Waterfall was beautiful but having to pay $10 for parking, just to spend 15 minutes looking over the waterfall was a bit outrageous. We didn't try the hiking trail as we didn't have the time so I'm sure it's more worth it if you do the long trail as well.
Tia G — Google review
Hiked a good 7 KM distance from Hoggs Falls to Eugenia and back. View deck available to watch and listen to the relaxing sound of the raging falls. Pay parking, portable toilets, and pavilion available for visitors.
Pinky M — Google review
Great for a picnic and short or long hike depending on if you'd like to walk to Hoggs falls as well. Easy terrain with some incline and decline so be sure to be ready to make the longer trek. Family friendly of all ages if you'd like just to see Eugenia Falls. Paid parking and staff attended entrance. Highly recommend
Josh S — Google review
A great place to visit and experience a waterfall in a hidden valley that you'd never think to visit! There's a nice trail, and views of the waterfall are spectacular! NOTE: They only take debit/credit for some reason, and not cash when you pay for your parking.
Jason B — Google review
Very large falls, nice view right near the parking lot. Trails are somewhat difficult to follow in certain spots. We didn't spend a lot of time here but has lots of interconnected trails to hike. Could likely spend a full day here. Was told there's a view from the bottom of the falls if you start at Hoggs falls and hike 4.5 hours.
Genevieve M — Google review
This is one of my favorite waterfalls in Ontario. It's tall, and the hills of the Beaver Valley make it feel mythical, especially in the Autumn. The water runs fullest in the spring and then you'll find a thunderous torrent that gives off spray. Otherwise, it can be relatively sparse for water. Nonetheless, it's not to be missed!
Michelle R — Google review
Nice conservation area 2 hours from Toronto. The trail starts from the falls into the woods for about 3.5 km ending with a beautiful view from the high point of the forest. Looks amazing in fall. The trail does not make a loop, so you need to return the same path. Good sight of the falls at the start of the trail. I was a little disappointed as usually you get to the scenic point after having made effort on the trails. Well that's normally my incentive. But then at the end of the trail the sight was quite breathtaking so it all ended well. PS: The staff said the trail goes up to Tobermory, if one is feeling really enthusiastic ;)

Hoggs Falls Parking Lot 🇨🇦

Public parking space
Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Free parking lot with lots of information. Hoggs falls is a very short walk from the parking lot. This is the starting point to so many trials. The beaver valley hike is about 28km and takes just under 9hrs. The parking lot isn't that big and can fill up very quickly.
Brent — Google review
A delightful spot to visit and walk or hike. The falls are a short, easy walk from the parking lot, with a porta potty onsite at least during the summer. Lots of trails branch out from the falls, including the main Bruce Trail. The falls themselves are not especially high, but still displace an impressive volume of water. Well worth the visit.
Adrian M — Google review
Beautiful falls view and very easy to get to, right by free parking. Hike the Bruce Trail for 7km to reach Eugenia Falls or if you don't want to hike the full 14km, take a 10 minute drive, although w/ $10 parking.
Marcello V — Google review
Decent free parking in main lot. Has one porta potty, but could use a permanent facility! Extensive variety of clearly marked trails and very detailed to keep you on course! Falls is located not too far from parking lot. Some trails consist of raised boardwalks to over stream bridges and climbing height elevation! Trail difficulty from easy to intermediate and difficult. Worth the visit to Flesherton Area! 🚙🌲🦌🐾
Phil J — Google review
This is on crown land, parking lot fairly small. Hoggs Falls are definitely worth visiting; very beautiful and just a short walk from the parking lot (2 options, one via a set of wooden stairs, the other short distance along the road and an easy walk)
Mirka J — Google review
Small parking lot can fit about a dozen cars. Filling up quickly. Short walking distance to a nice little waterfall. The rope part is a bit slippery and requires attention.
Dima B — Google review
Free to visit. Short hike to the falls. Ropes to help you get down.

The resort offers a wide range of activities, from thrilling zip lining and caving to more leisurely pursuits like golfing and spa services. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of Wasaga Beach, the lift-accessed mountain bike park, and sections of the Bruce Trail.
We had a great time at Blue Mountain Resort and the Village Suites. The resort was not crowded, which made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. The weather was perfect during our visit, and there were many fun activities for everyone. From the scenic gondola ride to mini putting and the activity center, everything was organized and easy to access. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the pool was decent as well.

Our stay at Blue Mountain Resort and the Village Suites was absolutely delightful! The resort was pleasantly uncrowded, allowing us to unwind and enjoy our time. The weather was ideal, and there were plenty of exciting activities for all ages. We appreciated how well-organized everything was, from the scenic gondola ride to the mini golf and activity centre, buying the day pass was worth it as all the activities are covered under it. We had so much fun. The staff were warm and welcoming.

Blue Mountain... what can be said. The village alone is reason enough to go. I love just to wander the vaguly theme park-esq esthetic of it all, popping into various shops and pubs. It's like if Ikea were a real place; everone here is just so happy to be here. There's a whole bunch of outdoor activities, or you can get drunk. Those are your two options, BUT within those options, there is so much variety. Great in the winter for all the skiing and snowboarding. Fine in the other 3 seasons for golf and climbing a thing. Check it out.

🏔️ Iconic, beautiful, and blue sky's ahead. 🔵 The villege Square is beautiful and quaint. Felt so much like in a movie. The activities at fun yet still very safe. You'll hear screams... Of excitement. ⛰️ Majestic views of the hills and the nature. Beautiful walking trails and everyone was so friendly. 👨🏻‍🍳 The food here was so flavorful and mouthwatering. Beautiful on the inside, with friendly service and outside with how they decorated. 🅿️ We had no problem finding parking. However the place was difficult, but the ride was beautiful and majestic.
Elliot S — Google review
Our family had an amazing experience at Blue mountain on the weekend. The views were great. It was very busy with the Spartan race but that was fine, we went out for dinner and the restaurant seemed to be able to handle the amount of people there. There were lots of great activities to do, like the gondola ride, Agora light show, coaster and lots of window shopping And hiking around. The only downfall was that it was a little bit expensive but everything is expensive these days
Amanda O — Google review
We recently returned from a night away staying at the Snowbridge Resort. The only thing we enjoyed with our stay was the comfort of the bed. Otherwise, we found that the condo was very poorly maintained for the price you pay. Holes and gouges in the walls throughout and in the kitchen cabinetry. Both bathroom mirrors all had rotting frames (likely from moisture) but should be replaced. I wish this review would allow pictures to be added. Some light bulbs were burnt out and multiple lamps (bedside table and livingroom) were just unplugged. Crumbs were on the couch, hair and black mold in the bathtub, food crumbs still in the fridge. Very poor quality control. Someone set the alarm, so it woke us up at 5am. This wasn't a bedside clock but just purely an alarm for waking. We were given the incorrect wifi password. The battery went dead on our front door, so our key card wouldn't work and we were unable get into our unit at 7:30pm and had to wait outside for maintenance to show. When the maintenance guy finally showed up, he wasn't apologetic, seemed irritated, and made a comment to make us feel like we just didn't know how to get into the unit. In future, we would not return! We will instead book an AirBnB, as those home owners are way more on top of ensuring the place is well maintained.
Heather F — Google review
It's my first time visiting Blue Mountain Village, and it was such a fun experience. We had the single day pass for the activities that I believe it allows us access pretty much every activity in the village. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. here's what we did : Ridge Runner mountain coaster 2times Wind Rider zip line Mill Pond water bicycle Gondola Cascade Putting Course Just love these activities even I'm not a sporty person, they were fun, accessible, and most of them are suitable for all ages. There're different trails as well, very nice place to spend time with friends and family. We did not stay in the hotels in the village, but FYI there's promotions on stay+play. And day pass will be cheaper if you purchase them 7 days ahead. And the village has shops and many restaurants, it's lively yet relaxing, perfect for a casual day out or short getaway, definitely worth visiting.
LingJ — Google review
The Winter Play All Day package at Blue Mountain is a fun option if you’re not into snowboarding or skiing. It includes several activities like ice skating (which, oddly enough, requires you to drive up the mountain since it’s not accessible from the main area), the Ridge Runner Mountain Coaster — a cart-on-rails ride that lets you speed down the hill — a netted jungle gym-style play area, and tubing, which we ended up skipping since it didn’t seem worth the time. Admission was around $40–$60, if I remember correctly. The value is decent for what you get, but it’s not really a full-day experience. The ice skating took up most of our time mainly because of the drive and lack of a shuttle or lift to that area — it would be great if Blue Mountain added a more direct way to get there. Overall, it’s an okay package, especially for families or kids who aren’t into snow sports. It’s affordable enough for a half-day of fun, but not something I’d call a must-do.

Plunge! Aquatic Centre is a popular water park located in Blue Mountain Village, offering a variety of attractions for visitors of all ages. The center features thrilling slides, rope swings, and multiple swimming pools, including heated indoor/outdoor options. Additionally, guests can enjoy hot tubs with scenic views and an indoor splash pad. Whether you prefer outdoor adventures or staying cozy indoors, Plunge! has something for everyone.
I've heard this place can get crazy busy. We went in the evening and were able to get right in. The facilities are nice enough. Lots of lockers. I wish there were more change stalls, but that's just a personal preference. The pools are neat, with lots of activities to suit everyone. The hot tubs are actually hot, and heavenly! Staff are pleasant and plenty of lifeguards spread around. The water quality was... questionable. I get that it was the end of a long day, and probably a busy week. But it was a little murky. Not enough to stop me from swimming, but the whole pool looked like it could use a scrub, especially the walls of the plunge pool. Again, I know it's difficult to keep such a busy place sparkling.
A H — Google review
First experience as we arrived was positive. The lady who greeted was nice. We had play all day passes. It was an easy start. I have to say though, it was quite unorganized after that. You’re not supposed to wear shoes into the change rooms but the hall where you leave shoes is very small and in the way for hallway traffic. There was no where to sit to take shoes off and for when you’re putting shoes back on. The family change room was clean. You have to pay $5 for a lock. I think the lockers should be updated to larger lockers and make them like the ski rental lockers, pay by debit. Pool was clean but very crowded. Otherwise, kids had a very positive experience.
Lindsey M — Google review
One Star – Extremely Disappointing and Unsafe Experience. Visited on opening day expecting a clean and enjoyable experience, but it was anything but. The pools were visibly dirty right from the start, and both the deep-end pool and outdoor hot tub were closed with no explanation. You’d think these would be ready and in top condition for the first day of operation. The most disturbing part of the visit was discovering a dead rat in the pool while I was there with my 5-year-old child. We nearly stepped on it. It’s absolutely baffling how this wasn’t noticed and dealt with before opening. Staff casually removed it with a net while swimmers – including toddlers – were still in the pool. No one was asked to leave, and no visible steps were taken to disinfect the water. Completely unacceptable, both from a hygiene and safety standpoint. Definitely not worth the ticket price or the trip. Would not recommend and will not be returning.
Evelyn N — Google review
It was a good experience. I took my 3 children with me. It was a good day. We did the all-day pass, and it was worth it. We brought a cooler with lunches and snacks. When my kids needed a break, we went back to the truck to eat and rest. I wish the other pool was open, but my kids enjoyed it anyway.
Sarah-May P — Google review
Don’t bother with the vending machines at Plunge. It will eat your $5,$10,$20 bills. Good luck getting your money back. Staff knows full well and won’t warn you. Save your cash and don’t use the vending machine. Staff should put up a sign. Shame.
Dan C — Google review
The Plunge was overall a good experience for my toddlers and me. It was a bit crowded, but that was expected since it was midday and very hot. The water inside the building was cold, understandably, while the outdoor pool was warmer. However, the water wasn’t very clean, with noticeable tree particles and hair floating around. Despite that, my girls really enjoyed their time at the splash pad and the hot tub. It is quite pricey. When we arrived, there were no lockers available. The change rooms are small, and renting a locker costs $5.00. If you need a towel, it’s an additional $1.00. Children aged 3 and up are charged to use the pool, and there’s also a $10.00 fee just to be a spectator. On the board at front desk, they put that you can only stay for a maximum of 2 hours, but I am not sure how they are tracking people's stay. There are two lifeguards at the pool and an attendant at the slide, which was reassuring.
Vithucha V — Google review
This was definitely a great pool to experience water fun after being in the sun. The pool had different temperatures inside and outside. The heated pool was large, hot and relaxing as well. There was more than plenty of seating for everyone during off peak hours. Only gripe is the main attraction "The Plunge" rope is restricted to the seperate deep end pool, which everyone must take a swim test to use, and children that must stay within arms reach require the parent to take it as well. Fair, but does suck for the smaller children that come specifically for that. Luckily, there is a kiddie playground(0-6) with a water slide on the inside, a dump bucket, and basketball nets beside a bigger slide on the outside.
Mike J — Google review
We visited the mountain area during Us Thanksgiving took our to-year-old nephew here. It was quiet, not very many people. They have a little indoor pool that has a kids area to play in with a small slide and they have a medium size slide outside. That's the kids still can go out with you and they have a plunge pool that you have to swim. Show them you can swim to go in it. It is deep so you can swing and a rope over pool and jump in. The water was warm enough. There was also a hot tub that was really warm thing. I say it's kind of expensive for what you're getting but the staff was very nice. It was very clean. Had a locker room. What you can change. You can rent towels if you need them. Bring them because they charge you for towel

Churches & Cathedrals
The Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate, a Gothic Revival-style church, was built in 1888 on the highest point in Guelph. Constructed entirely of locally quarried limestone, this impressive structure is considered one of Joseph Connolly's best works. The renowned Canadian architect specialized in Gothic Revival churches and designed this cathedral to rival St. Peter's in Rome.
I had the opportunity to visit the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate in Guelph on a weekday, and it was a truly serene and awe-inspiring experience. The basilica’s stunning Gothic Revival architecture, intricate stained glass windows, and beautifully detailed interiors make it a must-see for anyone visiting Guelph. The quiet weekday atmosphere allowed me to fully appreciate the peaceful ambiance and the grandeur of this historic church. Whether you’re there to pray, admire the craftsmanship, or learn about its history, the basilica offers a sense of calm and reflection that’s hard to find elsewhere. A beautiful landmark and a testament to timeless architecture – highly recommended for history, art, and architecture enthusiasts.

just visited the Basilica of Our Lady Immaculate in Guelph, and it was seriously impressive! I'm always on the lookout for stunning landmarks, and this one definitely delivered. Inside, it's so peaceful and beautiful. The light streaming through the colorful stained glass windows was magical. You can really feel the history and the importance of the place. It's the kind of place that makes you stop and just take it all in. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Guelph. It's easy to find, and wandering around inside is a great way to spend some time. It gives you a real sense of the city's character and history.

A beautiful church (Basilica ) constructed in 1800s . Awasom construction I have checked the mass timings on the church site , so that was able to participate in the mass of 11 am on Sunday Inside the church it's very calm and buetiful.. well lighted (naturally) with colour full stained glass Highly recommended to visit at least once if you pass through Guelph

This is one of my favorite historic site in Ontario. inside and out are so stunning, well detailed. Though I not visiting church like other Christian I would say I will be regular here if I am living in this area. So beautiful, if you see the interior of the church you definitely be in 'awe' moment.

I visited the BASILICA OF OUR LADY IMMACULATE today, which is in Guelph. It was a half an hour drive from my place in Waterloo and I have been wanting to visit the Bascillica for the longest time ever. Although the website said the Basilica closes at 3 pm, we were able to visit and pray in peace when we reached there at 3:30 pm. The place has a very calm and soothing vibe, it's very peaceful and beautiful. I spent around 20 minutes there talking to GOD. And then witnessed the amazing architecture. One should visit the Bascillica if they need a break from the busy world and want some peace and time to talk to GOD. Don't forget your 3 wishes if you're visiting the Bascillica for the first time. 🤭

Beautiful basilica! I love coming here during the weekdays, with no one around to calm my mind in thoughtful prayer. I’m in absolute awe with the artistic intricacy and architecture, both interior and exterior. The stain glass windows come to life as the sun shines through it. Beautiful all year round.

Was here for a wedding and I have to say the place is immaculate, the intricate details, the paintings, the stain glass. I mean it was was just amazing to behold. The ceremony was flawless, and the sound when the organ played...wow, highly reccomend a visit

If you need to find some peace and quiet or just check out of your thoughts for a couple of hours this is the place to go! Everyone is happy and who doesn’t love hugging a fluffy miniature donkey?! I fell in love with Caesar! We’ll be heading back before the season closes.

A definite must visit such a beautiful tranquil Sanctuary. It's an absolutely beautiful, wonderful place.so much love and care are given to these beautiful animals. You can't help but fall in love with these Donkeys and gratitude to all the staff vets volunteers who show some much love and compassion

The staff and volunteers were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The donkeys all seemed well cared for and friendly. Very docile creatures. They enjoyed the petting and many would stand by the fence where they could be reached. It was a fun day.

Such a great experience! This place is a safe haven for donkeys and mules. The volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable and you will learn a lot. Being around that many donkeys leaves you feeling “zen” since they are so calm and gentle. A great way to spend an afternoon :)
Felicia D — Google review
I loved how there are so many volunteers here, caring and looking after the donkeys and so knowledgable too, could answer any questions thrown at them and you could see the compassion and loving nature as they spoke about each donkey. My only disappoinment was that i wish there was more interaction with the donkeys, some kind of space where you could sit with them, feed them, brush them, anything really. I came in from Toronto (1.5hr drive, each way) to spend just 30 minutes at the santuary, i felt alittle deflated but happy i got to see them being so loved.
JAKI O — Google review
This donkey sanctuary was impressive. We went to the talk about donkeys and learned so much about them. The donkeys and mules were very gentle. This is a great day trip from Toronto for all ages. I highly recommend it. You can even support this worthy organization by sponsoring one of the adorable donkeys or mules. Just one little warning - the website says to wear closed shoes and long pants. I wore the closed shoes but opted for capri pants. Unfortunately the part of my leg that was exposed came into contact with stinging nettle plants growing close to the fence of the donkey paddocks so be sure to keep away from the nettles or wear long pants!

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our visit to the Donkey Sanctuary yesterday. I am so glad we were able to make it for the last open day of the season and will definitely be back for a longer visit next year. We fell in love with Apollo who came over to say hello when we first arrived. The farm is well organized, the grounds are well kept, and it is a beautiful and peaceful place. You can tell that everyone working and volunteering here truly cares for the donkeys. Thank you for your hospitality!

Westfield Heritage Village, located in Rockton just a short drive from Hamilton, offers a captivating glimpse into the region's past. The outdoor museum spans 840 acres and features more than 30 meticulously reconstructed historical buildings. Visitors can engage with costumed interpreters who bring to life the culture and lifestyle of Canadians from the late 1800s to the early 1900s.
I had an amazing experience at Westfield Heritage Village! I liked it so much that I visited twice this summer. The first time, I was so impressed that I went back the next day with a friend. The volunteers are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, which made our visit even more enjoyable. The village features over 30 historic buildings on a 130 hectare site, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past. It’s a great place to explore and learn about history, with beautiful woodlands, meadows, and trails perfect for peaceful hikes. Highly recommend it for anyone interested in history and nature!

We visited during Maple syrup festival which was also during March break so a popular outing for families. We purchased tickets in advance as they did limit the number of people entering at a time for this event. The tickets were good for 2 hours. Plenty of time to enjoy everything. This is a family friendly, reasonably priced venue . I intend to go back and visit again this summer.

What a marvelous gem! So many open houses and stories. The interpreters were outstanding and the First Nations perspective by Rope was an highlight. We thought 3 hours will be enough but plan to be there 4-5 hours with all the stories you can hear. We will be back!

Westfield Heritage Village is a hidden gem for history lovers and families alike. The village is beautifully preserved, with authentic 19th-century buildings and knowledgeable staff dressed in period costumes. Walking through the village feels like stepping back in time. The blacksmith demonstration was particularly fascinating, and the general store was charming with its vintage goods. The grounds are well-maintained, making it perfect for a scenic stroll. It’s also a great spot for photos, especially during special events. Overall, a wonderful place to spend a few hours learning about Ontario’s past. Highly recommend for a relaxing and educational outing!

This is an incredible historic site! The properties are very well taken care of and the village as a whole is so charming. On sundays there are costumed interpreters and many of the buildings are open. I learned so much! It is interactive and fun for all ages. I went for about three hours and it wasn't long enough to see everything. There were some crafting activities I got to take part in. The general store sells real snacks! (the chocolate chip cookies are really great). Many of the buildings here were used as filming locations for shows like Anne of green gables and Murdoch Mysteries. Learning about medical/ surgical history was my favorite part. If you're lucky you might even get to meet some very pretty horses as some people ride them through the trails here. There is ample parking and the roads are flat and easy to walk. Admission to this site also grants you admission to two hiking trails near by. I came on a sunday at it wasn't busy at all. The storytellers here are very talented. Can't wait to come back!

Cute place to take the kids. The staff were all very friendly. It'll be great if they can incorporate a play on the center stage area. Be sure to wear bug spray if you walk through the trails. The most mosquitoes I've seen, ever, in one place!!

The skating experience here was great! Went on a Saturday night and loved that it was not over crowded. The park was so cute with lights and skate rentals provided on site. There were washrooms and some staff available to help on ice. Skate aids require a helmet rental and are limited to around 4 so it’s first come first serve. We are new skaters and once on the ice, it was manageable but if you need support like rails or barriers then this may not be the outdoor rink for you. There was also ample parking on site. Would recommend.

Ok this park is awesome. We went around 11:30am so still plenty of parking. We did the petting zoo, splash pad, park and mini golf. We had alot of fun although my daughter fell at the splash pad hitting her head, saying it was quite slippery. Will take water shoes next time. Everything else is great though and will go back.

A nice and fun place for family. You can embrace nature even when you live from the city side. It has a huge playground for kids, peacful place for relaxing in the fountain side. There are tables for picnics (Clean as you go). Not too crowded especially on weekdays. Best season to catch here for me is fall. I hope this information helps. See photos for more details. It was all taken during fall.

If not to do anything, just sit, relax and breathe; you will find yourself in the lap of mother nature there😊😊

Perfect place for families with kids to chill out and have some fun! Less busy in the mornings. Pony rides and the petting zoo are a big win for the kids. You can rent scooters inside the park for $5. Pony rides are $4 and entry into the petting zoo is $2. Refreshments are reasonably priced too. Paddle boating is $10 for a boat for 30 mins. Overall a must visit!!

Dundurn Castle, a stately Italianate villa built in 1835, offers guided tours by costumed interpreters. With over 1,700 square meters of living space and about 40 rooms, this Regency-style manor house showcases stunning Neoclassical design with four grand pillars at its entrance. Once the residence of Sir Allan MacNab, who later became Canada's prime minister, the castle boasted innovative features like running water and gas lighting.
Beautiful, historic place to see. The tour lasted 45-60 minutes and the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of this place and the people who lived here along with servants. The tour brings you back into 1830 with 42 rooms, original furniture, pictures and clothing.. Amazing how things were 'done' 200 years ago, before the industrial revolution. The castle was full of servants and everyone knew their duties. The time very well spent...

A cool step into the past. Our tour guide Roxanne was very knowledgeable and gave a great tour. So many interesting artifacts to see and a fascinating history. Tickets also included entry to another military museum at any time, looking forward to checking that one out in the future.

We planned on always visiting but something came up so we decided on that day to just go and we did. We loved it beyond words, from start to finish. The atmosphere was incredible, clean, friendly with the staff always greeting us answering anything we needed. The tour guide was the sweetest person very polite and informative as were the other members inside. I would highly recommend visiting and taking a tour. If you’re from Hamilton I would recommend getting your library card to cover the cost. No issues with parking as there was ample space. I would suggest taking the tour twice to fully embrace the experience.

We stopped by Dundurn Castle while driving around and only explored from the outside this time. The grounds were beautiful—we even caught a glimpse of a wedding, which made the visit extra special. The highlight for us was the Kitchen Garden, a large and well-kept space where staff dress in period costumes. It’s a lovely spot for a stroll, and we look forward to coming back to do the full tour another day.

What a beautiful historic castle. Beautifully decorated and set up. Taking the tour was well worth it, our guide was a wealth of information. We very much enjoyed our visit.

Even just seeing Dundurn Castle from the outside was worth the trip! The architecture is stunning, and the grounds offer amazing views that make you stop and stare 😍. It’s easy to imagine how grand life must have been living here back in the day—like stepping into a history book, only with fresh air and geese for company 🦆. Next time I’ll definitely go inside, but for now the exterior alone gets 5 stars!

HMCS Haida, a former Royal Canadian Navy destroyer, is now a museum ship located at Hamilton's West Harbour. As a Parks Canada Historic Site, it offers guided tours and educational events to help visitors understand the experiences of crew members serving on board during World War II and beyond. The ship played a significant role in historic battles and provides insight into its inner workings, from the deck to the engine room.
Came across this completely by surprise on a walk and decided to tour it, and I gotta say this was a blast (literally, they fired blanks across the harbour at one point). The tour is self guided though there are staff members around to give more in depth detail if you desire, and it takes about an hour on a busy day to get around the whole ship. Some ladders and staircases were a little narrow for my personal comfort, but that's hardly a real issue. Definitely worth the visit for any war history fans
Lugosi — Google review
This is a mist visit spot. It portrays the rich history of the Canadian participation in WWII. Going through the destroyer will give you an idea of the endurance of our brave brothers who served on board. It is the only tribal class destroyer that’s left in the world. Try to visit at 12, when they have the firing of the gun. Also, during summer if the temperature gets above 45 degree inside the ship, they will close it. It doesn’t have air conditioning inside so on a hot day expect it to be really hot inside. Dont miss the engine room. It’s absolutely fascinating!
Sanand A — Google review
What a great day trip! The HMCS Haida, Canada’s last surviving Tribal-class destroyer, was an incredible ship to explore—and the best part? Admission was free during our visit. We had a beautiful day in Hamilton, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They made the experience even better with their kindness and enthusiasm. Exploring the ship gave us a chance to compare Canadian and U.S. naval vessels, which made it all the more fascinating. HMCS Haida is full of history and very well preserved. Walking through the tight corridors and seeing the ship’s layout really made the past come alive. Highly recommend this stop—perfect for families, history buffs, or anyone interested in military or naval heritage.

So nostalgic for me, two of my grandparents fought during WWI and WWII and I get chills being here. It’s a well preserved history, there was also reenactment when we were there. Not a lot of parking so be there as it opens. I recommend getting a ticket, it was free when we were there but still need to pick up our entrance ticket by the booth at the entrance
Rachelle L — Google review
We went for a day trip and this was a last minute decision. The students/staff were abundant and full of knowledge. To our surprise they had a live gun display. This is a fascinating piece of history. As the ship is so old - my recommendation is to place some charcoal bags to absorb some of the weird smells. I left a donation as the entrance was free.

Exploring HMCS Haida in Hamilton 🇨🇦✨ My first visit here and I have to say, it was such a unique experience. Even with a 45-minute wait, stepping aboard this historic warship made it completely worth it. Walking through the decks felt like taking a step back in time and really brought Canada’s naval history to life. A must-see if you’re visiting Hamilton! 🚢🌊

This is an amazing piece of history that is definitely worth the visit. You are able to walk through the warship on a self guided tour and take as long as you want. There is information along the ways as you climb up and down ladders and see what life was like for the soldiers that served our country on the ship and how it contributed to making Canada what it is today

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton is a must-visit for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs. It boasts an impressive collection of over 45 military aircraft, including rare gems like the Avro Lancaster bomber, one of only two still flying. From World War I-era prop planes to modern jet fighters, the museum showcases Canada's aviation history. Visitors can also explore flight simulators and learn about the roles these warplanes played in significant events like the Battle of Britain.
What a great museum. First time coming, and I really enjoyed my time there. Full of beautiful historic planes and equipment. I appreciate the volunteers and people who work there, doing what they do to preserve and maintain these amazing machines and honoring the men and women of the time and what they did. I look forward to returning on Canada Day when the Lancaster fires up. We took the tour led by Phil, very enjoyable. He was entertaining and full of knowledge. Thank you.

Great place to bring kids to, lot of different war time planes to see. There are 2-3 different types of aircrafts where the kids can go in and even sit in the cockpit. Lot of historical information related to specific planes and the role they played during various wars. They have 2 propeller planes which offer the opportunity to fly in them as well. They also have free flight simulators which are a lot of fun. There is a small merchandise shop which is nice. There is ample parking. overall lot of fun for kids and adults alike. Overall must visit place for anyone interested in WWII, Canadian history and aviation history.

Great place to learn about Canada's contribution to the world wars. Minus one star for the aged and disabled who wish to visit the open flight deck but have to walk up 3 flights of stairs. Thanks to all the young and experienced cadets who are really impressive with their product knowledge. The restorers and engineers are doing an amazing job fixing up this rare collection. The Runway cafe is really good value with all the usual fast-food you'd expect. And acknowledgment to the pilots who give their passengers an unforgettable experience

Excellent place to visit and see the planes and learn how they were helpful to RCAF in defending sovereignty of our country. Interactive videos of decorated airforce personnel, who are not amongst us but the museum has kept them to see and learn about their lives. Place worth visiting.

What an awesome place. My 13 yr old wants to be a pilot and just being there with him was such a great experience. There was a large group of air cadets when we were there so we could not get a guide, but the self guided tour of the museum was fine. Would absolutely recommend to any plane enthusiasts and also anyone wanting to see some really neat Canadian history. Very well maintained, I really loved seeing these planes being restored, just awesome important work! Would definitely go back

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is more than just a museum – it’s an experience. What I loved most was the hands-on aspect. Unlike many museums where everything is kept behind ropes, here you actually get to climb into cockpits and explore the interiors of some of the aircraft. It felt amazing to sit where real pilots once sat and imagine what it must have been like to fly. The collection itself is incredible. Each aircraft comes with detailed stories and history. I was especially impressed that many of the planes are still in flying condition — it’s not just a static display, but a living museum. The museum is also very family-friendly. Kids seemed to love the interactive displays, and adults could spend hours taking in all the history. Overall, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum offers more than just a look at planes — it’s an immersive, hands-on experience that connects you to Canada’s aviation history in a very real way.

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is an incredible place to visit! You’ll discover so much about aviation and military history through engaging exhibits and displays. One of the highlights is their life-sized interactive avatars, which share fascinating stories and historical details—perfect if you prefer listening instead of reading. The museum also features beautifully restored aircraft, some of which still fly, making the experience even more special. It’s educational, interactive, and enjoyable for all ages—whether you’re a history buff, an aviation enthusiast, or just looking for a family-friendly outing. Recommended 💯% !! 😊

The park is pretty, beaches are nice, but it's very crowded on the weekends and we couldn't find space in the parking lots. We saw that many many cars had parked on the right side of the road where there are signs that say parking is forbidden on certain hours and days. However, we saw some of the cars there with fines on their windshields. Does someone know what these signs mean then? Those cars were outside of the days and restricted hours so ...utterly confused

🌳 Jack Darling Memorial Park – Mississauga Review 🌳 Jack Darling Memorial Park is truly one of the best spots in Mississauga for a picnic or a relaxing day out 🌞🍉. The park is spacious with plenty of sitting areas, making it perfect for families, friends, or even just a solo escape into nature 🪑🧺. 💚 Nature lovers will be amazed – the greenery, walking paths, and overall calm vibes really make this park stand out 🌿🌸. You can easily spend hours here enjoying the fresh air, the views, and the peaceful environment. 🚻 The only drawback is the washrooms – they are available but could definitely be cleaner and more hygienic 😕. That’s one area that needs improvement. ☕ Luckily, there’s a Tim Hortons nearby, so you can grab your coffee, snacks, or even bring along some food before heading into the park 🥤🍩. ✨ Overall, if you’re looking for a beautiful picnic spot in Mississauga, this park is a gem! Just be prepared for the washroom situation, but everything else – nature, space, and convenience – makes up for it. 🌳💫

Parking is free but limited, so going early is a good idea on weekends. Also, no bikes are allowed on the boardwalk, which helps preserve the habitat and keeps the area quiet and clean. Overall, Rattray Marsh is a must-visit if you enjoy nature trails and want a quiet escape close to home.

A hidden gem in Mississauga! It’s a beautiful conservation area with a long boardwalk over the marshes. You can follow the boardwalk all the way to a shingle beach. The beach is fairly long with lovely views of the Toronto skyline. It’s a peaceful place; even on the weekend it was not busy. One of the entrances to the conservation area is from a quiet, secluded residential area. It’s a great place to connect with nature and get some exercise.

Beautiful park! Took the stroller and did the most of the Waterfront Trail, the Knoll Trail and Silver Maple Trail. I would say the Knoll Trail was best for the stroller as it was almost all boardwalk. The Silver Maple Trail had parts where it was less flat / maintained, with tree roots and such, making it a bit harder without a proper jogging stroller. There was a couple of small steps where the Waterfront Trail connected to the Silver Maple Trail, as well. No entrance fees or tickets needed. Overall the park is gorgeous, the trails are well maintained and it is a great spot for hiking!

No tickets required to enter the place. We can park vehicles at Jack Darling memorial Park as there are no parking at Rattray Marsh Conservation area. We need to be in foot only on the broadwalk, no bicycle is allowed. Get prepared for insects and ticks. It has a good views and many animals to view.
Dhruv P — Google review
A lot of great views. You will have to park through John Darling Park. The view of the skyline and the water in John Darling is worth a trip. And an entrance to the marsh can be found around the back. Alot of nice spots to stop and take pictures on the trail. ~40-60 minutes to enjoy everything. No tickets needed.

Located in Toronto, the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre is a historic and luxurious venue with two grand balconies. Originally opened in 1920 as a movie and vaudeville theater, it boasts an elegant and lavish interior. The theater offers great sightlines across the sweeping mezzanine and top-notch acoustics, making it a favorite among audiences.
What a classic, beautiful theatre in the heart of downtown Toronto. Such a throwback to a time when they built things a lot nicer. Theatre was very clean and well kept. Modern bathrooms and the seats were comfortable. The drink prices were surprisingly fair as well. If you have the chance you should definitely come visit for a show and to see the theatre itself.
Steve S — Google review
My first visit to CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre was amazing — the place is grand, elegant, and beautifully maintained despite its long history. I went to see the MJ Musical and even though we arrived 30 minutes late, the staff were so polite and patient. One of them kindly waited for me to use the restroom before showing us to our seats — truly exceptional service! The show itself was absolutely phenomenal — full of energy, passion, and incredible performances. Huge respect to all the talented cast and crew for such an unforgettable experience!!!
Beatrice N — Google review
Fantastic theatre. Very clean. The decor is from another time, absolutely beautiful. All seats have a great view. Lots of bathrooms and drink bars. Reasonable prices on drinks and food. We parked at the Eaton center and walked across the street to the theatre.

Great Scott, this theatre was stunning! Last week, I attended a viewing of Back to the Future: The Musical. Both the theater and the show exceeded all my expectations. The theatre felt both classic and modern, and the prices were fair, with good service, bathrooms on both levels, and the atmosphere was lively and exciting! The show was absolutely brilliant. Bravo to the cast and crew for putting together such a wonderful show and honoring the Back to the Future franchise for the 40th anniversary! The performances were excellent, the effects were wicked, and the audience, from what I could tell, loved it. No wonder this award-winning show is so highly acclaimed. 11/10!

A fabulous experience watching MJ the musical. The staffs are super friendly and polite. The interior decoration is beautiful. One thing to note for ladies is that if you wish to use the washroom during intermission, you may want to skip out as soon as the break starts or wait till the end. Otherwise you will stand in line for the entire intermission. 😊

Beautiful theatre. Great productions. Was pleasantly surprised with the condition. Seem like seating, carpeting, and fixtures have been recently updated. Felt very cozy and inviting. I look forward to returning Herr sometime soon.

One of Toronto’s most iconic theatres, the Mirvish flagship (formerly known under several names) is a stunning venue that has hosted some of the city’s most impressive productions - the one I experienced most recently was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The architecture alone is worth the visit, and the atmosphere adds magic to every show. Mirvish continues to deliver unforgettable experiences in one of the most beautiful theatres around.
Christian N — Google review
Beautiful theatre, the details are stunning. The only comment are the chairs are very uncomfortable and the end ones are definitely on the small side, but every show I’ve seen here is just amazing! We saw Beetlejuice last night but also saw Harry Potter here 2 years ago and both were the best plays I’ve seen in a long time!

The Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto is a must-visit for hockey enthusiasts. It houses an extensive collection of hockey memorabilia, including famous gear and the prestigious Stanley Cup. As Canada's national sport, ice hockey has deep cultural roots in the country, and this museum serves as a sanctuary for fans to immerse themselves in the sport's history. Visitors can explore exhibits paying tribute to iconic players, watch videos showcasing legendary moments, and gain insight into the game's evolution over the years.
A must-visit in Toronto! The Hockey Hall of Fame is impressive for both die-hard fans and those just discovering the sport. You can get up close to the Stanley Cup, see historic memorabilia, and enjoy very well-designed interactive exhibits. You truly feel the passion of Canadian hockey. A memorable experience I highly recommend!
Marie — Google review
We had a fantastic visit to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. An absolute must for any hockey enthusiast or even casual sports fans. The exhibits are world-class, rich with history, and beautifully curated. Standing in front of the Stanley Cup and exploring the interactive displays was a highlight. The only disappointment was that the theatre was closed for a private function, which we only discovered after purchasing our tickets. It would have been helpful to know this beforehand. Overall, the experience was outstanding, and we highly recommend the Hockey Hall of Fame for an unforgettable glimpse into the sport’s greatest moments.
Christia Z — Google review
I'm not a massive hockey fan, but this museum was a great way to spend about 2-3 hours. Every gallery is filled with history, epic moments and team superstars. Jerseys covered hallway cabinets and screens showing the best plays were everywhere. I'm sure if your a hockey fan, you'd enjoy it even more. They also had a fairly large gift shop, with lots of NHL merchandise. My favourite section was definitely the hall of masks.
Charlie L — Google review
I spent all day here, from opening to close…to give a hint at how much I loved it here. Unlike the baseball and football halls of fame, which feel stuff, self-important, and frankly boring, the Hockey Hall of Fame is bright, vibrant, with loads of ways to explore and interact within the museum thanks to QR codes and “quests” to complete. See Rocket Richard’s 500th goal puck? Scan to QR code to watch the goal! Find a cool artifact and want to learn more? You can watch the conservator talk more about it. Beyond the 100+ year history of hockey as a sport and the NHL in general are also games where you can shoot a foam puck on goalies…or become a goalie yourself! And I haven’t yet gotten to the Great Hall, a former bank turned into a stunningly gorgeous “cathedral to hockey”, with the famous Stanley Cup and other trophies. The old bank vault now holds the most historic of treasures, a fun touch! Absolutely anyone can come in here and have fun. NOTE: the HHOF is in the basement of the Brookfield Building. There are signs all over telling you how to get to the entrance (but you will head downstairs). When you buy your ticket, your hand gets stamped for reentry…the basement of Brookfield Building has a food court with well over a dozen stalls, perfect for lunch or a snack.
Michelle T — Google review
What can I say? It's the Hockey Hall Of Fame!! Such an incredible experience. Everything from historical game worn jerseys, tons of classic vintage gear (all donated) all NHL, International Tournament memorabilia, Olympics and country's you just wouldn't expect to love hockey (like Holland) but they do and also have beautiful jersey there. The women's hockey is so rich in Canada and the displays showcasing them is such a point of pride. We got to see (and touch) the Stanley Cup and get a ton of cool info on it and so much more from hhe attendant. Goalie mask display was one of my favourites but the Stanley Cup Ring display was easily the most interesting one of all. A full Montreal Canadians locker room sits in the middle of it all and it really encompasses the love of the game when you go in. Great job over there, entry was only $25 (CHEAP) and you won't see it all in one visit! If you're in Toronto as a Canadian you HAVE to go and if you're not from around here you MUST go! And enjoy. I got to see Sidney Crosbys Gold Medal Winning stick and Jersey but whats even better for me is Jarome Iginla (Calgary Flames) assisted that goal in the most beautiful way. What fun. #gocanadago

It’s not getting any better then this. I’ve you like, watched, played or heard about it. Go there and experience this awesome collection of memorable. It’s interactive and so so nice. Shot pucks or watch the Stanley cup and all the other trophies, a wall of goalie masks and a full lockerroom
PJ — Google review
I’ve been coming here since I was young, and it never disappoints. There’s so much to do and see, with an incredible amount of hockey history on display. The interactive section with shooting and goalie saves is a blast—always a hit with kids, and big kids like me! The gift shop is awesome, full of memorabilia and souvenirs for hockey fans. This is an absolute must-visit for any hockey fan!
Mike J — Google review
Absolutely brilliant. For me, as a lifelong hockey fan, it's a dream come true. The museum is wonderfully presented and brings back so many memories. It not only contains anecdotes about old players and jerseys, but also all the trophies and pays due respect to the legends of the sport. Highly recommend. The only downside: I participated in the shoot-out challenge on-site and would have loved to take my video home with me. Unfortunately, due to an employee error, it's not available. Even after asking there, they couldn't help me. It's a real shame, as it would have been a great souvenir.

St. Lawrence Market is a renowned foodie destination located in Toronto's historic Old Town district. It has over 100 vendors offering a wide variety of products, including produce, antiques, baked goods, and meats. The market dates back to 1803 and is considered the oldest in Toronto. Visitors can indulge in local favorites such as peameal bacon sandwiches at Carousel Bakery or explore European-style pastries at Future Bakery.
Loved this area. Lively atmosphere, great smells from various food stalls. Wonderful experience. Definitely recommend a visit. We brought various butter tarts and they were heavenly. So much to see (and eat) 😀

Family and I went to this amazing St.Lawrence Market and it was so many shops inside for whatever you need. It had amazing Food options and so many Meats options also. What are the unique thing is how different culture kind of meat and cheese and fruits that were in this Market. The food was so fresh anywhere you tried to eat because it was made fresh right away. We try the pizza place and it was very delicious. The only reason why I give it a four star is because it would have been nice to see some Halal Options in Market as it had None and we had to find Cheese pizza to eat. Also bathroom could been cleaner! Overall Very Amazing and Unique Market to visit.

If you would love to visit local market as a tourist, this is the place to go! It has nice market atmosphere and I see long queue at many shops in the market by locals. It also cater both raw and ready to eat food. So you can buy beef steak to cook in your homestay or buy ready to eat food. Variety range from meat to seafood to fruits to bread to tarts to desserts and even maple syrup! Beautiful atmosphere and nice yummy food.... A nice brunch place and market!

Had a terrific time spending the day browsing St Lawrence Market. Bought an amazingly creative bouquet of flowers to brighten our hotel room. Had a delicious charcuterie lunch made from purchasing items from various vendors. Dessert was the largest berries we’ve ever seen, sweet, juicy, and delicious! Bought some pork belly to bring home after our trip. Purchased wines, a few souvenirs for our kids, generally had a nice day browsing through the enormous market. For reference I’d say it is about six times the size of Pike Place Market in Seattle.

Pretty much every visitor to Toronto knows this market. It's in a class of its own among public markets. Think about the scale, the vibe, the amazing selection and quality of products. You can even eat and drink while you shop—how great is that? On a nice day (if it's not too cold), the outdoor patio is the place to be. It's spacious, with pigeons wandering around, and another market is just across the street. Picture this: you're eating a lobster roll or pasta, feeding the pigeons, enjoying the scenery, and chatting with friends. What a fantastic scene!

A nice place to visit, lots of options for fancy goods, food particularly seafoods, meats, cheese, backed delicacies, sweets and farm produce. Liked the bright, happy vibe and roaming carefree environment. It was Christmas buying time, it added colourfulness. Good for buying souvenirs too.
Basant — Google review
This is probably the best market in town for fresh produce and so much more. For example, you can indulge yourself in all things protein in many shops on the main floor. If you feel more adventurous, you might want to check out the seafood stalls as well. My vegetarian friends will also find their delights. This is one of the oldest and simply best places in Toronto for the freshest food possible. I feel blessed to live nearby and be able to take advantage of this privilege to get the food of my choice at anytime. I especially love the lamb chops and marinated chicken breasts 😊 Highly recommended to all foodies living downtown Toronto.
James S — Google review
Wonderful experience of the oldest market in Canada! There was a booth that has been there since before Canadas birth! The main floor is where fresh food is sold. The lower level has all the international flavours… will visit again. Lively atmosphere… need sitting area in winter. Has a mini-museum in lowest level where the jail used to be.

Jack Layton Ferry Terminal

The Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, named after a former city counselor, provides regular transportation to nearby islands. The fare is approximately $8-9 per person, with a separate line for online ticket holders. However, there may be delays and crowded conditions on weekends. Safety measures are in place, ensuring a secure experience. Restrooms are available at the terminal, as well as on the ferries and islands. Strollers and bicycles can be brought aboard at no additional charge.
Really fast to get in, so organized and cheap. The views are amazing, you definitely must visit. Highly recommended at sunset
AndyPatty B — Google review
Took the Toronto ferry to the islands and had a nice experience overall. On the return trip, no one checked our barcode tickets, at least not for us which was a bit surprising. The island itself has a beautiful beach, open green spaces, and parks where kids can play, making it a great family spot. You can also rent bikes to explore more of the island, which is a fun option. However, most of the shops were closed during our visit, so food choices were very limited. Subway was the only option at the time. It would’ve been great to have more dining or snack spots available.
Susma S — Google review
I had the best day ever. We had the best view of sunset and Toronto Night. Also we had the best picnic spot. From the ferry we got amazing pictures.

Need to replace ticket staff with Presto readers like TTC and UPexpress, and add credit card reader to turnstile. Staff at booth are not interested in customer experience.closing booth while I was standing there with online ticket showing on my phone. Save the ticket expense like Upexpress and etc. card reader at turnstile would work, those without presto or credit card can line up to buy at automated machines away from the entrance
J G — Google review
The ferry schedules are poorly managed, with long wait times. They don’t care how many people are waiting in line or what the weather conditions are. I’d rather spend a little more money and take a water taxi or use another boat service.
Habib R — Google review
Been coming to this ferry terminal for years. It's showing its age with old structures, and old boats. Hopefully things get refreshed when they get the new electric boats. The terminal is busy in the summertime, even on weekdays. Ticket prices have gone up considerably post-pandemic. Cost me over $9.
Allan C — Google review
Get tickets in advance to skip the longer line to get through buying tickets. It saves little bit of time especially when you still have to wait to get on. The ferry ride is nice and does have some great views. Does get packed so getting any sort of good spot will be tough if you didnt get on early. Reason for 3 stars is the wait returning was at least 1hr longer that when the ferry should've came in. The line for getting back was the worst there needs to be a better system than everyone rushing shoulder to shoulder and cutting people off.
John P — Google review
I bought my ferry ticket online, which was very convenient. However, there was no separate line for scanning online tickets because no dedicated counters were open. I had to wait in the same line as everyone else, which didn’t make sense. The staff also seemed unhelpful, speaking very little and making it hard to understand them.

Toronto Islands, a cluster of 13 small islands in Lake Ontario, are easily accessible from downtown Toronto via a short ferry ride. The main islands for visitors are Centre Island, Wards Island, and Hanlan Point. Visitors can enjoy various recreational activities such as walking or biking along the bridges and pathways that connect the islands. There are also swimming beaches, boat rentals, and dining options available on the islands.
We visited Toronto Island about four weeks ago with our family and had a great time. It’s just a short boat ride from the city, but it really feels like you’re getting away from it all. The boat ride was smooth and gave us some amazing views of the Toronto skyline. Once we got to the island, we spent the day walking around, enjoying the peaceful vibe, and just relaxing together. It’s a beautiful spot calm, quiet, and full of nature. Perfect for a family outing. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful, scenic and relaxing! Stunning views of downtown Toronto en route by ferry to this quaint set of interconnected islands. Lovely boardwalk from Ward’s Island to Centre Island. Clean and lifeguard-supervised swimming area on Centre Island. Cute amusement park and gardens. Spend the day or just a few hours.
Kristine B — Google review
Toronto Islands are one of the best places to visit in the city. The view of the skyline from across the water is absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunset. Whether it’s summer or fall, the islands are stunning. There are three islands, each with its own charm. You can take a boat to any of them (check the schedule), or grab a water taxi near Harbourfront for a more relaxing ride. The return trip from the island is free even if you didn’t take the ferry. The are a few beaches which are clean and scenic, perfect for summer days. I highly recommend going on a weekday, ideally in the morning to avoid crowds (it can be VERY crowdy on weekends). On weekdays it is quiet, peaceful, and you might feel like you have the whole place to yourself. The best way to explore is by renting a bike through Bike Share. There are lots of them available. There is also a nice boardwalk on the opposite side of the islands (no bikes permitted though). But the best part is of course the iconic view from Centre Island. There are also a few cafes for a quick snack, plenty of picnic spots, lots of water stations. Overall, Toronto Islands are a must-see!
Daria K — Google review
We ended up catching the ferry to Billy Bishop Airport (~10minutes). From there, we walked to Center Island. It was incredibly crowded for a weekday. Prices were high for pretty much everything. The highlights for us were the little farm, where we got to pet the ponies, donkeys, and goats. We caught the ferry back to the mainland maybe 40 minutes after exploring Center Island.
Dessi D — Google review
I always have a great time on this island—beautiful nature and delicious food. The only thing I didn’t like this time was that some people were going into the fountain pool, which isn’t allowed. Security should take steps to prevent this.

Visited Toronto Island Park around 3 PM in October with friends. We spent about two hours walking around and watched a beautiful sunset. It was a bit cold, and there isn’t much to do during the colder months besides walking, grabbing a coffee or snack at the small café, or checking out the restaurant that was open. The views of the city and lake were great, but overall it’s a quiet, simple experience in the off-season. Also, in winter the ferry doesn’t reach the main island, so you have to walk about 30 minutes to get there
Denis F — Google review
had a great time at Toronto Islands. The place is peaceful and has amazing views of the city skyline. I went during the air show, and watching it from the island was a perfect choice. The planes flying over the water and skyline made it a great experience. We also had a small barbecue there, which added to the fun. The open space, fresh air, and calm surroundings made it a relaxing day. The ferry ride to the island was smooth and easy. Overall, it was a lovely day, good weather, exciting air show, tasty food, and a perfect spot to enjoy nature while still being close to the city.
Krati V — Google review
Beautiful islands to enjoy some quality time with friends and family. It’s an easy ferry ride or water taxi from the harbours. During weekend a very busy place, so a wait for ferry is long. However if you wish to save time, get a water taxi which is quick for some extra dollars. Overall the island is very clean with great sights and activities for everyone. It’s huge with different sides of it. Centre island is the main attraction for a new person or tourist. Easy to walk around or rent a cycle for better experience. Lots of places to get a quick drink or snacks. Lot of signage’s available and its self explanatory. Best views of Toronto skyline from the islands.

We attended the Whiskey weekend and took the tour. A great place and very informative. Bonus was the live music, BBQ, corn hole game, bottle signing, gift shop and the free samples. Definitely going to make this a yearly event. Well worth it.

Forty Creek has been one of my favourite Whisky’s for a while, since the Tariff’s took away Kahlua is no longer obtainable, I decided to try Bolivar’s Coffee Liquor and it is easily a superior product. I always order directly through the distillery and they always get the package to me the next day. This last order was suppose to come with a free 50ml sample of Pickled Vodka that never came in my package, but the shipping is so quick and everything else was right that I don’t really care. The packaging they send the items in is also really nice and ensures the bottles do not ever touch. I hope to get the 3L barrel they sell soon and maybe in the future, get a chance to tour the distillery in Grimsby Ontario.

Forty Creek is an awesome spot to stop if you are looking to purchase, or sample some pretty nice Canadian whiskeys. Brewed right on premises, they have a nice selection from their popular Double Barrel Reserve to their Confederation Oak, and many unique varieties in between. There is something for any whiskey connoisseur. There were specialty items such as their maple flavored whiskey that reminded me of liquid pancakes. Their cream was smooth and delicious as well. Samples were at no charge, but we would have been remiss not not leave a nice tip as the staff was warm, friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting space has gone though some recent renovations and is clean and relaxing. There is a special tasting room available if you book in advance (best for larger groups). There was outdoor seating and a gift shop as well. Restrooms are also on premises. The location is conveniently located just off the QEW in Grimsby, We were in town for a hockey tournament right around the corner and this made for a great stop with the team, in between games. Quite a few bottles left with us to enjoy at home as their products and selections were worth of their purchase price! RECOMMENDATION:. We did not have time, but heard the tour of the facility is well worth it and very informative. We will definitely do this the next time we are in town.
M. K — Google review
We had a terrible experience at Forty Creek Distillery after driving roughly 20 minutes out of our way to visit them. The moment we walked in, we were treated like an inconvenience rather than valued customers. Despite arriving 30 minutes before closing time, they immediately shut down the tasting option and seemed annoyed when we asked to try just one whiskey. The three girls behind the counter had a negative energy and made us feel unwelcome. We were the only customers in the store after a few others left shortly after our arrival, yet they still couldn't be bothered to provide decent service. We ultimately decided not to purchase a bottle from them and will be looking for another local distillery to support. Overall, I was incredibly disappointed with the service at Forty Creek Distillery and would not recommend them to anyone.

I popped in yesterday morning to ask if they sell a gift pack I saw online, in the store. Working with Mackenzie to plan our wedding was a blessing. She put in so much effort to make sure the day was exactly how we wanted it. She quite literally saved the experience for us. The venue flows very well and is so beautiful. We hardly had any decorations because the natural beauty of the vines and the barn were more than enough to give an elegant and warm mood. Vieni also accommodated our need of having two very different cuisines for dinner. They put in extra work to coordinate with the caterer and make sure everything was still elegant and easy for guests. The Airbnb on the property is the cherry on top. It is so well kept and being able to stay on the property the night before makes getting ready in the morning stress free. We had a 'smaller' half Indian wedding (140 people) and the size of the venue was perfect, but we wouldn't suggest more people than that. The path between the vines was perfect for the baraat and the size of the pergola was exactly what we needed for the Indian ceremony. Shout out to our DJ Shane who absolutely killed the whole day!

We had our wedding at Vieni Estate Winery on July 19, 2025, and it was truly exceptional. The venue was beautiful, the food was outstanding, and all the staff and bartenders were professional, friendly, and attentive to our guests. A special thank you to our event coordinator, Mackenzie Cooper, who went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect. Mackenzie’s dedication and support made the planning process stress-free and the wedding day seamless. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team—thank you, Vieni, for making our wedding day unforgettable. Libby and David

My now wife and I just had our wedding at Vieni…. All I can say is wow. Amazing staff, amazing venue, amazing food and drinks, everything exceeded every expectation my wife and I had for our special day. Mackenzie and Megan were absolutely phenomenal in keeping our day organized and on track, the entire Vieni team absolutely killed it. The BnB was also an awesome feature of this venue, we loved being able to stay on site with some of our best friends and family. Thank you guys so much for making our special day perfect!!

We just had our wedding at Vieni in June and can’t recommend it enough! It really is the most stunning wedding venue. After touring multiple venues, the moment we saw Vieni we knew it would be perfect, and it was!! The whole process and experience was so smooth thanks to Mackenzie and her team. Our guests have continued to complement how beautiful the venue is, how delicious the food was and how flawless the day went!! What really topped it off was being able to stay on the property the night before in the b&b which was the most beautiful and fun space for everyone getting ready in the morning and was perfect for pictures. Mackenzie was amazing during the entire planning process. She is so helpful and patient and really cares about making sure your day is perfect. They are so organized and really know how to make sure everything is flawless. Thank you so much for making our day amazing!! 💕

I could not recommend Vieni enough. We had the most amazing wedding experience there. Mackenzie and Megan were the ultimate dynamic duo. They were so accomodating to make anything we could want happen and truly I don’t think I could have gotten through the day without Mackenzie, she was there for it all, while still providing a calm, cool demeanor. All our guests have been commenting about how perfect everything was, how the food was amazing, the cocktail hour was delicious, the venue was outstanding and the ceremony spot was beautiful. The bar staff were incredible, we just named our signature cocktails and they executed them perfectly. It was truly the perfect day and it was all thanks to Vieni. Worth every second and the months of planning!!

The staff are super helpful and friendly and their wines are delicious!! What makes me really appreciate Vieni are their non wine drinks like the happy hour or facionably late that mix wine with spirits and will be coming back for them!

Step back in time and embrace the joy of childhood at the Lakeside Park Carousel. This iconic carousel features over 68 intricately carved animals, including camels, horses, giraffes, goats, and lions, as well as four charming chariots crafted between 1898 and 1905. The nostalgic music from an antique Frati adds to the enchanting atmosphere.
Very nice area. The water was wonderful and my kids really enjoyed it. This is also a great fishing spot. Beach area is small, washrooms and change rooms are available. 3 hour max parking for approx $10. The parking area is a zoo, lol. There's also a park area for the kids to play. There's also a beautiful board walk. I call it lovers lane lol

A beautiful old carousel by the lake! The kids had a great time and it felt like stepping back in time for just five cents. Some of the original animals are still there. We also enjoyed the beach. The water was nice and the kids had lots of fun! Only challenge is getting a parking nearby.

Date of visit: June 28, 2025 A Magical Ride Through Time in Port Dalhousie Step into a piece of living history at the Lakeside Park Carousel, a beautifully restored LOOF treasure that’s been delighting visitors for generations. For just 5 cents a ride, you can hop aboard one of the hand-carved wooden animals and enjoy the charm of this century-old masterpiece. The craftsmanship is stunning, the setting by the lake is picturesque, and the ride is pure joy—whether you’re five or fifty. It’s a popular spot, but don’t worry: lines move quickly thanks to the efficient and friendly staff. A must-visit for families, history lovers, and anyone who appreciates a little old-fashioned magic.

Timeless treasure in the Niagara Region. Many beloved childhood memories here and I am delighted to return as an adult. Everyone can enjoy a piece of history with the Lakeside Park Carousel – and please consider donating so it can be enjoyed by future generations 🩷

The carousel is right by the beach, surrounded by trees and picnic areas, so it’s easy to make a whole family outing of it. The music and hand-carved horses give it a nostalgic feel, and it’s always well maintained thanks to the city and volunteers. Parking is available nearby, and washrooms are close by in the park. It’s busiest on sunny weekends, but the line moves quickly. Whether you’re visiting with kids or just want a bit of old-fashioned fun, this is a must-see stop in Port Dalhousie — timeless, affordable, and full of heart.

This carrousel I believe is the oldest one in the country. It is iconic and a wonderful piece of history still cost only a nickel and it’s situated at Lakeside Park the popular Rush song it talks about Lakeside Park, beautiful beach, and park and a lot of amenities around there from dining to exploring solid five out of five in Port falhousie would highly recommend once you’re finished navigating around the park you can walk the pier to have a great vantage point of some of the best sunsets around. Great place to visit whether you are a local or a tourist.!

Date of Visit: Saturday, June 28, 2025 If you're looking for a wholesome, relaxing way to spend a few hours, Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm is a must-visit. Nestled along the shores of Lake Ontario, this charming spot offers a mix of nature, history, and animal encounters that’s perfect for all ages. We were delighted to see a variety of farm animals available for adoption, including cows, horses, donkeys, pigs, and ducks—all well cared for and clearly loved. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about animal care and even consider giving one a forever home. Beyond the barnyard, we explored the waterfront walking trail, which winds through peaceful greenery and offers beautiful lake views. One of the most moving parts of our visit was the 9/11 Memorial Walk, where trees are dedicated to individuals—many from the local area—who lost their lives in the 2001 attacks. It’s a quiet, reflective space that adds a meaningful layer to the experience. The grounds are clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. Whether you're visiting with kids, friends, or just looking for a solo stroll, this place offers a refreshing break from the bustle of everyday life. Final Thoughts: A hidden gem that combines education, remembrance, and the simple joy of connecting with animals and nature. Don’t miss it if you’re in the Niagara region! There is plenty of onsite parking – but as this place is often used for birthday parties, and has frequent visitors, the lot can get full and street parking needs to be used. It is free to visit.

Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm – A Family Treasure by the Lake Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm is such a special place where the love for animals, family time, and nature all come together. It’s both a sanctuary for rescued animals and a welcoming spot for families to relax, play, and connect with the outdoors. The farm is home to a variety of animals including a deaf pig 🐖, cow 🐄, goats 🐐, sheep 🐑, horses 🐴 (a mother and her baby), ducks 🦆, geese 🪿, and more. Over the years I’ve also seen llamas, chickens, and other animals. It’s heartwarming to know each one has found a safe place here. While dogs aren’t allowed in the animal area, they are welcome on the trails outside, so you can still enjoy a walk with your pup. The property itself is stunning—tucked into a natural forest 🌳, surrounded by tall old trees and overlooking the lake. It’s the perfect spot for a hike or picnic 🧺 with the whole family. A scenic trail winds past three connected ponds that lead to the lake, home to geese, ducks, and turtles 🐢. Families with children will especially love the large playground. It’s spacious and well-designed, with swings for babies, bigger kids, and even accessible swings for children with disabilities. There are five different slides 🛝, a tractor 🚜, a boat swing 🛶, and interactive games like loops and hooks. Picnic tables—some shaded—make it easy to enjoy a meal outdoors, and the washrooms are big and clean. Another unique feature is the lakeside memorial walk, which honors the lives lost on 9/11 with dedicated trees and plaques—a peaceful and meaningful space to sit on the benches and reflect while overlooking the lake. Parking is never a problem, with plenty of spaces both on-site and nearby street parking. All in all, Happy Rolph’s is more than just an animal farm—it’s a place where kids can play, families can bond, animals are cared for, and everyone can enjoy the beauty of nature. I’ve been visiting for several years, and it continues to be one of my favorite local spots to return to. Please donate to this amazing cause and become part of this wonderful community so we can all help to make it possible to create something special for all to enjoy and help to save animals in need.

Happy Rolphs is truly at the core of family and simple pleasures. Gorgeous walkway and sunset, tons of ducks, turtles, a resident skunk and of course all the little petting zoo animals. It has a huge playground for kids that looks to be updated annually because all the equipment looks brand new. I came here as a kid, and I love it still in my adulthood

It was a great experience at Happy Rolph’s Animal Farm. The animals look nice and healthy. The area with the animals is a little small, but the farm itself and the trails are quite big. There are a lot of geese on the trails, so beware of that. There is a free parking and even on Sunday there were free spaces. Additionally no tickets are needed.

Happy Rolph’s is a whimsical little animal farm! It was decorated for Halloween when we went and all the critters were busy having dinner. It’s free (they accept donations) and there’s a short trail that goes out to Lake Ontario as well.

The St. Catharines Museum & Welland Canals Centre is a small yet captivating museum that offers a deep dive into the history of St. Catharines and the creation of the Welland Canal. Situated at Lock 3, visitors can explore local history exhibits and learn about the impressive engineering behind the canal. The museum also features an elevated observation platform where you can watch ships navigating through the canal system, providing a unique and educational experience for both kids and adults.
Date of visit Thursday may 1st, 2025 History in Motion! 🥍 🚢 Our visit to the St. Catharines Museum & Welland Canals Centre was an absolute highlight of our trip to explore the area around the Welland Canal and the many communities that it runs through. This place offers an experience that’s equal parts historic, scenic, and totally unique. The grounds are beautifully maintained, making it a peaceful and inviting spot to wander. But the true showstopper is the canal viewing platform, where we got front-row seats to watch massive ships navigate Lock 3 of the Welland Canal. Watching those vessels rise and lower is nothing short of mesmerizing—a real testament to human engineering and perseverance. Inside the museum, the exhibits are thoughtfully curated, covering a wide range of topics, from regional heritage to the remarkable history of the canal itself. We especially loved the Lacrosse Hall of Fame, a hidden gem within the museum that celebrates the deep-rooted cultural and sporting significance of Canada’s national summer sport. It's interactive, educational, and gives the game the spotlight it deserves. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a ship buff, or just looking for a unique stop in Niagara, this spot is a winner. We left feeling inspired, a little more informed, and already talking about a return visit. It was the perfect spot to start our Welland Canal History Road trip. There is ample free parking on site, and admission to the museum is 100% donations. Pay what you can afford to give.

What a beautiful and interesting place to learn about the history and how the Welland Canal works. It's also an excellent spot to discover and get familiar with one of Canada's national sports: lacrosse. The view of the canal from the observation deck is spectacular, and if you're lucky enough to see a ship in that water lock during your visit, the experience becomes even more impressive. The facility includes clean restrooms, large parking lot, gift shop, audio-visual room, rentable event spaces, picnic tables, an adjacent playground, and a beautiful memorial honoring the many workers who lost their lives over the canal's 200-year history.

The St. Catharines Museum & Welland Canals Centre is one of those local gems that beautifully blends history, engineering marvels, and quiet charm. I stopped by on a sunny afternoon and was pleasantly surprised at how much there was to see and learn—especially for a museum that often flies under the radar compared to other Niagara-area attractions. The museum itself is well-curated, offering a deep dive into the history of St. Catharines and the vital role the Welland Canal played (and still plays) in Canada’s transportation story. I especially enjoyed the exhibits on early shipping, local industry, and the stories of the people who built and lived around the canal. But the real magic is outside, on the viewing platform. Watching the massive cargo ships pass through Lock 3, right in front of you, is absolutely mesmerizing. You get a true sense of scale and the incredible engineering that goes into canal navigation. It’s great for kids and adults alike—you can spend a peaceful hour just ship-watching. Your kids can borrow a backpack of explorer. It is free and welcome for donation. The staff are friendly and informative, and the building is clean and accessible, with plenty of parking. Whether you’re a history buff, an engineering fan, or just curious, this museum is well worth the visit.

Visited St. Catherine’s Museum & Welland Local Canal with my family. The complex consist of three areas. The museum itself showcasing the brief history of St Catherine & how the region became an important hub for ship commercial passage from the man made welland series of lock canal. The other part is viewing platform where you can see big ships fit into the locks & follow the process of filling up the water into the lock. Lastly a souvenir shops and information centre at the main entrance of the museum. When we reached it started raining, so we were hardly outside at the viewing platform to see the ship’s height rises as the water fills in the locks. A good experience to witness how the ship travels through the locks starting from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. Overall we spend 3 hours in the Museum and covered all the sightseeing in the museum complex.
Singhania G — Google review
A fabulous museum of not only the Welland Canal (impressive in its own right) but also of the town of St. Catherine’s. It’s an absolute credit to the town and the museum founders/staff/managers to have the foresight and dedication to amass such a wealth of history and their culture from colonial times right up to modern history. Excellently preserved classic cars, lacrosse history, but the small stuff too e.g. a display in the towns Soap Box derby which ran I. The 60s & 70s. I could have stayed here for hours. Best to time your visit to coincide with some of the big ships passing through the canal (check the ship tracking apps/websites) and then check out the museum, all of which is free.

The Welland Canal is a ship canal in Ontario, Canada, connecting Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. It forms a key section of the St. Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes Waterway. Traversing the Niagara Peninsula from Port Weller in St. Catharines to Port Colborne, it enables ships to ascend and descend the Niagara Escarpment and bypass Niagara Falls. It is the fourth canal connecting these waterways; three smaller predecessors also bore the same name. The Welland Canal eclipsed other, narrower canals in the region, such as the Trent-Severn Waterway and, significantly, the Erie Canal (which linked the Atlantic and Lake Erie via New York City and Buffalo, New York) by providing a shorter, more direct connection to Lake Erie. The southern, Lake Erie terminus of the canal is 99.5 metres (326 feet) higher than the northern terminus on Lake Ontario. The canal includes eight 24.4-metre-wide (80 ft) ship locks.Seven of the locks (Locks 1–7, the 'Lift' locks) are 233.5 m (766 ft) long and raise (or lower) passing ships by between 13 and 15 m (43 and 49 ft) each. The southernmost lock, (Lock 8 – the 'Guard' or 'Control' lock) is 349.9 m (1,148 ft) in length. The Garden City Skyway passes over the canal, restricting the maximum height of the masts of the ships allowed on this canal to 35.5 m (116 ft).

When visiting Port Colborne, a must-see attraction is the Port Promenade located on West Street. This well-maintained boardwalk offers stunning views of Lock 8, the southernmost lock of the Welland Canal and Lake Erie. The promenade is lined with boutique stores where visitors can find unique gifts and enjoy artisanal chocolate or a quick bite to eat. It's a picturesque spot to watch ships passing through the canal while enjoying the beautifully landscaped surroundings.
Port Promenade was the best part of our day trip to Port Colborne! The sun was shining and it was warming up a bit on the chilly October day that we went. This is where we got the best view of some really big ships going along the canal ... probably the biggest I've ever seen in my entire life! It appeared they wouldn't make it through the locks, but they did! It was such a nice walk along the water and there were lots of lovely shops lining the street on the opposite side. We ventured into the gift shop and the jewellery store where the workers were very knowledgeable and helpful. It was so nice to sit down in the Adirondack/Muskoka chairs afterwards and just enjoy the peace and tranquility. It was a great way to end a wonderful day! 😊👍💜
