Hillsborough River State Park

Nature & Parks
Hillsborough River State Park, one of Florida's oldest state parks, has been a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts since 1938. Visitors can enjoy various water activities such as fishing, kayaking, and swimming in the park's pool. The park also offers interactive history lessons about the indigenous people who fought against invaders for their land. Nature lovers can explore a seven-mile nature trail with diverse plant and flower species.
Unfortunately, some of the trails were "temporarily" closed, but I enjoyed my visit here nonetheless. Trails have plenty of canopy helping to protect from the brutal Florida sun. The suspension bridge was a beautiful sight to see. The next trip here will likely include kayak rental to explore the park from the river. It's definitely worth a visit. I recommend hiking shoes vice sneakers. Depending on the season, I suggest an early arrival to beat the heat.

This is a really nice park. I wish I wouldn't have waited so long to visit it. The campground was clean with nice facilities. Laundry, dish washing sink, clean showers, vending machine for laundry soaps, electric and water hook ups. The sites are close together but each one is spacious. There are lots of nice trails to hike and walk along the river. The only downsides really were that 2 of the main trails were still closed from the hurricanes. Seems like it's been long enough that they would have them reopened by now. The two trails on the south side of the park, which could be connected by walk into a neighboring park to form a nice 6 mile loop, were opened. However, the connecting park and the adjoining road to it is also closed. So you end up doing two out and back hikes instead and never actually make it to the river. You can walk along the river in the north part of the park, but this is more of an easy public walking trail and it's not very long. Also they have a little store and you can rent kayaks and canoes, but unfortunately, not on Tuesday or Wednesday, as they are closed these days. Which seemed odd but I guess they are cutting costs and those are likely their slowest days(which is exactly why it a better to go on these days, but I guess the trade off is you won't be able to rent a canoe or kayak). So just a few minor issues but overall a beautiful park. Hopefully the trails will open up soon.

Beautiful park. One bridge along with a restroom and half of the playground but still very enjoyable. Love walking hikes along the river!

I had an amazing time visiting Hillsborough River State Park. The entire experience was refreshing and full of natural beauty. The trails were well-maintained and perfect for hiking, with just the right mix of challenge and ease. Walking through the park felt like stepping into another world, surrounded by tall trees, winding river paths, and the peaceful sounds of nature. The people we met along the way were incredibly kind and friendly. Everyone, from fellow hikers to park staff, had smiles on their faces and were always willing to help or say a warm hello. It made the whole atmosphere feel safe and welcoming. I went with Sunny, and we both had a great time exploring the park together. We saw so many interesting animals, birds, and even a few turtles near the water. It’s a perfect place for nature lovers or anyone who just wants to disconnect and enjoy the outdoors. The signboards were clear and helpful, and everything was very well organized. From the parking to the restrooms to the picnic spots, it felt like the park was designed with care and thought for visitors. Even though I’m usually in Noida, this park in Florida gave me an experience I won’t forget. It’s a beautiful spot with so much to offer, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Whether you’re hiking, taking pictures, or just relaxing under the trees, Hillsborough River State Park is truly worth the visit.

I went for hiking on 09/14/25. As of then, both Baynard and Seminole trails are still not in use due to hurricane Milton from picture 2024. The bathrooms by the former pool are unusable, and taped off with caution tape. Both playgrounds have elements blocked with caution tape. I have grown up in this park: camping, hiking, birthday parties, etc. This is not the fault of the rangers, they are doing their best; but it's sad too see so much not in use nearly a year later. Hiking on the River Rapids trail was lovely though. This park is a piece of authentic old Florida and I hope it comes back fully.
Nic T — Google review
Was a beautiful and relaxing place to hike and get some fresh air. Our dogs enjoyed walking the trails with us and the river was beautiful even saw a little gator and of course many birds. A ranger was even kind enough to lead us to the right area and give us a mini tour and interesting history lesson on the land and indigenous tribes that called this area home. He even shared a tip for a hidden gem along the path that we were happy to find. Would def be back with probably a pack lunch to enjoy 😉

We really enjoyed the trails at Hillsboro River State Park. The river Rapids Trail was nice. The suspension bridge trail was very cool. It was nice to take our little dog with us. We also were Glamping this weekend at Hillsboro River State Park

BEAUTIFUL trails at this park!!!! There was so much to stop and admire, like the rapids, the suspension bridge, the wonky trees, etc. My only complaint is that the trails could’ve been marked more clearly. I appreciated the gator sighting!!!

Showcase of Citrus

Sights & Landmarks
Showcase of Citrus is a picturesque orchard that offers tourists the opportunity to pick citrus fruits, along with other activities. Guests can visit an old-fashioned country store and engage with various animals on-site. The tour includes a commentary from a humorous guide, while food trucks offer delicious meals at reasonable prices. However, some visitors may find the cost of admission steep and the ride uneventful for younger children.
The Showcase of Citrus is hands-down my favorite place in Clermont! I took my son for the Haunted Monster Truck Tour and we had an absolute blast. The tour guide was so fun and kept everyone laughing while saving our lives from monsters and zombies. I recommend buying tickets in advance to do the haunted monster truck tour but you can pop in to visit and play without any reservations or waiting. We also tried the food prepared by Leo—highly recommend the gator nachos and gator quesadilla, both were incredible! On top of that, they’ve got special Halloween and fall-themed adult beverages and sweet treats that really add to the festive vibe. There are so many picture opportunities everywhere you look, and every time I visit there’s something new to see. The decorations are top-notch, and the variety of animals is amazing. We loved the private capybara meet-and-greet and feeding experience—it was such a unique memory. I also heard they’ll be hosting lemur meet-and-greets soon, which I can’t wait to come back for! This place is the perfect mix of fun, food, and family time. I had the best day with my son, and it’s truly our favorite spot to stop, play, and make memories together. And to top it off—parking is free!

Visited Showcase of Citrus and was absolutely delighted. If you're looking for an affordable, engaging, and delicious way to spend an afternoon, this is it! The animals- pigs, goats, lemurs and cow- are clearly well cared for and happy to interact. The option to buy food to feed them adds an extra layer of fun, especially for kids (or adults who are kids at heart!). It's a really special experience to get up close and feed the friendly residents. The capybaras and their new babies was fun to see and even the option of helping name them! The food scene here is great, too. The selection of food trucks meant there was something for everyone, from Cuban, Jamaican and Venezuelan trucks, but the bar also offered amazing creamsicle slushies and exciting themed drinks! They're creative, refreshing, and definitely deserve a spot on your social media feed. The whole atmosphere felt lively and welcoming. The staff is so friendly and welcoming! Finally, for anyone who loves taking photos, this place is a dream. They've gone all out creating fantastic photo opportunities around the property. Whether it's a rustic backdrop, a cute sign, or a beautifully themed display, you're guaranteed to get some stellar shots to remember your day.

What an honor to experience the first-ever haunted monster truck ride! 🎃 Tickets were about $30, and we were driven by Ranger Jack and his assistant Sam. The tour was pretty good although there is definitely some room for improvement. The ride lasted around 15 minutes, which felt a little short for the price (I think 30 minutes would’ve been perfect for the price). I loved the theme of it too! I also appreciated that it wasn’t crowded in the monster truck. There was plenty of room to move and actually enjoy the ride without feeling packed in. I would say it is a one-time experience for Halloween. At the end of the ride, they mentioned a Christmas-themed ride coming up! 🎄I am looking forward to checking that out!

Such a wonderful place! The decoration is absolutely stunning for fall festival, was not crowded at all (went on an afternoon Friday). You can see the animals and walk around for free, but they also have paid options such as feed the animals, monster trucks rides, stores and a bar. For those who have children, there is an amazing playground outside with a lot of shade. Absolutely worth it!
Isabella Q — Google review
Today we visited Showcase of Citrus and had such a great time! As a homeschool family, we’re always on the lookout for affordable (or even free) places to explore, and this spot was such a gem. One thing I really loved is that there’s no cost to go in—you can enjoy the property without worrying about admission fees. They have a nice variety of animals, and the food to feed them is very reasonably priced. There’s also a play area for kids. While the toys are a little older, it still gave our kids a chance to run around and have fun. If you’re looking for a fun outing that doesn’t break the bank, this is definitely a place worth checking out!
Amy P — Google review
As someone who has lived in the Clermont area for most of her life, it’s truly insane to me that this stunning gem has been right under my nose my entire life! The Showcase of Citrus is one of the most educational, resourceful, entertaining, and inviting place I’ve ever been to! Whether it’s a date, solo trip, or family outing this lovely place is a must, and it’s free to enter! If you want to feed the animals, they have different buckets ranging from $6-$25, it’s very affordable and you get to connect with the wildlife. I will never be able to forget the exceptional service given to me by Madi and Leo, the peach cobbler drink (aka peach slushy and ice cream) that I was recommended by Madi is absolute heaven. As I’m writing this I’m craving another refreshing cup! The gator chili nachos recommended by Leo blew me out of the park. Usually when I have gator it’s tough and dry, however Leo’s gator is tender and explodes with flavor! I will definitely be back, especially for the U-Pick season in December, January, and February! No matter what season you end up coming, there will be something magical inside the Showcase of Citurs!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We had an absolute blast! Our first option was South Hills Farm, but they were fully booked for the day. I had promised my son a pumpkin patch adventure, so we found Showcase of Citrus and we’re so glad we did! We didn’t know what to expect, but my son loved it! The place is very organized, has beautiful photo spots for fall portraits, and plenty of fun activities for families. We all had a great time and will definitely be back! 🎃🍊
Lillian G — Google review
We love Showcase! We visit often and recently had our son’s 3rd birthday party here. The process to reserve a party package was so easy and a great 3HR get together with friends and family. Definitely choose the option with a private monster truck ride for your whole party, it was a hit with kids and adults! They even have a surprise for the birthday kid during the drive! Shout out to Aly for being so helpful day of even with how busy the place was. She was cool as a cucumber and just crushing it in the best way!

Lake Louisa State Park, located just a short drive from Kissimmee, is known for its stunning natural beauty and diverse wildlife. For a small fee, visitors can access the park and enjoy activities such as swimming in one of the area's few swimmable lakes, canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding on the park's three lakes - Louisa, Hammond, and Dixie.
Everything about this place is beautiful! I only spent about an hour because I just wanted to take my dog somewhere nice for a walk. We had the privilege of seeing some cute wildlife. The park was very clean. The ranger on duty at the entrance was very nice! I can't wait to go back again. It's only $5 per car & I think it said $2 for pedestrians or cyclists.
Franchesca J — Google review
What a beautiful state park with so much to do. We stayed 4 nights in sight 34 with full hookups, and we're extremely pleased. Site was clean, large enough for our 33' travel trailer plus F350, and the water pressure was just fine. We hiked some of the trails, walked down by the beach, and stopped in at the camp & rental store. ALL the staff was friendly and helpful. When we come back to visit family, this is definitely where we'll be staying.

Absolutely incredible park from the lakes to the trails to the campgrounds to the kayaks! My friends and I went glamping for the weekend, and I'm so glad we chose this park to do so. The tent - 200 sqft, air conditioned, and furnished - was perfect for the three of us. The grounds were well-maintained, the instructors and staff were knowledgeable, and the bathrooms were always clean and stocked. At the Camper Canteen, Ashe was so kind, fun, and helpful to us as inexperienced campers. She was always happy to explain the rules, show us hidden spots and places we might have missed, and give us tips to make the most of our time here. She made our getaway special! Overall, this is a park worth visiting whether you're a local or a visitor. With miles of hiking trails, spots for dogs and horses, a quiet beachfront, beautiful sights, and loads of activities, there truly is something for everyone at Lake Louisa. I can't wait to go back!
Megan B — Google review
My family and I love being outdoors on trails and on bikes and have never seemed to make it to this state park. Today was our first time and I really liked the park. The hiking trails are great. Some of the signs and markers are in desperate need of some TLC. New numbers and a light cleaning. If you are hiking, get a map and take a pen so you can mark where you turn. It is easy to get lost on the over 20 miles of trails. We drove my the horse area and I will be excited to return and try that experience soon. You can rent kayaks, bikes and more up near the campground area. So if you want to get out on the water, you can do so easily. The campground is extremely open. There are very few sites that have any shade. I’m not sure if I want to spend any time in the campground in a tent as the sites are extremely small and open. The primitive sights are gorgeous though. As long as you don’t mind not having a fire at night. The cabins are large and I am going to see about renting one of these very soon. Plenty of places to hike, fish and even go swimming in the lake. Just be careful of the alligators. This is all nature.

Incredible horseback riding. I call the ladies that are responsible for your well being, the T & T Connection. Tracy and Tina. They are amazing with their knowledge of the park, the plants, the trees, animals, the Indians that lived there and the medicinal purposes of the plants, trees and berries. VERY EDUCATIONAL along with being a fun ride. You can't bring a back pack... whatever you bring it has to be able to tie around your waist.

Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards is a sprawling 127-acre estate featuring an impressive 80-acre vineyard and a welcoming tasting room where visitors can sample a variety of wines and purchase their preferred selections. The winery offers complimentary tours and tastings every day, providing guests with the opportunity to learn about the winemaking process through audiovisual presentations and guided tours. Throughout the year, Lakeridge Winery hosts lively festivals and events, including the popular seasonal wine stomps.
Such a great time visiting the sister to San Sebastian Winery!!! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The winery is awesome to tour and get samples leading to the gift shop. The gift shop has so much to offer. You then head outside and they have a whole setup outside. They serve food and wine to chill with while listening to live music on their stage. There are picnic tables and they allow you to bring your own chairs to sit and chill with. All this while being able to check out the vineyard in the back. It's a pretty decent size vineyard to look at for sure. Well worth the visit!!!

Beautiful hilltop winery. We attended the outdoor concert/ food under the trees. There were plenty of large picnic tables under the pavilion and also out in the open. The trees covered all of the grounds where the concert was held, so no worries about sun exposure. Many people brought chairs and blankets to lay out. The food was alright, not such a variety. About 4 items to choose from that came with either salad, rice, or fries. At a price of $20 a plate, i didn't find it worth it. Next time, we'll eat somewhere else then go just for the music. The store was beautifully set with many different varieties of wine and cheese. They also have a few souvenirs. If you check the website, you could see the days and times of the winery tours, which I highly recommend

Review for Luisa – Lake Ridge Winery, Clermont FL Yesterday I made an unplanned stop at Lake Ridge Winery after my original Sunday plans fell through. I was driving back to Orlando feeling a little disappointed when I saw the winery sign and decided to make the best of the day. From the moment I walked in, everyone was kind and welcoming, but Luisa behind the bar truly made the experience unforgettable. Luisa went far beyond normal customer service. She greeted me with a warm smile, asked how I was doing, and even noticed that I was visiting alone. Instead of keeping things surface-level, she started a genuine conversation, offered recommendations, and even took time to show me around the winery between serving guests. Her kindness and attentiveness quickly made me feel comfortable and cared for, and before I knew it, I no longer felt alone. What began as a day of canceled plans turned into a beautiful memory because of Louisa’s loving personality and professional grace. She is the kind of employee who not only represents the winery well but also changes a guest’s entire mood with her presence. Management should know what an asset she is. I will absolutely return and recommend Lake Ridge Winery to friends and family because of the way Luisa made me feel. Highly recommend!!!!!

Celebrating my 31st birthday, we had lots of festivities set up but honestly, this one was my favorite and surprisingly the cheapest😂 $5 ticket, they start you in a room where they show you a little intro video telling you a bit about the winery. Then you have your tour guide that walks you throughout the winery giving fun facts and you can ask questions (I love learning). Then We were brought to a large bar too area with a list of the tastings we would be sampling and he would tell us about each one. I’m struggling to remember his name right now but you see him in the pictures and he was incredibly nice and knowledgeable. Would 10/10 recommend this experience to anyone and honestly can’t wait to do it again and bring my best friend.

We booked the private vip wine tasting experience and it was totally worth it! Thomas was a great host as well! This place is beautiful and the wine is tasty!! If I could suggest one thing. To make the tasting longer so we didn’t have to basically chug the wine. It would have been nice to sit and talk and enjoy the sips.

My wife and I jennifer, loved it! I came here about 30 years ago and love the southern red. Thank you Patrick for a great tour of the Winery and Vineyard!

This is a local gem. I have brought friends and family who come from all over the country to experience this place. Check out the free wine tour on the weekends before trying a glass. I absolutely love both of their sweetest wines, Southern White and Southern Red. Try the wine slushies outside during the hotter months. I recommend coming before 2 to have ample time before the outside stops serving at 4pm.

Venetian Gardens in Leesburg is a stunning 64-acre park nestled along the shores of Lake Harris. The park features a boat ramp, beaches, and beautifully landscaped islands connected by canals and wooden bridges. It's an ideal spot for picnics, sand volleyball, and leisurely walks with picturesque photo opportunities. However, some visitors have raised concerns about safety due to the presence of litter and questionable activities in the evening.
What gorgeous gardens, very well maintained, with an excellent view of the lake, has a playground, accessible bathrooms, a shelter to have a picnic. Home to a great variety of birds and a few gators. A true highlight of the visit to the area.

I'm local and go here almost everyday I love it it's well kept and peaceful... It has a great restaurant called ski Beach, plenty of parking, full of wildlife, great bass fishing, an awesome playground with a zip line for the kiddos, picnic tables and grills for birthdays, plenty of shaded benches which are perfect for dates I definitely recommend this place for multiple reasons and occasions.

Gorgeous walkways and bridges with a breathtaking view of Lake Harris. A wonderful place to relax or get some exercise in. We saw a small alligator swimming and lots of ducks. We didn't try the lakefront restaurant, Ski Beach, but we hope to next time.

We let the kids play and then we took a walk around the ponds that are right next to the lake. We went to just see what animals we could see and how big the baby's all got.

Citrus On the Lake Boutique Hotel / Citrus Sky Bar Tavares

Hotel
Nature & Parks
Casual hotel offering unassuming quarters, many with lake views, plus an outdoor pool & dining.
We just finished up convention at the hotel and everything was perfect! Great rooms.. we had a HUGE sweet.. for very reasonable prices… excellent service. Everyone went above and beyond. The rooftop bar was beautiful, great bartenders, drinks, food and an amazing view of the lake. Several restaurants within walking distance were all excellent. We will definitely be back!

We stayed here while in Tavares area for a Labor Day weekend with all our naughty friends. Our lake view room was large! Could have used full length mirror in the room. Pool was great. Rooftop bar was awesome. 10% off coffees and other places as they own some of the shops and restaurants at the bottom of their other two buildings. Great price. They are in the process of making some upgrades, so it’ll get even better. We’ll stay there again!
Randy J — Google review
The location and view were great, beautiful pool and lots of restaurants to choose from! They quickly addressed an issue with loud neighbors, much appreciated . I can’t speak for all the rooms, but we were in building 2 and our room smelled musty, was in dire need of updating, and wasn’t the cleanest I’ve ever stayed in. No cleaning service unless you asked the day before you wanted it. Very cheap little soaps and hair products, no coffee maker or phone. Elevator looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned in a month. Not really worth the price

So I recently stayed at this hotel for my wedding weekend this week. I booked the block more than a year in advance with notice that they would be done renovating by the Summer. My disappointment to hear all of our guests that stayed at this hotel had various complaints about the conditions of the room (mold, sealed holes in the wall, smell from the AC), We even had 2 family members request their money back to stay at another hotel because of the accommodations. I booked the 2bd suite which was 1,100 dollars for 3 nights and was disappointed that within an hour of arrival, I had to call the front desk to have them change a curtain that had a blood stain on it and to clean the balcony that was unkept and killed 3 spiders on the door to access it. To be charged this amount of money for a semi renovated room, I could have stayed in a Airbnb for a week. Now another thing that threw me off was the way I was treated initially when I contacted the hotel about early check in. I called because my bachelorette party was that day and asked if I can come an hour early because I was busy for my wedding to be told I had to pay 30 dollars to check in early. Now that’s fine, but to find out my friends who checked in the day before in the morning were not charged this same fee made me upset because it needs to be even across the board and we were the ones that brought those guests to the hotel. Regardless, when I went down about the things that needed to be changed in the room, I was met with some annoyance and told to make a list since I was leaving. Besides this, the area was beautiful and convenient. I have photos of the sheets in one of the rooms were there were holes and I didn’t know until we saw it, it also had dried blood. I would think they would check the rooms to make sure it was ready to go. I would not recommend anyone book blocks for a wedding as their hotel is not ready to handle this, and the price was not worth it in the end. For reference it was myself and at least 6 other rooms in different buildings that had issues. I also would have appreciated transparency that the hotel was still not done with renovations. Thank you.

Great place to stay for the evening!! My boyfriend and I came into town for the first time and we picked The Citrus for their rooftop bar and other amenities surrounding the hotel complex. Our room was in building 3 and we were pleased with how clean it was and how well our AC unit worked. They did not disappoint there, but the rather disappointing part was our experience on the rooftop. If you want to pay cash, better make sure they don’t run your card and pocket your money. We understand it’s mandatory to have a card on file for an open tab to secure payment, but my boyfriend told the bartender he would pay the bill with cash. The bartender wouldn’t take any cash at the time he asked for the card, so we thought we were good to go. Before we leave, our bartender asked another coworker to close us out. They ran the card on file AFTER my boyfriend paid for the bill in cash. It’s been a week and still no update.

LOUD LOUD LOUD. Don't stay here unless you're bar hopping and don't plan on sleeping. So disappointed. Was looking for a nice boutique experience and a full night's rest for months. Turns out, I would've gotten better sleep staying home with my 8 month old. Also, room smelled like cigarettes, floor was sticky and dirty, and the lake view is of a busy parking lot with the lake in the distance :(
Micaela B — Google review
Parking is survival of the fittest. They give you a parking permit that is useless and it’s just good luck Literally said good luck….The best part was you get a metal cut key for your door Which is a little dated. But nothing compares to booking your room in advance and then giving your room to somebody else and you getting a key to go into the room that somebody is already occupied with all their stuff out. That is the citrus on the lake. They had no solution and just made me sit there - also didn’t believe me when I told them the room was occupied. I had to get a hotel an hour away.

What a great find. Nice hotel with a beautiful view of the lake and awesome nightlife in a walkable area if you stay in the hotel. 7 minutes from downtown Mount Dora.. perfect for a little weekend getaway at a Great price! Large roomy room with a balcony that was perfectly perfect for the sunset. This will be our go to when visiting Mount Dora from now on.

Nestled in Ocala, Florida, the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing is a must-visit for any motorsport enthusiast. Established in 1984, this captivating museum showcases an impressive collection of over 300 vehicles across two distinct buildings. The Drag Race building features around 90 iconic racing cars that tell the thrilling story of drag racing's evolution, while the Antique Car building houses an additional 50 vintage automobiles that celebrate automotive history.
I freaking loved it!!! If you are into cars or drag racing, this is def somewhere you want to visit. I've watched drag racing my whole life, and I learned more about drag racing and its history than I ever learned just from watching racing on tv. It was so cool to stand right next to the heroes I saw on tv they have so many cars from a lot of the top names in drag racing. There is a ton of memorabilia that you get to look at. There are cars with cards explaining the significance of that car. They have a room full of cars that have information all around them then another room full of cars with info but not as much as the previous room then another room full of engines some cut away engines, intake manifolds, carburetors and other cool stuff. I spent 3 1/2 hours just walking around the museum they have a whole other building with even more cars that I didn't get to see yet, trust me I'll be back again to see. They also have a room where you can buy alot of items stickers model cars shirts and things, i assure you if you are a car lover and a drag races enthusiast this is one stop you must put on your bucket list! It was $22 to get in the door, and they offer many discounts to military and other categories. It made me want to drag races even more, which I didn't think was possible

This place is historic. Every artifact is genuine to its time and place. Worn racing attire, actual dragsters driven, real engines, trophies, endless amounts of photos. Every step taken in this wonderful museum tells a story. There is so much to see and learn here and Don Garlits has given everyone the opportunity if they just take time to listen. 11 out of 10 recommend this fantastic experience. Thank you, Don Garlits and your great museum staff members.

I have beenn3 times now. This last trip was the ultimate. November 1st was the date for the Mopars at the Museum show. Awseome show with dozens of beautiful Mopars. After the show, Big Daddy hosted a tour of the museum. To hear him tell the stories about the cars sitting there and the people that built and drove them is simply amazing. He hosts tours of the museum throughout the year. I highly recommend taking one.

This place was awesome! So much history and so much to see. Well worth the admission fee. This place brought back so many memories. If you love Drag Racing this is a must see place. The antique car museum next door (included with admission to Drag Racing museum) had so much nostalgia not car related and was great as well. All the stories behind each vehicle was a treat to read.

An absolutely underrated place. So much history and cool stuff for kids and adults. You could spend hours in there if you don’t have small children. Lots of reading to do and videos to watch. Some cool interactive things to do as well. We almost met Don Garlit, but he came and went without us, knowing. He seems like a great guy and wow, has he achieved a lot. Super grateful for him putting this together for the younger generation to experience.

Renninger's Flea Market & Antique Center in Mount Dora is a renowned hotspot for antique treasures and unique finds. Spanning 117 acres, this vast weekend flea market offers both indoor and outdoor spaces filled with antiques, musical instruments, produce stands, clothing shops, and collectibles. The surrounding region boasts scenic landscapes with towering oaks covered in Spanish moss.
This place has everything! There are so many booths, it would take days to look at them all. We spent a Sunday afternoon here and we enjoyed looking through all the antiques, plants, and toys for the kids. We also enjoyed some corn from the roasted corn vendor. Delicious!

One of the largest and most diverse flea markets I've experienced, largely because it's like 3 markets in 1. The outdoor table area has your $1 toys and vacuum cleaners, but then down the hill are rows of small buildings with vendors selling flowers and bird houses and leather belts. Then the large, unassuming building at the bottom of the hill houses some high-end antiques with jewelry and furniture out of my price range! My wife deals in vintage jewelry, and she was overwhelmed. You would need 2 solid days just to see everything here. It was amazing.

Went here for 2024 antique extravaganza, our first time. Took about 10 mins total to drive through entrance and park. Took about 10 mins or so to get through gate 4 to get a wristband - $6 each. But man, walking around on a gorgeous Saturday morning was pretty epic. A lot of cigarette smokers but all good. Tons of vendors, tons of awesome stuff to see. Port a potties set up in various spots plus a few restroom buildings. The food area was incredible. Definitely an awesome event !

Renninger’s Flea Market is Flea Market which runs Saturdays and Sundays 8 – 4! Located on 117 acres of scenic, rolling land in beautiful Lake County, the heart of Central Florida; amid spreading oaks, garlands of Spanish moss waving gently from their branches, you will find Renninger’s Twin Markets in Mt. Renninger’s Twin Markets are also home to a large number of special events including antique fairs and extravaganzas, Cars and Guitars shows and swap meets, vintage garden shows, and much, much more. One of my favourite weekend places to frequent with family and friends plus my pet chi too!

I love flea markets and antique stores so much!! This place was crazy though. Very Very expensive and packed. Some of the stuff is really bad and over priced. It has too many people in there. Not all of the vendors take cards only cash -just FYI. We left early and went home. Not fun. 😞

Easy parking, lots of friendly people and endless vendors: from fruit and veggies to health insurance! We enjoyed the food choices as well.as the variety of beverages. We were impressed with the BBQ turkey legs and the choices at the Wine Shack. We purchased several healthy plants from the many vendors. The bathrooms were plentiful.and clean throughout the venue. We will return!

Absolutely worth your time. We took the 2 hour tour and it was fantastic! The owner Mr. Thompson taught us the history and back stories of the breed. His wit and charming way of presenting his farm and horses history, was electric. The farm setting is beautiful as well as the horses. Relaxing morning tour is what I recommend. They have coffee for guests and its easy walking around the farm. Just wear good walking shoes for sand and grass. 5 star tour...highly recommend and we want to go back. Thank you Mr. & Mrs.Thompson

Very nice place to visit and experience the great Gypsy Gold Horses. They have 2 tours. The short one is good with little kids and it’s about an hour long. If you are really interested in knowing the history then other longer tour is good which last around 2.5 hours. The location is beautiful and staff is super friendly. They will feel you like you are home. Do visit if you are near Ocala.

I hope this treasure of a place continues forever. It is his labor of loved and should be honored. He is a tue visionary. His sister inlaw gave us a tour and she is just as passionate about these magnificent horses. I can't wait to visit again.

Karen and Shannon took great care of us on our tour today. We had VIP tickets that included meeting a Clydesdale foal. Our tour included all kinds of great information about what the Cobbs do with their horses, how they breed the horses, how they pick individuals for jobs, and how they spearheaded competitions for their horses in Florida. The horses we met were sweet and curious. It was a treat to meet your gentle giants and learn about the job that these amazing horses do. Thank you for sharing your horses with us!

Very calming and quiet environment. It’s a big property to walk around, their zen garden is fantastic for meditating, specially with the raking of the rocks. Great place for a picnic, frisbee and a quiet calm moment by yourself or someone. Bring a book if you’re a reader and some change to feed the koi fish with your children.

Whether you prefer walking to clear your mind, sitting quietly to relax, or simply enjoying the calm of nature, this park offers it all. I especially loved taking a moment to feed the fish and enjoy the outdoors without the hustle and bustle of the crowds. As an added bonus, there’s even a lovely Zen Garden that enhances the overall sense of serenity. A hidden gem worth visiting again!

Shalom Park is more than a park, it’s a spiritual sanctuary made for slowing down and taking time to look around you and see why we are all here on this earth. Every time I am at Shalom I find a sense of peace in the beautiful nature surrounding me. I come here multiple times a week to get some exercise in while smelling all of the beautiful wildlife and enjoying one of Gods greatest creations. I love the concept behind Slalom, there are quotes and poems all around the park and different themes like the Japanese Garden. The amount of effort and creativity behind Shalom is something I have never experienced before and I feel blessed to be able to visit every week without paying a dime. Shalom is by far the most beautiful and artistic park I have been to filled with culture and knowledge. The park is privately owned and open to the public, they close fairly early around 5pm and no pets are allowed.

Nature & Parks
Silver Springs State Park is a historic Florida attraction with crystal clear spring runs, offering glass-bottom boat tours to spot turtles and alligators. The park features an on-site museum showcasing the area's natural history and a re-created 19th-century pioneer settlement. Visitors can enjoy activities such as kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding while encountering diverse local wildlife including manatees and turtles.
Magical. Simply magical. My husband and I had the most wonderful and relaxing time paddle boarding and kayaking here. It’s easy to book on their website (read all the instructions before you go) and super convenient. They supply the paddleboard and kayak and then even pick you and your equipment up downriver at the end of your journey to drive you back up to the parking lot. It’s a decent amount of time depending on how you pace it, for us at a super easy pace it was a bit over 3 hrs so definitely bring water! But man…what an amazing adventure. From the second you push off the rest of the world melts away and you are literally engulfed in Florida’s natural splendor. Beautifully shaped trees, crystal clear water, large fish and turtles swimming under you, gorgeous birds preening on tree stumps, diving for fish or soaring overhead and occasional crocodiles and even manatees! If you’re afraid of the heat, we went in August and it actually wasn’t so bad because there is so much shade on both sides all the way down the river to stay under. But for a half day adventure? Totally worth it! Just 3 hours of floating and relaxing and wondering at the beauty around you. Please, please, please. If you get the chance or are in the vicinity, stop and swing by. If you want to reserve a kayak or paddle board definitely do so on their website in advance. But either way, put this on your list. It’s so breathtaking and absolutely worth it 👍

My wife and I were able to return to Silver Springs State Park and take one of the glass bottom boat tours this time. We definitely recommend taking the 90 minute tour as opposed to the 30 minute one. Our captain and guide, T.C., did an excellent job telling us about the history of the park and the details of the springs. He also pointed out the wildlife and gave us details about the ecosystem. We were fortunate to see a number of the animals that inhabit the river including manatees, alligators, monkeys, and numerous wading birds. After the boat ride, we had lunch at the cafe and were impressed with the food quality and prices. This is a great place to spend the day.

My mother-in-law was in town and we took a troop up there to rent a canoe and see wildlife. The water was beautiful, as a spring is always are, we saw alligator, turtles, tons of birds and fish! The water is absolutely clear. We did our own little thing in a canoe with three of us... And my service dog. We had an absolutely wonderful time and will definitely go back. I would suggest doing a tour because we caught a few tours that were giving some pretty cool information and we will definitely try that next time. After we were done we went hiking a little bit. We ran into a gentleman who was liking along the trail and he warned us that there are bear there. So next time I will definitely take some mace with us just in case. But the paths are well marked and it's beautiful. Lots of hiking to be had. It's pretty flat but very sandy.

What a beautiful place. We went to the park and rode the 90 minutes Glass bottom boat for the very reasonable senior discounted price of $25 a person. Captain Luke was knowledgeable and funny. It was a really nice boat ride. We saw anhingas, turtles, alligators, monkeys and several other birds. What a beautiful place. I'm glad that it is a state park. We are lucky to have such a nice place

My friend came to visit so we played tourists for the day and drove to the spring for the glass bottom boat ride and brunch. We had such a lovely visit in the park. The park is beautiful, we'll maintained, lovely local vegetation and wildlife from birds to reptiles. We strolled the pathway for a while taking it all in. The glass boat ride did not disappoint with one exception no Manatee but we saw the wonderous and famous springs, turtles, alligator and tons of birds. The Captain was entertaining and knowledgeable about the history of the springs. Then we enjoyed brunch at the café on sight. We lingered there for a while enjoying sangria, coffee drinks and of course delicious entrees of eggs Benny and chicken and waffles. After brunch we enjoyed checking out the shops and the water fountain. All in all a great park for a visit. I look forward to returning for some kayaking

Wow.. what an amazing way to spend a few hours! We rented the glass bottom kayaks which were very easy to control after about a minute in them. They are made to not tip very easy and one person on the tour with us went from sitting to kneeling and moving to the front to get a picture with no issues at all. Alyssa, our guide, was very knowledgeable, kind and beautiful. Our time in the water was 2 hours and every minute we were finding something to see. Manatees, turtles, alligators, they have monkeys but were not around on this day, fish etc. A very peaceful experience and perfect for most anyone that can get into a kayak and paddle. You will not be disappointed with the site for sure. There is some places to eat etc on site as well.

This is a must-see experience if you do the 90 minute glass bottom boat tour. The Springs are incredibly beautiful. We got to see lots of manatees, alligators, turtles, and birds. Sadly, we did not see any monkeys. I highly recommend! Male a reservation in advance to guarantee you get on one of the boats.

We went to Juniper Springs on a Saturday around 2 in the afternoon. There was about a 30 minute wait to get in. We didn't realize that we'd been there before but quickly recognized it after seeing the spring. Juniper is a medium sized spring. There is a wall built up around it with a ledge in the water. The area around the spring is terraced to allow people to sit on a flat surface. Pros: staff is friendly. No reservations required. Feels great in the heat. Bugs aren't bad in the summer. Buzzards leave you alone. Cons: If you want to snorkel, there's really not much to see. The springs is small enough and has a sandy bottom and can get pretty cloudy with everyone swimming in it. Boardwalk is down for the time being.

This place is ridiculously priced we were charged $46 for three people and EVERYTHING except the small swim hole was open. The trails are very unkempt , the bathrooms were disgusting thank goodness the lights didn't even work in them otherwise it was probably worse then we thought, there no one was around to help, there is no reason to be charging these prices for literally nothing offered. Go to Silver Springs it's beautiful and they only charge $5 a car load! DO BETTER, close up or charge WAY LESS!!
Diane M — Google review
Juniper Springs used to be a beautiful place, but much of the facility is clearly in disrepair. The boardwalk through the jungle has been broken for a long time and doesn’t seem to be getting fixed. There used to be a way to swim along the river, but that’s no longer possible either. The spring itself is lovely for swimming, and the jungle trail could be wonderful if it were maintained and open for public. As it stands, though, the park is in serious need of renovation. At $60 (Labour day), the admission feels way too expensive, especially when there are other springs and state parks nearby where you can pay around $10 per car and enjoy a well-kept experience.

It's a cute spring, basically a hole in the ground but the kayaking was fun, took 4 hours and a lot of exercise. The owners of this place don't know how to run a park, they will strand you at the loading site if you miss the time they're supposed to pick you up after the kayaking. Our pickup time was for 3:00, we got there at 2:58 and the bus already left, and they didn't come get us until 5:00 because I wouldn't stop calling their office. We were told that we've gotta find someone to come get us even tho we didn't miss our time and we're here on vacation, been there done that won't be coming back 👍

Everything is run down and broke. The trail is closed and has been for a long time. The picnic gazebo is shutdown and fenced off. They paid someone to put a chainlink fence around this rundown gazebo instead of repairing and replacing. It makes no sense. Seems whoever runs the show sucks at their job. To top it off you have kid lifeguards yelling though a megaphone every minute not to jump 8n the water. Yea you heard it right. You can't jump in the water. Not dive. Jump. It's a natural spring and you can't jump or dive. Such a waste. Fire the useless lifeguards and let people enjoy the springs. It's bad enough you have to pay 15 dollars a head and all you get is a dilapidated park and obnoxious lifeguards. Place turned to a waste

Juniper Springs Recreation Area was a big letdown. They charge $15 per person (incl. taxes), not per car, which feels like too much. The main pool was packed with people, like a crowded mess, so it wasn’t fun. The Millhouse Exposition was a joke—just an empty building with nothing inside. We went there to kayak, but it was closed, and nobody told us at the entrance. That’s why we came, so it was really upsetting. When we talked to the staff about it, they just said, “Your money helps keep the park open.” I’m okay with supporting parks, but I want to know what I’m paying for upfront. Be honest with visitors! If they don’t fix these issues, people won’t want to come back.
Anton K — Google review
All of the recent low reviews are right….$15/person to park. Trails have been closed for years. Building isn’t open, bathrooms are closed. Staff isn’t friendly. You can’t even swim in the water. We walked up towards the edge to look at fish (which is a paved walkway) and got yelled at. Absolutely nothing to do, but park your car and get yelled at. Shouldn’t even be an entrance fee. Go to ANY OTHER spring!!

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve offers a unique and fulfilling experience for animal lovers who prefer a more natural setting than traditional zoos. Visitors praise the active and seemingly happy animals, as well as the knowledgeable and safety-conscious staff. The guided tour is described as a well-oiled machine, providing an in-depth look at the incredible big cats and other animals.
Visited this wonderful reserve today. It was really informative and had a great time looking at all the animals they have taken in. Please visit the reserve, your ticket fee helps support the animals rescued by this wonderful organization. Thank you so much for helping the animals 🐅, 🦁, 🐺!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and tour on August 16, 2025. Our guide Vince along with the other volunteers who came along with us was very knowledgeable and informative. A highlight was learning about the back story on each individual animal. The park is extremely organized and well run. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. It was a very hot day and the water bottles were greatly appreciated. We will definitely talk up the tour with our friends and neighbors. Thanks for a wonderful outing.

We attended the first Halloween party, Lions, Tigers and SCARES and REALLY enjoyed it! GREAT Experience. We called it an Adventure! Because we had a great time - as much as the weather allowed. The adventure was cut a little short due to a heavy downpour. But it was wonderful to see so many people in the community come out and support the event. It was obvious the turnout was way beyond what was expected. Organizers also faced huge unforeseen challenges before the event even took place... Everyone working at the event was super friendly. And organizers continually expressed their appreciation to everyone who turned out and did all they could to help ensure our experience was enjoyable. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and worked great with the children in our group.

This is a really cool place. Lots of big cats all with interesting stories from their rescue. Also has wolves and some other interesting animals. You have to take a tour to visit, but the animals are incredible. Unfortunately, no pictures. Apparently, people in the past have ruined tours trying to take pictures, so definitely a reasonable request.

It was very impressive to see all the animals up close that were saved by this place. I wasn’t expecting to see so many animals in such a neat and organized environment. The tour was very informative, and it truly made me think about how we can help protect wildlife from humans who seek to profit from them.

Vince, Shelly, Alex, and Margaret were all fantastic! The tour was incredibly informative and you could tell how much the animals love their care takers! I’m so happy there’s a place like this that can give those animals sanctuary. Watching Indigo chase the vultures and the playful lion was a hoot! The send off of the wolves howling was also amazing! These animals really get the best of the best and this place deserves nothing but five star reviews and as many donations as you can give! I will be telling everyone to come give you guys a visit! I really appreciate that they don’t allow photography because it allows a more genuine experience with the animals and you learn more! They offer a flash drive of beautiful images of all of the animals that you can purchase from them. I recommend getting a magnet or two as well. :)

Our group of 11 people from Palm Coast went for a tour of the Wild Reserve. A reservation was made over the telephone prior to the visit. Samantha (Sam) was our tour guide. She is most excellent. We all learned a lot about animals that we did not know. We also were informed about why these animals need to be rescued and cared for. The animals are well cared for and in large, well made containment structures. As a group, we look forward to adopting some of the big cats. Also we were "shepherded" along the tour path by 4 to 6 other staff members who kept us together and behind the safety zone barriers. One staff member drove a 6 passenger gold cart for the walking impaired. The accompanying staff members also took turns feeding the animals "snacks." The Wild Reserve is a hidden treasure in NE FL. We will visit again with friends and family, plus donate regularly.

Went for the Saturday 2pm tour and was totally blown away. Don't be put off by the dated website ( still references covid) or the overall dryness. The actual Wild Reserve is beautifully ran by a core group of staff, along with some great volunteers. You could tell that the animals were loved and well cared for. Enclosures are large and constantly being upgraded. All enclosures were clean, have freash clean water and plenty of enrichment items. I have been to zoos at major cities that dont do the job with their animals that these passionate people do. Will bring all future visitors here. Absolutely loved it!

Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, the largest fine arts museum in Northeast Florida, offers a captivating experience for art and nature enthusiasts. Situated on a riverfront site, the museum showcases over 5,000 priceless works of art from various eras. The historic beauty of the location is complemented by its lush gardens featuring rare horticultural specimens and canopies of oak trees. The picturesque backdrop of the St. Johns River adds a timeless charm to engagement photos taken in this romantic setting.
The museum is one floor and gorgeous. When I went, there was live music which was pleasantly surprising! At first I wasn't going to walk the gardens, but I had time and I'm glad I did! It was arguably the best part. I recommend take photos on the gardens and looking up some of the plants and flowers. The staff was nice as well.

Wonderful experience. Interesting displays and beautiful gardens. We visited on the first Saturday of the month, so it was free. But the $20 adult entry fee is very reasonable and worth it. We will return.

Spent the afternoon wandering the gardens, watching the butterflies, and enjoying all of the art. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and there to answer questions. The layout of the galleries and court yard was convenient and the bathroom facilities were clean and well kept. Parking was easy and free and I can't wait to go back and spend some more time looking at the paintings. I particularly liked Andrew Wyeth's gallery and recommend 10/10

First time visiting Jacksonville and this place was a must for me, I love museums and i got to say that this place is small but its very rich in art, love it, I'm from Ecuador and seeing a piece of art from Guayasamin made my day, also Carl, he was very nice and explained us the program that they have for kids and non-seeing people doing art, it was very very touching and we loved how he explained that to us! Museums needs more people like him! ❤️

The Range of the Jaguar showcases exotic big cats alongside various native species from Central and South America.
Wow-what an amazing zoo! We were so impressed by the beautiful animals and gardens. So clean and the animals had lots of area to roam. We spent 4 hours here and was blessed with the king of the jungle’s roar and up close contact with the giraffes! Best day ever!

Great afternoon adventure! We were visiting the Mayo Clinic and we decided to spend our afternoon at the zoo! We arrived about 12:00 and left at 5:00. It was the perfect amount of time. Our favorites were the gorilla’s and chimps. This is really a beautiful zoo with so many different species. Most of the paths are shaded which really makes it nice to walk around.

Had a fun experience with the family here. We bought the pass that includes the train and the whole experience. The grandkids loved the train and the play park for kids and the penguins the best. I'm sure lots of other things too. We went early on Sunday right after it opened. The lions and turtles were still sleeping. The food was good, portions were large. We had chicken strips and fries. The reusable drink cup is $10 and refills are I think $1.50.

When we travel, we always check out the local zoo. I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve lived in FL my entire life, and never visited the Jax Zoo. My hubby and I recently visited - twice within 6 weeks because it was sooooo good! Their exhibits are well done, the collection of animals is quite impressive and the grounds are well maintained. We thought the entrance fee was very reasonable and most employees / volunteers were helpful. 100% recommend for all ages. If walking is too much, suggest buying the pass that includes the train ride.

A great zoo. Pet the manta rays and even feed them. That’s quite the experience or feed the Giraffes. I never realized how big their heads are. Beautiful creatures. It’s great fun for all ages Make sure you choose the right plan for tickets. . General admission doesn’t entitle you the activity to go on the train or feed the Giraffes!

Jacksonville zoo is one of the best! The current metalworks are fantastic! There is a great playground for kids with a tree house, rope bridge, cement slides and more. It's a little pricey. If you're local, get an annual pass and go often! Highly recommend. Go and spend the day.
Laura — Google review
We finally visited the zoo and was not disappointed. We loved all the animals. Sometimes it does get sad knowing they are captive, but these animals had friends in their enclosures and looked like they were treated well and feed even better. The small inside reptile and amphibian walk through buildings were the most exciting to us! It was like a super game of hide and seek. The giraffe feeding was what we looking forward to all day. We were a tad disappointed that there was only one small area to feed, but lucky enough one of them was willing to come over and let us feed. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The train ride was fun also. We got on the train from the very start and rode to the back of the park and walked from back to front which was awesome in our opinion. The layout of the park is great also with one main road and the different areas branched from that. Plenty of restrooms along the way and areas to stop for dining or just a quick drink spot. Several areas had adult drinks..... this was like THE BEST PART. My daughter connect to the nature adventure compass and played along the whole way until it got disconnected and annoyed her. But all was fun and we 10/10 recommend. Just be careful with booking a hotel and make sure to do research about the area before you book.

This is a beautiful County Park in Jacksonville. Your backing skills had better be on point however. The roads to the sites are very narrow with trees just off the edge, so not a whole lot of room for nose swing.

I recall the first time that I ever been to this park is when I used to be stationed at N.S. Mayport in 1993. My first visit was awesome and had no idea that this particular park was here. This picture is from 2019 and it was perfect timing when I took the picture. I love many types of birds and nature as well.

It is a beautiful place to get the camping and beach experience. One thing I would say needs improvement it's the bathrooms, mainly the showers in the campground. Other than that, my family and i enjoyed it this weekend.

Tried to go to the beach with our dog and we got turned around at the gate.. this was the first place that was dog friendly on their list of dog friendly beaches. We had to drive our boat on the ferry which was awesome. But this park was well worth all of it. Very clean and beautiful scenery. The park is spacious and large for hiking camping and just day trips. There's a splash pad and huge lake. We didn't get to explore much as we were just stopping by on our way home. Their little beach area was really cute and nicely kept. Water was clear and weather was nice. Perfect little area for family or for peace.

Very serene! Was wonderful to go on the hiking trails, seeing the prairie, walking along the boardwalk and visiting the observation tower. We went in the morning during the week and there weren’t too many people there when we arrived. However, more people were showing up when we were leaving. There is the option of renting canoes and kayaks. As well as a boat ramp for your own boat. I would suggest bring water or a water bottle since it can get hot and at the visitor center does have a water station near the bathrooms. Would come back again

“There are places that don’t just take your breath away… they give it back. Slowly. Sacredly. Like the first inhale after a long cry.” I went to the Okefenokee needing peace… but I didn’t expect to find presence. The blackwater moved like memory. The cypress knees rose like prayers. And every echo every birdsong, every ripple felt like a whisper from God Himself. Here… I wasn’t just walking through a refuge. I was held by it. The stillness didn’t feel empty it felt full. Holy. Alive. As if the swamp was remembering everything we’ve forgotten about how to live… and how to listen. The herons, the gators, the dragonflies they weren’t just wildlife. They were part of a sermon in the wild. And somehow… I knew I belonged. Here. In this slow, breathing, broken-beautiful place. I’ll never be the same.

We live locally decided to take our 2 young children down and do the boat ride. After getting their life jackets on one of the tour guides walked up and asked if we had the 2 toddlers that we needed to not go and get our money back. It was hot and he didnt want to have to turn around and come back if they had a fit. Mind you we go out on the boat frequently and our children wear vests all day long on the water-they are used to it. Luckily we can just go to the other park where we are welcomed and they handled the children great in waycross. Think about that next time for someone who may not live locally if they have a toddler.

This was an awesome experience. We went in February during an unusually warm day (80 degrees). It was nice, not too humid or buggy. If you're not used to southern humidity and bugs, I'd plan to visit here during winter or late fall months. The visitor's center was great. The staff were helpful and shared so much information. It's such a neat experience. The boat tour is an additional cost, and it is totally worthwhile. There is a federal park fee cash or card are accepted.

Tony and I went to Folkston, GA outside of Jacksonville Florida basically across the state line. This swamp is full of Alligators and is a Refuge. The cost is $5 per person and if you take the boat ride it's only $25 each extra. The ride is 1.5 hours long. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We were the only ones on the boat, kinda like a personal trip. Very nice! We were on the 930am boat tour on a Wednesday so it wasn't very busy and very enjoyable weather. The bugs didn't bother us much, but we did have on quite a bit of bug spray!!! I tipped him $15 for the trip, we saw a turtle, 2 tiny frogs, several different species of birds, 3 Barred Owls and 4 Alligators. It was very enjoyable and I would definitely do again!! Highly Recommend you detour for the boat tour!!!

Nestled in Jacksonville, Florida, The Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary is a heartwarming non-profit dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of exotic cats like tigers, lions, and pumas. This sanctuary serves as both a refuge for these magnificent creatures and an educational hub for visitors. Here, you can learn about the challenges faced by large cats due to habitat loss, environmental issues, and the dangers of keeping them as pets.
A great sanctuary that you can tell cares very much about the animals and the environments they are provided as well as the experience customers are receiving. We went on one of the hottest days of summer so unfortunately at the time we went, many of the animals were sleeping or retreating to shade, but there was still a lot to see and be excited about! My kids loved it. Highly recommend!

we absolutely love coming here to see the cats and more! highly recommend attending the evening feeding on Friday or Saturday to see all the animals at their most active. the volunteers do such an amazing job explaining what they’re doing and about the cats and the sanctuary in general this is such a unique experience, I go out of my way to bring new people each time and they always love it. and each time you visit, you fund improvements for next time! just in a couple short years they have installed so many new features for the animals, and new footpaths and pavilions for us humans

The enclosures are very spacious and very well maintained. The animals look very healthy and well taken care of. It's hot during the day (time of our visit), so animals are very inactive. Only 1 tiger and bear were up, walking around to be able to see up close. We wanted to do a night feeding tour, but my grandsons wouldn't be in town. It's definitely worth a visit for the cost. I look forward to going back when it's cooler outside.

Our Saturday evening visit to Catty Shack Ranch was great! On Friday and Saturday evening at the Catty Shack you can see the big cats and animals being fed around 7. The park opens at 6 so we went in early to enjoy seeing all the great enclosures that have been built for each specific animal to enjoy. We were told that Earth Works works together with the preserve to build their beautiful water features. Also, our good friend Mike Frailey has worked diligently to build many of the platforms and habitats in their enclosures. Every animal there has been rescued for many different reasons and cannot live in the wild. The park is clean and well designed so you can see each magnificent animal. They are also open from 1 - 3 on weekdays to visit. The admission to the park goes to the care and food for the animals. It is a very fun and rewarding way to spend a Friday or Saturday evening. Please go, enjoy and help these animals at the same time. The park is very easy to find which is near the Jacksonville Airport area.

This place is not just a hidden gem, it’s a unique place that actually care for animals and saves them. I saw these guys online while googling “what to see in Jacksonville” and bought tickets for night-time feeding. We visited on Aug 29,2025 and it was perfect temperature. BE AWARE that if you are wearing bike shorts or anything short like that - use bug spray because there are a lot of mosquitoes. They have those sprays on the tables (when you walk around animals already) on case you don’t have one with you. Feeding was so cool, and all the volunteers and workers were so professional and friendly! We were able to see all the animals! And almost all of them were playing/interacting somehow, not just sleeping :). Totally worth the money! And they do have cool tshirts if you purchase a ticket with a free tshirt!

Quality experience as always at Hampton Inn. No issues. Beautiful room. The amenities were top notch. Everything was clean and functioning. Probably one of the largest rooms I've ever gotten. I was a little disappointed with breakfast. It was free; however, the selection and quality seemed lacking to me in comparison with other Hampton Inn experiences. In addition, I felt it was a bit tacky that the morning breakfast service staff put out a basket where guests could leave tips. I guess I've never seen that and too me it seems tacky and I think they're enough places I'm being bombarded with tip requests that I don't need to think about that when getting my Included hotel breakfast.

Location Good, But Hotel Needs Serious Upgrades Unfortunately, our stay at the Hampton Inn Amelia Island Historic District was a disappointment. While the staff was very friendly and welcoming, the hotel itself is in serious need of renovations and better upkeep. When we arrived, our room had a strong, unpleasant smell—possibly from humidity or the air conditioning—moldy, not sure , and it didn’t go away during our short stay. We were in a rush to get to dinner, so we didn’t bring it up with the staff, but the issue persisted and ultimately led us to check out after just one night. The carpets in the hallways were old and worn, and the overall feel of the hotel was dated and not well maintained. It also seemed like there was a shortage of housekeeping staff, as the cleanliness standards didn’t meet expectations. The one positive was the location—right by the marina and just a short walk to downtown and restaurants, which was very convenient. With some much-needed renovations and better maintenance, this hotel could live up to its potential, but for now, it fell short.

The location of the hotel is great, as it is within walking distance to many places downtown. The room appeared initially clean; however, upon coming back from the beach, there were a large number of ants lined up all over the headboard of the bed and wall in the hotel room. Maintenance said this happens often and came & sprayed, assuring us that the chemical was safe; however, we requested a different room. Thankfully we had some time prior to our dinner reservation to pack all of our things & move to another room. The room we were moved to was larger but more dated. We also had a plumbing issue during our stay, which was resolved quickly thankfully. While the staff were helpful when needed, they seemed disengaged & not super personable, & I wish we would not have required their repeated assistance with room issues.

Place was great. Location fantastic. Room spacious and clean. Front desk staff awesome. Train did come by around 6:30 am but that was it, not an issue for us and worth it for the view. Salty Pelican 5 minute walk is great for food and spectacular sunset views. Will definitely return.

This hotel is very conveniently located near Centre street which is lined with bars, shops and restaurants. Inside is very charming with old world/Victorian decor and was pleasantly decorated for Halloween. Staff on certain shifts could have been a tad more helpful but overall its clean and has everything you might need.

We were really impressed with the service and quality during our recent stay at the Hampton Inn Fernadina Beach. From the folks working the breakfast buffet, to the knowledge of the front desk staff, to the cleaning folks cleaning our room every night, everyone was pleasant, professional and friendly. We stayed for five days without issue, and in fact the staff made the trip more enjoyable by their attention to detail. Thank you so much!

Location was great! The train comes by and sounds horn around 5:30 am but passes quickly. They do supply ear plugs. The microwaved breakfast options need improvement.

Rooms are nice, bright and clean, only con i noticed, their was not a microwave in my room. Location is great, parking is tight and usually full at night, their is free overflow parking across the street.

Fort Clinch State Park, located on Amelia Island, offers a variety of activities for visitors. The park features a well-preserved 19th-century military fort with guided tours and living history demonstrations. Additionally, visitors can enjoy camping, nature trails, wildlife viewing, and a beautiful beach suitable for biking. With its historical significance and natural beauty, Fort Clinch State Park is a must-visit destination on Amelia Island.
Very cool and unexpected find on Amelia Island during our vacation. The fort was built before the war of 1812 and most recently still under military control during WWII. It was near exploring all the nooks, kitchens and barracks and offices quarters. You can walk on top of the tour for a view of the river and see Georgia. There is a soldier dressed is union uniform that will answer any questions you have as well as a museum full of all the history. Only $2.50 pp.

Beautiful fort, I’ve been coming here for years. Great scenery, right by the water. They have a gift shop and visitor’s center as well. It’s $6 per car to get in and an additional $2.50 per person to see the fort. Plenty of parking, but the road from the entry point to the actual parking lot is pretty far with a low speed limit. Overall, it’s worth visiting!
Wade — Google review
Fun activities, lots of history, and very knowledgeable staff and reenactors. I had a blast visiting and cannot wait for my next visit. Very good views of the Fort from the beach, which is easily accessible. There are several enjoyable trails to hike, walk, and bike as well.
Christopher W — Google review
It holds the history of the island. For $6 entrance fees we were able to tour the park. The salt marsh is a great first stop. The light house can be seen from here. The history of the light house is on a plaque at this stop. Walking on dunes is prohibited. A paved road takes you through the park with pullouts along the way. The vegetation is thick on both sides of the road. A camp ground is available too for those interested in camping. The fort itself is something to see. Interesting that there was never an engagement there.

My boyfriend and I loved exploring Fort Clinch! It was worth the $6 entry fee and $2.50 per person to enter the Fort. The beach at this state park is beautiful but lots of oysters (watch your step)

Fort Clinch State Park is great for camping! The sites are in great repair, and are a short walk to the body of water. You can fish there all year! There is also a bathroom/bathhouse that are kept clean by the staff. (There is also cell phone signal if you are worried about that.)

What an awesome local treasure! We were in for the weekend and truly enjoyed this community and this park. The history of the park is very interesting and the guys were very knowledgeable.
Troy G — Google review
We accessed the park on a rented “ arcimoto” electric 3 wheel vehicle . I highly recommend seeing the park this way or on a bike to get immersed. Facts about the park can be found on the website. I want to add some directions to navigating the park instead. There are basically two places to see if visiting for an hour or two. The fort and the beach. See the photos to orient. First sign you come to is clearly marked beach to the right - you could spend an hour or a day there! Straight ahead is the fort. We did take at least an hour to tour. The video and small museum are informative. The fort property is interesting and well staged. Just to see the tree canopy and Spanish moss was interesting. Side turn offs are separate camping areas etc. Check out the park map!

The Jekyll Island Club Resort is a luxurious and expansive property located in the heart of Jekyll Island. The resort offers elegant accommodations, three top-notch restaurants, and a refreshing outdoor pool. Golf enthusiasts will appreciate the Jekyll Island Golf Club, featuring four distinct courses designed to cater to various skill levels and surrounded by stunning coastal terrain. Additionally, guests can enjoy recreational activities such as renting bicycles, working out at the fitness center, or taking a dip in the outdoor pool.
Just spent a weekend getaway here and had so much fun! The resort was so beautiful and clean. Drinks at the downstairs bar were by far best I’ve had in a very long time. The staff were all so helpful and accommodating. Mike at the front desk welcomed us and made us feel right at home. Will definitely be back soon!

The facility was cool because of the history and the surrounding cottages. The staff were friendly and the rooms were nice. The main dining room is very nice. The bar is over priced. You better like steps if you stay here. The boardwalks and outdoor steps are showing their age and need much maintenance.

Thank you for keeping your reservation staff in house. They are such a pleasure to deal with and very knowledgeable. I spoke with Patina, twice in reference to having to reschedule my visit due to an injury. She could not have been more understanding and gracious. Even going so far as to say she hoped I felt better soon. I was able to reschedule and will be there at the Ocean Club in one week.

This was a gorgeous resort. I stayed at a few places on Jekyll and this was the nicest, high end product. The staff was simply wonderful. We asked for recommendations on everything and they were so helpful. The bartender was great. The breakfast was fantastic. I can't say enough.

I was impressed with my 1st visit in the springtime of 2025, so I kept this hidden gem in mind to come back for my 34th bday from a Friday-Sunday in November. The staff from the morning to nighttime provided 10/10 service. I recommend scheduling tours, bicycling around the island, and hit up the cabana massage place. Cozy up near the fireplace and drink an old fashion. Really up to you to explore the amenities.

We just attended my daughter’s wedding at Jekyll Island Club Resort and I can’t tell you how amazing it was. Everything was perfect from the food, the accommodations, the weather, all of the service people etc. Diana and Luke were amazing….they watched and listened throughout every event to make sure everything was perfect for the guests. I was truly amazed about how caring everyone was to make sure Lauren and Kylene had the most amazing wedding ever. Thank you so much.

I love this hotel. It makes you feel special. We've found it is a good place to have meetings too. The only drawback is that is not on the beach. However, there is a shuttle that runs all day between the historic location to their property that is on the beach. Picture yourself in a rocking chair on the porch of the "old" Jekyll Island resort while the light summer breeze rock you into relaxation.

We recently stayed at the Jakell island Club to celebrate my husband's birthday. The grounds are beautiful, however, we were disappointed with the management and their attention to some of the issues we encountered with our room. The cafe machine was not working. The shower water pressure was nothing but a small stream, in addition, we were woken up at 5:30 in the morning with loud noises from the room above us. when we brought these issues to the front desk, they didn't seem to care and dismissed our concerns. They said they would send someone to check on the shower head, but noone showed up, the cafe machine was never fixed, and the noise above us continue the following morning. I arranged for my husband to have a birthday celebration at a hotel that advertises to be a four star hotel and we feel that's not what we received. Very disappointed!

The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is a dedicated educational and rehabilitation facility focused on the study, care, and protection of sea turtles and their environment. Through its rehabilitation, research, and education programs, the center aims to raise awareness about conservation challenges for these protected species. Visitors can observe turtles in their hospital habitats, explore informative exhibits, and support the center's efforts by purchasing marine-themed gifts from its shop.
What an incredible experience. We were there the day they brought in their largest rescue ever after she had been struck by a boat. It was amazing to see how they were caring for her and how her shell had been repaired. You know your money is going to the right place when you visit here. Also the gift shop prices are really good.

We absolutely loved our visit to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. It’s educational, engaging, and inspiring…perfect for both kids and adults. The exhibits are well-designed and interactive, offering fascinating insights into the life cycle, rescue, and rehabilitation of sea turtles. Watching the turtles being cared for in the rehab center was a highlight, you can tell the staff are truly passionate about their work. The staff and volunteers were friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to answer questions. The behind-the-scenes tour added an extra layer of appreciation for the incredible effort that goes into protecting these animals. We especially enjoyed the educational videos and hands-on stations that helped us understand the challenges turtles face in the wild. The gift shop has a great selection of eco-friendly products and souvenirs that support conservation. Whether you’re an animal lover, science enthusiast, or just looking for a meaningful stop during your time on Jekyll Island, the Georgia Sea Turtle Center is absolutely worth the visit.

The visit here was the highlight of our trip into Jekyll Island. It was very educational. The staff and volunteers here are friendly, knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you may have. We also loved getting to see the turtles (and a small alligator) that are currently there being rehabilitated. It's not a terribly big place, but great for what it is. They dont receive any state or federal funds, so I'm happy knowing that our admission tickets, as well as purchases from the gift shop, can help to fund the important work that they do. We would enjoy a return trip upon returning to Jekyll Island.

We took the behind the scenes tour with Kristen. We were given a tour of the hospital area and introduced to the staff. They were busy working on a sea turtle and a small alligator both had been hit by cars. It was a fantastic tour so interesting. I can’t recommend this tour enough, worth every penny.

One of the highlights was seeing the rescued turtles up close and learning about their recovery process. The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable and passionate, happily answering questions and sharing fascinating insights. The center’s efforts in conservation and rehabilitation are truly inspiring. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by to support their important work! Plus, your visit helps fund their rescue and rehab programs. A fantastic experience for all ages!

Driftwood Beach

Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island's north end is a truly unique and picturesque destination. The beach is named after the abundance of driftwood found along its shore, including whole fossilized trees. Erosion over the years has created this phenomenon, resulting in a stunning natural scene with ancient trees resembling a tree graveyard. The beach extends from Clam Creek picnic areas to the Sea Resort and Conference Center, offering an unparalleled view of the sunrise and making it a perfect spot for extraordinary photographs.
This beach was so beautiful and amazing. My mouth dropped when I saw it. I was in awe the entire time we were there. It was like one big work of art. The drift wood, tree with sea shells, rocks look like they were perfectly placed. It looked like a complete masterpiece! I parked in a little area on the side of the road and walked a little trail to get to the beach. There was brown sand first and as you continue to walk, you hit the beautiful white sand. You probably shouldn’t walk the beach in sandals but I did with no problems. It would be better if you wore tennis shoes. You will do quite a bit of walking to see the driftwood. But it was well worth it. This beach is awesome and does NOT disappoint! This is definitely worth every bit of time you’ll spend there. If I could give this beach over 5 stars, I would. This is definitely a MUST see! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Absolutely STUNNING location with so many things to see and explore. Not your average beach at all. This is a place to interact with, and truly be amazed. The trees here are over 500 years old and they are magnificent!!!!

You have to stop and see this place! It’s unlikely other beaches for sure! The trees are bare and look dead but yet they are rooted in the sand and some are rooted in the water! It’s a great place to meditate and take pictures! Very little parking when it’s busy and no rest rooms. Keep that in mind

It’s a unique beach! There were quite a bit of people on the beach and swimming, although I didn’t feel comfortable swimming, especially with little kids. Lots of small crabs (look carefully at the trees) and mostly small shells. 🐚

For years I've looked at a pic of me, mom and sis taken on Driftwood Beach in the mid 1960s when I was prob 4yrs old - had no memory of it so have always wanted to go. Stunningly beautiful in its rugged appearance and unlike any beach I've seen..totally get why folks would want to get married there, as was the case when we went. MUST SEE.

Really beautiful and unique. It’s illegal to take the driftwood but I seen lots of families and friends chilling on the trees and some even had hammocks! Not much else to say . I enjoyed exploring this beach and soaking in nature .

Love this beach!! If you go at low tide with higher winds, the bugs are not as bad. We try to get there on an evening low tide with moderate winds (12-18 mph). Our twin toddlers were comfortable for a solid hour with no bug bites in the middle of summer (we got lucky because I had no idea). Then, the following summer we were being bitten by flies. So the next year (see pic) we tracked wind and tides and it was good again - highly recommend for a good photo op!!!

A walking trail & a stately home tour highlight life on this historic antebellum rice plantation.
This offers a fascinating glimpse into Georgia’s history. The guided tour of the home was incredibly informative, with well-preserved artifacts and furnishings that made it feel like stepping back in time. The grounds are beautiful, with moss-draped oak trees, walking trails, and stunning views of the marsh. The visitor center had great exhibits that provided even more historical context. Whether you’re a history buff or just looking for a unique and scenic spot to visit, this plantation is well worth the trip!
Adam B — Google review
My wife and I love history, and she likes to visit plantations, estates, and manors whenever we can. This one was filled with local history of the area, and history of the family, including the slaves that were housed here. Our guide kind of "white-washed" the slave history a little bit, making it seem "not as bad" as we know it to be, so that was a little disappointing. Let's just be honest and call it what it is, and learn from it. Overall though, it was a good experience, and I would recommend a visit.
Andrew S — Google review
Visiting this plantation was an incredibly eye-opening and educational experience. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that great care had been taken to preserve the site’s deep and complex history. The tour was thoughtful, respectful, and comprehensive, highlighting not just the beauty of the grounds, but also the difficult and important stories that are part of its legacy. Our tour guide was absolutely fantastic and knowledgeable, engaging, and deeply respectful of the subject matter. She didn’t shy away from the harder truths and offered insightful context that helped us better understand the lives of the people who lived and labored here. It was more than just a tour, it was a powerful learning experience.

We decided to stop by on our way home. It's conveniently located just off I-95 South (Exit 58). Located next to a gas station, it's really easy to find. Georgia Peach World doesn't just sell stone fruits such as plums and peaches, but they also sell whole watermelons, t-shirts, jackets, hats, snacks, juices, jellies, jams, nuts and so much more. Btw...they even have clean bathrooms available for their customers. As far as the peaches goes, we bought both the yellow and white. The yellow was still not ripe, so it was a little hard and tart. The white ones were ready to eat just a day later and they were sweet and Juicy.

Stopped here on the way back from Savannah and loved it. They have so many cute and unique things. The little bags of gem-filled sand are a fun activity (like panning for gold). If you’re the owner and you’re reading this review, Zoey deserves a raise. She is knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She was able to tell us everything we wanted to know about all the products and she had great recommendations. I will definitely stop in here again next time I am in the area.

This little spot is conveniently located right off the highway. It’s a little dated but has a lot of personality. There are so many peach products. Peach drinks, peach marmalades, peach pies, peach syrups, peach alcoholic drinks etc. We really enjoyed the peach lemonade. There are fresh peaches available as well. Theres a cute medium size bird that you can say hi to and other farm animals. Worth the stop if you have the time and are traveling through.

I stayed at the backcountry/hike-in site 1 on April 22nd. Arrived after the park office had closed but it was pretty easy to figure out where I was going from the reservation packet they had left to the left of the entrance. No information about where to park for hike-in sites. The hike was short but nice. The right-hand trail of the loop (the shortest way to site 1) is closed but it still took less than 20 minutes to get to the site. Site is pretty small with no fire ring and it is right next to the “lookout platform” (kinda disappointing- it’s only about 7 or 8 feet off of the ground) so if anyone wants to go there they will be traipsing through your campsite. But the hike in sites are far away from the main campground so not sure that many people would be interested (no one came through my site in the 12 hours or so I was there). The location is nice, right at the edge of a wetland area with a small waterway right in front of the lookout center, but the bugs are relentless. The no see ums were so bad I could not enjoy my dinner on the lookout platform like I had hoped, and the campground rules state that you are not allowed to have a fire unless it is in a designated ring so I spent 99% of my time there in my tent hiding from the bugs. Maybe it was just the time of year, but I don’t think I would stay here again. Also, they charge you a parking/access fee and I think that’s pretty crap to be charged for that when you are already paying for camping.

The guest services were kind and helpful. The self guided tour was perfect. It was very discriptive and informative. You could go through at your own pace. The entire place was beautiful and tranquil. If you listened closely as the wind blew through the trees and the palm fronds, you might hear the voices of long ago soldiers as the prepared for and fought battles. This is somewhere I would definitely return to in the future.

Visitors can enjoy interactive activities such as putting areas with both old-style and modern equipment, as well as a simulator where they can play using contemporary gear.
So I got the honor of officiating a dear friend’s daughter’s wedding here a couple of weeks back. They did the rehearsal (outside the museum, rehearsal dinner (top floor), ceremony and reception (in museum). The staff was super friendly.. loved the bartenders and servers and the coordinator was very responsive with whatever we needed. They allow caterers to come in and you have access to the museum during the reception.. which is super cool! So much to see and learn about golf! A great place to stop and visit. It's much bigger than I anticipated. It has all kinds of stuff. Anybody would enjoy it. There's also a little gift shop and an eatery.. and for anyone who may not want to go in, there's an IMAX right beside it.

As a lifelong golfer and enthusiast it was a great experience to visit the World Golf Hall of Fame . The wonderfully pristine grounds and the exquisitely layed out exhibits , made my visit here an all-around pleasure.

Loved it! I'm 67 yrs old, so all my golf heroes are featured here. The exhibits are well done and you can spend hours. Some of the narrative cards are too small for aging eyes but overall, a great experience. So cool to have an island green golf challenge to test your skill as well as a golf simulator were you can "play" some of the worlds famous golf holes. If you're a golfer/golf fan, you'll enjoy your visit.

I loved hanging out here. However, it was a ghost town and it’s sad to see that they’ll be closing up shop in St Augustine and moving to Pinehurst in the next couple of years. The golf target challenge was fun.
