). Short trail on the building-side of the river, two trails immediately on the far-side of the bridge (the trail on the left has a waterfall a few miles in - the one on the right has picnic tables if you can cross a small-ish stream). Trails can be very wet and narrow, so plan accordingly. No cell service, no restaurant on-site (gift-shop only). Some parts of the trails were closed due to active-logging. This will be a good morning-hike visit, but only for one day (there's not much reason to re-visit).
Adam C — Google review
Stopped here in between a few waterfalls. There is no service at all, so be sure to download your maps if you don't know where you are going!! There is a nice little gift shop here, but it does not make sense why they wouldn't have drinks or snacks for sale there. One of my favorite things about this forest center, though, was the fact that there is so much information on Tillamook here and a cool little watchtower showing its history that you were able to go into.
Tony A — Google review
I had great experience learning about the Tillamook Forest with a nice hike on the Wilson River. The Center has exhibits on early pioneer life, logging in the forest, the Tillamook Burn, a suspension bridge, a fire lookout tower, and much more. It was interesting to learn the salvage operations, and replanting of the forest after the Tillamook Burn. You will find a number of hiking trails that take you through the forest and along the Wilson River. Located about 22 miles from Tillamook on Highway 6. A nice place to learn the history of the Tillamook Forest, climb a fire lookout tower, and hike in a forest.
Ed L — Google review
Such an incredible forest center and worth the stop when you are traveling on highway six. It is great for people of all ages and very accessible for both the very young and the very old. So much information you could easily spend a full day just at the visitor center learning all about the history of the forest and fire watching as well as beautiful hikes along the river and crossing the beautiful viewing bridge. There is also a fabulous watchtower that you can climb and get the experience of what it was like to work in a watchtower. We had a great time at this event center and only wish we had planned a bit more in advance to spend more time there. It would be nice to have a lunch or a beverage stop and also be prepared for no Cell service. Really great staff a very sweet little shop and good way finding signage to navigate the center. Highly recommend!
Maren S — Google review
Add this stop- visit here!! We added this stop on a trip from Portland to the coast and we are glad we did! It was really educational. The gift shop was cute and affordable. The bathrooms were clean. There was a tower the climb a great bridge and many were having a great time floating on the river. The staff were great here too. So welcome and gave plenty of info. We met some Campers there- we were in and out but if we were camping , we would Certainly put this high on our list!!
J_ — Google review
Such a fun and informative forestry center! We stopped by on the way to the coast. There is a museum full of historical items and information. The bathrooms are clean and spacious. There is a tower outside you can walk up and there is a beautiful bridge that leads to trails and the river. Don't forget to stop in the gift shop. We bought a cute stuffed banana slug and the employee sang a funny song about banana slugs!
Beth B — Google review
Sadly we visited on a Tuesday when the centre was closed, but the toilets were still open, and the river was beautiful.
Georgia H — Google review
This is a great place with lots of forest history facts lots of pictures and artifacts from back in the day. The trails and exhibits are well done, and the fire tower is approximately 50 Ft tall and set up like it would be for fire watchers. If you like Oregon forest history then this should very worth your visit..

We had such a great time. We ate at the Mountain view and it was amazing! The prime rib was perfect. Our server Jordan, was the best. He was friendly and made sure we had every thing to make our visit perfect. Jordan is an asset to Spirit Mountain. He is exactly what a server should be. We even won a few hundred bucks after dinner! Best date night we've had in a long time!

Most amazing experience. So much fun, many machines to choose from! I won a nice amount of money! Stayed in the hotel as well. Very nice rooms, although the front desk service was not friendly, at check in or check out! The dining restaurant has very delicious food, good pricing and plenty of seating a available. Overall, this was a very good experience. I will definitely return in the future

I went for the PNW tattoo convention. I have to say parkung was a bit confusing at first but it was alright. The place is very clean and beautiful, the scenery was amazing. I went to go eat, i would have lived to go to the buffet but to be honest the prices were a bit unreasonable for my taste. But i did go to the Jalapeño place and I liked that. Prices there are very reasonable and you get the bang for you buck. I ordered the chips and queso, I shared it with three people for less then 10 dollars, we had these smash burgers that were great and those were about 12 each. I then later had the chicken tenders and fries, that was 14 but they were huge. The live entertainment was amazing and extremely personable, I would love to stop by just to listen to them play.

Had a great night at the casino! The SeaFest Buffett was underrated. Crab was delicious!! Spendy, but worth it all.

Oh hey... how's things there in oregon? Sure had a real nice visit with another native chickadee girlieee last time I rolled through Oregon tribal territory. I am and have been all about investing in what you have going on there with that whole gaming commission set up. I was all over that from day one... just purchasing the country back one dollar at a time. Yeah... I invested. Oh hey do you ever get any old Indian war head pennies? The real old pennies, you know... from before the wheat pennies? I love those pennies the most. One day maybe I'll tell you all about this one war penny I floated out there from an interesting location. 5 on it. oh anyhow I just wanted to reach out and say hello to that one girlie i wound up actually shacking up with for a few... cool huh? well... almost... except she had a bullet in her leg and we were hostages. Yeah that part sucked. it sucked a lot. Ya'll ever get her back? Tell her Heather said hi. might cruise through...
Heather S — Google review
Wonderful experience here. Good vibe and stylish design of casino floor. Sports watch/bet section is cool, can just be a little loud if people are top golfing. Great food options and all the employees were terrific! Look forward to staying in the hotel at some point.
Joshua A — Google review
Went for my 21st had a blast stayed at the hotel it's was an okay room found toenails on the floor looked like they didn't even vacuum and definitely going again to the casino.

Good pitstop on my way back from the coast. Craps is fun and the dealers will teach you or sometimes a regular will take you under their wing. Probably worth it to sign up for the promotions if you like to visit regularly. Check out their website for when to go depending on what you like to pay for the best deals as they change and the promo have sometimes many MANY steps to activate so read the rules in full so you know what to do.

We had a wonderful day at Tree to Tree Adventure Park! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcomed and supported. Everyone was incredibly nice, professional, and genuinely attentive to our safety throughout the entire experience. Their clear instructions and positive energy made the adventure both exciting and reassuring. Huge shoutout to the entire team who worked on July 20th,you were all amazing! Thank you for making our day so fun and memorable. We can’t wait to come back!

We had a wonderful experience. We had 2 hosts and they were great! They explained everything, thorough, safe and kept us moving and having fun. We enjoyed the longest and fastest zip line the most. I also appreciated that they had cute apparel for sale at the Welcome Center.
Sarah B — Google review
Booking is required in advance… my two daughters had fun and great time in the zip line and rock climbing over the tree. The place is very nice and friendly staff. Perfect place for families and friends
MOHAMED H — Google review
This was so fun! The courses are various levels of difficulty that kept us engaged and challenged. I felt safe with the gear, the course was in good repair and well thought out. We considered buying the Zipline package but glad we didn't, as the regular course had a dozen smaller ziplines. I couldn't believe we climbed around in the trees for three hours; we'd definitely go again!
Krystal A — Google review
Great experience! The kids had a blast. Great instructors, lots of opportunity to explore and gain confidence. I will be getting my own ticket next time!
Kisa H — Google review
We ended up going to Portland on a birthday trip with some friends, so we made an appointment a few months prior. We then realized there was going to be an atmospheric river but they told me they don’t do refunds, only reschedules which sucked since this is a one time trip. We decided to just do it and risk it. Thankfully it wasn’t super rainy and we had a great time. We purchased a zip line package with two other activities, but towards the end of the Zipline tour it started showering hella hard. My group and I had fun ziplining and due to the heavy rain we decided to just call it a day and pass on the other activities. I informed the front desk and they were happy enough to refund me the rest of the money or provide us with some nice merch. Overall, we’re glad we came since the Zipline tour guides were awesome - professional, organized, knowledgeable and super friendly. They made the experience worth it! I plan to one day return during the summer and bring my kids.
Servando P — Google review
Awesome place! Would highly recommend the zip tour and the bridge in the air was neat too. Tabitha and Justin were very sweet, friendly, patient, and welcoming. The views were beautiful and speed of the zipline was perfect. We felt safe the entire time. If we lived in this area we would go back again.
Marissa D — Google review
My four adult kids agreed to come with me to the Zipline and obstacle course to celebrate my 64th bday. While I think they mainly went to make me happy, we all ended up having an amazing time, and they couldn't stop talking about the experience on the 2.5 hour trip home. The guides were patient, funny and respectful. The courses were organized and well run. This is the second Tree to tree adventure I have been on, the first was in NJ. Now the Idaho park is on the bucket list. Thank you for helping us make some great family memories.

Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum

Mentioned on

Museum
Event venue
Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville is a popular attraction known for its unique features, including the world's largest historic aircraft. The museum offers an educational and inspirational experience, showcasing the history of aviation and space travel. Visitors can explore various displays that highlight human achievements in mathematics, sciences, and the spirit of exploration. The museum also provides guided tours and engaging programs for enthusiasts of all ages. Additionally, it houses a water park and 3D theater for added entertainment.
If you love aviation you will love this place. Two huge buildings packed with aircraft that span the history of aviation. More are located outside around the grounds. You can get up close to most of them. Walk around them. Peer into windows and cargo bays. All have informative displays. Have a question? Docents are everywhere. Or ask the Vet standing next to you. Go at your own pace or join a guided tour. I spent a day here and had a great time. Very clean. Spacious. And, of course, Spruce Goose. That alone is worth the visit.
Michael S — Google review
Very well done flight museum! Definitely rivals the one in DC. Fantastic collection including the Spruce Goose, SR-71, F117, F-14, F-15, and many many more. We took 2-1/2 hours but felt slightly rushed to see everything. I recommend reserving a tour if you want to see the whole Goose, otherwise you just get to see the main level from the platform. My only critique is about half of the kids displays were out of order. I know it's a funding issue, but it's what allows the little breaks for the kids so the adults can experience the main points the museum has to offer.
Ryan Y — Google review
I went about an hour before closing and it was more than enough time to see both the aviation and space museum. The tour guides were helpful and they will help you free of charge. It’s well kept as well and really cool. Plenty of parking and it’s a good walk between the two museums. Definitely recommend! Don’t go when there’s an air show across the street tho it added a couple hours to my trip lol.
Olivia G — Google review
We had the best time ever. All of the staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful and we learned a ton! The biggest shout out to the volunteer Sylvia, who went out of her way to ensure my kids had a blast. I highly recommend to any and all ages, you will leave knowing more about aviation than when you arrived.
Olivia P — Google review
One of my favorite museums I’ve visited. The goose was huge, every plane has interesting information about it, including how it was sourced which I found interesting. The info was very well curated and topical, with relevant ties to oregon when topical. Lots of friendly staff/volunteers around. The blackbird was also very cool to see. I would say 2 hours for the air section and 2 hours for the space section if you want to read everything. But could probably see everything in an hour if youre just peeking around and not reading much. Highly recommend though!
Alan C — Google review
If you’re an aviation lover, this place is literally meant for you. Also, if you even have to ask or think about going to this place, they have the freaking spruce goose on display. It’s crazy to see how massive it is in person. Also, in the other building, they have an SR 71, F117 nighthawk and so many other cool planes on display. As an adult, I was a child admiring history, aviation, and so many cool airplanes all around. I highly highly recommend going out to this facility.
Eric C — Google review
A nice afternoon with a really impressive collection of aircraft and memorabilia. There are tours of the inside of the Spruce goose which is actually made of birch but those are timed so that takes a little planning but if you are ok just seeing the rest it’s really a wonderful few hours! Play structure for the grand boy, theatre for 3D movies and flight sims for people e with a hardy constitution 😃
Beth F — Google review
Always an amazing time walking through the aviation and space history! The volunteers are kind and interestes! They are knowledgeable and want to share stories! Such an amazing place and I hope that the nearby hotel will bring even more people to the museums!

Upscale winery & tasting room serving award-winning Pinot Noir & Chardonnay.
Unforgettable Experience at Domaine Serene Our visit to Domaine Serene was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were immersed in an atmosphere of elegance, knowledge, and world class hospitality. Michael guided our tasting, and he was absolutely exquisite. His deep knowledge of the wines, vineyards, and terroir was impressive, he asked the right questions and tailored our tasting experience perfectly. It was fascinating to learn about how the soil and climate influence the grapes, something I had never fully appreciated before. The winery itself is breathtaking. Nestled in the rolling hills of Oregon, Domaine Serene offers stunning views that stretch for miles. The limestone tasting rooms add a unique, almost ethereal ambiance, making the experience feel even more special. And knowing that they have a sister vineyard in France only adds to the prestige and craftsmanship behind their wines. Every wine we tasted was exceptional, rich, complex, and beautifully balanced. Joining their wine club was an easy decision, as it offers more benefits than any other I’ve encountered. Plus, the food pairings were spot on. We indulged in oysters, a beautifully curated charcuterie board, and artisan breads, all of which elevated our tasting experience even further. I truly can’t say enough great things about Domaine Serene. Whether you’re a seasoned wine enthusiast or just beginning to explore the world of wine, this is an experience you won’t want to miss. I highly encourage everyone to visit—you’ll be captivated from the first sip to the last.

This winery is absolutely amazing. The moment you arrive, it feels like you’ve stepped into another country like Italy. Even just walking around the property is a breathtaking experience. The views are stunning, and the atmosphere is so peaceful and welcoming. The service is incredibly professional you can tell everyone here truly knows and loves what they do. The staff makes you feel cared for from the moment you arrive. The grounds are expansive, with plenty of quiet, private spots where you can relax, enjoy a glass of wine, and take in the beauty around you. Rolling hills, vibrant nature, and peaceful scenery surround you at every turn. I didn’t want to leave. I’d love to come back and stay longer next time. Thank you for creating such an incredible place it’s a truly unforgettable experience. ♥️❤️‍🔥🥰

Domaine Serene was our final stop of the day after visiting Domaine Drouhin and Soter wineries. It’s located off the same street as Drouhin, so the vibe is similar, but I preferred this property over its neighbor, though it ranks below Soter. Like many large estate wineries, the atmosphere felt a bit cold and robotic. However, our server, Sean, deserves praise. When we mentioned we were tired of whites, he switched up our tasting on the spot and even arranged two side-by-side comparisons, elevating the experience far beyond the standard estate tasting. The wines are quite expensive—likely requiring a higher tax bracket to consider purchasing—but the tasting provided a solid sample that showcased their quality. If we had stuck with the standard tasting, I’d rate this place a solid 4 for its nice wines, beautiful property, and steep tasting fee. But Sean’s flexibility, attention to our preferences, and thoughtful comparisons between vineyards and vintages made the experience elevated, bumping it up to a 5 in my book.

Made a reservation for this winery because of the known wine, views, and local farms to source for their charcuterie and cheese boards. When we arrived, we were greeted with a splash of brut and then had a table outside on the patio. While I was in the bathroom, the waiter dropped off the first two tastings, and “didn’t have time to talk to us about them”. For $60 a tasting, this is not ok. We’re here to learn about wine, not overpay on poor experiences. I also really dislike wineries dropping off two wines at a time, they get warm and it feels rushed. We then sat there with the wine in our glasses waiting for him to come back to tell us about the wine. After 40 minutes we left. Michael only had 3 other tables, there’s no reason he couldn’t have been attentive to our reservation for 2 people. Additionally when you book the reservation states there’s a wine tour in the cellar and that was never mentioned or done. The reservation is also only 90 min long, so waiting 40 plus minutes to even get started isn’t enjoyable.

If I could give this winery more stars - I would! The location is spectacular, and the tasting room and patio are gorgeous. We had such a beautiful experience. Zack, their Sommelier, led us through an extensive tasting experience that included Flagship wines, Member exclusive wines and several others. We enjoyed everything! My husband and I are wine connoisseurs and enjoy trying new wines to add to our Cellar. We found many favorites during our tasting with Zack. We are sure to return. And will order some of our favorites now we are back home. Highly recommend! Make sure you arrange an appointment.

Zachary was an absolutely excellent guide, showcasing the different attributes and subtleties of their wines. These wines are highly rated for a reason. The property and feel of this winery is of the higher-end ones in Napa or France.

A great tasting experience at Domaine Serene. Ciara, our host, was truly fantastic; generous with her time, knowledgeable about the wines and enthusiastic. The domaine was very accommodating of our six month old who refused to nap! Highly recommend.

Oregon State University

Public university
Sights & Landmarks
Oregon State University, situated in Corvallis, Oregon, is a renowned public research university with a rich history dating back to 1868. Initially established as an agricultural college, it has evolved into a top-tier institution offering over 200 undergraduate and graduate programs. The campus attracts students from across the globe and boasts strong engineering, forestry, and agriculture programs. Visitors can explore the university's facilities through self-guided tours while enjoying the charming college-town atmosphere of Corvallis.
Oregon State University is everything UC Davis pretends to be but fails at. At OSU, the focus is on actual education, innovation, and building skills that employers value. Professors are approachable, research is meaningful and accessible, and the environment is collaborative without being fake. The culture here supports thinkers, builders, and doers — not just social climbers and box-checkers. There’s space for individuality and excellence, and they don’t punish you for not conforming to some unspoken political script like they do at UC Davis. Let’s be real: UC Davis is all branding, no substance. The tuition is inflated, the bureaucracy is thick, and you’ll spend more time figuring out how to “navigate the system” than you will actually learning. Unless you're in a niche STEM field with a connected advisor, the school does little to support your long-term career — and even then, you’re often stuck in oversaturated programs with limited mentorship. Worse, the whole place thrives on fake niceness — surface-level harmony where everyone smiles while undermining each other behind the scenes. Smart, independent students often get sidelined, while the loudest or most conformist get promoted. It’s exhausting and disheartening. And the ROI? A joke. People graduate from UC Davis buried in debt, underprepared for real-world work, and with no professional network unless they already had one going in. OSU, on the other hand, gives you better value, better access, and a better launchpad — with none of the UC attitude. If you want real education, go to Oregon State. If you want stress, debt, and disappointment wrapped in a leafy campus and a shiny brochure, UC Davis is waiting.

This University is incredibly unprofessional and points the finger to way too many different departments. I would like to specify that "Student Account Services" is by far the most unprofessional, unclear and difficult department I have dealt with in higher education as ECampus student. The supervisor whom I don't even recall their name was incredibly rude, told me I was incorrect and that my benefit (Guild) was the one incorrect with billing. Impossible to speak to an advisor and the worst UI I've ever dealt with.. causing me to be unable to drop Summer classes for a Fall registration hold and now I have to appeal 3 departments for financial aid, it is unfathomable. While this is rated the 4th best college for online learning! Just get a certification people - there's no shock less and less people want to attend college.

Salem's Riverfront Carousel is a delightful gem that opened its doors in 2001, showcasing the incredible craftsmanship of local volunteers who hand-carved over 40 stunning horses and other figures. This indoor carousel offers a magical experience for visitors of all ages, with beautifully painted animals that capture the essence of Oregon. The atmosphere is enhanced by friendly staff who are eager to share insights about the intricate carving process.
The carousel is located in such beautiful area. The rides are so well-maintained and is perfect to take your family and then go play at the park. Their gift shop is very nice and they had a nice selection of ice cream. We will definitely be back.

Place was unexpectedly closing early but locked up even earlier than posted time. When asked if we could ride (there from out of state) the guy said no but was trying to explain why and then some big manly looking female with dark hair came over and inserted herself into the convo. She was very rude and openly confrontational. She definitely needs some de-escalation training or something.

A local treasure. All the animals were carved for this carousel. They have a paint and construction area where you can see the work being performed. They also have a nice gift shop. Sometimes they have a fish that swings out and if you get the golden ring, you get a free ride. The playground and park this is located at provides a nice play day. Even the bathrooms are decorated with the carousel theme

What a great place to enjoy a carousel - great condition and very nice gift shop. At the heart of a wonderful park along the Willamette river. Could easily bring the kiddos and make a full day of it!

We came for a birthday party. The room you can rent is pretty tight but you get unlimited carousel rides... for 2 hours only. Between the party, eating, gifts, singing happy birthday, carousel time leaves something to be desired. It should be all day free carousel. My friend did great for her kids' party. I just wouldn't recommend this package, it's not good enough

My kids and I had fun at the carousel. The employees were very nice and friendly. The have carvings on the top sides of the carousel that represent Oregon. They also have a carved Salmon that they occasionally turn out with rings in its mouth and if you grab a gold ring you get a free ride. The gift shop is really nice as well!

07/08/23: I came back to purchase some items and everything was still great. The Adidas store got redesigned with new looks and offers 40% off store wide. The directory at the front is super helpful for visitors like me to quickly search the brands. I enjoyed my visit 06/10/23: this outlet is way better than the ones in Washington. It has a larger parking lot with selections of brands ranging from small, medium to large. There are tons of great deals on different items and especially there are no TAXES. I enjoyed shopping around and will come back in the future

Awesome!!! Great exhibits, wonderful open layout. So glad I found this while browsing Google maps. The exhibits and history are great. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. We are already looking forward to visiting Oregon again amd seeing any new exhibit they may have.

Great place to come and appreciate the concept of horse power! The fee is minimal, they rotate part of the exhibit in and out for multiple things so, its never the same all year. There is interactive exhibits, old to knew examples, pure power and even a huge hydroplane power boat! There is a gift shop, a eatery and tons of things to learn. We enjoyed our selves very much. Then again, we are Porch fans and love racing so, for us it was a double win!

Great experience at the World of Speed Motorsports Museum! So neat seeing their exhibits. They change frequently which is great. I was there during their Mustang and Rally exhibits and the volunteers were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The simulator was a blast and I highly recommend it! They also had a nice little area for younger kids to play around that may not have the patience for the rest of the museum. 🚗

What a fun place to visit. The people who volunteer here are awesome and so very friendly. They are also very helpful. Not afraid to approach you and just start talking. The love most of them have for cars and all of that is very apparent. We learned a lot of history with some of the vehicles in which they have. Very fun. It is also a walk down memory lane with a lot of it. I am not big in to racing but I love great looking machines. This was a great birthday present for the hubby.

I loved their 2018 Porsche exhibit (how often do you get to see, among other things, a 991 911 R and a 959?). There's lots of great stuff otherwise, even for someone who's motorsports interests don't include oval racing (including three Porsche 962Cs, one of which was partially disassembled so you could see the internals). My daughter also enjoyed the kids' area. The formula-car simulator was pretty cool, though the screen is a bit too dim to have in such a well-lit area.

Great location with beautiful views. Baby friendly. Great food pairing options and wine options. The gift shop is great, there are so many thing yo get from chocolate to wine candles to apparel to wine drinking essentials. The inside of the main building is pretty, there is a piano for music, bar fire pit, and plenty of seating up/downstairs. The patio is really nice with umbrellas at each table and pretty landscaping, lots of greenery and flowers. It was very peaceful and enjoyable. Recommend coming here, I usually go to the tasting rooms in Vancouver and Clackamas. Super glad I made the drive. Next stop Domaine Willamette!

Did a private tour and tasting with Josh Gil. He was AMAZING!! He was sooooo knowledgeable, personable, kind, and patient. He showed us all working parts of the winery and it was during harvest season. The story of how the winery came to be with Mr. Burneau and his dad being trailblazers for not only winery owners but for entrepreneurs and small business owners in Oregon was simply amazing! The hustle that Mr. Burneau showed was amazing. Going door to door and finding his own investors was so inspiring. Josh was so knowledgeable about all of this. This was such a treat to get to know and learn about from Josh. Go and take the tour from Josh and then book a table at the dining area after. Oh, and join the wine club and take home some bottles too 😁😁

Def coming to visit again soon and enjoy more wine.

Our party of four, coming from Eugene and Portland, met halfway at WVV for a tour yesterday. It turned out to be a wet and windy day but Natalie O’Brien, our Winery Ambassador, created a most sunny atmosphere for our tour. She is an absolute gem! We loved hanging out with her and learning about the history and craft of winemaking at Willamette Valley Vineyards. We were all impressed with the Natalie’s professionalism, knowledge, warmth and humor… and yes, generous pours. Salud!

Water & Amusement Parks
Enchanted Forest is a well-established amusement park that offers a variety of classic rides and storybook-inspired attractions for children. The park caters primarily to younger visitors since some areas are small and require crawling. However, the pizza served at the park may not meet everyone's expectations, as it has a school-like flavor. The limited options for snacks and drinks were also noted by some visitors. Nonetheless, Enchanted Forest features several enjoyable areas such as the haunted house.
I cannot say enough good things about enchanted forest. It was just a perfect experience from beginning to end. I love the local family owned vibe and culture there depicted in the museum and names of different shops and areas etc. The staff were great everywhere we went. The food was all very affordable. It was very well kept. I love that it is actually entirely set in the forest, it’s not just the name! Wonderful even on a hot day. Everything is so thoughtfully designed. The log ride of course was amazing! My kids loved our time there and so did I. And I have to say THANK YOU for having themed clothing there that matches the theme park! I love buying shirts/sweatshirts from all the fun places we visit, and more and more these days I am disappointed at the selection. It tends to be things that are extremely gendered in ways that are not necessary or make any sense, or they just don’t look at all like the place we are at. Love the neutral actually enchanted forest branded merch and not some gimmicky stuff! We will be coming here for years to come. 😍
Hanna H — Google review
The Enchanted Forest has cast its spell on me time and time again - and even after many visits, I still find myself charmed. While the park may be showing a bit of wear these days, the whimsical magic is alive and well, especially through the eyes of a young child. Wander along shaded woodland paths that twist and turn through nursery rhyme vignettes, fairy tale hideaways, and playful surprises. Whether you're sliding down the tongue of a wicked witch or teetering inside the Crooked Man's house, it's impossible not to feel your inner child emerge for a little fun. The haunted house remains a favorite of mine-though parents beware: it delivers genuine chills that might be too intense for the tiniest adventurers. Another highlight is the rustic little western town, where I enjoyed a warm, fresh churro that hit the spot. There are a couple of small eateries scattered about offering quick, simple bites perfect for refueling mid-adventure. Rides (albeit a bit on the spendy side) range from gentle to thrilling. Ice Mountain and the Big Timber log ride will delight older kids and adults alike, while a dedicated children's section keeps the younger ones happily engaged. We visited on the first open Monday of the season and were pleasantly surprised by the lack of crowds, giving us a relaxed two-hour window to explore every nook and cranny of the park. If you're craving a nostalgic day filled with imagination, quirky charm, and woodland whimsy, the Enchanted Forest delivers. Go ahead-get ENCHANTED. You won't regret it. I wish I had taken more photos, but I was too engrossed to remember!

Took my grandson who's 12 - will be 13 in October. He had, we had...a blast! My 81 year old mother kept up with us and rode ALL the rides! Love that its right in the middle of the forest. Beautiful. Oh and the food and souvenirs are very reasonable!

Just as much fun as you remembered from when you were a kid. We went the last Saturday it was open in November. Even though lines were long and the park was busy, we were able to do everything we wanted to do. Panning for gold, the storybook trails, and the attention to detail remain the best parts of the park experience. Take your kids for a full day; you won't regret it!

I’ve lived in Oregon my whole life and Enchanted Forest is less than an hour away from me, but this was my very first time walking through the park. There is lots of walking and fun stories and fairytales to walk through. My son was sleeping before we left the parking lot. The park itself is slightly outdated but it has a rustic feel to it. It reminds me of our own little Disneyland and I love every bit of that as well! The food was delicious and the price of food was so reasonable! This place is fun for all ages.
Lani S — Google review
Prices are still great for what you get out of it. The jack and the beanstalk performance in the theater was so sweet, they even selected the girl i was babysitting to go down and participate in it, and she loved it so much. She talked about it all day afterward. Now she did NOT love the log ride 😂 but she was proud of herself for doing it. Loved driving the boats in the old western town, just had such a good time. I will be bringing my kids here just like my parents did.
Lx — Google review
Absolutely strange place to be, but I love it! It’s mostly little takes on classic fantasy tales, and even though it’s pretty creepy, there is a lot to see. I highly recommend taking a visit here with the mindset to enjoy it ironically, but there are many aspects, like the western town, which I genuinely like to chill around. The food is also very good and reasonably priced for a theme park. If there’s one thing I have to truly critique, it’s access to water. Throughout my entire visit, not once did I encounter a water fountain in the park. The only way to drink water here is if you bring your own water bottle or pay for a $3 water bottle. I haven’t tried asking for a free water cup, but I highly recommend trying for yourself. Overall, this place is a great one to visit if you’re ever in the area. The entrance pricing is reasonable and ride ticket prices are alright. I highly recommend experiencing the bobsled coaster, log flume, haunted house, and Challenge of Mondor shooting dark ride.

What an amazing place for kids. The craftsmanship on the whole carousel is so beautiful and whimsical. The staff is super nice and friendly. This is a great place to take your kids. They also do birthday party's an its fairly inexpensive. They also have a tour on the history of the carousel. Overall, such a great experience for the kids.

The Albany Carousel is such a great concept and a perfect fit for downtown Albany. The building is beautiful, well-maintained, and the carousel itself is a joy to ride. My kids absolutely love it, and the party rooms are spacious and well laid out for birthdays or other events. That said, my biggest issue — and the reason for the low rating — comes from repeated negative experiences with the carousel volunteers. Many of them are older and, frankly, don’t seem to have much patience or warmth when dealing with young kids. Out of the dozen or so times we’ve visited, we’ve consistently felt unwelcome or even scolded over very minor things that are just part of being around excited little ones. It’s a carousel — naturally it attracts families with small children — so I’d expect more understanding and kindness from those interacting directly with them. On the other hand, the paid staff (especially those managing party room reservations and customer service) have always been polite, helpful, and welcoming. No complaints there at all. I’ll also say the party room rental prices feel steep — $200–$300 for just a couple of hours, especially with very few added perks, feels excessive. We’d absolutely use the space more often if it were more affordable, because our kids love the place. But between the pricing and the attitude of some of the volunteers, it’s hard to fully recommend the experience.

This is a community project to bring people downtown. One of a kind carousel museum with lot of history from a family that brought carousels to America. They teach wood carving and each creature is one of a kind hand carved creation. The people are all volunteers and love what they do with passion. Entryis free and delightful. This is n attra tion not to be missed.

Super fun for kids of all ages! The volunteers really make The experience special! Our grandkids loved it, pro tip: take the tour downstairs!

This is a beautiful, handsome carved, carosel to visit. It features many varieties of animals and a ring grabber. If you sit on the outside. stationary, animals you can grab a few rings as you go by. If you get a brass ring you get a free ride! The music is nice although I was hoping for live carosel music, rather than prerecorded. I thought, with the historic feature of the carosel, they would have a great vintage pipe organ to go with it. The animals are each masterpieces with many detailed carvings on each of them. There is a small ice area offering delicious, hand scooped, ice cream as well as a variety of beverages and fresh popcorn. I was not able to go downstairs im the museum area since we were running short on time and the careers were not carving at the time. The small museum offers a great history on the carosel itself and you can watch as the artists hand carve and paint the amazing ride animals.

The Albany Historic Carousel & Museum is one of the best hidden gems in Oregon. It’s a beautifully restored, hand-carved carousel that kids (and adults!) absolutely love. Every animal on the ride is different—horses, dragons, giraffes, even a baby elephant—and each one is a work of art. The place is very family-friendly and affordable. Entry is free, and you just buy coins to ride. Pro tip: Go on Wednesdays between 3–4pm for Happy Hour—coins are 50% off, so just $1 each! That’s a great deal, especially if you have kids who want to ride again and again. One of the most fun parts? While the carousel spins, riders try to grab a ring from a dispenser. Most are plastic, but if you’re lucky and get the metal ring, you win a free ride! Plus, everyone gets a free ride on the very last ride of the day, which is a sweet touch. There’s also a small museum inside, a window where you can watch volunteers carving new animals, and a gift shop with cute, local souvenirs. Staff and volunteers are super friendly and clearly love what they do. Tips for visiting: • Go on Wednesday 3–4pm for half-price ride coins • Let the kids try to grab the ring—metal ring = free ride! • Stick around for the last ride of the day, it’s free • Great for birthdays, rainy day fun, or out-of-town guests • Check out the carving studio—it’s really cool to see the animals being made This is a fun, wholesome place the whole family will enjoy. Highly recommend for a day trip or stop if you’re anywhere near Albany!

Our second visit to the museum. Visiting the area from California. The little ones love riding the Carousel, choosing a different animal each time. We visited the workshop the first visit but not this time, because of the young ones we had with us. Stopped by the gift shop and had lunch at the snack bar. Definitely a place to check out when I the area.

Loved the carousel! Found the tour very informative. The craftsmanship and detail that went into building the carousel figures was incredible. Strongly recommend visiting.

Willamette Valley, a picturesque region known for its farm-to-fork ethos and over 500 wineries, is a prime wine-growing area famous for its Pinot Noir. The valley hosts abundant farmers markets from June through October, attracting purveyors from across central and eastern Oregon. Visitors can enjoy private vineyard tours and tastings while taking in the beautiful scenery and trails.
Went to visit this beautiful vineyard while staying in Portland for a long weekend. It was an hour drive away and we had a great time. Our private tour with Allison was awesome - she was very knowledgeable about the vineyard practices and the wines even though she had only been on week 6 or so of working there! They had some wines we really loved - the Tualatin Estate Pinot noir was delightful - and others that were just okay (we were not huge fans of the whole cluster Pinot noir). They include a cheese plate with the tour which my husband enjoyed and they put together a vegan plate for me. Overall we had a wonderful time and we really enjoyed Allison’s energy as well as the history she taught us about and the pours that kept flowing 😊

Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm

Sights & Landmarks
Farm hosting an annual tulip festival featuring vast arrays of flowers, with an all-year wine room.
Visiting the Tulip Garden with my family was a truly beautiful experience. The vibrant colors and endless rows of tulips created a breathtaking view, making it feel like we had stepped into a painting. The garden was well-maintained, with walking paths that allowed us to explore at a relaxed pace. It was a perfect place for taking family photos and simply enjoying nature’s beauty together. The atmosphere was peaceful, and we loved seeing so many varieties of tulips in full bloom. A memorable day filled with joy, laughter, and lots of pictures – I would highly recommend it for anyone looking to spend quality time with loved ones!

Visiting Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm was an unforgettable experience! The vibrant fields of tulips stretching across the landscape were absolutely breathtaking and perfect for photography. The farm is well-maintained, and there’s a peaceful charm that makes you want to linger and take it all in. There were plenty of family-friendly activities, food vendors, and even wine tasting for the adults. Parking was well-organized, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. I recommend going early in the season or on a weekday to avoid the larger crowds. If you're looking for a beautiful spring outing or a great spot for photos, Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm is definitely worth the trip.

I purchased the seasonal pass and have visited several times since! The place is stunning with beautiful flowers and an amazing atmosphere. Weekends are lively, filled with friendly faces and laughter. In contrast, weekdays are calm and relaxing, offering more freedom for photoshoots or simply enjoying the scenery. It’s definitely worth it!

What a fantastic tulip 🌷 farm! We picked the perfect day to go, sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky. I’d recommend going as early as you can, the place definitely fills up even on a Tuesday. Saw some stunning tulips, I’m ready to start planting.

I left with a happy heart 💕and a bouquet to match.

We had a great family day at the farm. Weekends are very busy but they have it well organized with timed ticketed entry. Lots of vendors from food to crafts. Free animal wagons for the kids to ride in and a nice gift shop.

Incredibly beautiful place with so many photo spots! There are tons of locations perfect for pictures, and you can even buy the same tulips and cute souvenirs on site. Highly recommend for anyone who loves aesthetic Instagram photos!
Veronika G — Google review
My recent visit to Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm on July 27th was unfortunately a letdown. Having just missed the tulip season, I opted to see their "Summer Flowers," but the $16 per person admission fee felt entirely unjustified. The hot weather had clearly taken its toll, leaving the flowers looking parched and far from their best, which really detracted from the experience. The pricing for picking your own flowers was equally steep; a small vase cost an additional $20, and a larger bucket was $30. Given the condition of the flowers, these prices felt exorbitant. Overall, I cannot recommend visiting the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm outside of tulip season. The summer flower display simply doesn't warrant the high cost of admission or the additional fees for picking.

Nestled in Silverton, Oregon, The Oregon Garden is an 80-acre botanical paradise featuring a diverse array of plant species and captivating water features. Visitors can explore the Children's Garden, Pet-Friendly Garden, and Rediscovery Forest, as well as the iconic Gordon House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The garden offers a feast for the eyes with its colorful flowers, conifers, and rare flora.
Lived in Oregon for 10 years and never been. It was really great. However, one of the main water areas were closed on Memorial Day weekend. There was beautiful art in the garden to buy at this time as well--pieces large and small. Oh, and people brought their dogs and they encourage picnics! Great prices on plants at the nursery. Got a cute mid-size fern for $9! Many were even less $$$. If I lived closer, I might even get a season pass.

I bought the tram ticket upon entry, not realizing I would walk everywhere first. I had the ticket and figured might as well. The gentleman driving -I believe Doug, was enthusiastic and did provide additional information. The grounds are beautiful, plenty of photo ops, they have gorgeous event spaces! Silverton is a super cute town, and a great place to explore after visiting.

It was the perfect weather today to visit the Oregon Garden. Lived here for 5 years and this is the first time I’ve been here. Took the tram around the garden which was actually kind of nice. It’s about 20-25 minute tour. The lady that gave us the tour gave us a lot of history and information about the garden. I assume that coming here in spring will be nicer and more vibrant and fresh than coming in the summer months. There is a lot of parking space and we didn’t have to buy tickets in advance.

On behalf of Kvetka Flower, I want to say a huge thank you to Oregon Garden for the amazing experience! We worked here as florists for a wedding, creating that iconic airy arrangement on the gazebo and decorating the entire venue. The location itself is magical, but what truly impressed us was the team. All the staff were not just professional, but incredibly kind, responsive, and ready to help. It made our work an absolute pleasure. We highly recommend Oregon Garden to both brides and our fellow vendors! We sincerely look forward to new projects with you.

Silver Falls State Park

Silver Falls State Park is Oregon's largest state park and offers a variety of outdoor activities including camping, swimming, picnicking, cycling, and horseback riding. The main attraction is the Trail of Ten Falls Loop which is an easy 8-mile loop that leads visitors through a basalt canyon filled with thick forests teeming with ferns, mosses and wildflowers. This serene park features ten waterfalls along the dog-friendly trail, as well as campsites and cabins for overnight stays.
Silver Falls is a delightful day trip from Salem, Lebanon, and Portland. There are multiple falls to see. There are hiking trails around the canyon and more to the east allowing access to horses and mountain bikes. The park is large enough that is does not seem crowded. The park is gorgeous and being able to walk behind falls is magnificent. We saw dozens of crawdads in the stream by the Upper North Falls. Several areas are steep, but the experience is worth it.

beautiful and not a super rigerous trail, although it does go on for quite a while. So many trails to go down and a very cute cafe at the start was nice. Definitely plan to come again with some friends!

Silver Falls State Park is an absolute treasure for anyone who loves the outdoors. 🌲✨ The hiking trails are beautifully maintained and filled with jaw-dropping scenery at every turn. The famous Trail of Ten Falls lives up to its name — each waterfall is uniquely stunning, from the thundering South Falls to the peaceful smaller cascades tucked deep in the forest. What makes it extra special is that you can actually walk behind several of the waterfalls, which gives the whole hike a magical, immersive feel. The mist, the lush green moss, and the sound of rushing water make it feel like you’ve stepped into another world. Whether you’re an avid hiker or just looking for a peaceful nature escape, Silver Falls is unforgettable. Bring a camera, good shoes, bear spray and plenty of time — you’ll want to soak in every moment.

An absolute gem that needs to be reserved until the end of time. We went in late October to see the colors and it was amazing. Wind storm was coming in and they were promptly working to clear the roads. The rain and wind gave us the chance to have south falls to ourselves and we captured some amazing images. Truly breathtaking scenery. Only my second visit and there is never enough time. South falls is definitely the prime waterfall experience any traveler could be seeking.

Beautiful, well maintained trails. Too many people with dogs where they shouldn't be but saw no animal waste anywhere, it was grand. We did the full 9 mile loop today and absolutely loved it. Will probably do it again on a weekday so it's not so busy next time, but absolutely worth the visit!
Ro Z — Google review
The Trail of Ten Falls is without a doubt one of the highlights of Silver Falls State Park and a must-do hike for anyone visiting. The trail offers a series of stunning waterfalls, each with its own charm, and provides an immersive experience of Oregon’s natural beauty. Trail Options: • Starting from the South Falls Day Use area, you can do a shorter loop beginning at Upper South Falls and finishing via the Rim Trail. This route takes around 2 hours 15 minutes and is a very enjoyable hike with plenty to see. • If you’d like to experience all 10 waterfalls, including the North Falls, plan for at least 3.5 hours or more depending on your pace and time spent at each viewpoint. Alternatively, if you’re short on time, you can also drive closer to North Falls for a shorter walk to enjoy it. Highlights: The most spectacular sections are definitely Upper South Falls and Lower South Falls. These waterfalls are both incredibly picturesque, with trails that even allow you to walk behind them — a unique and memorable experience. If your schedule is tight, I’d recommend prioritizing Upper South Falls, as it’s the most impressive of them all. Trail Experience: The hike itself is easy to moderate and very well maintained. It’s suitable for families and even young children, with plenty of resting spots along the way. The scenery is lush, green, and peaceful, making it just as enjoyable as the waterfalls themselves. Overall: This trail combines accessibility with breathtaking views, making it one of the best hikes in the state. Whether you do the shorter loop or the full 10 falls, you won’t be disappointed. A highly recommended outdoor experience for all ages!

Great place to go for a hike, no parking fees. It wasn't easy but it's not the hardest either, I was in a group with a bunch of kids and they all managed it and had fun as well. There are toilets at the parking lot and some stairs on the route. The stairs might be a bit steep for some but generally, the elevation is gradual. Beautiful waterfalls, loved it.

Multiple trails, a few different waterfalls, a few bridges. None of the trails we encountered were marked very well as to which one you’re on and we didn’t see any wooden plaques that explain which directions to go for which falls. There was one sign. I just mean it’s not very informative. We hike often at various places and some trails provide these, some don’t. We didn’t see any “map” to explain where each falls are. We had to Google ahead of time as there is minimal to zero cell service here. In the summer we like to “hike” up the creek once we’ve hiked from the top area down. The falls are beautiful. More robust in early fall through mid spring. The last two summers with heat made the falls much smaller. But still worth experiencing.

I come to McDowell Creek Falls to shoot photography often and it never disappoints. The areas are always clean and the people that High care are always extremely friendly. Not to mention it’s one of the most beautiful places to photograph!!

This was a pretty sweet trail with beautiful falls and trails. The trail isn't well marked so I ended up a bit confused like most others I ran across. I recommend downloading the offline rout prior to the journey through the woods.
Sarah W — Google review
Very pretty area. At least 4 different waterfalls along the trails. Good for exercise uphills and stairs as well as flat. Be careful in the wet season the stairs and bridges are slippery.
T L — Google review
Who knew we had such a jewel nearby! We explored the entire place and what I liked about it from a park layout perspective is how accommodating it is for different types of visitors. You can choose your own adventure and distance, but even then, if you miscalculate your abilities, there is always a chance to change the itinerary and come out a winner. The park offers multiple picturesque views of hidden waterfalls along the hike from different angles and perspectives. Whether you are the type of person who likes to feel the waterfall breathing in your face or a different type who likes to absorb the natural beauty from afar and safety of the wooden platforms with railings - you got it. Dog lovers, I have a special note for you: keep your friends on leash and controlled. Many park visitors bring their dogs and if yours is more aggressive than others, keep in mind that there are many narrow passages that will make you regret bringing your pup along. Save yourself trouble if your pup can't handle other dogs. Kids will love this place, the hikes are interesting and have frequent changes and interesting interruptions for them to enjoy. Many picnic tables at the beginning of the trails to enjoy family celebration or a lunch break. There are several areas where you can get wet if desired so and even swim ops if you are the type that can tolerate the cold temperature of the water.
Roman K — Google review
Such a pretty place! One of our favorites hikes we’ve been on because you can choose where to start, and go in different directions. There are also a ton of little paths to take to add time to the hike, get closer to the water, etc. The falls weren’t super strong of course because it’s the end of summer but it was a beautiful place no matter what! I will say the steps can be a bit steep so can be harder for some people. And on some of the paths there are trees fallen in the path that are about mid thigh that could be harder to navigate. So fun tho!!

Detroit Lake State Recreation Area

State park
Nature & Parks
Ringed by a forest, this park offers camping along with swimming, fishing & boating in Detroit Lake.
Easy water access and large beach, boat rentals avilabke at the marina, fun gift shop with coffee available, large bathroom & showers available in each loop. D loop is my favorite loop. Lots of trees, so camp stays decently shaded and a little cooler for those hot summer days. No RV dump site or ground hookups available.

A good place for families. Lots of activities. However, my personal tastes are to camp in places with more space between campsights, and less people in general. Looks popular, though.

Love Detroit lake! The recreation area has plenty of parking for day use and for boat trailers. Area is well maintained and clean and has a few picnic tables but they are far from the water in the shade.

It was our first time camping at Detroit lake and in general and it was unforgettable moment. We wish we could stay longer but everything was booked out. A32 was perfect for us since it was right by playground and kids could go there anytime and be watched from camp site. I will definitely return. Loud traffic can be heard especially at night but ear plugs fixed that issue for me. 5/26/2025 update: just returned from another Memorial Day camping trip and our family decided to make it a tradition to come every day. Enjoyed it to the fullest

Mongold Dsy use was a great place to cool off. I dont have a boat or jet ski, but this place looks to be the hot spot. Get there early, whether for boating or sitting on the shore. The area is very rocky. I would suggest water shoes. Bring cover like an easy up or umbrella. It was only 75 but felt much hotter in the sun. The water was decent temp, and we could just hop in. It was a bit windy at times so hard to navigate in a tube alone (bring a paddle). There are a lot of areas along the water so people are spread out. There are only a few picnic tables. Personally, I like a river in which water is a bit clearer and the rocks are tumbled.
Christina M — Google review
Great campground but it lacks areas to play. There is a playground, docks for boating, basketball hoop, a trail that goes all the way around the campground, and of course the lake. There isn't much grass or area to play. If you want to play yard games, catch, badminton, bocce ball, etc you basically have to play in the road. Even where there is grass, it doesn't seem to be watered.
Randy E — Google review
We were here the weekend after labor day weekend and found the campground packed. Fishing wasn't any good because of the water level was so low. We were allowed to have a camp fire which was unheard of in these parts. We will be back....

Geothermal pools in the Willamette National Forest with springs that drain into Rider Creek.
They have really put in the work to get this trail maintained post the fires. I will say the price was raised to $12 instead of the normal $10 so just keep that in mind! The hike to the hot springs is short but I would recommend wearing sturdy shoes as it can still be slick. Enjoy your time there but please be respectful of others enjoying the pools and relaxing
Marissa S — Google review
This is my FAVORITE Hot Springs so far in the PNW. The hike is easy & there are 4 separate pools with different temperatures & a small “cold plunge” area. BRING BACK THE BUCKET! I was shocked at the increase in price to $12 per person unless under 12 (free) but it’s worth it so it doesn’t turn into Bagby.

Loved it , loved it !!!!! Super kool place ... heads up !! Thursdays they don't open it untill 12pm !! The trail isn't hard , the seating/ changing area is adequate and rustic looking and the different temp pools makes it nice ..

$12 fee, open sunrise to sunset. Clothing optional. There are toilets at the trailhead where you pay the person and at the hot springs. On a Sunday morning I was the first one in the parking lot but was soon in the company of about 20 other people by 8am. No cell service
Catherine M — Google review
Good natural hot springs! You need to pay a day use fee at the beginning of the trail, $12 per person. A short 10 minutes hike will bring you to the springs. There are WCs there and small roof covered space where you can leave your belongings in case it would be raining. Overall it is very enjoyable place, but it can be crowded sometimes. I don't show the springs on my photos because some people prefer to take bathing naked
Mikhail B — Google review
My first hot spring ever in Oregon! I’ve been wanting to visit a hot spring, and this one sure didn’t disappoint! It’s about a 1/4 mile walk/hike to the springs, but it’s easy enough if you take it easy and don’t mind heights or a small trail. The pay station was broken, so lucky enough we found a host to give our money to! There are 4 different springs, ranging from too hot to lukewarm. The best one was the second hottest. Enjoy and be kind to each other! 🌊🗻💜💦 🫧
Kathy R — Google review
$12 per person to enter. You park on the edge of road in front of their little booth. The guys who work it are nice and friendly, and they explain the rules clearly. No drugs, no alcohol, no obscene behavior (yall know what im talking about). The hot springs is nude optional, so be warned if you bring your kids. Anyways, the hot springs themselves are cool. About 4 pools each at varying temperatures. The highest one being the hottest and the lower you go the cooler. I did notice that the bottom 2 in particular were quite murky and mossy. To be expected in nature but not really my taste. Would I come back? Ehh, I don’t really think so. Unless I had the springs to myself or sharing it with a handful of people but the springs get crowded a bit.
Ayden C — Google review
Good place, I have never before experienced hot springs and it was cool! there are 4 springs and each has a different temperature. In the highest, the water is the hottest, and in the lowest, it is colder. It takes 15 minutes to get there from the parking lot. you have to be prepared that people can be completely naked.

Surrounded by wilderness on either side, this is as close as you can get to being truly immersed and wilderness, and still being on a mechanized device.

The observatory, called the Dee Wright Observatory, is for viewing the mountains, not the sky. The restroom was closed "for construction" but there's no construction taking place. No water is available. There are no tables or benches. Please be aware that you'll pass through five miles of burned forest from the 2020 firestorm on the way up from Sisters.
Gerald H — Google review
Beautiful drive up the pass an the Dee Wright Observatory is a must stop along the way! Previous years fire on the east side has devastated the area, but the route is still beautiful. Be careful of the bicycles using this route. Some will ride 2 or 3 side by side going up & down the pass. Please give them space because there not much of a shoulder. I usually tap my horn about 50 yards to let them know I am coming up from behind. Tour groups please don’t use this route during busy times! It’s a recipe for getting someone hurt/killed. Steep grades, no shoulder, beautiful views an distractions galore just means driver & bikers will not be paying attention to the road! This is from someone who regularly rides his bike.

Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery

Fish farm
Mid-week visit. Enjoyed wandering the grounds & checking out all the different sections with fish in varying stages of growth. Most of our time was spent feeding the semi-wild trout at the pond & marveling at their size & never-ending appetite. A must for families with kiddos!
AOVM — Google review
What an absolutely beautiful place. Not too far of a drive. Paved paths. Was able to push my husband in his wheelchair thru out the whole area. Always a pleasure to spend an afternoon out here
_wethebeardandbun_ — Google review
I've gone here twice and both times I enjoyed it a lot. It was really nice to just walk around and appreciate nature as well as to feed the fish. You can buy some fish food and machines around the place for a quarter. You can also spot an eagle perched at the top of the trees sometimes which is awesome sight. I forgot to take pictures of the actual hatchery, but I took some of the river.
Heber G — Google review
Super cool looking at the fish and the river was insane!
Isaiah D — Google review
Very beautiful place for a stroll/hike, alone or with family or friends. Place is well maintained, with lots of fish of different stage complete with information boards for your knowledge. Bring a picnic lunch as there are tables overlooking the lake and the view is gorgeous!
Kelly C — Google review
The hatchery was on a nice site. We could roam freely along the runs, observing the bigger fish. The fertilizing and nursery were closed.. There was a pond with large fish swimming around that you could feed. The river next to the hatchery was beautiful.
Ann B — Google review
The hatchery is notable in that the West and East Metolius trails can be accessed from here. Ample parking and several campgrounds are very close by. The fall scenery here is mindblowing and picture taking opportunities are abundant. Bring all of your supplies, the closest store is Camp Sherman and is miles away. Five star hiking area.

Bodies of Water
Sparks Lake is a stunning destination that beckons outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Nestled just a 40-minute drive from Bend, this picturesque lake offers breathtaking views of surrounding mountain peaks, making it an ideal spot for kayaking and canoeing. The journey to Sparks Lake includes a bumpy last stretch, but the reward is well worth it. Once you arrive, you'll find convenient amenities like restrooms and access to lovely trails that are perfect for leisurely strolls or photography sessions.
Sparks Lake is a kayaker's dream, especially for those with young children. The shallow waters are perfect for splashing and wading. The sandy bottom makes it comfortable for little ones to explore. The water's clarity is remarkable; you can see straight to the bottom, though fish seem to be elusive in these pristine waters. Despite the refreshing chill of the water, the mid-80s weather made for a perfect day on the lake. The stunning views of Mount Bachelor, a popular ski resort, provided a breathtaking backdrop for our kayaking adventure. You can pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a leisurely day on the water, encountering friendly people kayaking, paddleboarding, and enjoying other non-motorized activities. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, making Sparks Lake an unforgettable experience.

Camped at Sparks Lake in early August. Bit of a rough road getting in, but do-able. We turned into the first campsite we found on the right. Mid 40s at night and nice and warm during the day. We were on a little point and caught a nice breeze esp in the afternoons. Mosquitos were only a problem in the woods and when the wind died down, and even then they weren't that bad. Really a beautiful spot!

Absolutely gorgeous lake at the end of one of the most bumpiest roads I've ever been on. The lake itself is so peaceful and the views of the mountains are incredible. I didn't float out far but the water was insanely clear as far as I could see. Definitely recommend checking it out if you have a car that sits higher. OH! And don't forget your bug spray, the bugs are brutal if you don't have it handy.
Amanda H — Google review
It was love at first sight! Due to a really rough access road, it was not even close to as crowded as touristy Elk Lake was. It's quiet and peaceful here. There's a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and really cool rock formations. I went during the fires, so it got extremely smokey in the afternoon, but it was decently clear in the morning. The lake was almost all only a foot or two deep, and I dragged bottom a couple of times. But there's a lot of lake area now covered with beautiful flowers because it's so shallow. This was my favorite of all the lakes!
Karyn G — Google review
The road getting in definitely needs repair so be prepared for that. The lake is quite shallow, and anything deeper is going to be to the south. Beautiful Mountain View’s.
Jerrod P — Google review
A very nice lake, especially at sunrise, I recommend taking nothing smaller than a suv because our car scraped a few times but it was well worth it driving back in for sunrise, even if there wasn't any clouds in the sky. It was about 32°F so the steam over the water was amazing. The restrooms were horrible. I highly recommend this lake to landscape photographers, especially at sunrise because all you have to do is drive to the day use area and you have thr perfect view at the lake side right by you.
Mark M — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place. I’m sure it’s great during the spring and summer too but the frozen lake and the scenery around it during the late fall and winter is just stunning. Definitely need a 4x4 to access this lake unless you want to hike all the way in from the main road.

Lake Billy Chinook

Bodies of Water
Artificial lake in a desert canyon, known for fishing & water sports, with campsites & houseboats.
We camped at Perry South campground. Got a nice corner spot next to the fresh water pump. There was plenty of shade. The lake is huge by our standards, and Chinook Island is a great place to spend an afternoon. We caught Kokanee and bass. Oh, and the campsite bathrooms were clean and didn't smell.

Amazing place to vacation. We camped at Crooked River Campground in the Cove Palisades State Park. The campsite was large and the bathrooms were cleaned everyday. Clean showers were a blessing at the end of the day! There was lots of wild life and deer. Hiking trail and small amphitheater area for a large group gathering. AT&T had reception but T-Mobile users were out of luck in camp. Lots of fun on the water. And grassy tree shaded play area for kids on the bank with protected swim area right next to boat launch. Made it easy to take turns on the water with large family. There is a courtesy dock that was extremely useful. There is a kayak launch too. Great to board kayak roller launch into water easy . There is a marina for fuel and general store for things you forgot( like a case of water) . Lots of opportunity to rent house boats, jet skis and other watercraft. Would suggest to go to “clear water” where the green water of Lake Billy Schnook meets the fresh mountain river. The water in the river is crystal clear and cold which is a big contrast to the green warm water of Billy Schnook. The rock canyon walls are beautiful. Lava, pressure and time have created works of art. Nature is beautiful. On land I would suggest to visit the scenic look out points. You can see Mount Hood, Mount Jefferson, and the Sisters. ( plus the others in the ring of fire. Don’t know all the names) . We were there 7 days and could have stayed longer.

I went here for a Christian summer camp with my church and I got to meet a lot of new people and make a lot of friends especially kids around my age and some really cool leaders. There were areas where we could go on Shore and hike or walk around if we wanted to we were also able to canoe and swim almost wherever we wanted. We stayed on houseboats and it was a really fun experience to know what it's like to live on a boat and to get closer to God. The only not-so-fun part was the almost a little over eight hour drive but it was still cool because we got to ride the whole way in tour buses that had TVs and USB ports so we have entertainment .I will still definitely be going again next year and making even more memories and strengthening my relationship with God. P. S I just wrote a really long review because I need to level up my tour guide account and to do that I have to make 5 200-plus character reviews.

Beautiful lake with large basalt cliffs. Road that winds around the cove pallasaids is quite an adventure
Josh P — Google review
Cove Pallisades state park, the three rivers community and Lake Billy Chinook, in Culver are a sight to behold, the canyons from the town following the outline of the lake up to three rivers and then into the marina is a spectacular if hazardous drive (falling rocks), and never ceases to amaze, never busy, terribly overlooked in terms of scenery, opposite the Warm Springs native nation and the pelton dam, Round Butte mountain which has a spectacular 360° viewpoint over the Cascades, been 7 times, going to visit again in Feb. '26, can't wait, a poinant scattering my mothers ashes over the lake, Redmond and Bend, Madras and Prineville can't wait.

Had a very nice vacation here during the eclipse. Family had a great time in the swim area of three rivers marina. Well stocked and supplied stores only downfall is public out houses were stinky. All in all, a stellar experience.
Patrick D — Google review
I grew up in Central Oregon and this was one of my favorite swimming holes. It’s a shame that there seems to be a chronic blue-green algae problem in the water. It’s still an excellent spot for boating and camping. The place I last stayed even had an educational program in the canyon every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.

Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort

Ski resort
Outdoor Activities
Nestled in the stunning Cascade Mountains, Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort boasts an impressive 3,683 acres of skiable terrain accessible via ten lifts, including one that takes you to the mountain's summit. As a first-time visitor from New York, I was thrilled by my experience here! The resort offers a variety of trails catering to all skill levels—beginners can enjoy gentle slopes while more advanced skiers can challenge themselves on steeper runs.
Fun in winter or summer. I came here in the winter for cross country skiing and came back now for mountain biking. There are trails for all skill levels, and each run is well maintained and easily accessible. We had a blast. We ate at the restaurant at the bottom of the run and had an excellent reuben and club sandwich. Pricey but good.
Michael L — Google review
First time visiting Mt. Bachelor. Did not ski - yet still had the time of my life. Such a fun gondola ride up the mountain. Other activities included zip lining (sadly, did not get the chance to experience such a great ride) Staff was so helpful and friendly. The gift shops were well organized, of course staying busy yet still able to be in and out! Would love to come back for more fun activities
Claire G — Google review
What a FUN time. The staff is very nice, easy going, professional, knowledgeable, and extremely safety conscious. The views are spectacular and the ride itself is a load of fun. Your ticket allows you to ride the lift up again after your zip line so you can go back up, explore, hike, or enjoy the vista. Highly recommend this mini adventure.
Jan T — Google review
Awesome ski resort. Great snow quality. We did spring skiing and throughout the day were switching lifts and runs to escape melted snow:) Great choice for kids as well! The only thing...I would love to see more healthy food options in lodges. Pizza, burgers and fries...So people usually bring some food with them and there is a whole level in the Lodge to enjoy it ( there is a microwave as well).
Svetlana G — Google review
The zipline is a MUST!! The only downside was the address link in my email confirmation took me to the wrong address about 25 miles away and almost made me late for the experience. Barely made it! My friend and I went together for my birthday and it was THRILLING in the best way!! Staff were all fun, upbeat, and very knowledge. I would definitely recommend a go-pro or some way to safely secure your phone on you to record the experience, otherwise any items must stay in zippered pockets or in cubbies on the ground. FANTASTIC views!! Just absolutely stunning.
Emily M — Google review
Everybody knows that you can downhill ski at Mount Bachelor but recently I had the opportunity to try downhill mountain biking and what a great time that was! I’ve been living in Bend Oregon for 30+ years and over the last three years started mountain biking but I had never had the courage or opportunity to try the downhill. I was totally impressed with the amount of design built into all of the trails and it wasn’t just for high-level downhill experience, there were also more lower level trails which is where I started and worked my way up. It doesn’t take very many runs to feel like you’re exhausted. It’s a lot more physical than what I’ve ever realised so I ended up enjoying a nice lunch at the restaurant while the other guys that I were with With had a few more runs. what a beautiful day here’s a photo.
Mr E — Google review
Summer lift-access biking here is incredible. The blue flow trails are long and enjoyable, the black tech is gnarly, and Redline is probably the best jump line for an intermediary rider.
Christopher B — Google review
This may be the most impressive ski resort that I've ever driven up to. The mountain is massive. While it looks imposing from the drive, Mt Bachelor is Heaven for intermediate skiers. It has tons of open bowl skiing paired with lots of wide low angle glades. We skied here during spring conditions, but I can imagine this place being amazing during a big storm.

Tumalo Falls

Mentioned on

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Nestled within the stunning Deschutes National Forest, Tumalo Falls is a breathtaking 97-foot waterfall that should be on every nature lover's itinerary. The journey to this natural wonder is an adventure in itself, just a short drive from Bend, Oregon. While the last stretch involves a well-maintained dirt road, it leads you to an accessible parking area where your exploration begins. From there, it's just a brief walk to various viewpoints that showcase the falls' majestic beauty.
Tumalo Falls is absolutely stunning! I visited during the snow season and it felt like stepping into a winter wonderland. The best part — we had the whole place to ourselves, which made it even more special and romantic. The snow-covered trees and the waterfall framed in white were picture-perfect. We stayed until sunset, and it was nothing short of magical — the sky glowing against the snowy backdrop while the falls kept roaring in the quiet forest. Truly one of the most beautiful and peaceful experiences I’ve had in Oregon. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a mix of adventure, beauty, and tranquility.
Sid — Google review
Somewhat easy hike to Tumalo Falls itself and then up to Double Falls. We enjoyed the scenery, and you can go down to Tumalo Creek to wade in places.
M P — Google review
A great place to go! Road: the last two miles are gravel and dust. Any car or truck should be able to make this and need to be washed later. Parking: the first thing you’ll is a small overflow lot. This is where one pays a park fee of $5. Tap your credit card and out pops a pass. You can park here and walk a 1/2 mile to the trailhead. Or you can keep driving to find a parking spot along the road or at the small main lot at the entrance. We were there on a busy Sunday and found parking on the road. Falls: walk along the path for great viewpoints. If you go beyond the top of the falls, there are places for water access. Restroom: Yes. Nothing amazing but better than none at all.
Larry F — Google review
This was an amazing opportunity to visit the falls! The weather was perfect and it was not that busy at all. The road does get a little bumpy but it was well worth the short drive from Bend! I could just stay there for hours you will get lost in the peace and quiet with the flowing water....amazing!
Troy M — Google review
Nice hike. Elevation gain was steady. Beautiful views. Nice overlooks parking limited. Vault toilets. Main trail dogs are allowed. Side trails, no dogs.

Absolutely amazing. The walk up to the viewpoint is steep but manageable. Nice easy trip from Bend. The last couple miles is a little bumpy but easy for even a car.

Our first visit to the fall. I don’t believe I ever been here before even when I lived here in the 70s. It was a nice cool day and very light crowds. Yes there is a nice gravel portion of the road. Make sure you have decent ground clearance coming in. There’s some nice creators in the road.

Forested area with camping, cabins & a river, plus an ancient, 162-ft. tall ponderosa pine.
Reservations required here. Super easy process to check in/out. Large, clean and quiet park with 100s of spaces for tent and trailer camping. We had a spot right next to the river. Several walking paths to get to the water where you can float/paddle or just hang out. We only stayed one night but would definitely go back! Beautiful scenery and reasonably priced.

We stayed a week, which was about a month too little. The last few days were raining, which wasn't the parks fault. Very quiet as it is about 5 miles from the highway. Don't expect very good cell service here. Starlink worked great. Many trails and a beautiful river. A huge list of things to do and see in the area. We will be coming back for more. Expect visits from tiny ground squirrels and even smaller chipmunks. They are high energy and entertaining. We had visits from Stellar Jays (a type of blue bird).
Russ R — Google review
Good campground, clean and well kept. It is popular and can get very crowded. Bathrooms and showers can get a bit competitive. If you are going for peace and quiet, think this one through. There are a ton of kids on bikes, scooters etc...it is an awesome place for kids so it makes sense, but it is loud during the day. If you have kids, this place is fantastic. The river, playgrounds, trails...it has it all.
Dave V — Google review
For camping, it all depends on the loop and space you choose. It is a well kept park with several trails and a lot of thieving chip turds (California golden mantled ground squirrels). We come here as often as we can. Do expect huge temperature swings if you camp here.
Scott R — Google review
Pretty forested state park and campground. You can visit the world's largest Ponderosa Pine Tree and several places to view, play in, or launch kayaks into the Deschutes River. Campground spaces have hookups. There are also standard and deluxe cabins.
Matthew W — Google review
Stayed in a cabin in the South Loop and it was magical. Lots of hiking, biking if you are into that and beautiful views of the river and Ponderosa pines. It was quiet and camp sites were well spaced. Park rangers were very nice and firewood and ice were easy and self-service (easiest to use cash, but credit possible.) Cabin had heat, 2 queen beds and small dining table with 4 chairs and a tiny desk and electric outlets. Outside a small porch with bench and picnic table, bbq and fire pit. Showers were warm and bathrooms clean. Close to lava sites like Obsidian Flow, Paulina Peak, Lava Cast Forest and Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Pay attention to weather and temps as it is high desert. So June can be cold. Also, look up what passes you may need for the sites you want to visit. Definitely coming back.
Paul E — Google review
Nice campground sites are not too close together , however with the recent cleanup and trimming of trees they've done, there is not much to interrupt the view between sites if your looking for privacy. we would stay here again.
David M — Google review
Beautiful park. I called the reservation number a few hours before arriving and got a spot. There were several available. Level (for the most part) spaces with full hook-ups. Very quiet. Lots of friendly folks...campers and staff. Extremely limited cell service (T-Mobile). Paid $45 for the night.
