This is a nice place to get away and relax. Nice pool area and hot tub. The staff is always friendly and more than willing to help and answer any questions. The environment is relaxing with the nice setting in the lobby. The rooms are nice and clean and spacious. Love the showers, wish the bathtubs were a little bigger.

Went to Feather Falls Casino for the first time last Saturday night. What a Fabulous surprise. So we parked and was met at the front door by super friendly staff, who held open the door for us, and as they did I was expecting 1 quite room with a few handfuls of machines. As I stepped inside I realized oh the parking lot was packed. It was hoping, there was a live band playing, the sound of machines paying out, and the size is secretly hidden from the outside view. We got our players card with no waiting in line. We had a great time, there are so many machines. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the bathrooms were clean. A little hidden gem.
Rebecca W — Google review
Had an absolutely stellar experience. The room was amazing, the food at the brewery was wonderful and the staff was more than friendly. I wasn't able to try any of the award winning beers sadly but I'll definitely be coming back.
Colin G — Google review
We were attending a wedding on the feather river and had minimal time to ge t ready after the scheduled check in. The Lodge was able to get us an early check-in! This gave us 3 extra hours to get 3 ladies ready and off to the venue. The room smelled nice and was clean. The staff was professional and very nice. Overall we enjoyed the stay.
Jacob R — Google review
Just stopped in. On my way home. Didn't get rich but made a couple bucks there. Nice layout and plenty of games to play. Not real busy when we dropped in. Plan on stopping by again someday soon.
Jon I — Google review
Super helpful staff. They could use more towels at the pool but I didn’t ask. If I had I have no doubt they would have brought more. We ended up staying an extra nite and canceling our rooms at our next destination. My Traveling Ape, Akut liked the bed too.
Chalene P — Google review
I haven't stayed in the hotel but I have spent plenty of time in the casino. The thing that impressed me was the slot techs and table dealers were very friendly. They went out of there way to let you have fun. I know the attitude of employees really determines my choice where I spend my time and money.
James B — Google review
The sashimi at the casino main restaurant is very fresh and just as good as i've had at high end suahi bars for a fraction of the price. The portions are very large on the 3 boat sizes they offer. The other food they serve is also very good.. I've never had a bad meal here. Always great!

Gold Country Casino Resort is an award-winning hotel and casino located in Oroville, California. The resort offers modern rooms and suites, a lively casino floor with slot machines, card tables, and bingo games. Guests can enjoy various dining options, bars, bowling, and live entertainment at the Gold Country Event Center. The venue hosts a variety of shows including live comedy, music performances, and MMA fighting events.
The junior suite was very nice and the price was reasonable. Only minus for me were the pillows. Too high and bulky for me. I used a folded blanket instead. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good location to downtown and fishing. Casino was nice and well lit. We had a great time.
Malia Y — Google review
The venue is visually impressive, but our experience was unfortunately disappointing. While waiting, we sat on some available couches. Shortly after, Hotel staff approached us and asked us to leave — with explanation this place for VIP and with no signs indicating that the area was reserved or off-limits. If the space is meant for VIP guests, that should be clearly marked. Everything appeared open to all visitors, and we weren’t violating any visible rules. The interaction left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. As for the slot machines — they look flashy and inviting, but the gameplay felt extremely tight. After trying several machines, we noticed that even minimal wins were rare, and there was no sense of fair play or excitement. It felt more like a one-way transaction than a game of chance. None a valuable bonuses. If you're hoping for a bit of fun or thrill, this may not be the place. Beautiful setting, but the overall experience lacked warmth, transparency, and hospitality.
Galina S — Google review
The Safire restaurant is worth going to. It's on the 6th floor, take the elevator up, and it feels very removed from the rest of the gaming atmosphere. Reasonably priced meals and service was good. Casino is big and has other bars/restaurants. Drinks were not expensive. It's smoky but not overwhelming. My gaming experience was a lot of up and down so you get to play, just leave when you're up! If you get a jackpot or a machine requires an attendant for any reason, be prepared to wait. For a casino this size, I'd expect the pay out process to be a bit more efficient. Parking was plentiful and the gas is the best deal around so fill up while you're here.
Kara N — Google review
Very nice staff, beautiful casino. Bingo is fun there. Great food. Haven't stayed in a room as of yet. Hopefully the bingo bus from Anderson will be able to continue.
Ron A — Google review
Good food selection at the restaurants. Gift shop looks interesting from the outside, but haven't been inside yet. Rooms are spacious, a little basic but nice & comfortable & clean. Casino host is warm, welcoming, professional. Great promo gifts. GC has the most generous free play I have seen, which makes the visit worth the drive. Rather out of the way, but we stop & hit thrift stores.
Kris S — Google review
The food at the restaurants are pretty good, but in terms of the casino, they treat their players like absolutely CRAP—especially loyal patrons. I’m a black card holder, the 2nd to last tier, and the way I was treated in my previous stay was utterly disrespectful and distasteful. I spend THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS here just to be treated like a nobody. They don’t respect their players, I do NOT recommend spending your time and hard earned money here—there are better options like feather falls and Hard Rock
Yu T — Google review
This Casino is only 8 miles from my house and my lady and I love to go and enjoy breakfast and dinner there With an anniversary, birthday or that special date night to selibrate the occasion. The bar on the 6th floor is a classy place to take your lady to and enjoy each other's company. Good food and service is great and reasonably priced.
Jerry A — Google review
The smoke was sooo bad in here couldnt stay long our throats were hurting. Not good air filtration systems? Also the machines all were terrible we had a $100 each and just kept going down. Not a fun first impression. The acorn cafe was good but that’s about it. We had a great time at feather falls the weekend or so before I kept $20 going forever there and my husband actually won some.

The visitor center is nice. Discusses the history of the Dam construction that formed lake Oroville. You have views of the lake side of the dam. Discusses the Native Americans who inhabited the area. There is a very interesting film about the construction of the dam. This is well worth seeing.

Gray Lodge Wildlife Area

Nature & Wildlife Areas
A 9,200-acre expanse of protected wetlands offering trails, bird-watching, fishing & hunting.
We went at the end of January to try to see the birds. We walked the Wet land Discovery Trail. It was a nice short walk with lots of info in the booklet at the beginning of the trail. At the viewing platform I saw a Bald Eagle thru the free telescope! It was an Amazing site. We will definitely be heading back again for the longer trail when it's less windy. Last picture is a picture of the Eagle thru the telescope
Keli T — Google review
It is a must-see place! There are a lot of places in the area for a walk, but there are also a lot of area along the roads when you can just drive along and enjoy the beautiful views. Yes, it is an area to watch birds, and they are definitely the protagonists in the story. However, the place has wonderful views by itself, too.
Aleksei K — Google review
Great place to visit, see wild life and a take a bit of a hike. The Department of Fish and Game does require a land pass. I don’t mind support the wildlife area but the pass idea is a bit of a pain. Portable toilets. Bring water.
Steven H — Google review
Very cool place to hike, view wildlife, picnic, fish, or just hangout at. Winter months are great for viewing migratory birds at the excellent viewing decks. You can also do the drive able loop.
Marcos A — Google review
Live this place and hope this area remains protected, it MUST BE PROTECTED, or the results will be devastating to so much wild life as well as migratory patterns of birds that are already in danger. I have an app on my phone that ID's birds by the calls the make and it is great to use out at Grey Lodge, in two days I identified over twenty species of birds. Love that they allow dogs on leash, the area is so peaceful and quiet I envy any employees that reside out there. I plan on getting an annual land pass but you can get daily pass easily online and print it up at a cost of $5.60 cents. There is no where else you can enjoy an outing for that price period.
L F — Google review
We visit Gray Lodge at least once a year in November. We come primarily just to view the wildlife and walk the tails with our dogs. We always see cool animals; turtles, owls, eagles, raccoons, river otters, and of course, thousands of water fowl.
Aura T — Google review
Beautiful, serene, expansive area. Great 2-mile hiking trail, but not much shade so wouldn’t be very pleasant on a hot day. Nice 3-mile auto loop too. All accessible from Parking Lot 14. Picnic tables are in a nice location but dirty so bring a towel to sit on. And be sure to buy your Land Use Pass online ahead of time.
Allison W — Google review
I cannot say enough about driving through Gray Lodge. We did the drive through tour and drove about 5mph. We stopped many times for great bird viewing and everyone seemed patient and cool. The birds were fantastic. Turtles sun bathing, Cotton tail rabbits darting around and pelicans even!! Best $5.00 ever spent. You can't help but feel like a National Geographic photographer out there with your cell phone camera even. Trails for walking, a room to watch birds while out of the weather. Great for anyone!!

Colusa Casino Resort

Casino
Casinos & Gambling
Country-style rooms in a complex with a casino, spa & dining options, plus a fitness center.
We had an amazing time stopping at this location on our travel home. The rooms were super clean and comfortable. As far as hotel amenities there's really nothing to do but the casino. Hopefully they put a pool in someday. We had a good time at the casino and won a nice jackpot. Card rooms are closed after 10: 00 🤐 we also had the shrimp and steak only buffet. What an interesting concept. It was expensive, limited, although VERY limited.
Rich ( — Google review
Some posting online says it had some cash poker table. It does not have poker. Maybe at one time it did, but that is no longer the case. The food although limited it slightly above average. The site can be misleading saying it has "table games" they electric digital machines. The craps is a electric image of dice. The only thing that seemed remotely like a table game was the roulette as it does have a actual wheel and ball with a camera. The down side is the roulette numbers only pay around 25-26 to 1. I'm assuming because the game offer this special bonus multiplier that I never seen hit. With all that be said I'm not a slot player but will play if that's that the only option. In my experience here at this casino that slots have a better than average pay back then I have experience at other casinos. If I'm in the area I would stop here again.
Jeremy — Google review
Was on an RV trip and stayed overnight in the free RV parking area. Had a great dinner in the restaurant. Service was prompt c and friendly. Fueled up at the on site convenience market. Great gas prices plus easy access for large and small rv's!! Will definitely stay there again!
Tom K — Google review
We stayed last weekend for a visit to celebrate an early birthday, my spouse and I. We were able to get a room reservation and park our big rig truck and trailer safely overnight, in the oversize parking lot. We enjoyed the room in the lodge, it was very clean, quite, and so comfortable with ice cold air conditioning, and a large fantastic, and well appointed bathroom with a bathtub, with plenty of large fluffy bath towels! We ate twice at Jack's, the bourbon jam bacon hamburgers were so delicious, with both regular and sweet potato fries. The Cafe was also perfect for early morning espressos! We had fun gaming for hours and saw lots of guests winning all around us, and we shared in the excitement. It was also cool to be entered in the Sat Sept drawings with our players card, although we didn't win them. Kudos to host Kimberly! She met with us multiple times to explain questions we had about accruing players club points and to check on us. We even received a follow up phone call today, amazing! She is absolutely wonderful, and showed that she cared about our experience and visit, even though we are neither vip nor high rollers. Anyone who has the pleasure of her help and expertise will definitely feel like a winner!! Thank you so much, Calusa Casino Resort!
Tony C — Google review
I have never been here before and, in fact, did not intend to come here this weekend. I am so glad I did! It's not a big place, but it is friendly and clean. The slots were new and there was a good variety. I did not go away a winner but I also did not go away a loser. The food is good although the little cafe is a bit overpriced. $3.50 for a box of Milk Duds! I can't wait to get back there.
Diane H — Google review
I come here a lot because it's close, which is why it makes me sad to give it such a low rating. The waitresses, at least most of them will not even ask you if you want a drink or be polite to you unless they know you have money. I go there with my aunt all the time. And she's a high roller, because she's married to someone who owns a casino as well. They will fall all over her feet because she will tip them a $100 for a free soda, but they will look at me and only ask me if I want something if I'm with her, if I'm not with her, they will pass me up. So I tell her when I'm with her, "Don't tip anything for service for me. I'll get my own soda because they don't deserve a tip!" They know who they are that I'm speaking about. This place is also getting very expensive. You can't use your coupons for free food without paying more because they've raised the prices. It's terrible. Also, if you have free play, trust and believe you're not winning with your free play, they will suck all of that back and then some before you win a super small amount of money. A lot of the people that work on the floor are also rude. You don't even want to look at them because of the attitude you'll get back... rude. I have not given a review like this ever, or at least in a long time. I just can't get over how horrible this place has gotten.
Gloria M — Google review
Small but nice little casino. Bingo is good here. The outdoor lounge area with the fire pits are great to relax and have a drink. Rooms are good size.
Kristy H — Google review
Casino floor is clean , new machines, won some money! Went to jacks restaurant, wife had salmon which she liked, I ordered nachos, showed up cold, sent back, still not right, left hungry, how do you ruin nachos? Will gamble, won't eat. Also ordered 2 glasses of wine, they were in same style glass, 1 looked half as much as the other.

Barry R. Kirshner Wildlife Sanctuary

Temporarily Closed

Animal rescue service
Wildlife sanctuary exhibiting exotic & endangered animal species, & offering educational programs.
Literally one of my favorite places on earth. What a magical and unique experience to see some of the best animals up close. Literally a once in a lifetime place we come to as much as we can.
Sabrina M — Google review
The condition these animals live in are horrible. They have no grass or room to run around most barely have room to walk back and forth more than 10 steps each way. It was hot when we went and they barely had shade and no misters to keep them cool. They should be taken to an actual sanctuary. This is not a sanctuary it’s a prison.
Jms — Google review
Great place, this is mainly a rescue center, but some animals did not need to be there. I'm talking about how in the description it tells you why that animal is there, many of the animals were there because of nutritional program where they do lots of testing. Not bad prices 10$ for adult and 6$ for kids.
Lexi — Google review
We really enjoyed this place. I know some people are noting that the animals don't have big habits for space, but I'm happy that they are being taken care of. Not all of them are able to be rehabilitated to the degree that they can be transferred back out to the wild. When we were done looking at all of the animals, we found a very nice spot on the grounds to have our little picnic lunch. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable here, also. We will be back!
Debora G — Google review
Such a cool hidden place! I’m so glad we went and visited. Had a great time and the caregivers of this sanctuary are super nice and you can tell it’s not just like some ‘Zoo’ where they mistreat their animals. Highly recommend going there just as a day trip(:
Ashley O — Google review
Absolutely Amazing! Definitely pleased with animals, people, and accommodations. Everyone is friendly and pleasure to speak with. The animals did not disappoint. They were up walking around, we got to see feeding time, and hear a few roars. They had golf cars that we could use, free of charge, for all 6 of us. Nice touch for me being disabled and my 2 pregnant daughters. Such a Great experience! 👍🏽
Meg F — Google review
It was amazing to see all the animals up close. They really are amazing this place works solely on donations they rehabilitate some animals and then house some that cannot be placed back in the wild all the staff are volunteers they do have days where you can arrange to take pictures with baby animals and they very so stop by and visit them and if you can sponsor an animal talk to a volunteer about how
Julie S — Google review
Overall the park grounds where well maintained. There's a lot of different exotic animals to view.. The staff was friendly & kind. The surrounding land on the drive, to the park was pretty. It's a quiet place & u can also bring ur lunch if u wanted (picnic area) inside that's shaded. Overall.. I gave 3 stars bcz I feel, that these animals are being kept in too small of cages! I unfortunately, won't come back bcz I didn't enjoy seeing that part of the park! It's my own opinion. Everything else was great.

Feather River Canyon

Nature & Parks
Hiking Trails
Waterfalls
A beautiful location! This stretch has plenty of fishing and camping opportunities. Look for the seams in the river. Either dry flies or nymphs, both work very well and there are some toads in here. Head east to find camping, it’s a secret site with river access (Indian Jim’s elementary school), flat parking , and fire rings. Be cautious of the dangers of rising water due to the pg&e powerhouses (flows can increase at any moment).
Austin H — Google review
If you're looking for some beautiful scenery, then look no further. We loved the drive through the canyon! We tried fishing the river but didn't catch any fish. That's why they call it fishing, lol. Would drive this route again in a heartbeat.
Joshua T — Google review
Absolutely beautiful drive through the canyon. A lot of construction/repair going on. That just leaves more time to get out and take some pictures on your way.
Merton P — Google review
Beautiful drive to take. Beldon Town has an amazing bar and restaurant too!!!
LivinHigelife — Google review
A lovely, scenic drive. The area was devastated by the Dixie Fire, so there are still a couple of hold-ups along the highway, but the area is looking better. The Feather River is beautiful and there are many tiny towns still dotting the route. There are plenty of turnouts to enjoy views or get ice cream.
Raybies F — Google review
Very beautiful drive. It's a shame some of the trails are damages since the last fire, but still very fun to explore

Historical landmark

Honey Run Covered Bridge & Park is a beautifully restored historic covered bridge located in Butte County, California. Built in 1886 to connect Butte Creek Canyon to Paradise Ridge during the gold rush, it now serves as a pedestrian walkway within the scenic Honey Run Covered Bridge Park. The park offers picnic spots and a relaxing setting for visitors to enjoy.
I love this place. I have to go down to my town where I was born in paradise. California and I also had to go visit the honey run road bridge it's a very beautiful place
Rosemary J — Google review
I never got to see the original bridge prior to its destruction from the Camp Fire in 2018. I have been wanting to see the newly finished replacement since it opened this year. I was impressed with the new one. They did a wonderful job.
Glen M — Google review
The bridge was redone beautifully. The bathrooms were clean and open. There isn't much parking and access is a bit rough for disabled folks. We also found there to be ticks near the water. Views were great though.
Dionna F — Google review
We are lucky to have residents in the Centerville area that were committed to restoring the bridge. It really turned out great. It's a landmark that needed to be rebuilt.
Mark C — Google review
I am a Filipino and married an American man here at the honey run bridge. This is my experience when my boyfriends asked me if I wanted to get married on the bridge my answer was YES but I didn't know where, when we arrived at the honey run bridge I said why are we here the bridge is rotten but I didn't know this bridge was so memorable. I am happy to be part of the memories here. Here is my married photo with my spouse's best friend, the pastor, and my friend. Come join us!!

It took me about 2 hours to do the 6 mile drive through because I love to stop and soak in , view all the flora and fauna. There was a big jack rabbit hopping around, hawks, ducks and geese. If you want to do the 2 mile walking trails bring mosquito repellent and or mosquito face nets as the trail is next to water. A beautiful place to enjoy, I bought an annual pass so I can see different seasonal views.

This place is great! Not too far from the city of Sacramento by car. A great place for bird watching and photography. Some small hiking paths and a visitor's center. It's $6 for the auto tour only but you can get an annual pass for $12. A worthwhile service of the federal government and a place worth protecting.
Ann S — Google review
A fabulous bird refuge. It was high wind today so most of the birds were grounded, but we saw a large number of a big variety of ducks, geese and other waterfowl. I plan to come back in the fall migration season. The car loop is fabulous with great views and places to stop and stretch. Beautiful! Next time I'll comb the observation tower.
Sharlene N — Google review
We took a day trip to the Colusa area to see the migrating waterfowl and birds of all kinds. Birds as far as your eyes can see in some places. There’s 5 preserves in the area. Most you can hike and/or drive through. Nice areas to view the wildlife. Beautiful!
Sharyn L — Google review
Great place to do some birding. We took the auto tour and saw pelicans, grebes, stilts, Geese, shoveles, pheasants, jack rabbits, deer, kestrals, harriers, cormarants, warblers, and much more!
Jason H — Google review
Beautiful area to visit in the winter. Home to a wide variety of migratory birds and other wildlife. We were lucky to see river otters and a badger. We also got to see a bald eagle which was pretty amazing. The auto tour is the highlight. The visitor center was closed and being repaired. The trail close to the visitor center was a nice walk but we did not see many birds or other wildlife on the walk.
Shankar R — Google review
Fabulous 6 mile auto tour right off highway 5. I understand there’s even more birds if you go in the fall, I went for the wildflowers and was not disappointed.
Laurie M — Google review
We love coming here and doing the car loop. Great place to view multiple different species of birds. Plenty of clean bathrooms and places to stretch your legs. New visitor center. Bought the annual pass.

Very knowledgeable tour guide. We did the basic 45 minute free tour, which ends with four different samples of their delicious beer. I will definitely go back and take one of the longer tours. Place has an amazing history. Highly recommended.

Great tour, Emily knew her history and brewing process. What a huge place! Tastings were lovely.

Having been on beer tours all over the US, Sierra Nevada's remains one of the best. Informative, casual, and really lets you get into the mix of things more than others.

I meet with customers here a few times a year. The food is great! The staff always seem so happy and helpful. But you know, beer is involved, so I guess I would be happy all the time too! 😉

We had a blast doing the Still the One tour. The group was relatively smaller and led by a knowledgeable tour guide. We received a few beers on the tour, got an inside look at the rest of the brewery, and learned a lot! Our favorite part was drinking straight out of the tap with fresh beer only brewed about 3 days ago. We’ve done the local tour here but this is definitely worth the $25 walking away with a crowler, goodie bag, and a ride on the Time Machine!
Emily E — Google review
I had a delicious lunch at their restaurant then took the brewery tour. We had Emily guide us through the brewery which started with a beer sample and she was very knowledgeable. The 45 min tour ends with beer also. I highly recommend this tour and lunch. 5 stars

Lower Bidwell Park is a picturesque oasis that offers an abundance of tree-lined paths perfect for walking and biking, making it an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts. Families can enjoy the various picnic areas, playgrounds, and shallow swimming spots along Chico Creek. With lifeguards on duty during summer months, it's a safe haven for water play, especially in the designated toddler area where little ones can splash around in low water.
It made me want to move there! And we were just at one spot of the 11 mile journey!! Loved it.people were way nicer than in my hometown.much love and respect for the area!!

Lovely place for recreation. Theres lots of birds here so its good for birdwatching or casual walking, not as good for mountain biking
Sam W — Google review
Such a beautiful park with tons of shaded areas and space for the family. During the summer they have lifeguards. There is a snack bar, restrooms for you to rinse off, a nice creek next to the pool and a toddler area (water is very low for kiddos to enjoy 🥰). Plenty of picnic tables and you have a park next to it plus plenty of hiking and paved trails

It's a beautiful day today and as the sun is beginning it's slow descent the bright and warm colors of summer, the sound of the creek rushing by me...it just feels like home. I would not want to live anywhere else on Earth but Chico, right her and right now...

Farmers Markets
Chico Certified Farmers Market (CCFM) is a local market in Chico, offering a wide range of organic produce, handcrafted items, and products from local artisans and farmers. Operating year-round on Saturdays and Wednesdays, the market features freshly picked fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts, honey, olive oil, meats, eggs, artisan breads as well as prepared foods. Additionally available are handmade crafts including jewelry and clothing.
This is by far the best Farmers Market.. you almost have to visit it in person to understand and feel the vibe it's such a nostalgic feeling and let alone the amazing variety of high-quality fruits and vegetables
B. K — Google review
Chico Certified Farmers Market is a vibrant community hub for fresh, local produce. Spanning a wide variety of seasonal goods, it consistently delivers on quality and variety. From plump, organic fruits to artisanal cheeses, the selection is impressive. Friendly vendors, often the growers themselves, offer a personal touch, sharing insights and recipe ideas. It's a delightful place to engage with the agricultural heartbeat of Chico. The market's atmosphere is lively, with live music and a buzzing crowd, making it an ideal weekend outing. Prices can lean towards premium, but the quality justifies it. Whether you're a foodie or simply seeking wholesome groceries, this market is a must-visit.

Love the Saturday morning market. Fresh fruits and veggies from local frams. Local artisans and musicians. Also lots of various food ready to eat. Baked goods from Sweet Cottage are the best. Sweet Cottage line is always long. If you get Robin’s number you can order whole pies and quiches ahead of time. The pie pan has a five dollar deposit.

This Farmers Market is a pretty good size. Lots of Fresh fruits, vegetables, and even some gorgeous floral booths. I stumbled across a lady that did frozen prepared Sicilian food as well....if I didn't have an hours drive I would have bought some. It's worth the trip out.

Love this small yet everything you need farmers market. Where else can you taste Sierra Nevada, get some delicious sea food then stumble over to some Indian food. Tons of plants and other household goods not just food. I highly suggest the olives from Adams ranch specifically the habanero stuffed one's make a tasty martini.

Very adorable, interesting, and robust farmers market. Much larger and better layout that the one in Fresno that I’m used to. All the basics (and plenty to choose from) covered-cheese, honey, produce, fresh and cured meats, multiple coffee and tea vendors and much more! They had a few people performing acoustic music as well. Very charming! A must visit on a Chico weekend. Great location in Downtown too, lots to see and do nearby.

Bidwell Mansion | State Historic Park is a stunning estate located in an Italianate Victorian mansion that was previously owned by John and Annie Bidwell. The park encompasses both the beautiful mansion and its surrounding grounds which are perfect for wandering around. Although the house museum itself is closed most days, visitors can check the schedule before visiting to ensure it's open. This fun-filled park is adjacent to a school and touring the mansion with a guide provides immense interest due to its historical background.
Lots of great California history inside! Mr. Bidwell played a big part in building California and the city of Chico. The mansion is full of lots of fun artifacts, and is very well kept I highly suggest taking a tour.
Bartellj — Google review
It was a great tour. The tour guides were nice and answered all the questions anyone had. But you want to know why it's temporarily closed. Because some stupid peace of garbage burnt it to the ground. My grandma lives in Chico. I'm visiting her right now. When I drove past it, everything except the bricks was gone. ALL OF IT!!!!

Beautiful plantation style mansion right next to California State University Chico! Three guided tours a day, $6.00 per person! Due to a other commitment that we did not have the opportunity to visit, but hopefully there will be other opportunities to visit again!

I loved going to this mansion as a child. Though very saddened that it burned, it was very interesting to see it as it is now. More history lost.

Much better than I expected. Also, make sure you make reservations in advance! They were booked up when we went, but Murphy was kind enough to squeeze us in anyway. Murphy was fantastic! So much knowledge, and personal experience growing up here and watching the renovations progress. I can't think of anywhere else that you can get that much for $6!

Auto Race Tracks
3-mile, 15-turn road course for autos & motorcycles, offering open test days & driving courses.
An amazing course with good people making for a good vibe. Tricky and off camber in places and fast and flat out in others. There is also an ‘off the map’ supercharger that is likely not publicly accessible but is there for EV track users.
Kris K — Google review
Excellent low key track with helpful, caring staff. This is a great venue for more reasonably priced track days for clubs. Great place for beginners and amateur racers due to minimal concrete barriers. If you push too hard and get off track, you go farming, maybe getting some dirt in your splitter. Plenty of covered corral areas to keep you out of the sun when not on track The only reason for the 4 stars is that it is a low-key, lower priced track, and therefore does not have a lot of updated amenities. It's location is about 40 miles too far away from the Bay Area making it less convenient.
Hanns U — Google review
I was invited by Darrell Anderson AV8 Super Cars @av8.supercars of Sears Point Raceway, to attend my first high-performance "Drift" event. Thunderhill has a lot to offer. I had the time of my life. The drift cars are incredible. The speed that they course through the track is incredible. I love the noise and the smoking tires. The AV8 Team lead by "Double Barrel Darrell" is off the hook. They did 5 sessions per day, and every time, they had to put on a new set of rear tires. These guys ruled the track. Another highlight of my experience was the hot laps around the track in the brand new ZO6 C8 Corvette. Professional driver Nick Beisert @grip_addict set the track on fire. Yeah, he had the pedal to the metal, the rpm's, 8,600 revolutions per minute, maxed out, buried, with the tires smoking in every turn. He started at the back of the pack and safely passed every single car at an extremely high rate of speed. He did not want to hurt me, so he kept asking, "Nitros, are you alright? Are you okay?" Every time the answer was "yes". Then he'd take it to the next level until no levels were left. We were ripping around the track like a jet fighter. When we were totally maxed out, I was extremely quiet. He asked me what I was doing. I told him "yoga" :-). I think I made a new friend. Love the experience. Nick is a good guy with a great family that supports him. Try it, you'll like it. I loved it.

Awesome Track with Great Variety! Thunderhill Raceway is a fantastic track with a mix of high-speed straights, technical corners, and elevation changes. The surface is well-maintained, and the multiple configurations keep things exciting. It’s a great place for both beginners and experienced drivers to push their limits. Facilities are solid, and the staff is friendly. Definitely one of the best tracks in California!

I do a lot of motorcycle track days here. The track is decent, bathrooms are clean, food is good. I do wish they had electrical under the awnings. Makes it difficult to run tire warmers without running a genny all day long.

An unexpectedly amazing time in an out-of-the-way winery. We went with low expectations, but the bar has now been set so high - beyond reach. Thank you, Matt (et al), for the history and wine education. Most especially to the brothers for all you do. The winery is wonderful, but the church is also spectacular. Don't miss any of it! Take your time and drink it all in.
Dyanne R — Google review
This beautiful and scenic winery is a must stop when visiting the Chico, CA area. They have delicious wines offered for tasting and purchase in the winery tasting room. Thank you, Ben! Many of the grapes used are grown on site. The abbey and vineyards hold a prominent place in US history, all of which you can learn about during an entertaining tour with the engaging Brother Luis Cortez. After the tour, strolling the well kept grounds and visiting the monastic buildings and gift shop was a peaceful break from busy urban centers.

Our Friday excursion led us to the picturesque setting of New Clairvaux Vineyard, where we embarked on a delightful journey of wine tasting. This vineyard is nestled amidst serene surroundings and offers an enchanting escape for wine enthusiasts seeking excellence. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the hospitable staff, whose passion for wine was evident in their informative and welcoming demeanor. Their knowledge added depth to our tasting experience, enhancing our appreciation for our sampled wines. New Clairvaux Vineyard boasts a diverse selection of reds and whites, catering to various palates. As someone who typically leans towards red wines, I was pleasantly surprised by the exceptional quality of their white wines. I was so impressed that I ended up purchasing two bottles to enjoy later. Beyond the exquisite wines, the New Clairvaux Vineyard has a rich history that adds a layer of intrigue to the tasting experience. Founded on the grounds of a historic monastery, the vineyard's roots trace back to the 12th century, when the monks first began cultivating grapes in this sacred setting. Today, that legacy lives on as the vineyard continues producing unparalleled wines steeped in tradition and craftsmanship. Our visit to New Clairvaux Vineyard left a lasting impression, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow wine enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or a novice explorer, this vineyard offers an unforgettable experience that celebrates the timeless artistry of winemaking. We eagerly anticipate our next visit, eager to indulge in the treasures that await at New Clairvaux Vineyard.

We stopped in on a whim while heading home from vacation, and I’m so glad we did! This place is truly a gem. The rich history adds a fascinating backdrop to the experience, and the knowledgeable staff made our visit even more enjoyable. They were eager to share insights about the wines and the region, which really enhanced our tasting. Speaking of the wine, it was absolutely delicious! Each sip was a delight, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable for such quality. Overall, this was a unique experience that I highly recommend. If you’re in the area, don’t miss the chance to visit!

Beautiful church on the grounds! The story is interesting about how the vineyard was started. The tasting room was closing when I visited, so my tasting was a bit rushed. But it was definitely worth a visit anyway! The Tempernillo was my favorite.

Ordered a Shrimp Po Boy Sandwich. Delicious. We ate up at the bar. Gal was very nice & friendly. Checked into our room for a quick night after a long day of traveling. Having already sung the praises of Rolling Hills’ incredible restaurants and lively bars, it’s only fair to spotlight the crown jewel of the experience: the rooms and service. Simply put, they exceed expectation at every turn. From the moment you check in, you’re met with service that feels less like hospitality and more like genuine care. Every detail in the room speaks of pride and precision with spotless cleanliness, crisp linens, and a layout that offers both comfort and calm after a day of casino excitement. It’s rare to find a resort where convenience is woven so seamlessly into the experience. A short stroll connects you effortlessly to the casino floor, entertainment, and amenities, yet the rooms themselves remain a quiet retreat, insulated from the buzz. If you want a stay that lets you indulge, recharge, and feel truly looked after, Rolling Hills delivers it in spades.

I am happy with the Fat burger inside. They have Trucker and RV parking 👍. They have a gas station. Always clean and stocked. The casino has fun games and I have always won when going. Bathrooms are always clean. Definitely a smaller casino from what I am used to but, it’s kinda a small town. I have not been to Rockin Brews yet but, I have eaten at the cafe and I was happy. Rolling Hills Casino is hands down one of the best casino experiences I’ve had! From the moment I walked through the doors, the staff made me feel welcome and well taken care of. The atmosphere is lively but not overwhelming, and everything is kept clean and comfortable, which really makes the whole visit enjoyable. The gaming floor has a great mix of slot machines and table games, so whether you’re a casual player or someone who likes to dive into the action, there’s something for everyone. I also appreciated how attentive the dealers and attendants were — they’re friendly, helpful, and really make sure you’re having a great time. The food options are excellent, too! Delicious meals, generous portions, and quick service. It’s super convenient to grab something tasty without having to leave the fun. Overall, I left with a big smile and can’t wait to go back. Rolling Hills Casino goes above and beyond with customer service, entertainment, and a fun, relaxing environment. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great night out or a weekend getaway!

Nice casino. Lots of games on an spacious floor, grab-&-go or sit-&-dine food choices as well as hotel room service accommodations available upon request, two separate hotel wings with pool access to hotel guests, huge parking lot, casino is located next door to a truck stop, RV Resort, gas station/convenience store (slots can even be found inside the mini market), hotel golf club with a huge grassy field, and even a rodeo ground for annual events, etc. Friendly staff, clean and well maintained casino, several large restroom facilities regularly attended to... everything you'd expect from a casino. I believe they recently upgraded their players card system to accommodate credit/debit cards directly on the machines, which is bitter sweet. Above all, positive experiences during my past visits. I look forward to going back again!

Awesome! The factory is right there. We arrived out of season, but the maintenance manager was there and gave us an impromptu tour of the whole facility, with the classic Italian machinery! Super fun and informative.

Really great selection of olive oils and vinaigrettes! We really appreciate the recommendation of the woman who helped us when we arrived - lemon olive oil, who knew that was a thing! Finding it was a little confusing, you have to walk along the right side of the building, go through the first door you come to, and the store is through the warehouse.

The building is the warehouse and not inviting at all. The tasting room is not fancy and just one small room. That being said, we loved the man (dang it forgot his name) who sold us on almost everything available. The oils were so good and the infused garlic amazing. We also bought fruit balsamic vinegar. Nestled just south of Red Bluff along the I-5 freeway, Olive Pit is a delightful pit stop that every traveler should consider during their journey. This expansive shop offers an impressive array of olive-related products, including various olive oils and vinegars, alongside a self-serve condiment bar for customizing your meals. The tasting bar is a highlight where you can sample an assortment of olives before indulging in delicious menu items like their famous BLT or burgers loaded with olives.
It was super quick and really delicious, especially the milkshake with almond butter. Just make sure to grab the toppings for the Build-Your-Own on the side — they’re right next to the pickup area. I missed when they called out my burger because the staff member spoke very fast and it was hard to understand, but we figured it out and had a great meal

Excellent roadside “pit stop” featuring free olive tastings, interesting snacks and gifts, friendly staff, and clean bathrooms. Wide variety of olive products such as oils, stuffed olives, jams and candies, cosmetics, tchotchkes and gifts. The free olive tasting bar is self-operated. Step right up to experience a variety of familiar and new flavors such as Beer, Texas Hot Chili, Garlic Stuffed, Almond Stuffed, Anchovy Stuffed, and more. Large, shady parking lot surrounded by olive trees.

Passing through from Oregon and seen this olive store that sells olives that are grown from near by trees and they had pretty good selection including olives marinated in beer. Also have Olive oil, you can even sample some of them both. There is also a small area here that sells burgers and sandwiches.

Great pit stop (pun intended) between Sacramento and Redding. There's an olive tasting bar, including olive oils and balsamic vinegars. We discovered the Manton wine trail while on a trip to Lassen national Park. Alger vineyards tasting room is located in the middle of grape Vines with great views from the second story tasting area. We met the owners and they were eager to spark up conversation, making us feel right at home. The wine was tasty and we ended up taking home a bottle of port. Highly recommend making a stop here if you are searching for great wine in a small, personal setting g.

John and Linda were incredibly inviting! It’s a very intimate setting and all the wine’s were very good, especially the Celebration Red and the 2019 Malbec, we ended up buying bottles of both because they are just that good! I highly recommend going to check them out in the cute little town of Manton, it’s worth the drive!

Of all the organic wines I have tried, Algers is the superior brand! Every variety is excellent, whether it be red, white or desert. It is a family run small winery and is located in the northern California vicinity of Lassen Volcanic National Park. You can have their wine delivered to your home and will be amazed with the velvety texture of hand-made wines! Try a bottle of the Reserve and experience the rare experience of organic perfection!

we were among the first wine club members and watched Alger wine go from good to great and now several of his wines are exceptional. A friendly tasting room, beautiful views over the vineyard and a pleasant outside patio. You will not be disappointed. This is the crown jewel of the Manton wineries

Sure, I live in Manton, since 2019....but I just discovered this amazing winery recently. While not a wine aficionado, I did work as a grape sampler for Constellation in and around Paso Robles.....so I know a little bit about wine. I cannot wait to take friends and family to this hidden gem I happen to live near!! While their Cabernet is award winning and seductive, their mourvèdre is beyond words from this mere consumer and average Jane. I'm going back this week to buy several bottles as gifts.

Alger is a great place to go relax and taste their wonderful wine. Very peaceful and fun atmosphere.

Great wine and the food was really tasty. My friends and I had a awesome time. I'm going back for sure. The owner's were very nice hard working people.

The Central Valley is an extensive valley and farming area stretching for around 450 miles. It produces over half of the United States' produce, making it a significant agricultural region. Despite being mainly flat, it boasts excellent fishing spots, world-renowned wine grape fields, and well-connected freeways. Additionally, it is home to California's capital and contains a substantial amount of the state's water reserves. Its agricultural output by value makes up eight percent of the nation's total output.
Is a beautyful place i like to much

The central valley may be flat, but it's got it where it counts. Great fishing, great farming, and great freeways. It's the home of California's capitol, much of the state's water reserves, and 8 percent of the nation's agricultural output by value, not to mention some of the best wine grapes in the world.
Derek B — Google review
The Central Valley is not very beautiful. It is quite hazy, especially near Bakersfield, and there is not much to see except for the occasional mountain, most often blocked by haze. It is very flat, with not much natural appeal. On the other hand, it produces amazing products. Bakersfield oranges are the freshest and juiciest I have ever had, and Fresno’s sugarcane is delicious. While the cities themselves do not have much to offer, the surrounding farmlands definitely do. Scenery: 2/10 Products: 9/10

Specialty Museums
Gaumer’s is truly a gem in Red Bluff! We love picking out raw geodes and having them cut open for a small fee, it is so much fun to see what is inside. A highlight of our trips to Northern California and the perfect souvenir. Perfect stop on your way to Mt. Lassen.

Huge store with a ton of museum quality displays. They’ve got a great selection of both rough and polished pieces. I could have spent hours (and several hundred dollars) here. Friendly and helpful staff. Can’t wait to come back!
Topher B — Google review
The best place to get your specimens, slabs, rough, and supplies for your Lapidary needs and they do jewelry repair and cleaning and have a nice selection of jewelry. Everyone who works there is a mass of knowledge and very friendly a must see collection for anyone starting rockhound to experienced miner.
Jeffrey A — Google review
You definitely want to give yourself enough time to look through the museum and the store because it's filled with so many amazing rocks and fossils. The dark room in the museum section is so cool. My parents have purchased quite a few pieces of jewelry from Gaumers, and it's all beautiful. Seeing the store in person was really a treat. The jewelry is beautiful and reasonably priced. The women who worked there were friendly and attentive as well. I will be making it a point to stop in every time I'm in Northern CA. Updated October 2023*- Gaumer's is still just as lovely and has added a new room within the museum area, which is a must-see.

When my dad was a kid he grew up in Red Bluff and played around at the Gaumer's gem shop. He learned a lot there from the family and he brought us up there when we went out to visit his side of our family. The ownere there were very nice and remembered him and were able to catch up. Their rock museum has many awesome educational examples of precious stones and ancient artifacts! They have several examples of Native American arrowheads, petrified wood, many mortars and pestles, as well as a display of old gold-mining equipment. They have a special dark room set up where you can shine different wavelength UV light onto reactive stones and see them glow, as well as a beautiful backlight display of slab agates and other kinds of stones that kids can look into detail in. We came with our younger cousin who seemed to really enjoy looking at all the stones. They also have many examples of precious stones sculptures from many different artistic traditions, cultures, and methods. Definitely a place to visit if you're going through to the mountains to learn about the terrain around Lassen, Shasta, or Tehama county in general.

Beautiful and relaxing place to watch the wild horses munch on hay. In the late fall their natural feeding is being supplemented with hay. A good time for viewing is around 11 am when they are down the hill to feed. Call the number to schedule an appointment to watch these wild horses. There is a small gift store where you can grab a t-shirt or hat and leave a donation.

If you've never owned a ranch, but have always wanted to, this is a great place to get a taste. The team has reached wild horses and burros from the Bureau of Land Management and really created a special place to enjoy these beautiful animals. Tours are from 11AM - 3PM (maybe just covid hours) and are guided by volunteer staff. We had a very knowledgeable guide that gave us an in depth look at horse & burro care and answered all of our questions. The place does take donations, so please give after your tour - and also has a small shop where you can get merch. If you're on the way to/from Lassen (which we were), it's definitely worth a stop.

My experience with Wild Horse Sanctuary is only through my daughter, Hallie Bates. She has told me all about her experiences when she visited you and has shown me all the pictures from there. I've been sending donations to a Wild Burrow rescue, so I'd love to help you out as well. I'm glad to know you're around for the horses. I wasn't aware of your quest.

Friendly people, horses are well kept and offer rides that fulfill intermediate to professional riders's expectations. The horses are full of life and show you a good time. Sacramento River Bend Area

Hiking Trails
Great walking trail along the river with some nice flowers & rock formations, it’s also really nice to see that there are bird houses of different sizes along the trails. The trail wasn’t packed at all & we saw one other hiker. We didn’t hike the whole trail, it seemed a bit long for our mid-day walk but it’s so nice to have these trails nearby. The trails are a bit skinny & you have to go off the min trail due to overgrown dead brush but the trail is fairly easy & well maintained.

I only did one trail but have more saved. Peaceful and beautiful but sadly I'll have to pick up other people's trash. Pack in and pack out and then some!! Turn off your phone and enjoy the sounds of nature.

Stopped here for a stretch. There are covered picnic tables, trails, and restrooms. The restrooms were ok. Toilet paper on the floor but not too gross. Lots of visitors here. It's a clean rest area. You can access the river from here.

Win-River Resort & Casino

Casinos & Gambling
The Win-River Resort & Casino is a laid-back event venue with clean and comfortable rooms, great food, reasonably priced drinks and seasoned bartenders. Guests can enjoy live entertainment, a golf course and a pool. The cafe bar offers cheap drinks and great people watching on weekend nights. The resort also has a nice hot tub and gym facilities for guests to use. However, some guests have expressed disappointment with the slot machines, wishing they were more generous in payouts.
I had the pleasure of staying here two different occasions in the same week. The rooms were always clean, spacious and the beds were comfortable. They have a heated outdoor pool, hot tub and mini waterfall. Plenty of access areas (with your hotel key card) around pool. A walking trail behind as well. Lots of parking and handicap parking available. Hotel rooms were not a far walk from the casino side. The elevators worked great as well. I enjoyed myself at the casino. They had a good selection of games. The restaurant had good food and there was bars all around to get drinks quickly, no matter where you were playing. The staff very friendly and super helpful! The only complaint I have is that we didn’t get a pull out bed in requested rooms. Staff brought a roll out bed and extra comforters and pillows. It was just as comfy or better and fit perfectly. Thank you for making our stay great.
Jess Q — Google review
We were just passing through and needed a place to stay, and this turned out to be one of the best casino experiences I’ve ever had. My wife and I opted for the romance package, and it was absolutely worth it. The free play alone covered the cost, and we were treated to a bottle of wine and beautifully romantic room decorations. The food was excellent—highly recommend the calzone, which was more than enough for both of us. The bars were lively, and the bartenders made the experience even better with their friendly service. We also took advantage of the pool and hot tub, which added a relaxing touch to our stay.

Win River Casino is a massive property with plenty of space both inside and out. Parking is plentiful and easy, which makes visiting stress-free from the start. The casino floor itself is very large, with rows of slot machines and table games that keep it busy and lively. One thing I appreciated was the attention to cleanliness-hand sanitizer stations and masks were available throughout the property. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the overall atmosphere felt welcoming. The connected hotel also makes it convenient for out-of-town guests, with clean and comfortable rooms just steps away from the gaming floor. That said, the smoke inside is definitely noticeable, which can be a drawback if you're sensitive to it. Like most casinos, the focus is heavily on slots and table games, so there isn't much beyond that in terms of entertainment variety. I was lucky enough to double my money while I was there, which made the visit more exciting, but I also realized casinos just aren't really my thing. Still, for anyone who enjoys gaming and wants a full-service experience with easy access, solid amenities, and helpful staff, Wind River delivers a good overall visit.

Honestly probably the worst experience gaming I've had. Tonight I am losing right out of the gate so im heading out an play one more machine on a 2.00 max bet for that game an it gives me a 7 free spin bonus and pays out 0.00!? On a max bet for a bonus??? Crazy its like this all the time here id go to corning if I could. Cleaner bathrooms better games and you can get your own drinks! Way better experience even when you loose!!
Travis M — Google review
Slot options were good and food is good. Wished they had more food options. Rooms were clean but no security. A random person followed us to our floor and turn back when they saw us go into our room. Very scary. A lot of homeless outside and inside the casino. Many people sitting on slot machines not playing or with 1 dollar in the machine so that they can stay inside the casino. I don't recommend going there alone.
Queens A — Google review
Nice well kept casino floors and great parking access easy to get in and out of as far as location but for some reason staff are not friendly and they r not traveler friendly dew to not allowing me or my family member to have or travel backpack that Carrie our medication and medical supplies and or hygiene with us. When we approached the front desk we were greated with additude and rude unnecessary comments like well this isn't navada or Arizona so because I mentioned that we live in Arizona trip state and travel to Vegas and that we were unaware of the RULES of the casino and we are not trying to piss off anyone and apologize for the inconvenience of us being there. I have no intention on going back would rather travel to corning casino where we r greated with smile and appreciation for being guests
Nicole P — Google review
Smaller casino but right off a main road in Redding. Parking was open in the first row when we went in the later afternoon. Had no problems getting drinks at our machines. Left with winnings. Didn't stay in the resort part just played some slots. Very clean and noticable security at the front door made it feel safe, like had we won just a tad over what we did security would have walked us to the car. Had a lot of fun here.

The rooms desperately need to be updated! And cleaned much better than they are! Our room smells like urine! We recommend avoiding the restaurant! Absolutely disgusting food! They served us spoiled coleslaw!

This park features a captivating museum showcasing both permanent and temporary exhibits that delve into the region's cultural, artistic, and scientific heritage. Visitors can explore interactive displays, admire local artworks, or even step inside a recreated Native American bark house. A Magical Night at Glowing Wild – Redding’s Radiant Hidden Gem If you’re looking for a night of wonder, beauty, and unforgettable memories in Redding, look no further than Glowing Wild. This lantern festival is unlike anything else in Northern California—an awe-inspiring blend of art, nature, and light that feels straight out of a fairytale. From the moment you step through the entrance, you're transported into a dreamlike world filled with giant illuminated sculptures. Towering tigers, graceful dolphins, luminous butterflies, and glowing floral arches line the walking paths, each more breathtaking than the last. The colors are vivid, the craftsmanship is exquisite, and the atmosphere is pure magic. What makes Glowing Wild truly special is how it transforms the familiar landscape of Turtle Bay and the McConnell Botanical Gardens into something otherworldly. The lanterns are perfectly placed to complement the natural surroundings, and as the sun sets, the entire area begins to glow with warmth and wonder. The iconic Sundial Bridge lit up in the background only adds to the surreal beauty.

What a fun family trip!! We are from southern Oregon and decided to check out Redding for the first time, with this being our first stop… and it did NOT disappoint!!! Everybody had an amazing time, my daughter is 12 and my son is 5 and both of them said that it was the best day. Beautiful well maintained landscaping and animal enclosures, extremely friendly staff. Tons of free giveaway stuff, perfect entertainment for the little ones! You can feed parrots - so fun! And during season you can go inside the butterfly house. It was extremely hot and humid when we went, it would have been nice if they had misters along the walkway/benches but other than that, such a fun memorable experience and we will definitely be back!!! Highly recommend

The park is 5 stars easy, very beautiful area, the museum I would give 3.5. It's interesting, not too big but I liked the birds and was there was a Steam Punk exhibit which was nice. The remaining areas were nice but somewhat limited. Some of the animals are in rather small enclosures. It's a bit expensive for a family visiting and maybe getting a souvenir or two. Older kids may get bored after an hour and for $22 each it would not be worth it. I recommend going to the park, hiking, enjoying the bridge, nature, and the many wild animals you can find in the park. I saw deer and a skunk among other things.
Remey R — Google review
This experience was amazing. There are so many things to do included in the admission fee. Our favorites were the dinosaur exhibit, butterfly house, and the bird house. Aside from the favorites everything else was great also. Something fun is that most of the exhibits have things for kids to touch. Hands on learning is when my daughter has the most fun so I appreciated this experience.

This place was amazing! Outdoor play areas and shows teaching kids about the wildlife in the park and within the area. The highlight for my kids were the butterfly conservatory and the parrot house - the kids got to look at both close up and really enjoyed identifying the different types. The train was also fun, and takes you over the Sundial bridge, which is beautiful! There's plenty of parking and the staff were really friendly and helpful. All in all, a good full day of fun with the kids :)

Sundial Bridge is a stunning architectural gem that gracefully spans the Sacramento River, designed by the renowned Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. This pedestrian bridge not only serves as a vital link between Turtle Bay Exploration Park's museum and its beautiful Arboretum and Gardens but also acts as a gateway to Redding’s expansive Sacramento River National Recreation Trail.
This place was very cool! We've got to go back when we have more time. Parking is free, which is great and there is plenty of it. The park is huge... there are electric scooters and bikes you can rent to ride around. There were a lot of people just on leisurely evening strolls. My wife and I went by the lake and just sat for a few after taking our time across the bridge. It was an absolutely beautiful view on both sides. There were kayakers and tubers on the river. It was also doggy walking hour 🤭 Plenty of furry friends enjoying a stroll. Very peaceful place. There apparently is a restaurant on site as well but we went too late. 😣 next time !

Beautiful place to just sit and relax. The river flowing below has a wide bank and feels magical with the water stream resembling raindrops on the surface. It's pretty cool on a summer evening. Lots of people (not overcrowded) and friendly families around. The car park is extremely close, so it's not much of a hassle to walk it up.
Shripad K — Google review
Do visit this place if you visit Redding. The whole bridge is lit up at night making it a surreal experience. They also have bikes and scooters that you can rent. Bike rentals felt cheaper than the scooters. Many scenic trails besides the river. So take your time and have fun exploring the place. Sunday they had the farmers market setup.

This cool, architectural wonder in Redding is at Turtle Bay Exploration Park is super cool. Use the QR code at the beginning for an audio guided tour with lots of cool information as you walk across. The Sundial Bridge is a beautiful spot with a great view of the water. It’s a relaxing place to walk, and there’s plenty for kids to enjoy. The nearby museum and park make it even better, offering both fun and learning opportunities. A wonderful place for a family outing. After parking there is a nice river and picnic area as well but it’s not clean space while I visited, this area isn’t connected to the bridge so not to worry!

The Redding Sundial Bridge is a magnificent engineering masterpiece. It is the largest working sundial in the world that is most accurate during the solstices and its shadow accurately tracks time daily from approximately 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The Sundial Bridge was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The walkway has stunning views of the Sacramento River with all its wildlife and spectacular scenic views of the mountains.
Simona V — Google review
Very beautiful bridge day and nite. The only down side was there isn't much other things to do around, which makes our driving distance of about 4 hours each way not really worth it. I'd say it's a great attraction if you live closer or if you are on the way to somewhere else on a road trip, or here for hiking or rafting. The hotel right next to it is not worth it's value. I would recommend to stay a little further and save some money. The only value of it was the walking distance to the bridge. (Star did not deduct for this cause the main review was for the attraction)

Sights & Landmarks
Bethel Church Redding is a modern Evangelist church and school known for its lively weekend services featuring devotional music. The church aims to prepare people for an encounter with the Lord rather than focusing on famous personalities, as seen in their Sunday evening services. Despite some negative reviews, many visitors have found the guest speakers to be humble and touched by God's presence. Some have even been moved by sermons from influential figures like Bill Johnson.
A must visit if you are passing by if you live in town and are in search of a home church. We travelled from Canada to attend a Sunday service and it did not disappoint. The worship is beautiful and the message is always on point. Kids ministry is beautiful. We went to the 8 am service which was great.

This is such an awesome church and so God inspiring and I'm on a healing quest to get away from dysfunctional people and originally I was just going to go to Southern Oregon and then cut West, but now I'm making a pilgrimage to Redding just to catch the service at Bethel this morning, and I am so pumped!! I've been hiding out in Mount Shasta to escape the heat, and God woke me up at 3:30 this morning, and I'm originally from Minnesota, and the time there would have been about 5:30, and through chat GPT this morning when I was getting information about the church times it reminded me about psalms 5:3 "in the morning I lay my request before you, and wait expectantly." Wooooooooo e! God is so good!! Update: I attended the Sunday church on 7.6.25 at 8:00 a.m. and I forget the speaker's name but I have seen him on YouTube before and he was talking about space and the word Surge and it was so awesome and enlightening and informative but also funny and like all the speakers here he is just amazing messenger of God. I got there a little early to grab a coffee and went to the bookstore to get Chuck Perry's "Alignment" book, and who walked in just a minute after I did when I was at the checkout, but Chuck Parry, who greeted me and signed the book. To be honest I've been going through some really tough stuff lately going no contact with my family from realizing how dysfunctional everything was after reading sbout their egomaniacal in narcissistic behavior that happens when you reject God and the books ("Pulling your Strings, "Healing from Narcissistic Abuse" etcetera) described to the letter their selfish behavior, and I got up at 3:30 in Mount Shasta yhe night before so I was a little steep deprived, and so I had trouble staying awake the whole day, but by night time I was an hour east of Eureka, California camping, and I walking along the shore around 9:30 a little bit before I was going to go to sleep, and I was feeling so hopeless and and lost and feeling all alone realizing the only person I have in my life right now is God (but in hindsight that's enough) and I was having some really negative thoughts as I was walking along the shore with Chuck's book, and I opened it and started to read it under the moonlight, and was reminded after reading it that I need to turn to God after reading the first dozen pages or so I prayed and like always something happened that was just enough to give me some encouragement, but I ended up having the most vivid dreams where I had confrontations with my family where I was trying to seek answers and they were dismissing me like usual with the typical labels of sensitive or overreacting, even though I saved all their lives many times by putting my brain and body in harm's way to protect them from my bipolar older brother, and I woke up at 3:30 kicking my limbs around in a rage and I had a mini nervous breakdown where I was heave crying, and filled up about 8 paper towels of snot and tissue, but I started praying and journaling I and felt immediately better, and I'm doing good today and so much better and I'm actually feeling optimistic, but had I not turned to God I would be so broken. Enough about me though, the church was so awesome, and I saw so many kind people with niceness in their eyes and what a great energy that was there, not just from the speakers, but from people attending. I was going to write for people to pray for me but instead because God always heals me and makes me stronger like a bone that is broken when I am broken I will instead ask people to pray for lost sheep like my family who have rejected God in place of their egos. God bless Anyone who reads this and God bless everybody who's hurting and know that God can heal your Brokenness because I have been broken so many times in so many ways and have nothing but God, but that's more than enough and I feel whole now and I know I will be broken again but the next time that happens I'm not going to entertain negative thoughts I'm going to go straight to God and start praying.

Love this place! I travel a long way to come and visit, but can't recommend this church enough. Solid teaching, great tunes, you can really feel the presence of God and the community is so lovely. Really recommend if you're searching to give this place a go.

This church is not just a church…it is a place where the presence of the Lord dwells. You just have to experience it for yourself. So grateful for the way God moves here and the amazing people who work and serve at Bethel. Hope to get to visit here again one day! Incredible place with beautiful views of the mountains and hills. The house of prayer and the beautiful gardens and waterfalls are peaceful and just walking around anywhere on the campus is so beautiful. 🥹🤩😍😍😍

Wow! This church is great and so beautiful! It's kinda scary to start a new church but they bring you right into the community! Once you become a member, perform the ritual and harvest the bloodfiend for the first time, it all becomes clear! This isn't a cult, it's a revolution of light against dark. All hail the bringer of light and knowledge! The defiler shall cleanse your essence and birth the new reapers! HAIL DEEP THANATOS!

So recently, my sweet wife and I visited Bethel Church. We drove over five hours from Central Oregon just to have a time of spiritual refreshment from being in a weary season and I cannot tell you how blessed and encouraged. We were to attend the weekend service and the prayer time on Saturday morning at this time, my spouse and I we are experiencing homelessness because of inflation in the economy and we were treated no differently at the church then if we were rich and had a lot of money, we were not looked down upon or treated any differently or people felt sorry for us. It was such a refreshing experience And it helped us tremendously in so many ways physically mentally spiritually and emotionally cannot say enough good things about Bethel Church in Redding, California.

The first service we attended was a baptism service. People were publicly repenting of, and forsaking, new age practices while being baptized into new life in Christ. Worship was wonderful! The next day Bill Johnson preached a service on repentance and stewarding your heart. Lou Engel was also there preaching about communion. I personally enjoyed reading all the negative reviews on here because Jesus said that that people would say those sorts of things about the people who follow Him (and they also said Jesus was a blasphemer who had a demon). We visited about a year ago, but I thought I’d leave a review after all the bad press they’ve been getting lately. Just goes to show you can’t believe everything you read on the internet.

Thoroughly enjoyed the worship, fellowship and Bible-based teaching. Alabaster Box was incredibly peaceful space. Beautiful grounds.

Bodies of Water
Whiskeytown Lake is a stunning body of water surrounded by magnificent mountains, creeks and waterfalls. It offers a plethora of activities such as boating, fishing and swimming. Camping at this location requires a permit, but there are many other areas to stop in for visitors who wish to do so at their own risk. Visitors are strongly urged to keep the place tidy. Swimming or kayaking in the lake is an amazing experience because the water temperature is just right and the scenery is breathtaking.
The water is warmer the the other nearby lakes and the lake is big enough that, if you look, you can find a secluded place to hang out. We camp at oak bottom every year before the crowds of summer

We love Whismeytown. There are so many locations on this lake to take your family to find a spot to day-chill if you don’t rent a Pontoon to enjoy the lake. The water is clean the views are breathtaking.

Visited the lake in early August, drove right off of Hwy 299, and was able to access the water very easily. The water was clear and the perfect temperature. I wasn’t able to detour to much off my route but I am sure you can find places and beaches with handicap parking and access to the water.

Whiskeytown lake is the most beautiful lake I have ever seen. It is so peaceful there and hard to take your eyes off of every inch of the area. Everywhere you turn there there's something amazing to be discovered. The lookout point by The visitors center is also a great place to see how much already of the lake from one location. from what I understand there are tons of different locations to visit there at the lake that offer different views and scenes. There is a little bit of walking and order to get close to the lake but nothing unreasonable. I highly suggest visiting this specific lake. It would be a shame if anyone had come to Shasta County and did not take a trip to this location. The locals and travelers that have visited here have always had the same reaction of complete awe. Great place for kids as well and it is perfect for hot summer days. I often see people reading books by the lake as well as swimming. Just thinking about it makes me want to go there right now. Is very peaceful and quiet so whatever you looking for I can guarantee you this has something to offer. Be sure to charge your phone because you'll be taking lots of photos and bring food with you as there are not many places around there to grab a bite to eat.

An amazingly beautiful place. We parked in a little layby jist beyond the visitor centre which was quiet and had great views, but you could really walk around from there. It was heart breaking to see to the devastation from the wildfires to one side. Praying for the area and for protectio. From future fires.
