Featuring a natural hot-springs pool, this park also offers trails, a campground & picnic spots.
They are amazing. Only 1.5 hours per session but that was enough for me. They are set deep in the mountains and even have a cool pool to dip in should you get too hot. The hot springs were about 104 degrees. Toasty!
Don B — Google review
Great spot for a soak in a pool fed by a natural hot spring! I love to go here in the winter when the cold air provides a nice contrast to the hot water. Be sure to make a reservation in advance (has to be at least 48h) to ensure you get a spot. The reservation fee does not include parking, which is free if you have a CA state parks pass but $8 if not. There are two pools, one hot and one cool. The water in both pools is lightly treated, the hot one with bromine and the cool one with chlorine. No smell from either pool though (of sulfur or chlorine). The park that the pools are in is located in a gorgeous valley that in the winter is surrounded by snowy mountains and meadows. The lifeguards are very friendly and knowledgeable! There are simple but functional and clean women’s and men’s changing rooms with one shower and one bathroom each. There is also an outdoor shower, and a drinking water fountain. I brought my kids who are 6 and 4 and the pools are big enough that the kids were able to play and have fun in one area without disturbing other bathers.

Absolutely beautiful setting. Wish we could had stayed at the state park campground- but at 30ft we are too long. After driving around we understand why. The day use picnic area is really nice. Nice they allow dogs also (on leash). The park worker was super hopeful!

Absolutely beautiful. I recently revisited this place and it was just like how I remembered it when I was a kid. I used to go to school in Alpine County when my mom worked for a local attorneys office and we came here often. Today, yes, it is reopened from the fire. If you want to visit please make a reservation online! You have to plan it at least two weeks in advance or more. I think they take walk-ins, but I wouldn’t risk it. You also have to pay an $8 parking fee, but it’s also access to the whole state park, not just the pool/spring. The rangers are all super friendly and fun to chat with. Jen was very sweet and even offered to spare some water because I forgot to bring some and I was feeling faint from the temp differences when I was getting out of the spring. Please bring bottled water or at least a cup! They have a water-dispenser available. They have bathrooms and showers, so also bring your own towels. I recommended coming in with your swim clothes on. Sessions are 1.5hours, but always welcome to leave sooner. No food or drinks, but they will allow you to exit and re-enter if you want to go out to your car or eat, etc. They also have cubbies to store your items. Thank you CA State Parks preserving this sacred, Native, land.

Awesome place and my first hot spring experience. Only snag was that the gate attendant said I wasn’t on the register at first, and then said the “credit card machine” was down so bring cash for the day use parking as a backup. Water was warm and you can definitely feel the sediment. I was a bit apprehensive they allowed children in the hot pool but they weren’t a problem and were quiet. Cold pool was nice to stretch out as the hot pool got cramped. Hiked to the waterfall beforehand and everything was well marked great meadow hike and interpretive signs. Will be back again sometime! The older gentleman at the pool explained a few of the features and about the sediment which I was shocked! See the picture attached. It didn’t phase me but it’s definitely not crystal clear water lol.
Hutch K — Google review
The hot spring pool opens Thur-Sun all year around. The booking system is tricky. Try a date between 3-14 days. We booked the slot 3:30 - 5 PM on Sunday 9/22/24. I was the only one on the list. But when we got there it was a full pool (40 limit). The pools are well maintained. The temp in the hot pool was comfortable if your feet are not around the spray. The pool side has some yellowish stuff. A few people were skittish about it. It is likely due to iron /silica mineral deposit by sulfate, hydroxide or oxide or algae. The pool is drained daily after closing. So it should not be a problem. The water gives a great feel during and after. This could easily be the most reasonable hot spring in California at $10 for entrance and $10/person for 1.5 hr. We camped in Grover park after soaking. The campground is a great facility with large sites and clean restrooms. It was pretty empty, 1/3 filled of the 1 site opened. The night was peaceful. Stargazing is a joy! We took a short hike the evening and next morning. The forest scenery is average due to previous fires. The meadow looks wonderful during sunrise.
James T — Google review
Nice hot pool and cold pool. Honestly, have been spoiled with other more luxury hot springs. The staff were very nice, and it would be terrific to hit at night and stargaze.
Chris S — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place but at 55 per guest , no towels, and the lady that works the counter said they cool it off by mixing in regular water but couldn't tell us what regular water ,just its not meneral water .

Kirkwood Mountain Resort

Ski resort
Outdoor Activities
Nestled in the mountains, Kirkwood Mountain Resort offers spacious condos, dining options, and access to winter and spring activities like skiing and hiking. Situated at nearly 10,000 feet above sea level, the resort is a haven for downhill skiing, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing with an average of 354 inches of annual snowfall. As the snow melts away, Kirkwood transforms into a playground for mountain biking and hiking.
One of my fav ski resorts in North America. Very big mountain, a lot of trails and not too crowded. Back bowls are my favorite area. Very long challenging black trails. I just wish they had more lodges or bigger lodges at the top of the mountain. The two elk lodge is always super packed during lunch hours. Literally no single seat available, people were sitting on the floor and underneath the bar counters lol
Fiona — Google review
Stopped by Kirkwood to get in an autumn hike. While the drive from Sacramento was both beautiful and fun, it unfortunately rained the whole duration of our visit to Kirkwood. With that being said, we were only able to get 40 to 45 minutes of hiking in sticking mainly to the Snowkirk trail out and back. As we made our way across the trail I did notice that the terrain at the top of the mountain off the Wall lift looks fantastic for expert level skiers. While there isn't much of a base village or things to do after a day of hiking or skiing, we would still love to ski here too someday, the terrain looks outstanding!
A R — Google review
Love this place for skiing. Beautiful and fun. Most of the lifts are old style, too fast, and sometimes challenging to navigate with kids. Parking is also a bit of a challenge (though reservations help).
Jelena ( — Google review
Beautiful alpine ski slopes even in the middle of April, excellent for both novice and advanced skiers. Lots of food options and no parking problems. Reserve in advance when possible.
Denis A — Google review
Medium sized ski resort during the winter. We always have 4 people in the car so free parking with reservation, otherwise you need to go after noon or it's $20. Free shuttle that runs from one end of the frontside to the other. We usually ski the backside unless it's too windy or snowy (low visibility) and slippery ice. 24/25 was my first season. Harder than northstar which I only went to once in april? but easier than park city (utah). This ski resort is on the epic pass and I only came on weekends. Timber creek area on the right if you face the mountain is the beginner area. Food lodge with lockers and bathrooms at the bottom. It'll probably be where I'll be spending most of my time this season. Snow usually leaves a lot to be desired because of climate change. I got one day of powder last season out of 15-ish days.
Kathleen C — Google review
Beautiful area, winter or summer. 2300 skiable acres with a variety of skill levels, Kirkwood is an enjoyable area without the heavy Tahoe traffic. In the summer, Beautiful hikes, lakes close by and more secluded then some areas.
Derek B — Google review
I drove 6 hours to take a week's vacation with my family. We arrived very tired, we wanted to take a bath and rest, the bathtub was super dirty, we went down to take a bath in the hot tube and it doesn't work and the area is very dirty. I'm sharing some photos so that if you are going to book in this place, be careful.
Elvia H — Google review
Kirkwood Mountain Resort is a great spot for a snow day. The slopes are well-maintained, with options for all skill levels. Parking is simple and convenient, which makes getting there easy. The restaurant serves good food to warm you up, and the overall vibe is friendly. Definitely worth visiting!

Joy here. We love the workers there; mom and I go on Ladies' Day. Always have fun and sometimes win. Now we are so sad that they are closing. Really a shame. Wind Creek : shame on you

Most fun place ever. Love to win but don't mind losing sometimes. The people that run this place are fantastic. Friendly, helpful and make sure you have a good time. Love the free food too. Johnette Burton

Katliyn, is rude! Horrible customer service skills. It was almost as if she was being forced to work there. Food was not very good. Son ordered a well done steak and she rudely replied, "you know that's gonna take an extra 15 min!" Was highly disappointed in this place.
Rene S — Google review
Bartender was very unfriendly. Got up to go to the restroom. Found that after leaving my players card in and money in the machine. An employee still came and removed my stuff. Probably won't return! Being a local and frequent to the casinos. Worst experience ever.
Michael L — Google review
This casino offers a lot of incentives to attract players, which even non-players or strictly "nominal players" can take advantage of. Weekly free buffet and twice weekly free breakfast are pretty significant, in my opinion. I cannot judge what gaming payoffs might be, but those with me today had no complaints.
Edward S — Google review
I want to say thank you to Deanna . After you told me the news , I started yapping about my work just to keep breathing . Please pass on " via con dios " ...and please let her know that I wished she had told me . . and I still will bee hoping for another chance somewhere down the road.

I walked into gen store while filling up my vehivke with gas. Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort

Ski resort
Nature & Parks
Tahoe's third-largest ski area with 2,000+ acres of slopes & 200+ acres of backcountry trails.
Sierra-at-Tahoe is an awesome ski resort! My daughter and I went the day after Christmas after not snowboarding for 4 years, and it was such a great experience. This is where my daughters first learned to snowboard, so it was exciting to come back. The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. Even though the weather was cloudy, with light snow falling and windy, the snow conditions were surprisingly good, and we had a fantastic time. The resort is perfect for families, with plenty of easy and intermediate runs that are great for all skill levels. It’s also super convenient, only about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Sacramento. I will definitely return! Highly recommend it for a fun and family-friendly snowboarding or skiing trip.
Lydia C — Google review
This place is great for beginners and it definitely takes the ease and stress out of first time skiers like myself. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I wish the food was healthier and had better choices, but I am happy they serve salad, espresso Martini and beer on tap. My husband had a burger and I had a turkey sandwich with broccoli soup. The soup did not sit well in my belly and so I will just bring my own packed lunch in the future.
Poppy L — Google review
2000 acres of bliss! Staff is always friendly, mountain is a great mix for all skiers, parking isn't to far from the lifts, unless it's a full day, then a little further but not bad. Food is really good at the 3 eating areas!
Derek B — Google review
Sierra-at-Tahoe was such a cool resort! My girlfriend and I stopped by here for 2 hours, we are touring all the different Ikon resorts in California. We skied out right from the car and went into the mountain bowl, right to the lift! Lovely fast express lifts, beautiful mountains, and nice groomed trails. Was an amazing place to ski for everyone of all levels, highly recommend coming here if you have an Ikon Pass. Awesome!
Dennis G — Google review
I visited Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort on January 11, 2025, and attended the 10:00 AM adult skiing class with Craig as my instructor. It was an incredible experience from start to finish! Craig was an outstanding instructor—knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly skilled. He broke down the techniques in a way that was easy to understand and gave me the confidence to improve my skiing skills. His positive energy and encouragement made the class fun and engaging. I walked away feeling accomplished and excited to ski more! Thank you to Craig and the team at Sierra-at-Tahoe for such a memorable experience. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for excellent skiing lessons and an overall fantastic time. Five stars all the way!
J — Google review
This place is awesome. The vibe is totally different from any other Tahoe area resort. This is where a friendly people go to have a good time. Do yourself a favor and get a season pass. It’s the shortest drive compared to any Tahoe area result from the Sacramento area and is super dope. Compliments to the freestyle park staff. Even with limited snow they always put together nice jumps.
Tyson W — Google review
Had another fantastic family trip to Sierra. I still remember it being the Sierra Ski Ranch from the "old days". But this place ain't old but it is classy. The employees are really nice and I know they work their azz off. It ain't easy serving weekend warriors. This was the President's Day Weekend and it had the potential to be super busy. But it wasn't super busy. From my experience, it was just .....busy? The food is decent. I had the Mountain of fries with chicken. 7/10 I guess. Fyi..... no Veterans or First Responder rates on special weekends. It's all good. By the way, it's good to see the mountain cleaned up from the Calder Fire a few years ago. So brutal. It's such a beautiful area, and I wish I could ski it another 30 years. Cheers! San Francisco Fire

Sara and the team at Sierra-at-Tahoe were incredible! Their attentiveness and dedication to customer service truly stood out. Every staff member greeted us with a smile, making us feel welcome from the start. Sara went above and beyond—not only did she have our rental gear and paperwork ready each day, but she also remembered our first and last names. As a local, I don’t always expect that vacation-like experience, but the team made it feel special. Their commitment to top-notch service is truly commendable. Huge kudos to Sara and the entire team!

Heavenly Mountain Resort is a renowned snow resort in California, offering stunning views of the area year-round. In summer, visitors can enjoy the panoramic vistas, while winter brings opportunities for skiing and other snow sports. The resort also features boutique hotels for a romantic getaway and activities like ziplining and arcade games at Harrah's Lake Tahoe. Families will find plenty to do at Heavenly Village, with the Gondola providing scenic rides up the mountain.
My Dad and I have been coming skiing here for five years now and love it. Good challenging runs, moguls, trees, but also relaxing runs and chill runs to bring sister on. Galaxy and Stagecoach are our favorites!

Went here for vacay to snowboard with my wife. Beautiful scenery and some of the most amazing views of any mountain resort. Observation deck views and top of mountain shots of Lake Tahoe are majestic. Rated this 4stars because of the below: - food and beverage costs are a little bullish even for a resort of this caliber. - only has one decent green run for those starting out as beginners post taking lessons. Good mountain for intermediate and advanced skiers and snowboarders. Would caution visiting here if you are a beginner looking to practice towards intermediate. Since there is only 1 true green run of length. Lift tickets are crazy expensive ($250+ per day) if you buy at the ticket window. Get an Epic pass months before and you’ll only pay ~$150 per day.
Jeffrey L — Google review
Heavenly is really nice. I really Like the Nevada part. Even on weekend not that crowded. What I don't really understand that during the week the beginner lift is closed and the lift for the Olympic run is always closed.
Luisa L — Google review
Have visited Heavenly several times over the last two summers! Love the coaster, enjoyed their Sunday yoga class. We enjoy playing games at the Lodge or taking the ski lift.
Lauren G — Google review
The best resort at Lake Tahoe for practicing on-piste skiing, with wide and long blue runs suitable for all levels. I like to practice small turns and carving big turns on the slopes, and the lift lines are shorter than at other resorts.
Doflamingo D — Google review
It's worth the expense to take the gondola first to the observation deck for fantastic views. Then up to the Lodge Area (no views from here). Also, take the six person ski lift to the summit for great views.
Joe B — Google review
We took the gondola to the overlook and then to the resort . It has a beautiful view. The resort area has lots of activities to choose from. It was a great experience.

Harveys Lake Tahoe Hotel & Casino is a popular resort that has been a staple in South Lake Tahoe since 1944. The hotel offers stunning views of Lake Tahoe and provides a wide range of amenities for guests to enjoy, including an outdoor pool, fitness center, and spa with Turkish baths and sauna. Additionally, the resort features two cozy coffee shops and four exceptional restaurants serving delicious cuisine.
The view of Lake Tahoe from my room is spectacular. All of the renovations and remodeling of the public areas in the lobby and Casino are well done and tasteful. The check-in staff was efficient and very helpful. In particular, there is one cocktail server in the Casino who is always helpful and polite. Her name is Cynthia. She always remembers my order and she checks her area frequently to make sure everyone in her area has everything they need. Service couldn’t be better in the casino.

This hotel calls themselves a 4 star hotel, if so the hotel should maintain high standard of customer satisfaction. I have been too many high end hotels and others have truly exceeded my expectations. The manger apparently thinks I’m lying. I am sure this hotel has cameras and should look into it . I came back from Hells Kitchen which is a very expensive restaurant. I brought food upstairs and put all my leftover in the fridge. I went to room and my food that was worth $ 250 dollars was not inside the fridge. It had got thrown away. Manger said they found no food, I have my coworkers as my witnesses to back me up and they have cameras as well and could check those. The housekeeper should have not touched my things and left it as is. They should take accountability but instead blame me as the customer stating apparently I did not have food in my fridge. I feel you guys should communicate better and inform staff members about late checkouts and house keepers should not throw things out until FINAL checkout. It is unfair for customers who have paid a lot for a hotel to stay at such as this. I been to numerous hotels where house keepers makes the bed and change towels and leave customers belongings. What kind of hotel do you run? The only time they clean up is when your fully checking out. The manager only compensated me $86 out of $250, very dissatisfied with the customer service they provided and should get compensated more than that.
Leana M — Google review
Hotel staff was lovely during check in and check out process, as was the Valet and Bell staff. Construction noise was apparent, even on the 10th floor, but not unmanageable (and during business hours only). Gaming floor felt limited due to construction, especially the slot areas.Table minimums were reasonable at all times of the day and the dealers were incredibly pleasant! The only ding I would give is that there was no 24-hour shop on-property during my visit, so anything after 10PM like snacks, sundries, etc, can't be purchased until re-opening at 7AM.
Brad H — Google review
The good news is that the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Security was good, too. They are working on remodeling at this time. Games were good. After coming here for over 30 years, I have seen many changes in "Harveys" now Caesars Republic. You can still rent skis or a snowboard, and Cinnabon is still there. But the American Grill has closed along with the food court leaving only one restaurant in Harrah's that open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are two restaurants in Caesars Republic which are Wolf and Hells Kitchen. They only open from 4-10 pm and when you go there they say that you must have reservations. So, food is so hard to find here. I don't want to eat at the same place every day for every meal. I miss the Carriage House and the America Grill. Also, the buffet is closed as well as Fridays Station at Harrahs, and I think the Sage Room is closed too. So bring some snacks.... There is coffee in the room upon arrival, but it's hit and miss if they will replenish the supplies in the morning. I love a cup of coffee when I wake up. We didn't get our room made or the coffee replaced but once in 5 days. I had to seek out the housekeeper for coffee and creamer. Use your best Spanish asking for more. Cafe y crema por favor. That's my best. There is no room service, so you have to wander around and wait for a seat at a restaurant. We gave up our place in line to a couple with crying kids who were hungry for breakfast. In the down season, there's not a lot to do, but in the winter it's lively and beautiful!! I suggest going then. Not a lot of homeless on the streets when we went. A CVS is across the street and a couple of blocks down for necessities, which was nice. Suggested ride to South Lake Tahoe is Amador, if you don't rent a car. It's a beautiful bus ride up the mountain from Reno. There's even a tunnel right before you get to the resort. There are scooters to rent when you get there. Uber is available! We were disappointed. Great place to stay in South Lake Tahoe - centrally located and easy to walk the strip. Casino is clean and the room was great. Bummer they don’t clean your room everyday, you’ll need to get fresh towels, toilet paper and coffee stuff sent up as needed. Valet service was wonderful.

Everything in this place was very clean and on point went here for my birthday and got a room and it had a great view. The staff is very professional and organized. They was doing Renovation at the hotel and there was no interference at all. I can't wait to go back to this place. They also had a very cool arcade down stairs it was very fun there's just so much cool stuff at this place.

Rating on day one was 5 starts, after staying one night and experiencing the construction in the morning, dropped immediately to a 1. Non stop drilling hammering and the works starting extremely early in the morning. I know it has to get done but people are here on vacation and are trying to enjoy themselves a little, some being the only vacation they'll have this year, the least you can do is to try and not disrupt your guests so early. Stay FAR FAR away from here until the remodel is completed.

If you want to hear a jackhammer running all day you will be in the right place. They are remodeling the hotel. The room we got was remodeled and looks nice, but incredibly the shower is only 26" wide. With the soap dispenser at shoulder height I have to step away in order to turn around. There is more room in the shower of a cruise ship.

Lake Tahoe Cruises, also known as MS Dixie II, offers a fantastic experience for families and adventure seekers alike. The Logan Shoals Vista Trail provides stunning views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding area, with options for both paved and unpaved hiking trails. The cruise itself is a comfortable journey suitable for all ages, featuring open top deck for panoramic views and covered lower decks with restaurant-style seating. Onboard dining options include delicious steak, salmon dinners, and vegetarian-friendly wild mushrooms ragout.
Excellent Cruise experience on Lake Tahoe. Great Sitting arrangement (both on open deck and inside cabin), fabulous Cafeteria, a nice Gift shop and just enough commentary as you cruise along the Lake. Click pics of the various landmarks on the Coast, cruise past the Fennel Island and get a real close view of the Vikingholm. A must do on any Lake Tahoe Tour list.

So the dinner cruise is awesome. The sunset on the return was magical. Seeing emerald bay was fantastic and the history lesson was unmatched. The food was sub par at best, specifically, the prime rib, bland and under cooked by 1 level, however, the staff and service was great. Especially, when you consider how many people are being served. Bring some cash for tip, service easy deserves it. Be surety line up at 5:20 or so on the pier in front of "The Landing" resort, pay the 12 bucks for parking at the pier/beach. The bus.....well, it's like an old school bus from the late 70's or early 80's, it has no air conditioning or heat. Frankly, we did not take it and are glad we drove to the dock, people were complaining about the bus. All in all great cruise, sights are unmatched and easily worth the price of admission, and will do again. Charge your phone lots of pictures. Sight pictures they take of you on the dock are $45, and are worth the memory.

The MS Dixie Sunset Dinner Cruise is well worth the price of admission! The Boat is very clean and easy to get around. The staff we had over July 4th weekend were just terrific and the food that was served was great! We also enjoyed the Band playing good dancing music. Of course the scenery outside was just fantastic with a gorgeous Sunset around 8:30 pm. This Sunset Dinner Cruise was truly a highlight of our family of five Trip! We LOVED Lake Tahoe and plan to return again one day.

Fun family experience! Cool, historic boat. Advice - If you want to have a better chance of good weather throughout the cruise, go to the earliest departure time. We took the 2:30 pm cruise, and it was gorgeous and sunny in Zephry Cove when we started. Halfway through, we hit a storm with heavy rain, hail, and winds...it was crazy! Later, we learned from a local that afternoon storms are very commonplace in late spring and summer. Still had a great time, though!
Marailee S — Google review
We were really disappointed in our experience. The food was bland and overcooked. It's crampacked so it's hot, VERY loud and you're sharing your table with several other groups. Drinks were way overpriced! Parking is extra also. All said and done with two tickets, 3 drinks and parking...we were out $400. Would not recommend. (The sunset was beautiful though)
Tasha S — Google review
Great cruise and scenery. Totally worth the cost. Food is not included for the daytime cruises but is available for purchase. We chose the daytime cruise over the sunset dinner cruise(food included) because we wanted to be able to see the clear water and scenery better. Get the rock slide brownie. It's Delicious

Beautiful views of Lake Tahoe! A bit pricey for what you get in my opinion. But when on vacation, who cares about cost right?! It was fun learning a little bit of history as well. Bring your sunglasses!

Wonderful boat ride from Zephyr Cove to Emerald Bay! The views were stunning and the commentary was interesting. There were great amenities aboard, including a gift shop and bar. I highly recommend this cruise for anyone wanting to enjoy a day on the water at Lake Tahoe.

Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Vikingsholm is a 38-room mansion located next to Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe. It offers tours from Memorial Day through late September and features a public beach area. Visitors can enjoy snowshoeing down to the bay if there are no avalanche warnings. The castle, closed during winter, is a popular hiking endpoint with an easy mile-long hike leading to it.
Closed. But not really. Don't let "closed" deter you from going here. Arrive early as the lot seems to fill on nice days. Easy walk downhill to waters edge and buildings. Closed only means you can't enter the castle. Yet there is still so much to appreciate surrounded by nature and interesting architecture. Hike to the falls. And be sure to go the extra 0.2 to the upper falls. That's just a bit past the bridge that goes over the lower falls area. The hike up isn't long but may take some encouragement for the younger ones. Footing is flat wide and pebbles. The bottom has a dock, still waters, falls, buildings and gentle wildlife. May even make friends with a duck.
James I — Google review
Absolutely stunning area to visit. Best to come early to get a park. $3 for 1 hour or $10 for the day. It’s a 1.6km walk down to the water. The walk up is quite steep but plenty of opportunities to stop along the way with bench seats. Would recommend to anyone visiting the lake to do this walk.
Emrachael — Google review
Very cool home nestled right next to emerald bay at Lake Tahoe. Pretty easy mile or so hike down to the home. It cost 18 dollars per adult to take the tour but it was very worth to cost. Also keep in mind parking is a mess and isn’t free. We parked about a half mile away from the start of the one mile hike. The detail on the home is amazing and it is truly an amazing story of wealth, generosity, and love for others. If you can make it go!! Also neat short hike behind the home to eagle falls. Shore swimming in the lake if you want to cool off too!
Larry H — Google review
If Vikingsholm is open and you plan to swim, definitely go down the trail. Otherwise, I’d recommend skipping the hike because the view from Inspiration Point is even better and less effort.

"Finest Scandinavian Architecture" in entire North America is very aptly ascribed to this fine villa. Built with Passion and Love, the solitary house stands out amongst all the other Holiday Homes of the Rich & Mighty of the 20th Century USA.

A very unique home at Lake Tahoe..as far as historical homes, this seems very liveable. It's on the Emerald Bay part of Tahoe which is aptly named. There is a boat ride to the home which can be very windy even on a hot day. The boat ride captain has a wealth of knowledge about the area! This may be my favorite home of all time.
Jean A — Google review
Great hike on Emerald Bay. Be warned it's an easy walk down but a steep hike back up to the parking lot, so it is NOT for physically challenged people or anyone with a heart condition. This is clearly signposted several times but I get the idea people ignore it Extremely rewarding views, and we even saw a bear sow with her cubs, right in the path.
Yahya A — Google review
Beautiful place. Hike is somewhat challenging back up. Go before 9:00 a.m. Even though it doesn't open yet or you will not get parking at the top. Beach is pretty, however after a few hours boaters come and completely take over would not recommend as a beach day

The bustling hub offers an array of entertainment options including table games, live entertainment, and 24/7 dining. Boasting over 700 gaming machines, 10 table games, and a sportsbook by William Hill, Casino Fandango caters to diverse gaming preferences.
We were visiting Carson City & wanted a late night dinner & came across the Restaurant in Casino Fandango. Reviews suggested it wasn't a great place, but we decided to take our chances. We Loved the decor, our Hostess & Wait Person (Harrison). Our food was cooked how we asked, good size portions & delicious!!! We would definitely eat here again🍽🍻

It's a very interesting casino. Very quiet. Clean. The fact security walked up and asked my daughter her age was interesting. There is a movie theater which you have to take a sky bridge to get too. We had to get a bite to eat because it was almost a three hour drive. The Governor Grill was a nice place to eat. Next time I will get something else. It all looked so inviting.
George A — Google review
On the website the governors grill offers a 5 dollar one topping pizza, I called in a Togo restaurant order for 6 pizzas and they said they couldn’t do that because it’s dine in only (not specified online) go in to order and asked for to go they said I would have to pay full price for the self pizzas (8.00) and a 2.00 fee for each pizza so an extra 5.00 for each pizza! Absolutely insane manager was rude and refused to give me her name….. won’t be going back! Horrible service! One pic is the display sitting at the dine in table the other is online advertisement!

TThe only reason I'm giving it a four was our waiter seemed to have forgotten about us at the end, I would have liked another glass of wine at the end of my meal but he was nowhere to be found, another waitress ended up having to bring a box for our leftovers, and we had to get up and walk to the bar to ask for our check. We were dressed casually and so were others in the restaurant so I don't know what his issue was....He was so busy making a production of desserts to another couple and didn't even look out way. I'm in the service industry part-time, and I am a very generous tipper for good service, but I told my date to only to only tip 15% The food on the other hand was fabulous, I had the Sea Bass with mushrooms and Chardonnay sauce it was absolutely delicious, my date had the Prime Rib a little rare for him but it was melt in your mouth.

This casino had major renovations done & it looks beautiful! The casino is bright & cheerful with plenty of slots, video poker & table games. We had a great lunch in the GOVERNOR’S GRILLE & it was delicious & reasonably priced. I had a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich with fries & my friend had a wonderful breakfast omelette! We enjoyed our lunch so much that we went back for dinner in DUKE’S STEAKHOUSE! That was really fantastic! Love the soft lighting, beautiful leather booths & oversized chairs, white tablecloths & sailing ships models all around. Alex was our server & he was excellent! I had the double pork chops & my friend had delicious fish. We had a wonderful dinner & I would highly recommend it to my friends. They also have a private dining room for 8-12 persons that is beautifully decorated in an elegant setting with a fireplace… great for a special occasion. The hostess, Gabby, was so sweet & helpful! I highly recommend the FANDANGO & its restaurants for a wonderful time!

Well maintained. Nice staff. Reworked restaurants are good for for a fair price - a lot of locals eat breakfast and lunch here. Some game tables. Nice new slots.

Casino Fandango is a local Carson City gem! They have four distinct dining options including sushi and Italian food as well as a renowned steak house! Recent modernizations have improved the facility’s flow and lightened up a previously dark interior. Plus, Casino Fandango has ample convention/special event space with in-house planning services. It’s a great place for a special dinner or quick restaurant bite.

We had dinner at Dukes in the casino and lemme tell ya, if I could give our dinner 10 stars I would. Ever had a meal that was absolutely perfect? Well we just did. Service was exemplary, from the hostess to the server Alex. We had the scallops and ribeye and they were both absolutely perfect. The escargot was over the top excellent. Even the soup and salad were perfect. Did I take pictures? Heck no. We ate it, ain't nobody got time for that. We will be back, for sure. And the icing on the cake? It wasn't terribly expensive either.

Nestled in Carson City, the Nevada State Railroad Museum serves as a captivating tribute to the rich history of railroads in Nevada. This museum is home to an impressive array of historic trains and cars that transport visitors back to the golden age of steam locomotives, which were once vital arteries for transportation across the nation. As you wander through its halls, you'll encounter meticulously restored locomotives and passenger cars that highlight both engineering brilliance and aesthetic design from their respective eras.
Wonderful experience, the volunteers that work here are full of amazing information and so happy to share stories with you. All of the displays are keep in great condition. This is a must see location when in town.

Hey everyone, it’s Nevada Lao Bai! Today we’re visiting the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, the state capital. This is a must-see spot filled with antique trains and cars from the late 1800s to early 1900s. It’s also family-friendly—kids will love learning about railroad history! Plus, it’s close to Lake Tahoe with amazing scenery. Highly recommended!

We had a blast here. We got to ride the train, explore the museum and because we were there late, got to watch them put up the trains for the night. The workers and volunteers are so knowledgeable and it seems like they truly enjoy what they do. My kids really enjoyed the gentlemen who was dressed in period clothing running the switch.

They truly care about this place and restoring traincars/engines. Special thank you to Nancy for all the knowledge and an amazing train ride. And to Daniel for sharing his expertise with my husband during the cab ride. We'll be getting a membership and returning far more often!

Pretty good for what it was. We purchased train ride tickets while we were there. The train, which was absolutely amazing, only went around the museum three times really slowly. I kind of felt as though I was riding on an electric train set.

Rating this purely as a tourist attraction. I have never been to one of their services. This beautiful old Catholic church is full of history and is open to the public for you to go around and observe. There is a small gift shop just inside and to the right. There is also a museum on the lower floor, which is free. However, be aware that the museum has much more to do with Catholicism, and even some seemingly random other things, than it does with the history of Virginia City, specifically.

Beautiful Church. KNOWN AS THE "BONANZA CHURCH" BECAUSE OF THE RICH SILVER MINES OF THE LAST CENTURY, THIS MOTHER CHURCH OF THE COMSTOCK LODE TRACES ITS HISTORY TO 1858 WHEN REV. JOSEPH GALLAGHER (1821-87) OFFERED THE FIRST MASS IN NEVADA. HIS BROTHER, REV. HUGH P. GALLAGHER (1815-82), OPENED THE FIRST CATHOLIC CHURCH IN VIRGINIA CITY IN 1860. DESTROYED BY THE WINDS OF THE FOLLOWING WINTER, THIS CHURCH WAS REPLACED IN 1864 WHEN REV. PATRICK MANOGUE (1831-95) ERECTED A NEW CHURCH A BLOCK AWAY FROM HERE. THE PRESENT CHURCH, ORIGINALLY BUILT IN 1868, WAS SERIOUSLY DAMAGED IN THE GREAT FIRE OF 1875 BUT REBUILT IN 1876. TODAY ST. MARY'S STANDS HERE AS A TREASURE OF THE OLD WEST AND IS NOW RECOGNIZED AS A NATIONAL CATHOLIC HISTORICAL SITE.

The Washoe Club Museum & Saloon is a historic establishment dating back to 1862, offering visitors a glimpse into the past with its original chandeliers and luxurious accommodations that once attracted mining magnates during the Gold Rush. This storied saloon in Virginia City also houses a history museum featuring exhibits and offers ghost tours, drawing in enthusiasts from around the world.
So Virginia City has become a bit of a tourist trap with loads of over the top schlock and overpriced everything. If you like that kind of thing - fantastic! I don't so much. However, if you find yourself there, Washoe Club is the bright spot. Tours are reasonably priced, the folks who run this historical business are incredibly lovely and the tour guide is phenomenal. These folks worked with me ahead of time to move my tour date tickets three times for various reasons and when I walked in, greeted me by name! That's impressive. The tour guide was not only personable but had a deep knowledge of local history and how the club impacted national events. If you're in it only for the paranormal, he's got you covered there too! Truly enjoyed the time at the OWC!

I’ve been on several really good ghost tours in San Francisco, so I kinda knew what to expect during a tour. However, I was amazed by the history of the Washoe Club and of the paranormal activity described by our tour guide as we walked through the rooms. I must say that the spookiest area to me was the “Crypt.” The oddity was the spiral staircase that wound its way to the top floor. Back in the day, only the wealthy had access to the top via this staircase. Apparently there are several ghosts that frequent this area, although I didn’t see any. There were a lot of things covered in 45 minutes but I felt good about the tour and would recommend it. I’m now ready for the overnight lock-in.🫣

First time visiting the Washoe Club. This place is amazing! My family and I are paranormal investigators and have been wanting to visit for quite some time. We went on the tour and got to go up into the millionaire's Club. Our tour guide was so friendly and had so much knowledge the history of this building. We had the BEST dining experience here. From the moment we walked through the door, we were impressed with every aspect of this establishment. As we were waiting to be seated, the General Manager/Chef took us on a little tour of the upstairs. He was friendly, knowledgeable and checked on us several times during our visit. The cocktails were fantastic, especially the lavender lemon drop. I had the elk chop and mac n cheese. Both were phenomenal. My boyfriend had the prime rib. They were out of mashed potatoes (we were there late) and due to gluten and dairy allergy, he passed on the other side options. Much to our surprise, the chef special made him fries. We both had a wedge salad, and I gobbled down the incredible bread that had amazing butter. Our server was also fantastic. It's a beautiful restaurant, with incredible food and top-notch service. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Virginia City.

We had heard good things but the actual experience blew us away! Steven, the GM, and everyone else (Christina was our server) was so attentive and generally wonderful to be around. We left so full from the table side caesar, crab cakes, ribeye with mushrooms and whipped potatoes, and bananas foster for desert.

Took our out-of-town parents to the sawdust last weekend and had a great experience! We made reservations the week before, definitely recommend doing so especially as tourist season kicks off. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, comfortable seating, and great lighting. There was no music in the Delta or restaurant that day so I’m unsure of those noise levels, but it was pleasant for us. The staff was very attentive, the food was excellent and the options were great for someone like me with dietary restrictions. we will definitely be back!

My group of four arrived at this restaurant without a reservation and were told we would be able to get a table within minutes. The hostess went above and beyond to ensure we were happy and taken care of. Our server, Haven, was very attentive, professional, and gave excellent recommendations and customer service. We were very impressed by the service here and will definitely return when we are in the area to try other menu items.

The food was really good, however the service was not. The guy who dropped off bread and water was really good but our waitress did not provide good service. During our dinner she did not stop by once to check on us or to clear our empty plates, for the price I expected better service. The fish dish was really amazing though. Would recommend if the service was better.

Outdoor Activities
Homewood Mountain Resort is a top destination for skiing and snowboarding in the Lake Tahoe area. With 1,260 acres of terrain on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, it offers stunning views of the lake from every slope. The resort features numerous ski and snowboard runs, terrain parks, two lodges, and on-mountain dining options. Visitors appreciate its convenient location close to cabins and praise the variety of ski runs without feeling overwhelming.
Wow! Skiing has become an expensive hobby over the last 15 years. Lol. I love coming to the ski resorts more than most. It has an awesome location that is super close to our cabin, and I love how the mountain has a great variety of ski runs, but not too many to where you would get lost and need a tour guide. It was from my first time skiing in five years and all of the staff were super friendly and helpful. Luckily, it was a nice slow day, and I was able to get my ski rentals and lift ticket very easily. If you head down the center run toward the main lodge, you will have the most beautiful view of the entire lake! Had a great time, looking forward to going back. They had a snack carts in the parking lot that served corn dogs, and waffles, I believe there’s a full restaurant and bar on the second floor of the lodge.

I cannot say enough great things about this resort. As first time ski/snow boarders we didn’t know what to expect. We signed up for group lessons and their instructors were top notch. They had us all independent after a lesson and we were able to progress from there. Their prices are affordable, gear rental is good quality, and the location is wonderful. It’s not as busy as the other resorts and their hospitality is awesome. Very family friendly as well as adult friendly… (two bars on premises). We were with other experienced skiers and snow boarders and they enjoyed their advanced trails. Shout out to our instructors Lou, Tim, and Jose. We wouldn’t have had a great time without you all. The view from the resort is unmatched. 10/10 will be back.
Kara S — Google review
Stunning slopes with a gorgeous view. It is on the smaller size, but will keep you entertained for at least a couple days. Very pleasant staff, efficient process, and am amazing snack bar with grab burritos on the slopes. Gorgeous glades too.
Lucas A — Google review
Homewood is like the sweet spot of ski resorts. Laid back, not crowded, trails for every skier level, low prices, and maybe the best view of Lake Tahoe in the area. The only criticism is that the Big Blue lookout bar should have more food options for lunch (they only had burritos) but the view of the lake from sitting outside was so amazing.
Riku Y — Google review
Such a wonderful experience! We bought the three day package. We’ve gone twice so far and the lines are always short and the staff is so sweet! Don was amazing in helping my friend on pointers for her first day. And the views are breathtaking. Such a gem. We will be back!
Summer R — Google review
Great resort although it will be a bit tough for beginners. Ski pass price is very low, and the view is amazing. Love the long trails but right now the snow coverage is not that good, will come back after they will get more snow.
Marom L — Google review
Hands down my favorite mountain in the Tahoe area. It might not be the most "modern" or have the most terrain, but the vibe and the view are second to none. Love the glades off the Homewood Express and the Ellis chair and the Beer and Deer special is always a good(?) time. Been coming here consistently for the past five years and inconsistently for longer..will definitely continue to visit.
Taijiro L — Google review
I ski there. Family owned. Lots of terrain. The West Shore of Lake Tahoe get the most snow but this year there is plenty. I get the Senior discount. Used to be $36 but they raised it to $80? The thing about Seniors is we never ski all day so $80 is a bit steep. All in all it's a Tahoe locals secret. Best view of Tahoe!

Specialty Museums
The Way It Was Museum in Virginia City offers a fascinating glimpse into the Old West era with its collection of historic mining artifacts, rare photos, and maps. The outdoor display showcases mining equipment and explains how mules were used for ore extraction. Inside, visitors can explore a wide range of artifacts including newspaper clippings, household goods, and maps.
What a fun museum. So much to learn about mining and how things were done in the past. Small but very informative museum
Carlo Q — Google review
Informative and quaint museum of the Comstock Gold rush mining in Virginia City. They have numerous original pieces, tons of literature, and descriptive signage (not just a non-descript, moronic blurb found in many newer museums). Staff was also very friendly.
Rob B — Google review
Absolutely loved the museum! I adore anything old and it was full of authentic old relics and knick knacks and more! My kids even loved it! Also the gift shop area had great things and they were all actually affordable! I spent $50 in the gift shop and $12 to get in and it was well worth! The staff was also very friendly!
Kelsey J — Google review
This tiny historic town is so very interesting. I enjoyed visiting the Way It Was Museum where I learned more about the mining history and was able to see so much original equipment and relics and fun facts about the time period. I very much suggest taking a walk around
Jax W — Google review
They have a LOT of Everyday items from the city of Virginia from the eart seems Like they just went through these houses 150 years ago and picked up all the items and turned in the museum. The biggest gold Load was found here and all of the Mining equipment was developed here, Because this is the first place where the mines went down 2000 feet underground. Obviously the working conditions 2000 feet in the ground were crazy and they have a photos and videos about all that, which is really interesting. The admission is $5 so definitely Check out the inside of the museum

What an absolutely amazing place. Great to take photos. Great fun for the whole family, perfect little gift shop.

This is the best place IMO in Nevada that you must visit when in Reno. Virginia city Town is still so kept up and still runs like it did in the historical cowboy days 🤠it's so fun and everyone so friendly ! So many historical sights to visit ! P. S you might run in to a few friendly ghost if you pay close attention 😉either way you will enjoy this place if you love seeing history face to face as it was
Ali M — Google review
Adorable museum. Won’t take you more than 30 minutes to see it all unless you watch the video and read everything. Doesn’t cost much to enter either. I would definitely say it’s worth a visit

Sand Harbor is a stunning and popular site at Lake Tahoe, offering swimming, boating, and open-air entertainment with breathtaking mountain views. The beach features pristine turquoise waters and a spacious sandy area for relaxation. Visitors can explore prehistoric rock formations and enjoy biking on the trails or hiking in the surrounding nature. Additionally, there are clean public bathrooms and a designated BBQ area for day use.
It is absolutely stunning! The crystal-clear blue water, smooth sandy beaches, and surrounding mountain views make it one of the most beautiful spots at Lake Tahoe. It’s perfect for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, or just relaxing on the beach. The park is clean and well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, it’s a must-visit place for nature lovers and anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe!

Beautiful park with a gorgeous beach just very popular and have to get there early. They have ticketed arrival times that are unavailable or sold out most of the time but at 10:30 you can come in until they’re full. It’s a gorgeous beach but very crowded. Thrilled we were able to enjoy some time here before traveling around the entire lake.
Tammera L — Google review
Definitely worth a stop, even for an hour or so, but beach sand worth more time. The facilities are very well developed, as is the parking registration process. We visited during low season, so very easy. Beautiful lake views. Good info at visitor center.

I was technically at hidden beach south, but the photos only reveal my departing. I love the vivid coloring so much. To breath in the pink and yellow sky. The vibes were delicious. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Drive Mount Rose Hwy. Don't rush, chill vibes with it. The drive itself has (4) 20mph (3+) 30mph turns with the main top speed 55. Enjoy!

One of my favorite stops when I visit Tahoe. Bring a towel, some blankets, swim shorts, picnic basket, and time. You will want to get your feet wet or lay down to just enjoy the beauty of this place. Plan to stay and enjoy the scenery.

Went in fall and had no problems parking or getting in. Rest rooms open and clean. Beautiful place to picnic, walk and see the sunset. $10 to park if NV plates and $15 for everyone else. Opens at 8 am.

Beautiful and a must see. The park is $15.00 and worth it. Clean bathrooms. Nice walking paths and plenty of parking. Great way to relax and enjoy the lake. Several area to sit or swim. Beautiful coves. Highly recommend a visit.

Sand Harbor is absolutely stunning and definitely one of the best spots around Lake Tahoe. The lake water is incredibly clear with beautiful shades of blue and green, and the surrounding scenery is just breathtaking. We went for a swim and also explored the area by bike which was a great way to enjoy the views. Although we didn’t try kayaking or snorkeling this time, we saw a lot of people enjoying those activities and it looked amazing. Whether you’re relaxing on the beach or being active, this place offers a perfect mix of natural beauty and outdoor fun. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting Tahoe.

Hiking Trails
Eagle Rock Trailhead offers easy access and free parking, making it a convenient starting point for a short hike with stunning panoramic views of Lake Tahoe. The trail is less than a mile long, providing hikers with some of the best vistas on the west shore of the lake. With a moderate difficulty level, the 620-foot climb to Eagle Rock is relatively easy and well worth the effort. The trail isn't usually crowded, offering visitors a peaceful experience in nature.
Absolutely beautiful payoff at the top atop the bluff overlooking the lake. Stunning! Nice, moderate climb up to get the blood pumping too and get a nice workout in the process. Panoramic views from atop, 100% worth it and highly recommended. Parking right off of 89, fills up quickly.
FFKDTP1 — Google review
The trail is not that tough and decent to walk up. the rock placed at high but you can see a great view on Lake Tahoe. Giant trees are also good to see and interesting. It feels like me in Minecraft game kind of.
Joona Y — Google review
Starts as a rather dusty uphill hike but ends with a stunning view from atop the rock. Many different viewpoints makes it a private experience no matter how many others are there. Very short; 45 minutes or less out and back if you're just going to the top. Parking is a paved turnout on the road.
Eric T — Google review
What a fantastic trail with epic scenery overlooking the entire Tahoe basin! What I would call a three out of five hike with only a 15 minute walk to the top, but even if you take longer, the views are completely worth it. In fact, the view was so epic that I decided to propose to my girlfriend at the top. And I couldn’t think of any better place to do it with more epic views in any better setting.
Trent C — Google review
This is a good hike. It's all uphill and but not too bad with shady spots to take a break. The views were amazing, totally worth it!
John M — Google review
Great trail for a family hike. It's short, but has some opportunities for kids to climb up and around rocks a bit. Trail is narrow at parts and dusty dirt can be a big slippery, so choose your shoes accordingly. The view at the top is one of the best I've seen! Great spot for a vista picnic.
Stephanie W — Google review
About a 10-20 minute hike up depending on your speed. My pregnant wife was able to do it with a lot of heavy breathing lol. But still made it! Nice views

Nestled in Incline Village, Diamond Peak Ski Resort offers a cozy and local vibe with stunning views of Lake Tahoe from almost every run. This medium-sized resort provides skiing, snowboarding, sledding, and a kids' zone, making it an excellent option for families or groups with skiers of varying abilities. The area also grants access to Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe, known for its longest vertical in North America and suitable for almost-Olympic-level athletes.
First time for me, I loved it. Everyone was so nice, so easy. The ski lessons for kids are awesome! Group half-day lessons are a great deal, $175 including snacks rentals lift ticket and 3 hours of parent free time.

Nice resort. Took the family there and took advantage of the spring 3 day flex pass. Kids skills improved quickly over those days. The ski map details difficulty of each run relative to the others. The oldest and I hit all but one run there by the last day. Pretty views too, especially from the Snowflake lodge. Staff was nice

Amazing ski experience with unbeatable Lake Tahoe views. Diamond Peak Ski Resort is an absolute gem in Lake Tahoe. The slopes are well-groomed, staff are super friendly and helped us pick right gears and the views overlooking the lake are simply breathtaking. It’s perfect for both beginners and experienced skiers. The resort feels less crowded than some of the bigger ones, which makes for a more relaxed and enjoyable day on the mountain. Definitely a must-visit if you’re in the area during ski season
Archu G — Google review
Great place to bring beginner ski or snowboard kids and adults. For veterans nice quick short to medium runs. Parking can be tough, but they provide a pick up at parking lots. Just inconvenient if you forgot something in car. Staff very friendly, patient, and helpful.

I visited Diamond Peak Ski Resort for the first time on my birthday after learning about their free ski pass birthday offer on their website, and it was an amazing experience! Despite not all the trails being open yet, I had so much fun on the slopes. The runs that were available were well-maintained and offered stunning views of Lake Tahoe. One of the highlights of the day was how uncrowded the resort was compared to others in the area. It was such a refreshing change to not deal with long lines or packed runs. Getting there early was definitely the right call because it allowed me to park close to the resort, making the day even more convenient and enjoyable. The friendly and welcoming staff made the experience even better. They truly went above and beyond to ensure I had a great time, which left such a positive impression on me. If you’re considering a ski resort in the Tahoe area, Diamond Peak is a hidden gem! The birthday pass offer brought me here, but the incredible experience and laid-back vibe will have me coming back again and again. Highly recommend!

Diamond Peak is truly a breathtaking, serene destination that you have to see for yourself. The views are absolutely majestic and worth the trip alone. The ski lodge was surprisingly uncrowded, which meant no waiting for ski lifts—a rare treat. The resort offers plenty of routes for all skill levels, making it perfect for a single-day visit. That said, I found the number of runs limited, so one day was just right for me. While I’d happily return to soak in the stunning views from the top, I’d likely choose another ski resort for a second day of skiing. Diamond Peak is ideal for a short but memorable visit!
Kevin O — Google review
Diamond Peak is a truly stunning ski resort, offering breathtaking views and well-maintained slopes. Our family enjoyed wonderful days on the mountain. However, lesson package pricing needs clarification; it is unclear whether it includes equipment rental or only lessons.

What a cool little ski resort. We hiked up to the Snowflake lodge to take in the incredible views of Lake Tahoe. It took about an hour up and back. The terrain here looks very fun in the wintertime. This appears to be a great resort to catch some views of Lake Tahoe and ski some awesome trees!

Mt. Rose - Ski Tahoe is a ski resort in the Lake Tahoe area that boasts of having the highest base elevation for skiing. The resort offers 1,300 acres of carefully maintained ski runs suitable for skiers of all levels. There are seven chairlifts and three snowboard parks available to cater to visitors' diverse needs. For those seeking luxury accommodation, North Star provides slopeside five-star lodging.
I have been here twice and loved it both times. As a beginner this place is perfect as it has a lot of green slopes and the lesson packages are quite affordable. We arrived here on Sunday morning. Two of my friends took the beginner lesson and the instructor was very patient with them. They ended up enjoying it by the end of the day and mastered the bunny hills. I had taken the beginner lesson last time which had also been a perfect stepping stone for me to take the next step ski lesson this time. I was nervous to do it as I hadn’t skied in a while but it came right back and Matthew, my instructor was truly amazing. He was very detailed in his instructions and you could tell he loved the sport a lot. He gave us such amazing tips and really improved my skiing stance and progressed me to the next level. I also felt very inspired after the lesson as I could understand through Matthew’s anecdotes and my own run down the green slopes why it was so much fun. I can’t wait to get back to Mt Rose and improve my skiing skills. I really hope to take another lesson with Matthew and would highly recommend him for anyone who wants to get better and learn from a pro.

This mountain is a locals haven. Affordable passes, cool events and clinics. Views of both the valley and Lake Tahoe. The food is good and it’s not too crowded. Parking is great-no gondola or trams to take you to the top. Just park and go! Opens at 8:30 for pass holders!

Nice ski area. Runs are ok. Just wish they had more snow in the winter. Maybe next year. Plenty of beginner runs. Rentals are pricey.

Putting Heavenly aside, Mt. Rose is the best ski area in the state of Nevada. We got a good look at the terrain while doing the Mt. Rose summit trail hike which is a highly recommend trail located right near the access road entrance to the resort. If we visit Tahoe again in the wintertime we'll definitely make our way back to Mt. Rose to ski it!

It was the most wonderful way to spend the last day of 2024. I felt welcomed, warm, and safe here. The staff carefully checked the equipment to ensure everything worked perfectly and safely. The instructors patiently taught students how to ski during a two-hour lesson, even though I kept falling a lot. We ended up spending the entire afternoon here.
Sam C — Google review
Came here on March 15 and 16 2024 and skied all day both days. Prices are way better than the other mountains in the area and it wasn't crowded at all. I got there at 9am and was skiing by 9:30. Never waited more than a few minutes to get on a lift. They do $69 day passes for active duty (access for ALL lifts). Staff was super friendly and helpful. This was my first time skiing in almost 15 years, so I took a Next Step lesson and was able to pick it right back up. This place is great for people of all experience levels. Even the beginner slopes had plenty of variety. As someone who had never skied on the west coast before, I'm glad I found this mountain. Cannot beat the amazing views and the ease of accessing all the slopes.

Excellent value for the money! Very authentic with wood paneling in the bar. NO lift lines while skiing on a Friday. Rental skis and boots were reasonable at $54 - including the helmet. Make sure you ask for a wide boot if you have wide feet- they have them. Pro tip: buy your lift tix the night before to get a small discount.

It wasn’t in full blast when we went but there was enough snow for fun. The kids had a blast, it’s great for beginners and families. The food was really good! We loved Gus’s chili and veggie chili. They had a bunch of other options though. We watched the end of the UT football game in the bar on-site. Overall no lines and lots of nice people.

Beautiful resort and great experience. My family enjoyed the quick getaway. The room was clean. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Rooms are perfect for big families. The rooms also have a washer and dryer, which is a big plus. To our surprise there was lots of snow. We can't wait to come back with our family.

I just like the mountain, and weather conditions seem more favorable than most. If you're going to spend the money to do the whole ski resort thing, then avoid Friday thru Mondays, it gets crowded. But more or less the entire mountain is open to all skill levels, with intermediate and advance options down from every lift.

Check in was horrible. No direction for the lock box and we drove around trying to find assistance. The rooms are ok. The toilet paper holder was broke and door trim was falling off. Carpets stained. The grounds of the resort are beautiful! Very nice location and mountain resort feeling.

OFF SEASON EVENTS ARE GREAT! Really wonderful partner for big events, affordable adventure for off season and groups even groups with with kids. Roller skating, live music, restaurants, sundries, and fire pits until 10pm. Plentiful walking options and rooms of every type. A great partner to work with for bigger groups. LOTS of unique rooms an spaces for every size situations. We had some room sharing with a big kitchen and others have a small private space. They GET IT and are easy to work with. PLUS its beautiful.

Northstar is an excellent mountain resort in the north Lake Tahoe area. I’ve been going to their mountain bike park for more than 20 summers. It’s the best bike park in the area and they’re constantly improving. It can be challenging for beginners because the climate is very dry, making for loose, dry dirt. They do irrigate some of the trails, which helps a lot. In the winter, it’s a ski resort. I’ve been there many times in the winter, but it’s not my favorite resort in the area. It gets very crowded, often having full parking lots. And there’s limited initial access to getting on the mountain, so the morning lines can be very long. There are many lodging options right on the mountain, which is a huge benefit. From the mid-mountain Ritz-Carlton to the village hotel and condos to the surrounding condos, townhomes and homes, I don’t know of another Tahoe area resort like it with as much on-mountain lodging options. It’s definitely one of the most high class resorts I know of in the area with many other amenities.
Doug K — Google review
Great pizza and gelato ice cream shop. They also have a cute small movie theater and a skating ring in the summer, which turns into a ice skating ring foe the winter months. You may be able to catch a live music band on Friday evenings. Grab a pizza and relax by the fire pit.
Queen N — Google review
I skied Northstar for the first time this past season. I found the terrain to be boring and repetitive for the most part. There's not really any super steep terrain, chutes, couloirs, or anything like that. The whole mountain is below treeline and most of the runs feel the exact same. The guest services team was amazing and the mountain is protected from high winds. It's also close to Truckee but those are about the only things good. Would I go back? No. There's just so many other resorts in Tahoe that are far better and entertaining. Northstar is for families, people who like riding park, and people who are all about aprè.
Adam L — Google review
Let me start of by saying everyone did a stellar job, but I particularly want to talk about my experience with Austin C (a mechanic that was working at the lower gondola station). I bought 4 bikes during the rental fleet sale and without him this wouldn’t even have been possible. When others thought there was no bikes available in the size I requested, and ready to turn me away, he went the extra mile and found some for me in storage that were tagged and ready for sale. He truly treated me like a good friend. I’d say I’m just a cool guy but he treated everyone like this. I watched him interact with another family with kids and can say I would want my family treated with the same amount of respect and care. I’ve ridden mountain bikes at northstar since 2008 and can say this was my favorite experience so far. If there was a better way to make sure Austin gets recognition for this I would happily do it. I even took a picture of his badge because I really wanted to make sure I don’t forget his name. Huge props to the team and Austin for taking care of me, I’m coming back this weekend to ride my new bike! Cheers, JP

It has received several accolades, including the AAA-Four Diamond Award and the Expedia Elite top-ranked hotel in North America. Guests can indulge in a variety of culinary delights at Cafe Milano, Biscottis, and Oceano.
We really just went in to gamble and hang out for awhile and we were truly surprised by how nice this place was compared to some of the other spots in town. Clean, modern, friendly. It was a little bit smokey compared to most Las Vegas casinos but not enough to say I wouldn’t hang out a day or two here. The video screens all over were a real nice addition and help add more depth to the place. The selfie screen was fun. For a lunch sandwich you can’t go wrong with the sports deli. It’s pricey but they’re so large order appropriately and it becomes very reasonable. See photos. Small feeds two and large could feed 4 if you want to have room for dinner unless you’re just starving.

The rooms are clean. Connor, behind the check in desk was awesome. Very helpful. You're not really greeted as you walk in or walk up to the concierge desk unless you're a high roller. They have very few spots for disability parking. The prices of food was outrageous. We spent $40 on 2 coffees and a breakfast sandwich. That being said, the espresso was fantastic. I guess gone are the days of adorable food to keep people from wanting to leave the resort. We were on a non smoking floor in a non smoking room and it still reeked of cigarettes. As an asthmatic, it was bothersome. We still enjoyed our stay. The beds and pillows are really comfy.

My first stay at the Peppermill was a really pleasant experience. I actually got upgraded because the room I originally booked wasn’t available — total Jerry Seinfeld moment (if you know, you know). The room itself was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The king bed was great, and the pillows had just the right amount of support. But the real highlight was the bathroom, especially the steam shower, which was amazing after a long day. Overall, I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re in Reno. Great rooms, nice amenities, and a solid experience all around.

I had the best stay at the Peppermill. We were originally assigned to a different room that we didn’t like, so we asked the front desk if we could switch to a room with a view. They were very accommodating and reassigned us right away. The hotel is very clean and has a great selection of restaurants to try. The pool area is so nice and clean too. I will definitely be coming back!

After the first trip to the Peppermill, we've been staying there for work trips ever since (~2-years). The staff is abundantly friendly, helpful and patient. Amenities and restaurants are great, leaves you wanting for nothing more, we generally don't explore Reno, the resort has everything we need. If you're a gambler, there's a large selection and quantity of each variation of classic gambling available. The dealers are fantastic, very kind and helpful. Please gamble responsibly! Tuscany and Peppermill towers have good rooms. The west/north towers are not updated, but very very cheap. For us, it's worth it to spend a little extra for better rooms. Can't wait for our next trip.

From the moment I walked up, Dario at the Rewards Center, greeted me with a confident smile and the kind of presence that says, “I’ve got this.” He looks like a boss, acts like a pro, and delivers service with both polish and personality. Dario handled everything efficiently, answered my questions with ease, and made the whole experience feel smooth and welcoming. It’s clear he takes pride in his role and represents Peppermill with class. Big kudos to Dario—he’s the kind of team member that makes guests want to come back.

This has been been the worst experience I have ever had. My friend and I planned a weekend adventure to travel to Reno, gamble, enjoy the city for our birthdays. We drove over 4 hours to get here. Our room was supposed to be a smoking room which we did have. However there is not any ventilation, no vents in the bathrooms. I had to take a shit when we got up to the room and I didn’t realize until after. There was no way to get the airflow out and clear the smell. I was very upset about this and so was my friend who was staying in the same room with me. No way! Long story short we go down to talk to the front desk. The first guy Drew was nice and professional of course he’s just doing his job and trying to help the best he can. We explain the situation, no manager even comes out to speak to us they just send drew back out to tell us what they can do for us. An upgrade to another room, no extra charges, but it’s not a smoking room. Or we can get refunded and try to get another hotel room at 10pm on a Thursday night. Not to mention the refund won’t be immediately available so if we did go to another hotel we would have to spend more money to do so. We leave to discuss together what we should do. It’s 10pm and it’s a big inconvenience and it just felt like this hotel staff did not care at all about making our stay here special. We come back to the desk a few minutes later with more questions, they find us a room that is smoking and it has bathroom ventilation with vents! It’s a handicapped persons room! I can’t make this up, just the worst expose ever had. If it wasn’t after 10pm when we tried to get all this figured out I would have just left and drove back home 4 hours. I will never stay here ever again, the manager and supervisor definitely had no desire to accommodate us. Horrible attitudes and customer service. We are paying a lot of money to stay here, and to gamble at this establishment. I don’t want to give this place a penny after this.

The recently upgraded Grand Buffet offers an array of international cuisine including Indian and Vietnamese dishes, along with new vegan options and a tempting dessert station.
It is so beautiful and so worth the six hour drive here! Even though I'm only here for two more days I know it will be amazing. The hotel in general is just amazing and giant! Hotel room, is amazing so pretty and roomy. I don't know how I feel about the TV but besides that it is pretty cool. And they also have a pool ( which I have not been to YET) and they also have a " Casino " for kids! It was so fun. In all I recommend coming here because it is worth everything!

This hotel is SUPER cool with lots to do and plenty to see! We came for BLFC and we had a suite with a connected double Queen. The rooms and views were GORGEOUS. My only complaints are that, the rooms need a much more thuro look over when cleaning. The Queen had left over food in the fridge from the guest before, random trash in the fake glued down vases, and in the suite there was a good amount of areas that had very thick dust caked up. I know time is limited for cleaning but this hotel may want to invest in bigger cleaning teams/more employees. The pools and hot tubs are awesome! they are massive and I didn't feel like I was over crowding was happening even with the amount of people there. My only other complaint is that everything inside the hotel is EXPENSIVE. You would save more money getting 5 pizzas delivered than you would buying it there. We got 1 pie for over $55. 1 PIE. The froyo place tho? Hands down best pricing. Bless that place.

Room was large and comfortable. Was there for 2 nights. Housekeeping missed providing more toilet paper and it too 2 hours to get it. That was a bit rough since I NEEEDED it. So much to do inside this resort. You could stay a week and probably still not do it all. Amazing space for a reasonable price. I would definitely stay again.

I had the pleasure of being served by one of the best bartenders (An An) I've ever encountered during my recent visit to the High Limit Bar at Grand Sierra Resort & Casino. From the moment I sat down, the service was exceptional. She was very professional and attentive, but also warm, personable, and genuinely welcoming. She crafted each drink with precision and care, offering great recommendations and demonstrating impressive knowledge of both classic cocktails and what stood out most was her ability to make me and my group of friends feel comfortable with having drinks before we start our casino play in there. The atmosphere at the High Limit Bar is already top-tier, but the bartender (An An) elevated the experience to something truly memorable. If you're visiting Grand Sierra, do yourself a favor and stop by the High Limit Bar, you won't be disappointed!

I like how welcoming and attentive An An was from the moment I sat down at the High Limit bar. She has an incredible personality that makes you feel like a regular, even if it’s your first time there. My drinks were made perfectly every time, and she remembered what I liked without me even asking. Her energy, professionalism, and genuine kindness really stand out. You can tell she truly loves what she does, and it shows in how she treats every guest. An An made my night at GSR memorable, definitely the kind of bartender who deserves recognition for her top-notch service!

Great destination location. Once here, there is really no reason to go outside of the resort. Food, games, slots, tables, entertainment, shopping, kids stuff, golf, swimming pools, bowling, video games, magic show, concerts, comedy shows, buffets, sports bar & restaurant, EV charging, conference rooms, everything you need in a getaway. If you feel the need to venture out to downtown Reno to get your gamble on and check out the scenery, it is literally a hop, skip, and a jump away. Great location, great atmosphere, great service, great team of staff and vendors. This is one of the wife & I's favorite places to escape to.

My union healthier convention here this past weekend. I have stayed at this hotel before but never for something work related. I really appreciate it how nice the room was decorated and the beds were very very comfortable. The rooms are very spacious and include a refrigerator which I wasn't expecting. I also appreciate that they have charging stations on site. Some of the charging stations are free while the others are for a fee. There's something for everyone whether you want to bowl or enjoy a drink in the crystal lounge. I appreciated the late night Vibes when ordering from the cafe from your phone. Overall I definitely would come back and extend my stay even longer.

Outstanding Experience with the Ethan Olavidez! I just want to take a moment to recognize the Ethan who was working the tables during my first visit. From the moment I sat down, he made me feel comfortable and welcomed. You could tell he truly care about the players and the overall vibe on the floor. It’s not often you come across someone who balances professionalism and personality so well. Ethan turned what could’ve been a regular casino night into a memorable experience. Big thanks for that!

The National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada is a must-visit for car enthusiasts and history buffs. With over 220 antique and vintage cars on display, the museum offers themed exhibits that provide educational and historical insights. From classic American muscle cars to European sports and racing vehicles, the collection showcases decades of automotive innovation. The museum also serves as a unique event space for various occasions such as corporate training, weddings, receptions, and special events.
The National Car Museum is a phenomenal destination! Even as someone who isn’t a huge car enthusiast, I was captivated by the impressive collection. Each vehicle is displayed with detailed plaques outlining its unique history, manufacturing origins, historical uses, and original cost. The 1938 Phantom Corsair in Gallery 4, valued at over $2 million as of April 2025, is a showstopper! From movie cars to race cars, emergency vehicles, and fire trucks, there’s something for everyone. This non-profit museum, closely tied to the Harrah Casino and Resort, also features an amazing children’s play area, making it a great spot for those with kids or grandkids. I spent over two hours here, and the time flew by. Two thumbs up for anyone interested in automotive history—you won’t be disappointed!

Wow! We were excited about seeing this place, but had no idea how encompassing and incredible the collections and it were. So many things to see. So many incredible stories. Cannot recommend the docent tour that starts at 1:30 PM daily enough! Our tour guide was excellent. Very informative and brought things to life in a chronological history. It was a great experience. You’ll need lots of time to explore all of the galleries. Well worth it!!!

The National Automobile Museum in Reno is an absolute must-see for anyone visiting the area. Located downtown along the Truckee River, this world-class museum celebrates the golden age of the automobile with one of the most impressive and beautifully displayed car collections in the country. The museum was born from the legendary collection of Bill Harrah, the gaming pioneer who spent decades amassing more than 1,400 classic cars. After his passing, the community came together to save a portion of his incredible collection, which now forms the heart of this museum. The result is a stunning tribute to automotive history, innovation, and artistry — all under one roof. The layout is fantastic, guiding visitors through themed galleries that feel like walking through time. You can stroll past early horseless carriages from the 1890s, gleaming luxury models from the Roaring Twenties, powerful muscle cars, and even one-of-a-kind celebrity vehicles. Some of the most famous pieces include the 1907 Thomas Flyer that won the New York to Paris Race in 1908, Elvis Presley’s 1973 Cadillac Eldorado, Frank Sinatra’s sleek 1961 Ghia, and the quirky “Jerrari” — a Jeep Wagoneer powered by a Ferrari V12 engine. Each car has its own story, and the exhibits bring those stories to life with detailed displays and historical settings. What really makes the National Automobile Museum stand out is the people. The staff and volunteers are friendly, passionate, and extremely knowledgeable. They clearly love what they do and are always happy to share fascinating facts or answer questions. Their enthusiasm makes the experience feel personal and engaging, whether you’re a lifelong car enthusiast or just someone who appreciates craftsmanship and history. The entire space is clean, well-organized, and thoughtfully designed — perfect for families, travelers, and locals alike. Every corner of the museum offers something interesting, from classic designs to rare engineering marvels. It’s easy to spend a few hours exploring and still feel like you’ve only scratched the surface. In short, the National Automobile Museum is one of Reno’s true treasures — a place filled with history, heart, and horsepower. A definite must-visit when you’re in town.

The stadium offers more than just baseball games; it hosts various local events and provides tours for visitors to learn about the history of sports in Reno.
I’m not usually a baseball ⚾️ fan but I really enjoyed seeing the Reno Aces game. The 🌭 hotdogs here are amazing 🤩. It also has a nice area park for kids to play. I will definitely 💯 come back and try more food. 🍲 The staff here are really friendly and nice. 😊 it was such a great experience.

This was an easy to navigate ball field with lots of service options. The restrooms were kept clean and rarely had a line every time I went. We attended two of the Banana Ball games with 10,000 people in attendance. We were in the berm. Security did a good job of making sure people weren't standing at the fence, so the view was never blocked.

We always have the Best time at the Ball Park! Food is great with lots of choices. I love that there are many bars throughout the park, even self-checkout stations. The MC keeps everyone entertained throughout the game and makes it fun for the whole family!

Great fireworks display after certain games. Easy entry and exit of ballpark. Labeled wonderfully for seating. Vendor lines are quick. Great experience overall.

Gr8 park, I am a big fan of intimate games. Parking for the game sucks. Eric the president of the Aces and friends with the owner is ruining the park. So anti social, almost uncomfortable in his own skin. Poor choice, is my opinion.
Brien P — Google review
A great little ballpark. Big enough to accommodate the attendees but intimate enough that it feels like a family outing. The digital displays are sharp and easy to read from anywhere in the stadium. The field lights are bright and disperse the light well throughout the stadium. Lastly, the staff works very efficiently, from the concession stands, ushers, and field workers. The whole team works well and provides visitors with a fantastic experience.
Roy A — Google review
Wonderful entertainment and great staff. Non-stop action. Concessions were many and food was great (photos). Security was tight, where isn't it today? But staff was pleasant. The field was beautiful, the action and the crowd were electrified. A home run hitter rounds third scoring 2 runs. The ball went over the centerfield fence and onto the railroad tracks behind the stadium! A freak hail storm ended the game early but the fans didn't want to leave.

I was pleasantly surprised by how clean the room was at this resort. Many times casino properties are not the best. It smelled, looked and felt clean in the room. The room was very functional with a nice charging station next to the bed. Nice TV and couch for relaxing. Nice view from the 17th floor. Hotel staff was quick with check in.

Location is right in downtown, the connection to all the other casinos is pretty cool. The building is definitely on the older side so it comes with a grain of salt. The room wasn’t amazing by any means but everything was clean and worked as it should so besides being a little old the hotel was pretty good. The other hotels beat el derado out on food but since they are connected it’s a simple walk to the other side! Overall enjoyed our experience here
Vortex 1 — Google review
My review is based on the experience we were expecting from all marketing around this hotel. Regardless if you are going for the casino experience or in our case, just a little luxury and R&R, I think it fails. While we paid resort fees, I am really not sure for what? We arrived 2 hours after check-in time and our room still wasn't ready per the self check-in kiosk. After a long day driving, quite disappointing. A lady behind the desk did find us another room that was ready, but a downgrade to what we paid for. We get to our room and wow, dust everywhere on tables, used lotion in bathroom, no tea, just 2 coffee pods but not enough sugar for that, and 2 cups. Beds were hard...well you get the picture. Not different motel 6 except the price plus resort fees. Casino was poor, sports area was just screaming and foul language, no atmosphere whatsoever. Maybe our expectations were too high from what we read but definitely won't be back. For the money we paid, I am sure we could have done a lot better than that.
Ivan R — Google review
We just had an overnight stay at the El Dorado and had a great time. Everything in the room was nice. Clean and felt comfortable except for one disappointment. We got in late and found out the shower didn't work at all. Not sure if pipes had been worked on or if maintenance did something to the handle, but it was too late to bother with it and we checked out the next day. But we paid a good amount for the room, would expect that maintenance would have made sure it worked if they did something.
Stacie L — Google review
Always good service. The regular ooms are nice and spacious comparatively speaking and are more up to date than other casinos in the area, but may need a refresh. The spa suites where I typically stay are very nice. Highly recommend it. If you can, try to get the ones with a double door entry. You'll see why I recommend it.
F S — Google review
We checked in around 10:15PM and were immediately concerned seeing a few homeless individuals inside the casino area. On the way to our tower, two more were lingering by the elevator doors, which made us feel unsafe. The most unsettling moment was when one even asked us for our room card to access the elevator, this raised serious questions about hotel security. On the positive side, the food was tasty and the room, while dated, was clean. For a four-star property, the price is quite reasonable, though the lower rate seems to reflect the current situation. Overall, this hotel works for a short stay of a night or two, but I would not recommend it for longer visits, especially if safety and security are a priority.
Viv W — Google review
Rooms were standard. Nice and clean. I understand it is the main strip of reno but there was a car sitting in a parking lot across the street that was blaring it's soundsystem until almost 2 am. This sound system literally shook my windows and light fixtures and I was 9 stories up. I couldn't believe that was legal! I was also VERY disappointed to find they had removed all buffets in the entire complex. Literally the whole point of staying there is the buffets. Guess I'll be staying at the Atlantis or peppermill from now on. Maybe I will have a quieter room! The people and staff were great!
Desaray T — Google review
There are much better options in Reno for hotels! The ED’s sister casino, Silver Legacy, is much nicer. Our non-smoking room smelled like an ashtray, the water for the shower was lukewarm and did not drain, the curtains did not cover the entire window (letting light in all night), the white sheets were grey, and the bartender at a small video poker bar told he was too busy to take our order. Also, check in was a nightmare. The line was long, the check in kiosks were not functioning because of poor cell phone reception in the area, and only a few elevators were operating. There is free parking and Strata is an enjoyable dining experience. We visit Reno many times a year, but will never come back to ED except to park. Update: we complained and were moved to another room. We soon learned that Reno has no noise ordinance downtown. I want to thank the considerate person with massive speakers in the back of his Tahoe who played music all night (both nights) in the parking lot across the street. Those speaker provided for a soothing massage throughout a sleepless night. NEVER AGAIN!

Super friendly staff. Affordable. So many places to eat and drink. The only downfall for me was that I wish it was a little cleaner. Bathroom shower could of used a good scrub. And the coffee pod was still in the machine when I went to use it. Also our floors ice machine was broken. And no microwaves in the room. We will be staying here in the future for sure!

It's a casino....with all the smoking, characters, wait for the elevators, etc. The room I couldn't complain about at all. It was cleaner than some chains that I stay in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Location was 10 or so minutes from the airport and there was a hotel shuttle than ran mostly consistently on the half hour. I was here for an event, as such I did not choose this location for any specific reason. The event staff was helpful, rooms were adequate depending on the group size, and overall environment was a bit noisy (it's a casino after all!). The restaurants were surprisingly good - food options were excellent and staff great. It's not Vegas, but nobody was expecting it to be.

I had read a number of reviews before my stay and was a little concerned what I was going to. Upon arrival, I used the fast check-in seamlessly and went to my room. This was clean and well presented. Throughout my 2 week stay my room was cleaned daily, always to a high standard. The elevators worked well my entire stay so if there had been issues, they were obviously fixed. The staff were very pleasant and helpful also, and overall, my stay was a pleasant one. The resort fees and various taxes added on to the room rate I find confusing. I would rather just know what the total room cost is up front and pay that. The overall nightly cost though was very reasonable. I only mention this in the hope that hotels like this become a bit more transparent with their charges.

I’ve stayed at the silver legacy, probably six times in the past. In the 90s and 2000s and it was an exciting, thriving casino and hotel. The casino was packed with people and the nightlife was lively. Now however, having just stayed there, it is a mere shadow of its former self. The hotel and rooms are dated and tired. Minimal staff to help a person out. However, there is a robot kiosk that you can check into your room with! The casino is probably 30 or 40% emptier than it used to be. Big gaps of carpeted real estate with no gaming. The tables and slot machines were sparsely attended. The entire experience was a sad site altogether. It bums me out because I had some really good times there and it is definitely on the decline. I don’t know why… Maybe online gambling? Maybe the price of things and inflation? Either way it’s sad.

We went to the Silver Lehacy to see the bands X and Los Lobos. The show was great. We did not stay there overnight. The hotel concier6 was very nice e and friendly. He told us where the show was inside the casino and where we could park our rv for the night for free. We would go there again for great entertainment.

Our room would not get below 73 degrees so we were hot and did not sleep well. The bathrooms are nice. Beds on the firm side if that is your preference. It is a long way from Valet to check in and the rooms. Just something to be cognizant of.
Kimberly H — Google review
Stayed here Nov 2025. Half of the elevators were down and it was taking about 30 minutes to get up and down. We walked down 10 flights of stairs and the exit door was locked. This building is a literal trap if there is a fire or emergency. I have called to talk to management 3 times and they are ignoring me. While staying there I reported this to the front desk, and in 2 days I didn't see any maintenance people working on the elevators. This place is super crappy and moldy. The rooms are humid. The ice machine is moldy. I won't be going back there.

Boreal Mountain California is a vast winter sports destination conveniently located off the 80 with ample parking and easy access to tickets. The facilities offer plenty of amenities such as bathrooms, food options, and a well-stocked shop with rentals available. The staff is known for being helpful, making it an ideal place for families and beginners. Visitors recommend bringing your own food and purchasing tickets online for a seamless experience.
I live in San Francisco, which takes me 3 hours to drive here and another 3 hours back. This is the only place that closes at 8 PM, making it the most worthwhile option for me. The lift tickets and equipment rentals are the most affordable in the Tahoe area. The food is okay, the cafeteria is spacious, there are plenty of restrooms, and the staff are always polite, friendly, and helpful.

I absolutely loved everything about Boreal Mountain, California! The snow was an incredible 5-7 feet high, creating the perfect winter wonderland. Booking your tickets in advance is a must to avoid long wait times, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience. This time, we opted for tubing, since we had already gone skiing the day before. The tubing session lasted 1-2 full hours, and it was an absolute blast! The excitement of sliding down the slopes made for an unforgettable experience. If you arrive early, there are great food spots nearby where you can grab a bite before hitting the slopes. The entire experience was fun, seamless, and truly worth it—I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thrilling winter adventure!

Boreal Mountain Ski Resort is a well-loved destination for skiers and snowboarders looking for convenience, accessibility, and variety. Located right off Interstate 80 near Truckee, it’s one of the most easily accessible resorts in the Tahoe region, making it a popular choice for day trips. The resort is especially known for its night skiing, offering well-lit slopes that allow guests to extend their time on the mountain long after sunset. Its terrain parks are a highlight, with creative features and progressive setups that attract freestyle skiers and snowboarders of all levels. For beginners, Boreal offers approachable slopes and a strong ski school program, making it an excellent place to learn the sport. Families appreciate its compact layout, where it’s easy to keep track of everyone without the sprawl of larger resorts. While its vertical drop is smaller than nearby giants like Squaw or Northstar, Boreal makes up for it with a lively, youthful atmosphere. The resort has also embraced innovation, with Woodward Tahoe offering world-class training facilities for action sports enthusiasts. Dining and lodge amenities are straightforward but efficient, providing quick bites and warm spaces to recharge between runs. Overall, Boreal delivers a fun, energetic, and approachable ski experience that combines accessibility with a strong sense of community.

First time here, and it was excellent! My only challenge was I didn't know where the EV charging was when I first parked (they are on the far right of the Woodward building). Then we didn't know exactly how to get to the tubing from the kiosks. They need better signage for both. Especially arrows to point to EV charging as you drive in would be great. They should also plow the EV spots as snow tended to pile up there (just be careful with the cords). I didn't have a problem with my Cybertruck in off-road mode but a regular car might have trouble. Also it was interesting to see the trucks doing donuts in the parking lot with people around. Definitely would go back. Would be nice if the EV chargers could do more than 32 amps of power because part of that was taken to heat up the battery so we really didn't get much of a charge.

We came here for tubing but it was already amazing! Had a lot of fun tubing and it was really safe and family friendly!

This is a very beginner friendly spot to ski with the entire family. However, I recommend buying your own gear before coming here. The rental prices are over inflated and the gear is of lower quality.

Plenty of parking spaces, 2 EV car chargers spots. Short walking distance to the entry/register/rental area. Indoor and outdoor seating area on 2nd floor and 3rd floor to refill your body and mind (just little hard to walk up n down with ski boots on). Friendly staffs. Many different level areas great for all levels. They have tubing area for kids. Everyone in the family can find fun here.

First time there, great place for beginners and all levels of riders, especially for Park Snowboarding/Skiing, Trails are very easy to navigate and staff are very nice and respectful, Food prices are not bad and decent selection of Beer and Mixed drinks. Weather was amazing and Had a great time honing my skills at this resort, great on a tuesday, Will go again soon!
