Snoqualmie Falls, a renowned 270-foot waterfall in Washington, is set amidst a 2-acre park and features an observation deck and gift shop. The falls are famous for their appearance in the opening credits of Twin Peaks and attract over 1.5 million visitors annually. Short hike with informative placards. Can park at the bottom or the top of the falls. Has a great view easily accessible from the top without hiking. Cafe at the top, restrooms at both ends (lower was closed and had portapotties 8/18/25). Shaded, gravelly, briefly steep. Saw many families and children.

08-31-2025 Don't miss out if you are visiting Seattle. It's a must. The most amazing waterfalls I have seen! Plenty of free parking, easy path to enjoy the beautiful views, and no entry fee. The route to get to the location is lushes green, full of stunning trees and more when you get there. Enjoy!!!

Fantastic sight seeing sport. The waterfall is beautiful. Hydroelectric power plant is adjacent. Details are mentioned in the site. River is clean. Washroom needs to be cleaned and improved. Good parking space is available.
Venugopal B — Google review
An incredible bang for the effort! Paved walkway to the upper decks with accessible parking, both free and paid parking. If you want to go closer. You can hike to the bottom or park in the lower parking lot to see the lower falls. They were raging hard when I was there!
Monique M — Google review
This is a very beautiful waterfall. The view is stunning. There is both free and paid parking. ADA parking is all free, and there are avcessible ramps. Drones are not allowed, but there are plenty of photo opportunities. I highly recommend it for kids and families. There are also rest rooms and some nice walking trails.

Snoqualmie Falls is a stunning and easily accessible waterfall, perfect for anyone looking for natural beauty without a long hike. It’s only about an hour’s drive from Seattle, and you can enjoy an incredible view right from the main viewpoint. The area is very visitor-friendly, with a café, a gift shop, and both free and paid parking options. For those who want to explore more, there are walking paths and a trail that leads down closer to the river. Restrooms are available on-site. Highly recommended for a quick getaway, family trip.

Wonderful views of the waterfall and beautiful grounds. There is a picnic area to eat at or an outside dining area. There is a gift shop and coffee/ food. Amazing views of the waterfall! Tip: go early in the day! At times the main parking areas are completely full. Parking is $7.
Mary B — Google review
Beautiful 270 waterfall. The trail down to the bottom is pretty steep and a bit of a challenge. Or… you can be a weakling and drive down haha. It reminds me a lot of Skogafoss. I’m glad I got to see this. Too bad it’s $7 for parking.

My 1st time at Whatcom Falls Park. What a fabulous trail walk!! Highly recommend. Easy parking. Not crowded. Beautiful scenery and you can cool off at the bottom!!!
Cindy V — Google review
This is a beautiful park with well-manicured trails, a picnic area, a playground, and plenty of open space to walk around. We visited on a weekend and it was fairly busy, so if you’re looking for total solitude you may want to choose another spot. That said, it still felt peaceful and relaxing, with lots of room to explore and enjoy the outdoors. We’d definitely come back again for another visit.
Mary L — Google review
This is amazing park with many trails where you can go for a walk, jogging or cycling. There are multiple and different parking stalls on different areas. And absolutely a beautiful waterfall and lakes around the park. Many areas for pets with leash and without leash area. Other spots for a birthday party and BBQ. Don’t hesitate on visiting this place you will absolutely enjoy it.
Grimoaldo A — Google review
Very cool park with ample parking, a playground for kids, paved walking paths for handicapped visitors, and several walking/hiking trails for more adventurers. There's also a fish hatchery there, not sure how active it is. Looking forward to returning in the near future.

Amazing place to walk and explore, swim at your own risk, great scenery and friendly locals . Love the falls and swim hole.
Michael B — Google review
Great hiking, walking, jogging paths along the river. Beautiful and well maintained!!
Sara N — Google review
Was a quick hike, absolutely beautiful in the fall. We got wet from the rain, but it was easy to get to. We will visit again and explore more of the trail another time!
Bumble D — Google review
Amazing and cute little park! The falls are beautiful, with the amenities of a small city park (playgrounds, tennis and basketball courts, bathrooms, off-leash dog areas, etc.) but with trails that feel like you're out in the middle of the woods. Waterfalls and small creek are very charming. The pools made by the dams are picturesque. Love that the waterfalls and stone bridge is so close to the parking lot.

Seattle Premium Outlets

Shopping
Factory Outlets
Located in Tulalip, Washington, just six minutes north of Marysville, the Seattle Premium Outlets is a popular shopping destination in the Seattle metropolitan area. The outlet center offers a wide range of stores with discounted prices on well-known brands. Visitors can also find Gateway Shopping Center nearby, which features major retailers and easy access from the I-5 highway.
24 Aug 25. Visited for shopping. All premium brands have show rooms here and offer significant discounts for Seattle residents and visitors who have energy to drive 45 min extra from Seattle. Being a Sunday the place was quite full and we had some difficulty in finding parking. They have quite huge parking space though. The place has a huge food mall and also many restaurants and food trucks outside the food mall. That makes the shopping experience complete. Worth a visit if you are looking for items from premium brands at bargain prices and also if you are a first time visitor to Seattle.
Anand S — Google review
I visited Seattle Premium Outlets, and while some stores had decent deals, others felt like total rip-offs. In a few places, the price tags were clearly manipulated — they claimed 40% off, but when I peeled back the sticker, the original price underneath was actually much lower. Total price inflation 🙃… That said, if you look carefully, you can still find extra discounts here and there. So with a bit of smart shopping, you can walk away with good deals. Overall, it’s a nice spot for a light trip when you need a change of scenery.
Rachel — Google review
Awesome shopping mall that has most brands on site. Great place to buy shoes and clothes. They have a food court, so when you get hungry or thirsty you can take a quick break
Joseph A — Google review
Visiting Seattle Premium Outlets was a pleasant surprise during my trip. As someone in my early 50s who appreciates good value without unnecessary hassle, this place checked all the boxes. The layout is easy to navigate, and the walkways are wide enough that it never felt crowded, even on a busy afternoon. The store selection is excellent — plenty of well-known brands, good discounts, and helpful staff in most shops. I especially appreciated that many stores had clear signage and organized sections, which made browsing simple and efficient. Parking was straightforward, and I liked that there were food options nearby when I needed a short break. The overall atmosphere felt clean, safe, and comfortable for visitors of all ages. If you’re visiting the Seattle area and enjoy outlet shopping, this spot is definitely worth a stop. The deals were solid, and the experience was smooth from start to finish.
Tyler L — Google review
The outlet mall wasn’t that big or special. It had some brand-name stores, but the prices weren’t very low. The food court also wasn’t great — just overpriced. I personally didn’t enjoy it and didn’t end up buying anything here.
Eva Z — Google review
Best Shopping Center around. Lots of variety including premium and popular branded clothing stores. The restrooms are maintained well. Lots of parking spaces even in busy days. I live 7 minutes away from here and I find it always worth visiting.
Kyle T — Google review
Popular open-air mall for discounted fashion. Great selection of many name brands. Extremely crowded, especially during the holiday season. Nevertheless the mall is very clean and tidy despite the traffic. Be prepared to get rained on since the mall is only partially covered. The food court is very small and offers little selection. Awesome holiday light show across the street.
Kevin L — Google review
I’ve been coming here for years. Decent outdoor outlet mall. Canadians are getting a real financial spanking with the exchange rate right now. I found a work blazer and charged the car so overall it was a fairly successful visit on our way home from Seattle.

Boeing Future of Flight

Mentioned on
12 lists
Tours
Museum
Boeing Future of Flight, situated on the northwest corner of Paine Field, offers an immersive experience into the history and future of aviation. Visitors can take tours of the commercial jet assembly plant, witnessing firsthand the assembly process of iconic Boeing jets like 747s, 777s, and 787 Dreamliners. The Boeing Studio showcases captivating visuals that tell stories about Boeing's aviation excellence. Additionally, it provides insight into Boeing's significant role in the Pacific Northwest and its prominence in aerospace.
This is one of the most fascinating aviation-related sites in the world. I believe that anyone who loves airplanes, whether a fan or a passionate enthusiast, should definitely visit this place if they are in the vicinity. What makes this site particularly special is that it offers an authentic behind-the-scenes look at the actual production and assembly of a Boeing 777, one of the most iconic and widely used commercial aircrafts. The organization of the entire experience is top-notch — everything is arranged with a high level of professionalism. From ensuring safety to seamless transportation arrangements and access to the technical airport, every aspect is designed to provide visitors with an unforgettable and immersive experience. The facility is practically within arm’s reach, allowing visitors to get a close-up view of the aircraft construction process, which is both impressive and educational. The tour offers a unique opportunity to see the real craftsmanship and engineering behind one of the world’s largest aircraft. For aviation enthusiasts, this visit is a dream come true, providing insights that are rarely accessible to the public. The entire experience is well-structured, engaging, and showcases the precision and expertise involved in aircraft manufacturing. Overall, I highly recommend this site to anyone interested in aviation. It’s a truly extraordinary place that combines education, excitement, and the chance to witness an impressive feat of engineering firsthand. Whether you’re a casual admirer or a dedicated airplane buff, this visit will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression.
Marcin P — Google review
This was honestly one of the most overrated experiences imaginable. Although I’ve heard people say it might have been better years ago, in its current state it’s awful. The tour started with a short video about the founder of Boeing, which was actually very interesting. Unfortunately, that was the highlight. From there, we boarded a bus to the factory, only to go down one set of stairs, then another, and stand in line multiple times before finally taking an elevator up to the viewing area. When we got there, absolutely nothing was happening in the factory. Our tour guide seemed incredibly discombobulated, barely offered any real explanations, and came across as both uninformative and a bit on the creepy side. I honestly thought this was just the beginning of the tour, but it turns out that was it—we immediately went back down the elevator, back on the bus, where we got a bunch of useless information that didn’t add much of anything. We ended up right back at the gift shop, which made the whole thing feel like it was designed more to sell merchandise than to actually show or teach us anything meaningful. We also visited the museum afterwards, which was just as underwhelming. There wasn't much going on, and you'd think we'd at least be able to sit in a cockpit or get close to an aircraft, but even that was missing. Honestly, they should rethink everything about this tour from the ground up-especially considering the price they're charging, not to mention the extra cost of getting there and back. Just a side note, there is a rooftop where you could watch the shared runway, which would be fun. But unfortunately, when we were there, it was not very active. Overall, a huge disappointment. Save your time and money.

I recently took the Boeing Factory tour near Seattle with my mom, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The service was fantastic, our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, answering all our questions and sharing fascinating insights about the manufacturing process. The tour includes a guided bus ride around the factory grounds, offering an amazing view from the upper deck where you can take in the scale of the massive facility. The lower deck exhibits were also impressive, showcasing the history and technology behind Boeing’s aircraft. One of the things I really appreciated was how accommodating they were for disabled visitors, making sure everyone could enjoy the tour comfortably. Parking is free on-site, another big plus. The on-site canteen served great food at reasonable prices, with plenty of vegetarian options available, which was perfect for our needs. It’s important to note that the tour does not take you onto the actual manufacturing floor itself, so you’re observing mostly from designated balconies and open areas rather than walking alongside the assembly lines. That said, it’s still incredible to see several planes at different stages of construction. The gift shop was affordable and had some great Boeing-themed souvenirs and collectibles, definitely worth checking out after the tour. Overall, it was a fascinating, educational, and well-run tour that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in aviation or industrial manufacturing.I recently took the Boeing Factory tour near Seattle with my mom, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The tour is more about the manufacturing process and facilities. It is very interesting to see the largest building and the system. Inside the centre there is a small movie theatre and some models for display. It’s very interesting to watch planes flying around and landing from the deck. There are gift shop and snacks centre as well. Washrooms are good.

Oh wow - this is awesome for aviation freaks! Honestly: We were a group of 5 boys and we did our trip from Europe to Seattle (via. Vancouver) in Oct.2025 just because of this: Boeing production visit in Seattle, WA I would do it again!! We did the 90‘ tour and the museum downstairs and don‘t forget the terrasse upstaires! Just awesome!
Zwibie — Google review
If you're interested in aviation, this 80-minute airplane manufacturer tour is an absolute must-do – it's truly the best of its kind. The amount of information and history you absorb is impressive. A standout moment for me was learning that every single one of the 1,574 Boeing 747s ever produced originated at this very facility and was then transported across the bridge we drove over for its paint job. That detail evoked such wonderful nostalgia for the 'Queen of the Skies.' While Boeing has faced its share of issues, the enduring legacy and widespread affection for the 747 are undeniable; it's a truly remarkable and successful aircraft.
Lucas Z — Google review
It was wonderful, amazing and incredible. If you pay attention, planes of that enormity are being built there, and obviously each person,or each team, is doing their own detailed work correctly so that it ultimately becomes a giant aircraft like a 777 flying in the sky. It was a really great experience for me, and I recommend you visit the factory.
Farshid E — Google review
I went on a Fri and had to wait about 15 mins due to arriving a few minutes after the prior tour had began. We did not buy tixs in advance. The staff was very friendly and told me about a few things I could do to pass the time until my tour began. The Flight deck was a nice was to pass time. The tour itself was not as exciting as I was expecting compared to other factory tours I have attended. If close to the area, its something to do. I enjoyed the flight deck and gift shop the most.

State park
Nature & Parks
Deception Pass State Park covers 4,134 acres of ancient forest and features saltwater shores, freshwater lakes, camping facilities, and an extensive 38-mile trail system. Visitors can join a guided tour near the park to paddle to nearby coves and observe abundant wildlife such as birds, seals, and porpoises. The area experiences strong tidal currents and changing sea conditions due to wind and tide direction.
This is truly one of the best parks in Washington—perfect for both day trips and overnight camping. The area near the bridge is especially breathtaking, offering the chance to spot seals and, with a bit of luck, even whales. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the abundance of hiking trails, stunning vistas, and picture-perfect spots throughout the park. Each corner offers a unique experience: the southwest side, in particular, stands out for its calm waters, quieter atmosphere, and peaceful surroundings. Whether you're seeking adventure, wildlife sightings, or a tranquil escape, this park delivers. Highly recommended.

Perfect Picnic Spot with Stunning Views🏖️ Visited Deception Pass State Park yesterday and had such a lovely time! We brought along some tea and enjoyed a peaceful picnic on a bench right in front of the beach the view was absolutely breathtaking. After that, we went for a walk and took in the scenic beauty all around. The fresh air, water views, and surrounding greenery made it such a refreshing experience. It was also wonderful to spend time here with family and our dog, it’s a very pet-friendly spot. The park is well-maintained and perfect for a relaxing day trip. Highly recommend visiting for anyone looking to enjoy nature, have a picnic, or just slow down and take in some beautiful views.

My wife and I had a fantastic camping trip at Deception Pass State Park! We stayed in our trailer at site #318, which had a 30-amp hookup and was easy to access. The site was clean, quiet, and surrounded by beautiful trees — a great balance of privacy and nature. The campground itself was peaceful and well-maintained, with plenty of room to walk and explore. We really appreciated how quiet it was in the evenings — perfect for relaxing after a day outdoors. Overall, a wonderful experience. We’ll definitely be back again!

Deception Pass State Park is one of the most spectacular places in Washington State. From hiking trails through lush forests to watching the powerful waters under the bridge, every corner is picture-perfect. Families and pet owners will love it here. Entry is affordable at $10 per day or $30 for the annual pass. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Pacific Northwest.

Beautiful park, second time being here. Outstanding views where you can see seals, fish, and sometimes the brave human in a kayak. You can park and then walk on the bridge. Note, don’t be alarmed when the bridge vibrates when the cars onboard onto it, it’s normal and safe. Do pay attention but have fun.
Mechrorobotocon — Google review
Clean restrooms at Rosario Beach section and at the pull off for walking across the bridge. There’s a ton of short trails to check out so I’ll definitely stop by again next time I’m in the area 😊 It was extremely nice to be able to cross the road by going under the bridge. There’s a lot of traffic.
That G — Google review
If you love a great short hike we awesome views, this is a killer spot. Competitive parking, bit there are spots and pull offs on both sides of the bridge. Traffic drives fast. Be careful.
Clyde H — Google review
I spent a week up at Deception Pass State. The Park is beautiful with a lot of privacy and space between campsites and there are great hiking trails to enjoy. Friends with us enjoyed biking and kayaking as well. The forest was awesome with old growth cedars, sooo many ferns, and a variety of mushrooms. The Park is dog-friendly with dogs on leash. The only reason I did not give this Park 5-stars was because of the noise from the naval jets (the base is close by on Whidbey Island).

Seafood market
Pike Place Fish Market is a renowned stall in Seattle's historic Pike Place Market, where fresh fish has been sold for decades. The market offers a wide variety of goods, from flowers and artisan crafts to fresh produce and seafood. One of the main attractions is the playful atmosphere at Pike Place Fish Market, where employees toss fish to each other while singing and yelling. This unique tradition has made the market famous and entertaining for visitors.
A great experience!! We've wanting to go here for decades. It's a great market with a lot of fish to choose from. We bought crab legs and fish cakes and grabbed, what turned out to be our best souvenir from our trip to Seattle....their oyster shooters for $7. Keep the shot glass, it also has a lid!! We went back 2 days later for another souvenir!! If someone buys a whole fish you'll see them throw it!! Might be right over your head!!! We loved this place and enjoyed the crabs and fish cakes for dinner!

A great place to visit but I skipped the food experience because of the lines! I loved walking through the alleys and especially the flowers! The market was buzzing with food, culture and my favorite sight: seafood! Everybody seemed nice and know customer service! Not too expensive while I was browsing and the walk to the overlook way was a plus! I loved that while you walk to the market you can see through the lake!

We were visiting Seattle from Nashville for business and had a few free hours to be tourists. Several people suggested we check out Pike Place Fish Market, and it was an amazing experience! The weather was fantastic, and the atmosphere felt a bit like a lively, open-air flea market — full of unique shops and friendly vendors. Everyone we met was so kind and welcoming. We sampled honey, jellies, olive oils, fruits, and even fish! Everything was so fresh and delicious. We couldn’t resist buying several of the local goodies to take home. The hot cider was especially good and perfect for sipping as we wandered through the market. We even got to experience them yelling and throwing fish around which I suppose is special to the market. If you’re visiting Seattle, we definitely recommend stopping by Pike Place Market. It was the perfect way to spend a few free hours and made our short trip feel extra special!
Art R — Google review
A unique experience in an iconic location, the sights, smells and overall vibe was outstanding. As a tourist you get a rare opportunity to feel local while walking through the market with all the hustle and bustle. Definitely worth the stop, though I would highly recommend using the restroom either before or after visiting Pikes Place as the lines to enter the few public restrooms were insanely long.
Justin B — Google review
This was a very cool attraction in Seattle! It’s very packed but I loved the smell of fresh produce and sea food. Lots of places to see around the market with plenty of vendors to check out. There’s also a little alley directly next to the market where people have been putting up gum on the walls for year. It’s another popular attraction in the area and the city makes sure to keep it checked before it gets too messy! If you’re visiting Seattle I would recommend this market for sure in your itinerary.

Such a fun place to visit- the hustle and bustle & unique feel - you don’t get this just anywhere you go- there’s so many vendors & products to see! Definitely worth a trip!

Lively atmosphere. From fresh seafood and handmade crafts to quirky shops and street performers, there's something for everyone. The flying fish at the seafood stalls are a fun and iconic experience.

Museums
The Museum of Pop Culture, located in Seattle, is a must-visit for anyone interested in music, pop culture, and science fiction. The museum showcases over 80,000 American artifacts including items from iconic musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin's bell-bottoms and Elvis Presley's leather jacket. Designed by Frank Gehry to resemble a smashed guitar, the ultra-modern building also features the Sky Church performance arena for concerts.
We had a blast. We loved all the exhibits, and especially the sound lab! This is a must visit place, for all ages. My favorite was 2nd floor with the sci-fi, fantasy and horror exhibits. The music church was a nice place to rest and soak in the music. In Sept 2025, the Black music exhibit was a special experience.
Savvy R — Google review
This is among the core attractions of Seattle as the museum provides great insights into music, movies, comics and associated culture. The exhibitions in the museum keep on changing and associated information is available on the website. Tickets can be purchased online as well as at the spot. The Museum is located in the Seattle Center area and is accessible by bus, mono rail, self driving, as well as the city tour hop on hop off tour bus. The music is closed each week on a Wednesday instead of Sunday. The museum has an interesting outlook as the building has a very futuristic and artistic outlook with buildings in various colors.

Museum was super cool. Lots of different genres of pop culture to experience (Fantasy, sci-fi, anime, music, video games, etc). There were some really fun interactive exhibits too (Indie video game and the Sound Lab). I really loved the Sound Lab and playing the instruments. The horror section was awesome as well. A very cool museum right next to the Space Needle. Definitely worth a visit if you're into pop culture. We went on a Monday. It never felt too busy. The staff was very friendly as well.

My oh my!! There are no words to describe this museum. You have to live it. Great exhibitions from music to movies. Amazing valuable artifacts belonging to great celebrities. The Jimmy Hendrix exhibition is amazing and If you are a fan of Nirvana you will be blown away. On the top floor you can experiment and learn musical instruments. I was amazed because there are individual boots where you can practice. Incredible! It is not cheap specially the souvenirs but is totally worth it. The location is great. It is near the Neaddle and there is a tram stop right beside it. Don't miss a photo with Chris Cornell statue. Save at least a morning to visit it.

I have visited MoPOP a couple of times and loved how immersive it the exhibits are! From iconic music history to sci-fi, horror, fantasy, and pop-culture moments, this museum has everything we all grew up with. Plus, the building itself is a piece of art, and you can easily spend 2–3 hours here without realizing it. If you enjoy music, movies, or anything nostalgic, MoPOP is absolutely worth a visit. Just be ready for crowds on weekends!

Very good exhibition on Jimmy Hendrix ! Was hoping for more on underground Seattle music from 80’. Great exhibition on horror movies and Science Fiction films. There was an exhibit on Asian comic culture, but I haven’t explored this one . The building itself is very impressive as is collection of the famous musician’s guitars 🎸

Interesting place for many! Loved their space exhibition. Found much stuff to do even for 5yo. And special plesure was tgeir outside playground even with chilly and wet weather. Lot of diverse fun! Strong 5💫 experience with leave/come in option diring the day.

I had a very good experience, wish I could have had more time, but loved the Asian comics exhibition it was very interesting and has comics from different countries in Asia. The other exhibits were also very good, Fantasy, Terror and Science Fiction, q lot of original prompts from well known movies. had a very wonderful time with my family. One thing I didn't like at all was that in the shop they sell a lot of AI generated art in their t shirts... that was really disappointing.

Space Needle

Observation deck
The Space Needle, a 605-ft-tall spire located at the Seattle Center, offers an observation deck and a rotating restaurant. It was built for the 1962 Worlds Fair and has since become an iconic symbol of the city. The tower's design combines elements of a giant balloon and a flying saucer, giving it a modern and futuristic look. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city, Puget Sound, and distant mountains from its observation deck.
A trip to the top of the Space Needle is, of course, a must if you are visiting Seattle. To make our visit smooth, we bought tickets online and reserved a time slot ahead of time. This was a great decision—when we got there during opening hour, the process was pretty easy. There was already a long line, but it moves fairly quickly. The elevator ride up the tower was quick and an interesting experience in itself (you'll know what I mean when you are there!). Once you reach the top, the view is simply amazing. There are several designated selfie spots around the observation deck, which are great for capturing the perfect shot. A key tip: do factor in the weather condition, as you can, of course, only see far into the distance if the weather is nice and clear. My favorite part was going down a floor to experience the revolving glass floor. You can get a feel of it by taking pictures lying or sitting down on the glass if you aren't afraid of heights. It was a thrilling and unique experience that made the visit even more memorable. It was great! Highly recommend planning ahead and enjoying this iconic Seattle landmark.
Jayne Z — Google review
Very cool attraction and the staff moves people on and off the elevators very efficiently. We happen to go on a beautiful afternoon at 5:30pm and saw a gorgeous sunset. It you have a fear of heights, this may not be for you. The elevator and floors at the top are glass! The view of Mt. Rainier was spectacular.
KSSW K — Google review
I recently visited the Space Needle in Seattle and had a really memorable experience. As someone who used the military discount, my ticket was $44, which made the admission a little more manageable compared to the standard price. Once you get to the top, the views are absolutely incredible—you can see the whole city, Mt. Rainier, and Puget Sound on a clear day. That said, it can get pretty crowded at the observation deck, so be prepared for some waiting and limited space during busy times. One important thing to know is that there’s no dedicated on-site parking for the Space Needle. The official website offers valet parking for $25, which is convenient but can be costly, especially if you’re already spending a lot on tickets. Otherwise, street parking in the area can be pricey and tough to find. I’d highly recommend using meter parking if you spot an open space—meters are actually free on Sundays, so that’s a good tip if you’re visiting at the end of the week! Alternatively, using apps like Way.com makes it easy to find and book nearby covered garage spots for as low as $10-$15, which is much cheaper than valet. Despite the costs and the crowd, the Space Needle is still a must-do for visitors to Seattle. The experience itself is world class and the memories are worth the planning. Just be sure to sort out parking in advance for less hassle and take advantage of discount rates whenever you can!
Vijay T — Google review
Visiting the Space Needle in Seattle was an incredible experience and honestly one of the highlights of our trip. We came on a foggy day, but the views were still amazing the skyline, the water, and all the buildings looked unreal from the top. The rotating glass floor is something you have to try. Standing on it and looking straight down is a feeling you can’t get anywhere else. The Space Needle is clean, well-run, and worth the price for anyone visiting Seattle. The staff was friendly, the lines moved fast, and the entire observation deck felt modern and safe. Whether it’s your first time in Seattle or you’ve lived here your whole life, the Space Needle gives you a completely different view of the city. If you’re looking for top things to do in Seattle, the Space Needle is absolutely a must-see. The views, the height, the rotating floor, and the photos you can take here are unbeatable. Our pictures came out beautiful even with the clouds and the whole experience makes you understand why this is one of the most famous attractions in Washington. Highly recommend visiting if you want stunning Seattle views, amazing photos, and a unique experience you won’t get anywhere else.

We had a very fun time going up. The view is spectacular. We talked about going up the newer, taller observation deck, but it was sold out, so we did the Space Needle. I was glad we did, it's set apart from the other tall buildings so I think you probably get a more interesting view. Plus it's iconic. I thought the rotating floor was fun. I would recommend reserving a time slot in advance. We went during the week in the morning and it wasn't too busy.

We checked this place out for sunset recently and had a great visit. The timeline of events leading up to the opening of the Space Needle as you wait in line for the elevator is pretty cool. The elevator ride to the top is quick, but offers great views. The employee riding with us was informative and funny. The views from the top are spectacular. We unfortunately didn’t have the best view of Mt. Rainier on this visit, but you could see a silhouette in the distance. It was a beautiful sunset that day and well worth the trip. Highly recommend.

We were a party of 4 adults and visited on a Thursday morning at 11 am. We all had a great experience and enjoyed our visit . Everyone should go once. They offer a military discount , but those tickets can only be purchased in person. The process to buy tickets and enter is easy. Grounds and interior spotless. The elevator ride to the top of the Space Needle is so fast we really didn’t see the city as we rode up. I felt there were too many people in the elevator at once. The views are spectacular and lots of seating inside and outdoors. There is a casual cafe and bar at the top. There’s not anything to do except walk around, look at the views, take pictures, buy snacks and drinks. We were done with our visit in 45 minutes , but stretched it to 90 minutes by buying drinks and sitting down and talking. There is a very expensive Resturant ($100 per person) at the top and we’d like to visit that at night on a special occasion. The gift shop is very nice .

The Space Needle is an absolute must-visit landmark in Seattle! The views from the top are breathtaking—you can see Mount Rainier, Puget Sound, the downtown skyline, and even the Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges on a clear day. The glass floors and floor-to-ceiling windows make the experience feel modern and thrilling, and the rotating glass floor adds a really unique touch. The elevators are fast, the staff are friendly, and the exhibits inside give a great bit of history about the 1962 World’s Fair. It can get crowded, so it’s best to go early or at sunset for the best views and photos. A little pricey, but totally worth it for such an iconic Seattle experience!

Chihuly Garden and Glass is a stunning museum and sculpture garden that showcases the breathtaking glass works of renowned artist Dale Chihuly. Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, Chihuly has gained global recognition for his vibrant and expansive collection of glass blown creations spanning over five decades. The museum, located near the iconic Space Needle in Seattle Center, offers visitors an immersive experience with both indoor and outdoor displays of Chihuly's magnificent sculptures.
This glass exhibit was beautifully displayed. The lighting was superb to show the multiple colors of the glass. The gardens were easy to navigate too. I watched a glass blowing demonstration, which runs on a regular schedule. There's a bar inside with the most interesting decor. Great menu and drinks, my drink was $20, so it's pricy. I bought a museum and Space Needle combo ticket which made it definitely worth it. Would highly recommend.

We visited Chihuly Garden and Glass right after our trip up the Seattle Space Needle, and the convenience can't be beaten. The two attractions are located very close to each other, making it a perfect combo for a day at the Seattle Center. From the moment we stepped inside, I was totally astonished. The artwork displayed, made entirely from glass, is beyond impressive. The vibrant colors, the organic shapes, the dramatic lighting, and the massive, complex formations all combined to form a constant "wow" factor in every single room. It feels like walking through a magical, otherworldly garden. Be aware that it is a compact museum, so I can easily imagine how crowded the indoor galleries can get during peak busy seasons. We were there in October and found the conditions perfect—the crowds were manageable and the weather was ideal. Speaking of weather, the outdoor garden area is absolutely beautiful, with the glass sculptures intertwined with natural foliage. However, I do think anyone visiting in the summer might have a hard time enduring the heat there, as it's quite exposed. Our autumn visit provided the perfect climate to enjoy both the intricate indoor exhibits and the beautiful garden setting at a leisurely pace. A must-see for art lovers, but timing your visit can make all the difference.
Jayne Z — Google review
It took us less than an hour to walk through, but every display was stunning and full of detail. One thing that really stood out to us was how clean everything was. The air felt spotless and there was no dust on or around the glass pieces, which was amazing to see. Outside, there was live glass blowing, and they were making vases while explaining the process. It was fascinating to watch, and the artists were great at interacting with the audience and answering questions. Overall, it was a short visit but very memorable and worth seeing.

This is a must stop when you’re in Seattle. You see some beautiful amazing glass art and there’s a beautiful garden outside that you can relax and enjoy. The garden is unique because it’s a combination of nature with glass art. I also truly enjoyed seeing the art made live. The artist was also explained the process, which was very educational. The souvenirs at the gift shop are beautiful but overpriced. I am so glad we just went before the time on our ticket because the glasshouse was closing at the time of our reservation due to a private event. They did not tell us this when we were purchasing the tickets online and I believe we paid the same price. Thankfully, we got there early and was able to see it. We also enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar there, where the service was great. This is definitely a great museum to see when you’re in Seattle.

The Chihuly Garden and Glass is absolutely stunning—one of the most beautiful and unique attractions in Seattle! Every exhibit is a masterpiece of color, light, and imagination. The glass sculptures are breathtaking, from the intricate indoor installations to the vibrant pieces displayed among the gardens. The Glasshouse itself, with its massive hanging sculpture and view of the Space Needle through the glass ceiling, is simply spectacular. The layout is easy to navigate, the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable, and the gift shop is filled with beautiful keepsakes. Whether you’re an art lover or just looking for something inspiring and peaceful, this is a must-see experience that captures the creativity and magic of Dale Chihuly’s work.

This place is absolutely stunning. We bought a combined ticket to visit the Space Needle and Chihuly Garden and Glass, which worked really well. The glass artwork is incredible - so intricate, colourful and creative. The exhibition showcases the unique style of Dale Chihuly, with both indoor galleries and outdoor garden installations that make it a truly immersive experience. Definitely worth a visit if you appreciate art and design.

Don’t miss!!!! What a stunning museum. The art is vibrant and mesmerizing. Video was worth watching to learn more about Chuhily’s methods, history and passion for glass blowing. Take your time and wander through. The shop is delightful. Bought a piece woot!

Amazing pieces. Seattle location has been on my list after visiting the St Pete location. The glass house and garden was gorgeous as well and enjoyed watching his work in the theatre. I watched the live glass blowing as well and it was so fun to watch. The bar was so cute with all his collections showcased. My only thing was I paid $20 for what tasted like a $6 happy hour premade margarita. Cocktail bars are cheaper and they are handcrafted. Regardless, the bartender and all the staff were so kind and helpful. Highly recommend checking this museum out

Ferries
Washington State Ferries is the largest ferry system in the United States, offering a picturesque way to explore Washington state. With 24 vessels operating from 20 terminals, it carries over 24 million passengers annually to destinations like Anacortes, Bremerton, Coupeville, and more. Travelers can board with their vehicles or opt for foot or bike access. The ferries provide stunning views as they traverse the Puget Sound and offer convenient connections to various islands and peninsulas.
The new ferry terminal is beautiful! What an upgrade!! The downtown ferries takes you to Bremerton or Bainbridge Island. You can also take the fast ferry to Bremerton that is just passenger only and the crossing is only 30 minutes vs an hour!!

This is actually a great experience. We crossed from southworth Washington to Font LaRoy while visiting Seattle and crossing Puget Sound. Controlled. Safe Environment

I am shocked by the sheer amount of single use plastic being sold on board your ferries. What a negligent display of cognitive dissonance. By 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish—and yet for your water-dependent business you profit off of…all this?? We can and must do better. You could start by switching to aluminum canned water (infinitely recyclable) and phasing out single use plastics like these, completely. Your customer base is a captive audience—give them better, more dignified options. No more polluting the very ecosystems you operate within. Thank you for considering my feedback.

We really enjoy the Alki bakery items and soft pretzels offered on the ferries! For me, a good IPA is so good with the pretzels. The hot dogs and breakfast sandwiches are pretty good, too. Staff are also friendly and provide good service. Thanks and keep it up!

Disappointed in the front staff experience. During my recent ferry trip, the older white woman working at the front with the tickets was extremely unprofessional. She addressed my partner with friendliness — calling him “babe” — but said absolutely nothing to me, even though I was standing right there. It felt dismissive and low-key disrespectful. It’s 2025, and basic courtesy shouldn’t be selective based on who you are. Do better. This kind of behavior makes women feel invisible and uncomfortable — especially in mixed-race couples. I expected more.

Would be five stars, if not for Coupeville Terminal Staffers: SOOO RUDE. Otherwise, extremely grateful for this socialist service that ferries is from point to point:) [Pictures: M/V Puyallup, Edmonds-Kingston Run.]

The staff who help cars load on our ferries surely deserve a hearty shout out. They are incredibly effective at non verbal communicating: signaling clearly and emphatically what we need to do, especially those of us who are new to riding ferries. They give you plenty of heads up to get back to your car. Though a little extra time is always advisable if you’re on a particularly large ferry and don’t know the layout. If they see, wondering tourists going beyond the safety lines for photos of the skyline, they will politely but firmly bring them back in. Next time you see a ferry staff person, give them a wave and a smile and say thank you.

Fort Worden Historical State Park, a former military base located on the Puget Sound shoreline, has been transformed into a 360-acre state park offering various attractions and activities. The park features restored wooden buildings that now serve different purposes, including a conference center and rentable houses. Visitors can explore the park's interesting history, with opportunities to tour the Commanding Officers Quarters and visit the Puget Sound Coast Artillery Museum.
Our group rented the keepers house near the lighthouse before night. The scenery was stunning. It was a once in a lifetime event. The views from the 2 story keepers house were amazing, the views from the one story house (made of cinder blocks painted white) weren’t as great. Great place for a family reunion or any group event. Easy drive to Port Townsend and there is so much to see in that beautiful Victorian Port Town.

Fort Worden State Park is a fantastic place that truly has it all. It’s a perfect spot for anyone whether you're a history buff, an outdoor enthusiast, or just looking for a great family outing with amazing wildlife. What really stands out is the history. You don't just read about the past here; you get to walk right through it. The old forts and battle stations are incredible to explore, giving you a real, hands-on feel for what life was like back then. It's a powerful and unforgettable experience to stand in those massive concrete structures and imagine the soldiers who once manned them. But the park isn't just about history. There's so much to do outside. You can rent a kayak to paddle the shoreline, go for a hike, or overnight camping. It’s also great place to ride a bike and explore the grounds. And at the end of the day, the sunsets are absolutely stunning the perfect way to wind down. Plus, the park is super clean, with well-kept bathrooms, and it's just a short distance from Port Townsend. It’s the kind of place you can visit again and again and always find something new to explore.

If you’re in Port Townsend and into history this is the place for you. There’s a trail that you can walk around. A light house that you can explore. A small aquarium and a museum store. You can camp on the grounds, lay on the beach. Although I’m not sure about going into the water. It is cold!

Lovely place. I go here whenever I can, it's charming and vast. Bicycling, strolling the cats, walking, reading, Journaling, deer watching, exploring, watching boats. Cable House is a treasure. Have yet to visit Taps, the Theater or the coffee vendor. Somethings to look forward to.

Step back into history to see these very authentic grounds. Some have been multi purposed for various entities, however the period architecture is well worth admiring. Continue on to the lighthouse to complete your visit or just enjoy a nice stroll through the grounds, perfect place to unwind.

We drove through Fort Worden park and down to the beach. All the historic buildings and bunkers are so interesting to see. The grounds are well maintained. Beautiful views all around. Down at the beach, you will find free, well maintained restrooms. There is plenty of parking with several trails down to the beach. I really loved it and want to return when I can spend more time at the beach. There is a historic lighthouse and some charming building. We saw lots of birds and even some deer grazing on the grass. I could have spent more time here, but we were just passing through. It was not very crowded on a June day when I visited.

Really had a great day here. Collected many rocks and shells. Lighthouse was beautiful and historic. Most clean restrooms of any beach I have ever seen. Thank you to those responsible!

The grounds of Fort Worden look well preserved, and as you enter the park, you can appreciate and take in the scenery surrounding the area. When you look around, you can not but be in awe of the natural beauty that surrounds this place. Sky, Earth, and Ocean come together complimenting and flowing with compelling energy. You smell it, feel it, and see it. Serenity is everywhere. Bring a picnic, bring an RV, bring children, bring the elderly. Walk the ground that many have walked before us. Admire the drift wood pieces by the seashore, create and build your own totem pole sculpture out of rocks. Enjoy nature, but take your time and don't rush. This place is magnificent!

A beautiful place to enjoy nature. Wonderful Habitats for the animals. The animals seem well cared for and happy. One of the best, if not the best, play areas at a zoo I have ever seen. The new tram ride is great, enjoyable experience. Staff were all friendly and hospitable
Jacob P — Google review
What a wonderful experience! I had friends from Australia visiting and wanted to give them the experience of seeing some of the amazing animals here in the PNW. We went on one of the guided tours in the Free Roam area and were able to observe many of the local residents. Our guide was amazing, incredibly knowledgeable and with a great sense of humor. It is obvious that the caretakers take pride in what they do and they do it well. The park itself is clean and well maintained. The enclosures are also clean and well maintained, and measures had been put in place for the animals to cool themselves (we visited on a hot summer day.) The paths around the park are paved and fairly easy to navigate, although there are some inclined areas that individuals with mobility aids may need assistance navigating. Should you visit during the summer, or on a weekend, be prepared for there to be a lot of children. If you'd like a quieter visit, I recommend going during the school year on a weekday. (Bonus picture of frog chilling on the water fountain.)
Amber T — Google review
Northwest Trek is truly a gem in the Pacific Northwest and an experience that feels both adventurous and educational from start to finish. The highlight of our visit was hands down the tram tour. It was not only relaxing and comfortable but also incredibly informative. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging, pointing out different animals along the way while sharing fun facts and deeper insights into their behaviors, habitats, and conservation efforts. Watching bison, moose, elk, and other wildlife roaming freely in such a large natural setting felt like stepping into their world, and it was fascinating to see them so close in a way that felt authentic and respectful. The entire park itself is beautifully maintained—clean, safe, and thoughtfully laid out. Walking through the different areas, it was clear how much care goes into keeping the grounds well-manicured and welcoming. Each habitat was designed with the animals in mind, and the variety is impressive: from native predators like cougars, wolves, and bears to smaller but equally interesting creatures like beavers, otters, and owls. Every corner offered something new to discover. Another pleasant surprise was the pricing. For the quality of the experience—especially considering the tram tour is included—the admission felt very fair. It’s rare to find a park that balances affordability with such a high standard of care, education, and presentation. Northwest Trek is the kind of place you can enjoy whether you’re coming as a family, couple, or even solo. It’s both entertaining and enlightening, and I left with a deeper appreciation for Pacific Northwest wildlife. Absolutely worth the trip and highly recommended.

This is a great place to get out in nature. For kids to see real natural settings, where and how animals live, is wonderful. We have a family pass and plan to go often. For kids, they have a great real natural play area for all they're extras energy. You can spend a few hours with your own lunch or eat from they're Cafe, it's convenient and pretty good. Even hard ice-cream, if the kids eat a good lunch. Good Times

Such a wonderful place to see animals. It was raining so some were not out, which i dont blame them. Rode the tram learned alot about the place and how it started. Such a beautiful place. Very clean and the animals looked healthy. The Eagles were magnificent 👌. The owls, bears, and wolf just amazing.

This is a true Pacific Northwest treasure! It's a great showcase of Northwest and native North American wildlife. The walk-through portion of the park is family friendly and engaging (especially the Bear walk portion). The Wild Drive is a great experience, too! When the free roaming animals are out, it is a great way to see such majestic creatures up close. The park staff is knowledgeable and courteous. Allow a few hours if you are planning to see both the walking path portion of the park and to do the Wild Drive (highly recommended). A fun day for everyone!

Incredible. Beautiful. One of a kind experience. Kid friendly. Great and knowledgeable staff. Family will love this and there are tons of animals to see. I loved the shuttle bus ride which was additional to the entrance fee, but it was well worth it. The reserve is smaller, but very beautiful

Went on a 2-hour Photo Tour and was not disappointed!! Saw Swans; Roosevelt Elk; Black-tail Deer; Mountain Goats; Bison; and MOOSE!! They have caribou as well but we did not see them… There are 4 people max in the Photo Tour and it was fun to stop and take pics of the aforementioned!! Afterwards, you can go through the rest of the park that had a Cougar; a Bobcat; and a Lynx; Eagles; Black and Grizzly Bears; Badgers; Wolverines; Grey Wolves; Otters and Beavers…. A fun place to enjoy wildlife that has been rehabilitated but are not able to return to the forest… The park is really nice and clean; there’s a gift shop with lots of stuff (and t-shirts) for kids and adults alike… Nice place to take the family!! A little limited in the cafe, this November, but offer more during the Summer.

The Museum of Glass in Tacoma, located in a 2-acre complex, showcases diverse indoor and outdoor glass-art exhibits. The highlight is the 500-foot-long Chihuly Bridge of Glass, offering a tunnel of vibrant colors and light. Inside the museum, visitors can explore galleries with rotating exhibits, watch glass-blowing artists at the conical-roofed Hot Shop amphitheater, or try their hand at arts and crafts in the studio.
This museum was so interesting. We especially liked the "hot shop" where you can see hot glass being formed and blown. The live speaker described everything as it was happening. The galleries and gift shop had beautiful pieces of glass. It was so amazing to see what could be made using different techniques.

The Museum of Glass in Tacoma is a unique experience! One of the highlights is watching glassblowing in action inside the Hot Shop. The demonstrations are narrated by an emcee, with plenty of explanations and even some Q&A, so you actually learn while being entertained. They also feature stunning works by Dale Chihuly, which are worth the trip on their own. Admission is $22, and the gift shop is full of gorgeous glass blown pieces that make great souvenirs. If you’re short on time, this is a doable stop, it’s a relatively small museum and you can probably breeze through the exhibits in about an hour or two. Don’t miss the outdoor glass sculptures, which is a prominent piece of outdoor art at the Museum of Glass. They’re striking and make for a great photo op with the waterfront in the background

Fabulous glass museum with reasonable parking right underneath the museum. Loved the hot shop demo though could have used better narration. Exhibits were small though super high quality and well curated. The design of the building with all the light coming in added to an awesome experience. Liked the fountain outside. Well worth waking up the steps to visit the bridge of glass across to Union Station which is now a courthouse with beautiful Chihuly pieces. It’s free to get into Union station after showing your ID. Museum of Glass is well worth a visit and has fabulous pieces and a great gift shop. The alley exhibit with kids pieces is so worth a visit as well.

I just visited the Museum of Glass, and wow, it completely exceeded my expectations! Everyone always talks about the Hot Shop, and now I totally get it. Watching those glassblowers work was absolutely mesmerizing – seeing them transform molten glass with such precision and artistry was truly incredible. I could have spent hours just captivated by that. Beyond the demonstrations, the entire museum is a feast for the eyes. The current exhibitions were fantastic, showcasing such a diverse range of contemporary glass art from various artists. I particularly loved how the light played off the pieces, creating these ever-changing reflections. And the building itself, with its unique cone structure and the beautiful Chihuly Bridge of Glass, is an artwork in its own right. It’s such a well-designed space that really complements the art. Plus, I found the interactive elements and educational displays surprisingly engaging. It’s definitely a place I’d recommend to anyone, whether you're an art enthusiast or just looking for something fascinating and visually stunning to do.
Steven R — Google review
We were concerned that the museum would be as nice because of the art fest but even with loads of people there it didn't feel crowded. We enjoyed the glass blowing exhibition. Loved walking the bridge and enjoying the Chihuly pieces enclosed across the highway. The galleries were filled with amazing sculptures and vases. Just beautiful!
Donna P — Google review
We had a great time visiting this museum. We definitely interested in learning more about glass blowing and will return.. This is a great museum. It's also on the dock. Check it out!

This was a great place to go to. We popped into the show room to watch some art being created. It was really hot and it was a hot day in June. We walked the gallery and enjoyed the art work. The cafe food was a bit pricey. We decided to eat somewhere else. Nice clean, and quiet The kids were not so entertained.

Good variety of artists, and quite a few pieces that I genuinely liked! The hallway to the restrooms featured works prompted by kid's sketched proposals, and it was delightful! Parking was ok too.

The Whale Museum, located in Friday Harbor, is a must-visit destination for those interested in learning about whales and the Salish Sea ecosystem. The museum features a variety of exhibits showcasing artwork, artifacts, and educational programs focused on different kinds of whales that inhabit the area. One of its highlights is the skeleton of a young orca named Sooke (L-112), offering insight into the process of preparing whale skeletons for display.
Really well done exhibits with lots of information about the orcas and other whales, and very moving stories of some of the individual Southern Resident Killer Whales. Employees were kind and knowledgeable, and I attended a fantastic free talk at the museum by Brad Hanson about the status and health of the Southern Resident Killer Whale pods. If you’re planning a trip to San Juan Island the Whale Museum is whale worth a visit.

An interactive museum, well-equipped and educational. Excellent for taking small children, as it has a children's area. I liked that, despite having two floors, it has a wheelchair for guests to climb if needed. It's a quick tour; I highly recommend visiting.

My partner and I came here for our third anniversary. We both thought this was one of the best museums we’ve ever been to. The staff are clearly enthusiastic and well-informed about marine life. The exhibits upstairs are curated with extraordinary care for the animals that they depict. In particular, the interactive phone booth in the corner was clever. It was a wonderful way to hear the animals through a “filter” — the phone’s antiquated crackle and sense of distance — as a simulation, perhaps, of the underwater transmittance of that information. We had a lovely time. Thank you for having us!

The museum was very informative and have really cool exhibits. The woman working there was very nice and friendly as well. I also really liked the unique finds in the giftshop that had many items from local artists

GOOD AT EDUCATION BUT MUSEUM NEEDS AN UPGRADE The people here are passionate about educating humans on these wonderful creatures and what can be done to protect them. However, the museum itself looks like it's from 1992 with very little interactivity and, in this day and age, that's expected. I hope they receive funding to update, as this is the perfect spot to learn about whales and then go out and see them in their natural habitat. On the plus side, the gift shop was good with a nice range of products.
Linda B — Google review
Informative museum focused on conservation and respectful, careful study of and interaction with marine wildlife (especially whales). The exhibits are interesting, and there's lots to read about whales on the self-guided tour. Experience standing inside the ribcage of an orca, seeing a whale brain vs. a human brain, listening to whale calls, and other interesting and interactive displays. There's also a nice little gift shop and videos about whales. Well worth a visit.

Nestled in the heart of Bremerton, the USS Turner Joy Museum Ship stands as a remarkable testament to naval history. Launched in 1958 and serving valiantly until its decommissioning in 1982, this Forrest Sherman-class destroyer played a significant role during the Vietnam War. Today, it has been transformed into an engaging museum where visitors can embark on guided tours lasting one to two hours.
Great self led tour! Perfect rainy day activity! If you are really into reading signage and descriptions, studying instruments, or just being on a boat in general this is a must. Please give yourself an entire day, there is so much to take in on the USS Turner Joy. There are displays of knot artwork, stories, letters, and you can see pretty much everything on this ship! You

An immense and majestic ship. Sadly, the Missouri is no longer here, as many people in Bremerton complained about 30 years ago, when it moved back to Hawaii, but this is nonetheless a brilliant ship to have here, attachment to the legacy of the United States Navy and the sheer artistry of building a grand colossus for the water. Spend enough time here to get a sense of scale. It is obvious without needing to be stated on a ship like this is big, but only by truly exploring it does one get a sense of how immense it truly is, how it operates like a little city, a beacon of movement and life amidst the vast dark seas. I also greatly appreciate the gift shop, which is reasonably priced and quite comprehensive. I always have trouble buying the right gifts for my dad, but I found the perfect Father's Day mementos for him here, as he adores naval history and is the one who first got me interested in the power and the beauty of ships like this.

I thought the self guided tour was great. There are docents available to answer any questions. The displays were helpful and much of the ship was open to tour.

If you enjoy history and the military then it’s a must! My wife found it as we took a ferry from Seattle to Bremerton and then decided to drive around back to Seattle. Not crowded at all and a lot to learn especially the mechanical and engineering parts of it. Didn’t have time to see all of it as I needed to return my rental so I will need to revisit hopefully.

Point Defiance Park is a sprawling 760-acre park in Tacoma, offering a variety of attractions such as the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, old-growth forest hikes, gardens, and beaches. The park surrounds Five Mile Drive and features hilly picnicking fields, forest patches, hiking trails, and bike paths. Visitors can enjoy numerous gardens and attend summer festivals like the Taste of Tacoma.
This is a beautiful park with plenty of space for a picnic or for the kids to run and play. Be aware of the goose poo. It is everywhere. All of the gardens are beautiful and not overly large. The rose garden smells beautiful and the Japanese garden is cute. The (walking) bridge, across the way, takes you to the chutes and ladders that lead down to the boat dock or Vashon/ Tahlequah Ferry. The view at the top of the chutes & ladders is beautiful. The park is in the roundabout taking you to the zoo, marina, Owen Beach, Fort Nisqually & 5 mile drive.

Can't recommend this place enough. Feels more like a state or national park, rather than a local park. The woods here are an excellent hiking spot. You really feel like you're escaping the city. Great views of the water, islands, and bridge. Owen Beach is beautiful and very clean. Free entry! Unbelievable value. 👍

This park was truly gorgeous with a few different trails that were some ups and some Downs, we walked over 6 miles. follow the signage, stay away from cliff edges and you will end up with an amazing hike. There are bathrooms in porta potties, a small zoo, different gardens that are all just gorgeous and many many places to picnic. it is dog friendly so take your fur babies 😊

Point Defiance Park is one of the best outdoor spots I’ve visited in the Tacoma area. The hiking trails are well-maintained, quiet, and surrounded by gorgeous forest. I even spotted a deer during my walk — such a cool and unexpected moment! The views of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and the Gig Harbor were amazing, and the fresh air and natural setting make it a perfect place to relax or get some exercise. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys nature and easy-to-moderate hikes. There are plenty of signs to help you navigate, and the air feels fresh and clean — a perfect break from city noise. Whether you’re into hiking, photography, or just want to stroll through nature, Point Defiance is a must-visit in the Tacoma area. I’ll definitely be coming back!

it’s a true gem nestled in the heart of Tacoma. This expansive urban oasis spans over 760 acres and features everything from old-growth forest and stunning gardens to scenic trails, beaches, and wildlife-rich overlooks The variety here is incredible. You can wander through beautifully curated gardens—from roses and irises to Japanese and rhododendrons—or head to Owen Beach for a peaceful stroll along the water . Don’t miss Fort Nisqually, a living-history site that immerses you in 19th-century trading-post life . And for animal lovers, the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is fantastic—one of the few places in the Pacific Northwest combining both zoo and aquarium experiences . Parking is free and the park opens half an hour before sunrise until half an hour after sunset—perfect for early morning or sunset visits . Whether you’re hiking through ancient forest or watching harbor seals from a bluff, this place never disappoints. Highly recommend for locals and visitors alike—Point Defiance is one of Tacoma’s most treasured spots.

This is a beautiful place, but I had a very frustrating experience during my first visit on Labor Day 2025. I entered the park and parked near the rose garden. The info booth was closed, and I couldn’t find any maps. Naturally my cell service was crap and google maps was no help. I wandered around and kept running into trail and road closures. I was trying to walk to the aquarium but couldn’t figure out how to get there from where I was. It was fenced off and didn’t seem like I could walk there. When I finally spoke to someone I was told I’d had to leave the park and follow a bunch of detour signs and re-enter a mile or so away. I wish I would have known that before getting dropped off. At first glance I thought it was one big accessible park that I could walk through, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Wasn’t apparent when I did my planning, so I ended up leaving. The pond near the rose garden also needs to be aerated. Duckweed has completely ruined it. The small Japanese and rose gardens were really pretty, however.

Olympic Game Farm Inc. is a long-standing game farm that offers drive-through tours, allowing visitors to observe a variety of animals including bears, big cats, llamas, elk, bison and more. The farm has been likened to a combination of a zoo and Disneyland's Autopia attraction. Visitors can purchase loaves of wheat bread to feed the animals during their slow drive through the herds.
Loved it. Feeding the animals was awesome. Just don't roll your windows all the way down. The animals will stick their entire heads inside your car to get at the bread. Some people may think it's expensive but for me it all goes to support the care, feed, and facilities. It's not cheap to feed these animals and it's not cheap to hire multiple veterinarians and games keepers. Please support their cause and enjoy the experience. 😉
Mary R — Google review
It was an amazing experience. The lion and the bears slept through our tour but the bison were quick to give you a slobbery kiss on your hand for a piece of bread. We had a really good time.
Kathleen G — Google review
Arrived just after opening time. The park is clean and we'll organized with lots of signage. Animals are healthy and hearty, ranging from young to mature. Staff was super friendly and helpful, smiles from everyone. All signs point to a well managed facility. I was pressed for time, so only made one loop through the park, but you can cycle as many times as you like. Easily exhausted 4 loaves of bread. Animal interactions were positive and well received. Seeing bears a few feet away was amazing. Will certainly visit again.
Byron S — Google review
Fun experience on a non packed weekday when school was out. Prices are steep but memories created mean more then the price tag. You must buy their bread for 5.00 a loaf. I recommend buying at least 4 and tearing into pieces to make it last. The whole drive in takes maybe 40 Minutes to an hour depending on vehicle traffic! Nice selection of animals, chill and laid back vibes. Be ready for a messy car afterwards!
Tuesdee M — Google review
We had the best time driving and feeding the animals. They were all fairly chill except the big bison. He was not chill and just kept putting his big ole head against the window. Highly recommend this!
Scarlet S — Google review
A truly wild and wonderful time! My main concern going in was that my car would become a chew toy for a large bison. Luckily, the only real damage was a generous coating of animal drool from all the enthusiastic fans who stampeded over to devour our bread. Worth every slobbery minute!
Will M — Google review
Great place to take your kids, they get to experience feeding animals and get close to them. It's not a petting farm you stayed in the car and feed the animals, the animals know you are going to feed them as soon as they see your car, they will come to the window. The downside is we didn't get a chance to see the African Lion, because he was sleeping, and we see a glimpse of the Siberia Tiger. $5 for a loaf of bread at the entrance is too much
Nazareth A — Google review
This was our first time visiting the farm, and even though we came on a weekday near closing time, we still had a great experience! There were no lines when we arrived, so it was super easy to buy our tickets and some bread to feed the animals, then head straight in. The whole tour is drive-thru style—you must stay in your car at all times and follow the marked track. Just make sure to read the signs along the way for guidance. There were so many different animals to see(that were not pictured like cows, alpacas, elks, emu, wolfs etc..)! My personal favorites were the bison and the beautiful albino peacock. It’s a really fun and relaxing place, and I imagine it would be even more enjoyable with kids. They’d love feeding the animals from the car! We'll definitely try to come earlier next time to enjoy the full experience. 🐐🦬🦚

Nestled within a stunning 762-acre estuary, the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge is a haven for nature lovers and families alike. On a recent sunny Sunday, I embarked on an hour-long drive to this picturesque spot, and it was absolutely worth it! The visitor center offers engaging exhibits that captivated my kids, while younger ones can enjoy the nearby park. As we strolled along the boardwalk in early summer, we were treated to breathtaking views of diverse wildlife.
Beautiful, peaceful spot just off Hwy 101 to see wildlife. Bird sanctuary attracts all kinds of birds. Every visit I see something new up close - bullfrogs, turtles, beaver, bald eagles, egrets, ducks, cormorants. Easy walking on flat wide trails and wood-planked boardwalks through marshy, brackish landscape. Great place to take small kids. Not too crowded. The boardwalk extends probably 3/4 mile out into the inlet. Come at different tidal stages and different seasons to enjoy changing flora and fauna. Small picnic area under old growth trees. Come in the early day or late day to get a parking spot. Midday it can be hard to find one. Bring binoculars and $3 cash for entry fee. No dogs or joggers. Lovely gift shop.

One of my favorite spots around here! Nisqually Wildlife Refuge is pure magic—especially on a sunny day after a storm. I went expecting just some fall colors, but was blown away by thousands of birds flying overhead—what a sight! I arrived around 12:30 pm and couldn’t believe my luck. Only $3 to enter (free with the America the Beautiful Pass), and the trails are very well maintained—no dogs allowed, so no worries about stepping in dog poop. The Nisqually Wildlife Refuge has about 4 miles of loop trails

This place is special.. how lucky we are to be able to easily move through a place like this without even getting our feet wet. The walk out to the point on the water is 2 miles, no elevation gain, part wide gravel path, part boardwalk and fully exposed 3/4 of the way there. Alternatively, you can take a shadier boardwalk-path from the gift shop/restrooms through the forest in a .75 mile circle.
Jolene G — Google review
Easy access, nice well capped wooden boardwalk going way out into the marsh. There are two main hikes - one out and back and one loop. It was very busy when we were there in a little bit tight for parking. Ranger told us they don't check the cars for passes but carry yours with you. There's a pay station but they also accept America the beautiful passes, etc. it's Federal level so your state pass won't be accepted. We definitely enjoyed the visit!

One of our favorite walks near Olympia / Lacey, it's a wonderful experience at any time of year or tide with a mile long boardwalk over the Nisqually estuary. On clear days you can see the Olympic Mountains, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and Mt Rainier. It's a changeable landscape with different bird and animal sightings each time. Be prepared for hotter summer and colder winter conditions than you might expect for this area.

Great Walk to do it with the family nice wooden boardwalk and view points especially where the waterfront is. It has a wooded pathway which is pretty far great place to let your kiddos run crazy. Their is also lots of different birds so you will see some people doing so really good bird watching.
Ricardo M — Google review
This place is a great place for a calm walk, there is usually not many people and it is mostly quiet. The wildlife is always a cool look as there are many different kinds of birds. Overall it is a good visit if you are interested in the area and are looking for a nice walk, just remember there are no dogs allowed, no running and don’t feed the animals.
Julian N — Google review
An incredible place to learn about the connection between river, estuary, and Puget Sound ecosystems. The boardwalk lets you walk right out over restored tidal wetlands where fresh and saltwater mix — a perfect example of successful habitat restoration. Interpretive signs along the way explain the wildlife, plant life, and cultural history of the Nisqually Delta, including the legacy of Billy Frank Jr. and the Medicine Creek Treaty. We loved seeing great blue herons, eagles, and flocks of shorebirds feeding on the tide flats. It’s both peaceful and educational — a living classroom that shows why preserving these habitats matters.

BC Ferries is an essential transportation option for travelers heading to Victoria, as there are no roads connecting the destination. The ferry provides a smooth and efficient loading and unloading process for vehicles, making it a convenient choice for visitors. Onboard amenities include lounges, entertainment areas, a kids' playroom, washrooms, and balconies where passengers can enjoy scenic views during the journey.
Taking the ferry is beautiful, I have taken both daytime trips, and evening trips and the evening trips by far are my favourite because I can see the sunsets. I definitely recommend buying your tickets ahead of time. Plus it saves you a little bit of money ferry rides are 1.5 hours long. There restaurants on board and a gift shop. There is ample seating on board. Gets quite cool on an evening trip so bring a blanket and or a jacket.

Northern Expedition from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert. What an amazing ship, the service is amazing. We didn’t spare any expense we booked a cabin that came in handy we caught a couple of hours sleep once the ship left Port. The aurora lounge we booked and it’s private seating from the rest of the ship the views from there are phenomenal. The food on this ship is a different menu than other BC Ferries I had a really nice prime rib dinner it was top notch and a HUGE piece of prime rib. Once it was dark we caught a movie in the theatre, it was a comfy movie theater. One thing I think BC Ferries should improve on is the gift shop, we would have liked to buy patches for our motorcycle jackets with BC Ferries Northern Expedition on them, people would be interested in buying t-shirts with Northern expedition, hats, so on, personalize the gift shop more and even some souvenirs from the stops we did like bells bella. Other than the gift shop, this adventure was total worth it! my dad told me about this trip years ago and happy we did it. My fiancée and I rode our Harley from Prince Rupert on hwy 16 ( The Highway of tears 🙏❤️) to Prince George on Highway 97 down the Fraser Canyon up to Sea to Sky Squamish and Whistler and Saturday we’re taking tsawwassen ferry to duke point and riding back home to Port Alberni the end of our 12 day journey. I must thank BC ferries staff Chief Steward Krystal Holm her Sister in law Nina, Engineer Mark McEachern you guys made this journey so much more special thank you 🙌❤️

I'm going to have to tell my niece that she's going to have to move out and get a job because according to BC ferries, she's considered an adult at 12 years old. Plus, they've discovered how to make people pay more while offering the exact same product. They have the same number of spots, but now they've started playing the reservation game so you have to pay an extra $20 every time you go otherwise you might have to wait two extra sailings. I've been taking these for years and never saw a problem with just getting to the ferry and waiting your turn. Most of the time you would just catch the next ferry. If there's more people taking them now then they need more ferries, it's simple.
Architype — Google review
Ferry rides are good and their effort to combat the BMW/Mercedes/Lexus car alarms (90% the culprits) has been noticed and appreciated. The hardest part is waking up extra early for the sailings, which are always convenient and useful, not because I'm nervous about missing the sailing but so I have enough time to get breakfast elsewhere so I don't have to spend $45+ for my wife and I on coffee and breakfast sandwiches that barely pass as edible. My biggest (constructive?) feedback To BC Ferries is to ditch White Spot and upgrade their food quality for breakfast and the rest of the day.

BC Ferries is such an essential part of life in BC, and overall, they do a great job connecting the islands. The ships are clean, comfortable, and the staff are consistently friendly and professional. Boarding and sailing are usually smooth, and I really enjoy the scenic views from the deck, it’s one of the most beautiful commutes in the world. Food options have improved, though prices can be a bit high and delays do happen occasionally. Still, it’s a unique experience that feels very “West Coast,” and I appreciate the service they provide.
Jenny Z — Google review
Well, they make you leave your cats behind in the car despite having a reservation, not being over height or over length, and arriving at the terminal right in the middle of the recommended window of time for reservations. The options of sitting in a tiny pet room on the upper car deck with other animals or dogs (love dogs - but oddly enough my cats do not), or freezing together on the outer deck in November are just not good enough. There's absolutely no way to indicate you have pets or affect where you end up on the ferry despite doing everything "right" with reservations, and the facilities provided are just not adequate. Do better.
Carlie O — Google review
If you are a tourist and not reliant on this company on a regular basis I would say crossing from Victoria to Vancouver or one of the gulf islands can be a nice experience. Make sure you plan ahead regarding scheduling on most routes. It’s a good way to check out the scenery of the south coast that other wise might be tough to do. However if you rely on this company for regular travel they are dreadful. Mechanical break downs and scheduling delays are a regular occurrence. They rarely have enough sailings in the day and most often reservations are required, which adds 15 to 20% in additional fees. The food onboard is mediocre at best and the staff are less than enthusiastic in most cases. If there were any other option I would take it. That said the views can be spectacular.

Visitors can also enjoy activities like the Victoria Panorama Seaplane Tour, Butchart Gardens visit, whale watching adventure from Victoria, and more.
Oh my goodness, I haven’t been here since probably grade 5. Took my little girl here today and she absolutely loved it. Old town is my favourite part of the museum. The woolly mammoth is super cool as well. Some of the exhibits are old and some are new. The IMAX is always fun to finish off with.

A truly excellent museum with a wide variety of engaging exhibits. When I visited, there was an interactive exhibit on protest music that was fascinating, and the section on local ecology and geography was very informative. The diorama of the city in the early 1900s is top-notch and really brings the past to life. Be sure not to miss the exhibit on native languages — although small, it’s incredibly meaningful and I wish there had been more of it. Outside, the totem poles on the East lawn are a highlight and well worth the time. Overall, a place that combines history, culture, and education beautifully.

Highly recommended! You can see a precious mammoth specimen here. Other animal exhibits are very lifelike, and the displays recreate the animals’ natural habitats. Visiting this place gives you a great understanding of Vancouver’s history, local wildlife, environment, and culture. The lady at the front desk was very friendly — I’m really glad I came to visit!

Employees on strike day we visited so Imax & some areas closed. Museum did not live up to the hype. Second floor natural history displays were poorly lit, hard to read and some videos not working. Disappointing. Best exhibits were on third floor, and covered history of India's manufacturing Chintz. When you see what was involved, you can't not be impressed. Many significant totems, worth seeing. Price of admission reasonable, worth seeing. Excellent gift store and cafe.

If you want to know more about British Columbia this is the place. You will learn about its fauna and flora, about its people, places and influences. I was completely blown way by the room Our living languages ,where you can learn and listening to the indigenous dialects, and the reproduction of the early 19th century town. Quite impressive. Save at least 2h for the visit. I was there all morning. The museum is also home of the Imax cinema. It has a café, souvenir shops and toilets.

I haven't been here in about 30 years and it is much smaller than I remembered. The Johnathan Hunt House and Old Town displays were interesting and well presented. I thought there was a lot more indigenous art on display the last time I visited and was very disappointed. John Lennon's Rolls-Royce was a cool surprise.

Had a great visit with my partner and our toddler. The Music of Resistance exhibit is incredible - go if you can and learn about activism and music in BC and around the world. Lots of cool memorabilia. Unfortunately, the indigenous language exhibit is closed, which was a real let down - its our family's favorite.

During our visit, most of the areas were closed due to renovations, and we weren’t informed about it when we purchased our tickets, which didn’t feel fair. That said, the sections we did get to see were amazing, and I hope we can explore the rest on our next trip

experience and an absolute must-visit when you’re in Victoria. Just a short drive from downtown, the gardens are a breathtaking showcase of color, design, and nature’s beauty. Every section — from the Sunken Garden to the Rose Garden and Japanese Garden — feels like stepping into a new world, each one more stunning than the last. What makes it special is the harmony between the landscaping and the natural surroundings. It doesn’t feel overdone — everything is carefully crafted yet respectful of the environment. You can sense the love and care that has gone into maintaining it for over a century. The walking paths are easy to follow, making it enjoyable for all ages. We especially loved how different viewpoints offer fresh perspectives of the same gardens. Depending on the season, the floral displays change, so it’s a place you could return to again and again. Pro tip: If you visit in the evening during summer, the illuminated gardens and fireworks shows add a whole new layer of magic.

Beautiful flowers even though we visited end of season. They had a wide variety of flowers/plants from different regions- Mediterranean garden, Japanese Garden etc. They had many roses of different colours and flowers I’ve never seen before! It was beautiful! The garden was smaller than I thought- people recommended 3 hours for the gardens but we covered it within 1.5 hours. Limited dining options with only one cafe but the food and coffee were good!
Esther C — Google review
If you haven’t been to Butchart Gardens, don’t even claim you’ve been to Vancouver Island! The moment you step into the Sunken Garden, jaws drop all around 🤩😍🤩 It’s hard to imagine this was once a quarry — now layers of greenery and blooming flowers create a fairytale-like scene. Beyond the iconic Sunken Garden, I especially loved: • 🇮🇹 Italian Garden – elegant symmetrical fountains and charming water-side pathways. • 🇯🇵 Japanese Garden – flowing water, stone bridges, and soft moss create a serene, poetic atmosphere. In summer, the gardens stay open later into the evening. On Saturdays, there are fireworks 🎆, and on Sundays, live music 🎶 adds a magical touch. It’s like a paradise for slow living: couples strolling hand-in-hand, seniors walking their dogs, everyone moving at their own gentle pace. Sometimes, the best version of life is simply right in front of you. 🌸🧺✨

If I’m being honest, I wasn’t too keen on visiting The Butchart Gardens at first as we had a long journey ahead after leaving Victoria, but my partner insisted, and I’m so glad we went. What an absolutely stunning place! We arrived right as it opened, so it was peaceful and not too busy, giving us time to wander through the different areas - the Sunken Garden, Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, and more - each one beautifully designed and full of charm. Despite visiting in early October, there were still so many blooms, and the colours were starting to turn lovely shades of autumn. Definitely worth the visit!
Maxim S — Google review
We visited Victoria specifically to see Butchart Gardens and it was amazing! Go early to avoid what will be crowds. Take time to just enjoy as it’s hard to not keep taking photos and selfies given the views but you’re surrounded by nature’s beauty so take the time to breathe, stop and enjoy. A tip is to take your photos early and then, walk around your favorite areas a second time to just enjoy and relax. Fun gift shop for souvenirs and cafe to grab a bite and coffee. Give yourself at least 2 plus hours. There are tours that will take you from downtown but we took an uber as knew we wanted to spend more time. About a 30 plus minute drive. I would grab breakfast before you go.

The gardens were spectacular, even in fall! We were with a tour group and had 1.5 hours there, and it wasn't enough. The gift shop was fun, with a lot of interesting items. The cafe was also nice, with a lovely fireplace to sit in front of at the end.

Butchart Gardens is absolutely breathtaking and a must-visit when in Victoria. Every corner feels like stepping into a painting, with colorful blooms, peaceful pathways, and beautifully maintained landscapes. The Japanese Garden and Rose Garden are especially stunning, offering so many perfect photo spots. It’s a place where you can slow down, take in the fresh air, and just enjoy nature at its best. Whether you’re walking with family, friends, or on your own, the gardens leave you feeling refreshed and inspired. Truly unforgettable!

A Whimsical Floral Escape! An absolute highlight of our summer! In August, The Butchart Gardens transforms into a dizzying, delightful wonderland. We visited with my son and my boyfriend's family, and it truly felt like tumbling into a secret fairy tale. The Sunken Garden is a jaw-dropping spectacle of color—so vast and perfectly arranged, you expect a gnome to pop out and give gardening tips. The Rose Garden was intoxicatingly fragrant and the perfect spot for the family to stop and just breathe. Best part? The Gelato in the Italian Garden. It's the perfect reward for little legs (and big ones!) after exploring the floral kingdom. Tip for families: Don't miss the Rose Carousel! It’s the sweetest stop for the kids. Yes, it was busy (hello, August!), but the sheer beauty of the place made the crowds melt away. A magical day for a blended family adventure!

Transportation
The Black Ball Ferry Line offers car ferries departing from Port Angeles to Victoria in Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Travelers can enjoy a day trip to Victoria, exploring attractions like Butchart Gardens and the provincial museum. Booking in advance is recommended as the ferry can fill up quickly. The vessel provides amenities such as a commissary for food and drinks, spacious and clean bathrooms, but some passengers found the boarding process chaotic with little signage or direction.
Easy to purchase tickets online, loading process and going through customs was straightforward in Victoria. Everyone was so polite. Ferry was exactly on time, safety protocols were shared and it was a smooth ferry ride. Once we arrived in Washington, going through customs was quick and straightforward as well. Walked around near the government building while waiting for our ferry which was very pretty. We saw whales and dolphins from our ferry. What’s great way to travel - stress free and on time for a reasonable cost.

Lots of seating options both inside and out. Very punctual departure. We did the passenger only option which was easy walk to either downtown port angeles or main area of Victoria. Relatively smooth ride as the waters were fairly calm on both trips. Can't speak to the vehicle aspect. All in all was nice.

We had a great experience on the Black Ball Ferry. We pre-booked our ticket and we took the first ferry in the morning. Everything went smoothly. We watched the sunrise and we even got to see porpoises! The crew was super friendly and they had a few food options. Everyone was well organized. The boat and bathrooms were very clean. The views were spectacular too. I definitely recommend!

Buying tickets online was easy, and the boarding process in Victoria, including customs, was quick and straightforward. Everyone we interacted with was polite and helpful. The ferry left exactly on time, safety protocols were clearly explained, and the ride itself was smooth and comfortable.

The people at Black Ball Ferry Line have excellent customer service. We don't have any experience with auto ferry services, much less crossing the border by ferry. To avoid showing up at the terminal without a clue, we called ahead to get answers to our many questions. The agent we spoke to was extremely helpful. She made sure we knew what to expect when we arrived at the terminal, where to get in line to purchase "first come, first served" tickets, how they're sold, which documents they'll need to see, and where to get coffee while waiting to depart. She also gave us fantastic advice on how to maximize our chances of getting on the first sailing out of Port Angeles when all reservations for the day were sold out and they were expecting many others to show up hoping to get on any sailing scheduled for that day. We probably would have made it across to Canada eventually but we were very grateful for her advice so that we didn't have to wait around for hours for an opportunity be available. The guys guiding drivers to their loading lanes made sure we had our documents and made sure we were aware there was a still chance we wouldn't make it onto the first sailing. We thought it was great how they kept us informed and managed our expectations. At this point, we didn't care if we were able to board the first ferry because we knew the Black Ball staff was looking out for the us and likely the rest of the travelers that day. The deck hands loading drivers onto the ferry were very good at it. Their directions were direct, concise, and very clear. They alleviated a lot of the anxiety I might have had if I were trying to maneuver my car in and around the vehicle deck without their excellent direction. We didn't have much contact with the ship's crew while we were underway but they seemed pleasant, professional and ready to serve the passengers and ferry. Off loading was just as efficient as loading. Again, the directions were clear and concise. We would have figured it all out ourselves if we had to. Thankfully, the Black Ball staff was very helpful and essentially walked us through all our questions and then some. The Port Angeles Passenger Terminal is clean and comfortable. The restrooms are clean. If you're walking on the ferry, you'll be comfortable while you wait.

Great 90 min ride over to BC Victoria. Ship is clean lots of seating. Pretty area we took our bikes on the Ferry and rode all over down town also Chinatown. We had a blast.
Tracy L — Google review
My family and I took this ferry up to Victoria for vacation, and generally enjoyed the experience. I showed up early despite having a reservation, because I wanted to explore the dock area and grab lunch. The process of boarding was very organized, if a bit slow (every car coming off the ferry had to go through a booth despite having already gone through customs in Victoria before leaving). The seating is plentiful if you don't mind sitting outside on the deck (we were lucky and got a family booth inside). The reason I do not give them 5 stars is that the unloading experience was uncomfortable and actually a bit dangerous. There was some sort of parade happening on the road right outside of the ferry, and gobs of pedestrians blocked the entire ferry from unloading. It was extremely stressful to try to leave the terminal, even if you were turning right, because hundreds of people with zero survival skills were stepping out in front of each car en mass. While I know the ferry staff aren't responsible for festivals, I felt like they could have sent one staff member up to the entrance to control and direct pedestrians, or even coordinated with local law enforcement to have an officer do it. It would have been SO much safer with just a little extra effort. I bet it would have been less stressful to the staff too, since there is no way the ferry stayed on schedule with each car taking 5 minutes or more to leave the lot one at a time.
Rebecca F — Google review
We recently traveled with Black Ball Ferry Line from Port Angeles to Victoria. The ferry was clean and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and organized. Boarding and disembarking were smooth, and the crossing took about 90 minutes. For 4 people and one car, the round trip cost us about $300. The ferry has a small coffee shop and comfortable seating, which made the journey pleasant. Overall, a reliable and convenient way to travel between Washington and British Columbia.

Hurricane Ridge, located in Olympic National Park, is a year-round destination offering a variety of activities. In the winter, it transforms into a stunning white wonderland and provides opportunities for skiing and snowboarding without the usual high costs and crowds. During the summer, visitors can enjoy scenic drives with breathtaking views of wildflower-filled meadows, mountains, and wildlife such as mountain goats, black-tailed deer, marmots, and bobcats.
If there is any mountain trail that you are considering to do in the Olympic area this is it. There are switch backs closed to the summit and only that part is quite exhausting. But the view is rewarding. We also encountered a snowy slope in June. The trail signs went missing from there on, so we had to improvise a few meters. Hiking poles are really useful. We were told by frequent hikers that you can see a bear if you are in luck, and indeed we did! As we were returning back to the starting point a mama bear and her cub was standing next to the trail. We were prepared with a bear spray and container. We had a very safe encounter. Parking area is large enough. There are toilets and a potable water area.

Gorgeous views and wonderful drive to the top, lots of wildlife if you come up in the morning or late afternoon. Was sad to hear the visitors center burned down a couple years ago, but they have a little pop up if you want some swag. Decent trails in the area as well to help stretch your legs after a winding drive.

Hurricane Ridge has absolutely breathtaking views from mountain ranges to trails, beautiful skies and water! The views of the Olympic Mountains are stunning in every direction, and the drive up alone is worth the trip. Whether you visit in summer for hiking and wildflowers or in winter for snowshoeing and skiing, the scenery never disappoints. The air feels crisp and clean, and there’s something peaceful about being surrounded by such untouched natural beauty. The visitor center staff are helpful and friendly, offering great tips on trails and current conditions. Be sure to bring layers - the weather can change quickly at higher elevations. Overall, it’s one of the most beautiful spots in the Pacific Northwest and a must-see for anyone visiting Olympic National Park!!

Beautiful and easy hike on March 31. From parking lot 3 it's an easy hike along the Riverside trail to see the rock formations and river. Plenty of parking, even around noon during a long weekend. Fairly easy hike but some spots do get really hot without the shade. Can be a bit trickier if you want to climb down the rocks to get down the the river for a swim.

This was really cool to see. Lots of natural pools that you can swim in. Multiple points of entry. 3 parking lots so ample parking. There is also a campground although we visited in mid September and it was already closed. There are some good trails to walk as well. I would recommend bringing something to swim in.

Nice hiking trail. Beautiful potholes and also a waterfall that was a short quick hike. However on the way back you can take a loop or go back the same way you came in from the parking lot. The loop will take you to a huge pipe that you have to take which can get a bit scary if you're afraid of falling.

I visited this place in the summer and winter. Both times were absolutely stunning. You can't get up front and person with it like you can with other nature areas in Washington, but it is still beautiful. I think my favourite part was taking a small hike to a high spot and looking down at the ocean. The massive ships look like flies which works well to show the size of the mountains. I tried to add some of my panoramas but they didn't get compressed well.

Marymere Falls

Mentioned on

Waterfall
Nature & Parks
Marymere Falls is a 90-ft.-high waterfall that can be reached via a short and popular trail through old-growth evergreens and ferns. The falls are located near the site of the Marymere resort hotel, which was built in 1906 on Barnes Point. The hotel gained popularity due to the hospitality and excellent food provided by Mrs. Rose Littleton and her assistant, Mary Daum.
This is a hike that I have done many times, and it never disappoints. It is always a wonderful experience. The parking was fine and the hike is not too hard. It is family friendly, with lots of phot-taking opportunities. After entering the trail, you get a view of Lake Crescent, where you can walk along the water's edge (and maybe even skip some rocks). The water is very cold, but also very beautiful. Then, you walk under the highway to the forest, where you walk amongst magnificent trees. The forest is always cool, so be sure to bring a light jacket or hoodie. Finding a walking stick as you enter the forest is always a 'must', as it will come in handy and make a nice takeaway from the experience. After walking through the woods for about a mile, you come upon Barnes Creek, where you can wade in the river. Be aware that running water here can be fast and powerful, so use caution. Then, you walk over the bridge and enter the deeper part of the forest. To your left, you'll catch a glimpse of the beautiful waterfall. Going in the spring or after a heavy rainfall or period where it rained a lot will make for a full waterfall and a more majestic view. Once you're on the other side of Barnes Creek, you begin the hike to the waterfall. It is uphill and steep, which is why the walking stick will come in handy. Once you start your ascent, you can choose one of two trails to the falls, the first (to the left) has stairs and railings, while the second has only rails. Coming down, the stairs is much easier on the knees than the other way (pro tip). Once you reach the falls, there is a wonderful picture opportunity. Just above the first picture spot, you can walk a very brief trail up just a little bit more to another picture spot. Then, when you leave, you get to enjoy the beautiful experience again. I would recommend bringing a backpack with water and first aid supplies. Photos of the falls and creek were taken with Google Pixel Pro 8, using the long exposure setting.
Jeremy A — Google review
Starting from the parking lot, the trail isn’t very long. For groups with slower walkers such as seniors and children, completing the loop with photo stops takes about 2 hours. For average adults, it can be done in around 1 hour. The path offers a refreshing forest walk, with two viewpoints for waterfalls. Although the waterfalls aren't particularly grand, the overall route is easy, safe, and a great choice for a family outing.
潘先生(帥潘) — Google review
You reach to the waterfall through a super easy walk alongside a lush forest with ferns and canopies. My partners tagged this place as the dino forest. It can be quite crowded of course. Definitely worth a visit. Parking is tight.

Fun, easy hike to the falls with other more challenging trails for those wanting options. It says it takes about 1.5 hours, but we did it in 50 minutes at a fairly quick pace but stopping to enjoy multiple views and sights along the way. Crescent Lake is absolutely beautiful and so incredibly clear with green and blue colors! Don’t let the idea of crowds worry you either; it was peak season but didn’t really feel crowded except when in the parking area.
Mary M — Google review
This trail exceeded our expectations. It is surrounded with beautiful trees as well as ones that are full of boss. You will have multiple Creek crossings that use really neat bridges and it is very scenic. Once you get to the waterfall, there are a couple viewing platforms and I was impressed. Not to mention the trail starts at a beautiful lake.

Walk through the Marymere Trail up the Falls is interesting. It was not thatmuch adventures as expected. Still to be carfull while walking. Years old Pine trees are the major attraction on the walk.

The Marymere Falls trail in Olympic National Park is one of my favorite easy hikes — super scenic and perfect for photos! I’m an elopement photographer and love shooting here because it’s short, flat, and surrounded by that dreamy mossy forest everyone pictures when they think of the PNW. The last few minutes go a bit uphill before the waterfall, but it’s an easy climb and totally worth it. I always recommend starting the hike from Lake Crescent Lodge instead of the Storm King Ranger Station — that route is way prettier, and the lake views by the lodge are incredible. Parking can get busy in summer, but off-season it’s quiet and peaceful. If you’re visiting Olympic National Park or looking for an easy, beautiful trail (and maybe a perfect elopement photo spot!), Marymere Falls is a must-see.

Pleasant walk on hard packed trail. Lots of wooden stairs to climb to the overlook during last 0.2 mile. Very busy on this Sunday, but the forest is very pretty.

Quinault Rainforest

Located near Olympic National Park in Washington, the Quinault Rainforest offers a plethora of activities for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can explore the Olympic Peninsula Waterfall Trail, drive through the Quinault Rainforest Loop, go whale watching in La Push, soak in Sol Duc Hot Springs, and stroll along Kalaloch Beach. Even in winter, glampers can enjoy tubing, snowboarding, skiing, and snowshoeing at Hurricane Ridge.
When Hoh is crowded with tourists, Quinault is the place to go. Drive the entire north/south loop or take the trails from the visitor center. Do not attempt to go past the center with an RV. The road narrows to one lane and is not well maintained.

I found this to be a total waste of time. The scenery is not much different than you see from any other highway in the area. The ranger station was also closed in the middle of the day in the middle of the week. Restrooms were available with running water and very clean

THE LOOP IS CLOSED AT FAR END, road isn't suitable for RVs or trucks with trailers, it turns into a gravel road with potholes and down to one lane road after the lake on the north shore. The Rainforest trail has no maps on it at the junctions, so we over shot our trail and had to walk on the southshore road for a while to get back to our car. All of that being said, I still suggest this area and its hikes. There's parking for the trailheads just before the quinalt lodge and like 3/4 mile before the lodge for the rainforest loop and lakeshore trails. Its a little buggy (we went on mothers day) so use your citronella spray! The viewing deck for the biggest doug fir is out of commission, the biggest sitka spruce is right down the road from the lodge. There's a lot of nature to see and there's a lake to play in. The campgrounds were closed in may of 2023, I don't know when they'll open again.

This place is absolutely stunning! The loop drive is the only way to take it all in. We did the Hoh Rainforest as well, and other than seeing an elk up close there, I thought the Quinault Rainforest was more interesting and just as beautiful. You won't regret coming here...trust me!!!!

A very beautiful place. You feel like a small person, that you are in some kind of movie. Good time for a day off with family.

Very beautiful. However, there was a very suspicious man in the rainforest. He showed up everywhere we were but at a distance. My husband didn't think anything of it until it became pretty obvious. I would have reported him would the visitor center or ranger been there. Go with a group and not along.

Easily hiked short trails, incredible views, not crowded in muddy March and the waters are full and rushing!

Excellent views and hiking trails. The forest is unlike anywhere I've ever visited and worth the drive. The trails are well maintained and fun to hike.
