Victoria Park is a picturesque 1000-acre park in Truro, Nova Scotia. It offers an extensive trail system, picnic areas, and beautiful waterfalls. The park is a popular destination for outdoor activities and sightseeing in the region. Visitors can explore the scenic grounds at Province House National Historic Site before strolling through the pedestrian-only Victoria Row and heading to seaside Victoria Park. Nearby attractions include Anne of Green Gables Store and Anne of Green Gables Chocolates on Queen Street.
Victoria Park has always been a beautiful place to visit, and being open to the public year round you can't go wrong regardless of what season we are in. We visited a couple of weeks ago after a fresh snowfall, it was quiet and quite the sight covered in a blanket of snow. Though be careful, the trails aren't maintained during the winter season and it can be quite icy on the upper paths in comparison to the lower ones. *Parts of the trail have been damaged by a recent storm and are no longer accessible until they have been repaired. These sections are blocked off with signage and become obvious as you approach with massive pieces of the trail crumbling down the cliffside or the trail suddenly becoming blocked off by massive trees that have uprooted and toppled over onto one another.

A very large park with a reservoir in the middle. Lots of hiking and cycling trails. There are benches here to sit, but they are not as often as it would like. There are several interesting points, but by the time you get to them you will get tired, so this park is more about active recreation or just walking around to relax from the city. Overall, a very nice place... Both my wife and I agreed that we can endlessly make photos(me) and paint(she) pictures because it has a lot of interesting "small nature spots". Definitely worth a visit. We spent half a day in this park. And there is free parking at the entrance to the park.
Alexandr O — Google review
Victoria Park is a true gem in Truro! The massive park has trails that take hikers up to the top where the waterfall is situated through a very long Jacob’s Ladder. We were lucky to visit during the fall foliage although the waterfall only had a small stream at this time. There is also a kids playground and ball diamond at the base of the park. As well as a large outdoor pool that was closed after the summer season.

Victoria Park is a hidden gem! This beautiful park offers a range of amenities, including a playground, music stage, and ample car parking. The stunning hill and trees create a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to unwind and connect with nature. And to make it even better, they offered free burgers and soft drinks the day we visited! Highly recommended for a serene escape from the city!

**Great Park with Stunning Features** Victoria Park is a fantastic destination for families and outdoor enthusiasts. It boasts a large playground and a designated barbecue area, making it ideal for picnics and gatherings. The park features an extensive trail path perfect for hiking, offering breathtaking views of the amazing waterfront. Whether you're looking to enjoy a day out with the kids or take in the natural beauty, Victoria Park has something for everyone.
Omezine T — Google review
Beautiful park with loads and loads of different trails to walk. Some on hard ground, some on dirt, and some on timber walkways. Also some lovely little waterfalls with pools you can take a dip in. The grounds were beautifully maintained. A real hidden gem in the city.
Jon S — Google review
Victoria Park is gorgeous. Beautiful well kept walking paths and lawns. Lots of picnic tables for families or couples. Picnic on the grass in shade along the streams running alongside the walkway. There's a swimming pool. Pickle balls courts, play areas for kids, music bandstand, BBQ area is covered and with screens to keep out the bugs! Oh wait! There's many trails to choose from along with Jacobs Ladder! I dare ya to try it 😁

This is an amazing place for anyone who wants to spend a day admist nature. Although it was very hot almost 28 degrees, we didn't feel it as there were lots of trees and the sunlight hardly reaches the floor. Lots of picnic tables where you can enjoy your food and hear the soothing sound of water flowing and many small water falls. You can also take your stroller upto certain areas. Had a great time exploring it with my kids.

With the highest tides in the world, you can ride the waves as they surge into saltwater rivers—an unforgettable experience! The friendly and knowledgeable staff ensure that your time on the water is not only safe but also incredibly fun.
We had a team building event here. The stuff were extremely helpful and accommodating. They even agreed to do a BBQ after our boat tour. From start to finish, it was easy to communicate with them. They also offered our photographer to ride in another boat to take pictures. It was amazing!

What an awesome experience. Our guide on Sat Jared was new the the river but brought the action anyways. Everything moved along nicely. Mud sliding was unlike anything I have ever done. Thank you to Emitt for all the help.

What a blast! This was the surprise highlight of our trip out east. My daughter and I had such a great time. We had the two friends from New Zealand as our guides, wish I could remember their names at this point it was a month ago today that we went. Highly recommended to add this to your list of things to do and see, and it's one of the best ways to experience the tidal bore. You guys rock! Thank you for the great experience and friendly staff.
Chris G — Google review
10/10 rafting experience with Miles as our guide. He was excellent in explaining the tides and the bore to us, spotting wildlife and guiding us through some massive waves. We went with our teenagers and everyone had a blast. We felt safe and had smiles on our faces the whole time... You just can't see them in pictures because of all the water. Wear your old shoes, rent the GoPro and have so much fun!
Sarah W — Google review
Amazing fun! Some unexpected pluses, like warm water, fish jumping, and feeling the currents meet when the tidal bore came in...kids 8, 11, LOVED it. Guides were super great and really did a splendid job out there keeping us all smiling and catching waves. Thanks for a really joyful experience. Huge highlight of our vacation!!!

I've been out twice in 2019 and also in previous seasons. Always a great time. Highly recommended. Shubenacadie River Runners' guides have been consistently good and all three levels of ride are entertaining. The Super Wild Ride, though, is my favorite.

Confederation Bridge

The Confederation Bridge, the world's largest bridge over icy waters, has connected Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick since 1997. Spanning a length of eight miles, it is an impressive engineering marvel. On the New Brunswick side, visitors can explore the Cape Jourimain National Wildlife Area with its diverse ecosystems and abundant bird species. Travelers have the option to drive across the bridge for a toll fee or take a more economical shuttle to access the park. This 12.
It's a beautiful drive across whether it's day or night !! The sunset is extremely beautiful from the bridge , I had the opportunity to visit the base of the bridge on my ATV , all I can say is look at the pictures!! All from the PEI side of the bridge!!
RocketRob 4 — Google review
so cool to finally cross this amazing engineering marvel. It is the longest bridge in the world that crosses ice-covered water. A very unique 13km drive.
Joe C — Google review
Amazing bridge with the length about 12 kms. to PEI. But I feel the photos that take from the light house will be more beautiful than going on the bridge.
SURAPA K — Google review
The longest bridge we’d ever drove on. What a beautiful bridge, the view from the side is incredible! Stopped in a grabbed some bridge souvenirs at the visitor centre on the PEI side
Monique D — Google review
Felt great after having a look of this beautiful bridge last weekend on our trip to maritimes from toronto. Must visit place once in a lifetime ❤️
Parveer G — Google review
The Confederation Bridge is definitely quite the sight. Standing at 12.9 km, this is the longest bridge in Canada and arguably one of the most scenic as well. I’ve taken both the ferry and the bridge to P.E.I and this is so much more scenic and beautiful. Even on a weekend and with construction on the bridge, it wasn’t that busy at all. Even when traffic got heavy, the views made it worth it. The only reason I docked a star off this review is because of the toll you have to pay on the way out of the island. You pay a $50 toll for a car which is kind of insane. For visitors and tourists it may not be so bad for a one time thing, but from what I understand, even residents of P.E.I have to pay the same $50 toll every time they leave which seems very unfair. All in all, it’s a very scenic way of getting to P.E.I and is a nice experience. Not bad for a once in a lifetime kinda of thing.

First time on the Island PEI ! Definitely recommend it ! The beaches are beautiful, I would recommend going to the provincial park... Cows Ice-cream store ! We went to Fin Folk restaurant, AMAZING 👏 fresh sea food platter and smash burgers ! The view is amazing.. the tide was going out at the time we were there! Saw a crab trying to burrow in the wet sand !

I'am sorry to say I wanted to drive over it but my wife said no way when we got within 500mts. Extraordinary engineering fete , beautiful bridge. $20 return fee. So we ended up driving down to the ferry south of Truro which was a great 75mins. Return cost was $45, had lunch aboard.

Burntcoat Head Park, located in the Bay of Fundy, offers a unique dining experience on the ocean floor during low tide. The event includes a foraging excursion, a seafood lunch, and a guided tour of the park. Guests can enjoy a three-course dinner with local wine and beer pairings while watching the tide come in, followed by a campfire on the tidal flats.
A great place. Both for a picnic, when you can make a place for it during the low tide, and also for a simple walk along the bottom of the Bay. And when the tide is in, it's quite interesting to sit and watch the water and drink coffee. It sounds like something boring, but I was interested in watching how the water gradually reclaims all the cracks and stones on the bottom. It takes a lot of time, so if you choose the right time to visit, you can enjoy both low tide and high tide. There is also a small shop in the lighthouse building, where you can also try cookies and apple cider on the floor above. And look at the surrounding places from the top floor, through the windows of the lighthouse. There is a big parking lot for such a small park here too. The only thing I didn't like was the three speed bumps in front of the park. I jokingly told my wife that this would be a good reason not to come here anymore, so as not to experience this inconvenience again (they are very high).
Alexandr O — Google review
So happy to find this place by chance while on our way to Cape Breton. We spent about 3 hours wandering the place, taking photos and just enjoying the area. When we arrived, it was high tide. About 45 mins later, it was low tide and we were able to walk on the ocean floor. What a great experience! The climb up to the lighthouse was interesting and you will get a 360 view on the place. Definitely worth the stop!
Sandra L — Google review
Mesmerizing place! A stroll in ocean bed is worth alongside of flowerpot in Burnt coat during the low tide. We reached early morning when none was around and the tide was to its lowest. Felt in love with giant red blocks, shades of greens, gave a tranquility, the sounds of waves, birds chirps added flavour. However, the Ocean bed was mildly slippery, any anti slippery footwear's would be great to for use. If you are visiting plan based on tides schedule, helps to enjoy both low and high tide. There is a tap and brush nearby stairs to clean the footwear. Restroom, gift shop and lighthouse are operational between 9am to 5pm.
Mona R — Google review
Incredible views. We checked the tide schedule before we left . We got there at the beginning of the six hour window where you can explore the ocean floor. Saw hermit crabs, sea weed lots of shells and scenery was beautiful. Very muddy in parts watch your step!!
Anne A — Google review
One of the best places to see both high and low tides. Ample parking with clean washrooms (9-5). Has a diaper changing table as well! The viewpoint is 2 minutes away from the parking lot. Better take a boot if you are interested to walk on the ocean floor.
Rashed E — Google review
Beautiful place. Very important to wear proper shoes when going down the stairs. There is water to wash shoes off. Benches to sit and enjoy the view, plaques with explanations and informations. Lighthouse can be entered during certain time and climb up. Big gravel parking lot, with designated RV parking. Washrooms available and a little gazebo to sit and enjoy. Lots of green space to have Picknicks. Dog friendly, just keep on leash and clean up after them. Watch the apple trees. As nice as they are apples are falling and “could” maybe hit your head.
Marie — Google review
This place is a gem! A once in a lifetime experience to explore the ocean floor during low tide. We saw lots of tiny shells, sea snails, barnacles and kelp. The trail to the ocean floor is short and very easy to follow. Tips: check out the official tide schedule on the website and come during low tide, pack food and water, and don’t expect to spend too much time in the lighthouse as there is no air circulation and it’s super hot and stuffy at the top. Also bring water shoes.
Gigi Y — Google review
Beautiful views of the changing tides and Bay of Fundy. Recommend getting there at low or mid-low tide when walking is possible on the rocky sea floor. Take care walking as the tides come into the area quickly and could potentially get stranded or cut off from the main stairs to the water.

Garden
The Bottle Houses and Gardens, located in the Wellington region, are a unique attraction featuring colorful houses made of over 25,000 recycled glass bottles. Since 1980, this eco-friendly project has expanded to include eight buildings such as houses, a tavern, a chapel, and a gift shop. The walls of these structures are crafted from bottles cemented together in beautiful designs that create a stunning display when light shines through them.
The history behind this destination is heartwarming. If you really take your time, enjoy each feature, you will not be disappointed. The love this father had for his family while creating these dream bottle houses is so amazing. And the gardens - incredible. They have also created a special area for people to enjoy a picnic - complete with blankets and life sized versions of board games. We could have stayed here all day, a highlight of our trip to the island.
Angela S — Google review
A fascinating place with beautiful architecture made by locals- and a lovely garden and gift shop. If I lived near by I would come to just sit in the garden and have a picnic, but it was a neat visit to walk through all the buildings: see chapel, several houses, and the old lighthouse too! It was a really neat spot and not too busy for a morning visit. Would come again.
Marsh W — Google review
Absolutely stunning gardens so well maintained. The gardeners deserve a raise. I could sit in those gardens for hours. Now on to the bottle houses. Super creative and you can see the labour of love went into each building, the work would require imminent patience. Each building is super creative. Loved them all. A must see when visiting the Island❤️
Anne S — Google review
This place was so amazing. It was so cool to see all the houses made of bottles, and was just so beautiful. Theres quite a few things to check out. It is a relatively small area and I believe admission is 12$? But it’s so worth it. And it’s beautiful there. I could have spent hours. They also have a gift shop with many cute little trinkets and things. I highly recommend everyone who debates checking it out to do it.
Natalie C — Google review
Very nice set of buildings using just bottles, which is very unique. The fee as of today is 10 dollars for adults and 9 dollars for seniors. Several thousands of bottles are used and they very beautifully used for a very picturesque small buildings. There are three different buildings inside. There's also a miniature lighthouse at the far end. There is also beautiful garden inside the campus. They have "no paws on the ground " policy. So you need to carry your pets inside. They also have strollers. This place is at the western end of the island so expect to drive around an hour and half from the bridge or downtown. But definitely worth a visit to this unique place
Rengesh K — Google review
Absolutely beautiful gardens and fun bottle house walk through. The only thing missing was some tea and tasty treats. It is $10 to explore the gardens and bottle houses and there is a well curated gift shop at the entrance.
C B — Google review
The Bottle Houses were amazing! We didn’t have this place on our list, but it showed up on the map while we were visiting Cape Egmont Lighthouse. We enjoyed it so much, it was raining, but that made it even more special as we walked around with our umbrellas. We highly recommend this stop! I also found a pair of beautiful earrings in the shop that I brought home with me. The gardens are gorgeous, and the houses themselves are truly beautiful.
Julieta C — Google review
This place is super cool, even if it's a bit out of the way, depending on where you're staying on PEI it's definitely not near most of the other attractions you're looking to see. Also go see it right away. There is a real estate sign out in front of it, which means they're selling it. It might not even be a thing in a year or so so get out there. Take a look. It's cool. I wish that they would put big allergen lights on the inside of each one of these structures and light them up at night cuz it's that would just be so cool looking from the outside. And if they like put up some barbecues somewhere in the property where people could rent out and tent out while they grilled and after the sun went down these structures would be all luminous and that would be so awesome and totally worth $140 booking. Just saying

Joggins Fossil Cliffs & Centre, located on the western coast of Nova Scotia, offers guided tours of its dramatic coastal cliffs and coal faces embedded with fossilized trees and marine life. The site spans 15 kilometers of coastal cliffs, showcasing rock layers that reveal a complete fossil record of life on earth 300 million years ago during the Coal Age. These cliffs also bear witness to the lush forests and tropical vegetation that once covered the area, contributing to the formation of coal deposits.
What a fantastic place to explore!! I loved the guided tour, would highly recommend you book at least the 30 minute one to learn what to look for and some of the science/History behind the cliffs. You are not permitted to take fossils from the beach, but that means you can find fantastic stuff each time you come. There are some stairs to get to and from the beach, but I was able to manage fine with a cane. Great experience for all ages!
Kaitlyn M — Google review
A really unique opportunity to see some plant fossils with varying price and experience options. For the simplest experience, you just arrive and walk out onto the shore where all the fossils from the eroding cliff face are. Unless you know your plant fossils and what to look for you probably won't get too much out of it though. The second option is to pay to enter the small museum in the visitor center. It will give you what you need and some more background information on things you won't see here but will put things into a timeline context. The third option is to pay just a little or a lot more for a 30 min basic or a lot more for the 90 min version. We did the 90 min. but think we would have been happy with the shorter one. After being armed with some knowledge on what to look for it was a lot easier to understand what we were looking at and finding fossils. Nice museum area (included with the tours). You don't need anything more than running shoes unless you intentionally want to get muddy. Plenty of parking.
Cory S — Google review
Watch the tide schedule. You want to see this gasping view when the tide is out. Beautiful museum education center, small cafe, gift shop (bought some stone bracelets ie rose quartz) bags to fill with gemstones, picnic areas, huge staircase to get to the Rock beach. ... I counted over 70 stairs. Best to wear secure footwear... sandals might not be the best option.. so many interesting rocks. ... please note rocks are not to be removed from this area. Great history lessons, magnifying glasses to look more closely at fossils great for kids of all ages curiosity. Tours are available for that personal experience. And friendly staff! It's a long way to get to but this place is beautiful.

My family had a great adventure at Joggins Fossil Cliffs & Centre. Staff were awesome upon arrival. It was clean and everything was explained perfectly. Really cool to see the tide go down and explore the beach for rocks and fossils. When we left by car an added bonus occurred. We saw a bunch of foxes. Really cool!
Mark D — Google review
A tricky place to visit as a tourist due to the varying low tide. Unfortunately, low tide when I visited was outside of the centre hours, but if you can book a tour, I would recommend it. In case you can’t discover anything yourself, there are some fossils near the staircase and it’s free to explore the beach.
Ash S — Google review
This is a special little place which gives a look into history and geology right in your hand. The museum is small and well put together. Couple the museum with the tour and I felt you got a great personal experience first hand with the earth's history. While you're not actually discovering any new fossils but finding one's which have been scattered (previously fallen, found, replaced and found again, rinse-repeat) across the beach from portions of the beachfront wall stratum, which is a geological research area. The tour guide was a student doing what seemed to be an internship so she was knowledgeable enough to present and answer questions during the tour. It reminded me of panning for gold in the western United States when I was younger but a notch better.

The Joggins Fossil Museum is a truly wonderful place to visit! It has so much to offer for anyone interested in history, science, or simply exploring something unique. You get to immerse yourself in the fascinating story of fossils and discover how they have shaped our understanding of evolution. The exhibits are engaging and informative, making it a perfect experience for both adults and children. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

I visited joggins after taking a plant diversity course where the instructor brought up the cliffs. I knew I wanted to visit some day and I did. I had such a great time and loved being able to recall what I learned in Uni. My husband never studied into it and he also had a great time and was very excited to find fossils and listen to me blab about them. A great experience for all ages. Will definitely visit again.

Cape Split Trailhead

Hiking Trails
Cape Split Trailhead is a popular spot for hikers, offering a 16-kilometer trail with stunning views of the Bay of Fundy and the Spires rock formations. The area is being transformed into a Provincial Park, providing ample parking for visitors. Hikers can choose between the moderate Cape Split trail or the more challenging Amethyst Cove trail, which features steep climbs and rope assistance.
My fiancé and I have done this hike 5 or 6 six times by now. Although we do this hike seasonally, we still find it to be a moderate to hard difficulty. Our best time for finishing the hike is 3 hours and 45 min. But we have stayed on the trail for up to 6 hours on a nice summer's day. We've visited when it was foggy, and we've visited when it was so windy at the cape you couldn't hear each other speak (that was our most recent time). The trail can be muddy, and very slippery after the rain (I twisted my ankle on the most recent trip), so keep that in mind. Our advise? Bring snacks, water, and comfortable, appropriate shoes. There's a few spots where you'll have to cross over a small stream - so waterproof shoes/boots are a good idea. Give yourself anywhere between 4-6 hours to finish the hike, we'd recommend to start early in the day (the trail can get very busy). Plan to spend some time at the Cape - it can be a lovely spot for a picnic. But don't litter! There's only garbage bins at the start/end of the trail in the parking lot - so pack it up and pack it out. Check the weather/wind before you go, and remember it can change in the blink of an eye. The loop has two sides one is 6k and the other is 7.3k from the Cape to the parking lot. We'd recommend the 6k side.

Even though it was foggy and we missed the iconic view at the top, the hike itself was fantastic! Well-marked trails, beautiful forest scenery, and a steady, enjoyable challenge throughout. Definitely worth it—even without the view. Can’t wait to come back on a clear day! We spent 5 hours all together including taking time to take pictures and laying down (10-20 mins) at the cape split lookoff. Washrooms are available at the start point. They were clean.

Fantastic spot to view the Bay of Fundy. The full loop is about 15km in total and I recommend starting from Minas Basin side and finishing down through Scot Bays. Along the trail, you will see a wide variety of plants, and the trees form a beautiful canopy that provides a plenty of shade. While the trail isn’t very steep, the distance can be challenging for beginners. Make sure to bring enough water for the hike.
Shuai F — Google review
What an awesome trail with a big treat at the end. To be honest the trail itself is easy but it's a long hike. Running shoes are fine. It's not particularly interesting and there is only one exciting lookout at Lobster Cove. HOWEVER, when you get to the end, it will be one of the most unique and thrilling spots you will find yourself in. You are elevated above the water and there are so many places and different angles to see the rock pillars. You can't really see down the cliff face because it is so steep and the edge is not clear, so quite dangerous. Take a picnic or some snacks at least and definitely a drink. Lots of spots to soak it all in. We did the clockwise loop and we are glad we did, although not too much difference between the two out and back trails.
Cory S — Google review
This is a beautiful place! But the trail was very difficult because it was very long. We walked all 15 km, spending 5 hours on it. I do not recommend taking children with you. Everyone who took children could not walk the entire route.
Maria K — Google review
It's a bit of a challenging hike, fairly steep in places. You can hike, bike or run the trail. There are some look offs on the loop around the trail. Spectacular view at the top of the Bay of Fundy
Kirk G — Google review
Nice trail to hike. It wasn't too difficult. We did the out and back route. Beautiful scenery. Next time we will try for a low tide view.
Kay ( — Google review
Lovely trail not far from the Annapolis Valley. Trail had a few small hills near the beginning but for the most part was gentle, flat, and wide enough to walk 2-abreast. There are 2 trial options if you want to walk back a different trail. Scots Bay Trail is a little longer and Minas Basin Trail is a little shorter. The trailhead sign advertises the 6+ km hike (one way) as about 2h10 but we did it in about 1h20 going in and 1h10 back walking at a good pace. If you take your time and spend a few minutes at each of the mini look offs along the way it’ll be closer to the posted time. Parking lot has plenty of spaces but it does fill up as the day goes on. There’s 2 outhouses at the beginning of the trail and then 2 more around the 2km mark, then nothing else so plan accordingly.

The Giant Lobster in Shediac, Atlantic Canada, is a must-see landmark and a popular attraction for visitors. Located at 229 Main Street, this large sculpture symbolizes Shediac as the 'Lobster Capital of the World.' As the world's largest lobster sculpture, it attracts around 300,000 visitors annually. Tourists can enjoy taking selfies with this realistic and detailed sculpture, which now has steps for easier access to its top.
Our adventure to the Giant Lobster! (Currently under construction at the time of posting). We were able to snap pictures and see this giant beauty of a lobster statue! There are also a few tiny gift shops in the area! Pictures are posted below of the items they are selling. There are many handcrafted and hand made items at the shops. There is also an information center about the area that also holds tours. There is a little mini lobster exhibit on property for a small ticket fee (we did not do this activity)

We made a quick photo stop at the Giant Lobster and it was pure road-trip fun. Easy parking, a short stroll, and then—boom—those massive claws! We took all the goofy perspective shots, learned a bit about local lobster culture from the signs, and soaked up the small-town charm around the site. It’s a fast, kid-friendly detour that delivers big smiles and a few frame-worthy photos. Worth the stop—five minutes turns into fifteen in the best way.
Jianshu C — Google review
Fun place to take a few pics. The shops are nice too. Just wish people were more respectful and not spend so much time hogging the venue. People should snap a few pics then let others do the same. Has been a bit of a trend during this vacation.

Great little stop on your way to PEI... who wouldn't want to see a huge lobster monument that you and the kids can climb for a photo! Fun times!
Mairead H — Google review
lol, it may seem corny to some, but we always stop for pictures any time we visit the area. It was early autumn so the little shops were closed for the season, but we loved that the lobster wore a purple Halloween hat!! 😁
Darlene M — Google review
I wanted to sit in the garden near the giant lobster and read my book the entire night. But, I had to go enjoy scenes from the lake side and then the beautiful pre-sunset aura.

This is a must see attraction ! The area also has cute little shops and a visitor centre. Good parking.
Juliette B — Google review
The gift shops had cute locally made items that made great souvenirs. People were having full on photo shoots at the lobster so it took a long time to snap a couple pictures without a random stranger in the photo. The snack bar/store is way over priced! $6 for a small bottle of Gatorade is robbery.

Park
Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park, located near the Bay of Fundy, boasts unique rock formations shaped by tidal erosion over thousands of years. Known as 'Flowerpot Rocks' due to their rounded appearance and vegetation cover, they serve as a reference for the world's highest tides. Visitors can explore beautiful trails both on and above the ocean floor while learning about tides, geology, fossils, native legends, history, and wildlife such as peregrine falcons and seals.
Beautiful place to visit. Walked down the trail to see the high tide, returned later and took a shuttle down so we could walk on the ocean floor at low tide. Great value price wise, one ticket allows you to come and go for 24 hours, so you could go back and see both high and low tides. Has a great gift shop. Plenty of parking for all sizes of vehicles. Eady to find and a beautiful drive to get there.
Michele G — Google review
Visiting Hopewell Rocks was an unforgettable experience, possibly my favorite in a long time. We were incredibly fortunate to spot a bull moose during low tide, an event that almost never occurs. It was a truly special and unexpected moment. The staff on site were exceptional, highly organized and attentive. They ensured everyone’s safety by guiding us from the beach back to the stairs as the moose came closer to shore. Witnessing both the low and high tides was absolutely breathtaking. The natural beauty here is indescribable, a must-see experience!
Kat — Google review
My wife and I visited Hopewell Rocks, and it turned out to be one of the most fascinating places we’ve seen. Watching the dramatic transformation between high and low tide was simply incredible — at low tide, we walked right on the ocean floor among the famous “flowerpot” rock formations, and just a few hours later, those same rocks were surrounded by water, standing like islands. It’s amazing how powerful the Bay of Fundy tides are — they’re actually among the highest in the world, rising and falling up to 14 meters each day. The place is well set up for visitors, with ample parking and a ticketed entry system. Tickets are valid for two consecutive days, which is great because it lets you experience both tides without rushing. The walk to the rocks takes about 15 minutes along a scenic trail, but there’s also a paid shuttle if you’d rather not hike. We found the whole setup very organized and easy to navigate. Before you go, it’s worth checking the official website for tide timings so you can plan your visit around them. They also offer free guided tours, which are really informative and help you appreciate the geology and history behind these beautiful formations. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here — it’s one of those rare natural wonders that truly lives up to the hype.

This place looks like it's straight out of another world! The scenery is so incredibly unique and just breathtaking. It's definitely a prime spot for snapping some amazing photos. As you learn the history, you can really feel the history all around you here. The sheer beauty of the landscape is something else. Plus, it offers a nice little cardio workout as you explore. I could wander around here for ages just taking it all in. It’s a truly remarkable and memorable experience.
Cee J — Google review
Beautiful visit - we came over 2 days once to see the tide up and once to walk on the ocean floor. My 3 year old really enjoyed the park slides and the ride down to the rocks on the cart (it's $2 each way per adult and free for him). It felt like a safari to him! The little museum is really nice! Very informative. Gift shop is cute but I found that when we went it was not stocked properly (off season). They only had a weird night version magnet of Hopewell rocks. The little kid's DIY boxes on sale ended up having completely dried out paint. I would say the price is a bit much for what you get.
Saman A — Google review
The absolute best part of visiting is witnessing the dramatic difference between high and low tide. At low tide, you can walk on the exposed ocean floor and stand beneath the massive, tree-topped "flowerpot" rock formations, a rare and surreal experience. Just a few hours later, these same areas are submerged under as much as 40 to 50 feet of water. Amazing!
Jeannie D — Google review
Great place to view nature at work carving the rocks on a daily basis with phenomenal tides. Super visitor centre with a restaurant and displays explaining the geography of the place. Plenty of staff around to guide you and answer any questions. Enjoyable walk to the various viewing points or the beach itself. The track is steep in places. There's also a shuttle you can take from the arrival point to the top of the beach area: $2 CAN per person per one way trip. Lots of steps to get down to the beach but there's also a wheelchair access route marked out(didn't try it). Tip: You dont have to wait the full 6 hours between tides. We saw high tide at about 930 in the morning and were able to stand on part of the beach by 1300. You'll need to wait a bit longer if you want access to the beach trail around the shoreline.
Andy S — Google review
We loved Hopewell Rocks. Staying overnight nearby to see both high and low tide was absolutely worth it. The trails are beautiful, the hike is enjoyable, and the shuttle makes it easy to explore. Good coffee, a great gift shop, and a nice little museum made the visit even better. The people are so friendly and knowledgeable, which really added to the experience.

Thanks to the lovely Evelyn at the gift shop we had an amazing time! She is passionate about her work and she took the time to share with us her amazing geological knowledge! Beautiful spot. Views from the lighthouse are spectacular. We walked down along the beach as it was low tide. We were shocked at how much it cost to come for a short time. Very few people were there when we were.

What a beautiful experience. Because of health issues, I'm trying to do things I would never do before it's too late. Zip lining is one of them because of fear of heights. If it wasn't for the staff at each station from paying...suiting me up....and at the top of the platform encouraging me n my friend....we both would have backed out half way up the stairs ...but at each station , the workers made you feel like you could do it. Zip Lining.....check!

You can get a beautiful view of the landscape depending on the time of day and weather permitting. The fresh beer battered haddock with tartar sauce and the french fries made by the chef Heather were second to none. The fossils at display in the restaurant were quite cool.

Came to a concert on June 10 and buffet was closed. Very disappointed to say the least. Website advertising seafood summer, Tuesdays and Wednesdays only to find out the buffet is not open Sundays through Tuesdays. Website is confusing regarding the buffet hours but clearly states this on facebook, which I wouldn’t think to check. The wait for food was long, I ordered a burger which isn’t what I wanted. We were trying to make a night of this by staying at the casino. There were other patrons who were also not happy about the buffet not being open. I’m still unsure where the mussels are as they aren’t advertised on the menu I. The restaurant.

Pat, my lovely wife and I, live not far from this fabulous casino. We first visited this establishment just after the height of COVID back in 2021. Restrictions were still in place. Gambling tables were not open. Buffet was still closed down and attendance was low. Shows were still not taking place. Some time later, Pat and I have been delighted to have attended one of the first showings, since COVID restrictions, in their large stage area (Buddy Holly tribute). Seats were not packed since many people were still playing it safe and staying home. The shows venue and performance was fantastic. We've both enjoyed a few meals in the casino's small restaurant within the casino's main floor area next to the many gambling machines. We have also been to their large buffet area for at least one of each of the afternoons they are open. Each night open there is a different special and selection (repeats every week). We strongly recommend obtaining their membership card, if of age, for meal savings at every visit (cost nothing). Be careful, it's very easy to gain weight at their buffet. So many items to choose from and we've yet to find something we didn't like. Meals are delicious and I always have trouble leaving room for dessert, but I do manage. Even with their desserts, the choices are many. We've learnt that if one needs a dessert without sugar, just ask one of the attendants and they will happily bring an item out from behind their separation wall. This is but another place Pat and I enjoy being able to treat ourselves to once in a while, here in Moncton, NB. Neither of us are big gamblers but we do enjoy meandering through the Gambling area on our way out (buffet is at the far end of the casino floor). Pat and I have brought loved ones to this place more than once and will continue doing so in future, God willing. Since we live so close to this casino, renting a room has never been a consideration but, from what we've seen, we're sure they're well kept. Both of us have enjoyed walking their main hotel corridor which displays past celebrities that have performed and stayed at this fine casino/hotel. We have also driven along their back parking lot to check out the many different campers using their lot for temporary parking. Very nice layout and compassionate of the owners to allow campers with limited parking. My only complaint, during the many times we've eaten at the casinos buffet, has been with their corn in the cob. We love 🌽 but each time, it has been inedible to us. Far too mushy, like they've been soaking in water for hours. Not a huge drawback since there's so much to chose from at their buffet but disappointing. New thus year (2025) is their Wednesday Chinese buffet. Excellent choices to choose from. Both Pat and I found this buffet a delightful addition to their varied buffets on other days.

We had a great experience at Casino New Brunswick in Moncton! The buffet was excellent — lots of fresh, tasty options and something for everyone. The live band added a fun, upbeat vibe to the evening, and there’s a huge variety of slot machines to choose from, so you’re never bored. The atmosphere was lively but welcoming, and it’s easy to see why this spot is so popular. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Worst service EVER!! I still have my menu open at the table. My previous table I waited 10-15 if anything was ok. I asked for my bill, that was the fastest she ever was throughout my service here. Now sitting with friends and yet to be served... waited 10 minutes for 1 server to acknowledge us. Too many empty tables for a Friday evening.
Stefanie C — Google review
Went for the surf and turf buffet in moncton, all I can say is "WOW" amazing food for a fair price. Me and my husband couldn't get enough of the crab legs, steak (cooked how you like) side dishes and salads. There was absolutely no room for any of the many desserts. Just wish it was a regular meal. Suggestion: if they serve surf and turf again I suggest you line up around 3:15pm, by 4pm the line for the buffet was heading for the main entry doors of the casino following the wall of the slot machines.

From Amur tigers and lions to zebras, Gibbon apes, lemurs, and more, visitors can explore diverse habitats designed for the comfort of the animals.
This is a great little zoo. It had a wide variety of wildlife in nice enclosures. It was the first zoo where we could easily see TWO black Panthers playing and interacting with each other. It was just the right size where you can see everything in a day.

Magnetic Hill Zoo is a fantastic destination for families and visitors of all ages. The variety of animals from Africa, Asia, and North America makes the experience both educational and enjoyable. The grounds are well-organized, and maps provided throughout the zoo make it easy to navigate. Advance ticketing is very convenient, helping to avoid long wait times during busy seasons. Parking is readily available and accessible, adding to the overall ease of visiting. My kids truly enjoyed our visit, especially seeing the animals up close, which made the day even more memorable. The zoo is well-maintained, with clean facilities, friendly staff, and enclosures that show great care for the animals. A highly recommended place for both learning and leisure.

This was an excellent zoo trip with a 3 year old! The animals are neat! Wish that the animals who were not there (tiger, red fox, seals) would have a sign up explaining where they are. I wish there were some guides because only at the lion area was a guide talking about them while feeding him. The male lion was roaring in what seemed like pain from arthritis. We appreciated the cart for $8 that allowed us to wheel the toddler around but strollers are allowed too (we just didn't have ours). The park is fun too The beaver tail place was closed The bathrooms were clean and nice The lady at the store closed up early (by 15 min) and when we came out to go to the washroom she refused to let us know and nor was she wanting us to step right back into the zoo to go to the washroom. If your place is supposed to remain open to 5pm, we expect to be able to go in the store until 5pm.

A clean, well-kept zoo with healthy and active animals. The layout is easy to follow, and the enclosures are spacious and well-designed. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. I went to the zoo with my brother and his son. It is a great place if you want to get out for a family fun. Halfway through there is a park that your able to sit at and watch the kids play, plus they have bathrooms and a little snack area that you can also buy food and drinks at. The only problem that we ran into is we wanted a cart to push nephew around. But out of all the carts that they had most of them are broken. So we had to pick the best one, it's just a shame. That you pay eight dollars and they can't fix them up. All and all the zoo was a great time we stay until closing.

We absolutely love the zoo. The grounds were so clean and tidy. Fundy National Park of Canada, located along the southern coast of the Bay of Fundy, is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The park boasts an extensive trail system with stunning coastal views and showcases the Acadian forest. Visitors can explore a range of trails, from easy to challenging, including the epic 11-kilometer Goose River Trail with its dramatic landscapes and river valley views.
A trip to the Bay of Fundy wouldn’t be worth it if you didn’t camp at Fundy National Park. Visit the village of Alma and pick up some clams and lobster and relax at your campsite before heading out to Hopewell Rocks and walk around these amazing structures eroded by the sea. Check out the tide timetable. Great campground.

Wonderful campground. Spacious sites, with electric, water and dumping on the spot. Access to coastal trail, and a jewel of a golf course steps away. Great views over the bay from picnic area. The campground is very near the charming fishing town of Alma, where you can see the famously high tides lifting fishing boats out of the mud.

This is a place where you want to visit and spend lots of time enjoying the nature at its best. For us it was a short and quick tour due to time constraints. We did the Dickson fall hike with kids and enjoyed the hike. Information shared enroute about the surrounding made this small hike more memorable. Will be planning for a longer trip to explore more.

Amazing hikes and trails, as well as appropriate facilities in the campgrounds. The tides are high and beach exploration at low tide is a must at point Wolfe. Big spruce trees and right beside Alma, a cute little tourist area. The appeal is the undeveloped, low population factor.

We did the Lavarty-Moosehorn trail loop at the Fundy National Park. The fall colours were great and the rivers were energetic with fast flowing water into the Bay of Fundy. We did get lost many times throughout the trail though, better signage is needed.

Absolutely breathtaking place. Tons of stuff to do, and so little time. I'm thankful we live just an hour from this provincial park. We are very excited to take a few more trips here to really take in the natural beauty that is the Bay of Fundy. Our first stop was the Hopewell Rocks. Entry was I believe $39 for a family pass which included 2 adults and a few kids. Individual adult passes were $9. We opted to walk down to the ocean floor as that was the whole reason for going here... To enjoy the views and nature. If you choose to take the shuttle it is $2 a person and takes you right to the staircase. There are 100+ steps down and back up of course. Not a big deal but consider this if you're not 100% mobile. Prices of drinks inside the shop are about $3.00 for a bottled pop. I'm unsure about food... I'm sure it follows that trend as well. If you're going here for a visit but dislike crowds, consider going during the week while kids are in school. The playground was a good reward for the kids once they climbed all the steps and back to the top. There are various games for them to play. I love the addition of dog bowls filled with water for your furry friends. If you get muddy while walking around the ocean floor -- don't fret, you can rinse off your feet and shoes after climbing back up the stairs. We stopped at the salt water pool for an afternoon swim. The pool was heated and had a shallow end as well as a deep end over 11 feet deep. Diving board for the kids and lifejackets available if need be. The lifeguards didn't seem very pushy so it was easy to enjoy our time there.

St. Martins Sea Caves

Scenic spot
Nature & Parks
St Martins Sea Caves, located in the picturesque town of St Martins, are a natural wonder shaped by the powerful tides of the Bay of Fundy. These sandstone caves were formed over 250 million years ago and can be accessed via trails during low tide. The red sandstone layers and conglomerate stones create a stunning visual display, with the caves partially submerged at high tide.
A Natural Wonder You Can Walk Through! The St. Martins Sea Caves are absolutely mesmerizing! It’s amazing to see how the tides reveal these majestic caves and let you walk right into them during low tide. The red cliffs, unique rock formations, and the powerful Bay of Fundy tides make this spot truly special. It’s a perfect blend of adventure, natural beauty, and coastal charm. Don’t forget to check the tide schedule—walking on the ocean floor is an experience you won’t forget!
Tiljo A — Google review
Cute little stop when the tide is fully out along the Bay of Fundy. Beach is full of smooth rocks and there is a couple little souvenir shops and a little restaurant near by. Not the most exciting place to spend a day at the beach but very dog friendly and there is a bathroom at the little restaurant!
Amanda M — Google review
Taking the slow road from Saint Andrews to Moncton is a journey worth savouring, full of detours that reveal incredible scenery, pockets of nature, and New Brunswick’s rugged coastal beauty. One such stop is the Sea Caves in St. Martins. Shaped by the tides, these natural wonders are best explored when the ocean draws back, allowing you to walk inside and marvel at their scale. When the tide returns, the same spot transforms into a dramatic shoreline, reminding you of the Bay of Fundy’s power and rhythm. It’s a stop that blends awe with a sense of discovery, the kind of place that makes you grateful you chose the slower road.
Marc G — Google review
Such an amazing location and experience. You can't go into the caves and there's only one that's kind of deep. But regardless the whole location is pretty amazing. The rock stratification it's so cool and extends out right to the water's edge to the far left as you look out into the ocean. There's a muddy stream and lots of slippery rocks and seaweed so be careful. Most of the path out to the caves is dry and you can do it in running shoes if you want, but there may be a little stream to cross.
Cory S — Google review
What a scenic and captivating spot! I would say because of water levels it's best to go in the early afternoon (around 2-3) otherwise the water is too high to get into the caves. Even at that time you will have to whip out your long jump skills! It's completely worth it though- the insides of the caves are almost other worldly! Pictures don't do it justice!
Jodie-Lynn M — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place. Make sure you go at low tide to get the full experience. The restaurant there is delicious, and there's a little souvenir shop too.
Kaitlyn M — Google review
It was worth the stop! You can’t go inside the largest cage anymore but it was still really cool at low tide to walk around the point to more sea caves. We also saw a bald eagle.
Colin B — Google review
We visited the area over a couple of days. We were there for low tide on the weekend and high tide during the week in relation to my photos. We took a kayak adventure to view the sea caves on the water, and we took a hike above (there's a little turn off to the right going up the hill on the road that has a brown gate, if you go in there and park, you can access the trails above the sea caves) and below the sea caves to get a view from every angle. Recommend checking out the area. There are many little gift shops up and down the road and a nice family restaurant right on the beach area looking out to the sea caves. It's worth the trip! Bring a sweater for windy days and a hat for the sun! Also, bring proper footwear to walk in since you'll be walking across stones! :).

Unique place in the heart of the city with multiple vendors offering unique, traditional, and local merchandise as well as several world cuisine spots to try something new. Place is connected with other Downtown buildings via covered walkways and close to a city park.

I loved this place. There are so many vendors. Some vendors sell basic souvenirs for great prices, which is really great. And some vendors sell home made crafts. I love getting authentic souvenirs that represent the land I'm visiting. If you visit the Saint John City Market, you must get something from Beverly Reid at her Hampton Creators kiosk inside the market. She makes the most beautiful jewelry from Canadian maple leaves and flowers from her backyard. I got a stunning necklace - crushed up Maple leaves preserved in wine kind of resin, set in silver. And her prices are fantastic.

Nice market. Everything is meticulously laid out. There are fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, and some food from various countries. There are also handcrafted items and souvenirs.

The area is small, and the products sold in some stalls are very attractive. I bought a lobster-shaped bath bomb.

Reversing Falls

Bodies of Water
The Reversing Falls in Saint John, New Brunswick is a must-see attraction known for its tidal rapids on the Saint John River. It is popular for whitewater kayaking and features an observation deck for visitors to enjoy the natural phenomenon. The Bay of Fundy, home to the highest tides in the world, influences the flow of the river. At low tide, visitors can explore sea caves and rock formations along miles of dry land.
The reversing waterfall is fascinating to watch at low tide, when the water is rushing down towards the sea, and at high tide, when the water is going back up the river. I went back twice to see both. Apparently the tide can change the river depth by five metres. Best place to watch is at the Reversing Waterfall Park. Even if you are not there at peak low or high tide it is interesting to see.
John B — Google review
So I'll start by saying if you come at the wrong time, this attraction is probably 2 or 3 stars. If you come at the right time, it's a solid 4 stars (maybe 5 if you add in the marine life). We took a cruise excursion that took us here first thing off the boat, unfortunately nothing was reversing so it was like ok a big body of water and a paper mill. We went about our tour and on the way back to the ship, I guess we had some extra time, so we went back by the falls. This time, it was reversing!! Definitely a very unique thing to see. Keep your eyes open for cute little sea animals (seals, otters, etc).
Shula R — Google review
Just had a quick stop at the Reversing Falls in Saint John and wow—a tidal magic show in action! 🌊 Once every 12 hours, the Bay of Fundy flexes with its monstrous tides and literally reverses the river’s flow—one moment it rushes out to sea, the next it's surging back upstream. It’s kind of like nature doing its own Houdini trick! The pedestrian bridge and lookout platforms offer excellent vantage points—great for selfies. If you time your visit around high or low tide, it’s pure theatre: roaring water, churning whirlpools—you feel the raw Bay of Fundy power firsthand. Locals say it’s subtle, but I found it mesmerizing and totally worth the stop. This small-town gem is a refreshing detour that packs a punch: 5 stars, full stop ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
G D — Google review
In my opinion, the Reversing Falls isn’t all that great or interesting. First and foremost, there aren’t any actual falls to see. Unlike in the name, there aren’t any reversing waterfalls. What is there is a river where the water reverses at specific times in the day. I do not think it worth taking a detour and visiting, but if it’s on your way, it’s not too bad either. It happened to be on my way and the walk down to the river wasn’t long either, but if I had taken a detour to come and see the reversing falls, I’d definitely be more disappointed with what I saw. There is a gift shop available for visitors to grab some merchandise, but it was very limited. Bathrooms were also available on sight - clean and easy to find. All in all, I don’t think I would visit the Reversing Falls again, but you may enjoy just popping by and grabbing lunch at their on site restaurant or something.
Swati P — Google review
This is a strange, and fascinating, tourist attraction. The high tide from the Bay of Fundy actually REVERSE the flow of the Saint John River. We were there during the mid-morning and witnessed the spectacle. Worth a visit.
Dan T — Google review
Public transportation to the site was available when we visited ($3 CDN per person to and from). The bus is the No. 1 (E / W) depending on which direction you're coming from. Ask the bus driver to let you know when to get off (we found the staff very nice). It's after the museum and high school, in a residential area. Walk through the neighborhood and you're there. You must be patient with the bus - I suggest downloading the schedule, so you can maximize your time at the phenomenon. Once there, there is a steeper short cut - look for the power line cables (see the photo) on the left as you come down the street. The shortcut does require the use of STAIRS. If you're in St. John, go see it (I purposefully did not post pictures of the falls). Finally, there is a public restroom in the vicinity. Travel safely.

Neat to see at full tide, walk down to other view points we came up to a mom and babies deers - cool

The Bay of Fundy is not a remarkable place. Interesting little town, but with an amazing, very unusual river that actually reverses twice a day and travels about 60 miles inland. Very cool excursion.

The park was established to protect 11 kilometers of shoreline and features six distinct ecosystems, including forests, mud flats, salt marshes, volcanic rock formations, and a sandy beach. Visitors can explore groomed trails and a gravel road for walking, hiking, and biking while enjoying picturesque views of the Fundy coastline.
Irving Nature Park is an amazing park to walk through with breathtaking views of Saint John's shoreline. Perfect relaxing day hiking these trails with plenty of wildlife and peacefulness. Parking is plenty and not overly crowded with tourists or people in general. Bring a light jacket and hat, it can get chilly and windy by the waters.

The combination of pine scented air and briny sea air is salve to the soul. This place is peaceful and quiet. I saw seven deer throughout my two hours there! Hiking trails are well kept and relatively easy. Picnic tables and benches throughout for a rest. I love how you get forest, beach, views of the sea, salt marsh, and rocky terrain all in one place. This park is a gem!

Just a beautiful park! What a great surprise for an unexpected getaway. I drove across the border from Maine for an adventure with my daughter and I sure found one. Trails along the coast are beautiful. Lots of little stops along the way to rest and take great pictures. Many spots for an impromptu picnic and great barbecue spots. I will definitely do it again and again!!

Excellent location just outside the city offers a very welcoming first impression of the area. There are multiple areas, trails and entrances so if you want to see it all, but are somewhat short on time, it's best to plan your routes. If you plan accordingly, you can also see the rise and fall of the tides. 600 acres comprising of a children's park, beach, forests, BBQ pits and picnic tables coupled with various activities throughout the year. It's a nice break from the more industrial feel of the main city area in Saint John.

One of the best maintained parks in St. John and very scenic too. Main gravel road branches out into different circuits with varying lengths and difficulty levels, there's something for everyone. Big parking space at the main gate and smaller parking lots across the nature park so you can stop right next to the trail you want to hike. There are some looking points almost on every trail, overlooking the bay. Great to watch the tide turn. Bbq areas and portable toilets are across the park.

Beautiful trails to walk/bike. Tons of birds, if you take the time to sit still and call to them, they will land on your hand! Beautiful place to go for a walk with friends and/or to be alone and ponder your thoughts. *Great place for rocks and sticks *Parking lot is AWFUL, drive SUPER slow and check your tires before leaving your vehicle after parking to make sure giant sharp rocks aren't indenting your tires. *No garbage

Drove through the loop, stopped at all possible stops. This is a well kept nature reserve. Some of the stops had beautiful views. There are many trails. Was told that when the tide is low, seals can be seen on the rocks. Unfortunately the tide was high when we were there, did not see any seals.

With over 200 local suppliers offering a wide array of products, visitors can explore everything from fresh produce and meats to homemade jams, artisan chocolates, and specialty coffees. The market also features ethnic delicacies like Chinese buns and Lebanese stuffed grape leaves.
Some places accept credit or e transfer but a majority will usually take cash. A majority of food will be $3+ with pastries usually around the $5+ mark. You'll find some crazy food and trinkets here such as an oreo pizza slice, mushroom and brie croissant, caramel pecan cinnamon roll, etc. If you're from the westcoast, they have a donair sandwich to try which is only seen on the eastcoast (same with garlic fingers). I adore this farmers market. I make sure to visit every time I’m in the area. Truly such a great place and vibe. So many vendors of all varieties and truly kind people throughout.
Nyah C — Google review
A solid place to spend a Saturday morning. It’s busy, but that’s part of the appeal—lots of local vendors, fresh produce, baked goods and handmade items. Best to go early—things do sell out and it gets crowded quickly. A true Fredericton staple.
Dr. D — Google review
7am market opens. 7am parking only 3 blocks away. Understand that farmers may need to park close to refill stock, but no need for trucks with empty trailers taking Prime parking away from potential shoppers. Called the market got the ole fashion customer service "I'm so sorry but vendors have to park there. Nothing I can do." I worked in a different farmers market for our family farm. Every vender taking up a prime parking spot or two hurts the whole market. Expect hard to find parking by 10am easy but at 7am should be in and out like a bunny. I won't be giving this market another chance.
Jason S — Google review
I really love going to this market, it’s a staple of Saturday’s mornings/before noon! They have everything from farm produce to actual pizza made in a fire oven and more! It’s the best market so far in my life and was the first! Fredericton was my place when I was a toddler because of some stuff happened in my life and now as an adult, I still love going to Fredericton because of its proximity for stores and restaurants! The inside may need some renovations like Led lights and the parking lots is always full there on Saturdays! I recommend this place! ☺️

Kings Landing in New Brunswick is a living history museum that offers a unique blend of traditional museum exhibits and an immersive historical village experience. Spanning 300 acres, this open-air museum showcases over 70,000 artifacts depicting life in 19th-century New Brunswick. Visitors can interact with costumed actors portraying various roles such as millwrights, carpenters, blacksmiths, and grocers.
An amazing blast to the past with knowledgeable costumed characters who bring the whole experience alive. The houses are all set up amazingly and the blacksmiths shop actually demonstrates how to make various items right in front of your eyes. I highly highly recommend this as a stop if you are nearby.
Random 2 — Google review
Went with our entire family on a family trip. Interested to learn about the history, of note the entire place is a reenactment with actors playing the part. The buildings and life that they portray are very interesting. Some of the older actors are very good, providing lots of history and answering questions. The younger actors staged in the blacksmith shop and who performed the dance really need to be educated on how to act properly especially when portraying a period in history. The blacksmith area was really poorly acted. In addition, we caught the 3 PM barn dance, which was not well orchestrated, laughable at times, with no historical context. The actors appeared to have never practiced this dance before and were very amateur. Most of the audience was just laughing and left promptly not waiting for them to finish. The horse carriage was a major hit among our family, especially with the kids. Staff at the visitor center were excellent, and very enthusiastic, providing lots of guidance. Overall, would recommend as a visitor tourist site, but keep your expectations low and do your research ahead of time.
Maya K — Google review
Lovely historic site that I would definitely recommend. It's a lovely place to go for a long walk, explore the different historic buildings, and speak to the actors. It was a very laid-back environment and I found it quite relaxing. It's more focused on providing an experience of what it was like to live in this earlier period rather than providing structured history (e.g., there's no detailed interpretative centre). I would give yourself plenty of time as it takes a while to walk around to all the buildings, but that's part of the fun and it was very enjoyable. Definitely a very family and kid-friendly site. I look forward to visiting again!

This was my first visit but won't be my last. I used to love going to pioneer village when I lived in Toronto. Seeing the groups of camp kids was amazing as I known first hand these kids are building core memories. Definitely worth the visit and a great way to spend a day. Make sure to take the time to talk to the people working there.

This place is an absolute treasure: it is not a museum this is a time travel back for 200 years when this land was taken and cultivated by settlers. Live characters are explaining their life, work, tools and world and allow to learn more and have the most interesting exchange. I heavily recommend a visit in this marvelous place not only to learn about the development of the area in New Brunswick but also how our modern world developed in the last 200+years

Had a great time exploring Kings Landing on New Brunswick Day. Admission was free for the day, but would be worth it either way. All of the characters in the village were great. Learnt lots and saw so much. This time of year was great as many of the flowers and gardens were at peak time. Took tonnes of pictures. It takes about 3-4 hours to fully explore.

It was an amazing place with breathtaking beauty, welcoming people, animals, horse riding, in short perfect day out place with family. The roads are muddy so when it's dry, it's too dusty, taking a mask is recommended. My Son is allergic to dust so it wasn't comfortable for him. But he enjoyed a lot. And the warm brownie was just the perfect treat for all. The washrooms were clean, a gift shop to buy souvenir and there was restaurant too.

Visitors can enjoy walking across the entire length of the bridge and even purchase souvenirs at the nearby museum.
How cool is this! A working covered bridge! All be it one direction at a time, but still super cool. Great views from both sides. A great, quick stop on our CA road trip ... well worth it.

On our way to Bay of Fundy and a quick stop off highway brought us to this quant little town with as its says, “World’s longest covered bridge”. We parked our car and walked the bridge to experience the build. Took at most 30 minutes to walk from one end to the other stopping, chatting and taking photos. If you have time, worth the turn off.

Really long covered bridge with a great scenic side view for pictures from a nice little park on the Hartland side. Just be aware that this is a single lane bridge with two way traffic, so make sure you stop and check for any oncoming traffic before proceeding onto the bridge.

We enjoyed the experience by foot and by car, the world's longest covered bridge. It's a great walk across and the scenery all over Hartland makes you feel like exploring the area for a little bit longer - it's definitely not city life! The Paul Bunyan Statue in Bangor, Maine has been a prominent landmark since 1959. Standing at 31 feet tall, this colorful fiberglass statue was a gift from a New York group of builders to commemorate their 125th anniversary. It depicts the legendary lumberjack alongside his blue ox and has become a popular photo spot for visitors. The statue is located in Bass Park and serves as a tribute to Bangor's forestry heritage, attracting thousands of tourists annually.
Parking is iffy. If you’re quick you can get away with parking at the gas station across the way. Simple but quick activity to do with the kids. Fun to see how little they are in comparison to the monstrosity that is Paul Bunyan!

If you are doing a drive-by, you have the Entertainment so there's no traffic coming. It might be easier to park somewhere to take a picture. We got lucky as it wasn't real busy.

This was a lot larger than I imagined and I really liked it. The Cole Land Transportation Museum in Bangor, Maine is a captivating destination for enthusiasts of vintage vehicles and transportation history. Founded by Earl E. Cole in 1956, the museum's mission is to preserve and showcase a diverse array of land transportation equipment from Maine's past. Visitors can explore an extensive collection that includes antique cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, military vehicles spanning from World War II to the Vietnam War era, as well as farm equipment and even bicycles.
Cole Land Transportation Museum – A Must-See Stop in Bangor! During a trip to Bangor earlier in 2025, I stopped at the Cole Land Transportation Museum—and it ended up being one of the best parts of the visit. I was welcomed right away by two fellow veterans volunteering at the front, and that connection alone made the experience more meaningful. I also received a handcrafted Maine maple walking stick—a thoughtful gift the museum gives to veterans as a way to honor their service and offer something lasting to take home. Inside, the museum holds an impressive collection of land transportation history—antique snowplows, fire trucks, tractors, military vehicles, and more. From restored Model Ts to equipment used in Maine’s logging and farming industries, everything is well displayed with clear signage and wide walkways to explore at your own pace. I also learned more about the museum’s background. It was founded by Galen Cole, a WWII veteran and trucking company owner, who wanted to preserve local transportation history while also honoring veterans and educating future generations. That mission really comes through as you walk through the exhibits—it’s more than just old equipment. The volunteers shared how committed the museum is to veteran outreach and education. They mentioned how the museum hosts school groups, military reunions, and community events that promote patriotism and civic responsibility. Outside, there’s a Vietnam-era Huey helicopter and an M60 tank surrounded by plaques and flags in a memorial area that’s both quiet and powerful. Admission was very reasonable, and the visit was absolutely worth it. Whether you’re into history, vehicles, or just looking for something different in the Bangor area, I highly recommend stopping here. I’d go back without hesitation.

Small and mighty! Spent an hour and half looking at so much history that is mainly acquired and restored from local sources! Bonus scavenger hunts for all ages if you're into that. Well displayed and maintained.

This is an awsome little museum, with lots of stuff packed into the building. We stopped in while exploring the area and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly and eager to answer questions. The layout is great and easy to wonder around in

Excellent exhibit. Our guide Jim was a added bonus. Great job glad we stopped
Charles M — Google review
This was an impromptu stop rather early in the morning, so I didn't visit the museum, but just getting to visit the outside things was worth the detour.
Stacey M — Google review
Amazing! I went for an event for my grandchildren and truly enjoyed every minute. It is so fascinating and I am not interested in vehicles at all. Just not my thing. The children had so much fun with the event and the scavenger hunt throughout the museum. They looked at everything there trying to find the pieces on the scavenger hunt pictures. The museum is AMAZING and I can't wait to go back.

Penobscot Narrows Bridge

Observation Decks & Towers
The tallest public bridge observatory in the world, with panoramic views of the river & Fort Knox.
Pretty cool that there’s a structure this tall in this part of maine. Beautiful views and I enjoyed the plaques up in the observation deck explaining each directions view and what you were even looking at.
David S — Google review
One of 4 bridge observatories in the world. Love coming here. Admission includes access to Fort Knox's rich history, too!

My human and I almost embarked on a legendary journey to the top of the world: an observatory with views so vast they whisper ancient secrets to the wind. But alas… destiny was cruel. We stopped. I peed. She said, “Back in the car.” No exploration. No panoramic glory. No moment of reflection under the endless sky. Just asphalt and betrayal. As we drove away, I stared longingly out the window — my fur tousled by the air of unrealized adventure — and whispered to myself, “The stars deserved better.” Final Verdict: Great potential. Poor execution. I’m bringing a different human next time.

Enjoyed a couple of hours visiting the bridge, the observatory at the tip of the bridge, and the accompanying fort. Elevator ride to the observatory was quick and easy. Views were great.
David L — Google review
Excellent views. Entry fee gets you into both the tower and the nearby fort. Glad we stopped.

Wonderful experience, if you're in the area you need to go and see its amazing I wish the Alabama Dot would do one in our state
Guy S — Google review
Was quite pricey to visit the observatory. We just stopped by, took a view for free and left. By the way this was not the original bridge - they rebuilt a modern version. Still cool tho.

Eye catching bridge that has an observatory on top of one main support tower. Was a beautiful day and a nice place to spend a few hours.

State park
Sights & Landmarks
Fort Knox and Penobscot Narrows Observatory is a historic site featuring a 19th-century granite fort and a modern bridge with a 420-ft. observation tower. The park includes three military forts, including the well-preserved Fort Knox open for tours in the summer. The Penobscot Narrows Bridge, an engineering marvel, offers stunning views and opened in 2006. Visitors can explore the cool stone interiors of the fort on hot days and enjoy the open water batteries outside.
We had a great time checking out the views in the observatory! I do wish you could just pay a smaller fee to just go to the observatory as there is one blanket cost for both fort Knox and the observatory. Parking is great and there are decent restrooms to use. The elevator is quick! There is plenty of room at the top and it feels rock solid. You can see far around with helpful dioramas to show where points of interest are.

We first found interest in the observation tower inside the bridge, which was amazing! Arriving early/mid-morning (and mid week) parking and access was very quick and easy. The elevator to the top was fast, quiet and seemingly motionless (for those of you who are squeamish). There are some more steps at the top, but still have a great view if you choose not to move higher (for those of you who have walking and steps limitations). The view is amazing and there are displays that indicate what you’re seeing as you look out in any direction. Fort Knox (no….not THAT Fort Knox) which is included in the ticket price, has a self guided tour of the fort, complete with canons, quarters, displays with pictures and descriptions of daily life, timeline and purpose of this fort designed to protect inland invasion during the Spanish-American war.

Stumbled upon this gem during our drive back from Bar Harbor to New York City. Located about an hour west of Bar Harbor/Acadia along Route 1. Saw a beautiful bridge and signs for “Fort Knox” observatory and headed toward that direction. Admission to the Fort alone is about $6.50 for out-of-state visitors and combined with the bridge observatory (recommended) is about $9.50. After paying the fees at the gate, you can either head to explore the fort or down toward the bridge’s observatory deck. There is a separate parking area for the bridge observatory. Once there, you head down along the path to the bridge’s tower entrance. You then take an elevator up to the top. From there, there are two short flights of stairs to get to the top/observatory section. The views there are spectacular…more than worth the nominal price of admission. The elevator operators/greeters were both super nice and very informative. The fort itself is also great with lots of area to explore on multiple levels. The top and bottom levels offer some great view of the Penobscot River. The gift shop there is also nice…lots of souvenir and snack options. All staff we encountered were very nice and helpful.

We visited here on our way from Camden to Bar Harbor. I separately reviewed the Penobscot Observation Tower which was also a great experience. Upon arrival in the parking lot you are given the option to purchase a ticket for just the Fort or for the Fort and Ovservation Tower; there is no Observation Tower only. Our priority was the Observation Tower and ww used what time was remaining to explore the Fort. There is a gift shop and restrooms you pass on your way into and back out of the Fort itself. The first thing I noticed was how intact the structure of the Fort was. Many of the ones I have seen in other places are reconstructions or ruins with walls crumbling. My husband and I explored a good bit of the area, although not all of it due to time constraints. I loved that you were able to walk through the same places soldiers did 200 years ago. The views from outside the walls were also incredible and very much worth stopping for on a sunny day. Overall, a truly great slice of history. We were just 2 adults, but I imagine kids would also love exploring this place, too. Highly recommend, especially as a way to break up the drive to or from Bar Harbor.

A well preserved fortification. Great place to bring well behaved pups. As they are welcomed onto all the grounds. SnickleFritz loved it. The folks working here are as friendly as can be. Especially in the gift shop and at the entrance gate. Great entertainment for kids of all ages.

Nice to visit fort. Nice, but small Visitors Center, which included giftshop. Long walk to inside of fort, but I made it and I'm disabled. Getting into the fort was difficult because of a steep ramp. Lots of big stairs and steep ramps throughout. I pretty much sat while my husband looked around. It was really big with lots to explore. He like it.

This fort is awesome! Fully explorable, and friendly staff. It’s a great mostly restored and a great historical location, the guide signs are helpful in figuring out what things are. There is a great book about the fort in the gift shop too, paperback and affordable, worth it. “The Observatory” visit is the most awesome thing I’ve done on a bridge, ever! Absolutely worth every penny. I’ve been here before and I’ll be back to visit again. Great visit 👍

Really cool place to explore! It’s quite the hidden gem as there weren’t very many people when we went. It’s incredibly impressive, especially for how old it is, they have done an amazing job with the upkeep. Doesn’t take too long to explore, which is nice, and it also provides a beautiful view of the water.

Park
Camden Hills State Park is a sprawling 5,700-acre mountainous park in Camden, Maine. It features a campground and an extensive network of 30 miles of well-mapped hiking trails that cater to various skill levels. The highlight is the moderately difficult climb up Mt. Megunticook, offering stunning vistas of Downtown Camden and Penobscot Bay.
Drive up the mountain to enjoy panoramic view of the midcoast region. Short walking distance to the tower that overlooks Camden harbor. In July, the woods around the tower are filled with Maine wild blueberries 🫐

We camped here for a few nights and enjoyed the campground. When checking in the woman at check in was helpful and very nice. Site was great, park was quiet at night, and the other campers were friendly. Would camp here again. Oh- and Mt Battie view is AMAZING.
Rose M — Google review
The view from the top of Mount Battie is absolutely gorgeous. In the fall it must be amazing!! We’ve been there several times through the years. They’ve made some improvements including a lead up sidewalk from the parking area which is wheelchair accessible. It cost $12 and change to enter the parking area which for 2 out of state residents in a vehicle.
John K — Google review
Cool state park in a great location. We camped one night in the off season. Park staff were friendly and helpful. We drove up to enjoy the view which is pretty spectacular, had dinner in Camden, then returned to the site for a warm campfire on a cool night. There are trails for hiking, decent cycling options, we saw a ton of wild turkeys. Only downside is that the bathroom/showers aren't quite at the level we're used to with the PA State Parks that we frequent. The campsites are spaced nicely so some are not right on top of each other, some are, but we had a lot of options this late in the season.

Camden Hills State Park is an absolute gem! The park offers stunning viewpoints overlooking Camden Harbor, Penobscot Bay, and the surrounding forests — the kind of scenery that makes every step worth it. Whether you hike up or drive to the top, the views are gorgeous throughout. Highly recommend visiting, especially on a clear day when you can see the islands spread out across the bay. 🌲⛰️✨

This was our basecamp for visiting Camden. We love the town and the park. Clean, safe, friendly. If you're camping, there's no additional fee to drive up Mt. Battie. We discovered that Edna St. Vincent Milay wrote a poem about the view!

Beautiful scenery and nice woodsy hikes. The viewpoints are stunning and parking was easy throughout the park.

Mount Battie Trail

Embark on a picturesque 1-mile out-and-back hiking adventure along Mount Battie Trail in Camden Hills State Park. This moderate-level trail offers seasonal wildflowers and a rock scramble at the top, providing an up-close look at diverse wildlife. The trail leads to the summit of Mt. Battie, where you'll be treated to breathtaking views of Camden's harbor, Penobscot Bay, and nearby islands.
This short trail was made more challenging by Mother Nature the day we did it. We had a light rain while hiking (& scrambling) up as a family. Short enough the kids didn’t whine, but just slick enough we had to help our 6 year old in a few places.

Hiked up from the wharf for the fireworks and it was an awesome hike with an excellent view. There is an auto road you can pay to drive up, and it is not very expensive. It brings you right to the outlook.
Beau R — Google review
Spectacular view. Tower was being worked on and unable to photograph it. Used auto road. The path changed not like years ago, park and space for a picnic on a blanket.
Lindamarie J — Google review
This is a solid tourist attraction. There are lots of options here for pretty much everyone. You can drive all the way to the top and there is easy access to the views from parking lot. Also there are bathrooms at the top which aren’t terrible. There are also options to hike all the way from the bottom, or various points a long the trail. It isn’t a hard trail, but there are a lot of rock scrambles, if rainy it could be pretty slick.
Jason M — Google review
Steep from town...better to take trail from Camden Hills Staye Park. Great views of the PenobscotBay & Camden & beautiful trail!
Heather — Google review
I will start this by saying this area is a state park. So there is a fee but it's not an arm and a leg. Also for those who like camping there is a campground at the base. That said, let's continue... Now two ways to get to the top of Mt. Battie. You can walk up, or you can be like me and drive up. I've done enough walking for the last 65 years:) Parking though will accommodate around 30 cars. And I'll be honest that's just a guess. So once you're up there you get one of the best views of Camden harbor and Rockland that you could ever ask for. Also there is a small observation tower you can go up to get an extended view. If you're lucky you can watch eagles sailing on the up draft and they float around for a bit. I would suggest bringing up a lawn chair. A lot of people don't and just walk around for a few minutes then leave. The best part is to sit and take it all in. So if you're up in the area stop by. You won't be disappointed.

Colby College Museum of Art

Art museum
Museums
Intimate museum specializing in American & contemporary art, plus some Chinese & European works.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much I saw in this art museum! Especially on a college campus. I went on a weekday during the summer semester, so it was very empty. There is so much to see, and I took longer exploring, than I initially thought. Great artwork on display. Some rooms were under construction, so I couldn't enter. But overall, I recommend anyone to stop by if they're in the area.
Chidi A — Google review
What a great (not so little) little museum of art! Well curated, well collected and displayed - one of the best I’ve seen for sure. I love these college campus settings too. Can’t wait for the graduating class to go on display next month!
Zachary S — Google review
What a beautiful campus. The museum is free. Happy to see some world renounced artworks. Two students walked us to the bookstore. Where can you find people like that these days.
GF T — Google review
Outstanding collection of contemporary art. Parking was ackward, but we called the museum, and they gave us instructions. Friendly staff and free admission!
S R — Google review
Not child friendly for families with a variety of ages. I wanted to let elementary and middle school age kids enjoy the art. But I was kicked out for a toddler making a few short noises. I was looking for a place that encouraged kids and families - this is not the place. After I left, the security guard continued to follow the other children in our group. Community art museums should not be so restrictive that kids feel unwelcome - this is often their first memorable exposure.
Rachel M — Google review
Very friendly, helpful staff. Very large, modern museum for a college. A large collection of American artists. Probably one of the best museums in the country and its free.
Jeff P — Google review
Lovely space with some beautiful pieces. Once to see a broad spectrum of American artists: black, women and indigenous people were represented in the collection. I appreciate that.

Gorgeous campus, nice museum - excellent exhibits, well documented. Will drive over periodically to see what's new! Highly recommend for an Art Fix!
