This place is awesome and more than we expected. We took my daughter for her 7th birthday celebration. It's not only a great water park, it has a small zoo, several dry rides, a train, sky ride, 30 minute circus, and more. You can also bring your own food and drink! We went during a rather cool spell (68°), which isn't necessarily ideal for a water park. However we enjoyed the dry portion of the park first and saved the water rides for until after lunch. It was a little cooler than idea, the cool weather resulted in virtually no waiting for the water slides. According to the signs, on busy days, lines can result in an hour or more wait on some of the popular water slides! During our visit , we literally ran from slide to slide with no waiting! It was a great day!

First time for me and my kids going to the park. many of the rides were running efficiently. However, one was not and they didn't tell you and it created an hour-long wait where there shouldn't have been one. We had a couple of great staff members that were coordinating the rides Anna and another girl and they were awesome. Food was relatively inexpensive for amusement park food.
Russell A — Google review
Went with my family and we had fun all day, the kids absolutely loved it and couldn't get enough of the tidal wave and the giant water slides. The lazy river was fun too. Love this place.
Jude O — Google review
We camped over at the campgrounds so it was a great experience to kind of break our trip up. We passed water safari a few times before we came since its located right in downtown old forge. When the kids finally got to come they loved it. We have been here several times. I didn't notice many changes if any. Everyone had a great time.
April — Google review
Our family loves this place! Great for kids of all ages, rides for the younger ones in the back, but the water park is the real highlight of the park. There is lots to do, even on busy days you don't wait as long as other water parks and their siesta promotion lets you goin in the day before after 3pm till close then the full next day. Great value, fantastic park, friendly staff.
Bill H — Google review
I’ve seen the negative reviews. But there’s so many good qualities about the park. The fries bucket was big enough for me and my husband. The waterslides only really had a 10-15 minute wait. The foos was great and the wave pool was fun. One thing I didn’t like was that they force the dogs to do tricks. The black fluffy one clearly saw he didn’t want to do the tricks but she forced him by the leash. And the circus could do with more crowd interaction rather than playing with a ball. Other than that the park is great and I will come again! Props to the conductor of the train!! I love how kind he was and awesome at his job! If he sees this, it’s us, the newlyweds!
Heather A — Google review
As a lifelong visitor of this park, I was very concerned about the changes being implemented under the new ownership. However, after our last visit on June 30, 2025- I have to say I was very impressed. Entrance to the park was extremely fast. Just a quick wand of your bags. The park itself is very much the same. The park was very clean, staff was friendly and engaging. One tiny little thing I’d like to see change. I don’t mind spending money on food inside the park. However, the food wasn’t very good. Very expensive burger that was the size of McDonald’s, pizza and fries at the pizza place was mediocre at best. We had cheese on half our pizza and the last 3 inches to the crust was just sauce. Fries tasted stale. My boneless wings were good but very small. The food needs to be better. Next time I won’t bother spending money on food inside the park. We will wait and hit pied piper afterwards. That was really our only disappointment.
Kelley A — Google review
We were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness and the amenities at the water park. The rides were great there were a lot of them and the lines were not long.

McCauley Mountain

Ski & Snowboard Areas
Nestled at an elevation of 2,200 feet, McCauley Mountain is a must-visit destination for outdoor enthusiasts and families alike. This stunning mountain features a ski resort with 21 trails and a chair lift that operates year-round, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape during both summer and fall. Beyond skiing, visitors can explore the charming town of Old Forge, which boasts an array of dining options and accommodations to suit every taste.
The mity mite trail is perfect for all ages to learn to ski or snowboard. The tow rope worked well for our toddler. The instructors were patient and kind, regardless of age. There were kids as young as 2 and what appeared to be adults in their 20s. Due to the instructors' kindness, all of them were having a great time and were relaxed while learning.
Danica W — Google review
It is absolutely beautiful. The way up on the lift was amazing. The top had a gorgeous view and trails to hike. Going down had breath taking views.
Shannon B — Google review
Always a nice spot to stop and visit during the spring and fall. Haven't been there during thr winter so I can't really speak much for the skiing. The view in top is breathtakingly beautiful.
Great S — Google review
We recently had the pleasure of riding the chair lift to the top of McCauley Mountain to take in the breathtaking views. Our little one rode for free, while the two adults paid a very reasonable fee for the adventure. The staff here were very friendly and the views were marvelous. Well worth a visit when you are in Old Forge!
Rory B — Google review
A great visit for the non-hiker in your family- take a chairlift!
Lisa — Google review
One of my favorite places in the whole world.
Jordan S — Google review
Spectacular view from the chair lift ride to see in fall.
NG P — Google review
Love going there, winter to ski and summer to hike or take the chair lift to the top. Very affordable (unlike some other places in the region that are smaller but more expensive). The staff is friendly and plentiful. Plenty of parking, gets crowded but still good skiing. Student ID discount is a nice touch as well. Season pass is a bargain, I highly recommend this place to everyone, from beginners to pros, adults and kids, you will not regret it. 👍👍

Easy looped hike leading up a small peak, for forest & lake vistas from a fire tower built in 1917.
I'm glad we saw this hike posted at our campground. It was a good hike and not hard, especially if you pace your way through some of the steeper spots. The trail is mostly shaded, and the view from the top is amazing.
Todd E — Google review
Awesome trail with beautiful views. Big packing lot and popular! There is a bit of rock scrambling but nothing scary. Enjoy!
Jacob B — Google review
I enjoyed this hike. My watch says it was 1.77 miles there and back. Seems steep at first but the views are worth it. Fast one to cross off the fire tower challenge
Matthew C — Google review
I know you people love hiking but cmon—this is NOT an easy hike. One wrong move and you put yourself out of commission for a week. The rocks are huge and the roots are scattered. You absolutely have to watch where you step, most importantly have the right footwear. I had the right footwear and I still hurt myself. When we were going up we could only wonder how we were gonna get back down. Very steep climb and we barely made it halfway. Going down was just as hard as going up. Be prepared to get on all fours for most of it and to land sharply. Don’t let the beginning of the trail fool you. You’re not just walking, you will have to climb!! Don’t get me wrong, the trail is very nice! We got to one of the first overlooks and it was very promising. We wanted to stick to it just out of curiosity of what was up there, but we decided we had to go back down because we were afraid of having a hard time getting back from the very top. It felt dangerous. You just need to be prepared for the climb and I don’t think we were that day. In my opinion, this was an intermediate hike for sure. NOT easy. If I didn’t have someone with me I don’t think I would’ve had an easy time. Would I try this one again? Definitely, now that I know what to expect.
Lindsta — Google review
Wonderful hike for older kids and adults, I've gone twice and had a great time! Definitely recommend to families!
Ella P — Google review
The great beginner hike and Mountain climb. A lot of smooth rock climbing. My daughter did it in decorative combat boots and I was wearing slip-on sneakers with no tread. Lot of people with little kids. It is very doable for just about anybody
Shane S — Google review
Great, easy mountain hike to a well maintained fire tower. Several nice views along the way to the top. Lots of parts of the trail are bare rock, which I'd imagine can be slippery when wet. My 6 year old easily made it up and back. Definitely a popular spot and the parking lot filled up. We arrived in the morning and there was plenty of space, but by afternoon it was packed. We also passed lots of groups on the trail and waited turns between groups to climb the tower.
Sybil M — Google review
‼️‼️ THIS LOCATION IS WHERE THE FIRETOWER IS FOR BALD MOUNTAIN ‼️‼️ Wonderful views from this mountain. It is definitely worth all the struggle to be able to see the top where the fire tower is located. It was quite a climb for my first hiking experience. At 2+ spots along the trail, the rocks almost went straight down and I had to get on all fours. Plus, the rocks were wet. Overall, I had a great time and I cannot wait to do more FireTower hikes. Important Tip: Do NOT go on a day it is raining or the day after it has rained. ‼️Wait until rocks have had a chance to dry ‼️

Truly an amazing experience. Staff were wonderful, the whole thing was done very thoughtfully and everything exceeded our expectations. I don’t eat seafood so the clam chowder was a bit of a surprise but everything else was as described (and husband enjoyed the extra bowl of chowder). Family owned and operated and a little slice of heaven. Highly recommend!
Megan J — Google review
We took the 90 minute lake tour and it was wonderful! The history of the lake is really interesting and the narrator is excellent. Drinks and snacks served tableside. It's a family business too.
Kay D — Google review
Highly recommended this boat cruise, it exceeded all of our expectations! We took a lunch cruise and had excellent food, we were raving about the veggies trying to figure out how to make our own. Raquette lake is so picturesque on its own, topped with history, a local family business, a nice breeze, great food and a cold Saranac beer made our vacation in the adks! Thanks to the staff
Kevin B — Google review
Great experience. Staff was very attentive. Food was delicious and a full four courses, we chose to add on a fifth (cheese platter highly recommend). The story the owners shared at the end was very touching and hit home why this was such a a great experience, this is a family business and their love for what they do each day is evident.
Maggie R — Google review
What a beautiful experience!!! The cruise was relaxing and educational. The views are gorgeous with all the mountains rimming the lake. The food was delicious!!! It was served at a nice leisurely pace over a couple hours. The people were very friendly and polite. It was a great way to send an evening in the Adirondacks. We met many people who have been doing the cruise for years. What a great testimony. We would definitely do it again!!!
Patrick D — Google review
The Sunday brunch cruise was a wonderful experience, six stars if I could. The boat is meticulously maintained - and particularly impressive that the Pohl family built this one-of-a-kind vessel themselves, right here in Raquette Lake. The food was fantastic. The champagne flowed freely. The captain and crew were professional, expert, and welcoming. The narration was informative and engaging. We will absolutely sail again with Raquette Lake Navigation, perhaps next time we'll try the dinner cruise.
Chuck L — Google review
Awesome dinner cruise! In spite of the fact that it rained most of our trip we had an amazing time. The meal service was outstanding. Great food! Family run business and it shows just how much they care about your experience. Wonderful narration of our lake cruise and especially appreciated the personal history of the area. This is a great experience that you need to make time for.
Capt. T — Google review
Better experience than I even expected on our brunch cruise. Normally the food on these types of cruises are passable but nothing special. In this case, it was a standout! We especially loved the smoked salmon at the beginning. There was a fully stocked bar and an assortment of signature cocktails which were well made. The tiramisu was also delicious! It was a hot day so just make sure you bring a hat and some sunscreen so you can sit up top for longer.

Raquette River Brewing

Mentioned on

Brewery
Food & Drink
Raquette River Brewing is a perfect spot to savor a cold beer while soaking in the stunning views of the Adirondack Mountains. The brewery offers a delightful ambiance for hanging out with friends, such as during Trivia Night, where you can enjoy some laughs and friendly competition. Christielee does an excellent job orchestrating the games, adding to the fun atmosphere. It's also an ideal place to grab a delicious meal along with your freshly brewed beer.
Loved this brewery - we had pizza, then more food from the 3 food trucks on the property. The music was great - though a bit loud. We decided to just sit back to enjoy it, then talk later. Was a great sunny day, lots of people there, you could tell it was a local highlight and staff was super friendly. Beer is awesome!
Theresa J — Google review
I've always been impressed by what Mark and his team have built with Raquette River Brewing. It’s become quite the destination. The beer has become legendary in the region, with a lineup that consistently delivers on quality, creativity, and flavor. The atmosphere is both modern and inviting, striking that perfect balance between laid-back and lively. The food trucks are a major highlight, serving up some of the best bites around, and usually well worth the wait. Whether you're grabbing tacos, BBQ, or pizza, the options never disappoint. A must-visit stop in the Adirondacks, whether you’re a local or just passing through.
Tyler M — Google review
A group of us went out to play Wednesday night, "Game Night," at the Brewery. What fun! Friendly people, drinks, and lots of laughs playing the game. The hard-working bartender was incredible and smiled all night. She's fabulous. There's also a new food truck, and the choices and food are terrific. The pizza truck is also open for business as well, and their pizza is great. Make this place a fun night out on your calendar. Of course, we all went to the Brewery for a bite to eat after the eclipse event. Just had another dinner with friends. Everything was great and everyone enjoyed their choices from the food truck. Went out for dinner on a Sunday late in the afternoon too. We had pizza and drinks and everything was good and it wasn't too crowded.
BRUCE W — Google review
We discovered Raquette River Brewery when it was the only place open on a Sunday at 8 PM, and it immediately impressed us. The brewery has a cozy atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating, decorated beautifully for fall. There’s even a large fireplace, though it wasn’t lit when we visited. A welcoming sign reminds everyone that all are welcome, which was a great touch. Food comes from four rotating food trucks outside. We tried dishes from two of them, and everything was delicious. Portions are just right—not huge, not tiny—and prices are very reasonable, especially compared to other food trucks or restaurants we’ve been to. Be aware that one of the trucks had a very long wait, so if you plan to order from multiple trucks, factor that into your timing. The drinks are all locally brewed, and we each found new favorites—flavorful ales for me and a standout hard cider for my husband. The service was friendly, the atmosphere inviting, and the location is convenient, right on the main route near the municipal park. We loved it so much that we returned for our anniversary. It was definitely worth the drive (an hour each way) and the scenic fall colors along the way made the trip even more memorable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great local food, drinks, and a welcoming, cozy atmosphere in Tupper Lake!
Marina S — Google review
A really cool, if not a bit loud, open lodge style brewery. Really like the option of 3 different food trucks outside. Beer variety was pretty good, really liked the sour options they had. Their merch game is wild, like 20% of the interior is dedicated to all the options - definitely something for everyone. They also have a covered patio outside in addition to the indoor seating.
Conor T — Google review
What a fantastic place to spend an evening! Their space is huge, with lots of tables and a long bar if you prefer that. The rustic decorations makes it feel homey, and the best part is you order your drinks from the QR code at the table and they magically appear. The lack of traditional waiter service also means you feel free to stay and linger as long as you like. The drinks on offer were all fantastic. My husband tried a flight of their brewed beer, and I enjoyed a flight of ciders. Everything not brewed by them is sourced from NY companies. They do not serve food here, but sponsor several food trucks just outside, and you are welcome to eat at the table. We will definitely be back!
Amy L — Google review
Great and relaxing place. Food trucks right outside provide a variety of food that you can take into the brewery and eat there. Staff is top notch.
Judy P — Google review

The Wild Center in Tupper Lake, Adirondacks, offers a perfect blend of live animals, interactive exhibits, and forest trails that immerse visitors in the beauty of the region. It's an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts with pristine waters and picturesque hiking trails. The center also features a musical forest and adorable otters that kids will love. Visitors can explore the museum area filled with educational information about creatures living in the water and even catch a glimpse of an owl.
GREAT museum for kids and adults! Otter show was adorable, multiple dark/movies rooms to sit down at, really fun trails with activities. The staff is super friendly and accommodating -- they clearly love what they do. We spent 4 hours here with a 1 year old, 5 year old, and 9 year old and they were happy and engaged the whole time. If you need an activity in the Adirondacks, this is a great pick.
Maria M — Google review
What a great hidden gem ! Was extremely surprised with all the great exhibits in the main hall and also the amount of live exhibits (otters, fish, turtles, snakes). The grounds are very well kept and maintained. The paths for walking thru the woods and outdoor exhibits were flat and easy with very very few tripping hazards (I mean you are in the woods !) . Would highly recommend this for adults and children
Joe M — Google review
Absolutely amazing place! The Wild Center is a perfect mix of nature, science, and hands-on fun. We loved exploring the interactive exhibits inside — they’re so engaging for both kids and adults. The outdoor trails and the Wild Walk are breathtaking, with stunning views of the Adirondacks and treetop bridges that make you feel part of nature. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, and everything was well organized and clean. A fantastic spot to learn, explore, and enjoy the beauty of the natural world.
Kristina K — Google review
This is a great place for all ages, and abilities! I brought my 92 year old Grandma, in a wheelchair, on oxygen...I myself am disabled, and need assistance with walking. We were able to access everything, except for the big cutout tree, with the swaying, narrow bridges. They also have a large, BEAUTIFUL, gift shop where I spent quite a bit buying unique gifts for family members! The otters really are a joy to watch in their large, nice, tank! They have other animals too.... Lots of fish, and turtles! All of this is indoors! They have a little movie theater that shows films about the adks, sky, and others! They have an indoor restaurant. They have otter feeding shows too! There are many hands on activities for kids! When you're done with everything inside, you go back where the parking lot is and the wild walk is on the other side of the parking lot... You could do walk first if you want.. There is a booth when you first pull in, where you buy tickets. It was 50.00 for Gram and I ($26.00 adult, and $24.00 senior)... You can buy the tickets online if you want and save $1.00 per ticket! I was able to push my Gram right up the wild walk and we got to see the large "bald eagle nest", and the huge spiderweb that kids were having so much fun on! This place is so educational... Even along the walk, there are signs about different birds, and how stuff is made. One section has a cool game with spinners, you can play! The also have a mini gift shop along the walk! I highly recommend visiting this place! My Grandma thought it was pricey to get in, until she started seeing everything, and after we left she said she would have paid double to go! Enjoy your visit!
Tiffany D — Google review
This place is so cool! We had no idea how much stuff there was to do, I could have spent all day in there. The indoor portions are really neat, especially the big globe thing. There’s otters and ducks inside, which was so fun. The outdoor portions are really is so nice, with the treetop stuff and the water access. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. I wish I had come here as a child. Also, the gift shop rules.
Robert H — Google review
The best naturalist visitor center that I've ever experienced! The aquariums, displays, live animals (Fish, wood ducks, Falcon) were amazing. The variety of displays and information provided are Fantastic!! The educational hiking trails and Raquette wooden ball roll platforms made a 62 year old feel like I was a kid again. Additionally the canopy walk was spectacular and easy enough for everyone. Best experience of the trip!
Joe J — Google review
What a beautiful experience this was, especially with the leaves changing color—it made the visit even more special. There’s so much to do for both children and adults. Outside, we enjoyed about five aerial attractions, including a bird’s nest, trampoline, and bird game. There was also live music under a tent, a mile-long walk with around a dozen interactive handmade ball games, and unique playgrounds, all crafted with care. Inside the museum, we found engaging exhibits and living creatures to view, along with plenty of hands-on activities that encouraged learning for children. The gift shops were spacious and well-stocked, and the small café offered affordable food and beverages, which was a nice surprise. Every staff member we met was kind and welcoming. We went on Community Day, so admission was free, but the experience was truly priceless. This is a wonderful place for families, and I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and meaningful outing.
Rani M — Google review
Very fun experience! I highly recommend! Stopped here on a road trip from Missouri. The music forest is so enchanting so be sure to check that out! The wild walk was so fun to explore everything, made me feel like a kid! Very friendly staff as well!

Many happy memories of stopping at and shopping in Hoss's as a kid, and it's almost as fun as an adult. I love the smell of balsam when I walk in. The book selection is great, as is the selection of last minute camping needs. Very cool to see local artisan pieces as well. Hoss's has a great legacy in Long Lake, and is a must stop on your way through!

Such a cute quaint local country store filled with tons of gifts and memorabilia for the ages to come when you make traditions and memories. Clothes, food and trinkets galore. Bait and tackle. Fudge! Famous Oscar's Smokehouse (Warrensburg, NY) also available!

Have loved this store for decades. You know you're there by the balsam aroma that wafts through the store. Every kind of gift/souvenir item you could want. Good quality & price. Stop at their stand across the street for a burger or ice cream! Yum!

Great place to stop when driving through the Adirondacks! They have everything from food and beverages. To a wide section of books, clothing and tourist souvenirs! Make sure to check the tree that is growing up through the building and out of the roof.

Mind boggling store filled with all kinds of merchandise. Clothing, Camping, Food, Knives, too much to list. Check out the tree growing in the middle of the store! Nice people running it too. Really a great place to visit if you're in that lake area.

Hoss’s continues to be our go to Adirondack country store. For years we’ve traditionally stopped here. Now with our family grown we just continue to keep the tradition going. A must stop when passing through Long Lake. Experience the Christmas aisles. A July favorite, smelling winter fragrance, just amazing. Books, hats, knives, clothing, you name it. Hoss’s has it all!!

AMAZING!!! I'm so mad I never went here sooner living in the Adirondacks myself. We stopped on our way back from Old Forge on Sunday and we were blown away. Myself, my gf and our 10yr old son loved everything and plan on going back so we can spend even more time. It's a must see and the best museum we have ever been to, period!

The museum is located on Blue Mountain Lake and offers several galleries about life in the Adirondacks as well as hiking trails and a cafe with a spectacular view of the lake. There are more than 20 buildings at the museum and there is so much to see. It is hard to say which of the galleries at the museum is the best. It’s all really based on what you like about the Adirondacks. The “Boats and Boating” gallery displays a nice collection of Adirondack boats including canoes and guide boats. The "Artists & Inspiration in the Wild” gallery showcases a great collection of Adirondack themed paintings. The “Work in the Woods” displays the dangerous history of logging. Near this gallery is a historic Adirondack fire tower which you can go up to the cap in. The “Life in the Adirondacks" gallery has a great collection of stagecoaches and train cars that exemplified how to travel in style long ago. All of the main galleries show you something about the Adirondacks that you just can’t see anywhere else. The museum offers a nice hiking trail to nearby Minnow Pond. The hike is about a mile long and has an easy gentle gradient. At the end there is a nice boathouse, where there are a small series of antique classic Adirondack boats. The current special exhibition is about the history of rustic furniture from the Adirondacks and around the world. This is easily some of the most well crafted furniture anyone can see anywhere. Some of the best pieces of furniture included hand crafted cabinets, chairs, benches, bed frames, and dressers. The Lake View Cafe & Alcove has great views of Blue Mountain Lake that you can enjoy from the deck. The food here is very good. The gift shop is well stocked and has plenty of books and Adirondack themed merchandise. For tickets to the museum you can save money if you buy them online ahead of time. Tickets are also available at the door. It is easy to spend several hours here based on interest level. The museum offers a chance to learn about and enjoy everything that is in the Adirondacks!

Spent a wonderful half day here. Educational and interactive indoor-outdoor museum campus with a few short hiking trails, canoe rental for Minnow Pond included with purchase of entry ticket, and a wonderful cafe with friendly and efficient staff. Not to mention the amazing view!!

Absolutely awesome museum complex!! The w8fe and I loved it! Super friendly and helpful staff!! The mobility cart they let my wife use made it possible for us to see all of the exhibits and buildings. We will definitely come back the next time we are in the area.

Very nice museum for kids and adults. The small hike to pond to use a Canoe is a extra bonus! Along with delicious sandwiches with a beautiful lake view at the Cafe!

Visited the day of their Fall Festival, October 5, 2025. Had over 20 buildings you could go into and learn about the history of the Adirondacks. They had areas for kids to do crafts, paint pumpkins, bands, people on stilts, catch and release fishing, wagon rides and more. Trails for walking to see the views, a gift shop and café as well. I would say it's more for families but adults seem to enjoy it too. Check them out if you're ever in that area🍂🍁

Great layout! Very organized, pieces on display were appealing to the eye/ eye catching, and the information was easy to read. Very professionally laid out. An engaging museum that captures the life and culture of the ADK mountains. It is an immersive experience for all walks of life. They have hands on activities for kids as well! I loved the ADK furniture exhibit and the Victorian “lodges”. I have family history dating back to the 1880s in a small town in the ADK Mnts. I got a snapshot of what their daily life would have been like.

Highly recommend! We had a great time, staff was very helpful and shower and bathroom units were very clean and well kept. Sites are large and we had an incredible view. The beach is clean with nice sand and a refreshing water temperature.

We have been exploring and camping in the Adirondack’s for years and decided to check this campground out. Nice views from some sites. Shower and bathroom’s are well maintained and clean. We found the sites a bit too close and offered little privacy. The road in the area we camped in is full of pot holes and is in serious need of work. It looks as if they milled it to repave it but never finished the job. Some sections are down to gravel or dirt. I imagine it was nice at one point. Biking was not enjoyable to say the least. Our fire pit was not in good shape but we cleaned it out and realigned the stones that had broken away best we could. Not one of our favorite spots. Oh and did I mention the seriously dead tree?

I just LOVED this place. NY frustrated me with no photos of campsites so this was a gamble for us. We actually ended up switching sites and site 200 is gold everyone! Right at the bottom of the hill to the bathrooms but far enough you can’t tell. Also literally on the water so the views and kayak/paddleboard options are amazing. I really want to come back as we loved this place so much!

Love it here! The views are amazing, the staff are awesome. This is a large campground with camping on both sides of the lake so there are many sites on or near water. The beach is clean and spacious as are most of the campsites.

Just spent the weekend on site 117 , the views and sunsets were amazing. Geese and loons all day and all night . Site was enough to house a 20’ pop up and 10 x 10 screen tent easily with room to spare. To fish from your site you pretty much had to climb some huge rocks and fish from there which could be a chore for older arthritic or disabled people and rather dangerous for smaller children. The bathrooms were clean but no paper towels for drying hands by our site. Shower house has hand dryers and the showers are immaculate ( no spiders) with plenty of hooks and a curtain that hangs between you and a space to keep your towel and clothes dry . The beach was gorgeous but every step was goose poo. Not fun. Overall a wonderful woodsy experience . Other great sites we noted were 125 ( no water) , 112 ( water) 118 ( water) 120 ( mini beach) 138 ( near showers , lake view)
K D — Google review
Great lake very warm water, great service, busy campground. Close to the public bathing area it was very crowded, lots of families and no animals allowed on that beach. However, I stayed over in the area that is sites 180+ which was spaced out very nicely, there were many areas to get into the water from your site and it was much less crowded. If you are looking for less going on I definitely recommend the farther area!

The scenery is breath taking. Really a spot to check out. Especially campsites 240 -260 sunset or sunrise. Campsites are on top of each other tho thats the only down fall in my opinion. Wish they were spread apart more.

I have camped at Moffitt Beach many times over the past 4 decades. This camping experience was a little “different” (summer 2021) as while we were here we went through one of the worst multi day storms with hale, tornados & torrential rain the Adirondacks had seen in a very, very long time. Although our campsite was 3.5 miles from the entrance (no cell, text or WiFi - Verizon network) I can honestly say we still had an awesome and memory filled mini vacation at this still very well maintained campground. We stayed at site 253. It was a water site that was very private, in a sheltered cove on the lake that saw a lot of traffic (from a distance, didn’t affect privacy) from kayakers exploring the rocky cove and jumping out for a cooling swim in the pristine lake. All the sites are well graded, and low hanging/lose branches are well cleared, so despite two days of torrential rain, winds & hail, we weren’t waterlogged. We car camped with a clamshell tent off the back of our SUV, as the sites are RV (no hook ups) or tent/car camping only. Water spigots are located nearby most campsites and we had two very nearby, along with the standard fire pit with grate and picnic table. Our bathrooms were located nearby & are still kept immaculately clean. Full flushes and sinks, a bank of 5 or so private shower stalls (full individual rooms with metal doors with seated changing area & free hot showers) that were also immaculate and and outdoor dish washing/cleanup station. As far as cleanliness, this campground never disappoints. There is a well equipped camp store, although off high season hours are limited. Firewood & ice is available continually on an honor system payable via money box or smart phone link. Kayak and bike rentals are also available. Moffitt has a beautiful, long stretch of clean, sandy beach and swimming, besides a boat launch. Rangers patrol the area in golf carts regularly. Generator hours are strict, so generator noise wasn’t really a nuisance. There are pavilions, grill areas and bathrooms near the beach and through the campground flushes & showers. Water sites are the “hot ticket” here, so they do book up well in advance. Plan accordingly. Many people come up to this campground every summer. Moffitt is close to Charlie John’s general store where you can get just about anything from B food to gear, food offerings in town and all major roads in the area. The one caveat to camping here is there are black bear. We didn’t see any this year, but I’ve had bear encounters here in prior years. The campground has a very strict policy regarding food & garbage handling as well as food lockers if you aren’t willing to store things in your car or RV & you can be evicted for not adhering to the policy, as the Adirondack park is home to over 4000 black bear, who aren’t particularly afraid of you. Bear spray during high season might be advisable if you are an über cautious sort. The wildlife are friendly (birds, chipmunks & squirrel to mama a few) and you might seem them in your backpack or in your table enjoying your meal with you. No fear. I personally enjoy that, but just be advised if you are a camping noob to this area… Definitely will continue to return to this lovely and well maintained lakeside campground in the pines!

What a great store and quite a surprise to find it in a small town. They really seem to have everything, not just great produce but books and greetings cards, deli sandwiches made to order, camping supplies, books and souvenirs. It was clean and well organized, well lit and a joy to shop there. We were just passing through on the way to Indian Lake, but I will definitely make time to stop by there to stock up the next time I’m passing that way.

For the prices that you pay at this store they should surely have someone more friendly working at the register. The woman working at the register was so rude to myself, my husband my autistic son, the people infront of us and the people behind us in line. I will support any other local business in speculator besides this one going forward.

Our family had the best day ever on the raft with Frank as our guide! He was knowledgeable, safe, and a great instructor. He insisted on giving me the day off from Mom duties so I could enjoy the activity. He managed my 8, 10, and 14 year old kids like they were the most precious cargo, educating, requesting, and checking in with them often.

My son and I went on the whitewater rafting trip and it was fabulous. The company is very professional and accommodating for your needs. We needed to bring an insulin pump with us and they had a dry bag to store it in and we had an appointment to get to after the trip and they made sure we were on the first bus back to the store and that my son's pump was available for us as soon as we got to the store . Awesome, Awesome,Awesome!!! Here's a shout out to our guide Drew!!! He was incredible the whole trip !!! We had loads of fun on the way, and he is gifted in getting you to focus and work together in the trickier parts. He also, was great at getting everyone talking and forming a bond to be a team. He's a great guide!!! Great job from the Blue Drew Crew!!!! 5 stars and we would do it all again!!!!

I had the incredible opportunity to experience whitewater rafting with Adirondac Rafting Co., and it was nothing short of epic. Nestled in the heart of the Adirondacks, between Lake Placid and Lake George, this adventure became the highlight of our friend's wedding weekend. As a unique way to bond and kick off the celebrations, their wedding party decided to take on the wild and scenic Upper Hudson River Gorge together. Covering 15 miles of exhilarating whitewater fun through pristine wilderness, it was an experience we'll never forget. From the moment we arrived, the team at Adirondac Rafting Co. made us feel right at home. Their guides (and my friends also guides) are not just skilled; they're the cream of the crop in the industry, having a reputation for winning the Adirondack Guide Olympics. The rafts and equipment were top-notch, ensuring our safety and comfort throughout the adventure. Plus, the variety of raft sizes meant our group was perfectly accommodated, regardless of the river level that day. The journey itself was a thrilling blend of adrenaline-pumping rapids and serene moments where we could soak in the beauty of the Adirondacks. Halfway through, we stopped for a delicious riverside lunch, which was a much-needed break to relax and just enjoy the surroundings. The guide kept us entertained with stories and ensured that everyone, from first-timers to thrill-seekers, had a memorable time. Booking the trip was a breeze, with no hidden fees and straightforward communication from the company. Their location at 6440 Rt 30, Indian Lake, NY, was convenient for us and added a scenic drive to our adventure. For anyone looking to add a dash of adventure to their Adirondack visit, whether it's a family trip, a gathering of friends, or even a wedding party like ours, I can't recommend Adirondac Rafting Co. enough. The combination of skilled guides, quality equipment, and breathtaking scenery made for an epic adventure that was the perfect start to our wedding celebration

This was a fantastic experience for our whole family. Our crew of 7 had an age range of 12 to 76, and it was #1 fun for everyone. Our guide, Mac, proved a skilled leader in keeping us safe but also enjoying all the extra thrills the journey could provide. He communicated well and had a deep appreciation of the river. The day was well planned with easy bus rides back and forth to our launch and pick up and all the equipment was well maintained and smoothly distributed. We especially appreciated the ability to rent wet suits on a freakishly cold day in July. Our rafting trip was definitely a highlight of our week in the Adirondacks and we hope we can raft with them again someday.

Me and my friends went white water rafting and we were blessed to have been placed with the man, the myth, the legend: Matt. He was super chill, and an amazing guide to have. The day itself was already anticipated to be fun, and exciting but thanks to Matt our experience was heightened. He made sure we did every fun thing like "surfing", and the "widow maker" but also had a nice balance of chill flowing down the river. Prices were also super reasonable for what it came with, lunch was good, and this place definitely knows there stuff and everyone is super friendly. Thanks Matt!!

I came with my entire family- 15 of us- ages 9 to 68. The trip was AWESOME! Mo and Bob did a great job interacting with us and made the trip a true adventure. We had lots of level 3+ rapids, swimming (including swimming downstream in a rapids section!), jumping off rocks into the river and enjoying the world class gorge. Memories to last a lifetime👍

Mt Jo is a peak in the Adirondacks, towering at 2876 feet. It has two trails to reach its summit, providing scenic views of the surroundings. Although only 2 miles long, the hike can be challenging due to its steep and rocky terrain. At the top, hikers may encounter a false summit sign leading to an obstructed view of fake summit trees.
Great short hike with fantastic views of the area. The pictures are cool, but obviously nothing beats the real thing! As others have mentioned, it is well marked and maintained, with two trails that lead to the top. Short is steep, long is a bit more gradual. Great hike for first timers, adventurous young ones, pets, summit beverages, you name it! Parking can be challenging depending on time of day. If you plan to hike from this base area, get there very early in the day. Or figure out another place to park--if you know you know!

Fantastic mountain with options for both long and short trails. Moderately challenging hike with a gorgeous view waiting once you reach the top.
Afnan A — Google review
Such a great experience. We did the steep shorter hike up and the long way down. The summit is amazing. The steep path is more physical than I thought it would be and less marked so be ready for that.
Steve K — Google review
Great little hike. Well worth the climb. There are two trails to the summit. The long trail is more gradual and less steep. The short trail is a bit steeper and harder to hike. At the summit there are great views of the nearby high peaks. As well as heart lake. Mount Jo is located within the ADK mountain club. Parking is available for a fee. Please note the parking lots fill up fast.

My first mountain climb, thought I was going to die - it was hot, humid and I was not prepared; mentally or physically. Having said that, I'm so glad I pushed through and completed the trail, the summit is well worth the trek up the short route! Photos don't do it justice, I sat in awe for a while, absorbing the beauty and energy. Saved the coordinates for future climbs, but I'll bring water this time :)
Ashley D — Google review
Perfect amount of difficulty for a day hike with a great payoff. $18 to park. Views on the way up were even better than the summit imo!

Quiet a fun hike, and well-marked. Parts of the hike were a bit strenuous, but overall it was worth the wonderful views at the summit

Mt. Van Hoevenberg is a sports complex that features bobsleigh, luge and ski runs. It was built for the 1980 Winter Olympic Games and has been redeveloped since then. Visitors can enjoy a mountain coaster ride, hiking up the mountain which takes about an hour and a half but offers breathtaking views from the top, while coming down might be a bit icy.
Went there for a casual day hike. It was great. The view was very nice from the mountain top. The trail was well maintained and had stone stairs for most parts. This place also had the cutest chipmonks I had ever seen!

Who says you can’t be a kid again at 50? Riding the Mt. Van Hoevenberg sled track was like jumping straight into an Olympic daydream I’ve had since 1980! The moment that sled took off, I was grinning like a 10-year-old watching the Winter Games on a grainy TV. The speed, the curves, the rush—absolutely unreal. The crew was fantastic—professional, friendly, and just as excited as I was. For a few glorious seconds, I wasn’t a middle-aged guy with a mortgage—I was an Olympian flying down the track. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to live that dream, trust me: DO IT. You’re never too old to fly! Time line- went in the fall just as trees were changing colour which made it ready beautiful. Lots of parking and I would get a ticket online as it can be an hour wait for time slot and another hour lined up
Chris G — Google review
High Falls Gorge was very nice but it's one falls with views from several locations. Don't expect to see more than one falls. A little pricey in my opinion, although I can see it's a big investment for the pathway.
Mike L — Google review
Best-maintained trails. If you want to do a short hike, that's the place. You will have a great view at the top, and hiking on-site is free. As a bonus, you can see the bobsleigh track. They offer rides on a real bobsleigh, but it is only on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and not all year long. There's also a mountain tour on rails available. It's a clean and fun place to visit.

We had a blast. Our son hurt his ankle earlier at home and a medic team checked him out as if he was an Olympic athlete!! Melissa and Noah you ROCK!! The deck overlooking the coaster had a small bar which was helpful while we watched the boys “slide”. Excellent memories made! Bucket list checked! Perfect birthday experience for our 11 year old grandson!

We had so much fun! All the staff in the climbing room were great especially Cat who was super helpful and kind. We went on a rainy day and it was the perfect activity to do in Lake Placid. I never did it before but my friends have and we all had a great time. I was worried when I saw a lot of people in the lobby but there were other tours and things going on at the complex and they limit the number of people per hour in the climbing room so it’s very comfortable. It looks narrow but there’s actually lots of space to try different climbs. I will be back!

The location is amazing. Building is very modern and has a lot of facilities. Shopping, ticket counter, food court, seating area, etc. are all inside. Very short walk to costed and the Bobsledge. Be mi dful to download the maps to this place and from this place to your next destination. The signal is very spotty to none. My van navigation also lost signal here. Otherwise, it is a nice place to spend half a day with kids. I am not sure if the building has wifi so that you can get the route on Google before you get into the car.

We went on the legacy tour of the bob sled facility and it was absolutely amazing, you got to actually walk on the actual track, like in the corners and the starting area, so far the best tour yet! And for 15$ best deal of our vacation, such a beautiful facility and they have a nice cafe as well, we had Chilli fries and you get agiant portion for 8$ our tour guide was super nice and very knowledgeable, I would go back!

Destination for challenging hikes & views from the highest mountain peak in New York State.
It was such a two days trip for me. Spend one night approximately close to the summit. And left in foggy conditions all the way down. It’s pretty hard if you have heavy backpacks with you, specially if you want to carry it on with you. Other than that I think would be a great days I had.
Cyrus A — Google review
(Did this hike in early may) Relatively easy hike if you’re experienced and fit. Spans a longer distance depending on where you start. I started at heart lake campsite so it was about 7-8hr round trip. Conditions were harsh with thunderstorms and constant rain, but the mountain offered great views when the clouds parted for roughly 2 minutes every 3 hours (it was extremely foggy in may, with a thunderstorm hitting us hard while hiking up and down) Hands downs a great hike! It was also my first summit of a mountain! Very Memorable. The peak was great too, the metal circle (idk what it’s called) to mark the peak and centre was great! Absolutely loved it, devoured a sandwich when I got up. Though my pants were soaked: would recommend a sunny dry day for a more casual day (unless you like rain, than find a bad day and go)

This was my first hike longer than 4 hrs. We took the Von Hoevenberg Trail up. It was difficult but doable. It was a wonderful experience and the views seemed surreal.

It’s great hike but I saw lot of people underprepared for this hike and they are coming in sports shoe, no water and not suitable cloths. Mind you it’s hard level hike ….bring at least 2 liter of water and enough food or bring water filter…

What a beautiful view and relatively enjoyable hike! My wife and I hiked to the top almost three years ago and it was one of the most rewarding hikes I've ever done. Although it's not the Rockies, Sierras, or Cascades, you can't really do much better on the East Coast for vertical rise. We began from the Adriondack Loj around 6:00 AM and it was about 8 miles each way with good stops along the way at Marcy Dam and a really nice overlook about 3/4 of the way up. Trail was really easy to follow and not that bad considering the elevation gain that you get. Highly recommend!
Evan O — Google review
Fantastic hiking with tortures experience, but definitely worth it! by the way, the total length of Van Hoevenberg Trail is definitely more than 7.4 miles one way as marked due to some detours along the way, my account is about 18.5 miles round trip! The first 1/3 is pretty much flat out, you can use that as a warm-up phase, the second phase becomes a bit more challenging with boulders and rocks and steadily climbing; the final 1 mile is what really challenges you! - you can only go through it to understand what I mean!
Beijiner — Google review
Great experience. We went 6 miles but plan to do the whole hike soon. Tool our snow shoes but only needed spikes so take both if you go. A beautiful trail and hike
Jawana S — Google review
"The view belongs to those who climb". As an amateur, this was the toughest hike in my life. Started climbing Van Hoevenberg trail from Adirondack Loj at 5:45am and reached the top around 1210pm. Started descend at 1pm and reached the Adriondak Loj at 710pm. We ate lunch at the top of the mountain, it was windy and cold at the top but beautiful views. Colder than I expected for mid summer day. We climbed on a day after heavy rain so the entire path was a muddy stream. Waterproof hiking boot would be helpful. Made the mistake of carrying more water/drinks and food than I needed and making my backpack heavier than necessary. 4 - 16 Oz water bottls and some snacks and a sandwich would have been enough.

Ski/snowboard resort offering 14 lifts & 109 trails, plus rentals, lessons & on-mountain dining.
The best skiing resort in NY. Parking can get tight if you come late. Ski lifts are in good condition. Pricing on tickets are extremely pricing but if you come here with good snow and great weather you’ll be happy. For us the drive here is about 5 hours so we generally sleep in the ADK park before. Conditions here are always better than white face

Gore Mountain is hands down one of the best snowboarding destinations on the East Coast! We visited on a Friday and had a fantastic time exploring the multiple trails, all with great snow coverage. When we returned on Saturday, the weekend crowd was noticeably larger, but the wait times for the gondola and lifts were surprisingly manageable. The multiple lodges were well-equipped and efficiently staffed, while the restaurants and bars provided quick and friendly service. From the well-maintained trails to the excellent lift system and outstanding staff, Gore Mountain delivers a top-tier winter experience that’s absolutely worth the trip!
Noel A — Google review
Only did the gondola ride up to the top. The top had a wedding going on so ability to access the area was limited and this was not mentioned when buying the tickets. The tickets for $26 a piece is pricey for the experience. The trails are weird as they also have biking on them. If you want to actually get to the summit you have to hike another 1.2 miles (says takes an hour to do) so you have to plan accordingly to get to the summit.
Michael F — Google review
Visited during the harvest fest. The vendors were diverse. Could have used more food trucks as the lines were very long. The gondola ride to the top of the mountain was very nice with great views.

I love Gore! Classes are so good! I got group classes for lessons and I learned how to ski and they are a lot of adults doing so!! I love how knowledgeable instructors are and love how big it is. After 4 sessions ski lessons I’m now in bigger green area and got to enjoy something new in my life. Group classes price is not that much more than just day passes so if you don’t know how to ski it’s the best way to get into it! I love how big it is and they have multiple trails and lifts. Gore mountain staff is super super nice in General. I got some problem and they helped me a lot and can’t thank them enough. The only thing I don’t like about here is the quality of food is not good at all. There is a restaurant at the end that you need to avoid going there because you gonna have the most disgusting chickens -at least what I had- and low quality service

I just want to see and experience going to Whiteface mountain and see the fall leaves. The drive to Lake Placid is relaxing lots of nice scenery.

don't bother with the scenic sky rides. the gondolas need to be updated because they're so scratched up, you can't see the view. we were really disappointed and felt like we wasted money.

We took the day gondola to the top to catch the view. Fairly priced and nice service helping my little niece on and off the cabin. Stellar view from the top!

Revolution Rail Co. North Creek offers an exhilarating railbike adventure along the original Adirondack railroad tracks, providing various routes to explore parts of the Adirondacks in a unique way. The North Bridge Run takes you through the stunning Adirondack forest, offering breathtaking views and a chance to see the area's beauty.
We went on Friday with 2 kids and we had a great experience. It’s a must thing to do while on vacation in Lake George. The views were great. We have learned some history about the trails and President Roosevelt. Very knowledgeable and nice team!!! Thank you for making this experience unforgettable!!! We will be back next year for sure. ;)

Such a treat in North Creek! Helpful staff made the trip very easy. Four seater peddled by 3 people and it was easy. There were great views of the Hudson River & forest. Families with small kids, they have harnesses to strap in the kids. All other passengers have a lap belt. Some picnic tables at the half way point. If you're the first cart, you'll have time for a very quick snack.

Wow, what a great experience! Revolution Rail North Creek is an amazing attraction along the Hudson River in North Creek. We went on the South River Run, which takes you south along the Hudson to the ending point where there are picnic tables and a short hike down to the river. The South River Run is about 8 miles out and back, taking about 2 hours. The station you depart from is really cool with a gift shop, restrooms, and some stuff to do outside while you're waiting. There is also the North Bridge Run, which I did not do this time. The rail bikes themselves are decently easy to pedal and easy for all ages. And I can't forget to mention the tour guides, as they were absolutely amazing. They stay in front and in the back of the group, and then at the ending point tell you some history and awnser questions. They were all great. I highly recommend Revolution Rail North Creek if you want a fun experience in the Adirondacks!

I think sometimes people forget they’re paying for an experience not to mention multiple staff members livings! I feel the price for what we got was expected! My boyfriend and I were road tripping from Missouri and this was our last stop! The staff was great and even took photos of you at certain stopping points which is something so appreciated! This has been on my bucket list for so long. Would highly recommend! (We also saw a bear!)

Must do when visiting Lake George, NY. Our multi generation group, spanning in age from one to 70+ years young, enjoyed our South River Run tour. Beautiful scenery, fun atmosphere and excellent history lesson on the excursion. Highly recommend!

This is an absolute must if you are in the Adirondacks. We did the North bridge run and we had so much fun. Friendly guides, beautiful scenery, fresh mountain air, and learned some history about the area. It is definitely exercise (fun exercise) especially to the half way point but the way back was much easier . We even coasted without peddling at times. There's a basket on the back of the car to bring a small cooler and they take a photos for you if you have your cell phone. We are Definitely doing this again when we come back. Great family experience! Would love to see this expand to WNY or the southern tier area of NY so we could do it more often!

An absolutely wonderful experience through Hadley, NY. The views are beautiful, we encounter a few deer and other wildlife across the way. The rail itself is breathtaking, and the experience was 100% worth every penny. The rail guides are super helpful, informative and kind.

Great experience while visiting lake George, of course the morning we pre-booked in early October was in the low 30s, luckily they sold gloves in the office. Staff was great, very knowledgeable and friendly. Will be checking out their other locations in the Adirondacks as well as other states. Want to try the Hadley trail to pedal over the 90ft high trestle bridge. A++

Scenic, riverside hiking area featuring grottos, lighted caves & waterfalls, plus guided tours.
My wife loves exploring caves and we went on an adventure. Natural Stone Bridge and Caves such an amazing place to visit and explore. Walking through the caves and seeing massive stone bridges was both fun and exciting. The trails were beautiful and full of cool spots to discover and the whole experience was a mix of adventure and relaxation. One of my favorite parts was sitting by the slow moving river with my wife, which made everything feel so peaceful. Definitely a must see!

Nice hiking area. Good for the whole family. Lots of rocks to check out and Plenty of activities for the kids. You might want to bring your own food if you plan to stay a while. There's only one small snack shack. Only one area for bathrooms too, which for me was not ideal. You don't actually get to go deep inside the caves, except for one small area where the water comes in.

We brought our grandchildren ages eight and six to the attraction. They were in love and appreciated the natural beauty. This place has to offer. The terrain is a little challenging for elderly people, so be prepared to watch your step! But every step is worth while. It is a natural beauty not to be missed. And don’t forget your ice cream at the store at the corner of Route nine as a reward!

We enjoyed our time at Natural Stone Bridge and Caves. Some steps were steep so it’s good to hold on to the railings. The map was pretty easy to follow to see all of the view stops. We bought a geode and got it popped. It was pretty cool. They didn’t just sell stuff and take your money. The guys in the shop took the time to explain how the geodes are formed, where they are from, and what colors of crystals might be found before buying them.

The staff's service and assistance were truly exceptional. The trail's pristine condition, free of any litter, was certainly noteworthy. Moreover, the paths are well-maintained and appropriate for those new to the activity, with clear markings that help to prevent any confusion. The scenic views were also quite impressive.

Really amazing caves and rock formations. Stone steps, wooden bridges and handrails to use if you need to. Very nicely done . My family loved it. I'm a senior citizen with some hip issues and I had no problem navigating the trail. They have free walking sticks that you can use. A lovely gift shop and a Mining activity for the kids. I'd go back again.

Family friendly with well maintained wooden walk way making a loop around all the water landforms. When the water level is low you can walk onto the river bed to see some potholes. We went on labor day and it was not busy. Spent around 1.5 hours there.

Incredible experience! It was a full day trip. From about 9:30-3:30. They provided us with a lunch half way through & transportation to and from the site. The views down the river were something i will never forget. I’ve been many places around the world, yet the scenery & peace that came with this adventure was one of a kind. The crew works as a team and their sense of humor is funny lol.

A big thank you to our guide Mike ( dressed as Cody from "Surf's Up")! While some of our group has experienced trips with Wild Waters before, you made our trip enjoyable for all! We had a blast on the river with you. Thanks for a memorable day with our family! We highly recommend trips with Wild Waters Outdoor Center. We have been enjoying trips with them for over 10 years.

This was such a fun incredible family experience. Our raft guide Maddy was phenomenal- from her knowledge of the area, her patience and her fun light hearted jokes the whole time that made everyone crack up. 10/10 recommend going and requesting Maddy as your guide. Thank you guys for an awesome time.

What a blast! Our guide Caden was such a fun time, super cool and easy to talk to. We enjoyed getting to know part of the team as well: we witnessed Sophia paddle her heart out and play bumper boats with her raft. 🚣‍♀️ Tatiana needs a raise for the comedy stand up performance 🎤 while explaining the safetey rules. 🦺 Andy is a baddie on raft and on wheels. ⛑️🚍 Bro lives up to the coolness of his name. 😎 Marty... what a guy! 🤓 And so many other amazing souls that helped make this a memorable experience. ✨️ If this is your first time, you can trust your guides' training and knowledge to get you through in a safe manner while still catching some action. From swimming in the river, to jumping off rocks, and so many other ways your guide interacts with the group. I came all the way from Utah for this, and it did not disappoint. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being the highlight of my Adirondack trip!

Great experience. First time with this company on same river. Matt K was our tour guide. Entertaining. And a nice hit with the rapids, while still feeling safe. Kids were 9+11 yo. Would recommend over the others in the area. Helmets for kids under 12 and they let them use their own paddle. Nice to be able to swim in the water as well.

We visited Schroon lake Mid January 2025. This was the first time I saw entire lake frozen!! The temperature was around -7C.. and on average the temperature was dropping to -14/-15C. There was plenty of parking available. We saw people camping around. We also witnessed folks doing Ice-Fishing. It was fun to walk on frozen lake.

Our grandkids loved swimming in Schroon Lake . They loved the waves made from the passing boats. The water was clear and beach area was well maintained. It was also very pretty .

This place is amazing!! The scenery is unbelievable beautiful!! The beach is clean and people are great at keeping their distance. The restaurants are close by. The facilities are there but needs a good clean. The small playground are great for families with small kids. Easy to get to since the parking is right by the beach.

Small sandy beach with a beautiful view even on a dark overcast late autumn 🍁 day. It is surrounded by a lovely town park with benches and a few picnic tables, grass that slopes down to the beach with well maintained sidewalks and steps, all with great views. It's about 7 minutes off of highway I 87.
Margaret K — Google review
Great side trip off the highway to get out and stretch your legs! Public restrooms are basic park bathrooms, there is a paved walking path, and there are plenty of benches. The was a cute small playground for kids. The public beach was nice to walk along to dip your feet in the water. The swimming area was roped off to protect swimmers from boaters and there were two lifeguards on the beach.
T F — Google review
Love this place! So peaceful and not a big crowd. Great little beach for a swim and a few places in town to eat and grab ice cream as well. Hidden gem upstate! There’s even Adirondack chairs on the beach so lots of seating available.
B. V — Google review
Wide beach area that accommodates 500 (evidently). Stairs or road ramp down to sand but gorgeous grassy area above. Small playground up there with a pirate ship. Bathrooms very clean. Picnic tables scattered or do like most and bring chairs. Town is a block away with a coffee shop and more but I was happy with the coffee shop because Todd got me a bagel with Nutella.
Jennie G — Google review
Beautiful beach, very close to Main Street so restaurant and shops are close by. Good nice and clean public beach not very big and log beach , parking is very close so you don’t have to walk a lot to get to beach.

Prospect Mountain, a beloved landmark in the Lake George region, offers stunning panoramic views of the area. Whether you choose to hike or drive up the mountain, you'll be treated to breathtaking scenery along Veterans Memorial Highway. The 3-mile steep climb is rewarded with picture-perfect vistas and a glimpse of the historic Prospect Mountain Cable Incline Railway. Families may prefer the easier Black Mountain trail nearby. Plus, seniors with valid New York State identification can enjoy free vehicle access on weekdays.
You honestly can’t beat the view from Prospect Mountain- absolutely breathtaking. It’s the kind of place that makes you pause and just take it all in. Feels so raw, untouched, and peaceful. Whether you hike or drive up, the reward at the top is the same: pure beauty. A must-visit if you’re in the area!

It was a sudden decision to go on a trip to Lake George, but before that, we thought of visiting Prospect Mountain. With that instant decision, the journey began. It was a fairly long drive, and as we drove up the mountain, the beauty of the hills kept captivating us more and more. Surrounded by enchanting scenery, the higher we climbed the towering mountain, the stronger the feeling of joy became. On that sunny afternoon, looking down at the lake from such a height felt truly magical. The speedboats gliding across the water looked like white swans, and the interplay of sunlight and clouds created a fascinating dance of light and shadow. It felt as though we were wandering in some fairytale kingdom. If possible, I would have loved to stay there the entire day, immersed in that breathtaking beauty.

Breathing taking view of beautiful lake George and Adirondack mountain ranges. It’s one of the best places to visit fall colors too. You can hike upto the summit and it’s accessible via car too. There is no parking at the summit, it’s just a pick up and drop off point. However, the parking lot is 10 mins hike , but it’s a steep slope, won’t advise for someone with knee issues. There are benches and shed at top for a good picnic. A must visit place if you are visiting Lake George.
Pratik B — Google review
The view is beautiful, worth the time. The trail is 2-3 miles long but there is a road for people that simply don't want to take the trail route. There are 4 overlooks for cars and a parking on the fourth included on entrance (10$). There when you park it is clear where to go to the fifth outlook easily being the best one. There are some trees here and there blocking the view but there are easy go arounds for that making it a must see attraction when visiting Lake George.

Fort William Henry Museum, originally constructed in 1755, is a legendary British fort that played a significant role in the French and Indian War. The museum offers two tour options: a general history tour where visitors can learn about the area's history and interact with costumed reenactors, and a ghost tour featuring spooky sights and stories of supernatural encounters.
It was a great recreation of the original fort. It has a lot of great exhibits. Living historians there to give you demonstrations and information. Very great detail throughout the entire fort. Explaining living conditions, hospital care, and the different jobs others would complete throughout their time there.

Drop into and experience 1755. The Tour Guides are very knowledgeable and have a good wit. For accessibility there are some areas that are difficult to traverse and some buildings that have stairs only access. I did not feel as though I missed out on anything during my visit. They do have a staff operated outdoor elevator so those in wheelchairs can access the fort walls. You're ticket is good for 2 days so you have plenty of time to explore.

One of the best forts I have ever been to. Just visited this place as a spur of the moment visit while traveling through back home from Maine to Ohio. This place does not disappoint. The guides who also do reenactments and demonstrations were very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. Would love to go back someday.

A beautiful place, and by beautiful I mean the attention, the decoration, the ambiance. Live music, country, with excellent service. The girl who attended me was very, very professional and friendly. I particularly recommend the Sacandaca Sunset wine as a red wine and Melody as a white wine option. Thank you for such a beautiful experience.

I recently attended a Winery in the Woods private event for my friend’s bachelorette party. We were warmly greeted by our driver/host, Kevin, who escorted our group by hay wagon to the secluded site in the woods. Every detail was perfectly curated from the impressive charcuterie board to the selection of wines. Our wine expert, Lynn, stayed to tell us about each wine, pour drinks and make us feel especially welcome. We had two guests arrive late and Kevin brought them by golf cart to meet our party. We also ordered food from Giuseppe's in town. Kevin brought the food to our site for no extra charge. Surrounded by a beautiful brook, rock ledges, a fire pit and nature, we had the perfect backdrop to celebrate our bride-to be. I highly recommend having Ledge Rock Hill Winery provide the setting for your next special event!

The park is falling into disrepair. Many rides were closed when we visited at the end of July (the height of the season, everything should be working). Some of the rides and decorations are clearly getting the minimal amount of upkeep. Paint is flaking badly on the bottom of the pools and they should’ve been stripped and repainted long ago. The decorative lights on many of the rides weren’t working at all. The layers of dust and grime make the rides look pretty shabby. They’re painting the old story town stuff to make it look nice, but I don’t think anyone really cares about that. I think the word has gotten out to the rest of the public too. Lines for the rides were short, which helped offset our general disappointment with the place. It was still a fun day with the kids, but we’ve decided that we’re probably not going back again. There are better amusement parks that only require a slightly longer drive. There are tons of better water parks. The prices have gotten so high that this is no longer a good entertainment value.
Eric G — Google review
Great just please clean the pools. I had a ton of band-aides coming flying with the waves in the wave pool. Also hair . I love the wave pool please keep it clean 😊 prices could go down with the food , also shouldn’t have to wait 4 hours between meals with the passes ! Please have life guard on duty at the bottom of the kids water slide near the wave pool. We do love the atmosphere & all the attractions for the littles especially with timber town and the water park is our absolute favorite for the kiddos ! Hot tub needed for adults 🤣
Nichole N — Google review
A great place for families. A little pricey but that's the world these days, the reusable cups are definitely worth the buy. The water park is the best part. Bathrooms were as clean as they could be with so many people in and out of them, maybe they should hire a few more maintenance people. Otherwise a pretty good time and Martha's is right across the street!
Brianna P — Google review
Other than more than a few rides being closed for maintenance, it was a good time. The bees are horrible at the drink and food stands though. My partner got stung so if you have a bee allergy stay away from sugary drinks and bring your own food.

We attended on a day of fright fest. Several rides weren't open which was disappointing. As I watched the change over to fright fest I was disappointed. I was surprised to see characters walk up behind people, especially smaller children and just scream. I've been coming to the Great Escape for decades and have never witnessed this before during fright fest. I didn't find this behavior scary or frightening, it was annoying and somewhat cruel, which isn't what fright fest is about. I will say some of the costumes and makeup were outstanding.
Betzy K — Google review
Really went downhill quick this year. Many of the popular rides have been out of service (seemingly) for much of the season and the workers are very unpleasant. I will not be renewing my family's season tickets for 2026 as I'm being asked to pay full price for a 1/3 to 2/3 of this theme park with zero refunds or perks.

Had to go to 4 different places to get my sodas and then on top of it my mom had fallen and nobody did anything. Woman running ride didn't come over to check and ride almost hit my mom in the face. Oh and then there's the fact that their response was to "increase training" no mention of what they could do to fix it for us. I highly discourage you from going if you're disable as they won't do anything to help you if you get hurt in any way

Nestled on the eastern shore of Lake George, Shelving Rock Falls is a stunning 50-foot waterfall that captivates visitors with its natural beauty. The journey to this picturesque cascade involves a moderate hike along a wide dirt trail that meanders through lush woodlands and alongside serene lake views. Spanning about a mile each way, the trek is perfect for novice hikers and families looking for an outdoor adventure.
We got there about 1040am and parked in lot #2. There are bathrooms there. Go before you hike down. The trailhead is down part parking lots #1. Walk down about .4 mile and you'll hear the falls. Stop and take some pics but don't make that your final stop. Continue walking all the way down til you come to a fork in the trail. Turn right. You'll cross some stream beds. The bridge is not there anymore. Continue on to the lake. You'll find some rocks. You can walk to a flatter portion to walk right into Lake George. It's beautiful! Clear waters! Just gorgeous! Bring some floats and a picnic! Remember to bring your trash out.

Nice view of the Falls. Getting to Parking area is a long 20 minute drive on unpaved road. Path to Falls is well marked. Footpath is easy but some early parts require walking on rocks. Path leads to top of Falls; getting to the bottom requires some steep descents. May not be appropriate for those who are not sure-footed. Continuing on the Red path for about 10 minutes leads to a nice view of Lake George from the East Shore (though there is no clear place to sit and relax).

Beautiful waterfall in a beautiful area. Definitely worth checking out if you are anywhere nearby. Not a long walk to reach it and not particularly difficult either, though the very beginning of the trail by the road requires crossing over quite a few rocks which may be more difficult for some than others.

Wonderful short hike to falls but if you keep going to end up by the bays that all the boaters like to hang out at. Pretty cool site to see. Recommend!

Amazing and stunning view of the falls. A short hike there too. My only complaint is the lack of markings to find the falls. There was a tiny sign on the left that is easy to be missed while driving. Had to ask others who were following people who have already been there before.

Our purpose was to enjoy the beauty of the waterfall. Since we arrived a bit late, it was getting dark. However, as soon as we approached the waterfall, the surroundings became illuminated, and the sound of the cascading water felt truly peaceful.

This Hikikg experience is one I never forget. Did the entire red trail. It was intense, physical & beautiful worth the trek. Highly recommend anyone who loves hiking trails. On my "visit again list".

Great little walk and hike down a hillside. Gorgeous waterfall. There's no marked trail down to the waterfall just need to find your path

Star Trek Original Series Set Tour

Tours
Immerse yourself in the world of Star Trek at the Star Trek Original Series Set Tour, located near Fort Ticonderoga. This tour offers an exact reconstruction of the original series' sets, allowing fans to walk through replicas of the iconic starship Enterprise and other familiar locations from the 1960s television series. The attention to detail is remarkable, with even objects from the original pilot episode on display.
Amazing!!! Absolutely amazing!!! Many of us have seen every episode countless times, and we had seen pictures of this studio set, but nothing replaces the feeling you get when standing there, "inside" the Enterprise!! Ashley was our tour guide, and she was great. She truly loves her job, and constantly asked us if we were having a good time. We did the "Photo Tour", so had a more private tour (Thank you again, Ashley!!!). If you're a Star Trek fan, this is a "Must-Do". If you are able, definitely go for the upgrade to a Photo Tour, as the experience will be that much more unique and memorable vs the regular tour done in groups.

I did the tour with some friends from Austin on 8/27/25 with David Gerrold giving the tour and it was fantastic. His knowledge of the show made the tour so interesting and all the stories he had from his time working there was great to hear. James Cawley has done an absolutely fantastic job of recreating the sets and it was just amazing being able to walk through them and to sit on the bridge of the Enterprise and watch The Trouble with Tribbles episode on the Main Viewer.

WARNING: Do not attempt a game of Star Trek trivia with the tour guide. Seriously, he is that good, and you will lose. This museum, unassumingly housed in what feels almost like a strip mall building, is a wonderful, nostalgic ride through the way-back machine for those of us old enough to remember the first episodes aired on television sixty years ago. It is also a revealing look into the short-cuts and creative, cost-saving set-building techniques employed in a weekly show that needed to stay on budget and on schedule. I stood on the bridge of the starship Enterprise and marveled at how the crew created a show so rich with sets and props, despite the modesty of their resources. The tour itself was fun, and the tour guide was friendly and endlessly knowledgeable. It is nice to see the set of this iconic, ground-breaking show live on and shared with the Next Generation. (See what I did there? Ahaha...)

Absolutely amazing! The museum is an exact replica of the different sites on the Starship Enterprise. Our tour guide on that date (August 20 at 2:15 PM), was a lovely young woman who was extremely knowledgeable about all things Star Trek. If you enjoyed the TV series, you will love this museum.

My wife described my face like a kid in a candy store. The photo tour is vastly underpriced in my opinion. You will not find a better value in this or any other fandom experience. Our guide was so knowledgeable and accommodating. The lobby itself was amazing with many screen used items that you could reach out and touch (but don’t). Words fail me with how cool it was. Thank you Mr. Cawley for this experience!

How fun was that! OMG... A must do for a Treky Many original set pieces for the original series And it is the bridge from the original series! And you get to sit in the captains chair! Great fun. We had a wonderful guide. I'm really pleased to have gone and experienced this

What an awesome place. I’m 57 and watched Star Trek reruns as a kid. Never thought I would be able to experience seeing the original sets. Thank you to everyone who made this possible. The tour was fantastic. I didn’t want to leave the bridge LOL. We booked the photo tour (Highly recommend) Tim was a great tour guide. We plan on coming back in November to see William Shatner.

This is no trademark rip; Paramount was so impressed with owner James's attention to detail in re-creating TOS sets that it made this museum official. The re-creations include real artifacts wherever possible and intricate replicas when not, some so good they were used in throwback episodes on the newer shows. The fully integrated sets are constructed according to 1960s original plans. Your guide has derp knowledge and shares entertainment history and anecdotes enthusiastically. This place is a blast, a phaser blast! Nit sharing interior photos bc you've got to see it for yourself. Buy tickets for reserved entry in touristic seasons.

Hiking area
Mount Defiance is a significant attraction near Fort Ticonderoga, offering visitors a glimpse into Revolutionary War history. Access to the site is included in the admission fee for Fort Ticonderoga. The area provides stunning views that highlight the strategic importance of this location during the revolutionary war. Visitors can also enjoy guided historical tours and storytelling sessions by reenactors from Fort Ti, making it an engaging experience for history enthusiasts.
Great historical place with a lot of great people dressed in period clothing who knows the history well. If you're interested in the French & Indian or Revolutionary Wars then this needs to be on your list. Programs that give a glimpse into the daily lives, musket & canon demonstrations are made interesting. Place to eat on site. We also went to the top of Mount Defiance and will be doing the boat ride to end our day!

A great "add on" that is included with the admission to Fort Ticonderoga in which they give you a coin to open the gate & allow access to drive up to the lookout on top which overlooks the Fort & Lake Champlain below. Bring a picnic, some binoculars, hike around & learn more about the history of the area!
Nathan J — Google review
Outstanding views! Short easy hike to top if you have the token from FT Ticonderoga. Drive most of the way up and walk the last 2000 feet or so. Would love to bring a hammock and camp up top!

Mount Defiance was a highlight of our visit to the Ticonderoga area. The climb to the top was short but steep — and 100% worth it. Once you reach the summit, the views are breathtaking. You get an incredible panoramic look at Lake Champlain, the surrounding mountains, and Fort Ticonderoga below. There’s a small pavilion at the top, perfect for resting and taking in the scenery. Whether you hike or drive up, the payoff is amazing. A must-do if you’re in the area and want both beauty and a touch of history!
Baiba G — Google review
Great view of lower Lake Champlain and Fort Ticonderoga. Hard to imagine how the British were able to haul cannons up this steep, heavily wooded mountain. But obvious how easily the Fort could have been taken over when you are up there. Nice that this has been created and well maintained.

After touring the fort, it is well worth the drive into town to visit Mount Defiance. Amazing, panoramic view of the lake, the fort and the surrounding fields and forests. All with the Green Mountains in the distance. One of the best views I've ever seen. We had a hot, sunny day with no rain and clear skies, but I'm sure it's impressive in any conditions. (If you visit the fort first, you get a token with your admission to use to access the gate into Mount Defiance. However, the gate/kiosk takes other forms of payment, so you don't have to have a token.)

Incredible views from the top. Written directions on brochure weren’t very thorough. Google maps worked perfectly.

Great Eastern View of The Champlain Valley. 10$ to go up unless you paid to get into Fort Tigo.

Fort Ticonderoga

Sights & Landmarks
Active during 2 wars, this 18th-century fort features reenactments, gardens & a weapons collection.
We enjoyed how expansive the grounds are. You can enjoy the exhibits and not feel crowded. We enjoyed walking through the brick lined gardens. We were fortunate enough to see a cannon demonstration which our daughter loved. Definitely visit the little farm stand and grab some of their veggies or herbs. My daughter ate the whole bag of fresh peas we bought.

I really wanted to enjoy this place more, as there are a lot of things to see and do. But I'm restricted by my power wheelchair from going to a lot of interesting parts of the old fort. Still, I enjoyed the view, the nice gift shop, and the pleasant people always willing to help. During my visit on July 30, some reconstruction efforts were underway on a Fort wall. This is a great place for families with school-age children. But even this 73-year-old is impressed at the history here! George Washington, Ethan Allen, Benedict Arnold...!

Fort Ticonderoga is a gem. Well kept, with lots of cannons. There are a few employees in colonial clothing to help interpret what we were seeing. The stories are fascinating and it's amazing how many revolutionary figures passed through that fort. No real crowds the day we visited. Easy parking. Easy access. And, a great experience. I should add... There is a well stocked gift shop and a dine in eatery in the visitor center. So.... It's easy to just show up and enjoy

My son and I went today for the 250th anniversary! We got to see history come to life! Hard to describe how fun it is to see reinactnentments of our country and the true perspective of life back in 1770s. History is beautiful. The fort is in great condition and all the demonstrations we saw, the stories we took part in were great! Live animals too! Grounds are beautiful and well kept. There is an elevator in the newest exhibit as well for handicap access 🤘 There is a cafe and restaurant on site! Thank god! And the food was really good! I got the mount defiance. A turkey club but in a full sandwich. Perfect. The raspberry lemonade is also, excellent. My son got a root beer float! Good service and fun views.

This visit was a nostalgic moment. I had come here in 1975 This 2025 visit was an opportunity to see the changes and improvements made to the exhibits. It was fantastic! You must make time to see the King’s Garden. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. I really enjoyed my time here.
David B — Google review
Interesting history lesson and great reenactments. Make sure you watch the canon firing. Interestingly, historians now think the original fort was made of wood, not stone, so what you are visiting is entirely inaccurate. Fun, nonetheless.

I had a Great Time here. Not everywhere was accessible with my powerchair but I definitely did not feel like I was missing out on anything. Huge Gift Shop. Just about everything on open ground level is packed gravel. My powerchair did not have any difficulty with it. There are a few raised stone areas in the Fort tunnel entrance that could be a potential trouble spot for some. Assistance is readily available if not by the staff, fellow travelers were always offering. I had one offer to push me up the final go at Mt. Defiance!

Fort Ticonderoga exceeded all expectations! The guided tours were incredibly engaging—our guide brought the Revolutionary War history to life with vivid storytelling and deep knowledge. You could really feel the layers of history in every corner of the fort. The King’s Garden was absolutely stunning—peaceful, colorful, and perfectly maintained. It felt like stepping into a hidden sanctuary. And the views of Lake Champlain from both the garden and the fort walls? Breathtaking. Don’t miss the café either—it was a surprise highlight. The food was excellent, and sitting out on the patio with a view of the lake made it even better. Whether you’re into history, nature, or just looking for a beautiful, enriching day trip, Fort Ticonderoga delivers on all fronts. Highly recommend!
