Cool place. A lot to see. Lots of choices in all price ranges from relatively cheap like refrigerator magnets to expensive works of art. You have to stop in and see it for yourself.

Very nice to buy gifts. Frieidly service. Decorated up so cute. We enjoyed looking at all the different jewelry.
Sandy R — Google review
I gave it one star because the store was closed, but walked around outside and got to see some amazing petrified wood and wigwams. So if you ever cruising via I-40 or route 66 and want to stretch your legs, then give it a try.
Car A — Google review
Unfortunately, it was closed when we arrived, but it was still fun to visit and explore the area!
Elma — Google review
The lady at the store was very nice and did greet us as we walked in. I really wanted the moccasins for my baby niece and stopped at this store because it was advertised that the shoes were handmade there. After purchasing them found out the shoes were made from the Dominican Republic. This was disappointing. Overall the store does have tons of gifts. I’m not sure what else is not actually made in Arizona or New Mexico, but if you’re looking for authenticity I suggest you check before purchasing.
Faith G — Google review
Such a cool store! It has all sorts of rocks, gemstones, minerals, local Indian art, great stuff for the kids. We got our daughter a bow & arrows and a native beaded necklace. I got for myself, a real colored agate slice. They also sell pieces of petrified wood here in so many beautiful colors. Outdoors is full of huge pieces of petrified wood and colorful tepees and old stage wagons.
Michelle B — Google review
The ladies that work here are amazing! Keep that country music going! your store is amazing and I enjoyed stopping here and purchasing momentum’s from here I pray that your business stays thriving and you have a blessed year!
Yoko S — Google review
First time stopping here, the store has all sorts of rocks, gemstones, minerals, local Indian art, great stuff for the kids. The prices of the stuff are really cheap. They also sell pieces of petrified wood here in so many beautiful colors. Outdoors is full of huge pieces of petrified wood and colorful tepees and old stage wagons and you can touch them and take photos for free!

Stinson Pioneer Museum

History Museums
Cute museum that was the perfect size for a 20min visit with our 3 and 5yr old. The worker was very informative and friendly!
Kayla R — Google review
It had a lot of interesting things and the tour guide was nice. I just wish more of the houses had been open and that our tour guide knew a bit more. But for a free small town museum it was interesting.
Adaynasmile — Google review
This museum is run by volunteers so it may be advantageous to call and set an appointment before you visit. The museum is extremely personal and hands-on. Sharla Flake was our museum guide and she knew the history of the people who settled Snow Flake and the stories of many of their descendants. Our tour started in a house made from two original adobe houses where we loved the schoolroom upstairs. It continued with a log cabin that was dismantled in Beaver, Utah, carried about 500 miles by wagons, then rebuilt in Snow Flake. The final part of the tour is a three storey mansion (although they did not consider it as such) built in 1895 for the James Flake family who had over a dozen children. All three buildings are filled with original period furniture, belongings, photos and paintings. Our entire group loved this tour! Highest recommendation.

Steven B — Google review
Wonderful historical museum that is rich with Snowflake history! Sarah Brimhall has great knowledge about the history here and our family learned quite a bit! Also, Breanne Flake was an awesome guide through the nearby Flake House! Highly recommended for visitors and locals alike!
Joshua G — Google review
Great place to visit and learn more about the founders of Snowflake AZ. We had some of the decendants of William Jordan Flake with us and it was really cool to see what things were like when he was there and be where he had lived.

Little Painted Desert

Scenic spot
Nature & Parks
Parks
Free adventure!! Look no further, Little Painted Dessert is as beautiful as its name. Unreal!! Serene and mesmerizing hidden gem. Driving distance is approximately 25 minutes North of Winslow, off of route 66!! Best time to visit this beautiful place is during daylight. We were there mid February mid day and temperature was very comfortable. No coats required. Definitely use google map for directions. Not a whole lot of signs to guide you to the location and when you turn onto the hidden side road. The short distance to the little painted desert is rough with Lots and BIG pot holes.. Drive slow. Not too many rails and you can park the car right up to the cliff. The depth perception in the pictures does not do its justice. Do not let the hills fool you into thinking is a small area.. if you dare to walk on the historic ground, you are a little ant on the smallest bump of the hill!! Be careful climbing up and down the steep path. But you will not be disappointed if you do explore. There are no shades and not a lot of visitors and no vendors to sell food or drinks.. Be sure to pack some liquid, food and snacks. We explored the diffent sizes of the hills and found interesting objects.. apart from the different colours of gravel, we also found petrified wood!! They were heavy!! We took our time to explore the area and zero worries of other people being in the background of our picture as we were the only couple there!! Time spent there various depending how much you want to learn and explore. The 2 hours spent there flew by for us. Overall, amazing and interesting place!! Love it.
P P — Google review
Don't miss this outstanding area. Words can't describe what is expecting you. I've seen so many bandlands during the last couple of years but this is by far the most spectacular scenery I've ever seen.
Walter R — Google review
Absolutely beautiful. We stopped on our drive from Roswell going to Las Vegas and it was definitely worth it. Cloudy when we got there but the colors are still amazing and vibrant. My photos I didn't use any filters but I did adjust the shutter speed and ISO setting
T B — Google review
No signage, so you need to know where you're going beforehand! A hidden gem. Gorgeous views of the Painted Desert (better than at the NP, imo). The roads are rough and not kept up, but it's highly worth the visit. Far fewer people than at the national park. Free to enter.
Jenny B — Google review
It’s really too bad this has been abandoned, because it has absolutely incredible views. Unfortunately, it is only a matter of time before the road falls into such disrepair that it becomes impassable and the natural beauty is destroyed by locals using it as a dump site. Very sad, since it’s one of the most breathtaking sights in the area.
Be C — Google review
This is a colorful, beautiful area of Arizona rich with history that is a must see. The area has been left to the elements to decay. The "road" is sketchy but my family sedan made it fine. We went around 530PM and were rewarded with beautiful colors, we also went the next morning but the colors didn't show up.
Paul T — Google review
Beautiful scenery! Standing on the edge and looking out may make you want to climb down inside the area and look around in more detail; there were railroad ties made into stairs at one time but they are eroded and not usable currently.
Kevin B — Google review
The Little Painted Desert is a hidden treasure on Arizona 87 near mile marker 360 west of the highway. The road is unmarked, so slow down approaching mile marker 360. Be cautious, as this jem is no longer preserved by any Parks Department and the Rim Road is rough so DRIVE SLOW. This is on private land on Navjo Nation, so please show respect. There are no restrooms here. Picnic areas are no longer kept up. 20 minutes north of Winslow is well worth the trip for an amazing view.

Jack Rabbit Trading Post

A favorite stop during trips along the I-40. Brings back great memories of family vacations on Route 66. Not fancy, not high tech. Actually a wonderful glimpse of how auto travel used to be and just how nice it can be to stop and see something different. Customer service on my recent stop was (again) friendly and personable. I admit the place is colored by my past memories and some might not see it in the same way. But for families or individuals who still have a little "kid" in their heart, it's a nice respite along the roadway.
Charles B — Google review
This is an old survivor of Route 66 and still being run by the same family. Tony and Cindy are friendly and ready to answer questions. Great place to pick up all sorts of souvenirs of your trip. Also have some great photo ops with the Here It Is sign and the big Jack Rabbit you can climb on for a pic. And don’t forget to get your personalized mini mileage sign to take home.
Charles C — Google review
Major shout out to jackrabbit trading post. This is definitely a fun little spot to stop at if you’re on the road there were definitely a lot of cool souvenirs memorabilia shirts, hoodie, shock glasses, rocks, just about everything you could think of and it is a very cool little mom and Pop run business. The current owners bought it from their in-laws, which is pretty cool to see it survive through the generations, my only critique and reason why I gave four stars instead of five is when everything was rang up I asked for a military discount and I was told because everything was rang up. You couldn’t get a military discount you had to ask before it was rang up. I didn’t know that and this is typically not the norm typically you get rang up and then you asked for the military discount and then you pay other than that it was a very good experience and I highly recommend checking it out
Stephen A — Google review
A must-stop spot for your Route 66 roadtrip. Lots of great souvenirs inside, including petrified wood, jewelry, and t-shirts, but the best part is the historic room inside the gift shop, absolutely filled to the brim with antiques and historic memorabilia. Be sure to sign in to the visitors log/guest book. And of course don’t forget to take a picture riding the big Jack Rabbit out front.

Always made to feel like family here. Great karaoke. Strong drinks. Great times. I would recommend a drink but the name is vulgar. Just stop in and have a great night

Total dive bar, but fun as can be. Had to walk thru the dank hotel check in area of the motel 9. Yes, motel 9 not 8 lol. Talk about a depressing place that was. Omg. I can only imagine what those rooms look like. But I digress Ed, the Band Boot Hill was great and drinks just fine. Fun and interesting along with an assorted crowd. Great people watching but don't stare whatever you do. Bar keeps were very attentive but I think the girl taking care of us was twekin a bit, but hey, she did her job just fine and made sure we were well served. Would only go back if they have a live band, otherwise, idts.
Marc P — Google review
Would be a 5 star of not for the parking lot. A bit torn up. Great staff. Pool, darts, games. Friendly patrons. Have fun every time I go. They really cleaned up the place
Aaron C — Google review
Best bar in town! Karaoke, free pool on Sundays, pool tournaments, dart tournaments, free food Friday, awesome drink specials, live music, open mic, comfortable welcoming staff. Love this place! ❤️🎱🎯🥁🍻
Jenessa — Google review
been going to that bar for years and now they tell me I can't get a Corona and lime in a bottle it's one of the most popular import beer in the United States who ever heard of a bar that don't serve Corona in a bottle with a lime.ask bartender about why he tells me I'm the only one that drinks Corona being unsympathetic about it I guess I'll just have to go somewhere else.you think as a regular customer and if I'm the only one that drinks Corona at least put one six pack back there for me and then maybe I'll stop by three to five times a week like I used to. Ifelt obligated to go out to the bar being that he said I'd have my beer there tonight but I went out and there was no Corona with a lime waiting for me but what weird the guy sitting next to me was drinking a Corona in a bottle so I went down the street.so much for the owners word.PS I just hope this is a misunderstanding and we can work things out cuz I still like coming to the bar
Vernon B — Google review
The new owner is definitely turning this place around. Great music on the weekends could use some drink specials? But great place to hang out with your friends and neighbors
Debbie D — Google review
I do like the local bar and the bartender is really nice the last time I visited. The bar may be a it older, but it's not a bad place to get a drink!
Katy V — Google review
If you like the atmosphere of the biker/dive bar with a live band, Rumors would be your fit. It's tucked away off the Duce of Clubs & Hwy 260 in Show Low.

Show Low Historical Society Museum

Museum
Specialty Museums
Historical society museum with 16 rooms of photos, tools, family artifacts & ancestral exhibits.
It was really cool, plus it was free! Lots of cool items to look at, so much history, I learned a lot during my visit. I'll have to come back again so I can look at it more in depth, we had to rush this time because they were closing soon. Also they didn't have anyone operating the trains today, so we'll have to come back and see them sometime.
Koen E — Google review
It may look simple driving up, but it’s anything but. This free self-guided tour museum is amazing and so full of interesting items and stories of northern Arizona’s history. The best part was the train room and the detail of their model town was incredible. If you’re coming to Show Low I would highly recommend stopping by!
Lindsey R — Google review
What an awesome experience! My kids already can't wait to go back. Everything is clean and the staff is very friendly. They provided puzzles and coloring and books for my kids after we did the self guided tour. The train room is absolutely amazing! And the rooms that represent all the different eras and people are so informative and interesting. Highly recommend!
Cait W — Google review
Visitors and locals alike need to stop in to this fascinating museum! It was amazing seeing photographs of the original settlers and learning about them. Lots of relics, photos, newspaper articles. I remember as a kid eating at Pat's Place Pizza, and today, a stoplight stands in its place. It was interesting seeing surnames of people I grew up with, which came from those historical families. I loved seeing old photos of how Show Low and McNary used to look back before the town grew. Great place for kids to see things from the past. Guests from out of town would love it. We were warmly greeted when we entered the museum, and the lady handed us the pamphlet and told us about the museum, which is the old police building complete with an original jail cell.
Michele — Google review
Great place to learn about the history of Show Low. There are 17 room each with a different part of history. They have a HO train room that is beon fabulous. The kids will love it.
Paula F — Google review
This place is fabulous!! I was mesmerized with all the historical photos, stories and artifacts!! So mesmerized, actually, that I only made it thru 3 of the 17 rooms! Claire and Caroline were very friendly and knowledgeable!! And very patient with all my questions! I highly recommend checking it out if you like "old stuff!" I should also say that most people would be able to experience all 17 rooms in one visit 😀
Kari S — Google review
This museum is outstanding! We spend a few hours inside with our kids. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The gentlemen in the train area was personable and loved spending time explaining the various scenes and trains to our kids.

Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area

Park
Park with a 150-acre lake offering year-round fishing & boating, plus a campground & picnic areas.
Great experience for camping and fishing. Vault toilets, showers boat launches, fish cleaning station and the lake surrounding are picturesque. Enjoy the visit.
Randolph K — Google review
Our first time visiting! The person at the information booth said fishing was slow, but on our first cast caught a decent small mouth bass from shore! The shoreline is very rocky with no shade, but above the lake there are nice, sheltered picnic areas. Beautiful pine trees and blue skies, but no bugs to speak of. Just a great place to spend the day!
Dee M — Google review
We stayed in Mallard campground and tent camped. Excellent restrooms very clean and the park was very quite even being full. The lake was gorgeous to walk around and enjoyed the bird watching. There is a rental business on-site for water craft activities. Thank you Fran, Park Staff, and Volunteers for keeping this park so spectacular. We'll be back again!
Mariah A — Google review
Nice camp area we were in the Cinnamon Teal loop. Our only concern was it would be nice to make more clear at reservation that some of the sites are "Buddy" sites as our site neighbors were smokers and that made it difficult to open windows. Besides that, the area is well kept and the staff is very friendly. The restrooms and showers are very clean.
Deb B — Google review
Magical. Simply magical. Spot 6 in redhead loop was fantastic. Lake and sunsets were breathtaking. Trails fantastic food and walmart right down the street? Couldn't have planned this better if we tried. Show Low you've outdone yourself.

This place had a lot of different things to play on. We stopped by while in town. We're from El Mirage AZ. Our son really loved the swing he could sit it. The park was clean and all the visitors respected the park. Will definitely come here again next time we come back
Michelle K — Google review
We were able to sit and eat under shade at a picnic bench. There were lots of fun and different playground things such as a teeter-totter for 4 people. Great park for birthday party, which someone was having.

Drive-by eggers won't leave you alone till you chase them off. It's much appreciated when people keep their dogs on a leash. Pretty safe to walk around when there are no dogs at all though. Overall, well maintained park, for a small town.

Really great dog park in Show Low. Lots of room with trees and benches. You can watch a little league game from there. Nice people with sweet pups 🐶. Riley rates it a 10
Slwpdx — Google review
We stop here frequently as a rest area driving to Tucson or Phoenix. This is a really big park that has a fun, zip line for older kids and a very spacious dog park. Lots of nice shade. Great place for a nap in the shade.

I'm a visitor to Show Low area but a resident of AZ. I wanted to thank the City of Show Low park & recreation service department. The grounds r well kelp & clean. I come here to relax while looking for property to buy in the area. People her r generally nice. The bathrooms r kept tidy thanks to the gentle who is in charge of cleaning them. I just wanted to share my appreciation on here for the Show Low City park for all that helps this park to be open & all the upkeeing efforts that goes into the park. 👍🏽

We just got back from our tour of Rock Art Ranch and all I can say is that it was fabulous! Grandpa and his granddaughter are just wonderfully fun, knowledgeable and professional people. The scenery is gorgeous and the history spellbinding. We highly recommend this tour for everyone. Can’t wait to come back with some more friends 💕👍
Catherine C — Google review
Brantley, the 87 year old owner, and his daughter, a former teacher, gave the tour personally. We were first shown artifacts hat had been found around the ranch. Then we were taken on a very in depth tour of the ranch's archeological sites. Then we were shown the canyon and given as much time as we wanted to explore with a "call us when the last one of you leaves so we can lock up". Brantley and his family have so much passion for the land, preserving the artifacts, and history of the indigenous people who once lived or passed through there. Be advised that while there is an overlook with seats and picnic tables, getting into the canyon is not the most accessible. The stairs are rock stairs and are steep in places. Also, you must call to book a reservation for the tour. They do one a day and they do not take walk-ins, as the canyon is a decent drive from the parking area. The road leading to the ranch is dirt and gravel. The roads to the various sites are mostly dirt. We had a fwd Pacifica and wished we had taken our suv. A car may struggle. However the canyon is beautiful and we would go back on our next trip out here.
Nichole M — Google review
A family operation, Rock Art Ranch is well worth the time and entrance fee. Great photos, stories, displays and, of course, petroglyphs and pictograms.
Steve E — Google review
If you want to see petroglyphs up close, this is the place. Must reserve in advance. Total time is around 4 hours for visit to barn, museum, ancient Pueblo sites and petroglyphs. Take lunch, liquids and snacks. Wear sturdy shoes for walk on sandy boulders.
Larry B — Google review
What a hidden gem. Wonderful family run ranch and museum with a long personal history and a love of the ancient history and people of the land they live on. A friend and I just went last week and were fortunate to get a very personal tour. A huge thank you to the Baird family who care for the land and its history and are willing to share it. It is very remote but also accessible even in my prius. Plan to spend most of the day for this trip even if you are already in the area!
Hugh I — Google review
If you are interested in the old west and historical ancient ruins and petroglyphs this is your place. This is in a private ranch. The current owner has been here since he was a child. (70ish years) One if the universities have done several archeological digs for ruins. The owner placed a cover building to protect the open dig site. There is a small museum with old ranching items and small bunk house. Some amazing pottery discovered from the land. A small area where a Navajo family lived for many years. This family still maintains the Hogan house. The main event is the petroglyphs in the canyon. A set of steep stairs of rock and metal get you down into the canyon. A couple of bridges help cross the creek. There are so many to see. Some that may be so old that the desert varnish has cover them again after they were pecked into the rock by the desert dwellers. I had read that there may be 3000 pics. I don't know but there were a lot!! So if you can handle the hopping around boulders and sand you can find many with a up close in personal look. This would not be a good place to visit during the heat of Arizona summer.
Lisha — Google review
Absolutely a great place to go. You need to call for reservations as part of your tour of the sites is guided. The canyon is steep but worth it as there are hundreds of petroglyphs. The main ranch building is full of pioneer artifacts and a room with the best preserved pottery I have ever seen. I visited the ranch and was there 4 hours. It includes the main building, an old university archeology dig, a group of hogans and sweat lodges, and the canyon. Well worth the $35 admission.
David T — Google review
Absolutely fantastic! Unfortunately, it is now closed for tours, possibly for good. Incredible pottery found on the ranch. Also, amazing petroglyphs down by their canyon. If they open up again, don't miss this.

Such a fun casual place to chill with friends under the awesome Show Low sunshine. Tasty beers and today a great food truck. We stayed longer than planned and wrapped up our visit with nice solo singer Cheyenne Steele.

Let me say, I love supporting local and enjoyed the atmosphere and folks while here. It is always worth a stop to try. That said, beer wise they were just ‘ok’. We tried a few different ones and they all missed on their style profiles - like an IPA didn’t really have that citrus hop. Again, worth a stop to try yourself and we loved hanging there, so give it a try.

None of the beers stood out to me, but the vodka infused Mango Peach Gria was interesting. It didn’t really taste like a beer, but a mixed drink. The Summer Wheat (Hefeweizen) was absolutely terrible, do not get it. The brewery tanks and taps are inside a building that looks like an old horse barn, which gives it an interesting aesthetic. When it’s warm, there’s picnic tables and wicker seats outside in the flat yard. There were several dogs there, so it’s probably dog friendly.

The Black Horse Brewery is my favorite place for quality craft beer in Northern AZ, the quality is VERY high, the atmosphere is 100% unique (being a large private farm), and the owners are awesome. My favorite is the Friday Nite IPA, which is NOT bitter being an English variety. In the spring ask for the Jalapeño beer! Some weekends there is live music, I spent an entire Saturday here listening to an awesome blues band. Wifi is available for the working traveler.

Great place to hang! Great selection of beer and to have a great time! Met the owner and talked a bit. Family owned business. Just great!

Cool brewery outside of Showlow. Super friendly owner, great beer. We brought a picnic lunch and enjoyed some beer. We will be back.
Tom D — Google review
Rustic down home farm atmosphere… because it’s a literal farm. Social community outdoor seating lots of people brought their own camp chairs. At 3-4pm there was some shade. Parking is in the corral by the house brewery is in the barn. Closed shoes would be safer than sandals for the dirt gravel sawdust and sticks. Lots of people brought their dogs but ours isn’t social so he stayed home or we could have sat under the tree drinking that strawberry watermelon beer all day. A flight of samples was a reasonable price to help you choose your favorite. A band was setting up but we had to go before we really did drink the evening away. By 5 on a Saturday the place was really filling up and the food truck for the evening rotates and was busy (East Coast Cheese Steaks are delicious!!) Pace yourselves! These beers have a higher alcohol content and sweet ones tend to creep up on you. There are growlers and cans for purchase to enjoy at home. Drive safe everyone!

Homolovi State Park, located in Winslow, AZ, offers a rich historical experience on former Hopi lands. The park features ancient areas with stone tools, petroglyphs, and traditional pit houses dating back to the fourteenth century. Visitors can explore historic ruins of pueblos and see petroglyphs while hiking through wild prairie among archaeological sites. The park also includes a museum with Hopi artifacts and a campsite for overnight stays.
What a beautiful campground. It is so convenient to I-40. We did see the ruins which are very interesting. The spots are nice and big and we even had two trees! We saw the wild burrows on and off the entire time. Would definitely return in the future.
Deb T — Google review
We had a great time at the park! We saw the coolest lizards, crows, donkeys and a wonderful view! The ranger at the visitor center was very knowledgeable and helpful. They also have an excellent gift shop.

Amazing campground within the state park. Most sites have electric and water. There is a dump station and new bathrooms and showers. Views and sunsets are fantastic. Wild burros throughout the park and sometimes in the campground. Ancient Pueblo ruins within the park.
Kristie B — Google review
Such a beautiful park! I wish I could have stayed longer! The spots were great not to close. Most sites had a covered picnic table and grill. I was on site 5 and mine didn't have a cover but a nice tree that my picnic table was under. There was a restroom and look like showers but I didn't go in. The building itself looked new. It was pretty busy.

This was a great place to camp while az was getting rain for days. It's up on a bit of a hill so we are fine. I really enjoyed watching the wild donkeys. We walked to homolovi in and loved seeing all of the pottery shards. Homolovi ii had more intact buildings and really nice walkway.
Teresa M — Google review
Surprising nice campground! This was a last minute unplanned stay and turned out to be so nice! The sites were large and next close together. Each site had a covered area with a picnic table and fire ring. Showers were clean. Wild burros free roam the park which is really neat! We could hear them braying in evening when we were around the campfire. The ruins were really neat and there’s broken pottery everywhere! Overall a great park/campground, would stay here again!

Extraordinary park to learn about the Hopi culture and archeology. Ranger Ken and Gwen are incredibly knowledgeable having spent 35 years at the park. We had the best tour and pottery demonstration rivaling any park I have ever been too. The campground is great and has 50 and 30-amp service and a sewer dump. The bathrooms are very clean and the views and space between campsites is great. Lots to see in the Winslow area, Crater. petrified forest, LaPosada,,,,, A must on your Arizona experience list!
Thom W — Google review
Loved our two night stopover here. There are showers and flush toilets that are all very well maintained and clean. The park is beautiful and very quiet ... no train noise but you see them off on the horizon and I know there are reviews of other parks that mention the noise so that was a bonus for us! The sites are large with a cabana and picnic table at each one. Just a 13 minute drive to the infamous "Standin' on the corner" location. Another review mentioned a very bumpy ride into the site, that has been fixed and it's not bad at all... would NOT stop me from going at all! Highly recommend this spot!

9-11 Memorial

Memorial park
Sights & Landmarks
The 9-11 Memorial in Northern Arizona is a solemn tribute to the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The memorial features two mangled steel girders from the Twin Towers, serving as a poignant reminder of the terrorist attacks in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. Located at the Remembrance Garden on East 3rd Street and Transcon Lane, this serene site honors the lives lost on that fateful day.
I parked up next to this on a morning with a beautiful blue sky, to pay my respects, being ex military! It's wonderfully laid out in its simplicity and the poignancy is tangible. I decided to touch the beams and it was quite a feeling, taking me back to the horrors, that I watched on the television in utter disbelief, from over in the UK! Well done Winslow for such a beautiful and peaceful place to visit and contemplate the past, present and future of what we do!

+JMJ...Saturday, 19 September 2020. What an awesome surprise to learn about this 9-11 Memorial. Emotionally touching to see part of the Trade Center placed on a lovely, grassy parcel of land. Deep feeling of sadness but still there was a sense of peace. Many lives were lost that day but the spirit of care and concern was enlivened in those who gave much of their time to rescue those they could and then to give consolations to families who lost loved ones. 😢 I am sure those who stopped to visit the Memorial offered a prayer for all affected. There were many pieces of memorabilia left on and inside the two beams. But, one of the most touching items left was a set of Rosary beads. A prayer tool used to prayerfully meditate on the life of Jesus Christ, God, the Word made flesh. He Who is the Resurrection and the Life. May all who perished on that terrible day be granted eternal peace, love, joy! And, a multitude of "Thank yous! and "God bless yous" be offered for all responsible for allowing that Memorial to be built in Winslow Arizona.

Historical place
Standin' on The Corner Foundation in Winslow, Arizona is a historic area that attracts many visitors. It features a two-story mural, a life-size statue, built-in seats, and native landscaping. This spot holds significance as it was immortalized in the 1972 Eagles hit song 'Take It Easy'. The lyrics from the song have made this corner famous and it has become a pilgrimage site for music lovers.
This is a wonderful opportunity for a rest stop and to get some silly selfies. Be sure to play the Eagles song "Take It Easy" as you drive through this little town. You have to admire all the details that went into creating this marvelous visual experience. Be careful as you enjoy there are lots of people enjoying it too. I drove around the block to get the shot of our car on the Route 66 shield paint in the middle of the intersection.
Steve — Google review
So other than the corner and a couple of bars and gift shops there's not a lot to do here. It's really easy to get too just off the interstate, but if you're driving an RV parking could be challenging. If you're looking for a short stop and a bit of food at an old fashioned tourist place then this is the perfect place to go
Cordell W — Google review
A fun afternoon standing on the corner! Nice shops for souvenirs. I was here in '22, but didn't stick around long r/t homeless on each corner. Happy to day none this time. The town has added outdoor eating/pubs since then. You have to see the world smallest chapel n garden area. Overall definately worth seeing, esp if you like Eagles music!
Karen T — Google review
We had a lot of fun there taking pictures.. The surprise was the tiny Church and the hotel. We enjoyed the hotel immensely. Don't miss the famous hotel if you go to Winslow.
Darlene D — Google review
If you're an Eagles fan then you will want to stop at this "famous" corner. It's nice that a small town can create a tourist attraction from song lyrics! As I was driving around Winslow on my way to the corner, I figured that my wife and I would be the only visitors. I was surprised at how many other people took time to stop by this iconic corner. It's a terrific tribute to Glenn Frey and the Eagles and worth the time to stop by!
Joseph H — Google review
This is tough to write. The actual homage that has been created is really well done and very engaging - but Winslow is the 4th most dangerous city in Arizona and you can really feel it as you are driving in. I was by myself and felt as though I had to keep my head on a swivel the entire time, rather than enjoy the spot. Just beware and be safe.

If you know the musical group The Eagles then you know this site. Famous for being mentioned in the lyrics of the song Take It Easy, written by Jackson Brown and Glen Frey. Also a popular spot on Route 66.

The best part of my trip to Winslow was getting a tour in this museum. Stopped by today to check out the store. Because it was getting hot outside I decided to buy a shirt. They cut off the tags and let me change into the new cooler shirt. We left and walked to the car only to find I left my sunglasses there. So we drive back, park and barely got out of the car and was greeted by the ladies with sunglasses in hand, smiling. Thank you ladies. By the way, they have a great looking store with fantastic prices.

I would consider myself a Fish and Chips critic. I've had great fish, bad fish, and passable fish. So when I arrived at this restaurant and saw that Fish and Chips was sold on Friday, I obviously had to get it. Fish: 5/5 For one, the Fish. This fish was the best seasoned fish I've ever had on this type of dish. It beats out every other restaurant in taste. I would absolutely love to know exactly what seasoning was on it, as this was an incredible job. The crust was crunchy, which is good, however it also wasn't sturdy. The fish collapsed under its own weight when I picked up one end, which honestly is a matter of preference. I personally prefer to be able to hold one end and keep it together. 5/5 stars. Fries: 3.5/5 The Fries were well seasoned and quite good. They weren't particularly crispy, but they did good for the task at hand. Other: I tried a hush puppy for the first time tonight, and I wasn't a fan, so I won't rate it. I'm sure others would like it, as I'm considered quite picky by everyone I know. I also did not try the coleslaw. Service: The service here was fast. We were seated almost instantly and the waitresses were quick to refill our drinks. The added robots carrying around food was interesting, and kept the toddler with us distracted, which was nice. Conclusion: If I lived in Heber-Overgaard, I would come here every Friday for this dish. The fish wasn't quite as sturdy and solid as I would have hoped, but it had to be the best tasting one. The fact that it's only available on Fridays means that it must be freshly delivered that day, so I had no fear of experiencing a frozen fish. Well done. Would come back. 5/5 stars.

Good food, nice atmosphere and service was ok. Four of us shared a pizza and drinks. Cocktails were decent. Our daughter had a watermelon sour and wife had a espresso martini. Everyone enjoyed the fried cheesecake for dessert. They had 2 robots expediting the food. The robots didn't really add to the experience and considering we are at a saloon up near the rim, the robots seemed out of place.

Had a great experience! Food was delicious and filling. Beer was super cold and tasted fresh. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend this place.
Jim M — Google review
We had a great experience here, we came to celebrate our anniversary. We ordered Ribeye steaks that were excellent, as were the sides. It was fun to have the food brought out by robots too. We splurged after dinner and split a pazooki and it was so good. It was served in small cast iron skillet and was piping hot and gooey. We will definitely return!
Diana P — Google review
It was a pretty cool place. It's a strip mall that l Iooks like the old west but then they had robotic waters bringing your food out. We sat outside on the back patio with our dog. They provided a water dish to our dog and we ordered her a pup patty. There was a period of time where the server didn't return and I didn't have a drink. The options on the menu were good. We definitely want to go back and try more things. Work our way through the menu. The hubby loved the pastrami burger. I had the chicken Alfredo pizza which was decent. Sorry I forgot to take pics.
Sandra M — Google review
We have been here before for lunch and had great meals so we were looking forward to taking a guest for dinner. We ordered an appetizer which was very good. For dinner, we ordered two bison burgers, cooked medium rare and a cranberry and pecan salad. After a rather lengthy wait, our meals were delivered by the little robot. My wife reported that the salad was delicious. Both burgers were cooked well done rather than medium rare with one side cooked so well done, it resembled a hockey puck. We would have sent them back (which I rarely ever do) however, we didn’t see our waitress again. We choked most of them down but couldn’t eat all of it as they were charred to a crisp on one side. Our waitress finally came back to our table and we mentioned how the burgers were way overcooked. She said she would tell the cook although I’m confident that never happened. Our meals were long done and we finally had to get up and go stand by the bar and ask someone if we could get our check. We were very disappointed especially for our guest since we had been bragging about the food quality. I’m unsure that we will want to return.
Steve B — Google review
The table and chair designs are cool looking, but not super comfortable or practical. The robot was cool and fun to watch. Food was good I had the Black and Blue Burger and my party had the Prime Rib. My burger was great (I like blue cheese) the chips weren't and the coleslaw had peppers in it which I think is an acquired taste. We ordered the Prime Rib with added horseradish sauce, which they made fresh for us, it was super good and cooked just as ordered. Onion rings were tasty as was the baked potato. Salads (the side salad and app) were nothing special.
Taia F — Google review
Awesome saloon restaurant! Great service and food. The chef salad is plentiful. Loved the cow seat stools! Went back and highly recommend the Calamity Jane burger with house chips or tots. They have a robot that brings the food to the table, which was very entertaining. There is a modern style jukebox on the wall. There's a pool table to the side. The food, in my opinion, is better than some other popular spots in Show Low. The staff was very personable and attentive! The cocktail was made excellent! Prices are about right for a good meal or drink.

Was such a lovely day, owner was there and showed us all the different lavender , educated us on the different types and uses. I just loved his love for what he and his wife do. This was a must stop for our family when visiting. I’m so glad we did. The products we’ve used so far out of everything we purchased have been great. They do a raffle if you spend over $100 and it is easy to do that there. We plan to come back when the lavender is in bloom and not covered in snow.

Robin S — Google review
I 100% recommend to any outdoor enthusiest! We dispersed camped off the FR300 Mogollon Rim Road, turned down FR169 and drove until we found a spot of I think Deer Lake fire road. It was late and dark so a bit hard to find for us first timers to the area, but as soon as the morning sun hit we knew we had found a great spot. Beautiful views all over, I really dont think there is a bad spot here on the rim to camp. On a whim we drove to Bear Canyon Lake and hiked down to the shore, secluded and beautiful. We will bring our paddle boards next time, as the lake was all but empty except a few fishing. Totally serene and beautiful. But there are no roads to the shoreline so it does require some fitness to hike down and back up. Our aim was Woods Canyon Lake so that was our next stop, glad we hit Bear Canyon first because woods canyon was packed on this busy camping period in the middle of September. We didnt stay, too busy for us but we did refresh our ice and beverage stock at the market! Instead we parked at the outlook along the rim and walked a bit along the trail before heading back for a mid day nap to recharge before playing games and cooking dinner around the camp fire. Can't wait to come back for some more rest, rewind, and exploration! Happy camping!!

The Rim Trail runs right along the edge of the Mogollon (say mugghee on) Rim. It is easily accessible from the Rim Road, which is also called FR 300. The best views are right before the turn to Woods Canyon Lake Road, as the Rim Road is nearest the rim's edge there. There are several turnoff parking areas, (none with facilities) and in my opinion, the best is Rim Lakes Vista Overlook. The rim edge is quite near the parking area. There are trails along here and several are paved and in good shape. It's not a tough walk. This view is south and west and during the day, the view provides vistas of several mountain tops, including the Four Peaks. The sunsets are great from the vantage points, and then when the stars come out on clear nights, it's like a window into heaven. It's cool here at just about 7,000 feet and there is often a gentle breeze blowing across the rim edge. There are no guardrails, and it is very inviting to scramble around on those huge boulders. The drop is steep, straight, and hard, landing on more rocks, so use caution. The are benches in various places to sit and admire what you see. If you bring snack food, please pack out the trash, and leave this place pristine for the next person.

Bring about $1.00 in quarters (4) to get fish food for the pond. WARNING: The fish pellets are greasy in the summer. 🤣 (Something to wash hands off after is recommended.) Only open until 3:30pm. The “Visitor Center” has a small walk-through exhibit with some neat displays. Good for younger kids, but definitely more geared toward anglers. There’s a couple small exhibits of local wildlife. It’s an active hatchery—not a tourist spot. BUT if you’re nearby on another activity, this is a good detour to fulfill an hour.

Website said they were open 7:30am to 3:00pm. Sign on the highway said they were open. Kids were excited to see it. When we got there, it was closed and fenced off. Not a soul on site to ask questions. Very disappointing. Someone needs to update their website AND keep the signage accurate. This is a recurring problem as other reviewers said the same thing.

The wine was delicious and the prime rib dinner was amazing. Best espresso martini!!!My husband and I were celebrating Our Anniversary and they brought out a cake with edible glitter and a candle. This is such a cute place! Thank you to the staff for making this night special!

I ordered the wine flight. Wine was very tasty. Vineyard is small, calm and beautiful. Customer service was excellent.

Love this place. It's a little high price for scrambled eggs, but the food was good and very filing, The wine was amazing, and our server was very knowledgeable about the vineyard and the wines in our flight. The flight was priced reasonably. We will definitely go back.

We came here as part of my wife's weekend birthday getaway. The food, wine and staff did not disappoint. This location [Young] is off the beaten path, however, worth the trip.

We had an amazing time at Camp Wild Chef at Bruzzi Vineyard. The property is great with animals all around and a rustic style feel. The views are great as we enjoyed 2 sunsets sipping wine. The morning time was great as I read my book taking in the grapevines. Saw the menu for their last dinner of the Titanic which looked fantastic and sounded like a unique event. Sip through the wine and really enjoy the 2018 Bruzzi Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and 2020 Bruzzi Vineyard Vidal Blanc

Had reservations for the filet mignon dinner. It was amazing. The biggest filet I ever had and perfectly cooked medium rare. They also cooked a medium well for one person with us and she loved it too. The French onion soup was delicious (and I dont usually like French oinion soup.) Tables were spaced a nice distance apart. The green beans were ok, but the desert melted in my mouth. Didnt feel rushed and had friendly service. There is a little area to buy local artists goods. I bought a pair of socks and love them. The socks are made on a vintage sock machine and hand cranked by a local resident of Young. AZ. So comfy and you can feel the quality.

We were staying at Elk Haven Cabins with a very large group and drove down on our off-road rigs to Bruzzi Vineyard for the day! What a FABULOUS place in the middle of Young, AZ! The owner and team were so nice and made you feel really comfortable! We could have stayed the entire day there and just relaxed. Their wine was surprisingly good for Arizona wines and inside they display local artists work that you can purchase.Everything from hand made cutting boards, to T Shirts, to paintings Proceeds helping the LOCAL hospital and town. I LOVE this! The vineyard may be in a small town, but it certainly would not be described as "small town"! We will certainly recommend them and be back in the future!

I’m so glad me and my girlfriend had the opportunity to make reservations with these folks for dinner. We felt so welcome and the food & drinks were great. The portions were large and I was happy to have some left overs for later. I highly recommend the wine tasting option at dinner!!

We had a great time searching for fossils. Spent a couple of hours walking all around the area and easily found several fossils. Beautiful surroundings.

Pretty neat place. The only treasure I found was human made and took it down with me. There were other folks up there, but they didn't find anything. I think it's cleaned out.

Had a good time playing in the dirt. Big paved lot right off the highway. Found some goodies! Worth a visit if you're in the area.
WB M — Google review
The Paleo site monument is a very simple roadside stop with good access to a land site point where is shall see once existed. Today this land point is filled with sedimentary stone that contains many fossils. small bivalves, worms, and other mollusks. The easy access and ease of finding simple fossils is a good pleasure that children or adults may enjoy parking is easy and plentiful. It’s a fairly quiet place for a picnic or a nap.
Aj S — Google review
It's a nice stop, right off the highway, great place for a break and stretch out your legs on a long trip. The site is informative on the fossils found there , and if you take your time and do a little digging in the grey material you can find some nice fossils, or come after a good rain and you can find some on the surface . Being this accessable means it gets picked over pretty good, but you can still find some if you put in a little work . Definitely worth the stop !
MrJackson66 — Google review
Fantastic easy hike with great history. Such a nice short hike for leisure and pictures, plus the fossils are so much fun to search for! Up the slope you'll see a ton in the layers of rocks, but there's also plenty to be found by the identification sign and right around the ground level. Some are really small so it takes a sharp eye to spot, but it's great fun for all ages!
Sierra C — Google review
I had a great time looking in the bluff/cliff of lighter color rocks for fossils. Then we followed a wash down and found other fossils and cool rocks. I don't if you could collect there so we left them and I am trying to collect fewer rocks. My friend said 4 stars bc they expected something more like the Trona Pinnacmes, otherwise 5 stars. It rained on and off. There was an old car hood washed down from a higher point.
Veronica H — Google review
This was a nice diversion from the highway and an opportunity to stretch our legs. Although I didn’t find any fossils, I had fun looking around and bashing the sandstone together. I really appreciate the work that the young Eagle Scout did to put together the informational sign here; nice work!

Water Wheel Falls Hiking Trail

Hiking area
Nature & Parks
Short riverside hike with some rock scrambling to reach a waterfall, popular for family day trips.
You need a Tonto national pass, maybe 15-20 parking spots total. Very short hike, goes from a easy dirt trail to a on a rock like cliff- moderately difficult. The trail is well worth exploring, I had a very fun time hiking up and down the water falls. I saw around 16 waterfalls, small to up too 12 feet high! Soild 9/10, will be returning again! Washington trail at the end of this road is also absolutely amazing, highly recommend if you like this one!
Makenzie R — Google review
That was such a fun hike. The water was super cold, which actually felt great since the weather wasn’t too hot. There were these smooth rocks with water running over them that worked like natural slides—you could literally slide down! I saw a few wildflowers here and there, not a ton, but still nice. Overall, the trail had good vibes, a bit of adventure, and some really cool spots to chill. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into hikes with a little extra something.
Pegah K — Google review
Please make sure to wear the proper footing...lots of boulder climbing and rocks...smooth rocks..so we're something with grips...and no crocs! The trail is visible in segments and then you have to trust the instincts and listen for the people coming and going. Its beautiful and incredible that its in this state.
Gia J — Google review
Gorgeous Trail featuring Multiple Swim Holes and Waterfalls. The trail definitely requires some scrambling and relatively easy rock climbing to get to the "Big Falls"
Brandon N — Google review
Nice area for a pleasant walk on a warm spring day. Suitable for all ages but the rocks may sometimes be slippery. Hike to the end. Careless people often litter and throw plastic bottles and other trash in the streams. A very bad habit. Other than that, it is worth a visit.
János K — Google review
Great summer hike! Shaded trail for the most part. plenty of swimming options all the way from the parking to the falls! It gets packed quick on the weekends so be sure to get there early. Don’t forget to grab your parking pass on the way there. There is a turn off point with some porter johns (bathroom) prior to the trailhead parking area. There you will find the kiosk to grab your passes. I suggest using the porter potties on any of the two stops before the actual trail head (much cleaner)
Gary S — Google review
It was so beautiful! Even though it got very difficult and hard to traverse near where I came back, The whole trail was based off a creek, And the water wheel was very cool, but the water wheel was covered in graffiti.

This is not an easy hike at all. With children especially difficult alot of rocks to climb very slippery if you dont have right shoes. But it is absoluteley beautifule and serene.Just be prepared for a pretty difficult hike not long distance but terrain wise.

Mazatzal Hotel & Casino

Casinos & Gambling
Mazatzal Hotel & Casino is a delightful all-suite resort that offers a cozy atmosphere, perfect for both relaxation and entertainment. With an indoor pool, gym, and a vibrant restaurant featuring live DJs at the bar, it’s an ideal spot for those looking to unwind. While some guests noted the absence of complimentary drinks while gaming and mentioned smoke in certain areas, many praised the overall dining experience.
This is one of the nicest Hotels I have stayed in and been at, from the staff to the entire encounter of the casino. My wife and I went here for a few days while looking at some land. We had a great time; everyone was super helpful and nice. The food and pricing were extremely affordable and convenient not having to leave the hotel to get something to eat. Definitely be visiting again soon.
Steve M — Google review
We use to like staying at this place but the last 3 times this place has gotten worse each time. Well we just had a experience that sealed the coffin for giving this place a single cent here on out. Rooms with a balcony was the only way to stay here. The wife and I would always get the soup and salad bar in their Cedar Ridge restaurant for $10. But the last 3 times staffing and quality of their food has dropped out of sight. This time the host put us at a table that was wet, dirty and never wiped down from the last people. We had to show him where it was dirty and wet in several places. He started wiping it off and it was dropping in my wife's lap. He was using a dry napkin. I had to ask if we could get a clean table. We sat there 20+ min and still no service. A waitress ending her shift apologized and asked if she could at least grab us a drink. I had a water and the wife wanted nothing. She lost her appetite from having someone else's scraps in her lap. Still nobody came by to take our order so I helped myself to the $10 soup and salad bar. After 2 trips, still no service. My wife walked over to the waiters table to grab the water pitcher to fill my glass for me. Still no service. After being there over an hour, the wife walked out pissed. I walked up to the front desk and told the host that we had no service. I told him that another couple sitting by us was complaining to the wife about not having any service as well. I asked so is it on the house? He agreed and said he was sorry and that he didn't see us and that we were good. Well apparently the dweeb working the tables down from us decided to write out a bill after we left and went swimming in the pool without us knowing. The punk never came to our table. He passed me once on the way to the salad bar and asked if I was fine. As if he was doing anything? We came back to the room on the 3rd floor and when getting off the elevator, 2 security guards met us at our room with a bill for $11 and asked why we didn't pay our bill. I explained that we never placed our order and never got any service while there and I told them what the host said. Never saw the dweeb that must have thought he did something for me in passing. The wife took the bill from security and went down and gave the host $11. She then went to reservations and canceled the next couple nights we planned on staying for our 36 anniversary trip. We will drive to California in the morning to give our business to the Sheraton and Disneyland for 3 days like we originally planned. So much for saving money and coming here. I think from now on if we plan to stay at a casino in Arizona, it will be at a much nicer one like Del Sol casino in Tucson that has much better food and service and its actually a very nice resort and $30 cheaper a night. You may want to avoid Mazatzal like the black plague. Horrible service and sad experience. Plus if you do play slots, the majority of their slot machines are 20+ yrs old and this place does not pay out from what I've always experienced and seen. They are still trying to recover their losses from covid it seems like. Just consider that if you do go here and experience what we have, you were warned.

My Husband And I stayed from Friday-Monday and it was amazing! Casino is great. The Cedar Ridge Restaurant was Delicious. Tara, the bar “manager” tried her best to ruin our night. Me and my grandmother just arrived to the casino for the trace adkins concert. My grandma just had surgery so I had her sit down at the bar. After 10mins we were served, we understood, it was busy. She was not friendly and after we ordered our drink we wanted a shot of whiskey before we headed out to the stage, when she noticed there was no tip before we ordered the shot, she threw the change down and was VERY RUDE. Tara proceeded to ignore us for the remainder of the time, ignoring our request for the shot where we were going to leave a tip. We kept trying to get her attention, she avoided all eye contact. I finally got her attention by “excuse me miss” and she said “YEAH” with an attitude and proceeded to walk away avoiding eye contact. At this point we were confused and thought maybe she couldn’t hear us so my grandma continued to get her attention. At this point, she called security without even addressing us any further, or acknowledging that she even heard us. She could’ve aknowleged us and state she would get to us in a minute but instead she attempted to have us “removed” from the casino. I have been a restaurant manager for 7 years and never have been treated like this. I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this level of service and competence. I will be sure to let everyone I know how unprofessional and irrational the people whom work at this casino treat HIGH paying people.

Highly impressed with Cedar Ridge staff. Breakfasts and Dinners were awesome. Salad/soup bar was awesome and kept fresh and clean. Prime Rib on Sat night was really good. Slightly overcooked but super tasty and tender All staff throughout the hotel and casino are really friendly and great you at every opportunity

Mazatzal Casino sits just on the edge of town, a place where the energy shifts the moment you walk in. The casino floor hums with life, rows of machines lighting up as locals and visitors test their luck. There’s a good mix of slots, table games, and poker, so whether you’re there for a quick spin or a night of play, you’ll find your rhythm fast. It isn’t as overwhelming as the big city casinos, which actually makes it more inviting. The food options add to the draw. The Grille offers hearty plates that fit perfectly after a few hours on the floor, and there are quick-bite options if you just want to keep the game rolling. When the game on the screen matters more than the game on the table, the sports bar is the spot. Screens line the walls, the drinks flow easy, and the atmosphere feels like a mix of hometown spirit and casino buzz. What makes Mazatzal memorable is that it manages to feel lively without losing the small-town welcome. You get the excitement of gaming, the comfort of good food, and the camaraderie of cheering a team on, all in one stop. Grateful Traveler’s Note

The quality and price of the buffet and meals is excellent. At The Grille, we have also enjoyed the most tasty homemade soups, and menu items specially prepared by amazing cooks!! Mazatzal has provided years of fun, special friends, and delicious meals!! Jim and Judy

Players club doesn't do hotel rooms. If you want to stay you gotta pay. Very friendly and niche. Fun stop on your way north or camping. Tables open i. The afternoon but are the best in AZ. Best bets and odds. The Apache Spirit is great and makes the casino one of a kind. Thank you for that. Plenty of new machines to get lost in. Hope you have a good one.

History Museums
The Rim Country Museum and Zane Grey Cabin is a historical museum owned by the Northern Gila County Historical Society, showcasing exhibits on local history including Apache indigenous culture, pioneer history, and the late 19th-century gold rush. The museum features a replica cabin dedicated to author Zane Grey, who frequently vacationed in the area for bear hunting and set many of his novels in Arizona. Visitors can explore indoor and outdoor exhibits, including replicated 19th century buildings and original foundations.
Adorable museum with local history and super knowledgeable staff. Very enjoyable. Go here and then walk around the park for a great way to kill a couple of hours. Don’t miss the upstairs in the museum. Buy something at the gift shop on your way out - recommend the cactus jam. Yum.

Great place! There's Zane Grey's Cabin (You cannot take photos inside) and a self guided tour museum (You CAN take pictures there.) Also a really nice gift shop. We enjoyed seeing the fire truck that they are restoring, the school house, and learning about the devasting fire and 'hotshots' fighting it. Very interesting place, highly recommend.
Theresa J — Google review
This is one of the best small town museums I've had the pleasure of stepping into. Two tours are offered: one guided tour through a replica of Zane Gray's cabin that takes about 20-30 minutes, the other is a self-guided tour through the second story museum. A ticket for both tours together costs 10 dollars. Each by itself costs 5 dollars. There are senior citizen and first responder(?) discounts. The docent volunteers are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate. The museum exhibits are easy to read and digest, the displays and artifacts themselves are fantastic, and there is more packed in here than you would expect at first glance. Even someone without a passion for history will walk out of this place satisfied. The gift shop has a great selection of gifts, apparal, and many local and regional books. I will definitely be back, and recommend this as a great place to stop in Payson.

If you like history, I would recommend checking out the Rim Country Museum! They had more then I was expecting, 2 different tours, exhibits dating back to 1300 AD! They people running the museum are down to earth and work off of a volunteer basis. Go support some history and check it out! 5 stars!
Joey B — Google review
The Rim Country Museum maintains this replica of the Zane Grey cabin originally located some miles from this location. For whatever reason, no interior photos of the replica cabin are permitted. Unfortunate. I wouldn't make a special trip to see this one-room building, but if you're in the area it's worth your time (and the cost of admission - it's not free). The story here is about not only Zane Grey, famous American Dentist-from-Ohio & Western Novelist (1872-1939) but also a second story about the man who built this replica after he renovated the original only to have it burn to the ground in 1990 - William Goettl. The museum staff does a great job recounting the life and times of both Grey and Goettl, offering a fairly detailed story of Grey's personality, writings, life style and more. Especially noteworthy was the story about how Grey took a film crew to the cabin at great expense, wanted to go on a bear hunt, found out that the season had ended, requested a special bear hunting permit, was denied, then left Arizona very angry and feeling betrayed, never to return.

A small museum that highlighted by the personnel, who were really great, knowledgeable and super friendly. Our guide to the Zane Grey single room cabin was very funny and had all sorts of stories keeping us interested. Many of Grey's Western books were written in this cabin. Nice stop, a lot of history and big dose of hospitality. If you have a chance this is a good place to stop and enjoy.

Green Valley Park

Nature & Parks
Nestled in the heart of Payson, Arizona, Green Valley Park is a delightful 13-acre community oasis that invites visitors to unwind and connect with nature. This tranquil park features picturesque fishing lakes, expansive green spaces for picnics and play areas for children, making it an ideal spot for families and outdoor enthusiasts alike. With its well-kept facilities and seasonal events that foster community spirit, Green Valley Park serves as a perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
This lake is amazing! There is a paved path around it, which is great for walking the dog. It's about 0.6 miles around. There is lots of grass too. And everyone is super friendly. This is also a popular place to fish. We even saw about 30 elk one morning!

Beautiful park in Payson. Peaceful and calm. We saw a herd of about 30 elk this morning. Everyone is friendly and it is great for dogs. Lots of shade and natural beauty. Ducks and geese galore. Restrooms on site.

Beautiful little lake with walking paths, a boat ramp, and a fishing dock (watch for a couple broken spots on the dock). Dog-friendly and peaceful — not very busy when I visited. It was hot, so bring water! A great quick stop if you’re in Payson.
Storm G — Google review
Lovely lake to walk/bike/run/skate/amble around. Families and neighbors were standing around talking and visiting with each other. The fountain in the middle of the lake changes color at night, and it's relatively safe. It's in a quiet neighborhood, no loud stereos blasting... Just a nice place to bring the family for an evening.
Alma A — Google review
Green Valley Park feels like the town’s open-air living room. It stretches wide with three sparkling lakes, grassy lawns, and tall pines framing the edges, creating a space where the whole community seems to come together. On any given day you’ll see kids chasing ducks, families spreading out picnics, and fishermen casting lines with the kind of patience that only comes when the air is cool and the pace is slow. There’s a walking path that winds around the water, perfect for a morning stroll or an evening reflection as the sun drops behind the Rim. The park also plays host to community events, from art festivals to summer concerts, and when that happens the open lawns fill with laughter, music, and the smell of food drifting from vendors. What makes Green Valley Park special is the balance it holds. It’s quiet enough for solitude if you need it, yet alive with energy when the town gathers. It’s a reminder that sometimes the heart of a place isn’t a restaurant or a shop, but the green space where people come simply to be together. Grateful Traveler’s Note

My son loves going fishing here with me. Great little spot in town to fish with the family. Ducks geese and elk are usually around which is a bonus for the kids.
Chris T — Google review
Tried fishing here but didn't see a single person including myself catching anything. I dont typically fish at urban lakes but wanted to try this on the way out of town since some of the locals recommended it. Can't say I'll go back to fish there, but other than that it is a nice lake. Good scenery, and great place to walk around or pack a lunch and eat down by the lake.
Matt L — Google review
Currently, 6/24/2022, the public restrooms on the south side are closed. Lets hope they get them updated because they were the only bad thing about the park. The restrooms on the north side are still open. I drive up from Phoenix because I enjoy this park so much! I noticed the Visitors Center is now open so I'll have a chance to visit it. Everyone who walks at the park treats you like a neighbor. I can sit all day just watching the birds of prey catch fish. There's lots of open space and grass for kids. The only issue is the restrooms can be dirty. I can hardly wait until the museum buildings on the east side are open again.

We loved our quick visit to the Lavender Farm Store. Super friendly woman that helped us and let us try the products. It worked, sold us on a few items! The lotion bar feels amazing, got it with the gel socks. Sampled the lavender lemon pepper and had to get it to try with some recipes! Can't wait to come back when the lavender is in bloom!

FANTASTIC shop/farm in Pine!!! Lovely, welcoming customer service and a wide variety of products! Robin was a complete delight and shared the story of the farm. I went with the intention of getting soap and left with much more! Lavender Margarita mix, Lavender Cappuccino Mix and a beautifully embroidered lavender soap bag/holder. I’m sorry I missed their cooking class this month because it sounded fun! Highly recommend stopping and shopping! There is something for everyone!

We stopped here today on our way through town, and I’m so happy we did! The owner was so sweet and thoughtful and we bought a hand made soap bar and a honey stick, so delicious! Located about 25 minutes north of Payson, AZ is the Pine Vreek Lavender Farm. It is small but absolutely beautiful! They grow three different varieties of lavender, including one, which, when rendered down, produces a tasty, sweet lavender sugar. You can buy the sugar and dozens of other products in the small gift shop. If you're looking to add lavender to your garden, they sell live plants once a year, usually near the end of May.

Stunning and inspiring story. A lovely stop in Pine, AZ. There’s a lovely lavender shop that’s perfect for shopping for natural handmade gifts and products. This historic farm planted lavender since it’s one of the only things elk won’t eat. A must see when you are in the Pine Strawberry area.

This was my second visit to the Lavender Farm in Pine, AZ, and it was just as magical as the first. The farm is a wonderful agritourism destination, known for its beautiful lavender fields and artisanal products. The Honey Stand in Pine, Arizona has a large selection of Pure, Raw, Arizona honey. You can also find a large varieties of pure fruit jams, jellies, butters, salsas and creams. Coming from Flagstaff via the Mormon Lake driving towards Mesa you will pass by Pine, the home of the Honey Stand. Definitely a picturesque town. The Honey Stand is located right by the road, impossible to miss. It is a little store filled with great products. We were given several different honeys to try. We enjoyed all of them. Although is difficult to decide which one to buy, as they all tasted delicious, we finally decided on a 3 lbs jar of the raw, unfiltered Mesquite honey. We also bought a jar of Dilled Garlic from Mountain Farms and a hand and body lotion of honey hemp seed. If you are driving through Pine, either coming or going, The Honey Stand is, in my opinion a must stop.

Stopped in while we were in town for lunch and hiking. The lady that helped us was friendly and helpful. Offered us samples to try, so delicious! Got some bumbleberry whipped honey, strawberry fig jam, and flavored honey sticks! Will stop in again when in town!

What happened to the cheerful ladies thay normally run the honey stand!? We certainly love the honey so much that we drive over an hour for it but man what an inattentive gentleman working this afternoon. Seemed as though we woke the man from his nap and that he was so bothered by hour presence that I had to be the first one to greet him "AFTER" he was ringing up our honey purchase at the register. I would highly suggest someone with a bit personable attitude to always be the face of your "Family owned Family Ran" business .

Absolutely loved this shop, the owner was super unfriendly, great customer service.. so good he never even talked to me, no pushy sales tactics, no rifraf felt right at home with a timeline of “we close in 15 min”… more shop owners should take on this no B.S. tactic. Ps the honey is phenomenal!!!

I grew up in Pine and visit there often, ALWAYS stopping to buy our favorite honey, Pine Wildflower. My husband stopped by and picked up our usual jar but we were very disappointed! It was not the usual rich, thick and flavorful. It was runny and tasteless. It breaks our heart but we won’t be back.

Tonto Natural Bridge State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Park built around the natural travertine bridge found in the 1800s for hikes, picnics & day trips.
Really cool spot to visit! We went in June and it was hot hiking into the canyon so make sure to bring lots of water if you plan on going in the summer. Also it can get slippery so be sure to bring good shoes or pack water shoes for treading on areas with water. Highly recommend to anyone looking for something to do during the day.

Absolutely stunning park. Trails are perfect length for a nature-filled workout without being too strenuous. An utterly ridiculous amount of beauty, where a lovely green forest and water meets the desert. Note: hike to the very end of every trail and I would recommend going in order. We did - it’s just spectacular how the trails were designed.

Very cool. The park is super nice. Staff was very helpful at the beginning to explain the options. We liked the first little waterfall hike down, and then went to all the viewpoints. Then, we hiked down into the arches. It was midweek at the end of the day, and so we had the place mostly to ourselves. Just beautiful. All the formations on the ceiling are really cool. Very slippery down there, so we didn't go through. A little tough hiking back up, but not bad. Saw almost everything in a couple hours. Just a neat place...!

Wonderful state park with completely unique views unlike anything I’ve seen in Arizona. Worth the trip. The only reason I put at 4 out of 5 is that $10 per person (not per car) is a bit high of a price. It is a smaller park one could enjoy in a couple of hours or half a day. Highly recommend just be aware of pricing.

Beautiful area with various trails to explore. It costs $10 per person over 14. They provided us with a pamphlet that detailed how long the trails would take round trip and difficulty level.

This is a beautiful state park with several different day use areas, trails, and overlook points. The natural bridge is amazing and the trails are moderately challenging.

Mother Nature really shows off on what she can do at this stunning natural wonder. A short hike to the bottom is definitely worth the uphill climb back up once you see the spectacle that was naturally created. Rocks can be very slippery if you decide to go under the natural bridge so be careful. Worth the visit

The State Park near Payson was a pleasant surprise. I'm glad I came across it. Being a solo traveler, I would have preferred to go earlier in the morning, but I arrived in Town in the afternoon. Park hours are 9-5pm which gives you plenty of time to hike the unpaved, more challenging trails. Temps were in the high 90°s so plenty of water is a must. Parents with children and ALL others! People HIKING UP THE TRAILS HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY. Stop, move to the side, and allow hikers to continue hiking up hill, then you proceed hiking down trail.
