Star Gazing... I was at the Fish Hatchery for the peak of the Perseid meteor shower (2023). There's minimal light pollution and it's an incredible area by Mirror Lake. The night sky was crystal clear and the beautiful Milky Way stretched across the heavens. Between 2 and 4am, I saw maybe a dozen big bright fireballs streak by and many smaller meteorites grazed our atmosphere with more subtle trails. It was a wonderful time. I also saw 6 deer, 2 raccoon, 1 possum and a Great Horned Owl that briefly landed in a tree near me...it was a busy place!

Awesome place; the staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful! They do get annoyed if you show up outside of normal hours (8-4 excluding weekends and holidays), so I would recommend avoiding that,

Very cool place. They do a lot of good for the local fisheries in the area.

The Aladdin coal tipple is a pretty cool little road side historic attraction in Eastern Wyoming that I would definitely recommend checking out if you happen to be in that area. It is only about 40 minutes away from Sturgis South Dakota, so I go and visit the Aladdin Coal tipple when I am in Sturgis for the Motorcycle Rally. Every time I have visited there has been no you else there, which is always nice. The structure is fenced off because of how old it is and is ready to collapse. But the history of the structure and the coal mining industry that used to be present is quite the cool history lesson.
B A — Google review
Fun roadside stop telling of time gone by. I hope they protect the tipple from 'tippling'. Not many of these originals left.
Jackie M — Google review
It's a cool piece of history and nice little walk. But be careful it appears to be falling apart with a large fence around it to keep people from approaching. It has fun little facts all round it.
C. L — Google review
Interesting to look at. There are several plaques explaining history and purpose. The path goes part way around it. It does not appear to be heavily visited or maintained. .It was a nice maybe 10 minute break from the car.
Lisa F — Google review
It's a good place to stop, have a rest and take a closer look at the falling apart tiny piece of great American industrial history. And yes - hurry up, because "Structure in IMMINENT DANGER of collapse".
Eugene P — Google review
Awesome piece of roadside history and definitely worth the stop, well done preservation efforts while keeping it mostly original.
Tony I — Google review
Unfortunate they have let this degrade so much but it was an interesting pitstop and good bit of history to learn about. Fenced off for safety but you can still view it decently.
Cyndi H — Google review
This structure is really old, and it is amazing to see that it is preserved and cared for. It is great that such a tiny town has a local treasure as well.

Aladdin General Store

I stopped by the historic general store in Aladin, and it was like stepping into a different era. This charming store has been around for ages, proudly holding the title of the oldest general store in the area. As I walked in, I was greeted by the nostalgic feel of the original old post office, which has been preserved and still operates today. The store is a treasure trove of essentials and surprises. From bullets for your firearm to snacks, drinks, and everyday necessities, they've got everything you might need in this tiny town of just 15 residents. The store's role extends beyond just shopping – it's a gathering place where locals and visitors can connect. The on-site bar is the perfect spot to grab a refreshing drink and take a break. The friendly staff and old-school ambiance make it a unique experience that's worth stopping for. Whether you're passing through or a local, this general store is a must-visit for its history, charm, and sense of community. *Tips:* - Stop by the post office for a unique mailing experience - Explore the aisles for some unexpected finds - Grab a drink at the bar and chat with the locals *Recommended for:* History buffs, those looking for a unique experience, and anyone passing through Aladin

This place is awesome. Blast from the past. No BS here ! Authentic. Stacey runs the place. She’s awesome. She’s does double duty. Bar tender and store manager!! A must visit. If you are a lefty. Don’t advertise it. Won’t be welcome. Down to earth place. And great people.

Rustic stop while at 2025 Sturgis Rally. Cold beer, good food and lots of bikers. Store is a pretty neat stop with lots of touristy stuff. Many humorous t-shirts and nickknacks, key chains, magnets, rocks, and so on. Expect tourist prices. Was a fun place to get off the bike and rest a while before getting back on the road. Will be back again next year!

This is a great store, which was pretty unexpected to see in a town of such a small size. There are plenty of very nice souvenirs and clothes. The owner Trent is very friendly and welcoming.

Sad that it was closed when we passed by, this was our 3rd time visiting and this time we brought a friend from Spain but oh well, it was closed.

Long live places like this. I grew up going to stores like this in Virginia and sadly most are gone now. Thanks to Walmarts and dollar stores they are fading memories. This place is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. If you still have an old country store near where you live, support them and keep the small businesses in business!
Todd R — Google review
On our way to Devils Tower we stopped at this little store in Aladdin. There was a population sign right next to the store that said Pop 13. Our family vacation group suddenly realized we had doubled the size of the town just by showing up. What fun. There were snacks and friendly people inside the store, cold drinks and a significant number of souvenirs to choose from. All in all it was a positive stop, but we wouldn't have gotten gas at the pump because at that time it looked like original equipment.

This site is one of the possible many areas where native people would use to hunt for Buffalo and possibly other large animals. Very unique site. Lots of information is posted all around this site. It's on the north side of I-90, right if the frontage road.

We were driving by and decided to stop in for a quick tour. Josh, our guide, was a very smart young man and walked us through the site. We really enjoyed learning about the history of Vore buffalo jump and recommend to all ages!
Jessica T — Google review
🤍 Jackie was such an amazing tour guide! She was EXTREMELY knowledgeable and fun to listen to! We loved hearing all her knowledge, the history on this site, we discussed theories and thoughts 💭 📝 These pics don’t do the tour Justice. Hearing them give you the full history in person is where it’s at! It’s worth it! 🦬 Seeing the butcher site in person is a really cool experience. Definitely stop in and check it out. Their gift shop is full of things to choose from. This site is truly incredible to see and hear about the history dating back umteen thousand years ago!

We were happy to make this stop from Deadwood on our way to Devils tower. We were not aware of the history here it's a small location but awesome to see the gentleman that gave us a tour is the owner he has a lot of history here small museum and we were able to enter the area's of the actual diggs for bison fossils. Amazing stories here. To get to the fossil u have to be able to walk down to the location just an ( fyi ) in case of mobility difficulties .
Connie J — Google review
Well worth the detour off the highway. Dedicated bunch of volunteers who offered so much information. Asked for a small donation when we said we could not stay for the whole tour down j to the site (45 minutes). But she took us out to the sink hole and explained how the. Native Americans had used the site to hunt bison.
Alexandra M — Google review
We stopped in on our way through the area, Josh our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative. This place is rich with Native American history. An absolute must see if you have an interest in Native American history. Don't just drive by, stop in a learn a few new things. Thank you Josh for being our tour guide today. You really would make an amazing Park Ranger.
Meradeth H — Google review
Anatoly was a great tour guide. This was our second time to Vore Buffalo Jump, and it is a gem! Highly interactive, great for teens and adults. Requires some walking down and up hill, but the paths are paved, and almost all of it is wheelchair accessible. Highly recommended to anyone in the Black Hills/Devils Tower area.
Christine M — Google review
They offer different tour options, from self-guided to guided. The guided is $9/person and well worth it. Our guide was a local, history majoring student from the university and did a great job with the tour. The tour includes three parts. First, you look at the hole from above and learn about the technique. Next, you go into the tipi museum to see maps and learn more about the tribes and the process. Finally, you head down to the dig site, which was my favorite part. Here you see lots of the bones and other artifacts, as well as learn more about how all the things the bison were used for. This place was definitely worth the nine dollars and was an interesting leg stretch during a long car trip. The whole guided tour takes 30-45 minutes depending on how many questions you ask. Beware: going to the bottom of the sink hole must be done by foot. There is a paved trail going down, but it is steep and I imagine it would be quite difficult to get a wheelchair up and down it safely.

Lookouts
I've been wanting to ride up to the Cement Ridge Lookout for the last 3 yrs. I finally got it done on 06/27/24 on an Adventure bike. All but the last 1/4 mile was very doable. That last 1/4 mile was filled with medium sized rocks and holes. The road was dry but would be challenging if it was raining or the road was muddy. I wouldn't drive that in my Chevy Equinox. Only a truck or high clearance 4x4. Once there, the 360° view was absolutely spectacular. Well worth the trip up there. The Forest Service employee, who was on duty in the fire watch tower, took time to answer my questions .
Steve H — Google review
The road has become almost impossible for anything under a truck. So disappointing. This used to be our go-to place in the evenings. What happened to pride in our area? Do better Crook/Wyoming road & bridge.
Zany — Google review
The views were spectacular! I would encourage you to go here only if you are in an ATV, UTV or a higher clearance 4 wheel drive. Watch for free roaming cows.
Karla R — Google review
Breathtaking views of the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming. Several interpretive signs about the tower and surrounding areas.. Picnic tables and restroom are a great feature.
Aaron K — Google review
Great view of the black hills. Did this in a CX-5. There are some ruts abour 2-3ft deep, pick a good line and you're good. I'd rate it Priusable.

Great drive up to the lookout and a spectacular view when you arrive

Beautiful lookout. 360 degree views of northern BH area. This one you can do with a street vehicle; just be careful. We did it in an SUV. These fire lookouts throughout the BH are so cool to visit. Most are locked, but you still have a beautiful view.

Very awesome to see the fantastic petrified wood specimen they have!! And the information boards were informative and interesting!! I came just around the closing time, but I did say hello to the sweet gal as she left!! She apologized and I told her of course I completely understand, no worries whatsoever, definitely go home and be with family!! She was very sweet!! ❤️‍🩹 I wandered around a while reading placards and that was my own fault that it was time for her to head home when I finally walzed up to the door anyway!! Haha!! But the restroom area remains open, and it is stocked with flyers/information/tourist mags, and WY maps!! All I really wanted was a WY map anyways!! It was definitely a great surprise to see the petrified wood and the bronze wildlife sculptures though!! There is a cougar/puma out front, and I didn't catch the artist, but it was fantastic!! And, the fawns near the door are so lovely too!! They even tricked my dog for a moment and he was not sure if they were going to run away from him!! Hahaha! (Not saying he's the #1 brightest fella all the time 😆 he's still, pretty much just a dog-brain!! Hahaha!!) It was quite funny though!!

This is a very nice Welcome Center and a nice place to stop and stretch your legs. It had a large parking area, that was very clean and well maintained and easy access. A total gem in this town—there was so much to see and lots of info available on the many artifacts. I was on the fence about bringing our kids (7 & 10) inside, but they had a very entertaining dress up chest for the kids to try on period clothing, a saddle they could sit on, and a “dig” table where they found really cool hidden items. Well-organized and 100% worth the stop. Check out the gift shop in the lower level!
Carrie P — Google review
After years of fundraising the museum was able to move into the old highschool. Be aware there is now a $5 fee to visit, it is not free anymore.

A Must-See when traveling through Sundance, WY. The museum has an amazing collection and the downstairs gift shop has some beautiful items.
Carol V — Google review
After our visit to Sundance, we love this small town. And the museum in the old school building is wonderfully equipped and furnished. The highlight is the courtroom where the Sundance Kid was sentenced. Don't forget to visit the art and museum shop in the basement. Once again, many thanks to the lovely staff and the museum director, who gave us a personal tour. We will definitely be back, and send our best regards from Germany to Sundance.
Dominique B — Google review
What an amazing museum! A lovingly assembled collection of artifacts from the area has been turned into a storyline that describes what was life like here. Even the building itself is a 100+ years old school building that was state of the art when it was built, and still looks quite impressive on the outside as well as on the inside. Even the courthouse furniture has been preserved and arranged to show the layout of the courtroom of the times long past. Highly recommended to stop and enjoy.
Michael — Google review
Awesome museum. The staff was helpful and informative, knew a lot about the history and local area. This place was filled to the brim, and much larger than you would think going in. You could spend about an hour here if you took your time. The majority of the pieces were donated by local pioneer families, which just adds to the authenticity. The museum will soon move to the schoolhouse on the side street by sometime around february. Great spot.
Nolan C — Google review
Little County museum well worth at least 3 hours. The Sundance kid was tried in this building and they have the original courtroom furniture.

It's a beautiful bar, but the female owner (Jessica?) is very bitter. Did not feel welcomed by her. Feel bad for the workers. Everyone else was very kind. Good food.

We stopped in for a few beers and the bar was quiet. We thought we were only going to have one but the bartender, Darnell, was so nice and friendly that we stayed a few hours. She made our night. 100 plus dollars later, we met really nice people, played pool and machines, danced and had a blast. Thank you Darnell, your a sweetheart.

French dip was delicious! I would have toasted the bread, but it was delicious still. I'm used to more pickles in my homemade potato salad, the chef used less. Potato salad was still homemade and great! When we got there the only or that was ready was the chocolate pie. The waitress asked the chef when the HOMEMADE APPLE PIE could be cut, she cut it early just for us. As a cook myself, I appreciate the effort that goes into making something from scratch. Was it what I was used to... No. Was it the best ever? No. Was it made with love and care? YES! Was it served with the comfort of the customer in mind? You betcha. You're supposed to take a minute and enjoy a small town cafe. Slow down, take a breath and enjoy the stillness of Hulett ❤️
Melissa D — Google review
Good food. I had grilled chicken. It took a reasonable time to get the food. The waitress forgot my drink, but I didn't need it after all. She never came back to ask how the food was after we asked for condiments. Also, we were at the register first to check out, but for some reason the lady waited on another person first! Puzzling.
Patty L — Google review
Giving three stars because pizza was the best I ever had! However, waitress was the owner and she never checked on us one time! Read above because the French dip is inedible! So gross! Sign says homemade pie and there was none. Had pie at the Red Rock cafe. Great pie and an awesome cup of coffee just 2 doors down!
Crystal M — Google review
Ate lunch here after the Devil's Tower. Waitress was horrible and rude. Asked for separate checks(2 couples) and she immediately seemed put out by this and slammed her order pad on the table. Other couple was finished eating before we received our food. All I ordered was vegetables and an appetizer. Macaroni and cheese was probably out of a Kraft box and other veggies out of a can, very disappointing. We were about 95% through with lunch and the appetizer of fried cheese sticks had not been served. I canceled my order on the appetizer, because we were traveling, and the surly waitress still tried to serve them after we were finished with the meal. I refused them. When at the counter to pay our check, the same waitress took the other couples money and settled up but when I tried to pay she decides to go bus a table before taking my payment and there were plenty of tables available to seat other diners. Do not eat here. Rudest service I have ever encountered. Food was not great.
John B — Google review
Stopped by for breakfast this morning. Was not a good choice food was bad (how any place can ruin eggs and potatoes with toast) this place can. We live locally and will definitely not be stopping by again. It took over 45 minutes to get the food. And there was only 3 other tables occupied. Service was not good either.
Dee S — Google review
We decided to grab lunch in Hulett to meet up with some family. We finally decided on The Hitchin Post to grab lunch. It looked like a cute old town feel, but the service was barely any. There was only one other table in the restaurant that was taken when we got there at 3:45. We sat there for a while before they even came over to take our drink order which was only three waters. The menu looked simple so our table decided on two deluxe hamburgers and fries and steak fingers and fries. You can go to the local store and get frozen bag of hamburger patties and a bag of store brand fries to include frozen steak fingers. There was NO seasoning at all on anything! Add some seasoning salt and pepper at home and you would have a better meal at home! Don’t waste your money here or your time. Service there was horrible.

Rogue's Gallery

This museum of the wild West and art gallery is a must see!!!!! Amazing original art by the own Bob Coronato! Focus is rodeo art and Western art. Art by many other artists from etchings, paintings, wood carvings, stone work, alabaster lamps .. Focus of the gallery & museum is American Indian art and jewelry, Western art and jewelry and a phenomenal selection! Great belt buckles and turquoise jewelry. Early west museum includes an astounding amount of artifacts but more importantly a true understanding of the culture and depth of knowledge with artifacts that I have never seen or even knew existed. Amazing environment to view the artifacts including smell of sage that increases the reality and feeling, very theatrical with the authentic music, really amazing experience!! Bob is extremely knowledgeable and fun to talk with. The prices are great. I'm so happy that we stopped and took time to experience the Rogue's Gallery!

SO. MANY. SOUVENIRS! I mean they have just about everything you could want. This being one of the hottest trails for people riding motorcycles they have a lot of stuff related to motorcycles. I bought a few of the regular small souvenirs that I always get at places and I feel like the prices were fair or comparable to what I’ve spent other places. They have all kinds of stickers, patches, shirts, hoodies and just so much more. There is another shop across the road but they don’t have near as much to choose from as this place does.
Loftin A — Google review
Cool store full of every kind of souvenir you can think of related to the Devils Tower and aliens. If you can put either one of those things onto an object and sell it, this place has it.

This is a great spot to stop and grab some snacks. They have pretty much everything inside the store. Since there aren't many options around, this stop is definitely a better option to stock up before your journey.

Devils Tower is a magical place. 1) Check the weather for optimum fun. 2) Bring some good warn in hiking shoes, a large insulated cold water backpack and an easy carry snack. 3) Don't forget a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen up to 45spf. 4) Take the outer loop, a map, and a small compass. 5) Last but not least. Take a camera to remember and share your own Beautiful story at the Tower and take out all that you carry in. Have fun and be safe.

Restrooms were closed and they had a weird song about men being neutered playing. Will not be back. In response to the owner: I am not "sabotaging" your business by writing an honest review. If that is your response that is concerning. I came in with a group of three others. We were looking to use the restroom and browse around. The hall to the restroom had a rope across it and it said restroom closed. The song playing overhead was county and the lyrics were mentioning about men getting spray tans and men being neutered. Would it be better if I had the other members of my group write reviews as well? Upon looking further it appears that for every low review your response is "all lies!" and "not true" and "sabotage". That is how businesses stay stagnant. Would not recommend this place to anyone! The place across the street had the restrooms open and no strange music playing. Also, as you can see, the owner does not take criticism well.

Located near the iconic Devils Tower National Monument, also known as Bear Lodge, is the Wind Circle sculpture. This 12-foot sculpture was created by Japanese artist Junkyu Muto and is situated at the base of rolling hills near the monument. Crafted from white marble, it features an open center and is surrounded by a small sitting area. The design of the Wind Circle represents peace and harmony, drawing inspiration from rising smoke.
Less crowded. Can also view prairie dogs here.

Sights & Landmarks
Devils Tower National Monument, the first national monument in the United States, is a significant landmark nestled in the Black Hills grasslands. Soaring nearly 900 feet, this climbable rock formation is renowned for its unique geological patterns and rich history. Sacred to Native American tribes, it has become a prime destination for rock climbers, hikers, photographers, and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world. The site's regulations ensure proper management and protection while allowing public access to experience this remarkable geological wonder firsthand.
Cool place to stop. There are two trails around the tower. One shorter (45min-1h) on a paved surface and the longer one. The visitor center has cool data and a small shop. It also has water to refill the bottles and flush bathrooms. You can use the National Park Annual Pass to enter for free.
Ana M — Google review
Accessible for all, no hike needed unless you want to. The easy 1.6 miles loop around the base have amazing views. Nice scenic drive with red rocks, hay bails and longhorn cows.
Lisa C — Google review
Getting up to the parking lot took an hour because there's a stop light at the bottom of the hill that filters how much traffic gets to the top. Of course this is after you've already entered into the park, so if you turn around and leave you would pay to have seen nothing. This is an easy attraction to visit once you get to the top. There is a walkable trail, and lots of parking. Or benches looking at it if thats more your speed. The visitor center has many collectable items as well as a self guided tour of history. You can sign up to climb it, just remember what you are climbing and that it is sacred ground.
C Y — Google review
Devils Tower National Monument completely blew me away. Seeing this massive rock formation rise out of the rolling hills is absolutely awe-inspiring. Pictures don’t do it justice; you have to experience it in person to appreciate how majestic and otherworldly it feels. The trails around the base are fantastic, well-marked, scenic, and full of viewpoints that show off the tower from every angle. The park is clean, well-maintained, and easy to explore. Whether you’re hiking, taking photos, or just soaking in the view, Devils Tower is a must-see. Truly one of the most unique and powerful natural landmarks!!
Vee K — Google review
Everyone will have their own experience as it will differ from person to person. I had a surreal and profound one, visiting this enormous monument also called as Mato Tipila. There are two trails, Tower and Red beds trail. I would recommend doing the tower loop trail as it circles close to the tower. There are some amazing Lookout points once you’ll finish about 3/4 of the loop going clockwise. Do check out the visitor center / gift shop and learn about all the different folklore regarding how the tower was formed. Since the shutdown is in place, there was no entry fees, but otherwise I believe it $25. -Do keep an eye out for the climbers as that will give you an idea of how big the tower is and also how stupid and audacious humans are to mess with everything that is out there irrespective of the fact that some places have spiritual importance and hold deep relations to some tribes. I did not stay for the night, but I’m sure the sky would be very amazing to watch during the night time. If you are into stargazing/Milky Way then then you should go for it. Do check the weather before your visit as it can change within minutes While I was there, twice it snowed a little bit, and then the sun came out as well. A couple of nearby spots that you can also visit are the Prairie dog town and wind circle sculpture. I visited those places on my way back to Rapid City. Hope this was helpful.
Nishant P — Google review
Beautiful small park with million dollar views and fantastic trails. Takes a couple of days to hike them all unless you are really energetic, but there is a nice campground right in the park so you don’t even have to leave. Personally I would avoid the overcrowded (and slippery) paved trail from the visitors center. The Red Bed trail, although longer, gives much better views and is much less crowded.
Amanda M — Google review
This is my favorite place in north eastern wyoming! Its only about an hour and a half from Rapid City. If youre visiting mount rushmore and skipping devils tower, what even are you doing? There is a very easy hike around the base of the tower, where you can see the full 360 degrees of it, and gasp at the crazy rock climbers! Theres also tons of prarie dogs and deer here! It is NOT pet friendly. And that isn't to be mean to dogs. There are porcupines here and the closest vet is over an hour away. It is NOT pet friendly for the safety of your animals, not for the annoyance of you. Please leave your dogs at home or in your camper, or skip the hiking trail. There is RV parking here! And camping near and around here! It is very family friendly. The hike around the base is easy and short, even the newly walking will enjoy it, and when they want mommy or daddy to carry them you dont have a terribly long way to do so *exclusive to the time im writing this, the visitor center is open amid the government shut down. The book store is owned by a non government entity and is sponsoring the center being open*
The N — Google review
An absolutely stunning place — even more impressive in person than in photos. The tower rises out of the landscape in a way that doesn’t look real, and the surrounding trails give you incredible views from every angle. The main loop is easy to walk and well-maintained, with clear signage and plenty of spots to stop for photos. Rangers are knowledgeable and friendly, and the visitor center is small but informative. It’s peaceful, scenic, and carries a sense of awe that sticks with you long after you leave. A must-see stop if you’re anywhere near northeast Wyoming.

Tower Trail is the trail you’ll want to do to get as close as possible to Devils Tower. it is a loop around Devils Tower. this loop is the most popular thing to do in the park. This trail is pretty easy and gives you some great views of the tower. If you want to truly be quick and not hike the whole 1.3-mile paved trail, then you will want to start off the loop going LEFT when you are starting from the visitor center. (There is a spot once you start the trail where there are seemingly 2 ways to go, straight and to the left.) Then soon you will see the massive Devil's Tower in front of you. but I would recommend doing the whole tower trail (just 1.3 miles) it will give you different angles of Devils Tower. it is the only trail that is paved. However, do remember that climbing on the rocks isn’t allowed without a permit so stay off of the boulders.

Devils Tower Visitor Center

Visitor center
The Devils Tower Visitor Center is a charming log cabin nestled in the dense trees at the end of the park road. Built in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, it offers assistance to visitors and features interpretive displays, maps, and Junior Ranger booklets. The center also houses a small gift shop and provides a great view of Devils Tower from its parking lot. Visitors can explore educational exhibits and enjoy clean facilities while taking in the surrounding wildlife.
I have loved this site ever since I was a little kid after seeing the movie Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind. Second trip here and we will definitely return again in the future. Go to the visitor center in the early am before it gets busy. We went on a Monday at 930am and had no issues, but as we left around 1230pm there was a very long slow line to enter.
J W — Google review
Even after seeing 'Close Encounters' many times growing up, seeing Devil's Tower in person was quite amazing. It was fabulous to be there in person, read about how the Tower was formed, and learn about the connection with Native American peoples. We loved the experience of hiking around the base of the Tower on the Tower Loop Trail so we could see the Tower from every angle. The park service created a 1.3 mile paved trail around the base for guests to follow. Be sure to take your time, read the signs, and appreciate the views. Also, look up at the Tower closely as you may get to see climbers making their way up. We saw a number of climbers on the side of the Tower to the left of the "Window" during our early morning visit. Note 1 - RV and trailer parking: The visitor center parking lots are rather small and not made to accommodate longer or larger RVs or trailers. The park has a designated lot just past the prairie dog town where you can drop your RV or trailer. Ask the park staff what the best way is to get to the visitor center if you use this lot. Note 2- Visitor Center: The visitor center is located in a historic building and is relatively small. There are interpretive exhibits in the visitor center and a gift shop. Bring your patience as the spaces can get very crowded. Note 3- Trails: The Red Beds Trail is a second and longer loop trail (2.8 miles) further down the hill that also circles the Tower. We hiked the trail from the campground and made the entire circuit. It took us a little over 3 hours, including our time at the visitor center.

Our family was up this way for a reunion and HAD to make a day trip to see Devil's Tower. While there, we stopped by the visitor's center and got many souvenirs. My daughter had brought a suitcase full of Webkins, which was stolen at a rest stop just after crossing into South Dakota, and that included many of her favorite stuffed animals. So when we stopped by this visitor's center, and she fell in love with a Pookie Stuffed animal there, I had to get it for her. We took a hike around the tower, where I took some pics I'm dropping below. I was struck by the indian prayer bags on trees there. But we had gotten all the way to Hwy 24 when my daughter exclaimed that she'd LOST her Pookie! I had to turn the car around, driving back to the visitor's center, sure that I'd have to buy another one. But the kind folks at the visitor's center had found Pookie, and had him waiting for us when we arrived back. I didn't have to show a receipt or anything, they remembered us. I'll never forget it.
Chris S — Google review
Very small parking area but no problem finding parking midday. Bathrooms were surprisingly clean! The grounds still looked taken care of. Shame that someone stole the passport stamp the staff left outside the visitor center for us visitors to use. Lots of pull offs and a nice area to pullover and see the prairie dogs (close to the entrance).

Keyhole State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Lakeside area for fishing, birdwatching & camping, plus a full-service marina with a general store.
Was very well kept and clean, aside from one of the bathrooms running out of paper, says my old lady. Tent camp sites are a little walk downhill if your at tatanka sites, but your camping so get over it! Lake is quite in the mornings and afternoons with respectable boaters to lake fishing.

Great state park! Clean & well-maintained in a beautiful area. Staff could do a better check of camping cabins as they were a bit dirty but overall a great trip.
Anna — Google review
We spent a few hours at Keyhole State Park, looking for a good place to hike. We hiked around the lake via the Beach Trail and then drove up the road to hike the Little Keyhole Trail over and near the dam. These were both short trails, but made for a nice afternoon excursion.

Visit August 2021, Cabin 1: Beautiful campground with amazing views of the reservoir all around. Very quiet with minimal human or animal noises. It was a bit of a drive (too far to walk) to the showers but very clean and in the open. There was an outhouse nearby that we could use throughout the day. IMPORTANT NOTE: Showers were coin operated. Bring quarters or cash for exchange machine. We stayed in a cabin on the shoreline. Very peaceful and the perfect location to look out at the water or walk the shoreline. We swam at the beach for awhile and were the only people there. The sunsets from the beach were SPECTACULAR! We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this state park! Nearest gas station is a long drive away too. Come prepared with enough ice or build the drive to get ice into your itinerary.

Great location but super un level gravel campsite, AR08. No power or water but lake access is worth the sacrifice.

Beautiful park with campgrounds. We camped. Arch Rock camping pads didn't seem to be level. But we knew in advance, so we brought extra plastic levelers. It was very peaceful. ✌️

This place is amazing!!! My family has camped here twice and go fishing here. But this was my first and my goodness, nature is a beautiful thing🥰 Try to be careful on where u reserve though. Some designated tent sites are too small if u have a big tent. We were at the Tatanka section. They also have cabins. I highly recommend it here. Also, on a side note, for the bathrooms, they keep them pretty clean and actually smelling good😄
Alex M — Google review
Beach was small and there were lots of weeds in the sand. The kind of weeds that have hard branches that poke through your shoes. The views were beautiful at sunset. The beach was shallow which made swimming awesome! The park itself was weird because we had to take a gravel road for almost an hour to find the park. When we got there, they said you could only book a camp site over the phone or online. We use Roger's phone carrier as we are Canadian and there was no network at all. Eventually they let us book at the toll booth but it took a while to convince them. It was $33 USD to tent camp for one night with no hookups. They have no convenience store anywhere in the park. There is a restaurant at the marina but it was hard to find parking and you would have to walk through a bunch of private cabin trailers to get there. We skipped it. Campsite was quiet and not very occupied. Lots of stars. We stayed at the Homestead campground and there was a firepit, but nowhere to get wood that we were able to find. Cement picnic tables which were way more practical than traditional wood picnic tables.

I'm sorry I really tried to give these guys a chance. The first time I ordered food to go from here it was a mess. So I called let them know and said I'll come in and give you guys about chance. The beer is pretty good but the food is awful. NYC style pizza is only famous in New York and it sucks there to. The salads are disappointing at best. Tried their beer bread which was odd to say the least. The staff was very nice but that doesn't make up for the food. These guys are right around their three year mark from what I can tell, it's make or break time hopefully they haven't lost their passion.

We went at the perfect time today, about 5:20pm, where there are a few groups in and a few outside. Right before it starts to pick up for Trivia Night and before the dinner rush. We had a Mead Flight of the four that are on tap and a pint of BL Peach Blonde and a BL Hefe since I prefer beer. Honey mead has a bite, a sweetness and is Very flavorful and not as heavy as wine or beer but high alcohol per volume. We liked the Wild Woman the best with the hibiscus so we bought a bottle. I'm glad there was a burger and salty fries next door. Plus Cornhole in the courtyard. I lost of course. Cheers and thanks Big Lost Meadery for a good time.

Great place, beer is ok but great meade. Lady bartender is kind of a wild woman though. She puts cinnamon in beer and talks about how she sells meade in China for $100 a bottle. Haha, whatever lady, maybe slow down on the meade, haha!

I don't get to have mead very often, since we don't have many meaderies back in Pittsburgh. During our trip out to Montana my wife saw a billboard for Big Lost, so we decided to stop. I'm glad we did! We enjoyed everything we tried and we bought a couple of bottles to take home.

Pathfinder clubs that arrive too early to check in for the 2024 International Camporee might want to stop by here. Great walking path around the lake in this park with some interesting statues great for taking pictures along the way. Lots of red-winged blackbirds, and geese with goslings were there in late May. Wishing we had a park this nice close to home.

Great park. Great green space. Two separate playgrounds for young kids and older kids. Great water frontage and walking paths. Clean restrooms. Attached photos of both parks as there weren't many of the young kid park.

Wonderful park for walking - picnics - family gatherings. Excellent 1.1 mile paved path goes around the lake. Beautiful place. Clean and very scenic.

Nice mile long path that can easily be done as a loop. A lot of shade in the center and plenty of space to play games/picnic. They have nice restrooms and a great park in addition to a frisbee golf course. Some great bridges, great upkeep.

This place is way cool and it exceeded my expectations. TONS of vintage displays including store fronts, a service station, minerals, mining, a model train, telegram station, some really nice cars, trucks, and motorcycles, along with various vintage items like signs, clothing, food, etc. This place is definitely worth stopping at if you are a fan of vintage vehicles or like history from like the 40s-60s. These pictures don't do the place justice - see it for yourself.

We stopped thinking we could take a break from driving for an hour. Funny it takes longer then that to really see the items in the museum. It is great that the have an old soda shop for food when you get hungry. We ordered a 4 cheese grill sandwich and we could have shared it because it was huge. It tasted great! If we come through again, it is a repeat stop. Everyone was very nice and patient with children. Familys need to know that everything has a sign of"do not touch". The one place the kids can touch is in the soda shop. A few games, fun tables and chairs. They also have a lot of the old style candies to share with young families.

Wow, a wonderful car museum in Wyoming! We enjoyed looking at the antique cars such Hudson, Chevy, Mercury, and Ford. The neon signs were very cool. Nice displays of items of the 30s, 40s, and 50s.

Ok, so I'm a connesesour of car museums. I've been to them all over the continent. This isn't the biggest... but it is hands-down, my favorite. They have an outstanding collection of petrolina curated to perfection. The neon signs and advertising are just fabulous. You should seriously include this in your road trip plans! SK

What a lucky find...didn't know it existed. Friend knew about it and we were surprisingly surprised on all the things the museum had in it. Took us an hour to walk and see it all. Many shops added together on one corner of the block.

This was an amazing stop. Kids usually roll their eyes when mom says I found a museum, however, this time I had to drag them out. Unique room set ups, cool cars, nice store, adorable puppies. Fun stop for car enthusiasts and their companions.

Fabulous! Take your time. It's wild the details I missed. So perfectly laid out, and a joy to explore.

Drove by here many times, had a little extra time today so I decided to check it out, I’m glad I did! The museum is packed with cool things to see from a bygone era, mostly the 40’s and 50’s. The cafe is also worth stopping in, I had an old fashioned chocolate malt. It was great.

Great time! Fun and challenging! I had never done an escape room before and was hesitant when the kids wanted to drag me along..I am so glad I went! 307 was helpful when they needed to be and we all worked well as a team to solve the puzzle and find our way out! Everyone was able to participate and find clues! Can't wait to go again!

It was a lot of fun! We went and did the Grandma's gambling operation challenge with some friends. It was well thought out, and had plenty of ingenious puzzles and secret doors/ twists. Highly recommended. Planning on going again.
Robert C — Google review
Great escape room! Watch carefully for the turn as it kinda just looks like a parking lot. (No room on the big sign and the city won't let her put her own small sign) The kids and I did the escaped spider room and it was fun! Challenging, but we found it in time!
Marie S — Google review
We always have a blast here. The woman that runs the show is amazing! Awesome customer service fairly priced. Fun for the whole family. Thank you guys for bringing something fun and affordable to Gillette!

Super fun! The worker was super friendly and personable. The escape room had a great story and was difficult but doable. Would definitely go back!

We were visiting from out of state and got a chance to visit Mystery 307 and do the Party to Die For. I had my 22 year old son and two teenage daughters with me. We really thought the theming was great with the 1920s music playing, the flappers dresses, and the way the body was dressed. We thought the puzzles were fun (and some were hard!) We did have to get some help because of the clever red herrings. After we were done, we bought a hoodie, t-shirt, and wooden puzzle that was for sale. The hoodie and t-shirt are designed well with graphics on the front and back. Our hostess was awesome and if we visit Wyoming again, we’d definitely return and do another escape room!

What a great escape room! We are in town for my daughter's swim meet, and we needed to burn some time up the night before. We found 307 online, called to make a reservation, to go figure out a Murder Mystery. We did get a little lost on the way to 307 Mysteries (don't listen to Google when it tells you to turn off of Highway 14, stay on the highway and look for the sign), and I'll be quite honest, with my first born child in the car, I was a little leery about going into an area that looked like we were about to be a part of a real murder mystery. Nothing bad, but it's in a remote and industrial location, but totally safe. Mom and daughter team run the place, and they were super sweet, and we went and did our escape room, with 5 minutes to spare! We had an absolute blast! Next time we're in town for another swim meet, we will be going again! 😎👍

Campbell County Rockpile Museum

History museum
Museums
Local-history museum displaying fossils, Native American items, weapons & other cultural artifacts.
This was out first visit here and I must say I was not expecting what we walked into. We assumed it was a Rock Museum based on the name. This museum has a bit of everything in it. A lot of history of Gillette and how things use to be. There is a small gift shop and some items throughout are "hands on". We really enjoyed walking through and getting a history lesson. Plus it's free.
Mandi J — Google review
A very good and well maintained FREE museum featuring local and state history. Ranges from information about how and where coal is formed, past native American history and artifacts. Prehistoric life in the area. Good display of period firearms and tools. Excellent movie clips and information about.past and current coal mining practices. If you like history, I highly recommend this stop. Also has many hands- on stations for kids learning experiences

Wonderful museum on the history and geology of this area. Interactive displays brought many of the exhibits to life including short movies on mining.

Don't waste your time. Not really worth the trip. Nothing really stands out here. Decent gun collection if you're a collector, but it has a ton of repeats.

Good little museum. Lots of stuff to read and look at. There were hands-on displays for the kids scattered throughout the museum. The A/C was wonderful and the gift shop area was adequate. Thus museum relies on donations and has free admission.

Chris LeDoux Park

Memorial park

Parks
Beautiful little memorial park honoring one of the most talented artists "beneath these western skies." Rodeo legend, and singer Chris Ledoux. I have been a fan since I was a kid, so it was a must stop for me when I saw the sign saying Chris Ledoux Park. It is a small, well-kept park with a few benches and a larger than life statue of Chris riding a bronc atop a guitar surrounded by offerings of Copenhagen left by visitors honoring one of his fan favorites. Kacee is such a small, friendly town that it to me was worth the visit. There is a small gift shop selling Leddoux (you can buy Ned Ledoux merch as well) shirts and hats across the street, and a small bar/restaurant two doors down that looked like a good time. If I only had the time to grab a Coors. For me, it was a once in a lifetime experience that I would do again given the opportunity.

I'm a huge Chris Ledoux fan so my opinion is a little biased. Really impressed with the statue that combines rodeo and music! Kaycee seems like the perfect place for this you can see and feel what inspired his music.
Randy G — Google review
This was a fun stop as one of us is a Chris LeDoux super fan. It is very small and provides the whole story. It is pretty. It would be great if there was a bit more to it but I have no idea what the bit more would be.
Michele T — Google review
Such an amazing park in this quiet little town. Make sure to stop in to the Rusty Spur and sign the guest book. If you want a real adventure come visit during Chris LeDoux Days Father's Day weekend!!! God Bless Chris LeDoux!

I really enjoyed this museum. It was raining out so a trip here was perfect. Lots of local historical items- From area forts along the Bozeman trail, to the Johnson Co Cattle war, to Butch Cassidy and the Hole in the Wall Gang, as well as some Native American items and even a neat collection of Paleo Indian items. Also some buildings behind it like and old schoolhouse , a sheep wagon and an old jail….. easy parking, good hours, be sure to stop if you at in the area!!

A small time capsule from Wyoming's past; primarily dedicated to the true King Of Wyoming, Chris LeDoux. This sleepy little town is comprised of the friendliest people on the planet, and Hoofprints of the Past, often times is the general gathering place to talk ranching, or rodeo. Great memorabilia and wonderful people indeed.

Exceptionally well put together! History surrounds you here! Bring the kids! Great opportunity to Learn! I had no idea the major role Wyoming played in helping the U.S. win WWII God Bless America! He did! Marching on! Wyoming still training units to fight if needed! Go.Fight Win! Love this place! Love our passion as a Nation! What”s next?
Bryan J — Google review
I may be mistaken, but from what I understood from the curator, all the pieces displayed are donations from families whose loved ones served in the military, all natives of Wyoming. The museum is well put together and displayed in chronological order. The curator was very knowledgeable in regards to facts and history of the locale. If you're into military history, it's definitely worth it to visit.
