Lots of construction on main beach - no access to beach and a sky full of cranes….id give this place a miss till they finish the work over the next 5 years. We stayed long enough to do a bay day tour (excellent) but the vibe on the main drag sort of ruined it we left a day early

I excepted more, but Cat Ba island is not really what I thought. Everything in the main island is quite basic, constructions, overpriced restaurants, not good quality seafood (some still nice but not all),… Only thing I can enjoy more is going to see the sea with the boat tour: nice sea with sunny light, you can take nice pictures and can go swimming there too, visit some caves bypass,… Think 3 days is enough to visit there.

Beautiful island but massive construction projects, lack of infrastructure general confusion makes it not worth visiting right now Insanely noisy do to huge construction project larger than the existing city. Every cruise or tour I scheduled got cancelled (4 in a row) so unless you’re planning on just eating, drinking and listening to jackhammers all day probably avoid it for now.

I really like this place very beautiful and peaceful, on the main island of Cat Ba there is a small town, but quite modern. People here live by seafaring and tourism, they are trying to catch up with the hustle and bustle of tourists from outside arriving on the island. However, the service here is not always good, when experiencing the restaurant here you should pay the price before ordering.

Very nice place. A must see when you come to Vietnam. I recommend the minimum 2 nights stay as most of the people only take one night and don’t get to see the most beautiful places. In the first day you only get to see the most crowded places. In the next day we went to a remote location and enjoyed some nice views and activities.

The views are unquestionably outstanding! We went in November which is out of season but the place was still so busy. Large tour groups go around the park with guides who shout constantly through loudspeakers which takes away from the serenity of the park. Also, we needed to get down via cable car but had run out of cash from paying for so many bus transfers, tickets and entrance fees. We were told by a hotel that they will take MasterCard but they didn’t! We were stuck and the cable car was soon closing. The ticket officer was just laughing at us which made it even worse. We luckily found a very sweet group of ladies who paid our fare and we made it down. Terrible service from the park though!

I've never hated stairs more in my life. However, this sight is truly beautiful and one of a kind! Definitely a must visit when you are traveling! I don't think there are that many foreigners that know about this mountain at least as of when I'm writing this

HongCun Ancient Village - is a very beautiful China village. it still keep the old lane, some of the old houses. Alot of people come and rent traditional costume and have a professional photoshoot like us, or by themselves, its fun either way. a full day to spent this place at slow pace, or even 2 days if you planning to rent and shoot professionally which you can find alot there.

Quite a nice village to walk around. It's a 5A scenic spot in China as well. Village is not exactly big probably max 3 hours should do the walk. Note that don't anyhow walk into another village as the boundary might not the clear . Long history within the village, best with a tour guide

This place is overrated in my opinion. An ancient village is now just full of tourists. Most of the food is basically just tourist trap food. The reflections in the water actually are quite nice though the pictures look better than what it looks like in reality. For some reason foreigners with a passport have 50 percent off their tickets. It’s also not a big place you can probably finish the entire area in about an hour to an hour and a half. Unbelievable that this is 5A tourist destination, definitely not a top tier tourist destination.

Historical village with beautiful architecture. Recommend going in the morning as it became literally too busy to tour by 2:00 pm and that was on a weekday. Definitely worth a trip but don’t expect to spend more than 2-3 hours there unless you’re on a guided tour.

One of the nicest historical City in China. The world Heritage City is open for public. You can enter most of the areas. The old City is closed and you need an access ticket. On weekends is it very crowded. I recommend to purchase the ticket ahead. You can also book English tour guides. The City goes back to Song dynasty (11 AC). Current city had been built 1403-23 in the Ming Dynasty under emperor Yongle. The city footprint looks like an Ox. Recommend to visit with an overnight stay in closeby modern Hongcun. I was impressed by the park and its lake - although its in the city, area is big and green, you feel yourself relaxed, surraunded by nature, dufferent trees, sculptures, chinees temples, small boads floating in water. You can find many benches, as well as cafes and playgrounds for kids. Dont expect, that you see whole park in 1 day - for that you need to rent a bicycle and be fit :) also you may rent a boat (price is fixed for all of them and depends on the distance) to see spectacular vies from the lake side. The park has differently designed areas, for example, traditional chinees garden, modern sculpture park, west plams trees garden and many others. For me the most exciting was walking down the sidewalk, where water is at the both sides.

One of the biggest lake in the heart of a city. Definitely worth spend more than 2 days to check out the area, doing some hiking, kayaking or biking.

All I can say is wow! The overall layout of Hubei Provincial Museum reflects the construction model and characteristics of Chu State (a state in the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC-476BC)). It is amazing to see what kind of technology that they had even before Christ was born. The tomb of Marquis was simply impressive. How well preserved it was as well as all of the artifacts that were buried. He was the 9th emperor of the Han dynasty. There are many photos showing how they excavated the tomb and parts which were completely under water. The majority of the works lost wax technique. It is hard to imagine that they could make such detailed bronze statuary. The museum is split into three parts: the comprehensive exhibition hall, the Chu Culture Exhibition Hall and the Chime Bell Exhibition Hall. The bells were so impressive. There was a small display in a corner where you could simulate the bells tones just by pressing a key on a keyboard. Depending on where the bell was hit was a different tone.

On the upper deck, there is a beautifully painted ceramic hall in green color with 4-sided outdoor terrace, with stunning views of Wuhan city and Yangtze River.

It takes around 45mins of uphill walk to reach the peak from the main gate entrance near 溁湾镇(地铁站). Was a tiring hike up, but there is an option of a tram ride. Hike up and on your way down, you can visit An Wan pavilion, then Yue Lu Academy.

This one was quite overrated for me. Once you get to the entrance you pay for a bus service to go to the top assuming you don’t want to take the long walk. Once you are up there you can see a nice view of the city but that’s about it. The other attractions here are kind of mediocre.

Chairman Mao was giving birth at this small villages in Shaoshan farmer family. This residence where he lived for 17 years with his siblings and parents . The old residence show case of his childhood and the farming works. He loves to study instead of doing the farm work as one of the eldest son, he has high expectation from his dad to inherit the family business. Great to visit if you happen to be here to see his childhood residence ! This is just another 10 mins walk from the bronze statue. You may expect to have Long queue into visiting if his house and you also need to keep your camera and big carrier in the locker!

In all honesty, it's just a house. Not very large, and with a very very long line. But, the environment around it and historical importance make it a very cool spot nonetheless.

The moon hill is one of its kind with a moon like hole in the middle, it looks interesting. You can walk up the hill, on the way there is a temple as well which is worth visiting. We went up on a hot and humid day but still going up the steps was not much effort. Worth visiting if you are in this area.

I really wanted to like this place. The photos that others posted made it look like a can't miss visit. Moon hill is a popular place. When we arrived we were approached by some ladies trying to sell us tickets and water. If that happens to you, you don't have to buy from them, keep going to the entrance. Buy a ticket from the office and then go inside. The path is all paved. It will take 20 to 30 minutes to get to the top. It can get slippery if it's raining or has just rained, so be careful. When we went the weather has hot and humid. We were sweating immediately. On top of that, there were a lot of mosquitoes. So bring water and use bug repellent. When we got to the top we were approached by another lady to buy refreshments. I felt like I couldn't relax with all the mosquitoes and the lady there. We went to the platform to take photos. The easy way is to take a tram to the top (when most people get off) and walking down to explore. There is only Chinese signage and even that it is not very clear. There is Buddhist temple and viewing deck at the top. The other attraction I visited is the Longxiang Tower 龙象塔, which offers a 360 view of the city. The Confucian Temple 南宁孔庙 is near the south gate.

This is an absolutely huge park or mountain with several entrances. The park is manicured throughout with several themes, with temples, gardens, lakes, bridges, etc. scattered around. To enjoy it in full, at least a good half day should be allowed and to be prepared for a lot of walking, or there are shuttle buses for different routes that would take to different beautiful spots and attractions with stops enroute. There is a metro exit right next to the Western entrance, which is most convenient. From the top, by the temple, there are observation platforms that offer a superb view of Nanning.

Qingxiu Mountain is a truly amazing place to visit, with its long history, ancient architecture, and stunning scenic views. Highly recommended!

Good park in Nanning. RMB 20 for adult entry. Well maintained, and a lot of beautiful plants. Shuttle cars are available with RMB 5 per ride or RMB 34 for a daily ticket. You can hire a bicycle but it is not so easy to ride due to the hilly terrain.

This is a nice quiet place, suitable to come for relaxing both mind and body to get freshness and of course able to pay respect to Holy Lord Budha and Mother Kuan-im at the mountain top.

To reach the top of Qingxiu mountain, you can buy a shuttle car ticket and go to their station near the entrance gate. From the top of mountain, you can see panoramic of Nanning's city. Not only that, on the top of the mountain, there's a temple where you can pray. If you walk down of the mountain you can also find a Thailand temple. Near the entrance gate, there's a orchid garden and you need to walk around 15 minutes to reach the garden.

Cao Bang left me genuinely amazed from the moment I arrived. Tucked away in Vietnam’s far north, this land feels untouched, pure, and breathtakingly beautiful. But nothing prepared me for the sight of Ban Gioc Waterfall. Standing before it, I was overwhelmed by its sheer size and power. The water cascaded down in layers, white and foamy, into a jade-green pool, surrounded by lush greenery. It was like stepping into a scene from a dream. Everywhere in Cao Bang seemed to hold its own magic. The Quay Son River flowed calmly through golden rice fields, reflecting the towering limestone mountains like a giant natural mirror. Villages dotted along the way felt peaceful and welcoming, with traditional stilt houses and warm smiles from the locals. We loved these waterfalls. It wasn't busy when we visited, it definitely felt like they were in the process of building some more paths, some are half built but not a problem. A bargain for only 40k each. Plus 10k to park our scooter outside.

Amazing views, cheap ticket for entry can buy inside. Don't feel like you need to get one of those boats out to the waterfalls since you can walk along the river bank quite close to soak it in. Also cool to be able to see china right across the other side. After checking the waterfalls out, make sure to go up to the Buddhist pagoda on the hill nearby for an amazing above view of the falls and the entire valley you worn regret it - some ladies at the road might try and tell you you can't drive up the road to the temple in the hope you park in front of their stalls but you can no problem to save yourself a big steep walk - just be careful and go slow on the ride up & down.

Fabulous! Better than expected. Unfortunately the viewing was confined to the Vietnamese side which is a wide expanse of land at the foot of the fall while the high vantage point from the skywalk is over at the Chinese side across the border.

I recently visited Ha Long Bay, and it was an unforgettable experience. The sheer beauty of the limestone karsts rising dramatically from the emerald green waters is absolutely mesmerizing. The scenery feels like something out of a dream. I opted for a day cruise, which allowed us to explore the caves, enjoy kayaking, and relax while taking in the serene surroundings. Sung Sot Cave was an incredible highlight with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The boat ride was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. If you have more time, I highly recommend the overnight cruises, which I plan to do next time. One small downside was the number of tourists in certain areas, but it didn’t take away from the overall beauty and tranquility of the place. The local food served on the boat was fresh and flavorful, adding an authentic Vietnamese touch to the trip. If you’re visiting Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is a destination you simply cannot miss. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason, and it truly lives up to the hype!

Very nice place. A must see when you come to Vietnam. I recommend the minimum 2 nights stay as most of the people only take one night and don’t get to see the most beautiful places. In the first day you only get to see the most crowded places. In the next day we went to a remote location and enjoyed some nice views and activities.

Best during summer time *April to September* ONLY It was quite cold and very few ppl on the cruise. In such a case ideally the cruise should cancel so that there are more people and as everyone knows- the more the merrier!! Unfortunately for us the day was gloomy and cold. Sun was out only the next morning. Our guide Victor was really good and a sweet chap. Kayaking, trampoline, Jacuzzi was fun. We couldn’t swim as it was so cold. The food on the cruise was just alright. For the first meal they ran out of a few dishes, which seems illogical considering the number of people!! The second meal was decent, the third and last meal was like a favor on us! So so poor. Id recommend you to carry a few things from the city- snacks, tea/coffee and most importantly water. The bar staff and servers were sweet. Rooms were really spacious. Included toiletries. I find it weird they ask us to leave the room by 8.30-9am. It simply pointless as we waited a long time at the restaurant level to get to the port and then into the boat. So be prepared to wake up early after a long party night. Besides the worst part was the house keeping simply walks into your room. Zero sense of security!

Given 3 stars as the cruise it self was good ...but after reading some reviews ..it is easy to get relieved of you're money pretty easy with out a full explanation what services you should have taken part in ..DO NoT buy from a ticket tout even in the main cruise building ..or hotel you will end up paying heaps more and trying to track the tout should anything go wrong is a knight mare...go to the main desk ..ask what options are ..such as what food and what excursions you wish to go on like the row boat as that costs more on to you're ticket ..beware don't rush Into purchasing a ticket from just anyone you won't get the full enjoyment otherwise

Great experience. The food was delicious, the room spacious and clean. The only con was the cold water at the shower. We met nice people, we played cards, danced and had a good time together.

This was a let down considering the amount of money we paid. The hot tubs were cold (and it was barely 15 degrees outside). The “happy hour” was buy 2 get 1 free but had to be cocktails (the website said 2 for 1 any drinks). Drinks were expensive and the bar tending was slow especially considering there was only 25 other people on the cruise. We asked if more people would be joining us and they lied, saying there would be others joining us the next day. On the last day we were not fed lunch (despite it being on the itinerary) and so if you didn’t get up for breakfast (which was at 7am) you didn’t eat until 6pm that night back in Hanoi. Wish I had not purchased this expensive cruise.

Five star cruise, five star service, great hosts, great staff, good food and the party night was amazing.

We booked February 16-17 2023, The jacuzzis were all freezing (except for the smallest one which has a capacity of 6 on a boat carrying 70 passengers), on a day where the temperature was 17°c and the staff kept lying to us saying "it is heating for the big party tonight" which we later discovered was only to make us shut up. Also didn't do the drinking games they promised us, there was zero animation and the alcohol is fairly expensive for vietnam. We basically paid over 200$ for a kayaking trip. Ha long bay itself is nice though, you should book with another boat

We booked this tour from our hotel (Fancy Hotel in HaLong). We were picked up from the hotel and were delivered right at the tour boat. The guide spoke English well and was enthusiastic and energetic. Lunch was provided on the boat as well. This tour took us to caves, islands, beaches and kayaking spots and provided us with enough amazing views. We chose this day tour instead of the one night two days tour, and I didn't regret that decision for a second. Would definitely recommend this tour!

First time on a cruise in Halong Bay. The rooms were decent. The bathroom was see through and flooded every time the shower was used. The crew were friendly, polite and looked after us well. The food and drinks were average. The spring roll making and karaoke was great fun. I wouldn't stay overnight again as it was difficult to sleep with the sounds of water splashing against the boat all night.

We did a 2 night cruise, and had 2 different guides who didn’t communicate and the second day was a repeat of the first, so we stayed on the boat. The food was average and the room wasn’t cleaned on the second day, which is awful when u can’t flush the toilet paper. Also my husband and 3 Kiwis got an upset stomach after night 2. The food looked good but didn’t taste good. The boat is old and tired and has fake grass covering the uneven deck. Please consider paying a bit more and choose something a bit better.

We had a lovely cruise on Halong Bay on Lavender Cruise. Alex, our tour guide was friendly and informative and provided an enjoyable cruise ensuring we ticked off the highlights of the bay including Ti Top Island and Secret Cave. Alex is extremely knowledgeable about the area and ensured we made it to Secret Cave before the crowds on the second morning. The crew on board the boat ensured we were well fed and looked after. Highly recommend.

One of the best experiences during my stay in Vietnam. The cruise was booked last minute because other cruise company tried to cheat us. And we are so happy we booked Lavender cruise at the end. The guide Bobby is very nice, helpful and tried to make everything so the passangers were satisfied. They upgraded our room so we had a big corner room surrounded by windows with stunning view. Main attractions of the cruise - Titop island, kayaking and Surprising cave are very crowded but thanks to Bobby we had kayaking only by our small group. There are also night attractions - karaoke and squid fishing. The food on the ferry is very delicious. Mostly they serve seafood so if you have other preferences you need to inform them in advance. The cocktails on board are quite expensive (6-7$ per one) but it is a common practice on ferry cruises in Hà long. We were very lucky to have a great weather and to meet great people on the boat so if I could, I would rate this cruise 6 out of 5 because everything was way better than we expected.

our corner rooms were the largest and quite comfortable with decent beds and lots of windows to look out. the food was plentiful and decent. the transportation from hanoi wasn’t very comfortable but the way back was in a different bus and quite good.

We really loved our 3-day, 2-night cruise, it felt like a soft landing in Ha Long Bay. The staff were incredibly kind, generous, and always eager to accommodate anything we needed. The trip was well-organized and peaceful, with just the right amount of activities like kayaking, cave & pearl farm visits, swimming... easy and enjoyable for both adults and kids. It was also a very family-friendly experience. Our kids felt welcome, and the staff made them feel seen and included, which made it that much more special. Something small that didn’t resonate with us as much, though offered in good spirit was live Vietnamese violinist playing a Vietnamese violin. He played beautifully, but only Western/American songs - which felt a little disconnected from the local setting. We would’ve loved even one or two Vietnamese pieces to connect more deeply with the culture. During the spring roll-making demonstration (which was fun, cute, and surprisingly practical to learn how to make them) hygiene could be improved. Only hand sanitizer was used by staff and guests, versus everyone washing their hands and having gloves available for all. That said, overall it was a lovely and memorable experience. A clean, calm, and welcoming cruise that helped us experience Ha Long Bay in a relaxing, effortless way. We’re so glad we did it.

The cruise was fine however was very disappointed with the village trip, this looked like a staged village with restraunts setup by the cruise company. Booked 1 night stay and plan to visit the caves by canoe but the village trip took the afternoon up and due to 1 night stay the only offer to canoe to the caves was at 7:15am. Would have been better time spent in the afternoon canoeing and visiting caves rather than the village and offer village trip next day. Feel.like it's been to commercialised to warrant 5 stars.

My wife and I had an amazing cruise. Transfer to and from our hotel in Hanoï was organised for us, we were on a small 3 cabin boat, in a wooden cabin with all comfort and equipment we needed. The crew spoke English, and were very helpful, especially Phuc, always making sure we were having a nice trip. Super cool experience! The scenic views were amazing and super beautiful. It’s crazy to see how vast and big this bay is. It really tops the pictures and videos you see. It’s like King Kong was about to pop over the side hahah. But overall it was super peaceful the water was cold when we went but not terrible if you want a refreshing dip. It was very clean and taken care of where we went. I definitely recommend checking it out if you want to.

After boarding; a safety briefing; and lunch, we head off to Lan Ha Bay (at the south of the Halong Bay maritime national park area), where we visit the “Dark and Bright Cave” via local bamboo boat. Must admit though … as caves go, I have seen better.

Best experience ever in Vietnam! Our tour guide, Tony, was incredibly kind. The food was absolutely delicious, and we made so many new friends from Europe. After dinner, we had a fun karaoke party, tried squid fishing, and even learned how to make spring rolls. The highlight of the trip was definitely kayaking—the area was peaceful and less crowded. Lots of construction on main beach - no access to beach and a sky full of cranes….id give this place a miss till they finish the work over the next 5 years. We stayed long enough to do a bay day tour (excellent) but the vibe on the main drag sort of ruined it we left a day early

I excepted more, but Cat Ba island is not really what I thought. Everything in the main island is quite basic, constructions, overpriced restaurants, not good quality seafood (some still nice but not all),… Only thing I can enjoy more is going to see the sea with the boat tour: nice sea with sunny light, you can take nice pictures and can go swimming there too, visit some caves bypass,… Think 3 days is enough to visit there.

Beautiful island but massive construction projects, lack of infrastructure general confusion makes it not worth visiting right now Insanely noisy do to huge construction project larger than the existing city. Every cruise or tour I scheduled got cancelled (4 in a row) so unless you’re planning on just eating, drinking and listening to jackhammers all day probably avoid it for now.

I really like this place very beautiful and peaceful, on the main island of Cat Ba there is a small town, but quite modern. People here live by seafaring and tourism, they are trying to catch up with the hustle and bustle of tourists from outside arriving on the island. However, the service here is not always good, when experiencing the restaurant here you should pay the price before ordering.

A picturesque place. Peaceful calm, ideally for both couples and family. Best part is it is also very budget friendly. You can spend a week in less than 500 dollars for a couple while staying in good hotels and good food

Good people, very friendly and helpful. In the morning there is not often someone at the desk as they are preparing food for breakfast. You have different options for breakfast. 4 egg options and 1 pancake option. Due to some problems we decided to stay longer and that was no problem. Our laundry didn't feel properly done though as it felt like a lot of softener was used but no stains were really removed. Other downside was that the elevator didn't work for 2 times/days. But there was construction going on next door so I think that was the problem. All in all good nice hotel.

Rather overpriced. Photos look much better. This is a very basic room worth 10$ not 20$+ We saw they used to have a great breakfast... But reading the other reviews they have changed it after Covid. It was a disaster. We decided to skip the breakfast the following days. They send you to the neighbour hotel. It is the most horrible buffet we had in Vietnam. Consisting of just some toast and awful soup. Owner seems to do some drill where he offers to help whenever we need, but this all seems fake.

This is such a nice little hotel. My wife and I stayed four nights in a double room with very spacious beds and everything was super clean. The breakfast was nice. The cheese and ham omelette can be recommended. The people who run the hotel are also really sweet. They helped us rent a scooter and extend our stay with two more nights. This place is such good value. The only downside is that the rooms are not that well sound isolated within the building, but it does a pretty good job keeping the noise from outside away. And the hotel is nicely located a bit away from the main street.

Stayed here for three nights in a private room. The location was really good and the staff were mostly helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean, no complaints at all there. Price was very decent. The negatives for me was that the hotel lacked a bit of personality, which is why I don't give it the highest grade. This is maybe something that not every traveler seeks, but personally I enjoy a hotel with charisma and a good vibe, and here it was a little bit stale unfortunately.

Amazing quality for a great price. Been traveling Southeast Asia for two months now and this is one of the more memorable hotels. Good location. Very clean. Quiet. Huge beds. Delicious breakfast. I came with my friend for her bday and the staff helped me arrange to put a birthday cake and champagne in her room (which I paid a little extra for) but then they also got her a beautiful bouquet of flowers which made the room smell so good.

Ba Be is a surprisingly low key tourist destination, a picture perfect mountain lake surrounded by gorgeous scenery. The main accommodation options are simple homestays in a small hilltribe village. It's a lovely place, but sadly, while the lake is nice to look at, there's not much to do, really. Boat trips are more geared towards domestic tour groups and quite pricey, and I didn't find any suitable place for a nice swim anywhere around.

Beautiful place , accommodation is pretty standard and not too many options, but still on the to do list if you are traveling north Vietnam

Ba Bè lake is an autentic place in the north of Vietnam, nothing turistic at all! It's pretty wild there...and that makes this place even more beautiful! We stayed in a homestay in the middle of nowhere, so unreal! I have so many beautiful memories there...

Ba Be national park is huge natural reserve in North Vietnam. We were told it is more than 23000 hectares in size. One of the highlight is the Ba Be lake which is a natural lake amidst limestone cliffs. There are also few beautiful caves and waterfalls. So refreshing to go on a long boat ride on the lake. There are lot of trekking trails around Ba Be lake and these are a must do. There are also bicycle tours to go around the lake. The road is pretty good and hardly there is traffic. Visit the Ba Be tourism centre at the entrance of the national park to get more details.

Beautiful and peaceful piece of land in Northern Vietnam. Definitely one of the must sees while visiting this part of the country. Boat trip on the lake is a must and is one of the highlights of what you can do here besides kayaking, trekking or simply laying back and enjoying the nature. Multiple and welcoming homestays to choose from which will only elevate the experience higher.

Beautiful scenery. It's stunning to ride the boat on Ba Be lake, especially when you going through the cave. It's worth for a visit to this beautiful place.
