Nature & Parks
Dinosaur Provincial Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Alberta, is a sprawling park known for its abundance of dinosaur fossils and diverse wildlife. The park offers campsites with stunning vistas and opportunities for fossil casting classes, dinosaur digs, and family programming at the Visitors Centre. With over 58 different dinosaur species' fossils discovered here, including more than 500 specimens displayed in museums worldwide, it's a must-visit destination for paleontology enthusiasts.
One of my favourite campgrounds to visit is the Dinosaur Provincial Park in the badlands of Alberta. It’s an eerie yet fascinating environment where you can explore the many trails throughout the park and view hoodoos amongst the hills and valleys while imagining the prehistoric creatures that roamed through the very same landscape that you are camped at. Definitely worth the visit.

This is an amazing park to visit. The camping is great. It's family-friendly with a playground as well. There are on-site showers, and the bathrooms are all recently renovated and clean. The views and surroundings are like nowhere else in Alberta. Such a gorgeous place.
Amanda — Google review
This is an amazing provincial park, a must visit! The views are stunning, and the hikes are out of this world! The parking is free of charge as well is the entrance to the park. The main building has a restaurant and a very small convenience store. There are washrooms on location and showers (camping).
Gerry G — Google review
Nice place for a day trip if you like a history and want to know about dinosaurs. You can do camping here. Nice restaurants offered good food options. Approximately 3 km circle drive will cover the park and there is a multiple trails with easier to hard you can do in between if you want to explore little bit more. Avoid during rainy day or season.
Kirtikumar C — Google review
Amazing experience and well worth the visit. The guided tour starting at fossil display one was a great learning experience. 3 hours hike in the badlands to a dinosaur bone bed. Our guide Andre was both entertaining and a dinosaur walking encyclopedia. Highly recommended. The campground was comfortable, and all facilities well maintained
Robert S — Google review
Once in a lifetime experience! Definitely worth the detour. Not busy in May. The campground wasn’t open yet, but still a nice hike along the trails. Great views and photoshoot opportunities. Bring lots of sunscreens and water.
Kevin D — Google review
Stayed 3 nights. Amazing views all over the park. Trails were great. Outhouses are located near camp sites and are well lit. Service centre is fantastic. Nice little bistro serving all sorts of delicious as well as needed pantry items. Showers are very clean cost of $1 for 2 minutes. Laundry room is clean $2 each machine. Visitor centre is lovely, gift shop is nicely stocked. Doggo friendly, keep furry friend leashed and clean up after them. * atm machine is located in the service centre but must get coins from visitor centre.
Scarlet V — Google review
Such an amazing place! Definitely recommend the trip out. The views are phenomenal, and the guided tours at the interpretive center are worth it 100% (our group had Dustin; he's fantastic, and has such great energy!) I'll definitely be taking my family back here for more camping 😁

Such a beautiful park!! It was super cool to see such a large natural spring. Very accessible and clean, can walk down the trail going alongside the river for a while. Just watch out for geese 🤣

It was beautiful and educational. The show pond had the biggest trout I have ever seen! The spring was so clean and clear. Lots of shade in the park too!

Great place for a walk along the Missouri River. Good mix of paved and unpaved trails. Interesting spring that feeds into the river. The ranger running the office the day I visited was very friendly. I'd return if in the area again.

The fish looked pretty worse for wear.. otherr than that it was lovely. Hiking and walking from very easy time to somewhat challenging.

Giant Springs State Park is beautiful. the clear, bubbling springs and the gorgeous views of the Missouri River were awesome. The park is so well-kept, with easy trails that are perfect for a peaceful walk or a family adventure. The fish hatchery was such a fun surprise, and learning about the springs' history made the visit even more special. Whether you're into hiking, picnicking, or just soaking in the beauty of nature, this place has it all. If you're in Great Falls, don't miss out on this incredible spot!

The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center

Museum
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled on a scenic bluff overlooking the majestic Missouri River, the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Great Falls serves as a captivating tribute to one of America's most iconic explorations. This spacious museum invites visitors to embark on an immersive journey through the 1804-06 expedition led by Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. With engaging exhibits that trace their remarkable 8,000-mile trek across western North America, guests can delve into the rich history of this monumental adventure.
A great museum for adults, I think it wouldn't be as fun for kids. This is a beautiful building in a gorgeous location! We paid and went right in to the theater. The video was not too long and very informative. The main part of the museum is downstairs and it was easy to follow the path from room to room. There are some really great artifacts and pictures. My favorites were the earth house and log boat. There was a lot of reading but if you're interested in the topic it was all very interesting and worthwhile. I would love to come back in summer and do some of the paths in the area. There is a gift shop but I can't say it has a lot of ready stuff, pretty basic. Overall a great experience and worth the visit.
Melissa J — Google review
We were traveling through on our way to Alaska and stopped here to visit the center. Amazing! There is afee to enter, however if you hold the America the Beautiful pass, senior pass or military pass, or any of the other federal passes, you enter for free. The history here was so enlightening. We learned things we did not know. They have movies throughout the day on different subjects. We arched the one on the Portage. So interesting. You can enter the theater from the upper or lower level. The exhibits in the center were very informative. The exhibits are mostly on the lower level. There are stairs or you can take an elevator. There are items of interest outside and a fantastic walking path along the Missouri River. The staff was so wonderful. There is also a small gift shop. I collect magnets so I was able to pick one up. There is a great covered picnic area over near the teepee that you can enjoy lunch or a snack. After we visited the center, we knew we had to drive out to the Great Falls waterfall, which we wouldn't have known about if we hadn't stopped here. If you are coming to stay in Great Falls or just passing through, you really need to stop here.
Donna S — Google review
Interesting presentation of Lewis and Clark's expedition across untamed America. It covers the incredibly difficult and brutal conditions these men endured crossing the continent.
D Z — Google review
This was an excellent Lewis and Clark exhibit! We have been traveling the Lewis and Clark trail and have visited many different centers. This is the most complete, covering all parts and days of the voyage. Great for kids too!
Kris V — Google review
Arguably the best part of this museum is the staff (the same does not apply to the gift shop staff … that was a bad experience) they were knowledgeable, fun, and really seemed to enjoy their jobs. Aside from the staff, the museum itself was well done. The exhibits were well explained and told the story of Lewis and Clark with clarity. One item of note, at the end of exhibits are a few cases of guns, go to that case and look at the top most gun at the front. That’s a replica of the repeating air rifle, a true marvel of engineering and what the Indians were shown as Lewis and Clark traveled. Imagine seeing a rifle that didn’t need gunpowder, was quiet when shot, and didn’t create muzzle flash. That’d be fairly amazing to see in a world of muzzle loaded weapons. Anyway, highly recommend place to visit.
Alain G — Google review
I had an excellent experience here. The museum has lots of very interesting exhibits, and all of the descriptions are very well made. I learned a lot of the local history just from my short visit, but I could have been entertained there all day. I highly recommend, and I will be stopping by again to check out some areas I missed.
Aubrey K — Google review
CLOSED!! Looks to be very nice, the walk is very cute. The center is closed as of yesterday because of the gov shutdown

It's an amazing place to visit. One of the best on the entire trail. Good for adults, children, history buffs, and families. It's a must-see in Great Falls!

Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park

Mentioned on

State park
Nature & Parks
Park
Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park is a stunning destination offering guided tours of vast limestone caverns, as well as picturesque trails, picnic spots, and a well-equipped campground. The park has seen recent improvements including a new visitors center. The classic tour led by experienced guides offers breathtaking views along the way and interesting facts about the area. However, it's important to note that the tour is physically demanding with steep ascents and challenging maneuvers within the caves.
We loved the main cavern tour. We hiked about 3/4 of a mile up the paved trail to the cavern opening. There were a lot of stairs but as active seniors, we could do it without difficulty. There are some tight places and a lot of crouching so as not to hit your head. The rooms were full of stalagmites and stalactites, rock shaped like ribbons of bacon, popcorn, and columns. It was incredible to see and photograph. We loved our experience. There is another tour that is more accessible for younger kids and mobility challenged people.
Linda R — Google review
I had a really great experience with our guild Dean on the moderate tour. He was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor but very stern when we weren't to touch something. Now the view of the surrounding area from up top at the cave entrance was just amazing. Definitely recommend a must go see.
Tom R — Google review
We took the “Classic Tour” at 11 a.m. Our guide Huckleberry was a nice mix between informative, funny & smooth. He led the entire 2 hours tour with knowledge & dedication. We always felt in good hands & safe during the entire tour. The tour itself was quite impressive. Exploring those caves and learning about how they started to exist and developed was interesting and informative. I can recommend experiencing this part of Montana’s cave history.
Lobo M — Google review
Beautiful scenic drive up to the caverns. Paradise Tour is decent but only takes you a short distance into the cavern. The outside walk to the cavern is longer than the walk inside the cavern. Beautiful views inside the cavern but the majority of the tour is standing and listening to the very knowledgeable guide about the interesting cavern history. Would recommend the longer tour and would recommend purchasing tickets prior to arrival as tours do sell out. Nice cafe with very tasty food. Highly recommend the Bison Burger, fresh side salad and Huckleberry Soda💜
Stacie P — Google review
We did the classic 2 hour/2 mile cavern tour. Be prepared to go up and down many stairs. First 3/4 of a mile is spent going uphill 300 ft. You have 15 to 20 minutes to get it done or they may send you back. No children are allowed on this tour. Also, no bags of any kind allowed, with the exception of a needed medical one. The staff were all friendly and Rachel, our tour guide, did a fine job. There is a gentler Paradise Tour that is for children and guests with limited mobility. It is shorter in time and distance.
Debi T — Google review
Wow! And wow! I know a lot of people did not discover this place yet but if you ever came across to Montana. You’ve got to visit this beautiful cave it is amazing and beyond amazing. The picture cannot even justify. I would say highly, highly recommended this tour you will love it.
Merna T — Google review
We took the Paradise tour. Very informational, and our guide was entertaining (I believe her name is Bridget? She was awesome!) however the 2 rooms you see are pretty much right as you enter the caverns past the doors, I guess I expected a little more walking around, but all the formations are amazing nonetheless! We would love to go back and take the Classic tour!
Bailey M — Google review
We did the two hour classic tour for the umpteenth time it did not disappoint. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and introduced a lot of humor to the tour. The food at the café was great. There is ample parking. There are outdoor kennels to keep your dogs shaded and watered. The caverns themselves are absolutely stunning. If you do the classic tour, there is a brief uphill hike and the tour itself is about two hours. You do not get to see the paradise room with this tour you do however get to see everything else. Having done both if I were to choose one, the classic tour is much better than the paradise tour. If you are a native Montana and have not been to the caverns, shame on you!

Our entire group had one of the best times here at Montana Whitewater! We had the 2 best instructors, Chance and Autumn. They made the trip even more enjoyable and we had such a good time. They were very knowledgeable and super friendly. Would definitely recommend Montana Whitewater to anyone looking to zip line. We will be back to do the bigger zip line soon! Thank you Chance and Autumn, hopefully we can request you both next time.

Alyssa and Jackson were super fun and knowledgeable guides for our Ziplining adventure! I highly recommend them as guides. We had a blast. Brandon was our guide on our whitewater rafting trip. He was amazing and navigated us thru some fun class III and IV waters. Overall Montana Whitewater Rafting & Zipline teams were GREAT! The ladies at the front desk were super helpful and kind. All the guides work together to make our two-part day an incredible adventure! Thank you Alyssa, Jackson, Brandon and Olivia!!! You all are the best! <3 Carnivals

10/10 recommend! We did a double experience and did zip lining first with Jackson and Alyssa! They were AWESOME and made sure everyone had a blast! They were also so very patient when our youngest couldn’t make it up the ladder and had to go down! Thank yall! Then we headed over for white water rafting! Our crew got partnered up with Tim! We had a blast going down the river and hitting some awesome rapids! One thing I would like to add the process of being able to purchase and get your photos automatically airdropped to your phone was GREAT!!

An unforgettable experience on the Gallatin River! I went whitewater rafting with Montana Whitewater Rafting Co. in June 2025, and it was hands down one of the most thrilling experiences I’ve had in Montana. We opted for the “less challenging” route, but it still gave us plenty of excitement... waves crashing, hearts racing, and laughter all the way through. At one point, I almost fell out during a rapid, and a big splash sent the kid next to me disappearing between the seats (inside the boat, thankfully!). Our guide, Cole Mosher, was absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable, funny, and made us feel safe the entire time. He even encouraged us to try the more advanced route next time... but after seeing a massive rock on our way back, I'm still "thinking about it" 🥶🥶😅 And shoutout to their team for snapping some epic action shots. We looked like pros out there...well, almost 🌝

Maya and Saylor on the ziplines, Aiden on the whitewater, awesome, awesome guides. So fun and good with kids too! We had an absolute blast of a day! Thank you so much. Will definately visit again next time through!

Booked this adventure last minute! What a great experience! We did both adventures Tall Tim, our rafting guide, gave us girls the wettest ride we've ever been on!! Highly recommended!! 2nd adventure, we Ziplined! I cannot recall the names of our guides. One was blonde, one was Brunette, both super adorable and made the whole experience memorable! Thank you to you two for being great at what you do!!

Absolutely amazing experience with Montana Whitewater and our incredible guide, Julia! We had such a blast out on the Gallatin River and through the Mad Mile. It’s truly breathtaking, and the perfect mix of adrenaline and natural beauty. Julia is a total pro. She made the ride exciting, fun, and most importantly, safe. You can tell she loves what she does, and it made the whole adventure even better. They provide everything you need, from gear to guidance, and the entire crew was friendly and professional. The cherry on top? The photos! Captured by a professional photographer, they’re incredible and such a great way to remember the day. Can’t recommend this enough, we’ll definitely be back!

I work as one of the Managers at one of Big Sky's well known hotels that refer our guests to Montana Whitewater all the time but had personally experienced it until last week when I got to with my daughter and grand children last week who were visiting me for the week. What a great experience Montana Whitewater provides us thrill seekers! Over top experience all the way around, from start to finish and our guide Owen was the icing on the cake, great guy! You don't need to miss this true Montana experience! Highly recommended!

Nestled in the breathtaking Montana wilderness, Big Sky Resort is a premier mountain destination that promises an unforgettable experience for outdoor enthusiasts. With an impressive 300 ski runs spread across 5,850 acres, it caters to all skill levels—from thrilling couloirs and snowfields for seasoned skiers to gentle groomers perfect for families. The resort boasts stunning views from the summit of Lone Peak, which towers at 11,166 feet and offers vertical drops of up to 4,100 feet.
Beautiful views. I highly recommend taking the lifts for the views. We went with young children as little as 3 years old and felt completely safe. I wish we could have explored more or did some hiking. Maybe when the kids get a bit older.

Big Sky Ski Resort is AMAZING! I have skied here before, and it has incredible terrain and beauty. Today in September I am here to do some hiking and take the lifts up. I want to give a special thanks to Calvin and the entire crew at Big Sky. EVERY single person I encountered (lift operators, ticket booth, etc.) was WONDERFUL! The employees here are world-class. Big Sky Ski Resort is lucky to have them, and they should be rewarded for every 5-star review posted. They are all incredibly kind, smart, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and hard-working. I had a mishap, and Calvin and his crew handled it so beautifully. I was able to truly enjoy my visit here because of them!
Paula M — Google review
We stayed here for a day during our Yellowstone and Grand Teton trip, and while the check-in experience with the front desk and bell boy was excellent, our overall impression was ruined at checkout. After leaving, we were hit with a surprise $4.50 charge. When I contacted customer service, a person named Jeff claimed it was for a water bottle from the room. This is absolutely false — we never used or even noticed any such bottle. We carried our own water the entire trip. His explanation that “the bottle was on the table, not in the fridge” makes no sense, and frankly comes across as an excuse to justify an unjustified charge. It’s shocking and disappointing that a place with otherwise nice staff and a serene environment would spoil a guest’s experience with such petty, dishonest practices. Pros: Nice front desk and bell boy service, calm surroundings. Cons: Very limited vegetarian food options, and worst of all — hidden charges after checkout. Lesson learned: Always take photos when you check in and out, because there are bad elements that try to take advantage. This was the worst checkout experience I’ve had in years of traveling, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who values honesty and transparency. BTW poor rating because of billing customer service
Naresh R — Google review
It was so quiet and peaceful foxes were outside frolicking in the fresh snow. We actually were the only people who were staying at the resort at the time and it was a really magical experience. I don’t recommend you dry your clothes there though it’s five dollars a load.
Raushanna R — Google review
The mountain itself is great for advanced level to expert level skiers, but the prices here are egregiously expensive. Their lift ticket prices on poor weather days are like $300/day, and it goes beyond $400/day on good days. You can't get on the gondola to access the entire mountain less you pay another $100. You can't even get lunch at the mountain without making a reservation for lunch at the top of the ski hill. The hotel prices at the resort also start at about $700/night and there are no public transit options in town, so you have to pay the excessive rate or pay for an expensive rental car and an expensive hotel/airbnb in town.

Stayed there for the Rut Run. Wonderful hotel and service from front desk , valet, concierge and housekeeping was outstanding. Everyone was super friendly and totally gets the concept of customer service. The location couldn't be better for the run.

MTB trails were a ton of fun, even though we had some shutdowns due to lightning in the vicinity. Trails could do with a little more work to get rid of all the chatter bumps into corners, but those that did have fresh dirt were incredible. Well worth the lift ticket prices for a day on the trails!

One of the best mountains in the U.S, tell your friends it sucked. Great snow, terrain, friendly staff and average pricing. Only issue (which has gotten better) is tram Access. Now its included with a day ticket which is a huge improvement but it should be available on all season passes yes even the green.

Ousel Falls Park & Trailhead is a hidden gem nestled in the Black Hills National Forest, offering miles of great hiking, beautiful lakes, and plenty of mountain peaks to climb. The park features several popular trails including Beehive Basin Trail and Ousel Falls Trail. The latter leads to a stunning waterfall that is easily accessible via a paved trail, making it suitable for all visitors. Along the way, hikers can enjoy picturesque views of the surrounding nature.
Nice and super clean walking trail. Like everything in these area in a super good condition. You just can park in the beginning of the trail. It’s about 30 - 45 Minutes, depending on the amount of fotos you’re taking. Inside the trail it’s a bit cooler, no need of hiking shoes or something like that, normal sneaker shoes can do it easily

Super easy hike! The trail was very maintained and smooth. We saw people easily pushing their baby strollers on the pathway. It's worth stopping to see if you are in the area. The entire hike is in the shade.

This was a nice, short hike. The elevation gain wasn't too bad. There were quite a few people there but it wasn't crowded. The falls at the end are beautiful!

Beautiful hike and gorgeous falls at the end. Easy trails, though some elevation involved. Definitely check them out if you are in the Big Sky area.

Found this great hike & falls heading home from yellowstone en route to Bozeman. What a gem! Nice wide trail, able to walk dogs. Beautiful! It's evident the community came together to enhance this natural falls for a shared safe experience. resource

If you want to get your steps in and explore nature take this 1.6 mile trek to Ousel Falls. A spectacular view of falls in the middle of nature, checks your activity boxes while you stroll up and down on a medium level walk. If you want more steps start your walk in Big Sky Village and at 2 miles. That’s what we did.

Enjoyable and easy trail near Big Sky town center. A little bit up and downhill, a waterfall at the bottom. Nice tree cover.
Leslie T — Google review
Beautiful moderate difficulty, shorter hike with scenic views. This is a beautiful hike in Big Sky with a nice water fall at the end. There's some moderate elevation change but it's a very well maintained path the entire way. You follow a stream back up to the falls and get a wonderful view there. Couple of spots to stop on the way and have a picnic. I believe the round trip was about 3 miles give or take. Worth it for a relatively short, easy hike.

Earthquake Lake

Sights & Landmarks
Earthquake Lake, also known as Quake Lake, is a stunning natural wonder that was formed by a massive earthquake in 1959. The earthquake triggered an 80-million ton landslide that dammed the Madison River and created the picturesque lake. Visitors can explore the area's fascinating history at the visitor center and hike along scenic trails to take in the breathtaking scenery.
Now, don't get me wrong, Earthquake Lake is gorgeous. Those towering cliffs, the crystal-clear water... breathtaking! But let's be real, the name kinda throws you off. I mean, you're paddling along, enjoying the serenity, and then you remember, 'Oh yeah, this place got shaken to its core at some point.' Makes you wonder if that serene cliff face might decide to have a little temper tantrum while you're picnicking. Still, gotta admire nature's sense of humor – 'Here's a paradise, but just to keep things interesting, we'll add a touch of seismic drama!'
Vagabond C — Google review
A Natural Marvel Born of Tragedy. Earthquake Lake, locally known as Quake Lake, is a picturesque yet poignant reminder of nature's raw power, located in the Madison Canyon of southwestern Montana, about 27 miles northwest of West Yellowstone. This stunning body of water was formed in the wake of a devastating earthquake on August 17, 1959. Today, it stands as both a natural wonder and a memorial to the lives lost in the disaster. Formation and Historical Significance: Earthquake Lake was created when a massive 7.5 magnitude earthquake caused an enormous landslide, damming the Madison River and resulting in the creation of the lake. The landslide carried 80 million tons of rock and debris, burying a campground and blocking the river's flow, causing the water to rise rapidly and form the lake. Tragically, 28 people lost their lives in the earthquake and subsequent landslide, and the event dramatically altered the landscape. Geological and Hydrological Features: Size and Depth: Earthquake Lake stretches approximately 6 miles in length and covers an area of about 1,200 acres. It reaches depths of up to 190 feet. Landslide Scarp: The sheer cliff left behind by the landslide is a striking geological feature, illustrating the sheer force of the event. The scarp towers over the lake, providing a dramatic backdrop and a visual reminder of the earthquake’s impact. "Ghost Trees": One of the lake’s most haunting and distinctive features is the stand of dead trees that emerge from its waters. These "ghost trees" were submerged when the valley flooded and now serve as stark, skeletal reminders of the forest that once thrived in the canyon. Ecological and Recreational Aspects: Wildlife Habitat: Earthquake Lake and its surrounding area support a diverse range of wildlife, including deer, elk, moose, and various bird species. The lake’s ecosystem is rich with aquatic life, making it a popular spot for fishing, particularly for species like trout. Recreation: Visitors to Earthquake Lake can engage in various recreational activities such as boating, fishing, and hiking. The area offers stunning views, and the unique landscape provides ample opportunities for photography and nature observation. Visitor Center: The Earthquake Lake Visitor Center, operated by the U.S. Forest Service, offers educational exhibits and detailed accounts of the earthquake and its aftermath. It features displays of geological phenomena, survivor stories, and a viewing area overlooking the lake and landslide area. The center provides valuable insights into the natural history and ongoing geological processes of the region. Accessibility and Surroundings: Scenic Byway: Earthquake Lake is accessible via the scenic Highway 287, which runs through the Madison River Valley. The drive offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, making it a popular route for travelers exploring southwestern Montana. Nearby Attractions: The lake is located near Yellowstone National Park, offering visitors additional opportunities to explore one of the nation’s most iconic natural landscapes. The area around Earthquake Lake is also known for its abundant outdoor activities, including hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing. Memorial and Legacy: Quake Lake Memorial: At the Visitor Center and surrounding areas, memorial plaques and markers commemorate the lives lost during the earthquake. These memorials provide a place for reflection and remembrance, honoring those affected by the natural disaster. Educational Value: Earthquake Lake serves as a significant educational site, providing insights into earthquake dynamics, landslide geology, and the resilience of nature. It attracts geologists, students, and nature enthusiasts interested in studying the effects of natural disasters on the environment.

Earthquake Lake is the result of an 7.5 magnitude of earthquake struck on August 17, 1959 in Hebgen Lake. It is 6 miles in length with a maximum depth of 125 feet. The beautiful scenary of the lake will captivate your mind. There is a visitor center displaying a Memorial from the earthquake with a plaque of the names of the 28 people who died and the events of the earthquake.

YES, this place is worth visiting, both in summer and in winter! If you are traveling to Yellowstone National Park, make the effort to go a bit out of your way to Earthquake Lake! It takes a little while to drive to, but it is a very unique place! Earthquake Lake was formed not too long ago by one of the most powerful earthquakes in recent Yellowstone history. A landslide occurred, blocking off a river, and the area began to flood. Many people camping by the river died from this event unfortunately, and yet the lake is still here, decades later. Earthquake Lake is so unusual as it still has many of the trunks from trees poking out of the water. These trees used to be on dry land alongside the river, but when it flooded, they died, and just the trunks remain. Also be sure to head up through the pass to see toward Idaho - if you’re there at sunset, it amounts for some beautiful photos. There is a visitor center, gift shop, ample parking, some hiking trails, and various turnouts along the road so you can get some pictures of the lake. It’s worth visiting - I really like it here!

Visited Quake Lake in August 2019 during hols to YNP and GTNP. Though scarred by a tragic event back in 1959 it's amazing to see with own eyes how nature can have its own way. Highly recommend to visit the Lake plus the Lake Memorial Museum. 👌

This is a beautiful place with a magnificent history and stunning scenery! The lake was formed by the quake of 59' that shook the region and changed the landscape. It is a beautiful drive toward Ennis, Montana to dig for garnets and gold in Nevada City or from Ennis toward West Yellowstone, the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. My boys have found petrified wood and lots of quartz crystals here. Even a couple arrowheads. We leave them here but they are still fun to find.

A must do in West Yellowstone. The cast was fabulous. Not only are they great on stage, but they are your ushers, and intermission service. They have 3 shows, I wish I was here to see all of them. You will not be disappointed. Great Job Playmill Theatre!!!

We aDORE this place. The singing, acting and dancing are so well done. The Merrill family is inspiring. The intermission treats are so deLISH! 10/10 recommend. We don’t go into Yellowstone anymore, but we come up every year for the Playmilll. Best part of West Yellowstone.

BRIGHT STAR IS A MUST SEE! Playmill always delivers a joy filled and talented production but Bright Star takes the cake. The live music and creative storytelling is top notch. Hannah Thompson and Maggie Christensen are FANTASTIC as the leading ladies; grounded, authentic, and deliberate in their portrayals. Our group of 15 ranging in age from 7 to 55 years was thoroughly engaged and so impressed. Do yourself a favor and catch this production. Not a super well known show by the masses but a WELL DONE SHOW!

I’ve seen all three of their 2025 Summer shows - Bright Star, Little Mermaid, and 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. The cast is fantastic and friendly. The venue is cozy. I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a great experience.
Catalina M — Google review
What a great fun experience for all ages. We saw the Little Mermaid. The singing and dancing was excellent and on point. Everyone's performances were great but the scene (albeit brief) with the chef stole the show. It was over the top hilarious. What also really added to the performance was the video backdrop. It made it more immersive and also made scene changes very fast which kept the performance moving. When you also consider the fact that they do several completely different shows in a week it makes all of this even more incredible.
Philip M — Google review
I love this place. It’s a cosy small theater with consistently amazing actors and shows. The fudge is great, and I have never had a show I didn’t like seeing here, even if the other productions/medias aren’t interesting to me. I recently watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and even though I thought I might like it a little less it was still hilarious and had characters that really came to life. It’s perfect as a group activity, and if you go, you’ll be quoting it for weeks.
Benson F — Google review
We saw their performance of The Little Mermaid and it was wonderful. The cast did an amazing job and worked incredibly hard performing before the main show, during the show, and even during intermission. A very small theater, which made for an intimate performance. I understand they are moving to a new theater in Island Park soon.

The Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, located near Yellowstone National Park, offers visitors an up-close experience with grizzly bears, gray wolves, and birds of prey in a safe environment. This nonprofit organization serves as a refuge for animals that cannot be released into the wild. Through educational programs and interactive experiences, guests can learn about these majestic creatures while observing them in their natural habitats.
We recently visited the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center with our three grandkids (ages 12, 13, and 6), and it was a fantastic experience for all of us! The exhibits are incredibly well done, and we loved how educational and engaging everything was. The kids were fascinated watching the bears forage and play, and seeing the wolves up close was such a rare and memorable treat. One of the highlights for all of us was watching the otters swim and play—so full of energy and personality! We could’ve stood there for hours just enjoying their antics. We appreciated that the animals here are all rescues and that the Center focuses on conservation and education—it made the visit feel meaningful as well as fun. The whole place is thoughtfully designed, clean, and easy to navigate. We also enjoyed the birds of prey exhibit and hearing the call of the bald eagle—what a powerful moment! This is a must-stop if you’re anywhere near West Yellowstone. We all left with smiles on our faces and new things to talk about. Highly recommend for families with kids of any age!

We took our 3 children to visit the Grizzly and Wolf discovery center. We had already spotted 1 wolf and 6 bears wild in the park, so this was a chance to see them up close and learn more about them. It didn't disappoint. It was nice to hear the back story on the Grizzlies, and to better understand why they would be a danger to humans in the wild. They seemed well cared for, fat and happy. Excellent chance to augment your distant photo's in the park with some close up action. Some of the wolves were doing the zoo Pacing thing, (up and down a small section of their fence) which made me a bit sad, but overall we had a great time.
Steven M — Google review
This small AZA accredited facility focuses exclusively on Yellowstone's wildlife. Which means the climate and foliage in the spacious enclosures is perfect for simulating the animals' natural environment! The zookeepers also provide foraging and enrichment opportunities throughout the day so the animals are actively engaging with their habitats and using their brains. Though it is a little zoo, if you stay for longer than an hour you will see at least the bears receive fresh foraging opportunities as they rotate through the display habitat throughout the day. There are outdoor and warmed indoor viewing spots if you visit in winter. The educational content provided by the staff was great - more Yellowstone guests could benefit from hearing and seeing firsthand why it's so important to keep wildlife unhabituated to humans! The admission price gets you in for 2 days so it's a great deal. You can visit after or before you enter Yellowstone National Park two days in a row. If you are a photographer, the bear habitats are backlit in the morning, and the wolf habitats across from them are backlit in the evening.
C M — Google review
While it’s not huge but the experience is incredibly impactful. You could really tell that the staff and organization have a sincere concern for animals. We learned a lot from the exhibits and staff. Special shout out to Tegan (sp) who was so friendly and knowledgeable. It’s nice that this place is a non-profit so you know they’re in it for the right reasons. As a bonus your day pass is actually good for two days so we went back again the second day. Very highly recommended.
Ryan C — Google review
It was great. Some of the animal viewing were closed due to cleaning or construction, but they gave you plenty of notice on their website. The animals are well cared for and seem stress free. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. You get very close to the wolves through the glass, as well as the other viewing areas. All the animals are beautiful. The gift shop is very well priced and offer a lot of choices. Your tickets are good for two days and are very reasonably priced. It is a fun experience.
D B — Google review
It was possibly my favorite thing to do on my week’s vacation to Yellowstone. It was a rainy day, we decided not to go into the park. This place was recommended by the staff at the resort we were staying at. I was very happy and so were my companions. I could not believe how close I was to bears and wolves but felt safe. I have always loved both. It felt like a dream come true. I also love otters and they are there as well. The only animals that we couldn’t see were the ground squirrels and that was because they were hibernating! It was very educational, respectful, lovely. The staff/naturalists were very nice and knowledgeable.
Michelle B — Google review
Worth the stop if it's not too busy! Habitats looked well constructed, safe, and fun for the animals while still giving us a good view. We thoroughly enjoyed the wolves and the otters! They have very informative exhibits to learn as well.
Kelly F — Google review
Neat and interesting zoo! The animals were very close and all staff was knowledgeable. Enjoyed the part as you are leaving that mentions and shows how to be bear safe. Very important! Also, we stayed about 1 hour in total and felt like we had seen it all. However, could definitely stay longer to see the different bears come out each hour.

Gorgeous! The Falls is so pretty. It was flowing pretty heavily when we visited. Not too far of a walk down, but if there is ice, it can be slippery going down to see it. There are some stairs, so caution should be taken.

Upper Falls in Yellowstone National Park is located on the Grand loop road close to Hayden Valley and Canyon Village depending from where you are coming. The parking lot size is pretty decent with restrooms. This is the Yellowstone river which drops to the upper falls and then drops again to lower falls and finally flowing through the canyon. The view of the gushing water is a great spectacle. You can also feel the mist on your face.
Sritama C — Google review
Huge fan of waterfalls and the Upper Falls certainly did not disappoint! Haven't made it to the Grand Canyon yet but the ravine coming away from the falls has to resemble it on a small scale. The falls themselves were really beautiful and the scenery in the back drop were out of this world. There were some neat hikes to it as well which is always a plus!

This was the highlight of our trip. It was an overcast and rainy day, but the view was amazing. We drove across the bridge to the first parking lot. From there we took the trail up to artist point. It was a long hike in a paved trail, with a lot of elevation change. The views along the way were superb though.

Yellowstone Horses at Eagle Ridge Ranch

Horseback Riding Tours
I came all the way from New Zealand to spend one week to see Yellowstone NP. I did book a few horseback rides through that week. And I was so fortunate to do my first ride with Eagle Ridge Ranch. They are so friendly and attentive. Even not having on their schedule any trotting during the rides they let me do my thing as I have experience riding horses. Of course not disappearing from the guide’s sight and staying around the group. It was fun and super chill environment. If you have experience riding horses that’s the one that they will let you fell free and have some fun. Others ranch are very strict on their policies and they have weird rules (like not wearing a cowboy hat) I highly recommend Eagle Ridge Ranch to anyone whether has experience or not. I was so happy riding with them that I’ve booked a second three hours ride before leaving.
Samuel G — Google review
My wife and oldest took the ride, so this is related to their experience. We were the last ride of the day. We saw a deer laying down in the trail, but were not lucky enough to see larger game. The “tour” was more of a nose-to-tail “walk”, but I am sure that is fine for most families. Before the ride, the hands provided snacks for the horses so everyone could feed them, which was cool. There is fishing, swimming, and boating (in separate ponds) for those not riding. The water was brisk. There is a place to practice roping (not on a live animal, but still pretty cool) The place is as beautiful as you can imagine. We also got to see the horses wrangled right past our car, which I think the hands did for a bit of fun. Nice place, reasonably priced, and options for everyone. The riding part is somehow separate from the ranch in a way I don’t understand, but whatever. The fifth star is not a function of not seeing game, just that it was a little vanilla. If perfectly cromulent is your thing, consider it 5 stars.

Hands down the best guided horse back riding experience I've ever had. I've been to my fair share of them and this one tops it. The horses are happy and well cared for and well trained. The staff is very patient and experienced. Brick was a most excellent guide and gave us a great ride. The ranch they run this out of is breathtaking and huge. You can stay and enjoy the property for an additional fee. It's $15 per person to use the lake which has boats, a rope swing, and a water slide. The also offer archery and skeet shooting. 10/10 best day ever.

Such an amazing trail ride experience! Eagle ridge ranch is beautiful, well-maintained, and run by an excellent, friendly team. Our guide Josie was fantastic—both incredibly knowledgeable and personable! My group was so impressed by her poise and skill in riding and training a brand new house. Nothing short of a great experience, we would definitely go back!

Fun, friendly staff and guides. We had a group of 5 kids and 6 adults with varying experience riding horses. The staff helped the younger children feel safe and made sure we had a good experience. The scenery was beautiful and Hunter and Hailey were very friendly and helpful guides.

Wonderful experience horseback riding with beautiful views, gentle and well cared for horses and a knowlegable and capable guide! All the horses were very sweet. There were some in our group who had never ridden before and were scared, and the guides and staff at Eagle Ranch were able to put them at ease and they seemed to have a great time. The price for 2 hour ride was well below anything you would have paid near West Yellowstone and the trail was mostly in the woods and shaded. Would definitely recommend!
Kellie H — Google review
My four kids had the best day here. We did a two hour guided horse ride. My youngest is 6 and was so excited but very nervous. They did a wonderful job as a team, helping her feel comfortable. After riding, my kids spend hours playing in the little lake. They had lots of different water activities to enjoy.

Thank you very much for a beautiful afternoon!! Very well organized and very attentive guides. The cook out was delicious! Especial shout out to the team who payed attention that one of our group is vegetarian and prepared an extra meal for her. We were grateful to be spend the late afternoon at the eagle ridge ranch! We informed ourselves beforehand that the ride would be walking, which can be boring for the experienced riders but most people are not experienced at all. Hence, all good. Our ride was fun and we saw several deers, very close. Seems that they are not afraid of horses. Amazing!

Biscuit Basin is a vibrant collection of thermal pools and geysers located in Yellowstone National Park, specifically within the Upper Geyser Basin near Old Faithful. This area is part of a larger geyser region that includes Geyser Hill, Black Sand Basin, and other thermal features along the path from Castle Geyser to Morning Glory Pool.
Loved every minute of this. So much parking on a weekend since less tourists. Geysers are crazy spewing sulphur out. The springs are just magical. Colour you’ll remember forever.

Biscuit Basin in Yellowstone is a fascinating and beautiful area… as of July 2024, it is closed due to a hydrothermal explosion that caused damage to the parking lot and boardwalk. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt… but the area remains off-limits for safety reasons. Our hearts go out to anyone who was injured or affected in any way. Even though access is restricted, Biscuit Basin still offers an amazing visual experience… especially for photographers capturing it at night. The steam rising under the stars, the glow of thermal features, and the surrounding landscape make for incredible shots. It’s peaceful, surreal, and full of atmosphere. The basin is known for vibrant springs like Sapphire Pool and small geysers scattered throughout… it’s a reminder of the raw power beneath the surface. Hopefully the area will reopen in the future once it’s safe again. For now, it’s a place to admire from a distance… one that holds both natural beauty and a reminder of how powerful Yellowstone really is.

Awesome collection of colorful hot springs, pulsing phumerals, and spitting geysers! A well-made boardwalk takes you over fragile ground and around some of the bigger and older features, while newer features appear to have popped up. Great stop when heading south from the West Entrance! Plus, there's a nice little hike to Mystic Falls and a great panoramic overlook of the basin and beyond for those willing to make the extra effort. And, bonus, there are raspberry bushes near the overlook!

We visited Biscuit Basin during our ’23 roadtrip through the Tetons and Yellowstone, and it quickly became one of my favorite basins in the park. When we arrived, there were a ton of bison just hanging out nearby, which made the whole experience feel even more special. Sadly, the Black Diamond Pool had a significant hydrothermal explosion in ’24 and has remained closed since. We feel really fortunate to have seen this beautiful and vibrant area before the damage occurred.

I wanted to do something special for my wife and I's trip to Yellowstone. I had long wanted to stay in the Old Faithful Inn, after only walking into the lobby to look around on my previous two visits to the Park. I was only interested in staying in one of the "old house" rooms. These are the ones which are part of the original Inn. They have a sink in the room, but no restroom/shower. Each hall has shared restroom and shower facilities. I loved the rustic style of our room, and the Inn. It was very neat to stay in a hotel which was 120+ years old. I found the room to be clean enough (maybe a bit of a stain or two on the rug). The bathrooms were busy at certain times of the day. They also had issues with running out of toilet paper and paper towels. One morning I had an issue with one of the toilet stalls (men's) being wet on the floor. I don't know if a kid had gone in there and really missed the toilet or what. So yeah, the biggest downside for me was the bathroom, but that said, it wasn't a deal breaker for me...and I generally hate public restrooms! The other downside was the fact that it could be a bit hard to find a parking spot in the lot out front of the Inn. My wife and I loved watching Old Faithful from the observation deck. We also loved the evening vibe in the Inn, when folks just sit and hang out in the multi-tiered lobby, listening to live music being played, visiting, reading, whatever. It really made for a memorable evening! We very much enjoyed our stay.

You stay at the Old Faithful Inn for the historical significance and the location, not for a luxurious experience. The lobby is beautiful, and it is fun to enjoy all of the details while sitting next to the large fireplace. Check-in was easy, and we were able to walk to our room quickly. The gift shop was nice, and the second floor patio was great for geyser gazing. I was a little surprised by the amount of housekeeping that was going on when we checked in in the late afternoon. The halls were lined with laundry bags and cleaning carts, which felt a little messy. The room was charming, but very small for our family of four. I did, however, appreciate the size of the bathroom and closet. The room did show its age. It was not dirty by any means, but it did feel old. I also found it strange that the recycle/trash bin sorter was right next to the bed, almost as a nightstand. The room was small, but sleeping next to the trash can is a little gross. The bathroom amenities were nice, and the shower pressure was excellent. The radiator heat was adequate but a little hard to get just right. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Old Faithful Inn. It's pricey, but for one night, the experience was very cool, and you can't beat the location.

Not worth the price, very disappointing stay We booked three nights at the Old Faithful Inn with a communal bathroom, spending almost $800 in total, and our experience was far below expectations. While we knew that sharing a bathroom might be a bit inconvenient, we never imagined that we’d be sharing the same restrooms used by every single day visitor to the Old Faithful Inn, not just hotel guests. As a result, the bathrooms were crowded, dirty, and offered zero privacy, which is completely unacceptable for the price we paid. Our room had no amenities at all, we didn’t expect a TV, but at least a coffee maker or kettle would have been appreciated. When staying at the Old Faithful Inn, you basically have no dining alternatives other than their own restaurants. If you have dietary restrictions, be prepared to struggle: there’s only one restaurant you can really consider, and you’ll need to line up around 4:30 PM to have any chance of being seated by 5:00. The first night, we tried their burger place, it was honestly the worst burger I’ve ever had. From the second night on, we decided to drive 45 minutes to West Yellowstone, where we found much better dining options and a few nice pubs. Also, keep in mind that there is nothing to do in the evenings at the Old Faithful Inn. There’s no Wi-Fi, no entertainment, no games, nothing to keep you occupied after dinner. If you visit during the shoulder season (like early October), there’s no issue with traffic entering or leaving the park. In hindsight, we would strongly recommend staying in West Yellowstone instead: you’ll spend less than half the price, enjoy more comfort, and still be able to explore the park easily during the day. Overall, a very disappointing experience and definitely not worth the cost.

My father and I stayed at The Old Faithful Inn, in their West Wing, 2 queen bed room for their final night of the season. As there was no other lodging open within the park (aside from Mammoth Hot Springs, owned by same company/ same price) we were grateful to get a room, same night. I paid 345$ for the night. Checking in, I learned that there is no WIFI in the lodge. Getting into our room, we learned there’s no TV. The room was clean, and we had our own bathroom/ shower which was convenient. However, everything appeared decades out of date. The walls so thin I could hear distance snoring. Heard things scratching along inside the walls. For what we paid, and what we got, we felt blatantly ripped off. This is by no means reflective of the wonderful staff working at the facility who gave fantastic service right up until the final morning. I do not recommend staying at this lodge. I would have preferred to sleep in the back of the vehicle.

Historical hotel was beautiful to see and location. Reserved a room with two beds and got a single bed in the smallest room I have ever stayed in. Hard to change after getting set to stay. Shower was smaller than a phone both (to age myself) and not clean to the expectations of the price they charge. Dinner buffet was a bit to be desired for the price also. I've had better meals camping. It hasn't been upgraded a bit. We went in mid May and it would have been nice to have some kind of service to keep updated on the weather. Check, but I think Verizon has a contract with the park. I would have gotten a burner phone if I had known. Felt they gave info if asked, nothing more.
Robert W — Google review
Pros: Fantastic location; the Old House has incredible architecture; excellent building tour; lots of varied places to sit and read, chat with people, or listen to the live music; fun to stay in order to explore the space Cons: Rooms in the newer wings feel a bit run-down; the toilet was violently loud; food quality isn’t great; dining options are limited; no Wi-Fi unless you walk to Snow Lodge; they don’t offer a cot for a third family member who needs a bed — instead, they provide a “nest,” which is really just sheets on the floor. Inexcusable. Was glad I stayed here one night for the proximity to park activities, but I won’t be returning.
Christina F — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Old Faithful Inn. I love historic national park lodges and this one is wonderful. It is quite different from others and quite unique. Very comfortable w plenty of space and seating. I was a bit disappointed in our small, boring room in the west wing (feels a bit like the servants' quarters). Apparently it is 'historic' as it was added in 1927 (I think) but it has no historic character and is painted a dull yellow/beige. It was clean and serviceable but at over $400/night I was a bit disappointed. In hind sight, I would brave the communal bathrooms and stay in the 'old house' for the character/experience. Otherwise, the staff, dining room dinner and breakfast were great. Food very good. Minimal eating options beyond the dining room. The alternate restaurant has a limited menu. We ate one night at the Obsidian in the Snow Lodge and found it to be quite good.

Bear Lake State Park

State park
Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
Known for its blue waters, this park with beaches is popular for boating, fishing & water sports.
Even with the winter, the lake is absolutely stunning. Worth driving past, especially after a big snow. The mountain drive into the area is beyond gorgeous. I would recommend anyone take the drive and do it at sunrise with clouds in the sky. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful Lake! Cannot wait to go back! Found this cool rock too 😎 kids ages 15,12,12 & 3 and both parents (in our 40s) lived it there!

It's a stunning spot with fantastic photo opportunities. The only thing I will say is that if you are allergic to bees dont stop here. lol . The amount of wasps, yellow jackets and bumble bees here were astonishing!!
Dee R — Google review
My family had a blast going to this beach. The water color is incredible as it is so blue. We were shocked on how clear the water was and lack of fish and sea weed in the beach area. There are restrooms and showers on the property. Lots of people were renting water equipment, plus bring their own things. We were shocked on how cold the water was for the middle of July. Beautiful place to go!
Megan D — Google review
Love Bear Lake! Water can be cold at times but overall a great place to boat, swim or just sit back and relax. My family camps at rendezvous campsites which most lead right down to the beach. We also enjoy going into town and getting raspberry shakes as it has become somewhat of a tradition. I would recommend Bear Lakes to anyone.
Jayson A — Google review
West shore very crowed, but plenty of restaurants and free rest areas for day use. East shore has four campgrounds (one closed at this time) with gorgeous sunsets. Although this side is nicer in my opinion, it is full of disrespectful people (dogs unlashed that poop with no control, groups with loud music).
Dub A — Google review
We camp at Birch Campground right along the beach. It’s the most amazing lake you’ll ever experience! The water is so beautiful and blue! The sunset is incredibly amazing!
Megan T — Google review
This place is obviously beautiful, but the incredibly rude people working at the entrance ruined it for us. We paid $90 for two nights of camping. Understood that we couldn’t have an extra car, but they wouldn’t even let our extra car come in to quickly unload at our campsite. Having a strict rule about something is one thing but 1 they were out of their way rude and 2 their only reasoning is that it was “too busy.” Attached is the completely empty parking lot that they could have parked in for 5 minutes to unload. We also asked them a few other questions and the response were “uhhh I don’t know.”

USU is amazing. Their campus is beautiful and it's the home of the AGGIES!

I have a scholarship and 62$ is randomly charged to my account the day of the tuition deadline. Called into financial aid to figure out why and the amazingly rude lady refused to help me or even give me any information. Now it's past the deadline and I am restricted on course materials and supposedly am gunna get a late fee. Due to her neglecting her job. This is one reason I will be transferring schools.

USU is by far the best college campus to go to in the state of Utah, while attending USU you will find the city feels like a small town campus. USU offers a lot of amazing programs to make friends and there professors are amazing
Stephen R — Google review
Displeased USU Visitor My recent experience with USU (assuming you are referring to a university or institution with that acronym) left me feeling incredibly frustrated and dissatisfied. One of the most significant issues that marred my experience was the rampant over-ticketing problem. Over-ticketing at USU has become a serious concern, and it has undoubtedly soured my perception of the institution. It seems as though the primary focus has shifted away from providing a conducive learning environment and towards extracting revenue from its students and visitors through excessive ticketing. The frequency with which I witnessed students and visitors receiving unwarranted tickets was alarming. Whether it was for minor parking infractions, perceived rule violations, or even issues that should have been handled through communication and warnings, it appeared that the institution was more interested in punishing individuals than in fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere. Furthermore, the fines associated with these tickets often felt disproportionately high, placing an undue financial burden on students and visitors who are already struggling with the cost of education and daily living expenses. It's disheartening to see an institution prioritize revenue generation over the well-being and financial stability of its constituents. The over-ticketing issue not only creates a hostile atmosphere but also undermines the trust and respect that students and visitors should have for their educational institution. It fosters an environment where individuals are constantly on edge, fearing that even the slightest misstep will result in another unwarranted ticket. In conclusion, my experience with USU has been marred by the issue of over-ticketing, which has led me to question the institution's priorities and commitment to the well-being of its students and visitors. It is my hope that USU will reevaluate its approach to disciplinary measures and consider more reasonable and fair ways to address rule violations without resorting to excessive ticketing.

Fossil Butte National Monument

Sights & Landmarks
This United States National Monument draws a crowd with hiking plus paleontology & geology talks.
WOW, just because this park may not seem close to anything, the park and rangers, are amazing and this should be on your must visit list. There is beautiful scenery to get there. And the speed limit is 70. The 2 movies were quite interesting and informative. You could watch a ranger working on cleaning a fossil. there were great displays, even in the bathrooms!?! Had a nice picnic area, well worth the stop!

Got to Kemmerer several hours before my motel check-in so I decided to come check it out and hike one of the trails... Beautiful landscape and vast blue skies that makes you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. There's no entrance fee, and several moderately challenging trails to hike. I hiked the Chicken Creek Loop Trail with my two dogs and only saw one other person the entire trail. It's a pretty steep trail going up either way, but coming back down is a breeze. The top of the trail has an absolutely breathtakingly vast view West across rolling hills. I definitely urge anyone exploring here to bring lots of water. The visitors center is pretty neat. I didn't go inside because I had my dogs, but the deck surrounds over half of the center with really cool information about the history of the earth strategically placed along the rail forming a timeline. The views here are equally amazing.

Well worth the visit. The exhibits in the Visitors Center are gorgeous and very informative. The staff is really friendly and professional. We did the Nature Trail hike. Definitely the right time of year to see beautiful alpine flowers and striking views. We saw a mule deer and a prairie dog (?) during the 1 1/2 mile hike. Wish we'd had more time (and energy) to do the quarry hike! We'll be back!

A very positive surprise! With so many parks and landmarks around, Fossil Butte NM may not be the first pick of visitors. And yet the area and the exhibition is fan-tas-tic. Really. We were amazed at the quantity and variety of fossils found in the area. Once it was confirmed that it was not damaging the environment, we also booked a private fossil dig at one of the commercial quarries and had so much fun. 100% recommended!
Carine D — Google review
If you like Butte’s this is the place for you. Rugged deserts type environment similar to Utah. If you hike or have a 4x4 come on down. City slickers probably won’t enjoy it much.

I would love to visit again when the visitor center is open. This is a really cool geological area and definitely worth visiting.

A great place which explains about the fossils of various things which includes fish, leaves , animals. It’s free too. Not much visitor but good place to checkout if you are around the area

Great national monument to visit and learn about the history of fossils hunting in the area and the geology. About 20 mins from the commercial quarries. They have great displays of different animals that have been found in the surrounding area. Had great gift shop to bring back souvenirs. Check out the restrooms' poop fossils collection!

This bird refuge & marsh area offers a 12-mile auto tour, fishing, hunting & wildlife viewing.
It is a peaceful and beautiful place to visit — perfect for bird lovers and anyone who enjoys nature. The variety of birds you can spot here is incredible. We saw pelicans, herons, ducks, and so many others, all in their natural wetland habitat. The auto tour route is an easy and relaxing drive with stunning views throughout. It’s a great spot for photography, a quiet getaway, and a family outing. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and want to experience a unique part of Utah’s natural beauty.

This is one of the best visitor centers I've ever been to. The interactive exhibits, taxidermy, and movie theater are all top notch. The bird call exhibit is a favorite because you can memorize the calls before taking the 3km walk around the refuge. The walk itself is very accessible, paved and mowed so you can comfortably walk without worrying about ticks from the tall grasses. Oh, and the gift shop and indoor toilets are amazing. Board games, high quality toys, and even a bird mural in the ladies '.
Ashley G — Google review
This was such a great place to visit! We ran out of time and will definitely be back. The auto tour is open from sunrise to sunset. The visitor center is open from 8-4. In the visitor center, my kids were able to play bingo in the exhibit hall and were rewarded with a butterfly sticker. There was so much fun stuff to view in the exhibit hall. There is a theater that we did not have time to view. We were also able to check out adventure backpacks for the kids that contained different magnification viewers for bugs, 2 different kinds of nets, kids' binoculars, field identification guides, etc. Each child received their own booklet to complete, and after completing a number of activities, they were able to get a junior ranger badge. We spent almost an hour on the trail just watching the bugs and birds and trying to catch bugs to view and then release. They had so much fun! We will definitely be back!
Sarah D — Google review
Beautiful free park where you can bird watch. Leaving the highway, it feels crazy to think a whole refuge is right next to it. The visitor center is at the entrance of the park. The recommended path is a ungraveled road of about 1h30 (highly depends on how you want to do it). You drive on the loop and can see plenty of things. Birds are EVERYWHERE. Note: The month of may has a lot of insects (mosquitoes…) so be prepared if you want to get out of the car. Great free activity that entertains everhone.
F A — Google review
Visitor center was closed the day we were there due to the federal shutdown, but we enjoyed the auto tour. Probably more migrating birds in Sept. than Oct.
Dan B — Google review
Amazing. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Watch the 20-minute presentation at the learning center, then take the self-driving tour around the sanctuary. Everything will make more sense.
Barnett F — Google review
Beautiful property with an array of birds and some mammals. The auto tour loop is cool, but finding the entrance was a little challenging at first. The yellow-headed black birds and white pelicans were my favorite by far. Good location for birding!
Stefanie R — Google review
The area around the visitor center is great. Trails run through wetlands and there is even a photo blind. But the biggest downside are their trails. They are open sunrise to sunset. So far so good, but you can't use any of the loop trails if the visitor center is closed. You need to track back to the first crossing and go back to the parking lot that way. All the trails run literally through the visitor center but the visitor center currently closes at 4pm and is not even open every day. This could have been handled better, the architect of these trails probably never used a trail in their life.

Snowbasin Resort, located in Huntsville, Utah, has been a popular destination since 1936 and was even a site for the 2002 Winter Olympics. The resort offers classic ski activities and hosts year-round events. Visitors can take Olympic-themed gondola rides to the top of the mountain for breathtaking views and access to Needles Lodge where they can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and dining. The resort features ski slopes suitable for all levels with trained instructors available.
Really nice mountain! Great terrain, easy Parking. Challenging terrain at whatever your level of challenge is... You'll find it here. Take a ride on the Olympic tram, and if you get tentative, you can ride the tram down, no pressure to make the run on snow :)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Snowbasin Ski Resort is an all-season paradise! In the winter, the skiing here is top-tier—groomed runs, challenging steeps, and absolutely stunning views. The lift system is fast and efficient, and there’s terrain for every skill level. Easily one of my favorite places to ski in Utah. Come summer, the resort really shines in a different way. The hiking trails are gorgeous, with wildflowers, epic ridgelines, and scenic overlooks. If you love mountain biking, Snowbasin has some of the best trails in the area—fun, flowy, and great for all levels. Don’t miss the free summer concerts—incredible live music set against a beautiful mountain backdrop. Bring a blanket, grab a drink, and enjoy the vibe! And if you’re looking for a unique dining experience, take the gondola up and eat at the top of the mountain. The food is amazing, and the views are unforgettable. Whether you’re here for snow, sun, or just the scenery, Snowbasin delivers. Can’t recommend it enough!

We took the gondola up to the Needles Lodge for Sunday brunch. At first glance, it seemed pricey but for what the ticket includes it is worth it. A ride up and down the mountain, the brunch, and access to the concert. Employees are helpful and friendly

I recently shot a wedding at Snowbasin and it was amazing! The views from the top really wowed everyone, especially the out of town guests. What a beautiful Dog friendly resort! We loved taking our dog, Osiris up to listen to the blues, eat great food, have the perfect frozen adult beverage and enjoy gorgeous scenery. They are thoughtful with stainless steel water bins for the dogs placed everywhere. We will definitely be coming back to take Osiris on the Gondola.

Had an amazing time here! Beautiful resort. Except I did have a little trouble with the ski school administrators. I purchased a package for lessons & lift tickets for my kids but they didn’t give them the lift tickets at the school & no one told me I had to pick them up separately . So when they went to ride the chair lift with their instructor, they wouldn’t let them on. I had to run back to where lift tickets are purchased. I just wish someone told me sooner instead of the end of the day. They only got to ride the chair lift once because of the time wasted.
Helene D — Google review
Amazing ski resort. I love how long the runs are and how fast the lifts go as well. You really feel like you can ski so much longer. There’s so much mountain to cover you can happily spend all day exploring and find something for your brand of fun. Certain areas definitely get crowded, especially on weekends, but after the waves of arrivals people tend to spread out and the lines and runs become much less congested.
Emma S — Google review
Snowbasin has so much more to offer than just winter activities! We have fun at there during the summer and early fall too! Hiking, Blues and Brews and Octoberfest! I do recommend that if you don't have a pass, to purchase your tickets ahead of time. It makes the entry process much faster! Everything is definitely a little overpriced. However that goes for pretty much everything these days.

We went on an incredible tour with our amazing guide Sara. Big bunch of family from Kentucky and then a couple of us locals. It was such a beautiful ride and we all had such a fun time, we even got to see a whole moose family. We loved every second of it and already determined to come back and do it again. Everyone was so great to us all and even the pups that greeted us on arrival. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great way to get into the beautiful country and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Our group of eight from NY had the most incredible experience on this trip! From start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect. The scenery was breathtaking, the adventure was exhilarating, and every moment felt like something out of a dream. But what truly made this trip unforgettable were our amazing guides, Gage and Sara. Their expertise, kindness, and passion for what they do made us feel both safe and excited every step of the way. We cannot thank Gage and Sara enough for making this adventure so special. They went above and beyond to ensure we had the best time, sharing their knowledge and energy while making us feel like family. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and their dedication to giving us an unforgettable experience was beyond anything we could have hoped for. This trip wouldn’t have been the same without them, and we are forever grateful! Gage is definitely one of those people that I will never forget in my life. Sara and Gage if you read this you guys are the best. So much so that this is the first time in my life that I have ever left a review for anything.

What an incredible experience! The staff were super friendly and helped you get any gear you might’ve needed/forgotten. Gage, our guide, was very informative on how use the mobile, as it was my first time. He was super encouraging and made the entire experience stress free and fun. We stopped for plenty of photo ops, and even got to see some incredible wildlife. To top it off they had a cute dog named Beans and two adorable puppies. By far my favorite thing I’ve done in Utah! Can’t recommend this place enough!!!

We had an awesome ride with Gage as our top-notch guide. It was one of our favorite experiences while visiting friends in Park City- we blasted over snowy trails, tore up deep powder as a massive thunder-snow storm rolled in, saw a herd of elk moving across the mountain, and had the time of our lives. Gage was incredibly knowledgeable and capable- safety was his primary concern with epic fun a close second. We would highly recommend and will do it again next time we’re out. Our friends plan to take other guests out as well. 5 stars for backcountry and for Gage 🌟

This tour is an absolute must if you are visiting the Park City area! I can’t give enough stars to rate how genuine and kind everyone was on this adventure. Coming to this area of the country we have learned that things can happen that unexpectedly change plans. I have to thank Backcountry Snowmobiling for accommodating us on every level. We had to change our reservation from Friday to Saturday because one of our vehicles didn’t make it through the backroads and the team at Backcountry was so understanding and very generously changed our reservation for the following day. When we arrived we were so warmly greeted a s welcomed. They help fit us for all of our gear and took some amazing pictures of us. Then we meet Gage, our tour guide. From the beginning you can tell this is what he loves. He lives and breathes for this kind of work. He gave very detailed instructions on operating the snowmobile and we all felt we were in such good and safe hands. Then the tour starts and what an adrenaline rush. We seen all the animals on the snowy mountains. Elk, Bald Eagle, and even a momma and baby Moose!! Every time we stopped there was something to see and experience. Gage then takes us to the meadow where the real fun starts. Basically I was living off adrenaline as my snowmobile hit 50 mph. One of the most freeing and exhilarating experiences I have ever had. We should have definitely done the 3 hour tour, I could have gone for hours. Gage then takes us to a personal spot of his where he made an ice bridge over a small stream. For me, this was so beautiful. We then head back to the office area where we are greeted with PUPPIES. YES PUPPIES. What a way to end such an incredible day. We almost didn’t want to leave but they were obviously done for the day. It was an absolute amazing experience from beginning to end. I can’t wait to come back next year to do the 3 hour tour and see how big the puppies get! Thank you to everyone at Backcountry Snowmobiling, and especially Gage for giving such a good experience.

Nature & Parks
Red Butte Garden and Arboretum, located on the University of Utah campus, is a sprawling 100-acre botanical garden nestled in the scenic Wasatch Mountains foothills. It boasts over 21 acres of meticulously maintained gardens, five miles of nature trails for hiking enthusiasts, and an impressive arboretum housing diverse horticultural collections. The garden is renowned for its stunning display of daffodils and springtime blooming bulbs.
I went to a wedding at Red Butte Gardens recently, and it was such a beautiful spot for it. The scenery alone makes the whole place feel lovely, so much greenery and sunlight, it felt like a secret garden. They even had golf carts to help people with mobility issues and others get around, which I thought was such a thoughtful touch. Parking was easy and stress-free too, which made arriving smooth. The reception space was gorgeous, the food was so good and the whole night just felt relaxed and joyful. Red Butte Gardens really is a stunning place for a wedding.

I found the Red Butte Garden to be utterly charming! There are so many places to tuck away for a picnic along the winding trails and they had fantastic views or relaxing nooks. The app and map were both helpful and even this late into the season there were beautiful sights and smells. Will definitely be returning to explore the hiking trails and make use of a picnic spot.

Well organized and meticulous maintained botanical garden. I liked the water conservation garden that’s gotten Utah flavor in it. My favorite part is the fragrance garden. I tried to sniff everything there and it was mesmerizing experience except got a bit hyperventilated lol. Honestly many other parts of the garden smelled so good too. Roses smelled like perfume. Smells reminds me pleasant past experiences often. Short trails lead to overlook of the city. A must visit if you are in salt lake.

It's my last full day in Utah after being here for 5 weeks. My sister and I really wanted to enjoy it so we headed to the Red Butte Garden. We looked over the map and decided just to head the paths and see where it takes us. Even though it's fall, everything was still so pretty! There were actually some flowers that were still bloomed. No matter what section of the garden I was in, I was just mesmerized at how stunning everything was. I adore all the seating that was available. All the swinging benches that you can hang out at and enjoy the scenery. You can spend hours here and not even realize it. I can imagine spring time, enjoying all the beautiful colors and having lunch. That would be the perfect afternoon! It's such a calming space for your soul and mind to rest. I could sit here and let my mind wander. My favorite part of the garden is the pond. It was cloudy and slightly breezy today so you can see the reflections of the clouds on the water. The fish would come up and kiss the water which caused little ripples. It's so serene here. I can let the world continue on but in that moment in time for me, it feels like time has stopped on purpose so I can enjoy the moment for as long as I want. I didn't want it to end. This was a great way to end my last day in SLC. The weather was perfect. It allowed my sister and I to enjoy the whole park. I'm coming back in April for a Dr's visit and I'll have to come back again. I need to see this garden when it's starting to bloom. I look forward to coming back next year when all the plant life is regrowing.

Red Butte Garden is absolutely gorgeous and such a peaceful place to explore. The walking paths are really well kept, and there are so many different areas to wander through — from colorful flowers to shaded trails and open views of the mountains. We took a hike to the canyon overlook and it was totally worth it — such a beautiful view! The staff and volunteers are super friendly, and it’s a perfect spot for a relaxing day, a picnic, or even just a quiet walk. Definitely a must-visit in Utah!

A great way to spend Columbus Day with the family, enjoying the beautiful gardens at Red Butte. Well maintained gardens with a wide variety of local and native plants. Many unique themed gardens, plenty of benches and places to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of nature. Highly recommended place to visit in Salt Lake.

Red Butte Garden is a total dream for engagement sessions and weddings — lush gardens, vibrant colors, and mountain views all in one place. The variety of backdrops makes every session feel different and creative. It’s a photographer’s paradise and a gorgeous setting for any love story.

We came up to red Butte Gardens at around 7 PM and stayed till close. The whole atmosphere is relaxing, peaceful, beautiful, and educational. Highly recommend for families, for contemplation, and for a calm evening stroll. I particularly enjoy the Seven Bridges walk; take some time to explore this beautiful garden!

Located along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, the Natural History Museum of Utah is a modern venue with 10 galleries that delve into earth science and Utah's native cultures. The museum offers absorbing exhibits on topics ranging from the state's biological diversity and geology to prehistory. Visitors can engage with hands-on displays that teach about sand dune formation and constructing earthquake-proof buildings.
We come here once or twice a year and look forward to their special exhibits they have. Our kids always love coming here, but especially with the family over school field trips. They love spending time in each section reading and learning something new everyday. The staff is great at the special exhibits. They are informative and friendly. They have free puppet shows at various times. We loved the Teen Explainers that they've added too. I think it's such a great way for teens to spend their time working a job that allows them to contribute to younger children's educational experience.

This Museum was very fun to visit. I got a free pass. So I took me and my wife we enjoyed looking at dinosaurs. There's a part where you had to put dinosaur bones together to recreate a skull. It was much more challenging than I initially thought. There's a nice Sun deck where you can enjoy the good weather and have a beautiful scenic view. I also like the Ice Age exhibit that they have and the exhibit about the natives of Utah the Navajo. I think we spent maybe around 3 hours at the Museum. It was fun and not too crowded. It is a good place for children to learn about natural history. Have a nice little gift shop and they also have clean bathrooms. It is a good place for families. One thing that I like is that they had a sense so that you could smell how certain dinosaurs or certain berries or plants from the dinosaur age. You can learn how they smelled like. They have some very large dinosaur displays and they also have like I Spy game thing throughout the museum where you have to find like little mamas that are hidden around the the whole museum. It's a good activity for kids or if you have a membership pass it is fun to do to do something different every once in a while.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Natural History Museum of Utah is a true gem for families and curious minds of all ages. The striking modern architecture sets the tone for an experience where science and storytelling come alive. Inside, you’ll find an engaging mix of education and entertainment—from towering dinosaur skeletons and ancient fossils to immersive geology exhibits. The interactive, hands-on elements are a hit with both kids and adults. A highlight is the Discovery Room, where younger visitors can dig for fossils, solve puzzles, and explore in a fun, educational space. The museum also features rotating exhibits, workshops, and knowledgeable staff who are always ready to share their passion. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, there’s always something new to discover. A captivating, well-curated destination that truly inspires a love for the natural world. Highly recommended!

WOW, this place blew my mind. I spent 2.5 hours here, but there were so many interactive things to do, I could have been there all day. I have been to Salt Lake many times. I had never been here before. It was amazing. I took so many pictures. I highly recommend this to anyone. Especially families with kids. It was such a wonderful learning experience. I don't know how I missed this place all these years.

Ones of my all-time favorite museum visits! The exhibits are extensive and thought-provoking. I love that the interpretation encourages visitors to think from different perspectives. The exhibit design is logical and had plenty of interaction opportunity that reinforce what you just viewed. I saw people from age 2 to 82 enjoying and learning. Don't miss the outdoor views of SLC and the surrounding mountains. The cafe was really good too!

We went on a Thursday afternoon and it took about 2.5 hrs to go through, and there was no wait to get tickets. It was busy, kids summer camps, but not crowded. The overall atmosphere was relaxed and informative. The facility is clean, modern, and nicely laid out. They have many hands-on activities for kids, and plenty of staff and volunteers to guide you or answer questions. Obviously, it shows cases Utah's unique history and people.

What an absolute treat! We’ve been to some pretty amazing museums- this one is definitely in the top 3 GOAT’s. New and contemporary- with great exhibits. Another great aspect is the flow of the tour. The staff is super helpful and very knowledgeable. Definitely going back.

Over the years, we have visited a great many museums and it is very rare to find one as interesting and professionally done as this one. It is in a class with the Smithsonian Museums in Washington DC. Visiting this museum was not part of our plans for our trip but it would have been horrible if we had missed this magnificent place. If you go, allow yourself plenty of time to marvel at the scale of the artifacts presented here.

Utah's Hogle Zoo, situated on a 42-acre site at the base of Emigration Canyon, is a family-friendly destination that has been captivating visitors since 1931. The zoo is home to over 1000 animals from more than 250 regions worldwide, including rare species like the white rhino and snow leopard.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely loved our visit to Hogle Zoo! This zoo is a standout attraction nestled at the base of the mountains, offering not only incredible views but an amazing variety of animals. From big cats and bears to sea lions and giraffes, every exhibit is thoughtfully designed and easy to explore. The animals look well cared for, and you can really tell the staff is passionate about what they do. One thing that really stood out was the food—surprisingly delicious for a zoo! There were plenty of options, from classic favorites to healthier picks, and everything was fresh and reasonably priced. It made our visit even more enjoyable to be able to grab a great bite while relaxing in a beautiful setting. All in all, Hogle Zoo is clean, well laid out, and packed with fun for all ages. Highly recommend spending a day here!

The animals are so calming. Recent local events we're making me dressed and getting out in nature and hanging out with the animals was precisely what I needed. I could sit and watch the monkeys for an hour. The small animals building is a treasure with all the fun animals. The zoo has a vintage vibe in the older area. There are fun play areas for kids to run and climb. They have a train ($3) and merry go round ($3). I was just happy to be there watching the tiger stalk around, the polar doing his laps with a dramatic jump at the window, the angry cat who seemed to growl, the monkey who was chattering. I'm a personal fan of the tortoises. If you haven't gone to the zoo in the whole, just do it. Wander and look at the animals. It will do your soul good.
Amy B — Google review
The season pass for this place is awesome. You get unlimited train rides and unlimited carousel rides. We try to get our kids up here once a month. We probably ride the train four times the carousel five times and I love seeing all the animals. Lions were roaring, and the kids loved hearing them. New baby monkey was cute. The park is clean. Bathrooms are clean Food is a little overpriced, but to be expected for a theme park. Also the train is all electric.
Izak R — Google review
Family goes to the zoo every year but this was the first time we'd been around Halloween. The decorations were amazing and animals we had never seen active during the hotter months of the year were pouring on quote a show! The polar bear, the lions... the giraffes and camels were a favorite. Employees were all wonderful. It was just the best trip. We can't wait to go again next year!
Susan L — Google review
This place was so fun! We spent 3 1/2 hours here, so worth the ticket price. Inside is a little pricey but I love that it goes to a good cause and the animals seem well taken care of. The staff were also very friendly and knowledgeable. We bought our tickets online which save $2/ticket.

While attending the Aquarium and Zoo Facilities Association conference I was able to visit the Hogle Zoo all the way from the Phoenix Zoo. The staff was very friendly. The facility was clean and very well maintained. The food was really good. This is a must see facility if you are in the area. I will definitely visit again the next time that I am in Salt Lake City.
Lorenzo F — Google review
It only gets 3 stars because a lot of the animals, well, just weren't there - kinda disappointing the pull up to an outside animal area or one of their indoor windows and just not see any animals. Also, having to pay extra for the carousel was ok, bc at the end the kids get a donation coin to help out an animal of their choice, BUT having to pay extra for the train ride was too much. Either way, my little one had a good time, just don't think we'll be going back any time soon, sorry 😔
Oscar R — Google review
Such a fun time at the zoo! I was so thankful the sheer amount of shaded areas and water fans for cooling down. That’s something you don’t see all the time. Fed the giraffes which was super fun. Food wasn’t extremely overpriced (still expensive but could have been worse), and animals were SO cute! Staff was super helpful and kind, and it’s a very family friendly activity.

The park offers various activities such as zip-lining, bobsled rides, and adventure ropes courses. It serves as a training ground for professional athletes and hosts national competitions for ski jumping, bobsledding, skeleton, Nordic combined, and luge events.
What a neat place to visit! We had a wonderful guide who talked about the 2002 Olympics and what the park is doing now. He showed us the whole park. Such a great experience. I highly recommend going here. Plus the have zip lines and summer bobsledding you can try!

The Olympic Park was very interesting and free! We went through both museums and the gift shop. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We got to watch people practice jumping on the airbag and into the pool. The pool practice was really entertaining. The staff can tell you when athletes will be practicing. Unfortunately we were not able to go on the tour as it was sold out. Make sure to buy tickets ahead of time if you want to ensure you make it. Worth your time.

We did the Gold Pass and enjoyed our whole allotted time! So many fun activities, and some you can’t do anywhere else. We did the zip lines, ropes course, tubing down the ski jumps, activity tower, and alpine slide. We had so much fun! And we got challenged, which was a bonus. Our 9 and 16 year old boys had a blast! It can be somewhat expensive, but we felt it was worth it. Have an adventurous attitude and you won’t be disappointed. It was also really cool to watch the ski jumpers and aerialists practice. Very fun day!

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable. He was a snowboard coach from Ohio. We loved it all. I zip lined, worth it & fun! Bobsled sounded scary. $20 tour was worth it. Museum was cool. Getting to see the skiers practice in the pool was cool too.

Fun place to visit in mid July warm but yet cool with the breeze. We are local and for a family of 4 we spent $700 ish with tax for the day of 4 hours (we only do this once a summer since it’s quite pricey but worth the memories at least once a yr) Hint Buy the 3.5 hour pass and your bobsled is discounted by $40 each but select your bobsled pass time for later in the day if you have to as the 3.5 hour pass starts after purchase. Otherwise you’ll miss out on all the events if the line is long for bobsled. However if you are here a couple of hours before the park closes then maybe on select only a couple of things to do depending on the line So you can maximize dollars and time instead of the park pass. There is a mini zip line that is much shorter distance than the one at the park city resort but here it zip lines to a free fall drop to get down. The main zip line is similar distance to park city So recommend you do the pass with tubing and alpine slide first as those are longer lines following zip line and rope stuff since it’s all in the same vicinity then bob sled if we were to do it all over again … next yr! The alpine slide is my favorite here and it’s shaded all the way down unfortunately only one lane vs park city with 4 lane options. Required closed toes shoes for every thing and good mobility to hike down to extreme tubing so be prepared. Having done both park city and Olympic park, better bang for the bucks here but more the events are a. It spread out so more walking and hiking.🥾 probably more rigorous to get to different events. This park doesn’t have much food option or shopping like park city but it’s like 3 mins down to kimball junction if that’s what you are interested in.

My husband, daughter and I enjoyed coming out to Park City Mountain View. We took Our lesson today and it was nice outside. Not that cold at all except for the snow. 🤪 Our instructor Lucas was great! Loved his chill vibe. He was patient, kind, encouraging and helpful as we moved from one lesson to the other. We were three and he still kept up with our needs. We all needed different tips for where we were in the progression of the lesson. I believe as a beginner to snow sports it’s better to come at this time after the high season or before. It just gives you more space to learn around fewer people compared to the high season. Beautiful scenery all around!🙏😎🥰 We will be back. Thanks Lucas!!!

Went to Utah for the snow. Chose this one since it was the only one on the epic. Expected a bit of snow but from what I heard it was crowded. Over that weekend, I got the most snow in my life. I’m sure if you went into the cottonwood canyons you’d get more snow but Park City wonderful.

Love this place!!! I come here every year to ski and I have to say it is an amazing place. The locals there are just so friendly and willing to help out with anything. I really like the variety of runs that they have on just blacks. The food is expensive but if you have an epic pass you can get a discount on your food. Ski school is great for beginners and kids. Overall it’s a great place and will keep you entertained for your stay.

Park city Mountain is a great resort and has beautiful views, but it’s mostly cat track runs with not too much off piste. This place 20 or 30 years ago would’ve been absolutely amazing however they have not invested in any of the infrastructure since then the ski lifts are battered and busted up the chairlifts of literally from the 1980s. They need to take a leaf out of the European resort and start improving the chairlifts and having bubbles and heated seats with eight man chairlifts that run on each of the lifts. You are charging a quadruple the price of a European ski ticket per day so therefore put the money back into the mountain and stop taking the profits. One person on a ski lift yesterday told me it was all about the historical nature of the mountain. Well I’d like to remind that guy that Europe was around a lot longer before the Usa was. But on a constructive note it would be helpful for the price of the lift ticket that the ski lifts were updated for a top class resort you’d expect top class facilities.

Park City Main Street Historic District is a charming downtown area with shops and restaurants housed in century-old buildings. The picturesque setting includes snow-covered mountains in winter and vibrant fall foliage. Visitors can capture slice-of-life moments, like kids enjoying ice cream or diners laughing under umbrellaed tables. Staying in town offers easy access to dining and shopping but may require a shuttle ride to the ski slopes.
We stayed about 4 miles down the road, but would highly recommend staying in this area (although it may get busy at night). Explored every morning, when everyone else was out skiing and it is such a cute, quintessential long strip of restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, art galleries, and known shopping. Plenty of parking choices to pick from and variety for all.

Nice area with pretty and quaint little shops, restaurants and art galleries. Perfect for a day visit. Had a nice stroll along the street with a few designated stops in some of the stores, and had nice chats with some store and art gallery owners. Had a good pleasant lunch in a taco restaurant, and an after lunch sweet bite in the local chocolate shop.

Having never been to Park City before I was shocked at how sprawling it is. We stated a hotel with the Olympic ski jump as a backdrop. However 8 mi away was the beautiful Park City Old Town Newtown whatever you want to call it. It is simply gorgeous. We were there early so only the coffee shops showed signs of life. But it was a great time to see the community without the hustle and bustle. Weather was perfect. We aren't much for snow anymore. So Park City in the summer is as good as it gets.

A nice looking town with lots of high to overpriced shops to browse. Got some good exercise walking down then up hill. It does have a trolley to help people out. Occupied a couple of hours looking around. Asked a shop clerk about public rest rooms and she rudely told us they were next door. They got the job done at best. It is interesting how such upscale towns have such poorly maintained facilites for people that are spending money in the town.

Wow, what a great little town to be in. There are so many galleries. Many great art and photography works. I can imagine this will be a great place to be when the skiers come back in the winter.

Christmas snow globe tour was a little bummer. The website made it seem it would be a little more interactive. Some are spaced really far apart. Had a little higher expectations considering it is in Park City. The decorations on Main Street was cute. Loved the tree. We happened to be there the night Santa was supposed to ski down the slopes. No Santa unlike what the site claimed it was to happen. Big bummer for the kiddos!

Came here to have lunch/drinks on the desk to relax and enjoy the beautiful views they have here on the terrace. My fault I forgot it was a holiday, and they were fully booked; but the nicest male host/manager (tried to catch his name as I left but couldn't find him later) gave me a nice spot to enjoy a mimosa regardless. Super lovely host/manager, I would always come back here for dinner/lunch/drinks on a non-busy holiday. The place is spectacular, be prepared to make a reservation for a weekend or holiday. Thank you Deer Valley folks!

While I love skiing Deer Valley and enjoy the amenities & service… they have eliminated the affordable Locals Ski Pass this 25/26 season. The new “Limited” pass is $1500 and makes it hard for non wealth locals and workers to enjoy the slopes. I find it sad and disappointing that Deer Valley is pushing higher prices and exclusivity over actual benefits for the sport & community !

BEWARE NEVER BUY SEAON PASS INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have lived in Park City for over twenty years. Skied at DV for longer. I had bilateral foot surgery last year. For that reason, I purchased insurance on my pass. I didn't use it one time. After submitting all the required documentation, their subsidiary company declined a refund. This is gross injustice. I think DV needs a serious reevaluation.

Honestly we had a great time. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Outside of the fact that everything was VERY expensive. Which is totally my perception, so we passed on getting lunch. Went to the top of the mountain and it was amazing. On the way down to the area with the stage and trailers that were selling food and beverages. We went to the ice cream shop and I requested 1. Kids cup single scoop with (free one choice mind you) gummy bears. $4 + $1 for the gummy bears. 1. Single scoop cone with (not charged for free one choice) (free one choice mind you) butterfinger dust. $7 1. Single scoop cup with rainbow sprinkles (free one choice mind you) $7 + $1 for sprinkles. SPRINKLES Total ending at $34.22 What math is this?? She was alone and trying so hard. But to be charged for the free option on the scoops. And to be charged $14 dollars over what is clearly written on the side of the trailer. She was flustered and had a line growing behind me so I didn’t want to give her a hard time since she was obviously overwhelmed. I want a refund for paying almost double what I received and requested

The music was great! But the organization was poor. The line was chaotic, inefficient, and not effective. I know for a fact that people around me in the line told the staff their bags had been checked and they were not. Bring your own food. The options there are limited, expensive, and not good. Just exiting the amphitheater proved to be a challenge. Half the hill was ripped through the restaurant with the path partly blocked. Traffic and foot traffic exiting conflicted and could have been greatly improved.

Visitors can take guided tours of this cave at the end of a 1.5 mile trail from May to September.
The Timpanogos Cave Trail offers a rewarding and accessible hike with impressive views. Although the parking lot was packed, the timed-entry system keeps the number of visitors on the trail and in the cave at a manageable level. The paved trail climbs steadily with a significant elevation gain over a short distance, but it’s still very doable for most hikers. Before heading up, there’s a brief safety orientation which helps set expectations. The cave tour itself is fascinating, walking through the stalactite cave is a unique and well organized experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

You need tickets (<$40 for 3), and a national forest pass (America the Beautiful pass). You meet at the visitor center at your ticket time. So your ticket time is when you begin your hike, and your cave tour at the top of the hike starts at 1.5 hours after your ticket time. We completed the hike faster, and we were able to get in on an earlier tour because there was room. The hike isn’t crazy. It’s steep, but there’s intermittent shade. Especially if you’re from Utah and are used to hiking you will be totally fine. Sea level folks struggle a bit. Great cave tour, the guides are well prepared and do a good job leading you through so that you don’t hit your head or trip. They know what to say when to say it. They share interesting facts about the cave and did a good job answering the group’s questions. We didn’t need the coats we brought.

This is one of my favorite places to visit in all of Utah. The hike to get to the cave is breathtaking in every sense of the word. Very strenuous, but paved and has spectacular views. The cave itself is so interesting and beautiful. I was shocked by the vibrant colors. The tour guides are very knowledge and make it fun. Make sure to reserve tickets in plenty of advance. I wouldn’t recommend doing the hike during the summer afternoon (morning is best for summer). There is a bathroom at the top near the cave entrance, which is great (but stinky). The tour takes about an hour and the hike takes about 1.5 hours for a slow group.

All right, it’s very steep, but there are a lot of benches along the way for you to rest! We booked a 9 AM start time for our hike, but we got there early and started around 8 AM because we know we’re a bit slower. We had two seniors and an asthmatic in tow. We had to be at the caves at 10:30 and we arrived right at 10:20-ish. They were very nice and had no problem with us starting earlier this way, we didn’t have to feel like we were killing ourselves on the way up lol We did the cave tour and there was a lot of bending and twisting. They won’t allow poles in the cave unless they can fold up very small. My poles were able to fold up small enough to fit in their box, but my in-laws poles could not fold that small and they had to put them down in the Bear box. You also can’t bring very big backpacks. Think more the size of a bladder bag besides if you’re in the cave, you’re not gonna want much bigger than that anyways because you have a lot of bending and twisting, and you need to put your bag in front of you quite a bit because the bag and you won’t fit when you’re ducking from getting your head hit on all of the formations in the cave. There was one section that was especially challenging going up the stairs because the formation took over half the stair. Just be prepared to twist bend and potentially crawl depending in how tall and wide you may be. We were exhausted but we made it! There’s also a super fun book you can sign at the end of the cave tour to leave your mark of saying “you were here”

This hike to the cave is absolutely worth the visit! The hike up is definitely steep, but the views along the way make it totally worth it. Thankfully, there are plenty of resting points where you can catch your breath, enjoy the scenery, and take in the canyon below. Once you reach the top, the cave tour itself is incredible, the formations are beautiful and the rangers do a great job explaining the history and geology. If you’re up for a challenge with a rewarding payoff, this is the perfect adventure!

Well worth the 3 Mile round-trip hike gaining and losing 1100 ft and well worth the money for a ticket. Our trail was asphalted and carefully taken care of. It was a joy to walk on. Our park ranger guide was an archeologist who knew his stuff and made the cave tour fun and exciting. Expect the whole experience to take you 3-1/2 plus hours. You must buy tickets beforehand and with tour size limited to 16 people, they go fast. You can get them at recreation.gov. this national monument doesn't disappoint! Note: If the tour is sold out or you just don't want to go through it, you are free to hike the trail up to the caves at no cost.

It's a very good exercise to get to the entrance of the cave. Inside is very cold (around 50F or 10C) so bring some warm clothes. A bottle of water is just fine. Cave is not what you imagining, it's very tight and and few places you have to go in crunch just to pass overhead walls. It is a good experience.

Make sure to buy tickets online in advance, because they sell out, especially on weekends. There isn't a cost to enter the park but there's a cost to take the tour. The walk up to the tour is paved, but it's not easy. I would not recommend this tour for children, and the path up to the cave tour is not stroller friendly. The cave, itself, is also not stroller friendly. The 1.5 mile walk uphill took us just over 40 mins and we're in pretty good shape. I would absolutely not recommend this for your elderly mother visiting from a lower elevation, for example. The tour itself is okay, but definitely nowhere near the best cavern tours we've taken. The lighting inside the cave is pretty poor and the explanations inside the cave are not as thorough as we thought they'd be. Note for your walk back down the very steep trail - you're not allowed to run on the trail. I'd absolutely recommend bringing a lot of water for the walk, a light jacket for the cave, a (very) small backpack for holding your water and jacket while you're in the cave, sunscreen, and a hat. In the parking lot there is an electric vehicle charger, but it's out of service.

Bridal Veil Falls

Nature & Parks
Bridal Veil Falls is a scenic waterfall located close to U.S. route 189 with a paved trail and picnic area equipped with tables. The falls are accompanied by frozen sections that enhance its beauty making it an ideal spot for sightseeing. It provides an opportunity for a short hike along the river, showcasing a series of waterfalls providing picturesque views.
Took my teenage granddaughters to this free experience. Of course, they wanted to climb up to get close in personal with the falls at the top. I figured there was an easier way to get there than straight up the waterfall. But that is the path they took. And I figured I needed to stay with them. It was not a super easy route, but I am in my 60s and I made it and lived to tell about it. On the way down, I found the proper trail That zigzags at a much better grade to the top. That trail starts at the bottom, right near the bridge from the parking lot. I highly recommend going that route. I also do not suggest hiking up on icy days. It was June when we made the trek That said, the falls are gorgeous. My granddaughters are from out of town and said this was one of their favorite hikes. They loved the waterfalls and spent considerable time, taking photos and selfies at the top and enjoying the vistas. There are some wading pools at the bottom where younger children—with supervision—can get their feet wet while those more venturous can hike to the top.

This was a great hike up to the fall. You can see them from the bottom without much of a hike, but we took the actual trail up further to get better pictures and it was just enough to get your blood pumping, but it wasn’t too tough. Two seniors and an asthmatic managed without issues.

I was recommended this place by a local. At the water falls base is a kid friendly basin that holds the water before it enters the river: couple feet deep. For hikers: there are a couple ways to get up to the lookout. Up the river, and the two unpaved, rocky paths that starts from the path to the base of the river. I’d recommend the “hard path” for more experienced hikers and the “easy path” for everyone else willing to walk across some relatively vertical and shaky spots. Having a hard time finding the “easy path”? Go back down and look for the diverge to the left: it is easy to miss. When you make it you will be rewarded with a gorgeous and comfortable view, sparkling clear water and some clay. Overall, pretty quick hikes (maybe 15 mins?).

We love riding bikes on the Provo River Trail through Provo Canyon. You have to dismount by Bridal Veil Falls and walk through the crowds before you can mount bikes and ride again, but the stop to look at the falls is always spectacular no matter what season of the year.

Walk and roll, disabled veterans use this trail for wheelchairs. We love it, paved, with good parking, enough restrooms, just a nice trail for all abilities

Such a beautiful place to visit with a wonderful, paved walking trail and lots of shade. Keep in mind that there is no shade directly at the base of the falls and it can get hot and crowded. I hope they clean things up around the base of the falls soon. There has been what looks like a makeshift bridge there for a while. It makes things look half baked, messy, not ready to make a great impression for visitors. If I came from out of town, I'd feel a bit let down. What can the community do to help?

Gorgeous walk. Trails up to the base of the falls are rough.

Trails were fun, pretty easy and flat unless you want to go closer to the top of the fall then it’s pretty steep and recommend hiking shoes and be cautious. The lower trails is a nice walk fresh air. Be careful around the river it can be very dangerous.

Established in 1875, Brigham Young University is a private Mormon institution renowned for its stunning campus and strong athletic programs. The university boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and meticulously maintained gardens. Additionally, visitors can explore various attractions such as art and paleontology museums, a fine arts center, and a creamery. Despite being affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, BYU welcomes students from diverse religious backgrounds. Many praise the university for its exceptional professors and high-quality education.
This is one of the best Universities in the entire country! Not only do they teach great academics, but is one of the few that hasn't gone completely rediculous woke! The Wasatch mountains just behind it are some of the most beautiful as well. Football games in this stadium are so fun and the backdrop is breathtaking!

I forgot to do this when I graduated last year 😂 but I was getting this notification and wanted to wait until I graduated! Like any college, it is hard! BYU will give a challenging education, but it is rewarding to finish!! But, that's only part of it!! I loved the professors there. No mascot beats Cosmo (ours), and the mountains and landscaping on our campus makes this area very beautiful!!!

I am a current student as of writing this. I love this university with all my heart. Professors are so knowledgeable and so amazing in their fields. I love how BYU focuses on students gaining intelligence, and also focuses on having them become Disciples of Jesus Christ. I have no doubt that me and all the other students who graduate this university will have the opportunity to bless many lives.

Today I visited the school of music for the first time. The visitor parking was close an accessible. The building was incredible! Beautiful space for concerts, recitals, practicing and small conventions! Thanks BYU for hosting the PTG Super Saturday.

Outstanding university with a talented pool of students. Situated in one of the most breathtakingly scenic locations for a university campus, with stunning mountains on the doorstep of the school, your walks to class will be often awe-inspiring. There has been a lot of updating on the campus. Make no mistake, this is a unique environment that won't be for everyone. But for active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or those who like the clean-cut environment, it is a great place to get an education. Though it has a well-deserved reputation as being very conservative, you will find a lot more political diversity here than you expect on many issues. And with the majority of students from outside the state of Utah, in many ways, it is more diverse than any other school in Utah, and less in the "bubble" than critics often claim. Great place to get an education. And the cost for the value is incredible!

Brigham Young University has been voted 21st of the prettiest college campuses. It is a stunning campus nestled beneath the gorgeous Cascade mountains with the huge Y on it. BYU is known for their high standards in academics, integrity, and morality. The campus has beautiful landscaping, the buildings are kept up nicely and are beautifully designed. The student housing is new and nice. Great place to go for further education. #most_beautiful_University

Great university! Amazing value for the price and I liked how it included a religious education. I have many fond memories of lots of classes that I took (in the psychology and business departments). If you’re looking for a school with high moral and ethical standards, then this is the place for you. On the other hand, BYU might not be for everyone, to be honest. There is a strict honor code that all students must live by to keep a good standing with the university. While there is always some room for activism to change the university's honor code standards, BYU is a private university and may not be required to make such changes. If you're looking for a university in Utah Valley that does not hold students to the same moral standard as BYU, then Utah Valley University may be a better place to look for an education. At the end of the day, I think that this is a great place to study for anyone who is looking for academic rigor, a religious education, and a university that holds a high moral standard. Oh, and if you like chocolate milk, there's a lot of that. And there are lots of nice mountains that are right behind the school.
