Okemo Mountain Resort is a well-known ski destination located in Ludlow, Vermont. It offers ample skiing terrain and modern amenities, making it a popular choice for families. The resort is praised for its snow quality, groomed terrain, family programs, and friendly service. Additionally, the area surrounding the resort provides outdoor adventure opportunities for every season and features a vibrant downtown with an exciting restaurant scene. The mountain is beginner-friendly with progression terrain parks and multiple bunny hills.
We went to Okemo during Christmas break and really enjoyed skiing at the resort. The long runs are awesome. Plenty of trails for beginners and intermediate-level skiers. Good resort for little rippers to have lots of fun. My 5-year-old daughter had a blast. It can get very cold though; so make sure to take proper layers, face masks, very warm gloves and hand warmers.
Safa A — Google review
Nice view, lift ticket was over priced for one ride up and one rode down. Drinks at the top were ridiculously expensive a small Gatorade cost almost 8 dollars. Staff was nice but wont be back.
C P — Google review
I really enjoy the mountain and would be more 3.5 stars. The problem is anytime you need to talk to someone at the resort you can’t. Some call center answers and they never know what’s going on here. It has to be o out of 4 times calling and having no one know the answers to basic questions as such as are the lifts open for scenic tours.
Nick T — Google review
I’m an avid skier ski who likes to go fast and hard all day long whenever I get the opportunity. I don’t really go looking for a resort or any of the comfortable amenities. I’m really just looking for good slopes, and Okemo has them in spades. Even late spring skiing is fantastic. A nice perk is the 6-person high-speed chair lifts with wind bubbles.
Stephen S — Google review
The ski school staff are really amazing. Well organized, great teachers, and took care of our kids wonderfully. The equipment rental staff is also top notch! Excellent attitudes and very helpful. Bartenders were great, and definitely get the French onion soup!

We went on the Alpine Coaster and LOVED IT!! The outdoor activities were reasonably priced and super kid friendly. We totally recommend a day trip!
Rose H — Google review
The day I went was warm so the snow was slushy my ski got caught and I twisted my knee. I'm a shy person and I do not like attention but my brother told my we should get ski patrol for help. Ski patrol was pleasant but I don't think they had much experience. I had fallen at the bottom of a short but steep hill when two ski patrol guys showed up. One went to either get a sled or snowmobile and the other guys asked us if we could climb up to him. I could barely walk but I already felt stupid so my sister and I did our best to climb up the hill. My sister was carrying both our skis and I carried the poles. The guy finally asked us if we needed help carrying anything when we were almost at the top. He felt my leg and wondered if I had popped it out of joint. All I knew was that my knee hurt if I stretched or bent it, and I felt like my knee would buckle if I put weight on it. The guys wanted to see if I could ski on it and I did ok. He told me how to get to the lodge on a green circle but I would have to take a blue square to get there first. He said he would follow us down, but I guess he did not mean all the way because after the end of the blue square he skied off somewhere else. I'm not sure what happened to the guy with the snowmobile. I could only stop on one leg the whole way down, it wasn't easy, but since ski patrol seemed to think I was ok I thought I was over thinking it. It was a very long trail. The worst part was that we were staying over night with friends to ski the next day and I had to wait in the lodge the entire day. This was in March of 2025 and this is now May of the same year. I am into three weeks after surgery on my knee. I completely tore my ACL and it will be a six months to a year to recover. Right now I am in a full leg brace. I truly think the ski patrol should be more careful. This could have been much worse. I normally do not leave bad reviews, but I hope they read this review and are more cautious.
Corinne H — Google review
Our instructor, Bruce, is the best guy around. He gave my family the best experience we've ever had learning to ski. He's respectful and positive, and had great advice. As far as the cafeteria, the food selection is pretty good. Our son has food allergies, and we were able to get the burrito with slow-cooked beef without the tortilla. It was great! And the staff was very good, even though they were pretty busy.

The Vermont Country Store Weston

Mentioned on

General store
Shopping
The Vermont Country Store in Weston is a sprawling historic building filled with an array of products, from maple syrup and candy to gifts, souvenirs, toys, treats, jams, and clothing. The store's charming decor and displays add to its appeal. Visitors can also enjoy apple cider and hot cocoa inside the store or indulge in maple creemees just outside the entrance.
You have GOT to stop by this store. And, yes, you can enter through the front door (the old-fashioned way in). What doesn't this store have! Food, drink, clothes, candy, maple products, toys, hard to find items, etc. We spent hours in here taking it all in. The staff are pleasant and very helpful. We left with a multitude of various items, but you simply must leave with their common crackers (regular or cheddar cheese), equally delicious. We stopped by Mildred's Dairy Bar next door to order a creemee. Our first, and it was unbelievably spectacular! They also offer sandwiches, hot dogs, milkshakes, etc.

I was literally a kid in a candy store. From Jersey, the weekday drive was worth the trip. Snow covered mountains, rushing, cascading water. Old Vermont towns and picturesque farm country of the Green Mountains. We needed a reason to go the Vermont Country Store in Weston, something we saw in the catalog. A straight shot to Albany and across the Hudson into the mountains with a little help from Maps. Back and forth was a little over 400 miles. The store is in an old cow barn. People were friendly and personable, but like all stores these days there's more in the catalog than there is in the store. Stores are now showcases. Things we saw were pricey, but of good quality like clothing, kitchenware, decorations, toys and candy. There's lots to see as there are displays of vintage house wares, such as a glass case filled with quirky old toasters. Local towns have nice local eateries with great atmosphere and are mostly affordable. Go!
Rodney M — Google review
Stopped by to check out this store on our fall foliage road trip on route 100. It's indeed a fun place to walk around, the store is huge and have lots of varieties of items to look at. Definitely worth stopping by!
D ( — Google review
Couldn’t wait to visit. My Mom (she passed last October) always ordered from the catalog. I grew up with a lot of the items. This was a great visit. A trip down memory lane for both me and my husband. Everyone was helpful with our questions about products and finding a couple items for us. No problems with parking. They are a pet friendly place.

I had an amazing time, going back in time at The Vermont Country Store in Weston,VT. It was such a beautiful Fall day, perfect for reminiscing on past joys of long ago while making amazing new memories! A great day trip of you find yourself in the Green Mountains of South Vermont!

Awesome! Everything you’re looking for if you want to gift shop and feel like you’re in Vermont. So charming, and feels like you’re taking a walk back in time. They have so many great things, we went twice! Loved Mildred’s snack bar as well. Old and young had a great time! Must see if you visit Vermont.
Catrina B — Google review
So much fun to browse this store in person! The store is huge with a vast array of goods including a discount area upstairs. They also have clean bathrooms, some great fresh food and ice cream, friendly staff and perfect fall photo opps. Don’t miss a visit if you’re in Vermont!

American Precision Museum

Museum
Historical place museum
Specialty Museums
The American Precision Museum, located in a former armory and factory by the river, is home to the largest collection of historically significant machine tools in the United States. It offers a fascinating journey through the history of precision manufacturing, showcasing early machining tools and real belt-powered exhibits. The museum's displays chronicle the evolution of manufacturing from interchangeable parts to modern additive manufacturing and computer-numerical control.
This museum is a real gem, a must see. It seems uninteresting, tiny, small - but you get so many informations on how the manufacturing evolved. The staff is super nice and tells you interesting infos. I was pleasantly surprised and highly recommend this museum!!
Jetlover X — Google review
For 251 Club members, this is an excellent stop in Windsor. Who knew there was a "precision valley" right here in VT? The grounds are very attractive and inside, the exhibits are very well kept and the volunteers are extremely helpful and friendly. You can tell they are proud of the place. An excellent learning opportunity for young and old. I also got a kick out of the different "this machine is retired" signs.
Ken C — Google review
Really nice museum with amazing machines. Looking forward to some more videos so one can see more old machines in action. All engineers have to stop by.
René S — Google review
I went there on a Weekday. This is a great place to see how scrapping machines evolved in USA making guns/rifles first. There is no RV parking but you can park your RV near Boston Dreams cafe for 2 hrs and enjoy great coffee and bagels.
Sachin J — Google review
Not a big place, but well worth a visit if you're in the area. Beautiful machines and an inspiring story. Very reasonable admission, audio tour included.
Robert Q — Google review
Pictures don’t do justice ! You must visit the museum for the true vision and understanding ! What a fantastic setup! If you enjoy history of machines this is a great adventure and well worth the visit !
Scott M — Google review
Very neat museum. I am not one that gets excited about machinery, but it was definitely interesting! To see the ingenuity of those that came before us as well as their tools and equipment was eye opening. My husband, a mechanic, especially enjoyed it as well as out 8 & 10 year old boys.
Stefani B — Google review
Very cool, small, museum. Each machine is well maintained for display and the personal audio tour they use to guide visitors around is very nice. If you visit at the right times you can chat with volunteer machinists that run working examples of machines in the museum to make trinkets for the gift shop. Parking is a bit tricky if you drive a larger vehicle. Budget about 1hr 30min for a walk through if you dont plan on talking to employees.

Historic Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge

Mentioned on
2 lists
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
The Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge, built in 1866, is a historic wooden bridge that spans the Connecticut River, connecting Vermont and New Hampshire. It holds the distinction of being the longest wooden covered bridge in the United States at 460 feet. This iconic marvel features a lattice truss design and a deep red color, making it a picturesque spot for photography, especially during the fall foliage season.
On my way to Saint Gaudens National Historic Park I stopped by the Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge. It was one of the coolest covered bridges I've been to. And the view is absolutely stunning.
George F — Google review
Beautiful, well kept historic site at the NH-VT State line. There is an area to park to the left, facing the bridge on the NH side. Easily could park 3-5 average cars there. We parked, got out and looked at the bridge, and took pictures at the NH welcome sign.
Janelle C — Google review
We love traveling to Vermont because the state's peaceful vibe and natural beauty are truly unique. We discovered that Vermont has over 100 covered bridges, which are significant to the state's cultural and historical heritage. Among them is the Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge, which spans 449 feet (137 meters), making it the longest wooden covered bridge in the United States and the longest two-span covered bridge in the world. This historic bridge connects Cornish, New Hampshire, and Windsor, Vermont, across the Connecticut River. Built in 1866, the Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge has become one of New England's cherished landmarks in both New Hampshire and Vermont. The Bridge is still in use today. It is also a popular tourist attraction, drawing visitors interested in its history and beautiful setting.
Weeranat W — Google review
Beautiful, historic bridge with a pullover on the NH side with plaques that give helpful, interesting details about the bridge.
M. G — Google review
Beautiful classic red covered bridge spanning a gentle river. Side access was easy for nice views.
Ken H — Google review
So much fun to drive through the tunnel and be in a different State on the other side. History markers are informative
Sheila W — Google review
A beautiful piece of history, the historic Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge is one to behold. It’s a definite must see and a need to travel through (you won’t regret it)!
Tania M — Google review
Great bridge but not walkable. Locals use the bridge as every day traffic and go fast so I wouldn’t recommend a walk on it. It’s beautiful in the fall to read the plaques and eat breakfast by. No seating or much parking on the NH side

Stratton Mountain

Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
Ski & Snowboard Areas
Mountain with a prominent ski resort, plus hiking trails & a fire-lookout tower open to the public.
Moderate climb with a fantastic view from the fire tower. The mountain looked much more difficult on the elevation charts, but due to the fantastically well built trail it was a fairly easy climb considering its size and steepness.
A H — Google review
We visited the ski village and took a gondola ride to view the fall colors from 3,500’. The vistas were beautiful and worth the trip. The staff at the gondola were not helpful, bordering on useless. We generally know how ski lifts/gondolas load and unload but there was no direction or guidance given at all. Our tickets were scanned and then the staff person just walked away without speaking a word to us.
Christeal — Google review
Typically thought of only in the winter, Stratton is also a fun place to visit in the summer months. Take the gondola for a ride to the top and hike to the fire tower for a great view. Also, check out the summer concert series which is also a fun time. We went to see a band and the fireworks on July 4th which was a great experience.
John W — Google review
We went to Stratton Mountain and arrived a day after our tickets’ date because I was sick, but they still let us in, which was really kind of them. Driving at night there was pretty challenging, though.
Elzeria E — Google review
Stratton... Thank You for "Keeping the lights on til the bitter end" by having the Lettuce show on Monday of Labor Day Weekend. Love, love, love the fact that "you" never shy away from having events right up to "the last hour of the last night". Just like Minus Zero! And man do I miss that event.
Franconia N — Google review
We enjoyed Stratton. They do have a couple of free bunny runs with carpet lifts for the very beginners, which is a nice add if your kids are just getting on, considering that all day lift pass was around 170$ a day over the holidays with no options for hourly or half-day passes. It was also incredibly crowded. Unfortunately, we were not very impressed with the lack of safety enforcement - there are few dedicated "slow ski" zones, however, nothing prevents more experienced riders from speeding down these zones, causing serious discomfort to the beginners. They do have a youth school and offer group and private lessons, which is a nice option for the parents to be able to fit in a couple of runs in. Although, we did witness multiple very upset kids on the kiddies slopes calling for their parents with instructors struggling to re-focus their attention. Stratton staff was very responsive and helpful, and we thought they actually managed to keep the snow on the runs reasonably well on the positive temperatures/rainy days. Overall, Stratton is a good option for a non-holidays snowy weekend.
Elena A — Google review
In an area that doesn't have much to do in the office season this is THE place to be. It opens early! Definitely visit the welcome center, collect the map and chat with the staff about things to do and what you are interested in. Ski lift to top of the mountain provided great views, cash only hot beverage & concession with a beautiful view to warm up. Was able to take a hike down to the fire tower. All staff was friendly, warm and happy to see us. They have souvenir shops.
Tiffany G — Google review
Great family ski trip in the Northeast! We’ve been twice. Once we rented a condo across the street from the ski village and the other time we rented a ski in/ski out house. Both were great experiences. The mountain is fun to ski. My family has different levels of skiers, and we all enjoyed it. The ski village is great because my wife, who doesn’t ski, enjoys the amenities offered there. There’s something for everyone here.

Great place to camp. We loved it. Staff is amazing and they keep the bathrooms clean throughout the day. Lots to do. Has a small playground for kids and good biking trails. Has a good place to fish and swim. Definitely will come back.

Absolutely love this park! It is so serene, So peaceful, quiet and beautiful. We always walk the easy trail alongside the river. I wish I lived closer, so I could come weekly.

Fantastic Park. Well space and secluded RV sites, everything is wooded. Wonderful little bike/walking path along the river. Quiet with no road noise. Only downside is like a cell connectivity, but a quick bike ride into town and you were connected. We ended up sitting at the bench in front of the church to catch up on news and emails once a day.

Nice half way point for us. Kids can check out all of the fun toys. Adults can do some shopping too. Some old time candies, delicious cookies, meats and cheeses, as well as a snack shack serving food and ice cream.

Super cool store, that’s located just off the highway where you can stretch your legs. Outside is well kept up, and when you go inside it’s like going back in time. Something to check out all around the store. From the fudge, to the old school candies and games. Lotion, food, the Christmas section had some cool ornaments, you name it. There is something for everyone. It’s just a fun place.

Wonderful atmosphere and so many different types of products to browse and experience. Excellent selections from classic favorites to enticing and new! Perfect for any occasion shopping!

Adorable store with tons of gifts and tasty food products. Maple syrup galore! Dog friendly in all areas but the food section. Very friendly staff!
C T — Google review
The place was nice. About the country store finally go there, it's where you can get maple syrup, fashion, or original needs from right around that state. Because the catalog brought me here from the mail in latest. It's the best place once you can travel a long way here.
TPM — Google review
A definite must see here in southern Vermont. Several thousand square feet of curated, Vermont specialties like cheddar and maple syrup, plus other food items, clothing, a kids section,a Christmas shop, a candy shop, etc. There’s also a window where you can order food and ice cream. Don’t forget to get a photo in the kissing bridge an antique covered bridge on site.

Probably one of my favorite stores in VT. They’ve got everything in there, from soaps and perfumes to puzzles or clothing. Lots of food also, to bring home or to eat there. Maple syrup milkshake is definitely a must have🍁

Great selection of goods. Novelty items Vermont specific products. I've stopped in three times. While some products do seem high, I googled one item thinking I might buy it later and found it to be the exact same price direct from the manufacturer so .. The staff was quite helpful and pointed me in the right direction answering all of my questions. Have always made off with plenty of snacks for the ride home and gifts to hand out once iI get there.

New London Barn Playhouse

Performing arts theater
Concerts & Shows
Theaters
Continuously operating nonprofit summer stock theater showcasing emerging artists.
A fun place with some great talent. We saw SPLIT there, which was a visiting troupe from off-broadway for their fifth SPLIT show ever. It was very good. I'm a tall guy and as usual in theater venues, it's not at all comfortable for me, which is why we don't do many theater-type activities... But, if you're normal-sized you'll fit right in and do go and enjoy their many selections during the summer season.

A magical night at the New London Barn Playhouse! I had the privilege of attending the Sister Act performance on opening night. Wow, what a fantastic show!! The cast & crew are all incredibly talented… Broadway caliber! It was wonderful to have drinks and food to buy during intermission. The greeters and staff were helpful, kind and welcoming. I can’t wait for the next show! Thank you to all that made this incredible night possible.

We had a fantastic time seeing Mary Poppins. The actors were absolutely amazing and I feel so fortunate seeing them in such an intimate setting. Looked like any seat was a good view. We sat in the balcony. Parking in the back. Adorable set up outside to sit and have wine or beer. $10 for wine. You are given a hard cup w a cover and can bring back anytime for refill costing $8. Can bring back for other shows as well. We can’t wait to return!

Amazing performance of Hairspray by a first rate cast of actors and actresses. Can't say enough about the quality of the performances. I just really wish the seats were more comfortable and the temperature was not so warm.

I really wanted to go for a 5 start review. The barn house was quaint and the balcony provided amazing views. The show was great, the ushers were pleasant and helpful. We will definitely be back for more shows. The only negatives were; not accepting cards for anything other than alcohol at concession, and it was hot in the balcony.

We go there on a regular basis. It's dog friendly and our dogs really enjoy the hike. At the top of the mountain you can get food and drinks. Highly recommend. It's a easy hike.

The $5 entrance fee is so much worth it. It's free after 5pm. Open 24/7 to the public. Bathrooms are closed at 5pm so plan accordingly. It seems like the trash policy is, carry-in carry-out. Very clean beach although small in size, people tend to be kind and share the space. Few grills are available to anyone. But I'll recommend bringing your own just in case. I had to learn the hard way. Overall great beach to relax and enjoy the beautiful mountain views and sunset.

What a gorgeous place! Very polite and helpful staff. The lift ride was about 12-15 minutes each way and it was gorgeous. We were very lucky weather wise and got beautiful pictures. I would love to come back and explore more, maybe do the hike down, however tough to do with the 3 year old

I went yesterday. My favorite NH state park. Shallow water. Floats allowed. I love floating on a hot day. They have a nice little store for food. You can also buy or rent a float. Kayak rentals and boards rentals available. Grass area with shade trees. Grills, picnic tables are also available. Beautiful new playground. Clean bathrooms and separate changing rooms. The water has a nice, non-mucky bottom and is very clear.

Visitors will find that the beach is typically well-maintained, and public restrooms are available in the bathhouse, where guests can shower and change during the swimming season. The small store offers snacks, drinks, and floatation devices for purchase. While I have not personally rented a kayak or canoe, these options are readily accessible. There is a service fee for park entry during peak hours, but entry is free after 6 o’clock. Additionally, parking is complimentary once the entrance fee is paid during peak hours and after hours. The park features two separate parking lots, along with a modest playground suited for children up to age 12. There are also numerous picnic tables and BBQ grills available for use. It is possible to make reservations for specific areas of the park, making it an excellent location for gatherings such as family reunions. Overall, the park provides a delightful option for a summer outing in the local area.

Sunapee is such a beautiful place - the lake is small, but pretty clean and not too deep. There are some grassy spots in addition to the beach, and a few picnic tables if you get there early enough to grab one. There's also a great little shop with snacks/drinks, ice cream treats, and inflatable tubes you can buy and have blown up!

First time at Sunapee Mountain! I usually ski in Northern New Hampshire and Maine at the BIG ski resorts. This place did not disappoint. I had so much fun skiing here. Beautiful trails and perfect snow conditions. Fast lifts and very organized staff to get skiers up the mountain in an orderly fashion. My favorite trail was Ridge. Beautiful scenery here and it overlooks Lake Sunappe too. Good food and drinks here. Loved the Irish coffee! Im coming back here again soon!!

One of our favorite lakes. The water is clean. The bathrooms are handy. The view is gorgeous.

Hidden Springs Maple offers a unique experience for visitors to learn about different grades of maple syrup and taste them. Visitors can also indulge in a maple creemee, a delightful treat they may not have known existed. The staff is helpful and provides directions to other local attractions, including a quintessential New England covered bridge. Additionally, the beautiful scenery and the opportunity for a walk in the nearby marsh add to the overall experience at Hidden Springs Maple.
Such a beautiful place and the lady working was so polite and friendly! The maple creeme is so delicious, couldn’t leave without trying! We bought a variety of items to try including the Maple Pepper with garlic seasoning. Excited to try all my goodies!

Great spot for maple creemees. The place is super nice and modern inside plenty of parking outside on a dirt lot. I would say it is handicap accessible. There is a nice clean bathroom inside and areas to sit inside and outside. Everything was super clean and the prices were reasonable there were two young women working behind the counter and they were super nice. They even gave us samples of the different maple syrup so we knew which one to buy. They also have drinks in a refrigerator and also sell souvenirs besides maple syrup products I paid with a tap to pay function or otherwise known as Apple Pay. It was a really delicious ice cream. If you’re in the area, come check it out you will not be disappointed.

We discovered this charming spot on our way home from Green Mountain Orchards, and it truly captured the essence of Vermont. Nestled amid the rolling hills of Putney, the setting is beautifully rustic with that unmistakable natural Vermont charm. Their maple creemees were outstanding — made with their own pure maple syrup. The maple–chocolate twist was exceptional; the chocolate was rich and deeply cocoa-forward, perfectly complementing the sweet, silky maple. Inside, the shop offered an array of thoughtfully curated, locally crafted gifts: honey and beeswax candles, wooden toys and cutting boards, and an impressive selection of their own maple syrup products. Every item reflected care and craftsmanship. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down and savor the simple joys of Vermont. We’re already looking forward to visiting again on our next trip through the area.

This was our first time having a maple creamy and it did not disappoint here at Hidden! So good and great price. We got two kiddies (good size) for six bucks. Beautiful scenery and you can go for a walk in the march around the corner.
Gemma S — Google review
We stop here every time we go blueberry or apple picking in the area to restock our maple syrup. Their maple creemee is one of the best, a must whenever its in season! There's a nice patio out front to enjoy your treats. The staff is always friendly and kind. If they're closed, you can still purchase syrup from a cabinet out front which is awesome. Make sure you go next time you're in Putney!
Sam N — Google review
We got a maple creamy from two locations while in Vermont. This was by far the better of the two. The prices are very reasonable, the customer service was amazing, and there were multiple additional products of interest that we bought. I would highly recommend going.
Walt S — Google review
The perfect place to have our first ever maple creemees. Hidden Springs has reasonable pricing, a wide selection of maple-themed products, and outdoor seating. Definitely recommend the diabolical donut bowl, featuring a warmed donut, maple creemee, and a drizzle of syrup.

Very friendly and accommodating staff, and a wonderful family owned business. I stopped in with my bus group on short notice, and they couldn't be any nicer to us. They served up creamie after creamie, and we are all greatfull for them serving us. Best creamie in VT I tasted, and the maple syrup was good too.

Pats Peak Ski Area

Ski resort
Nature & Parks
26 diverse trails, 3 terrain parks, night skiing, snow tubing & dining at a 1,460-foot summit.
I love this place! It’s beautiful and comfortable! The parking lot is convenient. There is a FREE beginners area, which is definitely suitable for beginners! Highly recommended for anyone new to skiing! My friend said other trails are not bad, though the routes are not very long but the surface is not icy, so it’s good for skiing. The staff who helped me register for the RFID card was so nice! I felt very welcomed 😇 There are two lodges, you can take rest here and buy some food if you want.

Brought my wife and father in law to Pats Peak for their first ski lesson and experience and couldn’t have been happier. They have a very reasonable starter package that’s complete with rentals, lessons, and a lift ticket for under $200. We missed our lesson time but Pats Peak was very accommodating and let us join the next lesson group with no trouble. I couldn’t believe how wonderful our lesson instructor, Shelly, was too! She took the time to teach the group beginning in the beginner area, moving to the next carpet area, and finally taking the group over to the valley to give instructions on how to get on a chair lift and have the confidence to go down an actual run multiple times. After the fantastic lesson, we ended up skiing the full day until our lift tickets expired! Thank you for turning two brand new skiers into life long enthusiasts. We will be back and looking into season tickets for next year!

visited for the first time coming home from the big mountains up north. I have to say I really like this ski area. it's got some cool terrain and some fun park features. overall just a great time here. solid grooming operations and good attention to detail.

This is a classic New England little ski resort with a little charm and a lot of very friendly and warm customer service people in every department. It’s a great family mountain. No apres’ ski scene but it makes no pretense of that. I enrolled my grandson I put my grandson in their bears camp for 2 days to learn snowboarding. The instructor was great.

We came all the way from the beach to Snowboard for 3 days and we loved Pat's Peak! Came Thurs night until close (9), Friday until close (10), and Sat last call 8-10. We loved the slopes. It's mid March so there were a lot of ice patches from everything melting, but that's due to the time of year we came. We rented gear since we were on a plane and the gear was really good. Worked well and clean. We love the wide slopes with plenty of room for everyone. Didn't feel crowded. The top of the mountain bonfire and bar was so fun! Only con I will say is that on this one lift, when it was late at night, the guy with the snow shovel would stand right in the way and every time I came off the lift I fell because he was in the way. Otherwise the staff were friendly. Food was expensive, but you can bring your own food. There are several fireplaces which was really nice. Elevator too.
Lisa O — Google review
Really convenient to get to from Boston. 1hr30 - 2hrs depending on traffic. Really nice people working the lifts. I dropped my mitten and skied back down to the lift, and they got my mitten with no problem. Definitely beginner & intermediate friendly here. Terrain park was fun. Just wish there were more small jumps

I hesitate to write how much I like Pats Peak in Henniker, NH because I’m afraid it’ll be overrun! But I think they limit their ticket sales, thankfully. The scoop is, they have the best snowmaking and conditions around! Even last season (23/24) when snow was scant, the slopes still had plenty of coverage here and they do a wonderful job keeping it loose and not so icy as other mountains. It’s small, yes, but there is decent, varied terrain. I love the back side boost too. People who work here are friendly and welcoming. If you’re a newbie, you can get right to the slopes without mega walking. The food in the lodge is decent too and the lodge itself is great. I’m looking forward to hopefully more snow this next season. I want to try their glades! Til then, I’m remembering our ski days there with great fondness!
Jan A — Google review
First time at pats peak with a group of friends. Group sales were very helpful and they gave us the prices and everything, plain and straightforward. Very easy to get a group trip here unlike some other places, that didn’t have prices easily accessible and clear. They are much more organized, but they are lacking in the perks one would get for going here compared to other places. This is a cheaper option and has more trails than other mountains for groups. The lounge area was packed, so definitely go early to get a small room or book a room in advance. Food was very expensive compared to other places, and the lifts were very slow moving. The mountain scenery was very pretty, but they definitely need to up their game. The place was huge, so you had to walk a while to be able to go to group sales, to get rental equipment etc. At least it’s not hard to find or miss. The staff were all very helpful and professional. Would definitely come again as a group! A lot of the trails were not open when we went, but it was still really fun to go.

My husband and I went to lunch on a Saturday to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. LaBelle came highly recommended by some friends who live in the area. Immediately we were impressed by the ambiance. Our server was attentive and friendly. My husband had the apple cider mule and I had a glass of the Dry Pear. Both were delicious & our food was amazing. We had the shaved steak on a ciabatta with salads and the winemakers breadbasket with the wine butter. The owner, Caesar, offered us a tour of the winery as we were finishing up. We took up him up on the offer and are so glad we did. The venue is beautiful & it is very obvious, from the way he speaks about each detail, just how much he & his wife have put into the place. Very pleased with our experience & we will definitely be back. Caesar & staff, thank you for a wonderful lunch.

Terrible customer service. I don't know why, but they spoke to me condescendingly and refused to refund money for a product that I didn't use and had all the appropriate tags that indicated that the product was new and unused... I don't know the reasons for this attitude, but in any case, I don't recommend this store.
Irina — Google review
I had the worst experience here. The girl working on Saturday, July 13th, was incredibly rude to my mother and me. I take my time with big purchases like bags because I know I'll use them often. I was deciding between a bag in the store and a Coach bag I saw recently. She asked if we needed help three times in 30 minutes, and each time I politely declined. The last time, she asked if we needed help with prices, and I politely declined again and smiled, but she gave a rude look afterward. I always try to assume the best, so I left with my mom and asked if it was just me or if she really was being rude. My mom noticed her tone and expression, and we were both very offended. I left quickly because she made me uncomfortable, but I knew I wanted to buy a small coin purse. I was nervous to return because I hate confrontation and felt so unwelcome. When we came back, she sarcastically said, "Welcome back." The man who rang us up was kind and non-judgmental. I don't know what her problem was. I don't know if she thought we were stealing or couldn't afford anything, but she was very rude. I mean it's the Marc Jacob OUTLETS! Why are we behaving like this? Immediately after I drove to a coach store and bought the other bag I had been looking for. Maybe I am sensitive, but she ruined my day and I hope she stops being such a mean girl (atleast when she's at work). BOO! 🍅 🍅 🍅

Wachusett Mountain Ski Area

Ski resort
Nature & Parks
Alpine ski resort with 27 diverse trails & 8 lifts, plus cafe & gastropub options at the base.
Wachusett Mountain is an amazing spot for skiing and snowboarding, especially if you’re looking for a well-maintained, convenient ski area close to Boston. The slopes are great for all levels, from beginners to experienced skiers, and the snowmaking is top-notch, ensuring solid conditions even when Mother Nature isn’t cooperating. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the lift lines move quickly, even on busy weekends. The lodge is clean and offers good food options, plus the rental process is smooth and hassle-free. Whether you’re here for a quick night session or a full day on the mountain, Wachusett never disappoints. Highly recommend for a fun, accessible ski experience!

my experience was good. I went there for skiing. A little busy and messy. I think they need more lockers . Generally speaking, the organization could be improved during the weekends. I would visit it again👍 transportation is very convenient. Easy to access by public transportation from Boston, and the restaurant is good. We ordered black diamond hamburgers and the chicken sandwich 👍👍 In general, service was good too.

Pics are a mix from last Friday's perfect full coverage, and yesterday's (this Friday) half coverage. Early conditions are surprisingly good - very little ice and some great man-made snow after 2 days of rain. Staff is friendly and go out of their way to help you. I got a season pass for the 1st time in my life, at 40+ yrs old, and I can already tell it's worth it!!! Demo shop at Mountainside Ski shop is excellent too... i just got a great deal on last year's Gnu model & it rides great & I never would have tried it, except Dominic made a great recommendation, and Andy & Becky made the whole experience fun. Truly IS mountains of skiing minutes away. Ok... maybe an hr away? And sooo much easier than 3-6 hrs away for the BIGGEST mountains in VT/NH/CA... if you like your fun outdoor activities to be welcoming and special every time....come here.

It’s was amazing, once in a lifetime experience for me. It was my first time skiing and I took the beginners lesson, it was worth it, our instructor Jim explained everything in detail and was very patient with a rookie like me. I fell many times but still got up and keep trying by the end of the lesson, I was decent in turning and moving in balance. There’s a lodge, food court and huge parking.

Great annual ski swap / Octoberfest. Wish there were more food trucks and beverage choices. Still, the choices were not bad at all. Good turnout. Why not? 70 degrees weather was just perfect. I am sure the upcoming ski season will be busy.

Love this mountain and the teams that bring fun for everyone- no matter what season! Had a blast at the apple fest and the colors were on display as well as so many vendors to bring it to life. The ride to the top was the afternoon highlight.
Eddie M — Google review
After many years away, I finally went to Wachusett Ski area on Monday to check out the conditions and their trails. I’ve only heard about the overcrowding and bare trails from high traffic in recent years, so skipped trying to ski it last season. I’m skiing with a beginner-level skier, so finding places with enough terrain for them to build skills and confidence is essential. This place really only has 2 beginner trails and they’re on the same face of the slope, so the variety of terrain and steepness are similar. Luckily Ralph’s Run and Look Mom were manageable, but challenging, for the beginner skier. I checked out Conifer and decided it had too many steep spots for the beginner. Other blues that looked like they might be easier were closed when we were there. Monday is a great day to ski for the first 2 sessions because we didn’t have to wait in any lines, had no issues finding space for our gear, and it was a short walk from the parking area (row 9) to the main lodge. However, around 3:45pm things get chaotic with all the school programs coming in. It’s a totally different scene at that hour compared to the previous 6 hours, so plan accordingly. Great to see all the kids out and crushing it, but the crowds are practically suffocating. Snow quality is okay - packed, granular, and thin base. There are some icy patches, but overall, it’s what’s to be expected with weather conditions and elevation. Snow quality was significantly better at Pat’s Peak (NH). They did some late afternoon grooming of Conifer and 10th Mountain, and I got to run them while they were fresh - made a huge difference and was so enjoyable! Only 4 stars because I find the daily ticket price to be very expensive ($94) the quality of the cafeteria food to be super basic, the lodge interior to be rundown, and the restrooms in need of better lighting and cleanliness. We’re looking for ski places within a day trip from where we live, so choices are very limited.

I visited Mt. Wachusett last year during the early season when snow conditions were off to a weak start, but I was blown away by how quickly things turned around for an amazing second run the following weekend. This year, the 2024 season has already started on an even stronger note. Opening weekend was incredible—better than last year by far! The team here clearly works hard to maintain excellent conditions, and it shows. The runs were smooth, the atmosphere was great, and it’s the perfect place to kick off another exciting season. I’m thrilled to see what the rest of the season brings and can’t wait to keep riding at Wachusett. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic local mountain experience! I changed this review from a 4 to 5 star, the waffles slapped! 🔥

Enjoy your wine upstairs, downstairs, on the covered veranda, or out on the lawn. Want a quiet spot? Walk on the grounds, sit in the gazebo or pavilion, or set up a lawn chair anywhere. Hardwick often presents live music and hosts seasonal events throughout the year. Finally, you can bring snacks to enjoy with your wine. Enjoy!

What a winery! The flavors and varietals were incredible! We visited here during a weekday and were serviced immediately. The woman working the counter was friendly and helpful and provided great hospitality. I sampled a pumpkin, raspberry and some apple varietals and couldn’t have been happier with my choices. The pumpkin varietal was incredible and I can’t wait to have it come fall time! We would definitely visit again, especially on the weekends!

Happened upon the great little winery while out on the bikes for a ride. Enjoyed a wonderful lunch along with a flight of wines to sample. Generous pours with the flights here allowing you to have a more than a sip to sample. We came home with a couple bottles and were very impressed by the staff. This will definitely be on our list for another stop when we have time to sit outside and listen to some music as well.

Nestled in the charming town of Dunstable, MA, The Butterfly Place is a delightful indoor garden that immerses visitors in a vibrant world filled with regional and tropical butterflies. As you stroll along the walking path, you'll encounter hundreds of these stunning creatures fluttering freely amidst lush vegetation in a warm greenhouse environment. This enchanting attraction also features birds and koi fish, making it an educational haven for nature lovers of all ages.
This was an awesome experience! The toddler wasn't too sure about butterflies landing on her, but she thought they were very pretty! Our 5 year old was THRILLED that two different butterflies, including a Blue Morpho, landed on him. This was an amazing experience for children and adults. It is VERY warm inside the butterfly enclosure so dress appropriately. You can also take breaks if you get too warm. There is a cute little picnic area out back and the gift shop was very reasonably priced.

My aunt and I visited a few days ago and had a great time! The atrium is completely full of hundreds of beautiful butterflies and greenery. The staff were personable, knowledgeable, and informative. We spent about an hour and a half soaking in the surroundings and about ten minutes peeking through the indoor exhibit. I’d love to go back sometime. Can’t forget to mention the little quails, too!

What a magical place. Brought our three kids ages 3, 4 and 6, they thoroughly enjoyed seeing the many beautiful butterflies. The butterfly area has brick paths winding through beautiful gardens. The educational area had smaller exhibits with unique species. There is a big covered area outside with picnic tables. Ended up spending a little over an hour with the butterflies. There is a staff member in the butterfly area to answer questions. Probably not as exciting for older kids unless they are interested in butterflies/flowers.

Took my family here on a weekday during spring break. Tons of butterflies and bugs to look at. The woman at the counter said to wear white to get the butterflies to land on you. There were a lot of kids there and the space can fill up quickly as it is small. I recommend getting there when they open.

The Butterfly Place in Westford, MA is a truly enchanting destination, offering a beautiful and immersive experience for all ages. As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by a lush, vibrant environment filled with a wide array of stunning butterflies fluttering freely among diverse plants and colorful flowers. The atmosphere is serene and magical, making it easy to spend a good amount of time simply observing these delicate creatures up close. The space is well-maintained, and the thoughtful design allows for excellent photo opportunities and a memorable walk-through. Beyond the main butterfly house, The Butterfly Place provides a wonderful educational component that enhances the visit. The attached educational area is packed with fascinating information about the life cycle of butterflies and various species, making it a great learning experience for both children and adults. The staff are exceptionally welcoming and knowledgeable, happy to answer questions and share interesting facts, which adds a personal touch to the visit. Their passion for the butterflies is evident and contributes significantly to the overall positive experience. Completing the perfect outing, The Butterfly Place also features a charming gift store with a variety of butterfly-themed items, and there is plenty of parking available, making the logistics of the trip stress-free. Whether you're a family looking for a fun and educational activity or a small group seeking a peaceful and beautiful escape, this place is well worth the trip. Edward A. LeLacheur Park is a charming 5,000-seat red-brick stadium located on the Merrimack River, serving as the home of Lowell's baseball teams. It hosts both collegiate and minor league baseball games, including those of the Lowell Spinners, affiliated with the Boston Red Sox, and the UMass Lowell River Hawks. The park offers a great opportunity to enjoy a game while taking in scenic views of the river.
It was the best time of my life to watch people having fun for the sake of having fun. The children were running around playing with each other. It wasn't just about family, it was also about unity.

Great place to watch a baseball game! Great seats no matter where you sit and food/drink prices are fair

We always have so much at the LeLacheur Park! It’s a cozy ballpark and easy to walk around. Our kids usually do their summer baseball camp and feel right at home. Tickets are super affordable (by baseball standard) and they make the games super family friendly! There is a kid zone to entertain the younger one if they get tired of sitting still. It’s one of our favorite summer outings!

Field was nice, even in the rain. However the stadium is crumbling. Hopefully they can fix it up for UMass Lowell.

Great place to watch baseball that is now threatened by MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred's horrific plan to eliminate 42 minor league teams. 2020 may be the last chance to see the Spinners. Contact your local Congress member to keep the Spinners & the other 41 teams alive! Not a bad seat in the place. The staff & fans are friendly, even to visiting fans, and even during a big playoff game. The bridge over the nearby canal on the 1B side (hence their mascot the Canalligator) provides scenery. Good video board in left. The pitch speed board helps scout the young pitchers. The only bad part is there is no way to watch in the rain and very little space to catch shade during a noon start (no cover on the concourse). Visit the nearby mill sites to gain an appreciation of the history that lead to the Spinners naming. They even have a free trolley around the area, which contains a National Historical Area. The trolley passes by high school attended by writer Jack Kerouac. Nearby you can visit the Paul Tsongas Arena (named for the late Senator). PS. The Park now tragically lies vacant due to MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred destruction of 42 MiLB teams.

On UMass. Parking was easy, but we came on a Monday night. Very nice stadium for short season. Duplicate concession stands on 1st and 3rd base sides. Ice cream also available. Got very nice seats for a good price. Usher was very friendly and painted out some interesting spots in stadium like list of Spinners who made it to the majors.

Fruitlands Museum is a historical museum located in a farmland setting dating back to around 1914. The museum houses an array of Native American artifacts, Shaker documents, paintings and more. The rolling views of the area are stunning with Wachusett mountain visible in the distance. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful greens that stretch for miles and miles surrounding the museum. Guests can dine and dance under a tent while enjoying bright warm light with unobstructed views of the surrounding scenery.
Went here for a wedding. Really beautiful area, massive fan. Location is great staff is awesome. Reception area was really nice too, well laid out. Food was fantastic, really really good. Especially for wedding food. Didn't go to the museum itself or anything, so I unfortunately can't offer any feedback there They had PLENTY of parking. Huge grass field with cones. Huge bonus. Overall this was a fantastic wedding venue. However! The US flag was not lit at night, constituting a section 6a violation of the US flag code. (mostly kidding, but light your flags at night everybody)

I had the opportunity to DJ the Bromfield Junior and Senior Prom at the Fruitlands Museum—what an incredible venue! It was my first time there, and I was absolutely floored by the scenic views and natural beauty all around. I was set up in the tent, which was spacious, well-maintained, and perfect for a celebration. The staff were friendly and helpful before, during, and after the event. I truly hope to return and be part of another event at this amazing spot!

My daughter and I really enjoyed our visit to Fruitlands Museum! We learned so much about the history of the area, from the Native American and Shaker communities to the fascinating story of the Alcott family and their transcendentalist experiment. The exhibits were engaging, educational, and thoughtfully presented. We’ll definitely be returning again. The museum was a special place to explore together.

Visited The Fruitlands on Saturday, October 11, 2025 for the 1 pm Raptor Demonstration. Henry Walters from NH Raptor Rehab showed us a Red- Tailed Hawk, a Gyrfalcon and a Harris Hawk. He was very knowledgeable and answered a lot of questions. He left other participants wear the heavy glove and the Harris Hawk flew onto it. It was fascinating! We also went to the Cafe and had awesome squash soap and a Little Leaf salad. Very enjoyable.

This is a very nice place to visit. The museums were pretty cool especially the native American exhibit. It would be nice to see more local native American stuff though. I liked the statue too but the scenery walking the trails were the best part and that's part is free. I highly recommend visiting here.

I wish it had a different name and minus the rainbow flag. This is Christian history. Despite some eventual disception believing the leader was Christ, Shaker history is full of Holy Spirit-led shaking and dance. This is a great example of how God does not take back gifts He gave despite no repentance. It was also disappointing there is no video to watch them shake and dance. Check them out on youtube and then I guess you have to go to a nearby church like Crossroads to see and experience manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

Highly recommend! They have everything so organized and it made for an enjoyable experience. I like the QR to order drinks and that they brought it to you. We also got a flat bread which was great! Parking lot was full, but they are thoughtful with seating so it didn’t feel like it. Grab a wine slushie, so good!

Beautiful piece of property and excellent wine! My husband and I did the tour with a tasting and it was awesome! Our guide (Derek or Darryl I believe) was very knowledgeable and engaging! We bought 3 bottles of wine when we left! We also ate lunch at the Knoll while we were there. The figgy piggy pizza was great but everything else was sub par and over priced. I guess you can’t expect much from a winery in terms of food, but still disappointing. Next time we will book a reservation at J’s restaurant on site. We did not Apple pick but it was available while we were there and lots of people were doing it! It’s a family friendly place(dogs too!) and a great outing ! Highly recommend reservations during peak season!
Cassandra P — Google review
My favorite place for apple picking after my children became teenagers. The property is lovely, and everything is laid out well. Price for the 1/2 bushel bag was very reasonable (no farm animals, no kid-centric entertainment, no hedge maze. The terrain doesn't have a lot of hills, so it's easy to get where you need to go. Apple picking is fun and can be completed at your own pace. The apple trees are clearly identifiable with signage, color coded ribbons, map with descriptions and key to what apple tree has what ribbon colors. I spent 90 minutes meandering around and got 6-7 different varieties of apples (there were attempting least 4-5 varieties that I skipped). There was even one variety that was marked in the orchard but not on the map; it was a happy surprise. The Orchard also offers antique varieties of apples. To find out about what varieties are being picked and when, you can sign up to be on the mailing list to get the updates/notification. The antique apples tend to be ones you do not see much in a supermarket or can be ones that are great for cider making. We go for the antiques varieties that are good for eating or baking. Our favorites this past season were Cox Orange Pippins, Snow, and Kandil Sinap. My family enjoys this orchard because it's easy to navigate, is less chaotic, and is very organized. My daughter and I have planned to have a mom and daughter outing one she is 21 years old to have some wine and food... and walk off the alcohol with some apple picking!

Last Sunday I was invited to go to lunch with my daughter. I was pleasantly surprised! The weather was beautiful as was the scenery. Food was delicious as well. We had a server by the name of Adam that was wonderful. He served our drinks in a timely manner. I was so pleased with food, service, drinks and atmosphere that I went back today and bought a gift certificate to give to my nephew and his girlfriend. I know they will enjoy it.

This was my first time visiting Nashoba Valley Winery, and overall my wife and I had a great experience. Upon first impression, I thought the grounds could use a bit more upkeep, but everything else made up for it. Parking was easy thanks to two very helpful attendants directing traffic. On the way to the Knoll area, we were greeted by friendly staff, which set a great tone for the day. A tip for first-time visitors: definitely make reservations for whatever you plan to do. The food was delicious—highly recommend the Figgy Piggy! I wasn’t a big fan of the Birria Tacos, but that’s just personal taste. The wines were fantastic, and you absolutely have to try the wine slushi. We did the tasting tour with Darrel as our guide—he was knowledgeable and made the experience enjoyable, though it started a bit late due to others arriving behind schedule (which was frustrating but out of the staff’s control). The winery is busiest in the Fall and is only closed four days a year. One thing I’d suggest is for their website to be a little more detailed about the different types of tastings available, especially for first-time visitors like me. All in all, it was a memorable trip, and I’ll definitely be going back!

They really brightened our day with their joyful personalities and just made our first time here even better. Will definitely be coming back again!!!

The Worcester Art Museum is a renowned institution housing an extensive and diverse collection of over 35,000 artworks spanning more than 5,000 years. From ancient to contemporary pieces, the museum showcases European masterworks alongside global cultural artifacts. Visitors can admire paintings by renowned artists such as Monet and Goya, explore the silver collection by Paul Revere, marvel at floor mosaics from Antioch, and immerse themselves in cutting-edge contemporary art.
World class museum featuring a Monet masterpiece from his time in London. Ancient Rome fan? Fascinated by gladiatorial games? Well you in for a real treat, with an actual real Gladiator helmet from Ancient Roman times. Also some actual Ancient Rome busts of emperors Marcus Aurelius, Caligula, and Nero dating back to 1st Century AD. Also a Greek helmet dating back from 450 BC. Ancient Egyptian art dating back to 1980 BC. When you walk you the showstopper of the place is a big beautiful floor mosaic dating back to 500AD. Terrific tapestries, Rodin and Houdon sculpture. John Singer Sargent pieces. Also pretty cool Medieval stained glass from 1200s, and knight chain mail. Awesome tapestries and Japanese art exhibit when I went.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Egyptian and Sumerian artifacts at this museum. Loved the art and of course the Egyptian and Sumerian stuff. I thought they inherited the medieval armor but I only saw 1. Kids enjoyed the scavenger hunt and my 2 youngest did enjoy the story telling. Nice little thing to do around Worcester.

I've been visiting the Worcester Art Museum (WAM) on an occasional basis for decades, despite not living in the vicinity. Particularly given the size of the surrounding community, It continues to display an impressively varied "encyclopedic" collection, although as the buildings that house it have developed over the years, parts of the collection, notably including American and contemporary art, are less than favorably displayed and the circuitous traffic pattern can be difficult to navigate--and yes, this was the case well before the current massive construction reportedly intended to integrate their receipt of the late lamented Higgins Armory Museum collection. The European painting galleries manage to present a chronological review of painting traditions from early Italian gold leaf panels to works from the early twentieth century. There are several works by better known artists, ranging from a fine panel by Piero di Cosimo to canvases by J.S. Sargent, and many important artistic traditions are well represented, even if not necessarily by their foremost practitioners, although some of the works are hung so high, with such indifferent lighting, that they can be difficult to see. There is a fine medieval French chapter house permanently reinstalled off the Renaissance courtyard whose own floor is particularly noteworthy for its fine Roman mosaic, a relic from an earlier time when the Museum engaged in archeological endeavors. WAM also offers multiple rooms devoted to arts of Asian cultures. There is a regular program of special exhibitions, which in recent years have ranged from an extensive loan display of Rembrandt etchings to an installation from their own storerooms of several fine European tapestries, although the later would have benefited from more detailed and thoughtful labels. The WAM also has a long history of art educational endeavors to which an entire building is dedicated. For a time some years ago they had a very pleasant restaurant with table service, sadly long gone. Free parking is located across the street, but although technically accessible, the museum can be a challenge for those with mobility issues.

The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts is an opulent Renaissance-style space that has a rich history dating back to 1904 when it was originally known as the Franklin Square Theatre. Over the years, it has undergone several ownership changes and renovations, including the addition of a stunning two-story lobby with marbleized columns, mirrored walls, and a grand staircase.
Had an epic experience at The Hanover Theatre & Conservatory to see “To Kill A Mockingbird”. The inside is so beautiful and elegant. Great view of the stage. Clean restrooms. Outside there were vibrant light installations.

Went here last night with my Mom 11/08/24. To see Ain't too proud to beg The Life and Times of The Temptations. The performance was rather good . The performers were a " little chucky." But still really talented and still a pretty good show. The biggest issue with THT is that there's so many volunteers ( who don't seem like they care and do nothing) and less engaged with the people. A lot of Elderly volunteers, and they didn't know much and barely interacted with people into auditorium. The THT , needs a like bit of ( TLC ) , still quite pretty and differently needs some explanation like there foyer and the lobby they need to do something or you get a drink / souvenir or nothing at all. I didn't even have time to use the men's bathrooms the line ls were so long, and so we're the lines for snacks / beverages . They didn't even take our money our at the stand. We were going to order a cookie, and they just passed by us. Overall still a great performance. The performers needed more attire , the where they were wearing alot of the same clothes . They needed more of a variety of clothing and such like props etc.

I attended a performance of Shen Yun and I had a good time in spite of the cramped seats in the balcony. My friend, Author Itis and his brother Bruce complained and let me know it! The staff were professional and security did not give people a hard time. There is a metal detector at the entrances. I would empty your pockets before entering and have your ticket 🎫 ready before the metal detector. The lines to get in were long but they did move smoothly. I would try to arrive early but I had issues with parking 🅿️ so I was seated as the performance started. I liked the inside with its lights, chandeliers and ornate ceiling. The sound was good and my view 🙈 from the balcony was enjoyable. The men's bathroom was in good condition. The Shen Yun performance and choreography is a mixture of ballet 🩰, folk, tumbling and gymnastics. Though the man ♂️ and woman ♀️ who narrated the show said that the styles of dance originated from Chinese folk dance. Bright 🌞 vibrant colors from the costumes and the digital screen catch 🪝 the eyes 👀! The orchestra is a combination of both Chinese and European instruments. There are social and political messages that might be controversial. I ordered my ticket 🎟️ online and the price of the service fee was expensive! Be aware before ordering. I paid $85 so it really drove up the price. Was Shen Yun worth the $300+ ticket? No. But I did enjoy the show and so did the audience. I hope the performers and musicians receive a good wage from their excellent 👌 performances! I did speak 🗣️ to Chris and I had a pleasant conversation about my purchase. I purchased through Shen Yun and Chris was concerned that I was overcharged by a secondary seller. That is good customer service! If there is a performance I really want to see, I would consider visiting this theater 🎭 again!

Great theater, outstanding staff, really overpriced beverages and extremely narrow small sits. Excellent acoustics and great view from anywhere in the orchestra sitting area. I came to Brad Williams comedy show and was positively surprised by 2 opening comedians as well as a meet and greet at the end where we could take pictures with all the comedians and get autographs, buy merchandise and that was simply amazing!

Don't let the outside construction ward you off from coming inside to see a show. The line moved seamlessly. Well staffed. Bathrooms were clearly marked and very clean. I sat in gold circle orchestra. The seats were comfortable and there was plenty of leg room. The sound system was great. Lighting was amazing. I liked that there were no stairs, it was sloped and carpeted. The drink prices were reasonable. Bottled water was 3.00. Easy in and out of the theater. I will attend again now that I know how amazing this page is.

North Bridge in Concord is a historic replica of the 1775 bridge where the first shots of the American Revolution were fired. It's located in a picturesque setting within Minute Man National Historical Park, surrounded by wooded areas and rolling pastures. The bridge holds significant historical importance as it was the site of a key battle during the American Revolution, marking the first American victory. Visitors can stroll through Colonial-period stone walls and explore plaques that add to its historical aura.
A must-visit for anyone interested in American history. The North Bridge is the site of the “shot heard ’round the world,” marking one of the first battles of the American Revolutionary War in 1775. The area is beautifully maintained with informative plaques and scenic walking paths. It’s a peaceful and quiet place to reflect, with a lovely walk along the Concord River and through the surrounding historic grounds. Perfect for a short, meaningful visit that blends nature and history.

Beautiful September Sunday to take a walk from the adjacent parking to the visitors center at the top of the hill. There are lots of nice trails leading off the main path along the way. The river was low but lots of folks with rooftop boats enjoying the water. There was a memorial service in session on the grounds of the visitor center that was well attended by about 300 people. It is an easy walk with plenty to read and learn along the way. The parking lot was very full but luckily found one of the last spots. I would get there earlier next time. Not nearly as busy on a weekday.

North Bridge in Concord is a quick and easy stop for anyone who appreciates American history. It's only 10 minutes from the main highway, doesn't cost anything to see, and its historical significance as where the Revolutionary War began speaks for itself. It's a quick and easy stop if you're just passing through, otherwise you can make a day of it with the area offering a myriad of other historical sites to visit in addition to North Bridge. All of this said, I highly recommend it as a stop for all lovers of history.

Honestly, my emotions surprised me. The crowd dispersed briefly and I ended up on the bridge alone. It was beautiful, quiet and simple yet profound. The farmer statue reminds you of what happened here. There’s even a small tribute to the British who died at the battle of Concord. I didn’t realize Hawthorne bought the adjacent land. Take time to travel Author’s Row along the drive up from Lexington. Definitely a location worth visiting!!

We came to visit over Spring break in April. The weather was damp and cool. We had a very nice time exploring the exhibits inside. Unfortunately, the outside activities were either closed due to weather or construction or were unpleasant due to the weather. We would love to come visit during the summer! Bring a picnic and snacks as the snack bar area is limited.

Great time with the kids, they have changed alot since our last visit. Spent about 3 hours here and did everything beside the theater showing and the walk along path outside as it was hot out. We saw most of the animals and they looked well fed and shaded in their habitats. The bubble exhibit is always fun.

My wife recently bought us tickets to attend an 'otter breakfast' at the Ecotarium. I replied, "I am NOT driving 2 1/2 hours to drink coffee and watch otters swim around. Well, I did, and it was awesome. Claudia's presentation was very informative, engaging, and interesting, and the breakfast was delicious, too! I particularly enjoyed my side conversations with Jericha. 😉 Side note; I was a little disappointed to learn that an "otter breakfast' is not where loud and inattentive children are fed TO the otters. The otters get fish treats and the children go back to wherever awful children live. Oh well. We still had a very nice time. VERY highly recommended.

So we drove over an hr to get to this place. You have to wait half way in the road because they have a booth one person when you drive in to do tickets. I had called the day before to see if I had to make reservations they said no... When I got there my kids could not go on the train because it was sold out... I explained how I was frustrated and literally called the day before to see if I had to make reservations... Half the animals like the cats were not out.. we did see the owl and eagle before you walk to the main entrance. The best part of this place was the bubbles... They only have a small food shack so make sure you bring your own food. They only have a bathroom on one floor. They do have stairs or an elevator to use... They have a playground... But I can go to a playground for free... I will not go here again. Maybe for people within 20 min away and kids around 10 yrs old this would be good for... But not for kids under 5 yrs old and not worth a drive if you live a ways.

We enjoyed the visit. Great place for children and adults. Plenty of interactive exhibits in the building and animal exhibits outside. The train ride was enjoyable riding through the property. The conductor was very friendly.

We did an "overnight journey" event with our scout pack. Always cool to experience a place like this outside of regular hours. The staff were super friendly, entertaining, and knowledgeable. The passage to the universe video in the planetarium was amazing. One of the best planetarium experiences I've had.

Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House

Sights & Landmarks
Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House is a historic mansion in Concord where the famous author wrote her novel "Little Women" and set the story. The home offers tours and special events, including educational seminars for all ages. Visitors can experience the 350-year-old halls that are filled with heirlooms and history. The Alcott family lived in Orchard House from 1858-1877, and it served as an inspirational setting for their literary works.
Felt surreal being in the spaces where Bronson Alcott raised his family and entertained literary figures like Thoreau, Emerson, Hawthorne, and I’m sure many more. It was wonderful to see Louisa May’s writing desk and hear stories of her and her sisters. I especially enjoyed hearing about the youngest sister, May, an accomplished artist and interesting figure in her own right. Many of her childhood drawings are on door frames and walls around the house, and her later art is framed all over. Tour was about an hour long with a lengthy video at the beginning. My 10:15 tour was split into two groups-with 10 or 12 of us in each. They were doing quite a bit of restoration and upkeep in the gardens and orchards. Beautiful property!

The house is beautiful, and I enjoyed the video at the beginning. Unfortunately, the tour was ruined by the guide—an elderly lady who talks endlessly for her own pleasure, providing far too much disorganized information, sometimes almost 15 minutes per room. She was also aggressive and unpleasant. No pictures are allowed, and you can’t look at anything on your own without her shouting at you. Overall, it was a very unpleasant and boring experience, which is in stark contrast to the charm of the book and the story of the writer.

This was a surprisingly great activity and we were happy we decided to go, we almost didn't. The tour was informative and the house was actually such an old classy place. We were so honored to walk through history!

A beautiful journey into American literary history! Louisa May Alcott’s Orchard House in Concord, Massachusetts is an absolute treasure for anyone who loves literature, history, or simply charming New England architecture. Nestled among peaceful trees and crisp autumn foliage, the house immediately feels like stepping back in time to the 19th century. The home is beautifully preserved and lovingly maintained—its weathered brown exterior and teal front door are both inviting and historically authentic. Seasonal touches like pumpkins and a welcoming wreath at the entrance added warmth and charm during my visit. Standing on the pathway leading up to the house, it was easy to imagine the Alcott family living, writing, and dreaming here more than 150 years ago. Inside, the guided tours are excellent—thoughtful, informative, and full of fascinating stories that bring Louisa May Alcott’s world to life. You learn not only about her writing of Little Women, which she completed right here in this house, but also about the extraordinary Alcott family—trailblazers in education, social reform, and the arts. Many original family belongings are still in the home, including Louisa’s writing desk and May Alcott’s charming hand-painted artworks on the walls. The grounds are peaceful and picturesque, and the surrounding Concord area adds to the experience with its rich literary history—Walden Pond and the homes of Emerson and Hawthorne are just minutes away.

We visited the home of Louisa May Alcott Orchard House, " Home of Little Women" Concord Massachusetts. Highly recommended for a memorable experience. An interesting historical informative tour guide with family artifacts. Orchard House retains its charm from the time the Alcott family lived there from 1858-1877. The guided tour focused on Louisa Alcott's life and family history.

Really interesting house to tour through with great guides (we had Alya), who show true love and passion for the author and the rich history of the house. I never realised just how much of American history was based around this one small town of Concord (which I highly recommend visiting and finding her grave as an extra) and the shop has several books on Emerson etc as a reference.

I’ve been to the Emily Dickinson house in Amherst, the LM Montgomery Green Gables house in PEI, but there is something so magical about this place that the others didn’t capture for me. Maybe it’s so many original artifacts in the house, or the wonderful stories, or the knowledge of our guide (Anne, I think), or the charming intro video - there are so many things to enjoy here. I will definitely be back and bringing friends here. 5 stars all around!

Sadly we can't take pictures inside the Alcott house but I am leaving some pictures of the outside and the School of Philosophy that's right next to it. Although the tour is a little crowded and the house itself is really small, the introduction movie they display at the School of Philosophy is quite informative and the vibes are irreplaceable. It's a dive to the past, worth every moment! I definitely recommend a trip to the Orchard House and the historic Concord!

Walden Pond State Reservation is a dog-free park with trails and swimming, located at the site where Henry David Thoreau wrote his book "Walden." The reservation offers a beautiful hike and a glimpse of the Revolutionary War's beginnings. Visitors can also explore nearby museums such as Concord Museum, Orchard House, Ralph Waldo Emerson's House, Thoreau Farm, and Wright Tavern.
I grew up in Concord and Walden was our town pond. I came to understand later in life that it is a special spot for people from all across the world. The clear water, ample beach space, and lovingly maintained trails truly make it one of the best ponds I have ever been to.

While visiting from out of state we made this one of our destination stops it was well worth the trip The visitor center was very informative as well as the staff knowledgeable I believe the trail around the lake is 1.7 miles a beautiful scenery to enjoy

Very enjoyable, peaceful, strolled around the pond. Interesting history, the visitors center was very helpful. Quite a number of people swimming and kayaking too.

I visited Walden Pond while I was in the Boston area. This place is unique, serene, and peaceful, perfect for hiking, swimming, or relaxing. We hiked around the lake in late June. We also visited Henry David Thoreau’s small house and the original site where this famous writer lived and wrote American classics in the 1800s, seeking to liberate his soul. His desires from the 1800s convey strong messages to people living in the 21st century. I need to find a place where I can liberate myself these days.

Beautiful, peaceful, somewhat spiritual walk around the pond. I would recommend getting there in the morning if that’s the desired experience. I’m guessing it gets a bit busier later. Two notes: RWE cabin is long gone and a stone marker shows where it once stood. Parking is $30/car for out of state drivers ($10/in state).

Great bit of paradise just minutes out of Boston. Downsides: Parking difficult on nice days Overcrowded beach area on nice days Plenty of mosquitoes on hot humid Summer days.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. And we didn’t even leave the car. Didn’t do any research before coming to Walden pond and upon pulling into the lot we quickly realized dogs aren’t allowed. No big deal! We pulled over and started looking up other places in the area that we could walk with our pups. No dogs or humans had left the vehicle mind you and two female park rangers started aggressively yelling at me “NO DOGS ALLOWED” and I stated yes we saw. We’re just looking for somewhere else to go and the continued to berate me that no dogs were allowed, which I explained again I am aware, that’s why we are all still in the car looking for another option. After screaming at me for another minute they finally walked away. Bikes are not allowed in Walden park either and if we apply the same logic that the dogs can’t be here even in the car, the car next to us had a bike on the rack and that shouldn’t have been allowed either. The rangers were way too aggressive for the situation and it was a terrible experience even though we didn’t actually experience anything. People in the parking lot came up after to make sure I was ok because they were being so loud. Will not be back ever.

Minute Man National Historical Park

Mentioned on

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Minute Man National Historical Park, located along Route 2A near Concord Center, is a significant site in American history. It encompasses the route taken by the Redcoats during the Revolutionary War and features historical landmarks such as Old North Bridge and The Wayside. Visitors can explore the area where the first battle of the war took place and learn about Paul Revere's ride through reenactments on Patriots Day.
May is the perfect time to visit this place, when you will see the best of the spring in New England; and also get educated with American history along the way. Starting from the visitor center, you will be able to watch a video about the whole story; then get a map which tells you everywhere you can go and every parking lot it has. Aiming for a good spring-time hike, I enjoyed the farmland and North Bridge the most, but there are more things to see, such as the Orchard House (which offers you a nice guided tour with $15).

Was disappointed to find the visitors center closed during the posted open hours. There were no rangers or anyone around. I'm sure that's due to governmental budget cuts and not the fault of park personnel. It's a beautiful park with incredibly preserved historical structures and plenty of informative signage. The trails are well-kept and there were lots of great birding opportunities and I saw turtles and frogs/froglets in the pond near the visitors center. I do plan on getting over here more since it's my local park.

Beautiful National Park with loads of American History. Walking paths galore, some shaded some without shade. Locals clearly enjoy the park for cycling and recreation. Two visitor centers, the main one has very limited hours, the North Bridge has more regular hours. Many rangers out throughout the park and available to answer questions and tell the history. Tours are also available for a fee. Park is also close to many other great historical spots in MA.

I learned so much more about American History! We only had one day to spend in the area. So we visited 3 sites: the North Bridge in Concord, the Minute Man National Historical Park in Lincoln, and the Lexington Battle Green in Lexington. We could have spent an entire week here visiting all of the Revolution sites as well as the literary sites from the Transcendentalist era, which I had no idea were so related! If you have time, rent a bike and follow the path of the British regulars as they were pushed back to Boston.
Karyn C — Google review
Very nice historical place, describing the beginnings of the American Revolution. I recommend the video at the visitor center and also walking the trail that connects the different building and places of interest. Concord is close by and worth visiting.

The Beginning of Independence! My daughter (13) and I visited the Minute Man National Historical Park on July 1, 2025. The Park Rangers were extremely knowledgeable and the park was in excellent condition. The Park marks the first "battle" of the Revolutionary War at Lexington & Concord. This is where things escalated to a point of no return between the British and the Colonists. Highly recommend visiting and taking in the very place that led to American Independence.

We loved this non traditional visitor center. you have to walk a ways but there ia a nice path, no stairs to the building. The mocie ia unique and aboit 45 minutes. We thought it was very good. Check the official website for times, they are different than the posted ones in the parking lot. They closed at noon because they dont have air conditioning.

An absolute MUST visit for EVERYONE who visits Massachusetts! This is where the Revolutionary War began! You are walking through History! You can just feel everything in the atmosphere! I could have spent all day here and still it wasn’t enough. Take your time, pay your respects to the events that happened here, go visit some of the museums. You will not be disappointed.

Breezy Picnic Grounds Waterslides

Water park
Nature & Parks
Recreational facility features grassy picnic spots & a reservoir with water slides & a beach.
We visited Breezy Picnic Grounds with high expectations considering the great google reviews. And they did not disappoint!! Firstly, the town of Douglas is a beautiful Massachusetts town and Breezy Picnic Grounds is nestled among a picturesque lake surrounded by the feel of a small town community. The grounds are kept clean and everything looks well kept. There are plenty of picnic tables and places to set up your family for an enjoyable stay. The waterslide lines can be a long wait but the lake should provide the kiddos with enough playtime and entertainment to off set the long lines. The staff is mostly young people (as you can imagine) but they were all attentive and polite. All in all, Breezy Picnic Grounds Waterslides in Douglas, Massachusetts is a wonderful place to visit and spend the day with the entire family. A worthy 5 star review 😁

I never leave reviews, but this was just such an amazing place, I feel I have to share. Clean, beautiful, safe and organized. Worth every penny. My kids spent 7 hours just playing without a care in the world.

Such a beautiful place. Super clean and well maintained. Nice picnic tables right along the waters edge on one side and the other is more open like a beach. Kids loved the water slides.
Kate K — Google review
There was plenty of space, plenty of pic nic tables, I liked that the pic nic area had grass. The lake is clean and the bottom is clear. The kids LOVED the water slides. Life guards were alert and located throughout the entire place. Concession stand was quick and priced reasonably.

Wonderful day! The whole area was kept nice and clean. The beach sandy, the large slide lines moved fast. Restrooms very clean. Kids had a fantastic time. Lifeguards were a little to strict with the small slide. My 4 year old is too tall ....by a smige and they wouldn't let him on, even when no one was in line. That is the ONLY complaint I have. Looking forward to next season!
Jo L — Google review
I brought 2 grandchildren ages 4&6 and they had a blast. I was very impressed how clean & well kept the grounds were and how well staffed they were. The water is clean and there is nice soft clean sand for the kiddos. Picnic tables are available if you get there early enough. We brought our own food in a cooler but still hit the snack bar for soft serve ice cream. Fun Place.
Susan G — Google review
Great clean water, nice slides that allow (slow slide #2) an adult carry a toddler. Not killing the bank menu food as theme parks :). The only complaint is it should open until 7pm in the summer instead of 5pm
Danny — Google review
This is a wonderful place to spend the day with your family. There are plenty of CLEAN picnic tables (in the shade) and spaced out well (the tables are so well kept, no way of getting a sliver). We loved how the picnic table was close to the water so we can easily watch the kiddos in the water while staying with our stuff. The lake water was so nice and perfect temp, even the sand was so soft, no hard rocks or anything nasty (lol). They provide many trash bins, which are very clean and they keep up with them. The bathrooms were very clean and the soap smelled so good!! I was very impressed!! They have the best lifeguards, they are so attentive and nice. Best of all they made sure to tell some kids not to chase or tease the ducks and the duckling. Also, the rule about no loud music/speakers only headphones is a plus! Nothing is more aggravating than trying to relax and have a good time and hear other people’s loud annoying music. I was hesitant to coming here because of how expensive it is. But after visiting and realizing how well kept this place is and how much fun we all had, it’s definitely worth it. Maybe consider some type of discount for families of 4+ or coupons for members or even some type of season pass? Sorry for the long review; love this place and would highly recommend to families looking for a family day. 🙂👍🏼

We loved this theater! We saw Something Rotten- it was great! The cast was great and the theater was beautiful. I don't think there's a bad seat in there! We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. Vibrant down town with lots of great restaurants.

UPDATE - winter 2021 We just attended the production of WHITE CHRISTMAS and it was fantastic. Great musicians and actors! We are so happy to have such a great theatre in this area! UPDATE- summer 2021 The Bradley is back in business and you need to be a part of it. We attended the John Denver tribute and it was the best. So much fun! A great old place, great people, great actors and overall wonderful entertainment! They have made the old Bradley theatre into a real gem of Putnam CT. Add dinner at one of the many restaurants and you have a great evening! Plenty of parking around town too, and interesting things to see as you walk along.

They always put on a great show. At a decent price. I’ve been going here since I was very young. My favorite plays from the past were Cinderella, Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof, And Then There were None. They’ve always got great variety to choose from over each season.
