Sasthamkotta Lake is a beautiful and calm place perfect for a peaceful outing. You can cross the lake in a small boat for a nominal fee of 10-20 rupees per person(prize can be changed ,so I’m not sure ) The lake is clean and located near Sasthamkotta DB College, with a police station nearby, making it a safe spot for families and loved ones.Remember to avoid plastic bags and dispose of any waste responsibly to keep the area pristine. Shops and bakeries are conveniently located about 300-400 meters from the lake at the main Sasthamkotta junction. Highly recommended for a serene day out!

One of the most memorable days of my life. Everything was so well coordinated. It was So heartwarming to see the amazing talents of the children there. A wonderful experience With family. A full day packed program. We went with children. The money we spent there is worth every penny. Children can learn a lot of things about another side of childhood where our differently abled children their entire childhood in colours instead of chaos. They grow, live, learn and earn with Magic Planet. I would recommend this place as a must visit place for everyone. Also keep in mind the shows are understandable for kids above 5 years only. The full day program includes a food and snack facility on the campus itself. Ample parking is available.

Impressed by their punctuality, cleanliness, service, and the scrumptious food. The performances — especially by Ali Cherpulasserry, the mentalist, along with the theatre shows, circus acts, were simply mind-blowing! Hats off to Gopinath Muthukad Sir for this divine initiative. The location is approximately 20 km from the city. It's a 10 am to 6 pm program. Try to join by 10 am. The forenoon session mostly focuses on the performance of differently abled children. Stepping into Magic Planet was an experience that transcended mere entertainment. This is not just a theme park; it's a unique social experiment that is succeeding with grace and excellence. The park is a platform to empower and rehabilitate an often overlooked community—differently-abled children and street magicians. Seeing these incredible artists perform with such skill, confidence, and sheer joy is breathtaking. The temple has fixed visiting hours — open from 4:30 AM till 12:15 PM in the afternoon and reopens in the evening from 4:30 PM. As you enter, the peaceful and spiritual atmosphere instantly surrounds you. Take some time to sit and walk around the temple corridor — it’s a truly beautiful and calming experience that lets you feel the divine energy of the place. This temple is unique, as it is the only temple in India dedicated to Lord Vishnu in a reclining (Anantha Shayana) posture. Clock Room & Dress Code You need to pay for the cloakroom, which seems more like a business setup than a service, and there’s hardly any space to change clothes. The temple enforces a traditional dress code: men must wear a dhoti (lungi) without a shirt, and women must wear a sari or dhoti. While I respect the ritual, it would be better if the required attire were provided free of charge instead of adding extra costs.paying  ₹500, which feels high considering the temple’s immense wealth (reportedly worth billions). Despite this, there’s no free food for visitors. Prasad is only offered to those who purchase a receipt, and there are separate lines for them—this creates a sense of commercialization. Overall Experience The temple’s architecture and spiritual significance are extraordinary, but the management practices feel overly commercial and lack inclusivity. A little more transparency and hospitality would make the experience truly divine.

one of the most peaceful and divine places to visit in Trivandrum. The moment I entered the temple streets, that old-charm architecture and calm atmosphere gave a very special feel. Inside the temple, the vibe is completely different-quiet, spiritual, and very disciplined. The main deity's darshan through the three doors is really unique, and seeing the detailed carvings and traditional Kerala-style structure felt very special. Dress code strict-ah irukum, but once you go inside, it feels worth it because the whole place is so serene. Overall in my view, it's a must-visit spot if you like spiritual and historic places-very peaceful, well-maintained, and gives a divine feeling throughout.

Best time for darshan is early morning. It's better not to carry too much. Bags, mobile phones are not allowed. Locker facility is available at the entrance (fee is charged). There is dress code for men and women. Men should wear dhotis and for womens saree or lehenga. Kurti is also not allowed but you can wear dhoti over it as a skirt. At entrance dhoti is available. You can buy it from there. The queue was really long. But you can enjoy the temple architecture during the queue. The queue management was good. Drinking water facility was there.

However, a few improvements can make the experience much smoother: • Ticketing system needs restructuring — more ticket counters are required, and there should be a proper waiting area downstairs as well or online tickets. • AC in the waiting areas needs better cooling, especially considering the crowd and weather. • Cable car safety can be improved. It should fully stop for tourists to get in and out; stepping off while it’s moving feels unsafe. • Clear instructions should be displayed at the entrance so visitors know the rules beforehand, especially since food and water are not allowed inside. • Refreshment counters need better cooling, more options, and water dispensers. • Photos for purchase look overly edited or AI-generated; more natural edits or original prints, especially with the Jatayu structure in the background, would be much better. • Souvenirs missing — fridge magnets or Jatayu-themed items would be great additions. Overall, it’s a great experience with a lot of potential to become even better!

Jatayu Earth Center in Kerala is known for its massive sculpture of the mythical bird Jatayu, placed on a rocky hilltop. Visitors can reach the top either by cable car or by walking up the pathway. The hilltop area can get quite hot during sunny hours, so carrying an umbrella or cap is advisable. At the top, there is a small water area and a shop for basic refreshments. A temple is also located near the sculpture, adding a peaceful touch to the visit. The viewpoint offers good spots for photography, making it suitable for families, friends, and solo travelers. Overall, it is a place where visitors can comfortably spend time exploring the sculpture, views, and surroundings.

It is maintained by a non government organisation/ private organisation. Well maintained property. Beautiful scenic surroundings view. Plastic Water bottles and eatables are not allowed. Free water is available everywhere. Amount paid 555₹ per person including entry ticket and cable car ticket. Second option of 325₹ was available for who wish to climb 826 steps almost 1km elevation. Please note that full ticket is applicable for people with more than 90 cm height including children. They take your photo at start which is available at 260₹ per copy or 210₹ for multiple soft copies at 1st floor. 1st floor has some small food counters along with children play area. Jatayu sculpture is beautiful with in detailed carvings. Small Lord Rama temple is situated upstairs. Devotees can see the foot step of Lord Rama backside of this temple. Overall fantastic experience.

Worth visiting the place when you are in trivandrum, Varkala or Kollam. The opening time is as mentioned on the site, it's exactly at 10AM. The ticketing system could have been little hassle free. They have one ticketing window at the ground level, this makes the process way slow. And also I don't find a reason of having another ticketing window at upper level to decide cable car or walking track. Most of the time I feel the cable car may not operate because of heavy wind in the area, so keep in mind. However I felt it was blessing in disguise to get our cable car got cancelled because of harsh weather and we could take a nice walk among the nature, it's just a km of climb. The management has arranged all necessary facilities like drinking water and toilets in all levels. The ticketing from online is fraud, there is a strict warning at the entrance to avoid online ticketing. The management does not allow any big bag, plastic items including water bottle and sanitizer but at the 1st floor they sell all plastic items which is contradicting to their policy.

I had an amazing time visiting Jatayu Earth Centre. The entire experience felt so well crafted especially the background music inspired by Indian history. It was incredibly soothing to the ears and added a beautiful depth to the whole ambience. During my visit, the museum was closed, possibly due to ongoing construction work, so I couldn’t explore that part. But the view from the Jatayu rock more than made up for it absolutely stunning and worth the climb. Overall, it’s a place everyone should visit at least once in their life. Truly a memorable experience

Thiruvananthapuram Zoo, one of India’s oldest (est. 1857), is a beautiful, green, and well-maintained place located in the city center near the Napier Museum. It has a good variety of animals including tigers, lions, elephants, reptiles, and birds. The surroundings are shaded and peaceful, making it pleasant for families and children. Entry is affordable, and electric carts are available for visitors. However, some enclosures are small, a few animals seem inactive, and the food stalls or cart services can be slow on crowded days. The zoo can get very busy on weekends and holidays, and animals are less active in the afternoon heat. Overall: A clean, scenic, and affordable place worth visiting—best enjoyed in the morning or evening when it’s cooler and less crowded.

Went on a weekday. No so much crowded, but yes it's a tourist place so there'll be crowd especially on Sundays. The ticket price google mentioned (200/-) is dfor foreigners and the ticket price for Indians is only 40(for adults). I only support zoo when they can provide better facilities for animals that they can't get them on forest. But I'm not sure about here, because most of the animals are always lay down like they don't have enough health, especially the lion,tiger & cheetah(pythons too). It seems they can barely walk. On the other hand the bear,deer, and hippos seems pretty healthy. So I'm not sure, maybe it's the time I went there. The main problem is you can't clearly see most of the birds, I'm not sure till why they don't use glasses for clear visibility rather than the small grill, that you can barely see them. The white tiger was a suprise and he/she/they/them whatever was actually stunning. Most of the cages were empty (I'm actually glad for that). A 20 min walk through a"made up jungle" is actually good. The staffs always clean the place but be careful of the tree branch. The snakes non of them are even moving, I'm not sure if they alive or not for some reason. Anyway yeah as I mentioned earlier if you can provide better facilities for animals yes it's a good initiative. Unless it's cruelty.

Thiruvananthapuram Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in India and a lovely place to visit. The park is clean, green, and well-maintained, with spacious enclosures for animals. You can see lions, tigers, crocodiles, and many exotic birds. It’s a peaceful escape in the city and a great spot to spend a few hours enjoying nature and wildlife. Perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers who love animals and quiet walks. Entrance is 200 rupees. I went to this zoo hoping to see an elephant, but there wasn't one there.

The zoo was decent but had a limited variety of animals. The deer and porcupine enclosures were quite crowded, making it hard to get a good view. Some of the reptiles were not present. The layout could be better managed for visitor flow. Kids still enjoyed spotting the few animals around. Overall, an average experience that could improve with better space and crowd management. The entry fee for family is ₹100.

Zoo is good. Enjoy for picnic or one day fun. Must visit nearby locations like palace and museum, located within one KM. Restaurant and washroom and and Shop available inside the campus and nearby. Easily available auto for this place or for go to outside. Greenery is superb and all three locations are fantastic for photoshoot. You can also enjoy fish aquarium located in this area.

I visited Konni Eco Tourism Centre recently. The place is naturally beautiful and has good potential for eco-tourism, but honestly, I felt it is not maintained as well as it should be. Some areas looked neglected, and with proper care the place could be much more attractive. Parking is available near the entrance (₹15 for two-wheelers, ₹40 for cars), which is convenient. However, the entry fee (₹80 for adults) feels a bit high compared to what is currently offered inside. For the amount they charge, visitors expect better facilities, cleaner surroundings, and more engaging activities. It is still a peaceful spot to spend some time in nature, but in my opinion, it doesn’t feel fully worth the ticket price. With better upkeep and a little more attention to detail, this centre could definitely become a top eco-tourism destination. NB: Only card or GPay is accepted at the ticket counter

Historical and Cultural Significance Konni Elephant Training Centre has a long and storied history dating back to 1942. It was established as a center for training elephants captured from the wild, a practice that was once common in Kerala. Today, the center focuses on the care and rehabilitation of elephants, ensuring their well-being and promoting conservation efforts.

The upper side, in contrast, offers a serene atmosphere—remarkably calm even with over a hundred visitors present at the time. Nearby, there’s a Forest Department office, a cafeteria, and a crocodile park—though the latter could certainly benefit from better maintenance. One of the most exciting features is the variety of boat trips available within the dam, including a longer safari-style excursion. Overall, the experience is enjoyable and memorable. However, it’s hard to ignore the missed potential. The tourism department appears to be underperforming, especially given the vast opportunities available to develop the area into a major attraction. Right now, it feels like a beautiful title waiting for the poem to be written. A sincere request to the government: show the commitment and vision needed to transform this naturally gifted location into a world-class destination for travelers from around the globe.

Neyyar wildlife sanctuary has boating service along with elephant visits, deer visits, crocodile visits. Ticket fare is 100rs per adult. It's a very good view through the boat. The park has 2 elephants of one male and one female, lot of deers and you can see monkeys too. There will be guide who guides you and also convey all the information regarding park and animals. In the area where crocodiles are placed, has a python too. Each crocodiles are kept in separate cage. When you move forward you can go to the neyyar dam. A watch tower, dam, children's park, aquarium, swimming pool are provided. As all those near by, it will be a good spot.

Neyyar Dam is a great place to go to free our minds when we have free time in the Thiruvananthapuram district.If you go during the rainy season, all the shutters are open and it's fun to see the water coming through. This is a couple friendly place and can be a family friendly place too, but it takes a while. 1. Couple friendly 12 to 4 . This is a great place for couples to get their own freedom. 2. Nice place situated near to Neyyar dam. We visited after rainy season so that there was water in the reservoir. There is no lion safari now. It is closed and there are no lions now. Picturesque views. We could able to see parts of hills from agastyarkoodam, kurishumala etc. There were three packages available. We took package-1 which covers deer park,crocodile park,elephants (1 big and 1 young one) and boating for 1 hour at 2900/-. Guides were there inorder to provide the information all the time. Boating was so good with panoramic views. Only 2-3 crocodiles are there in the crocodile park. We have to walk through a small narrow forest path unordered to see the deer park which was nice. We heard from one of the employee that all the lions are dead so that they have to shut down the safari. Earlier at a point, there were 16 male lions and it was difficult to feed them. And there were no profit from the sanctuary also. So one doctor approved for the sterilization procedure which made them infertile. It was a sad story.

Date December 31st 2024 Disappointing Experience at Thenmala Eco Adventure Park I had a very disappointing experience at Thenmala Eco Adventure Park, especially considering the ticket prices. Entry without activities:150 /head Entry with 5 activities: 480/ head Aside from the zip line, there were no activities worth trying. Of the 5 activities(out of 10) included in the adventure package priced at ₹480, only 5-6 were actually operational. The park suffers from poor maintenance, with many attractions either not working or in disrepair, which raises concerns about safety. The lack of functional activities makes the price feel unjustifiable, and the overall experience did not meet expectations. It’s a risk for injuries, and I would not recommend it unless significant improvements are made. No proper sign boards at all. If you are still interested in visiting the place please do enter before 4 pm since by 4 30- 4 45 the staff will close the activities by themselves 😅 and will go home. The sad thing is that it was very good a couple of years back , now due to poor maintainance it has become a worst experience

Nice place to explore nature. But the ticket charges were a little higherside considering the activities included in the entry ticket fee. There were absolutely no activities included in the adventure zone and the maintenance were.very poor. Authorities should consider proper maintenance and organizing activities in an efficient way.

This park feels like an example of how not to manage a visitor experience. First, instead of a simple ticket counter at the entrance, you have to buy tickets from a separate office located below, which most people aren’t aware of until they reach the main gate—only to be sent back down again. It’s an unnecessary inconvenience that could be easily avoided if the ticket center was placed at the entrance itself. Another downside is that almost every adventure activity requires an additional charge. By the time you add them all up, the total becomes quite expensive compared to what you expect initially. Overall, the park could be much better organized both in terms of accessibility and cost transparency.

A real let down honestly the first canopy walk started good but closed midway no idea it’s the really superb but no idea why they closed it Activities are there , the staff are nice and helpful really was looking forward to the adventure zone but felt a waste considering the ticket price they do really do with the improvements maybe lack of patronages But still it’s a nice to spend with family just taking in the fresh air and the greenery

Thenmala Adventure Zone is a nice place to be if it was maintained properly. Canopy walk is closed half way. Many of the other rides and facilities are either closed or partially functional. Pedal boating was a nice experience. Most of the rides have no maintenance. Thankfully the park is covered with huge trees giving a refreshing feeling. Restrooms are basic but cleanliness is good. With proper maintenance and planning this place could have been a awesome place. Staffs are generally pleasant and helpful. Weekdays would be less congested.

Sorry I didn't find any adventure activities there.. wastage of time...All the items not properly maintained.Hanging bridge one side blocked and not secure, walking bridge closed condition.only the location Kalamkunnu was nice rest others are waste of time and money.

The Adventure zone has lot of activities for the adults - like rope walk, River crossing, Rock climbing, mountain biking and likes. Since we had a mix of all ages, we preferred to slip this and move on to Children's park. This is a small park for kids to play and one can spend around 20 minutes here. Most of them are located within a km from the dam entrance. Adventure zone is 500m before the dam itself and rest of them 500m after the dam on the road to Kollam.

All the elephants are rescued animals. Visiting for the 2nd time and this time due to heavy rain during monsoon the pathway was blocked by fallen trees and electric lines hence could not view the elephant feeding and bathing and I was taken for a limited sighting of elephants. But the rain made the atmosphere and greenery looks even better. This place also has a couple of trekking options. Location is around 15 km from kattakada. Must visit when visiting Trivandrum.

I recently visited the Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre in Trivandrum, and it was a unique experience! The center is located in a beautiful forest area, providing a natural habitat for rescued elephants. We reached there by 4PM, we got a chance to see the feeding sessions. The surroundings are peaceful, making it a great spot for nature lovers. We were not able to touch or feed the elephants; we could only observe them from a small distance. They also have offer boating facilities. Overall, it’s a good place to visit, especially for families and wildlife enthusiasts. Parking - The parking area is spacious and paid. One of the best waterfalls nearby Trivandrum. It’s clean and its way spreader, so more people can enjoy at the same time, lack of clean toilets is a disadvantage and also the ticket for packing is 50 for cars and entry is 20. Nice ambience and can be enjoyed with friends and families as well. Changing room are available nearby as well. Also some cloth shops at the entrance provide dress changing rooms, if we purchase something from them, that is also a good option too.

I have Visited Thriparappu Waterfalls recently — and honestly, it’s such a refreshing spot! The place is surrounded by greenery and the view is just beautiful. The waterfall isn’t too high, but the flow is strong enough to enjoy a nice shower under it. Great place to relax, click pictures, and just enjoy nature. There’s a small entry fee of 10 rupees and parking area nearby, plus a few local shops for snacks and tea. It can get crowded on weekends, so going early is a good idea. I will suggest you to visit around 8:30 AM to avoid crowd..Overall, a perfect short trip spot for families and friends This waterfall is just 50 km from Trivandrum International airport and railway station. Also it’s around 50 km from Kanyakumari.

The staff and security are very friendly and helpful—one security officer even helped us take pictures. There are small shops nearby for tea and snacks, and clean bathrooms are also available. Bathing at the waterfall is comparatively safe, and steps are provided to climb up for better views and photos. Payments are cashless, so only UPI or cards are accepted. Paal means milk and aruvi means waterfalls .A Refreshing experience worth the travel. This is located in Kerala and very well maintained(Unlike the several badly maintained falls in Tamilnadu). To protect our environment, Plastic Bottles and eatables are not allowed.The vehicle by which we travel has to be parked and all visitors need to travel 2 to 3 kms in the Forest department buses which is mandatory. The staff were very courteous as we waited in the queue and were making us comfortable. The view was stunning but involved climbing a path ! Can't bathe directly under the strong flow . A small area where we can take a dip in the cool, flowing waters was very refreshing !

Nice place to visit, Well maintained by the Kerala Forest Department. Friendly staff in guiding us too. Amble parking space. The transportation arranged is also good. The only drawback I saw here is the wait till me for transportation when we return back. People coming in groups keep on coming at different times and these people kept on entering in between the queues increasing the waiting times of the people already waiting there ,.especially the elder people and people with kids . I would humbly request deploying more staff on thr waiting area to avoid such situations, so as to ensure the smooth functioning of this tourist place.

The queue is extremely long — it takes around 8 to 9 hours to reach the temple. If you are going with children or elderly people, it can be very dangerous because of the huge crowd. The security and police don’t seem to take much control, and most areas are so dirty that you can’t even place your feet comfortably. Once you enter the queue, you cannot step out or find a place to sit. If it rains, the situation becomes even worse — the ground gets messy and unhygienic. I personally waited for more than 8 hours, surviving only on a little water and a few biscuits. If there’s an emergency or someone needs to use the toilet, it’s almost impossible to leave the line. Seeing this made me question whether God truly exists here, because the place feels so unholy and inhumane. It literally felt like hell — plastic and garbage are scattered everywhere along the path. While the pathway itself is decent, people keep littering despite there being waste bins around. So, the problem isn’t with the government or the Devaswom Board, but with people’s mindset. Even though this temple is in the middle of a forest, people pollute it on their way to see God. It feels like the place has become more about business than devotion. We must remember — if there is any God, it’s within us, and only people can make a change, not any divine being.

Legendary belief is that after the victory over the demon, lord ayyappa meditated at sabarimala and attained moksha thus transforming this place as spiritual destination and worshipping here is highly auspicious. The holy eighteen sacred steps pathinettam padi is the main stairway to the temple. Here swamy ayyappa is placed gracefully in a beautiful sanctum sanctorum with dwarapalakas. Acknowledging the traditional importance and to adapt contemporary sensibilities temple is opened for five days every month. Main pilgrimage season is the mandala makara vilakku from november to january for sixty seven days. During the year temple will be opened for certain festival days also for a short period. Pilgrimers observe 41 days celibacy as customary principle for darshan to this temple. As part of custom womens of menstruating ages will not go for darshan. Without any dress code devotees themselves wear black or blue coloured shirts and dhotis. Here devotees address each other as 'ayyappa' or "swamy" and not by their names. Pilgrimers wear a thulasi bead carry a sacred bunch called as irumudi packed with cloth pouch filled with dried rice, ghee filled coconut, arcenut, jaggery, betel, coin, kadali pazham. Irumudi can be packed at pamba ganapathy temple. Atfirst to reach near nilackal for parking and by state transport bus to pampa. All trek barefoot towards sannidhanam from pamba which is the commonly preferred route. Some prefer other traditional trek routes such as erumeli kalaketti pampa and vandiperiyar sathram pulmedu sannidhanam. After wetting feet in the pampa river take darshan in pampa ganapathy temple and start trekking towards sannidhanam on the stone tiled paths passing through the divinely significant places such as sabaripeedam, pandithavalam, cheriyanavattam, neelimala, apachimedu and atlast reach sannidhanam. Those disabled can avail the dolly services. Free food at pamba and sannidhanam available but is conducted in a disgraceful manner. Those with irumudi kettu are only allowed pathinettam padi access. Devotees can offer for various rituals such as neyyabhishekam, ashtabhishekam, kalasabhishekam, kalabhabhishekam, pushpabhishekam which is also not systematically organized. Aravana and appam available as prasadam but commercialized. Common devotees are put to much hardship and maximum sufferings kept waited for long hours in long ques and are pulled out inhumanly before sopanam without enabling a small glimpse of the lord. Only bigwigs entourage found given undue privileges enabling smooth darshan. Moreover contributions of devotees seems not properly utilized for devotee friendly infrastructure improvements as the pilgrim facilities found inadequate in nilackal, pamba, erumeli and sannidhanam. Online bookings for darshan and accommodations handled unprofessionally. Being a globally revered divine destination sabarimala lacks professionalism and transparency in administration as it requires a separate devaswam and at the helm a IAS officer.

Climbing the sacred 18 steps (Pathinettam Padi) was a deeply emotional moment, and the darshan of Lord Ayyappa filled me with peace and gratitude. The journey itself – through the hills, chants of “Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa,” and the brotherhood among devotees – makes the pilgrimage even more meaningful. 🙏 A must-visit for anyone seeking spiritual strength, discipline, and divine blessings.

Visited Arulmigu Kasi Viswanathar Temple and it was wonderful. The tall Gopuram and beautiful carvings are stunning. The temple is peaceful and a large space area with neat and clean maintaining atmosphere. It's a great place to visit for anyone who loves history, spirituality, or just wants to experience something beautiful. Everyone visiting courtallam and nearby areas must visit this temple.

This was my 2nd visit after 11 years. Not changed much. A simple temple. Good architecture not great like tanjavur. But still it is an important temple in the region.

Every time in upstairs when I see the majestic gopuram, it feels truly divine. When we enter the temple , the air itself seems to welcome us with a sacred energy. The darshan of the Shiva Lingam is so powerful that it brings goosebumps & tears to the eyes. A must visit temple that fills the heart with devotion and peace.

A must visit Temple when visiting Tenkasi, A peaceful and delightful experience visiting this 🛕. The surroundings of this temple also was neat and well maintained when we visited. The only issue we found here was the provision for parking, we must be lucky enough to find a spot. Tenkasi is built around the Kasi Viswanathar temple. The temple has a seven-tiered gopuram (temple tower) and has concentric granite walls that enshrines all the shrines in the temple. The temple has a pillared hall from the entrance leading to the flagstaff hall. The sanctum is located axial to the entrance facing east. The image of Kasi Viswanathar in the form of lingam is housed in the sanctum. The images of Vinayaka and Subramanya are located on either side of the hall leading to the sanctum

Agasthiyar falls are on the way from Papanasam temple to the dam area. One has to walk 500 m to get to the falls from the parking area. Most of the people going there take a bath in the falls. A separate bathing area and dress changing facility is provided for women. Overall a nice picnic spot. It was good but they allow only up to 5 pm. Overall it was nice place to spend some time. Water was clean and there is a special Siva temple which should be visited... the water falls was not a very big one. separate bathing area for gents and ladies.ladies crowd also large and ladies area also small. for gents it quite large and crows also less. the area not so neat.weekends will be crowded.water flow was good when we went on august.the road from papanasam checkpost will be narrow and hilly.probablity of trafiic jam during weekend is very high. we had 2 hours of jam. beware of monkey. only two small hotels are there near the falls. during break fast they serve poori and idly and lunch only tomotto rice and curd rice. dont miss kalyana theertham the path way is not neat. but the view point is good and temple above is very divine.

Located just 40 km away from Coutralam Falls, this mesmerizing spot is far less crowded, making it a peaceful escape. Though the waterfall here is smaller in height, the force of the water is incredible—you literally can’t stand against it! It pushes you right off your spot, which makes it super fun, especially when you're with a group of friends. 🎉 Right next to the falls, you’ll find a dam, which is quite rare to witness together. I’ve never seen a dam and waterfall side by side like this—it’s truly a unique experience! They’ve thoughtfully provided separate dress changing rooms for ladies, ensuring privacy and safety. 👍 The same road also leads to Manjolai, which is a restricted forest area where entry is not allowed without special permission. This entire place is under the control of the Forest Department, and there are strict security checks. Carrying snacks, food, or drinks is not allowed—if you bring any, they’ll be taken at the check post and returned to you on the way back. 📅 Best time to visit: June to August, when the falls are at their best. A beautiful place which is not maintained properly. Park looks like graveyard. Government could have taken steps to maintain it properly. Proper checking has been done before entering the falls which was appreciable. If everything is maintained well,it will be one of the best tourist spot in Tirunelveli .

A 2nd biggest siva temple in world,with very huge 3(3 for ambal + 3 for shiva)pragarams. Gomathy ambal is very gorgeous 😍 (gnanasakthi swaroopam). I have given 5 starts because every inch of the temple are very clean , Management is not shown that much interest in commercializing darshan( No 100rs,50 rs tickets for darshan) only 5 rs that too not required for all days . Must see location at RJPM. There will be a trek into deep forest and a Waterfall at the end. You are free to take bath. Families are much welcomed...! The best time to visit is November to January. Trek for short time period (Very easy). Take auto if you came by public transport. Bike and car can be park at the best place where you get shadow from the sunlight. Must check If there water flowing. Otherwise you got mocked...!

Saw about this temple online and planned for a visit during trip to tamilnadu. Temple gopuram was very captivating and you can see padmanabha swamy and Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and andal birth place. This padmanabha swamy is very clearly visible and priest explained everyone around lord Vishnu and it is very beautiful. Definitely go and take blessings. No rush, no queue, no ticket, just peaceful visit.

What an amazing temple located in the town of Srivilliputhur. This temple is about 10 minutes walk from Srivilliputhur bus stand. Went here on a weekday and this temple was not crowded. From the gopuram which we are we enter the main temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Andal temple is situated in left side of the Vishnu temple. We can take mobiles inside the Vishnu temple but mobile phones are not allowed inside Andal temple and mobiles have to be deposited at mobile keeping centres in front of Andal temple. The sculptures at Andal temple are great. Outside of temple on the road there are many shops which sell the famous Srivilliputhur palkova. Srivilliputhur does not have many hotel's or restaurants. To become a minor basilica, a church must meet certain criteria and follow a formal process. Here are the key requirements: It must have a historical significance, architectural merits and spiritual importance. This Church has all the 3 requirements. In addition it houses the holy relic of Our Mother Mary's veil ( a small slice). The main Statue brought from Portugal is credited with many miracles. Many of the statues here are brought from France and elsewhere in Europe. You will find that the Church still has strong roots of Catholicism - from the Latin words at the main altar - Sancta Maria - ora Pro Nobis - meaning Holy Mary - Pray for Us, to the grotto depicting Our lady of Lourdes. It even has a statue of our lady of Guadalupe here. If you travel to this part of tamil nadu, this Pani Madha Koil is one of the main points of attraction.

Just about a km and half from the Railway station, normally a cab or tuk tuk drive will cost only Rs.60 to reach the church the local drivers charge anywhere between Rs100-150. Can't crib over it. A quiet laid back place, fishing is the main occupation and business here.

Absolutely a nice and historical church to visit. But if your travelling from a long distance and preferred to stay at the church provided accommodation then please make sure you reach out to the right person with the different contactable number than the one that google advices to contact as it does not exist. Also there are limited rooms currently available and a huge gap in coordination. So, my great advice is to plan for the alternate arrangements for your stay to have a pleasant and divine experience.

Awesome experience with family during 10 days festival which will happen from July 26 to Aug 5. Especially this year it was very grand due to gold car festivals which used to happen every 10 years once. You will find more peace in the presence of madha and nearby you have muthu nagar beach where you can spend time with kids. As this church was built during the British period, it is part of tourism. Don't miss it if you visit tuticorin.

In a sacred space that represents divine equality, any form of discrimination or monetary favoritism is not only inappropriate but also undermines the entire purpose of pilgrimage. Temples should be places where all are welcomed with the same reverence, regardless of status or wealth. To preserve the sanctity of Uthirakosamangai, stronger efforts must be made to ensure that all devotees receive equal treatment. Measures like queue systems, clear signage, structured complaint channels, and dedicated volunteers could help improve the experience. Above all, addressing unethical behavior among temple staff is vital to restoring trust and respect in the temple environment. Despite these modern flaws, the Uthirakosamangai Temple continues to captivate the hearts of those who seek divine connection, artistic beauty, and cultural depth. Its legacy is profound, and its potential to inspire devotion remains untarnished if only the values of fairness and humility are upheld alongside tradition.

It is one of the most important Shiv temples of Bharat. It is believed that it is the first Shiv temple of the world. Another important aspect is the huge Nataraj vigrah which is housed in a separate sanctum. It is wonderful. It is difficult to imagine how an intricate one piece idol from Emerald would have sculpted. This idol is covered with sandal throughout the year. Only once in a year during arudra darshan festival in Nov Dec the old chandan is removed and new chandan is coated. At that time only one can see the uncoated form of Nataraj. The temple has beautiful colourful gopuram. There is quite a hustle outside temple with shops and parking space. Interiors of the temple are painted well.

Temple was recently renovated and kumbabishekam just got over... Thalampoo _ Pandanus odorifer is the main flower offered to Lord Shiva... Its available near the temple for cost of rs.300_400.

A Spiritually Enriching Visit to One of the Oldest Shiva Temples – Uthirakosamangai This was our first visit to Uthirakosamangai Temple, and it was truly a spiritually fulfilling experience. We had been planning to visit this ancient temple for several months, and fortunately, a couple of days’ break gave us the perfect opportunity to finally make the trip. Also known as Mangalanatha Swamy Temple, this historic site is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. It is believed to be one of the earliest Shiva temples in existence, rich in history, legends, and deep spiritual energy. One of the temple's main attractions is the 6-foot-tall Maragatha Nataraja idol, carved entirely out of emerald (maragatham)—a truly rare and priceless representation of Lord Shiva in his cosmic dance form. Most of the year, this sacred idol is kept covered in sandalwood paste, and it is revealed to the public only once a year during the Arudra Darshan festival. The temple is also associated with a unique and powerful lingam called the Sahasralingam—a representation of 1000 lingams in one single structure, created as a tribute to 999 sages who, according to legend, offered their lives in devotion to Lord Shiva. A Glimpse into the Temple’s Mythology According to temple lore, Lord Shiva once appeared in Ravana’s palace as a child with a small wound. When Ravana tried to pick up the child, a fireball emerged from the temple pond (Agni Theertham). Fearing it was Shiva's wrath, 999 sages sacrificed themselves by jumping into the fire. One sage stayed back to protect the sacred scriptures, and Shiva, pleased with his devotion, appeared as the Sahasralingam. That lone sage is believed to have been reborn as the revered saint Manikkavacakar, who also has a special lingam dedicated to him within the temple. The temple’s name, Uthirakosamangai, signifies the place where Lord Shiva shared sacred knowledge with Goddess Parvati, making it an important center for both devotion and divine wisdom. Our Experience We visited the temple in the evening, and since the temple had recently undergone Kumbhabhishekam (consecration ceremony), it was quite crowded with devotees from nearby towns and villages. Despite the crowd, the experience was serene and well-organized. We could still see the Yaga Kundams (ritual fire altars) used during the ceremony, which added to the divine atmosphere. A highlight of our visit was seeing the ancient 3000-year-old Jujube (Elanthai) tree, which is believed to hold spiritual significance. This temple is also said to grant moksha (spiritual liberation) to 1000 Shiva devotees, further reinforcing its importance in Hindu belief and worship. Final Thoughts This temple is not just a place of worship—it’s a treasure trove of history, mythology, and divine presence. The architecture, the legends, and the spiritual ambiance make it a must-visit for Shiva devotees and anyone interested in ancient temples of India. If you're in or around Ramanathapuram, or planning a trip to southern Tamil Nadu, I highly recommend visiting Uthirakosamangai. Visited the Devipattinam Navagraha (Navapashanam) Temple, which is located in the sea.. a truly unique and peaceful place. The temple doesn’t have a building…instead, the nine Navagraha stones are set right in the water and are believed to have been installed by Lord Rama himself before he went to Lanka, after performing a pooja here. You usually walk through the shallow water to see them, but during our visit, due to high tide, no one was allowed to go inside as the water level was high. Those who experience it say it feels very special and spiritual. It’s calm, quiet, and gives a unique, relaxed feeling by the seashore. Parking is available (₹40), and you can complete the darshan in about 15–20 minutes. Definitely a must-visit spot near Rameswaram for its unique setting and spiritual energy.

Navagraha temple, situated inside sea. Walkway is provided. In high tide times Vigrahas are not visible. Many 'parihara' poojas are done here. It is 15 km from Ramanathapuram town. Bus transportation is also available. Worth visiting. It is different.

Visited the Devipattinam Navagraha (Navapashanam) Temple was a truly unique experience 🌊🙏 — unlike any other temple I’ve seen. The nine planetary stones are set right in the sea, and walking through the shallow waters to reach them gives a magical feeling ✨ if you're spiritual. Locals believe Lord Rama himself installed these stones before going to Lanka, and you can really feel that spiritual energy here. It’s especially beautiful in the morning when the tide is low 🌅. Just be ready to get your feet wet, and soak in the mix of mythology, nature, and devotion — a must-visit if you’re exploring around Ramanathapuram or Rameswaram 🛕💙. I had a relaxed feel being on the sea shore at a quiet place.

This was the first temple I saw only with the Navagraham. I shocked. At present it has only 5 out of 9 navagraha statues. It was a blissful place with sea breeze. Great view. I liked it.

It's connected to Ramayana period, where it's a belief that the Navagraha was made and workshipped by Lord Rama. It's beautiful located in the sea shore

The location of the resort is excellent, close to the Ariyaman Beach. However, the overall maintenance of the property is quite poor. The swimming pool was dirty, and the mini waterfalls were surrounded by an unclean environment. The garden area also lacked proper upkeep. While the food served was decent, the dining and common areas were not well-maintained. The kids' play area had broken rides, making it unsafe and unappealing for children. On a positive note, Mr. Iyappa was very courteous and took good care of us. He even offered small gifts to our kids, which we appreciated. The pricing was reasonable, but the resort desperately needs better maintenance to match its potential and location.

The rooms are quite different, designed with a nature-based theme. There's a bit of sand and a mild smell, but overall they’re good for staying. The swimming pool and water park are enjoyable, while the food is of average taste

After dhanushakodi, this is the most famous beach in rameshwaram. You can reach here with your car. Highly recommended. You can enjoy a meal at kadal virundhu family sea food restaurant. They serve authentic sea food. Must try their combo.
