Lone Creek Falls, located just a short drive from Sabie, is a stunning 70-meter waterfall surrounded by indigenous forest. It offers easy pedestrian access and nearby parking. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the falls along with amenities such as picnic facilities, a sandy beach, and a swimming pool. The site has been designated as a national monument due to its picturesque aesthetics and the surrounding indigenous vegetation in the kloof below the waterfall.
This is by far one of my favorite waterfalls in the area for the simple fact that you are so close to it. The spray from the impact is so refreshing as it hits your face and it is so relaxing to just stand there and breathe it in.
The waterfall is just a short walk away from the car park and offeres a circular walk to the falls, through some trees and back.
There is also a photo opportunity that is quite nice but it can get crowded and it always muddy due to the water. There is the option of a picnic onto of the falls but I never did that personally, so I can't accurately say how it is.

The waterfall is absolutely beautiful, but the road to get there, not so much. We nearly turned back but a car coming from the falls stopped and told us it's worth it. Well, my car survived and it was worth it. The falls are stunning. There are ablutions and a picnic area. Make sure you wear appropriate shoes as it's quite slippery. R50 entrance - card machine.

We were first at Bridal Vail waterfall and the experience there was much better than lone creek, you walk and it's trees and boom you see the water fall and it's fenced off (unlike bridal Vail waterfall) and then you walk over a bridge and that's it .
Nothing interesting or like the same as bridal Vail waterfall where you actually feel nature, have quite a hike and also see flowers, plants, hidden water falls were you can go and even the big watefall you can actually get a rock stand at the back of it feel everything and also we spend a lot more time there than here at lone creek.
If we were at lone creek 15min in and out it's alot.
We spend 4 hours at Bridal Vail waterfall and it was amazing, beautiful, an experience!! And so special,
Would recommend lone creek falls for people who want to walk on concrete with their white Nike's and just have a look at a fenced waterfall to say " they were near the waterfall in Sabie"

I have a review on bridal Vail falls, go have a look at that photos and how beautiful it is people and how it actually looks like a fairytale.
I went there less than a week ago the price has changed to R50pp and it was beautiful with nice photography spots. The only problem l had was the road going there..
Lone creek Falls have forever been a part of my Sabie experience and will continue going forward, Its great to see the are being looked after, managed and cleaned.
the additional facilities to braai and have a picnic, but should be managed accordingly as you are in nature and theres no need for cars to be blearing music that you can hear over the waterfall at the waterfall which was slighly dissapointing considering its quite a pricey entry fee to visit the waterfall at R75 per person as a south african resident which the gate keeper wouldnt take no for an answer as the published Prices are R36 at the more expensive end and he stated out ID and or Drivers license was not valid to get the SADC rates
Mpumalanga does it again with the falls.
My only complaint is they have built barricades to restrict people from getting into the water but guys, these places are so gorgeous.
Amazing thing about this falls is there is a walk towards the waterfall. The walk is sweet as the vegetation is pretty and soothing. The cherry on the top is the anticipation of the waterfall as it gets louder as u reach closer.
Getting there is great, leaving is a problem coz u just won't want to leave. So soothing and amazing.
God's creation is just so unchallenged.
Very short Trail, waterfall not very specatular. Better to see other watefalls.
Drive into and out of the falls was very bumpy and LOTS of pot holes. R36 entrance fee is reasonable, kids under 6 are free. Falls are beautiful and scenery well kept. Fencing to keep the crowds out of nature and safe from drowning. With the falls being less than 100m from the parking, very easy to visit.

Wow what can I say, it not the biggest but certainly one of the most beautiful falls, staff are very friendly and we entered without any fuss, it was a small hike to the falls but well worth it, the road towards the falls isn't great so take your time you will be dodging potholes, and from there you will go on a dirt road but the experience is well worth it

It's absolutely beautiful, breathe taking and also looks like something out of a fairytale, when walking you see and feel nature the atmosphere, the hike is awesome and kids and adults that are adventurous can enjoy it.
It's a full experience, there are hidden waterfalls aswell, as there are like little paths you can go down, we found hidden waterfalls 😉 and have the most beautiful photos, aswell as the big waterfall were you can actually go close to and isn't fenced off !!
I recommend this place over any other waterfall in Sabie by far ( have a look on my other reviews)

Beautiful nature soeaks for itself, 15minute hike, also beautiful in itself, needed slight maintenance from overgrowth. Fees were payable, ablutions were is good shape. Road to location was shockingly bad!!!
The entrance fee is R20... it's quite an uphill walk if you are a bit unfit and the path is very slippery at times. Wear comfortable non- slip shoes for this walk. I wore sneakers, and I still slipped and fell on the way down the path. Awesome views on the drive up to the entrance of the falls. This was a gravel road, but way better than most of the tar roads in the area
The breathtaking waterfall, nestled amidst lush greenery and towering cliffs, made the journey more than worthwhile. The surrounding nature added to the charm, making it a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts and photography lovers alike. The short hike to reach the falls was enjoyable and well-marked. However, despite the wonders that awaited us at Bridal Veil Falls, there was one downside that cannot be overlooked - the condition of the road leading to the site. The journey to reach this natural gem was marred by a bumpy and poorly maintained road, which added some discomfort to the trip. Overall it was still a lovely experience.
A really beautiful Falls where you can get up close with the fresh spring water. If you carrying a camera I would advise you carry a protective casing to protect your gear. The hike to the Falls is some good cardio too.
A short steep walk, but absolutely worth it. The waterfall hasn't seen much rain to form the "veil" yet, but it is still luscious and green and definitely a highlight on the Panorama Route. Entrance is @R15 per adult and they have card facilities. There are bathrooms on site that are in fair condition. Please keep in mind that the gravel road and potholes that lead to the site can be bad.
Areas in the Lowveld received significant amounts of rain during the month of February. The persistent rain has been unprecedented and thus we had to go and see our favourite Sabie waterfall.
A trip to the Bridal Veil is never in vain, but oh goodness! this was incredible! In 20 years I've never seen it in this splendor.
Be sure to take an umbrella or rain coat, the misty spray is an unavoidable delight.
It's regrettable that the road towards the entrance is in such poor condition, but if you take it slow it should be okay.

Mac Mac Falls is a stunning attraction in Mpumalanga, known for its twin waterfalls that drop 70 meters into a deep gorge. The falls are named after the Scottish miners who came to the area during the gold rush of the 1870s. While swimming at the falls is not permitted due to safety reasons, downstream from Mac Mac Pools offers an ideal spot for picnicking and swimming.
Do not drive past and miss out. Lovely to see. You are not supposed to walk down to the bottom of the falls, bit if you are South African and friendly to the staff they will show you which no entry sign to walk part to get down there.

Absolutely stunning view. It was very easy to find and a quick little walk down. The market ladies were friendly....a little persistent but friendly nun the less. R20 entry is nothing to pay for the experience.
B....E....A.....UUUUtiful falls. Nice and adequate parking and a small stroll to the view point. Do visit this place if you're in Panorama Route. The only thing I don't understand is the ticket for it. Although it's not much but i don't think it's necessary. Per person, it's R25 for SA nationals and R50 for foreigners. A local mentioned it used to be free just a few years ago. Anyway, even with the small fee, one must go. There are some local handicrafts/ souvenirs at the parking area. What I didn't like about this fall was how the view point is made. The fence bars are so high that they block/ hinder the view to this amazing fall. Thankfully i had a drone so i could bypass those bars but i think something like nearby falls (lisbon & berlin) could've been done which doesn't block your view.
There are several spots where you can sit and look at the waterfall. You just have to climb a few steps. If the first bench is taken, there's another one not far from there.
The waterfall is stunning, especially against the backdrop of the side of the rocks. As it hit the bottom, it seemed to be smoking. Reminds me of the native beliefs around water.
As usual, I don't post features because you must come see it for yourself.
Again, a few ladies and gentlemen are selling things here. I think they could bring in some variety and target local tourists. Probably modernize what's for sale.

This was a must see. It’s beautiful and an easy walk down to the fall. It takes about 5min to get from your car to the view point. It was R20 entry.
R25 per person entrance. 5 minute walk from the entrance to the viewing deck of the falls. Falls are beautiful but nothing else to do or see at this stop.

Apparently you can do wet abseiling. I will need to find out as that could be epic.

Was nice to see the falls, but in my opinion, it's not really worth it. There are soooo many holes to slip in and would not recommend bringing a kid. However, I would love to do the absailing that is offered at the falls.
This was a pretty view. the front desk gentleman was friendly and communicated well, however it’s a little rundown. Not the safest place for kiddos as there are steep drops that aren’t fenced off. The place could do with a little bit of tlc. But all in all it was very pretty.

You can dip your feet in the water
There's a couple of waterfalls two witness at this location, main two rivers join to make one stream. The area has beautiful places for taking pictures and seeing marvels of nature. Entry fee per person are very small, about R15, for that you get a parking however there are no ablutions in the area. It is a bit rocky and slippery especially in summer season, it may not be suitable for kids to roam freely and people with disabilities.

This is a list of experiences to be cherished. The access road was in excellent condition. The restaurant offered great value, and the food and staff were truly exceptional. The caves were a magnificent sight, and our tour guide demonstrated expertise and genuine enthusiasm. We also enjoyed the zip lines, which were an unforgettable experience. Once again, the staff were outstanding, and the zip-lining provided breathtaking views.

The Sudwala Caves are absolutely beautiful! Inside was cool and magical, and I loved learning about the history and formations. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, which made the experience even better. Definitely a place worth visiting if you enjoy nature and exploring.
Very worth the trip! The cave tour was very interesting and our guide was great. It lasted about 45 minutes.
We also did the zip lining which was awesome!
The staff were professional, friendly and fun. The facilities were very well kept.
For these reasons we found the price of admission very reasonable.

Great activity to do with the family. Very friendly to all ages with an exception to walking through a small passage (difficult for the elderly as you need to crouch). Decently priced and Shadrack was an amazing tour guide. More than welcome to take pics and spend time in the caves even when the guide is done. Awesome gift shop, has zip lining and a beautiful crystal tour that's approx 5hrs long but definitely worth it.
This was a great shared experience with our kids.
Our guide, John, was an absolute star, answering any questions the young ones had, adding quirky comments with a clear passion for the tourism industry and his internship! Bonus points for also being a tour photographer :D
They have tours every 15 - 20 minutes, so the wait is not long at all.
The experiance was amazing we paid R140 per person and our tour guide John was fantastic we learned alot about the cave men and also about how the caves developed its really a must to see great south african history
A beautiful spot in South Africa to visit. The cave is interesting, stalactites, stalagmite’s, fossils, high ceilings and deep - 600m. You can go deeper to the crystal chamber to experience the crystal cave which is a 6km round trip by booking in advance.
Our guide was entertaining and informative, jokes were a bit cheesy, suited rather to school groups.
Top guides, very informative about the caves. Little bit cold 🥶 inside the caves. Great life experience.

The show was spectaculair, but the market a bit of a disappointment. I doubt they make this themselves as I saw the same souvenirs at other stands.
The good they served after the show is good. They're all very friendly. (A bit expensive though)
You can enjoy the shangaan heritage and the history of the soshangana (manikusi his real name) when he moved from the then natal to the southern part and defeated the people the and subjected them to his rule and called them Amashangana ( shangaans) and named them Magaza after his grandfather as they are today called MAGAZA
Ratio price/ experience doesn't justify at all this price. I still wonder if people are living there all year long or only during tourist visit... there are definitely some other places to visit before.
We went there on Sunday and the solace seemed ghosty. There was no one to help us or any notice that the place was closed. We let ourselves in and out without anyone coming to attend us
They deserve zero , the one rating is for the signage to get there. Once there, there was absolutely nothing and nobody. It was irritating

All I can say is Wow. This was one of the most incredible experiences I have had. Being do close to these amazing animals and actually seeing them up close and personal. They are truly amazing. My wife and I had a great time and will never forget it. The staff are very welcoming and very informative giving a person a quick lesson about elephants. They are amazing would suggest people go and support thes two elephants that were rescued.

This was an amazing experience. We were with a group (about 20 people) and our party was of 6. We learned about the elephants and were able to feel and touch them and then take a walk with them. It was amazing. The guides were well informed and patient.
For those who want a close up and personal experience with these gentle giants, the Elephant Sanctuary is the place to be as they have interactions with elephants where you can feed them, give them water and even touch them or hug them for those of you who are adventurous. The trainers are very friendly and give very detailed and interesting information about the elephants. This is a once in a lifetime experience and the price isn't bad as well plus children are free under a certain age. I highly recommend this experience for everyone as well as foreigners in the area as you won't regret it.
An experience I will never forget! The staff was so friendly and taught us so much! Today they made my dreams come true. My husband and I will definitely go back for another experience. It was great!
Elephant sanctuary is truly an authentic experience with the elephants, losts of thing regarding elephants I did not even know. There is a curio shop outside with beautiful things. They take photos and a movies and compile everything for you, you can take photos of your own. This place is highly recommended.
What a wonderful experience! This guide with the trainers are so dedicated and well informed. They have a vast knowledge of elephant behaviour and you can see they love and respect these animals.
One of the best life experiences that I will cherish. To have such a beauty of a God created creature standing next to you the size of a Cat truck was just phenomenal! I would recommend to anyone! Hazyview Elephant Sanctuary was very neat and well kept, the elephants look well cared for and healthy. the staff are knowledgeable and very friendly.

Come here to get your education about elephants and see up close these beautiful gentle giants! We came as part of our tour and the group wasn’t too big. First, you get a nice introduction of the elephants and see a bit of their personalities. The handlers tell of the elephants backgrounds and information on each individual elephant. Then you get to have a hands on experience with the elephants and can even go for a short walk with them (extra $). Overall, the handlers seemed to care extensively for the elephants and we really enjoyed getting to hear statistics about them! Definitely recommend if you are an animal lover.
It was a magical experience, the trainers educated us on the elephants, allowed us to touch the elephants with several photo opportunities. We went for a ride and it was mesmerizing to be able to ride an elephant in South Africa. A great and unforgettable adventure.

Being so close and personal with these incredible elephants was both humbling and unforgettable. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly care deeply for the animals. What a cool & fun experience this was!! The staff were great & we learned a lot about elephants. Getting to ride one was icing on the cake! I loved that we were able to touch different parts of the elephants. I recommend paying the extra money & putting them to bed!
Very informative session. We learnt a lot. It was evident that the staff cared about the elephants as seen in the way they spoke to them and about them. We loved the experience. Next time we will do the sunset ride.

I had an absolutely amazing time, we met Tembo upclose but the other lovely elephants(Lindiwe, Andile, Shamwari and the cute bull named after a tree I forgot his name 🙃😘) showed us some amazing tricks they learned. It was an educational experience — the team allowed us to also ask Tembo to do some tricks for us. Experiencing these majestic creatures so close and even getting to hug them was amazing. I got the 1hr interaction which comprised of about 30m learning and 30m playtime with Tembo. 😍

Coming from someone who is mild afraid of reptiles as a whole I had a fun time — the interaction helped clear some fears for me and seeing these snakes, and lizards. Learning about the diet, and some more characteristics made them a lot less scary.
The best part was getting to touch what I thought would be a scary scaly creature turned out to be the best part of my afternoon. The Boas 🐍 were so beautiful, so cooling lol it was a hot day and the girls were so friendly too they love being handled. They were not even scaly at all just oh so cute and smooth.
Saw some iguanas and loads more lizards. And beautiful spiders too, some geckos and frogs. 🐸 🦎 🕷
The crocs were also cool to see, the Nile crocs are in their 40s and they are huge. Both them and the alligators had recently had babies and we got to see the babies. 🐊
They had way more snakes than what we expected so it was a nice surprise and there are detailed info boards at every snake and spider etc which was nice you could see what's venomous and what's not and whats deadly and what not and details about habitats diets and more so it was nice
Awesome, it surprised us how much animals they actually have, looks like they are well treated and kept. Some cool local species but also species from around the world!

As we stopped in the parking area we could hear the waterfall after all the rain they had. Walking down the walkway through the trees we could feel the fine mist from the falls falling on us and as we turned to the view point we were blown away by what we saw. The water was gushing down. It was super cool! This place is beautiful and affordable.

I called i'langa mall offices today and asked them until what time dischem was open today, on Heritage day. The lady responded that all the shops were open until 17.00hrs. I arrived at dischem around 15.05 only to find that the shutters were down. Asked the guard if they were closed and he said " Yes come back tomorrow'. I then said that the mall mentioned that all shops were closing at 5.00 pm. There was a lady from dischem standing next to the guard and she retorted that I must take this up with the mall management as they close at 15.00 hrs. I then called the office at the mall again and she reiterated that Dischem was supposed to close only at 5.00pm and that she would take this up with the store manager. Don't know what transpired after that. Seems like the mall is run like the wild west and there are no uniform rules regarding timing. Each store will open and close when they feel like and shoppers drive all the way based on the wrong information by mall management.
Conveniently located ,very nice place to shop enjoy ice skating,movies,arcade and bumper cars.I'langa Mall also offers a variety of places to eat from Barbeque/Burgers ,to Italian ,to Mexican,to Mediterranean,to Burgers and yes we have Starbucks and Mug n Bean for coffee lovers .Very nice open layout with a mountain view at a distance.It also offers easy access to the N4 which is an interstate highway.Also check out different events at Mbombela Stadium.

Chimp Eden is an incredible place doing vital work in chimpanzee conservation and rehabilitation. Visiting the sanctuary is both educational and moving—you get to learn about the individual chimps’ stories, many of whom were rescued from heartbreaking situations. The guided tour is informative, respectful, and well-paced, offering a close (yet safe) look at these amazing animals in a natural and peaceful setting. The staff are clearly passionate and knowledgeable, and their care for the chimps shines through. It’s a must-visit if you’re in the area—perfect for families, animal lovers, or anyone wanting to support ethical wildlife efforts. Truly humbling and unforgettable.
We took the late tour and were the only guests, which made it a wonderfully private experience. Our guides, Conell and Martin, were absolutely amazing, so passionate and knowledgeable. I had the most amazing experience there today. It was so eye opening to hear the stories these beautiful animals have been through, my heart was broken to hear how horrible humans are. But visiting today made my whole heart feel full. Seeing how beautiful and happy these chimps are and the amazing work all the lovely people have put in to make a beautiful safe and happy environment for them. There is just something about the Genesis Route.... I love driving up the mountains and stopping along the way to enjoy the magnificent views. The higher one drives the more they get to enjoy. Bring a cooler box, meat, snacks and whatever else you like and enjoy a braai with your loved ones.
This a great place for hiking. If you are a geologist and you have never been to this place. Check it out it has some of the oldest and well preserved rocks on Earth!!

Barberton is named after the Barber brothers, but this museum has them as the Barberton brothers. There are bizarre displays all over the place, many not labelled. Cardboard cutouts showing hominin evolution? Possibly - but who knows? And what is the significance to Barberton? Stuffed birds in glass cases, not labelled, and down on the floor where one has to kneel to see them? What is going on? Is this museum seeking a cult status as the worst designed in the world? Not only that, but the several annexes (Stopforth House, Belhaven etc) will not let you in without a ticket from the main museum. There is no indication of this anywhere on the brochures issued by the museum. But when you ask for a ticket at the main museum, they direct you back to Stopforth House! School kids would do a better job of running this circus.

A modest little museum. Entrance is free. Three rooms of exhibits. Not terribly well curated in terms of telling a story, and some exhibits are unexplained. One room is dedicated to the anti-apartheid struggle, and comprises only posters of the key individuals with a description of their role. Another room is more or less about the history of Barberton and the mining. The main room is a mix of geological and anthropological exhibits.

Playing at Skukuza Golf Club was an unforgettable experience! This bucket list course gives you the rare chance to play golf right in the middle of Kruger National Park. The layout is challenging, with some tough holes. Plus, seeing wildlife on the drive to the course makes it even more unique.
The hospitality is top-notch. Our waitress was warm and attentive, and the staff overall were friendly and helpful. We had breakfast and lunch on the deck, and the food and coffee were fantastic—a perfect spot to relax and take in the view.
As for the course itself, while the recent hollow tining on the greens was expected, I had hoped for better fairway and rough conditions for the price. It could use a bit more care, but that didn’t take away from the overall experience. Highly recommend booking ahead and aiming for the last morning tee time to make the most of your journey through the park (keep in mind the 40km/h limit).
Overall, it’s a must-do for any golfer, a truly memorable experience that I’d recommend to everyone.
Played some golf at the wildest course on Earth—literally. The 9th hole is a cheeky little 140m par 3… over a dam full of actual hippos and crocodiles. No fences. No nets. Just you, your ball, and a reminder that nature always wins.
Miss the green short? You’re not fishing that ball out unless you’ve got a death wish and a spare leg.
On the plus side, I played fast. It’s amazing how quickly you line up a putt when you can hear hippos grunting behind you. Would 100% play again—assuming I survive the first round.
Bring extra balls. And maybe a life insurance policy. 🐊🏌️♂️🦛

There is major construction work throughout the entire course & it was practically unplayable throughout the entire round. Rocks, sand, diggers smashing things.
There were NO wildlife because of all the construction. It was just a big fat scam.
So deeply disappointed - extended our day safari and really regret visiting this place. Avoid at all costs.
Our whole family got food poisoning from the restaurant and were all sick for the rest of our trip. After other tables left, the staff lingered to clean up and the monkeys were sitting on the tables, licking the glasses and trying to bite open the ketchup. None of it was cleaned up afterwards or even sprayed with a sanitizer. It’s such a shame since it’s our favorite place to take an afternoon breather in the Kruger. Even though the food was good and the view even better, we will not be visiting there again for the risk of getting sick.

Beautiful place and very tranquil. Service at the Rec Center was poor. The manager on duty, Michelle blantly ignored us on the 8th of July. We asked the waiter for a table that Michelle had just tidied, and she said she first had to ask Michelle if we could sit there. We stood around waiting for almost 20 to 30 minutes and eventually left. We felt extremely unwelcome.

Great and challenging golf course which is both scenic and exciting.
This was a bucket list course for me, and I’m glad I played it and brought my clubs all the way from Australia and stayed in a local lodge to get access. That being said I was extremely disappointed in the experience I thought I would get given the price tag of R7500 per round. It is expensive even on the global stage, and for that price one would reasonably expect top tier treatment and golfing conditions, we had neither unfortunately.
The course had no internet access and as a result we could not buy drinks or shop at the proshop as you could only pay cash on the day. Upon arrival, we were pointed to the range and the first tee, there was no one at the range, no starter, no staff on the course. Not quite the top tier golf course experience I would have expected. The greens were also in a really bad state, more in line with a local course than a top tier championship course, but no mention is made of it at all.
Look it is a beautiful course, it is nice to play, the experience looking out over the Kruger is amazing, but the service and last touches that would make it worth the experience and price just wasn’t there. Maybe it was the day I was there, maybe not, but would not recommend it unless you know it would be in mint condition.

I recently visited Aloe Afrika Spa and had an absolutely pleasant experience. The spa has views overlooking the crocodile river. We even had a lion sighting.
My BNS massage was expertly performed by Hloni. She is friendly and experienced. I would highly recommend this spa to anyone looking for a truly relaxing and luxurious experience.

Wonderful visit to Matsamo Cultural Village near the border of Eswatini. Swazi culture is explained and celebrated at this traditional village. The tour started with a song and dance performance. The vocal harmonies will give you goosebumps and their voices are so powerful - no microphones needed here! A small group of us got a special encore performance of Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika the South African national anthem after other groups had left. We were then shown inside the main hut - where the village grandmother lives who is the matriarch of the community.
We were then served a delicious buffet lunch with an array of hot foods in clay pots and an extensive salad bar. The condiments bar was next level (see photo!) This visit was nothing short of moving! It was authentic and beautiful. The dances, 🎶 musical voices, and hospitality makes this a must do stop along the way❣️Bring cash as the card machine sometimes goes down at times and they deserve any donation you feel loved to give.

Wow wow wow! Visiting Matsamo Cultural Village is an absolute treat for the senses. Starting off with a tour of the homestead, you’ll be given thorough insight into Swati traditions, culture and family structure. We had an amazing guide, called Lindiwe who had us hanging on her lips. The highlight of the experience is unfoubtedly the dancing and singing at the end. Do not underestimate this community’s talents. They are artists of the highest order offering pitch perfect performances!

Food was nice - we had the steak special that is a 300g rump, a handful of fat cut chips and 6 and a half onion rings. The meal also came with draught. The Stella Artois was so flat you could iron clothes on it.
It took 45 mins to get to us which started testing my patience, especially because the place wasn’t as busy as I’m sure it can get.
Views were lovely. The hot sauce - 7/10.

This golf course is a real gem , the fairways are well maintained and lush. The undulating greens can be very challenging and if you are in the area, this is a worthy experience.
After your game, take some time to enjoy a meal and a drink on the deck. The view over the river is very relaxing and you may be lucky enough to spot some wildlife. Enjoy.

Interesting museum - well worth the trip. Gives a good glimpse of Mozambique as South Africa’s neighbouring country and the influence it had on bringing down apartheid. Being around the debris of the plane makes all the book knowledge very tangible.
One of the historical places you can visit to understand the politics in Africa, place clean and best tour guides. Road to the monument is adventurous. You need to have cash for a tour, no speed point, no shop monument it’s a a stand alone in an open field.
A unique museum and monument to this event place of Mozambique and South African history. The roads are very good to the monument/museum. It is remote but worth the trip. There is no food etc at the museum so stock up before you go but plenty of clean toilets.

The Maputo Central Railway Station is a charming colonial-style train station that was named the third most beautiful in the world by Time magazine in 2015. A must visit if you’re in Maputo. Historic train station that takes you back to the bygone romance of train travel. Visit the museum and learn about the history of one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. Loved the architecture. Across the station are some excellent examples of Pancho Guedes architecture.
A nice old train station built in colonial style. There are a lot of information telling the story of the building and the history of Mozambique. You can stroll around and discover the building and tracks and with a little luck a train will fill the station with life. In front of the building the busses spit out a lot of people and a small market has established. It’s full and crowded outside but quiet inside.
A definite must to visit if/when you're in Maputo....as you walk in you may be met by Charles who will offer to be your guide, for a tip, and you can choose to accept or decline. If you accept, Charles personal stories of how he went to study economics in Cuba, sponsored by the, then, socialist government, before being called back early, before graduating and has worked as a guide at the station since then....very interesting. The station is beautiful and you can walk around and visit the historic restaurant for food or drink - a very cool place. You can also pay 100 MTZ to enter the museum, which is well worth it and walk along the interior of the old Belgian train. It's, cool and relaxed and conjures up images of a colonial past.
Designed in French Beaux-Arts style and completed in 1916, Maputo's central railway station is testament to a time when the railways were at their highpoint early 1900s. Train stations in those days almost had the same prestigious status as a cathedral. Those times are clearly over. The final blow for the Mozambican railways came after independence in 1975, when an exodus of qualified personnel took place and the railway system almost collapsed.
Though the station is still operational (three lines for transport of passengers remain) it is not longer a mass transportation hub. People in Mozambique prefer to take buses. The main bus station Junta is way out of town.
A stunning, stunning railway station filled with historical value and endless photo opportunities. Even if you aren't catching a train anywhere, this is one stop that's certainly worth a visit.
What a beautiful, quaint railway station! They have preserved the history while still making it modern. Everyone is helpful here. You can buy your ticket at the station. We were there off peak a d it didn't take long to get a ticket.

Interesting house with evidently lots of history. Unfortunately it is neither beautiful nor accessible to the public, but while you’re in the area it is well worth having a look.
A house made of iron prefabricated in Belgium parachuted in the capital of a Portugese colony in the tropics! It was meant to serve as a residence of the Portugese governor, but ever since 1892 the year it was erected offices went in and out. It was just too hot inside.
Perhaps a good example of how ignorant the initial Portugese rulers were about local conditions. For me a surprise that Gustave Eiffel did the design. Was the man as backward as his clients or was he just not interested in far-away territories?
There was an interesting exhibition of paintings in the hot house.

Didn’t go inside as we were in a rush, but interesting none the less. Designed by Gustav Eiffel for the then governor of Lorenzo Marques, even though Eiffel never been to Mozambique, the Iron House is made of iron... not at all practical in the cities tropical climate. The governor never ended up living there! There’s a craft shop that’s also worth a visit and the impressive statue of Samora Machel across the traffic circle.
Interesting place to visit, in the area where the main, historic tourist attractions are. Iron house for the governor to live in.....wow! Who's crazy idea was that - another colonial mistake, but fascinating all the same.
Seems like it could be a tourist trap but is actually quite an interesting building with a fascinating history. The whole area surrounding the Iron House is actually very interesting with much on offer.
It was an interesting building but closed so we could only look around on the outside and through the windows.

It’s not bad for 50 MT. You can get a quick history of colonial time in Maputo. If you want to learn, you have to read a lot because there’s no tour guide there. You do the visit yourself. There’s a good view on top. There are descriptions of what type of armaments where used, I advise to read that. There’s the history health department.
Good to visit. Price of the ticket is more than resonable ... is true, not much to see, but is worth visiting. No souvenirs to buy, and not so much interest in the people administrating the museum to promote the place.
This is a museum of military history built many centuries. Suitable history enthusiasts and those wanting to learn about the history of Mozambique. It is access with small fee of 50MT per person
The fort is quite interesting although a bit lacking in historical detail about it all. It's now overseen by the university so I would've hoped for a bit more...... nonetheless there is a bit of history, lots of guns and some historical models. Most of all it's a nice, quiet place in the centre of town for reflection and peace. Staff are v friendly and only 50MZN entry.

Of course you must not miss the old Portuguese Fortress of Maputo. It is actually quite small and can be covered in less than an hour.
They've got some pretty old cannons here which are neat to look at. Not exactly the funnest part of town to visit or park in, but you've got to do it at least once! There's some really interesting and informative exhibits explaining the formation of Maputo city over the last 500 years
Myself and two children went to explore the fort. We paid the entry fee which would have been a good deal if the place was maintained properly. The garden was full of smashed glass, plastic bottles, plastic bags, cut offs of traditional African fabric. The youngest one went to sit on a bench for a photo and stepped on a pin that went through her sandle and into her foot. Luckily she had her tetanus. Also all the spaces inside the fort walls had been locked off. Apart from that it was quite interesting. I do recommend going but not untill it is sorted. It would only take 1 hour to clean the place up but no-one seems to be interested. We got our money back and an apology was made.

The Museu de Historia Natural is a museum showcasing taxidermy animals and videos on local eco-systems in a grand, Portuguese-style hall from 1911. Despite being an interesting attraction to visit, the exhibits are not well-maintained nor restored, with many of the taxidermy animals decaying due to the lack of proper care. The admission fee is 100MZN (R25) pp as of February 2022.

The building itself is beautiful. The collections are what you would see in a Natural History Museum elsewhere with the exception of the elephant foetuses preserved in formaldehyde which are fascinating.
I used to come here as a child all the time; it had been a few years since my last visit, and I wasn't dissapointed. Everything was exactly as I remembered it, which isn't really the best thing, as some information was outdated (the evolutionary tree, that sort of thing), but it is a magical place, and truly somewhere one must visit when in Maputo.
The building is beautiful, but sadly, there is no wheelchair accessibility; a flight of stairs inside, too. Some of the taxidermy is a little funny, but a lot of effort and care went into the placement of the animals.
The museum is a nice attraction to visit. It's very sad that the exhibits are not being maintained and restored. Many of the taxidermy animals are decaying. The museum is very hot side as there is no aircons that is working. Entrance is 100MZN (R25) pp - February 2022 price. The gardens outside is not being maintained is has lots of rubbish. There are some dinosaur replicas with info plates next to them.
I would recommend for anyone visiting Maputo for the first time.
Nice natural history museum. May not be the largest there is, but the guided tour is informative and entertaining, especially for children. There's a lot of information about Mozambican animals.
The exhibits were interesting but some rooms or walkways were not accessible due to maintenance needing to be done. We found the outdoor dinosaurs fun and some of the indoor exhibits very interesting though. Worth the visit, just wish it was in better shape.

In addition to shopping, FEIMA also features restaurants with an extensive menu that includes both local and international cuisine.
Very nice place to buy souvenirs. A tip: don't buy from the first sellers after entering, they will be quite aggressive in trying to sell, but there are hidden gems inside the fair, e.g. Ms. Felicia, who herself sews amazing stuff (clothes, bags, purses) from African print fabric, very much high quality, also other sellers who really make their stuff themselves instead of reselling Chinese merch. Be prepared to bargain and use mosquito spray, they do bite there even during the day.

The food at the Artistas Restaurant was amazing and the vendors who displayed their crafts were of a very high standard. I most particularly loved the lady who crocheted large table clothes. Just so beautiful!!
The place is ok with several options of typical handicrafts, sourvenirs, paints, etc.
What is bothering are the locals insisting to buy something, which give no time to really focus in some interesting stuff, just want to go away...this is exactly the opposite of their intentions.
I had mixed feeling about this place. The park is nice for a walk and many shops and artworks here and there, many local made which is nice. But some are just touristic style of souvenirs.
What is disturbing is that sellers just pop up in front of you and offer their stuff. Some just follow you and keep shouting asking you to get a "free look" that ends with a story about how much they need your money to leave for food/kids/etc..
I bought few things I liked, some shop keepers are really decent. But it felt disturbing and unconformable being stalked while walking from others.
One thing more. Always negotiate the price, initial prices are super inflated. But keep in mind that you are supporting these people so be a bit kind too!
In general prices here are cheaper than those cross you in the streets in other touristic areas.
Experience was good, the place to be for souvenirs, art crafts, fridge magnets, etc.

An amazing fair of restaurants. Bars. And lovely things to buy.
Loved the plants for sale! Endless stalls of folks selling trinkets, art, wood carvings. Tons of souvenir shopping as well as fabric. A few choices for a great lunch/cold beer/snack. The merchants were anxious to show you their items but not overly pushy
