The game drive was nice. It was an informative trip learning about animals that they have at cradle of life. The rooms are also clean, the room we got for the wedding party was quit big, very clean. The garden wedding was so beautiful and the staff was very helpful throughout the day. Would recommend for one to have their wedding here

Don’t waste time. Place is rundown. Museum has been dismantled. Animal farm is gone. What used to be beautiful is now brown. Ceilings are falling in. A bar with nothing inside. Not sure if I would venture food from the menu. Terribly sad loss to what used to be a wonderful place to stop and get fuel.
Fay T — Google review
Very good and affordable food, one of the ladies that deals with making bookings for the game drives can't properly understand and or assist you in English. Our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable about all the animals we found during the 2hour tour and we loved it.
Marcel N — Google review
We went on the safari. Best safari drive we've been in to date. About 90 minutes guided drive. We got to watch the feeding time. And thw guide gave us details about every animal we passed. Really worth the money......cheap compared to other game drives around the country.
Bibi G — Google review
Our chalet was not cleaned properly for our arrival. One bathroom had no water in the taps. Not enough plates and cutlery. It seemed like there had been no maintenance for a long time... things were run down.
Jonathan D — Google review
Beautiful place but the restaurant service is very poor, we were the only table in the whole place but had to go ask for service after they saw us and a waiter that was smoking outside told them there is a table outside. We ordered drinks and waffle, out of the two they only had one. Will not be seeing us again when we pass.
Donovan S — Google review
Housekeeping wasnt available to change a double bed to twins. Lots of cobwebs, dirty kitchen table and Showers were also very dirty. Otherwise the place is also very neat outside and well looked after. Very beautiful vistas!
Nico M — Google review
As a regular in this place i have seen a fast decline in service offered to the guest in the chalets. The manager of the lodge were to busy with her sun-downer to concern herself to assist me with a few problems. DSTV was not working, The electricity was switched off and had to ask them to switch it on. She did not even answer her cellphone . As an attraction for the wildlife and view is seems good just don't stay the night .

Although some people would to call it a Heritage Site... it's a pity that other people don't care!! The amount of bottles and rubbish strewn around, especially at the Green Stone view site, is a disaster! Could those people please stop and take their rubble home... OR PLEASE PUT IT IN ONE OF THE FIVE RUBBISH BINS! Please behave like a normal and educated human being, not as an animal!

There is just something about the Genesis Route.... I love driving up the mountains and stopping along the way to enjoy the magnificent views. The higher one drives the more they get to enjoy. Bring a cooler box, meat, snacks and whatever else you like and enjoy a braai with your loved ones.

Eureka! This Barberton Tour Was a Gold Mine of Adventure! Yesterday, Wynand from Dusty Tracks led us on an unforgettable journey back in time to Eureka City. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! His passion and knowledge of the area's history and landscape are unmatched. The stories were fascinating, and the scenery was simply breathtaking. This tour is not only informative but also thrilling and thoroughly enjoyable. If you're in Barberton, don't miss this incredible adventure.
Francois F — Google review
I knew it was going to be a good day when we arrived at their offices and spotted a Barberton daisy next to the sidewalk. Wynand is a great tour guide, very knowledgeable. Went above and beyond to make our experience 5-star. Note to self: gold panning is harder than it looks. Will recommend to everyone.
Jacques T — Google review
I just spent a day with Dusty Tracks on the mountains of Barberton followed by a tour of an old gold mine. What a day! What a mind blowing day. A snapshot of 150 year old history combined with a view of 3.6billion years of history. That such a place exits in South Africa is an enormous privilege. Wynand is both passionate and deeply knowledgeable of the area. I cannot recommend this enough. Bravo!
Ryan H — Google review
I could not have hoped for a better introduction to the magical mountains behind Barberton than provided by Wynand of Dusty Tracks. My interest in the area is an historical one and I learned a lot from Wynand about the early mining endeavours in the area, along with fascinating insights into the geology that gave the area it's huge and enduring mineral resources. From the history of early diggers and prospectors during Barberton's gold rush in the mid-1880s to the complex issues surrounding today's informal prospectors - the so-called zamazamas - and their fraught relationship with large-scale commercial mines, to the modern dynamics between the often-conflicting imperatives of mines and nature conservation, Wynand had both illuminating and amusing stories to tell and information to impart. Having the opportunity to experience a part of the extraordinarily beautiful natural environment in this region that is not generally accessible to the public made this an even more unforgettable experience for me, and an opportunity that I regard as a great privilege. Wynand went out of his way to accommodate my specific interests and I appreciated that - this was no canned, rushed package tour; we stopped and looked and explored often, and in a leisurely way. The Golden Quarry was a highlight; I'm still in awe of how that enormous cavern was excavated by men with little more than hammers and chisels. And the natural environment above the mines that honeycomb the mountains is some of the most spectacular I've seen anywhere - truly food for the soul. What a treat. Thank you, Wynand.

Barberton Museum offers a fascinating insight into the local history, culture, and geology. The museum features an impressive black-and-white photo display showcasing the town's evolution. Visitors interested in geology will find the museum to be a must-visit, with informative exhibits shedding light on rock formations and ongoing research in Barberton. The knowledgeable staff and optional Heritage Walk provide valuable context to the town's history, making it a worthwhile experience for those seeking to delve into its mystic charm.
Beautiful museum, knowledgeable staff, interesting exhibits showing many aspects of the town's history. The Heritage Walk is a must.
R. A — Google review
Barberton is named after the Barber brothers, but this museum has them as the Barberton brothers. There are bizarre displays all over the place, many not labelled. Cardboard cutouts showing hominin evolution? Possibly - but who knows? And what is the significance to Barberton? Stuffed birds in glass cases, not labelled, and down on the floor where one has to kneel to see them? What is going on? Is this museum seeking a cult status as the worst designed in the world? Not only that, but the several annexes (Stopforth House, Belhaven etc) will not let you in without a ticket from the main museum. There is no indication of this anywhere on the brochures issued by the museum. But when you ask for a ticket at the main museum, they direct you back to Stopforth House! School kids would do a better job of running this circus.

Interesting, but I expected more of way back stuff, when all started. Person who escorted me through "stone" section was very knowledgable.
Antoinette L — Google review
A modest little museum. Entrance is free. Three rooms of exhibits. Not terribly well curated in terms of telling a story, and some exhibits are unexplained. One room is dedicated to the anti-apartheid struggle, and comprises only posters of the key individuals with a description of their role. Another room is more or less about the history of Barberton and the mining. The main room is a mix of geological and anthropological exhibits.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Matsamo Cultural Village, where locals showcase traditional Swazi dances and share captivating stories about their tribe's legends. A tour of the homestead provides valuable insights into Swati traditions, family structure, and culture. The community's exceptional talents shine through their pitch-perfect performances of dance and song. This hidden gem on the South African border offers an authentic and moving experience, complete with warm hospitality and delicious local cuisine.
We really enjoyed watching the performers having fun, you could tell they loved what they were doing.

Warm welcome and quality of dances and songs.
Didier D — Google review
Wonderful visit to Matsamo Cultural Village near the border of Eswatini. Swazi culture is explained and celebrated at this traditional village. The tour started with a song and dance performance. The vocal harmonies will give you goosebumps and their voices are so powerful - no microphones needed here! A small group of us got a special encore performance of Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika the South African national anthem after other groups had left. We were then shown inside the main hut - where the village grandmother lives who is the matriarch of the community. We were then served a delicious buffet lunch with an array of hot foods in clay pots and an extensive salad bar. The condiments bar was next level (see photo!) Special praise to the lovely chef who came out to talk to me when I asked how the spaghetti dish with beans was made (it was the best). Dessert was banoffee pie with ice cream - also delicious. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Unsure of cost as it was included in trip.

[reposting my review from November 2018] Nice way to learn about culture, fantastic singing and dancing skills, although more attention could be paid to cleanliness of the show area and sitting logs.

Great place to witness the Swati culture and history. Exciting performances and delicious Swati cuisines, located between the border of South Africa and Kingdom of eSwatini.

Wow wow wow! Visiting Matsamo Cultural Village is an absolute treat for the senses. Starting off with a tour of the homestead, you’ll be given thorough insight into Swati traditions, culture and family structure. We had an amazing guide, called Lindiwe who had us hanging on her lips. The highlight of the experience is unfoubtedly the dancing and singing at the end. Do not underestimate this community’s talents. They are artists of the highest order offering pitch perfect performances!

We had some problems with the booking and only when arriving released there booking webpage doesn't work, but the staff did everything to help us out whith getting alternative accommodation for the one night and get new bookings for the other nights. Everyone was very friendly and eager to help, making the stay at malolotha a treat. The cabins self although showing wear and tear was comfortable with wonderful views. Just note that if you are a big group, maybe bring extra dishes as some at the cabins are broken out.
Marieke P — Google review
Amazing potential, but needs work! Scenery is stunning, loads of wildlife. But, cabins are tired, desperate need of renovating. Trails are close to un-walkable, so overgrown in places and again no maintenance. We ended up just walking the roads... Which was still beautiful. Probably more worth a day visit, than a stay over. Will find cheaper and better accommodation near by.
Gareth O — Google review
The cabins were clean but basic and the staff could have been more helpful recommending hiking routes
Cleo O — Google review
We had a few geckos in the room that could of classified as iguanas. Nevertheless, that didn't make it so unpleasant but what did was the all the fire wood was wet. Even the extra wood we went to go fetch at the gate. Being the middle of winter and so desperate to get warm, we ended up smoking out our cabin. We also arrived very late at night and really struggled to find out cabin due to bad signage, a simple fix that would make the experience so much more enjoyable. But even with all of this drama I'd give them a second try due to the friendly service and incredible canopy tour.

Lion Cavern Ngwenya

Mentioned on

Sights & Landmarks
Mines
Nestled near the Ngwenya border post, Lion Cavern is celebrated as the oldest mine in the world, with a rich history dating back to between 41,000 and 36,000 BCE when red oxides were mined for body painting. While you might expect a traditional mining site, what awaits you is an astonishing panorama that will leave you speechless.
Wonderful place! Not a very difficult walk up to get to the cavern. Honestly one of the most beautiful views I’ve seen in the country. Great history to learn about as well. Not crowded. R70 for internationals and R50 for locals as an entrance fee.
Lindie B — Google review
The cave is probably very old, but also tiny. It wouldn't be worth the 70 zar visit on its own. But the lake is beautiful and the views of the surrounding countryside during the hike to the cave are amazing. It's about a 15-minute walk up a gentle hill.
Milos B — Google review
Breathtaking views as far as the eyes can see. Definitely worth the drive up
Humphrey S — Google review
Awesome being able to see the oldest mine In the world!
Thomas H — Google review
I walked up there all alone and suddenly I was standing in an ancient cavern on the top of a steep rock, where Sapiens tens of thousand of years ago excavated red ochre for beauty, sun protection, ceremonies and cave paintings. It’s a small cavern. It’s not at all spectacular. But the height, the abyss, the lonesomeness combined with the fact that our species used this mine to advance its culture more than 40.000 years ago gives you a feeling much more profound than taking selfies in front of the pseudo-romantic Taj Mahal.
Tabisso — Google review
Breath taking views of Swazi mountains from here.

This is a pearl when you think about a view. We where expecting a mine of some sort as the signs says there is but there is not much left. Instead you will get blown away by an incredible view! If you have a car which can stand a bit if rough terrain you have to get up here!

Ngwenya Glass in Eswatini is a captivating destination for anyone who appreciates the beauty of handcrafted art. This glass factory specializes in creating stunning pieces from recycled materials, including drinking glasses, vases, and unique ornamental figures. While prices may be on the higher side, each item reflects the skill and dedication of local artisans, making them well worth the investment. Visitors can enjoy watching skilled craftsmen at work while exploring various shops that offer everything from coffee to chocolate.
Beautiful place, well worth visiting. There is more to buy here other than just glass, although that was the most impressive aspect. I really enjoyed watching the glass blowers from the elevated walkway above the factory floor. What an interesting craft!
Noah V — Google review
We didn’t get to see the factory in action but were able to visit most of the antique stores. Lots souvenirs to buy and take home. Abit pricey for someone from across the border but it’s to be expected since it’s a tourist place. Restaurant was okay. Could use some new furniture and abit more decoration. Overall, experience was great. If you want to see the glass factory in action, make sure to come during the week (Mon - Fri)
Tawanda M — Google review
Ngwenya Glass Factory and shop is a tourist stop in Eswatini. You walk through a cafe to the factory floor where you are on an elevated steel walkway above the workers and furnaces below. Yes it is hot in here and quiet noisy! There is no guide or explaination but you can work a lot of it out by watching. It would be great if there was a short video explaining the process before you entered. The connecting gift shop has beautiful glassware all at incredibly reasonable prices. Although I personally didnt buy anything as I have no room in my luggage, the shop was very nicely presented.
Timeshare C — Google review
Our visit to the glass factory was fairly well rewarded - the ornate recycled glass figures, drinking glasses and glass decorations were a sight to behold. Although prices were somewhat high, I suppose the fact that its recycled and a tourist attraction explains that. We purchased 2 ornate drinking glasses and asked for additional engraving at an additional fee - this took about 50 minutes to complete, but we are very happy with the purchase. Being able to walk over the factory craft area and experience the heat and conditions was very interesting! It was cool to see how some of the shop structural items and decorations were also inspired by the use of glass - see my photos uploaded. The other shops on the premises are interesting enough, but not particularly impressive, except for some small items like some of the shops sell laminated paper jewellery, there is a pewter/silver craftsman store on the premises and a chocolate maker, although the chocolate isn't something to write home about. The restaurant was unfortunately mediocre and uninspiring. They could definitely improve on that aspect. Also a cat sleeping in a basket - automatic 5 stars. Also several peacock's on a balustrade.
Dirk L — Google review
Recycled glass into art. I came to Eswatini from South Africa and saw these glass products. To me, they are not special, but they are quite exquisite. In the glass factory area, there are several shops, a small green lawn for kids to run around, and a place to eat.
SOFIA C — Google review
It was wonderful to be able to view the glass blowers from the elevated gallery. Particularly nice was the way they interacted with you, holding up their finished pieces to be admired. Could really feel their pride. Nice shop Definitely worth a visit, lovely grounds and a nice cafe, glass shop too, of course. Other artisan shops on site.
Georgina K — Google review
The online shop is brilliant. They pack meticulously with 100%recycled packaging and my beautiful glasses arrived in perfect condition. The glasses themselves have a unique handmade look with subtle imperfections that makes each glass unique.
Gareth F — Google review
We visited Ngwenya Glass a few days ago and were very impressed. We had toasted sandwiches which were delicious, the viewing deck is amazing and obviously the glass products were just as beautiful. Thank you so much, your staff are lovely. Will definitely be taking advantage of your online store!

Sibebe Rock Spur Eswatini

$$$$affordable
Family restaurant
Restaurant chain with a family-friendly vibe, dishing up steaks, burgers, ribs & wings.
The food is very nice, you should try it
Sakhiwo S — Google review
I have been there multiple times, a lovely atmosphere with a lovely ambience. The staff are super friendly and there is a dedicated smoking area. It is, however, a bit difficult to get service at the time that you want/need it when you are seated on the upper level, even though it offers great views. I would recommend that they have some sort of calling system for the waiters for the upper level. The restrooms are kept in a clean condition.
Banele M — Google review
I have visited this restaurant three times, hoping for improvement, but each visit has been consistently disappointing. On my first visit, the salad was mediocre at best. It lacked flavor and was surrounded by what seemed like off-brand tortilla chips. The second visit was even more disappointing. I ordered a steak, which was not only incredibly tough but also smothered in an overly sweet barbecue sauce that didn't complement it at all. My third and final visit sealed my decision not to return. I ordered a cheeseburger, which was one of the most unappetizing burgers I've ever seen. It consisted of a few meager strands of lettuce, a sad-looking tomato slice, and a few slices of onion. The only sauce was a strange mixture that tasted like a combination of mayonnaise and ketchup. On the positive side, the service was good, the restaurant has its own bathroom, and Wi-fi is available which is a plus here.
Ana W — Google review
The place is pretty with comfortable seating, spacious and aligned to the spur brand. Located in the food court of the Corporate Place within the Swazi Plaza. There is the option to sit outside or inside and inside has option of downstairs or upstairs. The children’s play area is very small, it’s located on the upstairs seating area. Downstairs has charging points if want to bring laptop and work from here. Unfortunately the service is terrible. Our waitress Ayanda would disappear for ages, luckily the waitress for the table behind us realized we were getting poor service and stepped in after we had waited too long. Our waitress brought one place may at the table and when asked about one for the others she said, the place mats were washed today and are out to dry so none are available. The food served was very oily and not usual Spur standard. No WiFi was offered apparently it doesn’t work. There is paid parking available. The top level of Swazi Plaza parking is closest to Spur. It’s not an easy parking lot to navigate though. Spur is also close and accessible if you park at the mall uncovered parking and walk across.
Miliswa M — Google review
The quarter chicken I ordered arrived burnt, and there was no apology from the staff. The lack of acknowledgment for the mistake was disappointing. Overall, the experience left much to be desired.
Gugu N — Google review
The food was better today; however, I kindly ask that you refrain from putting BBQ sauce on every dish. It pairs well with the ribs and chicken, but a lighter touch would be appreciated for other items. The service was amazing, thanks to Sandile.
Naomi — Google review
This restaurant has the best food in the world if you are a dog. Very dissapointed in the taste
Ian N — Google review
I hadn't had Spur in many years and this place didn't disappoint. The ribs were as good as I remembered and the atmosphere still great. Our server was so delightful and made the experience great. Would definitely return.

Wonderful place. A little dated but the people and food were excellent. Beautifully kept gardens and pool area and golf was truly an a first class course. Loved Swaziland.

Great venue with excellent surrounding views. Beautiful facilities and just a great place to stay. The rooms are dated but super clean.

5 hours from Gauteng including border control. Stunning setting with views and landscapes that are endless. Sports facilities are good. Staff are very friendly but slow. Great breakfasts. Full Casino. Large rooms with a/c and balcony. Secure parking area. Large Swimming pool and bar outdoors. Beautiful garden. Spa area.

Great stay, rooms were spacious, comfortable and the sleep was great. The food is fresh and super tastey. The pool area is amazing , youd want to spend all day there.

I can see myself going there again! Very nice and clean. Bathrooms are a little bit dated, but you're going there for the view, not the bathroom.

Very nice property with a spa and a golf course. Located on a large property with a 2nd hotel, Logogo Sun, not as nice. The Terrace restaurant has a very good buffet for dinner with a huge selection.
Richard S — Google review
We found staff friendly and helpful, the hotel is well situated and would suit golfers especially. The outside seating is pleasant to enjoy meals in the shade of a large tree. Two restaurants inside, two shops, a special tourist desk, banking and internet facilites, and a casino makes this an all in one hotel from which to explore the area. At the entrance there is an additional chance to buy colourful traditional Swazi printed cloths and clothing.

The friendly reception staff ensures a warm welcome, while spacious rooms provide comfort with stunning views of the pool from private balconies. Each stay includes complimentary tea and coffee along with an impressive breakfast buffet featuring diverse options to kickstart your day.
Great hotel, situated in ezulwini. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was the best value for money in Ezulwini, without a doubt. Our room was spacious and sparkly clean, with a balcony that opened out to a view of the pool. There was tea and coffee and a fantastic breakfast in the morning, all included in the rate. The breakfast buffet had a large variety of options to indulge in. There were cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, sausages, chicken, fish, veggies, omlettes, breads and cakes. The waiters and waitresses were friendly and ready to assist. I personally loved the vegetarian pizza available from the bar. Our stay here was well enjoyed and we will surely visit again soon.

Was an overall good stay... excellent service by the staff. It's not a place for ' fault finders ', reason being, it is an old hotel, certain stuff need to be over looked. Needs an upgrade, not that I am finding faults, concerned because of the new five star hotel and convention centre being constructed 500m away... I would recommend Lugogo Sun as a good place to stay. Was an awesome visit to Swaziland.

Stayed here overnight en route to a safari. The accommodations were very nice, staff was pleasant and helpful. Did not make use of the spa or the gold course as we were tired from our travels. I did not see a gym on premises, would be nice if they had one. Will definitely stay here again.
George S — Google review
The hotel was a typical 3* nothing special but OK for one night stay in October 2019. Rooms were spacious & clean & good air-con. The food was OK & the stir fry station was very popular but apart from that mediocre food. The bar next to the restaurant was dimly lit & very noisy.
Paul A — Google review
Reasonable hotel with nice facilities. Slightly age furnishing and dated slow elevator and noisy toilets. Other than that the hotel boasts fantastic restaurant with varied buffet breakfast. It can be annoyingly packed in the morning, so rather get up early for breakfast if you have a busy day.
Denb B — Google review
Hi, it's a nice enough hotel, but very old and not recently renovated, but very clean. The food is okay but very expensive and overcooked to be honest. When we got there they put us in smoking rooms, when we'd requested non smoking, but they did sort us out when we complained about the smell. There was some renovations going on, but no safety signs or warnings. The WiFi is cumbersome to connect and they only give 150MB free per day. They don't allow food from outside on the premises. There's no gym but a nice swimming pool. 2 stars for cleanliness!
Lerato S — Google review
Enjoyable, the service was lovely at the reception. The bar drove me nuts though when they took morethan 35 minutes to prepare our drinks. But after complaining the next day w3 managed to get our drink on time. Overall the service was beautiful. The ladies at reception and guy were very friendly. Jabu, Zama, Lucky and another one forgot her name.

Mantenga Cultural Village, located in the Ezulwini Valley within the Mantenga Nature Reserve, offers an immersive experience into Swazi history and traditions. The village features authentic beehive huts and serves as a replica village designed to educate visitors about Swazi culture. Visitors can enjoy traditional dances and songs performed by passionate locals, providing insight into genuine Swazi customs.
There are ethnic dance shows held twice a day. The content was very wonderful and I was impressed! Their singing voice was really great. The movement of the body was also amazing. After that, I was shown the traditional village. Not only did I see it, but I was able to listen to the old traditions and customs in detail, which was very instructive. I thought it had a lot of potential as a tourist destination. The entrance fee was R150 per person, but it felt very cheap.

Mantenga Nature Reserve is a beautiful cultural center that offers a rich insight into the history of the Eswatini people. As a South African visiting Swaziland, I found the experience highly informative and engaging. The tour guide was eloquent, humble, and passionate about sharing their knowledge. The highlight of our visit was the traditional dance performance, which truly epitomized the cultural essence of the region and made our experience unforgettable.

The village and the performance were quite nice. Nice waterfall. The restaurant - The beef steak was absolutely terrible - hard as a shoe sole. Spaghetti and fish were quite ok. Nice service. It took a little longer - about 50 minutes with a practically empty restaurant.

Had a really positive experience from start to finish. Elaine in the office was brilliant booking my rafting trip and the guides for the day were excellent. Would highly recommend this company. Thank you for a greasy day out.

We did the rafting with them and it was perfect all the organization, information and the service. The rafting itself it super funny and good, and the guides well experienced and we got a good briefing of all the activity. Worth it 2000%!

This was a great trip! The guides were extremely professional and provided a very detailed safety talk before we got into the two-person rafts for the trip. Throughout the trip they were very attentive and made sure that every member of my family was not only safe, but was having a good time! I've been a part-time Whitewater rafting guide in the United States for 28 years so it's easy for me to spot when people really know what they're doing or when they don't. This is a quality organization through and through and I would highly recommend any of their activities. In addition to all this, they provided us with wonderful assistance about other aspects of our time in Eswatini and generally went over and above with their customer service.

We did a rafting tour with Swazi trails and had the best time. We were a group of 8 people and starting from the front desk to the actual rafting everything went smoothly. The guides are super knowledgeable about the rivers including the wildlife that can be found there. Without asking or charging extra we event got some pretty amazing Fotos from the day. Would totally recommend.

We booked the adventoures caving tour with swazi trails. Mseni was a super responsible guide who introduced us to the flora and traditions of eSwatini on the way to the cave. Thank you Swasi tours for the highlight of out trip to eSwatini. We were a group of 8 and did the full day rafting. We all absolutely loved the day, not just for the level of adrenaline but also for the stunning scenery around the beautiful Komati river. Elaine was super helpful in organizing the trip, and our crew made us feel safe at all times - whether it was navigating the river or driving up washed out roads on our way back from the valley.

Breath taking!!! Got so see all the animals from the entrance to reception. Camps sites under huge trees lots of shade. Clean ablutions facilities. Electricity available at camp sites. Braai was not cleaned but that is only possible thing that was wrong. You see the most amazing landscape scenes just outside of a town. Animals is not bothered with you driving past and taking a picture

Peaceful, beautiful spot with animals (nyala, impala, wildebeest, etc) wandering through camp. Scenic views, tranquil lakes and you can hike or bike anywhere - no predators and no fences. They have a restaurant and bar, a bit of WiFi and a big campfire. We stayed an extra day. Highly recommend!

A wonderful get away, especially if you want to do some hiking or mountain biking with lots of wildlife on the trail self. The trails are very well maintained and clearly marked. The one main downside was there were some guests which was load and partied till late at night.
Marieke P — Google review
I was with an organised travel group here and we stayed for three nights. It was my first experience of staying on a game Park and I love the natural woven structure dwellings and a simplicity. Everything was easy to access and I felt very comfortable a couple of downsides were late noise from other camps I'd love there to be strict to curfews about noise near the dwellings. The staff were all extremely accommodating very friendly as were the guides - I had a very positive experience here on top of that we did see lots of wildlife and it was pretty safe to walk around the local grounds as they don't have many of the big predators

We only stayed for one night, but we really enjoyed our stay. The huts were very comfortable. Cool during the day and cozy at night. Also very clean and hygienic. The staff is very friendly. We really enjoyed them doing their cultural dance before dinner time. Food was quite good given that it is buffet style. The park itself is beautiful, and there were lots of animals roaming the camp ground. There’s plenty choice of activities.

The warthogs break into my tent with his sharp tasks, teared my tent into pieces. I put my foods in the tent , that is why the warthogs attacked. This is Simon new trekking tent, 190€ bought from dethcolon fr .The manager asked me why you did not bring a strong tent which can resist the tasks of warthogs.? She asked me to sleep at backpacker hostel and pay the fee, after I complained , she finally agree for free charge at backpacker hostel. At park entrance I have already paid 3nights camping fee. I think this park has serious issue on management.

We spent 2 nights there, it was such a great experience! There is lot of tarmac roads on which you can drive all day long and watch animals

Milwane is a beautiful place to visit!! Hiking Execution Rock has been on my bucket list for 15 years. It was more spectacular than I imagined! Hippo Trail also offered beautiful views and close encounters with zebra, wildebeest and other wildlife. We did both bikes one after another, and had very mild temps, all clouds and no sun. I highly recommend packing plenty of water and a small snack to refuel you while you enjoy breathtaking views!

Yes, MTN Bushfire Festival is indeed one of the famous music festivals in Africa! It was selected by CNN as one of the "7 African Music Festivals You Absolutely Can't Miss". Held annually in Eswatini, the festival features diverse culture, music, art and social dialogue, attracting participants from more than 60 countries around the world. The festival venue is at "House on Fire", a very creative and whimsical performance and art space. It looks like a dreamy little village that integrates cultural symbols from all over the world, and the atmosphere on site is very special. If you happen to come during the event period (usually at the end of May every year), it will be a better experience💕But now is not the event period, House on Fire itself can also be visited as an architectural and cultural art space, but it is not so lively😆

Swazi Candles is a favorite stop every summer! There are wonderful shops and open market vendors. The restaurant serves delicious food and the service is great! The salads are excellent, but my favorites are the samosas and the banana & chocolate spring roll. So delicious!
Suzanne D — Google review
Swazi Candles is one of the most inspiring artistic destinations in Eswatini, located in the heart of the beautiful Malkerns Valley. More than just a candle shop, it’s a creative space where craftsmanship, culture, and imagination come alive right before your eyes. What makes the experience exceptional is being able to watch talented artisans at work, transforming raw wax into vibrant pieces of art. During my visit, I met a remarkably gifted young man who shared how the wax he uses is actually a byproduct from industrial oil processing — similar to what comes out when companies like Sasol refine oil. Instead of letting it go to waste, he converts it into beautiful sculpted creations. One piece in particular caught my attention: a stunning rhino wax sculpture, crafted with precision and passion. The level of detail and creativity was something truly impressive. Swazi Candles offers a wide variety of candle designs — from colourful patterned blocks and decorative pillars to beautifully moulded animal shapes like elephants, lions, and rhinos. Each piece feels unique, full of character and cultural identity. Whether you’re buying décor for your home, looking for a meaningful gift, or just appreciating art, there’s something for everyone. ✨ Highlights • Artistic and handmade pieces with deep cultural expression • Live demonstration of candle-making and sculpting • Unique designs and bold colours that stand out • Inspiring creativity from local artisans • Perfect stop for tourists, collectors, and décor enthusiasts 📍 Final Verdict Swazi Candles is a celebration of art, talent, and innovation. It’s amazing to see how something as simple as wax can be transformed into powerful visual storytelling. If you’re visiting Eswatini, make this a definite stop — you’ll leave inspired and impressed. Highly recommended. 🌿🇸🇿

SOFIA C — Google review
Lovely, informative, very touristy, destination. There is a lovely informal market where one can buy souvenirs. The food at the restaurant was fairly good and not overly priced. The candle shop is very unique, you can watch the staff make them.

Swazi candles have the most beautiful candles I have ever seen. Infused in African crafts. They speak and scream African 🌍 which is something especially to someone who loves and is proud of her African heritage . It is a great place to buy yourself and your loved ones African souvenirs. Other than the candles, candles holders and everything related to candles the Swazi candles is stocked with different varieties of authentic soaps made from natural resources and in different things such as stress, relaxation etc. Not only are they authentic they smell so good (double as an air freshener). Ohh before I forget in Swazi candles you are allowed to watch as they make the candles and even participate in the making if you are up to it. I had an amazing time making an elephant shaped candle. Outside Swazi candles there are these beautiful African crafts stands in Kenya we call them Maasai market you will be spoilt for choice with all the amazing crafts that are on display from beadworks to paints to kangas etc etc. when visiting Eswatini you can't afford not to pass by Swazi candles and make sure you have good money with you to avoid heart pains of leaving some items.

Hlane Royal National Park in Swaziland is a vast and protected haven for wildlife enthusiasts, offering an incredible opportunity to observe elephants, rhinos, and a variety of other majestic animals up close. Visitors can enjoy the unique experience of staying overnight in charming Rondavels while soaking in breathtaking sunsets over tranquil water ponds where wildlife gathers to drink. The park boasts knowledgeable guides who lead engaging game drives and bushwalks, ensuring that every moment spent here is both educational and thrilling.
If you want a relaxed, slowed down safari experience, this is the place. Could sit the whole day at one of the two lakes and have never seen so many rhinos so close before. Self drive can be done but only on a limited amount of the roads.
Marieke P — Google review
As we didn't get to see any rhinos in Kruger national park, we visited this place, saw a few rhinos with their horns intact. We drove around in our own car. It was well worth the time we spend driving to this place and the entrance fee. We had initially planned to take the rhino tour, but that didn't pan out as our waze navigator took us around 45 mins in the other direction.
Thomas J — Google review
We really enjoyed our stay here. The twin room was SO CUTE and very comfortable. We enjoyed having the gas lanterns, it really made the stay romantic and cozy. There is very good wifi on the patio of the restaurant which was a nice surprise. You get 1G per day. The rhino drive was excellent and the highlight of our trip. Just note you cannot see the lions and elephants unless you do a regular game drive, but they are very reasonably priced and come with 2 drinks. The staff were extremely helpful and you could tell how much they cared for the park and its animals. Note that they bring you a thermos of hot water for tea and coffee in the room each afternoon. It stays VERY hot. A huge group had booked the rhino drive the day we had hoped to do it so book what you need in advance by emailing them. I wish it was more clear how to book game drives in advance. Dinner was a buffet which is not our preference because it’s typically expensive. We would have appreciated having a smaller selection like one meat with a side from the buffet for a lower price for people who eat less. We’ve experienced this at other properties and it’s served by staff. The breakfast buffet was good but unless you arrived when it opened, it wasn’t always hot. Especially the pancakes.
Erin G — Google review
We stayed at Bhubesi camp and not the the main Ndlovu camp by choice as it was February and we wanted electricity for fans. We also like to self cater. It was a 4-sleeper unit with sturdy practical furniture. Mosquito net and fans which we needed. Kitchen had basic supplies and there was a large dining table and comfy sofas. The braai area, as well as the beautiful stone unit were situated in a shady section. The camp was about a half an hour drive from the main camp which had WiFi, a restaurant/bar and a large waterhole which was a hit with the animals. We think the Rhino's lived there permanently... There were so many to watch! With 4 of the big 5 it's worth a game drive, guided walk or even Rhino walking safari. Self drives are also an option and day trippers pay only R90pp. There is a picnic site and bird hide

Beautiful park and very affordable activities. Lots of wildlife in a small area. The waterhole is perfect to watch lots of different games. Really enjoyed my stay here

I loved the accommodation the round circular hurts with Windows. I could've stayed longer. It was a really lovely walk along the front of the restaurant where you meet us away from rhinos giraffes hippos. We also took several Safari rides which neighboured us to get up close to groups of elephants, lions and giraffes. Staff are very lovely. It's a similar set up to the other game parks as that all part of the same group whereby the meals are pretty similar and some of the scripts that the guides use are pretty similar, we had a really lovely time and it was a pleasure to be there.

Definitely a Best place to spot rhinos closed up, standard facilities to cover all your needs while visiting, if you're nature lover, bird lover, safari lover just ho there. No regrets.

Mkuze Falls Game Lodge is a luxurious all-inclusive accommodation nestled near Pongola in northern Natal, offering an authentic game reserve experience with the opportunity to spot the big 5. The lodge is operated by knowledgeable locals who provide exceptional hospitality and insightful game drives that allow guests to get up close and personal with lions, buffalos, rhinos, elephants, and more. The lodge offers superb accommodations with plunge pools and scenic views of Mkuze Falls.
Beautiful lodge with stunning view of Mkuze falls. Great game viewing in own concession as well as neighboring game lodge. Beautiful lion sighting as well as encountering an elephant road block on the way back to the lodge. Lovely boma dinner with Zulu dancers was a highlight.

Went here 5 years ago and was blown away, it was my first safari and there’s not a day since that I haven’t thought about that stay. Stayed recently and was quite disappointed. Swimming Pool was empty, plunge pool was dirty , toilet struggled to flush on occasion and bathroom smelt of urine, and it seems the place had let itself go. The game drive was okay however only one driver and no spotter. The shop had barely anything in it just disappointing.

What an AMAZING place this is. We were treated like royalty from arrival to departure. I would like to give a special thanks to Vusi, who was our game ranger. He went to great lengths to make every game drive worth every minute. Vusi thank you so much for being our game ranger and for making this a memorable treat. 10 or of 10 for you.

What a truly wonderful experience. The staff and accommodation were fantastic and catered to our every need. Game drives were awesome and we were fortunate to tick off the Big 5 over our 3 night stay. It was a wonderful family getaway and we will all be back.
Carol B — Google review
There was good and bad. The rooms are very dated but are spacious and 2 nicely laid out mattresses for a family of 4 without it being cramped. Lovely balcony overlooking the falls and stunning view. The bathroom was very dirty with residue of dirt lying on the toilet, bath, basins, handwash dispenser and a decorative cup with the same dead bugs in it throughout our stay. On our first morning, my daughter forgot her toothbrush in the bathroom. The cleaner put her toothbrush head down into the cup full of dead bugs. The same dirt on the basins from previous guests was visible throughout our stay. Nothing was done either after complaining. The bathroom has a very old bath, toilet and basins inside, offering a lovely shower and plunge pool outside. Lots of fun during the day, however not ideal in the wilderness for everyone if you prefer to take a night shower, rather than bath, after your game drive as you might not know what encounter you might have especially without a light by the shower itself. They need to at least consider an addition of a shower to the bathtub inside. The ice bucket was also very dirty in the room. The breakfast was fair but you feel very rushed to finish as the waitress is impatient if you take your time. She gave me the impression that she wants you done within 40 min. They don't cater with enough food for all the guests at breakfast so if you choose to shower after your game drive before breakfast, I'm afraid you won't find the entire spread. The game ranger was quite rude and arrogant on arrival but warmed up a bit thereafter. The game tracker was extremely pleasant. The game drives are outstanding in that you get very close unbelievable encounters with the animals - very worth it. The ranger's knowledge was reasonable but nothing out of the ordinary without attention to details of smaller insects and animals, which we experienced on other game drives elsewhere. The ranger and tracker seem to enjoy more social time on the drives rather than attention to guests. The high teas and dinners were very good. However, service for dinner is slow with only 2 waiters for all the guests, sometimes forgetting to bring some items. I noticed a lot of chipped and mismatched crockery as well despite it being a 5 star lodge. The biggest disappointment was the non compliance with mandatory Government Covid 19 Regulations. The receptionist and cleaning/porter staff greet you with a mask and sanitiser on arrival and that was it. They don't wear their masks at other times. Only one waiter had his mask on and that too, not always. The rest of the staff do not wear masks and do not enforce mask wearing by guests either in public areas and on game drives. Use of sanitiser is also not mandatory although available outside the bar and restaurant should you require. Excellent in that they change towels twice a day and supply more than sufficient toiletries. Poor catering for vegetarians on game drives even where they know you're the only ones viewing despite information about dietary requirements! Overall a fair experience.
Prashika N — Google review
The lodge is badly managed but staff did their best and was friendly. The following problems was raised during our stay - Our private splash pool pump was broken (they did not fix this) and the pool was not cleaned or refilled with water daily, the geyser made a noise (they did not fix this), their ice machine was broken so on various occasions there was no ice, the public pool was green, they did not cater to my dietary needs which was specified and only started accommodating me when I complained. We were there end December and the day after the president announced the no alcohol in public areas we were the only two people at the lodge, we asked the manager if we can bring our own wine (their bar was closed obviously) and have our dinner on their deck seeing as were the only people at the lodge and the manager said no (just another unaccommodating example of the manager which was ridiculous!!) There was some good - the dinner sizes was generous & delicious even though we had to have dinners in our room each night because we weren't allowed to take our own wine to their restaurant.

A hidden gem near Pongola, northern Natal, offering the big 5. This is a real deal game reserve operated by locals who are amazing hosts, knowledgeable, lived in the area for many years and have extensive local knowledge. Game drives are super informative, going off-road is exciting and rewarding as they explore and find lion, buffalo, rhino, elephant and more. You will get up close and personal to the big 5. The accomn is superb, food is 5 star wonderful range and quality. This is a hidden gem, and the community are invested so they really keep it real. Wonderful game park.

What an awesome weekend! Accomodation was great, food was great and the game drives were unreal. Norman got us super close to just about all the animals there. Only thing we didn't see was leopard but, they are always difficult to find.

Visitors rave about their unforgettable experiences at Bayete Zulu Homestead.
Truly the most incredible experience!!! Jordan was my game driver and worked tirelessly to ensure we saw the best of the animals whilst providing an incredible experience. He went above and beyond to answer every question I had whilst constantly on the lookout for the next best thing to see! We saw an abundance of Game including over ten lions, white rhinos, a black rhino and so many more! My favourite being the herd of elephants we got incredibly close to and saw a baby elephant taking a stretch, a roll on the floor before heading back to be closer to the herd! Just incredible. The room was brilliant and well above the standard expected - the food was incredible too! Both Breakfast and Dinner well exceeded expectations. I couldn’t recommend BayeteZulu Lodges enough! Thanks Jordan and the team at the lodge!!

What an amazing time we had! Thank you to Bandile our ranger for being so informative and friendly, and to the rest of the team at Bayete - Thank you! The rooms were comfortable and the service was great. The elephant interaction experience was incredible, definitely a bucket list check! We will be back hopefully again soon.

We had a trip of a lifetime staying at Bayete in their Homestead Lodge. We were visiting for a wedding at a nearby lodge and the team at Bayete went over and above to help ensure we could get maximum time safari-ing as well as partying! The rangers were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and made our trip incredibly special. We saw many amazing animals - the highlight was the cheetah with a recent kill right by our lodge - and the spot is incredible for the diversity of species and habitats. The lodge itself is superb, food was fantastic and the views, including countless animals that roamed around the lodge, we're unmatched. We'll be recommending to all of our friends and hope to visit again.

We stayed at little Bayete The self-catering option was a grate option We did have an incident with my wife slipping and she fell between the kitchen and the wooden fence entrance. The staff were very helpful. We did not see any managers or even get a call. She went for x-ray and did fracture her leg.
Dean S — Google review
From the moment we stepped out of our vehicles, our animal sightings were incredible. The Bayete Zulu lodge is upmarket, but very comfortable and child friendly. The rangers and lodge staff are helpful, friendly and unobtrusive. We will definitely return to this reserve very soon.

The actual venue is perfection. We had an issue with a guide which soured the trip a bit because he was rather arrogant and did not have a pleasant attitude. Cannot remember his name, short thin boy. Name was something with a P or F. White name. UPDATE Husband informed me the guides name was Pal

The Zulu Croc animal park offers a captivating experience with its collection of reptiles. Visitors can enjoy observing these well-cared-for crocs up close, experiencing a mix of fear and admiration. The park boasts a clean and well-maintained environment that provides a lovely setting for an informative visit. While the restaurant service may be slow, it is clearly stated that this is to be expected.
I was not expecting much but I was very impressed. It's clean and well managed. Everything is purpose built and it must have cost a fortune. The entrance fee was very reasonable. Great coffee shop and restaurant. Lot's of things for the children to do . Definitely worth another visit

We eventually visited this business after many of times of passing it on our travels to the coast. I would definitely recommend this place for any nature lover or enthusiast. Place and amenities are well designed, food and the menu was excellent and personal were very friendly. Animals were well looked after and many firsts were experienced when referring to the snakes. This should be a definite stop if you are in the area.

We had such a wonderful time at Zulu Croc Hluhluwe! The reptiles are very impressive and clearly well looked after. The Rafiki Restaurant was also a real treat – the steaks were delicious and tasteful, paired with a crispy, fresh salad. Of course, our server Ntunthu was kind, attentive, and quick with our order, which made the experience even better. Thank you, Zulu Croc, for a truly great experience! Werner & Tisha

It was an interesting place. It was quite intimidating to see this many snakes and spiders in an enclosure. I hope management will make it a priority to upgrade the enclosure by introducing natural features of a landscape, and clean water is regularly provided to the critters. The sizes of the crocodiles were impressive.
MervelienM — Google review
A very cool venue with very cool reptiles and arachnids. Slightly disappointed that there were no guides to take us around. Did a self walk.

Wonderful place loved how that the animals well taken care of. Loved that we were able to feed the goats and fishes. We where also able to feel the tortoise . The animals were all nice and fat (well fed) and it has come to my concern that one of the snake habitat was a bit open. The scary part is that it was the biggest snakes habitat. Overall hidden gem

It was fantastic!! We had a quick stop and some drinks on our way to Sodwana. Our waiters was a star!! Really great sense of humor to go along with food that looked really tasty when delivered to other patrons. The facilities are very nice and clean and next time we'll spend more time. A place I'll recommend to travellers in this region.

I drove to this place for breakfast and it was fabulous. Their food was fresh and nice. Whilst waiting for my order, there is a shop where you can walk to and in the shop are a variety of African traditional products. Again, you will Al's have access to sneak into their museum which is also packed with lots of historic items. On that note, you will also have an opportunity to buy ihawu and other must have items for a man and also for women

Great experince. The food was amazing and staff all friendly and exceptionally helpful. Loved all the wild birds and friendly pets that are on the property. Also checked out the nursery next door that has alot of indigenous plants and the craft brewery that has so much to offer. The only downside was the ladies bathroom that could use some TLC regarding maintenance and cleaning.

Nature & Parks
Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park, also known as Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, is the oldest game park in Africa and spans over 96,000 hectares. It is renowned for its conservation efforts for both black and white rhinos. The park offers a chance to see the 'big five' animals - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino.
What an unforgettable trip to Hluhluwe Game Reserve! The staff's hospitality and genuine kindness were exceptional from the moment we arrived. Every member of the team was friendly, generous, and happy to help. Our chalet was comfortable and fully equipped, but it was the game drives that truly stole the show. We were so fortunate to see a remarkable number of animals, a record for me! This was a very special holiday for me as I treated my gorgeous mum and sister to a holiday at Hluhluwe GR whilst visiting from Australia Melbourne, and the experience exceeded all our expectations. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this trip so memorable.
Alison W — Google review
From the first hello at the gate, we felt looked after. Every ranger and receptionist we met was easygoing, attentive, and genuinely keen to make our stay smooth. Our unit was spotless and snug—a hot shower after the evening drive felt like luxury—yet it was the time out in the reserve that swept us away. Dawn breaks, steaming mugs in hand, then suddenly the bush comes alive: rhino in the mist, elephants ghosting through the fever trees, a burst of oxpeckers and laughter in the vehicle. I’ve never ticked so many sightings in a single trip. What made it unforgettable was sharing it with family. We swapped seats so everyone got the best views, argued (happily) over which moment was “the one,” and ended each night under a sky full of stars, grateful and quiet. Hluhluwe–iMfolozi gave us more than animals and photos—it gave us that rare feeling of time stretching in the best possible way. Heartfelt thanks to the team who made it feel effortless; we left rested, thrilled, and already planning the next visit.
Dylan L — Google review
A little bit rough approach to the park (potholes, cattle and goats), but very good roads in the park. Both paved and dirt roads were accessible to small 2wd cars. The staff were very friendly and helpful a d the rest and camp areas were well appointed and safe. We only had about 4 hours and couldn't cover the 96 000 hectares, but we saw plentiful animals including Elephants, Buffaloes (well in excess of 100), Rhinoceros, Hyena, Nyala, Warthog, Gazelle, Zebra, Monkeys, even a very large Iguana, and more. Unfortunately we missed out on the Lions and Leopards, but we'll try again next time. The veld and views were just magnificent. This in itself already made the trip worthwhile. All-up really good value for money and definitely worth the trip. We would seriously consider booking a night or two at one of the camps on our next visit to the area.
