What a well-rounded Museum, touching on almost all major types of transport. I'm not much of a train enthusiast, but I really found the train displays very fascinating. The classic car section was more up my alley with some really stunning cars on display. There is also a small section covering aviation and maritime transport as well. And best of all....it's Free to enter! Definitely worth a visit.

A hidden gem. It definitely could use little update and some new lights because it's quite dark inside. Still really cool to see all the old trains and cars. There's not many free activities these days so that's a bonus.

Definitely worth a stop and on the main route thru George, much larger than expected and very interesting vehicles focusing on trains however also classic cars and busses.

What a lovely market- well set put with plenty of seating. Numerous eateries, giving you plenty of choice. Great array of vendors from sweets, photography and paints, beautiful jeweler and jewelery, woodwork, wire work, etc.

My wife and I met and got to know very friendly people there. My wife bought some jewelry there. The saleswoman was very nice. After we got talking to her, she asked us why we looked so happy. I thought it was a strange question, but my wife replied that we were traveling to South Africa on our honeymoon. We got earrings as a gift with the jewelry. My wife was very surprised and accepted the gift with appreciation. In addition to jewelry, there are lots of different things to eat there. Like at a street food festival. However, you are more likely to find locals there than tourists.

This is such a big outdoor market. Many vendors from gifts, clothing, utensils, decor, clothing, hats, handbags, leather items to food, drinks, artisinals as well as fruit and veg. There is a lovely atmosphere with live music and gorgeous food smells guiding you as you walk through. There are tables and chairs as well as some with games where you can relax under a tree to have a quick Checkers game. There are lavatories for men and women. Parking is plenty. It is well worth the visit when you are in the area on a Saturday morning and the market closes at 2pm.

Compared to the other farmers markets in the area, this one is probably my least favourite. Surely they can make some improvements with the path ways, considering the frequent rains in George. The parking area that is closer to the market is closed off for some reason. Which means you have to walk quite the distance... in the rain. There are very few shops with home made products, not a great variety.

Great spot. Lots of food. Only reason I am giving it a 4 is because we waited long for our food and struggled to find a spot to eat it. But if you are happy to eat standing or on the move, then no worries. We especially loved the churro stand. Yum.

Lovely atmosphere. Market serving roosterkoek, burgers, pasta, eggs and bacon, Indian and Taiwanese. Lovely variety. And the desserts, omg. Also offering a whole crafters paradise and kiddies play area.

The picnic spots. The toilets and the parking areas are all super clean. The views are out of this world, amazing, beautiful and awesome.

Most beautiful, spectacular pass on the N12 between the towns of Beaufort West and De Rust. The pass is a gateway that connects the Little Karoo and the Great Karoo through a gorge with a 25 km road crossing the same river 25 times in the span of the 25 km. Many picnic spot area with toilets. The biggest picnic spot is where the walkway is to a waterfall. Well worth the walk.

Magnificent mountains and well maintained road. A road trip you will never forget.

The shape of land is interesting. You need to pass gravel road at the final section but very easy road. There are not many people here. To me, the place for paragliding was much better. It is just in front of Map of Africa and the view is great! But that site is private property. When I went there, the gate was open. But need to check it

Views are the same as the rest of the places I visited, so is it worth the drive and the time? I would personally say no. There is a lady who is there as an unofficial commentator expecting tips.

Really beautiful sight to enjoy the freedom of picturing the Map of Africa or a crocodile head. Well worth the drive to this viewpoint. And not far from it, paragliding on your own or with an instructor.

Gorgeous views. I couldn’t see the map everyone is talking about, must be my lack of imagination. Nonetheless, absolutely gorgeous views. Fun to watch paragliders take off with beautiful ocean views on the other side of the hill.

Got there around 16:30 as the last people were leaving. Wish we could've stayed longer but there was a dodgy character hanging around that kept approaching us. Despite that, the view is breathtaking. Best advice would be to go in a group.

Stunning views of the forest and mountains. On the other hand, you get the ocean view. Best of both worlds. It's free. However, you drive a bit on gravel road for a few km.

Beautiful views and did paragliding

Wide and long beach with limited parking and a bathroom at one end of the beach. Many access stairs along the kilometers to the street. There is a designated landing area for Paragliders that launch from the Map of Africa hill. Mostly families but be aware of the seeded types looking for an opportunity. No matter where you go, there are always the very poor looking for things....

Wilderness beach front is a secret pocket on the Garden Route, just a tiny cove where surfers ride the same waves on loop, cottages cling to the rocks, and the old rail line watches from above. No big resorts, no fuss, just salt, sun, and fried calamari. A small bay with a big horizon, quietly stealing the show.

Why do we love this beach? He is not like any other. There are great sandy beaches in many places in the world, in Thailand, Mauritius, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and 1,000 other places, but nowhere else. It's a big wonderful huge Indian jacuzzi! You don't need to swim here, you just have to go into the water, and it's not far away, and the rolling waves will create an effect that you won't get anywhere else in the world. Try it yourself and you won't regret anything!

Long beautiful beach for extended walks with stunning views

One of the cleanest beaches you will ever see. We appreciate the security on the beach and the several life guard swimming areas. Definetily a must for anyone visiting the Garden Route.

Everything is clean and well maintained. Disabled and elderly people find it difficult to use toilets. No handls noe wheelchair ramps.

One of the most beautiful beaches in South Africa, kilometers long and beautifully clean. There are several swimming points where life guards are provided during season, current can be strong but the lifeguards choose the safest spots to swim. Leuntjies Klip is the first beach and it's a favorite of locals and visitors, parking can be tough at certain times of year but arrive early and leave before the sun gets too hot. Not a lot of services on the beach so bring your own refreshments. Leuntjies Klip and the main beach near Salinas restaurant provide bathrooms and showers. An incredible beach for an early morning walk it goes on forever.

We liked to hike in here. The path was well maintained. But it was crowded and we had to pay a big entrance fee. We like to contribute, but it was overpriced. Robben berg is so much cheaper. And in the george Mountains, it's even free with many more opportunities.

Great experience, fresh air walks with the kids, the trail is beautiful, well seen walk way, slippery parts especially crossing over the streams so definitely need good shoes going on this. Overall the family time spend and nature explored is well worth it. And the waterfall a definite must see.

Very nice accesible walk under the tree canopies. Long sections have a boardwalk. Lovely sightings of birds.

Beautiful forest untouched and unkempt...a bit too unkept.. The benches and walkways looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks

The place is very well organized. Very beautiful. However, not much activity to do but you can enjoy a good picnic there. Very clean toilet. we did the boat riding, and the most thing that I appreciate is that they were very considering and flexible to our accommodate out request of having a short ride for 40 minutes instead of one hour and half and they gave us a reasonable discounted price. We enjoyed the boat trip very much.

The waterfall area is beautiful, with many large pools perfect for swimming in the heat! The hike concludes with quite a lengthily boardwalk in the trees which is great for spotting birds at eye level and generally getting a nice viewpoint down to the river. The “hike” (more of a walk really) was really easy and I would recommend it to people of all ages and abilities. The only reason it got 4/5 stars is the sheer amount of litter around the waterfall. (More than I could carry back in my small hiking bag)

Beautiful view, this place gets a lot of visitors, low tide you can go round the beach part to the rock parts (point), great for walking or jogging, just remember to return by 2pm when high tide comes in from the point area to the beach entrance.

Breath-taking views all along the way! It's a nice walk along the beach with sights along the way. You can walk from different points along the way but it's best to keep an eye on the tides if you walk far. There are many rock pools for kids to swim or snorkel in. Loads of bird and animal life.

Gericke’s Point in Sedgefield is truly one of the most beautiful spots in South Africa. The combination of golden beaches, dramatic rock formations, and crystal-clear ocean views makes it feel almost untouched. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk, a swim, or just sitting and watching the waves crash against the rocks. If you’re lucky, you might even spot dolphins or whales in the distance. A must-visit for anyone who loves nature and breathtaking coastal scenery!

Easy beach and rock walk with kids during low tide. Tip: Get some rock shoes for easy rock pool exploring. A lot of marine life on the rocks.

Our most favourite place in the world. Stunning beach. Quite a substantial walk but well worth it. Can only be accessed at low tide. Toilet at the parking area. Not many parking spots. Bring water. No dogs allowed due to endangered black oyster catcher breeding pairs.

Great walk to the point with interesting rock formations. Lots of little pools with marine life along the way, but the best are at the point. Go at low tide to enjoy them without waves crashing into you, and bring a snorkel. The view from the top of the point is excellent. It takes about 20min to track the point from the car park.

Breathtakingly beautiful. We walked from the parking. It was an hour before lowtide so we strolled along the beach and explored the rock pools. We saw some beautiful sea anemone and starfish. Don't go barefoot on the rocks - you could cut your feet. This is one of the most beautiful and interesting beach walks.

We arrived early so parking was not a problem. When walking into the market we were greeted by the delightful music and singing of a local group, authentic Cape sounds and lyrics. The stalls have high quality artisan food, produce and baked goods at affordable prices. Cash is rewarded with discounts but card machines were available at most stalls. The venue is pet friendly with lots of people walking with dogs on leashes. The food stalls provide delicious meals prepared fresh and very quickly. A definite MUST as an outing.

It's a very busy, bustling market, if you like that sort of thing. There were a lot of vendors, as well as a large selection of food stalls to choose from, although the wait times were quite long. We enjoyed a tasty sweet and sour chicken pie from one of the stalls as we walked around. Beautiful selection of freshly cut flowers, herbs and plants for sale. Loved seeing all the paragliders as well!

Wild Oats Community Farmers’ Market in Sedgefield is a delightful experience for anyone visiting the Garden Route. Well known for excellent and varied Artisan food and delicious type delicacy. The cheesecake from the garden of Aiden is truly "Simply the best" Go early and hungry.

A really fun morning with so much to see taste and explore. Definitely a bit of an institution in the area and well worth adding to any trip. Plan on spending the whole morning here into the early afternoon. It’s great that the market is a no smoking no vaping zone so it’s not a chaotic eat at and it’s super dog friendly with designated areas for seating with dogs and others for no dogs. A very busy market well attended but not overcrowded at all and easy to find a spot to eat. We particularly liked the stall holders listing of what they were about with badges depicting if they were local or if the producer was at the stall etc… Well worth supporting m!

This store openly displays racism. One of their wooden signs says “DISCOUNT is a place in CHINA”, which is blatantly offensive, discriminatory, and completely unacceptable. Such a sign is not “funny” — it is racist and disrespectful to an entire nation and its people. For a business to put this up shows a shocking lack of awareness and sensitivity. I strongly urge the owners to remove this racist sign immediately and reflect on the harm it causes. Customers deserve to shop in a place that promotes respect, not xenophobia. Until this is addressed, I cannot recommend this store to anyone.

Popped in here for a Craft Beer tasting and an amazing 14hour Slow Cooked smoked Beef Brisket on a Panini (Their Speciality meal that is prepared by the owner) and we left feeling like part of the family. Great friendly service with plenty of smiles. A definite "Must experience" when in the Sedgefield area.

Stunning place! Had the best strawberry beer there - A must try. Amd the little bakery makes the best chocolate donuts, huge pretzels and sourdough breads. A very nice little play area too for the kids. Would absolutely reccommend !

A refreshing stop on our way past. I enjoyed an omelet and a coffee. Toilets are clean. It was quite muddy at the entrance due to rain the previous night.

The thing that first attracted me to the Scarab market in Sedgefield was the vibrancy and energy of the market. There used to be stalls at the entrance and stalls scattered around, open and inviting. It was what I call organized chaos, like nature it flowed and I enjoyed meandering around the vibrant market spending my money. But unfortunately this time I noticed that the "vibe" was gone. There were no stalls in front of the building. The stalls were boxed up in straight lines. It felt to me like a military base camp. Cold linear and too structured. The vibrant energy gone. It kind of left me feel cheated out on my spending spree and adventure. I had no interest in staying long. I really do wish the vendors success in sales and business. Sadly I have no desire to go back there. It's completely lost it's energy and vibe.

Overall, really enjoyable hike! The path is extremely well signed and even has distance markers. If you do it the correct way around (anticlockwise) there is also a fork where you can choose to do the 9km or turn off and do the 3km hike. There aren't really any views, however, there is a great spot to swim in the river and a nice small waterfall with a pool below it. It's 90% under the cover of the forest which is nice for hot days, although it can get quite humid.

It is highly recommended. We completed the 3km hike, which was quite manageable. The scenery was lovely, but please be mindful of spiders. A 9km trail and other hiking paths are also available within the nature reserve. Please remember that there is an entrance fee.

What a place. Old forest and the upkeep by Sanparks is world class. We did the 9 km route and are going to do it again. Fantastic.

This is a very spesial place to visit. The well known writer of Circles in the Forest (Kringe in die bos) Daleen Matthee memorial are near one of the big Yellow wood trees in the forest. This is a place to walk soft and whisper because the forest speak in his voice with you. The trees watch and time stand still. And if you think back in time maybe there are still elefants walking in the forest. Enjoy the forest and the little creek were the water are clean and cold.

Beautiful trail in the indigenous Knysna forest. There is a shorter 3km loop, but the 9km loop is the most beautiful. Can definitely recommend this trail.

The trail was amazing an not too difficult. You need to pay R55 to enter. No cash. We found some monkeys on the trail. The silence of the bush was awesome!

The Featherbed Eco walk with lunch did not disappoint. Even the overcast weather couldn’t put a damper on the afternoon. It starts with a 20min boat ride across the beautiful Knysna Estuary with interesting and entertaining commentary provided by our guide - Colin. The buffet lunch at the Featherbed restaurant was delicious with a full selection of meats, veggies, salads and deserts - drinks are not included (no cash accepted). We were shuttled up to the top of the reserve with a 60-70 min walk down to the cave (time depends on how many times you stop to take photos, and there are so many beautiful spots) Colin our Guide was not only extremely knowledgeable on the history and nature on the reserve but was also very patient with our all girls group 😁. The views throughout the walk are breathtaking and the photos don’t do it justice. All the Featherbed staff are amazing and I highly recommend this experience if you are in Knysna. We booked online and prices vary depending on the day and season. We paid R550 per person (midweek) and ticket prices includes everything except drinks and staff tips.

Thank you to Maurice and the team for a wonderful half day out to the Nature Reserve. Lovely welcome, informative boat journey and drive followed by a wonderful walk through the reserve. We then stayed for the buffet lunch with was excellent and plentiful. One tip - take your swim stuff. There is a great little beach by the beach bar you can swim off. It isn’t mentioned in their description it well worth knowing on a sunny day!!

Beautiful 2.2 km hiking trial (easy). They take you by boat to the starting point where you meet up with a truck and the truck takes up the hill, so the hike is all downhill with spectacular views. They provide walking sticks, but the route is very easy so the sticks are not really necessary. You end with a one-hour buffet lunch. My husband enjoyed the warm calamari dish, whereas I preferred the cold calamari salad.

The most beautiful nature reserve I have ever been to!From the mainland you are taken to the reserve by the tour guide on a ferry. The lunch was amazing and the mountain top views are breathtakingly beautiful

This was absolutely amazing . The whole experience from the ferry to the buffet lunch was great. You take a ferry from the Harbour to the west head . Upon arrival you take a 4x4 trip the top of the west head stopping at a few spots for fantastic photo opportunities. Then you walk down ( 2.2km ) alongside the mountain back to the main house where you are served with a 5 star buffet lunch . The walk down is not hard at all . The entire adventure has a scenic view from start to finish and the buffet lunch was easily the best I have ever had with a big variety of food choices. I would recommend this to everyone when they visit Knysna . Definitely worth every penny ... A must do ...

This was an amazing outing and experience. The boat trip across the lake to the nature reserve, the drive up the mountain and the awesome 2.2km scenic walk back to the boat. Quick drink and food and back to the mainland. 3 to 4 hours trip. Totally worth it and we will do it again. Thanks for this awesome experience.

A very rewarding drive through an excuisite landscape. Worth the effort!

What an adventure! It's scary with tight hair pin bends, narrow dirt/rocky road that needs some patience when passing on-coming cars. But.... the scenery is stunning! Any car with good tyres (and good brakes too) will be fine. I was fortunate from the start when a lovely couple found me parked at the side of the road deliberating whether to proceed or take the longer tarred road. They said just follow them which gave me some comfort and confidence as a solo traveller. It is just so beautiful although eyes stayed mainly the road! Only managed to get a few photos. Been on the Swartberg Pass which is also beautiful but even more scary. As one goes down towards Knysna the scenery changes to lush green forests and the road gets easier to navigate. One thing to watch out for is locals who know the road and tend to drive rather fast.

Take the scenic route but not for the faint hearted, especially when its raining. Beautiful unspoilt scenery.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A truly special and educational experience! Visiting the Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary was one of the highlights of our trip. The sanctuary is beautifully maintained, and the staff are clearly passionate about the animals and their wellbeing. It’s not just wolves—they have huskies, jackals, wild dogs, and even some farm animals, all in spacious and clean enclosures. The guided tour was both informative and engaging. We learned a lot about the wolves’ behaviour, their rescue stories, and the importance of conservation. You can really feel how much love and care goes into every part of this sanctuary. What stood out most was the peaceful atmosphere—perfect for animal lovers and families alike. The walkways are easy to follow, and there’s even a lovely little café and gift shop on site. Also, the opportunity to see wolves up close in a safe and ethical environment is something you don’t come across often. Highly recommended for anyone travelling along the Garden Route—it’s an unforgettable experience and a great way to support animal rescue efforts!

Absolutely stunning facility and the passione and information from the tour guide was just amazing. Loved the experience of meeting all the wolf-dogs and wolves. The 3 adorable huskies oldies were just the cherry on the top of the experience. Very beautiful and misunderstood animals. The farm animals were just the coolest. Thank for a lovely tour and adventure. 5 stars all the way.

I visited the Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary with high hopes, especially after paying the R200 entrance fee per person. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed and would not recommend this experience. From the moment we entered, nearly all the wolves were sleeping or completely inactive. I understand that animals have their own rhythms, but as a visitor, it’s quite frustrating to find almost every animal asleep, especially when there is no guidance or signage to manage expectations. What made the experience worse was the attitude of one of the staff members. A female staff member approached us in a very harsh and disrespectful manner early during our visit. I had snapped my fingers trying to get the attention of the wolves—something I didn’t know was not allowed. Instead of politely explaining, she abruptly told me, “Respect! Respect!” in a raised, confrontational tone. I tried to explain that I didn’t know it was against the rules, but she cut me off and falsely accused me of kicking the fence and running around—which I absolutely did not do. I was shocked and frustrated by how she exaggerated what happened. From that point on, she continued to watch us, making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Ironically, the small petting farm section turned out to be far more enjoyable than the main wolf area. The farm animals were active, friendly, and fun to interact with—unlike the sleeping wolves and the cold human interaction. In summary: • Ticket price: R200 per person • Animals: Mostly inactive wolves with minimal interaction • Staff: One rude and unprofessional staff member created a very negative atmosphere • Best part: The farm animal section — much more enjoyable than expected Unless staff attitudes and visitor communication improve, I wouldn’t recommend this place. You might regret the visit, just as I did.

We highly recommend adding the Garden Route Wolf Sanctuary to your itinerary when visiting the area. It's an unforgettable experience that supports a wonderful cause!

Was very nice 👌 I love wolves and just wanted to support a good cause for the upkeep of their wellbeing. The cages were clean and had adequate space. All cages had a water spot for them to swim in as they feel the summer with their coats. Well done on your great passion. I enjoyed it. Support them for the good of the wolves and dogs

Incredible opportunity to interact with elephants up close. A 45 minute experience includes a short tractor ride to the elephants. You can buy a bucket of food to feed them and then pose for some photos. The guides are very friendly and helpful. It is most definitely worth a visit

We enjoyed taking this picture. It was so much fun! The elephants are majestic animals. Loved being able to feed them and take picks with them! The fact that there were washbasins to wash our hands were a nice touch! The kids immediately ran to the play park after we finished with the elephants. Well worth a visit.

What an absolutely amazing experience at Knysna Elephant Park! Truly a once in a lifetime experience getting to be up close and personal with some of Mother Nature's most beautiful and majestic creatures. My wife and I truly had a magical time getting to see, feed and walk alongside these gentle giants. Definitely a core memory for us both and one that we can't wait to share with our kids one day too. The work this park does is so important and we are glad we could be involved too. What an experience.

Knysna Elephant Park is absolutely extraordinary and you do get to walk with the elephants, we got to feed them and literally have a close-encounter. The Knysna Elephant Park (est. 1994) and is as brilliant today as it was then... Highly recommend this wonderful family park...

It was an awesome experience. When I got there, the kids were busy feeding the elephants. It was also great to see the cabins in which people can sit and watch the animals while sitting in the comfort of their cabins - especially at night when the animals are relaxed.

I had the best experience at the Park, the staff was very welcoming and helpful. Everything was done efficiently and the briefing video really simplified things. My highlight is the interaction I had with the Elephants, I will forever cherish that moment. Their restrooms were very clean. The food from the restaurant was warm, fresh and delicious. I will visit again.

It's an amazing place to visit and pretty much a must to put on a list. To see this animals up close is fantastic. Afterwards, they have a really nice cafe with an cozy open fire, nice if the weather isn't 100%.

Best dog friendly beach in the area. 🐶 Stunning evenings can be spent while savouring the best beach experience. Relatively clean ablutions and fresh water showers to rinse off after a swim.

Nice beach. I'd just have to say, make sure to get you bearings where you come down from the car parking. Once you're on the beach it's difficult to tell one set of steps from another and where they lead to.

A beach off season has an exceptional appeal ! A warm sunny mid winter July day and we walked for miles - we loved the dog stick sign and that the locals were warm and kind - it surprised us to see just how many beach walkers there were at this time - perhaps Plett is more of an all year round destination after all ! Do go any season of the year - you won’t regret it 🇿🇦

Such beauty Incredible scenery to take in, and good birdlife. The hike is incredible, although slightly challenging in places, so make sure you're wearing decent shoes. The beach is awesome and the island is well worth a visit. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here, even if it was just for an afternoon

Great place to hike. Definitely plan to do the big hike (min. 4 hrs.). Hike is not really complicated but you have to climb over rocks so I would rate it as mid to hard. You can see (and smell) the seals and also the great scenery. One of the best hikes we did in South Africa. We also saw a lot of dolphins and a whale (unfortunately far away but you can see them). The shark watcher also said he saw a big white shark a week before our visit.

Another beautiful place which is a must visit. Got to see live and dead seals, comorants and a dead whale on the beach. Its a bit of hike and we need good shoes with proper grip to walk on slippery rocks.

One of the most beautiful short length beach trails I have seen. I grew up in South Africa bit somehow never made it here till I returned with my wife on our honeymoon and I do reregt not gisitomg this part of the country sooner. If you are in Plett, I would suggest doing this, even of only the shortest trail.

GORGEOUS views. We did the mid-sized trail and it was intense already - some difficult pieces along the way, but nothing impossible. Keep following the signs and you should have no problem. If you can, go with impermeable shoes all closed because of the sand. The seals are easy to hear and spot, but binoculars make it easier. It’s amazing, you will love it.

Amazing views!!! We did the full hike to the point saw so much beauty. I recommend you bring plenty of water and something to eat if you're going to do the long hike.

An amazing hiking trail! I would say it’s more of an intermediate-level hike, with breathtaking views along the way. The untouched, virgin beaches felt like part of a dream. My boys especially loved spending time there—they even created a fun character called “PEPE”, complete with multiple defense systems to protect him from the wild, crashing waves. It was such a memorable and adventurous experience!

It was my first time having an interaction with an elephant or even seeing one. I understand why people love them so much. The staff were amazing they made us feel welcomed ☺️ I definitely wouldn't mind going again.

A fantastic park for up-close encounters with elephants. The guides are friendly and incredibly knowledgeable — by the end of your visit, you’ll know each elephant by name: Thandi, Nandi, Thato, and Keisha. To make your visit even more special and connect with the elephants, be sure to buy a basket of vegetables at the counter — they’ll love being fed by you!

Amazing experience!!! It was our granddaughter's Birthday. The staff made her day extra special. We purchased our tickets at the Plettenberg Tourism Office at a discounted price. The experience was well worth the price. The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Once in a time expirience, worth it every minute. There's no price to stay so close to these amazing animals and even to touch and interact with them.

A very well guided experience of the monkey sanctuary. Interesting to find out that the monkeys own the land that they roam around in. The whole setup and experience is nice and you get to come close to a lot of the monkeys during the tour. The tour is guided so you’re not free to roam around and last about and hour. Would recommend as an alternative activity if you’re in the area. Overall would recommend.

Amazing experience for the whole family. The tour guide was well informed. He showed us each Monkey in retrospec of differences. We enjoyed the tour thoroughly and will definitely visit there one day. It was an absolute highlight on our vacation. Thanks Monkeyland.

What a special experience, getting to walk amongst these adorable monkeys in their natural habitat. Listening to the sounds of nature, seeing the monkeys at peace and living free was a really rewarding experience. The fact that they have been rescued and rehabilitated is also such an important cause, and one that we should all get behind. You can get involved and reclaim their land by paying for a block of land - each piece helping to extend their home. Such a worthwhile visit and one my wife and I would suggest to anyone visiting or staying in Plettenberg Bay.

Informative and interesting visit to Monkeyland. We saw Gibbons, Langurs, Lemurs, Capuchin Monkey, Howler Monkey, Spider Monkey, Vervet Monkey. The animals have healthy food buffets setup for them around the trail. I'm not a biologist so am not sure of the implications of housing this many monkey species freeroaming in the same area that would never cross each other's paths in the wild as they live on different continents. The widowed and childless female Gibbon was very sad to see. She looked despondent. Unfortunately our guide became preoccupied with retrieving a pair of prescription glasses stolen by a monkey from a person in a previous group. He warned us he was going to throw a rock near it to get it to drop the glasses. A rock about half the size of a cricket ball was pegged at the monkey. I thought it was going to hit it. The monkey took off further up the tree. We stood several times for minutes at a time alone while he went back to try again, making the tour very disjointed. The glasses werent even for anyone in our group so we had no vested interest. The glasses were not retrieved. The pitch on arrival to buy a 1m3 patch of land in trust to the monkeys would probably be best served at the end of the tour after we have seen the park. It is hard to commit to something (even a small donation such as this) without experiencing the facility first. At the end we were taken back a different way and nowhere near the gift shop and reception area and I'm sure some people would have donated then. We much preferred our visit to Birds of Eden next door. Quite expensive for a 1 hour tour.

Had a great time seeing the monkeys freely roam around, as they do in the wild. Enrico was a great host and provided us with a lot of information! Thank you for all the work you do for these lovely creatures ❤️

We thoroughly enjoyed our zany and educational experience at Monkeyland. Our guide Ralph was very knowledgeable and indulged all our questions. It was so fun and relaxing walking throught the forest and see the monkeys get into all sorts of hijinks - including a near successful theft of my water bottle! Some of the monkeys are very cheeky. A must-do in the region!

Loved Birds of Eden! We were taken around by 20 year veteran guide Eric. The aviary is enormous and the birds truly live in paradise. They can freely fly, have plenty of space and water, seed and fruit buffets setup for them in many places. Our tour lasted just over an hour. The landscaping is stunning, so much greenery, a waterfall, suspension bridge. We saw many species of bird including natives to South Africa - my favourite being the Turaco. My all time favourites the Macaw were also there in blue and yellow and scarlet varieties were also here. Flamingoes, scarlet ibis, geese, egrets, lovebirds - all here. You can buy a bird identification book at the gift shop for only R20. The birds you see on your visit will vary because the aviary is so huge. Reminded me a lot of KL Bird Park in Malaysia - all Birds of Eden is a lot more expensive. I wish we could have had lunch at the cafe overlooking the lake but our visit was very early in the morning. Bonus - resident cat that lives in the female bathrooms.

The most incredible experience we've had in South Africa so far! Give yourself AT LEAST two hours to walk through and be amazed. I can't say enough about it: here's a few thousand more words, in pictures! Many of the birds are so accustomed to this no-touch sanctuary that they feel completely comfortable posing for close-up photos. Unforgettable!

The overall experience was great.. Happy to have supported this institute. My only dissapoint was that they were not stocked with their booklets that describe the bird species they had.

This is our second visit to Birds of Eden. Of all the sanctuaries near Plett, this one is very special to me. Something about the large dome enclosure, the variety of birds and the lush greenery made for a calming nature experience. We will be back again.

Place is a paradise of tranquility & a must visit when in the area for exotic & normal bird/nature watchers/lovers. Even though a part was under construction, it was still wonderful to get to see all sorts of birds & moving between them. The staff was very friendly. Will most definately visit it again.

Birds of Eden was an unforgettable highlight of our trip! The aviary is enormous, with well-maintained and comfortable walkways that wind beautifully through the trees. Along the way, we were treated to some stunning views and an incredible variety of fascinating birds. This isn't a place to rush through—it's best enjoyed at a leisurely pace, allowing time to wander slowly, observe, and appreciate the birds in their naturalistic habitat. Highly recommended!

Great adventure.. must try it .. lovely staff especially king Julian and Buna. You will get wet so wear your swimming suit. You will do a bit of hiking so bring a sturdy shoes but it will get soaked in water. You can rent their shoes but some of them are not safe and can make you slip

A big thank you to the amazing TebZzzz and King Julian of Madagascar for being such hospitable, energetic guides who kept us calm and informed at all times. Our family of 5 including mum and dad and 3 teens LOVED the ziplining, abseil and watching Julian perform the spider man walk down the rocks during ziplining which was absolutely remarkable and of course the uber black service when we were too tired to swim! We highly recommend it! Suffice to say ‘Cheese and rice’ will never be the same again :)

Amazing Canyoning Experience! The canyoning tour was absolutely fantastic! A huge shout-out to our two incredible guides, Tebz and King Julien. They took such great care of the whole group, paying attention to each person individually and always making sure everyone felt safe and comfortable. Their professionalism and focus on safety really stood out. If you’re booking this activity, I’d definitely recommend asking for Tebz and King Julien specifically – they made the experience unforgettable! They also created a fun, relaxed atmosphere and took great photos of all the participants, which you can buy afterwards as a nice memory. The tour itself had everything you could wish for in a canyoning adventure: abseiling, jumps up to 7 meters, and several ziplines. It was the perfect mix of thrill, teamwork, and stunning nature. Highly recommended – 10/10 experience

Absolutely fantastic experience - highly recommended!! Our guides were Steph and Darren who had the perfect mix of fun and safety with our 3 little kids aged, 8,8 & 10. It was awesome to see the kids abseiling, zip lining, jumping in plunge pools and really pushing themselves & their confidence levels. I would definitely recommend this activity to anyone looking to do something a bit different and push them outside of their comfort zone! It was superb! Thank you again to the whole team. 🙏🙏

We had an amazing adventure with King Julian & Tebzzzzzz, they were great guides and looked after us so well. We were really impressed with the safety aspect of the trip, we never felt like we were being put in danger, both were full of humour and put us right at ease. Despite feeling very safe, we still had an adrenaline fuelled trip which we would absolutely do again! We could not fault them 😀 100% recommend!

This was truly one of the best experiences my wife and I have ever had! Tenikwa is a excellent place for family bring kids to visit. My little girl really enjoyed to vist Tenikwa. Tenikwa is a non- profit wildlife animals place, there is a wildlife hospital to rescued so many animals, and also adopted some of them if they are not suitable to live at wild anymore. The tour guider is really nice and to introduce all animals to our family, and educating kids how to save the environment.

Tenikwa Wildlife Rehabilitation & Awareness Centre is a truly remarkable place that highlights the humane and compassionate side of wildlife conservation. It provides care for animals that can no longer survive in the wild, such as lions, cheetahs, and other endangered species. Injured animals are treated and, if possible, released back into their natural habitat. Those that cannot return to the wild are given a safe and supportive environment within the center. One of the most impressive aspects of Tenikwa is how close visitors can get to the animals, all under the guidance of knowledgeable and passionate guides. We were fortunate to be accompanied by Davison, who made the experience truly exceptional. Even better, our visit happened to coincide with feeding time, so we got to witness cheetahs and other wild cats being fed—a rare and unforgettable sight. By purchasing a ticket, you’re not just enjoying a unique experience—you’re also directly supporting the center’s mission to care for and protect wildlife. It’s an experience that combines education, conservation, and awe-inspiring encounters with nature. A visit to Tenikwa is absolutely worth it.

Our entire experience at Tenikwa Wildlife Centre was amazing. From arrival to departure, we were made to feel welcome and felt that the friendly staff went out of their way to make our experience feel memorable. Sleeping in the self catering eco-cabin amongst gorgeous fynbos, just meters away from the lions, was the most wonderful unforgettable experience. We felt their presence the entire time - even in the middle of the night, when they blessed us with their goosebump-generating roars! We so enjoyed unwinding on the little porch, having a cup of coffee in the morning listening to the birds, or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening, just taking in the night time sounds and experience, and reconnecting with nature. Be prepared for an early morning wake up call from the lions – no need for an alarm clock! You’ll want to record their gorgeous guttural sound – it’s a really humbling experience to experience up close. How wonderful to be able to see the Lions from every angle. Just being in their presence was the most incredible experience we have ever had. Kuluma and Mkulu sat and “chatted” with us up close and personal at the fence a few times – and having never been so close to Lions before, this was quite a soul-stirring experience. They really are just spectacularly beautiful. The guided tour around the sanctuary was fantastic. Our beautiful photographs will be treasured. Zwelakhe the Leopard was a gorgeous model, and we have captured stunning mischievous Meerkat moments. All staff were super professional, yet laid back enough to make you feel so welcomed and relaxed. We travel and adventure often in our beautiful country, and were struck by how much the staff at this centre genuinely love their animals, telling us little stories of their antics, and sharing their personality traits and quirks with us. The sanctuary itself is so beautifully maintained and most importantly all the animals had ample space and they looked really healthy and happy. This sanctuary was developed to treat and home (if absolutely necessary) rescued wild animals that have been injured or for other reasons are unable to survive on their own in the wild. We were shocked to hear that Tenikwa often deals with over 200 injured animals a month in their animal hospital. It is an absolute credit to the amazing owners that they have dedicated their lives to this worthy work. Knowing that our booking contributes in some small way to this important cause, I could not recommend it any higher. We didn’t have tine to indulge in the Spa treatments on offer at the facility, but took a tour of the Spa centre – and will make sure we include this in our itinerary next time. If you haven’t put Tenikwa Wildlife Sanctuary on your bucket list yet, we recommend that you do.

If there’s one place on this holiday that truly moved me, it was the Tenikwa Rehabilitation and Awareness Centre. From the moment we arrived, it was clear just how deeply Mandy, Len, Keri, Alex and their team care for every animal they look after. Their dedication isn’t just something you see — you feel it. We weren’t able to see the animals currently being rehabilitated, as they wisely limit human contact, but that only made the experience more meaningful. We were privileged to meet the lions, cheetahs and the many other varieties of wild cats who, for various reasons, cannot return to the wild. And it wasn’t just the big cats — the sanctuary is also home to an incredible range of other animals, including meerkats, penguins, tortoises and a huge variety of birdlife. Being surrounded by so much life and hearing each animal’s story was deeply humbling. We were shown around by Msizi and Zama, whose knowledge, warmth and respect for the animals added so much depth to the experience. Our stay was just as special. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and wonderfully comfortable. Spending a night in one of the lion cabins was an experience I’ll carry with me forever — drifting off to sleep with the sounds of the sanctuary around us felt truly magical. Breakfast the next morning, prepared by Precious and Davidson, was made to order, beautifully cooked, and such a great start to the day. A recent addition to Tenikwa is their wellness centre, where we enjoyed a fabulous massage by Josephine — a perfect way to unwind. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to this remarkable non-profit organisation. It will touch your heart, and our support helps sustain the extraordinary, compassionate work they do for some of the world’s most vulnerable animals.

A wonderful, informative and transparent wildlife sanctuary. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and the grounds are very well kept! We left with new insight into the work that goes into conservation, and the meaning behind a TRUE wildlife sanctuary. Their motto rings true: “Come with an Open Mind, Tread with a Lighter Step, Leave with a Change of Heart”... A worthy cause to support when in the area.

Nature's Valley Rest Camp offers a truly serene escape into nature, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lush surroundings, peaceful atmosphere, and proximity to stunning trails and beaches made it a perfect getaway. The staff were friendly and helpful, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience. While we loved the camp, a few areas could benefit from some maintenance to enhance the overall experience. However, this did not detract from the charm and tranquility of the place. We look forward to returning and seeing how this hidden gem continues to improve!

We stayed at the electricity-included camping site. Sizes vary, but ours was large enough for a caravan, a small trailer with a rooftop tent, and 2 large vehicles. Some sites are smaller, but all are equally beautiful - deep in the bush, a little wet and cold (probably more the season than anything), but all around very nice. Bathrooms are also clean and well kept.

Camp sites are not swept clean and there is no dustbins. There is 220v connection points at some of the stands. The ablutions is fantastic and clean, there is a fully equipped kitchen with fridge and a fully equipped laundry. Lots to do with kids.

What a place for peace and quiet. I've already booked my next stay. It was raining cats and dogs the day we visited but even that was an experience worth doing again. I loved it. Waking up to the abundance of bird life, monkeys,baboons and bush buck. Definitely worth a visit. Even if its just a day visit.

We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist - Jamaima. She really went out of her way to accommodate us. Thank you. The location of our chalet were perfect. The view was simply stunning, tranquil and very romantic. Incredible birdlife. As far as the chalet is concerned. The layout with the deck is great. I think SANParks can use some of their profit to plow back into the chalets. They do need maintenance inside and outside.

I would never leave! It is quite basic but very well maintained. Staff are incredible, and the location is just gorgeous.

We camped and it was great. Toilets, laundry and wash up facilities were clean and operational. There are also fridges and freezes. As far as camping goes it was 💯

A real thrill – fast, fun and surprisingly well organized This bungee jump is a real thrill. At first you might feel like things are a bit chaotic because the team is also having a good time and the vibe feels like a party. But in the end everything is well structured and clearly organized. They double-check everything, take photos of all the safety steps and make sure you’re properly secured. The whole process goes quickly and with a relaxed energy. Before you even realize it, you’re already jumping. The actual jump is intense – especially the moment when you’re all set and just waiting to be released. That feeling stays with you. All in all, definitely something to try if you’re looking for a serious adrenaline rush. But think twice – it’s not for the faint-hearted.

The place was absolutely beautiful and the view was incredible. I couldn’t do the bungee jump because I had a really bad muscle cramp in my leg, but we sat there, watched our friends do it, and the vibes were amazing. According to all our friends who tried it, the jump is super safe and they loved every second of it. We also had coffee with an incredible view and took some really nice photos. Overall, definitely worth the visit — even if you’re not jumping!

We watched the Bloukrans Bungy from the restaurant, and it was clear that the jumpers had a fantastic time. The Bloukrans Bungee is an absolutely unforgettable experience! The team is professional, energetic, and makes you feel safe and confident every step of the way. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker or just ticking something off your bucket list, this is a must-do adventure in South Africa.

My first bungy jump and I couldn’t ask for more excitement! Absolutely professional staff and they also have fun! Recommend everybody to do the zipline and hangout as well as the jump. Great price also, I would absolutely do it again!

The bungy experience is truly amazing. The process runs smoothly and the safety is guaranteed at all times. The staff is very fun and friendly. I have not booked online in advance and was lucky to get a spot. Arrive ca. 1h before your intended jump time.

The correct distance from the Oceanettes (last accomodation on the Western side) is 2.7 Km’s to the Waterfall and 2.7 km’s back. That is where the “track” start, to that point it is a paved road. Also see a beautiful cave on the way to the waterfall. Next time we will do a day trip to picnic at the Waterfall.

The hiking trail to the waterfall offers beautiful views of the coastline and waves. A very good experience.

The waterfall was not too big when we got there, probably not much rain before. The trail itself is just extraordinary fun to walk. Challenging at times it's just a pure joy to walk.

Super hike to get here. Some of it has stairs built, but much of it involves scrambling across boulders while you consider if you're even heading the correct way. The signs suggest it to take 3-4 hours to hike to and to start the trail no later than 14:30, but we started late, rushed the trail and managed to complete the round trip in 2 hours (6km total), including a 15 minute dip in the red water at the end. The waterfall itself wasn't so impressive, but the water it provided was lovely to swim in.

Fantastic experience. This hike is not for beginners and is extremely technical. The swim at the waterfall was a well deserved reward. One of the most beautiful hikes I have done.

The waterfall definitely was not the highlight...but we loved the hike!!! The landscape was beautiful and the trail was a bit tough at times but we totally enjoyed it!!!

First day of Otter trail. 6km walk from camp there and back. Took us 3hours with a great swim in the pools at the waterfall! Absolutely Still!
