Very well kept Memorial and Historical place! The staff were great! Very nice to talk to and enjoy the tour with. I enjoyed the tour and learning more about Sam and the family.

I had no idea who this man was, but how do I wish all current political figures emulated him. What a man. The house and furnishings are exquisite.
Alesia H — Google review
Excellent!, well preserved artifacts and historical information, with attention to detail and well worth the exploration! Very easy going and peaceful farm and historical house with well trained, personable staff.
Marsha P — Google review
I have of course heard of Sam Rayburn though his time in office was well before my time of paying attention to politics. Today, his name is associated with the Rayburn House Office Building, the congressional office building in Washington DC. Rayburn served as the 43rd Speaker of the House of Representatives, the record holder for the longest tenure in that role - 17 years (over three separate stints). He was the Representative from Texas' 4th District from 1913 to 1961. The Rayburn House in Bonham is a collection of news articles, memorabilia and several videos that describe the life and times of Speaker Rayburn. His huge library is also accessible. It is self-directed and easy to tour. Expect it to take between 30 and 60 minutes.
Bruce K — Google review
We really enjoyed the tour of the house. The tour guide was knowledgeable. So much history is there. Sam Rayburn was an amazing man. It's definitely worth seeing!!
Deb H — Google review
It was excellent to learn the history behind the man. Touring the house was amazing. My 10 year old granddaughter loved it and wanted to live there. Honestly I did too.
Janet B — Google review
Very interesting homestead museum. Lots of historical literature and live displays. Great place for young and old. I really enjoy it withy grand kids.
Giovanni F — Google review
I love this old fashioned house that belong to Sam Rayburn. All of the furniture, and clothing inside are Sam's, or replicas of what he and his family would have owned and worn. There is still an active vegetable garden outside in the exact spot where Sam's garden was. Go say "Hi" to Tom the Turkey, and Stinky the mule.

The library is gorgeous! The docent was very knowledgeable and then let us wander. Sam Rayburn was very involved in the planning and building of the library and the public is invited to use the books while there. The reproduction of his Washington office is very well done with many of the items from the office.

Hidden Gem of Texas History – Sam Rayburn Museum I was thoroughly impressed with my visit to the Sam Rayburn Museum. It’s an incredibly informative and well-curated tribute to one of Texas' most influential political leaders. The displays and historical recreations are top-notch—thoughtfully arranged and full of fascinating details that really bring Speaker Rayburn’s legacy to life. From his personal items to photographs and documents, every exhibit tells a piece of the story with clarity and respect. The staff were warm, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable. They answered questions with enthusiasm and added personal insights that enriched the experience even further. The museum is also very easy to get to, making it a perfect stop whether you're a local or just passing through. If you’re interested in American history, politics, or just enjoy a well-done museum, this one is absolutely worth your time. Highly recommended!

Small museum and library. Place won't take too much of your time. Don't forget to visit Sam Rayburn's house also in town (Bonham).

Great historical museum, however please take this property out of the hands of Briscoe and give it to someone who cares! They have let the exterior of the property go to hell. Falling down front porch, water feature that doesn't work and just general maintenance and landscaping. What a shame to let a congressional library for such a great man be left to fall to ruins. Not sure who can make this happen but please take this out of the Briscoe centers hands and give it to an organization that cares
Max A — Google review
This is a wonderful library and museum. Great and informative staff. Awesome to see the congressional records dating way back. Beautiful replica of his office too.

Fannin County Museum of History

Great visit here to learn lots about the history of the area. Whether you have a few minutes or a few hours, this stop is worth the time. One of my favorite things was the pictorial history of the courthouse. Friendly folks who will take the time to be sure you get the most out of your visit. Tell 'em Ressie sent ya! Side note: sneaky Geocache on the premises!
Ressie C — Google review
Fascinating history. This building is also a part of history! The museum was a train depot. This place holds everything from household items, a veterans section, Bonham celebrities, clothing, furniture, documents, fossils found in the area and even a plane! Definitely worth a visit!
Sandee C — Google review
This was an excellent experience! There is A LOT of local history to look at, you could spend hours here despite being a relatively small space. We had 4 children ages 6-12, and they loved it as well. We figured would lose interest quickly but they found many things they found interesting. Highlights for them were the fire truck, Jones Field exhibit and caboose. Besides the interesting artifacts of Fannin history, the employee there was very friendly and answered all our questions. All in all a great experience!
Evan P — Google review
Nice small town museum with interesting items on Bonham history.
MD M — Google review
Glenn Taylor gave us a personal tour of the caboose how awesome! If you are in Bonham check it out and don't forget to donate a few bucks!

Must have been professionally curated. Staff has internet sources and info as well as well-signed exhibits. Run from founding to about 50 years ago. Much, much better than typical.
John S — Google review
So I decided to me and her over to Bonhome today. Stopped at the museum wonderful people, great museum, full of local history, which I absolutely love. It’s so nice to see people, realizing that we have to save and preserve our history for our future generations so they can learn about where they come from and who they are . Had an absolutely lovely informal history lesson 😊 keep up the wonderful work!
Scott D — Google review
I love this museum! This place is so much bigger on the inside than the outside. It's full of incredible history; I could spend days going through here. There's an airplane inside here! Fannin County has seen plenty of activity over the years, and it's represented here. Katy, the friendly curator, clearly loves her work, and it's easy to see why. I can't begin to describe the extent of the collection. You'll have to see it for yourself. You'll be glad you did!

Bonham State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Park
Picturesque spot with a lake for swimming, fishing & canoeing, plus campsites & biking trails.
Bonham State Park is a hidden gem for nature lovers! Though small in size, it’s beautifully aligned with nature, offering a serene escape just a short drive away. The lake is ideal for boating, swimming, and kayaking, and there’s a scenic 1.5-mile trail that circles the water—perfect for a peaceful walk or casual hike. The park also features multiple flat trails, making it accessible for all levels. One of the highlights is the educational programs they host regularly. I attended an event at the T1 area, where the rangers taught us how to make simple meals using just cones and paraffin—very creative and practical for hikers! The park staff are incredibly professional and welcoming. They genuinely care about visitor experience and made sure everyone felt informed and comfortable. The facilities are well-maintained—clean restrooms, tidy surroundings, and a good amount of parking (with improvements still underway). It’s a great spot for a day trip or even a weekend getaway. Highly recommended for families, hikers, and anyone wanting to reconnect with nature. 🌳🌊🌞
Surendran N — Google review
This is small park as rv sites goes but it has plenty of trails for hiking or biking and the lake for fishing. Staff was helpful. Bring your own fishing bait.
Scott S — Google review
Such a great place to camp! We stayed two nights for our Anniversary. Staff is great and camp ground is beautiful. We were able to ride our bikes on the main road and hiked several trails. The hiking trails are very well marked. This was our second visit and we’ll definitely be back soon.
Walt M — Google review
With our annual parks pass, we try to visit as many parks as we can, and this one is a new favorite. The drive out here is pretty easy, all paved roads. It isn't a huge park, but it is a wonderful park with weathered trees, bicycle and hiking trails, plus picnic area, tent camping, and swimming. You can bring your kayak or paddle board, floatie toys, and water wings. On one far edge of the lake, away from the busy beach, there is a single bench where you can sit a spell and / or meditate. This park is truly lovely.
Ice Q — Google review
Nice sites of a little closely spaced. Very well kept by a fair number of rangers/staff. Hicking trails were maintained and fairly well marked. Just too bad my visit was during a burn ban.
Jimmy H — Google review
I love this place, I grew up in bonham and the state park has been a big part of my life growing up. No\ I have a little one I want to see him enjoy this beautiful park. It is an incredibly clean park, even the water is clear. Waist deep you can see your feet! That's rare for Texas lakes. I have known for a long time that there were hiking trails out there but I really had no idea how nice they were untill a birthday camping trip we took last weekend. It's not a very big lake at all. It's almost in the "big pond" category. So I never imagined that the hiking would be more than a beaten path to the water 10' from the little road that encompasses the lake. I was wrong because they are some of the best trails I've been on. A little confusing download a hiking trail app. There are a lot of unmarked paths that are not shown on the parks office map. Getting lost is probably inevitable but no worries because the trails are long but only cause they meander around. You won't find yourself miles in the brush turned around in a tight spot. No dangerous getting lost scenarios. Camp sites are beautiful and kind of close but not so much that it takes the fun out of it. I will say it is a little on the, early to bed early to rise, mentality. My family likes staying up till midnight and sometimes later. We were constantly having to keep lights off and noise down so as not to disturb anyone. I know we did though, so if you are looking to hang out and meet fun young people. This isn't where to go. If you want a quiet friendly clean and restful weekend in nature this is the place for you.
Josh K — Google review
Nice group camping area with plenty of picnic benches, fire rings, lots of shade. Bathrooms are a bit of walk from group camping area but not too bad. Other loops have close proximity to bathrooms.
Sreemathi R — Google review
Tents sites are really close together as well as the camper dump station is right across from the tent sites so you can smell the waste also the swimming area is small, but the staff made the experience fun and well worth it. We went for Father's day 3 adults and 4 kids and they let the kids build a bird house which was such an awesome idea and a great experience for me and my son. We had a blast. It was our first time at this park. But honestly I would go back and just get the one of the two tent sites away from the dump station lol. The learning experience with the park ranger made this park a big plus as well as the cleanliness and awesome attitude of the staff

We didn't get to see the museum, because it was closed on Sunday. However we did get to see the cemetery and buildings. Very neat historical place to see. Many people dont know about the Oklahomas part in the Civil War.

No wait during the week! Check website or call ahead for museum availability, as they rely on volunteer staff. Museum entry was free, but donations were accepted. Staff on-site were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! Grounds were well-kept and there was plenty of parking available during my visit. It’s worth stopping in for a quick visit to learn a little bit about Atoka’s history! School groups & other large group tours may be accommodated! Call ahead to schedule any large tours. This would be a fun visit for anyone traveling through, and a great spot to enjoy lunch outdoors after a tour.

Absolutely loved this place with all the memories and items of our history and atoka's past and friendly staff i will be visiting this place again for sure ...
Brandon S — Google review
A decent amount of cool historical artifacts mixed with homespun Oklahoma kitsch from days gone by. Worth the visit, 20 to 40 minutes is probably plenty of time unless you are especially inquisitive. Sign the guestbook and make sure you ask to hear the record player.

Hidden in plain sight. Just pull off the highway. Definitely worth stopping (and thinking.)

This was the neatest place to ring some big bells and learn little about its history. Really wish I'd been there when the museum was open hopefully I can pass through again sometime when it is and spend a little more time there.

I travel for work and stop at local businesses to let them know when the blood mobile will be in the area. Brian is one of the kindest people I have ever met, even though I usually stop to pet on Smokey the friendly store cat. I always find something when I go, one of my favorite antique stores around!!!
Brandy B — Google review
Really cute and fun store with lots of hidden treasures. The owner is super nice and as a bonus there is a cat there that is super friendly and cute. I will definitely be returning to the store!
Tracey S — Google review
We were in Honey Grove, Texas on other business and spotted this hidden gem of an antique store, Eagerly Sought. Walked in and found the place went on forever. It's huge! And literally had everything. I recognized so much stuff from my youth that it made me a bit homesick for days gone by. So happy we found this place and we'll be back!
Steven M — Google review
Absolutely awesome place. Love to come in and Smokey and Brian are always eager to help you with anything! Go there for anything that will bring back the good days!!!
Nathan — Google review
Best shop I've ever been into. Love the little town setting of it. Brian (owner) has I would say anything you could think of in that place. If you grew up with it he's got it. Prices are very reasonable he doesn't price gouge on anything. You will leave there feeling like family. Worth the drive. Stop by if anything just have a look around. I'll be surprised if you leave empty handed.
Poom — Google review
It was more than I could've ever imagined! I absolutely adored this store! I had no idea how much treasure he had tucked away inside! I love the themed rooms and truly enjoyed seeing things from my childhood!
Shannon S — Google review
Brian is always so willing to take the time to answer questions, and to help me locate the items that may fit my requests. The themed rooms help narrow my search, but he always knows were to find a few more gems.
Sandra M — Google review
A huge thank you to Brian and his staff at Eagerly Sought as they conducted an estate sale for our family and delivered as promised. They went above and beyond with the process. We would highly recommend Eagerly Sought.

Very clean park. Very clean restrooms. Friendly staff in office. Other visitors were courteous and not loud. A relaxing time. Decent shore fishing. The bunk beds in the cabins are twin size. Bring some blankets to make them soft. The window unit a/c and heaters work very well. A good experience. Great trails to walk.

We stayed in Post Oak campsites. The campsites were well maintained, but comfort stations could use a little work. We were surprised at the lack of quality of the showers and no hand soap at the sinks after staying at other state parks. Very nice trails and beautiful views of the lake. Dog friendly. Very friendly staff in the office and when encountering them around the park. We would return to this park to camp again.
Rayanna R — Google review
Loved our stay. Camp Sites are beautiful, level in Buster. Loved the lake and you are able to ride bikes. The best hiking though is 25 minutes away at the natural area. It's fewer miles but you travel slow on the backrooms to it. It's WELL worth it though. Beautiful scenic trails.
Julie D — Google review
One of the cleanest state parks I’ve stayed at. Beautiful campgrounds and campsites. Staff at the park office was outstanding. Can’t wait to visit again soon.
G J — Google review
1st time and will definitely be back. Very well maintained, clean, quiet and peaceful smaller park. RV sites are flat and treed enough so you have some privacy. Bathrooms clean. Really tremendous terrain and rock formations. We fished off the dock and caught some good sized sunfish ( we catch and release). The office staff are super friendly and helpful. No ice or worms at office but there is a small store just outside the park entrance. A couple of local boys sell firewood from a self serve stand in front of their home about a mile from the gate- $5 for 10 pieces.

We usually make a weekend out of McGee twice a year. We love this little hidden gem. The water is clean and perfect and the huts are great to get away and they have a fireplace and heat and air unit but no bathroom but they have one a short walk near by. The hiking trail is always fun. Huts are $50 a night also.

Great trails! Be aware!! We (my two small dogs and myself) ran into a pack of about 8-12 wild boar! Eeeek! Lots of rooting in the muddy ground gave us a heads up that they were around. But WOW! Trails were awesome!

Small, quite, and very friendly little place. Quit a bit of educational information to read about the area. Being able to feed some deer isn't bad either.

Awesome place to stop in and visit. They have deer you can look at and you can purchase corn inside to feed them. My kids love this place. You can also rent this place for events. Monica is the sweetest and most helpful person. Stop in and visit!

Next to "Little Peoples Park." Log cabin-style bldg & some rugged benches on the porch. Behind the Museum & between "Little Peoples Park," there's a lot for rehabilitating deer. The deer obviously anticipate treats, the way they follow every move - like a puppy under the dinner table. Inside a plethora of cool wildlife handiwork & displays, including stuffed animals, mounted antlers / racks, merchandise & carvings for your learning pleasure. 🤠 Wildlife Heritage Center Museum folks are courteous, very helpful & frequently hold "mini-classes" on a variety of local wildlife & their lifestyles. 🐾 The interior is orderly & well-maintained. 🦆 Admission is free! 🐾 🦌 🦃 🦜 🦆 🦅 🦉 🦝 🐇 🐿

Sam Bell Maxey House State Historic Site

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
Built in 1868, this High Victorian Italianate mansion was once the home of Senator Sam Bell Maxey.
We had an amazing time! The tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions it's definitely worth going to!
Deb H — Google review
The house is listed on the Register of Historic Places for its architectural significance. Built in 1868, the house belonged to Sam Bell Maxey and his wife. Most of the furniture and other household artifacts are original to the house! Tours are available for $5. It is well worth the visit! This house was the first in Paris to have an indoor bathroom! It narrowly escaped the path of the last major fire that engulfed and destroyed downtown, making it a sort of period time capsule.
Alesia H — Google review
The house is beautiful. I liked the history of the family. At the entrance/ kitchen area there is a huge clam shell that one of the Maxey boys brought home from college. I've never seen a clam shell that big. I attached a photo. My favorite room was the library. All original books and photos owned by Mr. Maxey. Upstairs, we saw the vintage toys. The little stuffed lion is adorable. I also liked the drum and puppets. The widow's walk, balcony, and front porch were closed and currently under reconstruction. The tour guide was very nice and knew a lot about the Maxey family. Afterwards, we visited Evergreen Cemetery. The Maxey family is buried directly across from the saint wearing cowboy boots.
Katrina M — Google review

Evergreen Cemetery

Cemetery
Sights & Landmarks
I was there to photograph the statue of Jesus wearing cowboy boots, and the Maxey family. Both are directly across from one another.
Katrina M — Google review
I hadn't been to Evergreen Cemetery to visit many graves of my loved ones for over 20 years--due to distance. I was making a trip to Paris. I called the field office to find out exactly where the graves were located. The man was extremely rude. I had him look up three relatives and then I said "I have three more". He said "I've already closed the book". I was floored. When I got to the cemetery I found the plots and street markers are in very poor condition. It took me all day to find the graves. Then I was flabbergasted. The cemetery is in very poor condition--tombstones knocked over, vases loose on the ground. Many, many markers are leaning. The ground over my Aunt's grave was so cracked you could see almost see the casket or vault. I grew up in Paris, and Evergreen was known all over for it's beauty. It is now in pathetic shape. The mowers had hit tombstones. I was over a city owned cemetery in the Hill Country and we never allowed our cemetery to have turned over stones--we contacted the people. I have two burial plots in Evergreen, but I'm not sure now I want to be buried there. The board or whoever is in charge needs to take care of this--this is a perpetual care cemetery--but it is being ran like a private for cash entity. I'm ashamed to see it in this shape.
TheGoatlady50 — Google review
Evergreen Cemetery is on S Church (TX-19 / 24) just inside Loop 286, but the Field Office facilities are located at its northern boundary, between Farm Rd 1507 (a.k.a. New Jefferson Rd) & Evergreen St, the north-most gravel street within Evergreen Cemetery. On this block there is a: ① Residence ② Residential Garage ③ Evergreen Field Office ④ 3 Bay Workshop / maintenance garage ☗ Between the Field Office & Workshop there's mowing, road maintenance, digging & hauling equipment. Regardless of equipment, these caretakers do a SUPERB job of maintaining this massive perpetual care cemetery. ✅ Good job folks ‼️
Mac B — Google review
Was passing through Paris and stopped in Evergreen Cemetery to visit my grandparents and could not remember or find their headstones. Mr. Blassingame the cemetery manager was most kind, friendly and helpful, providing not only a map with directions also some of the 154 years of history on Evergreen Cemetery. Thank You JT it was a pleasure meeting you and visiting Evergreen.
Jay D — Google review
Have you seen Jesus in wearing cowboy boots? Paris Texas has Him wearing them. You have to come an see Him. If not sure how to find Him stop in an ask Jim Blassingame. He is such a friendly man an can tell you about Confederate shoulder buried in Evergreen also.

Eiffel Tower Paris Texas

Sights & Landmarks
Monuments & Statues
This American version of the famous Paris landmark stands at 65 ft., topped by a cowboy hat.
Everyone should visit this place and read everything. It's a beautiful and emotional memorial. The Paris Texas Eiffel Tower with the Cowboy Hat is awesome, too. There is no wait, and you do not have to pay to go in, but they do have a box where you can donate.

We passed by town of Paris on our way to broken bow. What a Sweet little town and effile tower with cowboy hat on the top. Perfect Texas effile tower. We loved the veterans museum near by. Must visit.
H D — Google review
Fun little cheesy tourist spot to stop by for a quick photo op. We Texans enjoy being silly from time to time and the Tower does a truly fantastic job of displaying this. There are other true gems to check out while stopping to snap your Pic. The Veterans Memorial next to it is one of the best I've visited and well worth your solemn time. Just on the other side of the parking lot is one of the entrances to the Trail du Paris and I encourage you to enjoy at least a short walk along it - it is very well maintained and not something you will find in many places.

Great little side-of-the-road attraction to take a picture next to. Also on the same grounds was a military memorial that recognized all of the military branches. Really great memorial that also had a couple of tanks and a Cobra helicopter on display. You could spend an hour or so there if you wanted to look and read all the plaques/stones.
Brent D — Google review
Great little stop, next to an awesome war memorial. The Eiffel Tower is pretty cool. As I was leaving, three people were taking my picture underneath it so it must be popular!
Beth C — Google review
My sister and I road tripped to AZ from FL, and we took a long route to see extra sites, including Eiffel Tower, Paris, TX. It was underwhelming but also an experience worth the visit! I wish there were souvenir shops that we could’ve bought a souvenir, but none! We did go into town to eat and have a Sundae in Paris, that was cute. We had to drive a lil out of the way to find a shop I could buy a souvenir from.
Stacy M — Google review
Since Paris is so East, many dont know there's a lot of charm in this town. Its the perfect distance away from the cities. This picture was taken after attending an members only event. It's the perfect picture to remind myself I can have a Lil vacation but remain in Texas! 😁🤠

Red River Valley Veterans Memorial Museum

Veterans organization
Sights & Landmarks

Finishing up a long road trip and having seen Veteran's Memorials both good and bad. This one ranks as one of the best I have seen across the country. It covers quite a bit of our history and service members and the only one I've seen that recognized Gold Families. Well done, with nice displays and a lot of plaques and memorials. The memorial outside sums it up best: "May it remind us that our country must always be defended against forces that would deny us our freedom."
Jeff S — Google review
Patriotic & appreciative. That’s how I felt after leaving this memorial. Reading the many list of names of those who served who lived in Paris & nearby was neat. So many local folks served, especially for WW2. Interesting how little served after 2001. Or maybe it’s not updated?
Marie — Google review
Never better than a 4 until they take the donors' names and board member's names out. This isn't about them! (And the people that do the grass, I will not even say the name because it shouldn't be in there either. ) As a Vet of the Marines and Army, I truly enjoy seeing places like this. It's a nice little spot here in Paris, Texas. Free to walk in and look around. Stop by and see it if you are in the area and the Paris, Texas Eiffel Tower. Mich smaller than the real number. Lol Cheers No, Freedom isn't free!

Very well maintained and attention to the drills in the landscaping. Was a very humbling experience.

This is the most well established memorial I have seen. The gates are almost like walking into hero heaven. The information is vast and there are so many names on bricks and stone, it makes you appreciate all the brave heroes that fought for this country. It looks like it is still growing, maybe another display to be in the back. It was a great way to spend a pre-Independence Day.

Contemporary space offering slot machines, blackjack, live shows, a bar/grill, buffet & lodging.
I had an amazing time at Choctaw Casino last week! Me and my friend both hit a grand prize just 30 minutes apart — still can’t believe it! Honestly, I thought they just wanted to take all our money, but they actually let us win fair and square enough LOL 😆. The energy was so fun, the hotel room was super clean, and the food at the Grand Restaurant was absolutely delicious. Everything about the trip just made it such a great experience. I’m already planning my next visit! 😍

We had a great stay here on our way from New Orleans to Tulsa from a cruise vacation. We were a bit early and accidentally booked a smoking room, but the young lady that checked us in was so quick and friendly to get that fixed for us and our room was ready in just a few minutes. I didn't get her name unfortunately, because I was so tired from the trip, (she wore glasses and had her hair up...) but thank you again for taking care of us! Our room was very large, clean and well done with everything we needed. The bed was especially amazing as far as size and comfort. Being our 1st time here, we decided to get a Players Club Reward card and met such a sweet and friendly young lady named Dansha! She put a smile on our faces too! Definitely want to come back and spend more than one night here soon! 🤩

The daily rate for a room plus resort fee and taxes will run you about $100 a night. Very reasonable price. The Cove, which is an outdoor bar by the pool was. Neat addition. You can reserve cabanas with TV around the pool. Really neat setup and cool place for a get away. Of course the casino was a great edition.

Went to CHILI'S for lunch. Hostess was great. Food was super good. Waitress was awful. Never said welcome. Never asked to refill our drinks. Only checked on us as we were about to leave. Didn't welcome us back. The tip was a mandatory thing...next time I'll bring cash so I can control if I tip or not.

I travel. This is the worst casino I have been to. It is very dirty and good luck if you need any help because " It's not my job" Oh and let's talk about how they steal your change. You can't put a change ticket in a machine or a payout machine and there is no one in the cashier box. On Friday night hundreds of dollars in charge was being taken from customers and there is no way to get it back. I will definitely never come back and I am rethinking my Duriant trip since they are under the same name. Do better and stop stealing from your customers 🤬

Standard old style Casino resort. Newer slot machines. Decor is older. Smell a little musty. Did not detect oxygen being pumped in like most casinos do, I like the oxygen gives you a boost. You can sign up for their players card and get free $10 credit. **Smoking throughout the resort except one small area with slot machines, your room. The rest is smoking. If you have asthma or allergies do not go. If you smoke this is the place for you. **Water pressure was very low. **The Resort website boasts the East Tower recently renovated but the carpet and furniture was very worn, had an older shower /tub combo w a shower curtain not as advertised. (photos included) **This Resort price gouges on Friday -Sunday charging 3x the normal rate. Definately not worth the price. ** We prepaid for a Deluxe King Room West Tower online. We arrived the front desk at checkin refused to give us the room we paid for. Put us in the older East Tower ( definitely not renovated fully) in a regular King room. Claimed the resort was fully booked and our room, that we paid for in advance, was not available. Politely said our other choice is we could cancel if we didn’t like it. We also had tickets to see a show the same night and we drove 7 hours. Headliner was Rob Schneider. The clerk told us to contact the 3rd party we reserved the room through. Front desk clerk doubled down & said we should have reserved directly with the resort. Why? We paid for it when we booked. Hello? We called the service we used online, Priceline. They called the resort front desk and the front desk told Priceline we could have the West Tower deluxe king room for an up-charge. Wait…. What??! Aren’t they unavailable. The front desk clerks, all 3, got upset stating notes were being added to their reservation on their pc. Through corporate? Do not know they did not expand on it. Possibly Priceline because of them failing to honor a prepaid booking? They did not like it though. The greed is just astonishing at this resort. Priceline gave us a discount when the hotel refused to honor our prepaid booking. Good on Priceline.

The Frisco Depot Museum is housed in an old Frisco railroad building, offering a treasure trove of history about the railroads that shaped the nation. The museum showcases the role of Oklahoma Indian territories in developing the success of the railroads and serves as a reminder of American craftsmanship and ingenuity. Volunteers and funding are needed to support this rich historical site, which is a must-see for anyone interested in exploring the country's railroad heritage.
We have the worst possible luck finding these little museums open, or rather arriving while they’re open. But we’re able to get a few photos and hope to come see it again when it is open.

Excellent place to take kids and teens to learn about how Hugo became Hugo. If it weren't for the multiple rail lines crossing here at this point we probably wouldn't be here now. They also have county and local memorabilia on display. Donations are accepted but not required.

As a Hugo native I am proud that my hometown has such a high-quality museum. Great attention to detail, a huge array of exhibits and that cozy, old feeling a museum should have. Do not miss it while in southeastern Oklahoma.

The website showed that this museum was open at 10 am on Thursday. The electric light-up sign in the window showed that it was open at 10 am on Thursday. At 10:15 am on Thursday it was most definitely closed. I tried calling the number on the website and the phone just rang about 15 times before I hung up. I drove 45 minutes with my preschool grandchildren and we were greatly disappointed.

I recently visited Mt Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, Oklahoma, and I was amazed by the unique section dedicated to former circus members. This was a very special place and I felt a sense of peace and reverence as soon as I arrived. The grounds were well-maintained and there were plenty of benches for visitors to sit and reflect. I highly recommend visiting this incredible place and paying respects to the former circus members who are buried there.

Beautiful, well kept setting that was perfect for learning about and celebrating a lifestyle different than our own. Many tokens of affection left at even the oldest of headstones show that there is so much love that went into Showmans Rest.We will definitely be revisiting this amazing place of rest again soon.
Twizted G — Google review
I know it sounds kind of creepy to rate a cemetery. However The Mount Olivet Cemetery is a most unusual experience. Not only the fact of a very well kept grounds with lots of shaded areas, It is the resting place for many Circus Performers and workers. It is called the Showman's Rest. There the tombstones are large and unique with etching and photos memorializing the person and families.
Harold P — Google review
The entire cemetery is well kept and easy to navigate. Showman’s Rest is fascinating and their creativity still appears in the stones and engravings. Far more interesting than I thought it would be.
Brenda L — Google review
Really? A cemetery on a list of must-see places? Yep. Even if you just see the "Showmen's Rest" part, for circus folks, this is worth a stop. The graves are ornate, and in such a lovely, peaceful setting, it's no wonder that people are dying to get in!

The Endangered Ark Foundation offers a unique experience to interact with retired circus elephants. Visitors can feed, love on, and take pictures with the elephants after an educational presentation. The foundation also provides covered wagon rides for feeding the elephants and has a gift shop offering elephant-themed items. Additionally, there are cabins available for overnight stays at varying prices. Accessible options are provided for those with difficulty walking, making it inclusive for all visitors.
Truly a once in a lifetime experience that I will be forever grateful for attending. We were able to feed, bath and pet the elephants. When discussing with a keeper how my mother, who is passed, had an affection for an elephant at our local zoo growing up named Bunny, he kindly took me to their elephant named Bunny, took down a fence and called her over. I was able to pet her and feed her carrots while my wife took photos. So educational and magnificent to be so close to these massive animals. Thank you again for kindness and for sharing your incredible animals with us.
Jeffery S — Google review
Amazing place! The elephants are so well taken care of and have plenty of acreage to roam! My husband and I visited from Oregon and we don’t go to the Portland zoo anymore because of how miserable the animals seem in small cages with barely any room to move around. This was extremely refreshing and a great experience! A little on the spendy side but 100% of it goes to feeding and care of the elephants. Tour guide was great too!
Virginia — Google review

Excellent place to visit, all proceeds go to cause. Very nice tour. You learn about elephants 🐘 get up close, feed them, touch. Most educational. They had a pumpkin festival as well. 😃
Nose2wind — Google review
The experience is definitely lacking something but can't put my finger on it other than the lack of passion for the animals. The workers are all kind and go through the motions wonderfully to provide a decent experience for visitors but for whatever reason it left a weird feeling in me when we left. We were very rushed through with only a brief minute, maybe two, with the elephants. Hand them a carrot then next, next, next... was way too impersonal for both guests and elephants. There was a brief introduction to elephants with a demonstration of foot care and basic tricks then a trailer ride through the grounds to a spot in the back where we each got to feed them one carrot then back on the trailer and the $50 tour was over. Wouldn't do again and wouldn't necessarily recommend.

This is a hidden gem! Great park rangers, great scenery, even electricity at some of the tent sites! This is comparable to Lake Murray but smaller. Recommended!

The lake is pleasant, the RV sites are nice. But the cabins were NOT clean. We rented 2 and they were covered in cobwebs and dust. Floors were not cleaned, cigarettes all over the floor. We rented a shelter for Saturday but had to go get the ranger because there were people camping there. You might want to check it all out before planning a family event.

We had a great weekend. Campsite 18 which is across street from lake. Great view. Verizon wireless had 3 bars but could not deliver 1 meg bandwidth. ATT was better friendly staff. Very helpful. Don't bother hauling firewood. Talk to park staff they sell wood. Do this to prevent spread of wood destroying insects.

Nice place to come to and enjoy the family with, we stayed in one of the cabins and I must say that it was fun. The park is clean, had a swim area. The fishing was rough only caught three small fish, but saw big fish jumping all over. I will definitely be back to the park in the future.

The Museum of the Red River is a captivating destination for history enthusiasts and families alike. As you meander through its winding halls, you'll encounter an impressive array of artifacts that span from prehistoric times to contemporary pieces, showcasing the rich artistic heritage and contributions of Native Americans. While much of the collection features items from around the globe, there are also local historical exhibits that provide insight into the region's past.
A wonderful museum, I highly recommend visiting! So much history and artifacts from all over the world. They have a massive collection of woven baskets. There are some fun, interactive things for the kids
Ashlie D — Google review
The Museum of the Red River is a great place to get some history of the area. The museum is somewhat winding with a lot of rooms with exhibits. There are many exhibits and I recommend that you use a paper guide which they furnish to get around. The majority of the exhibits are not local but there is a lot of history with those. There is some local history and exhibits but not much. There is a child's activity room where they can color and also a section where the children can weave a rug or place mat. Admission is free as well.

Very cool and informative museum. I hope they grow and expand. Some really neat pieces. The kids of course loved the dinosaur skeleton.

The only gripe I have was the drum that is there for the kids to pound on. On the flip side it was interactive for the kids to have some hands on learning tools. There is a whole big room dedicated to hands on learning aimed at the youngsters and I actually enjoyed that as much as the more serious stuff. Overall a cool collection of local artifacts as well as pieces from donors from all around the world. The gift shop has some neat stuff, and for a free museum we definitely bought souvenirs to give back.

Mountain Fork Brewery is a cozy local pub that specializes in brewing their own beers and providing classic pub food. Visitors can enjoy a brewery tour to learn more about the beer-making process from knowledgeable staff members, although there have been some reports of understaffing issues causing delays. Despite this, guests can still appreciate the lively atmosphere and watch bartenders expertly craft drinks at the bar.
We stop just to try out their selection of microbrewery and were not disappointed. Clean, neat we had only chips with queso and salsa. Love the ciders. We will return for more!

All the pizza was great from the simple one-topping sausage or pepperoni to the works. The pizza is thin, which we like, but I know some like deep dish. They may have it, but we didn't check. They did not skimp on the toppings on the work. I could only eat two slices with all that was on it. They sell their own beer, which we tried their Freedom Pack (variety). It was good. Our preference was the Blonde or Pale, but they had darker options. Come try out this local treasure.

Came here 10/14/25. Pizza is solid, with a gluten free option. Pretzel bites with beer cheese is delicious. Great play area for the kids. Beer is as good as anywhere with good variety. Cocktail options as well are a plus. Checked all the boxes for my family.

Stayed in Broken Bow over the weekend with my family, and my brother and I enjoy ourselves a little brewery. Decide to take a trip not too far from our cabin and stopped by Mountain Fork Brewery. Love the atmosphere, the servers were great at the bar, and helped us select our two flights. I will say the prices for the flights was great, other brewery in town, charged a little more, which I won’t say a name. But I’m glad we got to enjoy some nice cold before heading back to Texas. My favorite was the Peach Snake. If you’re in town stop by and pay them a visit.

For the last day of my family's stay. I personally went in to have a couple of glasses of MFB 9.0 and a small pepperoni pizza and it was a great combination!! The pizza was done throughout and for the couple of days I was there, I tried the MFB 9 and the Crumpet. Both are dark beers and I enjoyed them both even if I don't drink beer very much. Veronica was my waitress/bartender and she was great!! I tried and enjoyed the canned beers at the cabin we stayed.

After our bourbon tasting next door, we wanted something easy and chill for dinner, and this spot was perfect — we could just walk over, which was a huge plus since we didn’t want to drive. 😂 From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a super friendly hostess who guided us to the bar for the quickest service. Haley, our bartender, was phenomenal! She was so friendly, fast, and genuinely on top of it. She recommended the blonde beer for me (which was delicious!) and made my husband Eric an incredible old fashioned — she even let me watch so I could recreate it at home. We ordered the Toby Keith pizza, and holy smokes, it was amazing. Haley even hooked us up with a bottle of ranch so we didn’t have to get up — talk about great service! 😂 After dinner, we moved out to the patio for live music, and Trophy Husbands absolutely killed it! They played all the best cover songs and had such fun energy. Between the great food, drinks, service, and music, it was just an all-around perfect night. Highly recommend! 🍕🍺🎶

We had a great experience here. The drinks were great and fairly priced. Maryah took the time to get our drink orders, asked our preference and tried to make concoctions to our tasting. 🙂👍

Walked in yesterday and ordered at the counter. The girl taking our order was SUPER nice! 10/10 service. The atmosphere was great, my boyfriend liked the beer as well. I will say tho that the pizza was terrible😭😭😭 it literally looked like frozen pizza dough…. I’ve made pizza better than the pizza I had here. For $30 that’s crazy. Came out super quick too

Always friendly and affordable and always clean! Never had a bad time at this movie theater
Jessica H — Google review
Wonderful experience. The staff were kind and courteous, from what we saw the theater was kept very well clean. Best buttered popcorn I've ever had at a theater. The prices are very fair compared to other theaters. We saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and while they had some slight audio/visual troubles, mostly audio, it was very slight and didn't come close to ruining the experience. All in all a wonderful experience, and will definitely be back!

Only warm theater I’ve been in. Hard to find a seat without popcorn/candy/spills/oil/trash in it. Staff were nice though and screen/audio was good quality! It is the only theater i saw town so that is awesome to have.
Whitney S — Google review
Great little movie theatre!! Love the 90s nostalgia with the purple shag walls and starry carpet! The seating was comfortable, and the picture was great! Not sure if the sound could've been better or if people were just too talkative. Will be back again soon!

Nice Small Town Theatre, Friendly young ladies selling tickets and concessions. Seats were big and comfortable. One BIG problem: 7:15 movie didnt begin until after 7:45 due to projection issues. And after waiting that long we were still made to watch the local advertising before the previews and before the movie. They didn't offer passes for next movie, or popcorn or anything for this significant inconvenience. Wish that would have been handled better! Enjoyed King Kong once the movie began! Popcorn was fresh and buttery, too!

Wine bar
Girls Gone Wine is a charming winery and gift shop located in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. The boutique winery offers a convivial atmosphere where visitors can enjoy locally produced wines made from fruits like blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries. The tasting room provides a daily selection of wines for guests to sample. Additionally, the winery features a kitschy gift shop with an array of gifts and wine-related items.
Such a fun place. I highly recommend the wine tasting. I don’t know if there was one glass that we did not love. I could have bought one of each. The staff made the experience so fun. When you are finished drinking, you can shop in there store. This was such a fun stop on our girls trip.

So Girls Gone Wine is a staple every time we visit Oklahoma. This recent visit was maybe my 5th or 6th time there. We were very excited as we bragged about this place to 2 ladies that had never been to the cabins in Oklahoma!! I was excited to see all the additions. Sadly to say, we were disappointed! The lady's seemed rushed and almost annoyed that our party was large. They were not warm, engaging and pleasant as my prior visits. Our wine tasting was rushed and she did not crack one smile! When she shared the story about the inspiration behind the Friends bottle , she emphasized that it was a "white woman" that worked there and lost her battle with cancer! We were touched by the story without the need to hear the ethnicity! I also heard Them yell at another party to get back until they called for them. Then we asked the bartender to take our picture since she had NO ONE at the bar and she was visibly annoyed with the request. We just left! I am sooo disappointed but it's great to see that other wineries have popped up since our last visit. The culture has really changed there.
Jazzy M — Google review
Wish we could give it 6 stars!! This was the highlight of our girls' weekend, and our little table of 3 was handled with as much importance and attention as the table of 8 bachelorettes or the table of 18 they hosted before us. The charcuterie boards were amazing and the staff fun and knowledgeable. We never felt rushed and had such a blast shopping and laughing in the gift shop afterwards. Cannot recommend enough - these ladies made it such a fun afternoon!

We dropped in to Girls Gone Wine not knowing anything about it. We enjoyed the wine tasting & loved learning about how the winery came to be, how they make their wine, & how they donate part of the proceeds to charity. The wine was delicious & reasonably priced, the employee who served us very helpful and friendly, & the items in the gift shop were fun and not too expensive. We'll visit again when we're in Broken Bow!!
J H — Google review
Just GO!! Women owned + operated. Quite an experience, they offer a free wine sampling followed by a choice to purchase a glass or bottle. Offers outdoor seating and a gift shop with creative selections

We went wine tasting and it was interesting. I enjoyed it a lot. It was just me and my husband. The decorations were so cute and it was a good atmosphere. I really enjoyed the store afterwards. Me and my husband got some really cute stuff! Their seasonings are also amazing and I can’t wait to go back for more

Been here on more than one occasion. On my last visit, Rachel, our wine connoisseur, did a fantastic job in helping us select the best wines for my wife and I. She was super helpful and very knowledgeable. I will be back again. Thanks so much for an amazing visit.

Outdoor Activities
Hochatown Rescue Center & Petting Zoo offers a unique experience for animal lovers. Visitors can interact with a variety of animals, including rabbits, donkeys, pigs, goats, horses, raccoons, and skunks. The center also serves as a wildlife rehabilitation facility. Guests have the opportunity to feed the animals and receive guidance from staff during their visit. While the zoo may not be large in size, it provides an intimate setting for animal encounters.
We had such a great time. The animals were super friendly and a bunch of them came right up to us. Most of them seem pretty happy and at peace there. Everyone that was working there was really friendly to us and you could tell they cared about the animals. Love that it’s a place for some wild animals to rehabilitate before being sent back to their natural habitat. I’d love if there was a website or some way I could donate as we don’t live in the area and wouldn’t be able to come back on a regular basis. Thank yall for what you do for these animals!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Such a fun and heartwarming experience! The animals here are incredibly friendly — you can feel how well they’re cared for the moment you walk in. I even formed a quick little bond with one of the birds, which absolutely made my day! 💕 The staff was knowledgeable, welcoming, and loved sharing stories about the animals. You can tell they truly care about what they do. If you’re anywhere near Hochatown, this place is a must-visit. It’s fun, educational, and full of heart. ❤️🐦

We were in Broken Bow, Ok for a girl's trip and wanted something fun but cheap to do. We decided on the Petting Zoo and I'm so glad we did. Everyone in my group loved the petting zoo. Very fun and the staff were all sooo sweet! Cutest animals 😍
S D — Google review
A really wide variety of animals. Very impressive. From petting a kangaroo to a camel to deer fawns it was good for the kids and the adults. Only complaint would be the strong urea (pee) smell in the baby barn but that's it. Very passionate staff wanting to share and educate about all the animals. Reasonable admission and it went to a good cause! Wonderful employees!
Matthew V — Google review
We almost didn’t go because I wasn’t sure the cost would be worth the experience. Boy, was I wrong! I am SO glad we went and it was worth every dollar. The experience for my kids was amazing and I felt I was contributing to something very worthwhile. Lots of neat animals you can get right up and personal with plus you are able to pet/feed most of them! It’s quite large and we spent an easy two hours there and really only wrapped it up because of baby’s nap time. I am so glad we went and plan to visit again next time with our older kids too!
Mandi S — Google review
First time ever in this wonderful Town! My kids loved the petting zoo!! Owner and staff members were very friendly!! Will definitely come back! My kiddos enjoyed every second of it!! Can't wait to visit again!!
Lori R — Google review
I loved seeing all the animals. However I felt the living conditions of some of the animals was less than ideal. And the cup of food I bought for $5 appeared to be more like bird seed than animal feed. Some of the staff members were very knowledgeable and helpful. I am hoping that all those animals truly are being cared for to the best extent possible.
Shirley W — Google review
This was so much fun! We loved on all the deer and the birds were so much fun. They would talk back. Think we played with the birds more than anything and we loved the deer! Really is a good place to get some animal love and great energy!

FishTales Winery & Vineyard is a must-visit spot in Broken Bow, offering free wine tastings and a delightful bistro. Visitors rave about the friendly and knowledgeable staff, with special mentions for Jin, who goes above and beyond to make the experience memorable. The outdoor patio provides a beautiful setting to enjoy their delicious wines, including off-menu warm wine that receives high praise.
I recently visited Fish Tale Winery, and it was an experience to remember! From the moment I walked in, the cozy and inviting atmosphere made me feel right at home. I started with the baked goat cheese, which was creamy and rich, served with crispy baguette slices—absolutely delicious. The baked crab and artichoke dip was packed with flavor, and the cheesy shrimp toast was a delightful treat. I also tried the tomato basil soup, which was fresh and comforting, perfectly paired with grilled cheese bread. The wine tasting was fantastic! I sampled six different wines, each unique and expertly explained by the knowledgeable staff. It was a great way to explore local flavors and find new favorites. The service was top-notch—friendly, attentive, and passionate about the menu. I also loved that dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, making it a great spot for pet owners.

My husband and I loved this place so much we came twice. The wine was really good (he loved the Zonker and I loved the cab). The food was excellent as well! They allow dogs so we got to enjoy our wine on the patio with the pup. Additionally, the owner Andy was super personable and came out to chat with us a few times. 10/10 highly recommend
Eleanor B — Google review
We were here for about a week and I made sure we went twice because the food and wine is that good! I loved that we got to try 6 of our choice at no charge but the wine is so good we both walked away with a glass and I ended up buying 3 bottles to take home, I tried all the wineries here but fishtales stayed at number 1 for both the food and delicious wine. If you like sweet you can’t go wrong with the pineapple or peach and the Hudson creek blackberry red was also very good! And the paninis are to die for the flavor combos may sounds strange but some of the best things you wouldn’t expect to go well together ! Also according to the people I ate with their brisket is also delicious (just not my thing personally!) and if you have someone that likes beer they do also serve beer. We were just sad we didn’t get to try the potato soup, maybe next time we’re here !

Beyond one of our must stops here in Broken Bow!! Andy and his family are By far the friendliest and kindest host and hostess!! We went to Body Harmony for a relaxing massage and visited this diamond in the ruff!! The wine by far blows away any other winery here in town. This is a must stop for any one from couples, family, to just chilling with friends.

The wine is great! We especially enjoyed the Heroes Merlot, the Riesling ( which is dry) and the Pinot Grigio. The tasting of 6 wines is free. We stayed for the food. OMG very good!!! We had the panini’s and soup. Delicious! The potato salad is homemade and scrumptious. We sat outside on the patio, so pleasant. We bought a few bottles to go home. We came back a second time, it was so good. Highly recommend!

Came to Broken Bow with my friends for a girl’s trip and we end up here for wine tasting and lunch - wow, it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious and we really loved the various wines. The service was impeccable and everyone there was so kind and personable. Shoutout to Savannah and Presley for being so awesome! We are so happy that we came here and plan to come back in the future. I’m going to tell everyone coming to Broken Bow about this place! We loved it here!
Alayna M — Google review
This is a MUST while visiting the area!!! The owners are so friendly and welcoming. We begin by a complementary wine tasting of six samples of home made wine. Then we go sit down and enjoy the best food in Hochatown!! Hands down the freshest most unique food!! We order bread oil and dip flight (3 different dips with toast and chips). This is plenty for us to visit and have a glass of wine. Excellent place and fantastic friends!!!
David H — Google review
Turn in at the liquor store and drive through the parking lot to the winery. Free tasting, don’t see that often. Well made wines with great traditional flavor profiles. Have a glass off your favorite and saunter down the hall to the bistro for a flavor bomb treat. Loved the dip sampler, enough for 4 people as an app. Popper was our favorite. Outdoor and indoor seating. Can’t wait for a second round.

Beavers Bend State Park - Hochatown Area is a sprawling 3,000-acre park offering a myriad of outdoor activities. From hiking along the various trails to camping under the starry night sky, there's something for everyone. The park features primitive and RV campsites, an 18-hole golf course, and a lodge for those seeking comfortable accommodations. Visitors can also rent cabins for a cozy stay amidst nature. The picturesque lake provides opportunities for fishing, boating, and skiing.
Love this park! The whole area is inviting and the activities are wide ranging. We have been here twice now and enjoyed it each time. We have now tried the off road trails, it was a lot of fun. Views were awesome and we found some great spots that were well worth the drive to get to. I used AllTrails to find some local trails, and honestly we just adventured off the path here and there. So there are more trails than listed. Some rocks and steep hills for your adrenaline side.

Been coming here for years. Always liked staying in the cabins at the state park because they are rustic. This time was terrible! I wore fuzzy socks for inside the cabin and had to throw them away! They were black. Didn’t look like anyone had cleaned those floors in years. Didn’t bring any kids this trip or I would have had to go buy some bleach and mop the floors. I had bleach wipes for the tables and counters and tried to ignore the filthy cabin as much as possible. Of course when you step outside in the park it’s as beautiful as ever but just do not recommend the cabins any longer. Drove to the lodge and it had been remodeled two years ago. Told the worker there how bad the cabin was and she just said she knew. Sad 😢

We had a blast here. Watching those fly fishing looked like a video frame from Brad Pitt fly fishing. The water is very 🥶 cold. It's so beautiful. We also went to the beach and then kayaking. We had a blast! So so beautiful.

We had an RV For in the fern loop. The spot was huge, had nice views of the river and was across from the bathrooms. There was a bit of traffic as others have said sure to these being the bathrooms for all the campers. The playground was close and functional. Starlink worked here despite significant tree cover and if you're charging a Tesla keep in mind you need a special 30amp 120v adapter for your mobile charger.

Our group had a great time!! We used Tree Frog Kayak and Canoe Rentals and they were awesome and super accommodating! This was everyone in our groups first time to kayak so it took us longer and they waited. The girl that checked us in was super helpful and funny! The scenery in Broken Bow is beautiful, and the locals are super welcoming, polite, and kind.

An absolute gem of a state park! Beavers Bend State Park is unlike any other park I’ve experienced in Texas or nearby. Nestled in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains of southeastern Oklahoma, the park is surrounded by rolling hills, lush greenery, and some of the freshest air you can breathe. The drive from Dallas itself was a treat, with scenic country roads leading into the heart of nature. Once inside the park, there’s so much to explore and enjoy: A great swimming beach and plenty of picnic areas. Spacious RV spots and camping areas perfect for relaxing and soaking in the views. The Beavers Bend Dam overlook, which gives an incredible panoramic view of the lake. The Broken Bow overlook on top of the mountain — absolutely breathtaking, with the lake framed by distant hills and forests. There’s also a nature center and a small museum with fascinating artifacts and history about Oklahoma, which adds a nice educational touch to the adventure. Whether you’re here for hiking, boating, fishing, camping, or simply a peaceful retreat into nature, Beavers Bend has it all. Highly recommended for families, couples, and anyone who wants a refreshing escape into the outdoors!

Our first time visiting, and it was such a great experience! We got a little turned around at first, but the receptionist was super helpful - she gave us a map and even drew directions to all the trails we wanted to hike. The trails were well maintained, clearly marked, and had amazing views. We also enjoyed fishing while in the park as well. Can't wait to come back and visit!

What a fantastic trip to Beavers Bend State Park! The kayaking and paddle boating were absolutely amazing, and we also loved hitting the hiking trails. The scenic views on both the Cedar Bluff Trail and Friends Trail were breathtaking and well worth the trek. We also made sure to visit both the dam and the spillway, which are two different but equally impressive sights. This park is definitely worth a two-day visit to see all it has to offer!

First time coming here and we are definitely coming back! There is so much stuff to do! We stayed at a cabin and it was very relaxing listening to the birds and insects at night. Great way to escape! Word of advice, we could not get service while we are at the park so make sure to download your maps so you can still find your way around.

This is a beautiful park with lots of hiking opportunities. There are a lot to do for everyone. It's dogfriendly and a great park for children all ages. The only thing I found a little difficult was following the hiking trails. You won't get lost but we once lost the trail and the other time we endet up on three different trails in one hike without even trying. It was partly hard to find the markers for the trails. We weren't the only ones, we run into others who had the same problems.

Williams House Museum

Museums
AFTER ACTION REPORT! Three riders today. John, Mike and Claude. We departed on time and arrived at Venice Pizza in DeKalb Texas. Good roads, great weather. The Pizza was awesome. We then rode over to the WILLAMS HOUSE MUSEUM, downtown DeKalb. I am always amazed at the hidden jewels that can be found in these small Texas towns. The Museum in on almost an acre. With multiple buildings and an extensive presentation of the life and times of the community, and a eager staff to bring the story to life, it was a fulfilling experience. We all recommend a trip to the Museum. Plan at least two hours , just to get a taste of what's offered.

This is a great little museum right off I-30 in East Texas. The museum houses a piece of the tail section of the plane that crashed carrying Ricky Nelson. The actual crash site is near in the town of DeKalb, TX.

Stop in and walk into the past. The house is and barn are full of local history. Including the plane crash that killed Ricky Nelson and his band. Dan Blocker AKA Hoss from Bananza who was from DE Kalb. The curators know the details of each piece of history in the house.

If you haven't visited this amazing museum created by 2 hard working people and their family, you must! I'd never dream such an incredible picture of the past in East Texas could be found in this small town! It's stunning! Multiple buildings are meticulously filled with artifacts sharing the past of our country. Williams House should be on the map for interesting places to visit throughout the entire state!
Stacy D — Google review
Very much enjoyed my visit to The Williams House Museum. It was first visit to De Kalb with the intention of only visiting Dan Blocker’s grave site and Ricky Nelson crash site. My visit to the Williams House added a whole be dimension. Learning that such a small town provided three military Generals was a surprise. I will certainly visit again. The lady who showed me around wax mist gracious. Sadly I have forgotten her name. I was the Australian.

My visit to the Willams House Museum in DeKalb was in conjunction with a trip across US Highw82, beginning to end. This stop was a highlight! Local Judge Joni Haldeman left her workplace to open the museum, then took me to Dan Blocker's gravesite and the Ricky Nelson airplane crash site. I had a travel trailer attached so she even used her own vehicle! Great host and promoter of her town, thanks! Highly recommend this museum!

It was amazing to see all kinds of historical things. They have a piece of the plane that killed Ricky Nelson and some stuff of Dan Blocker... its a very good place to visit. Its worth the stop. Lots and lots of things to see... 1 house, barn and 2 buildings full of interesting stuff.

Would give this wonderful piece of history 10 stars if possible. The commissary is a work of historical art. Mike built and arranged the collection beautifully. A must see show place of Texas history when you're near Dekalb.
