We visited Yellowhawk for a wine tasting with our group of 12 to celebrate my daughter's upcoming wedding. George Ann made it an extra special experience for us sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for the wines she creates. She even taught my daughter and her maid of honor how to sabre the cork from the bottle and created keepsake tree ornaments from the corks, which made a perfect memento of the weekend. Not only was the experience special, the wines were delicious and the grounds are spectacular! I recommend Yellowhawk to everyone, especially if you love a good sparkling wine. Thank you George Ann for an experience none of us will ever forget!

There is no way to go wrong with stunning views, gorgeous buildings, and yummy champagne. We did not stay in the resort, but rather just opted to do a champagne tasting. Despite not being guests of the resort, we were treated very well by our server. Her descriptions of each bottle were extremely accurate, and I loved her knowledge. I always love it when the server knows the wines intimately and can give information beyond surface level. We particularly liked the Vinyard Select XT Blanc.

Yellowhawk is almost overwhelming, to normal folk we just don’t see places as extravagant as this. It is quite literally the nicest building that I have ever scene. After picking some brains we learned it was a place you rent for weddings or big events. But for us it was for Bubbles! Our only bubble stop this trip we got to suck down some tasty drinks while enjoying the endless view.

In July 2024, We had our 9th Annual Family Reunion at Yellowhawk Resort (Formerly Basel Cellars) In Walla Walla.. Our family and friends gather from Spokane and Vancouver, WA, California, Arizona and Montana. We continue to go back each Summer as the Beautiful Estate House with it's gourmet kitchen, multiple dining rooms and 8 bedroom suites works perfectly for our family and friends to enjoy a few days of visiting, swimming, a BBQ and just relaxing.. They also have a wonderful sparkling wine tasting room next door.. Sivi, Roxy, Dan, Shannon and Woody, and all the Basel and YH Staff has been wonderful to us over the years.. As the new ownership group also owns The Walla Steak Co and the T-Post Tavern we also make a point to have dinner at those restaurants..They have excellent food and service! I would recommend all three locations for locals or visitors traveling to WW.. We look forward to going back next Summer... The Sunrise over the Blue Mountains and the evening sunsets are amazing...🌄

We stopped at Yellowhawk Tasting Room on vacation to check out the sparkling wine. My friends and I really enjoyed their wine and the location was beautiful. I then decided to bring a travel group of 25 people back to Yellowhawk. We were BLOWN AWAY by the beautiful surroundings, service, food, and wine! We were set up outside under a private tent with a food and wine pairing. Winemaker George-Anne talked to us about each wine and answered all our questions. FANTASTIC experience!

Don’t bother. Made a reservation a month ago. We came from over 250 miles away. At 7:47 pm tonight (the night before our reservation)they called us and told us they were closed tomorrow

We had such a blast tasting wines here! We stopped in last minute as we had just pulled into town, and they were able to accommodate us. Linda was so personable, knowledgeable, and great with our kids. I’m not a big fan of whites and rosés, and the ones I tasted here were really good in my opinion. Bought a couple cabs. They waive 1 tasting fee with purchase.

I went for a tasting over Easter weekend for a friend’s birthday. The experience was good until it was time to close out. The staff member was struggling with their machine stating it was new. She ran my card multiple times and as a result I ended up with two charges near $400 each on my card. I contacted the winery they informed me that they were aware but not sure how to issue a refund. They told me that they were working on it and would be in touch. A week went by with no word, I reached out and received no response. I contacted my credit card company to file a claim and it was after that, that I got a text from Amavi again telling me that they were still working on figuring out how to refund my money. It took 6 weeks before my $381 was returned. Im pretty sure that I wouldn’t have been able to take my 6 bottles of wine without payment, noting that once I figured out how to pay that I would. Yet, I guess that they think it’s appropriate to hold on to nearly $400 of my money. I got an apology for my frustrations and a thank you for my patience, but I had to keep reaching out and push for my refund. I’m truly disappointed with this entire experience.
Cailin B — Google review
Linda hosted us today at Amavi, what a gem! We walked in right at opening having an hour to kill before a reservation. She had us in and out without any stress. The Syrahs here are phenomenal and unique, not your typical Syrah notes for sure! A nice view, plenty of seating options and felt genuinely taken care of.

Wonderful Experience. This is a must see in Walla Walla. Laid back atmosphere - Great wine and selection. The Winery only blends were superb. Campbell helped us - He is awesome and we joined the wine club for all his help. Thank You !

Insightful and fun tasting experience! Friendly service, great atmosphere, and knowledgeable family staff.

Our experience at Amavi was excellent and it was our favorite of the wineries we visited in Walla Walla. We had the pleasure of mainly having Stephanie serve us, who was pleasant, informative and fun. We felt appreciated and well attended to. Two other ladies served us as well. The grounds were beautiful and the building too. I suggest requesting the south or west patio if you want to sit outside in the sun and it's also got comfier seating. The north or east side can be shady and cooler. We didn't know and we ended up on the entryway patio. But overall, it was great.
Kyler B — Google review
Visited Amavi this last weekend with a group of friends. This is the second time we have been there. Both times we had great service and wine. We ordered two bottles of wine for the table, a Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon that did not disappoint. Our waiter Patrick was very attentive even though we were outside in the gazebo out a ways from the tasting room. Will be returning.
Sherri F — Google review
Stopped by Amavi Cellars with my wife on our “fact-finding mission” for her bottle shop job in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. It was our fifth stop in Walla Walla and my first time at Amavi. The 2024 Sémillon was a standout: bright, floral, and crisp with just the right citrus snap — I only highlight this because I have grown tired of whites and the many and varied offerings of Sémillon from Walla Walla wineries were a surprise. The staff was delightful, the view was stunning, and we left with a few bottles (including the 2022 Ceres). A wonderful surprise and an easy five stars.

The Lodge at Hot Lake Springs

Hotel
Spas & Wellness
Casual B&B set in a restored 1864 hotel offering hot spring tubs, a day spa & a sculpture gallery.
We had a great time! Our first time visiting this Lodge and it didn’t disappoint. The room 213 was beautiful and very clean. The soaking pools were very nice and there is a cold plunge which I loved. The lodge is next to the highway and a railroad 🛤️, something to keep in mind if you’re a light sleeper. We did eat at the restaurant which had reasonably priced food and it was delicious. We do plan to come back 🫶

We came over labor day weekend for 3 nights, so got a good taste of how the place was run The staff was outstanding the entire time. Even though they were putting on a live music event, they took time to make sure we were happy. The bartender and cook in the pub were super helpful, and the food and drinks tasty. Even the night crew made sure I enjoyed the hot tubs. Thank you so much! The new rectangular tubs were turned on just in time for our visit. That means 4 larger square tubs under a beautiful shade structure, 3 round tubs near the lake, a larger rock tub, and an old hot plunge were available. A cold plunge and 2 gas fire pits made for a really nice experience. Our room was very comfortable and cool over the hot weekend. Please come visit this place. Beautiful, friendly place not far from the highway!

My girlfriend and I went for our birthday here and it did not disappoint! To be honest I was more than impressed and it all exceeded my expectations. The staff are all friendly and you can tell that they love being there. The pools, the vibe, the rooms. All of it GREAT. Not to mention the pub and prices are more than fair. Will be returning as much as I can and have already been telling people about this magical place. When you go say "hi" to Rocky, the resident cat!
Asiyih H — Google review
The workers were all very accommodating. It's a small town and everyone seems friendly and approachable. The water temps were nice and hot. The hottest being about 105 and the coolest being about 100. There is also a plunge pool. We went on a Wednesday which was buy one entry, get one free day. Carp can be seen swimming in the 180 degree lake (crazy). The food was pretty good. They don't have any mixed drinks, or a full bar, and no espresso machine, improvements that I hope will come in the future. The rooms look clean and spacious, and they have nicely redone common areas.
Jordan W — Google review
We stayed in room 206, moody vibes. T'was moody and a bit dark, but chill. I wish I had known that the clawfoot tub was fed by waters from the hot lake, because then I totally would've soaked in there, too. The outdoor tubs by the lake are beautiful and the waters were amazing. The staff of the hotel and pub were kind and helpful. This place is super unique and I feel incredibly relaxed post visit and three soaks. Thank you for keeping this place going and I wish all the best in the rest of the restoration.
Jaime P — Google review
We spent this past weekend in a room and enjoyed the soaking tubs. It was so peaceful and relaxing. We watched a movie in the theater, took walks and enjoyed board games in the atrium, my husband even played his acoustic guitar out there. No tv was the best part! The new owners took over in 2021, prior, the hotel had been vacant about 15 years and left to run down. They have made some incredible improvements in 4 years❤️ It was a great experience and my husband and I loved everything! The pub was fun, food and drink were great all of the staff were polite and helpful. We will be back at least yearly if not more. Thank you for all you are doing to return this amazing hotel to its glory!
Janice F — Google review
The new owners really did a nice job remodeling this place. It looks absolutely amazing! The rooms are fantastic and the soaking tubs are relaxing. Lots of history in this old hotel and I also have a great restaurant and bar. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Had a great time and will come again.

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hot Springs RV down the road but soaked at the Hot Springs Lake Resort. The facility was very nice and the soak was great-I liked that there were several choices of soaking pools! Would love to come back and stay in one of the historic lodge hotel rooms!

We really enjoyed ourselves on the Christmas Train! If you are somewhat local, you can’t miss it! We went on a Sunday at 11am. It was real cold but we did fine in the open air car (there are 2) with all of our layers. The train ride is about 30 mins. Once in Sumpter at The Depot, some of our kids played outside in the snow while a few waited in line to see Santa. It was a long wait but Santa gave each group 5+ minutes of undivided attention. Snacks were cookies, donuts, candy, and cuties. Cocoa table was packed but we just waited and it was fine. Cute little picture taking setup around back. Then 30 mins back on the train. Our kids are age 3-13 years and they all had fun!! Staff was friendly and funny on the train 🚂
H&L K — Google review
We had an amazing train ride for my son’s birthday. The weather was perfect, the train ride was just the right length with beautiful scenery. We can’t wait to come back again for a train robbery next time.
Sarah S — Google review
Great experience riding the Sumpter Valley Railroad. Every volunteer staff member was helpful, friendly, and made our trip fun. We were lucky/fortunate to get to ride in the engine with Engineer John. Would highly recommend riding the train. We will be making this trip again this next summer.
Ed S — Google review
It was closed, we missed it being open by a few days. Next time we will chech their schedule first. Walking about the rail yard was fun. If you do walk the yard, use common sense as there are multiple hazards about.
SMB A — Google review
It was closed. We were disappointed because it looked awesome. Still snow.. Took a few pics anyways. Will go back in the warmer months.
Gary C — Google review
If you have time, I recommend a train ride at the Sumpter Depot. It was a nice tour of the historical mining town.
Krondus — Google review
We had a great time on the steam engine train ride to Sumpter. The scenery was lovely, and the crew had a lot of information about the history of trains in that area. All crew members were informative and fun! We especially enjoyed the train robbery "show" with our defenders on board the train. A great experience!

Was closed when I was there. There are many trails you can walk. We walked down by the river it was very beautiful & peaceful. I recommend stopping if your in town and the old Dredge is right around the corner that's a must see. There is a tour guide to fill you up with so much information he's also very nice have fun 😊

Came up on the fall colors train and had enough time to check this place out before heading back down. It's a very cool part of Oregon history and an amazing machine. I can only imagine how noisy it was as it moved along shoveling rocks and spitting them out. It definitely left it mark on the landscape and mother nature is slowly taking it back over time.. definitely worth checking out if you are in the area..
D A — Google review
This is the largest gold mining dredge in north America. Great gold rush history for Oregon. Nice walking trails and viewing spots for photos. The Sumpter rail road depot is within walking distance. Unfortunately both were closed on a Wednesday afternoon. But still a fun adventure.
Ken S — Google review
Great park with trails, interpretative signs and interactive history. Take gold panning lessons or tour the dangerous dredge. Walk the trail system or talk to a ranger. Ghost towns and train tours near by. This is a fun community that is fairly small but comes alive with visitors. Memorial Weekend Flea Market is a huge hit!
Scottie M — Google review
For those interested in the history of dredge mining, this location in eastern Oregon offers a fascinating experience. Exploring the dredge is truly captivating, and there is a wealth of historical information about mining in Sumpter, Oregon, and the broader context of mining. It is unfortunate that the television show "Gold Rush" may have negatively impacted this historical site.
Brandon S — Google review
Was very interesting to learn how this Dredge worked and all it's history. There was a tour guide with so much information and stories. Recommend visiting there are trails, old equipment to look at, and picnic tables for you to have a meal. Hope everyone has fun.

Super cool place with a walking path, gold panning class and a knowledgeable gentleman to answer questions.

The Baker Heritage Museum, formerly known as the Oregon Trail Regional Museum, is located in the historic Baker Municipal Natatorium. This two-story museum showcases a wide range of artifacts and interpretive displays that delve into the history of Baker County from the 1860s through the 1960s. The exhibits cover various industries such as agriculture, mining, ranching, and timber, as well as aspects of wildlife and Chinese culture in the area.
A vast array of artifacts and information about the Baker City History found here! The most amazing part was the huge donated rock and fossil collection. Highly recommend as a cool spot to explore and good for all ages.
Holli M — Google review
This is an excellent stop along your drive. The museum is huge and extremely well organized. The rock collection is the coolest part, being donated by women.
Dana S — Google review
This is a fantastic museum showcasing the history of the Baker City area. It also has one of the best mineral and rock collections I have seen. If your in the area, this is the spot to go to. Worth the price of admission. My wife and I thought it would be a quick one, we spent almost 2 hours seeing everything inside. Highly recommended...
Rory S — Google review
I have visited quite a few museums and I have to say for a small town museum this one has a world class gem and minerals exhibit that will amaze you.. then there's the exhibit for one of my favorite movies of all time that was filmed in the area. "Paint Your Wagon" . So if you like rocks and gems, Oregon history and beautiful antiques, you don't want to miss this place.. I definitely recommend stopping by and checking this place out for yourself.. absolutely awesome.. plan for plenty of time because it takes a while to see it all..
D A — Google review
Absolute gem. So many interesting displays covering all aspects of Oregonian/Baker City history - guaranteed to find something that grabs your attention. There's more upstairs, too.
F. R — Google review
Museum docent “Cathy” give us a warm welcome, and which introduction to this unique museum about the history of Baker county. We are Rockhounds who have been to natural history museums from New York to Istanbul, but the rock collection built by two sisters from Baker was by far the most diverse and most spectacular that we have ever seen! A fine exhibition about the local Chinese community was insightful, as was the educational panel set up in front of a bordello room. Tableau’s to show how mining and transportation were set up, along with displays of different shops and offices from the 1800s were very well done. We spent about 90 minutes, and then had a picnic across the street at a lovely little park with tables.
Heidi L — Google review
This Museum is amazing! So worth checking out. Cost is $8 to get in and the amount of things to see from the early days in Oregon is remarkable! Also if you are a rock hound and love nice specimens from the area and beyond with private collections on their stones is fabulous! Don't walk but run to go see this rad Museum!
Marci C — Google review
Loved this museum. After watching 1823, the exhibits of wagons, provisions and stories was fascinating! Many other interesting things to see and learn, you're never too old! The volunteer ladies at the entry were gracious and knowledgeable, it was fun to swap stories with them as well.

Vast museum with dioramas, live presentations & interactive exhibits dedicated to the frontier west.
Don't skip this park if you're passing along I-84 at Baker City Oregon. They offer expert displays and live interactive presentations. The park is only minutes away from the interstate and the entrance is easy to locate. The resrooms are very clean and their water station has the best tasting water. Views from the park are spectacular. You can see Baker City, mountains, the Oregon Trail, and the surrounding areas. Park staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. Parking was easy and they have many places to picnic.

Fairly small museum with aging displays. Beautiful location with great views and trails to walk and view old out building and wagon road ruts. Lots to check out near by. Staff were super helpful and friendly. Lots of interaction with the kids around. Activity books and high fives were of plenty. Under $10 for entry. Kids free.

Out of the way Federal site near Baker City, Oregon. Worth visiting. The museum is good. Lots of excerpts from settlers diaries including some actual diaries. Good talk about the Oregon Trail. Long walk to the trail itself. When driving out you can park much closer to the actual trail and take a short walk to the trail.

This is a cool place to stop if you are passing through. Its in the middle of nowhere. The museum is nice with a lot of information. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You can get in with your park passes as well at no cost. The nearby town is pretty nice and a great place to stop after here.
Robert G — Google review
“So what? It’s two ruts in the ground. Who cares?” We visited the interpretive center on a lark while in the area, and came away really moved by what we saw, experienced, and just the whole vibe of the area. This is one of those places that just feels IMPORTANT. Inside the interpretive center is a nice little museum with dioramas and information about the Oregon Trail and the travelers who took that route. Seeing the wagons in person really brings home the magnitude of the journey these people undertook. Then outside, there are multiple paths through the desert scrub to different parts of the Trail itself. And yes, standing in the ruts of the Oregon Trail just filled me with the most amazing vibe… there’s a weight to the place. You feel it. This is absolutely worth a detour to go visit, and my family and planning a return trip for next spring when the desert is blooming. It’ll be gorgeous.
Christian J — Google review
Its a totally must see place. You get a up close look at what life was like back then. If you go, plan on being there for a few hours so you can take the time to really explore the building and give yourself some time to walk along the trail as well. If you have pets that come along, be sure to leave them home because theirs no shade in the parking lot anywhere and they highly recommend you don't leave them in the car.
Seaira G — Google review
If you are anywhere near the charming Bakers City then the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center is a MUST VISIT !! A beautiful building celebrating a remarkable achievement. The staff we so very helpful. The exhibits giving you a real flavour of the hardship of travelling the Oregon Trail. If you visit Oregon/Idaho the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center really is essential.

Very good museum. Very educational. Many lifelike figures and animals. The wagons were authentic. The clothing was authentic, and the models to pack the wagons with all the supplies for the trip were very interesting. The views outside of the building of the Blue Mountains were breathtaking.

Farewell Bend State Recreation Area

State park
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
Beautiful, well-maintained campground on the Snake River. All the sites I saw (loop C) have electricity and water. I think some of the others also have sewer. On a Sunday night in August I had most of Loop C to myself. Full restrooms with showers at no extra charge. Spacious level sites have paved access, with plenty of room on the grass to put up a tent or screen room. A few negatives don't outweigh the good things here. There were a lot of bugs. A high gusty wind came up about 10:30 at night and lasted a few hours (otherwise very calm). Fortunately I was warned about the wind by one of my few fellow-campers; it had broken his tent poles the night before. The noise from I-84 a mile or two away is constant, and there is a lot of rail freight traffic across the river. A wildfire in the area earlier this summer burned the surrounding hillsides and right up to the edge of the camping area itself, and along the river bank. There's still some smoke smell. I didn't see any damage to campground facilities or sites. It's good that they keep the grass green.
Charles C — Google review
Very lovely well maintained park. With visible camp hosts available. The pull through trailer sights were very close to perfectly level, and the snake river was very close to the campsite. In hind sight, I understood why the loop closest to the river had more vacancies, the mosquitos are real, and insistent. Glad I had deep woods off towelettes. My pull through was 120, maybe it is called catfish loop? I would encourage you to stay in the closer, upper loops, which I image is further away from the river and mosquitos. The people in the upper loops seemed to be enjoying sitting in their camp chairs unmolested by the hungry horde of these tiny, flying menaces. I will be staying at Farewell Bend again, just in the upper loop.
Sally B — Google review
Good separation of sites, Catfish loop has an old water leak at site 107, more shade on other loops. T mobile cell service good here. Nice views of the river, trains run but no whistles, highway noise not too bad either.

We were here in late September, extremely windy all night. "Antelope Loop" or "A Loop" has very little wind protection, many of the old trees are gone. B and C loops seem more protected from the wind, but I cannot verify that. Pros: - Bathrooms were very clean. - Great views of the Milky Way. Easy to get to the park, good roads. Cons: - Goathead thorns make bikes impossible, also dangerous for pets. - Could hear the freeway much of the time. - Tons of RV sites, few tent sites with adequate room for an actual tent. Overall it's an easy, affordable place to stop (the extra $10 fee for online booking is annoying though). The wind made for a pretty miserable night and it would have been easy for a tent to fly away without any protections from the wind. I'll probably stay again in B or C loop to see if it's more protected.

It used to have nice green grass and shade but it’s very dry this time thru. There was a recent wildfire that came into the camp between the two loops and along the main road up into the hills. The river was way down exposing a rocky beach and mud. A dog went out and could almost cross to the island walking. Lots of ducks, geese and carp. It is probably best first fishing but not swimming. The sites have electric but no sewer. There is an RV dump onsite. The Brownlee loop is greener with mature trees with lots of shade. The Catfish loop is much dryer with a single tree at each site. It is closer to water views though. There are three free showers not much larger than a bathroom stall that seemed to compete for hot water off the huge propane heating system. Didn’t experience mosquitoes but lots of moths. Wear solid sole shoes and pick out the goat heads before getting into your camper. My flip flops were filled with them walking across the grass.

Renegade 38ft with Jeep. Early August stay. Temps high 80s. Very pretty park with lots of shrubbery & trees. Unfortunately, looks like the area is in a drought but the Park is watered everywhere, daily. Park seems underutilized. Lots of one-nighters. Very quiet park. There's a TA less than a mile away on the Interstate.Site 66B - 50A & water. Asphalt but pretty unlevel. (See photos). Used to boondocking unlevel so we carry extra but after using all the blocks, we were still 1.0 degrees off. But it worked ok. Other sites in the loop look more level. Friendly staff. No AT&T but Starlink was 150mb.Ontario, OR is 22 miles away off the Interstate. Walmart, Albertsons, etc for restocking. We really enjoyed the quiet here. Hidden gem.Keep in mind the park charges for an extra vehicle, like a towed vehicle. We camped at Farewell Bend State Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We stayed the First week in July and enjoyed our time. My husband caught lots of fish. Which they had a great fish cleaning station for that. Bathrooms and showers were clean and in working order. I just want to let you all know that the camp sites by the Indian burial grounds are the most peaceful and enjoyable sites. We will continue to go back again and again.

Super nice campground at this state recreation area! It’s right on the Snake River (don’t select A loop which is far from the river and close to the interstate). Ranger Ida came around since we switched our site but couldn’t get reception to change online. She was very friendly and knowledgable. Now we know there is better connection at the dump station! Anyways we took a walk to the river and saw a baby rattlesnake eating a mouse which was cool! Unfortunately we didn’t see or hear the coyotes. The stars were amazing!

Great place to reminisce, or learn area history. Information is provided on many different cultures. This was thought provoking and stirred many conversations in my group. The garden was a memorable experience. The horticulturalist should be proud of providing this area for our enjoyment.

We visited this wonderful museum while we were in the area for a graduation. I'm glad that we did! The entry fee is well worth it. A great, informational video starts the tour. There is a lot of historical information. The exhibits are fantastic. The Japanese Gardens are worth the donation and the views. I will definitely return if we're back in the area. -Regina

This is my second time I've been here, since 2012 nothing has changed. The exhibits gives you a chronological story from the Native Americans, to the miners, and shepherd's; and farmers how they worked hard to transform the desert land into an agricultural land. It also shows you the sad side of how we misplaced the Japanese citizens during WWII. At the end of the exhibit you learn how the emigrants introduced diversity into America with their culture. 🇦🇹🇨🇿🇧🇪🇬🇧🇩🇪🇲🇭.

Had a great time today at the museum and Japanese garden. Lots of neat things to look at and a variety of different cultures represented.

Lake Owyhee State Park

1,090 wildlife-filled acres for camping, fishing & boating on a lake, with showers & toilets.
This place is so beautiful! Not aa many people as I expected. I will be coming here often. Would like to rent one the cabins some day.

We have camped here a couple of times and really like it here. The campground is clean and the showers are warm. The flies can be a bit voracious at certain times so bring fly paper. The hosts are very nice and try very hard to keep the grass green even when it is 100° out. The lake is warm in the summer and not too busy since most boaters are just fishermen. The fishing seems to be pretty good. There aren't a lot of beaches but there is a Rocky Beach at the campground to set up shade to hang out during the day. We also anchored our boats off the shore and no one bothered them the whole week. The wind usually picks up in the late afternoon but it's not too bad.
Theresa H — Google review
What can't I say. Scary drive in for someone afraid of heights or driving off the road, but if you're not driving, close your eyes because the Park is great! I love it here. It is boating and fishing and swimming paradise. If your not into water related sports, it's probably not for you. There are no real hiking trails out of the park itself but quite a few around the Succor Creek area and Leslie Gulch. The park personal are great and very helpful. The pit toilets are clean. Yes we did have an encounter with a rattlesnake but not in camp. We found one while out boating and exploring. It didn't want anything to do with us. One bad thing is there was a fair amount of dog poo on the beach. Come on people clean up after your dogs.

Loved McCormick Campground at Lk. Owyhee! Late Sept. stay; only a few sites taken. FANTASTIC Ranger staff accommodated our switch to a more scenic site with smiles and offered useful site and local information. WiFi range limited, best near site 16, info board has password. Super clean bathrooms! Watch out for the little "goat's-head" thorns on the grasses - will pop bike tires and bare feet. NO mosquitos but LOTS of flies around any warm/hot surface; bring bug spray & set chairs in shade. Water was comfortable - almost warm! Great for paddle boarding; very little boat traffic/wakes. Hot spring pools just 30 min away. Power & water at all RV sites. Well worth the 7-hour tow of the camper - we WILL be back!!

Amazing views. Wish we'd had a boat. Neighbors gave us a tour on the lake. Saw wild horses and numerous interesting geological formations. PS The road in is very narrow along the cliff. Not for the faint of heart.

The drive up to the park was breathtaking! The layered colors of rocks and the many cave openings too! Once we arrived at the park a chukker up on the hill was a real treat to see and hear.

100% amazing. The picnic areas are clean and fun. Perfect for skipping rocks and paddleboarding. I'd heard rumors of rattlesnakes, but we never saw one. Very quiet, almost nobody else there. Long, narrow drive to the picnic areas - go slow and be nice to the cars passing the other way. Enjoy!

We love coming here, the kids always have a blast feeding the animals and loving on the kangaroos and goats. They have done an awesome job upgrading several of the exhibits especially in the barn. They have a nice shaded play area for the kids to play at and look like they will be adding a really fun new play area soon ! Great way to spend a few hours.
Krista H — Google review
10/10, so much fun! Enclosures are clean and animals are healthy and seem very content! Plus animals are social! The camel came over when we called him, many animals love the attention, even the ones you can’t feed. I feel like that says a lot about their care when the animals actually like people. I struggle a lot with animals in captivity, but this place just had a different feel. Happy animals make me happy. I’m adding Babby Farms to my list of places to bring friends and family when they come to visit and you should too! I can’t wait to impress my niece with the experience of PETTING a kangaroo. We went on a hot day and it was a struggle in the outdoor enclosure. Make sure to bring a hat and lots of water. Can’t decide if my favorite was those adorable otters, the super alert fruit bats flying around or Mario the Spider Monkey. Oh my word he was special. That monkey had us all falling head over heels for him.

A great place for birthdays and large groups! We had my sons 2nd birthday there and they were amazing! Super helpful and let us rent 4 picnic tables for the day. Love that kids are free under 3 and the facility was clean, friendly staff, and a wide variety of animals. We loved that you can go into the pen with the kangaroos and pet them and you can do that with the goats as well. We all thought this was better than the Boise Zoo! We will definitely be back.
Caitlyn C — Google review
This place is great! Had family in town visiting we decided to check out babby farms. Glad we did! it was great everyone from the 2 year old to the 70 year old enjoyed it. The animals all seem well taken care of, they also all wanted to be loved on, this will be a regular stop when our family visits. We will probably come a few more times this summer. Lots of different types animals.

We've visited Babby Farms many times in the last few years. The recent renovations/expansions are fantastic and the upcoming plans look great as well. They have a good variety of animals, most of which I understand are rescues. This is a special place for the kiddos in our life and they especially love being able to hand-feed the hooved animals. The animals are so cute, I think people of all ages will really enjoy visiting.
Heather J — Google review
We hosted my daughter’s 7th birthday party here! Texas, the Zookeeper/manager reserved the entire picnic area and didn’t charge us a dime! We were allowed to bring our own food and decorations. Our kids and parents loved it. So clean and interactive and you can tell the animals are well cared for and loved. Thank you for making my daughter’s birthday incredibly memorable!
Michelle T — Google review
This place is cheaper than the Boise zoo. Unlike the Boise zoo, you can interact with most of the animals here, and you can feed them. Great for kids!
Barrett L — Google review
We had such a wonderful experience at this  zoo! It was my first time ever getting to touch a kangaroo, and it was truly unforgettable. The place is so welcoming, peaceful, and family-friendly — perfect for making special memories together. The staff are kind and helpful, and you can feel how much they care about the animals. Such a great spot for families of all ages to enjoy and learn.

I really enjoy this atmosphere, I went last year with an out of state friend and have since recommended it to my parents for their anniversary and just left from another tasting to celebrate mother's day. The property is beautiful and the ice wines are my favorite, such a relaxing place to sit and enjoy company.

Koenig Vineyards deserves a solid five stars for creating a truly stunning tasting experience. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the modern and beautiful tasting room. The entire facility has a wonderful, elegant design. Combined with its spectacular view and wonderful location, this vineyard offers an incredible atmosphere for enjoying wine. And of course, the wines were all good, with several choices for our different palates. A definite must-visit!

Going K — Google review
We had family visiting from our of state that enjoy wine so we wanted to bring them to a winery in idaho. A friend recommended us "the one with the tower." So we found Koenig. The tasting was a great price and all the wines were great! The staff was very knowledgeable too. The location is gorgeous! The architecture is pleasant and the stone porch area in front of the entrance is beautifull and a wonderful place to have lunch if you bring one, as long as it isn't too cold and windy like it was when we went. The tower structure has a breathtaking view overlooking the vineyards. If you frame the camera just right it literally looks like a painting! There's a nice lawn area on the right side of the building with more seating areas and tables and a cool, large chess board! They have a spirits distillery too, which wasn't open at the time we went, not until a month from our visit. Overall we had lovely experience, tasted great wine, bought some wine and spirits, and had good company. We're so glad we chose Koenig.

Bre was a great server at Koenig! She is very knowledgeable and very attentive. The wines are fantastic. Second time around as a club member. The 2021 Estate blend and 2021 Petite Syrah are very very good.

This was recommended by a good friend that appreciates good wine. The interesting point - this is both a winery and a distillery. We went for the wine tasting but will be back to sample the distilled spirits. The wine, in general, was good and very good. We especially liked one white and one red. We bought a case of the red and a few bottles of the white. The venue is very tasteful, and a great spot for an afternoon brunch.

We came in a little late, but Ann was very accommodating to us. Out of 3, we each enjoyed a different flight and had the Gourmet cheese board. Delicious food & wines. Love the option with a bottle of brut and different juices. Gorgeous views & atmosphere.

Loved our visit to Sawtooth and it was as great as it was the first visit. Matthew was so sweet and patient with us which made us feel welcome. We enjoyed our dip with chips along with a beautiful charcuterie board. The wine matched the treats. Matthew even treated our grandchild to fish crackers, how thoughtful. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful scenery, very comfortable atmosphere, and pleasant staff. Stopped in to try the mimosa flight. We really enjoyed 2 of them but weren’t really fans of the Gatorade mimosa. Tried the onion dip and really enjoyed that! They had goat yoga that morning and one of the baby goats was still there when we arrived. Super cute to see it wandering around with its little people. 🥰.

We had such a wonderful experience at the winery thanks to our server Liz! From the moment we arrived, they were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable about all the wines. They took the time to explain each tasting in a way that was both fun and informative, and their recommendations were spot on. They made us feel so welcome, checked in just the right amount, and made the whole experience feel extra special. It’s clear they genuinely enjoy what they do, and it really elevated our visit. Highly recommend asking for her if you stop by! 🍷✨

We're so glad we found this amazing winery that's only six miles from home. When we first started coming to the winery it was in the little house that now the Airbnb. We love it so much we bring almost everyone who visits with us here for wine tasting and a meal. The wines excellent, the food fabulous and the atmosphere is welcoming. You won't have a better experience at any winery, and I've been to a lot. Go try it out, you won't be disappointed.

The view was amazing! Food was great, service was good, but we waited for quite a while for our food, utensils, ranch, and refills. The waitress apologized for the wait for our food, but nothing was done to compensate, where she offered the table next to us a free dessert, we simply had to do. May go back, but will try on a weekend that may not be as busy.

We came in with friends last week and are so glad to have found this winery. They have a nice selection of estate grown wines. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Lilly lead our tasting and answered all our questions about the property and their wines. The restaurant portion felt unique for a winery and the menu was well thought out. We showed up on a day with live music on the patio. This winery checks all the boxes; cool location, smart staff, good wine, and enjoyable setting. We'll definitely be back

One of the most incredible “Estate Wineries” I’ve ever had the pleasure of frequenting. Not only the best wines in Idaho, but their full service kitchen rates amount the best in the Treasure Valley. We are there on a regular basis. Staff is amazing and the owners put on some amazing events.
Chris G — Google review
Food selection better than it was a year ago. And the price for a burger and fries has DROPPED. Yes it's now $18 for the burger and only $1 for the fries. A year ago it was $24 for the combo. Now all they have to do is to allow more than one refill on the tea. Ok I'm not into wine and they do have the best selection of food at any winery that I know of. The ambience is great and they have even added some very nice shade umbrellas on their patio. I can now recommend them and would even go there more often than I expected based on previous visits.
Paul I — Google review
One of my favorite wineries in the Treasure Valley. I’ve been coming here for seven years now and recently hosted a large event in the barrel room (and another in May!). The food is amazing and the staff is always so helpful. I suggest visiting for food and ambiance, not just the incredible wine!
Brooke H — Google review
This place is beautiful but had poor service. No refills were provided and the staff did not come up to tables often. Furthermore, we ordered dessert and by the time we came back to the table there were flies all over the cake. When we asked for one of the desserts to be replaced we were told “this is the last piece. But there are no visible issues with the cake so it should be fine”. We were not offered any alternative or anything to make the matter better. Lastly, the drive does include about 20 minutes of a dirt road at the end.

Warhawk Air Museum

History museum
Specialty Museums
Planes & flying memorabilia from WWI to the jet era are on display at this aviation museum.
I’m originally from Afghanistan, but I currently live in Dallas, Texas. I recently traveled to Idaho, where a friend of mine — who lives in Orofino, about five hours from Nampa — came to meet us. He invited us to visit the Warhawk Air Museum, and I must say, it was an absolutely amazing experience 🤩. One moment that really stood out for me was seeing flags from many different countries on display — but unfortunately, not Afghanistan’s. That made me feel a little sad. However, at that very moment, my friend found and gifted me an Afghan military hat. That small gesture meant a lot to me, and I was truly happy to see something representing my country there. The Warhawk Museum is truly admirable. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. One of the employees took time to patiently answer all our questions and guided us throughout the visit with a warm attitude. I sincerely hope that the management of this museum recognizes and appreciates such dedicated and respectful staff members. Many thanks to the administration for creating such a memorable experience 🌟

We went to the Warhawk Air Museum as a part of our trip to utah, and man it was so fun! They have scavenger hunts for kids (they look for certain artifacts) that can gain them a price, and are relatively easy. They also have a bunch of retired veterans everywhere, so if you ever need help, they were there. I do admit though, some of them acted like our personal guides, which we appreciated but it made it very hard to have a thought on anything we were seeing because he was going so fast. Most of the photos were from the Japan section, but there are so many stories behind every artifact! There are basically 3 parts to the museum, front, middle, and back/out door. Or that’s at least as far as we explored. There were NO BATHROOMS that we saw, so be prepared. Museum was an over all awesome experience!

Great museum! Obviously they have a ton of different airplanes, but they also have hundreds of items in display cases with a lot of information. It stretches from WWI through to 9/11 and the Global War on Terror. There is a small gift shop as well and just past the entry they have a long line of binders with biographical information on different veterans. Definitely worth visiting, they have three different sections covering various periods and according to the staff all the aircraft are air certified and can fly.

We went on Saturday the 1st for the Veterans Breakfast. We had Maverick and Goose with us. Both in there flight suits and Goose in his airplane. They do a wonderful job putting on a pancake breakfast with eggs, sausage and hashbrowns. Juice and coffee too. I even saw a couple of people I knew. It's really fun to walk through the museum to get to the breakfast. We walked through a different part on the way out. The kiddos love the airplanes.

I've been rafting with Cascade Raft & Kayak for many years, both for personal trips and business team-building—and they never disappoint! I go a few times each year, and every trip is a highlight. This time, our guide was Riley, and she was absolutely amazing. Professional, fun, and full of great energy—she made the experience even more memorable. I'm already looking forward to coming back next month! Cascade offers more than just rafting. The space itself is beautiful and relaxing. After your trip, there’s no pressure to rush off—you can lounge by the river, find a shady spot at a table, or enjoy some food and drinks. They’ve thought of everything: a gift shop, changing stations, free lockers, and fun trip photos. Every visit is smooth, safe, and full of adventure. Highly recommend!

We had a great time on the half day rafting trip! Our guide Bella was awesome, lots of personality and skilled in rafting! The check in process was quick and they have plenty of smart lockers for you to set your own password to use for any personal items. You can also store car keys at the front desk with the staff inside. They have changing rooms, bathrooms, and items you can buy in the store like sandals if you need and chums sunglasses straps. We had lunch from their cafe that had breakfast burritos and sandwiches. You can get chips and salsa, carrots and hummus, or pasta salad for a side. Turkey, roast beef, or ham sandwiches. The lunch will get you by if you aren't able to bring your own snacks. There is plenty of parking and it's not a bad drive out there. The rapids were not terribly difficult but were a lot of fun and good for various skill levels for the section of river we did. The guides give a lot of opportunity for sitting on the front of the raft or getting out and swimming in calm areas.

Easily one of the most fun things I've ever done. Our guide Eva was awesome! This is definitely something we will do at least once every year. The whole team and operation is just a good time. They are silly, sarcastic, knowledgeable and really want you to enjoy it out there as much as it seems like they do.

What an incredible adventure! We did the ½ day “Rush” on the Lower South Fork of Payette River and it was an absolute blast!! Our guide, Sam R, was amazing - fun, entertaining, super knowledgeable, and made everyone feel safe the whole time. The company is professional, experienced, and runs everything smoothly (and on time!). We had both first-timers and experienced rafters in our group, and everyone had an amazing time. If you’re looking for excitement, laughs, and unforgettable memories on the river—Cascade Raft & Kayak is the way to go!

Such a great experience, and all the staff was awesome! My wife and I took our 10 and 6 year old daughters on the half day trip, and we all had a blast! Our guide Emmaline (sorry if I got the spelling wrong) was super nice and knowledgeable, and great with the kids. We will definitely be back for a full day trip in the future!
Daniel K — Google review
Merle was a very fun and knowledgeable guide! He initiated splash fights with the other rafts in our party, was able to tell our younger ones when it was safe to take a dip in the river, hitched a carabiner with a rope to the nose and the kids were allowed to "ride the bull" through some of the less intense rapids! This is a fun family event, we took kids ages 9 through 68 and we all enjoyed it! The attention to safety is strong before you ever hit the water, but delivered in a memorable and entertaining way, so you don't even realize it's a safety presentation. We had a different guide last year and equally enjoyed the Half-day Main Payette experience!

Cleo's Ferry Museum & Nature Trail

Points of Interest & Landmarks
We love the Cleo's nature trail and go there usually every year. It is well maintained and pretty. We appreciate the Christian inspirational phrases and references. The Empty Tomb is very cool. This is one of those places you really don't want to share with everyone but I suppose as a business, it's only fair to give it the good review it deserves so they can get the support of the community and visitors.

Great place to go and see some neat stuff!! It's by donation, has food machines for a quarter to feed the peacocks, ( just make sure the peacocks aren't near you when you get the food out of the machine). It's very relaxing and peaceful. Kids love it!! Neat history too. Each birdhouse in this park has a saying with it. Good learning experience for young and old alike!! Definitely worth the trip. You're also right next to the Snake River!!

Amazing place to visit anytime. I have been a few times and will return. I love it!

I love this place, the paths are well kept, they have peacocks roaming the whole property, there is always something new to see that you did not see the last time you visited. It's peaceful and just a very positive place to bring the family. The buildings on site are beautifully built. You can tell a lot of love and thought has been put into the whole property.

The grounds are well kept, the spring cleaning was being done and the family friendly, great atmosphere. Easy walk, light hike option, small prayer chapel, great views!

Idaho State Capitol

Sights & Landmarks
The Idaho State Capitol, a grand neoclassical statehouse built in 1914, is a historic landmark in Boise. Managed by the Capitol Curation Program, it houses over 1,000 artifacts and historic furnishings related to Idaho's history. The building's architecture emphasizes natural light and resembles the US Capitol. Visitors can explore its public galleries and gift shop or take a tour to learn about Idaho's rich history through art and exhibits.
WOW. Sorry I have not been here before. This massive building with all the marble floors, walls, pillars is just stunning. And the wood work that was hand crafted which was beautiful. And all of the posters and history throughout the building telling the history of Idaho. From the Indian significance of what they have been an integral part of our history to the Lewis and Clark traveling throughout Idaho. The grounds are such a beautiful mix of lush greenery to the plants and the many hedges of roses.
Timothy B — Google review
The Idaho State Capitol carries an elegance that never fades. The marble staircases, tall columns, and streams of natural light create a setting that feels both grand and intimate. Photographing portraits and engagement sessions here is always inspiring—the space itself adds depth and meaning to each moment without overpowering it. It’s a place that feels timeless, and one I love returning to again and again.
Jenesis P — Google review
The Boise Capitol Building is such a classic and timeless spot for photos. Between the marble columns, grand steps, and soft light, it gives every portrait a touch of elegance. Whether it’s engagement, bridal, or graduation photos — it’s always a favorite backdrop downtown.

What a wonderful State Capitol. We have our 50 State Capitol challenge. This is number 39! It’s open 7 days per week and we arrived before sunrise and had a wonderful tour. Lots to explore. Out of session times (Jan-March) one needs a guided tour to see the House and Senate Chambers. Love to see the replica Liberty Bell on display at the foot of the steps.
Mind T — Google review
The Idaho State Capitol is one of my absolute favorite spots in Boise for elopements, bridal sessions, and editorial shoots. There’s something so timeless about the clean marble architecture and soft window light. It makes every moment feel elevated and romantic without needing much else. I’ve photographed everything from intimate "just-us" elopements to European-inspired bridal editorials in this space, and each time I’m amazed at the variety it offers. The light shifts gently throughout the day, wrapping couples in warmth during afternoon portraits and creating jaw-dropping editorial shadows by early evening. The backdrop is stately and refined, yet somehow still playful, perfect for capturing both quiet glances and bold, creative moments. If you want your images to feel both timeless and artistic, this is the place. It’s iconic Boise, but it also feels like you’ve been whisked away to Europe for the afternoon. And best of all? No permits. No stress. Just show up and make magic.
Katy P — Google review
Awesome interior. Notice the compass rose on the main level and one floor below. Look up to the top of the rotunda and see how the night sky could look from this location. Oriented north south, with the House to the east and the Senate to the west. Go up to the 4th floor and check out the displays on that floor. Make sure to go to the gift shop floor, there you will see the history of Idaho and some of what makes it the great state it is today!
Sean B — Google review
Beautiful building with extremely rich local history. I love how accessible it is to the public
Isaac F — Google review
The Idaho State Capitol is a stunning and well-preserved piece of history right in the heart of Boise. The architecture is impressive inside and out, and the building is open to the public for self-guided tours. It’s a great spot to learn about Idaho’s government and history, and the marble interior is truly beautiful. A must-visit for anyone exploring downtown Boise.

Nestled in the picturesque Julia Davis Park, Zoo Boise is a beloved attraction in Southern Idaho. This living science facility houses over 200 animals from 83 different species and offers diverse exhibits such as an African boat ride, kids' farm, and butterfly area. Supported by the Friends of Zoo Boise, the zoo aims to engage visitors in wildlife conservation through education programs and special events.
Visited Zoo Boise just yesterday and had such a fantastic time! The zoo is incredibly clean and well maintained—every path and exhibit looked spotless, and you can really see how much care goes into everything. I was impressed by how much space the animals have; it feels like a comfortable home for them, which isn’t something you see at every zoo. The new red panda exhibit was a huge highlight! It was so much fun to watch them climbing and exploring—I could have stayed there all afternoon. I also made sure to stop by and see the tiger, who’s always been my favorite. Seeing him up close was amazing, as always. I love the interactive activities here too—feeding the giraffes is a must, and the little boat ride offers a fun break from walking. There are plenty of concession stands for snacks, and the layout makes it easy to find your way around. Zoo Boise just keeps getting better, and I’m super excited for their next expansion. Highly recommend for a fun and memorable day out!
Nick F — Google review
I've been to a few zoos in my time and I've never seen the red pandas as active as they were at the Boise Zoo. They were eating, they were walking up and down a sky bridge, they were romping. The zoo is in the process of adding additional animals, so some construction, but nothing invasive. Aside from one sleepy fox, all their animals seemed very active. The zoo is clean and easy to navigate and reasonable in cost. I also went on a warm day and it seemed laid out well to provide shade and relief from the sun. Would recommend.
Surls M — Google review
Well I never went to the zoo I went to Art in the park I don't know if that's its official Title, but there was a ton of very unique booths, something for everone, No Junk. It was well worth my time but the zoo I have been there before and the zoo is really nice it's small but it's well done the kids enjoy it. there's usually not a wait, today was half price! there's other things to do in walking distance. There's the Discovery Center for kids, The Boise Art museum. The Rose gardens. If you get too hot if you get on the green belt and there's a path of long trees and you don't see anything else the river's just on the other side of the trees literally
Nancy R — Google review
This is our second visit and I can honestly say, we love it. Yes, a lot of the enclosures were not occupied and there is a lot of construction but I can see where they are taking it and I’m excited. Today, while we didn’t get to see a ton of animals, the ones we did see actually “interacted” with us. We got to feed some giraffe and have a great day!
Serenna L — Google review
While this zoo is not as big as the Portland Zoo in Oregon or the Woodland Zoo in Seattle, it packs a big bunch in variety and kid friendliness. The red panda exhibit was so cool and they were very active. My 9yo and 1yo had so much fun. The farm animal petting zoo section was a great end to the experience as well. Next time we are in Boise we will be sure to come back.
Mr. R — Google review
You can tell the animals are well-cared for. They are active and appear healthy. The zoo is much larger than you would expect, there's a lot of development to improve each of the animals paddock. The family loved the zoo, this is a must see for anyone that loves animals.
Lucas S — Google review
For a small zoo it's very cute. The Red Panda enclosure was so awesome. There was plenty of staff around to ask questions. We are excited to see what they will bring with the new construction. My only issue was the windows aren't very clear in many enclosures so it was hard to see some of the animals.
D — Google review
I was so disappointed in my visit here. None of the animals were out all the Exhibits were closed or moved or under construction. I think maybe we saw seven animals in a n hour. This zoo needs some grants some donations something to make them worth going to. I was so disappointed I wanted to ask for a refund for my time there.

Discover the wonders of The Peregrine Fund's World Center for Birds of Prey, an indoor/outdoor facility dedicated to the conservation and research of raptors. The center houses live falcons, eagles, vultures, hawks, and owls while also serving as a research hub focused on understanding the health, reproduction, and general biology of these magnificent birds.
Terrific experience. Big birds (and some little ones) in well-constructed habitats are kept happy by people who care. The programs consist of watching a bird jump around you and fly low over your head while being educated by an expert passionate about their friends. The animals are residents, and the staff all affectionately call them by their names. I happened upon this place through my work as a school bus driver driving a class of kids here, and the staff happily welcomed me to explore the facility, which was delightfully entertaining and educational. My day is made, and I'll be back with friends for sure.
Jack F — Google review
Really neat place! We really enjoyed the education program and getting to see so many birds up close. The volunteers and staff were very friendly and had lots of info to share. The history of the Peregrine Fund was inspirational to learn about and it's nice to know that so many people are passionate about protecting our native species. Seeing such beautiful wildlife up close was a rare & beautiful experience. The gift shop was also full of great souvenirs!

What a great show! We went for Fall Flight and thoroughly enjoyed it. The guides give the history and status of the birds of prey, such as the California Condor, along with the flights. It was a really hot day, and Rachel (a guide) had to go chasing after one of the birds. She stayed chipper and upbeat, even as she had to be sweltering! Well worth the trip.
R O — Google review
This place is awesome for learning about birds of prey. There's something for everyone irrespective of their age. We also attended the scheduled show, which I would highly recommend. It was amazing to get a glimpse at these birds and how they hunt up close and personal. They also talked about the cool research projects they have worked on to help these beautiful birds
Nishant S — Google review
This place is fantastic. The staff are all super knowledgeable and very friendly. We learned so much and had numerous up close encounters with various birds of prey. I love that they are helping so many species here. Make sure that you are there for one of their shows where they bring out some of the birds. This was one of the highlights of our road trip.
J. C — Google review
Wonderful experience. We went to the flight show and it was so well done, and the birds were so fascinating! The ladies who ran the show really have it down and know their stuff. Anything you buy at the gift shop goes directly to the organization/foundation for the birds and further research. I highly recommend attending at least once!

This was our visit to the Peregrine Fund’s Birds of Prey. It was very cool to see these beautiful birds up close. The red tail hawk was pretty tame for such a large raptor. We really enjoyed seeing the Condors flying around (huge prehistoric looking creatures). We had no idea that Boise was home to the #1 birds of prey center in the world with such an amazing library of archives dating back hundreds of years! If you get a few hours to go up and see it, take the time… you’ll be glad you did.

This place is absolutely wonderful! Its perfect for families or just anyone. Its clean, inexpensive, fantastic views, and very informative. I always take guests here when they visit from out of town. The staff is super friendly. A must see is the Fall Flights show during certain times of the year. Well worth a visit.

The Boise River Greenbelt is a stunning 25-mile trail that weaves through the heart of Boise, connecting various parks and recreational areas while offering breathtaking riverside views. This multiuse path invites everyone to enjoy its beauty, whether you're cycling, jogging, or simply taking a leisurely stroll. With an impressive average of 234 sunny days each year, it's no wonder that locals and visitors alike flock to this vibrant space for outdoor activities.
Was cruising along the river on a Lime scooter and next thing I know found myself in the Greenbelt staring at a giraffe. Then it took me over a gorgeous river and through the Boise State Campus. Boise is lucky to have such a beautiful gem and it seems like they truly cherish it. A tourist visit to Boise without quality time along the river greenbelt isn’t a true visit.

Taking my kiddos to the Boise Greenbelt is a great way to spend a beautiful day in the treasure Valley. I’d highly recommend it for anybody who wants cool little nature walks along the Boise river.

25 mile, mostly paved, greenbelt trail following the Boise River. Absolutely gorgeous and green, with pathways lined with lush trees! Kid and dog-friendly with so much to do. The trail provides access to so many different parks, museums, Zoo Boise, Warm Springs Gold Course, Boise State University, and even a food truck park! The river is also available for fishing and tubing. The trail is littered with electronic scooters available for rent (via a mobile App). I used one and it was a blast, but it does become a bit of an eyesore when there are so many lying around.
RescueK9s — Google review
Beautiful paved bike trail. Passed bicyclists, scooters, and people walking. Biked from the Zoo to past Garden City. Trail ended on the east side of the river. Might be better to ride on the west side of the river. Will definitely be back and rent electric bikes and do all of the trail.
Rara B — Google review
Such a lush vegetated place to walk or ride your bike. I walked the entire path then rode an electric scooter back to my car. The Spin app is so affordable and I got back very quick.
Cody C — Google review
I stayed at the Park Center Marriott and walked the Green Belt on my visit twice, once w a friend who brought her dog. We entered through the parking lot by the Refuge at Park Center. The path was paved for probably a mile and then was a dirt path but well maintained. There were lots of people walking dogs. You could walk down in the river bed in many spots to take photos. We saw tons of hawks, geese, and my friend saw a bald eagle. Apparently it’s a great spot for bird watchers who know other birds. People were very friendly and dogs were most on leashes and had good recall. You’d want boots on the dirt path this time of year as it had icy spots and was a little muddy but not bad. There were garbage cans along the path and people kept the area pretty free of trash.
Marty W — Google review
Simply an amazing bike and walking path along the fast running (9 May 2023) Boise River. Highly recommend.

We did the green belt from the stadium to Eagle. It is the prettiest stretch of the system. We saw owls, deer, beaver marks, and of course goslings. Beautiful riding.

Old Idaho Penitentiary Site

History museum
Sights & Landmarks
The Old Idaho Penitentiary Site, located in Boise, is a historic prison complex that operated from 1872 to 1973. It features over 30 buildings and offers self-guided walking tours and special exhibitions. The site has a dark history, having housed notorious inmates such as Harry Orchard and Lyda Southard. With at least 110 recorded deaths within its walls, the prison was eventually closed in 1973 due to riots that caused significant damage.
Luckily, I found a podcast a few months ago with stories of inmates from this Penitentiary. After binging episodes, I knew I needed to visit. I drove with my family from Utah to make an entire to out of Boise, a place I'd never been before. Secretly, I just wanted to visit this site. Having visited both Alcatraz and Eastern Penitentiary before, this place is more personal. It has a certain atmosphere of reverence while maintaining the history. I'm sure my family was overwhelmed by the stories I told (thanks to the podcast). The smaller size certainly helped you feel the family each inmate felt from other inmates. Stories of inmates were posted everywhere as a reminder of the souls who filled the walls, not just a place of lock up and punishments. My only regret is not paying for the tour. I wanted to do it at my own pace, yet I'm sure they would have accommodated or I could walk through alone again. I encourage everyone to make the pilgrimage to this place. Who knows how long before it crumbles away.
Justin H — Google review
It was worth the negligible amount of money to tour. A couple of things that I found interesting was the number of inmates that had 'must relocate to California as a condition of their parole' the first time I saw it I thought 'thats interesting...' the 3rd time I thought 'wait a minute ' lol. Check it out, its worth seeing the gallows where they hung the death row inmates. They have a gift shop and I thought that it would be interesting to be arrested for stealing from the Idaho State Penitentiary gift shop but I didn't do it
Brenda K — Google review
What a great sad place to see history, in a since. I could feel the energy the prison had. The peeling paint, beds, the doors all felt very cold. They had tours if you wanted to do that,a small gift shop. Admission was pretty good. I recommend going to see it.
Estelle M — Google review
The Old Idaho Penitentiary is a fascinating and very well-preserved historic site that’s absolutely worth visiting! Walking through the old cell blocks, solitary confinement rooms, and the guard towers gives you a real sense of what life must have been like back in the day. The exhibits are detailed and informative, covering both the prison’s history and the stories of some of its inmates. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions, which makes the visit even more engaging. It’s a perfect stop for anyone interested in history, architecture, or something a bit different from the usual tourist attractions. Plan about 1–2 hours for your visit — and don’t forget your camera, the old stone buildings make for great photos!
Josef A — Google review
We had a pretty big group and got a guided tour and we were so glad we did. Leslie was our guide and she was amazing very energetic and so informative especially with the kids in our group asking questions. Would highly recommend coming and having her be your guide. Also the prison is awesome, definitely need to go see it at least once.
Rikki L — Google review
This is very interesting and, frankly, creepy and beautiful at the same time. This prison was built in 1870 and it's one of only four territorial prisons open to the public today. Certainly worth a visit. There are many buildings you can go into and some you can only peer into. It was in operation for 101 years and during that time there were escapes, scandals and the transition from Boise's "wild west" to a modern capital city. The prison closed because it was falling apart and conditions for prisoners were cramped and dangerous. Amidst the ruins there are gardens. One can tour old cell blocks, learn about notable inmates, see where some people were kept in solitary confinement or on death row and where they were hung. There are guided tours for an additional fee. Most of the site is handicapped accessible. Some upstairs areas are open to the public but are only accessible via stairs. Visual aids are available for guests unable to access these areas. There are restrooms and a gift shop on site. An admission fee is charged. One may also buy a combo ticket that includes the Idaho Botanical Garden next door which was built on former penitentiary grounds. Parking is free on site.
Daffodil M — Google review
Really neat experience! I took my kids age 8 and 9 (self guided tour) and they really enjoyed it although it probably put a little fear of breaking the law into them too 🤣 💅. The employees were really great and friendly. Enthusiastic to share information even if your not in a tour group. Cheap family outing, I can't believe I haven't gone sooner! Last check in is 4, closes at 5. I can see why it closes before dark lol CREEPY even in the daytime! We arrived at 4 and were able to do it in an hr, but we did cut it close, so depending on how much time you want to spend in the weapons room and cell blocks you may add a bit of time to that.

The Springs

Day spa
Nature & Parks
Day spa featuring natural hot spring pools, a steam room, massages & a cafe serving light fare.
The staff is very pleasant and the locker rooms are clean. They don't let too many people in the main pool so you always have plenty of space. I've been twice this past winter and really enjoyed both trips. I was able to bring my 8-year-old daughter on the weekend and she loved it as well. Their Italian sodas are some of the best I've had anywhere and their cocktails are well prepared.

Relaxing getaway just outside Boise! The Springs in Idaho City is the perfect spot for a peaceful evening soak and an easy drive from Boise. The facility is beautiful, spotless, and well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and welcoming from the moment you arrive. The main soaking pool is huge with lots of space to float, relax, and unwind. The private tub experience was totally worth the extra money for an hour of quiet relaxation. It’s clean, cozy, and feels like your own personal spa. No outside food or drinks are allowed, so plan to spend a little extra on-site. The pretzel and beer were our go-to and didn’t disappoint. Prices are on the higher side, but the clean, beautiful, and relaxing atmosphere makes it worth it. We’ll definitely be back!

Very nice, relaxing soak in pools or hot tub. The dressing room could be bigger. We were a large group of 30 people, mostly women. The showers are nice with shampoo, conditioner and body was included, on the wall and a bench to sit in, if needed. You can order light snacks or drinks poolside, including alcohol, if you so desire. They take your credit card to keep on file while you're there then you payout when leaving. A lovely trip. Their hotel/cabins are up the road a ways.

I wish this place was closer so I could go more often. I've been a handful of times and it never fails to completely relax my body and gives me the best night sleep afterwards. Great for romantic evening or for a group get together.

I used the hot springs, it was very relaxing, water temperature was perfect. There is 1 hot tub hotter than the main pool, that was great. We paid 62 dollars for 2 of us. Over all, it was a great experience. Outdoor weather was nice and chilly for hot springs enjoyment. Staff were friendly
Michael C — Google review
This may have been the worst customer service ever given to me. My husband and I called last week because we have tokens. We were told over the phone that we could still use those tokens, even for a private tub. My husband booked a private tub, and we get there and they said we couldn’t use the tokens for the private tub but could use them for the large pool. We then tell them we were told we could use them. The ladies working at the reception tell us we can pay for the private tub and then use the tokens to soak more in the large pool afterwards. We said that we would like to use our tokens for the private pool due to being told that over the phone, they then tell us if we want to use the tokens for the big pool we can but we have to still pay for the private pool because of their cancellation policy. They end up letting us cancel the private pool and just go into the large one. So there was that but only after going back and forth and being met with rude, short responses. I understand mis communication happens sometimes, but the way they handled it was unprofessional. So we just go soak in the large pool, we ordered some snacks and then less than an hour later we are told we have to go because the time is up. They never told us the soak time we were entering was almost over. If we had known we would have waited till the next time slot. Even through expressing our concern we were met with short, vague responses and no real effort from either of these employees to correct the mistake on their end. We did get our tokens back, only from asking for them and being more firm about our experience. Completely disappointing experience and I do not recommend going here if you wanna pay outrageous prices, that don’t match the quality of service. Go take a hike and find a natural hot springs, better views and you will have a much better time.
Caitlyn W — Google review
Rude. Lots of arbitrary rules. Expensive. Buy an hour and last call is in 30 minutes. Harrassed me until i left the pool, even though I had ample time left. More bad to share. Not recommended. I read the reply to my post, to be crystal clear, I was not treated respectfully nor kindly.
William S — Google review
Our experience at The Springs was incredibly disappointing due to misleading information and poor customer service. The website clearly states that children under 18 are allowed at The Springs on certain days, which is why we booked a family outing for Saturday morning. However, it never mentions that kids are not allowed in the private tubs at any time. I learned that crucial detail only appeared in the fine print of a confirmation email after we booked and we were all standing there in your reception area checking in for our fun family outing—and by then, it was non-refundable. We were shocked to arrive and be told that our nearly 17-year-old son couldn’t join his mom, aunt, and cousin in the private tubs. Instead, we had to leave him alone in the public pool area. When we expressed our concern, the staff simply said, “Did you read your email?”—which came off as dismissive and unhelpful, especially given the lack of upfront disclosure on their website. This is not how a resort should treat guests, especially families trying to follow the rules and plan in good faith. Due to the lack of transparency and unwillingness to accommodate or take responsibility, we will not be returning—and I would caution others, especially families, to be very wary when booking.

Such a great destination, just 25 minutes from downtown Boise! Picturesque both the drive and the park itself, gorgeous backdrops paired with a soothing sound of running water. Please make a reservation for their bbq area ( theirs is a big gazebo to guarantee plenty of shade ) for group parties! There’s a fantastic walking and biking path that is smooth and protected with a rail on one side. Bathrooms were clean and the daily fee to use the park was seven dollars. Make sure to bring cash for the service fee. So go, what are you waiting for! You won’t regret it!

Bruneau Dunes State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Campground
Expansive park offers hiking & equestrian trails, plus water/sand sports, an observatory & camping.
Nice state park with really cool and massive sand dunes. The campground was nice and close enough to take a short hike to climb the dunes. The visitor center offer sleds and boards for rent to slide down the dunes. Heard coyotes at night and saw a pronghorn near the campground. Also saw a gopher snake that was not aggressive at all. Definitely be prepared for mosquitoes becuase they came out in force as soon as the sun set.

The Ranger at the visitor center was wonderful. She was very engaged in her work and gave us great information on things we could do at the park. We stayed at Eagle Cove and the campground was very clean. Unfortunately, there is no shade at all at this campground. None of the picnic tables have any sort of cover. Regarding the bathrooms, the sink and toilet areas were very clean. However, in the women’s restroom, there was hair all over the shower drain strip throughout our two days stay. The dunes are quite amazing. We hiked early in the morning and it was great exercise. Although we had a map, it would’ve been nice if there was signage along the trails. Unfortunately, we were there during the week and so the observatory was not open. A senior discount is given on campsites, which is a bonus.

A unique part of Idaho. This State Park was a short ride off the main road and it cost 7.00 to enter. They offer impressive massive sand dunes, two camp sites and at the visitor center you can the rent sleds and sand boards to use on the sand dunes. We were told that they don’t rent these if temperatures are too high. We only went for the day, but at night we were told that it is perfect for star gazing. We were lucky to have cardboard with us so we used that as sand boards. The Ranger at the visitor center was knowledgeable and very friendly. We went in the middle of the day so the sand can be very hot. We enjoyed sitting at the top and enjoying the view of the picturesque lake. This was a very clean State Park and it was a lot of fun to visit.

This park was much better than expected. It was well kept and offered some great sunset views. It was so fun to hike up the dunes and watch the sunset. If you are in the area I highly recommend checking it out atleast once.

Food: NA/5 Service: NA/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Parking: 4/5 Family friendly: 5/5 Stroller friendly: 3/5 ADA accessible: 3/5 My family and I came here strictly for the sand dunes and observatory, late on a Sunday evening around 845-9pm. (Apparently the observatory is closed on Sunday?). Entrance fee is $7 cash or check when the gate is closed. You have to be in some type of shape as ascending the 60 deg incline hill of sand takes a bit of muscle and cardio endurance to make it up. Once at the top though, it's a serene and calming experience. On the backside of the first sand dune, the Snake River runs through. Similar to an Oasis in the desert. However, as some people may know or experience, wherever there is water, comes the bugs. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the bugs (mosquitoes) attacked. Not just one or two, swarms of mosquitoes. If you're like me and have allergic itching reactions to pest bites, be warned and have full body covering along with repellent. By the time we escaped to the car my son had been bit on the head and face. Just a forewarning. Bruneau Dunes State Park seems like a cool place to be. There were 3-4 individual camping locations that's were RV friendly and vast spaces for kids to run around. Sand Dunes themselves are not WC friendly unless you invent some type of sled to push/pull the WC up the hill. Also, make sure when dusk arrives, COVER UP!

Finally took our kids here and we used to go ourselves growing up. It's a great day trip from Boise, as it's just past Mountain Home. We want to go back and check out the observatory when it's not as smoky outside. You can bring sleds, hike up and try to slide down the sand. It's a fun family activity in the fall when it's not as hot. There's a campground for those who want to stay the night and I've seen people have blacklights to go check out the glowing scorpions at night.

My wife and I intended to stay the night in one of the park's cabins, but we had to change our plans due to potentially dangerous weather. However, we still enjoyed the park for a short visit. The staff was incredibly helpful in the Visitor's Center. We chose to climb up the small dune but arrived too late in the afternoon to climb the large one - it was simply going to take too long. The large dune was impressively large, and the small one was still cool and very easy to climb in a few minutes. We have been to Namibia and climbed/boarded on big dunes there, and this was pretty comparable. Walking up and boarding down more than a couple of times becomes a pretty serious workout though. The only way up is to walk through the soft sand, so it's best to follow in other people's footprints.

Beautiful dunes state park Of Idaho . Day pass fee is 7$ which covers all state parks . Worth to visit once . They also have rental skate boards for using in sand dunes.

Three Island Crossing State Park

Park
Nature & Parks
613 acres with campsites, trails, wildlife & a center with Oregon Trail educational programs/tours.
This Idaho state park was a great place to camp. Very clean and well maintained. The grounds were beautiful, the campsites were clean with functioning hookups, the bathrooms and showers were clean and the History Center on property was done very well. All the employees were helpful and friendly. The city center of Glenn’s Ferry was walkable (approximately 2 miles) and was very nice with historical points along the way. I personally would recommend camping in the upper loop or the lower loop for the views of the Snake River, but both areas are very nice. Don’t pass up going to the History Center, it is bigger than I was expecting and I learned more than I thought I already knew about the Oregon Trail.

A beautiful and relaxing campground. Lots of birds, heard a barn owl in the tree above our tent, Osprey, King birds, Night Hawks, Swallows, Doves, Warblers, etc plus nice showers with bench option that folds up and down for accessibility and hooks for clothes.. Campsites have electricity and camp fire and picnic tables, very nice and comfortable camping. Some of the trees are close enough for hammocks so my son opted to sleep in a mosquito net covered hammock and said it was nice. The rest of us slept in our tents... Near the river but not accessible due to cliffs. Probably part of the reason there were so many cool birds.

Nice little park with a great interpretive center. Clean and neat campsites, restrooms & showers. Even though I was tent camping, my site had power & water. Windy in the afternoon but otherwise pleasant. No privacy as sites are close together. Nice walking trails and access to main highway.

Great quiet place to camp. Water & electric hookups in each rv space. Waste dump site. Walk to the river for fishing. Shade everywhere in common areas, sites are shaded depending on the time of the day. Very relaxing, just had a family reunion there for 4 days. We will definitely be coming back often !!
Bart R — Google review
I give this place a 🎩🎩 out of 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩. The place is clean and has both electric and water. Has a dump station somewhere i hear. Way too crowded in spots though. Had possibly the dinkiest fire pit while the spot next to me had an actual round fire pit. Grass was nice bit did have some goat heads. The worst part was the camp hosts. Each spot is supposed to allow 2 vehicles but heaven forbid your car be 2 inches on the "grass". Kids can't even play on trees like kids do. They were out hust to enforce what ever they could. They should also move the river closer to the camp sites. It was too far away. Grass was green though.
Jeffrey H — Google review
Very well maintained camp ground. Camp hosts were very kind. You can also get ice and firewood from the camp host. 7$ for a bundle of wood and 3$ for ice. We stayed in camp sight 61. Power and water was at the sight. We could fit 4 tents 3cars and a 40 food motorhome at the sight. I would definitely recommend going it's calm and relaxing place to go.
Daniel M — Google review
We decided to stay in one of the cabins, which are very similar to a KOA cabin. I thought the overall price was high at almost $100. That was with an Idaho discount, and I didn't have to pay the extra entrance fee to the park because I pre-purchased a State Park sticker. The cabin had a working heater and air-conditioner. It also had lights and plenty of outlets. I would suggest that if you have back problems that you bring a blow-up mattress because the mattresses do not have any support. The cabin has a nice front porch. We sat on it and watched the Milky Way pass by in the night. The bathrooms were clean. They had showers and heaters. You might bring some extra toilet paper though because the men's room didn't have any. The building is also well lit at night. The camping spaces have lots of trees for shade. There is lots of grass. Ample parking for one vehicle. And each site has a nice picnic table. I was there primarily to take some photos of the Milky Way and was very happy that all the lights in the parking lot at the Museum were turned off so I could get a true dark sky experience. We will definitely be coming back.

Stayed in site 2. Level site with water and electric. Gravel back in. Some shade. Sewer dump available. Nice state park museum about history of Oregon Trail. Be advised if you arrive before 2PM check in you will have to wait in the day use area. The museum is located there so we visited it while waiting for check in time. Several rigs waiting as well. Not a big deal. Would recommend and would stay again if in the area. Verizon service was good.

Visitor Center: Thousand Springs State Park & Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument

Visitor center
Nature & Parks
Interagency visitor center with information & exhibits about local history, fossils & recreational opportunities.
Small museum but the park rangers working there were very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history and geology. There was a 20 minute movie that was also very good. Small gift shop and fossils on display.
Karen L — Google review
A small visitors center with great fossils and a small gift shop. The ranger was very helpful on what the park has and doesn’t have. It’s paired with an Idaho state park associated with the Oregon trail. The trail is also part of the national park structure but is run by the state.
Eric H — Google review
Small but beautiful visitors center with a brief history of the fossil beds. No access to the fossil beds themselves. The rangers provide a lot of good information about view points and hiking available within the park.
Alyssa B — Google review
It is rather small. They have some fossils and some replicas. I drove down towards the sight where they were found that was a nice place by the river. The dam area just north of the center has nice river views. Very pretty area.
J P — Google review
They are at separate locations, very cool to see water coming out of a rock wall. I visited 2 of the sites and wish I could have gone to all of them. It is very interesting to see. Easy walking.
Julie H — Google review
Nice place! Had great info from the ladies at the desk, I usually blow right past visitors centers but this one is a must stop to see all the state parks in the area. Lots of activities for kids too!
Samantha S — Google review
Small visitor center with information on fossil beds. There is not direct access to the fossil bed but good amount of fossils are shown in the visitor center itself.
Valanka F — Google review
Beautiful rest area views with clean bathrooms and friendly folks visiting. The only complaint was the GIANT Mormon crickets ( I believe that's what they were!) The crickets were all over in the shade areas and trying to get into the bathroom. Thank goodness these crickets are seasonal! I recommend stopping at this beautiful rest stop it's perfect if you're an 18 wheeler driver or pulling an RV.

Miracle Hot Springs

Recreation center
Nature & Parks
Campsite with RV sites, canvas domes & group tent areas at geothermal spring pools.
This is a great place to relax. The pools are warm and the rooms are great for a couple wanting to get away from everyone else. The rooms also have individual controls so you can make it warmer or cooler. Also the massages they offer are fantastic! Great for a family or just a couples get away!

Nice stop along our trip from west coast Oregon to Colorado. Good place to chill, soak, & balance from roadtrip weary. Showers are nice but small and not overly clean but price for a spot for us to stretch and kids to get some jitters out. Staff was very friendly. Water temps were great. Atmosphere was lovely. Sun bathing. Chess and checkers as options is super fun idea. Also ice cream to go how awesome before getting back on the road. There is camping and yurts to stay in on the property which is beautiful. River is running near by. No service though unless you booked to stay with them as a warning. That is my negative star as i was hoping to look up a few dinner options on our route.

The pools are clean and well-maintained, and the temperature is just right without being overwhelming. Depending on the time of day, you may even have the place to yourself, which adds to the sense of tranquility. It is an incredible reminder of nature’s ability to heal and recharge us. Highly recommended for anyone passing through the area or seeking a quiet outdoor adventure.

It was my first time coming to a hot spring & I am glad I have tried it . Can’t thank enough for my hubby for bringing me here for my birthday. I don’t know how to swim lol & didn’t know how I feel about it . But my hubby had to drag me out from the water lol ! I had a blast , that was one of the most romantic things I ever did with my husband. One of my fond memories & can’t back to try it again . So every time we come to visit my in-laws I will definitely try to come back . It’s a perfect romantic gateway , they also have pool & overnight staying . He was already planning about staying at night next time . Can’t wait to come back . The reason I took out one star is because of the customer service, it needs a lot of improvements. And the restroom stinks , I almost throw up trying to go inside . We had a long drive going back so I hold my breath & just hurry up. That experience was horrendous!

Miracle Springs is truly amazing! Charming location and facilities. Private baths include the main pools for a low price! Super helpful staff with long term ownership. Plenty of parking and adjacent camp sites. Closed on Sundays. Busy Saturday especially at night. Senior discounts.

Pretty good hot pools. 4 pools of various temperatures, but only 1 that I'd really call hot. The rest were 101-102F or below. No cold plunge pool either, which was disappointing. Facility was in good shape, restrooms were clean.

⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely disappointing experience – rude staff and zero compassion I booked a stay at Hot Miracle Springs at Twin Falls to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and unfortunately it turned into a nightmare. I accidentally selected the wrong date when making the reservation, and when I realized the mistake, I called to fix it. The staff on the phone were shockingly rude and completely unhelpful. They refused to let me adjust the booking, wouldn’t offer a refund, and told me that if I still wanted to go, I’d have to pay for an entirely new reservation — they wouldn’t even recognize the money I had already paid. I explained that this was supposed to be a special occasion and that I couldn’t afford to pay twice, but they showed zero empathy or flexibility. The entire interaction left me feeling disrespected and extremely disappointed. I would never recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of other hot springs and resorts that actually treat their guests with kindness and understanding — go anywhere else but here.

Worst staff I've ever delt with. I was denied soaking in a private room that I booked in advanced and drove 2 hours for because my brother was 1 month away from being 19 and im 21. 2 weeks ago this wasn't an issue. 2 weeks before that it also wasn't an issue. 10 years ago it wasn't an issue. Will never be returning!

Balanced Rock Park

Nature & Parks
Geologic Formations
Great place to camp or picnic on a hot day. Cross the highway from campground (one minute) and down the gravel path is a "pond-like" swimming holes suitable for dogs. It smells of oil due to piping of thermal water uphill, but you likely won't see a single soul, and I think the water element is just as pretty as the creek at the park minus the gorgeous birds.
Angela — Google review
I can’t add much to the other reviews except, if you are mobility challenged, you can get a great view from the parking lot while your companions clamber to their heart’s content.

A beautiful park, stunning view of the stone giants! So colorful and magnetic! My husband can't help climbing to the balanced work, but it's easy to enjoy it from the road too.

This is one is a master piece . Get ready for a very hard trail if you are not that Fit and the trail is quite steep at length of almost a mile and if you are wondering if it is worth it don’t you dare !! Keep your camera ready for pictures and videos if you are entering from Buhl. Splendid view is on the cards. Trail is a bit mess with trash and smashed particles of glass pieces take care Get your self a nice trek shoe or climbing shoe this is a pro trip wear gloves on winter day visits. Enjoy the pictures!!!

I am so glad I visited here, it was a 30 minute drive but worth it. It had a little trail we walked about 30 minutes and the campground was nice. I also spent way too much time chasing and catching lizards. I loved it. We saw fish in the river and climbed the rocks. I would be careful of watching littles if you're going to be by the river as there is no beach or area and it's deceptively deep. But there are places away and we were fine with kids raging from 18 months to 9. But a good note none the less. It wasn't too awful and had shade. The toilets were upgraded outhouse but were clean and if you enjoy a breeze up your bum you'll love it. Overall, a good use of several hours. No cell service personally, but not far from where it cut off.
Tess K — Google review
I strongly recommend wearing closed-toe shoes because there are a lot of red ants while you climb toward to the balanced rock. It is a great attraction and view, and be careful when you climb. You do not want to slip and fall off, haha.
Ray B — Google review
Balanced Rock and its corresponding park are spectacular. The little park is a quiet shady oasis in the middle of the high desert. It is peaceful, on the waters edge, and set in a deep canyon. There is a small playground, waterspigots, some covered picnic tables and about 16 campsites. Perfection for an Idaho summer outing.
