New Hogan Lake is a popular recreation area known for its boating and fishing opportunities, as well as its surrounding campsites and hiking trails. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as camping, water sports, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. While there is no marina or fuel service available on-site, the lake offers a pleasant temperature for swimming with rocky areas both in the water and on land.
It’s a beautiful place. I take my kids there for hikes but never on summer. It’s too hot, too busy, too crowded, too loud. So we go there on week days, and like August till May.
Ewa K — Google review
Spent a hot summer day at New Hogan Lake, specifically over at North wrinkle Cove day use area, and it was fantastic. The weather was warm, perfect for cooling off by the water. The lake itself was peaceful and clean, great for hanging out, swimming, and just relaxing with friends or family. Plenty of spots to picnic and enjoy the sunshine without feeling crowded. The lake views were beautiful, and the vibe was just right for a chill summer day. Definitely a great place to beat the heat and soak up some nature. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun, sunny day by the water!

Limits by 11am! Busy after that with boaters and jet skiers! Beautiful ACOE lake well maintained no fish cleaning station so get dirty!
George M — Google review
This is mostly a location for boaters but there are several good walking trails and one side is well marked for mountain bikers. Campground spaces available, but a bit primitive without a trailer.
Kelly M — Google review
We really enjoyed this lake. It was our 1st time there. The wait to put the boat in the water was about 10-15 minutes.
Carolyn B — Google review
Such a great lake in a very family friendly community. Always a good time to be had by all
Kymberli L — Google review
Only lake we go now perfect for family boat time.

It was very dried, water was very low, not much to do out here. No fish at all.

Mercer Caverns

Historical landmark
Caverns & Caves
Mercer Caverns, discovered by a gold prospector in 1885, offers guided tours through its vast limestone caves. The caverns feature stunning crystalline formations like the Angel Wings and delicate aragonite formations, as well as stalactites and stalagmites. Once used by Yokut Indians as a mortuary cave, it was later abandoned until its rediscovery. The guided tours last about 45 minutes and depart every half hour.
This is simply an amazing place. The story on how it was discovered and the history of the Cavern is something out of a fiction novel. I highly recommend this tour. It is such a unique place, well maintained and knowledgeable tour guides make it absolutely worth a visit. It's not a big place, so plan ahead, small parking lot. It is a very enclosed space, so it may not be for some people, but the cavern is literally 1 of a kind. There are some tight spaces and a lot of steep steps, but I am a fairly big guy, and I made it not problem.
Eric C — Google review
Great experience! The guide was a funny girl with energy, and she was making jokes and interacting with people. It's a must go if you're in the area. The tour is about 45 minutes and very entertaining. Good for kids too!
Rosa M — Google review
We visited Mercer Caverns just for the gem assay, and it was a fun kid-friendly activity! You get a bag of mining rough and use a water sluice to pan for treasures. Lots of colorful gems like quartz, amethyst, and obsidian—great for younger kids or anyone new to rockhounding. The staff was helpful and identified some of the better finds. It's not a serious geological experience, but it’s perfect for a quick hands-on souvenir and a little sparkle to take home. Great stop if you’re short on time or skipping the cave tour. 💎 Worth it for families or gem collectors looking for a casual, fun activity.
Sarah B — Google review
If you're in Calaveras County CA you've got to try and make the Mercer Caverns. We arrived on a Sunday, Aug 31st around 12:30pm and were put on the 3pm guided tour (no more than 15 people each). To burn 2 hours we went into Murphy's and had lunch at the Watering hole, which we highly recommend. Coming back, we went into the caverns. Wow. Stalagtites, stalagmites and so much more! Guide was exceptionally informative about history, pointing out all the cave formations, and clever funny too! Gave him a nice tip at the end. The cave is over 450 steps down with multiple stops along the way to admire features. Wife and I were really happy to have done this. It was the highlight of our day!
Randall M — Google review
Worth visiting if you are in Murphy’s, located a few miles outside of town. Well run and maintained, friendly staff and a great tour guide. Typical cavern tour - lots of really steep stairs, some narrow passages, have to watch you head in a few places, but the stairs are sturdy with hand rails all along the way. Some interesting features to see - the aragonite crystals were unique, and some nice closeups of “cave bacon”. Loved Zoltar in the gift shop. Only complaint is not being allowed to use a GoPro camera - some guy came out and told me video cameras were not allowed. I asked why. “Cause that’s the rule”. Kind of rude, and a silly rule since all phones take video, and the DSLR camera I did use take high resolution video. The GoPro was small and attached to my body with a harness. I’d like to know the reasoning, given that I used it at Moaning Caverns the week before.
Rich B — Google review
they say it's cold down there, but it was rather refreshing due to it being 98 outside. our guide Serena was amazing. very patient with our kids.
Jason B — Google review
Loved the staff, the gift shop was perfect now over stuffed with irrelevant merch to sell. The views of the caverns we amazing. Out of my family of 5 I struggled at the end with my breathing coming up and out, but I am a bit overweight. The lack of water with such little air is what got me so if you are over weight, asmatic or claustrophobic go in and have a great experience but know these things will trigger. Im looking forward to going back after loosing a little weight bringing my inhaler. Buy tickets on site may have to wait a little bit for the next tour they say how cold it is down there but with the constant moving you stay warm I got hot when we reached the bottom. I loved hearing all the history.
Corinna H — Google review
It was a great tour. The guide did a wonderful job pointing out the significant areas of the cavern, including the geology and history. Be ready for lots of stairs.

Ironstone Vineyards

Winery
Food & Drink
Ironstone Vineyards, established by John Kautz in 1995, has grown from a small 12-acre plot to a fourth-generation business producing award-winning wines sold globally. Visitors can enjoy wine tastings at the Tasting Room and complimentary tours of the wine caverns, amphitheatre, and museum. The vineyard's wine caves feature a unique waterfall used to regulate humidity for aging reserve wines.
This place is a must-see destination if you're up in the Gold country california. They have really good food and many wines and the grounds are amazing. They have so many historical artifacts here and also the best selection of different wine options like slushies, dessert wines and also some really nice cabs and my favorite was reserved cab franc. There's a lot of history here that it takes multiple trips to sync everything in and next time we come we'll be doing the cave tour as well which is very exciting. Quinn was our wine server and she went well beyond our expectations. She is so friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and which one she recommends. We are very grateful for this experience and will be back soon.

Always a super beautiful place..but the workers are not ever very welcoming and friendly. Just basically going for the views now. The girls at the Deli act like you are bothering them if you ask them any questions. It has happened the last two times. So we definitely didn't eat there. The flowers and vegetation are incredible during spring time and we do love it. Gift shop wasn't open on Saturday, so we weren't sure what that was about. There are paths and trails and elevators, so it is a good place to go with wheelchairs too.
Jill — Google review
Amazing winery and history museum. It's easy to forget how much history california has. Don't forget to visit the 45 lb gold nugget but theres a ton of fossils as well that were in great shape. The winery itself has a ton of events. Food. Chilled ready to drink wines. They hold concerts and holiday events I had no idea so much was going on in one spot. The wine tasting was great we had thorough explanations of everything and the wines were all really good. Had no idea the obsession fruit wines were part of the same winery. Really great place to hang out and relax.
Margaret T — Google review
Was super surprised by the sheer size and scale of this place! Was expecting a tasting room with a cute flowery outdoor area but it was not that. I was warmly welcomed and told about the place then got a plastic cup to walk around with and got to explore the beautiful grounds. Will hopefully be back for live music!
Jacqueline W — Google review
I went to a winery for the first time and it was amazing, atleast they let people in who don't drink wine and I really appreciate that unlike wineries in Napa. The place is huge and amazing, very beautiful ❤️ The way they have designed it and maintained it is commendable. I took a tour too and the lady who gave us the tour was very nice and friendly. I can spend my whole day at this place. This place also host car shows n musical concerts from time to time. It's a must visit.
Komal S — Google review
I can’t say enough kind words about the venue and staff at Ironstone. My husband and I got married at the winery in May, and everyone went above and beyond to make our day special. Especially Christina, who helped organize and facilitate our ceremony and reception.
Caroline S — Google review
Cathy and Ian are just wonderful genuine honest sincere folks. They take customer service to a completely new level and raise the standard amazingly high. Likewise the wine is enjoyable and the food is tasty. The grounds are beautiful. If you make this vineyard a stop on a list of stops, you will forget about your other activities and enjoy a whole day here with no remorse.
Matts P — Google review
We had our wedding here at Ironstone Vineyards this past weekend and I cannot express enough, how amazing and wonderful and beautiful this location was! Christina (our Ironstone Event Coordinator) was amazing to work with and super helpful with all of our specific asks and needs. The food catered through Ironstone was also incredible! Our wedding guests were so impressed and the atmosphere was like none other.

Sights & Landmarks
Columbia State Historic Park is a well-preserved gold mining town from the 1850s, offering visitors a glimpse into California's history. The park features costumed reenactors, tours, stagecoach rides, and gold panning activities. It is known for its well-maintained facilities including parking, bathrooms, and hiking trails with beautiful trees to admire. Visitors can also explore the nearby Stanislaus River for scenic hikes.
We visited Columbia State Park on Monday. It was peaceful and cool day for us to walk around this historic park. Almost shops and restaurants are closed for weekdays. It seems we miss the weekend vibe. However we feel it’s interesting just to walk through the park - Get to know about gold rush town with its real old history. A lot of things for family to enjoy a whole day at this town. * old well fargo bank * Old style bowling * Museum * Gold panning * Old jail style A bonus star for kid-friendly. Park road are blocked off all. We feel safety to walk or even cross the road. Great experience - Clean and beautiful park. Free park / free parking; worth the visit. It’s an amazing hidden gem in California but not so many ppl know. Thank you all workers for keeping this place well maintained and preserved!
Scarlett N — Google review
Super cool old west town from the gold rush era. The place is closed to cars so one parks around the town and there are plenty of parking spots. We ended up grabbing a beer and a personal pepperoni pizza from the east saloon. The town itself had several open stores from clothing to antique, to a general store and even the wagon front store and the Wells Fargo store. There is also an area where people can search for gold. This will be a great spot to bring the entire family. Highly recommended.
Manuel N — Google review
This was my first visit, it’s been on my list for some months now. There is a drive to Columbia is beautiful in its own right. The history of the city is fascinating. There are some fun activities while you’re there. from a horse drawn carriage ride. Old school bowling, exploring the old buildings. The Jail, School house and cemetery were amongst my favorites. Cool off with some ice cream, grab some old school candy and have a picnic at the boulders. Once you’re done eating. Have some fun climbing around the boulders. It’s a cute village.
Exit Z — Google review
Absolutely n love this place grew up here as a kid came back from the nostalgia! Miss this place so much I definitely recommend to people who never been here or just passing through to see Yosemite!
Pookie — Google review
An experience you must have!! Must make a full day to be able to have ice cream at the ice cream parlor, candle making and eat at the Saloon and go shopping and support local businesses. Don't forget the stage coach ride! There's also camping nearby, so plan accordingly. Also, don't miss the old school, school House.
RODAREZ B — Google review
We went on Columbia's Gold Rush Days, second Saturday of each month. This is a MUST VISIT PLACE. There are many businesses you can visit such as the General Store, the What Cheer Saloon, Candy Kitchen, Blacksmiths and so so many more business. People live in this town so be respectful. Dog are allowed there but not in any business or building. Entry to park, tours and museum is free. But there are restaurants, stores, a real Blacksmith shop, ice cream parlor and much more to spend money on if you choose too. There is so much to do. Like take a picnic, do a self walking tour, join a guided tour for free, buy a ticket to the stage coach and so much more. Th stage coach is so fun and the driver was great. It was worth the $17 tickets and don't forget to have something for the bandits!! 😊 You can eat at the Saloons, restaurant, grab picnic stuff at the mercantile or pick up a snack at the candy store or bakery. We brought our own picnic from home but next time we will just buy at the Columbia Mercantile. Also buy the fresh Bread there it's soooo worth it. Wild flower Honey on the sourdough mmmmmm yum! Columbia's Gold Rush Days is free event every 2nd Saturday of the month, the Docents are dressed in period clothes and they will give tours plus answer any history questions you might have about Columbia at that time. Very knowledgeable people!! The militia guys do a march to raise the flags and a gun salute (fake bullets). It was super cool (loud, only for a second) and they stayed after to answer questions. I can't say enough about this place, take your time, wear walking shoes and enjoy all the cool history. Every staff member at the business and the volunteers for the park that we spoke with were Just Amazing, nice and super helpful. Amazing people!!! If you bring a picnic you could spend the whole day not spending money just enjoying your time OR you can treat yourself to lunch & a snack and still spend the whole day having a blast!!! There are lots of shaded picnic areas, clean public restrooms and places to walk. We are going back for the Christmas event in December.
K M — Google review
Really cute little town to wander around for a few hours. Some shops were closed when I went on a Tuesday and the ice cream wasn't locally made, so that was a bit disappointing. But the museum was interesting. The shops had some fun handmade items. I liked the free wooden bowling lane. I didn't pan for gold, but it looked like fun, so did the horse drawn carriage ride. It's primarily shops and restaurants, but worth a peek if you're in the area.
Rachel C — Google review
This place was so cute, I want to live there! There's lots to do and it's very kid friendly. It's a great place to visit whether you want to shop and do activities or just look around. You can pan for gold too! People are very friendly.

Galaxy Theatres Riverbank IMAX

Fun & Games
I've been here countless times, but felt the need to review it today to show it the love it deserves. Seats are always so comfortable with great surround sound. The snack bar is always very fast as they have two running(when it's busy), and they even have a little bar spot to sit and have a drink. The arcade in the back is always fun to drop a couple quarters in.
Diego L — Google review
Price for the 2 of us to see a movie at 2:15pm, Sunday was about $30. That's for one adult and one senior. The electronic, reclining seats, which work by a rocker switch, were very comfortable. The place was clean and the only smell was the smell of popcorn! I did find it strange that when I walked in I didn't see any employees. I had never been there and I had assumed there would be a person or a sign letting me know where to buy tickets. After wandering around and not seeing any employees I went to where I thought I could buy my tickets. I didn't work. A couple times the computer told me to try back in a few minutes- but the movie was starting in just a few minutes! It asked for my email and phone number but never let me make a purchase. After my husband parked, and came in, he was able to find an employee. She was very helpful and asked if we qualified for a veterans or seniors discount. She sold us our tickets and we made it to our seats during the previews. When you buy your tickets you actually buy specific seats, like row X, #9 or row W, #11. You can't go in, look around and choose to sit where you want.
Amy T — Google review
I have nothing but good things to say about Galaxy Riverbank! Every experience has been amazing and we will always be regulars thanks to the great staff. They’re always providing excellent and friendly service! Even during the busiest times they always manage to keep a smile on their face ensuring everyone has an enjoyable experience!
Maritza G — Google review
My first time to visit, went on a Friday to an 11:00 a.m. show, and had a good experience, even though the movie I picked was lame. I am in a wheelchair and the wheelchair areas are in good locations, on two different levels (I went up to the higher level). I was towards the center of the theater and not too close to the screen. My son had a comfortable reclining chair which was located right next to me. Bathrooms are accessible, however I did have to push the trash bin out of the way to enter and exit. The parking was good too. I live out of town, but will definitely go back.
Cary G — Google review
Galaxy Theaters Riverbank IMAX is hands down the best theater within 30 miles! The reclining seats are incredibly comfortable, and the temperature is always set just right for a cozy movie experience. Every corner of the venue is spotless, the food is delicious, and the giant bag of popcorn you can buy is pure fun for the whole family. We absolutely love coming here and make it a point to visit as often as possible. The rewards program is just the icing on the cake, this place truly sets the standard for an outstanding movie experience!
Matt — Google review
Great seats and atmosphere. Favorite theater around the area
Jimmy A — Google review
Since openeing, I've seen several movies and sat in nearly every theatre. The place is overall clean and well-maintained. Staff have always been kind and helpful. The biggest issue I'm noticing is many of the recliners are now broken and/or inoperative. Today (08/02/2025), I sat in the IMAX with family. There were seven of us. All seven recliners were broken. Pretty disappointing paying for premium assigned seats.
48 T — Google review
Best movie theater establishment in the central valley. For a movie theater, the pulled pork nachos and the hot dogs are incredible! Doesn't even compare to the fancy San Ramon movie theater. The employees are very polite and awesome too!

Scenic Railroads
Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is a must-visit for train enthusiasts and families alike. The park offers tours of the roadhouse, seasonal locomotive rides, and weekend excursions on historic trains from April through October. Visitors can embark on a 6-mile, 45-minute journey through California's Gold Country. The park also features docent-led or self-guided tours, a movie museum, and ample picnic areas.
My son and me are big train fans. On the way from Lake Tahoe we stopped here. It was amazing. We got a private tour through the roundhouse and the workshop and could see amazing steam locomotives. As a matter of fact, they have the original locomotives from the movie Back to the Future III which is also a star in a lot of other movies. We definitely recommend going here if you are train lovers as we are.
Stefan H — Google review
A Must-Visit Historic Railroad Site A fantastic historical site dedicated to the legacy of railroads. The display of locomotives—all are over 100 years old—is truly impressive and a step back in time. We were lucky enough to take the tour with Walt, an 87-year-young volunteer whose passion and knowledge brought the entire experience to life. He made our visit unforgettable. I highly recommend making this a stop while in town
MOE J — Google review
My son is obsessed with trains and absolutely loved this place. It is a historical landmark that really makes you feel like you stepped back in time. We loved learning all of the history of the iconic locomotives! My boys loved pushing the button to start the train in the little shop. We will definitely be back!

We visited Railtown 1897 State Historic Park completely by chance, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. From the very first moment, we fell in love with the atmosphere of this place. We managed to hop on the last Sierra train ride of the day, and it honestly felt like being inside a movie set — so authentic and magical. The historic trains, the scenery, and the friendly staff made the whole experience unforgettable. I would highly recommend this park to anyone, whether you’re a history lover, a family with kids, or just looking for something unique to do.

May 2025 After many years of trying, we finally were able to visit and ride the train. It was a glorious day all the way around. The staff and volunteers were great. The grounds are nice and well taken care of. We purchased hotdog lunches there after the ride and ate at one of the many picnic tables. Had a great roundhouse tour. Excellent book and gift store.
Dan C — Google review
Railtown 1896 State Historic Park offers some older trains and a train ride. The park is only $5 for admission and fairly small and can be seen in about a half hour. The train ride is a separate fee.

What an incredible experience. Dog friendly, people friendly haha. After the train ride , stay for the tour. It was fricken fascinating. But I’m a history buff and I was enthralled with the lectures . Great time :)

Went on the Historic train ride and it was a ton of fun. All the volunteers working here were super friendly and the reenactors made the train ride something the whole family will remember! The museum itself is a great place for foamers or just normal people interested in the local history of the rails. Be sure to visit the gift shop afterwards because it is full of lots of very cool train related items for young and old!

We had an awesome experience rafting down the river! We got a big group together (around 70 people) and just had a blast. The people were great, they got us on our rafts quickly and let us start our adventure. We brought water rifles and cannons to make the experience even better. I would highly recommend this awesome adventure to anyone!

This is my second year rafting. My sister and family have been going for years and I’m so glad they convinced me to join them. It is tons of fun. The experience has been a great one each year. No complaints. Staff is great. The water has been perfect each time. I will definitely continue to go rafting with Sunshine Rafting Adventures.

Looooved it, recommend it. Can wait til my girls are old enough to go again. The pricing i can say can be better. There should be days when they give discounts. The staff can improve on providing directions a little better. I definitely look forward on going back.

Highly recommended for a fun day on the water! My family has been going rafting for years with Sunshine Rafting. We have created some of the best summer memories while rafting. The staff always makes us feel welcomed. They are very family oriented and always keep safety at the center of our experience. We will definitely be continuing this tradition every year.

So much fun, especially for first time rafters. Lots of staff along the river to check in with you and make sure everything’s going well. Trip took about 5 hours in mid July as the waters were mellow. There’s a halfway point you can get off if needed. Great experience, we will be back!

Highly recommend sunshine rafting adventures for the ease of booking, cost, friendly staff, and awesome experience on the river! I went with a group of 30, and the friendly sunshine crew set us up with rafts, paddles, life jackets, and there are plenty of places to pick up water guns along the way to the river - so much fun! Will absolutely be back!

Was very fun experience with river journey we were seven in the boat and six of us were rafting. It is pretty easy. The river is 7 miles long so it takes 4 to 5 hours. We did not take any food or beverages with us and I will not do that again. It is a good idea to take some snacks inside an ice box. We did not swim because the water was very cold but overall it is a great experience!!

This is the best rafting company. The equipment is all in great condition and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. If you are at all nervous about rafting or just want to have a worry free trip, I highly recommend their guides. They are experienced and know the river well. This will allow you to relax and have fun and they will ensure your safety on the river. I took a large group as a team building and everyone loved it. It’s a great activity!

We had such a great time here! We had LOTS of kids with us (9) and the staff was excellent and patient as he explained water safety. Just adventurous enough to give the little ones a thrill without being too scary. Beautiful scenery too! We will definitely be back!

I haven't actually used these guys but I can say that they're 100 percent professional and we're lucky to have them on the river with us. I'm a local and go my own route but they position safety teams along the route and when my daughter was ahead of me and out of sight when she wiped out, one of their crew was there to toss her a line and help her with getting back to us and did an amazing job keeping her safe and calm, and for that I'm eternally grateful.

Had a great time from beginning to end. The check-in ran smoothly and the employees were nice. Very affordable. Make sure to bring sunscreen! Would definitely recommend River Journey and look forward to going again.

River Journey is absolutely the BEST choice for summer fun on the Stanislaus River! My family and I have rented rafts and kayaks from RJ before and have always had an amazing experience, from the very professional and warm customer service, to the high quality rafts and equipment. I really love that they have a photographer along the Russian Rapids to capture your loved ones crazy faces as you barrel down the rapids!! Nothing but good memories are made on their river rafting adventures.

This place does NOT give good customer service. I use their services three times, and I thought maybe it was just that person or maybe it is a bad day for them or whatever... but every time I went the service was bad and it only got worst. the driver is a jerk he speeds and has no consideration or courtesy when speaking to people, he even threaten to leave the group at the river because someone made him upset, he took a very long time to come back. but I wasn't just the bus driver it was also the women at the booth and the guys picking up the rafts at the end. will NEVER go back. Good Luck to the ones that do.

Absolutely atrocious. It took us 5 hours in the flat current. No movement. I swear this was the worst money every spent. I would never do it again. I only did half the trip and it was the most MISERABLE experience. DON’T COME TO THIS PLACE. DON’T BELIEVE THIS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.

The RV Park at Black Oak Casino Resort

RV park
Very attractive RV Park with all the expected amenities plus a pool, trash pickup twice daily & a free shuttle to the casino. The sites were concrete and level and cable was also available. A gas station on site had the cheapest prices around and has a convenience store. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again.

We had my stepdaughter’s 16th birthday party at Black Oak Lanes, and it was a total hit! 🎉🎳 The staff was super accommodating and made everything really easy, which I appreciated since we had a mix of teens and younger kiddos in the group. The automatic bumpers and ball ramps were perfect for the little ones, and the older kids had a blast during glow bowling—it felt like a party all on its own with the lights and music! 🎂✨ Everyone left happy (and a little sugar-fueled from the snacks), and we’ll definitely be back. Such a fun, clean, and family-friendly place to celebrate!

This place has it all. While we were there, a strong freak spring storm came through dumping about 6 inches of snow one night, and the power never went down. We did have a lot of issues with the TV cable service, though, but that was on the provider and not the parks' fault. Great gas station and general store on site, plus casino and trampoline park. They are also in the process of building a huge pool and water park. Sonora is just a few miles away and has everything from major shopping to great restaurants to eat at. My wife and I had a great time.

Clean resort style amenities and friendly staff. From casino to the drivers. Grounds were clean and tidy. Watch out at night for cockroaches near the sewer drains and water lines. Had to double check everything before we left. There was a lot. But we will be back for sure. Lots to do to keep kids entertained!

While we have visited Black Oak Casino many times, this is our first stay in the RV Park. Clean, quiet, and well maintained with shade trees and concrete pads. Pool, play grounds and a small lake in addition to the normal stuff like showers, etc. There is a shuttle service to and from the RV Park. Dog friendly. We will be back!
Tim M — Google review
Very nice casino and resort, the only thing I didn't like is their ventilation system sucks. You could smell all the cigarettes in the building. Loose slots though.
Richard S — Google review
Really liked the rv resort! Very clean, nice level sights with full hookups. Garbage service twice a day. Strong wifi signal. Door to door shuttle service to casino & store. Pool, bocce ball & horse shoe pit. Fishing at the lake but catch & release. Very reasonable rates & military discount. The casino has a good variety of slot machines.. Unfortunately bowling alley & arcade in the casino is closed due to covid. Some restaurants only open on certain days. Will definitely come back!

This RV park is fantastic we had a quick check in at the front gate wide open spaces nice and clean facility including swimming pool, hot tub, a small Lake even though it was closed for fishing they also have horseshoes and a nice Community Center. It's walking distance to the casino they also have a shuttle that runs every half an hour that will pick you up at your spot. The casino has a bowling alley and a Great seafood Buffet on the weekend.

Yosemite Guide Service offers a variety of experiences, including the opportunity to participate in events like the search for Yosemite's first B.A.R.K. Ranger Ambassador. The service provides informative tours with knowledgeable guides who share the park's history and take visitors to stunning vistas while providing delicious meals. Additionally, they offer alternative hiking options when conditions in Yosemite Park are not ideal, ensuring a wonderful experience in nearby areas like Hoover Wilderness National Forest.
Yosemite Valley in Yosemite National Park came to life thanks to our wonderful Tour Guide, Austin. He was very knowledgeable, fun, kind, professional and shared great history points of this majestic place. We had a large group and only one day to visit the park. We appreciated Austin’s vast knowledge of Yosemite’s history and places that are off the beaten path. We will return so we can visit Glacier Point.

I book private tours with YGS and was very gratefully assigned to Tommy. The Service that he provided was more than my family asked for or could’ve ever expected! His genuinely kind, considerate, energetic, and fully knowledgeable about Yosemite personality allowed my family to LIVE Yosemite! Tommy tailored our tours (three days) specifically to our wants and capabilities, adjusted when we needed him to (especially when too many people arrived in our quiet spot where we were relaxing), had an excellent handle on time management, took many pictures for and of us…The list is endless!!!!! My family will be forever grateful for the care that Tommy took of us and the once in a lifetime experience that he provided us at Yosemite!

Our three-day hike (my daughter and me) was initially planned for part of the High Sierra in Yosemite Park. Because of the lingering snowpack and flooded trails this summer (2023), Yosemite Guide Service suggested moving the hike to Hoover Wilderness National Forest, on the northeast edge of Yosemite. Our trip was wonderful. We camped for two nights on a lovely (and cold) lake, listening to the wind in the trees and a waterfall across the lake. The mountain vistas changed with every bend of the trail. Each lake was more spectacular than the last. Our YGS guide, David, helped us when we needed it. I am a rusty camper who hasn’t carried an overnight pack for three decades. David and I discussed where to site a tent, improvements in water purification since my day, and whether to bushwhack around a swollen stream crossing. David has the experience and wisdom to meet each hiker at their level of experience. He has a good touch with people. The whole three-day trip was well executed. We would not change a thing.

Friday evening the 21st of April 2023 we arrived at the cottage Little Haven of Yosemite from John and Vivien, the owners of Yosemite Guide Service. They own a tiny house and have it available for rent. The tiny house is about 21m2 in size and built in 2022, so brand new. It is fully equiped and has room for two adults in the lower section of the cabin en maybe one or two adults in the loft section but it is better suitable for children, given the height of it. There is a kitchen, shower and a special eco toilet you realy must see and use. The dog Cedar is a brave companion and the compound and he loves to play with a ball. On Saturday the 22nd of April, we were taken on a guided tour by Brandon. He took us in a car to a large number of great spots in Yosemite Park, The Bridal Fall, Tunnel View, the visitor center and great viewings on Half Dome and El Capitan, pointing to climbers on that rock. Brandon was a great host in supporting us the entire day. We can absolutely advise you to book a tour with Yosemite Guided Service or book a stay at the tiny house. Regards, Ron, Diny & Ellen from The Netherlands

Six of our family members took a private tour of Yosemite Valley with Yosemite Guide Service on June 19, 2023. We planned to return to the park several times during our weeklong stay in the area and wanted an introduction to the park and suggestions for longer hikes. Our Guided Tour provided us with all that and more. The Econ Van we rode in was very roomy and comfortable, with big windows perfect for sightseeing when on the move. Our tour Guide, John, was excellent. He was very friendly and accommodating. We made lots of stops, and John shared fascinating facts and myths about Yosemite at each one. He tailored the tour to the interests and physical ability of the group and ensured we saw as much as possible during our full-day tour, including stops at “hidden gems.” My husband and I riddled John with questions about the flora and fauna of the valley. He was very knowledgeable about the trees, wildflowers, and wildlife. We enjoyed our conversations with him. When we stopped in the meadow under El Capitan for a delicious lunch of turkey sandwiches and kale salad, John provided binoculars so we could view the rock climbers on the cliffside. Even with the binoculars, they looked like ants on the huge granite rock. I highly recommend Yosemite Guide Service for your next adventure.

Truly great family outing. Clean, well lit areas with great sound and visual display on the screen. Temputure comfortable not overly cold. Food is very fresh. You never go wrong with popcorn, soda and sweet treats durring the movie.

This Regal is alright, they do now have tap to pay option (like Google, Samsung & Apple Wallet) as of June 2025. Just giving a warning to people that some of the screening rooms here have the speakers sound a bit too loud. I went to see Sonic 3 here and one of the screening room had the sound too loud then what it should be for me to enjoy the movie. The seats are pretty good except there isn't enough room when passing by people who are already seated.

I posted this 5 years ago and went to watch Superman on 07/27/2025... Other than kids I had to tell to be quiet this would be a good theater, but 5 years later still no recliners... I did get my superman popcorn bucket! You guys realize that your the last theater in the area that doesn't have reclining seats and why advertise cheeto's popcorn when your not going to have it? Losing a lot of business to Brenden and they are horrible now but foods good and the have recliners...

Clean, 90's style multi-screen movie theater with basic seating in need of an update to compete with newer theaters in the area. Enjoyed the movie and the employees were friendly. Parking is a little hectic because of the card room tent. Update 8/20: enjoyed another movie. Seating is still a little cramped. Parking has improved.

Had per purchased tickets and they charged me $3 per ticket additional processing fees to use my prepaid tickets. It was buy 1 get one free day at concessions and they did not offer or even mention the sale. Instead they charged me for both. I was pretty disappointed.

As a huge Coraline fan me and my family were so excited to see the movie in theaters. Staff made our visit so uncomfortable and was being argumentative in-front of my children. Alejandra was rude - when I asked about the Coraline merchandise she rudely stated - “ idk it all sold out I wasn’t working that day so idk .” Hailey Weaver (the manager) wasn’t helpful at all either. She threatened to call the cops on me for not leaving because I requested a refund on my popcorn after finding a strand of hair in it. My first and last visit there to 2323 W main Turlock , Ca .

Great prices on cheese. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere. The cheese pie is spot on. Beautiful scenery. If you need to stop this place will not disappoint. Can even picnic outside or dine inside. They even have ice cream. It's worth the stop. I will be returning.

We joined the make your own ice cream activity on Saturday, and had a great time. The young lady leading the class and tour was kind, helpful and knowledgeable. We stayed for lunch and were very surprised by the high quality and delicious meals we received. We had 3 adult combos and one kids meal and it was $60 total, which was very much a great price considering the quality of the food was SO good. Soft fresh bread, high quality meats, and of course the absolute freshest cheeses.

Stopped in for a quick visit on my way to Tracy. Accidentally left my wallet and doggie water dish under the waterfall on the lovely trail out front. Thank God their employee Debbie happened to walk that path as she was leaving for the day. She took the time to go back inside to turn it in. There were tour busses on site so I was lucky that it didn't fall into the wrong hands. Thanks again Miss Debbie. Always a good variety of cheeses, wines, preserves and so much more. There's a coffee bar/ice cream bar and a short order grill/deli which is worth the wait for anything off the menu. Staff is also great here. Very helpful, attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and resourceful. They really seem to like their jobs and it shows. Huge & clean well stocked bathroom with plenty of stalls, sinks and air freshener 😉. So glad I was able to get my wallet back. I'll be going again real soon.

They even offer ice cream making tours on weekends. Huge variety of cheeses available for purchase as well as all you can eat samples! A world class trip with world class people! Marty, Tom, Adam, Ray and others will bring you memories you will never forget. I have been on the Tuolumne twice with Sierra Mac and can't wait to do more. Steak and Salmon for dinner next to the river and powering through white water are only to be topped by the views of the valley from the Sierra Mac campsites. I can't wait to do this again!
Casey O — Google review
Class 5 experience! We had an amazing one day down the Tuolumne. Jackson was our guide and was great. Our tween/teen kids loved the experience. I thought the lunch provided would be a premade sandwich but was shocked when Jackson and another guide Brandon pulled out fresh ingredients and prepped a full sandwich making station on the side of the river. Would highly recommend this experience. Thank you Marty, Jackson and Brandon. You gave us a wonderful memory we will cherish forever!

Had a great 2-day trip. Food was excellent, guides were all awesome. Shoutout to Jackson, he made our boat fun and comfortable the whole way, while still stressing safety and looking for every opportunity to keep us informed. I'll be back!

Unforgettable Adventure on the Tuolumne River with Sierra Mac! Sierra Mac is a family-owned operation, led by Marty and Tom and it shows. Everything felt personal, intentional and deeply rooted in a love for the river that they share with guests. The Tuolumne is fortunate to have great stewards in the McDonnell Family, preserving the beauty and experience for future generations. This was my second trip with Sierra Mac and I look forward to bringing family and friends for years to come. Our guides - Jordan, Andrew and Jackson - were absolute legends. Not only were they technically excellent and deeply knowledgeable, but they seamlessly became part of our group's vibe. They struck the perfect balance of safety and stoke - reading the river like poetry, sharing stories and laughs, and keeping the energy high and adventure close! These gentlemen demonstrated an admirable commitment to their craft and always kept the guest experience at the forefront. The biggest surprise on your first trip with Sierra Mac will likely be the food; it will blow you away. Restaurant-quality food served in the middle of the wilderness added a layer of comfort (and really comfy chairs!). Big shout-out to Armando who preps all the meals for the guides to cook up on the trip. You may find yourself looking forward to the food as much as the rapids! If you're looking for a real adventure - one that is expertly guided, deeply human and absolutely unforgettable - go with Sierra Mac. You'll come for the rapids, but you'll leave with something much more.

If you are looking for a great whitewater rafting trip in California then Sierra Mac and the Tuolumne are your best choice! We just finished a wonderful 2-day trip on the main Tuolumne and what an experience. We had it all from exciting whitewater to the beauty and serenity of floating through a Wild & Scenic river canyon. A special shout out to our Sierra Mac team including Rae, Bohdi, Brendan, Jackson, Jo, and Armando for keeping everything fun and light while taking care of everyone's needs from A to Z. It was also great to finish off the trip at the Sierra Mac compound with super clean bathrooms and hot showers/dry towels available. Can't wait to level up to the Cherry Creek/Main Tuolumne combo next time and add more exciting whitewater to the trip!

I had an excellent trip with Sierra Mac on the Tuolomne. Flows were at or just above 5000cfs and it was perfect. A very fun but not super scary flow. Bhodi was a great guide and I had zero concerns for my safety the entire time. The Sotar’s Sierra Mac use are awesome. They punched through everything and were very stable but turned on a dime. Are there other outfitters on the Tuolomne? Sure, but you’d be doing yourself a disservice by not booking with Sierra Mac.

So. much. fun. We had a blast with the Sierra Mac crew this past July. Jose was our guide and he was the man. I'd recommend this experience to anyone.

Nature & Parks
Rainbow Pool, located in Stanislaus National Forest, has a rich history as a former stagecoach stop and resort. Today, it's a popular day-use area where visitors can relax and cool off. Many people bring picnics and towels to enjoy the swimming hole, with some choosing to take a refreshing plunge on warm days. The natural water park offers opportunities for all ages to jump into the cool watering hole or explore smaller pools higher up the mountain.
Great spot! I went around 12:30 p.m. on a Wednesday in late August. There was plenty of parking. Bathrooms not really maintained, so I opted for John Muir's toilet. I look forward to visiting again and bringing my husband with me. I had no issues with safety as many people have cautioned in other reviews. Since it was late summer, there wasn't really any rushing water sucking me under the current.
Cindy S — Google review
Scenic, secluded, spot, the water is cold but refreshing. The jump is challenging even if it seems easy from the distance... Great lil spot to spend a day at. To note: there's no beach area to put a towel or sunbathe. The shore is rocky and surrounded by trees.
E V — Google review
Beautiful spot really good for swimming in warmer weather. There is a dangerous waterfall so you have to be careful not letting your kids go out there as somebody passed away about 3 weeks ago from falling off of it. This is one of the nicer spots to go when you're in the Yosemite area. I highly recommend checking this out on your way to Yosemite it's approximately 30 me towards groveland from the entrance of Yosemite Park.
Adam F — Google review
Such a peaceful, beautiful place. The water is crystal clear and refreshing. Great place to take a plunge into the water. There is a big rock you can climb up onto and jump into a very deep pool below. The kids and I loved it. My wife and smaller kids went upstream of the falls to a quiet little pool of water since they were not interested in jumping. Highly recommend this small park!!!!
Steve S — Google review
An amazing spot for swimming and fishing! I went here with a few friends on the way to Yosemite in mid-November, and the water was freezing cold. No swimming for us this trip, but we did get some great pictures and saw the beautiful tree leaves changing colors! What an amazing time, especially in summer (have been swimming there before)
Dennis G — Google review
Absolutely beautiful setting and great place for kids to swim, but it gets crowded fast. Lots of cliff jumpers too, so keep the littles close.
Shelly S — Google review
This is an absolutely gorgeous swimming hole and we had a wonderful time, but be aware of your surroundings. People have died from jumping off rocks/slipping from the top of the waterfall. The pool is deep, but there are still large boulders close to the edge. If you’re going to jump, check the water below first so you can know a safe place to jump into. And do not go to the top of the waterfall, the rocks are extremely slippery. Also don’t leave any food out because the squirrels will eat it😅

Castle Air Museum

Museum
Specialty Museums
The Castle Air Museum is an outdoor facility that showcases over 40 restored military aircraft from the WWII and Cold War eras, including the Grumman US-2A Tracker and B-25 Mitchell medium-range. While the museum continues to acquire more aircraft, many of them require restoration or proper indoor storage. The indoor portion of the museum requires improvement in terms of display organization and professional presentation.
What an awesome experience it was to see this incredible aircraft collection. By far the best collection I’ve ever seen. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They seem to really enjoy working here and live the aircraft. Such a cool part of history. They have a nice big parking lot and bathrooms. You can bring your dog too!
Casey M — Google review
Amazing location if you like military planes and war history ! The guides were really great and told us some incredible stories about those planes. The restaurant is very tiny but the folks were super nice and the burger excellent :-) Parking was easy and plenty !
Fabrice M — Google review
Wow this air museum is an AMAZING hidden gem! The grounds are very expansive as they need to be because of both the size of the collection AND the sizes of some of the war machines in the collection, including a Boeing B-52! I never thought I would be standing next to (under!) one of those classic beasts, what a great experience!. My only wish was that the plane info (even the QR code link) included details on the powerplants (make and model), which they did not. The SR-71 did but I did not see this on any of the other planes. I'm a former Pratt & Whitney military engines employee from the 1980's and I wanted to see that info too per plane.
Scott D — Google review
If you like military planes then you will e this museum. I’ve been here a few times and always enjoy the trip when I visit. They also have an open cockpit day twice a year where you can get to step into the plane - not all of them but several of them. Definitely worth a visit if aviation is your thing.
Kent B — Google review
I went to this museum with my wife and son and we should not get disappointed. They have a lot of old airplanes out there, most of them are military ones. They even have Russian MiGs. One of our favorite planes though was the Blue Eagle Boeing F/A-18 Super Horner. Please bear in mind that the museum is in the open and the sun can get very hot here. Also, if you want to the former Airforce One from inside, you have to come on the weekend and purchase an extra ticket for it.
Stefan H — Google review
Fun for all ages. You could easily spend half a day seeing all the planes and touring a retired Presidential Transport. Admission for adults $25.00, Seniors $20.00, and children 6-17 $15.00. To see the VC-9 Presidential Transport, it’s an additional $10.00 per person. Parking is free. Castle Air is located between San Francisco and Yosemite National Park. If you are an aviation fan, this stop is a must. The staff and volunteers were all top notch. If you want to tour the presidential plane, which I highly recommend, purchase your tickets in the gift shop. You are allowed to take as many videos and photos of the outside. No interior photos are allowed. You are encouraged to ask any questions along the tour. The inside of the presidential plane is air conditioned. Pack water or you can purchase water and snacks in the gift shop. There is also a coffee shop inside. Bring your walking shoes and be ready to be wowed. 10/10! Fun for the whole family
Rachel D — Google review
Enjoyed seeing the aircraft on display as a nice diversity of products. No access to cockpits as only done on special days. Paid the extra $10 to see the presidential aircraft as well, but felt the $30 per person price a bit steep. Very hot touring the planes with little to no shade. If you’re not a plane nut this may not be for you. Presidential plane tour was ok, but nothing special. Enthusiastic volunteers tell a very good story #stevensleavin
Steve M — Google review
Great collection of military aircraft including a Convair B-36 Peacemaker, one-of-four surviving planes, and an SR-71 Blackbird. QR codes at each plane offer further information and benches under wings and in the shade offer a quick rest stop.

We're glad we made time to visit this wildlife refuge. There's a lot to see even if it's not wintertime yet. How much more when the land will be flooded of water for the other waterfowls? Can't wait to see more... We went during the weekend and did the auto tour. We saw an elk, blue herons and great egrets everywhere. We saw a bunch of hawk, small little birds, deer, a skunk, a jack rabbit, ground squirrels, and a lot more. The auto drive was worth it. We took our time since there was no other vehicles behind us and just enjoyed the natural world. We loved watching the deer wandering around and different kinds of birds spreading their wings freely. It was very relaxing. We highly recommend this refuge to anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature. ♡ PS: There were a lot of mosquitoes when we're there. Make sure to use some mosquito repellent or something that will prevent the mosquitoes from biting your skin.

Was excited to go see this Wildlife Refuge for a long time. I got to opportunity to visit today with my niece's 3rd grade class. Madelyn and her team provided a rich history and insight of the refuge.

We were pleasantly surprised that there were no other visitors there. We walked through the visitor's center, which.was very informative. We later drove around the elk enclosure and saw (and heard) several bull elk as well as cows in the harem.

I really loved my visit here. I went in early August which is not really the prime season so I practically had the whole place to myself. The exibits at the visitor center are informative, well done and interesting to look at. The two people working there were both friendly and helpful and set me in the direction of the car tours. I know there are a few different access points. The one I visited was the main entrance with auto tours, Tule Elk and Waterfowl. In the summer all of the marshes and wetlands are drained, but I did find water on the Waterfowl tour by taking a spur off the Chester Marsh trail. There's much more water off of the Tule Elk route and lots of little parking areas for fishing access and nice little spots to sit by the river. If you take any of the car tours, it's great to be prepared to spend some time. It was so quiet I could have stopped anywhere I wanted for an hour or two and had a picnic. I really enjoyed the half day I spent, and no charge for any of it. Next time I go I'll bring enough food and water to make a whole day of it. So peaceful.

Nice diversion on the drive from SoCal to the Bay No merch Trails were OK but not great Probably would have been better in another season not Aug

It's a great place to visit, hardly anybody there. Roads are well maintained. Lots of birds. It was a fun challenge to try and find birds in the big trees like hawks and owls. The drive around the Tule Elk compound was fun. The Elk know you're looking at them and they stare back at you, but they keep their distance. I would go back again, there's so much to see.
Gary L — Google review
Great place for a quick visit, especially if you like seeing and experiencing native wildlife. It is free to enter and park, and there is a nice visitor center that has an impressive display of local birds, as well as information on the Tule Elk, and several brochures you can take on the go. The staff was helpful, and they pointed us in the direction of a picnic table for our lunch we brought. We hiked the 0.8 mile trail near the visitor center and were fascinated with the bird activity, especially along the boardwalk that extends out into the marsh. We also did the auto tour of the Tule Elk enclosure and were able to see this amazing species native to California and once thought extinct. We easily spent 2 hours here, and will most likely return sometime to take the birding auto tour. We went in the spring, and it was beautiful and green. But being in the Central Valley, I imagine it can get hot in the summers. We encountered some mosquitoes on our hike, but only in one section. And keep in mind that the auto tour roads are dirt - well maintained, flat, free of obstacles, but obviously a little dusty.

This is place is amazing! A hidden gem in Merced. They have a cool country chic feeling with Lord of home decor and goodies for sale. But the best part is the free print zoo outside. The owner is super friendly and accommodating. We even had my daughter's first birthday party there and every one loved it!

We really enjoyed being able to sit at a table outside in the shade with the farm animals. We came just as it opened, able to relax before crowds. There was some lovely products inside but a bit pricey.

This is an adorable place! I thought it was going to be just another fruit stand, but it is so much more. It has a very nice clean bathroom area (with signs indicating that the bathroom is for customers only). There is a beautiful backyard with picnic tables and free range chickens wandering around. There is also indoor seating with a deli, ice cream booth, coffee station, and souvenir shopping throughout. All of this is in addition to the local fruits, nuts, and jams that you would expect from a fruit stand. The staff was very friendly!

Definitely a cute and sweet place to explore! I drop by this tiny shop every time I visit Yosemite, and they are constantly improving the inside. They sell local farm produce as well as gifts and souvenirs, and they even have a small zoo in the backyard (chicken, rabbits, goats, pigs, peacocks, emus, and so on). Also a few parrots at the entrance. Always feel the passion and love for life here.

Nice local spot with live animals in back to hang out and enjoy a sandwich and pick up some garden decorations. Birds in front are cool and chatty. Nice patio in back when cool breeze is going and chickens are friendly

Cute place to stop on HWY 140. Fruit, nuts, ice cream, sandwiches, decor, knick knacks, exotic birds, goats, chickens, a cow, a donkey, and picnic tables. My son and his friends had a blast here, thank you!

Very nice petting soon. They have an ice cream shop and a cafe . They sell dried fruit and nuts. Good customer service. The only reason I only give it 3 stars is because I wanted to buy some stuff and some items seem to be expired by years .

Super cute & unique place to browse around. There are plenty of animals to look at. There were 2 emus, chickens, bunnies, a goat, a cow, some pigeons, a pot bellied pig, a cat, some parrots and a few different birds. My kids all enjoyed their time there.

Merced National Wildlife Refuge

Wildlife refuge
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
10.2-acre wetlands & grasslands known as a legendary wintering habitat for waterfowl & shorebirds.
This place is amazing particular when the snow geese and sandhill cranes are migrating to it usually between December and February. Many types of birds can be seen here. Rabbits and coyotes can also be spotted roaming the area. The five mile auto tour dirt road is in good shape so traveling through the reserve. The best time for birding and scenery is usually around sunrise and sunset (unless it is covered by fog). I find that first going to the San Luis Wildlife Refuge which is about a half hour away is beneficial as they have a nice fish and game visitors center and a ranger stationed there to answer questions. It’s not common to see a ranger at the Merced refuge unless you have a tour scheduled.
Doug H — Google review
Love this spot! Great halfway point accross the valley bring a picnic and enjoying easy drive through bird watching. You can check off a bunch of new species on your life list here during migration season. Even in the off season there are some birds, busy dragonflies and wildlife hopping through here. Has restrooms, bird blinds, short hikes to stretch your legs. Bring your binoculars or your spotting scope.
Carol M — Google review
Magical at sunset. The 5 mile drive around the estuary is worth the trek out. Bring bug spray. So many birds to see. Take your time to take in the sights. We arrived late in the day so didn’t have enough time to hike the trails but that leaves us something new to do next time. Watch for owls on the farm side just past the last viewpoint parking lot. They are huge!
Suzi H — Google review
A surprising location amid farm fields in the Central Valley is this large wetland you can drive around. The signage at the entry stop is helpful and there is a deck to walk out on with a handy free telescope. At this point you get a sense of the wetlands and we saw some cranes in the distance. To explore more you commit to a 5 miles one way loop, max speed 25 (more like 10-15) and dusty in October. You stay in your car except for designated stops.
Jeff M — Google review
Peaceful spot to view thousands of geese, sandhill cranes, and small waterfowl in winter, along with random sightings of hawks, foxes, and such. What to expect: a long, unpaved auto loop around wetlands with some close-up views of birds (some just a few feet away), scattered educational signage along the route, and occasional opportunities to get out of the car to take photos from land or pier. It is wonderfully noisy with goose calls and crane trills. Bring/wear mosquito repellent if you plan to get out of your car, especially around sunset, when the cranes return from their day's adventure. Enjoy.
Belinda B — Google review
Surprised at the foot traffic here, even on a weekend. There is a lot to see along the trails for walking and driving. We were able to identify several large predators, including multiple Great Horned Owls. Tons of waterbirds throughout the area. Driving tour was easy for all types of cars, when dry.
Scott E — Google review
Beautiful place. Visit here on sunset hours, you won't regret it. This is like a drive-thru appreciation of mother nature and wildlife. There are plenty of rest areas if you want to stop and park your car to take pictures. I would just be mindful of incoming cars. A gem here in Merced County. There is a restroom available near the entrance.
Anon K — Google review
A bird lover and photographer’s heaven. There’s a car only loop that generally takes us about an hour to drive around oohing and aahing at the beautiful scenery, birds, or sunrise/sunset. Sometimes we drive through multiple times to try to see more. The diversity changes depending on the time of year you go. We’ve seen egrets, many ducks, plovers, grebes, kestrels, hawks, Sandhill cranes, geese, and many more. There are definitely great horned owls living nearby.

A great stop if you’re visiting the area. The staff here is very helpful and genuinely welcoming, and they had loads of information about local history, scenic drives, museums, hikes, and hidden spots I wouldn’t have found on my own. Brochures, maps, recommendations — everything you need to explore Mariposa and the surrounding foothills. A quick stop that makes a big difference in planning your visit.
Kytka — Google review
The Mariposa County Visitor Center and Chamber of Commerce is located along Hwy 140 near the northwest end of the town. Opening hours are 8am to 5pm daily. This is a good place for information related to the historic attractions of the small town of Mariposa as well as events that might be taking place in the town. You can pick up a free map of the Old Town with location of the historic places to visit here at the Visitor Centre. We found staff here helpful in describing hikes in the are as well. They recommended the Merced River hike to see wildflowers that were starting to appear at the end of April. This ended up being a good recommendation. You can pick up information and maps for Yosemite National Park at this visitor centre as well. Further, you'll find a gift shop room with souvenir and related items for those interested. Parking in front is limited to probably 6-8 vehicles at a time. There was nobody else there when we stopped by in the late morning so this will probably not be an issue for most who want to pass by.

Stopped in after a long slog up from Monterey hoping to get a look at a sequoia before I croak. Phil, the nice man behind the desk, was incredibly helpful and efficient. Had all my options figured out in no time. *Really* helped with our continued travel decisions. Oh, and I've found the quote that I had wanted to share with him. "People who confuse entomology and etymology bug me in ways I can't put into words.” :-)

Sho at the information center was immensely helpful when I arrived at the visitor center. Even though it was less than 20 minutes to closing, he still took his time to provide me all of the necessary materials for Yosemite and loads of excellent advice. He really took the time to go above and beyond and I appreciate that!

My husband and I were on our honeymoon driving up the California coast. We had a few days unplanned and made our way toward Yosemite, without knowing where we would stay. We stopped in the visitor's center, admittedly to use a restroom, and found the absolute most helpful and friendly people working there. They went out of their way to help us find a place to camp near the Mariposa Grove, where we wanted to visit the next day. They were very informative about the area, places to see, and how to see them. We were very happy with the cute little campground we stayed at for $23, it was exactly what we needed for the night. I hope they get to see this review, because they really made our day!

The ladies were helpful. We went to the mining and mineral exhibit they suggested a must for any Rock hound. They had covered up the handicap parking space with a cigarette ash tray. I am handicap it was difficult walking down the steep hill. I am happy to say they moved the ash tray right away and there is now space, way to go ladies.

The hours on the website states open until 6:00 pm . I arrived at 5:00 pm to get information, purchase maps and souvenirs if mariposa and Yosemite. As I walked through the door, the gentleman working the front desk said he was closing in 45 seconds and was locking the door. I asked for a map and he slammed the Yosemite guide paper on the desk and said here it is. He was very rude. Don’t post you are open until 6, then close at 5:00 but more importantly greet your tourists with more respect.

Located in the historic county courthouse in downtown Mariposa, the Mariposa Museum & History Center offers a fascinating journey through the history of Mariposa County. The museum features diverse exhibits on topics such as the Gold Rush, Native American culture, and the evolution of Yosemite National Park. Visitors can explore a well-curated Gold Rush exhibit showcasing various artifacts from that era, including mining equipment and personal belongings. Additionally, there are displays on local Native American history and California's mining methods.
Very interesting place to visit. It is well put together and is funded by donations and worked by volunteers. We only had one hour but could have spent much more time there if you read everything at each exhibit.

If you want to learn about the gold rush, this is the place. They have great displays, so much information and history. You can also learn about the native tribes, see their displays and even learn their language. They have a neat little store and clean restrooms. You pay $10 donation per person.

We were sent here for a local and I am incredibly happy they sent us here! So much information but easily digestible information. If you love history or just like looking at cool antiques this is the place for you. Spent multiple hours here engulfed in the information and there is something interesting for everyone. Spent an hour of so talking to some of the workers who gave us insight on the local authors of a few books in the shop area. Excited to learn more about the history of the area and would definitely recommend this as a stop in Mariposa!

WOW! What a museum. This place blew me away from the moment I walked in. The exhibits inside are packed with authentic Gold Rush artifacts, beautifully written panels, and stories that make Mariposa’s past feel alive. You can move from mining equipment to pioneer household items to early photographs and actually understand how people lived, worked, and survived here. The grounds are just as impressive — old machinery, restored buildings, and outdoor displays that give you a real sense of Mariposa’s early industry and daily life. It’s one of those museums where you keep thinking, “I had no idea this much history happened here.” The gift shop is fantastic, with a great selection of books, souvenirs, and locally made items. And the staff? Wonderful. Friendly, welcoming, and truly knowledgeable. They know their history and clearly love sharing it. If you want to learn the real story of the Sierra foothills, this museum is an absolute must. Five stars doesn’t feel like enough.

Wow! What an informative gem! We spent WAY more time here than we planned on, but wete mesmerized with all the crazy cool gold mining information and old displays! From Native Tribes of the area, to the mining equipment and information(including letters from folks during that era) this place was amazing! The workers were sweet too! Loved the old doctor equipment displays and the judge and jury info from that era. (which was unfortunately very sad to think people of different races were treated the way they were)The way the displays were set up you could imagine yourself in an old kitchen during the goldmine era and even imagine what it was like to dress! This is a must stop! And it's big!!

A great museum. Staff was informative and great with our kid. There was a scavenger hunt which we completed. Lots of local history to learn. I was glad to see the section on Joaquin Murrietta and surprised to see a 6ft long 2 person chainsaw (I have my grandfather's from when he was a lumberjack). Would recommend.

UPDATE: I went back about a year later - definitely take a private tour!!!! It was amazing to have someone share all the additional information. So worth it! I highly highly highly recommend.

The Mariposa Museum & History Center is a great place to learn about the history of the Mariposa County area. The museum is located in the historic county courthouse, and it is home to a variety of exhibits on the Gold Rush, Native American culture, and the development of Yosemite National Park. The museum's Gold Rush exhibit is particularly well-done. It features a variety of artifacts, including mining equipment, clothing, and personal belongings from the era. The exhibit also tells the stories of the miners who came to Mariposa County in search of gold. The museum also has a good exhibit on Native American culture. This exhibit features artifacts from the Miwok, Mono, and Paiute tribes, who were the original inhabitants of the Mariposa County area. The exhibit also tells the story of the Native Americans' interactions with the miners and settlers. The museum's Yosemite National Park exhibit is also worth seeing. An incredible collection of gemstones, minerals, and California gold rush history! The displays are beautifully arranged and include all kinds of fascinating specimens—from sparkling quartz and rare gems to impressive gold nuggets and mining relics. I originally went for the gold history, but ended up just as captivated by the wide variety of rocks and minerals from around the world. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer questions and share local stories. The only disappointment was that photography isn’t allowed inside, which made it hard to capture and share the experience with my elderly father who resides in Europe. However, they do offer an interactive online site, which is a great way to explore more about their exhibits if you cannot visit - just know how to use a computer.

Wonderful little museum showcasing the history of California mining and abundance of mineral deposits of the state. $4 in November 2023 is well worth this quick stop to stretch your legs and expand your brain. Kids under 12 go in for free. Located within the Mariposa Fairegrounds, there is ample parking right outside the main gate. There are bathrooms inside and outside the museum. NO photography allowed. The mineral collection here is quite impressive and includes some donated items from around the globe. The highlight comes from a gold rush Era find. A GORGEOUS looking gold nugget is kept in their vault. It was never smelted due to its beautiful shape. You can also explore a 175 ft long replica of a mineshaft. It is dark, damp, and a bit musky in there, so don't go if you suffer from claustrophobia. It does not get to a point where you need to duck or squeeze through. I am 5'10 and had no issues.

First time to Pheasant Run Golf club yesterday with my fiance and had a blast! I had no idea that they had those thin motorbikes as golf carts! Only 25 bucks to use one and it was totally worth the upgrade, I've been playing golf for 32 years and never had that much fun! Stop by the Sand Trap bar and grill afterwards, and grabbed a delicious pizza. I couldn't believe how thick it was and the size for the price.... only 15 bucks for a specialty, get out of here! Drinks were inexpensive compared to Fresno pricing, we will be back for sure, it is worth the drive!

Terrible round today. Had us start on the back 9 which is fine. But they were constantly rushing us because they managed their tee times poorly for their men’s league tournament which they did not notify me at the time of booking my tee time. At one point asked us to play scramble to because we were to slow and one hole later we got stuck behind a 5some and then a 6 some. Overall bad experience been before but this is probably my last time going.

This course is a little bit of a diamond in the rough. Being located in Chowchilla one month expect it to be hot. We arrived at about 9 AM and the weather was perfect. The course is well maintained. Unfortunately, when we arrived, the green had just been plugged about a week prior and so made the putting surfaces a little more challenging.

In early July 2024, we spent one night at the RV park and made a tee time reservation to play early on Thursday morning. It wasn't very busy that day, and it was easy to walk from the RV to the golf course. Rosendo, who was at the pro counter, was a true gentleman. The course is very challenging and well-maintained. I will definitely come back again since it's on our route along the 99 Freeway to various destinations. Don't hesitate to visit this place and take advantage of the voucher when you stay at the RV park.

We enjoyed visiting the casino and having a light breakfast at the bakery. Beautiful location with plenty of slots available. We plan on staying here next time instead of getting a room in Clovis or Fresno. Just a few dollars more gets you a much more enjoyable setting and quality of room. Everyone was kind and helpful whenever we had questions on membership or locating a particular slot machine. Will definitely return on our next trip to the Fresno area.

The buffet food was meh. Over priced!! Mainly went there for the crab legs and prime rib. Crab legs were salty as hell, frozen and was sad. Prime rib was decent. . The desserts were dry. Everything from the soups to the meat dishes were either salty or dry. Only thing that wasn't wrong was the salad bar. I would not eat there again!

Had a great time here at Chukchansi. We stayed one night and our room was very nice. They offered me some type of first responders discount so don't forget to ask about it. Gambling was good but unfortunately didn't win anything this time. Adult beverage refreshments were good and priced right. We had the breakfast buffet in the morning before heading home and we were not disappointed. Great food and quality. Definitely recommend stopping by. We will be back soon. I unfortunately didn't have a chance to check out the pool area... Hopefully next time.

I hit Chukchansi for the first time and ended up winning $165 on blackjack — not bad for a first-timer! The dealers were friendly and patient, especially with new players. The table vibe was chill, and I never felt rushed or out of place. The casino floor is clean and lively, and you can tell the place runs well. Drinks came around quick, and the staff actually seemed to care about the players having a good time, not just pushing bets. Overall, great experience — the win made it even sweeter, but even without that, I’d come back for the atmosphere and the tables alone. Definitely one of the better casino spots near Fresno if you want to have fun without driving all the way to Vegas.

Desk Clerk was very nice and helpful. Security is quite extreme which can be a good thing or a bad thing. Had to show our ID every time we went to our room. This included every person going to the room. Your name had to be listed as one of the people in the room. The room was very nice and comfortable. The casino was nice. One of the gentlemen working the reward desk was not very pleasant. He seemed cranky and would not smile. Overall it was a great experience.

Came back on Saturday to see my fav bartender. He was super busy so decided to try a new one! Was not what I expected. Drinks were Mediocre, conversation was blatantly disrespectful. Not sure of his name but he is a tall, slim, white guy. Overheard him talking trash with another bartender and customers of another coworker, who is either gay or trans. Either way, that kind of talk is alarming. Doesn’t seem like a safe environment for lgbt+ people. Needless to say, we won’t be back. I won a few hundred bucks which was cool. Had a great time till my partner and I sat at the bar. They need to look into their staff. I tried to talk to someone about the situation but no one came. It’s 2025 time to be accepting of all people or get a job where you don’t work with diversity. Shame on chuckchansi for allowing this.

This is prob my favorite winery in is all place Madera calif. They have the best moscato at 15% in orange and black that is so very delicious. I moved out of state and I mail order it here normally with paying 1cent when they run their specials. Wish I lived close as going to their wine tasting room was always a great time.

We all really loved our time wine tasting there. Very knowledgeable of their products and between the 3 of us we bought bottles.

Nice selection of approachable dessert and sweeter wines. Diana was wonderful about explaining the nuances of each wine and Quady's style of wine making. Lovely ports as well!

OH MY GOSH!!! These wines are right up my Alley!!! If you love sweet wines, you will LOVE these dessert or ANYTIME Wines/Moscatos! From light and velvety Ports to rich and spicy Moscatos. I was blown away with this small operation winery and their love and passion for their craft. The woman that helped us through our Quady Wine tasting also gave us a quick tour of the property. They were bottling their most popular Moscato. I felt very lucky to be following her around and hearing the stories and the history of this gem of a Winery. Mind you, it is probably much too out of the way to make a 'special' trip here, but if you are in the area or going to be going to Yosemite or leaving Yosemite and headed this way, SWING BY! The tasting was free. We tried two Wines, two Moscatos, and a Port. She led us through some of the information, tastes, flavors, aging process etc. about each selection of wine which enhanced the experience. I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed it! The tasting and tour was quick, but the impression this place has made, were ever-lasting. Definitely one of my favorite Winery's. We bought two Moscatos and one Wine. I wanted the Port, but we will probably make a run to the local liquor shop to get that after we exhaust these 3 bottles. We hope you try this place and enjoy it, too!

Went for wine tasting, the staff was welcoming and made it a fun experience. They share the history of the winery and wine details. Surprised to find out they have other things besides moscato, especially the vermouth.

So my wife is from Maryland and one of the state stores sells this brand and she is absolutely in love with the Electra red and also our guests enjoy it.. Wish we were closer to your winery, but for now, we either take the 2 hour road trip or see if online order is an option. Thank you for this classic recipe that taste delicious.

I absolutely love the wine at Quady Winery! My recent wine tasting experience there was nothing short of amazing. Diana, our server, was fantastic professional, sweet, and incredibly attentive. I can't recommend this place enough to all my family and friends. If you're looking for a great wine tasting experience, Quady Winery is the place to go!

Bustling spot for gambling & slot machines plus lodging & a wide variety of on-site dining options.
This was our first time visiting here and By far I nor my husband has ever been treated so kindly. We enjoyed a few hours turned to an over night stay. Got a free room and our concierge was so helpful texting back immediately thank you Bryan! And all the staff and the room was amazing with a balcony will definitely revisit!

Normally stay in Fresno and closer to family when visiting the area but decided on something different. First, if you are told all rooms have a fridge, know that is absolutely not true. I never asked for one because I was under the impression all rooms were equipped with them. Pretty steep nightly rate for a hotel with very little amenities and rooms with no views. This wouldn't have been a problem if advertising was at least accurate. We enjoy live music and cheap blackjack. We will spend money on lots of drinks and hours of blackjack with a low minimum. Nobody could give any info on the supposed live music in the evening (i.e. genre, how long, etc(. The dragon's den is where you go for cheap blackjack...meaning just don't play because they weren't open and there are no hours listed in person or on the website. Want a drink? Prices are reasonable but they are not as advertised. Pic of menu to determine how much a Tito's bloody Mary is but unless you guess or have been here to won't know.

I FIRST time bringing my Mom, we enjoyed this Casino, Great and wonderful Staff, very courteous and Friendly. We were Welcomed into New Building and inside as well Outside...Looked Good, very Clean and spacious. Wonderful dining spot who served these wonderful dishes we asked for. It was worth driving from Gilroy 2 1/2+++ hrs and experiencing a Great time, my Mother and will sure come back. Thank you Table Mountains.
Connie L — Google review
Haven't been there for couple years but boy has it changed. Looks pretty nice with new casino and parking. But the outside looks of the building don't make me feel like I'm going into a casino. More like a huge federal government building. Went Friday afternoon and it wasn't crowded nor did I smell any cigarette smoke. Huge inside and looks more or less like a typical casino. Traffic inside was low and machines were plentiful and pretty. However we dropped about 650.00 and only won about 40.00 which of course went right back into the machines. I didn't like it. Doesn't seem like machines are hitting any jackpots or decent winnings. Felt like machines were programmed to just take your money and not pay out. Maybe it's that way so they can pay off the 55 million it cost to build. Anyways, I won't we won't be going back. Hitachi casino in Lemoore was much more fun and generous. There's potential at Table Mountain to become a great casino but if they are going to be stingy. It won't last.

Awful experience! I was there at 2am, went to the bathroom and set my stuff on the floor since there was no where else to set my soda and bag. Walked out of the stall and a custodial woman started berating me saying I was drinking alcohol past curfew. I asked her to show me said alcohol and she couldn’t point it out just that she saw it while I was in the stall… MEANING SHE LOOKED UNDER MY STALL WHILE I WAS PEEING. I’m so disgusted and feel so violated. She contacted security even after I proved her wrong showing no alcohol in the stall or trash. Security followed me out saying they were going to give me a DUI, without a field test or breathalyzer? They also refused to tell me their names or the custodial woman who reported me. I’m so disgusted someone was watching me use the bathroom. DO NOT GO HERE OR USE THE BATHROOM UNLESS YOU WANT TO HE WATCHED WHILE YOU DEFACATE.

Casino overall was very nice. Free valet parking with tip of course. Not the largest Casino however a good selection of most of the popular slots. Went on a Saturday didn't wait for any machines, they offer free beverages with tip of course. When I say beverages that includes alcohol, soda, and water a definite plus. The drive to the Casino was about 20 plus minute drive once you turn from the highway. I definitely questioned a few times if I was going the right way and finally found it. Won a little money had a good time.

Nestled in North Fresno, the Woodward Park Regional Library is a vibrant community hub that redefines what a library can be. With its modern design and abundant natural light, this spacious facility offers more than just books; it’s an inviting space for everyone. Visitors can enjoy a large patio area, dedicated children's section, and access to numerous computers along with fax and copy services.
Great place: today I was able to listen to live Irish group. I was able to browse many magazines. I am still learning the Libby app though, I can't seem to get the hang of it

This library is nice and big! Lots of places to study and read. They have a wide variety of books and genres. The only downside in my opinion is the NOISE LEVEL. People come in and don’t even try to whisper and the librarians don’t say anything. I guess the library is the kick it spot for some people, but It’s quite rude, honestly. There are private rooms available to rent. I feel as though if a group comes in and they know they are going to talk amongst themselves then they should rent a room to separate themselves from the work tables and desks. There are rooms to study in, but most of the time they’re full. I would like to see more tables in there. In addition, the quiet room is significantly colder than the rest of the library. I would give this location 5 stars if they had some rules of order in place in terms of noise.

This is the best place in the world. Whoever created a display about lead poisoning is genius. I didn’t know the cups my kids got from their great grandparents had so much lead in them! I’m sure whoever created this display has helped soooo many other kids as well. The library literally gives free life changing advice and knowledge.

So grateful to live near this branch of the Fresno libraries! The staff are always friendly and will go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for. They have wonderful programs each week/month for kids, teens, and adults. Lots of resources beyond books and media both in the library and online. They have study rooms you can reserve for free and you can make copies and print for a nominal fee. I also really appreciate that they are a collection location to recycle batteries and lightbulbs. They even have a section of used books for sale year round with the proceeds benefiting our excellent library system. So whether you’re 3 or 93, or anywhere in between this is a great library for you!
Amanda S — Google review
Library staff are always having loud conversations with each other. People come in as if they don’t know it’s supposed to be quiet. Kids running around, screaming in the children’s section. They have a “quiet room” that always has people in it so it’s not even an option most of the time. Literally one of the most noisiest libraries I have ever been to. Thought I could come by since I live in the neighborhood and just get some studying in but they obviously don’t control the noise level.

Located in North Fresno, on Perrin ave. Woodward Park Regional Library is very big, clean, and has an arsenal of information and equipment for public use. Open Monday-Thursday 9am-9pm Friday&Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 12:00pm-5pm. There is a very spacious patio as well as a kids section. Plenty of computers and fax/copy machines. Free WiFi is also offered. This location also offers plenty of free classes such as guitar lessons, tai-chi, yoga and mediation as well as story time for children. This library is more of a learning and education institution rather than your average library. Why spend $50,000 on an education that u can get for free??

Nestled beneath the surface of Fresno, California, the Forestiere Underground Gardens is a captivating destination that invites visitors to explore its intricate network of subterranean gardens, courtyards, and grottoes. This extraordinary site was brought to life by Baldassare Forestiere, a Sicilian immigrant who dedicated four decades to hand-carving this unique complex inspired by the ancient catacombs he admired in his homeland.
Was looking for a place to stop on the way from Pinnacles to Yosemite and picked this a little at random from the map not expecting much. I thought it would be just a quirky thing that would be entertaining for five minutes but it far exceeded that. The story shared over the course of the tour is really incredible and inspiring. Loved it!

Amazing! We were looking for something to do as we transition from Sequoia National Park to Yosemite and this was perfect. It’s an amazing place, with a great story of resilience. You’ll love it! Stopped at Max’s Bistro and Bar for lunch after to have an incredible Italian meal to celebrate Baldasare Forestiere heritage and creation! This was an unexpected highlight of our trip to CA.

We took our 8-year-old son and granddaughter to the Forestiere Underground Gardens, and it was such a fascinating experience! It truly feels like stepping back in time. The craftsmanship and creativity are unbelievable — it’s amazing what one person with a vision and determination can accomplish. Even though it was a hot day, it was much cooler underground, which made the tour even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for families — interesting, educational, and unlike anything else!

My last visit was in 1981 and our tour on October 23, 2025 was very enjoyable. So fascinating to see and learn about. We purchased a few limes and pomegranates at the gift shop. Tour lasted an hour and was extremely informative. Parking was alongside near the hotel. Will definitely return again in the future.

I am so happy I went on this tour on a quick layover! An amazing story and history, and any photos don't do it justice with how cool and absolutely beautiful this space is. Loved Kai as our tour guide, all of the staff were great, very cute gift shop. If you are going to ride share here, be aware that there is construction out front and you are better off getting dropped off on the side street so you don't have to do a u turn like us!

This was my first time touring the garden. After living many decades in Fresno and The Central Valley combined I don’t know why I have never taken the time to tour this beautiful and interesting place. It is certainly a gem. The staff was professional yet friendly. They welcomed us as soon as we walked in the door. The tour started promptly at the reservation time. Our tour guide was Morgan. She has a friendly voice yet projection was adequate; therefore, she was easy to understand. She allowed an appropriate time to look without being rushed, yet not too long where we were standing around staring at each other. The story is amazing and she never portrayed not knowing the facts. She easily answered the questions the group had. I would definitely go back again and refer others. I can’t wait to share this place with my family and friends and I hope I am lucky enough to have Morgan again as my tour guide.

What a great experience! We love touring gardens and totally get into the history. This is a must see if you’re ever in Fresno. They do take reservations, we lucked out and they had room for us! Our guide Lashika was absolutely amazing- if you can, request her!

I've driven by for about a year thinking I wanted to make time to visit. We'll, I finally did and wish I hadn't waited so long. This place is unbelievably unique. Fresno Chaffee Zoo, located in Roeding Park, offers an exciting wildlife experience with various activities and exhibits. The 13-acre African Adventure allows visitors to observe lions and elephants in naturalistic enclosures. The zoo also provides behind-the-scenes encounters where guests can learn about animal care and even participate in training sessions with seals and sea lions.
My family and I vote this as the best zoo we've visited and we've been to a few, both big and small. We'd go as far as to say that we would even become members if we didn't live so far away as my kids are ready to return. My kids absolutely enjoyed the sting rays, however, there is an additional cost of $5 for non-members, but it was totally worth it! There also was an additional cost for the butterfly/"big bug" exhibit, as well as to feed the jiraffs. We felt we got our money's worth for these additional costs. After all, the money does help further support the zoo. We also considered the fact, that we paid a much higher admission to zoos such as the San Diego zoo and San Diego wild animal Park, and the total cost of our admission at this zoo with the extra costs was still much less. In our opinion, this zoo was way better than either of those zoos I previously mentioned. We visited on a Sunday and could easily view all the exhibits without big crowds. The exhibits were nice, especially the Kingdom of Asia. I highly recommend this zoo to everyone, whether you are a local resident or just passing through, like my family and I. We definitely would return if we visited the area again.

Had a really great time checking out the animals at the zoo. Been quite a few years since I was last here, but it definitely has a cool vibe. Not too hot for an August day but definitely has plenty of shade for when it did start warming up. Definitely recommend checking out the zoo is you're nearby.

I love coming here, the lion cubs a growing so fast! The food here is good, I enjoy the chicken stips at the African Safari Restaurant. Also the cleanest restrooms are located here at the African side. I made sure to get the Zoo souvenir cup for my fountain drink. Refills for the life of the cup are only $1! Yes just $1 for a 32oz refill! I really enjoy the animal chats, during which you can get up close to their training time! My favorite ones are the tiger and the sea lion talks! This is great for the whole family! Keep I mind if you have a EBT Card and can show a valid government ID that matches the name on the EBT Card you and 4 others can get in for just $5 each every Wensday! This can be a great savings for some! Please go and support our local zoo!

Great little zoo! You can feed the Giraffes, pet the sting rays, hang out with the butterflies, and see a lot of great animals! The staff are knowledgeable and friendly! The food at the Kopje spot wasn't very good though, expensive for cold and dry food. We had a great time and the weather was perfect!
Katie R — Google review
This zoo was great! Good value and the atmosphere was great. The close proximity to some of the animals was outstanding as you weren't straining to look over a barrier to catch a glimpse of an animal. There was a good variety of animals and some I'd never even heard of before. There was some construction going on so we didn't get to see everything but it was still worth the price of admission. The staff we talked to were all very helpful, plenty of restrooms and benches as well as a good variety of food options. I'd say you're definitely going to get your money's worth. We'll be back for sure!

We loved the zoo boo lights and idea but trying to get in there was insane. We had to park so far away. They oversold the tickets. If I had known it was that crowded I would not have spent as much money as I did for tickets. The booths were set up very nicely and it was nice the reptile exhibit was open but most of it was just people networking with the parents. I want expecting to have have live advertising, which is nice if that was what you intended to go for I guess. We wanted to go for our kids, candy, and expecting more. The shows were overcrowded and there was nowhere to sit. We couldn't even see what was going on. It was nice to get out with the family and see the lights but I wouldn't do that ever again
Cheyenne G — Google review
We arrived at opening and there were no lines. We loved the giraffe feeding experience on the lower level. Definitely worth the extra $15. The kids enjoyed stingray bay. It took extra efforts to get their hands low enough into the water to actually touch them. The stingrays seemed to swim right towards us and breach a little then dive just out of their reach! There is lots of shade in the Asia exhibit which provided a nice break as the day heated up. The park was very clean, as were the restrooms. The dining experience in Africa was definitely worth it. There were lots of options for traditional kid friendly meals as well as light sandwiches, salads and vegetarian options. While we didn't use it, there is a mobile app so you can order ahead and just go in and grab your food. Finally, bring an extra set of clothes for the kids. The splash park was a perfect way to cool off and the kids LOVED it! The only hiccup we had was the Park Mobile App required for parking. I entered the lot number but the transaction would not process due to lack of internet access. As a result, we ended up with a parking ticket for $40 instead of the $6 if the app was working. It ended the day on a little bit of a sour note. Not necessarily the fault of the Zoo, more of Park Mobile experience that happens in a number of locations.
Gina N — Google review
If you go often, look into the family membership. It's a great value. I suggest walking straight to the back of the zoo where the Elephants or Giraffes are, and then working your way forward to the entrance/exit area. Make sure you visit stingray bay, and the reptile room.
