Clock Room & Dress Code You need to pay for the cloakroom, which seems more like a business setup than a service, and there’s hardly any space to change clothes. The temple enforces a traditional dress code: men must wear a dhoti (lungi) without a shirt, and women must wear a sari or dhoti. While I respect the ritual, it would be better if the required attire were provided free of charge instead of adding extra costs.paying  ₹500, which feels high considering the temple’s immense wealth (reportedly worth billions). Despite this, there’s no free food for visitors. Prasad is only offered to those who purchase a receipt, and there are separate lines for them—this creates a sense of commercialization. Overall Experience The temple’s architecture and spiritual significance are extraordinary, but the management practices feel overly commercial and lack inclusivity. one of the most peaceful and divine places to visit in Trivandrum. The moment I entered the temple streets, that old-charm architecture and calm atmosphere gave a very special feel. Inside the temple, the vibe is completely different-quiet, spiritual, and very disciplined. The main deity's darshan through the three doors is really unique, and seeing the detailed carvings and traditional Kerala-style structure felt very special. Dress code strict-ah irukum, but once you go inside, it feels worth it because the whole place is so serene. Overall in my view, it's a must-visit spot if you like spiritual and historic places-very peaceful, well-maintained, and gives a divine feeling throughout.

Best time for darshan is early morning. It's better not to carry too much. Bags, mobile phones are not allowed. Locker facility is available at the entrance (fee is charged). There is dress code for men and women. Men should wear dhotis and for womens saree or lehenga. Kurti is also not allowed but you can wear dhoti over it as a skirt. At entrance dhoti is available. You can buy it from there. The queue was really long. But you can enjoy the temple architecture during the queue. The queue management was good. Drinking water facility was there.

The main Deity of the temple is Sri Mahaganapathy (Ganesha). The original Idol was maintained by The Nair Brigade initially at Padmanabhapuram and later when they were shifted to Thiruvananthapuram they installed the Idol and the current temple came into being. After the integration of the Travancore army with the Indian Forces, the temple is being maintained by the Indian Army. The main Vazhipadu (Offering) in the temple is the breaking of coconuts at the temple.

The Napier museum has several other prominent places to see like the zoo around the same area. The museum is housed in a unique building 🏫 with ample greenery surrounding the place. Excellent 👍 artifacts dorn the museum including a great collection of ivory pieces. Just outside is a collection of paintings along with a royal chariot. A canteen is also there with some good food just behind the hall with the paintings 🎨

The ticket price is 200 rupees for foreigners while it's only 30 rupees for local Indians, so it's almost 7 times more expensive than locals for me. But I decided to look around inside, and it's worthwhile visiting just one time while you are in Trivandrum. Most importantly, I have met so many beautiful locals who were so curious about me taking pictures together with them, what a memorable time mingling with genuinely welcoming Indian locals. Again it's a lovely wooden house containing lots of artifacts from thousands yrs ago or unknown periods etc, and interestingly I noticed they had some Indonesian artifacts too.

Napier Museum and the surrounding garden are beautifully maintained and very peaceful. I visited this Museum yesterday, hoping to explore its exhibits, but unfortunately, the museum itself was closed by the time we arrived. However, the trip was far from disappointing, as the surrounding grounds turned out to be an absolute delight and made the visit memorable. Located in the heart of the city, the Napier Museum’s premises are spacious, calm, and strikingly beautiful. The wide, open area is a haven of tranquility amidst the urban bustle, offering a serene ambiance that instantly captivates. The lush greenery, coupled with the historic charm of the museum’s architecture, creates a picturesque setting that feels almost magical in the evening light. What stood out was the subtle addition of music in the air whether it was from nearby performers or an intentional touch by the management, it added a soulful vibe to the experience. We saw several people, from families to groups of friends, enjoying the space, walking, chatting, and soaking in the relaxed atmosphere. It’s clear why this spot is a popular gathering place for locals and visitors alike. Despite the charm of the surroundings, there were some notable drawbacks that kept this from being a perfect experience. The amenities were lacking in several areas. There was no designated parking area for two wheelers, which made it inconvenient for those arriving on bikes. Seating areas were also limited, forcing many visitors to stand or sit on the grass, which might not be ideal for everyone. Additionally, I noticed a lack of garbage bins, which led to some litter scattered around, detracting from the beauty of the place. The number of toilets was also insufficient for the crowd, and the available ones could use better maintenance. I strongly suggest that the management address these issues to elevate the experience. Adding a dedicated parking area for two wheelers, increasing the number of benches or seating spots, installing more garbage bins to encourage cleanliness, and improving toilet facilities would make the grounds even more welcoming. These improvements could transform the area into a truly exceptional public space. Overall, spending time in the Napier Museum’s surroundings was a wonderful experience, filled with beauty, calm, and a unique ambiance enhanced by music. Despite the museum being closed and the limited amenities, the charm of the place earned it a solid 4 star rating. With some attention to the mentioned improvements, this could easily become a 5 star destination for anyone visiting Trivandrum.

Thiruvananthapuram Zoo, one of India’s oldest (est. 1857), is a beautiful, green, and well-maintained place located in the city center near the Napier Museum. It has a good variety of animals including tigers, lions, elephants, reptiles, and birds. The surroundings are shaded and peaceful, making it pleasant for families and children. Entry is affordable, and electric carts are available for visitors. However, some enclosures are small, a few animals seem inactive, and the food stalls or cart services can be slow on crowded days. The zoo can get very busy on weekends and holidays, and animals are less active in the afternoon heat. Overall: A clean, scenic, and affordable place worth visiting—best enjoyed in the morning or evening when it’s cooler and less crowded.

Went on a weekday. No so much crowded, but yes it's a tourist place so there'll be crowd especially on Sundays. The ticket price google mentioned (200/-) is dfor foreigners and the ticket price for Indians is only 40(for adults). I only support zoo when they can provide better facilities for animals that they can't get them on forest. But I'm not sure about here, because most of the animals are always lay down like they don't have enough health, especially the lion,tiger & cheetah(pythons too). It seems they can barely walk. On the other hand the bear,deer, and hippos seems pretty healthy. So I'm not sure, maybe it's the time I went there. The main problem is you can't clearly see most of the birds, I'm not sure till why they don't use glasses for clear visibility rather than the small grill, that you can barely see them. The white tiger was a suprise and he/she/they/them whatever was actually stunning. Most of the cages were empty (I'm actually glad for that). A 20 min walk through a"made up jungle" is actually good. The staffs always clean the place but be careful of the tree branch. The snakes non of them are even moving, I'm not sure if they alive or not for some reason. Anyway yeah as I mentioned earlier if you can provide better facilities for animals yes it's a good initiative. Unless it's cruelty.

You can see lions, tigers, crocodiles, and many exotic birds. It’s a peaceful escape in the city and a great spot to spend a few hours enjoying nature and wildlife. Perfect for families, couples, or solo travelers who love animals and quiet walks. Entrance is 200 rupees. I went to this zoo hoping to see an elephant, but there wasn't one there.

The zoo was decent but had a limited variety of animals. The deer and porcupine enclosures were quite crowded, making it hard to get a good view. Some of the reptiles were not present. The layout could be better managed for visitor flow. Kids still enjoyed spotting the few animals around. Overall, an average experience that could improve with better space and crowd management. The entry fee for family is ₹100.

Zoo is good. Enjoy for picnic or one day fun. Must visit nearby locations like palace and museum, located within one KM. Restaurant and washroom and and Shop available inside the campus and nearby. Easily available auto for this place or for go to outside. Greenery is superb and all three locations are fantastic for photoshoot. You can also enjoy fish aquarium located in this area.

One-of-a-kind place! Truly worth visiting. The Jatayu sculpture is massive and a real piece of art. However, a few improvements can make the experience much smoother: • Ticketing system needs restructuring — more ticket counters are required, and there should be a proper waiting area downstairs as well or online tickets. • AC in the waiting areas needs better cooling, especially considering the crowd and weather. • Cable car safety can be improved. It should fully stop for tourists to get in and out; stepping off while it’s moving feels unsafe. • Clear instructions should be displayed at the entrance so visitors know the rules beforehand, especially since food and water are not allowed inside. • Refreshment counters need better cooling, more options, and water dispensers. • Photos for purchase look overly edited or AI-generated; more natural edits or original prints, especially with the Jatayu structure in the background, would be much better. • Souvenirs missing — fridge magnets or Jatayu-themed items would be great additions. Overall, it’s a great experience with a lot of potential to become even better!

Jatayu Earth Center in Kerala is known for its massive sculpture of the mythical bird Jatayu, placed on a rocky hilltop. Visitors can reach the top either by cable car or by walking up the pathway. The hilltop area can get quite hot during sunny hours, so carrying an umbrella or cap is advisable. At the top, there is a small water area and a shop for basic refreshments. A temple is also located near the sculpture, adding a peaceful touch to the visit. The viewpoint offers good spots for photography, making it suitable for families, friends, and solo travelers. Overall, it is a place where visitors can comfortably spend time exploring the sculpture, views, and surroundings.

It is maintained by a non government organisation/ private organisation. Well maintained property. Beautiful scenic surroundings view. Plastic Water bottles and eatables are not allowed. Free water is available everywhere. Amount paid 555₹ per person including entry ticket and cable car ticket. Second option of 325₹ was available for who wish to climb 826 steps almost 1km elevation. Please note that full ticket is applicable for people with more than 90 cm height including children. They take your photo at start which is available at 260₹ per copy or 210₹ for multiple soft copies at 1st floor. 1st floor has some small food counters along with children play area. Jatayu sculpture is beautiful with in detailed carvings. Small Lord Rama temple is situated upstairs. Devotees can see the foot step of Lord Rama backside of this temple. Overall fantastic experience.

Worth visiting the place when you are in trivandrum, Varkala or Kollam. The opening time is as mentioned on the site, it's exactly at 10AM. The ticketing system could have been little hassle free. They have one ticketing window at the ground level, this makes the process way slow. And also I don't find a reason of having another ticketing window at upper level to decide cable car or walking track. Most of the time I feel the cable car may not operate because of heavy wind in the area, so keep in mind. However I felt it was blessing in disguise to get our cable car got cancelled because of harsh weather and we could take a nice walk among the nature, it's just a km of climb. The management has arranged all necessary facilities like drinking water and toilets in all levels. The ticketing from online is fraud, there is a strict warning at the entrance to avoid online ticketing. The management does not allow any big bag, plastic items including water bottle and sanitizer but at the 1st floor they sell all plastic items which is contradicting to their policy.

I had an amazing time visiting Jatayu Earth Centre. The entire experience felt so well crafted especially the background music inspired by Indian history. It was incredibly soothing to the ears and added a beautiful depth to the whole ambience. During my visit, the museum was closed, possibly due to ongoing construction work, so I couldn’t explore that part. But the view from the Jatayu rock more than made up for it absolutely stunning and worth the climb. Overall, it’s a place everyone should visit at least once in their life. I am giving 4 star as its good but has potential to be great. Neyyar Dam, nestled in the Western Ghats about 30 km from Thiruvananthapuram, offers a peaceful escape into nature. As a traveller, I found it to be a quiet, scenic spot—ideal for those who prefer slow, reflective moments over crowded tourist attractions. The dam is surrounded by forested hills and a vast reservoir that glows beautifully in the evening light. A walk through the nearby park or simply sitting by the water feels calming. The boat ride across the reservoir adds a touch of adventure, taking you to the Lion Safari Park and Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre. While these spots may not be high-end, they offer a raw and unique experience, especially for families or first-time visitors. Neyyar isn’t about grand sights or adrenaline; it’s about pausing, watching, and breathing. It’s best visited on a weekday for a quieter experience. There are limited food options, so carrying your own snacks and water is a good idea. If you’re looking for a simple, refreshing day surrounded by nature, Neyyar Dam is well worth a visit. During monsoon this place offers a completely different experience than that of the summer. Facilities are mostly minimal and the central view tower definitely needs some better management. Also thats the same situation of the parks, can be maintained well, with proper land management and maintenance. If you are someone who enjoys a view its a great place. There is also a KTDC restaurant right next to the dam. I hope they have accommodation facilities too as they had a decent menu. Prices seemed reasonable and can be subjective. There is also an aquarium that has a ton of fish species, and there are some giants too, giants in a sense as if they weigh over 50kgs. It has a seperate ticket counter. I believe it was the first fish aquarium in india or asia. The lighting and interior ambience during monsoon is very dull and moody, but i hope it will be better during the summer. The structure is also comparatively better considering a public building, its not great in terms of aesthetics but is definitely good in terms of flow, movement and exhibit placement. I liked that one. It also has some huge ponds outside the building close to its perimeter that has some large koi fishes. Overall a good place for a one day trip, and it’s always better to visit and leave early. Check with the authorities for official timings.

However, it’s hard to ignore the missed potential. The tourism department appears to be underperforming, especially given the vast opportunities available to develop the area into a major attraction. Neyyar wildlife sanctuary has boating service along with elephant visits, deer visits, crocodile visits. Ticket fare is 100rs per adult. It's a very good view through the boat. The park has 2 elephants of one male and one female, lot of deers and you can see monkeys too. There will be guide who guides you and also convey all the information regarding park and animals. In the area where crocodiles are placed, has a python too. Each crocodiles are kept in separate cage. When you move forward you can go to the neyyar dam. A watch tower, dam, children's park, aquarium, swimming pool are provided. As all those near by, it will be a good spot.

Nice place situated near to Neyyar dam. We visited after rainy season so that there was water in the reservoir. There is no lion safari now. It is closed and there are no lions now. Picturesque views. We could able to see parts of hills from agastyarkoodam, kurishumala etc. There were three packages available. We took package-1 which covers deer park,crocodile park,elephants (1 big and 1 young one) and boating for 1 hour at 2900/-. Guides were there inorder to provide the information all the time. Boating was so good with panoramic views. Only 2-3 crocodiles are there in the crocodile park. We have to walk through a small narrow forest path unordered to see the deer park which was nice. We heard from one of the employee that all the lions are dead so that they have to shut down the safari. Earlier at a point, there were 16 male lions and it was difficult to feed them. And there were no profit from the sanctuary also. So one doctor approved for the sterilization procedure which made them infertile. It was a sad story.

All the elephants are rescued animals. Visiting for the 2nd time and this time due to heavy rain during monsoon the pathway was blocked by fallen trees and electric lines hence could not view the elephant feeding and bathing and I was taken for a limited sighting of elephants. But the rain made the atmosphere and greenery looks even better. This place also has a couple of trekking options. Location is around 15 km from kattakada. Must visit when visiting Trivandrum.

I visited Konni Eco Tourism Centre recently. The place is naturally beautiful and has good potential for eco-tourism, but honestly, I felt it is not maintained as well as it should be. Some areas looked neglected, and with proper care the place could be much more attractive. Parking is available near the entrance (₹15 for two-wheelers, ₹40 for cars), which is convenient. However, the entry fee (₹80 for adults) feels a bit high compared to what is currently offered inside. For the amount they charge, visitors expect better facilities, cleaner surroundings, and more engaging activities. It is still a peaceful spot to spend some time in nature, but in my opinion, it doesn’t feel fully worth the ticket price. With better upkeep and a little more attention to detail, this centre could definitely become a top eco-tourism destination. NB: Only card or GPay is accepted at the ticket counter

A place which holds historical values in elephant nursing. But this place now looks unprotected without proper care. Many staffs but not maintaining properly. No baby elephant, they charge 80 per person which doesn’t make any value inside.

Agasthiyar falls are on the way from Papanasam temple to the dam area. One has to walk 500 m to get to the falls from the parking area. Most of the people going there take a bath in the falls. A separate bathing area and dress changing facility is provided for women. Overall a nice picnic spot. It was good but they allow only up to 5 pm. Overall it was nice place to spend some time. Water was clean and there is a special Siva temple which should be visited... the water falls was not a very big one. separate bathing area for gents and ladies.ladies crowd also large and ladies area also small. for gents it quite large and crows also less. the area not so neat.weekends will be crowded.water flow was good when we went on august.the road from papanasam checkpost will be narrow and hilly.probablity of trafiic jam during weekend is very high. we had 2 hours of jam. beware of monkey. only two small hotels are there near the falls. during break fast they serve poori and idly and lunch only tomotto rice and curd rice. dont miss kalyana theertham the path way is not neat. but the view point is good and temple above is very divine.

truly a beautiful spot to visit. The surroundings are calm with a cool breeze that refreshes the mind. There’s plenty of parking space, and the adult entry ticket is ₹70. It’s best to visit on normal days, as weekends and holidays can get very crowded. Private vehicles are not allowed near the falls since it’s a forest area, but the office provides shuttle buses (two are available) to take visitors from the parking area to the waterfall. The staff and security are very friendly and helpful—one security officer even helped us take pictures. There are small shops nearby for tea and snacks, and clean bathrooms are also available. Bathing at the waterfall is comparatively safe, and steps are provided to climb up for better views and photos. Payments are cashless, so only UPI or cards are accepted. Overall, it’s a well-maintained place and worth visiting. The best time to go is early in the morning. The falls open at 8 AM.

We recently visited Palaruvi Waterfalls, and it was an amazing experience! From the ticket counter, it’s about a 3 km ride to the falls, and visitors are taken there by the park’s bus service since private vehicles aren’t allowed. The waterfall offers a stunning view, and bathing in the cool, refreshing water was truly enjoyable. There are changing rooms available for women, which is very convenient. The area does have quite a few monkeys, so it’s best to keep an eye on your belongings and avoid taking food outside. The place wasn’t too crowded, making it perfect for a peaceful trip with family or friends.

A must-visit natural wonder! Palaruvi Waterfall is truly one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Kerala. Paal means milk and aruvi means waterfalls .A Refreshing experience worth the travel. This is located in Kerala and very well maintained(Unlike the several badly maintained falls in Tamilnadu). To protect our environment, Plastic Bottles and eatables are not allowed.The vehicle by which we travel has to be parked and all visitors need to travel 2 to 3 kms in the Forest department buses which is mandatory. The staff were very courteous as we waited in the queue and were making us comfortable. The view was stunning but involved climbing a path ! Can't bathe directly under the strong flow . A small area where we can take a dip in the cool, flowing waters was very refreshing !

Nice place to visit, Well maintained by the Kerala Forest Department. Friendly staff in guiding us too. Amble parking space. The transportation arranged is also good. The only drawback I saw here is the wait till me for transportation when we return back. People coming in groups keep on coming at different times and these people kept on entering in between the queues increasing the waiting times of the people already waiting there ,.especially the elder people and people with kids . I would humbly request deploying more staff on thr waiting area to avoid such situations, so as to ensure the smooth functioning of this tourist place.

A good temple with Lord Siva in his mang manifestations along with other gods. One sincere request to the Govt of Tamilnadu is to introduce english too in name boards as people who can't read Tamil gets confused seeing the same Sivalinga in many locations. Visited Arulmigu Kasi Viswanathar Temple and it was wonderful. The tall Gopuram and beautiful carvings are stunning. The temple is peaceful and a large space area with neat and clean maintaining atmosphere. It's a great place to visit for anyone who loves history, spirituality, or just wants to experience something beautiful. Everyone visiting courtallam and nearby areas must visit this temple.

This was my 2nd visit after 11 years. Not changed much. A simple temple. Good architecture not great like tanjavur. But still it is an important temple in the region.

Every time in upstairs when I see the majestic gopuram, it feels truly divine. When we enter the temple , the air itself seems to welcome us with a sacred energy. The darshan of the Shiva Lingam is so powerful that it brings goosebumps & tears to the eyes. A must visit temple that fills the heart with devotion and peace.

A must visit Temple when visiting Tenkasi, A peaceful and delightful experience visiting this 🛕. The surroundings of this temple also was neat and well maintained when we visited. The only issue we found here was the provision for parking, we must be lucky enough to find a spot. Tenkasi is built around the Kasi Viswanathar temple. The queue is extremely long — it takes around 8 to 9 hours to reach the temple. If you are going with children or elderly people, it can be very dangerous because of the huge crowd. The security and police don’t seem to take much control, and most areas are so dirty that you can’t even place your feet comfortably. Once you enter the queue, you cannot step out or find a place to sit. If it rains, the situation becomes even worse — the ground gets messy and unhygienic. I personally waited for more than 8 hours, surviving only on a little water and a few biscuits. If there’s an emergency or someone needs to use the toilet, it’s almost impossible to leave the line. Seeing this made me question whether God truly exists here, because the place feels so unholy and inhumane. It literally felt like hell — plastic and garbage are scattered everywhere along the path. While the pathway itself is decent, people keep littering despite there being waste bins around. So, the problem isn’t with the government or the Devaswom Board, but with people’s mindset. Even though this temple is in the middle of a forest, people pollute it on their way to see God. It feels like the place has become more about business than devotion. We must remember — if there is any God, it’s within us, and only people can make a change, not any divine being.

Sabarimala is the sacred abode of swamy ayyappan and is situated on a hilly forest terrain in ranni perunad village in pathanamthitta district. This is the only temple in our country having a pincode 689713. Sabarimala is administered by atheists is a disgrace. Legendary belief is that after the victory over the demon, lord ayyappa meditated at sabarimala and attained moksha thus transforming this place as spiritual destination and worshipping here is highly auspicious. The holy eighteen sacred steps pathinettam padi is the main stairway to the temple. Here swamy ayyappa is placed gracefully in a beautiful sanctum sanctorum with dwarapalakas. Acknowledging the traditional importance and to adapt contemporary sensibilities temple is opened for five days every month. Main pilgrimage season is the mandala makara vilakku from november to january for sixty seven days. During the year temple will be opened for certain festival days also for a short period. Pilgrimers observe 41 days celibacy as customary principle for darshan to this temple. As part of custom womens of menstruating ages will not go for darshan. Without any dress code devotees themselves wear black or blue coloured shirts and dhotis. Here devotees address each other as 'ayyappa' or "swamy" and not by their names. Pilgrimers wear a thulasi bead carry a sacred bunch called as irumudi packed with cloth pouch filled with dried rice, ghee filled coconut, arcenut, jaggery, betel, coin, kadali pazham. Irumudi can be packed at pamba ganapathy temple. Atfirst to reach near nilackal for parking and by state transport bus to pampa. All trek barefoot towards sannidhanam from pamba which is the commonly preferred route. Some prefer other traditional trek routes such as erumeli kalaketti pampa and vandiperiyar sathram pulmedu sannidhanam. After wetting feet in the pampa river take darshan in pampa ganapathy temple and start trekking towards sannidhanam on the stone tiled paths passing through the divinely significant places such as sabaripeedam, pandithavalam, cheriyanavattam, neelimala, apachimedu and atlast reach sannidhanam. Those disabled can avail the dolly services. Free food at pamba and sannidhanam available but is conducted in a disgraceful manner. Those with irumudi kettu are only allowed pathinettam padi access. Devotees can offer for various rituals such as neyyabhishekam, ashtabhishekam, kalasabhishekam, kalabhabhishekam, pushpabhishekam which is also not systematically organized. Aravana and appam available as prasadam but commercialized. Common devotees are put to much hardship and maximum sufferings kept waited for long hours in long ques and are pulled out inhumanly before sopanam without enabling a small glimpse of the lord. Only bigwigs entourage found given undue privileges enabling smooth darshan. Moreover contributions of devotees seems not properly utilized for devotee friendly infrastructure improvements as the pilgrim facilities found inadequate in nilackal, pamba, erumeli and sannidhanam. Online bookings for darshan and accommodations handled unprofessionally. Being a globally revered divine destination sabarimala lacks professionalism and transparency in administration as it requires a separate devaswam and at the helm a IAS officer.

A 2nd biggest siva temple in world,with very huge 3(3 for ambal + 3 for shiva)pragarams. Gomathy ambal is very gorgeous 😍 (gnanasakthi swaroopam). I have given 5 starts because every inch of the temple are very clean , Management is not shown that much interest in commercializing darshan( No 100rs,50 rs tickets for darshan) only 5 rs that too not required for all days . Saw about this temple online and planned for a visit during trip to tamilnadu. Temple gopuram was very captivating and you can see padmanabha swamy and Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and andal birth place. This padmanabha swamy is very clearly visible and priest explained everyone around lord Vishnu and it is very beautiful. Definitely go and take blessings. This temple is about 10 minutes walk from Srivilliputhur bus stand. Went here on a weekday and this temple was not crowded. From the gopuram which we are we enter the main temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Andal temple is situated in left side of the Vishnu temple. We can take mobiles inside the Vishnu temple but mobile phones are not allowed inside Andal temple and mobiles have to be deposited at mobile keeping centres in front of Andal temple. The sculptures at Andal temple are great. Outside of temple on the road there are many shops which sell the famous Srivilliputhur palkova. Srivilliputhur does not have many hotel's or restaurants. A peaceful and memorable visit to Madurai Meenakshi Temple I recently visited the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and it was a beautiful experience. The temple is grand and full of history, with amazing carvings and colorful towers. At the moment, the towers are under renovation and painting work is going on, so most of them are covered. Still, the temple’s beauty and energy can be felt everywhere. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and spiritual. The darshan of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar felt very peaceful. Even though it was crowded, everything was fairly well organized. One thing to be careful about — there are a lot of people outside trying to mislead visitors, especially auto drivers and some shopkeepers. They might say there’s no cloakroom inside, but don’t believe that. There are official cloakrooms near all four temple towers where you can safely keep your slippers and mobile phones. This place is awesome. A lot of spiritual values with history. Located in between City. Market, shops, restaurant near by. Special Darshan can be available with 100 rs ticket for both temple inside the campus. Free darshan takes more time than usual. Now painting work is going on. And maybe it will six months atleast so now people not able to see it's beautiful architecture from outside. Mobile, Smart watch, earbuds etc not allowed inside temple. U can kept it in claok room with reasonable price less than 20rs accordingly. No special dress code required for this temple. Nearest junction is madurai and auto available easily or u can go by walk.

One of the most famous Temple of India , situation in Madurai. It's temple of Meenakshi Amman otherwise known as Devi Parvathi. Don't miss this temple ,it's also one of the oldest temple in India . Best time to visit will be during 5 or 6 AM in the morning,so that you can finish darshan in less than 30mins ,it gets crowded later in the day . Shoe storage is available for free at specific counters, which is very convenient. Mobile phones and electronic gadgets are not allowed inside the temple premises, and you cannot leave your phone inside your bag. There is a special counter meant only for mobile phones, where they charge ₹5 per phone. So if you are planning to visit, it’s best to come hands-free or carry only what’s necessary so you can enter peacefully and enjoy the temple without any hassle. Sadly they are not letting mobiles inside .. I only carry memory in my mind .. such a waste of opportunity for them to show case 1000 pillars to all the people I know in my life … lots of things need to be changed in India… if we take pictures and share to our friends there is more awareness spread around… it feels why are they even allowing people to visit .. are they not aware of that we are stealing the images in our mind and memory and taking them along… oh lord curse some of these people so they wake up….

It is located inside the temple campus and entry tickets is 5rs per head. Only cash payment.Make sure carry change for entry tickets. If you love sculptures and want to experience the old madurai photod and temple history this is must visit place.

This is a museum cum art gallery of the mandir. It contains old sculptures, rare photos and various artifacts. Ticket cost is ₹5 for adults, ₹2 for children, ₹50 for foreigners. Ticket counter is at the entrance itself. To observe and admire the artifacts atvleast 30 minutes time is required to be spent here. Overall experience is good.

It's one of beautiful place where it has different pillar carvings. Also it exhibits all statue exhibits along with some painting. They charge INR 5 per head so carry cash to enter. There is a musical pillar which you can see at an corner but can touch as it's barricaded

One of the tourist attraction depicting our ancient culture and all round developments of Pandya kings whose capital was Madurai. As the name suggested this Mandapam has approximately 1000 pillars. Exactly 985 Big pillars and 22 small pillars which produce musical notes are seen here. Very rare sculptures of Gods and Goddesses with ancient yalis, sculptures and warring animals, rare to see Manmadan and Rathi, Veerabadrar, Chockanathar, Natrajar etc are significant ones. It is a must visit museum with a very nominal fees.

Located inside the Meenkashi Amman Temple in the two and a half millenium old city of Madurai. The beauty of this construction is that standing at any point in this Mantapam, all the pillars appear to go away in a straight line from the point of viewing Each of the pillars is tall with life-like sculptures of mythical people The hall is large and very cool even in the blistering heat outside Nowadays photography isn't allowed inside this monument, but once upon a time, one could take pictures with a mobile camera... The entrance fee is a nominal ₹ 10 and the place deserves a visit...

What power the sculptures were having then to craft such a beautiful monumental structure. The presiding deity inside this hall is Natarajar. Very finely carved columns on both sides of the hall, fills the heart with joy. This place is striving as museum also. A rich heritage is passed on to us to feel proud. Photography not allowed. So no photos.

Do not visit this place until they finish their renovation. It’s total waste of money and time. On each side of main building which is under renovation, there are two galleries. One is paid and another is either free or included in the price. Staffs at both centre were taking their mid noon nap and was not bothered to greet or say hello. All what’s on display was in a very bad state. There were lots of spelling mistakes on all the writings. Someone accountable, please have a look. This is not what a Gandhi Museum in India should look like even when it’s on renovation. Very very very disappointed and has never seen anything pathetic like this.

Didn't go there. This is always in renovation. Wase r of time. Glad that ticket cost is not so high, just ten rupees per adult and five rupees for kids. Museum renovated for ever ..this is a bad administration for all relevant departments. And it's a huge reputation damage to the City. I urge honorable district collector sir to jump in an look into this on priority.

Main museum is under renovation (it was supposed to have reopened by now), government museum is often closed depending on the day, and the only thing to see is a small exhibit on the Indian independence movement, a replica of Gandhi’s house, and a shrine that (supposedly) contains some of his ashes. Worth 30-45 minutes if you’re already in the area otherwise skip it - you can get the same information about Gandhi online quite easily. Also why is there a giant T-Rex at a Gandhi memorial? Seems a bit distasteful.

I visited this place on 17th July 2025. There was only a small gallery where you could learn about india's journey from when the britishers started colonising to the independence period.. it would take 30- 40 mins to see this gallery. A lot of history that we learned in school and more can be understood from here. In addition to this there is a small museum that was open. There is also a small memorial where Gandhijis ashes are kept. However, the main museum was closed for renovation. Based on my interaction with one staff member, it seems the closed part of the museum would re-open on 2nd October 2025. Pls check with the latest info.. i have seen many reviewers criticizing the staff working there. However, i never faced any issues and the staff were very polite.

The government museum was closed as we visited on a second Saturday. Some sections of the museum were set up on some individual buildings which we could see. Our experience was good.

Visited the museum on 2 October 2025.. The main museum (palace) was closed for renovation. Some pictures, books and written facts about Gandhiji and freedom struggle is displayed in the gallery. There is a small bookshop near the gallery. Saw the Asthi peedam. Gandhi kutir was closed. The small museum to the left was closed. It has many historical artifacts. # Inside the gallery the staffs were watching reels with high volume. # The security in front of the small museum was very rude. As tourists we may not know everything about the museum and buildings. So if we ask something I believe they should answer politely or guide us to someone who is more informed.

A good place depicting Gandhi s life… takes 45 minutes to see… very spacious.. Gandhi s blooded last cloths are placed here for exhibition.. Indian freedom movement is portrayed here… good place overall… Gandhian studies are taught here.. calm environment…

Must visit place if you are visiting madurai One of the best view you will have * Little Suggestion: there are 2 more temple upward so must go there and 1) if you are visiting these 2 temple have a extra pair of clothes because in noopura gangai rakkayi amman temple take bath i would suggest a 15rs tickets otherwise in free line it would take more then hour even if you see there are only 10 person in line so it's recommended. 2) take Madurai - Natham Rd , yes it more distance but you will found best view this route. It is closed to mountain and no traffic and nice road quility. 3) travel in evening try to reach before 4:00 PM so you can enjoy all 3 temple and on the way to mountain lots of monkeys (not so harmful) but drive safely

Before visiting to this temple that I was not aware about the story of how lord Vishnu played the role of brother for durga mata in her marriage...and thus temple is dedicated to brother of Durga maa that is kallazghar akka vishnu ji.. This temple is really mesmerizing...in love with this temple because of location, the carvings, the positivity of the temple that you will feel instant divine connection. The famous kal alagar temple located in the hills of alagarmalai is quite a beautiful place to visit in Madurai. There’s a huge parking area outside the temple complex. The gopuram is tall and sculptures are well preserved. The main shrine is located 100 meters approx from the main entrance. Average waiting time is 15 to 20 minutes on weekdays

The temple is truly beautiful, and the prasadham is excellent. If devotees visit, the free line moves faster than the paid one, which is convenient. The Ramanujar shrine is a peaceful spot where you can rest, and the Perumal looks stunning. A visit to Shakarathalvar is a must, but before that, make sure to stop by the Karupu Swami Kovil at the entrance—the aroma of his sandhanam is heavenly. After that, you can see Azhagar and explore the other shrines at a slow and relaxed pace, making the visit truly enjoyable. The temples maintainance was so good and kept clean.

For those who prefer not to climb, there is a kovil van facility available to reach the hilltop, which is very convenient and costs just ₹10 per person. The ride is smooth and well-managed. Pazhamudhircholai, one of Lord Murugan’s Arupadai Veedu, is where Avvai Patti received wisdom from Murugan himself — about hot and cold fruits! I visited on a Sunday around 5:30 pm, there was quite a crowd, so I took the ₹100 darshan ticket. If you wait for about 30 minutes, the rush settles down and you can have a peaceful darshan. The picture gallery is lovely they even give a Murugan Valli Devasenai photo with a coin, a nice keepsake for pooja, travel, or gifting to others. The temple layout is beautiful: Vinayagar shrine comes first, Murugan with Valli and Devasenai in the center, and the Vel shrine at the end. Set on a hill, the place is cool and serene though the monkeys are plenty and a bit aggressive thanks to frequent feeding. So, guard your food and belongings! A visit here is a true delight, especially to see the ancient Kadugal and soak in the divine calm of the hills.

Don't miss the nearby Noopura Ganga, a sacred stream said to have divine origins. The entire area feels untouched and blessed. Tips: Footwear must be removed at the base before heading up the steps. Morning and evening visits are best to avoid the heat. Carry water and be respectful of the natural surroundings. Highly recommend this temple not just for devotees, but also for nature lovers and peace seekers.

Unique feeling when I reached Murugan Temple to pray 🙏. I really recommend walking your way up to the temple — it makes the experience even more special. The most wholesome part of my journey was meeting new friends along the way; it truly made the trip unforgettable. Small temple from the Aarupadai lot and open at all times. Vehicle parking is available on the road sides. Slightly ghat section and people will be walking all along to climb up/down. You will see much crowd in boarding the bus rather than at the Temple itself. Highly recommended to go on own transport.

Visited around 6 pm on Monday, waiting time was less than 5 mins as there was some puja was performed. Had a wonderful darshan and it was raining after we came out.

Very good temple and no heavy rush simple darsan, even in the weekend also. It takes only 15 minutes for darsan. Deity also devotional made with alankaram and properly visible.

Must visit place at Chettinad. Their arrangement of queue for darsan is something we should appreciate. And old cave temple. The large vinayaka inside all are very much attractive. You could spend some good time there. You would face some traffic block there as there s much crowd at holidays. One more thing if you are visiting here just visit vintage car n camera museum nearby

So please take care of that and also a strict dres code is followed. The temple has a lot of rich history and importance. There is no ticket and limited security to control the movement of crowd so there can be chaos. The parking space is ample and it is paid parking. The temple is well connected by state bus and you can get taxi from nearby places like Madurai or Karaikudi

Nice Small Fort. Family friendly area. 50 to 75 steps but manageable . Avoid heat timings or use an umbrella. Left side a siva linga available. Careful while on the ladder. Totally worthy of you having extra time while going through nearby area.

The Fort Structure is large and has a towering granite walls with cannon(artillery gun). Rock cut Temple, Impressive sculptures. Lord shivalinga is also there inside it hard to climb so avoid that. Well maintained fort by TN govt. Ticket: 25 for Adult. Wear Sensible Footwear: The site involves climbing, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Visit in the Morning: Exploring in the morning offers a quieter experience. Limited Facilities: Some reviews mention a lack of amenities, so plan accordingly.

The fort will not be an apt word for this. Seems like a watch tower to me. It has a Siva temple which I saw. But in google it says there is a Vishnu temple and a darbar too in it which I couldn't identify. No guide , no signages . Archeological India should ensure all these exist. The entry by paying in office is 25/person, payment online it's 20/ person. Why this disparities is not clear. Should display and promote local items sale .

Best place to visit at evening... I enjoyed so much... At the top of the fort you can see the whole city.. actually fort wall designed layer by layer to prevent and attack the enemies.. near fort siva and perumal kudaivarai statue temple is located.. you can visit that also... CURIOSITY DRIVES TO THIS AREA AND ALSO FOUND A MARVELLOUS TEMPLE INSIDE THIS ROCK AREA. FORT WAS BUILT IN 1687 . VEERAPANDYA KATTABOMMAN A HEROIC PALAYAKKARA CHIEFTAIN BRAVELY FOUGHT AGAINST BRITISH RULE IN THIS AREA AND BEEN HANGED BY THE WHITES.HIS BROTHER OOMATHURAI ALSO CONTINUED HIS FOOTSTEPS AND KILLED BY BRITISH IN THIS FORT.

When in trichy, you can go to this temple but please make sure you are fit to climb around 300 steps. If you have any knee pain or foot pain, please skip this temple. Visit this temple only by taking an auto as its located in a very chaotic and busy lanes of the market area.

Think about 400 steps but worth it for the view when you get to the top, shoes are not allowed, plenty of things to see along the way and rest if get tired, if unfit go when it is cooler.

Good temple to visit in Trichy. No wheelchair accessible entrance ♿. Photography is not allowed once inside the sreekovil. Great view once you reach the top. Resting bench and water is available at top of the fort.

A very huge and beautiful Shiva temple..the paintings on walls are incredible and one of the best dipicting the stories around the temple significance..one has to see those painting in live...color full paintings..one of the best and must place to visit in trichy, need to climb around 200 steps visit the temple. The view from the top of the hill is amazing and incredible. The entire trichy city can be viewed and the river kaveri can be viewed and the banks of river kaveri.

A padal Petra sthalm. This temple is so famous in the name of Utchi Pillayar temple. When you step up to Utchi Pillayar temple this Thayumanavar (shiva) temple, Mouna madam temple, Meenakshi Sundreshwarer temple, many small temple (sculpture) and also Pallava caves is on this route. Big step around 600 is there. All temple are well maintained. You should have to spend about 3 hours to get your dharsan and photos.

Peaceful and spiritual experience at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. I visited the temple yesterday on the full moon day. It was quite crowded, with special prayers going on, but the atmosphere was very peaceful and filled with devotion. Such a worthy visit. Best temple to visit if you love ancient architecture. Best time to visit will be early in the morning and early in the evening before the temple closes, to avoid crowd. I was not able to get a Darshan because of the long que, even though it was disappointing, the exploration into the architecture made me compensate.

Srirangam is a magnificent temple with a vast, beautifully maintained complex. The divine idol of Anantha Shayana Vishnu in the main sanctum is truly awe-inspiring. Don’t miss the Lakshmi and Garuda shrines. The temple is very clean and well-managed. You can also opt for the ₹500 official ticket for direct darshan.

This temple coumpound is large, well maintained except few areas. Free place to keep shoes. Mobiles allowed. I could see n elephant & there's also cow shed inside . It looks like more easy going temple than others.

This temple in Srirangam is around 2 kms from the more famous Ranganatha temple. It is dedicated to Jambukeshwarar (Shiva) and Akhilandeswari (Parvathi). Legend has it that Parvathi prayed in the Jambu forrest and created a lingam made of water from Kaveri river. This temple is one of the pancha bhoota sthalams, signifying water as its element. As one enters one of the gopurams, one gets the feeling that the temple is relatively small with an open space, pond and gardens. When one goes further inside, the massive enclosure in which the temple stands reveals itself. The precincts are beautiful, some of them with many ornate pillars. The sanctum of the temple is dedicated to Lord Jambukeshwarar and is a small space where not more than 5 people can stand at a time. It is a beautiful structure and a must visit for anyone visiting Srirangam/Trichy along with the Ranganatha temple. We did not see any designated parking around the temple and had to park on one of the lanes in the vicinity.

Divine Evening Visit to Jambukeshwara Temple We visited the Jambukeshwara Temple in the evening, and it was a serene and peaceful experience. This temple represents the Jala Lingam (water element) among the five Panchabootha Lingas, and it was our final stop to complete the sacred journey of all five. The temple’s architecture is beautiful, and the spiritual energy inside is truly calming. The approach roads are quite narrow, but there is sufficient parking space near the temple. Inside, we were delighted to see the temple elephant, which added to the traditional and sacred atmosphere. The priests were polite and helpful, and the overall experience was memorable and spiritually fulfilling — highly recommended for anyone visiting Trichy!

A simple yet beautiful Shiva shrine surrounded by an awe-inspiring enclosure of mandapams and pathways. The entrance, with the Nandi Mandapam and its four gigantic pillars, is among the most magnificent in any South Indian temple. Visit very much recommended. There is a new rule of no photography but you can carry your cames in the temple.

The temple has fine architecture. It is believed that goddess Akilandeswari is worshipping Lord Siva daily at noon. An archagar dressessed as a lady worshipping Jambukeswarar and cow at noon. Cow puja is famous here..

A huge temple complex Jabukeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is worshipped as the water element in this temple. It is around 10kms from the city of Trichy or Tiruchirapalli. On weekdays the temple here usually open at 5.00am and closes at 12.30 pm. And opens again at 4.00pm. One suggestion to all travelers do not refer timings given on Google to schedule your visit. Timings may change unexpectedly.
