Took a high speed train from Hangzhou to Mt JiuHua on 11 June 2025. Mt JiuHua being 1 of 4 sacred mountains in Buddhist pilgrimage in China. It's the seat of Kitsigarba Bodhisattva. Booked a seat in their business class. Do not have to queue to enter the gate. In fact, I'm amongst the first few travellers to go down the platform , to enter the train carbin to my allocated seat. The seat cushion was comfortable . There's a display panel at the front of the cabin displaying the original station & final destination, the train speed and the station name where it stopped. Toilets & hot water dispensers were available at each end of the cabin. The whole ride was extremely smooth and I could rest, even sleep during the 2 hour plus journey. Ticket cost S$55-63. An excellent experience.

(Translated by Google) A place to experience Buddhism in all its fascination. The temples are very well preserved and impressive. Unfortunately, the complex is only accessible to individual travelers as it is far away from all tourist routes. The advantage of this remoteness is of course that you can take photos in which there are no more tourists than locals. Speaking of recordings: recordings are not permitted in the temples. Therefore 1 point deducted. (Original) Ein Ort, den Buddhismus in all seiner Faszination zu erleben. Die Tempel sind sehr gut erhalten und beeindruckend. Amazing place in China
Valery K — Google review
The views are unquestionably outstanding! We went in November which is out of season but the place was still so busy. Large tour groups go around the park with guides who shout constantly through loudspeakers which takes away from the serenity of the park. Also, we needed to get down via cable car but had run out of cash from paying for so many bus transfers, tickets and entrance fees. We were told by a hotel that they will take MasterCard but they didn’t! We were stuck and the cable car was soon closing. The ticket officer was just laughing at us which made it even worse. We luckily found a very sweet group of ladies who paid our fare and we made it down. Terrible service from the park though!

Xihai Hotel HuangShan

Mentioned on

Canyons
Xihai Hotel HuangShan is a relaxed hillside establishment with stylish rooms and suites, some featuring balconies. The hotel boasts two restaurants and a bar. Despite its location at the top of a mountain, the hotel maintains high standards of cleanliness and organization. There are two sections in the hotel- one primarily for Chinese travelers and another for foreigners designed to resemble Las Vegas that exudes luxury. However, there is a personal preference towards the first section due to its laid-back vibe.
Xihai Hotel Huangshan offers spectacular views of the mountains. we stayed there for 4 consecutive nights as we wanted to cover as many trails as possible. our room is in A wing and has a walk out balcony. it is comfortable and clean. towels and bedding are white and soft. we had all our meals at the Hotel restaurant. the food is tasty. ingredient fresh with many choices. Staff is friendly and professional. highly recommend.
Anne C — Google review
The Xihai hotel is a very convenient starting point to explore the Xihai valley which was the most impressive scenic area in Huangshan 'yellow mountains' for us! (there are many more scenic areas arround) We liked the overall setting of the hotel with interesting architecture and good infrastructure (e.g. we had a dryer for clothers in our rooms which was useful after one rainy afternoon). We had some troubles with the food but there is enough choice to find something decent in the buffet. Nice staff!
Philipp S — Google review
Can't beat the location, and it also looks right over the ridge. The rooms are small sized, but comfortable. The hotel itself can feel crowded. Their lunch is a buffet, 120,and dinner is also a buffet, 180 rmb, both don't have much vegetarian. Service at the hotel and restaurant is fine.
Mini R — Google review
Put a night or 2 at the hotel in the Mt Huangshan scenic area if you want to capture sunset and sunrise. Room rates are very much higher than outside. In general, they provide good service, clean amenities and good breakfast included. There are several spots for photographers, each hotel will recommend suitable locations nearby their hotel. The hotel staff will lead the group to and from the spot.
Vincent T — Google review
Stayed 1 night to attend sunrise / sunset. Prices are similar among the hotels on the top. (I paid ~1100¥ for a 2 single beds room) Breakfast is buffet and was included but for dinner, I ate a the hotel, was a buffet as well. Not the best food but considering the altitude is still pretty nice. (Paid 180¥) The hotel organised a trip to go watch the sun rise ( leaving hotel a 4:40am) and every room has winter jacket with the hotel logos at disposal (it is still quite chilly windy in the morning) The receptionist 小马 was really helpful : provided me all the info I needed, a spot to go watch sunset, an itinerary for my way back down the mountain the following day
Jiang J — Google review
This hotel is clean, tidy and not what you'd expect at the top of a mountain. After a couple of hours of mountain stair climbing, this hotel is downright luxurious. The hotel has two parts: a section where mostly Chinese travelers stay (and where I stayed), and another section where mainly foreigners stay. The second section is luxurious and is designed to look like Vegas. I prefer the first section, personally.
Yang W — Google review
Stayed here with friends one night. Hotel is located top of the mountain. Okay for staying a night. Since the place is located top of the mountain, you don't have much choices for your meal. You have to eat from hotel and very crowded. Rooms are cleaned but pretty small for the price. For one night? It is not bad~~~ Most people stays here for sunrise...
Andres K — Google review
Very clean and comfortable hotel. Breakfast is standard. Nothing to shout but I think it is better than the other hotels up in the mountain. Lunch and dinner is great depends on what you order. The rooms are not too big but the heater is appalling. We went there during winter and was from - 6 to 0 degrees Celsius. We set to 22 degrees but the maximum it went was 14. The air was too dry. I don't know why they don't provide humidifiers. We requested for an extra heater which the housekeeping gladly provides. Also mineral bottled water isn't provided so you need to purchase it at the convenience store at the lobby from RMB15 per bottle to support the people transporting it up to the hotel. Hotel located quite strategic to a sunset point which is about 10-15 min walk. Massage is expensive but the messuer is good.

After a few days of hiking this is the perfect place to relax. The bus from the Huangshan Park entrance gate can drop you here on its way back to town. Beautiful pools and pretty good service. There is a snack bar included in the price of entry.
Latonya W — Google review
The place is clean and the service is good. Staff is practically everywhere. There are numerous basins with varying temperature and themes. However, when we were there they only had 5 basins filled (due to low attendance). It should also be mentioned that the water is not mineralized (like in Japan), but simply water taken from the mountain stream and heated. Otherwise the place looks gorgeous with good views on Huangshan. We went during the week, during weekends it probably gets crowded.
Fabian B — Google review
The best hot spring in China, I've been there twice already and it is just fascinating!!! It has everything you need for free in the garden, where you also can listen to beautiful Chinese music. You can definitely be healthy again, just get relaxed in there! The hotel near there is cheap, and the ticket for the hot spring has a low price as well. 100% recommended!

This place is not an option for anyone wanting to use Muslim swim suits at their pools. They won't allow you to get in without traditional swim wear. Not that I care about Muslims but I do believe anyone should be able to be them selves any where.

Chengkan Village is a quaint old village where some residents still live, preserving the simple and traditional Hui-style architecture. The narrow streets create a maze-like atmosphere, showcasing historic houses and offering souvenirs, local food, and handicrafts. Despite its historical and cultural significance, the commercial atmosphere is not overpowering. It's recommended to visit this village to experience its authentic charm and interact with the kind residents who contribute to its preservation.
This little city is amazing. It is a must stop if you're the type to want to visit the less obvious tourist places. If you happen to be in Shanghai of course see the tower, the Bund and the zoo, but if you have a day go to Chenkan. It is an old place, tight quirky and full to the brim with hand crafted masterpieces. The old houses are impressive, the old temple with the old paintings, yes it could or should be restored but even so, must see. Also, if you're into wooden trinkets, the master craftsmen do them on the spot and you'll only whish to have a bigger suitcase to buy all you can find there for a crazy low price. Helpfully there are stores selling luggage, gotta love the trader spirit. Must go, no question

Tianzhu Shan is a stunning national park with mountainous terrain that resembles Chinese paintings. The hike to the top is challenging and lengthy, but the scenery along the way and at the peak is breathtaking. Although there is another higher peak beyond, some may choose not to continue due to its distance. The foggy mist at the top adds an extra layer of beauty to this picturesque location. Overall, Tianzhu Shan offers unparalleled natural beauty for those willing to take on its trails.
Extremely beautiful mountain national park area that looks just like the Chinese paintings! The hike is pretty long and strenuous and once you’re at the top it turns out there’s another six hours to get to an even higher peak which I didn’t do. The scenery at the top and all the way along the hike is pretty spectacular. I also really liked the cloudy foggy misty feeling at the top.

Hongcun is a UNESCO-designated, ancient village nestled in Huangshan that boasts of exquisite architectural and artistic heritage. It serves as an idyllic backdrop to Ang Lee's movie and features small shops selling artfolk. To gain entrance, tourists should pay 104rmb but may have to contend with the crowds from Chinese tourist groups. Nevertheless, it is worth visiting along with the Huang Shan mountain trip.
The Hongcun village was probably one of the more scenic ancient towns. It felt a bit more commercial but that wasn’t a bad thing for tourists. Food was available nearby and amenities were mostly available. Didn’t enjoy this as much as Xidi, maybe because here a little later but it’s a great place that with a guide - it helps to bring the storied past to life.

HongCun Ancient Village - is a very beautiful China village. it still keep the old lane, some of the old houses. Alot of people come and rent traditional costume and have a professional photoshoot like us, or by themselves, its fun either way. a full day to spent this place at slow pace, or even 2 days if you planning to rent and shoot professionally which you can find alot there.

Quite a nice village to walk around. It's a 5A scenic spot in China as well. Village is not exactly big probably max 3 hours should do the walk. Note that don't anyhow walk into another village as the boundary might not the clear . Long history within the village, best with a tour guide

A town painted in poetry—where landscapes sigh in golden hues, strangers greet you like old friends, and every meal tastes of cherished memories. The air hums with tranquility, wrapping around you like a gentle embrace

Beautiful village, night lights are amazing. Many art students can buy art very cheap off them. Good local foods.
Sam D — Google review
This place is overrated in my opinion. An ancient village is now just full of tourists. Most of the food is basically just tourist trap food. The reflections in the water actually are quite nice though the pictures look better than what it looks like in reality. For some reason foreigners with a passport have 50 percent off their tickets. It’s also not a big place you can probably finish the entire area in about an hour to an hour and a half. Unbelievable that this is 5A tourist destination, definitely not a top tier tourist destination.
Allen L — Google review
Historical village with beautiful architecture. Recommend going in the morning as it became literally too busy to tour by 2:00 pm and that was on a weekday. Definitely worth a trip but don’t expect to spend more than 2-3 hours there unless you’re on a guided tour.
Kevin L — Google review
One of the nicest historical City in China. The world Heritage City is open for public. You can enter most of the areas. The old City is closed and you need an access ticket. On weekends is it very crowded. I recommend to purchase the ticket ahead. You can also book English tour guides. The City goes back to Song dynasty (11 AC). Current city had been built 1403-23 in the Ming Dynasty under emperor Yongle. The city footprint looks like an Ox. Recommend to visit with an overnight stay in closeby modern Hongcun. You can reach the city by car or Bus.

The interior of the scenic spot is actually not big and the road signs are clear. I think it is enough to just walk around and take a look. Qifeng Park, spanning 243 hectares, is a vast expanse featuring ancient and modern attractions such as the Huangqi Temple, Gate Tower, Qifeng Lake, and Qifeng Park Square. The park's Huangqi mountain is renowned as one of Dongguan's legendary sceneries. Notably, an ancient well within the park is believed to possess magical properties. Visitors can witness large groups engaging in dancercise at night in the plaza while enjoying epic Chinese opera performances.

This was my top one or two favorite places to see in China. Though from the outside. I paid for the ride to the top of the tower but they have other things that block the view. If I had to go back and do it all over again I might still go to the top just one time, but truly the best view is from outside.

A very magnificent view at the top, overseeing the the city of Guangzhou. We had buffet dinner at the rotating restaurant while overlooking the city. A good spread of variety however doesn’t match up to the price you pay. Nonetheless, an attraction worth going.

This building is one of the highest TV tower in the world with 604 metres tall. There is nothing around it, not suitable for Sightseeing at the round, if you would like to get in and go up to it so you will have to pay about 200 Yuan for a person during 1 hour at dinner time, it would be fantastic and you will see the view of all the city.

Dameisha Beach, also known as Dameisha Seaside Park, is a top destination in Shenzhen, China. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as swimming, water sports like jet skiing and parasailing, beach volleyball, and even barbecue parties on the soft sandy shores. The park is divided into different zones for different activities including leisure and water sports.
Clean and calm overall—one of the best. I found it unique as it’s surrounded by mountains, making it the perfect place to relax. Had a great time here. Also, there are many 4–5 star hotels nearby, making it very convenient to travel with the metro.

It's a nice and clean Sea beach very near to Dameisha Subway 🚉. The waters are blue and near the Food over bridge it's turns into black. You will be loved it to go there.
Subhajit D — Google review
I went on a summer day, Friday afternoon and the beach was full of crowds and a whole lot of children running around. It wouldn’t be such a good idea as a getaway, but I guess the dining establishment along the beach would offer something for everyone. I sat down for a drink to cool down and enjoy the sound of the waves and that served my purpose. To my surprise despite huge crowds there, the water really was very clean and the sand was soft and fine. There are more adventurous water sports options there such as paragliding. Very accessible by metro, get off at Dameisha station.
Helen J — Google review
It's one of the best known beaches in China and, combined with different tiers of hotels and shopping arcades, I'm sure it's it's one of the most visited. With the opening of Dameisha subway station right next to it (exit A), it was just jammed with people. Btw, the decorations at the station echoes the beautiful beach outside. Don't forget to take some pictures on the way out.

To access the Xichong Public Beach Toll Gate 1, visitors may find it necessary to utilize a taxi or other means of transportation due to its remote location. The beach itself boasts exquisite natural beauty and offers ample opportunities for swimming and engaging in various water-based activities for those seeking excitement. Conveniently, shaded tents are available for rent, which is particularly advantageous when splitting costs among a group. Furthermore, lockers are provided on site, eliminating concerns about safeguarding personal belongings.

The beach itself was beautiful and you can swim all along the shore, as well as do a variety of water activities if you're feeling adventurous. There are shaded tents for you to rent, which would be ideal if you have a group of people to split the cost. Another great thing is that they had lockers for you to rent for the day, so you don't have to worry about your things. We were so amazed by this park! There were so many beautiful animals there. The park was clean. The food selections were great! Some highlights for me were the pandas, the koalas, and feeding a giraffe! We had a great time here!

A well maintained zoo with clean washrooms, numerous eateries, and facilities. They have a safari on wheels, a cable car that takes you across the zoo, and some live shows and parades too. The animals looked well taken care of, and it surely was an impressive zoo. Unfortunately, there aren't many options for vegetarians when it comes to lunch. Also, you aren't allowed to carry food inside, so plan accordingly. The pandas were super adorable, and it was overall a wonderful experience.

Well thought out zoo with some birds and an immersive Jurassic trail. Ticket might be a little expensive (~300RMB per adult) but it includes free cable car rides and the train safari, which easily costs over 50 USD in some other countries (if they even have it) Best visited on a weekday, wait times will be less than 15 mins and the atmosphere is lively but peacful Dont worry about the sun as the whole park is shaded by lots of trees and there are many air conditioned buildings My favourite attraction in Guangzhou!
ML G — Google review
A very big park, clean and lots of toilets too. Unfortunately, we dont have sufficent time to cover the whole place even though we spend 3 hours there. Animals are happy, environment is great for them too. The safari houses so many koalas ( even more than in Sydney Zoo) that are active though is the begining of winter. Great experience and wish we have more time there.

Notably, the park recently introduced a new roller coaster reaching speeds of up to 105 kph and towering at 61 meters high.
Of course we need to see Panda when in China! One of the most beautiful and advance zoo I ever visited in the world. The animals are well fed and well taken care of, clean, green and beautiful environment, good sanitation and hygiene as the smell is so minimal and almost none. This is the place where the famous triplets panda in the world that got guiness book of record. They also have small medical care facilities to show, super advance including the eggs incubators, operation table and MRI.. amazing how they really comitted and dedicated. Que during entry in the morning is in good order and not at all chaotic altho many small kids and old people in their wheelchair. They have hanging trains and safari cars too. In between many attractions happening, circus people in all their glorious costumes, clowns… the staffs are friendly and helpful, inside a lot of food and drinks places, and many cute souvenirs shops. Highly recommended to visit when u are in China. Love it!

Ticket is costly but worthy experience. The zoo is huge and there is clear direction. Staff is overall helpful and ample. Aircon compounds are great because of hot weather. There is a safari where you can take a tram or car to see animals close up. But the q was long 40-60mins. Cable car was a good duration and windy. Will be helpful to have more sitting places. Food at Panda restaurant was tasty and fast.

Chimelong Paradise is a must-visit for theme park enthusiasts in China. With a mix of high-thrill rides, family-friendly attractions, and entertaining performances, it’s an excellent choice for a fun-filled day. If you can visit on a weekday to avoid crowds, even better!

Not a bad theme park. They even have a parade around which was good fun to watch. The day I went 2 of the main rides were closed but I wasn’t made aware of this nor was the ticket discounted due to this. Apart from this the theme park is pretty good, it was reasonably quiet the day I went. I would visit again.

Has 3 roller coasters. Go ride them between 4pm-6pm for much shorter queue. They also have shows throughout the day (copycats of other places, but they did put in effort). If you live at the hotels in the resort, go through the north gate.

Not the biggest fan of theme parks but this one was excellent- lots of different rides for kids and big kids 😉. The park is really well maintained and staff are helpful. Nestled in the vibrant city of Shenzhen, the Dafen Oil Painting Village is a fascinating cultural hotspot that showcases an impressive array of oil paintings and artistic talent. This unique district is characterized by its maze-like alleyways filled with workshops where over 5,000 artists diligently create stunning replicas and original works. Since its inception in 1989, when Hong Kong painter Huang Jiang established a hub for art creation and trade, Dafen has evolved into a bustling center for both local and international art enthusiasts.
Originally a center for masterwork replica production, Dafen Village has expanded to include numerous art workshops and original artwork studios. While replicas are still available, visitors can now also explore a variety of original works, galleries and local coffee shops. It’s a great place to explore at a relaxed pace for a couple of hours.

We picked the wrong time to come (early 2025) as it was CNY. Still, a handful of stores were opened so we could get a basic feeling of what this painting village would look like in normal workday. Shops can be a consolidation of many different artists as there are thousands of artists in the country. Some can be simple and commercial, but some really is a great authentic artist. Love the overall ambience… visiting one of an artist friend there and got nice conversations on his tea table. Love the way they do arts while sustaining life… also found couple of interesting stores at back, where they use modern almost satire of famous art in the world into different way of presenting it in much more modern and contemporary… very refreshing. While majority shops are pretty standard, they also has some areas that are very nicely set like museums, collec of many different great quality products, some old houses and gates being kept as it was hundreds or thousands years ago… definitely worth the trip and highly recommend to visit.

Very cool street of painting shops with different styles, and you can even try your hand at any of the diy workshops to paint your own painting or make a pottery. Nice street for a short spin!

Must must must visit while in shenzhen. It's a hidden gem. The whole place is very serene. There are like 50+ shops selling paintings and all of them are beautiful. Cars are not allowed inside so the whole village is quiet. The best thing about it is that it is not crowded at all or destroyed by mass tourism. It feels very authentic. Easily accessible by metro from the city center. I would say it's worth de detour of any china trip.
