Had a great time learning about and tasting whiskey. Staff was friendly and of course I took some home. They had a wide variety of flavors that should satisfy most whiskey appreciators.
Justin C — Google review
Wyoming Whiskey offered an excellent array of choices for taste testing. I tried the National Parks, Maple, and other whiskeys. Char shared some history of the distillery and information about whiskey. It was a wonderful experience. The barbeque sauce was also very good.
Alyssa W — Google review
We have never had a bad experience with Wyoming Whiskey! Whether in person or over the phone, the staff has always been super friendly and helpful! Not to mention the whiskey is amazing as well as the bourbon truffle coffee! Y’all keep up the excellent work!
Daniel C — Google review
4 of us did the tasting tour. This whiskey is not for the weak. Ranging from 88-112 proof. We bought the Maple Finish whiskey at 100 proof and the BBQ Bourbon Sauce. Delicious! They also have maple syrup there that is amazing as well! I think the distillery should charge for their flights. Would love to support them more in this very tiny town of Kirby, Wyoming.
Jaime H — Google review
Never been there but I buy it at our local liquor store. I love it and so do my pets.
Mark G — Google review
We heard about Wyoming Whiskey from a brochure at the Wyoming Dinosaur Museum. The timing was right for the tour so we decided to go. Martha led a very informative tour. There is a small tasting (2 tastes) after the tour. The distillery makes small batch bourbon and rye whiskey. If you’re a whiskey/bourbon fan it’s well worth the stop.
Cynthia P — Google review
Not sure why I’m surprised, but Wyoming Whiskey has some great bottles. Also Char is in the tasting room is amazing.

Hot Springs County Museum

Local history museum
Museums
The Hot Springs County Museum & Cultural Center, located on Broadway Street, offers a glimpse into the historic old west. Visitors can explore the old bar once frequented by the Hole-In-The-Wall gang and immerse themselves in the cowboy era. The museum showcases Indian artifacts, geological displays, and features Cattle Kate's original kitchen cabinet. Additionally, it houses a general store and old doctor's and dentist's offices for an authentic experience of early day history.
The docent was very helpful and the museum is surprisingly complete for the area. We skimmed through a lot as not being natives, there isn't the local interest, but still a good museum. The room setups for the various homes and offices is very thorough. Kudos to the donations.
T. K — Google review
According to staff the Hot Springs County Museum has been around and accepting items for one hundred years. It shows. There is hardly a corner or showcase that is not stuffed with memorabilia. Two floors of exhibits. The basement has a recreation of shops from before the turn of the century . Well thought out and maintained. Thank you to the dedicated staff for preserving this important piece of history.
Marge — Google review
What an amazing museum! There's something for every history lover: pioneers, war-time, king cattle, period clothing, dress up time for cute photos, and a great scavenger hunt to get the kiddos excited! The staff is second to none, too! They were friendly and even offered my son a snack when his blood sugar dropped. We'll be back next summer!
Stephanie T — Google review
I loved visiting this museum. It’s a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. The basement is full of interesting items. Wonderful collection of arrowheads, displayed nicely. History of the hole in the wall saloon was totally unexpected. I will be returning with friends
Be R — Google review
Lots and lots of interesting historical items. The Hole in the Wall actual "Bar" is inside. And a school house next door at the Annex. Wonderful.
John M — Google review
The exhibits are numerous and well designed with very detailed authentic artifacts. The annex building includes a school house which was relocated. It is great addition to the museum. The walls have very realistic murals that enhance the exhibits. The museum is ran by a family...whose young son accompanied us to the annex and was very knowable and provided informed information on the exhibits. The museum is well kept and organized and extremely affordable!
Ana G — Google review
Great way to spend an hour or so. Lots to see and there is more across the street at the Annex. Well worth the stop.
John M — Google review
What a GREAT museum! Much bigger than it looks on the outside. Very nice displays; I loved the old dentist room! And the little schoolhouse across the street is a must-see...

Zane did a great job guiding! He provided some historical information about the canyon and cooked a great lunch with Kristen! My kids and I had a fantastic time and are already talking about going again! There was never a dull moment during the trip! Definitely get the full day guide. The half day guided tour is too short! You want to experience the upper and lower canyon! Zoey also did a great job with pictures. I highly recommend getting the photo package so you can cherish the memories!
Li-Ta L — Google review
Our family went on the full day white water rafting trip and loved it! Mac was an excellent guide. She kept us entertained the entire trip. We are already talking about when we are coming back. I highly recommend!
Jennifer W — Google review
Friday 6/27/25, my family and I spent the whole day on the river. We had an absolute blast. We had a really good group, a lot of laughs. Cole was our amazing guide. He was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of the area. He shared all the names of the rapids and how they got their names. We had a geologist in our group so it was pretty educational discussing land forms etc. Cole was a great instructor. Mac and Jesse were other guides that were a lot of fun too. Jesse did the cooking for lunch. It was really yummy. We totally recommend wind river rafting. The whole staff was really friendly and helpful. Woooohooo!!!!
Mary L — Google review
I have nothing but great things to say about our guide Jon and WRCW&FF. This outfitter is top notch, and the river is a great ride. We will definitely be booking the full day trip the next time we're in the area fixing the road. Thanks Again Jon, Danny, and team for helping make it happen! Pro tip... If you enjoy your trip. Tip your guide!
Shawn K — Google review
We had the best time rafting the river! We stayed at the campsite right next to Wind River Whitewater so it ended up being so convenient for us. Our guides were Zion and John and they both were awesome. The trip was beautiful and it was the perfect amount of adventurous and carefree. We felt safe and secure the whole time. Would highly recommend if you are in the area!
Abigail V — Google review
My family did both a whitewater trip and an evening float with Wind River Canyon and it was a great experience! John was enormously helpful and considerate with my mother in law who is medically fragile and has hearing difficulties. He's kind, professional, and is incredible at spotting animals at a distance! Highly recommend.
Beth N — Google review
The most AMAZING experience of my life!! John was our guide! He was so patient with us, so knowledgeable of the river and passionate about his job! I felt so safe with him. I was so impressed with McKenzie’s energy with explaining what to expect. Zoey was so calming during a little excitement we had. Thank you to everyone! I’m taking back to Florida an experience that I will brag about the rest of my life! 😍
Danalee H — Google review
We LOVED our raft guide Kristen!! She has tons of experience and was a great hype woman and leader. We did the full route, which has three class 4 rapids and lots of class 3’s. Views were gorgeous throughout the whole river. Would recommend to anyone!

Nature & Parks
Hot Springs & Geysers
Hot Springs State Park in Wyoming is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation. The park boasts an impressive 8,000 gallons of hot spring water flowing daily, providing visitors with the opportunity to soak in healing mineral waters at the free state bath house. In addition to the rejuvenating hot springs experience, visitors can marvel at otherworldly landmarks shaped by natural hot springs and observe Wyoming's state bison herd.
We had so much fun at the Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis. There are many trails to explore and lots of shade to enjoy the tranquility and make a lunch. We visited with our large dog and found the park peaceful and beautiful.
Teri S — Google review
In August 2025, we visited the Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis, Wyoming. The hot springs are adjacent to the Bighorn River, and they claim to be the world's largest mineral hot springs. The mineral rock formations are beautiful and colorful to see. The nearby mountain has "World's Largest Mineral Hot Spring" painted on it. We would like to return to Hot Springs State Park and spend more time there.
John C — Google review
Visited these amazing, free, hot spring pools! perfect for relaxing after a long day of driving! A must stop on a cross country trip. Thanks 🙏
Jeff H — Google review
Its a nice state park. We just drove through and stopped briefly in the park. Several picnic areas. Nice walking trails.
Nidhi K — Google review
Great place and the gentlemen at the visitor center desk was exceptionally nice, helpful, and informative. We will definitely return when we have more time to spend in this really cool town! We also LOVED the museum, featuring real dinosaur bones found in the area!
Amanda C — Google review
I come here every time we visit. It is relaxing and so well cared for. Stunning views, great walking paths, landscape and geology to see, and history to learn.
Megan R — Google review
The lady in the information centre is super nice. She’s so accommodating and gave us so many useful informations, not only about the state park but about our next destination as well. The place is perfect for a picnic and a walk. Of course, to view a bunch of bisons as well.
Yayan G — Google review
If you would like to see wild bison roaming free in the state park this is the park to go to you can drive your car on the road right up to where they are and as long as you drive very slow the price of sometimes across the road right in front of you was there about 10 ft of you. The park is beautiful and well maintained and a great tour stop. I love to go to the park at least three to four times a week I'm a local there are some amazing rock formations caused by volcanic activity that are absolutely worth seeing as well as the world's largest hot springs

We had heard about Thermopylae from other people we had met at other hot springs. It seemed like every one mentioned you fantastic hot springs. Sooo we changed our plans and drove here to fall in love with what we found. Fantastic Town, incredible hot springs, and the best photos of Buffalo we were able to get !! It was awesome Thank You very much

I love stopping in here! These guys are wonderful and are happy to give great information. I got rocks for all the kids in our classroom. It thrills my heart to see them carry around their rock pouches even on the playground and after school. Thanks!! The kids loved the pumice, fire agates, and other polished rocks. I get a unique piece of jewelry for my daughter every time I stop in. Stephanie

Wyoming Dinosaur Center

Located in Thermopolis, Wyoming, the Wyoming Dinosaur Center offers an educational and kid-friendly experience with its extensive displays of Jurassic-era bones and specimens from nearby dig sites. Founded in 1995 on Carter Ranch Road, this non-profit organization houses one of the world's largest fossil collections. Visitors can explore thousands of dinosaur bones from the Thermopolis bonebeds and various specimen collections from around the globe.
What a wonderful experience - for all ages! Well curated! I found it enjoyable to be able to take a slow-paced, self-guided tour and spent more time observing things I was most interested in. For those with mobility concerns: there are not sufficient places to stop and lean or sit - and there are endless paper signs posted, instructing visitors not to sit on the display perimeters. You may need to bring along a walking stick or your own walker/seat!
S. M — Google review
Our family of four visited August 22 and went on a dig for a day. We had a wonderful time thanks to our knowledgeable and friendly host intern Alyssa. She showed us around the dig sites and patiently guided our family of novices through a day of digging for dino bones. Throughout the day she shared interesting information and answered our questions while helping us feel welcome. We uncovered a vertebrae from a sauropod! We can’t imagine a better host for such a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this experience for families or individuals looking for a scientific and educational adventure!
M S — Google review
What a great discovery in this quaint little town! The fossils were plentiful and incredible. The dinosaurs and mammal skeletons were so interesting. We could've spent half a day here, but were on a schedule. Don't miss this place!
Beth L — Google review
I loved my visit! I think dinosaurs and fossils are super cool, I even bought myself a pinky sized trilobite. It took me around an hour to look at everything but I didn't read all there was we to read. My rating is slightly biased because I have a parasocial relationship with the fossil in the middle photo. It shows a fish that died while eating a squid, which is pretty crazy if you ask me.
K L — Google review
Only reason not a five is small museum compared to others. People were friendly! Great part is a tour and takes you to a dig site! The dinosaur skeletons and information was great! Take $150 minimum.
Gabriel S — Google review
A true gem of a place to visit. Stop along the road trip and check out the cool fossils and learn something new. There is a small food court and store if you want to check that out. They have military discounts and also have an option to visit the dig site. Regular adult ticket was $12.
Tony G — Google review
World class museum with fossils, the actual fossils, that I have only seen in books since I was a kid. Absolutely jaw dropping specimens spanning the history of life. The early life fossils are mesmerizing and build toward the enchanting hall of dinosaurs. This is a museum where paleo-nerds will totally geek out and everyone else will be amazed by the beauty of life on Earth.
Jim L — Google review
It's surprising to find such a beautiful and rich museum in such a small town. The collection is truly extensive and rivals those of museums in major European capitals. A lot of very interesting information. A must-see if you're in the area.

Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Star Plunge is a popular destination in Thermopolis, offering visitors the chance to enjoy healing mineral waters and exciting water slides. Located in Hot Springs State Park, it provides a modern and funky atmosphere for relaxation and fun. The facility includes commercial swimming pools where guests can swim, slide, or simply unwind in the mineral-rich waters. While there, visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as the Wyoming Dinosaur Center and Legend Rock Petroglyph for a glimpse into prehistoric times.
Been visiting the Star Plunge for over 40 years and it's still an amazing experience. There are very few places in the world where one can have such a unique experience. Don't pass it up on your way to the National Parks. Take the time to stop in, relax, and let the kids play. The price is reasonable and is good for the entire 12-hour business day with in and out privileges. They rent towels, suits, and lockers so no excuses.
K W — Google review
Great pit stop on our way back to Denver from visiting Yellowstone. Very affordable and fun for the whole family. The State Hotsprings parks is awesome too! The Bison drive get you up close to a lot of bison! It really helped break up our drive!
Julie H — Google review
Fairly busy, they do have lockers and showers. If busy you might to wait a bit for a dressing room. Day pass $15.50 a person so decent price. Vapor cave is very interesting, very hot. S good slides for older kids and adults, 1 for younger. Saunas, spectator area, snacks available, just the basics though, chips candy and drinks. They do have swim wear for sale on site.
Cathy L — Google review
Star Plunge is a great Hot Mineral Pool House with several pools and different temperatures. There is an outside pool and two slides outside, a hot water pool and a jump tower. Inside you have another big pool, and two whirlpools, a vapor cave and another slide. The changing rooms and showers are good too. Plenty of benches and seats outside. We really enjoyed our time here!
Sari — Google review
Really great place for a day visit with the family! We had a blast!! Facility was clean, Staff was friendly and pricing was about what you would expect. Water slides were really fun but they won't let you ride them tandem with the aller kids so that bummed my daughter out a bit. All in all worth the visit. They're open year round as well which us really neat!
The B — Google review
Stunning property! Amazing views! Loved the different pool temperature options. Large clean changing facilities. Gift shop on site with pool toys and anything else you might forget. Unforgettable experience
Amanda K — Google review
I've been coming to the Star Plunge since I was a kid. Although it was once a bit run down, they have been making great renovations to make this place the desirable location it's been known to be. What a unique place to swim in hot spring enriched pools, enjoy waterslides, and a bask in a mineral springs steam room. Bring a picnic, and also check out the park next door! It's worth the trip whether you're alone to relax, a couple getaway, or a family day.
Corey S — Google review
A cool way to experience the hot springs. A little pricey but you can come and go all day. It smells weird bc of the sulphur but otherwise pretty clean. Not a lot of food options so bring a cooler. Lifeguards were either completely disinterested in what you were doing or completely over the top lol Overall a good time

Wind River Hotel & Casino

Casino
Casinos & Gambling
Casual rooms with flat-screen TVs & minifridges, plus a fitness center & 2 restaurants.
We only went to the casino. We didn’t stay at the hotel. I’ve found casinos in Wyoming are a little smaller than other states (CO, NV), but Wind River had a great selection of modern machines. Very clean and staff were friendly. Will definitely go back again!
Tom M — Google review
The gambling is good, it's only a 2 hour drive from where I live and that's convenient. It's a nice and clean casino, with plenty of games although quite a few weren't up and running.. One of the days i was there the restaurant had a nice buffet that was reasonably priced. They also have another little short order restaurant where you can get a good breakfast. They have a Starbucks. The rooms are as nice as any other hotel but very expensive at $220.00 a night. I think that's crazy high for a casino no pool or hot tub or breakfast, literally just to put your head on a pillow. Also they advertise Rewards and such but it's only for high rollers and your rewards take forever to stack up. They do have a smoking lounge though!
Toni M — Google review
A very pleasant surprise. Reasonable prices. Clean room, restaurant was excellent, and a friendly staff. The only thing was the front desk person was on break at 7pm and we waited for the floor supervisor.
Glenn W — Google review
Drove in from Spokane with husband and our extended family plus our 1 year old Chihuahua Gabby. Everything we needed was provided in one convenient location. We paid for the pet friendly room and our family rented the regular rooms. The pet rooms are hard floors and easy to clean. The breakfast from the restaurant hit the spot especially before hitting the road for a long drive. The casino was pretty busy when we arrived and even moreso as we departed. Tribal members from any U.S. federally recognized tribe can present their CDIB and receive a nice discount. Good deal for the pow-wow trail.
Shawn D — Google review
Went to get some food at sports book. The worker that was taking orders, completely ignored me and let one of the other workers cut in front of me to take his order. Both workers then give me a very unpleasant look. When I tried to make an order the employee walked away from me and was just being very unprofessional. After that I just went left. Good thing cee Nokuu cafe was open. The workers there were Friendly and polite.

Had lots of fun in the casino, machine were loose and not just taking my money. Played for hours and had a great time. Room was nice, clean and cozy.
Rich D — Google review
Was there for the 5th time in 3 months lost all 5 times ! Did not have fun ! Put a 100 bucks in a machine and it paid out 2 bucks 100 gone ! That was it for me I'll never go there again ! I know you dont win everytime but the little payouts for what you put in is ridiculous ! Worst casino I've ever been too ! I have a lot of friends and co workers that pass through there I've told them steer clear and dont waste your money and time !

The Wind River Heritage Center is a must-see when you're in Riverton, Wyoming! It offers a fantastic exhibition showcasing the significant animals that have inhabited the area over the past century and continue to do so today. You'll find captivating information about the city's history and traditions, as well as insights into the life of Jake, the last mountain man. The center also features a Waxcaninet exhibit, depicting stories and individuals from pioneer times. The collection includes paintings, old books, and intriguing facts that enrich the experience. My visit there was thoroughly enjoyable! Also the lady working there was an awesome help and showed us around the animal expositions. Very sweet and nice atmosphere!

Great full hook up, basic rock covered parking pads, friendly staff. There are no fire pits, just a charcoal grill stand and a picnic table. Close to the main business in town and restaurants. Showers look nice, but are coin operated.

Great place to see an outstanding collection of wild animals. The wax museum of the mountain men was awesome.
Sue B — Google review
This is an awesome museum for area wildlife, it's up close and personal. Super extensive collection of wild animals from Wyoming. Bonus! Place also has a wax museum of early American settlers, a must see. $5 admission but so worth it , I got a personal guided tour of the entire museum. Staff are wonderful. GO!
David P — Google review
It doesn't seem like much from the outside, but it was amazing! Jacob did a good job of telling us about the animals and I was surprised to learn quite a few things. Then Harold gave us a tour of the rest. He was awesome! We asked tons of questions and he always had insightful answers. He knew what he was talking about and gave us lots to think about. We are excited to go back in the future. I can't stress enough to get the guided tour and soak in everything Harold tells you. I wish I could remember it all.

Hi Iva. So wonderful you and your family are preserving the Center. What a wonderful and historical exhibit. My in-laws lived in Riverton about 20 or so years ago and I visited the center and met Jake. Just caught his doc on Prime and took me back to those days visiting there. Be well. Paul

The Wind River Heritage center is a wonderful historical place to bring the family and see and learn about some of the history around our area. They have many animal mounts and traps to see from a true mountain man, Mr. Jake correll. They have a wax figure museum and the staff tells a wonder tale of past times that almost takes you back and puts you right in the middle of it all. Two thumbs up for the Wind River Heritage Center. A must stop place on your visit to Wonderful Wyoming.

We rented a pontoon boat last July and had the best time. We enjoyed it so much we have a rental reservation for Friday. Our dog loved it as well. The price is fair for the 5 hours you get and we definitely will be back again next summer!
Erica C — Google review
New marina building was a disappointment. Floor was disgusting. Salad was brown. It’s too bad, it has so much potential. Food was better at the old one. Outdoor seating area is nice and the ice cream is good. Live music is nice. Cash register girls were nice, but the ‘chef’ was clearly annoyed when I handed back a rotten salad and he gave me new rotten salad and told me it was freshest in the bag. Fresh with someone’s hair. You clean up your own dishes into the big trash can, like a school. It’s basically a dirty bar in a barn building. Outhouse toilets are cleaner and there’s no paper towels. No parking with a boat trailer, you’ll have to park elsewhere and walk.

We rented a luxury pontoon boat and had an amazing day. We were able to water tube on the water and the boat went fast enough to be fun and slow enough to tow kids. Spacious for the 12 of us! The canyon was absolutely gorgeous to drive through. A unique and amazing experience while in Casper, WY that we will remember forever. It was a nice break from all the hiking we did in the national parks that trip!

We were so impressed with the pontoons and the staff. They were professional, polite and very helpful. The service was top shelf and the smiles never stopped. We would highly recommend!

I direct a non-profit for people with disabilities, and when we brought our Adult Day program out for a pontoon day, they upgraded us to the best pontoon boat- free of charge!! We've been coming the past 3 summers and every year we have the best experience. They're always so kind and helpful!! The boats are always in good condition, run well, and we have never had any issues. They also always have plenty of life jackets to borrow. We HIGHLY recommend Alcova Resort!!

Lake Alcova, boat rental staff and tiki bar was all amazing. Been coming here for years and never disappoints. Make the trip, have a cocktail, or 3 and take it all in!

I may be mistaken, but from what I understood from the curator, all the pieces displayed are donations from families whose loved ones served in the military, all natives of Wyoming. The museum is well put together and displayed in chronological order. The curator was very knowledgeable in regards to facts and history of the locale. If you're into military history, it's definitely worth it to visit.
