Stunning and anyone who says otherwise has no appreciation for earths natural beauty. Yes there is a lot of construction going on BUT there is also so much stunning flora and fauna alongside life changing mountainous views unlike anything I’ve ever seen with my own eyes before
Mia M — Google review
Construction going on atm until 2030 at the front but if you take scooter you see beautiful beaches and coast - it’s just one part of the island when there’s so many other wonderful treasures that the island offers
Zuzanna K — Google review
Lots of construction on main beach - no access to beach and a sky full of cranes….id give this place a miss till they finish the work over the next 5 years. We stayed long enough to do a bay day tour (excellent) but the vibe on the main drag sort of ruined it we left a day early
Drinkwater F — Google review
I excepted more, but Cat Ba island is not really what I thought. Everything in the main island is quite basic, constructions, overpriced restaurants, not good quality seafood (some still nice but not all),… Only thing I can enjoy more is going to see the sea with the boat tour: nice sea with sunny light, you can take nice pictures and can go swimming there too, visit some caves bypass,… Think 3 days is enough to visit there.
Thanh L — Google review
Amazing experience in my life time . Thanks for preserving it . Enjoyed each and every moment starting from yatch cruise , swimming , banana boat ride
Shalif A — Google review
Beautiful island but massive construction projects, lack of infrastructure general confusion makes it not worth visiting right now Insanely noisy do to huge construction project larger than the existing city. Every cruise or tour I scheduled got cancelled (4 in a row) so unless you’re planning on just eating, drinking and listening to jackhammers all day probably avoid it for now.
Jason D — Google review
I really like this place very beautiful and peaceful, on the main island of Cat Ba there is a small town, but quite modern. People here live by seafaring and tourism, they are trying to catch up with the hustle and bustle of tourists from outside arriving on the island. However, the service here is not always good, when experiencing the restaurant here you should pay the price before ordering.
Thiep P — Google review
A picturesque place. Peaceful calm, ideally for both couples and family. Best part is it is also very budget friendly. You can spend a week in less than 500 dollars for a couple while staying in good hotels and good food

Hạ Long Bay is a breathtaking natural wonder in Vietnam, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its stunning and unspoiled beauty makes it a top choice for travelers seeking to explore and experience its impressive natural landmarks, unique rock formations, and the traditional way of life of the local inhabitants. The bay offers various activities such as diving, rock climbing, and hiking amidst its tree-covered limestone islands.
Wow! What a place!😍 You must add it to your Vietnam itinerary. The cruise, cave exploration, view & the food, all were amazing! Here you can even enjoy few activities like Kayaking, Bamboo boat & speed boat.

This beautiful place is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s a full-day excursion tour with many magnificent caves to explore. The breathtaking scenes are accompanied by various activities to enjoy. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone looking to add a touch of adventure to their bucket list.
Rizwan G — Google review
I recently visited Ha Long Bay, and it was an unforgettable experience. The sheer beauty of the limestone karsts rising dramatically from the emerald green waters is absolutely mesmerizing. The scenery feels like something out of a dream. I opted for a day cruise, which allowed us to explore the caves, enjoy kayaking, and relax while taking in the serene surroundings. Sung Sot Cave was an incredible highlight with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The boat ride was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. If you have more time, I highly recommend the overnight cruises, which I plan to do next time. One small downside was the number of tourists in certain areas, but it didn’t take away from the overall beauty and tranquility of the place. The local food served on the boat was fresh and flavorful, adding an authentic Vietnamese touch to the trip. If you’re visiting Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is a destination you simply cannot miss. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason, and it truly lives up to the hype!
Om T — Google review
Must see in Vietnam- despite it is so turisted. Were on a luxury cruise which was a great experience in it self - but I assume all boats give the same tours and the nature is stunning.
Ane J — Google review
Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in northern Vietnam, is one of the country's most iconic natural wonders and a must-visit destination for any traveler. I recently had the opportunity to explore this breathtaking bay, and I can confidently say it captivated my heart with its stunning landscapes and rich cultural experiences. The first thing that strikes you about Ha Long Bay is its remarkable beauty. The bay is dotted with over 1,600 limestone islands and islets, many of which are covered in lush greenery. The sight of these towering karsts rising dramatically from the emerald waters is simply awe-inspiring. Whether viewed from a boat, a kayak, or the shore, the scenery is breathtaking and offers numerous photographic opportunities. A visit to Ha Long Bay is often best experienced through a cruise. There are various options available, from day trips to overnight excursions on luxury junks. I opted for an overnight cruise, and it was one of the highlights of my trip. The crew was incredibly attentive, and the accommodation was comfortable, creating the perfect ambiance for relaxation. The daily itinerary included visits to hidden caves, swimming in the bay, and enjoying sumptuous meals featuring fresh seafood while watching the sunset over the water. Apart from cruise activities, Ha Long Bay offers plenty of opportunities for adventure and exploration. Kayaking through the bay’s smaller lagoons and caves was a thrilling experience that allowed me to get closer to the stunning rock formations.
Nirav N — Google review
Very nice place. A must see when you come to Vietnam. I recommend the minimum 2 nights stay as most of the people only take one night and don’t get to see the most beautiful places. In the first day you only get to see the most crowded places. In the next day we went to a remote location and enjoyed some nice views and activities.
Liviu A — Google review
Superb scenery. Tourist attractions packed but was to be expected. Stay a night and take in the amazing surroundings first thing in the morning. Choose your cruise carefully!
J P — Google review
Ha Long Bay is indeed one of Vietnam's most iconic and popular tourist destinations, attracting travelers from all around the world. With its stunning view from different cave and emerald waters, it's no wonder it draws such a large crowds. Lots of fun activities like kayaking, walking up the stairs to see sun song cave, Tip top island, beach etc. lots of boat sailing on the ha long bay island.

Amazing place in China
Valery K — Google review
The views are unquestionably outstanding! We went in November which is out of season but the place was still so busy. Large tour groups go around the park with guides who shout constantly through loudspeakers which takes away from the serenity of the park. Also, we needed to get down via cable car but had run out of cash from paying for so many bus transfers, tickets and entrance fees. We were told by a hotel that they will take MasterCard but they didn’t! We were stuck and the cable car was soon closing. The ticket officer was just laughing at us which made it even worse. We luckily found a very sweet group of ladies who paid our fare and we made it down. Terrible service from the park though!

Hongcun

Mentioned on

Hongcun is a UNESCO-designated, ancient village nestled in Huangshan that boasts of exquisite architectural and artistic heritage. It serves as an idyllic backdrop to Ang Lee's movie and features small shops selling artfolk. To gain entrance, tourists should pay 104rmb but may have to contend with the crowds from Chinese tourist groups. Nevertheless, it is worth visiting along with the Huang Shan mountain trip.
The Hongcun village was probably one of the more scenic ancient towns. It felt a bit more commercial but that wasn’t a bad thing for tourists. Food was available nearby and amenities were mostly available. Didn’t enjoy this as much as Xidi, maybe because here a little later but it’s a great place that with a guide - it helps to bring the storied past to life.

HongCun Ancient Village - is a very beautiful China village. it still keep the old lane, some of the old houses. Alot of people come and rent traditional costume and have a professional photoshoot like us, or by themselves, its fun either way. a full day to spent this place at slow pace, or even 2 days if you planning to rent and shoot professionally which you can find alot there.

Quite a nice village to walk around. It's a 5A scenic spot in China as well. Village is not exactly big probably max 3 hours should do the walk. Note that don't anyhow walk into another village as the boundary might not the clear . Long history within the village, best with a tour guide

A town painted in poetry—where landscapes sigh in golden hues, strangers greet you like old friends, and every meal tastes of cherished memories. The air hums with tranquility, wrapping around you like a gentle embrace
Trâm T — Google review
Beautiful village, night lights are amazing. Many art students can buy art very cheap off them. Good local foods.
Sam D — Google review
This place is overrated in my opinion. An ancient village is now just full of tourists. Most of the food is basically just tourist trap food. The reflections in the water actually are quite nice though the pictures look better than what it looks like in reality. For some reason foreigners with a passport have 50 percent off their tickets. It’s also not a big place you can probably finish the entire area in about an hour to an hour and a half. Unbelievable that this is 5A tourist destination, definitely not a top tier tourist destination.
Allen L — Google review
Historical village with beautiful architecture. Recommend going in the morning as it became literally too busy to tour by 2:00 pm and that was on a weekday. Definitely worth a trip but don’t expect to spend more than 2-3 hours there unless you’re on a guided tour.
Kevin L — Google review
One of the nicest historical City in China. The world Heritage City is open for public. You can enter most of the areas. The old City is closed and you need an access ticket. On weekends is it very crowded. I recommend to purchase the ticket ahead. You can also book English tour guides. The City goes back to Song dynasty (11 AC). Current city had been built 1403-23 in the Ming Dynasty under emperor Yongle. The city footprint looks like an Ox. Recommend to visit with an overnight stay in closeby modern Hongcun. You can reach the city by car or Bus.

During the summer, the 九江庐山瀑布群 attraction can become excessively warm, potentially lacking water. The Sandie Spring cascades down approximately three thousand feet below, appearing quite small at first glance. However, after rainfall, it is anticipated to transform into a more enchanting sight. Hopefully, there will be future opportunities to visit this attraction again.

Dong Lake, also known as East Lake, is a popular tourist attraction located in Wuhan. Despite being situated within the city, it offers a vast and serene green space with various trees, sculptures, Chinese temples, and small boats floating on the water. The area features benches, cafes, and playgrounds for children. Renovations have transformed the park into a more beautiful space with biking lanes replacing car roads. Visitors can rent bikes to explore the picturesque surroundings of Dong Lake.
This is a part of East Lake (Dong is East in Chinese). It's a very beautiful scenery along the coastline of Dong Lake. Lots of scenic. And picnic spots surrounding the lake where families and visitors enjoy the comfortable atmosphere.

Lots of walking and places to hang out. You can buy fish food at the stall in the center of one of the smaller lakes. Very peaceful.
Mike X — Google review
I was impressed by the park and its lake - although its in the city, area is big and green, you feel yourself relaxed, surraunded by nature, dufferent trees, sculptures, chinees temples, small boads floating in water. You can find many benches, as well as cafes and playgrounds for kids. Dont expect, that you see whole park in 1 day - for that you need to rent a bicycle and be fit :) also you may rent a boat (price is fixed for all of them and depends on the distance) to see spectacular vies from the lake side. The park has differently designed areas, for example, traditional chinees garden, modern sculpture park, west plams trees garden and many others. For me the most exciting was walking down the sidewalk, where water is at the both sides.

Hubei Provincial Museum, established in 1953, is a large museum with an impressive collection of around 200,000 historical and cultural artifacts.
Great experience. So many cool artifacts from over 2000 years ago. Free admission, but reservation is required. The most famous area is the Sword of Goujian. There was a line to get in to that area and a large crowd around the display case. It took a long time to get to the front to take a photo. If you are not okay with a bit of pushing to get through, you may have a bad experience here.

Amazing collection, many ancient artifacts. They provide an audio device. The descriptions in English are meager, better bring an audio device or use a translation device.
Stepp B — Google review
Nice museum with a decent collection of Chinese antiquities. Highlights are the bronze sword and ancient bells. Can also attend a performance that highlights how the bells sounded. Multiple gates and entry points. Make sure to book in beforehand and have your passport.
Daryl S — Google review
All I can say is wow! The overall layout of Hubei Provincial Museum reflects the construction model and characteristics of Chu State (a state in the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC-476BC)). It is amazing to see what kind of technology that they had even before Christ was born. The tomb of Marquis was simply impressive. How well preserved it was as well as all of the artifacts that were buried. He was the 9th emperor of the Han dynasty. There are many photos showing how they excavated the tomb and parts which were completely under water. The majority of the works lost wax technique. It is hard to imagine that they could make such detailed bronze statuary. The museum is split into three parts: the comprehensive exhibition hall, the Chu Culture Exhibition Hall and the Chime Bell Exhibition Hall. The bells were so impressive. There was a small display in a corner where you could simulate the bells tones just by pressing a key on a keyboard. Depending on where the bell was hit was a different tone.
S D — Google review
The 2,400-year-old Bianzhong bells sound exactly as they did for Marquis Yi - their bronze alloy remains uncorroded. The silk gallery's 30g burial robe would pass through a wedding ring. Security guards know where the floor creaks loudest near the Chu kingdom artifacts.
Arman K — Google review
A gorgeous place to spend at least three hours on. A concise exhibit that showcases what Hubei is known for. Go for the souvenirs, the bookmarks and nick nacks are very affordable.
Ricky V — Google review
Here keeps Chime Bells which is the largest bronze musical instrument discovered so far, as well as the sword of Zhou Juan, the king of the Yue State in the Spring and Autumn Period, who is very well-known to Chinese people.

Yellow Crane Tower, a reconstructed 5-story tower standing at 168 feet high, is a revered landmark in Wuhan. Originally built during the Qing dynasty as a military watchtower, the current building was erected in 1981 and has become the pride of the city. The pagoda features traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphy, decorative lamps, a souvenir shop, and a showroom modeled after ancient Chu-style sitting rooms.
黃鶴樓 is undoubtedly one of the most stunning traditional Chinese towers I’ve ever visited. Its architectural grandeur is awe-inspiring, both during the day and at night. During daylight, the intricate designs and vibrant colors stand out against the sky, while in the evening, the tower is beautifully illuminated, creating a magical atmosphere. Climbing the stairs to the top was absolutely worth it—the panoramic view of Wuhan from above was spectacular! You can see the city’s skyline, the winding Yangtze River, and the surrounding landscapes, making it a perfect spot for photography and reflection. To my delight, there was also a cultural performance in front of the tower during my visit. The traditional music and dance added an extra layer of charm to the experience, making it even more memorable. Whether you're a history enthusiast, architecture lover, or simply looking for a picturesque place to explore,黃鶴樓 is a must-visit. I highly recommend it and would gladly return!

First time climbing Yellow Crane Tower, I fell in love with Wuhan ❤️ I came here by metro from my hotel — it was a bit far, but Wuhan’s metro is super convenient and comfortable. The entrance ticket is ¥70, and I highly recommend buying it online in advance, especially during holidays, because the queue for on-site tickets can take forever! From the tower, I saw Tortoise Mountain TV Tower, the Yangtze River Bridge, and the stunning skyline of Wuhan. Took so many photos 📸 This city is truly full of history and life — I really love it here!

It stands majestically at night with all the lights that makes it more beautiful! A must visit when you go to Wuhan. This was also featured in the 2025 Spring Gala Festival where OneRepublic performed "Counting Stars". Will definitely recommemd to see these gorgepus attraction in Wuhan

Reconstructed inly 40 years ago and on a different hill than the original, the yellow crane tower remains a must see in Wuhan. The stupa at the entrance is the only one in the city and the tower itself has been rebuilt according to the original design. Great view from the top and a nice park to walk around !

The location is excellent, in the center of the city. Easy parking, short walking distance to the tower. Beautiful night scenery, but it's hard to get to the top of the tower during summer break, too many people.

Too many stairs also one-way. Slight state of disrepair Able to see 'the whole of china' What's meant to be made of wood is not made of wood PS. there are nets in case you drop your phone and stair guards to prevent slips and reduce falls

The Yellow Crane Tower (Huanghelou) is undoubtedly one of the most iconic landmarks in Wuhan, and visiting it is like stepping into a living piece of Chinese history and poetry. Perched on Snake Hill along the Yangtze River, the tower offers not only stunning views of the city and river below but also a rich cultural experience that blends history, architecture, and legend.
Sam I — Google review
A lot of steps within this area so it is not wheelchair-friendly. I recommend you to buy a ticket for back & forth shuttle for 10 Yuan per person to reach the tower which is very convenient. There is a Millennium Bell and small part of ancient wall across the pagoda. The tower has an elevator for elders and disabled persons but you need to ask officers there to use it. At the ground hall, there is a giant ceramic painting of a yellow crane that everyone must take picture with. On the upper deck, there is a beautifully painted ceramic hall in green color with 4-sided outdoor terrace, with stunning views of Wuhan city and Yangtze River.

Nestled on the ancient city wall of Yueyang in Hunan Province, Yueyang Tower is a stunning historical landmark that boasts a unique roof resembling a Chinese general's helmet adorned with yellow tiles. This iconic structure, built during the Eastern Han Dynasty, has been celebrated for centuries and is often mentioned alongside other renowned towers like Yellow Crane Tower and Tengwang Pavilion as one of Jiangnan's 'Three Famous Towers.'
Have a look. It's definitely worth it if you are in the town. Nice sunset from her could be experienced. The walk is beautiful and can be a bit crowded during summer evenings, but that's the main thing if you want to experience real-life experience in China.

Yuelu Mountain, located on the west bank of Xiangjiang River, offers a stunning display of red maple trees from mid-November to early December at the Autumn-Admiring Pavilion. The mountain is home to the Ancient Tree Botanical Garden, featuring ancient and famous trees dating back to various dynasties. Visitors can explore historical sites like Mawangdui Han Tomb and Hunan Provincial Museum while marveling at the extraordinary moon land and Tianxin Pavilion.
If you’re a foreign visitor, you can go without making a reservation. It’s a beautiful mountain right in the city. You can enjoy drinks or tea and relax at the top of the mountain. Plan to spend at least 2–3 hours in this area. it’s rich in the history of the mountain, the city, and the nearby university.

It takes around 45mins of uphill walk to reach the peak from the main gate entrance near 溁湾镇(地铁站). Was a tiring hike up, but there is an option of a tram ride. Hike up and on your way down, you can visit An Wan pavilion, then Yue Lu Academy.

This one was quite overrated for me. Once you get to the entrance you pay for a bus service to go to the top assuming you don’t want to take the long walk. Once you are up there you can see a nice view of the city but that’s about it. The other attractions here are kind of mediocre.

Great to visit if you happen to be here to see his childhood residence ! This is just another 10 mins walk from the bronze statue. The Zhurong Peak hike was one of the highlights of our trip to Hengshan. The trail passes through forests, small temples, and beautiful viewpoints before reaching the summit at over 1,300 meters. The scenery changes as you go up, and the air gets noticeably cooler and fresher. The small Zhurong Temple at the very top sits right on the rocks and feels like something out of a painting. Entry to the scenic area is 100 RMB, and if you don’t want to hike, you can take the eco-friendly bus for 78 RMB. We decided to hike up and then take the bus down, which worked out perfectly since our legs were exhausted after the climb. The weather can get intense very quickly. When we went, it suddenly turned windy and rainy, and we had to buy ponchos on the way up. Definitely bring a rain jacket, windbreaker, and waterproof backpack. The stairs get slippery, and the wind near the summit can be surprisingly strong. Good shoes are a must. It’s a long and steep hike, so start early if you plan to go on foot. The views are incredible when the clouds part, and the sense of accomplishment at the top makes it all worth it. The only downsides are the commercialization in some parts and the crowds during holidays. Still, this is a must-do for anyone who enjoys hiking and doesn’t mind a challenge. Just be ready for changing weather and bring the right gear.

The main point of staying in this hotel is that it is located next to two 18 holes golf courses. It is extremely convenient for golfers as the golf courses are only 5 minutes’ drive away. This is a countryside hotel, and one should not compare to the 5 stars hotel located in bigger cities. My room was comfortable, no cigarette smell and was clean. Breakfast was typical of a countryside hotel. It was good enough. The hotel has a big compound with a pagoda and a manicured garden. Very beautiful and serene.

Before leaving for the resort for a 3 days 2 nights golf holiday, I read with concern, some negative reviews written 7 years ago about the rooms being dirty, full of cigarette smell, paper thin walls and nothing working. I consoled myself that after 7 years, things should improve. Unfortunately, everything written were still the same in 2025. Basically a 2-3* countryside hotel. So lower your expectations.

The Longji or Dragon’s Backbone rice terraces were built over 500 years ago during the Ming Dynasty. The terrace fields are found in Longsheng about a two hours drive from Guilin. From a distance, during the growing season, these winding terraces appear as if they were green woven cables laid out over the hillsides, starting at the riverbank and ending near the mountaintop. Visitors can meander through the paddies and villages, greeting and being greeted by horses, pigs, chickens and hard working locals.

Lang N — Google review
I really wanted to like this place. The photos that others posted made it look like a can't miss visit. Moon hill is a popular place. When we arrived we were approached by some ladies trying to sell us tickets and water. If that happens to you, you don't have to buy from them, keep going to the entrance. Buy a ticket from the office and then go inside. The path is all paved. It will take 20 to 30 minutes to get to the top. It can get slippery if it's raining or has just rained, so be careful. When we went the weather has hot and humid. We were sweating immediately. On top of that, there were a lot of mosquitoes. So bring water and use bug repellent. When we got to the top we were approached by another lady to buy refreshments. I felt like I couldn't relax with all the mosquitoes and the lady there. We went to the platform to take photos. It is beautiful, but without any wind and the constant mosquitoes, we quickly left. The best view of moon hill is actually at the entrance. There is a wooden platform across from the trail head. Climb up the stairs and you'll see Moon Hill. It is a great view! Come prepared so you can truly enjoy the experience.

It's considered one of the Eight Famous Sceneries of Nanning and offers a wonderful hour-long walk. Visitors can take a shuttle car to the top for panoramic views of Nanning city and visit a temple for prayer. The spot also features an orchid garden that's around a 15-minute walk from the entrance gate.

A very very big park. Great for morning exercise. There are many attractions within the park so you have to be selective. The easy way is to take a tram to the top (when most people get off) and walking down to explore. There is only Chinese signage and even that it is not very clear. There is Buddhist temple and viewing deck at the top. The other attraction I visited is the Longxiang Tower 龙象塔, which offers a 360 view of the city. The Confucian Temple 南宁孔庙 is near the south gate.
Julian W — Google review
This is an absolutely huge park or mountain with several entrances. The park is manicured throughout with several themes, with temples, gardens, lakes, bridges, etc. scattered around. To enjoy it in full, at least a good half day should be allowed and to be prepared for a lot of walking, or there are shuttle buses for different routes that would take to different beautiful spots and attractions with stops enroute. There is a metro exit right next to the Western entrance, which is most convenient. From the top, by the temple, there are observation platforms that offer a superb view of Nanning.

Ban Gioc Waterfalls

Waterfalls
The Ban Gioc waterfall, situated near the Chinese border, is a popular tourist spot in Vietnam. The waterfall drops 30m and is fed by the Quay Son River that runs along the Vietnam-China border. To visit this scenic location, visitors need to obtain a police permit which can be purchased at the police station beside the waterfall after showing their passport.
This place is absolutely stunning—the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve seen in Vietnam. The sheer amount of water flowing over the multi-tiered falls is incredible, and the setting feels like something out of a postcard. I took a bamboo raft ride right up close to the base, which gave a whole new perspective of its size and power. What really amazed me was how many separate falls are in one spot—dozens of them spilling down through lush greenery. It’s surreal seeing the Vietnam–China border marked by such a natural wonder. From where I stood and snapped my photos, the views were unforgettable. Water was cascading over moss-covered rocks, mist rising up into the air, and boats drifting towards the falls. The water below was a clean greenish-blue, and the surrounding limestone peaks just added to the drama. There were spots where the water pooled perfectly still before continuing downstream. The walkways and bridges gave access to all the best viewpoints without spoiling the natural vibe. If you’re anywhere in northern Vietnam—especially around Cao Bằng—this place should be at the top of your list. Note you cannot use drones here due to proximity to the Chinese border.

🌟 Rating: 5/5 📍 Ban Gioc Waterfall – A Breathtaking Masterpiece of Nature Ban Gioc is one of the most stunning waterfalls in Southeast Asia, and witnessing it in person feels like stepping into a dream. The cascading water stretches wide across multiple levels, tumbling down from the cliffs into the emerald river below, all framed by majestic limestone mountains and lush green fields. ✨ Highlights: Magnificent natural scenery that looks like a real-life painting. Fresh, cool air – a peaceful escape from the city. Countless photo spots, especially beautiful during sunrise or sunset. You can take a bamboo raft ride close to the base of the falls – an unforgettable experience! If you're exploring Northern Vietnam, Ban Gioc Waterfall is a must-see for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts alike.

Cao Bang left me genuinely amazed from the moment I arrived. Tucked away in Vietnam’s far north, this land feels untouched, pure, and breathtakingly beautiful. The journey itself was already a delight – winding mountain roads, fresh cool air, and endless views of rolling hills fading into the horizon. But nothing prepared me for the sight of Ban Gioc Waterfall. Standing before it, I was overwhelmed by its sheer size and power. The water cascaded down in layers, white and foamy, into a jade-green pool, surrounded by lush greenery. It was like stepping into a scene from a dream. Everywhere in Cao Bang seemed to hold its own magic. The Quay Son River flowed calmly through golden rice fields, reflecting the towering limestone mountains like a giant natural mirror. Villages dotted along the way felt peaceful and welcoming, with traditional stilt houses and warm smiles from the locals. The air was crisp and clean, carrying the scent of fresh earth and blooming flowers. What surprised me most was how raw and untouched everything felt. There were no crowds, no rush – just nature in its purest form. I spent hours simply sitting by the river, watching the sunlight dance on the water, feeling a deep sense of peace I rarely find elsewhere. Leaving Cao Bang, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to have witnessed such beauty. It’s the kind of place that stays with you, not just in photographs, but in your heart – a reminder that some of the world’s most stunning treasures are found where few have yet to wander.

One of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever visited!” Ban Gioc Waterfall is an absolute gem and a must-visit if you’re in northern Vietnam. The power and beauty of the cascading water surrounded by lush green mountains is something you have to see to believe. I took a bamboo raft ride close to the waterfall — the view was spectacular, and the mist on my face made the experience even more magical. Despite being a bit far from Hanoi, the peaceful scenery and local charm make it totally worth the journey. A perfect spot for photography, nature lovers, or anyone looking to experience Vietnam’s raw natural beauty. Highly recommended!

We loved these waterfalls. It wasn't busy when we visited, it definitely felt like they were in the process of building some more paths, some are half built but not a problem. A bargain for only 40k each. Plus 10k to park our scooter outside.

The view of Bản Giốc Waterfall, nestled along the border between Vietnam and China is simply breathtaking. This natural wonder is one of the most majestic and scenic spots in Northern Vietnam. The cascading waters, surrounded by lush emerald green rice fields, create a serene and charming atmosphere. The waterfall itself is massive and powerful, yet incredibly peaceful to watch. The mist rising from the falls adds a magical feel. Whether viewed from the river below on a bamboo raft or from one of the nearby viewpoints, the scenery is nothing short of spectacular. However, the park is relatively under developed compared to other tourist destinations, which actually adds to its charm. It feels authentic, quiet, and not overly commercialized. The locals are warm and welcoming, and there's a sense of calm that stays with you long after you've left. Getting there however is a bit challenging, the road journey from Hanoi Airport to the waterfall is around 11 hours if you add in stopovers for meals and toilet breaks, but the stunning landscapes along the way make it worthwhile. It will be a good idea to find a nearby accommodation to rest for the night to rest and head for the waterfall the next day. Highly recommended for nature lovers, photographers, or anyone looking to experience the raw beauty of Vietnam. I can assure you it is all worth the effort

Amazing views, cheap ticket for entry can buy inside. Don't feel like you need to get one of those boats out to the waterfalls since you can walk along the river bank quite close to soak it in. Also cool to be able to see china right across the other side. After checking the waterfalls out, make sure to go up to the Buddhist pagoda on the hill nearby for an amazing above view of the falls and the entire valley you worn regret it - some ladies at the road might try and tell you you can't drive up the road to the temple in the hope you park in front of their stalls but you can no problem to save yourself a big steep walk - just be careful and go slow on the ride up & down.

Fabulous! Better than expected. Unfortunately the viewing was confined to the Vietnamese side which is a wide expanse of land at the foot of the fall while the high vantage point from the skywalk is over at the Chinese side across the border.

Must see in Vietnam- despite it is so turisted. Were on a luxury cruise which was a great experience in it self - but I assume all boats give the same tours and the nature is stunning.

Very nice place. A must see when you come to Vietnam. I recommend the minimum 2 nights stay as most of the people only take one night and don’t get to see the most beautiful places. In the first day you only get to see the most crowded places. In the next day we went to a remote location and enjoyed some nice views and activities.

Superb scenery. Tourist attractions packed but was to be expected. Stay a night and take in the amazing surroundings first thing in the morning. Choose your cruise carefully!

Oasis Bay Classic Cruise is a luxury cruise that offers a party atmosphere starting at 9pm. The two-day tour includes activities like kayaking, jacuzzi relaxation, and squid fishing. The crew is attentive and the guide speaks English fluently. Guests are treated to delicious meals and various excursions to caves, islands, beaches, and kayaking spots with stunning views. Despite the boat being slightly old, it is well-maintained with all necessary amenities.
Very nice experience. Well organised tour and cruise. Friendly staff and tasty food. The boat is a bit old, but all the amenities are present and everything is clean. I would definitely recommend.

Best during summer time *April to September* ONLY It was quite cold and very few ppl on the cruise. In such a case ideally the cruise should cancel so that there are more people and as everyone knows- the more the merrier!! Unfortunately for us the day was gloomy and cold. Sun was out only the next morning. Our guide Victor was really good and a sweet chap. Kayaking, trampoline, Jacuzzi was fun. We couldn’t swim as it was so cold. The food on the cruise was just alright. For the first meal they ran out of a few dishes, which seems illogical considering the number of people!! The second meal was decent, the third and last meal was like a favor on us! So so poor. Id recommend you to carry a few things from the city- snacks, tea/coffee and most importantly water. The bar staff and servers were sweet. Rooms were really spacious. Included toiletries. I find it weird they ask us to leave the room by 8.30-9am. It simply pointless as we waited a long time at the restaurant level to get to the port and then into the boat. So be prepared to wake up early after a long party night. Besides the worst part was the house keeping simply walks into your room. Zero sense of security!

Given 3 stars as the cruise it self was good ...but after reading some reviews ..it is easy to get relieved of you're money pretty easy with out a full explanation what services you should have taken part in ..DO NoT buy from a ticket tout even in the main cruise building ..or hotel you will end up paying heaps more and trying to track the tout should anything go wrong is a knight mare...go to the main desk ..ask what options are ..such as what food and what excursions you wish to go on like the row boat as that costs more on to you're ticket ..beware don't rush Into purchasing a ticket from just anyone you won't get the full enjoyment otherwise

Great experience. The food was delicious, the room spacious and clean. The only con was the cold water at the shower. We met nice people, we played cards, danced and had a good time together.
Ioana S — Google review
This was a let down considering the amount of money we paid. The hot tubs were cold (and it was barely 15 degrees outside). The “happy hour” was buy 2 get 1 free but had to be cocktails (the website said 2 for 1 any drinks). Drinks were expensive and the bar tending was slow especially considering there was only 25 other people on the cruise. We asked if more people would be joining us and they lied, saying there would be others joining us the next day. On the last day we were not fed lunch (despite it being on the itinerary) and so if you didn’t get up for breakfast (which was at 7am) you didn’t eat until 6pm that night back in Hanoi. Wish I had not purchased this expensive cruise.

Five star cruise, five star service, great hosts, great staff, good food and the party night was amazing.
Vipul L — Google review
We booked February 16-17 2023, The jacuzzis were all freezing (except for the smallest one which has a capacity of 6 on a boat carrying 70 passengers), on a day where the temperature was 17°c and the staff kept lying to us saying "it is heating for the big party tonight" which we later discovered was only to make us shut up. Also didn't do the drinking games they promised us, there was zero animation and the alcohol is fairly expensive for vietnam. We basically paid over 200$ for a kayaking trip. Ha long bay itself is nice though, you should book with another boat
Justin D — Google review
We booked this tour from our hotel (Fancy Hotel in HaLong). We were picked up from the hotel and were delivered right at the tour boat. The guide spoke English well and was enthusiastic and energetic. Lunch was provided on the boat as well. This tour took us to caves, islands, beaches and kayaking spots and provided us with enough amazing views. We chose this day tour instead of the one night two days tour, and I didn't regret that decision for a second. Would definitely recommend this tour!

First time on a cruise in Halong Bay. The rooms were decent. The bathroom was see through and flooded every time the shower was used. The crew were friendly, polite and looked after us well. The food and drinks were average. The spring roll making and karaoke was great fun. I wouldn't stay overnight again as it was difficult to sleep with the sounds of water splashing against the boat all night.
Andrew — Google review
We did a 2 night cruise, and had 2 different guides who didn’t communicate and the second day was a repeat of the first, so we stayed on the boat. The food was average and the room wasn’t cleaned on the second day, which is awful when u can’t flush the toilet paper. Also my husband and 3 Kiwis got an upset stomach after night 2. The food looked good but didn’t taste good. The boat is old and tired and has fake grass covering the uneven deck. Please consider paying a bit more and choose something a bit better.

We had a lovely cruise on Halong Bay on Lavender Cruise. Alex, our tour guide was friendly and informative and provided an enjoyable cruise ensuring we ticked off the highlights of the bay including Ti Top Island and Secret Cave. Alex is extremely knowledgeable about the area and ensured we made it to Secret Cave before the crowds on the second morning. The crew on board the boat ensured we were well fed and looked after. Highly recommend.

One of the best experiences during my stay in Vietnam. The cruise was booked last minute because other cruise company tried to cheat us. And we are so happy we booked Lavender cruise at the end. The guide Bobby is very nice, helpful and tried to make everything so the passangers were satisfied. They upgraded our room so we had a big corner room surrounded by windows with stunning view. Main attractions of the cruise - Titop island, kayaking and Surprising cave are very crowded but thanks to Bobby we had kayaking only by our small group. There are also night attractions - karaoke and squid fishing. The food on the ferry is very delicious. Mostly they serve seafood so if you have other preferences you need to inform them in advance. The cocktails on board are quite expensive (6-7$ per one) but it is a common practice on ferry cruises in Hà long. We were very lucky to have a great weather and to meet great people on the boat so if I could, I would rate this cruise 6 out of 5 because everything was way better than we expected.

This overnight cruise exceeded all expectations! A truly wonderful experience, made even more memorable by the exceptional service of Jackie and Tracy. Their attentiveness and warmth really elevated the trip. We highly recommend opting for the room upgrade; the extra space was a luxurious treat, and the expansive restroom was a pleasant surprise. The private deck provided a serene escape to enjoy the breathtaking views. The culinary offerings were incredibly plentiful, with a diverse range of delicious dishes that satisfied every palate. To top it all off, the mixed drinks were not only expertly crafted but also surprisingly affordable, making for a delightful and relaxing evening. This cruise offers incredible value and creates lasting memories.

We really loved our 3-day, 2-night cruise, it felt like a soft landing in Ha Long Bay. The staff were incredibly kind, generous, and always eager to accommodate anything we needed. The trip was well-organized and peaceful, with just the right amount of activities like kayaking, cave & pearl farm visits, swimming... easy and enjoyable for both adults and kids. It was also a very family-friendly experience. Our kids felt welcome, and the staff made them feel seen and included, which made it that much more special. Something small that didn’t resonate with us as much, though offered in good spirit was live Vietnamese violinist playing a Vietnamese violin. He played beautifully, but only Western/American songs - which felt a little disconnected from the local setting. We would’ve loved even one or two Vietnamese pieces to connect more deeply with the culture. During the spring roll-making demonstration (which was fun, cute, and surprisingly practical to learn how to make them) hygiene could be improved. Only hand sanitizer was used by staff and guests, versus everyone washing their hands and having gloves available for all. That said, overall it was a lovely and memorable experience. A clean, calm, and welcoming cruise that helped us experience Ha Long Bay in a relaxing, effortless way. We’re so glad we did it.

Beautiful 3 day 2 night trip with Bhaya Legend 4. The cabins, dining room and sun deck are amazing. The breakfast, lunch and dinner are delicious. Kevin, the boat manager, took great care of us. The kayaking tour through the caves and lakes was a unique experience. Rest of the staff also extremely friendly. Highly recommended experience when you are in Vietnam

The cruise was fine however was very disappointed with the village trip, this looked like a staged village with restraunts setup by the cruise company. Booked 1 night stay and plan to visit the caves by canoe but the village trip took the afternoon up and due to 1 night stay the only offer to canoe to the caves was at 7:15am. Would have been better time spent in the afternoon canoeing and visiting caves rather than the village and offer village trip next day. Feel.like it's been to commercialised to warrant 5 stars.

My wife and I had an amazing cruise. Transfer to and from our hotel in Hanoï was organised for us, we were on a small 3 cabin boat, in a wooden cabin with all comfort and equipment we needed. It was our honeymoon, and we have a couple of surprises waiting for us for the occasion, which we both highly appreciated ! Many thanks again to Bahya Cruises

The cruise features 35 spacious luxurious cabins with modern amenities, private sun terraces, and bathtubs in each room.
Au Cô cruise was definitely one of the nicer cruise ships in the bay! We were so happy we went with this cruise - all of the staff was so friendly and attentive and the ship was very well maintained. The views were absolutely stunning and majestic. Not a lot of wifi but you shouldn’t need it anyway !! The schedule of activities was a perfect balance of staying busy while also having time to relax. We went bike riding, had a cooking class, enjoyed happy hour at sunset, morning kayaking and stopped at a beach. My husband did the night squid fishing and caught a squid. We had a deluxe room near the front and the room was more spacious - highly recommend especially if you have a lot of luggage. Everything was nice and clean. There was a welcome lunch buffet, seated dinner and breakfast buffet. Plenty of food available. They accommodated for vegetarians like myself and other dietary needs. There was made to order options like eggs, noodle soups etc. Loved it and can’t wait to take our friends and family on this cruise next time we’re in Vietnam!

I had the pleasure of being on the Au Co 2 for two nights and tree days in February. Besides the amazing natural beauty, the staff is dedicated to making your stay the highlight of your Vietnam travels. I was a solo traveler, but the crew always made me feel welcomed and important. Tom was an amazing cruise director, and Cindy and Joy were personable and highly professional. I can’t thank Elijah enough for helping me find transport back to Hanoi after discovering my planned transport was not at the port. Treat yourself to a trip of a lifetime by taking the Au Co cruise in Ha Long Bay – you will not be disappointed.

Lan Ha Bay is a stunning destination in Vietnam, located to the east and south of Cat Ba Town. It boasts over 300 karst islets and smooth white-sand beaches, offering a serene and secluded atmosphere for visitors. Unlike its famous neighbor Halong Bay, Lan Ha Bay sees fewer tourist boats, allowing for a more isolated and authentic experience. Travelers can explore the marine life, including seals, dolphins, fish, and coral reefs while experiencing the local way of life.
This destination is a true gem, with island hills that look like they’re straight out of a postcard, offering scenic hikes for those who enjoy a bit of adventure. The gentle cruise ride is a lovely way to soak in the views, with stops at fascinating caves that add a unique touch to the experience. The highlight is definitely the sunset – watching it from the top deck is simply breathtaking and makes for the perfect photo opportunity. It’s one of those rare moments where nature’s beauty truly stuns. However, a few aspects may not appeal to everyone. The location has become quite popular, so expect crowds, especially at peak times. The beaches are beautiful but can feel packed with tourists, which slightly detracts from the natural vibe. Additionally, if you’re staying on a cruise overnight, be prepared for a lively rooftop scene. While some may enjoy the music and social atmosphere, it can be noisy for those looking to relax and unwind. Despite the crowds and noise, the experience of cruising through these beautiful landscapes, exploring caves, and watching an unforgettable sunset makes it all worthwhile. If you’re open to the bustling energy of other travelers, this place offers an amazing island adventure.

Super cool experience! The scenic views were amazing and super beautiful. It’s crazy to see how vast and big this bay is. It really tops the pictures and videos you see. It’s like King Kong was about to pop over the side hahah. But overall it was super peaceful the water was cold when we went but not terrible if you want a refreshing dip. It was very clean and taken care of where we went. I definitely recommend checking it out if you want to.

After boarding; a safety briefing; and lunch, we head off to Lan Ha Bay (at the south of the Halong Bay maritime national park area), where we visit the “Dark and Bright Cave” via local bamboo boat. Must admit though … as caves go, I have seen better.

Best experience ever in Vietnam! Our tour guide, Tony, was incredibly kind. The food was absolutely delicious, and we made so many new friends from Europe. After dinner, we had a fun karaoke party, tried squid fishing, and even learned how to make spring rolls. The highlight of the trip was definitely kayaking—the area was peaceful and less crowded. The biking adventure the next day on Cat Ba Island was equally amazing. The scenery was breathtaking. 100000/5 stars! Thanks to Sunlight Cruise

Must visit! Amazing natural space definitely needed to be seen when coming to the north of Vietnam. Unfortunately the level of rubbish in the water is pretty shocking and I definitely thought that we treat ourselves with a very big cruise which is the end is one of the few options available to visit the sea. If you can avoid an old-style

It’s definitely a must see and the view over the bay on our beautiful luxury ship was a real treat- BUT I was shocked about the rubbish floating around and the murky water. Why is nobody taking care of the so promoted unesco world heritage nature wonder??? Please do something about it. Would NEVER swim in it. Kayaking was nice but I worried to get sick just by touching the waters. Shame

Cát Bà Island is the largest island in Ha Long Bay and is known for its diverse natural ecosystems, including marine and terrestrial habitats. The island is home to a national park that covers about half of its area, providing a sanctuary for the highly endangered Cat Ba langur. With limestone karsts, tropical forests, coral reefs, mangroves, and more, Cát Bà boasts high biodiversity.
Stunning and anyone who says otherwise has no appreciation for earths natural beauty. Yes there is a lot of construction going on BUT there is also so much stunning flora and fauna alongside life changing mountainous views unlike anything I’ve ever seen with my own eyes before

Construction going on atm until 2030 at the front but if you take scooter you see beautiful beaches and coast - it’s just one part of the island when there’s so many other wonderful treasures that the island offers

5 star for price. Staff are very pleasant and accommodating. Laid back hotel. The simple breakfast is enough to kickstart your day. Clean rooms. Shower is combined with toilet so expect a wet floor in there, normal for small hotels. Good location.

Good people, very friendly and helpful. In the morning there is not often someone at the desk as they are preparing food for breakfast. You have different options for breakfast. 4 egg options and 1 pancake option. Due to some problems we decided to stay longer and that was no problem. Our laundry didn't feel properly done though as it felt like a lot of softener was used but no stains were really removed. Other downside was that the elevator didn't work for 2 times/days. But there was construction going on next door so I think that was the problem. All in all good nice hotel.

Rather overpriced. Photos look much better. This is a very basic room worth 10$ not 20$+ We saw they used to have a great breakfast... But reading the other reviews they have changed it after Covid. It was a disaster. We decided to skip the breakfast the following days. They send you to the neighbour hotel. It is the most horrible buffet we had in Vietnam. Consisting of just some toast and awful soup. Owner seems to do some drill where he offers to help whenever we need, but this all seems fake.

This is such a nice little hotel. My wife and I stayed four nights in a double room with very spacious beds and everything was super clean. The breakfast was nice. The cheese and ham omelette can be recommended. The people who run the hotel are also really sweet. They helped us rent a scooter and extend our stay with two more nights. This place is such good value. The only downside is that the rooms are not that well sound isolated within the building, but it does a pretty good job keeping the noise from outside away. And the hotel is nicely located a bit away from the main street.

Stayed here for three nights in a private room. The location was really good and the staff were mostly helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean, no complaints at all there. Price was very decent. The negatives for me was that the hotel lacked a bit of personality, which is why I don't give it the highest grade. This is maybe something that not every traveler seeks, but personally I enjoy a hotel with charisma and a good vibe, and here it was a little bit stale unfortunately.

Amazing quality for a great price. Been traveling Southeast Asia for two months now and this is one of the more memorable hotels. Good location. Very clean. Quiet. Huge beds. Delicious breakfast. I came with my friend for her bday and the staff helped me arrange to put a birthday cake and champagne in her room (which I paid a little extra for) but then they also got her a beautiful bouquet of flowers which made the room smell so good.

Ba Bể National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Ba Be National Park Tour offers a chance to explore the vast natural reserve in North Vietnam, spanning over 23,000 hectares. The park is centered around Ba Be Lake, nestled amidst limestone cliffs and featuring caves and waterfalls. Visitors can enjoy boat rides on the lake and trekking along its scenic trails. Additionally, bicycle tours are available for exploring the area.
Very nice place with comfortable homestays and coffee shops

Ba Be is a surprisingly low key tourist destination, a picture perfect mountain lake surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The main accommodation options are simple homestays in a small hilltribe village. It's a lovely place, but sadly, while the lake is nice to look at, there's not much to do, really. Boat trips are more geared towards domestic tour groups and quite pricey, and I didn't find any suitable place for a nice swim anywhere around.

Beautiful place , accommodation is pretty standard and not too many options, but still on the to do list if you are traveling north Vietnam

Ba Bè lake is an autentic place in the north of Vietnam, nothing turistic at all! It's pretty wild there...and that makes this place even more beautiful! We stayed in a homestay in the middle of nowhere, so unreal! I have so many beautiful memories there...

This is the largest natural lake in North Vietnam situated in the remote mountains accessible by narrow and winding mountain roads Accommodation in this National Park is by way of numerous home stays. Our lodging is clean and food is good by local standards Boating facilities are available for a modest fee

Ba Be national park is huge natural reserve in North Vietnam. We were told it is more than 23000 hectares in size. One of the highlight is the Ba Be lake which is a natural lake amidst limestone cliffs. There are also few beautiful caves and waterfalls. So refreshing to go on a long boat ride on the lake. There are lot of trekking trails around Ba Be lake and these are a must do. There are also bicycle tours to go around the lake. The road is pretty good and hardly there is traffic. Visit the Ba Be tourism centre at the entrance of the national park to get more details.

Beautiful and peaceful piece of land in Northern Vietnam. Definitely one of the must sees while visiting this part of the country. Boat trip on the lake is a must and is one of the highlights of what you can do here besides kayaking, trekking or simply laying back and enjoying the nature. Multiple and welcoming homestays to choose from which will only elevate the experience higher.

Beautiful scenery. It's stunning to ride the boat on Ba Be lake, especially when you going through the cave. It's worth for a visit to this beautiful place.
