This temple coumpound is large, well maintained except few areas. Free place to keep shoes. Mobiles allowed. I could see n elephant & there's also cow shed inside . It looks like more easy going temple than others.

This temple in Srirangam is around 2 kms from the more famous Ranganatha temple. It is dedicated to Jambukeshwarar (Shiva) and Akhilandeswari (Parvathi). Legend has it that Parvathi prayed in the Jambu forrest and created a lingam made of water from Kaveri river. This temple is one of the pancha bhoota sthalams, signifying water as its element. As one enters one of the gopurams, one gets the feeling that the temple is relatively small with an open space, pond and gardens. When one goes further inside, the massive enclosure in which the temple stands reveals itself. The precincts are beautiful, some of them with many ornate pillars. The sanctum of the temple is dedicated to Lord Jambukeshwarar and is a small space where not more than 5 people can stand at a time. It is a beautiful structure and a must visit for anyone visiting Srirangam/Trichy along with the Ranganatha temple. We did not see any designated parking around the temple and had to park on one of the lanes in the vicinity.

This temple represents the Jala Lingam (water element) among the five Panchabootha Lingas, and it was our final stop to complete the sacred journey of all five. The temple’s architecture is beautiful, and the spiritual energy inside is truly calming. The approach roads are quite narrow, but there is sufficient parking space near the temple. Inside, we were delighted to see the temple elephant, which added to the traditional and sacred atmosphere. The priests were polite and helpful, and the overall experience was memorable and spiritually fulfilling — highly recommended for anyone visiting Trichy!

A simple yet beautiful Shiva shrine surrounded by an awe-inspiring enclosure of mandapams and pathways. The entrance, with the Nandi Mandapam and its four gigantic pillars, is among the most magnificent in any South Indian temple. Visit very much recommended. There is a new rule of no photography but you can carry your cames in the temple.

The temple has fine architecture. It is believed that goddess Akilandeswari is worshipping Lord Siva daily at noon. An archagar dressessed as a lady worshipping Jambukeswarar and cow at noon. Cow puja is famous here..

On weekdays the temple here usually open at 5.00am and closes at 12.30 pm. And opens again at 4.00pm. One suggestion to all travelers do not refer timings given on Google to schedule your visit. Timings may change unexpectedly.

Such a worthy visit. Best temple to visit if you love ancient architecture. Best time to visit will be early in the morning and early in the evening before the temple closes, to avoid crowd. I was not able to get a Darshan because of the long que, even though it was disappointing, the exploration into the architecture made me compensate.

Don’t miss the Lakshmi and Garuda shrines. The temple is very clean and well-managed. You can also opt for the ₹500 official ticket for direct darshan.

When in trichy, you can go to this temple but please make sure you are fit to climb around 300 steps. If you have any knee pain or foot pain, please skip this temple. Visit this temple only by taking an auto as its located in a very chaotic and busy lanes of the market area.

Think about 400 steps but worth it for the view when you get to the top, shoes are not allowed, plenty of things to see along the way and rest if get tired, if unfit go when it is cooler.

A very huge and beautiful Shiva temple..the paintings on walls are incredible and one of the best dipicting the stories around the temple significance..one has to see those painting in live...color full paintings..one of the best and must place to visit in trichy, need to climb around 200 steps visit the temple. The view from the top of the hill is amazing and incredible. The entire trichy city can be viewed and the river kaveri can be viewed and the banks of river kaveri.

A padal Petra sthalm. This temple is so famous in the name of Utchi Pillayar temple. When you step up to Utchi Pillayar temple this Thayumanavar (shiva) temple, Mouna madam temple, Meenakshi Sundreshwarer temple, many small temple (sculpture) and also Pallava caves is on this route. Big step around 600 is there. All temple are well maintained. You should have to spend about 3 hours to get your dharsan and photos.

The fort will not be an apt word for this. Seems like a watch tower to me. It has a Siva temple which I saw. But in google it says there is a Vishnu temple and a darbar too in it which I couldn't identify. No guide , no signages . Archeological India should ensure all these exist. The entry by paying in office is 25/person, payment online it's 20/ person. Why this disparities is not clear. Should display and promote local items sale .

Pazhamudhircholai, one of Lord Murugan’s Arupadai Veedu, is where Avvai Patti received wisdom from Murugan himself — about hot and cold fruits! I visited on a Sunday around 5:30 pm, there was quite a crowd, so I took the ₹100 darshan ticket. If you wait for about 30 minutes, the rush settles down and you can have a peaceful darshan. The picture gallery is lovely they even give a Murugan Valli Devasenai photo with a coin, a nice keepsake for pooja, travel, or gifting to others. The temple layout is beautiful: Vinayagar shrine comes first, Murugan with Valli and Devasenai in the center, and the Vel shrine at the end. Set on a hill, the place is cool and serene though the monkeys are plenty and a bit aggressive thanks to frequent feeding. So, guard your food and belongings! A visit here is a true delight, especially to see the ancient Kadugal and soak in the divine calm of the hills.

Small temple from the Aarupadai lot and open at all times. Vehicle parking is available on the road sides. Slightly ghat section and people will be walking all along to climb up/down. You will see much crowd in boarding the bus rather than at the Temple itself. Highly recommended to go on own transport.

The famous kal alagar temple located in the hills of alagarmalai is quite a beautiful place to visit in Madurai. There’s a huge parking area outside the temple complex. The gopuram is tall and sculptures are well preserved. The main shrine is located 100 meters approx from the main entrance. Average waiting time is 15 to 20 minutes on weekdays

After that, you can see Azhagar and explore the other shrines at a slow and relaxed pace, making the visit truly enjoyable. The temples maintainance was so good and kept clean.

Do not visit this place until they finish their renovation. It’s total waste of money and time. On each side of main building which is under renovation, there are two galleries. One is paid and another is either free or included in the price. Staffs at both centre were taking their mid noon nap and was not bothered to greet or say hello. All what’s on display was in a very bad state. There were lots of spelling mistakes on all the writings. Someone accountable, please have a look. This is not what a Gandhi Museum in India should look like even when it’s on renovation. Very very very disappointed and has never seen anything pathetic like this.

Didn't go there. This is always in renovation. Wase r of time. Glad that ticket cost is not so high, just ten rupees per adult and five rupees for kids. Museum renovated for ever ..this is a bad administration for all relevant departments. And it's a huge reputation damage to the City. I urge honorable district collector sir to jump in an look into this on priority.

Main museum is under renovation (it was supposed to have reopened by now), government museum is often closed depending on the day, and the only thing to see is a small exhibit on the Indian independence movement, a replica of Gandhi’s house, and a shrine that (supposedly) contains some of his ashes. Worth 30-45 minutes if you’re already in the area otherwise skip it - you can get the same information about Gandhi online quite easily. Also why is there a giant T-Rex at a Gandhi memorial? Seems a bit distasteful.

I visited this place on 17th July 2025. There was only a small gallery where you could learn about india's journey from when the britishers started colonising to the independence period.. it would take 30- 40 mins to see this gallery. A lot of history that we learned in school and more can be understood from here. In addition to this there is a small museum that was open. There is also a small memorial where Gandhijis ashes are kept. However, the main museum was closed for renovation. Based on my interaction with one staff member, it seems the closed part of the museum would re-open on 2nd October 2025. Pls check with the latest info.. i have seen many reviewers criticizing the staff working there. However, i never faced any issues and the staff were very polite.

The government museum was closed as we visited on a second Saturday. Some sections of the museum were set up on some individual buildings which we could see. Our experience was good.

There is a small bookshop near the gallery. Saw the Asthi peedam. Gandhi kutir was closed. The small museum to the left was closed. It has many historical artifacts. # Inside the gallery the staffs were watching reels with high volume. # The security in front of the small museum was very rude. As tourists we may not know everything about the museum and buildings. So if we ask something I believe they should answer politely or guide us to someone who is more informed.

A good place depicting Gandhi s life… takes 45 minutes to see… very spacious.. Gandhi s blooded last cloths are placed here for exhibition.. Indian freedom movement is portrayed here… good place overall… Gandhian studies are taught here.. calm environment…

Sadly they are not letting mobiles inside .. I only carry memory in my mind .. such a waste of opportunity for them to show case 1000 pillars to all the people I know in my life … lots of things need to be changed in India… if we take pictures and share to our friends there is more awareness spread around… it feels why are they even allowing people to visit .. are they not aware of that we are stealing the images in our mind and memory and taking them along… oh lord curse some of these people so they wake up….

This is a museum cum art gallery of the mandir. It contains old sculptures, rare photos and various artifacts. Ticket cost is ₹5 for adults, ₹2 for children, ₹50 for foreigners. Ticket counter is at the entrance itself. To observe and admire the artifacts atvleast 30 minutes time is required to be spent here. Overall experience is good.

It's one of beautiful place where it has different pillar carvings. Also it exhibits all statue exhibits along with some painting. They charge INR 5 per head so carry cash to enter. There is a musical pillar which you can see at an corner but can touch as it's barricaded

One of the tourist attraction depicting our ancient culture and all round developments of Pandya kings whose capital was Madurai. As the name suggested this Mandapam has approximately 1000 pillars. Exactly 985 Big pillars and 22 small pillars which produce musical notes are seen here. Very rare sculptures of Gods and Goddesses with ancient yalis, sculptures and warring animals, rare to see Manmadan and Rathi, Veerabadrar, Chockanathar, Natrajar etc are significant ones. It is a must visit museum with a very nominal fees.

A peaceful and memorable visit to Madurai Meenakshi Temple I recently visited the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and it was a beautiful experience. The temple is grand and full of history, with amazing carvings and colorful towers. At the moment, the towers are under renovation and painting work is going on, so most of them are covered. Still, the temple’s beauty and energy can be felt everywhere. Inside, the atmosphere is calm and spiritual. The darshan of Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar felt very peaceful. Even though it was crowded, everything was fairly well organized. One thing to be careful about — there are a lot of people outside trying to mislead visitors, especially auto drivers and some shopkeepers. They might say there’s no cloakroom inside, but don’t believe that. There are official cloakrooms near all four temple towers where you can safely keep your slippers and mobile phones. This place is awesome. A lot of spiritual values with history. Located in between City. Market, shops, restaurant near by. Special Darshan can be available with 100 rs ticket for both temple inside the campus. Free darshan takes more time than usual. Now painting work is going on. And maybe it will six months atleast so now people not able to see it's beautiful architecture from outside. Mobile, Smart watch, earbuds etc not allowed inside temple. U can kept it in claok room with reasonable price less than 20rs accordingly. No special dress code required for this temple. Nearest junction is madurai and auto available easily or u can go by walk.

One of the most famous Temple of India , situation in Madurai. It's temple of Meenakshi Amman otherwise known as Devi Parvathi. Don't miss this temple ,it's also one of the oldest temple in India . Best time to visit will be during 5 or 6 AM in the morning,so that you can finish darshan in less than 30mins ,it gets crowded later in the day . Built in 16th Century, this Basilica dedicated to the Lady of Snows is a magnificent Church located close to the sea shore of Tuticorin. What makes it a minor Basilica ? A minor basilica is a title given by the Catholic Church to churches that are recognized for their historical significance, architectural beauty, and spiritual importance. To become a minor basilica, a church must meet certain criteria and follow a formal process. Here are the key requirements: It must have a historical significance, architectural merits and spiritual importance. This Church has all the 3 requirements. In addition it houses the holy relic of Our Mother Mary's veil ( a small slice). The main Statue brought from Portugal is credited with many miracles. Many of the statues here are brought from France and elsewhere in Europe. You will find that the Church still has strong roots of Catholicism - from the Latin words at the main altar - Sancta Maria - ora Pro Nobis - meaning Holy Mary - Pray for Us, to the grotto depicting Our lady of Lourdes. It even has a statue of our lady of Guadalupe here. If you travel to this part of tamil nadu, this Pani Madha Koil is one of the main points of attraction.

Just about a km and half from the Railway station, normally a cab or tuk tuk drive will cost only Rs.60 to reach the church the local drivers charge anywhere between Rs100-150. Can't crib over it. A quiet laid back place, fishing is the main occupation and business here.

Absolutely a nice and historical church to visit. But if your travelling from a long distance and preferred to stay at the church provided accommodation then please make sure you reach out to the right person with the different contactable number than the one that google advices to contact as it does not exist. Also there are limited rooms currently available and a huge gap in coordination. So, my great advice is to plan for the alternate arrangements for your stay to have a pleasant and divine experience.

I visited the Thiruchendur Murugar Temple last month. The temple is located near the seashore, and the surroundings looked very beautiful. Before going to the temple, I went to the beach and the Nazhikinaru Theertham, which are close to the temple. The sea breeze was cool and refreshing, and many people were enjoying themselves on the beach. I also visited Nazhikinaru, a small sacred well near the shore. The water there was surprisingly sweet, even though it is so close to the salty sea. I washed my hands and sprinkled a little water on my head before heading to the temple. After that, I entered the temple. The tall gopuram looked majestic, and I could hear devotional songs and temple bells. The temple was crowded with devotees but very clean and well managed. I slowly moved in the queue and had a nice darshan of Lord Murugar, who was beautifully decorated with flowers and ornaments. After the darshan, I received prasadam — warm and tasty sakkarai pongal. Then I went to the annadhanam hall, where they served hot food to all visitors. The meal was simple but delicious, and the volunteers served everyone kindly. Before leaving, I bought some small souvenirs from the nearby shops. My visit to Thiruchendur Murugar Temple was a happy and memorable experience.

The uniqueness of this temple is that all other 5 temples are located on a hill top or near a hill, but Tiruchendur is the only temple which is located near the sea shore. This temple is famous for the function kantha shasti or soora samharam, in which lord Subramaniya alias lord murugan kills the asuran Soorabhathman and saves the Devas from his torture. This temple is under the control of the Ministry of HR&CE , Government of Tamilnadu . Government has taken many measures to develop and increase the amenities for the people and the pilgrims to facilitate ease of movement of the crowd to worship the Lord Subramaniya and Lord Shanmuga which are the main deities of the temple.

Temple is near to beach. You can see sunrise and sunset while in the queue. It is not just a temple but a place full of peacocks. Beautiful nature. You can find budget friendly lodge near temple. We did not take any special ticket for darshan as it was weekday and no special occasion. But during occasion please opt for special darshan, it can reduce waiting time in queue. Definitely stay for a day and enjoy the beach view as well.

The temple just gives you peace , a different kind of energy you can feel once you enter the temple premises, for adults who are above 60 years of age can show there aadhaar can have a quick entry in the queue. This benefits are even for a new born. Along with a elder or a new born one can accompany. We get paneer leaf vibhoothi which is available inside the temple before darshan. Special queues are there that cost you around 100/- per person. Naali kinaru was in construction by the time we visited.

There are man made rules in this temple. Men are sent separately inside to see the deity & given the prasad while women are made to wait outside for the prasad and the theertham etc. Too patriarchial. One of the priest, is very much disrespectful towards women. Extremely senseless and artificial to the core. I have never seen this discrimination in any other temple. The system should improve in all aspects like treatment of women devotees, attitude of the priests, cleanliness et all. Being a Divya desam it should have been maintained in a much better way. Highly disappointing!

Nellaiyappar temple Such a monumental temple with extraordinary architecture. It was simply blissful to be there. Temple is just in the heart of Tirunelveli. There are multiple temples inside the campus. It’s will definitely take more than 1 hour to complete all gods. If you are a spiritual and architect lovers. You shouldn’t miss to visit this temple.

There are variety of other lingams such as mola lingam and gubera lingam and sachasra lingam etc. nellai govindar sannidhi is also present near to the lord siva sanctrum. Very big temple complex with big prahars.

A 2nd biggest siva temple in world,with very huge 3(3 for ambal + 3 for shiva)pragarams. Gomathy ambal is very gorgeous 😍 (gnanasakthi swaroopam). I have given 5 starts because every inch of the temple are very clean , Management is not shown that much interest in commercializing darshan( No 100rs,50 rs tickets for darshan) only 5 rs that too not required for all days . I really felt shivas heaven when I entered near garbhagraham of nellaiyappar .I suggest all to visit arround 5.30 Am to see the thiruvanathal sevai ,you will never forget the temple in life

Agasthiyar falls are on the way from Papanasam temple to the dam area. One has to walk 500 m to get to the falls from the parking area. Most of the people going there take a bath in the falls. A separate bathing area and dress changing facility is provided for women. Overall a nice picnic spot. It was good but they allow only up to 5 pm. Overall it was nice place to spend some time. Water was clean and there is a special Siva temple which should be visited... the water falls was not a very big one. separate bathing area for gents and ladies.ladies crowd also large and ladies area also small. for gents it quite large and crows also less. the area not so neat.weekends will be crowded.water flow was good when we went on august.the road from papanasam checkpost will be narrow and hilly.probablity of trafiic jam during weekend is very high. we had 2 hours of jam. beware of monkey. only two small hotels are there near the falls. during break fast they serve poori and idly and lunch only tomotto rice and curd rice. dont miss kalyana theertham the path way is not neat. but the view point is good and temple above is very divine.

Located just 40 km away from Coutralam Falls, this mesmerizing spot is far less crowded, making it a peaceful escape. Though the waterfall here is smaller in height, the force of the water is incredible—you literally can’t stand against it! It pushes you right off your spot, which makes it super fun, especially when you're with a group of friends. 🎉 Right next to the falls, you’ll find a dam, which is quite rare to witness together. I’ve never seen a dam and waterfall side by side like this—it’s truly a unique experience! They’ve thoughtfully provided separate dress changing rooms for ladies, ensuring privacy and safety. 👍 The same road also leads to Manjolai, which is a restricted forest area where entry is not allowed without special permission. This entire place is under the control of the Forest Department, and there are strict security checks. Carrying snacks, food, or drinks is not allowed—if you bring any, they’ll be taken at the check post and returned to you on the way back. 📅 Best time to visit: June to August, when the falls are at their best. A beautiful place which is not maintained properly. Park looks like graveyard. Government could have taken steps to maintain it properly. Proper checking has been done before entering the falls which was appreciable. If everything is maintained well,it will be one of the best tourist spot in Tirunelveli .

Reserve forest area and entry by buying tickets from officials. It's a trek uphill and water is cool and damn pure. Neatly maintained place due to strict maintaince by officals.

Once you visit, you’ll realize it’s truly worth the trip. The journey takes you through lush, green landscapes with dense forests flanking both sides of the road. As you arrive, the dam greets you with two distinct views. On the lower side, you’ll find the shutters, a beautifully designed bridge, a children’s park, and other recreational spots. The upper side, in contrast, offers a serene atmosphere—remarkably calm even with over a hundred visitors present at the time. Nearby, there’s a Forest Department office, a cafeteria, and a crocodile park—though the latter could certainly benefit from better maintenance. One of the most exciting features is the variety of boat trips available within the dam, including a longer safari-style excursion. Overall, the experience is enjoyable and memorable. However, it’s hard to ignore the missed potential. The tourism department appears to be underperforming, especially given the vast opportunities available to develop the area into a major attraction. Right now, it feels like a beautiful title waiting for the poem to be written. A sincere request to the government: show the commitment and vision needed to transform this naturally gifted location into a world-class destination for travelers from around the globe.

Neyyar wildlife sanctuary has boating service along with elephant visits, deer visits, crocodile visits. Ticket fare is 100rs per adult. It's a very good view through the boat. The park has 2 elephants of one male and one female, lot of deers and you can see monkeys too. There will be guide who guides you and also convey all the information regarding park and animals. In the area where crocodiles are placed, has a python too. Each crocodiles are kept in separate cage. When you move forward you can go to the neyyar dam. A watch tower, dam, children's park, aquarium, swimming pool are provided. As all those near by, it will be a good spot.

Neyyar Dam is a great place to go to free our minds when we have free time in the Thiruvananthapuram district.If you go during the rainy season, all the shutters are open and it's fun to see the water coming through. This is a couple friendly place and can be a family friendly place too, but it takes a while. 1. Couple friendly 12 to 4 . This is a great place for couples to get their own freedom. 2. Nice place situated near to Neyyar dam. We visited after rainy season so that there was water in the reservoir. There is no lion safari now. It is closed and there are no lions now. Picturesque views. We could able to see parts of hills from agastyarkoodam, kurishumala etc. There were three packages available. We took package-1 which covers deer park,crocodile park,elephants (1 big and 1 young one) and boating for 1 hour at 2900/-. Guides were there inorder to provide the information all the time. Boating was so good with panoramic views. Only 2-3 crocodiles are there in the crocodile park. We have to walk through a small narrow forest path unordered to see the deer park which was nice. We heard from one of the employee that all the lions are dead so that they have to shut down the safari. Earlier at a point, there were 16 male lions and it was difficult to feed them. And there were no profit from the sanctuary also. So one doctor approved for the sterilization procedure which made them infertile. It was a sad story.

The dam is surrounded by forested hills and a vast reservoir that glows beautifully in the evening light. A walk through the nearby park or simply sitting by the water feels calming. The boat ride across the reservoir adds a touch of adventure, taking you to the Lion Safari Park and Crocodile Rehabilitation Centre. While these spots may not be high-end, they offer a raw and unique experience, especially for families or first-time visitors. Neyyar isn’t about grand sights or adrenaline; it’s about pausing, watching, and breathing. It’s best visited on a weekday for a quieter experience. There are limited food options, so carrying your own snacks and water is a good idea. If you’re looking for a simple, refreshing day surrounded by nature, Neyyar Dam is well worth a visit. During monsoon this place offers a completely different experience than that of the summer. Facilities are mostly minimal and the central view tower definitely needs some better management. Also thats the same situation of the parks, can be maintained well, with proper land management and maintenance. If you are someone who enjoys a view its a great place. There is also a KTDC restaurant right next to the dam. I hope they have accommodation facilities too as they had a decent menu. Prices seemed reasonable and can be subjective. There is also an aquarium that has a ton of fish species, and there are some giants too, giants in a sense as if they weigh over 50kgs. It has a seperate ticket counter. I believe it was the first fish aquarium in india or asia. The lighting and interior ambience during monsoon is very dull and moody, but i hope it will be better during the summer. The structure is also comparatively better considering a public building, its not great in terms of aesthetics but is definitely good in terms of flow, movement and exhibit placement. I liked that one. It also has some huge ponds outside the building close to its perimeter that has some large koi fishes. Overall a good place for a one day trip, and it’s always better to visit and leave early. Check with the authorities for official timings.

One of the best waterfalls nearby Trivandrum. It’s clean and its way spreader, so more people can enjoy at the same time, lack of clean toilets is a disadvantage and also the ticket for packing is 50 for cars and entry is 20. Nice ambience and can be enjoyed with friends and families as well. Changing room are available nearby as well. Also some cloth shops at the entrance provide dress changing rooms, if we purchase something from them, that is also a good option too.

I have Visited Thriparappu Waterfalls recently — and honestly, it’s such a refreshing spot! The place is surrounded by greenery and the view is just beautiful. The waterfall isn’t too high, but the flow is strong enough to enjoy a nice shower under it. Great place to relax, click pictures, and just enjoy nature. There’s a small entry fee of 10 rupees and parking area nearby, plus a few local shops for snacks and tea. It can get crowded on weekends, so going early is a good idea. I will suggest you to visit around 8:30 AM to avoid crowd..Overall, a perfect short trip spot for families and friends This waterfall is just 50 km from Trivandrum International airport and railway station. Also it’s around 50 km from Kanyakumari.

We cant take bath around here, or its better don’t take bath, as rocks are all around the shore, so for safety, enjoy the sunrise and sunset, thats worth the visit. I visited this place on 5th October 2025. There was a big crowd, so I suggest not buying tickets online in advance — it’s better to get them directly at the spot. It’s a nice place to visit and enjoy the moment. However, the glass floor recently installed by the government was disappointing — the quality looks quite poor and needs improvement. Hope the authorities take note and make it better. Overall, a good experience at the Thiruvalluvar Statue, Kanyakumari — definitely worth visiting once! 🌊🌅

Statue of Wisdom or the Statue of Thiruvalluvar is located in Kanyakumari attached to the Vivekananda Rock memorial. Public can access till the feet of the statue through internal stairs. Access is through a glass bridge that connects the mandapam (& Vivekananda Rock Museum) and the statue.

Eknath Ranadeji who founded the Vivekananda Memorial Hall, Kanyakumari, suggested that a statue of Thiruvalluvar be erected on a nearby rock and gave the full plan, map and estimate to the then Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi . A boat called a 'Pantoon' was purchased from Kochi to transport the stones for the construction of the statue . On January 1, 2000, the then Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi inaugurated the statue. One can reach here from the Vivekananda Rock through a glass bridge. Thiruvalluvar is a Tamil poet who composed the Tamil literature called Thirukural. His statue has been erected on a rock 30 feet above the water level where the three seas meet. The Swami Vivekananda Memorial Hall has been erected on a rock in the middle of the Kanyakumari sea and the 133-foot-tall Thiruvalluvar statue on another rock nearby. The Silver Jubilee is being celebrated to mark the completion of 25 years since the installation of the Thiruvalluvar statue. A glass fibre bridge has been built to connect these two at a cost of Rs. 37 crores. This was opened to the public on 30 th December 2024. Thousands of people walk on this glass bridge and enjoy the beauty of the sea before reaching the Thiruvalluvar Statue area. Tourists went from the boat house to Vivekananda Rock walked through the glass fiber bridge and visited the Thiruvalluvar statue.

A beautiful and peaceful temple located right by the seashore — one of Kanyakumari’s most spiritual spots. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kanyakumari and is known for its divine atmosphere and unique seaside location. The morning darshan is the best time to visit (around 5:30–7:30 AM) when it’s less crowded and you can hear the sound of waves in the background. Phones and cameras aren’t allowed inside, so it’s a nice break from screens — you can really just soak in the calm and positive vibes. The temple is well-maintained, and the nearby shops and ocean view make the visit even more special. A must-visit when in Kanyakumari! 🌅

For a 2 min ride in boat charging 100 for ferry is unrealistic. Rs. 300 special ferry charges is a scam and has notthing in it, you better avoid this and buy only if you are in a hurry and there is a long que. Be advised Que moves fast so no point in special ticket. The glass bridge idea as a whole is good, but no one to maintain it so there's no visibility below especially when there's slight rain. So if no maintenance is done by cleaning the surface then no point in building it. Amman Temple is a must-visit for anyone in Kanyakumari. The temple is beautifully maintained and has a serene, spiritual atmosphere. The early morning visit is highly recommended to avoid crowds and to experience the tranquility of the place. I visited during the early hours, just in time for the Arti and it was incredibly peaceful. The divine energy of the temple combined with the soft chants and cool morning breeze made for a truly spiritual experience. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kanyakumari, and the structure is magnificent, reflecting both historical significance and spiritual beauty. Peaceful and powerful temple. Got to know about this temple from friend. Very powerful temple as it is swayambhu and still the nagaraja swamy comes and shed his skin in temple and it is kept inside a box. Abhishekam was very satisfactory. You can see bay of bengal one side and the beautiful wind mills the other side on the way. Enjoy the journey and take blessings.

A very old temple for nagaraja. There is special puja on ayilyam and on Sundays. There is a place where one offers eggs to the snake God. There is idol of snake everywhere. There is sannadhi for shiva and ambal. On the outside is a separate place for durga balamurugan and krishna. On the outside is a small pond. Just opposite to that is a huge tree under which are idols of many snakes.

Visited on today evening. Very old and well maintained temple in Nagercoil..The name of the town itself generated from this temple and has a long legacy. Those who are suffering from diseases and other ailments offer their prayers at the temple and the legend is that it is considered healed. The temple opens in the early morning and also in the evening from 5pm on all days. Those planning a visit to Kanyakumari can enroute visit this temple to get blessings. It is told that live Snake kings are there inside the temple. Hence people offer eggs as their offerings.

Very powerful temple. Lots of local crowd as it was a public holiday. Free darshan was crowded. They had a Rs. 400 special queue which was reasonable. Darshan happened within 20 minutes. Speciality was milk payasam which was served to all devotees. Special darshan ticket holders were given the payasam in a steel container along with a coconut and bananas. It was a surprise though.

NAGRAJA TEMLE A glass chamber with a snake image and snake skin are kept before the entrance of Nagaraja sannidhi. A single tier Rajagopuram and two Nagar images are at the entrance of Sri Nagaraja Sannidhi. A Nagaraja image is in the sanctum sanctorum. ANANDA KRISHNAR TEMPLE Ananda Krishnar temple is on the right side (South side) of the Nagaraja temple. Balipeedam and Dwajasthambam are before the entrance of second level Rajagopuram. The Rajagopuram is of 2 talas with stucco images of Ananda Krishnar with his consorts. Ananda Krishnar is in standing posture with abhaya hastam along with Sathyabama and Rukmani. Ananda Snake hood is above the head of Krishnar. Utsavars are in the ardha mandapam. SHIVA TEMPLE. This Shiva temple is on the north side of Sri Nagaraja temple. The Sanctum sanctorumis built in Kerala style with an open mukha mandapam. A Rishabam is in the mandapam. In the praharam Krishnar, Nagars, Bala Murugan and Durga. These sannidhis are on the north side of the Nagaraja Sannidhi. ARCHITECTURE The Nagaraja temple… consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala, ardha mandapam and maha mandapam. There is no vimana over the sanctum sanctorum. A thatched roof is provided over the sanctum sanctorum. The Nagaraja temple maha mandapam pillars, sanctum sanctorum entrance top and koshta makara thorana has the bas relief of Hindu Deities like Murugan, Vinayagar, Amman and Jainism bas reliefs like Mahavir, Parsvanatha Tirthankara, Yakshi Dharmadevi, Padmavathi, etc. Ananda Krishnar temple… consists of sanctum sanctorum, antarala, ardha mandapam and maha mandaam. The sanctum sanctorum is on a kapota bandha adhistanam, consists of Padma jagathy, vrutha kumudam and kapotam. The bhitti starts with vedikai. The pilasters are of Vishnu kantha pilasters with kalasam, kudam, lotus petals mandi, plakai, and pushpa pothyal. The prastaram consists of valapi and kapotam. The vimanam is of eka tala vesara sigaram. The sigaram is covered with gold(brass with gold plated) plates. The mandapam pillars has the images of the Kings, and Pavai lamps on the opposite pillars. HISTORY AND INSCRIPTIONS This place Nagercoil is derived from this Nagaraja Temple. Based on the bas-reliefs, on the pillars, the original temple may be dedicated to Jainism and latter converted as a Hindu Temple. It is not known that, when the original temple constructed. Based on the iconography of the bas reliefs on the pillars, the temple may belongs to 09th to 12th century CE. There are 9 inscriptions found in this temple, which includes stone slabs installed in front of Nagaraja Temple. The earliest inscription belongs to Kollam era 697 (16th Century CE), mentions the King Bhutaalvira.

The seven-acre palace near Thuckalay is surrounded by hills, rivers, and waterfalls, making it very scenic. Interestingly, even though the palace is in Tamil Nadu, it is owned by the Kerala Government. Locals say that outside the palace is Tamil Nadu, but stepping inside takes you into Kerala. The Kerala Government has hired young staff trained in archaeology, which helps tourists enjoy the visit more. Mostly made of wood, the palace has beautiful murals, carvings, relics, and black granite floors. Built over 400 years ago, it is the largest wooden palace in Asia.

We visited Padmanabhapuram Palace on a Saturday holiday and reached around 9 AM. It wasn’t very crowded, which made the visit more peaceful. The palace is truly an archaeological wonder — beautifully preserved and full of history. Definitely a must-visit at least once! It’s easily accessible from Trivandrum, and there’s plenty of space for car parking, so no worries there. However, there aren’t many good restaurants nearby, so it’s better to plan your food in advance. Overall, a great experience for history and architecture lovers

It’s a big palace and easily takes 2+ hrs to cover. However, it would be difficult for elders to climb the stairs in this palace. There are too many and are steep. Would be good if they instruct this while issuing the ticket. Paid restrooms are here for 5₹ per head but could be maintained better. We went on a Saturday and lot of schools are bringing children to this place as a day trip.

Supposedly Asia’s largest wooden palace from the Travencore era. The palace is situated in Tamil Nadu, but still owned and maintained by the archeological department of Kerala, even after the reorganization of Kanyakumari district from Kerala to Tamil Nadu. It’s is well preserved, painting of artworks and maintenance done as needed. The palace is sprawling and displays Kerala style architecture. Good to visit! Caution: foot wear isn’t allowed inside the palace, walking around barefoot in the hot sun may burn feet 👣 🙂. Good to visit during early hours of the day, as crowd starts to swell past 11 AM.

Despite its location, it is owned and maintained by the Kerala government, famous for its stunning traditional Kerala-style architecture and elaborate wooden carvings. Location: Situated in the Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu, at the foot of the Veli Hills. Ownership: Owned and maintained by the Government of Kerala. Architecture: Known for its indigenous Kerala-style architecture, elaborate wooden carvings, and a mirror-like polished floor. Features: Includes the Mantrasala (council chamber), Dancing Hall, and the Uttupura (dining hall). The Uppirika Malika is a notable three-storied building. Significance: Considered one of the largest wooden palaces in India and a significant historical site.

A must place to visit. Yes, lot of improvements can be made, but to do so might impact the naturality and beauty of the palace. Spread across 6.5 acres, it is a great place to spend some time and enjoy.
