A Relaxing Yet Eventful Stay at the Wyndham Hotel – Daytona Beach (2017) Back in 2017, I had the chance to vacation with my family at the Wyndham Hotel in Daytona Beach, and overall, it was a memorable experience. The hotel’s oceanfront location was definitely a highlight—waking up to the sound of waves and stepping onto the balcony to see the sunrise over the Atlantic was something special. The beach was just steps away, making it easy to enjoy long walks on the sand and some relaxing time by the water. The hotel itself was comfortable, with clean rooms and a welcoming atmosphere. The pool area was a nice spot to unwind, especially in the evenings. Service-wise, everything was decent—staff was friendly, though there were a few minor hiccups typical of any vacation stay. That being said, I’ll admit I’m not used to staying in hotels because I prefer low ground. Something about being higher up just doesn’t feel as natural to me, so that part took some getting used to. Despite that, I still enjoyed the experience and made the most of it. One of the best parts of the trip was exploring Daytona Beach with my family. From visiting the boardwalk to checking out nearby restaurants, there was always something to do. Of course, like any family vacation, there were moments of chaos, but in the end, it was a trip I look back on with a mix of nostalgia and appreciation. Would I stay at the Wyndham again? Probably, especially for the beachfront views and convenient location. It was a solid vacation spot, and 2017 feels like a simpler time compared to now.

Room was a great size, clean, and well kept. I personally thought the beds were a little hard. But no other issues with the room. The staff was warm, welcoming, and helpful. The pools and outside areas were always clean and a fun place to hang out. Not a complaint but wish the hotel had more of an offering for snacks and breakfast.
Lisa K — Google review
We stay here at the Wyndham Ocean Walk 2 -3 times a year and always enjoy our time there. Right on the beach, easy access, wake up to the sunrise daily, and you can walk to main street 3the pier. During the summer the city has live bands at the band shell with fireworks after the show. Highly recommend a visit to Daytona Beach. Check the city website for what may be happening before you book your trip, plan around special events for motorcycles, Jeeps, trucks, and sporting events.
Peter D — Google review
Staff is amazing. Our room for the price was pretty run down. Dirty dishes in the cabinets, stuff left on top of the fridge and under the beds. Floors were dirty at check in. Half the unit the ac didnt work. Pool area is wonderful.
Stacey Z — Google review
Was an amazing place to stay and vacation to, featuring two large pools, a couple of hot tubs, a lazy river, and much more. Something fun was happening every day at this resort. The only downside was that a few things were closed due to needing repair, and we often saw the workers repairing it just sitting on their phones and didn't start working until the day we departed.
Wyatt W — Google review
My favorite Wyndham vacation resort yet. The staff was very accommodating. The pool was crowded but great! I loved the lazy river. Oceanfront. Who could ask for more… of the shampoo and conditioner took the frizz right out of my hair!!!! .
Heather A — Google review
Be careful with this place. I called to see if they had availability and was told they have a great room for us with an ocean view and two beds and full kitchen. Exactly what we were looking for. We got a room that smelled like pee and had gross stains on the couch. See video. Was given another room on a lower floor. Seemed cleaner then noticed the mold and toilet that wasn't even connected to the floor. See video. We were promised an early check in. That didn't happen. We were at the pool for a minute without wrist bands. Got yelled at and had to go get them from the room. No food after 6pm. Over all not a place for us, we left and went the Hard Rock. Don't stay in rooms 1902 or 1409 Was promised a refund. Then told we still had to pay a housekeeping fee even though we didn't even stay there. What a rip off!
Ron K — Google review
We used to travel here every year.. until all our kids got jobs and families. Have talked about coming back, and we finally did it. NOT disappointed at all. The staff was amazing! I had several rooms and split reservations with each. I was constantly down asking for "favors" and updates on requests. They never lost their patience and made miracles happen! The front lobby staff, bell hops, room coordinators, and security were all wonderful! Wish I could remember everyone's names ! Got to see a rocket launch from our balcony thanks to Danny who made sure we knew. Another memory made! The behind the scenes staff clearly did awesome as well because my rooms were clean and kept and we had things upon request in timely manners. There was always awesome live music somewhere and activities available onsite! We had so much fun! There were 23 of us! I am a Wyndham Owner and a happy one. This trip just confirmed for my kids, that this was a. Investment well worth it and one they are glad to continue.. eventually 😉 Thank you Daytona Ocean Walk staff! Ps the only reason the rooms are missing a star was no usb ports. But I know you are continuing to upgrade

Its beautiful gardens and live oak trees provide visitors with plenty of opportunities for photography, while the picnic area is known for its beach and sightings of dolphins. The park also features a rose garden, ponds and streams, a large play area for kids, volleyball nets, picnic tables, restrooms and even a wedding altar available for reservations.
Beautiful Saturday Morning stroll with my family! Pleasantly welcomed by the nice lady at the gate. Went early at 8am to avoid the Summer heat which was expected to get up to 90 degrees by 11am. They had me at the rose garden, everything else was icing on the cake. Quiet playground for the kids as well. And went to the beach after the playground. Awesome morning!
Carnie B — Google review
Very beautiful, extremely well kept. It was hot but there is plenty of shade and multiple restrooms. Stunning views of the intracoastal waterway and lovely roses. We paid $5 for everyone in our car and parking was plentiful. Really glad we decided to visit.
Alejandra R — Google review
Beautiful place for a nice, quiet visit. The gardens were beautiful. The gift shop was closed unfortunately so we didn't get to visit there. You can buy plants there apparently but not the day we went. So pretty, lots of information to learn and beauty to look at.
Angie L — Google review
My husband and I had our engagement photos done here over two years ago. Washington state park will always be special to us. It is such a beautiful place. The staff keep everything super clean and all the plants look very loved. They have a cute nursery you can purchase plants on certain days. I love the beach with all the coquina that is right there too. This is one of Floridas hidden gems! A must see in Flagler county. Great place to picnic and playground for kids. Adorable gift shop with locally made items. This is a great representation of old Florida with all the live oak hammocks. On the beach you can catch sites of dolphins, stingray, octopus, and manatee. It’s also a great place for shelling. Make sure you check the tide pools before going. There’s also a beautiful owl that lives in the live oaks.
Hannah H — Google review
Very nice park for a day tour. There are picnic areas inside with nice short trails. The gift shop has some snacks and ice creams. Parking is also nice and seemed plenty. Also the beach at the opposite side is beautiful and much quieter than other famous beaches. The park ticket covers the beach parking s well.
Abhijeet J — Google review
So incredibly beautiful. Flagler county does an excellent job maintaining their parks. I particularly love the rose garden and the sitting areas along the intracoastal. The mosquitos/yellow flies can be pretty brutal at certain times of the year so prepare accordingly during the warmer months.
McKenzie C — Google review
Visit this July, the place is beautiful and peaceful. Walking the trails makes sure to apply mosquitoes repellent before, walking. Even so I still got bites from mosquitoes, it’s seems that the mosquitoes didn’t bother that I had repellent on me (other than that I enjoy my hiking trails). One trail was super sunny less shade than other trails. I had a wonderful experience walking around and seeing oaks trees, and the history of the place.
Lourdes R — Google review
Beautiful location with friendly staff and clean restrooms—definitely a great spot for portraits, engagement shoots, and nature photography. Just a heads-up: sometimes other visitors might appear in the background of your shots (like a couple walking up the gondola steps during my session), so it’s helpful to be patient and respectful of everyone sharing the space. Overall, a wonderful place to capture special moments!

Fort Matanzas National Monument

Sights & Landmarks
Fort Matanzas National Monument is a coastal stone fort built by the Spanish in the 18th century, situated on a salt marsh. It was created to defend the waterway to St. Augustine during Spanish occupation and has been restored from ruins to its former glory. Visitors can take a ranger-guided ferry across the Matanzas River for free, but tickets run out quickly so it's best to arrive early.
Great family fun outing in the St. Augustine area. The 45-minute tour includes a ferry ride across the inlet and a guided tour of the Fort. The Park Rangers/ tour guides are engaging but also allow you to explore the site. Highly recommend.
Gordon W — Google review
It was a fun little tour of the Fort. Small but mighty. Nice boat ride over to the island. Park Rangers were definitely into what they do for a living, very energetic about giving the history of the fort! Free tour but the spots go fast.
Jonathan E — Google review
Very interesting, loved the history lesson and had no idea a fort could be so small! Loved Ranger Linda and our Captain was great as well. The nature walk was also pretty awesome and loved learning that the live oaks grow away from the salt water!
Holly T — Google review
Well kept, clean and fort. Short boat ride to the fort with a lot of history. Beautiful place. Bathroom and vending machine with drinks are available. A hiking area is also available.
Alice C — Google review
Great place for a little family outing. They have lots of picnic tables, shade, public restrooms, trash bins and vending machines with cold drinks. The gentleman in the information office was very kind and friendly. He gave us maps and information on the area. The ferry was closed when we went so we did not get to pay the $2 and ferry over to the monument. The walking trails are nice but not recommended for anyone who may have a fear of spiders.
LaToya W — Google review
Great morning out, the boat and fort are free and take about 50 mins. Even on a quiet day it filled up so get there a bit before. There is also a lovely loop hike to do by carpark of about 20 mins.
Alejandra R — Google review
Beautiful NPS site. There is a (free) ferry that takes you across the river to the actual fort, and that requires in person, first-come, first-serve tickets. Be mindful of Florida weather - storms and lightning that may cancel the time slot you have planned. Even with our cancellation, the rangers and volunteer were helpful and kind. The grounds are worth checking out - we saw a sea turtle, and many birds.
Mel A — Google review
It's a fun free things to do. The fort is so small it only takes a few minutes to see but it's free. The ferry ride is maybe 50 yards but again free for everyone. There is a walking path through the hammock and beach access.

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers a unique and fulfilling experience for animal lovers who prefer a more natural setting than traditional zoos. Visitors praise the active and seemingly happy animals, as well as the knowledgeable and safety-conscious staff. The guided tour is described as a well-oiled machine, providing an in-depth look at the incredible big cats and other animals.
Visited this wonderful reserve today. It was really informative and had a great time looking at all the animals they have taken in. Please visit the reserve, your ticket fee helps support the animals rescued by this wonderful organization. Thank you so much for helping the animals 🐅, 🦁, 🐺!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and tour on August 16, 2025. Our guide Vince along with the other volunteers who came along with us was very knowledgeable and informative. A highlight was learning about the back story on each individual animal. The park is extremely organized and well run. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. It was a very hot day and the water bottles were greatly appreciated. We will definitely talk up the tour with our friends and neighbors. Thanks for a wonderful outing.
Robert W — Google review
We attended the first Halloween party, Lions, Tigers and SCARES and REALLY enjoyed it! GREAT Experience. We called it an Adventure! Because we had a great time - as much as the weather allowed. The adventure was cut a little short due to a heavy downpour. But it was wonderful to see so many people in the community come out and support the event. It was obvious the turnout was way beyond what was expected. Organizers also faced huge unforeseen challenges before the event even took place... Everyone working at the event was super friendly. And organizers continually expressed their appreciation to everyone who turned out and did all they could to help ensure our experience was enjoyable. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and worked great with the children in our group.
Chris S — Google review
This is a really cool place. Lots of big cats all with interesting stories from their rescue. Also has wolves and some other interesting animals. You have to take a tour to visit, but the animals are incredible. Unfortunately, no pictures. Apparently, people in the past have ruined tours trying to take pictures, so definitely a reasonable request.
RumAndPancakes — Google review
It was very impressive to see all the animals up close that were saved by this place. I wasn’t expecting to see so many animals in such a neat and organized environment. The tour was very informative, and it truly made me think about how we can help protect wildlife from humans who seek to profit from them.
Carrie H — Google review
Vince, Shelly, Alex, and Margaret were all fantastic! The tour was incredibly informative and you could tell how much the animals love their care takers! I’m so happy there’s a place like this that can give those animals sanctuary. Watching Indigo chase the vultures and the playful lion was a hoot! The send off of the wolves howling was also amazing! These animals really get the best of the best and this place deserves nothing but five star reviews and as many donations as you can give! I will be telling everyone to come give you guys a visit! I really appreciate that they don’t allow photography because it allows a more genuine experience with the animals and you learn more! They offer a flash drive of beautiful images of all of the animals that you can purchase from them. I recommend getting a magnet or two as well. :)
Ada E — Google review
Our group of 11 people from Palm Coast went for a tour of the Wild Reserve. A reservation was made over the telephone prior to the visit. Samantha (Sam) was our tour guide. She is most excellent. We all learned a lot about animals that we did not know. We also were informed about why these animals need to be rescued and cared for. The animals are well cared for and in large, well made containment structures. As a group, we look forward to adopting some of the big cats. Also we were "shepherded" along the tour path by 4 to 6 other staff members who kept us together and behind the safety zone barriers. One staff member drove a 6 passenger gold cart for the walking impaired. The accompanying staff members also took turns feeding the animals "snacks." The Wild Reserve is a hidden treasure in NE FL. We will visit again with friends and family, plus donate regularly.
Daniel M — Google review
Went for the Saturday 2pm tour and was totally blown away. Don't be put off by the dated website ( still references covid) or the overall dryness. The actual Wild Reserve is beautifully ran by a core group of staff, along with some great volunteers. You could tell that the animals were loved and well cared for. Enclosures are large and constantly being upgraded. All enclosures were clean, have freash clean water and plenty of enrichment items. I have been to zoos at major cities that dont do the job with their animals that these passionate people do. Will bring all future visitors here. Absolutely loved it!

Saint Augustine Distillery

Food & Drink
The Saint Augustine Distillery is a working distillery located in a restored ice plant dating back to the early 1900s. Visitors can take free guided tours to learn about the art of distilling and the history of Old Florida, with exhibits showcasing artifacts from the past. The distillery produces award-winning spirits such as whiskey, rum, gin, and vodka using age-old techniques in copper pot stills. The tour also includes information about the building's former life as an ice manufacturing plant.
St. Augustine Distillery Review This was my third time visiting the St. Augustine Distillery, and it continues to be an enjoyable and worthwhile stop—and best of all, it’s free! The self-guided tour includes four tasting stations. I didn’t grab photos of all of them and can’t recall every name, but I do remember sampling a Mule, an Old Fashioned mix, and what I believe was a Grapefruit Hibiscus blend. All four were delicious. The tour is short, informative, and fun. The staff is friendly, and the overall vibe is welcoming. While the free tasting doesn’t include their gin, I highly recommend trying it at the bar—it’s remarkably smooth. There’s also a full bar on site where you can purchase cocktails, and a restaurant attached to the building that I haven’t tried yet, but maybe next time. If you're in the area, this place is absolutely worth a visit—whether it's your first time or your third.

Best Distillery Experience in Florida! Yep another non-food review! What a blast! From the first sip to the last, this place knows how to deliver an experience. The rum, gin, and vodka samples were great — but the bourbon? Absolute favorite. And The Saint… wow. Hands-down the star of the show. Dominick was our guide and he crushed it — friendly, funny, and clearly loves what he does. He made the whole tour feel like we were hanging out with a friend who just happens to know everything about spirits. The classroom is gorgeous and super organized, which made learning as fun as the tasting. I’m already planning my next trip — certification, here I come! You're in the St Augustine area, stop by and as always, tell them we sent you!

This distillery is known for its famous bourbon. We stopped by and took a FREE self-guided tour which includes 4 cocktail samples. It took us about 45min-an hour to get thru with reading info provided. The staff were friendly and obviously love their jobs. They were fun to talk to about the history. After you done you could go for more tasting. The parking are on the side of the building sharing with the restaurant.
Wind N — Google review
My son and I toured the distillery while traveling through Saint Augustine and had a fantastic time! The tour was extremely engaging and informative, we learned a lot, all the employees were extremely friendly in each room had a different tasting. It was a lot of fun. We actually wind up buying several pieces of merchandise in the shop before leaving. If you are in the area, it is a free tour and a lot of fun. Definitely add it to your list!
Jeanine K — Google review
Awesome experience where we complete the self guided tour. I was surprised to find it was really free, including the free sample taste of 4 of their house made cocktails. These included a Florida Mule, Essential Tonic, Old Fashion, and Tropical Tiki Mix. These were all made with their own brand Vodka, Gin, Rum and Bourbon usiung thier very own, in house made, all natural Mixers respectively. At the end of the tour, I was surprised that the final taste station provides a taste of each spirit straight up. Also, you may choose to purchase a taste of their premier Bourbon Whiskey for $10. It's worth mentioning these are all 1/2 ounce serving but enough to help you make up your mind on your favorites.
Gilbert D — Google review
I’ve been coming here since shortly after they opened in 2013 and somehow they manage to outdo themselves each time. Today, we did the bourbon tasting tour. Dominick was amazing! We learned a lot, tried some incredible bourbon, and had a great time.
Kristi A — Google review
Saint Augustine Distillery was such a fun time for our group! We loved trying the tasty cocktails and liquors—they were all delicious and unlike others we’ve had before in S Florida. The gift shop was also a blast, with lots of cool items to take home. Highly recommend stopping by!
Arturo A — Google review
This place does complimentary cocktail tastings with their spirits. Everything we tried was tasty. You work your way through the building on a self guided tour as you make stops at different tasting stations. The last tasting station is in the gift shop.

Flagler College, located in St. Augustine, FL, is a stunning campus known for its Spanish Renaissance architecture. The centerpiece of the campus is the former Hotel Ponce de Leon, built by Henry M. Flagler in 1888 and now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The college's beautiful surroundings make it a popular choice for engagement photos due to its architectural masterpiece and historic significance.
I toured Flagler College and downtown along with my brother. Architecture of this college is fabulous. Some of the detail is absolutely remarkable. Nice tour available without ever stepping foot on the property. Plenty of photo opportunities. I’d like to see the inside of some of the buildings at some point on a later more in-depth tour.

The Flagler College area is absolutely beautiful. The Spanish architecture is breathtaking. From the terracotta roofs to the red iron gaits and railings, this place is eye candy. Walked around and looked at the various hotels and other various buildings, all the same style and flair. When you tour the downtown Saint Augustine area, venture a little further down to see these sites.

It was like time traveling back to the Gilded Age where conspicuous luxury and customized environs and decor knew no bounds. Learning the history of the visionary team behind the project and the short amount of time this hotel was completed yielded many surprises for us!

Located in a great place I wonder if people really concentrate study as the city has lots of fun places and attractions. I Really enjoyed and recommend. Public Parking lot by the water and the old castle. $5 for 2 hours. Please click the Like icon if it is helpful

We didn’t do the official tour but we would next time. We just wandered around for a bit. A really neat campus and interesting history. The architecture, wood work, stained glass and ceilings were beautiful.

What an awesome piece of historic architecture this place is! Loved the tour and the old world feel of this place. Further, it’s full of firsts for its time. I’ll not spoil it for you but if you’re a history buff as I am you can’t afford to miss a stop at this place!!

Visited for the afternoon historic tour. This facility is simply stunning. It’s very existence is pivotal to what we now know as modern day Florida. The tour was interesting and hosted by one of the attending college students. While she did get a bit “tour-guidey”, she had some great insight into the main building’s history. The tour itself is just over an hour and takes you into some rooms you wouldn’t be able to see otherwise. A small portion of the tour is outdoors, so weather could be a factor. Our tour guide did a fantastic job picking a nice, comfortable, shady spot for our outside stop. If you’re in the area, and looking for brief afternoon activity, then you can’t go wrong with a historic tour of this campus.

St George St is a bustling pedestrian thoroughfare in St. Augustine, featuring a mix of eateries, retailers, and historic sites. Visitors can explore the area's charming streets lined with antiques stores, galleries, and shops offering original paintings, sculptures, and fine furnishings. The street is also home to numerous candy shops where tourists can indulge in treats like fudge and saltwater taffy.
Nice historical street with plenty of shops and restaurants. Everything walkable and located on the street. I definitely recommend checking it out. It is hard to find parking so I recommend doing the old town trolley tour with multiple drop off and pick up spots. This charming historical street is packed with shops and restaurants, all conveniently located on the same street. It’s a great place to explore on foot. Just be prepared for limited parking options, so consider taking the old town trolley tour for multiple drop-off and pick-up spots. Trust me, it’s a must-see!

This is a very scenic and historic district of St. Augustine! Plenty of shops and restaurants with anything you could want to eat and do. The buildings had great design and courtyards for sitting. It also hd trolley stops and plenty of restrooms. It’s very nice but beware of the crowds, it’s packed thick!

St. George Street is an absolute must-stop when visiting St. Augustine. It’s filled with shops, restaurants, and history around every corner, making it a great place to explore. The atmosphere is lively and there’s always something new to discover. That said, I’d recommend going during the week if possible, as weekends can get a little crowded. Overall, it’s one of the highlights of the city and definitely worth a visit.

The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum offers a unique historical adventure with its 1874 black-and-white striped lighthouse, museum, and shipyard playground. Visitors can explore the National Historic Landmark and discover centuries-old artifacts while immersing themselves in the stories of local fishermen and shipwrecked sailors. The museum also showcases over 300 years of St.
The St. Augustine Lighthouse is a pretty cool place to check out if you’re in the area. Admission is a little over $17 per adult, which is on the higher side, but it does give you access to the lighthouse, the museum, and the grounds. The lighthouse climb itself is 219 steps, but it’s really not too bad and the view at the top is beautiful, you get a great look at the coastal front and surrounding area. On a hot day, the museum is a big relief with air conditioning and has some interesting history and artifacts to browse through. The gift shop is also nice, with a big selection of souvenirs ranging from smaller keepsakes to more detailed items. Overall, it’s a neat experience if you want to see one of St. Augustine’s landmarks up close.
Carson S — Google review
Cool place to check out if you’re in the area. The lighthouse was the main attraction of course and it has signs to let you know how far up and how much further you have left as you climbed it. Once you get to the top the views and breeze are nice. The stairs are very narrow so you have to stop and wait or let people go by sometimes. But it’s not a bad hike at all! The rest of the sites are self guided and in old buildings but are maintained. Most have AC which is where you found the most people with it being so hot. There’s plenty of information and artifacts in each part you entered. Unless you’re stopping to read everything, the tour goes by pretty quickly. I highly suggest bringing water with you if you’re going during the summer months.
Nina C — Google review
The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum is an absolute must-visit. The property is full of rich history, and the view from the top of the lighthouse is truly breathtaking. While the climb does involve a lot of steps, it is well worth the effort. Beyond the lighthouse itself, there’s so much to explore—from learning how boats were built to seeing how recovered artifacts are carefully cleaned and preserved. This site offers a wonderful mix of history, hands-on learning, and stunning scenery. Definitely worth a stop when visiting St. Augustine.

My wife and I went to the special event at the top of the beautiful historic lighthouse. The event is held once a month to watch the sunset and the full Moon rise. We were rewarded with a beautiful sunset and the full moon rise over the ocean was awesome. Our experience was seriously diminished by the male volunteer that was supposed to be pouring champagne for all the guests but seemed totally focused in looking after two younger women whose glass were always full while we had to ask several times for a second half glass. The volunteer attitude changed a five star experience to barely a three stars. In future please have the volunteer treat all guests equally. At the opposite end we wish to commend Tammy as very pleasant and helpful with information about the lighthouse and in passing food around.
Patrick L — Google review
The set up is serene. Before even walking into the museum you're greeted immediately and all questions answered. Then you can walk leisurely through out. 218 steps in the lighthouse. Then exhibits , even little hiking trails around made it a full immersive experience. It's honestly a romantic, scientific and historical experience. Worth it.
Allison W — Google review
This is a beautiful place set back in some trees, not far from water. There's plenty of history to learn and over 200 steps to reach the top, which has some beautiful views of the area. This is a worthwhile place to explore. The staff are very friendly and eager to answer questions or help.
Brian S — Google review
This is a very well maintained lighthouse and facilities. Allowing self guided tours to the top was a nice feature. Nature trails, restored light keepers house, Coast Guard barracks, and other buildings brings a lot of historical facts to life. The ship wreck and military displays were great too. One of the best lighthouse visits I've had. Spent over two hours here.

Visiting the St. Augustine Lighthouse was such a great experience! Yes, it’s a lot of steps to the top, but the view once you get there is absolutely breathtaking and so worth it. I loved that there are spots to pause after each flight of stairs, which makes the climb much easier. Each of those areas also has interesting facts and history to read along the way, so you’re learning as you catch your breath. Definitely a must-see when visiting St. Augustine

The St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum offers an engaging and educational experience for visitors of all ages, transporting them back over 300 years to the Golden Age of Piracy in Port Royal, Jamaica. The museum boasts a diverse collection of artifacts, interactive exhibits, and movie props that bring the history of pirates to life. It's a perfect destination for families, school trips, scout outings, birthday parties, and corporate events.
Lots of history and one-of-a-kind artifacts here. They have bios on the most famous pirates. There are examples of pirate weaponry and tactics. The displays depict how life was on a pirate ship, and the responsibilities of the Captain and the crew. There are lots of interactive and hands on displays. There is a section with displays of actual pirate treasure, and a section that showcases pirates as shown through the eyes of Hollywood. There is also a museum shop. Family friendly.

The St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum is an absolute must-see! What a fascinating and fun museum to explore. The clever details in each area, the authentic artifacts, and the masterful use of lighting and shadows create a truly immersive experience. The interactive exhibits and the thrilling treasure hunt tie everything together, making it a blast for both kids and adults. This museum is a unique and entertaining experience that I highly recommend if you're in St. Augustine.

Five Stars! An Adventure for All Ages! This museum was an absolute hit with my family. I took my 7-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter, and they were both completely captivated from the moment we walked in. The St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum truly transports you back over 300 years to the Golden Age of Piracy in Port Royal, Jamaica. The experience manages to be both exciting and educational. For my 7-year-old, it was an inspiring deep dive into history, bringing the tales of pirates to life with real artifacts. My 4-year-old daughter was just as engaged, especially with the fantastic interactive exhibits that made sure she was part of the fun. The museum proves it's the perfect place for groups of all ages, keeping everyone entertained and learning simultaneously. We loved every minute of the experience. If you are looking for a unique family outing that will leave your kids feeling inspired to sail the seven seas, this museum is a must-see. We highly recommend it!

An absolutely amazing place! The atmosphere makes you feel like you’ve stepped onto a real pirate ship — fascinating exhibits, great interactive areas for kids, and so much excitement. Our children were thrilled, eyes full of wonder and joy. Pure happiness — highly recommend!

Of all the pure museums in St. Augustine, this one has the most interesting artifacts, including coin clusters, movie props, and even the last remaining pirate chest on earth. It's themed well, informative, and interactive, making it great for kids and adults alike. Last time I went, they had a scavenger hunt as well, and its not one of those hunts that are meant to prolong your experience to give the illusion that they have more than they do. If you are in the area and are looking for something fun to do, this would be a great pick.
Dan B — Google review
This was our family’s first trip to St. Augustine and had to stop at the Pirates & Treasure museum. It was fun and interesting to see artifacts and even got to interact in a pirate hunt during the visit. The gift shop had pretty neat souvenirs to purchase and the kids really enjoyed it! We loved being able to see real silver and gold shipwreck treasure and a real pirates chest! Would recommend stopping in!☺️ Staff was really friendly!
Teresa P — Google review
A tourist trap and nothing more. I’d suggest to ONLY do the colonial tour next door in the future. Skip this self guided tour. It’s very basic and just a time filler. Not interactive and our kids couldn’t wait to get out. It was to be fair pretty boring.
Justin — Google review
I had a great time at the St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum! This place is a total gem for anyone into pirate history or just looking for a fun outing. The collection of over 800 authentic artifacts, like a real pirate treasure chest and a Jolly Roger flag, is seriously impressive. The interactive exhibits, like firing a cannon or exploring the replica pirate ship, make it feel like you’re stepping into the Golden Age of Piracy. The self-guided setup lets you go at your own pace, which I loved, and the info plaques are packed with cool facts about pirates like Blackbeard and Sir Francis Drake. My only gripe is that it can get a bit crowded, especially on weekends, wish it was a bit larger, and the gift shop prices are a little high. Still, it’s a super fun and educational spot that’s totally worth checking out .

Fortress
Sights & Landmarks
The Castillo de San Marcos National Monument is a historic fort that offers self-guided tours, allowing visitors to explore from the drawbridge to the gun deck while enjoying views of Matanzas Bay. Situated in St. Augustine, it was built from 1672-1695 and served as a Spanish Empire post. Made from coquina, a locally sourced stone-like compound, the fort was never taken in battle.
This historic fort and museum is a must-visit! The grounds are beautifully maintained, and the staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing the area's rich history. We enjoyed exploring the exterior, where we spotted sea turtles, dolphins, and even a manatee at 6 p.m. The views of the sea are stunning, and the architecture is impressive. While we didn't take the tour, the self-guided walk around the grounds was enjoyable and informative. Parking is convenient, although it's best to arrive early to secure a spot and take great photos. Don't forget sunscreen, as the sun can be strong. The fort offers a fascinating glimpse into Spanish history and its significance in the United States. Overall, it's a humbling experience that's perfect for history buffs and families alike.

Very cool fort with great views. It was an extremely hot day so I highly recommend bringing a bottle of water with you and maybe even a small towel. 🥵There were 2 main levels and you could self guide yourself through it although they had a guided tour option. There was zero shade when you’re up on the top but you were able to see where they had the old firing cannons which was super cool. As you walk through each room they had plenty of artifacts and information which was helpful to understand. I felt that it was very well maintained and full of rich history! They do offer bathrooms inside as well.

In the heart of St. Augustine, Florida, a city steeped in history, the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument rises as a beacon of the past. Completed in 1695 after 23 years of painstaking labor that began in 1672, this breathtaking structure stands as a testament to Spanish ingenuity and determination. Originally conceived as a fortress to safeguard their treasures and secrets, its immaculate architecture commands attention, overlooking one of St. Augustine's most picturesque vistas. Though tours offer an immersive experience within its walls, even a glimpse from the exterior reveals the monument's unparalleled grandeur. Constructed from unique Coquina stone, the walls exhibit a mesmerizing mosaic of tiny shells, a strategic choice that proved impervious to English sieges. Today, the Castillo stands resolute, each piece of Coquina holding echoes of the past, while the land upon which it rests cradles everlasting memories along the bay. As visitors approach, they are transported back in time, captivated by the stories etched into every stone. The Castillo de San Marcos not only stands as a physical structure but also as a living narrative, preserving the legacy of those who built and defended it. Its enduring presence ensures that the tales of courage, strategy, and cultural heritage will continue to captivate and inspire generations to come.

This was an amazing experience, I enjoyed visiting the Castillo de San Marcos. The history here is incredible — it really feels like stepping back in time. The fort itself is beautiful, and the views of the water are awesome. The cannons were definitely my favorite part. It’s just one of those places that makes you appreciate how much history St. Augustine has to offer. Highly recommend it, go during the day and at night.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An incredible piece of history! The Castillo de San Marcos is absolutely breathtaking. The views of St. Augustine Bay are stunning, and the old Spanish stone walls make you feel like you’re stepping back in time. The park rangers do a great job explaining the fort’s history, and the cannon firing demonstrations are a must-see. It’s very well preserved, clean, and easy to explore at your own pace. Highly recommend bringing water and comfortable shoes — and take a moment to just enjoy the ocean breeze from the top walls. A perfect stop for history lovers, families, or anyone visiting St. Augustine!
Antonio M — Google review
Very cool historic castle to tour! The top offers a great view of the water and surrounding area, plus old cannons you can check out. On the ground level there are multiple rooms to explore, each with interesting displays and information about the history of the fort. You can also see step-by-step demonstrations of how soldiers would load and fire the cannons as well as their muskets, which is really fascinating. The staff dressed in Spanish army costumes brought the place to life and made the whole experience feel even more authentic. Definitely worth visiting if you’re interested in history or just want to see something unique.

The Castillo de San Marcos is always well worth the visit. The structure alone clearly articulates its history and its various functions from the 17th through the 20th centuries The grounds are well-maintained by the NPS and are excellent for walking. This fort is one of the many treasures that makes Saint Augustine the beautiful city that it is. To see the ancient walls lit up at night is breathtaking.

Super cool experience, you can definitely spend a good amount of time touring this castle. They also have an informative video that plays every hour or so that is pretty cool. Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, the largest fine arts museum in Northeast Florida, offers a captivating experience for art and nature enthusiasts. Situated on a riverfront site, the museum showcases over 5,000 priceless works of art from various eras. The historic beauty of the location is complemented by its lush gardens featuring rare horticultural specimens and canopies of oak trees. The picturesque backdrop of the St. Johns River adds a timeless charm to engagement photos taken in this romantic setting.
The museum is one floor and gorgeous. When I went, there was live music which was pleasantly surprising! At first I wasn't going to walk the gardens, but I had time and I'm glad I did! It was arguably the best part. I recommend take photos on the gardens and looking up some of the plants and flowers. The staff was nice as well.

Wonderful experience. Interesting displays and beautiful gardens. We visited on the first Saturday of the month, so it was free. But the $20 adult entry fee is very reasonable and worth it. We will return.

Spent the afternoon wandering the gardens, watching the butterflies, and enjoying all of the art. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and there to answer questions. The layout of the galleries and court yard was convenient and the bathroom facilities were clean and well kept. Parking was easy and free and I can't wait to go back and spend some more time looking at the paintings. I particularly liked Andrew Wyeth's gallery and recommend 10/10

First time visiting Jacksonville and this place was a must for me, I love museums and i got to say that this place is small but its very rich in art, love it, I'm from Ecuador and seeing a piece of art from Guayasamin made my day, also Carl, he was very nice and explained us the program that they have for kids and non-seeing people doing art, it was very very touching and we loved how he explained that to us! Museums needs more people like him! ❤️

MOSH, short for the Museum of Science & History, is a popular destination featuring aquariums and exhibits on various topics such as the human body, marine mammals, and energy. One of its main attractions is the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium, known for being one of the largest single-lens planetariums in the United States. Visitors can enjoy high-resolution shows and 3-D laser presentations during Cosmic Concerts.
MOSH is such a gem in Jacksonville! It's the perfect mix of fun and education for all ages. The exhibits are always engaging, especially the interactive science displays and local history sections. The planetarium shows are a must-see, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Whether you're visiting with kids or just exploring on your own, MOSH offers a meaningful and memorable experience every time. Highly recommend! Passport series are amazing

My toddler and elementary aged kiddos loved it here! The staff was friendly and while we didn’t play on it, the indoor playground (5 and under) looked very nice! Other than that area, though, it was all pretty run down at best and kinda janky in others. Either way, the kids couldn’t tell the difference and the older learned or brushed up on a lot of science! We took advantage of the EBT/WIC discount and got $3 entry for myself, free for one kid and then my toddler was free all the time.

We had a great time visiting the MOSH in Jacksonville! There’s so much to learn and explore here — definitely a place where both kids and adults can enjoy and take something away. One of the highlights of our visit was the “Skies Over Jacksonville” planetarium show. It was such an amazing experience — super informative and really well done. We learned so much! The staff at the front counters were incredibly friendly and helpful. They answered all of our questions and made us feel very welcome right from the start. There’s also plenty of parking available, which made the whole visit smooth and stress-free.Whether you're a local or just passing through Jacksonville, I definitely recommend stopping by MOSH. It’s a fun and educational experience for all ages!

An unfortunate waste of money. Unless the Dinosaur Exhibit is in town, there’s no justification to pay $88 for two adults and two children under 10. Seeing the entire museum took less than an hour and it was stifling and musty the entire time. The third floor was completely closed off, so we didn’t even have access to the whole museum. The only interactive children’s area, the “Creation Station” seems like an afterthought with building blocks and play structures with missing pieces (as pictured). Our 4 year old was disengaged and bored…there’s only so much excitement that shells and old artifacts can create. The one positive was the live animal room where we got to see two owls, two birds, and a handful of turtles. The local history was enjoyable and interesting, but again, doesn’t feel like enough to satisfy all ages. I truly hope that the new location will include a revamp of this museum, our city deserves it. We need to keep our youth in mind and create a more interactive experience, especially if you’re going to charge us like it.
Jenna B — Google review
We had a great time on a Sunday, arriving at opening. Parking lot was already starting to get be filled and when we left, it was families coming and going as we went. The actual museum as you can see from the many pictures and some video taken to be shared has much to been seen. That was with an entire 3rd floor closed this day and something closed off in hiding being made on 2nd. So there is much excitement for future visit. Learning everything from dinosaurs, space, establishment of Florida and the United States through out the years and so much more. It is a very awesome and interesting museum with a small zoo!!

**Disappointing Experience for a Screen-Free Family Outing** If you’re hoping for a screen-free, engaging family outing, I would not recommend MOSH. During my visit, I was disappointed by the overall condition of the museum, which seemed poorly maintained. Many signs and displays were visibly worn out or falling apart, which gave the impression of neglect. The animal exhibits were limited to a few creatures, including several turtles, a lizard, a small owl, and a pigeon. I was especially excited for the “Touch Tank” experience, but it turned out to be a letdown. After walking around in circles trying to find it, I eventually stumbled upon a small, empty tank surrounded by barriers. There was no signs saying when it would be back in use and the tank itself was not toddler-friendly as it was positioned too high off the ground. I had also looked forward to the “Creation Station,” imagining it would be a creative space for children. However, it was disappointing to find no art supplies at all—just a few old Christmas decorations still up (despite it being almost April), a small pile of Duplo Legos, a poorly made shape sorter with chipped paint, and a lone puzzle. It wasn’t at all what I expected. Upstairs, the atmosphere felt chaotic, akin to an arcade with numerous screen-based activities. And the history section was just ok. While I personally didn’t mind the history section with its few artifacts and lots of reading material, my children were uninterested. The lack of interactive displays beyond the screens made it difficult for them to engage. Additionally, the museum's facilities were problematic. The bathrooms were closed when I first arrived, though they eventually reopened. The building itself felt very hot, with only the lobby and gift shop offering any relief via air conditioning. The elevator had an unpleasant burnt rubber smell, and the third floor was completely closed off. Outside, there’s a small pond with a lone turtle, but this didn’t make up for the overall lack of activities. My toddler was bored within an hour, and I would recommend this museum more for older children who might better appreciate the screen exhibits.
Alison D — Google review
Hard to navigate. We did not find any dinosaurs that were spoken of besides the one allosaurus. The second floor was really neat. It was very off putting but in a cool and interesting way. The planetarium Orion show was underwhelming.

My 6 yr old nephew had a nice enough time but the museum feels stale and dated. I was lucky admission was free when we visited on Memorial Weekend . Excited to see the new, modern building in a few years. Tip: Check planetarium events, screenings, and showing times before you visit.

Wow-what an amazing zoo! We were so impressed by the beautiful animals and gardens. So clean and the animals had lots of area to roam. We spent 4 hours here and was blessed with the king of the jungle’s roar and up close contact with the giraffes! Best day ever!

Great afternoon adventure! We were visiting the Mayo Clinic and we decided to spend our afternoon at the zoo! We arrived about 12:00 and left at 5:00. It was the perfect amount of time. Our favorites were the gorilla’s and chimps. This is really a beautiful zoo with so many different species. Most of the paths are shaded which really makes it nice to walk around.

Had a fun experience with the family here. We bought the pass that includes the train and the whole experience. The grandkids loved the train and the play park for kids and the penguins the best. I'm sure lots of other things too. We went early on Sunday right after it opened. The lions and turtles were still sleeping. The food was good, portions were large. We had chicken strips and fries. The reusable drink cup is $10 and refills are I think $1.50.

When we travel, we always check out the local zoo. I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve lived in FL my entire life, and never visited the Jax Zoo. My hubby and I recently visited - twice within 6 weeks because it was sooooo good! Their exhibits are well done, the collection of animals is quite impressive and the grounds are well maintained. We thought the entrance fee was very reasonable and most employees / volunteers were helpful. 100% recommend for all ages. If walking is too much, suggest buying the pass that includes the train ride.

A great zoo. Pet the manta rays and even feed them. That’s quite the experience or feed the Giraffes. I never realized how big their heads are. Beautiful creatures. It’s great fun for all ages Make sure you choose the right plan for tickets. . General admission doesn’t entitle you the activity to go on the train or feed the Giraffes!

Jacksonville zoo is one of the best! The current metalworks are fantastic! There is a great playground for kids with a tree house, rope bridge, cement slides and more. It's a little pricey. If you're local, get an annual pass and go often! Highly recommend. Go and spend the day.

We finally visited the zoo and was not disappointed. We loved all the animals. Sometimes it does get sad knowing they are captive, but these animals had friends in their enclosures and looked like they were treated well and feed even better. The small inside reptile and amphibian walk through buildings were the most exciting to us! It was like a super game of hide and seek. The giraffe feeding was what we looking forward to all day. We were a tad disappointed that there was only one small area to feed, but lucky enough one of them was willing to come over and let us feed. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The train ride was fun also. We got on the train from the very start and rode to the back of the park and walked from back to front which was awesome in our opinion. The layout of the park is great also with one main road and the different areas branched from that. Plenty of restrooms along the way and areas to stop for dining or just a quick drink spot. Several areas had adult drinks..... this was like THE BEST PART. My daughter connect to the nature adventure compass and played along the whole way until it got disconnected and annoyed her. But all was fun and we 10/10 recommend. Just be careful with booking a hotel and make sure to do research about the area before you book.

Absolutely love this zoo! It was our first time going but will definitely be back. If you have not been or considering going I highly recommend. Out of all the zoos I have been to this is now a favorite!

Had a nice relaxing three day stay at this park while exploring the area. I like how there's a beach across the street from the Campground. Makes for easy sunset walks or an early morning swim.

It was a nice place , we were able to rent a kayak , good price and we had a blast! The park is huge , worthy and there are a lot of trails to bike or walk . Additional there is a beach , then you could spent the whole day there.

This is a beautiful County Park in Jacksonville. Your backing skills had better be on point however. The roads to the sites are very narrow with trees just off the edge, so not a whole lot of room for nose swing.

I recall the first time that I ever been to this park is when I used to be stationed at N.S. Mayport in 1993. My first visit was awesome and had no idea that this particular park was here. This picture is from 2019 and it was perfect timing when I took the picture. I love many types of birds and nature as well.

It is a beautiful place to get the camping and beach experience. One thing I would say needs improvement it's the bathrooms, mainly the showers in the campground. Other than that, my family and i enjoyed it this weekend.
Marilou A — Google review
Tried to go to the beach with our dog and we got turned around at the gate.. this was the first place that was dog friendly on their list of dog friendly beaches. We had to drive our boat on the ferry which was awesome. But this park was well worth all of it. Very clean and beautiful scenery. The park is spacious and large for hiking camping and just day trips. There's a splash pad and huge lake. We didn't get to explore much as we were just stopping by on our way home. Their little beach area was really cute and nicely kept. Water was clear and weather was nice. Perfect little area for family or for peace.

Nestled in Jacksonville, Florida, The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary is a heartwarming non-profit dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of exotic cats like tigers, lions, and pumas. This sanctuary serves as both a refuge for these magnificent creatures and an educational hub for visitors. Here, you can learn about the challenges faced by large cats due to habitat loss, environmental issues, and the dangers of keeping them as pets.
A great sanctuary that you can tell cares very much about the animals and the environments they are provided as well as the experience customers are receiving. We went on one of the hottest days of summer so unfortunately at the time we went, many of the animals were sleeping or retreating to shade, but there was still a lot to see and be excited about! My kids loved it. Highly recommend!
Kirsten U — Google review
we absolutely love coming here to see the cats and more! highly recommend attending the evening feeding on Friday or Saturday to see all the animals at their most active. the volunteers do such an amazing job explaining what they’re doing and about the cats and the sanctuary in general this is such a unique experience, I go out of my way to bring new people each time and they always love it. and each time you visit, you fund improvements for next time! just in a couple short years they have installed so many new features for the animals, and new footpaths and pavilions for us humans
C W — Google review
The enclosures are very spacious and very well maintained. The animals look very healthy and well taken care of. It's hot during the day (time of our visit), so animals are very inactive. Only 1 tiger and bear were up, walking around to be able to see up close. We wanted to do a night feeding tour, but my grandsons wouldn't be in town. It's definitely worth a visit for the cost. I look forward to going back when it's cooler outside.

This is an awesome rescue. Very interesting. We went to a feeding. The price was great. 45 for entry, a t shirt and drink. I definitely recommend checking them out. I would wear tennis shoes next time and spray for mosquitoes. Great place I will be back.

Our Saturday evening visit to Catty Shack Ranch was great! On Friday and Saturday evening at the Catty Shack you can see the big cats and animals being fed around 7. The park opens at 6 so we went in early to enjoy seeing all the great enclosures that have been built for each specific animal to enjoy. We were told that Earth Works works together with the preserve to build their beautiful water features. Also, our good friend Mike Frailey has worked diligently to build many of the platforms and habitats in their enclosures. Every animal there has been rescued for many different reasons and cannot live in the wild. The park is clean and well designed so you can see each magnificent animal. They are also open from 1 - 3 on weekdays to visit. The admission to the park goes to the care and food for the animals. It is a very fun and rewarding way to spend a Friday or Saturday evening. Please go, enjoy and help these animals at the same time. The park is very easy to find which is near the Jacksonville Airport area.

This place is not just a hidden gem, it’s a unique place that actually care for animals and saves them. I saw these guys online while googling “what to see in Jacksonville” and bought tickets for night-time feeding. We visited on Aug 29,2025 and it was perfect temperature. BE AWARE that if you are wearing bike shorts or anything short like that - use bug spray because there are a lot of mosquitoes. They have those sprays on the tables (when you walk around animals already) on case you don’t have one with you. Feeding was so cool, and all the volunteers and workers were so professional and friendly! We were able to see all the animals! And almost all of them were playing/interacting somehow, not just sleeping :). Totally worth the money! And they do have cool tshirts if you purchase a ticket with a free tshirt!

The night feeding was a great activity to bring the kids to. The staff is super friendly and engaging and you learn a little bit about the animals while they are given dinner. Good assortment of rescue animals to see. The facilities and pens are kept clean and there are almost no bad smells. Be careful the lions do like to splash and play!

I love this place. It's so peaceful and full of the beautiful sights and sounds of God's creation. Definitely be wary and respectful of the wildlife. Protect yourself from ticks and other biting bugs and insects. There's various trails for walking and biking. I don't believe dogs are allowed on most trails. Please slow down when driving the drivable trail as animals do cross the road.

This is an amazing place to visit if you have the chance!! Self guided tour through the Refuge. So much history here to learn about. We saw a small alligator while visiting. We were able to find the abandoned reflecting pond and fountain. I highly recommend bringing a walking stick if you have one. As well as sunblock, bugspray, and plenty of water! Make sure to watch for spiders and their webs while also keeping your eyes open for the alligators. I would definitely visit again if given the chance to see more of what we missed the first visit through.

We used to take long drives through Harris Neck when we lived in South Georgia. The roads are narrow and worn on this former air base, but the 15 mph speed limit allows you to appreciate the scenic beauty of the old base. It's a drive filled with bird life of all kinds, even a wild turkey. Sometimes you'll even see alligators sunning themselves on the banks of the many small ponds.

My wife and I were just looking for some place to go. This place is AMAZING!!! So peaceful and yet so very alive. Jurrasic park alive! The wildlife is almost overwhelming. Gators, Storks by the hundreds, Egrets and Comerants. All in a calming, peaceful, and natural silence. We found our "go too" spot

I loved this place. Right now the wood storks are nesting. A few weeks from now around May 1st or so the babies hatch. And it’s CRAZY with the amount of GIANT birds that fly around. The best view of this is actually handicap accessible. Park next to the road, and about 100 feet along a wide grass path are the front seats to Jurassic park.

Sights & Landmarks
Bonaventure Cemetery, immortalized in the best-selling "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" novel, is a serene and beautiful cemetery located just east of the Historic District. Established in 1846, this Southern Gothic garden spans over 160 acres on a bluff above the Wilmington River. The cemetery's landscape is a mix of natural beauty and sculptural artistry, with tree-lined roads adding to its unique charm.
Walks through old cemeteries are always quietly thought provoking and Bonaventure is no exception. Its uniquely southern semitropical environment gives it a very different feeling, moodier than most even in the blazing hot mid morning sun of August. Beautiful stonework throughout with often poignant inscriptions and dates of historical significance. Fewer statuary than I expected but still several really pretty but weathered examples. This cemetery is well worth a visit though I’d opt for going without the ever talking guides.

Absolutely amazing. My partner and I travel the world focusing on famous cemeteries. This one did not disappoint. Make sure to get a map from the front office. Sections C through H are where most of the interesting internments and statues are

This historic cemetery still has active burials occuring within its bucolic and gently rolling terrain, amidst many old, beautiful and diverse trees and shrubs. The depth of history here goes back to colonial times with many different types of monuments, mausoleums and gravestones present. Some of the property borders the waterfront making for a diverse experience overall. Quietly walking these hallowed grounds is both solemn and touching.
Wind S — Google review
As cemeteries go, this one is quite unique and visually interesting to see! Pictures don’t quite do it justice. Free to visit. I recommend driving inside and finding a spot to park and walking around for a bit. Then you can get back in your car and drive through the rest. Some very old graves here going back to the 1800s if not 1700s. A great variety in the various headstones and monuments and tombs, etc., and all the magnolia trees and Spanish moss just give it a very unique atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Really cool park in Savannah. Very popular with travelers and locals alike. The Fountain is probably the most popular draw. But, tucked away in a corner of the park is a walled garden. I've been there about 20 times and could only access it maybe 3 or 4 times. Kind of reminds you of the secret garden. Great place to stretch your legs, take your dogs, or even just relax and read a book.

This park is fabulous! It’s a busy place on Saturday with soccer, ultimate frisbee, tennis, basketball, and anything else you can imagine. It also features a wonderful market along the central, live oak-line walkway. The fountain is beautiful and there’s construction happening and it looks like maybe a new zen garden is coming. There is a stage and I’d love to come back for a concert one day. Locals and visitors should take advantage of this amazing outdoor space early and often!

Simply stated, it’s one of the most beautiful cities you can visit. This time of year the weather is perfect for touring the town. Take the Trolley tour. There are 16 stops and the drivers are very knowledgeable about all the history and the buildings/homes. The selection of restaurants is incredible, ranging from burgers to fresh seafood. It’s also very walkable, within reason. Parking can be very difficult to find in the Garden District. Take the trolley, it’s goes to many places around the city.

Savannah is a beautiful city to explore!! Lots of history. We unfortunately only had a day, and it definitely wasn't enough time. We did the hop on hop off trolley tours. It was nice to have transportation around the area for the day while also having the freedom to just get off and explore. Which I highly recommend you do! The cemetery was very neat to see. I hope on our next trip to see more of what Savannah has to offer. These photos are just a glimpse into what we saw and what you can look forward to seeing yourself.

Walking down the waterfront was also nice and watching the boats pass by was neat. There is so much to look at and visit. The shops have a variety of options and restaurants to choose from. The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist is a 19th-century Roman Catholic church known for its neo-gothic architecture, stunning stained glass, and music recitals. Situated in Savannah's Historic District, it features twin 200-foot white spires that dominate the skyline. The cathedral is one of the largest in the southern states and attracts numerous visitors who come to admire its external architecture.
A beautiful mini Basilica filled with lots of art- paintings, windows, and statues. Our teenagers were amazed. We attended the 10 am mass on Sunday and felt welcomed. There was street parking, incense was burned at this mass time (which is announced on their website), and we went to the coffee shop across the street after- (it was packed!). Definitely a must see Cathedral if in Savannah!

This cathedral basilica was BEAUTIFUL. The member of the church who gave us the history on the cathedral was very knowledgeable, kind and non judging. I would LOVE to visit here again. I'm not religious however I would definitely love to attend a service here one day.

A beautiful and grand church building. The tour is self-guided and can be completed in a relatively short time. A docent was present to speak with visitors. He was friendly and knowledgeable. If you like organ music, go early. We were told that the organist often practices during the first hour of the morning tour period. The best part: there is no admission fee! A nominal freewill offering is requested.

Absolutely beautiful! I did not take an official tour. Just went in and explored. Friendly staff. The front outside was under construction, but I think it will be lovely once it is restored. This is an historical landmark, beautiful, serene and definitely worth seeing. Don't forget to leave a donation before you leave; they need this to keep the cathedral beautiful and historic.

The Cathedral was beautiful. It is open to the public during certain times as listed outside the building, but does have an active congregation with masses. There is no admission charge, but donations are encouraged and appreciated. Guests are asked to be respectful and quiet so those around them can have a quiet prayer time. We are definitely glad we hopped off the tour bus to go inside and see the beauty inside.

Southern restaurant (US)
The Olde Pink House is a top choice for experiencing authentic Southern cuisine in Savannah. Housed in an elegant 18th-century Georgian mansion, the restaurant offers a sophisticated dining experience with portrait-lined walls, fireplaces, and shimmering chandeliers. The menu features inventive Southern dishes including seafood, beef, pork, and chicken options as well as classic Southern favorites like shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes.
The food was absolutely amazing!! The biscuits are fantastic, possibility the best I have ever had. We had the fried green tomatoes for our appetizer. I had the special, short ribs, my husband had the pecan crusted chicken. My husband and I ate here to celebrate our anniversary. The place is gorgeous, we failed to realize it is more of a casual dress style. However, they still let us enjoy our evening with them. We did have some trouble reading our menu due to the darkness of the room. They did have candles to make it more romantic but they did not give off enough light. The manager even remembered us and wished us a happy Anniversary on our way out!!
Valerie K — Google review
We made reservations for five at the Pink House months earlier and it was wonderful. The property is beautiful and is in a great location easy to walk to. The service was five star, they were attentive and answered all our questions. We ordered chicken pot pie, the bourbon glazed pork loin was medium rare and it paired well with the pecan glazed sweet potato and collared greens which were the best I ever had. The fried chicken looked great and the portion was generous. The interior was beautifully decorated. We sat in the green room which had a cozy fireplace and a magnificent chandelier. This was definitely a must see.

This was a fantastic dining experience from beginning to end. Our server Shaina was an absolute super star! She was tremendously welcoming and gracious and very helpful. It was obvious that she enjoys what she does and loves all the great things that The Olde Pink House brings to the table. She was extremely knowledgeable on the entire menu as well as the history of this special establishment. The food was absolutely delicious and full of great flavors that were fresh and cooked perfectly. The cocktails were excellent as well. Another nice touch was a very special woman that came around to sing a requested song or sing happy birthday. I was fortunate enough to request a tune and also sing a duet with her on Amazing Grace! Overall. It was a fantastic evening and one that will remain in my heart for a long time. Definitely worth checking out if you are in town!

Not to be missed, make a reservation. A lovely historic house with well trained staff. Food was creative and presented well. A little warm inside (they had the fires on low for some reason), - I felt it could have used a couple of fans to move the air. However a great restaurant and very popular for a reason.

Having dinner at the Olde Pink House was such a treat! Our server Issac was so sweet and knowledgeable, the food was perfect, and the atmosphere was a cozy and welcoming 10/10. We had the stuffed flounder, the fried chicken and macaroni and cheese, the southern sushi, the fried green tomatoes, and the chocolate tarte for dessert. Every item was equally delicious in its own right. We also popped downstairs to the tavern and would absolutely go back and have drinks and food there again! So cozy and historic and the live music was such a great touch.
Brittany W — Google review
We went for dinner for my birthday and thought the food was good but not excellent. It’s also a bit of a production as they come and get you when your table is ready from the bar downstairs but can’t transfer your bill to your table. The she crab soup and spring roll as appetizers were okay — would actually skip appetizers if I came back. Loved my grilled pork for the main though and the sweet potato was also delicious. The Mac and cheese and fried green tomato was just okay. The biscuit is the true shining star at this restaurant, so don’t skip out on that.

Do yourself a favor: go to The Olde Pink House while in Savannah. From the moment we walked in the door, we felt welcomed with big smiles and friendly Staff. We were seated by a charismatic Host in a great location upstairs. Our Server, Dennis, showed up immediately with a welcoming smile and caring, genuine attitude. He brought us some tasty homemade cheese straws, while we chose our entrees. We had great conversation with Dennis as he educated us on the history of the house and the city. We decided to get the fried chicken and the special, which was fried flounder in a tarragon spice on a bed of seafood risotto. I will tell you with all honesty that the fried chicken is the best we have ever had, and we are from the South. With every bite, you can taste the history of the house and the city. The chicken was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, perfectly cooked. The chicken stayed hot from the time it arrived at the table to the last bite. It was truly magical. The special was also well cooked and full of flavor. Our experience was perfect and would absolutely go back. We've told everyone about the fried chicken and I could not wait to write a review so more people will know just how delicious it is. The Olde Pink House is full of character, personality, great Staff and wonderful food. Go to the Olde Pink House: you will be so glad you did.

We booked a table for lunch a month in advance. Dinner is more difficult to book. The setting is beautiful, in the historic district opposite savanna's Reynolds Square. The house dates from 1771 and it's classically appointed . The food and drinks were all tasty - classic Southern fare with creative twists. Service was attentive but a bit rushed. Worth a visit! Beautiful place, it’s like Europe. My ideal fun place, the boat and the trolleys, next time when I travel to Savannah, I will be well prepared. There are parking places , but on weekends, parking might be difficult due to space limitations.

BEAUTIFUL! Parking was easy. You do have to pay for parking. Every street had a walkway over the dunes that led to the beach. The beach wasn't overcrowded. Everything is clean and perfect!

With an array of walking paths and multi-use trails stretching over six miles, visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of secluded forests and vibrant wildflower fields, especially breathtaking during springtime. For those seeking adventure, guided boat tours offer a chance to spot alligators and other wildlife while enjoying the serene waterways.
These were really nice trails in the woods, very peaceful and nice. Families, people walking dogs there. Can get a little desolate. Spotted lots of turtles and an alligator. Really liked it, great place to walk off a meal. $9 per car to enter the area. Were no restrooms by trails we were at, may have been some elsewhere in the area.
D Z — Google review
Went during the week day. Very nice and beautiful! Saw alligators and lots of other wildlife! We had a Sea pines pass to get in not sure what protocol is used if you don't have a pass.
Sarah S — Google review
Beautiful park with so much to do! There's plenty of trails to explore throughout the preserve with abundant wildlife! Make sure if you're walking the trails to bring plenty of BUG SPRAY!!! The mosquitoes on the preserve are from Jurassic Park, so be prepared! Plenty of turtles and a few gator sightings as well! Kids had a great time!
Chris B — Google review
The forest preserve was very nice and peaceful. There is a driving entrance and a walking entrance. The driving entrance allows you to drive your car around the preserve. The walking entrance allows you to park your car so you can get out and walk along the trails and boardwalks. From what we saw, it looks like you can also rent bikes and book a horse ride. It is $9 to enter the Sea Pines area.

We went for a nature walk with hopes to see some gators and we got both! I do suggest grabbing a map before taking the walking trails bc it was confusing on the way back from Lake Joe. We didn't get a map until the way back where we made a wrong turn and walked for a long time before figuring out way out. But it was fun and beautiful sunny weather so we didn't mind. There is informational brochures at the parking area as well as the maps. And a lot of cool informational posts throughout the walk. We had a blast! It's so beautiful and very well kept!

We just had the most amazing alligator tour in Hilton Head with Anthony, our incredible guide! He’s a 6th grade science teacher, a master naturalist, and even wrote a book about the local nature—which shows in every part of the experience. The tour takes you out on a very safe boat where you get up close with the area’s wildlife. We saw alligators, turtles, birds, and even snakes (we got to hold a small one!). Anthony’s knowledge and enthusiasm made it fun and educational for everyone. It’s the perfect adventure for families—we brought our 8-year-old niece, and she was fascinated the entire time. Can’t recommend this tour enough!

A very nice hiking trail. There is a boardwalk that takes you through a swampy area. We saw quite a few turtles as we walked this area. The hiking trails are not very long and it was not too hot, so it made for an enjoyable walk.
Steve K — Google review
Trail numbered but maps not. Parking ok but not great and no restrooms so be prepared. Some paved and traveled trails and boardwalk. Heard many birds didn't see but 2 or 3. Great views of nature and island vegetation. Definitely need better maps and markings to follow.

Even though we didn’t have the best weather, this beach is really beautiful. Lots of great shopping areas and restaurants. The people are friendly. No mosquitoes or bugs, at least we didn’t get bothered by any. Took maternity photos and saw lots of other families taking family photos, wedding photos, etc.

This is a beautiful beach with a small boardwalk that leads to the clean beach. The boardwalk is lined with lots of seating under covered structured areas. The restrooms and changing areas are separate and clean. There's a handicapped parking lot located at the entrance to the boardwalk. It has 10-15 spaces. As you enter the area there's a water fountain for children to play, surrounded by benches for the parents to sit and watch. Dogs are allowed on the beach before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m. Dogs must be leashed.

A beautiful public beach. They also have free parking nearby. The beach is clean and the white sands are nice. The ocean also was not very rough so you could go into the surf without fear. Lifeguards are present as well. They have chairs and umbrellas for rent. The walk to the beach is well cared for and the plaza is also clean and inviting. Public restrooms are also clean.

Great little park with restrooms, well-maintained paths around the park with great access to the ocean. Large parking lot located right across the street. Benches, great artwork, incredible landscaping, and a large fountain. Highly recommend you visit here. Great place for a picnic or family event. Was not too crowded when we were here. Park is wheelchair accessible with a great entrance, parking lot and restroom

A beautiful fine-sand beach with excellent amenities, including plentiful free parking, wifi hotspot, restrooms, rinse stations, even a bicycle tool and air up station! The park is located near Coligny Plaza Shopping, so you can walk the beach and then easily stroll to one of the many excellent restaurants very nearby. The beach is very clean and well kept, even includes a large shared toy box for the kids. Dog friendly, and typically not too crowded, at least in October when we like to visit. The views are beautiful, and you might see a fishing boat troll by. My favorite east coast beach by far. Free wifi and parking. Wheelchair accessible with a well maintained roll-out boardwalk to the sand. Miles of beach in each direction.

We went to this beach for the family vacation. It’s just a short walk from most rentals, safe, family-friendly, and never feels too crowded. The sand is soft and clean, perfect for walking barefoot, and even on cloudy days the weather stays mild. The water and waves are warm and gentle, making it a great spot to swim or just relax.
Sondra F — Google review
The perfect beach. There’s plenty of room. Nice water and nice sand. I need to come back this summer when the water is warmer. The bathrooms are extremely nice and parking is free!!!
Grant W — Google review
The terrain of the beach is flat so you can walk atleast a hundred meters into the ocean, calm waves and white sand. One of the cleanest beach i visited so far. Great facilities for visitors like changing rooms, shower facility, a shack on the beach and lots more. Clean and green and ample parking space.

Hallowed ground on Hilton Head Island! Right now the aroma of the Star Jasmine is heaven sent!

Very well maintained, family-friendly park with a nice scenic view of the marsh and Broad Creek. There are plenty of seating areas along with covered picnic tables. There are normally food vendors in the area, so there is no need to worry about going hungry. Nice playground for the kids. If you prefer a restaurant before or after, just stroll across the street, and you will find pretty much anything you could want. Nice place to go and relax.

Beautiful park with lots to enjoy! Wide open spaces make it perfect for walking, kids, dogs, and community events. We visited before lunch and enjoyed taking our little one to the playground and strolling the sculpture trail. The grounds are very well maintained, with plenty of benches and shaded spots to sit and relax.

A beautiful park sitting on the water, and at the foot of several wonderful shops and restaurants. Just a great spot for pictures, or a scenic walk
Ronin R — Google review
Shelter Cove Community Park is a very well-designed shopping center, community park for the whole family to enjoy. All of the photos were taken on our recent visit at Christmas and the park is just beautiful! The playground is great with rubber mulch and very cushioned for wild kids like mine:). Large grass area to run around or picnic with the family. Hilton Head puts on events there all the time such as movie nights under the stars, snow at the beach, 4th of July celebrations etc. Check with the community calendar to make sure you don't miss out on any of the great events going on there. This is a park we often take people that come to the beach to visit us. They always seem to maintain the park very well and we will continue to go there as it is just a great place to hang out, walk around, shop, eat, date night and of course go and see Santa Clause at Christmas!

This was one of our favorite stops as a family on our day-long biking trip! Beautiful waterfront views and a very well put-together park with lots of seating, a very nice playground (with video surveillance), and restrooms. This park is right next to the French Bakery and other good eateries.

This is a wonderful place to watch the sunset. There are walking trails, picnic benches and a nice playground for kids. Lots of children, families, teens and elderly enjoying the evening. Several people were walking their dogs. This location is near the marsh and is very peaceful. We saw lots of water birds flying overhead heading to the rookery for the night.

This is a real gem on HHI. A great place to visit for its interesting features about island history, local gift items and the spectacular grounds and gardens. The giant live oak trees, loblolly pines and walking trails are beautiful. We enjoyed it so much that we visited 3 times during our stay. Highly recommend a visit. You won’t be disappointed.

We visited twice on our family vacation and are so glad we did. Our first visit was for the creature craft which was free, just a quick cute craft of a sea turtle. Really enjoyable for our four year old. We did the scavenger hunt outside afterward and learned a lot about the area! Our second visit was for the farmers market and face painting. A great market, many different vendors: local farmers with lots of produce, popsicles, animal goods, soaps, scrubs, handmade goods and more. Highly recommend visiting. The face painter was really sweet and did a great job.

What a fantastic museum. 2 year old daughter loved every minute of it. The walk is beautiful, and very interesting with the history and information on the wildlife and plants. Would have happily paid entry to these grounds, however it is free. They have optional donation box so we were able to donate. We didn’t have the time but I think you could spend almost an entire day here to see everything.

Great place to walk around, lots to see. Very educational. No Alligators as shown, because it's salt water. Nice artwork for sale in museum area. No food, just some snacks. Worth a look.

My adult children, 4 year old grandson and my husband and I enjoyed it very much. There is so much to see and learn about the coastal wetlands and it is free for everyone. We were given a list of questions that could be answered at numbered stops on the trail. I enjoyed watching my grandson looking for the answers to the questions about the marshes and the animals that live there.

This is a nice diversion from Hilton Head Island activities. There is a museum in the main house and a walking trail through the grounds. There are many gardens to explore and they have a butterfly house. They even have a piece of a titan rocket that was found washed ashore and is now on display. Staff were friendly and the hike was relaxing. Admission is free but they do accept donations.
Steve K — Google review
we loved it. we learned a lot about Hilton Head Island and its origins. we also learned abouts terrapins, horseshoe crabs, the American alligator and hermit crabs. we enjoyed the butterfly conservatory and walking around the property. total A+ experience.
John L — Google review
Lovely free museum, with huge grounds full of stuff to check out like a butterfly garden, carnivorous plant garden, and a whole boardwalk. Unfortunately, it was raining that day so we could only enjoy the Discovery House. But there's plenty to do in there that took up about an hour and a half... Lots of exhibits to view, Myrtle the turtle, gift shop, and a lovely bee photography show.

Middleton Place is a historic plantation located about fifteen miles northwest of Charleston, with roots dating back to the 1730s. Once home to the influential Middleton family, it holds significant historical value as the residence of notable figures such as Henry Middleton and Arthur Middleton, who played key roles in American history. The property suffered damage during various conflicts, including being ransacked by British troops and burned by Union soldiers.
I was completely impressed by the value for the price of the tickets both for the general admission and the house tour. The grounds are not only gorgeous, but all the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. I spent the better part of a day there meandering through at my own pace. Will absolutely return whenever possible!
Audra M — Google review
I highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance. It made the entrance easy and was able to plan ahead to think about what guided tours we wanted to do in advance. The grounds at Middleton are gorgeous! We learned about the Middleton family, some of the people who worked on the plantation through the years and the historical significance of plantation in shaping history. I wished the docent were more explicit about why the black slaves did not runaway or when they did the harsh repercussions. There was vert discussion about the psychological scarring of slavery and the fear instilled upon all.
Rachael N — Google review
It’s like taking a step back in time when entering this rice plantation. The gardens are kept in a way that you can feel the history and age. The knowledge from the staff and the few tours we did was impressive. We spent about 4hrs doing two small tours and enjoying the grounds.
David R — Google review
I’m really glad I had the opportunity to visit this plantation. Its story is at the heart of America’s colonial beginnings. Several tours are included with the price of admission and I appreciated their Garden Tour as well as their Beyond Slavery Tour. Whether your walking the grounds, coming for lunch, or learning it’s deep history, one could easily spend the day here.
Lisa — Google review
My daughters and I visited yesterday. We took the Beyond the Fields tour, about the Enslaved People's experience, with Linda. We all found it to be very informative and even emotional. The property is well preserved and tended and the docents are quite knowledgeable. The Middleton Oak is magnificent. Being mid-August, the weather was hot and humid which, combined with an approaching thunderstorm, cut our visit short. We agreed that our visit was a highlight of the trip.
Tara B — Google review
This place is absolutely beautiful and the guides are great! Put on your walking shoes and prepare to see alligators. I would like to see access to the house included in admission price as it is not cheap. Also please have sandwiches/wraps in snack bar that is at entrance.

We were in town from Michigan to attend a Sunday wedding. The wind was very strong and the temperature really dropped. The wedding was held outside by the large trees. It was very scenic but quite a walk from the parking lot to spot wearing high heels. The parlor where the reception was held was a bit overwhelmed by the number of guests. There were no cocktail tables to place snacks and cocktails prior to the reception starting. The food was great and the bartenders were very attentive. It was a romantic spot for a wedding but from a logistics perspective, very challenging to get transportation to and from our hotel. Guests had to take the shuttle to and from the venue. The reception ended by 10:30 PM to account for the return shuttles to the hotel. Family and friends made it a wonderful event.
Olga L — Google review
I could have spent days here instead of just a few hours. The vast grounds offer dazzling landscapes. There are tours and stories about the generations of families who lived here, both the enslaved and the plantation owners. It is a trip back in time.
