Lester Garland House, a site and shop managed by the Trinity Historical Society, is a reconstructed museum and learning center located on the original site of the first brick house in Newfoundland. The historical society has meticulously restored several buildings in Trinity, including this elegant home that belonged to the prominent British Garland family. Visitors can explore preserved artifacts that unravel mysteries of history while being guided by knowledgeable staff who bring stories to life.
The historical society has done a first rate restoration on a number of buildings in Trinity! We toured the Lester Gardner House. The Garland family were a very successful & prominent British family who operated a large fishing fleet and processing operation in Trinity in the early 1700 ‘s. Their home was very elegant for its time!

This is a must stop if you plan to visit Trinity. The staff is full of stories and make the visit much more complete. This is a beautiful little town but without the history it's just that a beautiful little town and nothing more.
Lucas B — Google review
(Translated by Google) The visit to the local buildings is $15 and the provincial ones are $6 or 20 for both. We did the $15 tour in two hours. The quality of the exhibitions sometimes leaves something to be desired. Blacksmithing and cooperage are recommended. In this tour three of the four buildings have souvenir items. (Original) La visite des bâtiments locaux est à 15$ et des provinciaux est à 6$ ou 20 pour les deux. Nous avons fait le circuit à 15$ en deux heures. Loved this trail. Did the whole thing..Was a short loop on the end but trail took a bit over 2 hours to complete. Beautiful scenery. Lots of beaches to explore.
Renée M — Google review
It's a great coastal trail. Many beaches and ocean lookouts. An easy trail that has enough length to make for a half day hike if you include a picnic. Or you can walk as much as you have time for. There are some loops at the far end.
Dave R — Google review
If you're looking for a flat, by Newfoundland standards, trail, this is the trail for you. Lots of nice views from along the trail. With the outer loop and getting mildly lost at one point, it ended up being about 11 km. The downsides about this trail are lots of marine debris (e.g. ropes, gloves, assorted plastic, etc.) and the path seems like it is consistently wet in many places
Aaron A — Google review
Beautiful trail along shoreline.
Bill F — Google review
Beautiful doesn't do it justice. Truly an amazing trail.
Richard L — Google review
A bathroom facility and more benches would make this a 5-star
Lisa B — Google review
Many terrains, variety in landscape, spectacular scenery
Genie P — Google review
This is a fairly easy 3 hour return hike along the coast. There are lots of beautiful things to see, especially around sunset. The trail is a well marked and maintained, except for the very far end of the loop near Cow Head Beach where there are fallen trees and the trail is over-grown. There are small interior spots protected from the wind that are quite warm, but be sure to bring a jacket as the wind whipping off the water can be chilly. Enjoy!

Nestled in the heart of the Bonavista Peninsula on Canada's East Coast, The View Golf Resort is a hidden gem offering a complete resort experience, picturesque accommodations, and a scenic nine-hole golf course. Guests praise the clean and comfortable rooms with stunning views. The friendly staff, including Coleen at the front desk, are known for going above and beyond to ensure a memorable stay. Visitors also rave about the challenging yet well-maintained golf course and reasonable pricing.
We stayed one night there because we did not like to drive in darkness. The apartment we got was very nice and very clean. Coleen, the lady at the desk was unbelievably helpfull and did not mind to work overtimes. I used the chance to add one more golfcourse on my "played on the rock" list.

Had a great round of golf, on a very challenging 9 hole course. Beautifully kept greens and fairways. Friendly staff and great food. Priced reasonably, good bang for the buck.

Great course and great shape atm. Friendly staff as always and again the view is fantastic. It wasn't busy 7th July which is a shame because it's a course that you shouldn't pass up. Cheers 👍

This is a wonderful trail. Be aware there are lots of stairs to climb when deciding to take this trail. Beautiful view of Clarenville and the water. There are plaques and a viewing binoculars. Nice spot to have lunch. You can also go further to meet up with the Shoal Harbour Trail that I will venture on today. Easy parking and trail is to the right at the edge of the woods. Enjoy!
Lynn V — Google review
Great trail for hiking or trail running! Well maintained and well marked. Parking lot on the Manitoba Rd. side of the trail.
Steph R — Google review
I was in the area of Port Blantford / Clarenville and wanted to do a good hike that wouldn't take me all day. This one will only take you about an hour to an hour and a half depending how quick you are, and the view at the top is definitely worth it.
Stephen O — Google review
It was ok, no gift shop or amenities but a good view of the bay and car park. If you do they loop you might find blueberries. Look out for the secret message.
Daniel F — Google review
This is a fantastic view on a reasonably easy trail. There are stairs and some inclines which are a bit steep, but overal a short walk that is still an easy difficulty. However! The path is not well marked and many of the signs have been knocked loose or down. The route is not on Google Maps, so it is worth keeping an eye on where you are going.
Francesca P — Google review
Beautiful trail that takes you to an incredible view at the top of the mountain! Took us about an hour to do the loop and there were a few benches along the way. Signage was pretty good too
Kerri C — Google review
Beautiful trail with lookouts on the way. Nice trail to take children and to walk your dog.

White Hills Resort

Ski resort
Outdoor Activities
White Hills Resort is a ski area situated near Clarenville on the east coast of Newfoundland. Covering 55 acres, it offers a variety of slopes suitable for all skill levels, from beginners to experts. With 12 downhill slopes available for skiing and snowboarding, most are geared towards novice and intermediate levels. Despite its lack of nearby mountains, this smaller resort provides an excellent experience with friendly staff and adequate equipment rental for novices.
Annual Tour De Summit fat bike ride is amazing.
Mike S — Google review
White hill resort was great and fully equipped... And they maintained the health rules... The snowboarding and skiing equipment were high quality. The instructors were helpful and expert....
Tanjil I — Google review
While I'm sure the down hill slopes are great the cross country need a better review. These are not beginner trails, even the easiest one has large hills. The staff weren't even sure how to properly size the ski's or the poles. Trails are not well marked either but were well groomed.
Warren — Google review
Amazing experience. I tried Sking, and some of my group mates tried snowboarding. It was fun. Make sure you wear hand gloves while playing.
Sumanth S — Google review
Fun place to ski. Great place for kids to sharpen their skills. Cross country trails some of the best on the island. Snowshoe trails as well.
Jonathan E — Google review
Never go there after raining day!!! There will be more ice than snow😢 I slipped and hurt my knee😵😭😭😭😭 The emergency rescue is good and professional.
Vivian T — Google review
For not having mountains anyplace nearby, this smaller ski resort delivers a great experience. Staff is 100% kind and ready to help. For my novice skills, the slopes are more than enough to have my adrenaline pumping. Equipment rental is good (again, for my novice skill). The chair lift is getting old now, but it was safe and took me to the top of the hill with no issues. Then it was all fun going downhill. The magic carpet and the beginners slope is also good and I hit it several times before attempting the chair lift ride. I try to visit the White Hills at least once in the season and I'll keep going!
JP — Google review
Perfectly groomed snowshoeing trails, and so well maintained! I did a 3.5km trail, Harry’s Loop, with some friends at night. The trail was well lit and well marked. I enjoyed my snowshoe experience so much and have been back to hike the trail in the day time as well. Will be checking out the skiing and snowboarding with my kids when it opens for the season!

Very sweet ...great information about the life of this unique community. Poor signage and the parking was confusing.

Small but worth the visit, community museum with a hard walking trail behind it. Beautiful boat model inside with other local pieces such as birch brooms that were hand made. Lovely area with soaring cliffs with trails & lookouts, beautiful harbour. We stayed at the Feather & Fin bed & breakfast in Sandringham which is located roughly 15 kms from this museum.

Eastport Beach

Beach

Eastport Beach is a top beach destination in the province, boasting of excellent amenities such as restaurants, shops and accommodations. The beach is situated near other stunning sandy beaches like Eastport Beach North and Sandy Cove Beach which are just a few minutes' drive away. It has white sandy beaches and rocky outcrops that provide magnificent scenery for visitors. In addition, there is a well-managed coastal trail boardwalk connecting two beautiful beaches that face Salvage Bay.
Beautiful relaxing sandy beach, lots of jellyfish though.
Hoda G — Google review
Amazing beach, really sandy and family friendly, there are some rocks you can climb over to go to a secret beach. The high tide trail is really cool and it's relatively short, there are a bunch of mini beaches to stop at on the way. If you do the whole trail you end up at a quieter less busy beach. On both sides of the trail they have bathrooms, the one on the other beach is in the parking lot. The beach is usually busy on really sunny days. Me and my family go there on cooler days so it's not as busy. Not great for beach combing though... Nice for swimming! If you have kids who want to make friends it's a great place to go to, just arrive early so you can get a spot. In later summer it does have a lot of jellies. Lots of rocks on both the far sides of the beach for rock hopping! There is a big brook that your kids can play in and build dams, towns, and sandcastles on or by. It has an access ramp for wheelchairs and more! It has a barbecue hut too! With benches. I think they have a Canada day celebration with free food and prizes, now this was a few years ago so... it is a really nice beach and recommended for everyone! :D
Leonora C — Google review

Just went to visit someone. Beautiful place. Has lots for kids.
Edie A — Google review
There’s no wifi, the service here sucks my brother asked how much is it was to play mini golf and the manager said it was free then the next day my brother went to go get it again and they made a big ol deal saying that it costs money but the manager said it didn’t. you have to pay for everything here the pool, the hot tub,and mini golf this stuff should be free, 25$ for half hour in the hot tub I don’t think so.
Harrison M — Google review
Our site was too small for our camper, and the access to the power was on the wrong side of the site, meaning our camper couldn’t hook up to it. They did give us a refund, however, it was in cash because the people working there didn’t know how to give us one otherwise. I genuinely believe that this has the potential to be a great vacation place for some, but it definitely was not for us.
Jaydy — Google review
NOT GOOD YOU HAVE YOU PAY FOR EVERYTHING, hot tubs, pool, and mini golf etc.bouncy castle was ripped up and my son cut his eye on it, little kids play on this they have to be careful not a safe place. They drive crazy and fast around here at dark and day there’s kids going around HERE! not good not coming back
Paige M — Google review
This is a beautiful campground to go with kids. Loads of things to do. We loved our stay at this park. We got to rent and RV which was really nice. We had never been camping in and RV before so it was a new experience for us. We enjoyed every minute of it. The staff were wonderful and the food from the diner was delicious!! The kids LOVED the train. Pool was nice and the beach was lovely. The Go-karts we're a big hit as well. The campground is clean and neat. We will definitely go back again sometime.
Vicki G — Google review
Went for a skidoo trip. Lovely rooms, enough for what we needed. Had enough cooking utensils to cook with, towels were plentiful. Bed was only a double but we fit. Hottub was great, could use a rougher step area as it did get slippery with ice.. of course it was -14 so ice forming was to be expected. we just threw a towel down. Caretakers went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. Definitely going back again. Only issue we had was the kids from the other guest stomping up the halls at 12:30 slamming doors.. but that was the parents fault.
S M — Google review
This place is super run down. Staff was partying for a staff party( which is totally fine ) if they weren’t driving around the campsite drunk at 9:30 at night. Totally infuriating especially with kids running around. Septic had to get pumped and took 2 days for bathrooms/ showers to work. Staff was very rude about the whole situation. Everything costs too much money( pool, hot tub, shower, etc) It’s really too bad because we used to love staying here but will find another place next year. WAY TOO GHETTO!!!! DON’T DO IT!!!!!
Sarah N — Google review
Stopped in here on the way across the island on our Staycation 2020 trip with our 7 year old and got the summer special. We rode the train, played mini golf, raced the go-carts and had some ice cream. We had a pass for the swimming pool too but are saving it for another time this summer. Great family fun and excellent customer service. Special shout out to Alex who was our train conductor and set us up on the go karts. He was the absolute best. Will be back!

Really nice. I was there for a visit and the cabins are amazing. It makes you feel like your out in the woods.
Richard L — Google review
Recently worked with the owners to purchase this facility. I spent thousands of dollars of personal money and at the eleventh hour they abolished the contract and began to sell to someone else. After counting all the costs we are indeed glad that things transitioned the way they did however If your looking to purchase this please be careful and count all the costs involved. Take their word with a grain of salt. They have no problem wasting your time, resources and hard earned money.
Matthew L — Google review
Great spot. Our cabin was very clean and updated........ for a cabin. It is walking distance to splash n putt which is our main reason for staying there. We have been to 4 different locations in the area over the past couple of years. And this is our favorite.
Jason C — Google review
Review focused on the entertainment options: About as closed to a theme park as you get in Newfoundland. I've been a half dozen times in my life and its stayed pretty much the same since. The mini golf is great, as are the bumper cars and boats. That said the bumper boats and Go Karts always seem to be in a mixed state of repair and that can affect the number of riders supported. Splash N Putt isnt the sort of high budget place as something like Canadas Wonderland and somethings are maybe a little rougher than you might expect. You can expect minor scrapes and bumps for you or your kids. To me that was always part of the experience but more concerned parents may want to be careful if you have kids with a condition of fragility.
L T — Google review
great fun. however, the staff is terrible & do not smile at all. they seem miserable! bumper cars are super unsafe so be careful.

Washed Ashore Antiques and Coffee Bar

Shopping
Loved our stumble upon this place! The owner, Kirk, was so friendly and spoke with us about the business and products. Everything is very fairly priced and you'll find something for yourself or as a gift, I'm sure of it. We couldn't help but pick up some nice glasses, some catnip, an ice bucket, and this great pelican "piece" 😆. They serve coffee and cookies (homemade!) and also have a bathroom in which you can buy what's on the walls. You will not be sorry to stop into this place on your drive across the shore.
Fatt M — Google review
Great find . I've been wanting an indestructible mat for our house entrance .I found it there at WASHED ASHORE FOR ONLY SIXTY DOLLARS .It's made of very thick nautical rope and died beautifully. Of coarse I had to buy a wonderful atch all bag from the same wonderful pattern!!!

We really love Washed Ashore. It's so unique and we always have a grand chat with the owner and our last coffee on the road before we arrive at the cabin. For everyone travelling through C-W-T it's definitely worth a stop (especially if you're looking to get a unique gift).

The Thomas Howe Demonstration Forest Walking Trails offer a variety of options for hikers, with different types of forests to explore and informative signs detailing the area's logging history. The trails are well-maintained and suitable for all skill levels, providing a peaceful and educational experience. Whether you're looking for a quick stroll or a longer hike, these trails offer something for everyone, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
First time actually going to Thomas howe a few days ago, love the trails, it's a really good hike. It's great for exercise. There's a few different trails to take, boards telling information about trees, nice place to go not having to worry about crowds of people.

By far this has become ONE of not the one- of my favourite walking trails. If you are visiting Gander this trail is a must. The plaques demonstrate the Indigenous ways to plant medicines and the trail is timed so you know how long you are walking or from the parking lot. It can be long or short. Several offshoots of trails. The Black spruce is stunning! So tall and lots of wildlife. Along this trail you’ll see so many remnants of the plane crashes from WW2 which is so historical and moving all at the same time. Dogs are allowed and overall just a beautiful trail to walk! I do believe the parking lot makes its way to the trail which can be walked all the way to the trail by the beach at Silent Witness Memorial. Has become one of my favourites. In winter I am told there is snow shoeing and cross country skiing! If you’re travelling with a dog- it’s a must!!

Walked to the lake, lots of rocks and exposed roots. I prefer the trail behind the tourist chalet.

Great walking trails a variety of trails to choose from if you want a quick stroll or a longer hike.

Solid and well-maintained trails, lots of signs that can turn it into a learning experience as well. I believe there's a bathroom on-site as well.

Beautiful trail but too much debris left on walking trail after they widened the trail.

Gander Heritage Memorial Park

Park
A small park with a lot of plaques depicting the various air disasters that Gander was unfortunately witness to. It was nice to stop here and read about these unfortunate events and also learn about Sgt Gander, the Newfoundland dog!

The town has done a wonderful job of updating the old Cenotaph area. Well laid out memorials to military service personnel and local aviation events. Benches for sitting and also nicely illuminated in the nighttime.

The North Atlantic Aviation Museum in Gander is a captivating showcase of the region's rich aviation history. From its pivotal role during wartimes to being a major refueling hub for trans-Atlantic flights, the museum covers it all. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring aircraft, artifacts, and stories that span from the early days of flight to modern aviation technology.
Though small this museum has an excellent timeline of history of aviation in the area. As Gander and it's existence is so based on the airport this is truly the story of Gander and all that has come to be there with the airport. From the idea of air travel across the ocean up to 9/11 and Gander's unique role, the museum gives a great look at how things there came to about and what the role of aviation was in it. A great stop in the area!
Katherine H — Google review
Awesome museum. Inside the exhibits show historical aspects of the maritime aeronautical heritage of Gander airport. There is also an area dedicated to the impact of the airport on pioneer transatlantic crossings and later during early commercial flights. Lastly, the area dedicated to the outstanding generosity of Newfoundlanders on 911 is great. Four outdoor exhibits are quite attractive and features a PBY Catalina, a CF 101 Vodoo and two other airplanes. A must for all visitors of The Rock.
Ivan S — Google review
Outstanding museum with so much interesting information. We skipped by it at first since it is set back but we stopped at the Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center and they redirected us. Self guided but easy to follow the history. Nice displays and many interactive. Huge planes outside but still easy to travel past. Well worth the stop
Alexandra M — Google review
Stopped by here on the weekend when it was closed but still looked around at the planes on display outside. It's a nice place with interesting things. I would have gone inside if I was around during the week while it was open.

Great little museum that details the history of Gander's airport. The airport's art in the second world War is explained and it's very interesting! The museum also has a section about 9/11 and the role the city played to help with the stranded passengers that landed there that day. The aircrafts outside are some of the sole remaining in the world. Not to be missed!
Jean-Marc P — Google review
Cool museum for aviation lowers, couple planes outside, one plane inside, simulators with MFS which is cool! A bit overpriced for how much there is on display compared to the museum in Halifax.. cool things in the gift store! Got myself a P51 mustang shirt!

A museum in Gander NL about North Atlantic Aviation. Good artifacts and info about aviation. Artifacts from 9/11 are found there.

It was ok, I wish they would restore the outdoor aircraft’s and make them more appealing to visitors and open the planes up for viewing… they do have boondocking for the night which was great!

The park features well-maintained walking trails that are accessible to everyone, making it easy for families with strollers or those needing wheelchair access to enjoy their time outdoors.
Have visited this park multiple times when travelling in gander. Is A beautiful park to have a picnic or take a walk around this beautiful lake with a great boardwalk. This is a must see for nature lovers in the gander area!

Misty day with a cool breeze blowing, but very nice park with interpretive signs and a boardwalk that goes around the pond.

A staple of my childhood and happy to have visited again recently (while on vacation from Ontario). A nice playground, free WiFi by the building, lots of benches, and accessible walkway (mostly a wooden walkway but sometimes gravel). Watch out for wildlife and many native plants (including pitcher plants)!
A. F — Google review
Scenic walk in a peaceful setting. So many improvements have been made to this beautiful park since my walks there while in Gander in the 1990s.
Gordon M — Google review
It's a beautiful, serene place which is alive with life. It offers walking trails, children's play areas, picnic areas, ducks, pond life, calmness, birds of many varieties, a safe board walk wide enough to include everyone, including the odd moose which may cross your path. There is a large separate dog pound to run one's dog freely. Dogs are allowed to walk the trails with families but must always be on a leash. Doggy bags are provided to help owners clean up after their loving pet. Bags can be deposited in garbage cans situated around the pond. The Pond is for everyone, please keep it clean for the benefit of all who enjoy going there to sit, to walk, to play, to enjoy the beauty of life in an all too often mixed up world.

Beautiful park! Nice board walk all the way around. Looks like there are some off trails, I didnt have the time to walk them all. I wish there was a map to show the routes and distances! Lots of friendly people walking around with their dogs
Nadine T — Google review
This is a wonderful place to visit for a good walk while taking in the natural surroundings of Cobb's Pond. There is a board walk that goes right around the pond and the total walk is roughly 3 kilometers. There were many people walking there dogs, a number of families, couples, and a few joggers going around the board walk.

Beautiful place with amazing walking trails. It was a great environment, with lots of fantastic rest areas and it is really well maintained. There are also pet bags at regular intervals along the path. Will definitely make this a regular rotation in my walking cycles.

Brimstone Head Hiking Trail on Fogo Island offers a challenging yet rewarding experience with stunning views. The trail is well-maintained and features both short and longer scenic routes, making it suitable for various hiking preferences. Despite being windy, the trail is relatively easy, thanks to wooden staircases and railings along the way. Hikers can enjoy picturesque views throughout the ascent, culminating in a marvelous panorama at the peak.
We went on a day where there was heavy fog but it was still worth it. Even though we couldn't view much from the top, seeing all the clouds passing below your feet is another surreal sight. Just remember that you may need to climb up lot of (well laid out) stairs. At certain sections at the top you will need to climb up over the rocks but there are guardrails in case it's windy out there. For your safety, I strongly recommend wearing good shoes with a nice grip. There's also a wishing well en route that they claim never dry up So my suggestion is, even if you see plenty of fog (which is common in certain seasons) you don't need to cancel. You will still get totally different experience. Plus if you sit out for a while fog may tend to go away too
Rengesh K — Google review
I would call this an easy with lots of steps! Plenty of places to stop and catch your breath as it is about 400 ft up to the top. The views are worth it. It also connects to some flatter trails that are also maybe a kilometer. A good set for an afternoon
Samantha L — Google review
My wife and I enjoyed this trail very much. It was a super windy day which make it a little more challenging, but parts of the trail has stairs to make it a little easier. There is a short path and a longer (scenic) route. The peak of the hike is gorgeous.

Windy and gorgeous. Lots of steps less than one mile out and back. Handrails along the way. The views are amazing. You can see Fogo so well from up there. Good area to park.

A lovely trail with beautiful views of fogo island. A few rocky sections that some people might find challenging if they struggle with balance or have ankle problems but mostly just straightforward and steps up to the top. A quick out and back trail that could be done in under an hour. A couple of other trails in the area as well. Lots of blueberries around end of July.

Notre Dame Provincial Park is a year-round camping destination with 100 RV-friendly campgrounds. Located just a kilometer from Notre Dame Junction and 40 kilometers from Gander, it offers a serene setting under coniferous trees where visitors can wake up to the sounds of local birds and wildlife. The park features beautiful lakes and ponds for swimming, well-distributed campsites with some offering scenic pond views, and helpful park rangers who maintain the cleanliness of the comfort stations.
Beautiful, well-maintained park that’s a perfect stop between St.John’s and the ferry terminal at Port Aux Basques. Lakeside spots are smallish but on the water. Other sites are large and private. We were in pull-through site 43, with 50-amp electric. Enough room to leave the car hitched, and secluded outside area for relaxing and dining. Nice beach and daily garbage collection at site. Friendly, helpful staff. Two downsides: 1) some noise from TCH, especially near the lake 2) no walking/hiking trails nearby
Jack R — Google review
Excellent park for camping. The camp Grounds and ambiance is amazing. We sneaked into the park just to check out the views, we were there for 30minutes, the staff allowed us to take a round. There were several RVs parked and many tents and camps setup. The ponds and lakes inside the park were amazing for swimming.
Kanchan K — Google review
Nice private sites, clean facilities, great pond to swim and big enough for a leisure kayak. Close on half powered sites and half not. None have water or sewer but several water filling stations through the park and a main dumping station.
Colin “ — Google review
Amazing park right off TCH 1. The 2 gentleman who I spoke with at the gate were pleasant and helpful. I will definitely be staying again on my way home. The view from my campsite was a pleasure watch. The loons were a added touch

Such a beautiful park. Loved that I could get on my paddle board right from our site. I spent all evening and the next morning exploring the pond on my board.
Melissa S — Google review
Simple but beautiful campground by the lakeside. The sites are not too close together and well distributed between the trees. Some sites have a great view of the pond. The staff at the check-in was available until late in the night as well, so late check-in is no problem.
Malte M — Google review
Lovely park. Especially if you can get a site on the water. Just wish they had potable water and more electrical sites.
Abe P — Google review
We had a Nice big site close to the comfort station which was very clean. Wifi, laundry, showers, a little games field with nets and corn hole. We asked the park staff when they drove by where we could buy wood (by the front entrance) and 10 minutes later he drove by our site and brought us a bag! We had a great night other than the group of kids screaming at the top of their lungs and running around the comfort station at 11pm Edit We stayed for a second time later in the week, totally understand it's labor day, we're tent camping with the trailers. The ungodly hanging lanterns and kids running around at 230am, quiet hours not enforced really ruined our experience here.

The room was clean and comfortable. Our host Wanda was fantastic. Could not have asked for a more welcoming and friendly person. Her breakfasts were the best start to a day. We had s wonderful 5 day stay.
Cate B — Google review
Horrendous! I’m 58 y/o and I’ve never encountered anything like this. First of all, the house looks unkept, you don’t really know where to park when you arrive and then you see the house is actually for sale. Nice. The owner is obviously a smoker and THE SMELL is impregnated everywhere 🤢. I really feel this should be made known to us beforehand (I certainly wouldn’t have booked there). The place feels more like an expensive couch-surfing experience than an inexpensive B&B. You literally have the feeling of having ended up at a distant cousin’s friend’s house for a wedding you didn’t even want to attend in the first place. Rooms are awfully decorated. TV was iPad sized. We didn’t even stay: over dinner we started frantically looking for somewhere - anywhere - else to stay. When we got back there to get our luggage (fortunately, we hadn’t unpacked) someone was crying and praying with someone else in front of our room 😳. Oh, and BTW, rooms are unlocked 🙄. I put one star because you can’t go below that rating. Wanda, the owner is nice though and was very understanding which made our escape easier.
Mireille D — Google review
Without a doubt, Wanda was by far our best host outside of friends and family. Over 15,000 KM on our motorcycle trip this summer, staying in lots of different places and this B & B is at the top, by a long shot, largely because of the larger than life person Wanda is. Wanda is a character and in a good way! Expect many laughs and we will always have this memory. Hopefully she will be there when we go back. And we will go back. The house was extremely clean, our room was very nice and breakfast was great. We met others who had stayed here before and always come back. I have already told friends travelling in Newfoundland about staying here. Go is all I can say.
Grant G — Google review
We were warmly welcomed into Wanda’s home. For supper, she directed us to one of our best fish meals of our three weeks in Nfld. We had a very comfortable night in a spacious room and were well fed the next morning. Centrally located.
Don W — Google review
The hosts were quite nice and the breakfast was good. That being said, the hosts SMOKE inside the house and the entire house (including rooms) smells like it... This is REALLY something they need to be transparent about before guests book with them, because if someone has asthma and shows up to this place without knowing this before hand, this could create quite an issue... It also appeared we were staying in the hosts actual bedroom which was weird because all of her clothes/medications/etc were still in there which was just not right; plus the bathroom was not really clean... They also do not give keys to the rooms, which was a problem for me for security reasons! I would encourage people to find other accommodations... Not many options for dinner in town either.
William B — Google review
This place is unbelievable ... you can not get no better place to stay in Newfoundland. Wanda and Mickey are very welcoming and makes you feel at home. Great entertainment , excellent people and food. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. If your looking for a place to stay this is your place. This place deserves more then 5 stars 😁
Krista S — Google review
I was a true pain in the butt. I called for months and months on end asking questions and checking my reservations as it was the PEAK festival time. When it finally came time for my trip- I was greeted by Wanda and Micky. They are kind and funny and I had the best time of my life! There was a balance of privacy and socializing. The home was spotless and I stayed in a spacious room with an ensuit. I spend my days outside on the beautiful deck sunning myself and drinking cocktails. The evenings were spent in the summer heat. Music piped through the outdoors sound system and the patio lights set the mood perfectly. The dog MoJo was so cute and friendly. He let me play with his squeaky. We pre-booked for next year. I'd go back tomorrow if I could get the time off. Go here. Seriously. Go here.
Mal M — Google review
She smokes you can smell it in the rooms but the rooms are cozy and nice and clean. Not as quiet as I would like it but when you have other people around you, what can you expect. Other wise hot water and okay pressure and good WiFi

Woolfrey's Pond Trail & Campground, situated in the Town of Lewisporte, offers a variety of camping options including serviced and non-serviced sites. The park features 24-hour security, a comfort station, and a 2.5km boardwalk around the pond with a sandy beach for swimming. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a newly constructed playground and access to games and movies. Some guests have suggested adding signage to highlight the lookout path from the main boardwalk for easier navigation.
We had the privilege of staying at your campsite and truly enjoyed the experience. The boardwalk around the pond is just amazing and now I realize what Newfoundlanders call a pond we call a lake (small lake perhaps). Just wanted to point out that there is a boardwalk going up to a beautiful lookout but unfortunately there are no signs or indication of the lookout path from the main boardwalk. I suggest adding a pretty sign and arrow to get more people up that way. Thank you !

We just returned home from Woolfey's Campground. We enjoyed the park, very clean, quiet and relaxing. However....when we were finished we took the Motorhome to the dumping station. Once completed, we were pulling out onto the road, when out of no where a white pickup truck cut us off and prevented us from leaving! It was a female staff member of Woolfey's yelling at me because we left the garbage can (that they provided) on site with garbage still inside. Wow!! They did provide us with a rules sheet upon check in, saying we were responsible for removing the garbage. However, the day before a man cleaned out our fire pit and removed our garbage from the can, so we assumed that was the way it was! I offered my apologies as it was an honest mistake. She continued to yell at me, saying as a business woman I should know the difference!! I don't even know this woman! She was throwing her hands up in the air, yelling. She said they havent picked up the garbage since Covid, yet the day before ours was removed!! She really upset and frightened the children in the Motorhome! There was really no need, over a bag of garbage!! I was mortified to say the least! I told her there was no need to be rude! She was like someone on a " Power Trip" Wow is all I can say!! It is clear that she is not a part of the " Lewisporte Welcome Wagon"! We did put in a formal complaint with The Town of Lewisporte. There are some people that really shouldn't work amongst the public. We will not return to Woolfey's, she really ruined our whole experience. 4 Star for the park 0 Star for this particular staff member

Lovely boardwalk around the entire pond and boardwalk up to a lookout spot where you can see most of Lewisporte. Would have been helpful if there was a map of the boardwalk but luckily was with a local person who showed me around. Also a trailer park nearby and beach. Lots of friendly people use the boardwalk. Would walk it everyday if I lived nearby.

Top of Twillingate is a popular hiking spot located 4 kilometers south of Twillingate, offering stunning views from its peak at 327 feet above sea level. The 40-minute hike features three lookout stations and an 18-foot tower at the final point, providing visitors with spectacular views. While some parts of the trail can be steep, it is well-maintained and offers benches for resting and enjoying the scenery.
Great views from the 5 lookouts including the tower. Upper tails are primitive but hike-able.

Very nicely maintained park in twillingate. Not only at the trailhead but also in many parts of the trail they have kept clearly visible markers and maps. There are also well maintained patios as viewing decks at various vantage points to soak in the views. I would say it is a moderate difficulty hike just because there are few elevation points but not too steep.
Rengesh K — Google review
Pretty nice trail to get different views over the island. Only bad thing about the trail was that some of it was overgrown, especially the area around the pond. Other than that it was pretty nice.
ComradVibes — Google review
Nice walk with some steep parts, but making the effort rewards you with some great views. Make sure to bring bug spray especially if its calm out,
Jon W — Google review
Very nice easy hike with 4 lookouts and the central top tower. Beautiful views.
Denis M — Google review
Nice hike on a well kept site. There are a lot benches and viewpoints: you definitly could bring a picnic and a book and enjoy the sights for a few hours. Even tough the trail is ranked "easy", it is steep at times.
Claudie R — Google review
Good hike, but it's mostly through the forest where there are plenty of bugs (depending on time of year). The view was good, (they had a wooden tower on top) but the view was blocked by the tips of trees. As a tourist living inland, I found the coastal hikes to have a better view and landscape. Even though this is the highest point on Twillingate, other coastal hikes had a better view.

Great trail. Only issue is that the trees have grown quite tall since they built the lookout! Definitely still worth going up for the view though

A great little museum with lots of info and antiques. They have the polar bear, on exhibit, who wondered into town on an ice float. Beautiful location with stunning views of the island. Also, a wide selection of handmade quilts at great prices and other crafts.

Great Auk Winery

Food & Drink
Auk Island Winery, situated on South Twillingate Island, is a one-of-a-kind winery that offers more than 20 varieties of wine crafted from locally handpicked berries and iceberg water. The winery is renowned not only for its exceptional berry-based wines but also for the whimsical and playful names given to their vintages.
We stopped by here while we were staying in Twillingate. They have many interesting wines all not made from grapes. We each tried a 5 wine tasting for $10 and we shared each wine so we each got to try 10 wines. We also tasted the Raspberry Screech wine for an extra $2. They give you a list of their wines from the dryer wines at the top to the sweeter wines at the bottom. We started with Vinland Red (Blueberry / Crowberry). It was nice and I did not find it that dry compared to some red wines made from grapes. Next was 3 Sheets to the Wind White made with Rhubarb. We both liked that one and decided to buy a bottle. We also tasted Funky Puffin (Blueberry / Rhubarb), Jellybean Row (Strawberry / Partridgeberry), Krooked Cod (Blueberry / Raspberry) which I liked all of them. Next we tasted Kiss Me Arse (Blueberry / Dandelion) which we both really liked so bought a bottle of that as well. We tasted Frig Off (Strawberry / Raspberry) and liked it but wanted to only bring back 2 bottle due to storage issues. We tried Moose Joose (Blueberry / Partridgeberry) which was the hosts favourite wine as it tasted like juice. The last wine of our 10 we tried was Half Cut (Dandelion) which we liked. We bought 2 regular bottles of wine of the 3 Sheets to the Wind White and Kiss Me Arse to take home with us. We also bought smaller bottles of Vinland Red and Vinland white to have with our dinner that night. I also purchased a blue t-shirt with some Newfoundland sayings on it that I liked. We had lunch sitting next to the Newfoundland Ponies then left to head back to our place. Come here for the great wine and the ponies!

Did a wine tasting here as part of a tour and it was a lot of fun! The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Hubby and I got to each choose 5 wines to sample so we got to try 10 and enjoyed it immensely! Wound up ordering a case of 12 to be shipped to Ontario ($39.99 for shipping which we thought was very reasonable). Cannot wait for our wine to arrive!

Interesting wine. Berry and plant based vs traditional grape. Did the tasting with Adriana and had a great time chatting with her and another solo traveller. It's a comfortable space, very friendly atmosphere and the food at the restaurant is tasty.

We stumbled upon the Auk Winery last minute as we stayed a short night in Twillingate and we had a fantastic time. Adriana walked us through an awesome tour of the Auk Island Winery and wine tasting. She was very educational and gave us a grate taste of the Newfie ways! Zach also led us through a great screech-in! He made a daunting, cod-kissing moment, an enjoyable and memorable experience! Would highly recommend it if in Twillingate!

Really tasty food at a good price. We discovered also two local red wines -Fifthy shade of bays and Theee Sheets to the wind, really nice, taste like small fruits fresh sangria. :-) And… possibly the best gift shop outside St-John’s! 👍👍👍👍

Adriana was great at describing all the varieties of wine.

Did the the tour with wine tasting! Highly recommend since there isn’t much to do around. You get to try baked apple and blueberry iceberg wines! (Along with many others) cost only 10$. Pass by the restaurant to try the wine flavored soft serve! It’s more like berries flavored ice-cream (doesn’t contain alcohol) like I thought 😅.

Important to note: entrance fee is five Canadian dollars - CASH ONLY. Originally built in 1915 as St. Peter’s third Anglican rectory, this historic building was transformed into a museum in 1973 to showcase Twillingate’s rich heritage. It’s a charming place filled with local antiques and stories. There’s a lot of time pieces that showcase Newfoundland’s history. This museum flows like a residential property bringing you through exhibits that show various types of industry and domestic activity. We got through the museum in about 45 minutes. I think there’s broader appeal to an older audience. May not be as interesting to kids or families. Worth a stop if you have some extra time in the charming town of Twillingate.

Interesting place to visit with a lot of memorabilia inside. The town is very pretty and I recommend walking around to take it all in.

CASH only for the $5 entry. Like many others, we don’t have paper money. We were not able to enter. Google maps should have such conditions posted up front before leading people to a visit

It's of information... The cost is $5.00. The building is very stuffy and the air feels bad No AC only one fan and it's all on the second floor. I would have stayed longer but I had to get fresh air.

Lightkeeper's Fudgery & Gift Shop is a charming shop located near Long Point Lighthouse. The shelves are filled with various souvenirs and crafts, offering more than just typical tourist items. The highlight is the fudge display, boasting about a dozen flavors including chocolate, maple, and orange creamsicle. Visitors rave about the creamy and soft texture of the fudge, describing it as heavenly.
They had 24 flavours of soft serve, it was hard to pick just one. I settled on Pina Colada and was not disappointed. Every bite tasted like I was drinking an actual Pina Colada! I went back the next day to try cheesecake soft serve and again they hit the mark. Every bite tasted like cheesecake, it was well mixed, very tasty, fantastic soft serve. They also have incredible fudge for such great prices. I struggled to pick flavours, they were all so delicious!

A wonderful, staff friendly, shop with a few local handmade items. Too many cheap trinket items. I highly recommend though, the availability of a public washroom somewhere in the vicinity for the hundreds of visitors who stop by.

After lunch, we drove up the road to Long Point Lighthouse and after a walkabout, spotted and managed with ten minutes to closing to go into this quaint fudge and gift shop. Shelves filled with souvenirs and crafts of all kinds but I didn't take time to really browse. The fudge display must have had about a dozen flavours to choose from. I bought six different kinds - some with nuts and others with flavour like chocolate, maple and orange creamsicle. Each piece was a bite of creamy and soft heaven. A great place to stop but give yourself time to explore the shop - it will be worth it.

Popped in when we visited to check out whales and icebergs of which there were none because of fog. Got 5 different flavours of amazing fudge and a cute moose magnet. Thanks for using a clean spatula for our peanut allergy.

some cool, easy and not too long hiking trails starts at Longpoint Lighthouse. The trail to the Sleepy Cove goes along the coastline and after a few hundred meters you have to use a lot of wooden stairs. After that go right - then you come to a plateau. From here you can sie the sleepy cove from above. The way down to the water is very easy and the whole trail is highly recommended.

One of the most beautiful spots in Twillingate to watch the sunset and watch whales dancing in the bay. Free overnight stay. Come for the views and leave no trace behind. Enjoy.

You can dry camp here. Recommended donation $20 to owners. A little steep considering there are no hookups. The price would be justified if they at least had electric hookups. You can park free for day use and enjoy the hiking trails.
