Tamastslikt Cultural Institute

Museum
Natural History Museums
Exhibits & videos detailing the impact of the Oregon Trail & pioneer settlement on Native tribes.
We were very grateful for efficient air conditioning when we stopped here on a hot day. We were greeted immediately by a friendly staff member and directed to the museum. The exhibits are well-constructed, thoughtfully-presented, and organized to flow from one concept to the next. I felt like I got a good summary of the culture and history represented here, including the less pleasant details. My kids kind of rushed through it (they didn't pause to read much), but even they came away with new ideas to think about.
Hawaiian S — Google review
It was nice, the building is really big for what you can actually see, the actual museum is quite small so it feels like you’re paying a lot because the museum is small but it was informational and a nice stop.
Kelsey C — Google review
We were extremely satisfied with this Cultural Institute. Learned things I had only heard stories about. If you get the chance.make sure and stop by. Be advised the Cafe is only open four hours a day.
Paul D — Google review
We sought this venue out for a rest from Rodeo activities. A great presentation of Indian culture past and present. An important part of the history in Eastern Oregon, and the PNW. Don't miss this museum/ cultural center.
J. P — Google review
We really enjoyed the institute. The exhibit is organized so week and the story it tells is so moving. We highly recommend spending an hour or two here you wont be dissapointed. Great café and gift shop too.
Craig L — Google review
An incredibly eye opening experience! We left with a completely different view of the history we've been taught compared to reality, so sad, and wished we could apologize to everyone on behalf of all the awful things we did to all the native tribes. Very informative along with stunning displays and pictures. Incredibly clean, well laid out, and the staff is very friendly. We believe everyone should experience this museum to understand the truth of our nation's history.
Miranda P — Google review
For me, this was a fascinating experience. From sitting at a campfire and hearing the creation story, to listening to other stories in the real sized long house I was completely immersed. The depiction of how our indigenous people were affected by western expansionism affected me to the point that I had to excuse myself from the group to collect my emotions. Upon leaving, I share the hopeful optimism that this community will thrive in all of its endeavors.
Roxanne O — Google review
Exceeded my expectations. Well thought out and comprehensive exhibits "in the round". Illustrates 400yrs of evolving of the Tribes' relationship with the land the immigrants. Don't forget your Senior and/or AAA discount. Cafe and restrooms, Pendleton gift shop, bring your credit card.

Wildhorse Resort & Casino

Casino
Casinos & Gambling
Wildhorse Resort & Casino is a laid-back destination that offers various dining options, a golf course, and an indoor pool. The facility is smoke-free indoors, with smoking only permitted outside. It features amenities such as a bowling alley, arcade, movie theater, and children's entertainment center. The resort also provides comfortable accommodations and a casino for guests to enjoy. Visitors appreciate the friendly staff and affordable food at the sports bar during happy hour. Additionally, its convenient location makes it easily accessible from Boise.
This could be my home away from home! We love spending time here because it has everything we need. We are probably here on a weekly basis and enjoy the perks of being a frequent guest. Wildhorse also has a bowling alley, arcade, movie theater, and golfing, there is something for everyone. Not to mention slots and poker. The pool is nice and they also have a hot tub and sauna. I would definitely bring my family to Wildhorse for a good time.

Stayed here while on our family road trip. We were greeted by a friendly staff member and checked right in. The grounds were well kept and the park location was perfect, just a short drive off of I-84. The RV sites are nice and level, the utilities are perfectly located. It was great to have the park close to the casino and as a plus, they offer a free shuttle that picks you up at your site. The kids enjoyed the pool and everything they had to offer. We will absolutely stay here again.
The C — Google review
Was just passing through town and wanted to check out the casino. Loved this place! Has so many old skool games that I haven't seen in years. It's nice to see a wide variety of games and not the same few games throughout the entire casino like so many casinos are nowadays. Was pretty easy to win on many of the games as well, and feels good to actually walk out with money in your hand! We will definitely go back again some day.

5-Star Review – Outstanding Experience at Wildhorse Casino & Hotel! My recent stay at Wildhorse Casino and Hotel in Pendleton, Oregon was nothing short of excellent. From the moment we arrived, the level of service and hospitality far exceeded our expectations. A special shoutout goes to Sarah, our host, whose professionalism, warmth, and exceptional customer service truly made our trip memorable. She went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of, and her friendly demeanor made us feel like valued guests from the very start. The hotel check-in staff were equally impressive—quick, friendly, and incredibly accommodating. They made the arrival process smooth and stress-free. Additionally, the Player Services/Card staff did an outstanding job connecting us with a host and helping us secure a beautiful complimentary room, which was a wonderful surprise and greatly appreciated. We also enjoyed the Traditions Restaurant buffet, which offered a wide variety of delicious, well-prepared dishes. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and the dining staff kept the atmosphere welcoming and relaxed. Overall, our experience at Wildhorse Casino and Hotel was truly fantastic—excellent service, great food, and a team that genuinely cares about its guests. We are already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended! Sincerely, Dean and Kimberly Goff

It's basically your fun, average casino. The hotel is usually booked out every weekend and the card tables are usual packed as well so good luck finding a table to play at. The bar has great drinks and food service. The live bands can be enjoyable too with a small dance floor.
Justin B — Google review
We are redoing our review because now the hotel tore down the old dingy rooms and they're building a new tower. We are so happy that they are still allowing dogs in certain rooms. We hope that this continues when the new Wing gets built. This is one of our favorite casino hotels now. Staff is very friendly. The food is good. The gambling is just okay, but not bad. Lots of options for machines. It's worth joining their Players Club. They are very generous with their free nights and other rewards. And if you have kids, there is a wing with an arcade, bowling alley, movie theater, and food court. I guess these are for adults as well! We actually bowled here a couple times and ate at the food court.
Stephan K — Google review
Continues to be disappointing. We have stayed here no less than seven times in last 12 months No less than three times plus this trip one of two elevators not working which means likely dozens of times The wait is ridiculous. This visit as well one tiny bar of soap in bathroom which had the glass shower in parts with plastic shower curtain Refrigerator not functioning maintenance required hot tub jets not working As they build new tower the existing is becoming dilapidated I am sitting in my room listening to constant noise of service elevator across the hall Folks from Boise area as we are rejoice last week in the announcement of our Idaho tribes soon to break ground on new Casino and resort just east of Boise In meantime buyer be ware and good by to Jackpot as well and cactus Pete’s which is a dump

My hideaway truck parking! The venue has alot to offer, other than gambling. Kid friendly with a movie theater and a bowling alley. Wish I had more time to explore

Pendleton is a charming destination known for its woolen products and historic attractions. The Pendleton Woolen Mills, established in 1909, offers guided tours where visitors can learn about the wool production process and explore a store featuring unique blankets, clothing, and accessories. Additionally, the town boasts several parks such as Roy Raley Park and Pioneer Park, providing green spaces and recreational facilities for both locals and tourists to enjoy.
This was my first time shopping this store and I definitely recommend it. I was greeted as soon as I walked in with a warm hello and I genuinely want to help me if I needed it. I was searching for new born baby items to take my daughter in Missouri, the ladies knew exactly where to direct me and was not hoovering or pushy sales. I was very happen with the quality and my gifts was a huge hit at the shower. I would also like to add the lady that checked me out went out of her way to get me savings and was so kind during the transaction.
Lynda S — Google review
Large, clean, well-maintained store - filled to the brim with all things Pendleton! They have a huge variety of blankets (robes), and all types of clothing. We were greeted immediately upon entering and directed to the sale racks and boy did we find sales! High quality items at affordable prices. Professional, yet fun and friendly staff members made our shopping experience here at Pendleton top notch! We will definitely return.
Dianna M — Google review
took their 11AM tour, it was less than 20 minutes long and our guide was very knowledgeable! we got “passports” that gave us 20% off at the store. I got a tshirt, sticker, and coat for less than $70! amazing price for amazing quality. i really loved visiting and learning, and would love to see their other locations!
Logan L — Google review
What a wonderful store! I sadly was not able to get onto one of the tours but the store itself has a small sel directed gallery area with a ton of information. You are also able to see into the mill area and watch the blankets being made, it is so cool! The back of the store has an area where they sell “seconds” at a wonderful price. I bought a fabulous blanket that I am absolutely thrilled with! The staff we all very knowledgeable and kind, it was an awesome experience!!
Lisa S — Google review
As a Canadian artist who paints Hudson’s Bay blankets, I was curious to see what Pendleton has to offer this blanket loving painter. Booked the tour and also bought some blankets. Enjoyed a wonderful behind the scenes tour of the factory, wonderful to see how the blankets are made and enjoyed seeing all the spindles of colourful wool. Also bought a few blankets that were considered seconds with minor imperfections. They also have a small museum about the relationship with the Native American tribes with which they traded merchandise. Wonderful staff and iconic products.
Brandy S — Google review
Visiting the Pendleton factory was amazing. They have sale items that would otherwise be unavailable online. They offer factory tours Monday thru Thursday.
Brad R — Google review
Pretty nice selection of Pendleton wool blankets and themed clothes, etc. This location is actually in Pendleton, OR at its original location, but their Portland store has a much larger selection.
Mike N — Google review
Never been to a Pendelton store so really wanted to go to their factory outlet. Huge selection of wool blankets. Think the only thing made thete was the wool items, most everything else made in Vietnam and China

The tour explores underground tunnels where Chinese laborers lived while working on regional railroad operations and where illicit businesses like brothels and speakeasies operated with hidden escape tunnels. This unique experience provides insight into Pendleton's captivating past and is a must-do activity in town for those interested in local history.
Loved it! Our guide Brad Wilson was fun and engaging and kept it entertaining and fun to learn about Pendleton's underground history. He grew up in the area so he has a little extra insight about the area. I highly recommend the Pendleton Underground Tour. It was a super fun 2 hour tour!
Jody R — Google review
The tour was absolutely fabulous. Our tour guide Nicole did a lovely job. Showing us different rooms that displayed different time periods within the community. Some showed an old bar, original ice creamery freezer, a speakeasy, old Chinese jail cells, opium layer, and even the towns most famous Madame (and her home). Quite fascinating!

This annual event features bronc riding, horse races by Indigenous and Non-Indigenous riders, feasts, war dances, greased pig contests, sack races, foot races, and fireworks.
Such a great place. Everything's there for you to have a good time. The roundup is a must see. The let r buck room is air conditioned so you can have a break from the heat and have a drink. So many food options. I went there on Thursday and loved every show.

The concert was great but they need to do something about that dirt track. Way too much lose dirt, maybe lay something down like artificial turf around the track for this event.
Aaron B — Google review
Needing an extra large wedding venue? This worked beautifully for my son's wedding, they were great to work with and are close to the ONLY venue in the area that can accommodate more that 150-200 people! Price is actually fairly reasonable for the space you're getting.
Janet Y — Google review
We have had so much fun here over the years. Great venue! "Let 'er buck"!
Blue B — Google review
Went to the Happy Canyon Night Show and had a blast with my family. There was more story and history for the Native Americans piece vs the Settlers it seemed, but that's okay. I felt it had a bigger impact on the audience, especially in this political climate we're in. It did for me, and hurt my heart for the Tribes seeing so many of them proudly representing their people and what happened to their ancestors. I didn't know ahead of time that there was loud, heavy pyrotechnics and it did trigger my dad who is a Veteran with PTSD. We were a little late, so if it was announced beforehand we missed it, and I didn't see it on the website, so heads up to anyone attending in the future. Great time for all ages!
Deanne P — Google review
I've never been disappointed at the Pendleton Roundup! It's the place to be if your within a hundred miles of Pendleton and you like rodeo. I highly recommend.

🥂Perfect Finish to a week filled with Family - Food - Fun! The peaceful pleasure of reclining below a willow tree in the shade at a pond with your spouse or significant other... Sharing the moment while sharing beverages and food... sipping red and white wine samplers, a Smoked Chicken Sandwich with Bacon, Sweet Potato Waffle Fries, and for dessert the mouth watering Cheesecake Lemon 🍋 topped with sliced strawberries 🍓 Our waitstaff Jenna was informative, courteous, and provided excellent service. Thank you Waterbrook! 💖 Recommend taking in the scenery with a stroll along the path around the pond. Note: The menu has updates, no photos to provide.

A nice & serene very family friendly winery. Good service and good wine.We tried the mixed flight of wine & loved it. Loved the outdoor sitting area with a pond view.It was so beautiful and calm. The food was very nice too and there are good options (Even for vegetarians) to order from. They provided a activity sheet with lots of colors to my kid & he thouroughly enjoyed it & it kept him busy. Would love to go back to this place & reccommend it to all my friends too.
Vinti B — Google review
Such an amazing winery!! The wine slushies are so refreshing, all of their flights are well priced and not tiny pours, and it’s such a picturesque spot with the pond and willow trees. The food came fast and was so good—highly recommend the flatbreads!
Ginger R — Google review
We had such a great time hanging out here. The wine and food was amazing. The servers were so polite and quick to get us things. We had our tasting outside by the pond. They also had bocce ball and horseshoes, which we played. It was so tranquil walking around the property.
Kristi B — Google review
Delicious food, beautiful grounds, friendly service. Liked 2/4 of the wines I tasted, but everyone’s pallet is different and the pours were generous. Only minus was that the tasting is poured all at once - on an 85* summer day, all of our wines (from the white flight) were room temperature within 15 minutes. Bring em one at a time please!
Molly B — Google review
I had a great experience here. The wine was great and I really appreciate the recommendations the staff was able to give. Sky was a great server and so was the woman who gave me a sample of her favorites of the purple sticky note. One of the wines of the flight was not my favorite so she brought me a different red instead. This place was gorgeous and had a nice path to walk, a bridge and fire pits. I will definitely be back! Thanks so much!
Emma E — Google review
Yes, please! The service was fantastic. I wish we could have stayed longer - but there was a flight to catch. We've tasted many local wines, and have been to several wineries throughout our time - but the service and serene vibe here was next level.
Simply C — Google review
Views are very pretty & the chef did an amazing job the food was incredible! Grilled cheese BLT, sweet potato fries, onion honey cheese curds & the ranch & adobo aioli all very impressive!! They also looked like they had a lot of lawn games & fishing gear set out for their pond. Patio atmosphere was great.

We are visiting from Southern BC, Canada, and had an absolutely fantastic tasting with Ryan. We would love to thank him for sharing his knowledge about the history and the wines made at L’Ecole Winery. This has been my favourite tasting experience on our trip. Thanks again, loved every wine. You’re doing some great things down here in Washington 🥂.

Me and my partner enjoyed our tasting and the relaxed atmosphere. The gentleman that helped us was an absolute delight. So glad we detoured off the road to check this place out.

Our tasting experience at L’Ecole was incredible! From the very first pour, it was clear this pioneering family winery brings hospitality to a whole new level. Ciera was so knowledgeable and engaging—she answered every technical and curious question with ease, bringing each wine to life as she shared the family’s path to establishing the high standards of the Walla Walla wine region. At L’Ecole, they make sure it’s more than just pouring wine in a glass—it’s about sharing the ‘life’ in the glass. This memorable tasting left us with a deeper appreciation not just for the wines, but for the people and stories behind them. Truly unforgettable!

Stellar wines and great people. If a beautiful day sipping wine on a relaxed outdoor patio is your vibe, this is the place. It’s also one of the oldest wineries in Walla Walla.

The wine was amazing and the people could not have been kinder to us. We had 3 dogs and they made sure we always had water and brought our tastings out to us. They have a lovely yard with outside seating.

Made a quick stop on our way home to visit this winery. Great wines- so many bold reds! Beautiful place and Cory was super nice and informative. Thank you! ☺️🚙👋🏼🍷🍷
Kathy R — Google review
Every time we come home to Walla Walla, it has become a tradition to visit the Woodward Canyon tasting room. Terry and his team do a spectacular job of working through the respective wine tasting menus, generous pours, explaining each wine and the vintage - all the time while being and serving other patrons the same great service. Highly recommend a stop here at Woodward Canyon. The grounds are groomed with immaculate garden and landscaping. The front porch has a shaded seating area overlooking the front of the grounds, the small community of Lowden and the highway.
Jeff D — Google review
We have been here several times and have a great experience every time. The wine is so good. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing. We are looking forward to coming back year after year for our anniversary tradition. The owner made it extra special and gave us a tour of the wine cellar. 💕
JoAn S — Google review
I can't give this place enough stars. It was the 6th or 7th winery our wine group visited on our Walla Walla trip, and even though all 8 of us have very different tastes and preferences in our wine, it was hands down the undisputed favorite for all 8 of us. The grounds themselves are nice and quaint. Nothing fancy. The tasting room again is a small room with modest furnishings. The wine being poured was sensational. They offered 2 different tastings and each pair of us got 1 of each so as to taste them all. Nothing was poured, it was all delicious, and several were revisited. We bought a case of wine between us all which had not yet been done. Some prices were very reasonable and others bordered on too expensive. However in my case, when deciding on a $70 bottle (for example) the quality and taste was 100% worth the cost. No one in the group was at all surprised or phased at the prices for these wines, which is not true of every winery we visited. On a next trip we will be visiting a whole new set of wineries (there's over 150) with the exception of Woodward. This place is just that good.

While we didn’t partake in libations, we really enjoyed the atmosphere and folks that work here. Sno Road Winery hosted a cycling event (Echo Red to Red). The interior is nostalgic and comfortable. The outside area has a huge fireplace, different area to relax and an area for the musicians, who were quite good! God willing, we’ll see you next year!

Hidden gem that's worth a visit! Great wine, with many options. Friendly staff. Awesome outdoor area that's great for hanging out and relaxing. Didn't hesitate to pick up a few bottles to take home on our first visit.

Such a great winery. The family is amazing that own it, friendly and welcoming. The silo outside is beautiful and the grounds were well maintained. They currently have all reds to taste but will have rose soon. They have beer also we had a charcuterie tray they prepared but your welcome to bring your own. We stayed in our motorhome on the property with Harvest Hosts and it was nice , safe and quiet . Will definitely stay again.

Sitting here for the last couple of hours enjoying a flight and a $5 glass of rose wine have made the end of a day amazing. I wanted to get out of my hotel room and it was way to hot to hike, so I decided to check out Echo. Tucked on a major street in Echo it felt like the bar Cheers walking in. I was the newly, but I felt welcomed. I decided to check out their flight and take advantage of their $5 wine Wednesday glasses. I tried the rose, muscat, and medium red. All were amazing, but it was something about the rose that was refreshing and light. So, this was my $5 glass choice! I sipped this on their relaxing outdoor space that has tons of seating and shade. I took my time reading and enjoying every sip. I decided to take a bottle of muscat home! It is a pretty unique flavor with just a hint of sweetness. Thank you for this experience Echo Ridge!! I will hopefully be back!

We had the wonderful experience of sipping wine and enjoying the beautiful garden patio at Echo Ridge Cellars last night. We started with a tasting flight and each wine was delicious making it difficult to decide which one to choose as our bottle for the evening. In the end we ordered the Rodeo Red. As fun as this wine sounds it was seriously delicious. The owners Jay and Kim circulated around the guests and we were lucky to be able to chat with them for a while and hear their stories. A very fun evening, Jay and Kim, and we are so happy to have met you.

You don’t just find Echo Ridge Winery — you stumble into it, like a secret whispered by the hills. One of those places where the land feels like it’s still catching its breath after a long history, and the wine carries all of that into the glass. The tasting room is humble, warm, and unbothered by pretense. You won’t find a velvet rope or performative wine snobbery here — just good people, a view that silences your phone, and flights that unfold like chapters in a dusty American novel. Every bottle had a story. One had wild blackberry and dusky cedar. Another tasted like late summer and the memory of rain. But the Cab Franc? That one stopped me. Like a campfire conversation you remember a decade later. The folks behind the counter? Kind, real, and clearly in love with the process. They’re not selling a lifestyle. They’re sharing what the land gave them. If you’re anywhere near Echo or drifting through the eastern side of Oregon, go here. Not to be impressed. Not to chase trends. But to remember how simple things — done honestly — can still surprise the hell out of you.

Love the small winery feel, something for everyone’s tastes! The grounds are so beautiful and we appreciated the dog (well behaved) space. Filled up our car with CF Rose and Three Blondes and a Boy.

We stayed here through Harvest Hosts and had a great experience. Since it was a hot day, my wife tried their watermelon wine slushy—refreshing and absolutely delicious—while I enjoyed a couple of their beers. We also shared a veggie and hummus plate, which was equally tasty. The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We highly recommend this spot!

Hat Rock State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Lakeside park with boating, swimming, hiking, biking & a fishing pond amid arid sagebrush hills.
Nice stop wile driving out east. The park itself has a lot going on from a picnic area, short hikes and a fishing area. Bathrooms are clean and parking is plentiful.

Beautiful place for a hike. Cool little fishing spot. Great picnic areas.
Eduardo A — Google review
There are houses right next to the Hat Rock. There are also picnic tables in a park nearby.
Brent W — Google review
In all honesty we took a ride to this park on our own Lewis and Clark Expedition starting in St. Louis. So we did very little at the park. We spent about 45 minutes taking pictures of Hat Rock and picnicking for lunch. This is a lovely well kept park . The picnick area has ample parking, nice clean picnic tables many in shade. This would be a fun park to explore as it does have a marina. What we saw we liked very much.

Take a support team but I swam across the river and back here about 2 miles. Do not attempt this without people who care if you live in boats and kayaks or paddleboards. When I learn to swim better I want to try a distance swim without fins and hand paddles.

I looked around and didn't see a restroom. There was a note about starting to charge to visit in October. I don't think I'll go back.
Ray T — Google review
It's a cool place for sure. I went during winter so it wasn't green and the bathroom was closed. However it is still a fun little hike to see the hat shaped rock and read about Lewis and Clark and how the rock was formed.. stop by and see for yourself..
D A — Google review
One of those truly magical places. It is still basically wild but has a ton of history and some serious variety of nature. There is recently a suspected arson fire that destroyed quite a bit of wilderness but it's already regenerating just like it should. I did the hike from the Lewis and Clark trailhead Up to hat rock. Along the way you'll see some weird old things I'm pretty sure it's remnants of a old train depot and the foundation ,a bread Baking oven ,a stove And many old rusted remnants of the past. As you walk along you'll see animal paths coinciding with human paths as well as the old railroad grade. Work your way up to hot rock and you'll see an amazing view from the top. One of the best sunrises and sunsets can be seen in this area. Please pick up after yourself not many people will and it becomes a problem if things get chucked over and over and over. Also pack it out if you can instead of overloading dumpsters and making your problem somebody else's problem. I know all of this sounds hippie but we just need to do our part. If you're a strong swimmer there's an enclosed Swim area but you also can venture beyond and go out to the small island not too far. Don't be safe and you might be sorry ,be safe and you'll do much better. There are 2 campsites that are free but you have to reserve them it seems to be fairly difficult to get ahold of the agency in charge. Also be aware that this is rattlesnake country and they come out at night, so protect yourself. They don't want to hurt you ,they're just looking for a warm place to sleep. There are wetlands and scrub brush trees rocks animals just about everything in ecosystem needs. Go experience it. This is real Washington!

Such an inspiring experience! We were passing through and I’m so glad we stopped. I think we have all heard about salmon migrations, but the information presented here goes much more in depth than I previously knew. It also does a great job explaining how the corps engineered the dam systems with salmon migrations in the forefront of their mind. They took every precaution possible to ensure salmon migrations are able to continue uninterrupted. Visiting really makes you think, “what can I do to help?”

Great place. Very well kept parks available for picnics or parties. The visitor center had informative displays. There is a fish viewing room but it wasn’t migration season.

Interesting visitor center but this is the only dam along the Columbia River who has something against foreigners. You have to have a specific US ID to get in to the powerhouse. They won't accept US military IDs or any other government department ID. Only driver license and passport. I am surprised that are still at that point in 2018.

Now, we are a very outdoorsy family and love being out in nature but... yikes! The Spiders. So many spiders we all felt like we were in the movie arachnophobia. I didn't even know I had a fear of spiders until this trip. I am going home with 30 bites from spiders and mosquitoes AFTER using the most toxic bug repellent we could buy. Park hosts were kind at the entrance but then very rude to a few of our members saying things like "oh I didn't realize you couldn't read" when one of our elderly guests apparently pulled in "wrong" to the site. Swimming was not an option with the amount of grass, leeches and water bugs. We held our family reunion here with 50+ people and EVERYONE was on high alert throughout the trip due to staff, spiders, and worrying the kiddos would get sick if they snuck off to the water. Such a shame because it seemed so beautiful when we arrived! Facilities: bathrooms were well maintained but again, walking to and attempting to enter through the webs and spiders dropping from trees doors and walls was so spooky! We survived but will not be back.
Cherrielee R — Google review
The campground’s proximity to the lake is unbeatable. However, swimming enthusiasts should be aware that the water near the shore is hindered by dense grass. If you have a paddleboard, kayak, or canoe, you can easily navigate past the aquatic vegetation. Our boat and jet ski adventures were a blast! Being able to moor right by our campsite made it super convenient. Kudos to the campground for organizing movie nights for the kids. It’s a thoughtful touch that adds to the family-friendly vibe. While the staff’s diligence is commendable, their vigilance sometimes felt a tad excessive. We even got a gentle scolding for filling our trailer with water before the official check-in time (2 pm sharp!). They have electric hookups, but there are no water hookups. The free dump station awaits as you exit. Just remember not to park on the grass; the staff is vigilant about that! The bathrooms were clean, and the free showers were a welcome relief after lake adventures. Beware, though—the spiders were out in force during our August visit. Over all Hood Park has picturesque setting, but be prepared for some strict rules and watch out for those eight-legged lake companions! I didn’t get a lot of pictures.

Beautiful park with boat launch and river access. Negatives: Park supervisors roll by campsites way too often (started to wonder what they were looking for when just enjoying my propane fire) Algae in swimming area ( can't help that) ***They LOCK gates at 10pm to 6am. You literally cannot get in or out. No alcohol or open flames Only power at site Positives: Great location Good price Water and dump at check-in area Space between sites

Locked in a campsite with stray wild dogs. That's the experience I had the first 2 days I spent there. Our dogs were attacked, and no one cared. Park attendant said this happens all the time!!!! Park attendant said they can't help you, but they can lock you in the camp ground with a wild loose Belgian malinois dog. Big dog!!! I was scared most of my trip and I have night mares since. Our party member who needed to go to the hospital because of these park conditions had to wait 3 hours till 6 am to get out of the park. It's not a safe place for kids or dogs, and the people running this park can not legally help you. They told me this. Never again. It's not the place I remember, and sadly, I won't return with my kids... Overpriced and only half a refund to get ptsd from their poorly run park. My dog had to stay in my car for 2 days. Please fix this... it was very sad for me and my kids. Save your money. This place is not safe! I am including the picture of the dog running loose on my trip. Not my dog. Mine is 6 lbs.

Sacajawea Historical State Park

Park
Where two rivers meet, this expanse has hikes, kitchen shelter & a center focusing on Lewis & Clark.
This is a great historical state park that is located on the northwest side of the Snake River and Columbia River. There are a few easily walkable trails and some artifacts that you can view, not to mention the museum. I would recommend stopping if you're in the area and have the family with you. The kids might like some of the artifacts. As always, leave no trace, leave it better than you found it, and enjoy 😉!

Nice ground to walk but it opens at 10am. Really would be nice if they would keep the websites up to date since they say 8am. We didn't get to go in the museum or interactive areas since they were closed and we had to be in Walla Walla soon after. Maybe next time

Sacagawea State Park is a canine paradise with easy access to water, allowing our four-legged friends to frolic freely. The expansive grounds offer plenty of shared spaces and breathtaking views, creating a serene escape. The perpetual shade from the tree canopy enhances the experience, making it an ideal haven for both nature lovers and their furry companions.

Beautiful, well maintained park! Tons of open space with many mature trees that offer ample shade. The water was quiet and beautiful, our toddler & pup both loved watching the geese. The historical exhibit is thoughtfully designed with interesting & relevant history of the indigenous tribes surrounding the Columbia river. Lots of parking & ample space for our RV to maneuver in and out of the park.

Planters are empty or over grown, walking path is dirt, only old swings to play on. The swimming beach needs to be cleaned out and is not usable. This park is sad and needs updating. I felt terrible that we wasted a precious limited time there. If you go through, at least walk through the museum. It was a tiny bit interesting. I give it one star.

The park is located at the confluence of the Columbia and Snake rivers. It is such lovely park with lots of picnic tables under large shady trees. It has a boat dock and paths with informative signs about the area and its history. An interpretive center is located in the middle of the park with displays about Lewis & Clark and the area's native peoples. There is no cost to visit the center. However, a 10-dollar fee or a 30-dollar annual Discovery Pass is required to visit the park.

I stopped at the supercharger during a trip, and was disappointed that there was no food, so me and my dad walked past the large play structure to the Sage Center and it was really cool inside with interesting displays 🦌🥔🐺, sadly we didn't tour it all but we did use the public bathrooms (The girls bathroom is clean and comfortable) and shopped around the gift shop. Not to mention there was to go bowls of tillamook ice cream 😋. The costumer service was also super good and the employees were really nice.

This is where my Tesla always has us stop on our trips to Boise, Idaho. Once I actually went inside, I saw how cool the museum actually is. It has a lot of interactive activities and awesome information you wouldn’t learn from many places. Great place for kids. It has an outdoor playground and a little area for dogs to run around, play and go potty. Would definitely recommend stopping, especially with children on long trip breaks.

Best place to charge EV with kids! We stopped here twice to charge our Rivian and it’s the best. Chargers are fast, and some of the Tesla chargers have adapters so we could charge easily. The best part is the playground!!!! So much more pleasant to charge here with the kids. There’s also picnic tables, so a great place to hang out while you charge. One negative is that there aren’t bathrooms (there was a disgusting port-a-potty).

Wow, where do I start. Ms Kelli(mgr) is the best at what she does at the park. We stayed a few months and the camp host(John& Christine) were wonderful. The park is clean and the area is beautiful. They have a rooster who has made himself at home which I believe gives it that country effect. We loved the RV Park/Marina. We’d recommend this place highly.

Very well maintained campground. Check in was quick and easy. They have 50 amp power ports. Many sites have some fencing that helps with wind blockage and privacy. Train noise can be heard but not as bad as some other places we’ve stayed. The day use park is nice, however the swimming area is taken over by geese and the west parking area seems to possibly have illegal activity going on in the evening. People sitting in vehicles while other people move from vehicle to vehicle. Being former law enforcement I have seen that kind of thing before. The camping area was very quiet and peaceful until Friday when the loud drinkers started showing up. Don’t expect the 8pm quiet time to be enforced. Use google maps or some other resource to find a site with shade if staying in the hot months. Overall a nice stay.

Terrific location on the Columbia River. Easy to get into. Only $55 for the night. Large sites with lots of room between. Nice walking path along the river to stretch your legs after a long day of driving.

This is arguably the very best RV Park around for 50 miles. Beautifully maintained grounds, large lawn and Columbia River Views in almost every site. Simple monthly charge of $110 a month for utilities and WiFi if staying long term during Winter Months. Current monthly charge for extended stays, $680 a month. I can't say enough good things about this facility, a Gem!
Christian E — Google review
This is a great location, especially if you love seafood and boat trips! There is no end to the number of nearby restaurants and daily charter boats. The sites are a tad narrow and the parking is out of control during crabbing season, which can make it a challenge to get in and out of the park but after you're parked, it's a great place to spend a few days or weeks (or months even! =)!
William V — Google review
Great RV campground right on the Columbia River. Sites are spacious with lots of green space. Showers/restrooms were basic and showers could use a bit of an upgrade. Laundry room was nice. Only 2 complaints: (1) the sprinkler system that ran 4 of the 7 nights we were here was pointed directly at our TT and soaked the entire side of it and our truck. That wouldnt be an issue except that one of our windows was open so it got the inside of our trailer wet. It also soaked everything we had outside including our shoes. (2) Staff that mowed twice while we're here made no attempt to aim clippings away from our site so we came home to grass all over our belongings. Fortunately we carry a leaf blower so we could blow everything off. Otherwise this is a great camp site with a beautiful view, especially sunset views

There is a nice walking trail along the river. This RV park seems like it is in a park. There are a lot of trees and more space between RV's than I have ever seen in an RV park. It would be nice if they watered at night so you can get into or out of your unit without getting in the mud or getting hit with sprinklers if you are trying to get around. There is a playground for children.

The Gesa Carousel of Dreams is a historic 1910 carousel that has been a beloved attraction for over a century. Originally located at Silver Beach Amusement Park in Michigan, this masterpiece was crafted by renowned carver Charles Carmel and features intricately designed horses. After being dismantled, it found its way to Roswell, New Mexico before finally settling in Kennewick, Washington.
My kids and grandson hadn't been here before. They had a great time. Take a ride on their 44 horse carousel. $3 tokens can be purchased at a wall unit. The staff are friendly. Your kids and grandchildren are gonna love this place.

My son had to use the restroom and I seen they had restrooms inside. So I took him in to use it and as I was talking with my wife that I would like to take the boys for a ride on the carousel sometime. Suddenly this old lady that works there told us to use the restrooms outside that the ones are for paying customers. As someone that doesn’t know the area I thought it was rude of that lady to practically kicking us out of the place. If you don’t want people using your restrooms maybe you should put a sign up. Restrooms for paying customers only. It’s the proper way to tell people. Anyways, I changed my mind about taking my boys there with an unprofessional staff.
Alfredo J — Google review
My little guy was unable to ride the ride with my older son, it was incredibly busy and we drove over an hour to come just to turn around. I was so sad to find the information when we got there and not anywhere posted online. The staff was incredibly friendly and sweet. The rating is not a reflection of them but rather a reflection of the lack of information provided anywhere to make an appropriate judgement before driving so far. It was a beautiful ride and had very kind staff. Would have been enjoyable had I known everything in advance. We attempted to call ahead but they were unavailable to answer questions. We took our chances and were sad to find we couldn't ride. That's okay. Maybe another time.

The staff are truly some of the kindest friendliest people we have ever met, I wish I would have caught their names, but they were too busy making sure we had an amazing visit. The way they interact with you will make you feel like a kid again, and I’m so glad the kind gentleman running the ride convinced me to ride with my son. We will definitely be visiting any time we’re in the area, and recommending that everyone else do the same.

What a lovely place to visit! An indoor, beautiful, antique carousel that is over 100 years old. It looks an operates like new. The staff were all so kind and friendly. How refreshing that was! The children who think they’re just a bit too big to enjoy may be surprised to find themselves having fun trying to capture a brass ring. :)

Beautiful winery and well organized. Very friendly workers. Picked up a load of empty barrels. Guys who loaded my truck are rocks. They put 154 barrels in my container in less than one hour.

Visited 6/27. Had to knock to be let in a few minutes after 11. Two young women were ringing up people in safety vests(employees?) one after the other. After about 5 minutes of waiting at tasting bar, one of them asked if we were there for a tasting and we answered, yes. She stated she would be right with us and continued ringing up these vested people. After another 5 minutes of being ignored, we left. We had been regular drinkers of your wine, and had looked forward to this tasting. However, due to your employees' rude behavior, you have lost us as customers.
Scott N — Google review
Nice winery with a lot of character, despite being like a corporation (watch the trucks with grapes come and go). Make sure to go down the stairs and see the cellar with all the cases. The tasting room is very comfortable, enough space to taste and browse the wines. Prices of the wines are very reasonable.

We had the best time at Columbia Crest Winery today in the tasting room with Vicky,. She made our day by being so welcoming, joking around with us and being so informative! She even got us some cheese and crackers to go with the tasting! We shared how much we were looking forward to our visit, but had been worried of our delay during the drive to the winery from the Columbia Gorge waterfalls, as it was much farther than we were thinking and it took so long to get there that we didn’t arrive until 4:30, just having discovered that they closed at 5 pm while we were on the way! Upon arrival we thought we would be rushed through the tasting experience at this, our favorite overall winery, after coming from Philadelphia to visit while in Washington. But nothing could have been further from that as she showed us numerous wines and even gave us an individual tour of the vine cellar and a tasting from a barrel during fermentation! She shared her Columbia Crest story with us and even took a picture with us! In the end we were there for over an hour and we would have never known that she and a few of her colleagues were staying to make our experience so special! What a wonderful representation of Columbia Crest she was! Congratulation to Columbia Crest for having a great staff member to represent your business!! Highly recommend others touring this beautiful winery!

I'm going to be honest, I was a bit leery because it was such a big corporation winery. But it was actually a great experience. First of all $5 for 4, 5 tastes? Awesome. Second, the chateau they had was incredibly classy but approachable. Third, the attendant at the bar was incredibly nice, easy to talk to, and poured us drinks we were curious about, even if they were off the list. Good times and nice vineyard to walk around.

Planned a private wine tasting with my girls to catch up and drink wine. They even helped out with creating a charcuterie board to sample with the wines. Overall, a great experience and a beautiful place. Shame it was raining, would have loved to walk around but the scenery was breathtaking. Will be visiting again during my next visit.

Howard Amon Park

Nature & Parks
Howard Amon Park, situated on the Columbia River in Richland, Washington, offers a variety of recreational activities for visitors. The park features tree-lined walking paths, tennis courts, and a playground for children of all ages. Additionally, it provides access to the river for fishing, boating, kayaking, and swimming.
We absolutely love this park! Lots of stuff for all ages, with new, well-maintained playground, zip line, climbing walls, sandbox, accessible playplace, and wading pool. Great picnic tables, trash cans, and shady grassy areas for picnics or parties. Close to the river and walking trail. This is our favorite park!

The wife and I stopped here while enjoying the evening after dinner visiting Richland. Great park with lots of paved access for wheelchairs and mobility devices. Easy to get near the water. Even at night it was mostly well lit. Certainly an interesting dichotomy with the fancy river cruise boat docked at one end and the homeless resources van at the others. The restrooms were ROUGH and smelled like cheap weed but the overall park was clean and well maintained. We even banged around on the little precision garden next to the playground and it was nice. Lots of folks playing pickle ball and volleyball and the courts were well lit. Totally worth a stop and the history of this land is cool too with the connection to the Manhattan project. On a side note it was nice to see a publicly accessible AED in the parking lot with lots of lights directing you to it.

In town for Art in the Park. Parking was NUTS, but the park is huge and awesome with tons of cool toys and things to do. Plus hundreds of vendors. Will be back next year. Awesome job Richland Parks and Rec team!!

It's a king-sized park that runs along the river. On a hot day it's a fun place to swim. Huge shade trees, green grass, squirrels, and a paved walkway that runs throughout the park. Picnic tables, benches, and really fun looking kids Playgrounds - and there's a wading pool too.
Wildcraft R — Google review
Howard Amon Park is a very large and versatile park with so much to offer, especially for families with children. The playground area is expansive—kids could spend hours here exploring and playing, which is always a good sign (and might even mean an early bedtime afterward!). There’s even a small rock climbing wall where little ones can start learning to climb in a safe environment. At the moment, the water pool is under construction and won’t reopen until summer 2026, but there’s still plenty to enjoy. The park also has a nice little beach area along the Columbia River, perfect for fishing if that’s your thing, though I personally wouldn’t recommend swimming there. The grounds are beautiful, with wide grassy spaces, lots of trees (great for hanging up a hammock), and plenty of shaded spots to relax. There are also picnic areas available to rent for gatherings and special occasions. Overall, this is one of the most robust and well-rounded parks I’ve ever visited—perfect for families, events, or just enjoying the outdoors.

We love this park! One of the best parks in the USA in my opinion! Love vending here for Art in the Park festival with my business THE WAVY BUNCH! Lots of shade, fun playgrounds, soft grass & great swimming!
Alena H — Google review
I truly enjoyed my time at the park. It was snowing, very cold, deserted, and so beautiful. The world was hushed with snow. The only sounds were the birds chattering on the river. I look forward to seeing the sunrise next time I visit. Do be aware that I spotted a rare venomous tundra squirrel. Don't turn your back to it and show no fear as it can sense such things.

This whole place is beautiful. The wading pool is my son’s absolute favorite. The boat is beautiful. The water is beautiful. The park is nice and clean.

09/14/24 We just had a wonderful experience today here at Red Mountain trails. We did the Vineyard Wagon Ride, and the host/driver was absolutely wonderful. She told us about the grapes-harvesting and the native species of plants as we traveled along the trail. My wife loved her B-day gift today. Perfect day for it with upper 70's and sunny. We highly recommend this place and will be back with family when they visit. Thank you RMT for a wonderful trip today. :-)

The "Horse Experience" was so wonderful. Riding is so much fun, but there is a ton of enjoyment to be had grooming the horses, learning how they communicate, and communicating with them in the ring! I highly recommend this experience. I took my nearly 97-year-young grandma and she enjoyed grooming her horse so much. What a good day. Teresa is so generous and it is obvious she cares deeply about her horses. I'm grateful she offers all of us a chance to join in.

We had a wonderful experience! The horses were calm and easy to manage and we learnt a lot about the area.

Emily is such a great and knowledgeable trail ride leader and gave us a beautiful ride touring several wineries! They have a wonderful boutique showcasing local artists and many fun classes. This is my second trail ride and I will be doing many more. If you are ever in Tri Cities or surrounding, please stop by!

Teresa is very kind and informative. She allowed a group of us to show up last minute to surprise a family member who loves horses. It was a very good experience. We all enjoyed ourselves. Her horses are so sweet and funny. Also, I highly recommend her homemade goat milk soap! It smells phenomenal and leaves your skin feeling so soft.

Spent 3 days wine tasting in the Red Mountain area with 2 other couples. We did the Sunset Wagon Ride and Dinner with Red Mountain Trails on our last night. What a great experience. It was about a 30 minute wagon ride each way to a simple table set up for the 6 of us table cloth and all. Beautiful view of the valley and was totally quiet except for the laughter of our group. Great food from the grill and much more than our group could eat. This was the highlight of our trip and was very different than the usual noisy restaurant. Will definitely do it again.

Teresa is a wonderful host! She introduced and paired the horses well to our experience levels. Nice easy trails. I would recommend to anyone interested in horseback riding or wine tasting!

Terra Blanca Winery & Estate Vineyard, located in Red Mountain, offers a delightful experience for couples looking to indulge in wine tasting. The winery is set in a beautiful location with stunning views, making it feel like an oasis. While the tour may not always be available, the wine tasting provides a generous and varied selection of flavors. The $30 per head fee can be waived with the purchase of two bottles of wine.
Beautifully landscaped location with a spectacular view. The tasting room is elegant and spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating. The tasting selection was extensive and the wines superb! We purchased 3 cases! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. We enjoyed our experience there. The party nearby left a pair of sunglasses on their table and the staff kindly ran out to return it to them. I highly recommend visiting here!

Stopped here to do a wine tasting and wound up staying for lunch and then coming back for their monthly three course dinner later in the evening. The wine was some of the best we tasted in the Red Mountain area, and the food was just as spectacular. Katie who did our tasting was very knowledgeable and told us so much about both the wine and the region as well as how things are grown. She provided excellent wine recommendations and also let us compare and contrast some of the different wines which really made for a great tasting experience. If I lived in the area I would definitely come back often for both the food and the wine, but we had to settle with ordering some to be shipped home.

We had the Ceasar salad and chicken. The dressing was not terrible but was put on a little heavy and needed just a little more zest to it to be very good. We also had the Giacomo pizza, which was very good. It had very good ingredients and was cooked nicely. Lizzy had the Albarino and seemed to enjoy it a lot. Overall prices are not terrible for a vineyard but are on the pricier side but not a terrible value. We We definitely come back on occasion.

We booked a tasting followed by a reservation for their Thursday night happy hour. The facility is very very nice, with Italianate decorations and patio. The wines were some of the best in the area, as well as plenty of different types to try. The food was SO so good too! I felt like we had really lucked out on booking at this winery, and I don't feel like we could have gotten better food anywhere else in the area. The Divola pizza was divine! Our server was very kind and personable, which is always appreciated. She answered all of our questions and never made us feel neglected or rushed. The owner of the winery was present behind the bar that night and opened up wines not on the menu so that we could have extra tastings, which made us feel very special. I will definitely come back again, and specifically book the Happy Hour too! I am very appreciative to have found this winery!

Tami and Katy were the best! They were so kind and personable. Additionally, the charcuterie board was the best we have ever had and bonus because they also had local draft beer which my fiancée enjoyed. They had a great selection of white estate wines to choose from. The arch terrace Chardonnay did not disappoint.

Loved this gorgeous winery! The view is absolutely breath taking. Reservations are recommended especially on weekends as this place gets very busy. They have an onsite kitchen and is a very popular spot for wine and lunches. They are dog friendly on the patio only. You get to taste about 8 wines for $30 Or fee is waived with a purchase of any two bottles. Tasting did not disappoint from their whites to red. They have a variety for all taste buds. I loved all their Cabs. They have a mix of 100% Cab to some with Merlot and Cab Franc. All were delish and as I was tasting I kept thinking of food items these would pair well with. Of course we purchased half a case variety of red wines. Venue is super clean, great vibe and super friendly staff. Darcy and Alex were both amazing. We will definitely be going back here when in the area.

Alex H.was our waitress, and Chef Dan was our cook. When we arrived, we were seated appropriately. The wine tasting was interesting. Then, YES! My order was running late (food ).Ok stop! Here comes the Five stars. I expressed it was best to get the bill, and move on... NOPE! They took it to the next level and as light as they are with staff, they came through in a clutch.

We didnt get to do the tour due to unavailability and had to contend with the wine testing. First thing first - beautiful location. Felt like an Oasis when we went in. Beautiful views. Coming to wine testing - nice flavors (I am not a big wine lover, but liked the different tastes/wines they had). They charged $30/head. That would have been waived off, had you gotten two bottles of wines from them. Since I am not a big wine drinker, i opted for the tasting. They have cheese and crackers, which we need to buy and they would serve it for you. Our hostess was patient and clear while explaining each one before pouring. We didnt get food here, but i saw food being served to a table. I would definitely recommend this place if you wanted to do some wine tasting.

This tasting room was a delight to visit. Savannah was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the wines and vineyards. We had a "small" charcuterie plate. It was quite big and easily fed 2 people. It was fresh, tasty, and had good variety. The tasting room was beautiful with a covered outside deck that overlooks the vineyards. The wine was amazing! Their reds definitely shine. I even like some varietals that I typically don't care for. I ended up joining their wine club :) Great service, wine, food, view, and atmosphere!

I cannot say enough good things about this winery! We booked a tasting along with a charcuterie board while we explored the local vinyards. We intended to only stay for an hour or so, but ended up loving the gorgeous balcony, delicious wine, and great service so much that we cancelled our next stop so we could spent a lovely afternoon with a bottle of their Lemberger and some more charcuterie. We also learned a lot about the local vinyards and history as well, which is always appreciated. I can't get over how beautiful the entire facility and balcony was. It is one of the prettiest wineries I have ever been to! We will definitely come back again!

Great experience! We really enjoyed learning about the three generations who have developed this winery into a showcase in the Red Mountain AVA. Wine cards with descriptions of each wine allowed us to set our own pace. We pre-ordered a large charcuterie for our group of eight.

Bought cases of wine on "sale" and they were terrible. Tried to get back my money and was willing to turn all unopened bottles over. But was told they were from " the previous owner." No other reason. Probably not stored properly. Worst customer service on this sale. Even if it was from previous owner. The wine sucks. Venue is OK.

We recently hosted our annual awards celebration for Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Central Washington Real Estate at Desert Wind Winery, and it was nothing short of fantastic! The ambiance and atmosphere were absolutely perfect for our Cowgirl/Cowboy Chic themed evening—warm, welcoming, and beautifully styled. A huge thank you to Justice and Michelle for their outstanding support and hospitality. They were incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the planning process and during the event itself, making sure every detail was just right. We highly recommend Desert Wind Winery for any special gathering or celebration. It’s a stunning venue with exceptional wines, food and service! It's also great for wine tasting, grabbing a bite to eat with family, friends or for that special occasion! Thanks Justice and Michelle! We will be back!

The good: room itself was gorgeous and comfortable and clean. The wine was very good. And we got a free glass in the tasting room plus a bottle of wine in our room. The bad: we arrived an hour before check in but were not allowed to check in early despite the place not being full and the room almost certainly being cleaned. Not a huge deal but would have been nice. The “view” is nothing like their pics. You can get a slight glimpse of the river through a tree but there’s also a major highway visible (and audible). The sky was pretty enough! And then something I didn’t account for when booking here was that they close at 5 and open at 11. So we had two hours to eat and drink (plus the hour before we could get into our room). I’d imagined settling in and getting dinner and wine without having to go anywhere but that’s not the case.

We decided to return to Desert Wind to celebrate my birthday, as we had enjoyed it so much last year, same time. (Mid September.) We were disappointed to learn that they are no longer offering the "small room service breakfast" as part of their package but didn't know that until we checked in... Was challenging to find any local restaurants to accommodate our group of 5. (I suggest you bring back the breakfast. It is a large part of why we rebooked. ) Also, the grounds could be INCREDIBLE, however, there are no flowers in the flowerpots, the shrubs and trees are overgrown and many things are dying. Very sad. The food and wine are outstanding, just like last year and the staff and Justice and Berta are wonderful. We would love to come back but would love to see the breakfast return and some more care of the grounds. :)

Had a great stay at the Desert Wind winery! We chose it as our base of operations for exploring Prosser and Red Mountain wineries and we thought the location was great and the accommodations were super comfortable and clean. We stayed in the 2 bedroom condo since there were 3 of us and for the price you really can't beat the quality of the room. It is worth noting that the winery and food are only open during the day (from 11 - 5 while we were there) but there are plenty of places nearby to get breakfast or dinner later in the evening. You also receive a complimentary glass of wine if you check in during regular business hours and a free bottle to enjoy in your room, which provides a great opportunity to sample what they have to offer. The condo was very quiet and private and you have your own entrance to use if you are coming and going after hours. Would definitely recommend staying here as a great option to explore the nearby wine country.

Amaya surprised us with a mini wine bottle ornament a wine bottle opener for our wine tasting visit. Funny how Desert wind ended up my 2024 - we have stayed here at the inn before for our anniversary last February and the experience was very pleasant.

Beautiful room to serve as our base of operations. Temperature controls were NOT available in the room, so we had to keep the balcony door open to keep from BAKING.

My family stopped in a week ago. The server instantly notified us that she had ADHD and that her service would reflect such. She was very knowledgeable of the wines we were tasting. She took our lunch order that included a charcuterie board and told us that we couldn't get the charcuterie board because they were out of cheese (which was well within lunch hours). She returned with our order and an over-baked flatbread with balsamic vinegar. She said there was no charge for the bread. She did apologize for the cook. Shortly after, we were waiting for our cutlery which I inevitably approached her for it. She did apologize for not getting the cutlery to us. The experience was not as enjoyable as I had expected. I doubt I will recommend this establishment to others.

Recently married a couple from our church, and after the wedding ceremony, the reception was at Desert Wind Winery. We had the large back reception hall, all to ourselves. This is a great Owner/Winemaker winery. Gordon is knowledgeable, relaxed and personable. The wines are made to reflect the varietals in an unhurried manner. Some vintages aren’t bottled or released for up 5 years from harvest so that they can “finish” properly. If you are looking for a laid back environment and good wines this is the place. Oh and the views from the outdoor tasting area are rated the best of Prosser. Cheers.

LIGO Hanford Observatory

Stopped in a few years for a random visit out of the blue. I did not make any arrangements, nor checked any calendar of events for open visiting hours. I just drove up to the front gate and asked if I could enter the property. Given its status as an academic center, I was allowed on the property but not allowed to enter most of the buildings. That was ok by me, it was more than I expected, to be granted the opportunity to step on the property and at least walk around the facilities for a bit unescorted (I'm sure they could watch me on the cameras). I took a few good pictures to commemorate the experience and came away with the thrill of knowing that century old theories of a brilliant physicist had finally been confirmed. Since that trip I vowed that any further visits to such a place would be better arranged. I had my opportunity a couple of years later, when friends planned on meeting in New Orleans. I made sure to fly in two days before I did and made sure to arrange a tour of LIGO Livingston.

LIGO is a wonderful place where people can see how tax dollars are responsibly used to increase human knowledge. The good news is that one need not be a scientist to comprehend the information presented. I highly recommend a trip to LIGO for all those curious about space and the natural world. Tickets are free, but you must sign up in advance.

Unveiling the Cosmos: A Stellar Experience at Sanford LIGO Observatory As an enthusiast of all things astronomical, my visit to the Sanford LIGO Observatory was nothing short of breathtaking. This facility, a pinnacle of scientific achievement, offers a unique glimpse into the cutting-edge of cosmological exploration, and it did not disappoint. A Marvel of Modern Science The highlight of the observatory, without a doubt, are the massive x-y arms, crucial for the LIGO's mission to detect gravitational waves. Witnessing these monumental structures up close was awe-inspiring, offering a tangible connection to the abstract and profound phenomena they're designed to observe. The sheer scale and precision of these arms encapsulate human ingenuity's boundless reach, a testament to our quest to decode the universe's most elusive mysteries. Enlightening Guided Tour The guided tour was a cornerstone of the visit, transforming what could have been a mere observational experience into an immersive educational journey. The guide, brimming with knowledge and enthusiasm, elucidated the complex scientific principles with remarkable clarity. Understanding how these arms function to detect the ripples in spacetime created by distant cosmic events was absolutely fascinating. It was a perfect blend of profound science communicated in an accessible manner. Architectural Grandeur Meets Scientific Endeavor Beyond its scientific significance, the observatory's design is a visual feast. The x-y arms, stretching across the landscape, create a striking harmony between human-made structures and the natural world. They stand as a bold declaration of our presence in the cosmos, reaching out to listen to the universe's ancient whispers. Final Thoughts My visit to the Sanford LIGO Observatory was an enlightening journey that expanded my appreciation for the universe and the extraordinary efforts we undertake to understand it. The observatory isn't just a place; it's a portal to the cosmos, offering rare insights into the fabric of spacetime itself. For anyone curious about the universe, passionate about science, or simply in awe of humanity's capability to explore the cosmos, a visit to this observatory is an absolute must. It’s a place where science meets imagination, where the cosmos's secrets are within our grasp, and where the universe's silent music is heard loud and clear.

A colleague of mine wanted to go here so we did a short road trip from seattle to here. The staff is super nice. We had an appointment for the observatory tour at 11:45 am and they were on time. They first explained about what they do at the observatory. And they took us to some few important spots in the campus. The person who was taking us on tour, answered all questions. We had a great experience. If you are interested in knowing more about the observatory, then definitely it’s worth the visit!!

Fantastic wine, friendly staff, and yummy cheese plate. A shining gem in Washington Wine Country!

14 Hands has consistently delivered high quality, excellent value WA red wine blends for many years. The 2019 Juicy Red is another great example. Syrah based, it serves up complex, well balanced blueberry, dark cherry, black current, mocha and spices. We enjoyed ours during a delicious roast beef dinner. Still youthful for about an hour, it smoothed out nicely for sipping after dinner.

This place is amazing! I read a comment that said the wines are totally different than what is in the store and that is 100percent true. Great wines at a great price. The white cabernet is divine and the charcuterie board has the best cheese I've had in years.

We continue to enjoy going to 14 Hands each time we visit our family in the Tri-Cities so that we may select a few more bottles to bring back home to Napa where we live— we especially love their Cabernet Sauvignon! What we like is that 14 Hands offers a good selection of reasonably priced wines. We also really enjoy the wine tasting experience because 14 Hands has a very nice tasting room, a pleasant and knowledgeable staff, and a large and welcoming patio area— we recommend ordering the cheese plate, which we have found to nicely complement our wine tastings!

A beautiful winery serving one of our favourite Chardonnay’s!! Just a quick first stop on a whirlwind three week road trip, we couldn’t ask for more! Grabbed a few bottles to go for our evening “night cap” in the next town/state!! Thank you 14 Hands for making such tasty product!!

Went here for a wine tasting and they were so awesome and so nice that we ended up joining their wine club which has no membership fee. As a result our complete wine tasting was free and the bottle the prices of the bottles of wine were greatly reduced. It's a very nice wine tasting room with a big large outdoor area that wraps all the way around. Besides the tasting room in large outdoor patio area, they have some interesting vintage barnwood displays, an art gallery, and a little store. Employee Cassandra took great care of us and told us so much history of the winery and their different grapes and vintages. We had such a fun time, highly recommend.

Our highlight of our winery visits in Prosser was the warm welcome we got from Casandra and Veronica at the Best Western Express and 14 Hands winery. They represent the best of the company!

We stopped by this lovely tasting room while on a road trip in July 2022, as a respite from driving in the 100°+ heat. It was a very pleasant experience. The atmosphere of the tasting room is very nice, our tasting guide was wonderful and we enjoyed some unique reserve wines that the winery does not distribute very widely in liquor stores. So, of course, we ended up buying a few bottles. Highly recommended!

First time at a tasting room in Eastern Washington. This place was not crowded for a Sunday, but we were not their during the busy season. Learned about their process and how they get their wine. Had some nice reserves while there.
