Nature & Parks
iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO-listed 820,390-acre reserve on South Africa's Elephant Coast, boasts diverse environments including beaches, coral reefs, dunes, and swamp forests. The park is home to the largest estuary in Africa - the St Lucia Estuary - where visitors can enjoy hippo and crocodile safaris or boat trips to spot whales and dolphins.
The views whiles driving through park, just breathtaking! The sounds if animals, snakes as we passed the thick bushes on either side of the stretch of road. The climax was when we drove up to Cape Vidal beach! It just felt like we weren't in South Africa! We were in a foreign country. The mood is relaxed, not full despite the fact that it was Jan 1st 2025! The beach has no life guards, it's a beach to relax & have a picnic by the beach. Swimming is at one's own risk! We passed a few chalets and a camp site located within the wetlands. Driving through the park at the max speed of 50 in places 30 & in some places 20km/h took us roughly 2hrs. We enjoyed our drive & the scenery we don't have in Jhb

For this time of the year the park was so green. We saw Zebra's 🦓, Kudu's, Elephants 🐘 Impala's, Buffaloes 🐃, Bush Pigs 🐽 and lots of beautiful bird 🐦 species. At Cape Vidal we saw vervet Monkeys 🙊 and mongoose. This is one of the most treasured wetland parks in South Africa. Well worth the visit.
Juanita — Google review
Nice park with massive lake in the middle. Great for relaxing drives and sun downer stops. We had a stunning stop for sundowners close by the lake. Make sure you don’t miss that. Probably most noteworthy is Cape Vidal as a point of interest in the park. We recommend the boat cruise instead of the game drive. The park is massive and the game viewing is okay. Somewhat difficult to find animals other than Antilopes, zebra and small game or birds. Hence the boat ride might be more exciting for visitors with limited time at their hands.
Afrika L — Google review
Amazing experience, bring a telephoto lens with you!
David F — Google review
The roads are horrific leading up to the Sodwana gate. The signage also needs to be improved leading up to the park. Google Maps also needs to be updated, however, when you find it's wild and absolutely gorgeous. Just a few tweaks and in my opinion this is the best park to visit in South Africa. We saw all the species of buck, zebra, elephant, a huge snake, lots of birds, tortoise, giraffe and warthog, It's great that it's also much more affordable now.
Natasha O — Google review
It was quite rainy the day that we went but wow, wow, wow! We still saw some beautiful animals and even had elephants in the road (we had to wait about 2 hours until they went off tue road and we could pass). Truly magnificent to have the bush, wetland, and beach experience!
Cat S — Google review
We took a boat tour with a group and saw several hippo families. The wetlands are beautiful. The guides were good. Well worth the trip.

Easy drive and pleasant way to see wildlife. We saw some zebra, warthog, buck along the way, and monkeys at Cape Vidal beach.

Crocodile Centre St Lucia

Mentioned on
5 lists
Zoo
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
The Crocodile Centre St Lucia is a conservation center rather than a farm, where crocodiles are released over time, including those that hatch and grow there. Visitors can witness live feedings and observe the different age groups of crocodiles in separate enclosures. The facility offers informative experiences, although it may benefit from some updates. Despite this, it's an interesting place to visit before heading into the game reserve.
This experience is hands down made better by their guide TK. We were in the area and were looking for something else to do before heading back to our accommodation and came across the Croc Centre. A bunch of the reviews said it was run down, so we weren't expecting much. It cost us R70 per adult. We walked in by ourselves and looked at the first croc pool by ourselves. When we got to the bridge and were looking at the other crocs there, TK spotted us from across the way and asked if we would be interested in holding a juvenile crocodile. Which we were very excited to do. He then stayed with us for the remainder of the time, walking us through each section of the park and explaining/educating at each step. It was a public holiday, and I am sure many people would prefer to be with friends or loved ones and not at work but TK was an absolute light. He truly loves these crocs and what the centre stands for. He is incredibly knowledgable, while being equally humourous. If you're able to have TK as a guide, grab him off the bat, he is undoubtedly what makes this experience worth every cent spent times ten. In terms of the accommodation - you can see it requires some maintenance and upkeep, but it's really not bad at all. The crocs are well looked after and all seem to be very contempt. For what you pay, the knowledge, experience and sightings (and supporting a really good cause) this is undoubtedly an activity worth trying.
Jazz A — Google review
From Family Favourite to Forgotten Shadow. I grew up in this area during the 1980s, and this place was once a highlight of our family’s Sunday outings. Seeing it now broke my heart. The once-beautiful enclosures are unclean and neglected, signs have faded, roofs have collapsed, and the walkways are unsafe. The cages stand empty and full of dust, while the water features lie dry and overgrown. Although most of the animals still seem healthy, their surroundings are in a sad state of decay. It’s painful to see a place that once brought so much joy fall so far — and at nearly R200 per couple... Cash Only, it’s hard to justify the visit. Respect the lives you hold in captivity here and clean it up or return them to the wild and close it down!
John C — Google review
The facility is extremely run down, broken down bathrooms, buildings and walkways in disrepair, tea room not operating and not clean. The saving grace is the staff, they clearly have a deep passion for what they do and made the visit enjoyable. If the facility was properly maintained this would be a jewel.
Reno A — Google review
Highly recommended to visitors local and abroad. Make sure you ask for tour guide Mr T.K. very informative and polite gentleman. As 1st time visitors we were warmly received by Reception and the experience seeing these awesome animals up close and personal was 2nd to none. Also N/B that it's best to go on Saturday from 13h30 and Sundays from 11h30 whereby staff host up close and personal croc demonstrations for the visitors.
Julian G — Google review
Today we visit crocodile Centre, it was very good to be there! We had a professional fantastisch guide he told us every thing about the croc,s! I recommend to visit this park and ask to the guide TK!
Henk R — Google review
The crocs were cool but all of the facilities lacked seemingly any maintenance or upkeep. The informational signs were so faded and dilapidated that it was hard to read at times. Many animal exhibits have long since been abandoned. Tours happen at limited times.
Cody S — Google review
We had a good experience. There’s a great variety of crocodiles and reptiles to see, and it made for a unique and memorable visit. That said, the facility could really use some maintenance and a good clean-up. The place feels a bit run down and untidy. That said,We had a wonderful time and loved learning more about these incredible animals.
Tamika G — Google review
Great experience of beautiful creatures. It was really cool to learn about different types of crocs and alligators and see them in their natural swampy habitat. TK was the best tour guide, he even let us hold a baby croc! Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

Saint Lucia Estuary

Saint Lucia Estuary in South Africa offers a unique opportunity to see hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species like fish eagles. The estuary boardwalk provides a peaceful stroll with vendors selling beautiful artwork made from local fruit. While the estuary itself is mostly covered in reeds, the walk leads to the ocean nearby. Visitors appreciate the natural beauty of this place and its potential for restoration into a pristine ecosystem with some human intervention.
Gorgeous place. Full of wildlife and natural beauty. I highly recommend the hippo and croc boat cruises. As well as eating at the restaurants on the main road. I really had amazing time
Kavesh N — Google review
Sharks and crocodiles are often present in the muddy water. There are no warning signs. The current was hectic. Not for swimming!!!! 3 out of 5 of us nearly died, if not for God's grace. No life guards. I wish someone would warn people, so I'm trying my best for your sake. I hope this helps.
Devon L — Google review
Total disappointment. We used to go there to enjoy fishing in the estuary and it was great fun for the kids. For some reason they have completely closed off the estuary and there is no more sea fish in it - so the only fish you catch is barbell and kirper...and sometimes getting hooked on a croc. Now you have to walk a mile on beach sand to go and fish on the beach, and by the time you get there everyone is tired and miserable. Will definitely avoid it in future.
Daniel J — Google review
Very nice to visit.. Not functional as an Estuary.. with some human intervention it could become a pristine system once again.
Petrus V — Google review
Lovely elevated boardwalk to the beach with new toilets and curio stalls.

There is an estuary board walk near the estuary. The estuary is mostly covered in reeds and cannot really be seen on the walk. The short walk takes you up to the ocean next to the Estuary. Great way to enjoy a peaceful stroll. There is also vendors outside that make beautiful artwork from a type of fruit. Support them if you can.

The Bridge, St Lucia

Holiday apartment
Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
We stayed in number 8, unfortunately only for one night. Stunning view, close to all the restaurants and very clean. Only negative is that there are no aircons in the rooms, we had the door closed and it got very hot. Opening the windows to let a cool breeze in helped for that. The main area does however have an aircon.
Lukas P — Google review
Perfect for just to sleep in at night. Comfortable bed. Clean. Small cozy kitchen for breakfast. Pool is clean. Shower and toilet works well. Pack extremely light as spar and restaurants are on the same road( 1 minute walk). The Bridge itself going towards the river is not safe. You enter at your own risk. Highly recommend do not proceed pass the warning signs. Tons of activities to do. For boat trips contact fannas or take a drive down the road.
Kiara N — Google review
Although clean, the apartment we rented through booking.com was very run down & in need of an overhaul & update. One toilet kept flooding as a stop cock seems broken. Broken cracked tiles on floor of the bathroom & kitchen and very little cutlery. 2tsp & no dessert spoons!! Disappointed on arrival we hope the area makes up for the worn, aged run down apartment. However very pleased that Megan (the manager) acted promptly and noted the faults & dealt with the ones that could be dealt with. Apparently this particular apartment has been blocked out from hire so it can have a refit in the next month. Thankyou Megan.

This has been our second stay at 33 The Bridge, and we will return. The accommodation is the best in the complex and so comfortable. It is in town, so we walked to town. And went to some amazing restaurants for dinner. This will be our next stop when we are in St Lucia again.
Jillian B — Google review
Had a great stay at no. 60. (Ground floor) Ideal for 2 people needing a base while exploring the surrounds of St Lucia. Clean, neat and great location
Sharon M — Google review
The location is good and the gardens pleasant. However when we arrived we found a few things in the flat not working eg. Door handles. These were reported. The biggest disappointment was that 6 months later we still have not received our deposit back even after numerous calls and emails to enquire. I hesitate to recommend these apartments for these reasons
Gavin M — Google review
It is such a beautiful place and it is in a great location. It is in the same street as so many great restaurants that you can walk to. My only complaint is that the bathroom needs some work. Our toilet did not flush properly and there was like a pee smell that stayed in the bathroom. I understand that the toilet is a place where you pee however the smell was so bad it smelt like someone had peed on the bathroom mat before we arrived at the place.

Nature & Parks
Heritage Tours & Safaris offers a seamless booking process and accommodating staff, making it easy to make changes and payments. They provide convenient pick-up and drop-off services at your place of stay. The tours are designed to cater to dietary requirements, including options for vegetarians and vegans. The knowledgeable guides ensure a comfortable experience during the cold drives to the park, allowing visitors to create wonderful memories while spotting some of the big five animals.
We did a full day safari with Jabul. What a nice guide!! We went to Hluhluwe Game Reserve, the southern part. It was a sunny day but it has rained a lot during the last weeks, so the grass was high and everything was very green. Not the best time for good sightings but Jabul did everything to make it a great gamedrive. Included a nice breakfast and braai!
Silvia B — Google review
We stayed at the Heritage Motel and did 4 tours with them. All absolutely wonderful experiences. First one was they picked us up from Durban to Ts Lucia, and we had an evening Safari. The next day we had a full day Safari at Hluhluwe Game reserve. We saw the big 5 except the leopard. Then we had a boat ride to see the Hippos. Our tour guide told us the hippos would walk into town later that evening. We found that hard to believe but they really did . We went to Cape Verde on the last day. We had a fantastic time. I wish I could have stayed longer in StLucia. I didn't even have time to check out the markets. They took us back to Durban, so it was a great service. I highly recommend this company. Also, the staff at the lodge were great.

We booked a Sunset Tour through Heritage Tours and we were fortunate enough to get Luke as our guide. Luke is clearly very passionate about what he does, the area he works in and super knowledgeable, not only about the park, but the greater St Lucia area. I had two young daughters in tow and Luke was very patient with them, answered their questions with kindness and was understanding of their energy on a 3 hour drive. The drive was made when we spotted a leopard and her cub closely followed by a small herd of elephant running down the road. Thank you Luke for a job well done in challenging windy conditions. We booked on the same day we went and the staff on the booking office were friendly and fantastic. Would book again!

Booking with Heritage was easy and Helen was extremely helpful to make changes.payment was also easy. We were picked up and dropped off at our place of stay. Heritage tours really helped us celebrate and make our day very special. It's is very appreciated that they catered for our dietary requirements...yes vegetarians are catered for! The tour itself.....it's a cold drive to the park but Heritage makes it as comfortable as it can be. We managed to make wonderful memories whilst seeing 3 if the big 5. Our guide was very interactive and knowledgeable.appreciate the time he gave us to snap magnificent photos and watch the animals.

We took the half day Safari tour in St. Lucia wetlands park. Involves a safari jeep ride from St. Lucia to Cape Vidal. You see some wildlife. Not much. A couple of kudu duiker warthogs. Some buffaloes. Birdlife is more interesting. The final point at Vidal beach is the best part. The beach is nice. Waves are good. Beach facilities are decent. No food options though.
C2u — Google review
Excellent experience! We were on a cruise that overnighted in Richards Bay. Heritage retrieved us from the port on the first day giving us a three hour sunset tour in the wetlands park with Yum Yum as our guide. The next morning we did an eight hour game run and saw three of the big 5! Lindo was our guide and did an excellent job tracking for us. The final experience was with Hiney on the water with a two hour boat ride meeting the hippos. The accommodations were excellent with private bedrooms and bath and nicely appointed common areas - Bonita was our point of contact and made all the arrangements seamless. They then got us back to the ship the next day in good order. The cost was v reasonable and the experience was priceless 😀🙌🏻💛✨
Lisa P — Google review
Briliant experience. We did a game drive through Hluhluwe with our guide (Jabu). Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We had a great time with him (he is also a braai master!). The bookings process all the way through to the activity was great.
Jurie P — Google review
I've been going on safari with Heritage Tours & Safaris for years and I'm consistently impressed by their professionalism, warm hospitality and incredibly knowledgeable guides. The entire team is friendly and welcoming, making every trip memorable from start to finish. There's never been a dull moment with Heritage. We've had the privilege of spotting plenty of the Big 5 and many other amazing animals over the years. Of course, being in a game reserve means sightings aren't guaranteed, it's all part of the experience. But with patience, and the expert guidance of the Heritage team, you're often rewarded with unforgettable encounters. That’s the true beauty of nature, and Heritage Tours knows exactly how to showcase it. I would absolutely recommend them, 10/10 every time.

St Lucia Cheese Farm and Forest Lodge

Restaurant
Shopping
St Lucia Cheese Farm and Forest Lodge has undergone significant improvements under new ownership. Visitors appreciate the warm hospitality and recommend dining at the farm for a delightful off-grid experience. The serene environment and delicious food, including excellent pizza with vegetarian options, are highlights of a visit. Families also enjoy the fantastic play area for kids and the charming on-site shop.
Lovely little curio shop next to the restaurant. Beautiful zulu heritage blankets. Breathtaking views. The road was a bit rustic after the rains to get there hut well worth the effort. Friendly staff too. So helpful.
Giselle B — Google review
This restaurant is on a working farm. Goats milk cheese is being produced on the farm. This is utopia for kids, where they can walk amongst the farm animals, play put-put and run around freely. Food is prepared on order, so you might wait a little longer for farm fresh, delicious food. But believe me, it's worth every minute. This is a firm favourite stop for lunch on the way to and back from St Lucia.
Heleen E — Google review
We loved our stay at Cheese and Forest Lodge! Ideally located between St Lucia and Umfolozi, it offered a peaceful farm setting with a huge, well-maintained kids’ play area and friendly farm animals to visit. The included breakfast was a hearty, delicious farm-style fry-up, and the service was excellent—staff were genuinely friendly and caring. The small on-site shop was a lovely bonus, stocked with farm-fresh cheese (of course!), soaps, jams, and other handmade goodies. I loved all the various art pieces dotted around the place including the one in our room. Highly recommended for families!
Lucinda D — Google review
On a very blustery day in St Lucia, we decided to take a drive to the Cheese Farm and have a lunch. We were not disappointed! The owner made us feel very welcome and our waiter Sakile was very helpful friendly and efficient! The crispy thin crust pizza is the best I've had in a long time. Hubby ordered the new vegetarian with butternut, blue cheese, red onion and mushrooms, which was absolutely delicious and I had the Mbuzi, which has goat Chevin, basil, Feta, sweet Fig and pecan nut, very very yummy. The surroundings are very pretty and peaceful. It was lovely to look over the beautiful gardens at the farm animals and listen to the cooing doves. We will definitely be stopping off on our way home for a brekkie and a slice of home-made lemon Meringue pie!

Visited this venue for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we received from the owners. The food was great and the service was fast. The service staff that we interacted with were all efficient, professional and friendly. The venue is located in a picturesque area which is peaceful and relaxing. I will definitely visit again on my next trip to the area!
Craig B — Google review
The owners were friendly, and the service from the waiter was excellent. That's about where the compliments end. We specifically went to try their pizza after going through recommendations on Facebook. I do understand that I will be paying a bit more than the average price for a pizza because it is private restaurant, but I expect the pizza to be on par with what you get from other franchises. It wasn't even on par, and if you take fuel inconsideration, it's not worth it. We ordered one of the top priced pizzas. I wouldn't recommend going to the place on a hot day. There are no fans or misters to keep you cool outside. There is a swimming pool, but it's unclear whether one can use it. The road to the restaurant isn't terrible, but it is a bad gravel road. We drove in a large suv, and it felt bad.
Louis T — Google review
I would not recommend anyone going to this restaurant unless the owners make some serious improvements. The only positive thing about our experience was the friendly waiter, she was lovely and provided us with very friendly service. Firstly the name of this establishment is very misleading. We expected a selection of cheeses to buy and also perhaps a cheese tasting experience of sorts. Secondly the restaurant does not have any means of keeping customers cool during extremely hot days. They have aircon inside, but do not even have fans or misters outside to keep guests comfortable. While waiting for our food we decided to go view the animals at the bottom. We are both avid animal lovers and this experience left us both feeling very sombre and actually sick to our stomachs. We were greeted by chickens in very small and dirty pens all hyperventilating from the heat and one of them looking awful with all of it’s missing feathers. Next we walked on to the poor ducks, cramped into an even smaller pen with only a single regular sized bath to swim in. The bath also had a plank in for a ramp, making it even smaller. Of the 5/6 ducks per pen only 2 were able to fit in the water at a time to keep cool. This to us is 100% animal neglect. Not to mention how absolutely dirty and disgusting the water was in both of these baths. After this we were so put oft together with the scorching heat that we actually asked to take our pizza in a takeaway. We ordered a pizza from the menu that sounded amazing and cost R195 which we thought was hefty, but we thought the taste would at least make up for the price. We were very disappointed by the pizza. It was covered in excessive flour at the bottom, had very few meaty toppings on and the taste was bland. Not at all what we were expecting for that price and we both regretted spending so much money on that pizza. I really hope the owners read this comment and do some reflection. I see our reviews are a few of many negative reviews which I regret not reading before travelling all the way.
Izanne B — Google review

Nature & Parks
Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park, also known as Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve, is the oldest game park in Africa and spans over 96,000 hectares. It is renowned for its conservation efforts for both black and white rhinos. The park offers a chance to see the 'big five' animals - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino.
What an unforgettable trip to Hluhluwe Game Reserve! The staff's hospitality and genuine kindness were exceptional from the moment we arrived. Every member of the team was friendly, generous, and happy to help. Our chalet was comfortable and fully equipped, but it was the game drives that truly stole the show. We were so fortunate to see a remarkable number of animals, a record for me! This was a very special holiday for me as I treated my gorgeous mum and sister to a holiday at Hluhluwe GR whilst visiting from Australia Melbourne, and the experience exceeded all our expectations. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this trip so memorable.
Alison W — Google review
From the first hello at the gate, we felt looked after. Every ranger and receptionist we met was easygoing, attentive, and genuinely keen to make our stay smooth. Our unit was spotless and snug—a hot shower after the evening drive felt like luxury—yet it was the time out in the reserve that swept us away. Dawn breaks, steaming mugs in hand, then suddenly the bush comes alive: rhino in the mist, elephants ghosting through the fever trees, a burst of oxpeckers and laughter in the vehicle. I’ve never ticked so many sightings in a single trip. What made it unforgettable was sharing it with family. We swapped seats so everyone got the best views, argued (happily) over which moment was “the one,” and ended each night under a sky full of stars, grateful and quiet. Hluhluwe–iMfolozi gave us more than animals and photos—it gave us that rare feeling of time stretching in the best possible way. Heartfelt thanks to the team who made it feel effortless; we left rested, thrilled, and already planning the next visit.
Dylan L — Google review
A little bit rough approach to the park (potholes, cattle and goats), but very good roads in the park. Both paved and dirt roads were accessible to small 2wd cars. The staff were very friendly and helpful a d the rest and camp areas were well appointed and safe. We only had about 4 hours and couldn't cover the 96 000 hectares, but we saw plentiful animals including Elephants, Buffaloes (well in excess of 100), Rhinoceros, Hyena, Nyala, Warthog, Gazelle, Zebra, Monkeys, even a very large Iguana, and more. Unfortunately we missed out on the Lions and Leopards, but we'll try again next time. The veld and views were just magnificent. This in itself already made the trip worthwhile. All-up really good value for money and definitely worth the trip. We would seriously consider booking a night or two at one of the camps on our next visit to the area.

Wow what an amazing park. Great game viewing. Probably the best park with kids in South Africa. We stayed two nights at Hilltop Camp. Just perfect no complaints. If you want to see Rhinos this is the park saw 11 on our first day

An unbelievably amazing day. Rhino, Elephants, Giraffes and Zebras were the main highlights for us! A beautiful park with amazing facilities and a great restaurant! Staff here were among the friendliest! Great that Petrol was available too as we needed it!

We loved this park!! Since we've been to four other SanParks, we didn't expect much, but we truly saw so many animals. Not as many birds, but still a few interesting ones. Entered for free on our Wild card.

We visited St. Lucia wetlands and estuary with East Coast Safaris and had a fantastic experience, seeing hippos, crocodiles and a variety of bird life. Sonnia, who escorted us, was very knowledgeable about the local area and really made our day one to remember. Highly recommended

You should not even concider anyone else to take you for a game drive. East Coast Safaris has been in the business since I was just a twinkle in my dads eyes and their love for mother nature is the passion that drives them...

🛍️✨ Just had a fantastic day at Boardwalk Mall! The variety of shops is incredible, and I found everything I needed (and more! 😄). The atmosphere is vibrant, and there are plenty of cosy spots to relax and enjoy a bite to eat. 🍽️ Definitely a must-visit if you're looking for a fun shopping experience! #BoardwalkMall #ShoppingSpree #GoodVibes

Doors are broken for months, escalators put of order for weeks. Starting to look like the GM does not care. I cut my foot on a broken door months ago and she promised to prioritise fixing it. Still nothing. I’m ashamed to call this ‘our’ centre
Derick M — Google review
I was disappointed when I visited Boardwalk Mall, the Management needs review how the public access toilets. When one is at the mall he/she is there to spend money so there is no need to pay an extra fee just to access the toilet. Just do your research on how other Malls are maintaining their toilets without charging the Public and by doing so you will attract more customers.
Nozipho F — Google review
We stopped by at this mall on the 4th October at 2pm on route to Jozini, as my little child needed to desperately use the loo as he was unwell. I rushed out the car while my husband tried to find parking. When we got to the loo, we found that it was a paid toilet (which I have no problem with). My child could not wait even a minute longer . I had no cash on me so I asked the rude lady sitting at a desk collecting payment to allow us in. She ignored me and then insisted he uses the male toilet by himself!!! Firstly he was unwell and is a minor! How can it be an expectation that I send a minor child alone into a public bathroom? I ignored her and went into the ladies bathroom with my child. She started causing a scene and called security. In less than a minute - 4 security guards arrived looking for my 7 year old child that had gone into the ladies toilet. They came in looking for a “male that is in the toilet”. At that time my husband was still trying to find the toilet in the mall. When my son was done , they started harassing me for the R2 , trust me paying wasn’t the problem. I again told them that my husband was on his way. They then asked that I leave my child with them and go get the R2!!!What rubbish is this? By that time my husband arrived and told them he had to draw cash, they then insisted I wait while he goes and gets the cash! When he came back the lady collecting the cash charged R4 instead of R2 because I accompanied by child. I bet the extra R2 went into her pocket! Still, the money isn’t the issue. It’s the filthy stinking disgusting attitude of your security. With the robberies and mugging and theft of vehicles that happen in and outside your mall, r- your security should focus more on that than wanting to hold my child and I ransom for R2I dare the mall management to investigate this and provide feedback!
Melanie C — Google review
The mall has a decent variety of stores and the overall layout is clean and easy to navigate. There’s a good mix of food outlets and retail options, but one major letdown is the lack of free Wi-Fi. Most modern malls offer complimentary Wi-Fi as a basic service, and it's surprising that this one doesn't. It would really improve the customer experience if they added it.
Rapelang R — Google review
Very nice mall just need to look at 30min free parking as when you need to drop off or grab somthing you need to pay for parking but every thing you need you will find there grate stuff👌👌👌

Outdoor Activities
Alkantstrand Beach is a popular spot for surfing and swimming, offering amenities like shaded picnic areas, BBQs, and an ablution block. It's known for its Amanzimtoti atmosphere and attracts crowds during holidays. The beach features vigilant lifeguards, a lighthouse lookout point for picturesque views, and tight security at the entrance. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as kitesurfing, fishing, and swimming.
Safe, clean and a nice beach to swim at. There are two sides of the beach that you can swim at which is basically on both sides of the life guard station. The one beach has place to sit on the beach itself where you can directly enter the ocean, but the other beach you have to climb down sand bags to enter the ocean.

If you have a boat this is the place good fishing in the harbour and deep sea ...Best of all is Richard's Bay camp site very clean and organized.... Pelican island unfortunately looked like a dump site ....rubbish and brocken bottles by the ton

Beautiful beach and fun too! Life guards are always alert and the lookout point at the light house is the place to take pictures if your a tourist... There is hardly any crime here, however this beach can become overcrowded on public holidays and school holidays. Nevertheless it still remains one of the best beaches ever. I just wish investors would build a small restaurant or food court here in a settable manner.
Daniel M — Google review
I haven't had so much fun at a beach in a while. The presence and engagement of the life guards makes you feel very safe.
Siyabulela M — Google review
Beautiful beach. Usually busy on weekends. The city has tried to reduce the alcohol and littering issues but more can be done. Nice place to come and spend time by the sea with family, friends or picnic, braai facilities are available. Bathrooms are usually clean. Security could also be improved as there have been reports of vehicles being stolen off the parking lot. Should you get into trouble, lifeguards are there to assist during working hours, after hours they're no they'll have knocked off. Overall a nice place to pop in by and have a visit.
Sandile M — Google review
The beach allows for a variety of activities like swimming, kitesurfing and even fishing. The entrance has tight security and thorough entrance inspections are conducted for banned items such as alcohol which is not allowed. The pier has a lighthouse and the views are really amazing.

It is a nice quiet beach where you can just relax listening to the waves or take endless walks along the beach. Even on busy days it is not crouded with people. For bird and nature lovers there is a walking trail in the nature reserve located right next to the beach with an abundance of birds. The small town of Mtunzini is a lovely, peaceful, safe and quite place that caters for most of your needs.

This would be a great beach. I was there while it’s windy. You pay access fee to the beach with no life guards. Swim at own risk and it’s way a long walk to the ocean. Imagine when it’s hot

The beach is beautiful, we are here on holiday and I honestly failed to understand why we had to pay to be in a public beach, entrance is R30 per person and the car behind us just passed through while we Africans had to pay for entry... I asked a few people that were there and most of them paid the coloured guy who was fishing said he didn't pay... I am yet to do my research and know more maybe there is a system in place I am not aware of but the security was not willing to answer me.

Umlalazi Nature Reserve

Nature & Parks
Umlalazi Nature Reserve is a beautiful coastal sanctuary featuring swamp forests, boardwalks, and beaches. It's renowned for being the habitat of the palm-nut vulture and offers walking trails that wind through picturesque dune and forest ecosystems, making it a paradise for bird enthusiasts. Visitors can explore the Indaba Tree, which holds historical significance as a site where John Dunn conducted meetings. The reserve also boasts tranquil picnic spots and a pristine beach perfect for swimming.
Umlalazi Nature reserve offer the family a wonderful experience. Picnic sites are nestled in bushy surroundings, generously spaced to offer great privacy. The estuary has a wonderful mangrove walk, with stunning views of the river. The beach has an expansive sandy area with unprotected, but wonderful swimming. The beach parking is expansive and there are many public ablution facilities. For such a reasonable entrance fee, this is a great option.
Timothy E — Google review
The reason for the 3 star 🌟 is because Ezemvelo could do better. The ablutions are disgusting particularly at the entrance. I wonder what the staff do all day. As for the reserve itself what a beautiful place, prolific birdlife, creatures great and small abound just being in sure a beautiful place is an amazing experience from grasslands, to shady trees for picnics (if you can fight off the monkeys) human problem not monkey problem, to beach and lagoon. Gorgeous. If the park could be kept in good order by its warders/keepers then it would get a 5 on my rating. Oh and leave your alcohol and music at home please.
Loren ( — Google review
What a beautiful place. The camp site, Inkwazi, is really beautiful but the ablutions have a lot to be desired! Very sad to see them in this condition and this would be the only reason we won’t be rushing back there sadly.
Penny M — Google review
R35 per person to go into the park. Worth every cent. Good clean facilities. For a fun half day: 1. Go to the main Beach and dip your feet. ( beware this beach does not have lifeguards...do not swim). 2. Head to the lagoon and take a walk on the mangrove boardwalk. We saw monkeys and the curious fiddler crabs. 3. Unpack your picnic or braai stuff at the lagoon while the more active in the group head along the Forrest walk in the direction of the the river mouth. Alovely half day activity.
Moz R — Google review
This is a beautiful place to get away from the busy city. It's relatively clean, with so much to do, from trails, to beach access, to educational boards posted around the reserve, braai areas and so much more. Red duiker, zebra and tons of critters and birds. Its a big reserve too, so you have choice in activities and where to spend your time. Entrance was R60 per person and the vehicle is checked on exiting.
Franki G — Google review
A beautiful place all-round. But wow, the way the log cabins are structured brings no fresh breeze whatsoever. A fan would definitely do to keep things easy and cool.

Shakaland

Shakaland is a cultural village and living museum that showcases the Zulu people's traditional way of life. It is located in KwaZulu-Natal, previously known as Zululand, and offers educational tours for visitors to experience traditional tool making, beer tasting ceremonies, and performances of songs and dances by locals dressed in customary attire. The village also features chic huts equipped with satellite TV and a colourful restaurant.
An excellent experience esp for city kids like us. We stayed a night only at the Shakaland Traditional Zulu Handwoven bee-hive hut and experienced two Shaka cultural programme whilst there. The facilities and amenities are modern despite the Zulu outlook. WiFi is only available at two area: the reception and bar area but they are top notch. Take it from me. I'm from Singapore and I'm raving about the WiFi at Shakaland. Their executive from HQ who happened to stay overnight too, observed city kids like us congregating at the reception area after dinner instead of retreating to our room, we explained the need to stay connected. He said he will bring the feedback back to the HQ. So if you stay here next time, and could connect to civilization, the credit is ours. For those who want to cut off from modern world, you can always choose to disconnect. All meals here are cooked pretty much similar to modern hotel chains. Oh and pack more bottled water before coming here. Each bottle costs R26 here. The Zulu tribes here speak good English and have a great sense of humour. We also picked up beautiful handmade bracelets here as souvenirs. R10 a piece. (R10~US$0.70)
Jeannie O — Google review
The guided tour through the village was very informative and encouraged guest participation. The guide allowed for questions and answered these very confidently and is very knowledgeable. The spirited dance at the conclusion was a fitting end to the walk through the village and gave a sense of the energy of the Zulu warriors in battle. The lunch served was wholesome and offered a wide variety of options.
Frances B — Google review
The Zulu cultural village is a unique place absolutely worth a visit! The village's location is on top of a hill overviewing a lake. The main house is in traditional style like the rest of the village but with a typical Safari lodge touch (well, from the 80th). There even is a pool. The people are super friendly, they try really hard to give and show you information about the Zulu culture (spread over the whole day). We stayed overnight in one of these traditional huts. Well, they are stunning and spacious. But please consider that this will become a basic experience. It's a hut. Last not least the food: really well made and even for vegetarians a lot to choose from. We enjoyed our stay very much!
Georg J — Google review
This place is rubbish accommodation. The huts are dark, and not only smell like a wet dog after a run in the park, but exude dampness from every surface, pillow, and sheet. It was a bit gross to sleep on. The fixtures, fittings, and furniture were also quite tired and in need of updating. The bar staff always had to be hunted down to get a drink, as they were never behind the bar. When I found one, I was treated like an annoyance and not a customer. Dirty pool water, no sun loungers by the pool. I could go on, but I'll end this review with the cherry on top: AT 6:55 AM THEY MARCH AROUND THE ROOMS BEATING A DRUM! A drum before 7am.... Just not a good idea guys!
Robert L — Google review
The tour was ok, felt rushed from one point to the next. I would suggest less content and more time on explaining things properly so that one can understand the ways of living before moving on to the next thing. I also felt trapped in the big hut at the end whilst the dancing was taking place. Either make it a bit shorter or tell people that they can pop outside and come back if they want to. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was very good.
Simone C — Google review
I visited and stayed here in 2011 and it was not bad. Good show, comfortable but not luxury accommodation. Fast forward to 2020. Not much maintenance. Surly staff - gone were the laughing Zulu's: now into the "get as much as you can from the tourists". Expensive drinks. They seem to have a deal with Eshowe Council to traffic fine rental vehicles to/from the main road on their short and little used access road: no explanation/justification provided so you are forced to pay a R300 entry/exit fee regardless of what time you spend at the facility. Government corruption at work? - tourists beware!
Keith R — Google review
Shakaland is intriguing and confusing. It offers a simple introduction into traditional Zulu culture and as such it is useful and interesting. It is an odd mixture of authentic and tourist - I imagine it is very difficult for those running Shakaland to know what mixture of information and entertainment to offer. We enjoyed the tour of Zululand living and customs and the show was vibrant. We were fortunate that on the evening we attended there was a large group of local Zulu secondary students in the audience, which gave the event a strong vibe and the perfomers responded well. It was said that a few week's earlier there were only a handful of people in the audience and it is hard to think the experience would have been so immersive. The buffet at the end of the evening had a wide variety of choice, well-cooked and presented, and with both local and 'western' dishes.
Robert F — Google review
Shakaland brings history to life with an excellent service! A blend of traditional and modern, the huts take one away from the hustle and bustle of city life only to represent it in the enthusiasm found in the sale of Zulu memorabilia. Modern comforts are not neglected and it is possible to withdraw from the heat to air conditioned rooms. There is also a very able restaurant. Shakaland is more than just a tour of the past with mod cons. It is an opportunity to take part in the Zulu culture.

We stayed at the Prince’s Grant Lodge for 3D2N. We booked a huge room with king size bed and wrap around balcony. The view of our room facing the golf course and the sea was truly amazing. It was a very relaxing staycation. We love the staff, everyone is just very friendly and helpful. The food at the lodge was also good and that’s one factor that made our stay very comfortable. The whole property is huge, safe with great security. Make sure once you check in at the lodge to ask the frontdesk about biometrics registration so that you can access the beach. This place is a great quick getaway from Durban, just a good 45-50 minute drive off the N2.

Flag Farm Animal Farm, located in Saint Lucia, is a sanctuary for over 1000 animals, including birds, reptiles, and wolves. Notably, 80% of the animals are rescued. The farm offers a great venue for events like birthday parties with plenty of activities and a popular play area for kids. While there's no electricity on site, the facilities are well-maintained with clean toilets available.
Wow! WOW! Just WOW 🤩 What an incredible afternoon spent at the Flag animal Farm. From the second we arrived we were greeted by friendly smiles, cheerful chatter & plenty different animal noises. The cow milking show was an absolute hoot, getting everyone involved. The staff are so much fun creating such an awesome, relaxed atmosphere. We sang & danced & laughed until the cows came home (literally!) from the humongous pig to the lazy lambs. Each & every animal is well looked after, fed & cared for. The tractor ride had me in hysterics with the driver singing Old Mac Donald’s Farm with the biggest smile on her face… Please support this amazing farm!! The animals need us, the children will thank us & the adults, well- if they are anything like me- they won’t want to leave! ❤️ Keep up the EXCELLENT effort Flag Animal Farm Team. We see you!

They have lots of different animals that they have rescued. They are living in much better circumstances than when they were rescued. There's lots of opportunities for children and adults to interact with the animals and there are plenty of play areas where children of various ages can play. Absolutely amazing place for the kids. My kids always have the best time here. Lovely little water park. The farm is always kept clean and neat. Staff are very welcoming. And lots of fun activities for the kids.

Fantastic day out with the kids. Friendly and professional personnel. Well priced and informative. Kids can interact with animals. The best part is the work they do to rescue animals in distress.
Marius S — Google review
A good place for kids to kill a couple of hours. Small but nice selection of rehabilitation animals, the pony ride is the world's shortest ride...staff were friendly. A coffee shop would have been great...
Laurence B — Google review
Flag Animal Farm is such an amazing place doing incredible work rescuing and rehabilitating animals in need. You can see how much love and care goes into giving them a safe, clean, and happy home. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always around to make sure both the animals and visitors are well looked after. The educational shows are great, and it’s the perfect place for kids to learn, play, and have fun — from the jungle gyms to the water park. A big thank you to the whole team for all the love, effort, and heart you put into everything you do. Truly a wonderful day out for the whole family!

The Litchi Orchard.

$$$$affordable
Farm
The Litchi Orchard is not just a litchi farm, but also a vibrant hub for food, design, crafts, and retail. Nestled in a lush garden setting, it offers an impressive garden restaurant with a fully licensed bar. The orchard boasts beautiful litchi trees laden with fruit and features charming shops offering various goods. Visitors can explore small craft shops and galleries while enjoying homemade baked goods and specialty wines.
Awesome day at litchi festival. Friendly team. Litchi was so juicy and sweet..so good meeting the owner of the well organized litchi farm...definitely looking forward to the 2oth year in 2025...good job team litchis

The Apple tree at Lichi Orchid is simply beautiful! Attended a magnificent high tea for a 40th birthday party! Unbelievable setting, exquisite food and simply excellent service!
Shana G — Google review
The farm is big , but there is no farm tour . This place is 100 years old where Litchie plants were planted from Mauritius . There are two restorantsvand a curio / fashion shop - no dishes related to Litchie . Nothing special . But restorant ambiance is very good . Then tey are selling Litchie bags in one corner @ 200 per 2 kg . That’s it, no guide, no farm tour , no story telling , no Litchie products, may be our expectations were too big . So overall a waste of time if you got a busy schedule . If you have lot of time in Ballito , then you can visit this place for a nice lunch or breakfast and have a look at Litchie trees, Dec to March is the season . As of now no wow effect . Any way I saw the Litchie tree for the first time in life , that was very special ❤️
Sreekumar S — Google review
This is a lovely place to relax and unwind. Litchi season is the best time and the most wonderful views of the juicy red litchis on the trees. Lots of parking available. Restaurants and a few stores on the premises. A picture perfect coffee shop as well , too cute. The litchis are amazing, sweet and juicy...absolutely fantastic, reasonably priced as well.
Ishana R — Google review
Wow what a beautiful place. A real little garden of Eden just around the corner from the hustle and bustle. The garden restaurants is impressive. They are also fully licensed. The Litchi tree is one of the most beautiful. These trees are everywhere om the grounds packed with fruit. Fruit is not to be touched. That is what the shop is for. There is gorgeous little shops to get necessities or just something nice. The kids play area is not something I've seen before. Their core business is furniture manufacturing. They give back to the community by teaching the skill to make furniture. Also great vegetables gardens.
Debbie W — Google review
Although we visited out of season, this venue is worth a visit for its layout of small shops. The funky coffee shop offers breakfasts and can accommodate small birthday parties. There is a specialist wine shop and a few other craft shops and small galleries. You can buy homemade baking goods here. In season, you can buy fruit and there are more craft stalls available. Nice open air atmosphere in a very neat farm setting.
Hetta P — Google review
A great venue with stalls selling quality hand crafted good. Coffee shops and beer, food and treats. I received a relaxing massage, we were entrained by a talented musician while the kids could run around and play.

I absolutely love the Litchi Orchard. Whenever I am planning a break to my Salt Rock holiday cottage I plan it around the Litchi Orchard because I am so in love with the place. It's a north coast weekend institution with the freshest food, the coldest beers, the nicest crowd, the best music and the most beautiful weather

Thompsons Beach

Mentioned on

Beach
Outdoor Activities
Thompsons Bay Beach is a picturesque sandy shore situated in a sheltered cove, featuring low and rugged cliffs. This beach is highly appreciated by visitors due to its renowned hole in the wall, which provides an awe-inspiring view to relax and enjoy. The beach also has a large tidal pool called Charlies Pool for tanning or snorkeling that is protected from winds by the cave.
There is a small parking area with a steep path leading down to the beach. A beautiful, rocky beach protected by shark nets and lifeguards, but not as safe for swimming as Willard. The adjacent tidal pool is large and fun to swim in, especially at high tide when the waves splash onto the rocks and into the pool. The beach and ablution facilities were quite clean, but the whole area around the pool is in need of an upgrade. The outside showers were great. Once we got used to the weirdos hanging around the pool, it was quite an enjoyable experience.
Bongani C — Google review
Overall good beach, a bit small with a tidal pool onsite which is great. Lifeguards on duty as well as changerooms and toilets. Just bring your own food if you plan on staying longer, there are no restaurants on the actual beach other than some Ice cream vendors
Thabiso S — Google review
Really loved this beach... if, like me, you don't like huge crowds you'll really enjoy Thompson's...
Nelio J — Google review
The beach is really clean and water very blue and clear. The waves are really great and can catch you offguard🤣.The environment was very clean and is incomparable to most of the beaches in KZN.The tidal pool is also a very great feature and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lindiwe V — Google review
The natural beauty is amazing.. The tidal pool itself is great, take your goggles and snorkeling sets with, but there's been deterioration since the last I've been there. The bathroom area isn't exactly clean and we'll kept, toilets small and floors are dirty. No supervision there. Lifeguards are dismissive, not exactly friendly. If you force a conversation they'll talk but other than that they stare but are not pleasant. The ocean itself is lovely, just be careful of the waves, very unpredictable.. Rip currents common

It was 1 Sunday morning and it was literally a hot morning. I felt I could do a walk on the beach or just go for a peaceful drive along the beach roads. So driving along Ballito side & we ended up in this beautiful serene atmosphere. Its called the hole in the wall in Thompson’s bay were not many people know about this place. Very exciting. I will be sure to visit this beauty again coming very early along with my picnic basket and well dressed for the beach and tidal pool. Loved climbing up the rocks and just sitting there enjoy nature. Hearing the sound of the waves and birds chirping and singing. Not much of a walk going down to the beach. Very safe. Lots of parking. Just park your car. There are car guards..& walk you go. Be sure to carry everything with you otherwise you will have to walk up again. This was quiet an adventure. Really enjoyed.
Nerisha B — Google review
A relatively intimate beach located in the northern region of Ballito. This is currently one of the few beaches in the (Greater) Durban region thus it’s definitely worth the 30-40 minute drive from Durban CBD, to enjoy. It’s clean, not overly populated and extremely serene. This beach is also kid-friendly and provides a solid day out at the beach. There are picnic benches available on site. The key attraction is the “hole in the wall”, as well as the rock pool. These unique features give Thompson’s Beach that edge. There’s relatively adequate parking on site, as well as street parking. This is a beautiful beach and definitely worth the outing!

Whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or family fun, this outdoor destination has something for everyone. From exhilarating mountain biking and Segway rides to leisurely brunches at Food Fundi and tranquil open grassed areas, the park provides an array of experiences.
We spent an amazing day out here. If you looking for relaxed atmosphere, away from busy shopping malls for your kids. They would appreciate this kind of set-up like we did. I had a iced coffee at the coffee shop and enjoyed the scenery while my boys enjoyed putt putt❣️

Plan was to stay till noon, we ended up leaving after 4pm. Loved that all of my children are catered for in terms of activities that are available-this is a biggie for me due to the big age gap between them. Its very hard to find a place were all the different age groups can have fun. Highlights were; the face paint(amazing), bungee swing, slime making and of course the free kiddies play area that took care of my young ones from morning till we left. Next time I'm bringing my own water bottle because haai their pricing :o We will be going again, soon.

Great fun for the whole family. We enjoyed the scratched, slime factory and bounce while the other are cycling the various trails. Lovely restaurant with delicious food and a coffee shop closes the deal! Even a workshop and store to get your bicycle ready for the day. The route markers on the trails are not great, and one can easily get a bit lost though.
Andre W — Google review
My 3rd visit to play putt-putt. We specifically got there early to avoid the heat of the day, but once again the sun was unbearable. You really need to put up shade net over the course. It is expensive & you literally get the stick and ball dumped on the counter and that's it. No welcome greeting or a friendly staff member to explain the course, no scorecards. The course was untidy & the greens covered in grass & seed pods. The waterways were dirty with stagnant water so if your ball went into the water it was not pleasant. We eventually left after the 6th hole. A lot of money wasted on a really bad experience once again - no improvement over the past few years. Really disappointing.

Sugar Rush Park is a perfect place for great food, chilled atmosphere, adventure and more! As you enter and begin to explore the park, staff members will greet you and are super friendly. There's ample activities to do, especially for children over the age of 5. Entrance is free to the public but you have to pay for the different activities/facilities available. Again, prices are pretty affordable. The restaurant staff are humble, friendly and professional. Theres a variety of foods to choose from and the quality of the food is AMAZING!! I've tasted one of the best-tasting bubblegum milkshakes here! Prices are reasonable and the setting is relaxed. There's a Cafe on site as well. They got you covered if you're looking for a quick bite, a snack, a main course or desserts (for children or adults). Some activities you can find here are: - Laser rush (tag), Tree Trails, The Jump Park, Holla Trails, Scratch Patch, Unicorn Slime & Craftopia, Ndlondlo Snake Park, Children's Train Ride (R30p/p) and much more. Want to visit the park but you have a pet? Sugar Rush Park has you covered as they're pet friendly! This is one of my pull factors to visit. Be sure to have your pet on a harness/leash at all times (for the safety of your pet and other visitors). It would be great for there to be activities for children between the ages 2 and 4 to do as the park has really has great potential. Overall, my family and I had a great experience and will definitely be back soon 😊.

Ndlondlo Reptile Park

Hands-on reptile & snake park offering demonstrations, tours & snake handling courses.
Brilliant experience due to the incredible knowledge and passion of the Team, evident in their in depth expertise and the authority with which they talk and engage visitors on snakes, reptiles and even a few scorpions too. An impressive collection of rescue snakes being nurtured and prepared to be released back in the wild. An excellent guided tour by Shailin working with the inspiring Neil and Helen, both of whom we met. The enclosures are a work in progress as they had to relocate but we leaned so much and were truly impressed. Our twins even got to hold a couple of snakes which was a once in a lifetime experience. Highly recommend a visit. They do such important work in the community whilst protecting and safeguarding nature. Truly humbling. 🐍

This was a wonderful, interactive experience for the whole family. Our guide was very knowledgeable and patient, and we all learnt so much about their different snakes and reptiles. I think with a lot more support they’ll be able to improve and modernise their facility. But overall, we had a lovely time.

My children had a ball!!! The staff were SOOO knowledgeable and us as parents could sit at a nearby restaurant and have a drink while the chidren were beïng cared for by the staff. The young man took SO many photos of our children holding all the reptiles. I am well impressed with this interactive experience. They came back telling us about all the wonderful facts they learned. Not to be missed on your visit!

Visiting Ballito and was told about the Sugar rush park which is incredible for kids but what absolutely took me by surprise was the Ndlondlo Reptile Park. The guide who took my 2 + 4 yr old through the park was so informative, passionate and well spoken. The condition the reptiles are kept in is immaculate. You can see the passion and vision of this place shine through so strongly. They want people to leave better educated about and inspired by on some of the creatures (snakes, scorpions, spiders etc.) that people are so scared of. They also do their absolute best to rehome a lot of the animals that they are called in to rescue to wilderness areas where they will be safe. All in all a world class experience.

Another great shopping mall... Everything you need... A ton of stores to choose from, can check out the store list on their website... I believe 3 floors deep... Security of course... Paid parking... Food court...

A big mall with a mix of clothing, and sports shops. Good for everyday shopping. Pass by Checkers and Hifi Corps. Both shops were fully stocked and had variety in products. Ample parking. Not too crowded on a Sunday afternoon.

I recently visited Ballito Junction, and I had such a great experience! This was probably my second time there, and I loved it even more. The mall is spacious, easy to navigate, and beautifully designed. It was so convenient to find everything we needed—Checkers and all the other stores were clearly marked and accessible. What stood out the most was how friendly and helpful the staff were across the different stores we visited. The customer service was excellent, and it made our shopping experience even more enjoyable. Ballito Junction really is a gem, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. Highly recommend!

Three stars because of an incident I had where I lost a parking ticket and the Severest lady by the boom gate was reluctant to assist us after paying R50 for a lost ticket, the replacement ticket kept on being rejected by the boom and she showed us attitude. we had to hold traffic as she didn't stop the other cars from moving so I can go back and try to rescan the ticket. I went back and the machine at the mall, and the ticket was still rejected. A security guard assisted us who walked towards Severest lady and then we were able to leave the mall. Other than that Ballito Junction is a beautiful Mall, except for some rotten potatoes that looks at the colour of your skin and show you attitude. Thanks to the Mall Security. I came back yesterday to do business and RoccoMamas was the best. Keep it up. @Severst please train your staff.
Sifiso M — Google review
It was a very busy month end Saturday, still the mall traffic was manageable. Two security guards I asked for directions was very friendly and helpful. There’s plenty of shops offering a variety of necessities, clothing, food, liquor, pharmacies etc. The 4 stars is purely for directions. It’s my only suggestion as well, to have clearer marking of the shop directions. As a first timer there, it was difficult to find a specific large chain store, which could be better indicated at the entrances. The security guards at least knew the mall and gave good directions.
Luan L — Google review
Clean, bright, and easy to navigate. Plenty of parking, visible security, and a good mix of stores for errands and a wander. Food options cover quick bites and sit-downs. Gets busy on weekends, but flow is managed well.

Seems safe although I have had one too many strange experiences where men push up against my bag and even guys trying to discreetly signal to each other that they have noticed me coming along. They should really find away to deter opportunists. I'm very sure some are trying to pick pocket or even scam/con vulnerable people. Other than this concern, the mall itself is wonderful .

Wow! What an amazing experience we had visiting Crocodile Creek!! The tour guide was very informative and fun in the way he was talking and explaining about the crocodiles and the place. The place is kept very neat and clean, if the water seems dirty, it’s not… it’s duck wheat.. aids in keeping the water level constant as well as the water temp. All crocs are well taken care off. There is a couple of monkeys, but they didn’t cause any nuisance, as well as sweet dogs and cats… A definite must visit!! The road leading to the croc creek isn’t of the best, which is understandable as it’s running between sugar cane farms, but the journey is well worth it!!

We thoughourly enjoyed our visit at Croc Creek. Very informative , learnt so much about the crocs. Tour guide was exceptional, very interesting and entertaining, made us laugh out loud. Great for a family outing , the kids went ballistic seeing all the crocs up close. The kiosk in the front for memorabilia items are rather pricey , perhaps if they lowered their prices they'd make a bit more money. I wanted to buy my infant a memory soft toy and for a small croc it was priced at R185. We did not eat here however they do have a menu with a few food options, we got some cool drinks and waters for the walk. Entrance fee for all of us (5) was very reasonable. Saw some massive crocs and our son and his cousin got to hold a 6 year old croc. We went on an extremely hot day so go when it's not too warm for a more comfortable experience and also you can see more crocs, on very hot days the crocs are all cooling off in the water, on cooler days they're on the land. Prams suitable for this venue , the only exception was the stairs as you enter into the "hall" where they have presentations. One can spend a few hours.

Just Wow. Shaun has been incredible. This is a once in a lifetime experience. There are 1000 crocs. There was a wolf too. Thank you to Shaun and the team for this experience I will truly never forget.

This was the perfect venue for our family get together. Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Lots of space and benches/braai areas available so families can have their own space without cramping others. There were also lots of taps which were easily accessible. The place was very clean and tidy, with lots of bins and even the different recyclable bin options. The toilets were all in working condition and very clean. The lady at reception was very friendly and helpful. They also hire out canoes which comes with 2 life jackets and 2 oars. Would definitely recommend!

It's lovely and peaceful at this dam for a day outing. Can get a bit pricey if you're a group of people as you pay per person entering. The premises seem to be well maintained and clean which is great to see. It's worth a trip to this dam, some beautiful surroundings and awesome birdlife if you are a keen birder.

The roads leading to hazelmere dam are quite bad and the entrance wait time to get into site took longer than the drive here, although it was peak time. Hello fellow traveler, I’ve been going to Sibiya for over a decade now and it’s never disappointed, from entertaining us in the theatre to having fun and enjoying ourselves in the dinning aspect of Sibiya it’s been a blast, the casino as well is well maintained and quite enjoyable within your LIMIT. I have to say Sibiya is aging like fine wine everything is how it’s meant to be and the experience each time is unique and enjoyable. May it be with your family or solo there’s plenty to do in Sibiya.

This review is for the casino the GAMING SMOKING AREA The VENTILATION IS VERY POOR extremely congested, uncomfortable and UNHEALTHY especially when overcrowded, over the weekends and busy periods. I noticed this over a good couple of visits. I suggest you guys upgrade your ventilation systems.....

Here is your revised formal review with your changes included: --- I would like to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent visit to The Fun Company at Sibaya Entertainment Area. During my time there, I experienced unprofessional behaviour from the staff members, who were gossiping about how many times I went to check my balance on my card. Furthermore, when I encountered a problem with one of the machines, the employees failed to assist me adequately and did not check my game properly. My main issue was with Mansa, whose conduct was especially unprofessional. Due to this experience, my rating for Sibaya has dropped from a five to a three, as this is the only place in Sibaya where I did not feel welcomed or valued as a customer. I hope management addresses these concerns seriously to improve the service for future customers.
Saihil N — Google review
Fix your bars please. It takes forever to get a drink. You have wait staff prepping drinks and nobody helps unless you demand it. Service is slow and stroppy. It seems if they don't like the look of you they don't get served. Suncoast is waaaay better than you guys by miles when it comes to service. Oh and your service staff don't deserve to be ALWAYS faffing with paperwork I.e till slips. What the hell is wrong with your loss control.
