Florida Caverns State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Underground caves offering guided tours, plus trails & freshwater springs.
We enjoyed the guided group tour ($16/ a person). It was both educational and entertaining. The cave offers variety of formations that are very interesting to explore. Some of the cave sections we explored include discovery room, wedding room, divorce and more. The tour is about an hour long and isn’t difficult walk. No food, drinks or handbags are allowed.
Polina B — Google review
The trip was worth it. Affordable, full of things to see and do. We went for the caverns but was able to see the camp sites and stables. The museum and tour are a little aged but in good shape and well run. Likely we're coming back to see more.
William S — Google review
The park is absolutely beautiful. The caverns are so interesting. My only small issue was the tour guide was terribly hard to understand. She didn't enunciate and rambled through like she'd given the speech so many times, she was bored of it. My friend and I kept asking each other what she said. Otherwise, it was a majestic experience. Planning to camp there. You can even bring your horses. Great hiking trails. Highly recommend.
Ashley W — Google review
Very interesting State Park. I had lots of family, especially when I was young that we visited often in Marianna, Florida. I remember going several times as a child and young adult. Now I'm 75 years old and decided it was time to revisit. Was not disappointed. Very nice museum with Three self-activated movies and very professional, accommodating cave tour guides. At 75 I made it just fine 🙂 but if you have any ambulatory concerns, maybe get more detailed information.
Kenneth J — Google review
Amazing stop for your road trip, especially the tour guides made the visit inside the caves even better. Our tour guide Yadi provided us with good engaging content and information about the caves and facts throughout. Absolutely loved it. Will definitely recommend!
Shruti K — Google review
The park is beautiful, the caverns are amazing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. The colored lights are beautiful as well but I would rather photograph the caverns in the natural colors of the structures. The have a small museum, gift shop and restrooms. Detached there is a large food truck and tables.
Raymond P — Google review
We had a fantastic visit to Florida Caverns State Park! From the moment we arrived, the friendly gate worker made us feel welcome and ready for a great day. The parking was a breeze, which made starting our adventure stress-free. Our tour guide, Ann, was exceptionally knowledgeable and so much fun—she really brought the caverns' fascinating features to life and kept us engaged throughout the hour-long tour. The kids loved the swimming hole, which provided a great way to cool off and have some fun in the water. We also appreciated the picnic pavilions, which were perfect for enjoying a relaxed lunch after exploring. The only thing we wished for was more time inside the caverns to fully take in everything they have to offer—it's such a remarkable place, and we couldn’t get enough! Overall, a wonderful family outing with friendly staff, beautiful sights, and lots of fun activities. We can't wait to return and explore more!
Kelly L — Google review
Interesting and informative tour. If you want to see one of the caverns created under FDR and the New Deal this is the place for you! When we visited the temperature was around 20-30 degrees cooler then the outside temperature of 94 degrees. The tour was not too strenuous but you do have to watch your head and steps while walking through. The tour was informative, educational, and beautiful. We had a great time.

Falling Waters State Park Campground

Campground
Nature & Parks
Scenic state park & hiking area featuring a waterfall, sinkholes, campsites & a small lake.
We arrived after 5pm and had to self check-in, which wasn't a difficult process. The campground is small and quiet. Most of the campsites are nicely shaded. Fire rings, picnic tables, water & electric provided. Our site was level and clean.
Alison W — Google review
We camped here two night June 2025. Nice small campground, 24 sites water/electric $18 with fees it was close to $30 night. Two hiking trails, swimming area and the water falls. Discount for Florida seniors. Good TMobile service.
Jerry L — Google review
Not the best day to see the waterfall since it hasn’t rained recently. But still enjoyable. The paths were great and no spiders in the way! Will be coming back when it’s flowing better.
Julie — Google review
The park was super clean. Restrooms and showers were impressive too. We camped in tents and had a wonderful time. Very peaceful and would definitely camp here again. Kudos to the ranger at the gate and the lady cleaning the facilities. Both were very nice and are doing an exceptional job. Thank you for providing such a great park for us!
H G — Google review
Falling Waters State Park offers a clean and quiet campground with a peaceful camping experience. Small playground, featuring only four swings. Short hiking trail that leads to a small lake with a swimming area, though visitors should be aware of the presence of alligators. Bathrooms are well-maintained, with varying water temperatures. Dogs are welcome. Level tent sites. 10/10 recommend checking out this campground.
Effaleff — Google review
What a beautiful park! The falls were dry when we visited but still super cool and interesting!
Toni C — Google review
Really cool looking waterfall and nice place to camp out at. Has a handicap ramp that leads to the waterfall. Small area roped off to go swimming also.
Richard P — Google review
Great little State Park. Campground is nice, place for car, tents, hammock, fire. Bathrooms are clean either hot water. *if no rain, and dry, there is no "falling water"

The center's commitment to education and conservation is evident in every aspect of their work, from the informative tours to their active involvement in wildlife rescue efforts. I’m still in absolute awe reflecting on my visit to Bear Creek Feline Center. The up-close interactions with their incredible cats—both big and small—were nothing short of magical. Bertie, Jim, and the entire team created an atmosphere that was not only surreal but also deeply educational and incredibly safe. Their passion and knowledge shone through in every moment, making the experience unforgettable. If you’re even remotely interested in wildlife or conservation, this is a must-see. I can’t recommend the tour highly enough—10/10—and I strongly encourage anyone to support this amazing sanctuary through donations. They’re truly doing remarkable work.
Lauren A — Google review
I was lucky enough to do an educational learning experience with the owner Mrs Bertie today for several hours. The big cats were beautiful and very loved can cared for! Bertie’s staff was wonderful too! They have gorgeous and large areas to live in and also have heat and air conditioned areas to enjoy. The animals are happy and well cared for. I was included in the daily feeding and it was incredible! It was the highlight of my week in Panama City Beach. I learned so much about each big cats history and how they came to be at the Sanctuary. I also learned the history of how the sanctuary came to be. Thank you again Bertie for a wonderful learning experience! If we are back in the area I’ll definitely come and volunteer for the day!
Angela A — Google review
The tour of this sanctuary was AMAZING and very educational. Hearing about the different feline breeds, and learning each cats background was eye opening. My teen really loved the up close encounters and the staff made us feel secure in each enclosure. We will definitely be back.
Mikaela T — Google review
Had a great time with Bertie and staff. Such a great place to give these animals their forever happy place. A lot are placed here after service in the tourist industry and never learned to hunt or survive outside. Without places like these they would no doubt have to be euthanized. Staff very safety conscious. We got to feed all the cats however class one (panthers, mountain lions) you can not go in cage. Beautiful animals. Some are failed pet situations or owner may have died. Athena for instance you can see enjoyed being in the bean bag chair by the 🔥 fire. Make no mistake, these are wild animals. Some from bad situations with humans. I felt very safe with the staff who were 100% spot on with safety protocols but big teeth, big claws and there is some growling, hissing etc. You can't help but appreciate how close you are to something that powerful and beautiful. I asked a lot of questions which the staff answered 🤔 so I learned a lot. Ive been a cat lover and owner most of my life but my first experience so close. I try not to be a part of any business that exploits animals for profit. This is an organization that cares for them until they pass after coming from situations like those or failed pet attempts etc. A great thing to do that's off the beaten path, for nature lovers, to learn and interact with beautiful large felines. You will never forget it! BTW that chicken followed us everywhere. From the initial safety talk she jumped up in the chair, chirping and cooing and stuck with us the whole tour. Lol the cats just wanted to have a little lick or a bite if they could. She was funny and entertaining as well. A very nice experience. If you love nature, animals especially felines you will love it. The staff even participated in a little birthday celebration🎂🎈🎉 for me as well (thanks Jaqi) and thanks for the coffee! It was a bit nippy lol. Loved it, do it, you'll love it too.
Redhead — Google review
This was hands down one of the best experiences ever. Bertie, Jim, and the rest of their wonderful staff are so welcoming and very informative on each cat and their backgrounds. Not only are the people nice but the cats are just as sweet, you can tell they have been treated exceptionally well here. These people genuinely care about all of their cats and if I get the opportunity again, I will definitely be back.
Lara Q — Google review
Had so much fun here. Took a group of 10yr old girls from a softball team. The owners were great. Birdie taught them a lot. Cats were beautiful up close and it was a rare experience.
Joslyn C — Google review
Our experience was awesome!!! Everyone was so knowledgeable and being able to interact and feed a bunch of the different cats was so amazing!!! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience that people should do!!! Thank you to the staff, y'all were great!!! The facility y'all have there is incredible!!!

Seacrest Wolf Preserve

Non-profit organization
Outdoor Activities
Zoos
We had the best experience. And the tour guide goes all over what you should look out for before you enter each area where the wolves roam around. It was the best experience I’ve had petting the wolves. My favorites were Apache a gray wolf and Maverick an arctic wolf but still loved all the wolves there. It was so fun petting them and experiencing them howling in front of you.
Vicky H — Google review
A visit at the Seacrest Wolf Preserve turned out to be more than I could imagine. The staff gave my husband & I the complete background on Seacrest & the preserve beginning & how it has developed. They are completely self funded. Any contributions are greatly appreciated. My favorite was a wolf named Maverick who lived up to his name. These are not pets but residents of the preserve taken care of by knowledgeable loving staff & volunteers. Look them up & set a date for a visit. Well worth it. A memory to last a lifetime.
Margaret C — Google review
Wished I had gotten more up close time with the wolves, but theyre wild animals so don't set your expectations too high! Over all was a magical experience. The wolves are sweet babies and the staff is even sweeter. Small animal experience was amazing too! Definitely spend the extra 5 for the special photo opportunity also, trust me, its worth it.
Theodora C — Google review
Having always loved wolves and then discovering that Seacrest Wolf Preserve was close to me was a blessing. My wife and I took a VIP tour yesterday and were thrilled to be in three different enclosures with timber wolves. Being able to scratch and pet them and even receive multiple kisses made me very happy. Assisting us on our tour was the preserve’s vet and another person who furnished us with much information on the wolves’ care, environment and more that embellished our trip. We can’t say enough about this wonderful experience and encourage all wolf lovers to plan trips there as soon as possible.
George G — Google review
Phenomenal experience at Seacrest Wolf Preserve! Amazing staff and the sweetest wolves! Beautiful and playful wolves who are clearly well taken care of, an overall great time and unforgettable experience! Would absolutely love to come back!
Julia H — Google review
A worthwhile experience. No you dont get to touch every wolf, no you may not get loved on by them.. they don’t march them out on leashes. They are wild animals and go to whoever they feel like. Getting to see them acting naturally is the best part. Never realized how derpy they can be. 😂 would definitely go back. The tour leaders are very knowledgeable and give a pile of information throughout.
Ashley M — Google review
My husband and I had a fantastic time yesterday. I had wanted to take my husband there for years. He loves wolves. We did the VIP experience and it was fantastic! The staff were very informative, excellent, and kind! The facility is very well run and the wolves were very happy and healthy! At first, I thought I might be nervous about getting that close to a wolf but I wasn't at all. The wolves really seem to enjoy the attention. They love to be scratched and rubbed. They also love to give you a ton of wolf kisses. We had a lot of pictures taken by the staff that we can treasure! I loved the whole experience and I know my husband was thrilled by it all! If you have a chance to go,you will love it.
Kelly C — Google review
I found Seacrest through my girlfriend at work who has donated to them. I was looking for something to do on my drive back home while on vacation. I am so happy the tour was available. It is crystal clear from the moment you drive onto the property that the animals are the top priority and well loved and cared for. Their safety and well-being came before anything and it was amazing to see. As for the experience itself, AMAZING. We were able to go into the enclosures with several wolves, howl :) and actually be hands on and pet them. Be prepared to be covered in kisses and rubbed on and loved right back. We were also able to hold and pet smaller animals as well. Skunks, a raccoon and a sweet little opossum. The staff was kind, knowledgeable, and in love with both their jobs and their animals. This will absolutely be a trip I will repeat.

Ponce de Leon Springs State Park

Mentioned on
1 list
State park
Nature & Parks
Ponce de Leon Springs State Park is a year-round state park in Florida, offering cool-water springs for swimming and fishing, as well as opportunities for picnicking and hiking. The park features one of the loveliest and least touristed springs in Florida, with clear, almost luminescent waters surrounded by knobby trees. Two short trails skirt the bank of nearby Blackwater Creek. The water temperature remains a constant 68F, providing a refreshing experience for visitors.
Great place to go. Refreshingly cold water! Would recommend going early on a weekday as I've heard they turn people away when they meet capacity. Trails between springs and river to walk down. Can walk down trail or in the springs to get to where the spring and river meet and feel the cold of the spring with the warmth of the river. Bring a tube or something to sit on, makes it much more enjoyable.
Samantha R — Google review
Great spring! It’s not super big but a good size. There’s also a nice creek where you can dip your feet and walk in the water. Plenty of parking available, and the staff were very kind. The water was pretty cold. There are many picnic areas with grills, and while the restrooms are a bit outdated, they’re still functional. Only $4 per vehicle.
Kelly L — Google review
Amazing, such a blast. Our 4th Florida spring but it did not disappoint! Would highly suggest visiting as many as possible. Water was definitely cold at 68 Fahrenheit. But we loved it. Found tons of cool rocks and shells. A few shelter houses and a really cool area where the springs hit another creek and mix. Looks pretty awesome! Trails were fun too!
Aaron M — Google review
Ponce de Leon Springs was truly a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The water in the spring is incredibly clear and refreshing—locals say it stays a cool 67°F year-round, which felt amazing on a warm day. The area itself has a very calm and scenic aesthetic, perfect for relaxing or taking photos. We walked one of the wooded trails that follows the flowage, and while the scenery was absolutely gorgeous, the mosquitoes were intense—definitely recommend bringing bug spray! We opted for the shorter loop, which was a good choice for a casual stroll. There are signs warning of alligators and bears, which is understandable—we’re in their home after all! It adds to the sense of being immersed in nature. We’ll definitely be back, next time a little more prepared for the elements. A beautiful Florida gem!
Christi C — Google review
First time here. Loved it. The water is amazingly clear and beautiful. Very first Florida spring experience. Great seeing another aspect of Florida. No scuba allowed. Snorkeling is ok.
Dana G — Google review
Was able to see the park when it was empty and quiet. Only three others there. Was able to view the vents pushing the water up into the spring. Small fish. Very peaceful and serene. Crystal clear. Great flow . Amazing
Bob M — Google review
I visited back in May. I thought I posted my review on google. Words cant really describe this slice of heaven. You just HAVE to see this magical spot in person. I had it mainly to myself, so I felt very lucky. Sat and did yoga and meditation and watched the local wildlife fly and swim around.
Adrian J — Google review
The Springs were cold! But the kind of cold that is perfect for a hot summer day. The water is crystal clear. You can see the bottom of the floor and the fish in the water. There’s a place/ledge to jump into the water. I enjoyed watching kids and adults alike jump off the ledge again and again. There’s picnic tables and grills. Families cooked lunch and brought full picnic set ups. There’s also a place to play sand volleyball and a walking trail. This is a beautiful location for a fun day with family.

Gulf World Marine Park is a popular destination in Panama City Beach, offering interactive experiences with marine mammals such as dolphins, sea lions, and manatees. The park features entertaining shows with bottlenose dolphins, rough toothed dolphins, and sea lions, as well as opportunities to watch the feeding of stingrays, sharks, and turtles. Visitors can also enjoy educational chats and shows about various marine animals like otters and alligators.
We really enjoyed our time at Gulf World. Many really cool animals and neat experiences. Only negatives I would say is, it’s a little confusing finding your way to each spot and making it to each show/presentation of the animal exhibits. We enjoyed the birds, Petting stingrays, the penguin and sea turtle experience, but the dolphin show was definitely the best!
Travis M — Google review
This was a fun place, the animals are rescued although they said some of the dolphins were born there which is disturbing as that is not rescuing, but they seem to have the animals life in the best of hands. I mean if you seek animal entertainment they can't all be rescued... all in all a good place I hope.
Lara H — Google review
Wow I highly recommend checking out the dolphin show it was pretty amazing, my husband and daughter did the dolphin experience and it was the best thing they did. The trainers were wonderful and the photographer also. Just to add when we first arrived I had lower expectation’s as the front reception didn’t seem the nicest and the outside section looked a little run down but don’t let the deter you the dolphin area was splendid and worth the visit
Eedah S — Google review
My family and I came to do the dolphin encounter and it was amazing! All of the staff were so great and very helpful. After our encounter we spent several hours walking around the park. The exhibits were really neat. We also watched the dolphin show which was very entertaining.

PCB FALL BREAK 2024 Had an amazing time spent about 3hrs here checking everything out with beautiful birds and funny curious Penguins to an awesome seal show to a giant turtle then go inside and you get to pet/feed the stingrays after that it was too the awesome dolphins show it lasted about 30mins or so one of the best things we did here will definitely be back. If you go you won’t regret. I give the food about a 2 It was high and not all that great other than that it was amazing. P.S purchase tickets in advance it’s cheaper.
Michael S — Google review
We were very excited to go here! My son was granted this for his make a wish wish. So they made the arrangements and all we had to do was show up. The lady working at the register was super helpful and helped us sign up an additional kid that camp on our trip. The park itself however is a little trashed and crowded. The seal exhibit was down so we didn’t get to see that. All the staff was super helpful though. The dolphin encounter was what we looked forward to for months. When we went to the waiting area, the staff very rudely told me I had to take out my hair clip and nose ring. So I put my hair in a ponytail and attempted to take my nose ring out. After 10 minutes of no success, I told the lady checking people in I couldn’t get it out. She told me that I probably couldn’t go because the dolphins would be distracted. And also reminded me several times that there were no refunds. I was able to get a pocket tool and cut my nose ring out (it’s the kind where you have to have two pairs of pliers), so I was able to go. Directions to where we were going/doing was not very clear. They also make you leave your purse and stuff on bleachers while you’re in the water (I would suggest them having lockers or something). After that, the dolphin encounter was amazing. The trainers, photographers, dolphins, they have it down! It was a blast! And digital pictures are included in the package. Anyone with body jewelry, they really mean ALL jewelry. Make sure to prepare to have to take it out or cut it out.

This place is great if you want to book an animal encounter otherwise not worth the price for just general admission. The website wasn't clear that general admission was INCLUDED in the dolphin encounter so l ended up buying general admission also, that was non refundable. They need to make a change to the wording online. Also the email I received stated that there would be photos "for purchase" after the dolphin encounter yet they were actually included. The dolphin encounter was amazing and such a once in a lifetime experience. The photos didn't turn out that great though. A lot of the photos I received were very over exposed the camera settings need to be changed to correct this issue. There weren’t any areas to change after the dolphin encounter, so I had to change my clothes in a dirty bathroom stall. The rest of gulf world outside of the dolphins was pretty small. The enclosures were also super small for the animals.

Our experience at Gulf World’s Dolphin Swim Adventure was absolutely incredible! From start to finish, the staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel completely safe and welcome. The trainers gave clear instructions and took the time to answer all our questions, which helped ease any nerves we had. The highlight, of course, was swimming with the dolphins. We got to touch, play, and even ride on a dolphin — it was truly magical. The dolphins were gentle, well-cared for, and seemed to love interacting with us. It was obvious that the trainers have a deep bond with them and take excellent care of the animals. Everything was well-organized and ran smoothly, and the professional photos taken during the experience were beautiful keepsakes. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I’d highly recommend to anyone visiting Panama City Beach!

We love Pier Park. Convenient parking nearby. So much to do and see while walking around. It's a perfect place to catch a beautiful sunset. Plenty of dining options and stores for shopping. They have some great dessert shops the kids will love.

Pier Park is a great place for the kids and adults alike. We love it because it is across for our super condo at Calypso Beach Resort. There are no closer condos than Calypso Towers condos. Our unit is East -201. It’s the nicest condo down at Calypso. We can run over to Pier Park in two minutes and you never need a car. The Beach is terrific. That Calypso and best of all you don’t even have to go to Pier Park. Just walk over in your swim wear.

Very clean and neat, very walkable with a family. Restrooms are a little hard to find and far apart for the number of people hosted. Pier is built on concrete pillars so seemed more sturdy than on wooden ones. Fishermen we're polite when we went to the end, allowing us and our kids to catch the views without crowding. Local PD and staff security was very visible, likely because they had had two shootings in two weeks at that location. But their presence was comforting. We never felt unsafe. Parking was predictably crowded but available. Traffic patterns in and out were congested but navigable.

we went into a multitude of stores looking for some cowboy boots, didn't find any boots, but we ate at only 2 restaurants because there was a waterline break and everything started closing because of no water,we enjoyed our lunch at Ford and also got lobster 🦞,crab 🦀 and shrimp 🦐 rolls,so delicious

Grayton Beach State Park is a sprawling 2,000-acre park that offers a variety of activities such as ocean swimming, boating on the lake, hiking and biking trails, and camping. Recently named the Third Most Beautiful Beach in America by Forbes Magazine, it boasts natural beauty, clean sand, pleasant weather, and an array of wildlife. The park surrounds the neighborhood on three sides and is home to art galleries and a famous dive bar.
We had a wonderful time at Grayton Beach State Park. We were able to find a great spot on the beach and enjoy time to relax as well a wonderful time in the water. The sand is very fine and welcoming. I would highly recommend getting there mid morning to get the best parking and location on the beach. The restrooms were clean and nearby. Bring something to provide shade, as it gets hot in the direct sun. Enjoy your time in Florida on the beach.

Grayton Beach State Park is an exceptional location! It costs $5 per car for admission. However, be sure to get there early. Once the park reaches capacity, they will close the entrance for a while. We arrived mid-afternoon to take the one mile hike through the white sand dunes. It was an easy walk with amazing views. The sand can get hot though. So, be sure to have appropriate footwear. After the hike, we went to the beach for a quick swim. The water was clear, blue, and cool. We enjoyed it so much that we didn’t want to leave. We highly recommend exploring nature at this location.

Another beautiful Florida Beach State Park. Gate staff were friendly and helpful. Nice paved roads and parking lots throughout. Nice restroom facilities near the beach. Beaches were beautiful and as untouched as you can find. The sand dunes are roped off and very cool. Great place for family photos. Lots of photographers utilize this location.

Excellent state park with fantastic camping. Each site is large and has a nice large area with a picnic table and fire pit. Most sites are shaded. All sites have 30/50amp, water, and sewer. The bathrooms are nice and air conditioned and air to be well kept. The staff is extremely nice. The park is approximately 1.5-2 miles from Watercolor and Seaside. Will definitely be staying here whenever we’re lucky enough to obtain a spot. The campground is just under a mile from the beach access.

Grayton Beach State Park is an absolute gem along the Emerald Coast. Not only do you get the gorgeous sugar-white sand and emerald waters, but there’s so much more. You can have a lovely picnic, take a relaxing nature walk on the trails, and even rent a kayak or paddleboard to explore the coastal dune lake. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a little piece of Florida’s natural beauty

This is a great State Beach. There is a Turtle Reef you can swim out to and snorkeling to see all of the marine life. There is also an RV camp ground. There is some construction taking place so when you visit, follow the ling mat and don't go on the boardwalk because it's closed off. It's laid back and most of the people are family, boomers and Gen X.

Grayton Beach State Park is truly one of Florida’s finest treasures—and we feel lucky to have it right in our backyard. As longtime locals, we’ve done it all here over the years: hiked the scenic trails, paddled across Western Lake, camped under the stars, and stayed in the cozy cabins during the 30A Songwriters Festival in January. The cabins are one of our favorite ways to enjoy the park—perfectly positioned along 30A, simple but comfortable, and a short walk to the beach. You get everything you need without the high price tag of nearby rentals, making it a fantastic and affordable way to enjoy the area. The beach itself is world-class—literally. With its powdery white sand and emerald waters, Grayton Beach has been ranked among the top beaches in the U.S. by Dr. Beach and others multiple times. It’s the kind of place that takes your breath away, whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth. We’ve brought family from out of state here just to experience it—it’s that special. On calm days, we love to paddleboard along the shoreline, and for those into diving, the Underwater Museum of Art (UMA) just offshore adds a truly unique experience you won’t find at most state parks. Sculptures become reef habitat, and diving there combines art, conservation, and adventure all in one. Whether you’re here for recreation or relaxation, Grayton Beach State Park offers a rare mix of natural beauty, peace, and accessibility. It’s one of the most unforgettable spots on the Gulf Coast—and a place we’ll keep coming back to for years to come.

We came to Grayton Beach State Park for Beach access on this trip. It is perfect for that. We had to wait a little while for parking one of the days but were lucky to get in not long after we got there. The beaches are close to the parking area, clean, and aren't as crowded as most other public beach areas. Even though we didn't go on any trails this year, some of the trails at this park are awesome. Western Lake is beautiful. My only complaint is with the online reservation system for Florida State Parks. I purchased a day pass, but that did NOT guarantee us entry into the park (unlike with Texas State Parks.... day passes are like gold on busy or holiday weekends!). I wasted $5 buying it, thinking it was truly like a reservation.

What a great atmosphere. I could move here tomorrow! Nobody is in a hurry and there is plenty to do and see. We could have spent a few days of our vacation here checking out all the restaurants. Parking is a premium so arrive early. Golf carts are the way to go round here.

Neat village. During my stay in September there were few visitors during the day. We did not venture there during the late evening as this would be a more active time. The bay had a nice view with boats and yautchs in the area. We enjoyed our afternoon stroll even if it was in the high 80s.

Such a fun place to visit while you’re in Destin! The Village of Baytowne Wharf has everything—great food, live music, cute little shops, and a beautiful view by the water. It feels like a hidden gem with so much going on, especially in the evenings. Perfect spot for families or even just a casual stroll with friends. They often have events and activities for kids too! We spent a few hours walking around, grabbed some ice cream, and watched the sunset by the marina. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!

Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, FL is a beach haven with a boardwalk, pet-friendly nature trail, playground, and campground. It offers coastal camping experiences for families, special occasions like weddings or reunions, and romantic getaways. On-site activities include fishing, biking, swimming, hiking, and bird-watching. The park features amenities such as campfire circles, free parking, picnic pavilion, clean restrooms and showers.
We loved our experience at this beach! We paid a $6 dollar parking fee. Accessible restrooms, showers along boardwalk to rid yourself, and belongings of sand. It wasn't a crowded beach. The drive to the beach across the bridge through the shopping and hotel district was crowded. Make sure to plan your route to any beach. The beach was spacious, covered in white sand and shallow out into the ocean many feet. My family loved their experience.

Parking is $6, but it’s definitely worth it. The ranger at the fee station was super kind and helpful. There can be a long line if you arrive in the afternoon. The $6 parking also allows in-and-out privileges. Restrooms are nice, and there’s plenty of parking space. The best part is the beach — absolutely beautiful and clean! Truly the best emerald beach.

4 dollars for entry, more than one person is 6 per vehicle for a carload. Beautiful beach, plenty of picnic pavilions equipped with shower rinse after your beaching is done. You can fish from this beach, they ask you stay at least 50 ft from other beachers if fishing. A-D pavilions to the left and E&F pavilions to the right. Beaches were free of any trash and is patrolled regularly by rangers on carts. Had a wonderful time, we spent 8 hrs there today and it was gorgeous scenery. No dogs, alcohol or glass allowed on the beaches. Have a wonderful time, we did!!

This beach is absolutely gorgeous. There is a small fee to enter ($6 per vehicle for 2-8 passengers) but I’d gladly pay it to help keep it top notch as it was. Very clean, white sand, clear water. It didn’t feel crowded and everyone had their spacing.
Elaine — Google review
We love coming here! It’s very wagon accessible with the ramp. The bathroom was fairly clean and the beach is fabulous! They also have showers to rinse off which was amazing. Definitely worth paying a few bucks so you can have a bathroom nearby. We will be coming back next time we visit!
Bruna R — Google review
Beautiful beach. There are showers to rinse off all the sand. There are restrooms nearby as well. Pretty crystal clear water enough to say that we believe we saw 2 sting rays at different times. We saw a couple jellyfish as well, but I did notice more and more showed up as the day went on. It was also nice to see little fish swimming around. Definitely come early or you will be waiting in a long line to come in. They limit how many people can come in as well. We went on Memorial weekend, got there around 9 am, and found a spot right in front of the beach with no waiting line to enter. The Rangers are nice people as well and informative.
Adriana R — Google review
Excellent park with covered pavilions and restrooms and rinse stations to get most of the sand off of you , the beach is beautiful clear water and soft dandy white sands. Park employees go by regularly to empty out trash cans at pavilions so that's a plus. A well kept up beach I didn't see trash anywheres, we as people and visitors must help out and keep these beaches clean. Love it here and Walmart right across the street for those last min items
DA M — Google review
Wonderful state park. We prefer state parks as they tend to have public bathrooms and are less busy because you have to pay to get in. $6 for the day and you walk onto miles of beautiful white sand and emerald green water. Lifeguards and police drive by occasionally keeping an eye on things which is nice and reassuring. 10/10 - highly recommend.

Nice park, perfect for all family. The parking fee is $20 and can be used for all day. Plenty of restaurants? food trucks and stores where you can buy souvenirs. Many activities to enjoy: tours boats to see dolphins or fishing, comic and magic shows and live music too, or buy tours to Crab’s Island. There are activities for kids too.

We visited this location during the week, arriving around 10:30. Some of the restaurants and bars were just beginning to open and the crowd was light. Several shops were open, so we could browse a little. Parking was $20 for the day, and you paid when you left. I think this amount covered you even if you left and came back to the location. We had scheduled a boat ride to see the dolphins which didn't start until 2:30, so we ate lunch at O' Quigley's. Their food was very good. We ate on the top floor open air restaurant/ bar with a beautiful view of the water, boats and surrounding area. Members of my group ordered Bloody Mary's. They must have been good because they ordered a second round. Very relaxing atmosphere. We had a great waitress! This area was very open and you could move easily between the docks, the shops and restaurants and bars. The dolphin ride was awesome. We had two great crew members and the ticket included two alcoholic beverages while on the tour. They also had water and soda.

You have to try this place if you are in Destin, so much to do and see! It was really packed when we were there. We had Italian ice-cream, gellato, i think 🤔. It was really good 👍. We were going to try to eat, but all the restaurants are lined out the doors and down two lanes of the hiway! Kidding, they were really busy, so we went elsewhere. Come visit the boardwalk with someone you love ❤️, come at sunset 🌇, beautiful!!

We went on a dolphin cruise and spent a little time on the Boardwalk prior to the excursion. It was very lively and fun just taking in the atmosphere. We did have a snack prior to the cruise from one of the food trucks. I had a pizza grilled cheese. It was very good and filling. The cruise was also very fun. We saw about 4 dolphins and saw some guys catch a shark out in the Gulf *we're hoping they let it go 😬. That was exciting.

Established in 1955, Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park is the second oldest marine park in America. The park also features the U.S. Air Force Armament Museum with an impressive display of 25 reconnaissance, fighter and bomber planes. Visitors can explore artifacts from prehistoric Indian cultures at the Indian Temple Mound Museum located nearby.
The animals were a delight! You could tell they were happy and playful. All where either contently resting, roaming gracefully, or energetically bouncing with excitement for their trainers to come in. We learned lots of fun facts. You could view the ocean while wandering through. Prices were great! Every staff member was friendly, helpful and willing to chat or point you in the right direction! Amazing improvements from when I was here 20 years ago and I loved it then too! Impressive!

Wonderful experience and wonderful staff! You can feel how passionate everyone working there is for the animals and for those wanting to observe them. The animals seem very happy, and I love their rehabilitation exhibit with the sea turtles. Downside is obviously food cost; however, those teriyaki chicken sliders were so yummy. Definitely recommend!

We went for a few hours in the afternoon. Most of it is covered to block the hot sun. There's several exhibits. A few not native to the United States. It's an older aquarium it opened in 1955 so it's celebrating it's 70th anniversary. The seal and dolphin shows were super entertaining. They even house the injured. Nice place to take the children to. The Pier is right next to the aquarium.

We loved our visit here! It was very educational and the perfect size for the kids to not become overwhelmed or tired. We really enjoyed the sea lion show & the dolphin show. We sat in the "splash zone" for the dolphin show and that was the highlight of the day for our kids! They thought it was so fun getting splashed by the dolphins & also thought it was really special to be so close to them. I personally enjoyed the CARE center and seeing the work being done to help rehab the injured sea turtles.

Awesome spot for the kids with a touch tank and various shows (sea lions / dolphins) and presentations on sharks, penguins, and more. Most is outside so wear appropriate clothing for the weather. Its right on the water so there's beautiful views and a restaurant next door.

Excellent experience for kids! We really enjoyed all that they had to offer and we didn't get to see all of the shows. We did see the dolphin show which was awesome and you can tell the trainers really care about the animals that they train. We do recommend getting to the show earlier so you can get the seats that you want. We also watched the Sea Lion shows and it was awesome as well. Lots of information and very educational for the kids.
Brandon S — Google review
$75 for two to walk around the animals was a bit much as they really do not have the attractions to warrant that price point. So what if you can come back with your receipt. If there is nothing the first time around then the second or third would not have me excited. I truly am an animal person too, so many of the exhibits need some help as animals could use a little more attention for sure.
Markus S — Google review
Absolutely loved the Gulfarium! There were many animals to see including manatees, dolphins, sea lions, otters, penguins, sharks, reptiles and more! With your tickets, you are able to attend shows and animal talks. This facility talked a lot about conservation and helping the animals! The manatees were definitely my favorite part, especially knowing I have seen Lil Joe and Inigo at Disney's Epcot before!!

We Zipped! Great day of fun memories. Zipping is a blast and I appreciate them being open for Mother’s Day! The team is great from the indoor staff to outdoor staff. The grounds are beautiful. It is a fun, but it does have its outdoor adventures. Two spots were high up. I think they said 50ft for one, with tight platforms. You need to be comfortable in the air. Otherwise great memory and I am excited to go back for other adventuress.

Heads up! Unsafe operation. My mom and I went tubing, not our first time participating in that activity. The older woman at the check in desk was curt and rude. The instructions online were incorrect. There were no life jackets provided for tubes. They give you tubes and basically tell you good luck. There is no return time or check-in. You can take as long as you want on the river and they don’t check in you or the equipment when you’re done. In fact, there was nobody even at the take-out, which was waist-deep and hard to steer toward on a tube. If you get at all lost, which would be simple if you’re not able to steer toward the take-out, there is literally no way they would know. There’s no cell signal on the river, which would be nice if you didn’t need it to contact someone in the likely event that you overshoot take-out. There are no appropriate safety precautions, but that old lady at the desk will be quick to get you to sign the liability waiver. This river is the swiftest-moving river in the state of Florida (also it’s Coldwater Creek, not Blackwater River), and they don’t mention that. Overall, because my mom and I know how to navigate things, it was all right. But for lots of folks, this could become a problem. The kids working service were kind but also not informing anyone on safety. The woman at the check in desk could use an attitude adjustment.

Top-notch operation from start to finish, all in a beautiful location in Florida's panhandle. Great staff, communication, and amenities. We can't wait to visit again for a peaceful and soul-satisfying tube trip on the Blackwater River!

Great location, horrible service. I absolutely hate leaving a negative review because I was looking forward to my trip this weekend, and have heard great things but I was truly disappointed with the LACK of professionalism the lady at the counter had this weekend. She was rude, snappy, and you could tell she was just trying to get you in and out. I had to drive down because you cannot bring any tubes ( or inflatable paddle boards) the girl clearly was aggravated she had to explain to us. Which was an honest mistake and i did not see it on the website. AND TO TOP IT ALL off after my whole group riding the transport bus, me driving myself down.. we get floating down the water and my kayak had a hole in the bottom if it and was filling up with water and i had to keep draining it to stay afloat. We will not be coming back here to this place. $46 for a kayak is insane.

She was rude and unaccomaditing, racist and did not provide us with an option that was accomadinti g to our family. Wanted us to go to a cabin with no kitchen or bathroom. Just disgusted. He travelled back home.

Nestled at the western tip of Pensacola Beach, the Fort Pickens Area of Gulf Island National Seashore is a captivating blend of history and natural beauty. This historic landmark, originally built to protect Pensacola Bay, invites visitors to explore its well-preserved Civil War fort while enjoying the serene surroundings. The area boasts pristine beaches perfect for sunbathing or leisurely strolls along the shore. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the undeveloped beaches and scenic trails that wind through this picturesque landscape.
This national seashore is a gem! Miles and beautiful shoreline that is pristine. Touring Ft Pickens was educational and very interesting!

I grew up in Mobile, Alabama and went regularly to dolphin Island, Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. About 10 years ago I caravan with some friends over there to the Fort Pickens national seashore Beach area and fell in love. It is my favorite place on earth.
Latisha S — Google review
The fort, the pier, gift shop did not disappoint. The views, the Gulf, the Beach were easily accessible and the water was perfect! The campground was clean, however the bathrooms were dated and not air conditioned. No sewer so bring an external waste tank. In summer months, it will be hot, not many sites with trees for larger RVs. Overall, a great location for beach and family time.

Awesome campground with showers, restrooms, dumpsters and all hookups if needed. Trails leading to all the historic sites on the island and to white sand beaches and a short drive to restaurants and stores.

I always go to fort Pickens when we come to Pensacola beach. The store has some cool souvenirs and walking around looking at the place is nice. We always go to the end of the islands to watch the blue angels practice.

Great beach. Perfect sandy shore, amazing water, lots of fish. Saw dolphins, too!

This is a must-see if you are in the pensacola area! The fort is in pretty good shape and takes a little time to explore everything. It's full of historical placards that give you a perspective back in time from the soldiers to the enslaved prisoners. Also, the beaches in the park are the best beaches in the area, no buildings, no high-rise hotels, no rental chairs taking up the entire beach. Don't get me wrong by noon it's lined with people, but not everywhere. I was able to get some good shots without people or things in them. If you are into history, 10 out of 10 recommend visiting. Unfortunately, if you have difficulty walking on uneven surfaces or steep steps, there will be places you'll have difficulty with. Outside the fort is sidewalk, and inside the fort is brick.

We are local to the Florida/Alabama Gulf Coast! Visiting the Fort and the park is always a treat. It’s a great place to watch the Blue Angels practice as well. If you like to camp I highly recommend their campgrounds, but check vehicle height restrictions prior to booking. We treasure this beautiful sanctuary and it is a must see for anyone that can make the trip! We buy a Gulf Islands Park annual pass and use it to visit several other areas, including Johnson’s Beach.

Historic Fort Barrancas, located in Pensacola, is a well-preserved hilltop fort with a rich military history. Built in 1787 and fully established in 1844, it played a crucial role in defending the Gulf Coast. The fort features impressive brickwork, underground passageways, living stations for soldiers, and depots for weapons. Visitors can take daily tours to explore the fortress and the Spanish Water Battery while enjoying spectacular water views from the top.
A beautiful fort! Open every fourth Friday of the month. Wear sneakers to avoid sand spurs and ants. The people who work here are friendly and informative. Educational and well maintained!

Informative, and fun way to get a bit of walking in! The docent at the visitor center was welcoming and knowledgeable. He got us oriented and on our way quickly. Our kids are 6 and 2 and all steps/walking paths are good for them. The exterior had a lot of open space keep the 2 year old happy for running and exploring. We'll be back for sure.

We visited Fort Barrancas about 3 weeks ago because it is not only a beautiful historic place to visit but also a great place to take amazing pictures. We took my son there for senior pictures. These images are just the quick snaps I was able to get while the photographer was doing her thing. You will see my son had a little fun at the cannon posing as Captain Morgan lol. On a side note, my husband & I came here to take engagement photos back in 2004 & they turned out amazing as well. Another note I should mention is before going, is to check their hours of operation bc we showed up just before closing so we had to rush. Also, you can schedule a tour & get great historical info from the knowledgeable staff that works there as well. What a great city we live in to be able to be transported back in time for just a little while & slow down for a change even if it is just for an hour or two. I enjoyed the serenity of it all & didn't want to leave.

Small but very well done, the National Park Service has done a bang up job making an old fort into a beautiful area to wander, enjoy the sunshine, wander the long corridors inside the fortifications, and receive a good education about how European conflicts as well as the American Civil War were part of the history of this area. Because of the beautiful open areas and underground tunnels, there's a bit for everyone, including those who like to watch jets and Navy trainer aircraft fly by. If you like history, be sure to spend time to read the various boards in the small but we'll organized visitor center.

As you might know by now, I love going to visit historic forts. This is inside the Naval Air Station. This one is an amazing fort, from its location to the role it played in history. I would say this is a must fort to visit. I would recommend you watch the 12-minute video they have available before you had out to see this historic place. Everything you will see will have a meaning, and you will then begin to imagine how things happened. What a beauty of a place. You really need to take some time when you are there. This is a place where you can't rush it. If you like these types of historic places, you will enjoy everything from the walls to the hallways to the design. I Know I am uploading pictures that might cause you to wonder why those pictures. Well, when you go there, you will say, oh I see why. I would come back here just because I think this is a cool place to visit.

Beautifully maintained fort that you can roam for hours if you choose. The history of this area is unique and worth learning about. Highly recommend stopping here and talking with the employees. The 10 minute video was a great introduction and the fort did not disappoint. Thanks for a wonderful stop on my vacation!

Another fantastic historic American fort to bring the family to. It's safe and has a lot of neat places to explore. Make sure everyone who's an adult brings an ID. It's inside the Naval Base.
Joseph M — Google review
Fantastic National Park location. You can explore most of this fort on your own and also get a great view of Fort Pickens across Pensacola Bay. The ranger tour is available on the weekends and is well worth it to learn the how the fort was constructed and its history. Highly recommend the Advanced Readout tour if you are more adventurous. This second site (not far from the visitor center) is only accessible with the ranger tour and takes you through the abandoned structure complete with dark passageways and potential encounters with bats, snakes and other local fauna. Not suitable for young children. The fort is located on the Naval Air Station, so you will need to pass through a checkpoint and show ID to get to the fort. There is limited RV parking at the visitor center, so you may want to call ahead and ensure that there is space to park if you are driving a larger rig. The Junior Ranger program for this site is part of the larger Gulf Islands National Seashore booklet, but there are a couple of activities based on exploring the fort or walking on the .5 mile woodland nature trail near the visitor center.

If you're on the lookout for an unforgettable family adventure, the National Naval Aviation Museum is a destination that should be at the top of your list. This impressive museum stands as one of the largest in its field, showcasing over 150 meticulously restored military aircraft that tell the story of naval aviation's rich history spanning more than a century.
The National Naval Aviation Museum is an absolute gem. From the moment we arrived, everything was smooth and well-organized—from parking and entry to exhibits and signage. The layout makes it easy to navigate, even with kids in tow, and there’s something fascinating around every corner. The facilities are spotless and clearly very well cared for. The aircraft displays are pristine, the restrooms were clean, and every area felt thoughtfully maintained. You can tell the staff and volunteers take real pride in keeping this place top-notch. It’s an educational, inspiring, and enjoyable experience for all ages. Whether you’re a history buff or just looking for a fun and meaningful outing, this museum is a must-visit. Five stars, hands down!

Amazing museum! We went on a Friday morning with our 2 ½-year-old and he had the best time exploring the exhibits, climbing into planes, and flipping all the cockpit switches. His favorites were the simulator at the start and sitting in the aircraft. Admission is free, which makes it even better! There was a graduation going on during our visit but it didn’t affect our experience at all. Perfect spot for families — highly recommend!
Marclyn K — Google review
We were all very happy 😊 and impressed with our visit. To see these historic flying machines up close like this is awesome. We opted to take the guided tour and I highly recommend that. Our guide was excellent, but I'm confident all of them are since it's likely they are all experienced pilots and vets. Did I mention this aviation museum is FREE? We spent 3 hours in there, but you could easily spend the day.
Salvatore I — Google review
It’s wonderful! Huge!! There is a lot to see and learn. Admission is free! The tours are free! I’m guessing but I’m pretty sure they are veterans and they live to talk about their experiences in the military. They do suggest a $10 donation. We used google maps and ended up at the wrong gate. The museum is on base (so be sure all adults have real id) but the guard gave us the actual address and turned around. There is a cafe inside and a snack area which are purchased. There are flight simulators which are also for purchase. One is pretty tame but the others are pretty intense. It’s a bit pricy but worth it especially considering the money goes to running the museum. We visited both days of our weekend stay in Pensacola. If you have a pilot in your circle they would be enthralled. I highly recommend you visit!

The National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola is nothing short of spectacular — an absolute must-visit for anyone even remotely interested in aviation, history, or just looking for an unforgettable family outing. The sheer number of aircraft on display is mind-blowing. From early biplanes to jet fighters and iconic aircraft spanning every major conflict — WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, and beyond — the collection is incredibly comprehensive and beautifully presented. It's a powerful visual journey through the evolution of naval aviation and military history. What really impressed us was how family-friendly the entire experience was. There are interactive areas where kids can climb into cockpit cutouts, play, and get hands-on in a way that sparks real excitement and curiosity. It’s the kind of place where you’ll see wide-eyed kids pretending to be pilots while parents and grandparents marvel at the historical significance of the aircraft around them. The museum itself is massive — easily an all-day affair if you want to take in everything it has to offer, and honestly, it’s well worth the time. The layout is great, the exhibits are immersive, and there's something for every age and interest level. Whether you're a history buff, a family looking for an engaging day trip, or someone who simply loves incredible machines and the stories behind them, the National Naval Aviation Museum delivers on all fronts. We'll definitely be back!

Absolutely amazing experience. We went on a Wednesday and watched the Blue Angels practice/autograph session, and then explored the museum afterwards. If you enjoy and respect aviation as well as the military history of our country, highly recommend. We did not have the time to do it but we could have spent all day here.

Nice collection of vintage aircrafts. Several War Planes. Nice collection on engines. They also offer guided tour. Entry is free. There's a movie show which you can purchase and also a simulator ride which you can purchase. Do not miss it if you are near Pensacola. It's home of Blue Angels.
Sunil S — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience! There is a lot of exhibits and demonstrations to see at the museum. You really need a full day or whole weekend to see it all and read all the information. There’s so many planes, jets and copters. Kids can get in many of them and press buttons and steer. The different areas like Vietnam and World War Two show the way people lived during those periods so it was really neat to see. Highly recommend any time if you are in the area or great for kids rainy day activities. It’s free as of July 2025. Be prepared to do a lot of walking as the museum is huge.

Casino & hotel complex with formal rooms & suites, plus a spa, dining & an amphitheater.
This is my 2nd time coming to Atmore. I love it. This time i got a massage. I really really enjoyed it. I typically don't like people touching me and never saw myself getting a massage. However, Lena( hope i spelled her name right) was amazing and made me feel very comfortable!!! The sauna was amazing!!! I stayed on the 4th floor. The room was great as always. They take really great care of their guest. Everyone is so friendly and i love that. The bed was soft and spacious. The bathroom was amazing. The only thing i did not like was the shower area. There was no door. It makes taking a shower rather cold. I was a little upset, my coffee maker was rather dirty in my room, so i didn't use it. The market buffet had some great gumbo and that was the only thing i really enjoyed. . I also ordered room service. Fries $5 and a ceaser wrap $9, and it came to 18+ dollars. 🤔 The casino was amazing as always. My husband gambled. I did really want to. .

We had a great time. The staff was amazing at all locations. We did however have an issue with AC. It was very warm in the room all night. It wasn't comfortable at all. The maintenance staff came in and looked and said it was due to motion activation but unfortunately there was not air blowing out of vent correctly. It was not easy to sleep in a hot room. Then we had no phone service had to go back down stairs if we needed anything. The wires on backside of phone were visible and dangerous looking. Maintenance even said so himself but couldn't fix the issue. The casino itself was great and staff were wonderful. Definitely needs upgrades to rooms. That was miserable.

Overall love going to the casino! But we are getting tired of losing losing losing! It doesn't take long for us to lose the money we bring! Had issues with our stay, but the manager was quick to take care of them after I reported them. We sure didn't know that the Staff is available 24-7 to take care of problems! Staff are always quick and ready to meet us with great service and always follow through with what needs to be done. That is from the time we get out our car. That is one of the best things about the casino. We get a room for my husband's needs so I can have fun! We hadn't been in awhile, due to health concerns, and not winning hasn't been fun, so this may be a win-lose situation. Thanks again to the staff and manager for taking care of our concerns!

The day I checked in had been one of many recent hectic days. I had not had the opportunity to stay a night at Wind Creek since after COVID. My experience was truly spectacular. The moment I walked into the suite, I felt a peace descending upon me. I absorbed the quiet and the beauty of the view. Certainly deserving of five stars!

I asked that they take the feather pillows and comforter off my bed because of my allergies. They quickly switched me to a “Pure “ room. It has no down and also utilizes an air filtration system. It is awesome! Never slept better! I can’t wait to go back!
Joel B — Google review
Our stay was ok, however, conducive to a 3star hotel maybe. There were not enough microwaves, no automatic blinds, loud noises & music from other rooms at night & early morning. We called the front desk and they started back around 3:00am in the morning. The baseboards needs attention in the bathrooms. And nothing was ever done about the bedbug situation that we experienced in the past. Customer service is lacking when it comes to your hotel guests.
Fay J — Google review
The rooms are so nice!. If you are a rewards member, they are generous with their room comps as well. The property is beautiful with a wonderful spa, pool, hot tub and they even have private cabanas with private pool and hot tubs available. The gambling payout is some of the best around. And if you're not a gambler there's a full movie theater with 6 screens or so, bowling alley, arcade, food court and steakhouse. It's a vacation in itself. We love Windcreek Atmore. We look forward to visiting other Windcreek locations in the near future.

Johnson Beach in Perdido Key is truly a hidden gem on the Gulf Coast! The views are absolutely breathtaking. The white sand, crystal-clear water, and peaceful surroundings make it perfect for relaxing, walking, or just soaking in the beauty of nature. I was pleasantly surprised by the recent renovations. They’ve really freshened up the area without taking away from its natural charm. Plus, the addition of new parking lots has made it much easier to access, especially on busy weekends or holidays. Whether you're local or just visiting, Johnson Beach is a must-see spot for calm waters, stunning sunsets, and a more laid-back beach experience compared to the busier tourist spots.

A great place to spend an afternoon shopping, dining or hanging out with friends. It's one of the tourist spots that was highly recommended to visit. I'm not sure we got around to all the shops. There are so many of them. The highlights for us were making our own fragrances at High Cotton and a sweet treat from Kilwins. The Wharf is animal friendly (apparently) because a tall, well-mannered dog kept coming in and out of the shop we were in. It was cute at first, but he probably came in and out 15 times, standing around, waiting for snacks! It was a bit much.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our day at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama was absolutely amazing and easily one of the highlights of our trip. We decided to rent e-bikes from a local company called Paradise Pedal LLC, and that turned out to be one of the best decisions we made. The owner was so kind and helpful from start to finish. He went above and beyond to make sure our family had everything we needed for a perfect ride. We have a three-year-old and a seven-year-old, and he set us up with two great little carriages for the kids so they could ride along safely and comfortably. He even made us a great deal and personally delivered the bikes to us so we could start our adventure right at the park. The bikes themselves were in perfect condition and such a joy to ride. The electric assist made it easy to cruise along the trails and enjoy all the beautiful scenery without getting tired. The trails through Gulf State Park are stunning. There are lakes, boardwalks, and so many peaceful paths that make you feel surrounded by nature. We passed through shaded areas, open stretches by the water, and even spotted some wildlife along the way. It was so relaxing and fun to explore everything at our own pace. The kids had an absolute blast riding in the carriages, laughing and pointing out things along the way. It was such a great family experience that everyone enjoyed. The park itself is very clean, well maintained, and easy to navigate. There are rest stops, picnic areas, and lots of places to take a break and enjoy the view. I cannot recommend Gulf State Park enough, especially if you pair your visit with an e-bike rental from Paradise Pedal LLC. The combination of beautiful scenery, smooth trails, and such kind service made for a perfect day. We will definitely be coming back the next time we are in Gulf Shores. It is a must-do for families or anyone who loves being outdoors and exploring in a fun and relaxing way.

Beautiful trails crisscross through and around the park. Gorgeous freshwater lake for fishing, swimming or boating. Clean, spacious, well cared for RV sites with shade trees and grass. Huge gorgeous pool. The showers are okay. Better than some I've seen. Laundry room has several machines. This is a safe, gated part, with friendly and accommodating staff.

We finally made it to Gulf State Park for our anniversary trip! It's a place we've wanted to visit for years, especially since getting our e-bikes. After a few tries of finding a spot, we were so excited to book our stay. 😁 On our anniversary, we drove the scenic coast in our Jeep, stopping along the way to enjoy appetizers from Gulf Shores to Destin and back. We ended the night watching the sunset at the beach. It was a perfect way to celebrate. 🥂💖 In the remaining two days, we biked over 85 miles, exploring all the park's trails and even riding the Fort Morgan Road trail outside the park. 🚲 I can confidently say this is the best state park we've ever camped at—they truly have thought of everything. We're already planning our next trip and can't recommend it enough! 🏕️ #lanclosadventures

Our family had a wonderful time here! It was so much fun feeding the alligators. We were amazed by all of the sizes of the alligators, some were MASSIVE! There are plenty of places to sit and relax. You can even get a snow cone. When you get to the swamp area, there is a concession area to get drinks and a refill on alligator food if needed. We even got to hold a small alligator and pet a snake. (They have more than just alligators) Highly recommend. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable as well.

What a great experience! My sister’s family and my family (total of 8 kids, 4 adults) went this week and had the best time. Exceeded our expectations. So many gators, staff was friendly and as a Momma, I couldn’t get over how CLEAN everything was. The bathrooms were spotless and that is so important to me as well. Kids pet a snake and held a baby gator- they are still talking about it. It was a 50 minute drive from Ft. Morgan (30 from Gulf Shores) and worth the drive! Highly recommend! Thank you for a fun day!

I have been to several of these types of attractions and this one was by far the best! It was worth every penny. The animal all look so well taken care of and happy. Our children absolutely loved walking through the swamp. There are also several places to stop and grab cheap snacks and drinks along the trails. Also make sure you watch a feeding show! The man who does the shows is not only hilarious but great with the animals! We also had an opportunity to put a snake and hold a small alligator! 10/10 I would come back here.

We had so much fun here! I recommend getting the chow cup or bucket. It was fun to feed the gators. It was hot outside but this place does great at keeping you cool. They have an ac room you can pop into to cool off, and several fans located around the park. We all enjoyed the snow cones at the stand. Gators of all sizes to see, and we Loved getting to hold the baby gator for a pic

What I thought would be a kitschy tourist trap turned out to be a highlight of our vacation! The alligators seem very well taken care of. Everyone who works there was very friendly. The grounds were immaculately kept. There were informational signs everywhere. The bathroom near the feeding area/snow covered be stand were clean and nice. I’m so glad we made this stop! My daughter will be talking about this for a long time!

Great place. We spent 90 minutes or so there, would have stayed longer if we could have. Very friendly and welcoming staff. They have alligators of all ages from yearlings to the big boys. The feeding show was top notch and educational. Very clean and well maintained. Well worth the cost of admission. 100% recommend.

This was such an awesome experience! The gators are well fed and in an environment that is just like where they would be in nature. Get there for their feeding time because you learn all kinds of facts and hear some jokes and it was really great. Plus you get to hold a gator and who doesn’t want to do that!

The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, originally a private refuge called Zooland Animal Park, opened to the public in 1989. After enduring several hurricanes, including Hurricane Ivan in 2004, the zoo gained national attention for its resilience and reconstruction efforts. Today, it is home to over 500 native and exotic animals such as leopards, tigers, monkeys, lions, and macaws.
Small zoo that does not disappoint! Lots of really cool animals. Big Cats, alligators, lemurs, monkeys, giraffes, and much more It was very hot the day we visited but the experience was made better by misting sections and well air conditioned buildings for cooling off. The barn animals were cute and although the mining section wasn’t working that day; we were able to buy a bag and sorted through our gems at home. Which my kids liked doing it this way more than when we have done them at other zoos before! We got the big bag, and there is SO MUCH included in it! We ended it with my 15 year old taking a ride on the zip line ride thing. It was $15 and he said it was really cool at the top to be able to see the entire zoo and town too. The gift shop seemed pretty reasonable priced to other gift shops. they had some really funny shirts and lots of items to choose from. I would recommend them getting a better variety of magnets but other than that, 10 out of 10!

This is a nice zoo, but it is small. We walked it in less than an hour. It is also laid out very confusing. It has paths to walk that do not go straight to the exhibits. I enjoyed the animals they had. They seemed to have good habitats and exhibits. They had other rides that were nice, like a merry go round and a zip line ride. We had fun and would probably come back.

Absolutely amazing, just as I had hoped it would be. It was 91 out we went 9/21/25 and most animals were nowhere to be found. Then I decided to go backwards and see if anything came out. I'm glad I did we saw both lions, both porcupine and even Benjamin was walking towards us. Such a great little zoo. I used to watch the show Little Zoo that could I believe. Just amazing great work yall! And Miss Patti (caretaker who was director during the show and hurricanes) Thank you for saving these animals.

Fun day at this zoo. Arrived early and got to see morning feedings. I especially loved the giraffes and lions. Gift shop employees were very friendly and welcoming. There is plenty of parking as well .

There weren’t any clear signs directing visitors to the different buildings, like the reptile house or bird area, which made it a bit confusing to know where to go. Some of the exhibits were also under construction. We did visit on a colder day, so several of the animals weren’t out, but overall it was still a fun experience! Two of the seniors in our group rented scooters — they were $20 each, very fast, and had great brakes, which made it easier for them to get around comfortably. We also did the Sloth Encounter — while we didn’t get to pet the sloth, we really enjoyed meeting Archie the armadillo! He was absolutely hilarious and ended up being my favorite animal there.

This is a wonderful zoo! Somewhat smaller than some of the zoos in larger metropolitan areas, this quiet zoo was a perfect place to take our young kiddos for a more intimate and leisurely experience with the animals! The staff was also super friendly, and there were plenty of restrooms and places to hydrate scattered throughout the zoo. In addition to being stroller friendly, there were mist hoses (a wonderful way to provide visitors a break from the heat), playgrounds, and benches at all the major exhibits. We can’t wait to return!
Sarah P — Google review
Wonderful, if relatively small, zoo. I grew up visiting it in its previous Gulf Shores location; this is a massive improvement! We visited with a 2.5 year old, a 1 year old, and an 8 month old. We went right at open, and I would definitely recommend doing that, both for heat and smaller crowds. The keepers were very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed speaking with several of them. There are several extra activities for younger kids: a carousel, animal feeding, a small train, "mining," and safari carts. For older kids or adults, there are several animal encounters that require reservations, so plan ahead for any extras you want to do.
Callie O — Google review
It was very expensive, for a regular, nothing special zoo. We paid $25/ each person extra, just to see a couple sloths not really do anything, and you can see them from outside their living area for free. If I'd known this we wouldn't have paid extra. The animals looked hot and miserable, and most are hiding to try and stay cool.

Gulf State Park Pier

Fishing pier
Sights & Landmarks
Gulf State Park Pier, located in Gulf Shores, is a popular spot for fishing and offers scenic views of the beach and ocean. The pier was reconstructed after being demolished by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and now features an indoor concession seating area, a retail tackle shop, and wheelchair-accessible rail fishing opportunities. With over 2,400 feet of fishing space, it is the largest public pier on the Gulf of Mexico.
The newly refinished pier is so nice; busy with so many fishermen. My visit was bitter sweet since I went to keep a promise I had made to my husband before he passed away. The last time I had taken him there to fish, his health had already diminished his ability to walk & so being in a wheelchair he fished near the beginning of the pier, since the end had not yet been rebuilt because of the hurricane damage. It is so beautiful, and they honor us Veterans with discounts, so I was able to bring his ashes with me, to be together on the fully finished pier as I had promised we would do once it was finished❤️ THANK YOU Gulf State Park Pier for your kindness!!

Pier was probably the nicest pier I've ever been too. It does cost to park and go on the pier, but it was well worth it. Kids 11 and under are free. Also, if you take your parking pass stub to pay for entry to the pier, you get one free entry. Employees were very nice and helpful. There's ice cream, food, drinks, and clean bathrooms. Also, you can't beat the view of the beautiful beach and ocean. It was fun to watch people catch fish.

We went to Gulf State Park Pier a little before sunset on the last evening of our vacation. This was the PERFECT time to go! The sun was at a point to where we could see beneath the surface of the water allowing us to watch schools of fish swimming, a few crabs and even spot some nice shells! On the opposite side of the pier we saw multiple dolphins playing (at least 6) and swimming. Nearer the pier we noticed fish began to jump out of the water and then we saw a shark swimming right below us! We understood why those fish were jumping after that. We made our way down the pier and wound up seeing a shark twice more as multiple fishermen caught ladyfish and mackerel all around us. The sun finally completely set and the sky grew dark except for the sliver of moon and the stars. It was a really awesome walk on the pier with a lot of action and a beautiful sunset and moonrise. If you’re looking for an affordable and fun way to spend an evening, head to the Gulf State Park Pier and see what you can discover in the water 😊

Parking was $10 and for 2 of us $3 to walk the pier and enjoy the sunset. The early evening breeze made the visit very comfortable even though it was 93 degrees when we arrived

The Gulf State Park Pier has been seriously upgraded since my last visit. It had been damaged and they have done quite a lot of repairs and updates. I had no idea that they had started charging to go to the far end of the pier as that wasn't the case when I last visited. As a veteran I get free parking and also free entrance to the pier. I never saw any signage that indicated I had to pay to walk out to the pier but I did get yelled at for just walking out on the pier past the "commercial zone" and had to show my military veteran ID to proceed. I found it odd that I was somehow magically supposed to know that there was a fee or requirement to show my veteran ID when I never saw any sign to that effect. The lady that yelled at me came out of a door so she was inside where I couldn't have seen her so they should certainly add some signs that explain what they want more clearly to avoid weird situations like this. They also have a restaurant and bar here but I would suggest eating somewhere else. The pier does seem to be a decent place to fish and I saw several people bringing in some nice sized fish. Overall this seems like a good option if you want to fish off a pier or just enjoy the great view here. If I had to pay to just walk to the end of the pier I wouldn't have done that as you can get a good enough view from the "commercial zone" where the bar and restaurant are located. Overall this is an interesting spot to check out but I just heard they have raised the price of parking so that might make this area less attractive to visit.

I fished here for two days. What a great learning experience, and the staff are great people quick to help . Seeing a sea turtle made my day . Best $10 bucks parking and going out on the pier ($2.00) part of your parking ticket lower half gives you excess to the pier .

The Fairhope Pier

Fishing pier
Sights & Landmarks
Fairhope Municipal Pier is a renowned fishing pier that provides breathtaking views and is home to numerous pelicans. It remains open year-round, offering visitors the opportunity to take leisurely strolls, observe shorebirds, or engage in pier fishing. The pier boasts various amenities including benches, shaded areas, restrooms, a marina, and an on-site restaurant for dining.
The amount of times we have been to this municipal park and pier area in the past couple of weeks! It is an extremely nice place to fish, to hangout, they have a restaurant, the bathroom is really nice and fully equipped with 7 rolls of toilet paper rolls lmao . But we have caught a Bull shark, string ray, croaker, white trout, hardhead cat fish so far. And others redfish drum sail catfish fish, we saw someone yesterday catch a 3 foot black tip shark too! So all around it is just a very nice clean place! They also have their own cutting boards with water hoses on some of them! Enough trash cans so no excuses to litter! We get about 5000 steps just walking to and from lol so a nice place to excerise too! There's a each area, and playground, a place to do music bands, weddings, etc it's really the whole package! I recommend getting hooked coming to this place too ;p

Nice spot for a hang with the family. The park is fairly straightforward. The view of the water and the picnic area is what makes it worth the visit. Aside from that it’s just an average park with nothing special for kids.

Outdoor Activities
Gulf Islands National Seashore is a stunning 150-mile stretch of mostly undeveloped white-sand beach, showcasing the natural beauty of the Gulf Coast before human settlement. The area includes mainland and barrier islands accessible by boat, offering pristine flatland beaches with sugar-white dunes crowned with sea oats. Visitors can enjoy uncrowded beaches, clear waters, and a variety of recreational activities such as walking, hiking, boating, and kayaking.
Nice barrier island with the Gulf on one side and the Mississippi sound on the other side. Spent a relaxing half day on the island along with a 50 min boat ride to and from the island. There is also a fort you can visit with a guided tour by the Park Ranger. It was flooded when we were there so we couldn't do the tour.

Gulf Islands National Seashore is one of the true hidden gems along the Gulf Coast. The white sand beaches are pristine, the water is clear and inviting, and the overall atmosphere is peaceful and unspoiled. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down and just take in the natural beauty. There’s something for everyone — whether you want to swim, relax on the beach, kayak, hike, or explore historic Fort Pickens. The wildlife is also incredible — we spotted dolphins, birds, and even a few sea turtles. The area is clean, well-maintained, and not overcrowded, even during peak season. Parking and restroom facilities are accessible, and the entry fee is well worth it for the experience you get. If you’re looking for a quiet, stunning coastal escape away from the high-rise condos and party beaches, this is it. One of the best beach spots in Florida — hands down.
B B — Google review
The ONLY issue with Gulf Islands National Seashore is the bathhouse facilities at Ft. Pickens campground (loop A). I understand it's a campground shower and toilet, but it could all stand a good cleaning and updating. I'd drop a half a star for that if I could. Also, be prepared to drop $25 for the National Park entry fee, payable by credit or debit card only. Aside from that, this area is just what the doctor ordered if you're looking for a true getaway. There are NO streetlights, restaurants, clubs, traffic, loud neighbors or obnoxious party people. There IS beautiful, clear ocean water, interesting wildlife, soft, white sand beaches, historical ruins, and United States Navy Blue Angels practice flights. My family camped here in August 2025, grabbed groceries at the Winn Dixie, Aldi, and Walmart about 30 minutes up the road in Navarre, and enjoyed a week of snorkeling, napping, eating seafood, and watching sea birds, crabs, and fighter jets all do their thing without having to leave the confines of Fort Pickens.
Jerry — Google review
Nice beach not crowded. Coolest thing was the Blue Angels were practicing that day. Very very cool. We're doing fly overs. Was awsome.

This place was beautiful! Some areas were inaccessible due to flooding, but most of the trails were fine. The staff was able to point out key animal viewing spots on the park map as well some trails that weren’t marked on the map. I saw baby armadillos, a tortoise, a rabbit, an osprey nest, dolphins, an alligator and a bunch of different sea birds like pelicans and cranes.
