Dia Beacon is a massive contemporary art museum located in a former Nabisco box printing factory, offering an awe-inspiring collection of modern works from the 1960s to the present day. The former Nabisco box-printing factory, bathed in diffused Hudson Valley light, holds an atmosphere where time slows down — each artwork not merely installed, but breathing within the architecture. The vast industrial volume redefines the relationship between viewer, material, and void.
In one wing, Gerhard Richter’s grey mirrors dissolve the boundary between reflection and opacity. Their stillness absorbs the daylight, folding the gallery’s gridded windows into painterly illusions. Nearby, Larry Bell’s glass constructions and Robert Irwin’s scrims create corridors of uncertainty, where the viewer becomes both subject and shadow. Walking through them is like inhaling air made visible — each surface a study in the gradations of transparency, color, and self-awareness.
Descending further, the visceral pull of Richard Serra’s torqued ellipses commands bodily engagement. Their curved steel walls — monumental yet tender — demand slowness. Each turn offers a recalibration of weight, balance, and sound; your footsteps become part of the sculpture’s resonance. A parallel intensity exists in Michael Heizer’s voids, massive cuts into the floor that feel like the earth exhaling inside a room. Looking down is both thrilling and unsettling, a reminder of the geological scale that art can inhabit.
Elsewhere, Joseph Beuys’s vitrines, Bruce Nauman’s neon, and John Chamberlain’s crushed metal offer counterpoints — gestures of humor, ritual, and defiance. In another hall, On Kawara’s textual works anchor time as language, while Lawrence Weiner’s wall texts and On Kawara’s banners (seen overhead) reframe the act of reading as a spatial rhythm.
Dia Beacon’s curatorial strength lies in restraint. It allows artworks to exist in long, unhurried conversations with each other — a rare luxury in today’s overstimulated museum culture. The light changes, the shadows migrate, and so does one’s sense of the self within the work.
Leaving the museum, one carries a strange calm — as if the act of seeing had been purified into its essence: space, light, and the quiet endurance of form.

Excellent collection of some big names in contemporary modern sculpture. The space alone is stunning, prime for highlighting Negative Space, and it really is mostly negative space larger pieces, which makes it easy to cover such a large building -former Nabisco factory-. My all time favorite are the Richard Serra pieces: fabulous.
I found the building itself to be more fascinating than the art. Definitely go when it is sunny out. It's a former Nabisco printing plant.
The art was very experimental; a few pieces were cool but most of it was silly and I love modern art.
If you are in the area, it's still worth a stop. I wish I could roller skate thru the building. It's that big!
The gallery itself has a lot to offer, but the staff definitely needs more training. There’s no need to warn visitors not to touch the exhibits before they’ve even approached them. It comes off as unwelcoming. Also, we were rushed out repeatedly with two minutes left before closing, even though we only had two exhibits left to see. If the gallery is still open, staff should continue doing their jobs, not push visitors out prematurely.
Cool museum with lot sod varying exhibits - some of them are very interesting, others less so. Overall, definitely worth visiting if you’re in beacon and want to get some art in.
Nice gallery! One of the best experiences is to reach Beacon by train, from Manhattan. You have to buy the round-trip tickets at the station and kids under 12 pay very little. Returning to the gallery topic it is a must-visit for all art lovers.
There are many other places where you can see the works of genius artists from around the world, but this is probably the only place where artists are able to hold “solo exhibitions” without being cramped after their death.
A wonderful environment.
Very esoteric museum. One must savor the intentions and imagination of the artist. What color is the color of the day? What color is the color of the number? Where imagination, empathy, creativity and the basic principles of interior designers are expressed in a complex... interesting place!!

Visited as part of a bachelorette trip and we got to glass blow some ornaments. A really fun and unique experience. We met the owners, and they were incredibly kind and passionate about what they do. We’ll definitely visit again when in the area!

Such a charming glass studio and gallery right at the beginning of Main Street in Beacon. The building itself feels historic, and the space is filled with beautiful handmade glass pieces and unique sculptures. Downstairs you can watch the artists work or even take a glass-blowing class if you have time. The staff are very friendly and happy to explain the process. The upstairs gallery is free to explore, with more art and gift ideas. Definitely worth a stop when visiting Beacon.
My wife and I both made ornaments and it was a fantastic experience all around. Choosing the look and color of our items followed by an instruction on how the hot shop works and being involved in the process was a lot of fun. We really enjoyed it and the instructor was amazing. We would absolutely recommend it!

This experience was nothing short of amazing! The instructors were so helpful and fun and genuinely wanted us to make products we loved. At one point something went wrong with mine and it broke and they let me start over no problem! It was truly a lovely experience from start to finish.
Spent the afternoon doing glass blowing with my sisters.
We each made a Christmas ornament. It was so much fun and the staff member, Kathleen , explained everything! This was such a great experience!

Nice Museum. Nice staff. We went thinking there was going to be dinosaurs (like a massive natural history museum). Imagine our shock when we realized there's only 2 triceratop statues outside in the back of the building (so free! 😆) and one velociraptor inside (albeit a very cool one). And some bones. And stones (wish my kid let me look at them a bit more). There's some art as well, but there's no chance my 2 two year old was going to put up with that. That said, there's a massive series of playgrounds across the street that more than made up for any disappointment he may have had and will guarantee we pop in to the museum for a few min on our way to said playground. Doors close at 4:30. Leave by 5pm.
Beautifully maintained, big free parking lot. The front desk staff was friendly and informative. Take the stairs up so you can see the beautiful permanent art installation by Gabriel Dawe, one of the coolest visual illusions I’ve ever seen. The galleries have a great variety of art and the crystal exhibit is breathtaking! Great visit. The museum is small enough you can go through it all in an hour or two.

Wonderful art and science museum that is only a 10 minute walk from the Greenwich station on Metro-North’s New Haven line. Loved the gallery with the artwork that was done by students from high schools in Connecticut and New York

Small, modern museum with changing displays. Seniors-free-Teusdays. Lovely, brightly designed building with sweeping stairways in front of a huge glass wall. This visit was snacks and bevs + jazz quartet in the background while highlighting a present Manhattan artist's works. A unique, evening event that was a pleasant change from a daytime museum experience.
This is the second time we have been to this wonderful museum in Greenwich, CT each visit has been nothing but a positive experience, we especially loved the Passamaquoddy basket exhibition this time which was truly amazing! Also, we really enjoyed our lunch at the cafe especially the Spinach quiche.

My daughter loved that part as well as the playground, I loved the art gallery as well as paying a visit to the cows! It was a very enjoyable day!

Beautiful and fun place to visit. As soon as you arrive you prompt to purchase your ticket at the gate. You cab pay with cash or card. The entrance fee is definitely worth it for all you get to see and explore. There is a lot to do (museum, hikes, walk path, animals to see and much more). I recommend spending 2-3 hours there.
Great for kids, make sure to go when the reptile room is open!
The wheelchair boardwalk is extensive and lovely! Ironically the start of Trail 7 is currently inaccessible, making it unsafe and painful. Looks like the gravel wore away. Please maintain this part or consider a permanent threshold ramp solution, so the Wheel in the Woods is truly wheelable 🙂 I look forward to coming back again.
Reallllly awesome place for kids and adults alike. Beautiful grounds and my son pet a baby goat, a Llama and a horse here! There is also an amazing otter that they feed every day and I recommend bringing your kid to watch the show!

We were very happy to discover this place. Only 15 minutes from Stamford downtown. There is a bit of everything here: I really liked the palace and the statues. The boardwalks were nice and peaceful. We met two young fawns there. Also on the territory of the nature center we saw a lot of animals: cows, goats, chickens, ponies, pigs, horses, llamas and many reptiles in small souvenir houses. And otters, they are as always, amusing and amazing. Worth a visit for sure, even without children - a good anti-stress therapy.
Not really for adults. When was the last time you were at the Stamford nature center? Maybe as a child? It’s got a cool old mansion with an art gallery, sculptures outside, an adjacent Full farm with petting, a natural preserve watershed with trails and elevated deck, and a little bit of art and a lot of basic science. They also have a brand new “barn” area w patio that opened November 2018 for wedding ceremonies - it is very nice. and they are building a full planetarium and observatory over the next few years! Disabled accessible, family friendly. No pets. But glad I came it’s very pretty today! Will come again. Plenty of donations. Snack food at gift shop and food trucks on site. Would give 5 stars if more epic scenery for adult hikes. Great for kids. Great for indoor and outdoor events. Good for weddings.

Can never go wrong here !!! We showed up around 2ish, staff are friendly ...got our rentals quickly and they were the most comfortable boots we've ever had ( I took note of the brand) we brought the 3-9 ticket and hit the slopes! Lifts were quick and lines little! This place has never disappointed me in 45 years of skiing! I enjoy seeing the old t-bars and hearing the kids wonder how those were used 😱🤣 on the rides up.

Excellent customer service! The staff were all smiles and eager to help. This is a great spot for beginners—the ‘black diamonds’ felt more like blue slopes to me. It’s the perfect place to spend a day, not just hitting the slopes but also relaxing at the lodge and soaking in the beautiful white landscapes. The infrastructure is a bit outdated and could use some maintenance, but once that’s addressed, you’re sure to have a fantastic time here!
Group lesson starts at $50. Ski pass for day is about $50 and the ski rentals were starting at $50. The instructor was very informative and helpful and it was my first time doing it and she was great! Great spot thats close by from city and easy to work with!
First time there today. Such a nice mountain and only 1 hour 40 minutes away from Connetquot State Park …it is small but worth it!!! Lots of beginner trails for a nice ride down the mountain. Lodge is quaint but cozy…. Will definitely be going back!!!

Very fun mountain to ski at. The trails are pretty small, but the vibe is always the best. The terrain park is definitely the best part about this mountain. Every season they come up with amazing park set ups for both the small park (Low Tide) and the large park (Double Overhead), and never disappoint.
Though I have been to Thunder Ridge many times over the years, recently went there during MLK weekend. Though it was super crowded things were pretty smooth- both automatic machines that’s supposed to print the pass for online purchase was acting up on and off but the ticket counter was fairly quick. Everyone who worked at the lodge was busy running around serving customers. Food ordered via QR code came in a decent time considering the number of orders during peak lunch time. Almost all trails and lifts were open and running smooth - not much wait time. Parking could be streamlined better but still good amount of parking was there. Will definitely go back and strongly recommend to check it out for someone who is from Westchester or Putnam or even NYC.
I went here for my first here ski lesson. The instructor was very patient with me and I got to learn a lot. My friend who actually took the ski lifts explored the other trails really liked it too. From my experience this seems like a place where parents get the toddlers for their beginner ski lessons.

The hour-and-15-minute ride provides a pleasant experience with good boat and crew. While the interior could use some improvement, there are various food options and a nice bar on board. The ferry also boasts beautiful views, ample walking space, and decent bathrooms. However, some passengers advise against eating the food due to quality concerns.
This is an amazing journey, I highly recommend taking a ride with the brilliant staff that man this vessel and make every day special. A fun time for all the family, for loved ones to rekindle their passion; for poets looking to pen a dream. This you will savor.

A smooth sail and ferry process.
Cost is reasonable and you save upto 3-4 hours, so it is worth it. 1st and 2nd floor are for cars / trucks / big trucks, a snack shop is on third floor, and fourth floor is the open area hangout place to enjoy the sail and views.
My travel eve: The weather was just perfect, smooth water and no wind gusts. So a perfect day.

The boats are old, dirty, and gross, but the food is decent. They need to redo the fleet the way CrossSound Ferry in the east end has done. The windows are so covered in filth that you can't even see out of them clearly. Very disappointing.
Easier than driving, just get there early if you want a table, food served in the house as well as on the vessel. Safe, low stress way to travel to Bridge Port and Port Jefferson.
Great way off Long Island without going through NYC traffic and the insane Citiots that drive like nothing matters especially for a motorcycle. Either Port Jeff or Orient both great ways to get off the island. Boats are climate controlled, clean, food and drink are served. Staff is nice unless you fail to listen to their directions (LOL, seen it). Cars should make reservations online in advance. Motorcycles can drive up and purchase tickets at the booth.. they always have been able to fit me in.
The ride was sooooo peaceful,but once you get off the boat everything is closed I had to take the city bus to the mall
It’s time to revamp the fleet. The boats are so old, gross and need of an update. The orient ferries are so much better. These ferries must be from the 80s and haven’t been updates since. Come on. Do better
We arrived early and left the car to sit outside on their deck, watching the ferry come in at 5 pm. The trip was uneventful and pleasant. People sat in the bar lounge and outside on the top deck.

This is a hidden gem (sorta speaking). It is a state park but I knew nothing about it. Well let’s just say it’s perfect. Besides the sand being a bit rocky. There was plenty of room here and we did not feel crowded like other state beaches we have been at in the past. The water was great, and the life guard presence was an added benefit. They have a great little outdoor restaurant there for many different food options. There was abundant parking and the upkeep of the grounds was great. The park employee at the entrance telling everyone about weed and excessive loud music being prohibited was great. I will say it’s nice to go to a beach and not have the overwhelming smell of weed constantly around.

Beautiful place for pictures as there various groups taking professional shots. The tides come in and out 2x per day which opens up a path to the nearby Charles Island. Low tide in the evening allows you to walk out and take these amazing shots of the sunset.
Free parking access for CT residents, out of state plates have to pay for the parking. There is a little bit of a walk along the boardwalk to get to the beaches.

Silver Sands State Park is a real hidden gem right on the Connecticut coastline. Visited Silver Sands State Park during a family trip to Milford, CT in early to mid-November, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The weather was perfect — around 60°F — pleasantly cool but not too cold.
We took the Silver Sands State Park trail, which is mostly boardwalk-based and very easy to walk. After just a short stroll, you reach the beach — wide, clean, and peaceful. There’s also a rock-based walkway or jetty that extends out into the water. It’s a great spot if you enjoy taking photos or just want to take in the view.
One thing that really stood out was the shoreline — it’s full of seashells of all shapes and sizes. That seemed to be the park’s unique charm. We even noticed a few ladybugs around (so if you’re not a fan of bugs, just be aware).
Parking was plentiful and hassle-free. Since we visited outside of the park’s fee window, we didn’t have to pay for entry — an added bonus! We also saw a few people fishing, so it might be a nice quiet spot for anglers.
There’s a porta toilet available; it was clean, though it did look like it could use a tank emptying soon.
Overall, the park felt calm, clean, and scenic. If you have some free time in Milford or just want a relaxed outing with family, Silver Sands State Park is definitely worth a visit.
I can’t say enough good things about silver sands Park. A beautiful boardwalk that runs down the shore to several smaller beaches and through the marsh. A beautiful pier to enjoy and many fishing spots. At low tide a sandbar so you can walk over to Charles Island. Very clean beach areas with loads of shells for collectors and crafters A covered pavilion with tables and chairs to sit and enjoy your lunch, a snack bar-coffee hut. Clean restrooms, lifeguards on duty and very alert, a first aid building, bike racks, volleyball nets, charging stations for electric vehicles. Very picturesque area and at low tide is a dreamland for the young kids to play and enjoy, and if you want more privacy away from children there are several smaller beaches down the boardwalk you can choose. Plenty of room on the main beach with an incredible view of the ocean and on the day I was there many colorful sailboats sailing in the distance.On my second day back I discovered a bbq area with picnic tables. This area is away from the beach areas near the parking lot.
Silver Sands never disappoints. Real peaceful vibe — perfect place to clear your head, walk the boardwalk, or just kick it by the water. Beach stays clean, sunsets hit different, and there’s always a good breeze coming off the ocean. Also dog friendly but not much garbage cans.
Silver Sands State Park is a dream location for photographers! From sunrise over the Sound to the scenic boardwalk and tidal marshes, every view is picture-perfect. Peaceful, beautiful, and full of natural light a must-visit for any photo lover! Great for engagement, couples and family sessions.

Mt Carmel is a forested mountain peak that boasts well-marked hiking trails and an observation tower that provides stunning views of the Long Island Sound. Situated in Ontario, this park is located north of Lake Superior and offers dramatic topography that can be seen from the challenging Giant Trail and Thunder Bay Lookout. The rocky shoreline at Killbear Provincial Park adds to the natural beauty of this area.
If you look at all the reviews it says easy hike. If you stick to the one main trail it is pretty easy. But if you split off onto some of the single track trails those are steeper and more narrow. So just be sure you know where you are going when going off the main trail. Sleeping Giant has a lot of trails to offer all different difficulties. Some remind me of Break Neck.

Great place to hike! Saturday was my first time visiting and we stuck to the path all the way up to the tower, the path is more rocks than gravel, make sure you wear the right shoes.
The tower is closed due to Covid but just beyond the restroom there are cliffs with incredible views. We arrived around 6pm and it was perfect weather, many people were out in safe distance.
I started going here with a group from my gym (Title Boxing Club of Milford ) and fell in love. I love the simple but enduring hike upwards. It's definitely a workout for the legs going up, up, up! There always seems to be plenty of people on the path which is a good thing for me, b/c i'm a bit of a scardy cat when it comes to woods, and being spooked and such! I'm always on the lookout for blair witch -- lol! Now that we pay the state park fee with our registration, you can just roll in and park (i was always that person who was a block away and realized i had no cash on me). I was really missing this park when they shut down after the tornado last year (2018). But happy to see them reopen and just as beautiful and clean. I swear that uphills feels steeper! There's bathroom facility on premises. Once you get to the tower, it's a great spot to hang or do a little picnic. Or you can picnic at the bottom of the hill. Plenty of options. Be sure to bring water, bug spray, sun protection...etc
Me and my 3 and half years old son love this beautiful place! We've been there 3 times this month.
We like hiking off the main road and explore the cute mushrooms and different plants and trees.
I always carries his balance bike so he can ride all the way down the main road, so we both won't be tired out.
Unluckily few days ago, someone stole the balance bike that I put it halfway on the roadside on top of some big stone. We're both very upset, who will ever take a little boy's bike? We only left about 1 hour then it was gone, I guess we shouldn't do that on a busy Sunday.
But still we had a lot fun here and will go there again and again, there's plenty of trails and my son enjoy it all the way down, he didn't mind his bike was stolen, he says never mind, he can buy another one by himself.lol
Great hike (roughly 2 miles if I had to guess to the top). Once you get to the tower, continue on the trail in front to get some awesome views (going to the top of the tower is closed due to COVID)
LOVE hiking here , people are nice and it does get packed sometimes when there is no school or you go after 5pm on a nice day!

It’s thrilling to think that these landforms are the peaks of granite hills that were submerged during the last Ice Age.
Unlike many of the islands on Long Island Sound, the Thimble Islands are sturdy because of their granite bedrock and were settled in the 17th century.
The sheltered waters soon became a key deepwater anchorage, and one story goes that the pirate Captain William Kidd buried his treasure here.
There are 81 houses on the archipelago: Fourteen of the islands have only one house, while the most populated, Money Island, has 32. There are three boat companies at the Stony Creek Dock waiting to take you out on a narrated sightseeing cruise full of compelling stories.

Lovely vineyard with an excellent selection of wine. Enjoyed the wine tasting they have. I’ve been quite a few times and enjoyed it each time. It’s gorgeous when the sun is setting too. You feel like you are in the most serene, peaceful environment. The ambience is everything. My friends and I brought some cheese, crackers, grapes and with their wine, it was both perfect and memorable. Highly suggest going there for a romantic evening, an evening out with friends, or for any special event. 10/10!!
Gouveia Vineyards is a beautiful vineyard. I photographed a proposal there on the dock they have down by the pond and it was wonderful. The staff inside were great too. We ended up getting the Stone House White wine and it was delicious!
Great place for everyone, with a wide selection of delicious wines. They even had a variety of slushy drinks for those who want something other than wine.
We like to explore different vineyard, the scenery is exceptional, prices very decent, is a growing place to evolve for the best . Worth to pay a visit and have a wonderful evening with the family or a date .

Lovely property, great venue, love the wine choices. They also sell beer and non-alcoholic beverages, with complimentary water available. Our gathering of old friends was so fun! Everything is clean and well kept. The afternoon sun turns into pretty sunset views. Highly recommend! (Reminder: do not bring in any beverages, incl water.) You may pack a basket or cooler bag and bring your own snacks! I think we'll make this a tradition!
We visited on a Tuesday morning, it was a little cool and breezy, so we sat inside.
There were a few other parties inside, but it was not busy.
We each ordered a flight, normally the flight comes with a souvenir glass but they were out when we visited so the employee took a couple dollars off our flight. The normal price for a flight is $15 and $20 for the dessert wine tasting. My flight included 2 whites and 3 reds, I enjoyed them all but the pours were extremely small. If you don't want a flight a glass of wine is $10.
You can bring food to enjoy with your wine.
The scenery is beautiful, great for photo ops.
Visiting orchards, hard cider and vineyards in CT. We saw this vineyard and it looked like a nice and elegant vineyard. Mistake, once you get inside it’s like a bar, loud, they don’t service any type of food. People were brining in food and an indoor picnic with a bar. Don’t be deceived from the pretty outside of the building. Find another vineyard.

The scenery is beautiful and you forget all about the busyness of the cities. It is a huge property with a lake and lots of indoor and outdoor seating. The wine itself is very well made and the chardonnay is one of my favorites along with Cabernet Franco and the house red. We have been there in all seasons and a lot for the sunsets. Definitely worth the drive for a place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.

One of a kind park with camping and exquisite beaches, and best of all CT car plates get in for free. Their little museum is full of live animals too, so cool! The hiking trail at the very end is the gem though, beyond words how beautiful!
The water was nice and warm very clear path on beach even with clutter of other guests. There are changing rooms in rinsing off stations as you exit the beach plus a small little bistro quick grab snacks. Plenty of parking spaces with multiple lots available plus there is a shuttle service offered for the campers
This was a busy beach when we went on a Saturday afternoon. There were a lot of people sunbathing but nobody in the water that day.
They have clean restrooms with a large covered pavilion. You can also walk on the trails along the beach. I was told by a close friend that the lagoon across the beach is a great place for bird watching too. There were a lot of birds flying around when we were there.
The beach is very clean and tidy. It is also good for family to go there and picnic. There is a good beach, spending time on the beach is also a nice way to spend time. There is a good trail along the beach which goes to a height from where the view of the beach is nice.
Best Ct Beach! I love how big it is. I always find a quiet spot. There is an awesome linear trail to walk also. I take a break from sitting too long on the beach & walk the boardwalk to the beautiful nature center. The wildlife here is simply amazing. I also camped here for many years in my life. Everyone is so friendly. There are beach pavilions also. They have rest rooms, changing rooms & showers. The view from the beach is stunning. There are many fantastic places to eat right on Rt 1, down the street, from american, seafood to italian & McDonalds. Everything is very close by. I now live in Florida, but every time I visit my family in Ct. This is my absolute favorite, go-to beach for EVERY season.

Along the shore I wandered today, coming to a few spaces to pause in admiration of the ocean 🌊 so vast. Sitting by the water 💦 one of these times for about an hour, she gave me a sea shell 🐚 that she asked me to bring along with me.
This has been another space I have been meaningfully guided to. The land, water, and I shared LOVE with each other. ♥️
A lovely experience at this beach are the dunes with sandy paths running through them as part of many access points to the beach. I really enjoyed wandering through here too coming to plant 🌱 friends I so appreciate…the Roses of the beach, of course, along with Red Pine, Juniper, Honeysuckle, Goldenrod, St. John’s Wort, Mullein…
Absolutely gorgeous! My kids had a ball! Tide was low while we were there so they went out pretty far. Not too rocky or shelly. We'll definitely be back again before summer ends!

This place was a lot of fun! Parking is free. Everyone gets a life vest and it’s required at all times so it gave me the confidence to jump in because I cant swim at all! It was so much fun to swim back and forth to each float and across to the slides and zip line. The park itself is not too small but not too big so the kids can run around on their own since they have life vests the whole time. I only gave it 4 stars because of the food stands. The food was very overpriced for the low quality. We got the $15 chicken tenders/fries combo which came with a very small drink with no lid. The food was being called out before I even finished paying so it was not fresh cooked to order. The fries were not hot or fresh they were pretty cold and mushy and the tenders were very small and slightly warm. Bees all over our food and our uncovered drinks while we were trying eat. We had to move several times because of the overwhelming bees. We did see many people bring their own food and coolers inside the park. So next time we will definitely bring our own food and drinks for a better experience. If you are a bit on the heavier side (over 200lbs) like me, just an fyi these floats do require some upper body strength to be able to get out of the water and climb the floats. My shoulders were very sore the next day from having to pull myself up so many times out of the water but I had a blast with my daughter 🙂
I had no idea this was here. I was out on a bike ride, just exploring the industrial area on a day off in early fall. I'm sure if I was younger I would want to live here. It looks like an oasis of fun! I looked at the other pics posted here, but I'm sure they don't do justice that this deserves. My second visit was an early spring day. I need to make an effort to get here while the park is in season
This place is Amazing as is the making of it! I stumbled across this hidden paradise the year it opened and have returned each year. Each year something new and exciting pops up. The owners and staff are beyond wonderful! This place is a 100 💫 in my book!
We came as a group of 11 and had so much fun! The climbing to the 1000 foot and even the 750 foot ziplines was a challenge. Our favorite was definitely the racing ziplines which fly 750 feet across the quarry. We had perfect weather and the crowd was minimal, probably because some schools were still in session last week.
Love this place!!! My family and I have been going for many years and I haven’t got tired. It’s great for the whole family, any age. If you’re planning a family day ahead of time, try to get a gazebo it’s great and convenient.
everything is so fun! great place definitely coming again. water is so beautiful love it there, food is expensive but the snack shop has cheap stuff for your kids they might want👌the white slide you climb up is not ideal. no water on it burned me and my sisters leg from the dryness so if you go on it lay on your back lol. very fun place tho!

This over 100 acre park with its stunning rose garden is a wonderful way to spend the day. Entrance is free and it is opened 365 days!
We visited on a Sunday afternoon in early autumn 2025 and were pleased to see some roses still in bloom.
There are over 800 varieties of old and new roses. The best time to see them in full bloom is mid June to early July.
The rustic gazebo is stunning and makes for great photo opportunities.
The are paved, level walking and biking trails all around and trees throughout are identified.
There is plenty of green space to relax and enjoy the peacefulness.
The Asylum Street entrance brings you to the to the rose garden, pond, bridges, perennial garden and greenhouses.
Beautifully clean and well maintained park for all to enjoy.

A beautiful park, and the several gardens are really something to behold. The roses were mostly gone when we went, can't imagine how stunning they are in bloom. Came here specifically to give David the tour guide five stars - so warm and friendly, and clearly has a real enthusiasm for sharing interesting history about the park. Definitely take the tour if you go.
Beautiful park in West Hartford near the border of Hartford. Elizabeth park has a large rose garden in addition to many other varieties of flowers. Lots of greenery as well as a small pond to stroll by. The park is clean and well manicured with many plant varieties. There are open spaces for playing sports and the atmosphere is relaxed. At the center there is a gift shop as well as several buildings with ball rooms which can be rented for events.
Went not thinking thered be much to see, but the roses are still going & beautiful, but my gosh... the mums they have... I may have a new 'favorite flower!' They have every possible color combo & different styles!! They really are worth going to see!!

The Mark Twain House & Museum, a National Historic Landmark located in Hartford, Connecticut, is a must-visit for literature enthusiasts and history buffs alike. This stunning Victorian home was the residence of renowned author Samuel Clemens and his family from 1874 to 1891. It’s here that Twain crafted some of his most iconic characters while calling it the 'loveliest home that ever was.'
Wonderful tour in Mark Twain house. We got the Living History Tour (a little bit more expensive). The tour guy dressed as a Twain’s friend and gave detail history regarding Mark Twain and friends/family dynamics throughout the time.
The house/furniture are in great condition. No photography inside the house. It’s a long tour involving going up and downstairs. They are very thoughtful and put out some chairs throughout the house for those who need it.
I recommend it when you visit Hartford CT. It’s a good place to learn more about the famous author.

One of the best historical tours I've ever been on (and I've been on a lot)! So much rich history and too many stories to tell in just a 1-hour tour. The property is well kept, and the house is restored to as much genuine detail as could be. Plenty of parking, folding chairs in each room for those who cannot stand for long periods of time, and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Tour tickets are a bit pricey but definitely worth it! No photography allowed inside the house, so get ready to take mental snapshots....you won't want to forget!
The Mark Twain House & Museum has a sprawling campus with different exhibits and tours. Plus, if you're a local, they have plenty of ways to visit for free.
We did the General House Tour. Beth was our tour guide, and she was fantastic! A five-star guide, and I would highly recommend you request her if you go. She was knowledgeable, patient, and clearly passionate about Mark Twain's life, which brought everything to life on the tour. I particularly enjoyed how she covered the real story of who he was: the good, bad, and ugly. She was very kind and patient with our 3-year-old niece who was on the tour, and helped get her involved.
The house is pretty cool (I wouldn't recommend for young kids though... or adults with severe ADD). I'm not a big fan of Mark Twain, on account of him being negative after his visit to the great state of Utah, but coming to this museum helped me realize he was kind of just a jerk to and about everyone.
The gift store might be the real highlight. There are some great gems here (I featured some favorites). A vibe I got from some of the employees was they were super passionate about history and Mark Twain's life, but having visitors to the museum was a necessary evil. That was from some, but not all, which is a fun irony since Mark Twain probably felt and acted the same way. I chalked it up as creating an immersive experience. If you like Mark Twain, history, or architecture, definitely plan your visit.

There are only guided tours of the inside and there are no photos or videos allowed of the inside. We purchased tickets ahead on line.

The home is absolutely gorgeous and the history fascinating.
You do not need to be a literary genius or even a fan of the author to appreciate the history of this home and the family.
Great experience. It's a must for any literature, architecture, or Victorian fan. The house is stunning, and the stories and fantastic. No photos allowed in the house! Makes the experience more memorable to be honest. One of the great quoted figures of all time.
Absolutely AMAZING. Alex. Our tour tour guide, was informative and humorous. If you're a Mark Twain fan, it's truly a necessary stop, because it's the only home that Twain truly thought of as his. He said about the house, "To us, our house was not unsentient matter—it had a heart, and a soul, and eyes to see us with; and approvals and solicitudes and deep sympathies; it was of us, and we were in its confidence, and lived in its grace and in the peace of its benediction."
It was so cool to see where he worked, played with his kids, spent time entertaining, and lived for so many years.
Note for those who have mobility issues: there are a lot of steps to climb. If you're unable to climb stairs they will only be able to accommodate you on the first floor and then you'll have to exit the tour.
When I was young I used to read a lot of books and some of those were by Mark Twain. It is a wonderful place where you can see it originally from creation and see the atmosphere where author was built it. Nice architecture and magic in the air.
Great experience visiting this museum. Olivia the tour guide portrayed herself as “Susy Clemens” one of Mark Twains daughters, she did an excellent job, i felt that i was in the presence of Susy herself. She knew a lot of the history and took us back in time.. If anyone is planing to visit the museum, it’s worth spending the little extra fee to have the experience, i highly recommend Olivia as the tour guide, you will learn a lot and she will make you laugh.. The house is beautiful, has so much details and is well maintained.. Simply a great experience!

After checking out the museum, went down to the cafe. The lady there was incredibly sweet and welcoming. Def recommend the blueberry lemon cookie she makes!!!

What an incredible experience. The staff we had the opportunity to talk with were all exceedingly helpful and a genuine joy. The spaces were exceptionally curated, in-depth, and well thought out. My son especially loved the calm space and I was blown away by the Yoruba World exhibit and the main gallery space. I can't recommend this museum enough.

This was a one of a kind experience visiting the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum today. I was totally unaware of the history of this being one of the oldest Art Museums in the US and the extent of the Art collections they have.
Has a diverse and high-quality art collection that may appeal to a range of visitors. Our favorites? The Morgan 1 Great Hall, a gallery with walls packed with art 2 1/2 stories up to the skylight. An informative "highlights" tour by a docent (free - just push the right button when ordering tickets). And a room for kids to relax and create, after viewing "grown-up art". Allow 2 hours minimumCafe. Or 4 if you read signs and/or have a snack or soup in the BMUSE cafe.

Located in Hartford, the Connecticut Science Center is a state-of-the-art institution offering over 160 hands-on STEM exhibits, educational labs, and a 3D theater. Opened in 2009, this nine-story building features interactive learning experiences covering topics such as physics, geology, space science, and more. Our experience overall was very positive. There were many diverse science activities that would interest children, teens, and adults. The exhibits ranged across disciplines of physics, chemistry, geology, and engineering. The staff were all very friendly and parking was convenient but did cost.

We planned a New England vacation for the family where we were going to visit all of the states. The only science center we have ever been to was our one back home in Pittsburgh. We wanted to experience what another state and cities science center was like so we put this on the agenda to surprise the kids. It just so happens the day we planned on spending the day at the science center was the same day of the Hartford marathon. We eventually found our way to the science center, but it was a challenge. The science center itself was amazing! The kids really loved all of the exhibits And the building was stunning! We ended up spending the whole day here. We even ate in the cafeteria, which we enjoyed. It’s sufficed anyhow. We’re glad that we put this on the agenda and would recommend visiting if you’re in the area and have kids.
CT Science Center is located in Hartford and is a hands on science museum. There are many exhibits in all the science fields that you can explore; it's also for all ages too. My favorite was the butterfly encounter; there is a room just for butterflies and they do land on you. There is a parking garage available. There are 4 levels open to the public.
My family and I enjoyed the exhibits. There were plenty to keep us all busy. My children enjoyed the play kitchen, dinosaurs, and butterflies. Blue Chip Creamery is also located there. I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back soon.
Very fun and educational but is primarily aimed for toddlers or 2nd grades and below. Lots of hands on activity that kids could do and check out to learn stuff. Butterfly exhibit was nice as well though personally not an insects person. Didn't give a 5 star cause I went for myself and there wasn't much activities for teens or adults. Had a nice relaxing view at the very top in the garden.
Well, it's a decent place to visit and keep the little one entertained. All of the exhibits keep us pretty busy. I do have a couple of issues with this place though. One, enough with the "they/them" nonsense. Not all of us subscribe to that way of thinking. Two, the place is severely understaffed and should designate certain days to schools and camps only, or make toddler Tuesday an every week thing. Today there were hoards of kids from several camps visiting; which is all good, but they were incredibly unruly and chaotic. They shouldn't have been brought to the science center, they should've been taken to Lake Compounce. They were throwing things, running, playing tag, and hide and seek. I saw only one staff member, by the wind machine, constantly reminding them not to run. Their chaperones were pretty much useless. Rather than enjoying our time exploring the exhibits, I spent most of the day either shielding my little one from rogue runners or trying to avoid the camp groups altogether. And these were much bigger kids. I don't think I'll be visiting any time soon. Management really needs to get a better grip on things, or at the very least, make toddler Tuesday a frequent thing.

This place is great. My 8 year old grandson loves it. Three full floors of amazing exhibits and an area with a really cool water playground (your kid will get wet - maybe bring a change of clothes). Highly recommended.
Been here several times with my kids. It’s a fun place for kids of all ages, but especially for school age kids who are curious about learning new things. The building has a cool design and some spectacular views of the river. Each level has a different theme and the staff are always so courteous and helpful. The lady working at the monster drawing tables in the DNA/genetics side of the exhibit was so patient with each kid in explaining the same thing over and over. The staff at the ticketing area were also very helpful in explaining discounts that I never knew I qualified for. Kids and adults can easily spend hours here!

Not wheel chair accessible, you or your attendees will need to climb four or five somewhat steep stairs to get on and off the train. The boat part of the event does not require using stairs, (you enter via walkway onto second deck of the boat) unless you need to use the restroom or want to buy food, both of which are downstairs on the first deck of the boat.
This is a fun for all ages event.
This was a good tourist railroad and I enjoyed my time there. The riverboat was cool too. The riverboat is not at the end of the line. You pass it and then they drop you off on the wayback. I was in first class and the seating was comfortable. Would do again.
Perfect for seeing the fall colors - online said it was a bit early to see the fall foliage but it was spot on & much better than around Lee, MA. We debated between this one and a different train ride closer to Lee - we’re very glad we chose this one! It was worth the 2 hour drive!

Had a fabulous 5 ⭐ brunch on the mid-day train. Very attentive staff narrating & serving our meal. Prime Rib melts in your mouth. Excellent chef & wait staff. Autumn foliage was on full display and scenery was spectacular. Very posh houses to be seen up & down the tracks.
Amazing unique experience. I saw every age on the excursion. We went on a trip organized by the CT Audubon Society and saw amazing bird life and the train ride was really fun to set the mood on the way there and back. The staff is very authentic. I want to do this again

Workers were friendly and it was just the right amount of people not too packed, but not worth $30 a person. I booked because reviews said it was smooth and beautiful scenery. It was very shaky, and right side was really just the CT river which I can see on any highway with a smoother ride. I was on the left side of the train which was a bunch of houses and dead woods. It says 1hr but it was really 40 minutes and a lot of stopping and waiting

Gillette Castle State Park in East Haddam, Connecticut is a fascinating attraction that preserves the former estate of actor and playwright William Hooker Gillette. The stone mansion, resembling a medieval fortress, boasts unique features like built-in sofas and a moving table on tracks. Inspired by his love for the Connecticut River, Gillette began constructing the castle in 1914, completing it in 1919. Situated 200 feet above sea level, the castle offers breathtaking views of the river valley.
Very beautiful spot to sit and enjoy. Gives you a tropical castle feel in the summer with how the trees grow in, amazing view of the river with a short walk.
Looks like there is hiking trails all over which is nice as well, building has restrooms even when it is closed (use front door)
Motorcycle Friendly & Motorcycle Parking Available which is a huge bonus.

A beautifully laid out & well maintained state park, the Gillette Castle - aka: "The Seven Sisters Estate" (named after it being on the most southern set of chain hills it sits on) has so much detail in the stone & wood work! At the visitor center, there are trail maps, bathrooms, vending machines & a museum type atmosphere re; the history of the park / Castle. There are also two restored 1/4 scale narrow-guage railroad engines (one electric & one steam) that William Gillette navigated 3 miles of track on his 122 acre property. Also here at the visitor center, there is a wrap around deck with outstanding views of the Connecticut river with lots of picnic tables. Its a very enjoyable day trip!

But you can still enjoy the exterior out the castle, and the views, trails, restroom, picnic tables. The area is gorgeous and beautiful walks. So glad we checked it out and we met some wonderful people while we were there.

You can take a tour of the inside now, a few years ago we were here and unable to go inside due to I believe it was renovation from what I remember. Glad to have been able to go inside, a lot of cool stuff inside, lot of interesting history, and just the architecture is amazing.
There's also a trail you can hike if you like, unfortunately we didn't have time for that and the weather wasn't very dry for us to consider doing it during our short time in the area.

Tip: Be sure to purchase and print your tickets ahead of time for your preferred time slot. We didn’t have access to a printer and ended up waiting about an hour before we could enter. Thankfully, we used that time to explore the grounds and enjoy a relaxing hike through the park.
Such a hidden gem. Wasn't busy as the castle itself is closed for the winter. But the grounds were so neat, pretty, well cared for. Great views of the river.
Tremendous tip from my chiropractor to visit this incredibly unique castle completed in 1919. The stony exterior defies description, you must see this for yourself. Loyal staffers give detailed stories to help understand the architectural and engineering wonders of William Gillette, the building’s visionary and owner, actor, and the author who brought Sherlock Holmes to life, a character he personified.
He designed and had built 47 unique wooden doors with each lock differing. He had installed secret passageways, mirrors to observe his guests unseen, edifices for his large menagerie of cats, and fascinating use of flooring materials used on walls to soundproof the entire steel-reinforced structure. Innovative and way ahead of his time, features such as radiated heat (including a heated bed), and electricity using wooden switches!
Check out the world class art gallery, prized artwork hand picked by Gillette to support the up and coming artists of his day. Enjoy the grounds as well, see where his private Underground Railroad was hosed, and catch a play in the outdoor theater. Warning: steps and stairs are not for the feint of heart. Also, no visible public restroom at the castle; you have to go to the visitor’s building which has a modest gift shop. Ample parking lot by visitor’s building. Bring your walking shoes and add a trail to your itinerary.

Tickets are in 15-minute increments. We were a party of 3 and the next available time was 45 minutes away. Perfect amount of time to watch the movie about Mr Gillette and look through the artifacts.
Concession stand is closed, pack snacks or a picnic lunch.
Tour is well organized and they keep people moving but not hurried.
I grew up in Connecticut but had never been to the house. It was a great day trip!

This is a really nice little museum. It's always a treat to see original artwork, and this particular museum made me appreciate picture books more deeply. Creative, insightful, and at times even moving, the art on display was very well curated, and the building is great. Definitely worth the trip to get here!

Small but very sweet museum that is perfect for little ones and short visits. Plan for 1-2 hours max to experience fully. Gift shop is cute. If you were a fan of Eric Carle's work growing up you will love this. Designed well for toddlers to roam a bit, safe space for very small children. May not keep older kids interested for as long. Definitely one to do for littles and for fans. I enjoyed looking at the art and I got an Ed Gorey shuffled story in the gift shop which was a nice surprise.

First time visiting this place and it was such a wonderful museum! I’m not a big museum guy but there’s something special and inspiring about this one. I could literally go to the museum more than once. Everything from the exhibits themselves, to the short films in the theatre to the library to the gift store and the art room - shoot, even the outdoor Apple picking area; this museum is just such a wonderful place. Not sure when exactly I’ll be in town again, but when I am I’ll be paying this place a visit!

A big, bright and fun museum - definitely child-oriented, but also fun if you had a definitely place in your heart for these books as a kid.
Interesting exhibits include art in relation to animal welfare and the process of book creation. I found it absolutely worth the $15 entrance fee, it's a very nice place to spend an afternoons.
My family and I love this museum. We have gone twice using our local library’s museum pass. The facility is very well curated, spacious and organized. The reading room is our favorite spot with so many favorite stories and fun imaginative play items to play with. The studio and it’s teachers have given us new artistic ideas and experiences and the opportunity to create based on inspired artists is so cool. Both the Christian Robinson and exhibit with the dock birdwatching activity have been highly interactive and engaging for us. This past visit, we were able to see a live puppet show for a very small fee! It was perfect for my 5 year old and again, a great new experience in the arts for us all. We love going here even though it is an hour from us in Connecticut! 🐛🦥🖍️
We love all of Eric Carle’s books, so we made it a point to stop during a recent trip. This is incredibly well done, and a nice tribute to Eric’s works.
I recommend starting off to the left of the reception to learn about the man behind the books. That really helped frame the rest of the visit for us.
I can see with younger kids, you could spend hours here. There is a artwork studio where kids can create their own pieces. There are grounds outside for a picnic.
We went just to tour on our own, and we were done in a little less than an hour.

On the self-guided tours after visiting the first room, where basic information about Emily Dickinson is provided, you can go from room to room as you please. There are guides in each room who provide information about the room and how it was used by the Dickinson family. The guides are knowledgeable about all aspects of Emily's life from where she lived in the house, her relationship with her family, her life, and her poetry. The guided tours last about an hour and on them you can get more information than on the self-guided tours.
The house has both historical furniture and restored from the Dickinson family. The decorating inside of the house is unique and has been restored from photographs. In a few rooms in the house there are interactive displays about Emily's poetry. There is a nice gift shop inside the house as well.
It is best to park on the streets near the house. There are a few handicapped parking spaces near the house as well. It is definitely best to purchase tickets online ahead of time. Tickets are also sold at the museum. If you have an interest in Emily Dickinson or just like seeing historic houses this museum is for you.

My experience here was truly incredible. I honestly don’t even know where to begin with this review. I paid to spend an hour in Emily Dickinson’s room, which was very peaceful. The gardens were beautiful, the staff were very sweet, and the tour was thorough and informative. If I lived near here, I would visit weekly. I love how they are constantly working on creating a more historical visit with renovations and updated facts. The Evergreens were closed when we went, but that just gives me another reason to come back and visit.
Our guide was very well informed but did not leave time for questions, which was somewhat irritating. The dress is white because Emily gardened but could bleach to clean, which is why she wore white. The garden was wonderful and authentic. I would return.
Well worth the visit to Amherst. Anyone who’s interested in museum curation and historic preservation should definitely pay a visit. The brother’s house’s original interior is being preserved while Emily’s house has been renovated to look how it did when she lived there. It’s really interesting. Both houses were well staffed by very knowledgeable tour guides who were excited to answer questions about Emily’s and her families’ lives. The cemetery where Emily and some family members are buried is just a short walk away. Overall, I was very impressed by my visit.

Our first tour guide ( thacker?- please correct me if I got the name wrong) was exceptionally good, knowledgeable and passionate about Emily and her legacy.
Stopping by this tour took us 2 hours off of path, but was beyond worth it for those who love Dickinson.
I really enjoyed my time here, I learned a lot about Emily Dickinson and her family. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes her work or even to those who aren't familiar with it yet, as it might spark their interest.

Mansfield Drive-in Theatre & Marketplace is a classic drive-in movie theater in Mansfield, Connecticut. It opened in 1954 and boasts 950 berths across three screens, each 110 feet wide. The theater shows new Hollywood releases with evening double bills during the spring and summer months. On weekends, it also hosts a large outdoor flea market. Visitors can enjoy the nostalgic experience of watching blockbuster movies under the stars while camping out with chairs and coolers.
Great place to find great stuff.
Not all the sellers are good though. I wanted to buy a tray, initial price was $25. Wife went to ask and got it down to $20. Later, we decided to buy it for $20and went to buy it. Suddenly the owner said she wants $25 now since she paid $20 for it and wanted to make a profit. So we said you said $20 and that is why we are here and “I don’t care.”.
Don’t get me wrong, I have met some great people who are willing to sell at a decent haggled price. Have fun!

A nostalgic drive inn - with 3 screens a snack bar & is pet friendly! Its been in operarion since they opened in 1954 and It is only 1 of 2 that are still open in Connecticut now / 2025. The bathrooms are in need of some updating (old "trough" style urinals) ... all -n- all, a great experience though!
Great spot for an affordable family outing . I grew up with the Naugatuck Drive -In and have so many wonderfull memories. I highly recommend enjoying this with your children and pets.
Food is very good but I suggest getting there early as the lines can be long.
Oh, and they rent radios , so if your like me and hang out in the back of your pick up you won’t have to blast your radio to hear the movie !

Great movie selection, good parking area for the movies, screens are clean, great snack shack, & the staff is super helpful. I didn’t just give it 5 stars because it’s the only drive in theater left around, it gets 5 stars because it’s awesome. Take someone on a date. Take the family in an SUV. It’s a fantastic place.
We watched Jurassic World REBIRTH.
I had a great time here with my 3y/o son. We had our vehicle backed in, so we sat in the back with our hatch open and tuned in on the radio station. It was perfect. There's plenty of parking, and the restrooms were clean.

An experience like no other. Space between cars so no accidents might occur. Concession stand had wide variety and realistic pricing. Entry fee is more than fair for 2025. Probably get some good exercise in if you arrive an hour early and just walk around the entire area.
First time visiting a drive in and it’s such a great experience. Came for the back to back play of Garfield 🐱 and Ghost Busters 👻. Dog friendly. Love setting up a pillow fort in the back of the jeep, enjoying the comfort of my little hideaway
Bathrooms, snack bar, plenty of parking with 3 different movies screens.
We loved our time at the drive-in. The food at the snack bar was delicious and they had a great selection of options. We went on a weekday so it wasn't too crowded and we loved that the double feature was perfect for date night (action for him, romcom for me). The person scanning the tickets also gave great directions to make sure we were at the correct screen.

Mohegan Sun is a vast resort featuring two casinos, an 18-hole golf course, and two spas. Stayed in a sky tower room which is nice. Plenty of room. The casino is awesome. Had fun playing slots and tried a few restaurants for breakfast and dinner. Staff are friendly and helpful. I like that you can check in online and get your own key card for room at a kiosk. Saves so much time and room was ready by 12:00 because they texted me. Just a very nice, upscale casino and surroundings.

Celebrating our anniversary, we made the trek to Mohegan Sun for a night in the sky tower -being the newest of the two. The not optional valet parking was a very nice perk to the check in protocol. I mentioned that we were returning guests and celebrating and if they had a loyalty upgrade available, it would be very much appreciated. I was told the best they could do was put us on the 23rd. floor with a nice view. We took the rocket ship ride up in the elevator and entered our room. It was clean, but dated. Almost like the real quick ride on the elevator brought us back in time. The television was either a 37” or 40” set and mounted with a tilt -that proved the level was either uncalibrated or missing in action. The “nice view” was looking at HVAC units on the roof of the very large casino floor. If you looked to the left with your face against the window, the Mystic River was in fact visible. The wall to wall carpet turned to tile in the large bathing area, but you are met with a 1980’s tub and cloth shower curtain. With a $300 per night stay (more than a night at the Swan Reserve in FL), a renovation is long overdue.

Our room located on the ninth floor was pretty good, we had a view of the river. The Sky Tower hallways are really clean and spacious and luxurious. The room was pretty good too with nice amenities such as a coffee machine and a refrigerator. Beds were comfortable and relaxing.
There are many restaurants to eat here but I do wish they would offer more Asian cuisine. I also wish they had a buffet to cater many food to enjoy at one sitting.
Overall, big space with large casino floors and free parking! We would be back again.
I can't rate the rooms because we didn't stay, but the place is absolutely beautiful with lots to do. Plenty of restaurants from pubs, lounges, and speakeasy's, to upscale Asian, Italian and Steak.. The shops were fun and also reached from casual to upscale. The gambling was good, with surprisingly plenty of quarter machines, which are my favorite and getting harder and harder to find. They have a couple of amazing chocolate shops with one small little bar that serves handmade chocolates with paired with specialty drinks. Plus an amazing bakery. A great day capped off with a fabulous dinner at Farm Italy. Definitely going back
I’ll start by saying that the resort and the casino itself are top notch. Many great restaurants and appealing atmosphere. However, they treat their casino customers horribly. I had made a reservation 5-6 weeks prior for this trip and specifically choose this weekend because they were offering me a “Sky Cove Suite” as can be seen in the photos included with this review. On arrival day I get a text to check in early, when I go to check in online, the room type was changed to “deluxe king” which is a standard room. When I called to get an explanation I was told that my Host was supposed to call me days ago to inform me. I got in touch with my “host”, Jackie, who offered absolutely no help with the situation including telling me they had so many events this weekend they ran out of suites, despite the fact I had a booked, confirmed reservation, they took it upon themselves to “bump” me out of my suite and cram my family of 4 into a standard king room. No offers of anything other than “I’m sorry, there’s nothing I can do”. I am absolutely appalled by the lack of care or customer service, I’ve never been treated so disrespectfully by a casino ever. In a time where casinos are struggling to maintain business, spitting in the face of loyal customers certainly doesn’t seem like the way to go. This will be my last trip here, I did enjoy the place “while it lasted” but I will not give my hard earned money to a place that does not respect me.
***Update- as of today, 11/1/25, not a single person from Mohegan Sun has contacted me to offer any sort of apology or to at least attempt to make the situation right. Their review “responses” are as phony as empty as their customer service.
Elijah was wonderful during the check-in process, he was professional and courteous. He fulfilled our every request and made sure our stay was comfortable and according to our expectations. Sky tower is by far the best place to stay even for a quick weekend getaway. Nice clean rooms and beautiful view of the lake. Always a great experience at this hotel. Plenty of dinning venues and lots of fun activities for the kids.
Took my grandson for the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip Off tournament. We had a good time. Had lunch at MJ23 Bar & Grill. Food was great as was the service. Prices were fare for what we ordered. Prices at the arena we're a bit on the high side.
Went to the Wolf Den to see an Eagles Tribute band Sept 27th, 2025. They were PHENOMENAL. its standing room, unless you have a disability or pay extra for seats, i think! But not sure. We stayed at Hampton Inn. Free breakfast. Room and BRoom was great. Clean. Friendly staff. Easy chkin, tiny bar, but a bar! FREE breakfast-dont wait till the last 5min to get there, or ull prob get very little, if anything. Theres a FREE shuttle that leaves every hour for Mogegan. It also brings u back to the hotel on the quarter AFTER the hour. I cant remember, but i think it takes u starting around 5p. I could be wrong, so call ahead to make sure

Such a lovely place to go. I tried five wines for $10 and you get a cute signature glass to take with you. They have seasonal flavors I got a watermelon and chocolate raspberry to take home. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable. Live music, beautiful views, and ample seating with Adirondack chairs!!! Would absolutely come back and look forward to doing so 🍷❤️
What a winery! The flavors and varietals were incredible! We visited here during a weekday and were serviced immediately. The woman working the counter was friendly and helpful and provided great hospitality.
I sampled a pumpkin, raspberry and some apple varietals and couldn’t have been happier with my choices. The pumpkin varietal was incredible and I can’t wait to have it come fall time! We would definitely visit again, especially on the weekends!
Happened upon the great little winery while out on the bikes for a ride. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch along with a flight of wines to sample. Generous pours with the flights here allowing you to have a more than a sip to sample. We came home with a couple bottles and were very impressed by the staff. This will definitely be on our list for another stop when we have time to sit outside and listen to some music as well.
Beautiful property! We talked to the mother of the owner and learned the white building was almost 300 years old! The apple pie wine was great!
Very cool winery, the wine was good, nice venue with food trucks, live music and vendors. My favorite wine is the Dana Black Cherry red. The wine smoothie was also delicious. Highly recommended!
Hidden gem. We were there for the Jeep Crawl which was a really cool event with really awesome people.
Large tasting room with two floors and outside seating. Great selection of wines, and even wine slushies. Check out the Wine Flight for a ample sampling of four styles, or opt for the Wine Tasting for some quicker samples at the bar. Sandwiches, cheese plate and pizza available to accompany your wine.

9.23.23 This place has lots of parking and there is a winery and next door, you can walk down or drive down, is their brewery. The brewery serves their wine. Or you can visit the winery, buy a bottle, then head over to the brewery. The winery has a tasting room and some indoor and outdoor seating. We prefer outdoor seating in the brewery area because there's more of it. We enjoyed a couple of their reds, but everyone has different tastes, so try a few. Staff is very friendly at the winery. Both places have different events, from live music to various vendors. This is a great place for date nights, small group events, and bigger functions.

Loved the autumn raspberry wine and the wine flight experience. The charcuterie board cart was well worth the money. Mini brie bite eith honey drizzle. So many great tent vendors.
Lively place with good staffing, nice wines, and a nice vibe. Bonus, they have a brewery on property too, so you can visit both. The winery was relaxed and chill while the brewery had many more people, live music, and a couple of food trucks. Appropriate feel for each. Go visit.
Stopped at the winery first and had a 5 tasting flight which I wasn't a fan of most of the wine I tried- but still worth the experience. Walked down to the brewery where there was music. Only sat for 1 beer which was a good sour. FYI for anyone like myself going to relax and attempt to have a nice adult evening... there were bus loads of children so if you are looking to escape kids-- the brewery portion is NOT the place to go. Otherwise it was an enjoyable evening.
Awesome experience at the winery today. The staff was very welcoming and great to interact with. There is a great selection of estate grown wines and a few others I'm sure you'll enjoy. The wine tasting included six samples. After the wine tasting, grab a bottle of wine (or two) and a wine infused slushy to top off the experience. Grab a cheese and cracker board and head outside. It was a beautiful fall day, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for everyone. We didn't tryout the onsite brewery, but I'm sure that is just as good. This was worth the drive. We will visit again.

My favorite winery! I’ve been coming here for about 3 years now. Their dessert wines are to die for, especially the chocolate essence and traminette. Give the wine dog a try too (a portion goes to a local dog rescue). I love coming in the winter time and enjoying a glass of wine in front of the warm wood stove. Pack your favorite snacks and enjoy an afternoon at Taylor Brooke! Since opening the brewery down below, they have gotten busier. Last time I went the line was super long and took a bit, but worthwhile in the end. There were a lot of open tables, but they said they were all reserved even though the website clearly states “no reservations”... no one sat at these empty tables for the 2 hours we were there so that was disappointing.
The wine and staff are amazing and the place is gorgeous! We were in for a bachelorette weekend and enjoyed a private dinner arrangement thanks to the owner. This winery saved our weekend after our accommodations cancelled last minute. I cannot say enough good things about our experience, the delicious wines and the super awesome staff. Can’t wait to visit again.

This former vaudeville theater features assorted plays produced by a local performing arts company.
We loved this theater! We saw Something Rotten- it was great! The cast was great and the theater was beautiful. I don't think there's a bad seat in there! We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. Vibrant down town with lots of great restaurants.

Wonderful play. Can see from any place in the playhouse. We stayed the night, but playhouse was only one hour & 20 minutes from Oxford. Will go again. All musicals, which my grand daughter loves.
Wonderful theatre! Had a great experience last night (7/27/24) watching "Something Rotten." And there were plenty of nice restaurants for a meal before the show all within walking distance of the theatre. Hope to be back for another show.
My husband and I saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show just recently this October.. It was excellent!..Just be sure to get there early

UPDATE - winter 2021 We just attended the production of WHITE CHRISTMAS and it was fantastic. Great musicians and actors! We are so happy to have such a great theatre in this area!
UPDATE- summer 2021 The Bradley is back in business and you need to be a part of it. We attended the John Denver tribute and it was the best. So much fun!
A great old place, great people, great actors and overall wonderful entertainment! They have made the old Bradley theatre into a real gem of Putnam CT. Add dinner at one of the many restaurants and you have a great evening! Plenty of parking around town too, and interesting things to see as you walk along.
They always put on a great show. At a decent price. I’ve been going here since I was very young. My favorite plays from the past were Cinderella, Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof, And Then There were None.
They’ve always got great variety to choose from over each season.
Recently saw the Addams family at the Bradley. The theater is beautiful, and the cast was very talented! The musicians were great. All of the volunteers were so kind and helpful. I will definitely be back to see more shows.

Elm Park, a historic 60-acre public park established in 1854, has recently undergone a significant renovation, making it an ideal destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. The park features reconstructed bridges, tennis and basketball courts, as well as winter skating opportunities. With landscaped walking paths, a playground, and a pond crossed by iconic footbridges on the east side of the park, Elm Park offers picturesque settings for picnics and leisurely strolls.
Beautiful urban park in the local historic district of Worcester that bears its name. This was the first park in the US where land was purchased expressly for the purpose of establishing a park for the public. While not a very large area, the ponds and pathways create a very pleasant and restful environment. Plenty of seating and a very nice area for children to play. Accessible for physically handicapped — wheelchair and walker friendly (except for the two bridges - but those don’t need to be crossed in order to enjoy the park).

I've always loved Elm Park 🏞️ I used to bring my girls there when they were little. My husband and I were in the area for our grandkids baptism and stopped at Elm Park just to go for a walk . It's still beautiful I love the bridge with the locks my husband and I will go back next time to place a lock of our own on the bridge we met in Worcester 20+ years ago and got married there in 2007 so we plan on getting back there whenever possible. It's usually clean and the paths are nice to walk through.
Beautiful park, lovely nature. Beware that while absolutely stunning in the fall, there is geese poop EVERYWHERE ☠️ Otherwise wonderful walking paths and a great place to just relax and take a stroll ❤️

My wife and I visited Elm park for a water lantern festival and we had a really good time here.
It's a great place for walking and spending time with family and friends. The playground is great for kids, and it's always clean! It's a great place to relax and read a good book.
Nice little park right in town. It overlooks a pond and has a really cool bridge. Lots of swings and things for the wee ones. It was cold today, watch out for the ice. Definitely go back in the summer time! It's so beautiful without all the snow.
It's a great park, especially for being in a city area. There's a pond with a couple bridges and paths around it. The park is also full of art pieces and a historical tree. There's a nice playground for the kids. Only been there once so I'm not sure what else is around. I was there for an event which had porta potties so I'm not sure if there are bathrooms or the porta-potties are there all the time.

A great way to spend time after your meal. It is a charming destination for unique and thoughtfully curated gifts. The shop boasts a wide variety of items, from handcrafted local crafts to stylish home decor. The friendly staff provides excellent customer service, making the shopping experience enjoyable and personalized. I dont usually review many places but i felt this was warranted....
I visited the gift shop early Sunday evening (after a 1 star dinner) with my husband and 2 year old. I had several staff members literally follow my daughter and I around the store like I was going to steal something.
I used to manage in retail for quite some time so I know all the not-so-subtle strategies in preventing shoplifting.
(Fixing that shelf of perfectly arranged dolls that just so happen to be right where my daughter and I were looking at toys, several times, in different areas of the store)
I felt singled out from the many customers in that store, embarrassed, and judged. I am 37 with a toddler and you think im going to steal??! Was it because my husband and I have tattoos?
Also, they were having a visit from a higher up or merchandiser. He was so loud and obnoxious about his plans to change the store around, I could barely hear my husband talk.
Not to mention, their food has no flavor and is less than sub-par. When i ordered a milk for my daughter, they gave her a glass cup, with a flimsy cover (that she almost immediately spilled) and a coffee stirrer for a straw??! Their fudge was waaay too sweet and had a taste and texture that was nothing like homemade fudge.
With the world on the verge of recession and word of mouth being stronger than you think, this is not the way to treat your customers.
I'll say one nice thing about this place. Our waiter and busser were nice, polite, and smiled.
Unfortunately that isn't enough to get me to come back.
There was an hour wait to be seated, and plenty of things to do to kill time. there is a huge giftshop where they sell toys, little novelty items, candy, and fudge. the service is ok, food is good, and price is reasonable. under 12 bucks for the chicken dinner and you can upgrade to steak for an additional 10 bucks and still get the family style chicken also. The chicken, bread rolls and salad were delicious, the pasta and the french fries need some attention. i would go back again.
They have the best gift shop. They have everything from toys to Jewelery. They make their own fudge which is available in their gift shop. The fudge is awesome! They even sell Yankee Candle Candles & Yankee Candle Products too. There is something in there for everyone. It's definitely worth a look. Oh, they sell their Frozen Chicken Pies in the gift shop as well. The pies are awesome too. I get two with white meat & no vegetables Everytime I visit. I hope you enjoy Wright's Farm as much as my family & I have for generations.
Amazing staff at the gift shop. They make you feel so welcome. Lots of great deals on so many items. Went to fall fling a few weeks ago and had a blast with all the items you could win. Nothing like shopping and getting served wine and appetizers.
Novel, quality gifts with a candy shop. I've seen this shop grow from a small kinda after thought to a busselling gift shop featuring unique gifts from all over Rhode Island and New England.
It's a great place... centrally located to patrons waiting for a table. They have GREAT homemade fudge and penny candy. Almost something for everyone!
