Bodies of Water
Sweet Arrow Lake County Park offers a delightful outdoor experience for nature lovers of all ages. The flat hike along the creek is a peaceful, scenic walk, made even more enjoyable by the well-maintained boardwalk that leads to a charming waterfall. The sound of the water is soothing, making it a perfect spot for a break or a photo opportunity. The park is thoughtfully designed with families in mind, featuring a playground that keeps children entertained and public bathrooms that add to the convenience. In addition to the creekside trail, the path around the lake offers beautiful views and a chance to spot local wildlife. This place was clean, well kept and enjoyable. The paths are either gravel, paved or wooden bridge type walking. Its easy walking. There is a slight uphill but only so you can see the waterfall. I absolutely love the information plaques and how they have braille on them as well
Valerie F — Google review
This park is rathe sizable and has a pavilion, flush restrooms, amphitheater, boardwalk, Disc Golf, Lake with weekend boat rental and waterfall. Although the boardwalk goes all the way to the waterfall it is moderately difficult for someone on a wheelchair that may not be motorized.
Michael H — Google review
As you step onto the wooden path at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park, the forest around you comes alive with the sounds of nature. The gentle rustling of leaves, the distant call of birds, and the soft crunch of your footsteps on the wooden planks create a symphony of tranquility. The path winds through a lush canopy of trees, their branches forming a natural archway above you. Sunlight filters through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground. The air is fresh and cool, filled with the earthy scent of the forest. As you walk, you notice the vibrant colors of wildflowers peeking out from the underbrush, adding splashes of color to the green landscape. The path gently slopes downward, and you can hear the faint sound of rushing water growing louder with each step. Finally, you round a bend and catch your first glimpse of the waterfall. It’s a stunning sight, with water cascading down a series of natural rock formations into a clear pool below. The waterfall is about 12 feet high, and the water sparkles in the sunlight as it tumbles down. You take a moment to soak in the beauty of the scene. The sound of the water is soothing, and you feel a sense of peace wash over you. You find a spot on a nearby rock and sit down, letting the cool mist from the waterfall refresh your face. As you sit there, you can’t help but feel grateful for this moment of serenity in nature. The forest, the wooden path, and the waterfall at Sweet Arrow Lake County Park have provided a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Beautiful park we stumbled upon on our road trip. It was worth it and even stopped again on the way back home. There was a nice playground and there’s different hiking trails. Definitely worth a visit!
Magali — Google review
Beautiful park to walk around. We walked to the waterfall. Very easy on the boardwalk that is there. You can go off on the other trails there.
Susan P — Google review
The place was set off way in the back area , nice quite area , to walk trails and or even have a wedding ..
B H — Google review
We had our September 2025 wedding ceremony at the lake. It was beautiful, we could not of asked for a more beautiful day. The grounds are gorgeous and set the mood for a romantic ceremony. The downfall of Sweet Arrow Lake is that it is a public, even though you pay to use it. There were random people walking around throughout the day and made for some awkwardness. The workers are not the most helpful or energetic to help you either. They made planning a little stressful and they should look into an actual wedding coordinator. If you don’t mind random strangers on your day then this place is for you!

Wolf Sanctuary of PA

Wildlife refuge
Nature & Parks
Nestled in the tranquil woodlands of northern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Wolf Sanctuary of PA is a family-owned refuge offering guided tours and special events like Full Moon nights. Spanning over 80 acres, this sanctuary provides a unique opportunity to observe wolves and wolf-dogs in their natural habitat while serving as an educational center for wildlife conservation. Visitors can sign up for guided tours to learn more about these majestic creatures and enjoy the serene surroundings.
The guided tour was a fantastic experience. Our guide Kristen was extremely knowledgeable not only about wolves in general but also the back story of each individual wolf. This is a forever home for these wolves and most definitely not a zoo.
Elizabeth H — Google review
We went for our dad's 75th birthday on a full moon night. I would not recommend taking your older loved ones here. Hilly, gravel trails are what you walk on. We loved the enthusiasm and knowledge of the volunteers. We hated that more tickets were sold than expected (which we know helps the wolves) and we didn't get the small group tour to learn. The wolves are majestic and their howling beautiful. We did not get to see the entire sanctuary because there was not enough volunteers, that made the trails clogged with too many people. We took chairs and carried them. That sucked. You DO NOT NEED CHAIRS. There are benches and a fire pit by the gift store at the end of everything. My suggestion: bypass the moon nights and go when you can score a small group tour of the ENTIRE facility. We were thankful for all the knowledge the pony-tailed volunteer dropped on our large group of about 100 people. We appreciated the no kids under 16 rule for the moon night's too. There's such a rich, wonderful history to this place and we wanted to hear all of it. 5 stars for the wolves. 5 stars for the volunteers. 1 star for over selling tickets. Bottom line: go for a day time visit with a small group.

We actually had the pleasure of staying in one of 3 cottage's on the property. We stayed in the Paymaster's Offfice. It was an adorable cozy place that had a gas fireplace, a large air jet soaking tub, kitchenette that included a coffee maker, electric tea kettle, microwave, cook top with two burners, dishes, silverware, pots and pans. Breakfast is included with your stay and was delivered to the cottage by Maggie. Also included is a tour of the wolves. In the early morning hours, we had the pleasure of hearing a symphony of wolves. What a beautiful way to wake up. Everyone should experience it at least once. They take great care for these beautiful creatures. Our tour guide Michelle was very nice and knowledgeable about every wolf on the property. They all have a story to be told. I highly recommend going in the fall when the wolves are more active due to the cooler weather.
Alma W — Google review
I loved my visit to the Wolf sanctuary. The volunteer was awesome and he worked there for over 20 years volunteering, extremely knowledgeable and I learned a lot. I will certainly be going back when all the leaves are down so you can have complete full visual of the wolves. The grounds are pristine and well kept. Can you tell I loved it there?
MomMom M — Google review
We did the full moon night walk. The wolves were on and off active. We learned a lot from the guides. I wish you were able to know the entertainment before booking. There was a poet our night and not live music.
Chris H — Google review
This is a really interesting place to visit. I would recommend it! It is an experience you will remember for a long time. You get to see them up close and personal. How they interact with each other and the guide does a great job explaining anything you want to know about them. You will find it educational and entertaining with guided public and private tours. Book ahead when they have limited availability. They also have a gift shop if you want a souvenir.
Dragonfly — Google review
This place is incredible. The tour guides are incredibly knowledgeable, the wolves are respected and intentionally cared for, 1.5 hour out from Philly - worth the drive. Will visit again. Close to Shady Maple if you want some good food after your visit
Caroline D — Google review
We had a private tour with Denny; he was such a knowledgeable tour guide and passionate about the sanctuary. We got to see the beautiful wolves before their feedings, so they were active and eager to be fed. Hearing the wolves howling was amazing! In the 2 hours we really got to know most of the 55 wolves the sanctuary cares for. Denny was amazing and made this experience unforgettable. Highly recommend this experience!

LancasterHistory Museum & Research Center

Mentioned on

History museum
Sights & Landmarks
LancasterHistory is a local-history venue that offers a variety of attractions, including exhibits, galleries, an arboretum, and tours of President Buchanan's home. The history of Lancaster dates back to the 1st century when a Roman fort was built in the area. After the Romans left Britain, little was known about Lancaster until the 11th century when it fell under Norman rule.
What a nice day at the Lancaster Museum. Excellent perspective on the last 300 years of history. I learned about the past presidents and some of the people who I’ve heard of, but did not know how they contributed. I’m looking forward to coming back while the library is open.
Baron M — Google review
A nice facility. As far as being a museum, there is not much in the way as far as exhibits go. The history aspect we suspect is for researchers eyes only. The real draw is the fact that this is where you must buy the tickets to see the adjacent presidential home.
WV L — Google review
Nice historical look into the life of Pennsylvania's first president and his homestead.
JD — Google review
The Lancaster History Museum and President James Buchanan's Wheatland are the same venue. We didn't peruse the museum collection, but watched the movie and toured the mansion. The excellent movie explains Buchanan's political life, going deep into Buchanan's motives and actions that failed to keep the nation together. The house and its furnishings are almost entirely original to Buchanan's time there and the tour guide gives an excellent summary of Buchanan's personal life.
Thomas M — Google review
Loved learning about Pres. Buchanan and especially enjoyed the house tour. Absolutely beautiful and authentic. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. The gardens were beautiful and the out buildings were interesting.
Claire K — Google review
This location, The Home of former President James Buchanon, was absolutely fascinating. The home is in lovely condition for it's obvious age, and they are doing wonders restoring and preserving the originality of the home. The volunteer tour guide was deeply knowledgeable about the family, and hilarious, VERY quick-witted!
Jason H — Google review
Very insightful. Interesting exhibits. Large collection of historic items. They can help with research if you are interested to learn more about something specific related to Lancaster such as your and/or local family lineage. Definitely worth a visit!

Nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania, Mount Hope Estate & Winery is a captivating destination that beautifully marries history with the art of winemaking. This 19th-century mansion serves as a vibrant hub for wine enthusiasts, featuring a delightful wine shop and tasting room where visitors can sample over 20 varieties of their handcrafted wines, alongside beer and cider options at select locations. Beyond its impressive beverage offerings, Mount Hope is renowned for hosting various festivals throughout the year, including the beloved Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire.
Amazing! You don't need to buy tickets if you're just going to the winery and it is so worth it. $5 for 5 tastings and you get to keep the glass. Any tastings are $1 and you can go through the whole menu. Definitely worth it and very cute spot. There's place to sit while tasting though, keep that in mind!
Deanna K — Google review
The place has a lot to offer with plenty of activities for both adults and kids. The food is good, though definitely on the pricey side. Sundays get really crowded, so expect a lot of people. Overall, a fun spot but a bit expensive.
ALEXIS S — Google review
My first time at the fair and what an experience!!!! So much to do there and many cool lil gift shops and stands. Parking was super easy also. We can't wait til next year to visit again!!
Adam Y — Google review
Went to the PA Renn Faire and as always....it was amazing!!! The costumes, the food, the ale!!! Parking was a breeze and there was virtually no wait. Scotch eggs y'all!!! Also the Peach Vanilla Cider. That was from another planet!
Luke N — Google review
The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is always a great time! The entertainment is usually great, the food is always excellent, and just the overall environment is fun and enjoyable. It is a rain or shine event so you better be prepared because they don't stop no matter what the weather does. Yes it's harder to enjoy when it's raining, but as long as it is warm enough just suck it up and enjoy yourself! The Jousting is always awesome, the idea of living the medieval life speaks to my soul LOL.
Rob W — Google review
The grounds were exciting and diverse. The characters were talented, well dressed, and extremely entertaining. Though, during the final Pub Sing on the last day of the season, one of the main characters, King James of Scotland, kissed his right hand man. I don't care what each person's personal deviant affiliation is, that's between them, their partner, and God. What bothers me is when they put their preferences on display on the main stage without giving the audience a choice as to whether or not to watch. There are many children in the audience and mine were left with questions I was not prepared to answer during a fun family outing. The last time I went to the PA RenFaire there was no signs of sexual preferences or innuendo on display for the main story line events. We steered clean of all the shows that were marked Not Suitable For Children.
Grom1778 — Google review
The rennfaires are always so much fun... expensive, but fun... haven't really found any food that I'd order again. I need to plan to stop somewhere for breakfast beforehand next time.
Karley B — Google review
We go here for the Renaissance Faire and it's a hoot! Semi permanent structures add to the setting as you step into a fantasy world based on ye olde England. Some merchants, including food, only take cash.

We went to see Brantley Gilbert for their summer concert series and had a great time! Perfect set up and the show was awesome!

Our family attended the zebra, ostrich, camel and horse races! We all had a wonderful time. The facility was clean and well staffed. We ventured into the casino after the races and cooled off playing some hot new slots. Overall, we had a wonderful time and will plan to come back again!
Henry G — Google review
I have been here a few times and was recently there for the exotic races they do every year. Seeing the camels and ostriches race was a pretty cool experience, but was very drawn out. Other then that it is a pretty standard casino. The rewards program is kinda subpar in my opinion. You really do not benefit unless you have a huge bankroll for the average person.
Jack S — Google review
We attended the lantern festival at Hollywood casino. Very well coordinated, peacefully and orderly. We are one of the vendors. The organizers are very courteous and helpful. We would love to go back for the event. Strands by Jenny

ZooAmerica is an 11-acre walk-through zoo located next to Hersheypark. It features over 200 animals native to North America, including mountain lions, owls, and reindeer. The zoo offers educational programs and is open year-round except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Visitors can also enjoy the nearby Hersheypark water park with attractions like the Shore wave pool and the Intercoastal Waterway lazy river.
I visited the zoo for the first time with my husband and my children. My children that we brought are age 10, 2, and 9 months. We got there just as the zoo opened. The parking lot is small, but it doesn't seem to be an issue because people come and go rather quickly. There was an attendant there to help people park when we were leaving. The zoo is handicapped accessible and the staff was all very friendly. My kids enjoyed watching the monorail go through the zoo. The zoo itself is small, but has a lot of animals. Some of the bird exhibits were empty because of the avian flu. As I said, we got there just as the zoo opened and a camp was coming through, which meant that a lot of staff were present and answering questions, which was very nice. It was also feeding time for many of the animals, which meant we got to see all of them. It was a great time and we will definitely be back!
Kylie P — Google review
So many cool animals to see, a nice very walkable smaller zoo with alot to see. We got to feed the otters which was so fun. Iris and Link were great little critters. We had to get the giant otter stuffy after that experience. Make sure to book ahead of time if you want to do a feeding. The zookeepers were so nice.
Jessica F — Google review
Beautiful zoo and such a relaxing, educational and fun time! Animals looked very happy an healthy and great exhibits. Cute gift shop and we look forward to returning!
Jennifer P — Google review
The family loves to go there at least twice a year. Last ti.e, it was muggy and sprinkling on and off l, but the animals were very lively, noth indoors and outdoors, totally made the kids' day. I would suggest going about 2 hours before they close; not crowded at all, easier to get to exhibits and overall faster exploration nifty the whole zoo.
Brantley C — Google review
We were excited that this Zoo is now included in Hershey Park tickets. It was hot on the day we went and this area was shaded and cool. It was a great break from the heat and there was enough to see with about and hour or 2 of time.
Lindsey — Google review
My day is 3-1/2 yrs old & she absolutely loved the Zoo! Neat little place to hit while at the park. Very educational as well!
Scott T — Google review
Good small zoo suitable for little kids. It is doable in 60-90 min depending on how interested the kids are. Just a heads up the parking lot is small. Best time to see animals active is when the zoo opens or early evening.

The Hershey Story Museum is an engaging and interactive museum that delves into the life of Milton S. Hershey, the man behind one of the world's most famous chocolate brands. Located in the heart of Hershey, Pennsylvania, this family-friendly museum offers a variety of exhibits and collections that showcase Hershey's history, lifestyle, and legacy.
A fabulous place to learn about Milton Hershey, the Hershey Chocolate Company, and the surrounding community of Hershey, PA (not officially a town). The staff were friendly and the exhibits were a balanced combination of period artifacts in themed cases and interactive screens to better understand the story. There is a token given to activate the interactive screens, and you can personalize them! Overall, it was an informal and entertaining venue, and I would recommend the museum to anybody that wants to know more about my third cousin.
Cole M — Google review
This was a great place to learn about Hershey - not just the Hershey company but the town too. There is a scavenger hunt to keep younger kids entertained. Quite a few interactive exhibits. Add on experiences include the Chocolate Lab (make your own chocolate bar and learn about chocolate) and tastings. The chocolate bar experience at the lab is different than make your own Candy Bar at Hershey's Chocolate World. There is also a café where you can get something to eat or drink (great food and coffee options).
Laura I — Google review
A great stop if you’re short on time! The museum offers a nice mix of the history behind the Hershey business and Milton Hershey’s lasting impact on the town. Well organized, informative, and easy to explore without feeling rushed. Perfect for anyone who enjoys learning the story behind the famous chocolate brand and the community it built. Chocolate tasting was a fun addition.

Fun way to learn more about Hershey. Some really interesting interactive aspects to the museum which is great for kids. Spent about an hour walking around. We enjoyed learning more about the town. The gift shop was ok - it would be nice if some collectors tins or historic packing was sold to reflect more of the Hershey history or one of a kind chocolates, just available there. We paid extra for the chocolate tasting at the end for adults and kids. Very tasty. I do wish that kids could keep their tasting mug, especially considering the price of the tastings, as our little one really wanted it and it would have been a nice keepsake. A chocolate sample to take home would have also been really appreciated. We offered to even pay for the kids mug but were told no. All things considered it was a nice visit for an hour or 2.

The Hershey store is massive. Every kind of chocolate you want. Plus all the other candy's owned by Hershey, like Jolly Ranchers. Took the factory tour and it was quite informative.

Hershey Gardens, a 23-acre botanical garden and arboretum, was established by Milton S. Hershey in 1937 as a gift to the community and a tribute to his wife. The gardens boast rare trees, themed gardens, and seasonal flower displays that offer visitors unique floral experiences. Highlights include the Historic Hershey Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, and Herb Garden. It's a serene sanctuary for nature enthusiasts and reflects the founder's commitment to cultivating natural wonders.
Beautiful gardens! We stopped by for an hour or so and just loved walking around. The butterfly atrium was also wonderful. The children's garden had a lot of fun areas for the kids to explore - flowers, statues, musical elements, play areas. We loved exploring. The flowers everywhere are gorgeous and just smell amazing. Would highly recommend visiting.

We had a wonderful time at Hershey Gardens! The roses were stunning and still in full bloom, even in late summer. The Japanese Garden was a highlight—especially the meditation spaces, which provided such a peaceful atmosphere. While we didn’t have any young children with us, we still really enjoyed exploring the Children’s Garden—it’s creative and fun for all ages. Overall, a beautiful and relaxing experience. We’re looking forward to coming back with our grandchildren in the future.
Robert A — Google review
What a marvelous afternoon! I definitely will plan a longer visit, so much to see and experience. Lots of easy parking leading up to the Gardens. Butterfly exhibition, year-round! Great gift shop with local products and souvenirs. Thousands of blooming rose bushes when I came, mid-September. Unbelievably gorgeous. I didn’t get to the Children’s Garden or anything beyond the rose bushes, I was always over-stimulated and hot (bring water & snacks!), but so happy I came here. Plan ahead and enjoy!!

What a wonderful experience. This was the first time at Hershey gardens. The gardens were beautiful, even in October, the roses were still in bloom, and there were plenty of activities for kids to do. The gardens are large and there is a lot to see here. The main attraction is definitely a butterfly garden, it was wonderful! I'd come just to see that again!
Alan S — Google review
I love this place! So pretty during early October as the leaves change color! Great weather for the garden! And the staff is great!! I recommend visiting in the fall after school starts or in the spring before school starts then you can take your time enjoying everything! Im glad I brought my camera to take some pretty photos!
LizTheVampire — Google review
The gardens are really gorgeous, the roses were incredible. Fun spots throughout for kids to stop and have fun. We visited pumpkin Palooza and it was perfect for a fall fun day. The butterfly room has so many different butterflies, definitely check it out. They do have a family bathroom with a changing table for little ones.

A peaceful botanical garden with a space to meet and greet butterflies at the start. This garden is right next to the hotel Hershey. A beautifully curated garden with lots of nooks to sit and read a book or walk and talk through. It may seem small but the winding paths take longer than you think. This is a great way to decompress after Hershey park or go for a walk after your spa experience.

The Hershey gardens is beautiful no matter the time of year! I was there for thier pumpkin palooza and it was fantastic! The designs were really cool and they did a lot of work painting them! I was especially fond of the pac man set growing up with that. I greatly enjoyed all the painted pumpkins and learning about the creepy crawlers! I may make this a Halloween tradition!

Water & Amusement Parks
Hersheypark is a chocolate-themed amusement park located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Spanning 110 acres, the park offers over 65 rides and attractions including water rides, 11 roller coasters, and more than 20 kiddie rides. Visitors can also enjoy live shows and dining options within the park. The Boardwalk area provides a nostalgic experience reminiscent of old-fashioned seaside towns with popular water attractions like the Shore wave pool and the Intercoastal Waterway lazy river.
Very nice amusement park . Overall pretty clean, employees were all friendly. The lines can get pretty long for rides as well so do some research before going. Best rides there imo are wild cats revenge, candymonium and sky rush. The Halloween haunt here was really well done overall and there were overall plenty of scare actors.

Fun place!! Free Hershey ride through the hersey manufacturing process(totally staged and animated but interesting) so much candy!! A dessert area, fill your own Reeses Cup! Build your own candy bar and follow the whole process. There are plenty of food vendors there too all themed fir Hershey, chocolate and some savory selections too. You could easily spend hours there!

I have been to Hershey Park last Saturday and I loved it. The park was neat and clean, beautifully decorated for Halloween including a „scare zone“ at night time. Coasters were great! Especially enjoyed Wildcat‘s Revenge, Skyrush and Storm Runner. Will definitely come back!

It's a good park. I've been to many parks in the US and also in European countries. I can say that the price is a little high given the quality of the park. Overall, you can visit a couple of times. I can tell you that it’s better to buy express tickets if you go on weekends, because the waiting time is on average at least 35 minutes.

A sea of positive emotions! Even though we were with our little daughter, who is 4 years old, even my husband and I managed to ride the highest slides, taking turns. I didn't really like the system by which we ate; it would have been better without it.

This was my first trip to Hershey Park. Honestly had little expectations. However I was very impressed with several things: 1. Lots of shade trees around the common walking paths 2. Many ways to get from one place to another. 3. The amount of lifeguards am was a plus 4. The amount of restaurants was amazing 5. Ride selection for both young, teen and adults was perfect. 6. Rides look like they are in perfect order. Actually surpassing Disney in some ways. 7. New rides being added all the time. 8. Making great use of their entire space. My only complaints: 1. Monorail was down 2. Some areas had signs to get from place to place other intersections had none. (Made getting around difficult for first timers) 3. Exit out of main parking lot was confusing. We only saw one main exit sign and stumbled on it after driving around. Will come again. We live 10 hours away. Buy tickets online for deals.

We really had an excellent experience.. my grandson was able to get on a number of kids rides right away with no waiting. I highly suggest the one day meal plan. We were able to get burgers, fries and a large Coke each. Save chocolate world for the end when you're leaving so you can hit the air conditioning before you go and there are plenty of good deals in the checkout laying on the way out. Special shout outs to the attendant on the swing thing who was so engaging in sweet to the young kids really went out of his way to make that right. A great experience

Nissley Vineyards, located in Bainbridge, offers a variety of activities for wine enthusiasts. The vineyard produces 30 different types of wine from 14 varieties of grapes grown on their 30-acre plot. While self-guided tours are currently unavailable, visitors can still enjoy tastings and purchase bottles to savor on the premises where picnics are encouraged.
Visited during the week. No one else around. Beautiful grounds and helpful, knowledgable staff. Each wine I tried was fantastic. If I’m ever in the area again, I will definitely return.
Vanessa S — Google review
Do not ask questions unless you wanna be looked at sideways…they’ll pull out a book and attempted to answer, but very lack all knowledge regarding wine. Strictly reading from a book Will also let you know if it had been any busier they wouldn’t have any time to help you answer any questions regarding any of their wine. Cheeseboards are the ones you can purchase at Hannaford’s or any local grocery store. Nothing made here in House. Absolutely beautiful atmosphere and music was amazing. Highly recommend skipping this place and going to the next if you’re in the area other than it’s beauty, you will be disappointed If ownership could step up and get proper service here, it would really elevate the game No spit jar for wine No water unless you wanna pay for it No extra glass from switching from red to white or dry to sweet. Just truly taken back that NO staff has any wine knowledge. Very much a slow day and was more concerned with sitting in the staff lounge than learning there job. Wendy did try to be a learn some wine knowledge together. Overall beyond disappoint. Due to service alone. Very curious who owns this place and if they are remotely aware.

Great place to stop by and get some wine or a wine infused slushy and crackers. Was super hot and there’s no indoor seating that I was aware of, but friendly workers and got myself a mango slushy since that was one of the options. Had to sit inside my car because it was 93° out and I was not suffering sitting in the heat LMAO. Definitely recommend on a cool fall day.

Came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had a lovely time! Beautiful winery and fantastic wines! I’ll have to come back with my husband! The wine slushes are so tasty!

We made a quick stop on our anniversary and this place was so cute! Arlene was a pleasure to talk to and the wine was very good. We hope to make it back again when we are in the area!

We went on a Tuesday afternoon and had the entire place to ourselves on a beautiful September Day. A very relaxing experience. The gentleman in the tasting room was very attentive and kind. We even got a visit from the owners' sheepdog! Hubby does not like wine but they had about 5 local beers available and he was pleased with the ones he tried. I enjoyed the cab franc and the oak Chardonnay, both delicious!

We were a large group who reached out ahead of time to make sure the venue could host us/were prepared with staff. We arrived and were turned away or told we had to purchase tickets to the band on site and were not allowed to partake in a tasting. Our coordinator spoke with Dawn via email and then in person at the venue. She was rude and completely disregarded what she had told our coordinator via email in advance of our arrival. Would not recommend this vineyard. There are much kinder, more welcoming places in the area.

What an amazing afternoon! The staff was so friendly and helpful, and the scenery was just stunning! After sampling some wine, we took a walk around the property and were able to see the historic buildings and vines. It was a much needed, quiet afternoon. We will DEFINITELY return.

So much fun; definitely worth the trip to ride on the ferry! I can't believe it's been in continuous service since 1817! The guys were very friendly and answered all my questions. It takes about 20-30 minutes to get across. When you arrive at the campground, I recommend going into the campground shop and getting the stuff to play a free game of mini gulf before returning back.

It was a great time the captain let our 3-year-old granddaughter help him steer. The workers were very friendly.

This was such a fun thing to do on a Saturday morning. You can take your car across the river, or just go along for the ride. It is a easy pace across the river, lasting no more than 10-15 minutes. There was a college intern who gave us the history of the Millersburg Ferry and was available for questions. The Ferry takes you to the Liverpool Campground which has a camp store and a legendary ice cream stand. Hours during the summer are usually 10-4ish and run Wednesday through Sunday..check out their Facebook page for lots of good information.

What an awesome ride on history. Worth every penny. When you are taking a friend somewhere, you should casually drive down to the water and wait for the ferry. Great choice of ice cream flavors in a cone or dish.. order inside and pay, then pick up outside or pick out of the freezer by dish.. my personal favorite is cheesecake! You can also choose items such as baked goods, soda pop in bottles, and some simple olde tyme deli candies. You can visit the baby cows... you can pet them but be careful, they like to nibble and bite your clothes LOL then swing down to the milking area and say hi to the full grown mammas and give them a nice head rub!

Beautiful area along the Susquehanna, just north of the city of Harrisburg. Lots of room for the little ones to run around and explore. There is a restroom and also a small playground. For the adults, some interesting history and lots of areas to walk or sit down and enjoy nature.

Fort Hunter Park home of the Fort Hunter Mansion is a beautiful park along the Susquehanna River in Harrisburg. You can book a 45 minute tour of the mansion for about $9. I’ve been attending games on City Island since I was a kid in the 1980s and 1990s. So many fond memories. I still come to games each summer, at least a couple each year, and always have a blast. Harrisburg is lucky to have the Senators and such a great location for a minor league ballpark on City Island. There’s been a number of restorations and renovations done to the ballpark over the years, but it has only gotten better and improved the experience each time. Come out for a game, some peanuts and beer, and of course the mayflies (IYKYK). 👍🏼 I also have taken my son out to “Scout Nights” at the ballpark when he was younger. We always had a blast. The novelty of getting to be out in the field was something the young kids always got a kick out of.

Received a voucher for basic seats for a Senators game from Central PA Blood Bank for donating blood. I was able to upgrade to regular box seats for only $8. I haven't seen a game in some time, so was looking forward to it. Unfortunately I didn't realize that $1 hot dog night was such a draw and just really made the concession stands just a wait in line nightmare. The Senators weren't having a goodnight either so we were thankful when a random rainbow brightened the event. I'll give it another try on a less busy night. We had great seats at least.

Solid stadium for AA. The amenities are decent but could be improved. The signage is not great and you might end up in some utilities corner if you're not careful. It's in a really cool location that they don't quite take advantage of. View of the field is great. Fans are good.

My husband and I treated ourselves to a ride the day after our wedding and we loved every bit of our experience. Our guide was friendly and helpful, the horses were very well trained, and the trail itself was beautiful. Well worth the money and definitely planning to go back again - with friends!

It was one of the best birthday presents l ever got. Stephanie was amazing and made sure we all enjoyed our day. She guided us through the entire trek and the horses were just fantastic. They are beautiful creatures and seem very happy so kudos to Happy Hooves for looking after them. You get the full hour, the trail is a mix of hills, crossing streams and loved the challenge of guiding the horses through the different terrain. It was so peaceful and the scene was spectacular. After the hour ride we gave our horses some treats and interact with. l am sure lm not the only one to say l bonded with Fish who l will try and ride again.

My family and I went to Happy on Hooves on the one year anniversary of the passing of my brother. He loved to ride horses and we wanted to remember him doing what he loved. The farm was perfect for 6 beginner riders. We got just enough instructions so that we would be safe for the day without wasting time going over useless information. Each horse had his own unique personality which kept the trail ride amusing since certain horses did not like following. All in all it was a wonderful experience that I would highly recommend to all!

Stayed 2 nights with friends and our 4 kids we had cabins CC1 and CC4 reserved. Our stay was Sunday-Tuesday so we didnt feel the campground nor pool was crowded. I forgot to take pictures of the inside cabin but it's very primitive, nice sized table for 4 inside and 2 bunk beds, i found fitted sheets on top bunk hard to place on the tight fitted bed. Flat sheet or sleeping bag would work best. Our stay was very humid, be sure to bring several fans since there's electricity. We had to purchase ice several times, closest is at the pool concession you can access from outside without going in to the pool. If your camping the pool entrance is only $4 , which was well worth it. This pool and splash pad is one of the best pools I've visited. They're strict about the no food rule, no big deal for us. We packed lunch and just exited to eat our lunch for 45 min gave the kids a break without yelling at them to stay out of the pool and it made them focus and eat. There's not much shade inside the pool, your allowed to take in a canopy which is nice! Overall we had a really nice stay! Age range of kids was 2- 6 .

Hiking trails are mostly well-maintained with good variations in scenery and challenges such as elevation change. The full loop we did was about 6 miles, but there are more as well. There are some parts with mud and some downed trees but that is likely due to all the rain we have received. There is plenty of parking across the park and the restrooms were clean.

Nestled in the heart of Pennsylvania, Codorus State Park spans an impressive 3,490 acres and is a true haven for outdoor enthusiasts. At its center lies Lake Marburg, perfect for fishing and boating adventures. The park features numerous boat launches along the lake's picturesque peninsulas, making it easy to set sail or even rent a boat if you don’t have your own. For those who prefer land-based activities, there are ample hiking trails and designated hunting areas to explore.
Very nice state park to spend the week camping. Bath houses were clean and nice with 3 toilets and 2 shower stalls. They also have water fill station which was nice. We stayed in loop D spot 164 that did not have water hook up. Our spot was on more of a hill than it looks in the website photos so couldn't really use the picnic table without the feeling of sliding down the hill. The campground spots are pretty tight to back into. We had to drive up into the lot across from us just to get backed in, it's a good thing no other vehicle or camper were already parked there. We chose this location because it was only 30 min to Gettysburg and 1 hour to Lancaster so it was ideal for our trip. The pool was large and looked nice but we missed going the day we wanted to because it closed at 7pm and we spent to much time in Gettysburg so no feedback other than it looking nice. We drove around the lake the last night to catch the sunset from the marina side and it was so beautiful. Great spot to hike and ride bikes as well. Overall a great visit and great prices.

The campground is well maintained. The sites for RVs were a little close together. If you like tent only sites there a few closer to the water that had more privacy. Restroom facilities were updated and clean. Small store on site for ice/wood/necessities. The noise from the nearby road and train tracks can be a little distracting if you plan to sleep in.

I recently visited Codorus State Park, and I had a fantastic experience! Here are some highlights: - Clean Bathrooms: One of the first things I noticed was how well-maintained the bathrooms are. It's always a relief to find clean facilities when enjoying the great outdoors. - Private Camping Sites: The camping sites offer a good amount of privacy, allowing for a more relaxing experience. It felt like a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. - Proximity to Water: The park is conveniently located close to water, making it perfect for fishing, kayaking, or simply enjoying the scenic views. The sound of water nearby added to the overall tranquility of the park. Overall, Codorus State Park is a wonderful destination for anyone looking to enjoy nature, whether for a day visit or an extended camping trip. I highly recommend it!

I've been coming to the pool and marina area since I was a kid. It brings me nostalgia. I love how the pool and locker rooms are the exact same as they were 30+ years ago. Surprised how there's not many Hanover locals out here. This is Hanover's best attraction.

I visit the lake on a regular basis. It's one of my favorite places to relax. It's disheartening to see the water levels fall during this time of year, especially since the lake in motion is always a beautiful sight.

Only was there for a brief visit but enjoyed my time. Well maintained trails, nice lake, didnt bring my fishing stuff but looks promising. There was a stand of american chestnuts along the trail i hiked that was a pleasant surprise.

U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center

Army museum
Museums
Museum offering indoor & outdoor exhibits on US military history, plus a library/archive & events.
An amazing place to check out. Lots of displays inside. We went during a rain storm so we weren't able to check out all the vehicles outside. Helicopters tanks cannons artillary all sorts of stuff. Lots of interactive things inside. Best part its all free! Take the kids there they will have a lot of fun.

Did not spent too much time as I was on my way home but what I did managed to see was interesting many of the outside exhibits were closed but it was to be expected for winter time. I'd recommend visiting during spring or autumn. Do plan to visit another time.

The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center has many interesting outdoor events and exhibits. The museum gives an overview of the history of the Army. An interesting detail is that you can follow a soldier with the use of dog tags available at the information desk

Was really an excellent piece of heritage. Very well done and have lots too see both inside and out. Also, they are open free to the general public! If in the area they are definatly worth checking out!

Dickinson College, located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, covers 144 acres and has a rich history dating back to its charter on September 9, 1783. This makes it the first college established after the United States' formation. The institution offers a strong science curriculum and supportive professors who are dedicated to their students' success. The campus provides a peaceful environment with close proximity between facilities, eliminating the need for transportation.
Loved visiting this college & it’s community! Particularly enjoyed the historical details of the American Revolutionary War that the town has preserved! Also, there’s a really great ice-cream place nearby that I enjoyed! Not to mention the views of PA!

Took my granddaughter to an open house. My experience was very good. The campus was well kept. The open house itself was amazing and well put together. I left feeling better than comfortable about leaving my grandchild there to begin her college career. The downtown area of Carlisle has a definate colonial era vibe. I could almost envision a horse drawn carriage rolling g down the street. I would love to return on a visit of my own to explore some history.

Dickinson College is outstanding. One of their best attributes is their professors. They also have wonderful student services and student organizations.

The beautiful campus is built with limestone from the college's quarry. The library is spectacular as well.

My personal experience at Dickinson college. There were lots of boys there and when I woke up at my dorm every day there was a weird white substance on my blanket.. odd. anyways, I had a godddddd night though. The education and diversity there was spectacular, and I would love if I could go there again as a young adult.

I love the college grounds!! Great down town! Very professional admissions office with very adequate follow-up...! (very adequate means, being from a metropolitan area myself, I didn't expect anything beyond a few lame words of luke warm support from burnt out administrative zombies and was pleasantly surprised by their warmth and follow thru). Still waiting to see the results of the education, my student has only just begun. Seems promising!! --edit: Hi ! It was a long haul, with COVID in there during their education and a semester abroad (in Denmark!), with a workload that sounded rewardingly likely to bring a fruitful career in a field relating to psychology and also sounded enriching in the ancillary, my impressions after graduation are that this was a classy, intellectually and socially positive experience the most challenging of which seems to have been the growing pains all young people experience living within the confines of any old where, learning how to resolve social conflict, negatively charged romantic interests and all the other human type challenges. I'd recommend this school over many others I've heard about, balancing the cosmopolitan and the parochial or bucolic. It wasn't all peaches and cream but the only negative I seem to remember is the smell of whatever the hell it is that the farmers around Carlisle are spreading on their fields which is one of the most disgusting smells I've ever experienced but only seemed to encounter it outside of town and not on or around campus

My in-laws have a membership there and they’ve wanted to take us forever but never got the chance. Wow! We made it and it didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere was very cool. I love the little huts. Great service. The pizza was super good. All this makes the wine better. Let’s face it, I don’t expect great wines out of the east coast. I’m a red guy and was surprised how good they were. Not sure if they grew their own grapes or not but tons of flavor and well balanced.

The winery restaurant offered an impressive dining experience. The zucchini and corn pizza was a delightful surprise, exceeding all expectations. The combination of flavors was perfectly balanced, resulting in a truly enjoyable dish. The breathtaking view added to the overall ambiance of the restaurant. Moreover, the service provided by the staff was nothing short of fantastic. They were attentive, friendly, and ensured that every need was met. The entire experience was seamless, making for a memorable visit. Overall, it's a place I would recommend to others.

This was truly an enjoyable experience! The scenery was breathtaking, and the staff was wonderful. Everyone was friendly, and the service was fast. Our cabana was both private and beautiful. We had the pleasure of being served by Becky, whose service was exceptional. She is an absolute professional, and because of her, our visit to Old Westminster Winery was unforgettable. The food and wine were both delicious, and we will definitely be returning. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his birthday. We look forward to visiting again soon!

I celebrated my birthday at Old Westminster Winery, and it was nothing short of amazing. We were blessed with the most beautiful 80° October weather ....sunshine, vineyards, and the dreamiest backdrop for a celebration. Everything from the ambiance to the food and wine was perfection. The roasted glazed carrots, hot honey pizza, and charcuterie boards were favorites at our table, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special. The TRIO was my personal favorite wine, and the Honey was a hit with my sweet-wine lovers! Thank you, Old Westminster Winery, for creating such a beautiful experience — your team, your space, and your attention to detail made it unforgettable. I can’t wait to come back

The Gettysburg Museum of History is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts, boasting over 4,000 artifacts spanning various American wars and historical periods. From a Confederate flag used at the First Battle of Bull Run to former President Abraham Lincoln's wallet, the museum offers an eclectic collection that includes an Egyptian mummy head, Saddam Hussein's dining set, and Adolf Hitler's footstool.
A must visit! Its small but absolutely packed with items from all of American History. I found out about this place from the YouTube Channel "The History Underground". So when I finally visited Gettysburg for the 1st time, I actually went here before the battlefield!

An amazing personal collection! Have been to Gettysburg many times, but stopped at the Gettysburg Museum of History for the first time in OCT 2025. Definitely wish I had visited sooner. The building next door has signs that the museum will be expanding, which should alleviate any congestion in the museum. I would definitely come back for a return visit.

The Jennie Wade House in Gettysburg is a museum dedicated to the memory of Jennie Wade, a civilian casualty during the Civil War. The house offers exhibits on domestic wartime life and tells the poignant story of Jennie's untimely death. Preserved just as it looked in 1863, each room reflects the sudden shift from normal life during those three days.
Visited this past weekend with my gf and did the Ghost tour. Rachel was our guide and was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and I learned a lot from her. It was pretty cool to actually be there knowing what happened here. We will be back with our kids for sure.
Joe M — Google review
Gift shop was okay. Expensive as to be expected. I've taken the house tour twice. It's no big deal... don't expect ghosts! Just a small historic house. That's it.
Mike H — Google review
To hear and/or read about what happened to this young woman and her family and what they did during the battle is one thing, but to go and see the house, to learn about it fully, to see the bullet holes and everything else, you get a sense of wonder of it all. The tour was very well done and I do recommend it and while it is said of 'no ghost hunting', don't be surprised if something 'strange' happens.
Roisin D — Google review
Our tour guide was great. I have been on this tour multiple times. It was a first for my granddaughters and they really enjoyed it. I didn't take any pictures inside but visited her grave afterward

The museum houses authentic artifacts that evoke the emotions of the battlefields, providing a profound understanding of the past. Visitors can also explore well-marked trails leading to outdoor battle sites even after the center closes.
Really interesting and intriguing. Hard to believe the events that took place there! Beautiful scenery too! Well kept! SO MANY BUTTERFLIES WHEN I WENT, in July! That was awesome! The monuments you can go into are breathtaking! Really neat that you can actually walk up to them and some you can even venture I to! Clean areas. The knowledge was unfathomable if the events that took place there! Everything from that era was well preserved and taken care of respectfully! Very nice. I enjoyed the room with the dome and compass above, with the full room painting! That was amazing and how they blended the painting with actual items lying around was so realistic looking. It was baffling! How they were able to do such a good job making it look almost 3D! Even though the events that took place there happened, there was a sense of Peace, the butterflies prove that.

We stopped in 30 Sept 2025 after engaging a tour guide for a “3 hour tour”, He had so much to tell us, he took 4 hours! Very informative and yet, so much could be said about the battles fought here. The Museum film and Cyclorama painting exhibit cost $40 for two seniors to see. The Cyclorama visit is timed but you can take your time walking the Museum. We visited the gift shop also. Tons of historical books there, along with glassware, magnets, and tasteful knickknacks. Lots of seniors and few school trips at this time of year.

We bought tickets for the diorama, movie and museum. Great experience overall! The movie was education and well presented, lasted about 15 minutes. The diorama visit is about 15 minutes as well and is worthwhile. The museum is huge, you could spend all day there. The gift shop is great. We left with toy rifles for the boys to do their own reenactment of the battles. The cafe offers delicious options, my only recommendation is they should offer more table for seating. They only had about 4-5 tables and that was not enough.

Gettysburg is a phenomenal historical site with more to see than the majority of visitors can get to in a short time. Just my personal practical advice, if you only have one day to visit the battlefield and don't want to hire a licensed guide, then the NPS auto tour is more than adequate. It is well marked, makes 16 stops at all the major highlights, and the audio & video segments do a great job. If you are more of an enthusiast and have 2 (or more) days, I recommend Carol Reardon & Tom Vossler's A Field Guide to Gettysburg. It lays out and thoroughly explains 37 stops. Taking a kind of combo approach, drive the auto tour with the Field Guide in hand. You get the shorter 16 stops, but the Field Guide gives you more depth and information at each spot. Plan on 2 to 4 hours on the battlefield itself and bring along a picnic and plenty of water. There's a lot to think about on this sacred ground. It's hard to stand anywhere in this peaceful, beautiful landscape and imagine the tragic carnage that happened here. But it's almost a spiritual kind of experience to try.
Chris S — Google review
Parking at the visitor center was easy and that's were we recommend you start when visiting. The visitor center is very nice with some great displays, movies, bus your, driving tours, rest rooms and even have a cafe to grab a bite. We did a driving tour using the NPS app which was really very nice to explain and bring the battle and people to life as you look at the fields or hills Give this review a like👍❤️. FYI the budget cuts are not affecting this park. There were plenty of rangers and volunteers to make your visit enjoyable. In talking to the rangers they were all very happy since most of the cuts got rid a dead weight or managers that never talked to the public or helped your experience be better. Let the parks know you like having less overhead and more people making your visit better.

Gettysburg National Cemetery is a solemn resting place for 3,512 Union soldiers and was dedicated in 1863 with Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. The area offers a glimpse into the challenging conditions faced by soldiers during the Civil War, carrying heavy loads and enduring harsh elements. Visitors can explore the roughly 3-mile Gettysburg Trail, a paved walking trail that connects the Visitor Center to important battlefield locations, offering serene woodland surroundings and welcome shade on hot days.
Another National Park Service outstanding property. Rich in history and scenic beauty, this is a must visit when in the area. Nice paved parking lots on both sides of the property. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. I had full bars of Verizon 4G LTE Roaming.

Such an important part of our national history. Unfortunately, our recent visit coincided with the recent government shutdown, so a lot of NPS facilities were not open. But we were able to freely explore the cemetery on foot. We were glad we were able to pay our respects.

The cemetery is free to visit, and so are the 3 daily guided tours. The history is so moving and it’s easy to get choked up when hearing about everything. I highly recommend the 5:30pm tour followed by Taps at 7pm. (But only if you want to cry.)

I loved seeing the battle field's to sit and think of what happened here. To see our own fighting against our own for a better life for all. Both sides had their reasons. Both sides understood the cost. Now, we live in a world where no one understands the cost of freedom. Now, everyone looks the other way and forgets. I served in 2-2 Infantry for 10 years. A lot of the pictures are of 2-2 Infantry. Dedicated to my fallen brothers.

I was pretty scared to stay in this park for fear of encountering some snakes. Fortunately none in sight. I camped with my husband and two kids for 3 days and it was pretty quiet. The bathrooms are very close and very clean. Our plan before returning home was to climb the flat rock and fence which was worth it. A great hike that at a moderate pace takes 2:30 hours to climb. Highly recommended.

Hidden gem with flowing streams at every turn. Campground hosts Mike & Jo made us feel welcome. The bathrooms are clean and recently updated (it’s a bit of a hill from sites along the stream.) Sites are spacious and there is group camping available.

We came here on a family vacation and the campsite was nice but it was a hike and a half to the bathrooms up a giant hill 😬 The beach was nice but man the water was still cold! It rained while we were here and our poor potatos got left in the fire but my younger brother loved it!

Pretty decent camp site with some sites available with electric hookups. Pet friendly sites are also available. All this information is visible when booking the camp site online. All sites have fire pits and Modern restroom is available on site. However, the sites are not too big. Also the ones that have electric hookups have the ground firmed up with stone chips. So the main area of those sites are more suitable for RVs. Pitching tents can be a problem on those. You have to find a place on the side to pich the tent. Sites being small adds to the problem. Closest walmart is 30 mins away and sheetz 10-15 mins. So be sure to load up on supplies. Overall, nice place to get close to nature and have some grill pary going.

Pulled over and discovered the trail head is actually at Colonel Denning State Park. Very nice location. Ample parking. Clean. Nice bathrooms, with shower stalls. Well maintained all around. The trailhead was well marked. Blazes were easy to see/locate. The main way to get to flat rock is via a pretty strenuous hike, the majority of which is shaded (at least in mid Summer). Even if you somehow get up the available logging road (there are many trails to get to flat rock, but the main trailhead is near Colonel Denning's camping area), at the pinnacle, you still have to traverse a small boulder/stone field, with uneven terrain. The flat rock trailhead, a few yards in, starts off with some relatively new retaining wall steps. They're well built, but uneven... some steeper than others. If you have knee issues, this (and many portions of the trail) will likely be a problem. Further on the trail, there are two paths... "preferred route" and "challenging." "Preferred" meanders up the mountain side, moreso than "Challenging." There are still some minor boulders/steps on the "preferred" trail. Challenging, which I took at hike in, is more of a shortcut. At first the path doesn't seem hard. It starts out following a steep, but short, logging/access road (you feel misled, like, yeah this is steep, but it isn't challenging). And then you veer off the access road and go up some steep, but traversable boulder/stone steps. My out of shape self was huffing and puffing the whole way up. It isn't impossible by any stretch of the imagination, but those who are out of shape, and haven't hiked in a year, might struggle like I did. At no point was the trail not easily identifiable and not maintained. All trails converge on a flat area with a picnic table (and, eventually, a lean-to, with fire pit and picnic table). From there you hike further (~ another mile in all) to get to flat rock), crossing a well-made plank pathway and then up a steeper portion, to eventually hit the boulder bed. Keep going until you reach flat rock. The hike up is hard if out of shape, but is not nearly as hard (for out of shape people, at least) as the portion of the "Challenging" route was. I saw people with big dogs on the trail, but felt bad for the pooches. Some areas can't be good for their paws. Re: bringing kiddos... I saw one family with an ~13 year old, resting at the picnic table near the multi-trail convergence. The kiddo looked to be in decent shape but was struggling and didn't want to go further. But, what ~13 year old, short of using electronics, wants to do things willingly? That to say, you know your kiddos and what they can/can't handle. Some kids (and adults) will struggle with portions (some of which are unavoidable) of this trail. Was it worth it? Absolutely. The view of the valley was breathtaking (after I caught my breath that is)... I can't even imagine what the view would be like in the Fall when there's less foliage to obstruct the full valley view. There are no guard rails on flat rock. So, use good judgement when on flat rock. But it is definitely worth the day trip and something to add to your hike bucket list.

I arrived in Wednesday, maybe 8 campers. So far or is fabulous. They have firewood and ice. Extremely clean bathrooms, but it is a weekday. Thumbs up on this place

They are about to spread fresh sand on the beach. The rain held off for our Scouts to hike for TrailJam. This place is well kept, the trails are well marked. We love renting the pavilion for parties. Love this place. 💜

Eisenhower National Historic Site

Mentioned on
1 list
Historical place museum
Sights & Landmarks
Eisenhower National Historic Site is the tranquil former home of President Eisenhower, offering tours, military exhibits, and kids programs. The majority of items in the house belonged to the Eisenhower family and remain as they were during their last days there. The introduction, house tour, and grounds are free with available parking on site. This historic spot provides insight into Post-World War II America and broader Gettysburg history.
I was about to give this place 4 or maybe bump it up to 4.5 (since Ike is my favorite president) but after touring the house and receiving the presentation from Park Ranger Dennis Flake this was definitely a 5! Grounds are well maintained, and much of the house was left as it was in the 1960s.

This was a beautiful place to visit and learn about our former President and his wife. I learned a lot about them. It is amazing to see the very simplistic life they lived. It is a must-see when you are planning your Gettysburg visit. The grounds are beautifully kept. It is peaceful and serene

What an absolutely beautiful place filled with so much history!! If you are in the Gettysburg area, this is a must visit! We have 6 kids and each really enjoyed this place. The younger kids had a blast doing the Junior Ranger program. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable!

Well worth allocating some time to stop off here and do the tour of the house. Loved how approx 98% of internals were original. It was really interesting but also not too time consuming. Chat before going inside was really informative and guide was very engaging.

If you enjoy the history of past Presidents, the Eisenhower home is worth a visit. Both my husband’s father as well as my own were WWII veterans so Eisenhower is a prominent and large figure in history. Last year we visited the Library and Museum which was remarkable. Since we were visiting Gettysburg, we couldn’t miss his home as well. What a time in history and leadership that we cannot seem to match today. It was very enjoyable taking an intimate look at his home and grounds of this farm.

Difficult to find the correct entrance but worth the visit. We drove ourselves there as there is no shuttle from the Gettysburg visitor centre at the moment. Very quiet here only a few other visitors so easy to look round the outside and grounds. No entry to the house currently.

Beautiful home of the Eisenhower family that show cases their original furnishings. The home serves as a venue for the NPS and Dwight D. Eisenhower Society events and hosts visitors who come to the Gettysburg Battlefield. During a recent WWII event, the farm was the perfect backdrop for this annual gathering of reenactment groupe and WWII veterans. Volunteers and NPS staff do a remarkable presentation giving visitors a glimpse into the President's life and why Gettysburg was the only place he and Mamie truly felt at home. A gorgeous private setting full of history and a national treasure generously gifted by the Eisenhowers. A must see opportunity for visitors to the area.

Loved this place it was very interesting to learn about Ike and Mamie. The show barn and house where we'll worth the visit. When I was looking for things to do in Gettysburg, I dont recall this being high on the list, and for me, it was at the top.

H. Ric Luhrs Performing Arts Center

Performing arts theater
Concerts & Shows
Theaters
Large auditorium for Broadway shows, comedy & music concerts, located at Shippensburg University.
It was my first time here. We saw Dark Star Orchestra this evening and the sound was FANTASTIC! We kinda moved about just to check the sound in different areas. It sounds great all over! There's a bit more "personal" space as the seats are not completely on top of one another. *I wanted to shout out Katie & Ruth who were running the coat check tonight!** They were so sweet and funny! They were very customer service oriented and I was impressed.

We love this PAC. The staff is always wonderful and friendly. Parking is free and it’s easy to get in and out of. We attended our 2nd movie in concert. Last summer we watched ET while a live orchestra played all the music. Last night we watched the original Star Wars will the orchestra did amazing again. Such a cool experience. Highly recommend!

We’ve been attending events at Luhrs Performance Center for over a year now, and every visit has been fantastic. The venue is clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed — not a bad seat in the house! The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the variety of performances is impressive, from concerts to comedy to family-friendly shows. Parking is easy, and the whole experience feels welcoming and professional. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality entertainment in the area!

He had a great time at the Night of Queen. The seats were comfortable and the sound and light show was excellent!

The facility is really nice. We went to the taste of Ireland show, which was really good. My only complaint would be about the ticket website, as the map doesn’t state that you need to zoom in to see the handicap seating. Didn’t find out about that until I complained on Facebook about it. But all in all great facility after we got there.

First time there. The parking was right next to the theater. Once inside, the building was very clean and well maintained and appears to be a great location to attend various events like concerts, plays, lectures, etc. We were there for an Eagles Tribute band concerts. The seats were easy to find and comfortable throughout the performance. I'll be returning in the future.

Caledonia State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
A 1,125-acre park nestled within South Mountain for hiking, fishing, hunting, picnicking & camping.
An amazing state park with play area for kids away from water stream. Moderately sized restrooms . Convenient location , easy accessible , parking is easy , large sets of picnic benches. Mind it there will be large crowds on summer weekends. We did camping here : Best spot to camp, though there are lot of spots with slopes, you will enjoy the area. Also one of the best restrooms you could see in camping.

Caledonia State Park is a true gem in Pennsylvania! This beautiful park offers something for everyone including stunning trails like the Appalachian Trail and Ramble Trail, perfect for hiking or a leisurely stroll through lush forests and alongside clear streams. The historic iron furnace adds a unique touch of history, and the picnic areas and playgrounds make it ideal for families. The well-maintained facilities and friendly staff elevate the experience. Whether you're camping, fishing, or just soaking in the natural beauty, Caledonia is a must-visit. Highly recommend for a peaceful outdoor getaway!

The park is beautiful and the area is clean. However, they really pack them in. Campsites are side by side in areas and our campsite # 149 should not be a site at all. We would have been very disappointed if not for the fact that we hike most of the day. Please retire #149. Nice trails but a bridge is missing off of Waterline Trail. Seems like an important bridge to access other things if you are staying at Hosack campground. We were stuck and couldn’t find another way so we waded through the water. Would be great if they rebuilt the bridge.

A great state park with beautiful picnic areas, a pay to use pool, and hiking trails (including the Appalachian Trail). The park is amazing when you catch the Mountain Laurel and the Rhododendrons in bloom. There is also a waterfall and small creeks.

The park is really nice. There are nice trails here too. Seems like a really popular park. Its definitely worth visiting and walking around. There and nice creek flowing the park. It is pet friendly.

It’s a really great campground. Sites are just far enough apart. Couple issues I had were the tent site being so much higher than the parking area. Had to climb up and down. Site was recommended to me by a park employee because I was trailering a motorcycle. Parking spot was longer to accommodate the vehicle. Still though I’d probably use the site again if I had to. The only other issue was the road noise. It’s just off RT30 and it’s a busy road. All night it seemed. Very loud. But what an absolutely beautiful area. Has a beautiful pool. The streams that flow through it are amazing. Well kept. Bath house was very nice. Very clean. Park employees were just great. Just wish it was a little quieter at night.

The photos that I posted are of site 82. This is probably better suited to campers with a 6 person or less tent. My 6 person tent fit into the park created tent pad that is almost completely level. This is one of the better tent sites. It's diagonal to the shower house and restroom. There is a site directly across that's kind of close but the sites on either side are enough distance away so that you're not right on top of each other. The tent pad is a higher elevation than the driveway and you can't park an RV up there. Really enjoyed this trip and the pool.

Nice park for camping. Little barrier between camp sites. We'll kept public shower stalls and toilets. Had electricity and water at site. Lots of hungry chipmunks. This site is about a mile from main campground and pool.
