Big warning... The road there and up the mountain is rough, so be prepared and have a high car. Other than that, all I can begin this review is with the word 'wow'. Learning about the true side of South African history is an eye opener. The hike was good and maintained, given the evident low budget. The bathrooms are very clean. The view was just stunning. I wish this site was given more awareness, as this is definitely a gem with visiting. You will spend a few hours there and it is advised to bring water, snacks and a good pair of shoes. Despite the very rough a dodge path up by car, it was definitely worthwhile. Cost(cash only): R40 adult R20 pensioner

Very educational battlesight of the battle of spieoenkop translated in a few languages to accomodate all. Various graves marking fallen soldiers and semi preserved trenches. Makes for interesting reading and worth a visit! Not far from bergville and very close to the N3, its worth a detour and if you jave time to spare or just want to take a break and take in some history.

Very well kept area, clean and beautiful. To go back to you roots is very important so please visit places such as these as much as you can to honor and also learn.

The young lady at the gate was very friendly , welcoming and very helpful . She explained a bit about the trail her directions were clear. We had a good hike from point A till the end. Beautiful view . If you want to visit please ensure you have cash and you're wearing comfortable shoes, sunscreen is a must , camp chairs and water a necessity after the 2 hours walk around .

Bad maintained for such a historic site

Great experience, just the road thorwards the site isn't suited for lower vehicles. Remember to take cash for entrance at spioenkop

R35 to enter cash only, dirt road more for SUV, 4x4, bakkies or cars with higher ground clearance. Not to say a normal car will not get you there, just slower. Forth the trip up and worth the walk around the battlefield.

The reserve is beautiful, and there is plenty of wildlife around. Main attraction is the camping and boating on the dam. The ablutions could be better maintained but are serviceable and clean with toilet paper replaced daily, and there is hot water for showers. The campsites are mostly clean, but the grass is a little long in areas. It's worth taking something to clear your site, just in case. Garbage was collected daily, and the honorary officers drive through the camps fairly often, which was nice to see. The electrical points could be in better condition. Some are missing their weather covers but do work. The water is listed as drinkable, but I would take your own. On a whole, Spieonkop dam is a pleasurable experience.

Beware the road isn't labeled. It's a long off road up a mountain. Breathing taking, it's an adventure. When you start fearing you can't see anything keep driving. At the top of the gate entrance is R35pp and you given a map. The most breath taking views. Adventure Awaits!!!

I had a lovely experience at Spioenkop Nature Reserve. The dam is lovely for fishing. There are also wild game such as giraffe, kudu and wildebeest. Ablution facilities were also clean. The roads are not tarred and some parts can be quite tricky without a 4x4 vehicle but if you just going to the dam there is no need for a 4x4 vehicle.

Fantastic place for a wild getaway. Campsites are surrounded by wildebeest, zebra, impala, and all manor of wildlife. Ablutions are functional and clean, plenty hot water. Park roads are better suited to suv/bakkies

A small museum that packs a punch about the Ladysmith Siege and some context around the Anglo-Boer conflict. Some of the information jumps a bit from the previous display making it a bit confusing to follow. Signage in Afrikaans and English. Spent about 90 minutes reading and viewing all the displays.

This museum houses so much history about Ladysmith town and the battle fields around the area. If you are in and around town, you can visit the museum for as little as R14 for adults and R5.50 for children and pensioners.

I spent the morning in Ladysmith. With nothing to do but wait for the missus's car to be ready, I decided to visit the Siege Museum. How very interesting, and it was just R9 for pensioners. There are so many stories being told in the displays, but my favourite was about the three Long Tom field guns the Boers used. Apparently, one of them was damaged and they had to cut the end off the barrel, so shortening it. It still worked, so they sent it to the siege of Mafikeng, where it was named 'Die Jood'.

Decent museum with a lot of interesting pieces. Good for adults and kids alike. Worth the visit

Decided to visit Ladysmith as we love historical places. Never again. Could not get close to the town hall / museum as there were big crowds of people (perhaps grants were being paid today?)....but no social distancing, very few masks being worn and no parking at all.

Still kept in a good condition and a must visit. Great to read about the history of battles and pictures of all the battles available. Locals will warn you outside in the street to hide your valuables for pick-pocketers.

Lots of history, text and loads more actual items and relics from the Boer and Anglo wars. however, old run down museum. takes about 1 hour to walk through and skimming bits of text of history without reading everything.

What an amazing adventure with such incredible creatures. I highly recommend you come and experience it first hand.

Beautiful Big 5 game reserve. Excellent sightings. Stayed at The Springbok Lodge and had a fantastic weekend. We went on 4 game drives and saw either cheetah or lions on every drive. Highly recommend this game reserve.

Stayed at lions valley lodge for 4 nights. Had great food, great service. Had amazing sightings. Would recommend to anyone wanting a great experience and is will to pay for what you get.

We stayed in a Private Lodge within the Reserve. It is not a self drive Reserve.

Im happy that this is a game preserve. The animals are in their own habitat and can behave as such. The preserve carries out meaningful projects to keep the animals healthy and protect them. I won't include rhino pics as another way to protect them.

What a lekker place. Staff is what make it amazing. 12 zips crazy hike back to the clouds at the end but all very much worth it.

Awesome experience at the Canyons Drakensberg. Our guides were well trained and kept us safe and informed throughout the forests. The views you experience while ziplining is so beautiful. This was our 3rd time Ziplining at the Canyons and we only now found out about the loyalty program where if you do it 3 times the 4th is free. Sadly we missed out on the first 2 but now we are ready for the next. We have done the one in Swaziland and in Tsitsikamma and this ons is definitely our favourite

My son started grade 4 in January 2025 coming from an elite private school in Johannesburg. I can say without hesitation that DBCS is the most well rounded and wholesome school that I have ever encountered. Their approach to education is how I have always envisioned it but could never find. Education at DBCS stretches far beyond the classroom to experiencing nature and the great outdoors on a regular basis, and boys are required to exercise discipline and have a personal work ethic of the highest order. Our son is truly blessed to have the kind of foundation that is being fostered at DBCS.

Attended their Wednesday afternoon concert last week, and it was just tremendous. The choir is definitely one of the jewels of South Africa.

An experience of a lifetime! I was completely away by the talented young men who were able to truly sing in harmony. If you are ever in the Drakensburg, make it a goal of yours to attend a show.

Stunning Bushman Paintings at Kamberg. Loved my stay at Molweni.

Very pleasant reserve with well maintained trails. The staff member at the reception was friendly and explained all the day hikes available. Although we didn’t stay there, the chalets look like they are in decent condition. Note there are two daily guided hikes up to the San rock art at Game Pass Shelter: 9am and 11am. Beware of kids throwing stones at vehicles in Thendele Village just before the park entrance.

Came for a family weekend getaway with children and found the accommodation cosy, neat and clean. Having the opportunity to fly fish and hike in such a beautiful area is a wonderful experience.

Roman Baths - Kamberg Nataure Reserve If you in this area i highly recommend you do the hike to the Roman Baths, approximately 14k hike (there and back) easy to moderate. Look out for the arrows as they can be easily missed. I suggest you try org a map from the office. Leave early so you can spend the day at the baths. Well worth it. You can jump into plunge pools and soak up the amazing backdrop of mountain's. Loved it.

Beautiful day in the Kamberg Nature Reserve. Our park officer, was so amazing and friendly. Went out of her way to make sure got there without getting our vehicle stuck.... in mud situation. Easy hike for the young and old, lovely waterfalls and rock pools and not to mention the clean crisp water, so so refreshing 😀

Beautiful area, track a bit overgrown, markings weren't good so download walk beforehand but still worth the visit. We walked to the Roman Baths.

Did a day trip from Durbs and got there within 2.5hrs. We did the waterfall hike - 4kms round trip, with my 60+ mum and 7 yo nephew. So it’s quite manageable for folk of all ages. The drive into kamberg is testing … the road outside Nottingham is littered with potholes. Then there’s the 18km gravel road in which can take up to 30mins. We did it in a front wheel drive sedan but would recommend a vehicle with higher clearance and all wheel drive; see pic with the water-logged areas which can trap a vehicle. The hike itself was stunning especially the waterfall and pools. The path was recently cleared which makes for easy walking. We spotted a rinkhals on the way. The manager of the lodge was such a lovely lady. We’ll be back.

The Belgian Waffle was good, the ice cream let it down a little. That said, the chocolate covered strawberries, although expensive are exceptional. We went back the next day for more. I do think that plain the Belgian chocolate is best. The other stuff is decent too.

Love this little gem!!! What a wonderful and cute experience to share with a friend or even with your partner. We also loved that you get to mould and take home everything that you don't finish. The staff were very friendly and the toppings and chocolate was dreamy!!!. Definitely worth a try

Such a cozy little spot in the Midlands! Did the chocolate dipping with my boyfriend and was pleasantly surprised to find out that they use QUALITY chocolate. You get to choose between white and milk chocolate for your dipping then they bring out a bunch of items you can choose to dip! Prices are calculated by weight so you can really go wild. If you have any left over chocolate you can also have it moulded. They have a bunch of other hand crafted chocolates that you can buy (also have some cute things for gifts) I didnt try the chocolate shot thing but will definitely come again to do it! Highly recommend for all ages.

The moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by the rich, indulgent scent of chocolate. I loved it. The people inside were just as lovely as the aroma: welcoming, kind, and clearly proud of what they do. Chocolate Heaven lives up to its name. The chocolate is crafted right next door, in the building beside the shop. I settled in with a coffee and took in the peaceful view over the small dam at The Junction, the centre where it’s all located. It’s the kind of place you remember. I’ll definitely be back — whether it’s to treat my beautiful woman to something special, or to grab a voucher for a friend who needs a birthday present.

Try any of the Chocolate with nuts, its to die for. Would love to do the chocolate dipping experiance if I go again.

This is an absolutely beautiful place. Super relaxed atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. There were 2 lakes with ducks. The sun was out and the birds were singing, they have beer on tap and gin which I found quite wonderful. Drinks are beautifully presented and garnished and taste out of this world. They have a variety of locally brewed beers which is fantastic as well as gin, there are also bottles of this you can buy. Food is also available. The outdoor seating creates such a vibrant and relaxing atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend this place for beer and gin lovers.

This Brewery has to be on your bucket list when visiting the Midlands. Such a gorgeous setting and the pub is so unique. Do a beer and gin tasting and then decide what you want to get because they do have so many options. I had the gin and ginger and the blueberry gin and they were both delightful. Service was friendly and professional. Atmosphere is relaxed. There is a merch shop selling craft beer and clothing / keepsakes. Would highly recommend.

Nice atmosphere with a deck and umbrellas and seating outside. Beer and gin tasting available. My husband loves their craft beer range. He says they even have season craft beers. I didn't drink when we were there but I still enjoyed the place and the service.

This is a must see and visit location for the old world charm of a brewery/pub with a cosy fire roaring in the background as you indulge in a craft beer or gin. Alan our bartender was amazing. Take a drive down to the lake on the property, you will thank me later.

Nestled in the shady grounds of the elegant Rawdons Hotel in the heart of the Midlands Meander, you’ll find a thriving independent brewery which has long been delighting locals and visitors with a range of naturally brewed ales and lagers. Unfortunately it was a quick stop for a Pie-Eyed Possum Pilsner (crisp, dry pilsner highlighted by the noble saag hops) but this great venue never disappoints. A quint and comfortable setting on hotel grounds are absolutely serene. The pub has an authentic English pub feel & the taproom deck in the afternoon sunshine is very relaxing. Will definitely be back to tuck into the various beers.

We had a good experience doing beer tasting. The beer menu explaining all of the different type of beers was really funny and intelligent and the staff was friendly. Unfortunately when we visited the bar they didn't have coffee or the beer that we wanted because they were waiting for delivery, which is understandable. Overall this is a really beautiful area.

A great adventure. The staff is amazing, I was alone so it was basically a private adventure, I had tons of fun. Their views while you zip line were stunning, the beautiful canopy so full and green. Perfect for first timers or regulars.

What a fun, spontaneous and adrenalin filled adventure! A definite for anyone! We phoned on the Friday morning and were kitted up by 11am! Such wonderful, fun, friendly, reassuring and encouraging staff! A very memorable experience we will never forget!

Took my Grandson(7) for some adrenaline activation. I just arrived around 12:00, no booking. The next trip was 14:00. We decided to wait but you will appreciate that a 7 year old doesn't really have patience. He played on the jungle gym and then we had some toasted sandwiches from the restaurant. Really inexpensive I must say but very tasty. 3 other people who had booked for 14:00 were there waiting. They offered to take us on an unscheduled trip at about 12:30. What a wonderful experience. The guides were really great. I think there were 12 different zip lines from the top to the bottom. It took around 2 hours to get through all 12. Some long some short but definitely an unforgettable experience. Oh yes my grandson was first in line and agrees.

Great day out if you love indigenous forest and the birds that go with it. Canopy tour doesn't offer many birding opportunities but the forest is spectacular. Trails from the cafe garden at R80/person (self-guided) are brilliant for birding.... lots of specials. Could spend all day there. Tour guides are very good at what they do on the ziplines, and reception staff are endlessly patient and helpful. Will keep going back

What an amazing adventure for a team building. We had 37 employees attend the canopy tour of which only 3 had done it before,all 37 did the tour and absolutely loved it.Hats off to all the staff as they were brilliant all the way from the first zip to the last one.Even with a large crowd they were very professional and it was a no mess no fuss experience. Went for lunch at this establishment and my wife and i ordered Herb encrusted pork chop which tasted like a plain fried pork with no flavor,it was super dry, she asked for some of my feta to add to give some taste, the mash did not have any flavor as well and Needed salt just to give some flavor. I ordered the Snoked bacon and avo with feta tramezenni, this had flavor from the avo and feta, the Smoked bacon was just a small piece of bacon cut into tiny pieces of which had no Smoke or bacon because it was cut almost into what I thought was grated flavorless bacon. The waitress and staff were not friendly at all and looked like we were bothering them. I really thought the Piggly Wiggly I saw online would make a statement with their friendly staff and food that would blow us away but alas this is a sorely disappointing experience. I spent more than R450 just on this two meals and a Wimpy breakfast would have been more flavourful and worthwhile. I think if I went back I would just have coffee and leave but doubt I ever will.

I had the battered fish and vegetables. This was a blend dish.No flavor and the fish was not fresh. I asked the waitress for some chilli or peri peri and was given Tobasco. This was complementary. I was told to pay additional costs for chilli or peri peri. The restaurant spends some money for the American product at a premium price. I raised it with the manager and he just did not bother even about the fish quality. I will bypass them in the future.

What can a person say that hasn't already been said about this fantastic place and it's amazing food. A real gem of a restaurant on the Midlands Meander (30mins from Pietermaritzburg). It is in my opinion one of the nicest places to take your family and friends to during the holidays or on a weekend for a lovely meal. After you have had a delightful meal you can visit many wonderful shops and boutiques for the odd ornament, clothing or jewelry item, work of art, handmade furniture and many other accessories. The outdoor environment is clean, peaceful and not to mention very beautiful. I highly recommend the Piggly Wiggly Coffee Shop and the cluster of other shops to visit on your next trip to the Meander. Do not forget to pop in at the Chocolate Heaven for a sweet delight.

We went for coffee and unfortunately had a few disappointing parts to our dining experience. We got a red cappuccino, a gourmet milk shake, a milkshake, a smoothie and a normal cappuccino. My small milkshake was R45 then came in just a drinking glass! My partner got a small gourmet milkshake that ended up being R55 when we were told R45 when the 500ml one was R65 which then also came in just a drinking glass, such a disappointing size then they took an extra 10 minutes to bring out the red cappuccino because they forgot it off the order. Very disappointing trip.

Excellent place and pet friendly for our pooch with a bunch of items to choose from the doggy menu. Great ambience with a roaring fire on a cold wet day. The coffees were superb!! Would highly recommend a visit.

A warm smile and crackling log fire greeted us, including the dog, on a cold summer afternoon. The food was tasty and the portions were more than enough. I was delighted they had a gluten-free option for my toasted sandwich. The menu even has items for dogs so Miley, our SPCA rescue, was treated to some dog biscuits with peanut butter. The coffee was just what the doctor ordered after a long weekend of moving and travelling. Thank you for the great service!

A very small attraction. The museum shows the history of Nelson Mandelas journey, you can see similar experience at the Aparthied museum in Johannesburg, which is so much bigger, however the outside sculpture is quite moving if you can see the portrait, not everyone can. Unfortunately the staff are not firendly or welcoming which is sad. Great for people that love history and want to understand the SA political journey to freedom. If you happen to be in the area, visit it.

The Mandela Capture Site is a powerful tribute, visited with the family and were truly moved by the iconic sculpture of Nelson Mandela. The museum may be small, but the experience is rich with history and heart.

It was informative albeit a short trip. Loved hearing the original audios from key events in the struggle movement. You may pay for just visiting the sculpture or include a visit inside the museum. Loved the sculpture, very creative work from the artist. I do wish they would more attractions to the place. Maybe something to make it more appealing to little children.

The sculpture is so creative and beautiful. You can see Mandela’s face from a specific angle. We didn’t go inside the museum as we went to the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg, I hear this is a smaller version of that.

Definitely worth the visit to hear and see history unfold how South Africa fought for all men to be equal. Nice coffee shop. Freedom walk Definitely walk to the end for a surprise 😮

Great stop with staff who really add value. At the entrance we got a quick, thoughtful intro to the art piece and the best way to approach it so the portrait “appears” just right. Inside, the museum team answered questions simply and recommended a short loop that matched our time. They even flagged a coffee spot with a view of the sculpture so we could sit and take it in. Friendly, informed, and not pushy—perfect.

The place was nice. For a former history student, it was somewhat something we had learnt, it’s just that you are now looking it through a glass and it’s summarised. I liked the videos on the walls and the car on the entrance. The statue was a bit far from the museum. It was a good exercise. I wish the museum glass was in an upright position and we don’t have to bend to see the words cause it gets tiring.

Caroline is a fantastic host with many interesting anecdotes. The cottage is rustic but spacious including everything you need. The many animals, including pigs, horses, dogs, chickens and a duck provide an endless source of entertainment. The walk to the top of the hill provides panoramic views of the countryside. And it's pet-friendly.

I had an absolute lovely time riding Stormy, he’s such a good (big) boy. Having snacks along the way was quite a challenge but like I said he’s a big boy. Caroline was such a sweetheart and the absolute friendliest person and guide I have ever met, I will definitely recommend Stormy Hill as a nice day adventure with a loved one and I will most definitely visit them again!

Caroline gave a fantastic guided horse ride to my kid sister and her best friend. They both thoroughly enjoyed themselves and I felt comfortable leaving them in her care. You can see that Caroline really cares for her horses and the pack of rescue dogs that accompanied the girls on the ride are super cute. Great experience if you find yourself in the Midlands.

If ever you wish to ride a horse but have any doubts whatsoever, even if you've never seen the horse upclose just give Caroline a ring. Her welcoming and friendly approach will put you at ease... even over the phone. When you meet her for the first time you'll feel like you're seeing your old lost friend. She is friendly yet professional and ensures that safety comes first. She has various well trained horses ranging from small to big for big boys/girls, making it possible to accommodate bigger sizes. On your first ride, her guidance and assistance will make you feel like you've been riding for ages. The scenic trail is... you'll understand my lost of words when you there. Worth traveling to this place for peace, tranquility, friendly company and super fun. Be prepared to be amazed... Had such a lovely day and already looking forward to go back.

So yesterday we went to Stormyhill horses trails🐎🐴. Such a beautiful gem in Boston kzn👌. Most beautiful farm and Caroline the lady that owns the farm was so amazing. She's Covid friendly as she only takes on group of people at a time. You can also take a small snack and have a picnic. We never rid horses before Caroline was so patient with us she thought us whatever we needed to know before we went on the trail🙏. She individual explain to each of us. She's so kind and she has such a beautiful soul❤️. She's always laughing and smiling😊. She didn't just take us on a walk around the farm, She took us on the most amazing trail passing little streams, a tree forest and hills we even saw a jackel🐕. The horse stormy, hurricane, sandman, zabbie, bubbles so majestic🐎. I must say sandman is definitely the attention seeker of them all🐴😎. Thank you Caroline we learnt so much from you and we felt safe the whole trail🙏.. We had so much of fun. We will definitely be back to say in your stunning cottages ☺️😁.

We stayed over in the "bed in the shed" and it was great! Caroline was very friendly and accommodating with our needs, which allowed us to enjoy our stay even more. The room has a wood burning stove which actually makes the cold winter nights something to look forward to!

Had an amazing experience , worth the journey and the trail was too good jammed packed with wonderful sceneries and wild life joy , and my horse cloudy was amazing , calm and had leadership qualities. Caroline was amazing and one of the best guides and thank you so much

awsome waterfalls. we got to experience it after major rainfall so falls were flowing beautifully. Seem to be fixing up the area aswell and building proper shelters for the people selling there goods. I was expecting a long walk from the parking but you park about 100m from the viewing point of the falls definitely worth a visit

It's OK. Nicer falls by Shongweni. My heart was in my throat for the people doing laundry at the top of the falls. However, there is a splendid array of beaded, stone, metal and cloth souvenirs to view. Decent prices, just negotiate aggressively 😅.

Howick Falls is a truly beautiful natural wonder, and on a good day, the view of the waterfall and gorge is beautiful. The sheer power of the water and the height of the falls are impressive to witness, and it's clear that nature has created something special here. However, the experience around the falls is unfortunately hampered by the general state of the viewing area. There is a noticeable amount of litter, which really detracts from the natural beauty of the place. It's a shame to see such a magnificent site not being properly maintained. While the waterfall itself is a five-star attraction, the surrounding environment brings the overall rating down. This spot has so much potential, and it would be a truly incredible destination if the cleanliness and general upkeep were improved. It's worth a visit just for the falls, but be prepared to look past the less-than-ideal conditions. Entrance is free of charge. Toilets are R2 per for use.

Well worth a visit. The falls are spectacular. Parking is easy and access to lookout is a short easy walk. The water tumbles into a deep gorge adding to the interest of the scene.

We parked up, walked a minute or two, and the view just dropped open—big sheet of water straight into the gorge. It’s louder than I expected. I leaned on the railing, took a couple of photos, then put the phone away and just watched the spray drift across and disappear. You can feel a tiny mist on your face if the wind turns your way. We hung around longer than planned. Grabbed a cold drink from a nearby stall, found a bit of shade, and kept pointing out small things—swallows skimming the water, a rainbow in the spray for a few seconds, that sort of thing. Nothing fancy, no rush. Just a good stop that leaves you quiet for a bit on the walk back.

The waterfall was great. Full too actually which was nice. Love the cute little lines where you can do the lock and key thingy. There's an uncle who sings there too, my friend loved that

Good quick stop, especially after rain when the falls are pumping. The main viewpoint is right off the road, so you don’t need hiking gear. Stalls nearby sell snacks/souvenirs; we found them friendly, not pushy. Downsides: parking can be a bit chaotic on busy weekends, and mist on the railings means keep phones secured. Ten to twenty minutes is perfect. Pair it with the Capture Site or Midlands Meander and you’ve got a tidy half-day.

Went birding there for the day. Nobody to take my payment at the gate even though it was opening time. No map available either! The 4x4 roads are a little bit under maintained. Off camber and slippery in places. I would recommend 2 vehicles supporting eachother, or avoid 4x4 roads unless you have confirmation from the staff that the roads are dry and/or maintained That said, we got a good selection of birds so it was a worthwhile day out

We went as day visitors again and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Will keep going back. The game drive was amazing we saw Rhino, Zebra, huge lizards, bokke. I would just suggest that they put more road signs as we got lost 3 times,😂. Picnic area was the best. Had a braai, there is a lovely pool and play area. The toilets are neat and clean and staff are very helpful. Thank you so much once again. Highly recommend.

The rooms need attention but the bed was comfortable, clean and warm. The food was outstanding and the service was friendly. The bird life and game was good and kept us busy. The raptor centre is well worth a visit. All in all it was an extremely pleasant stay.

I had the pleasure of popping in for a short day visit and was so impressed! Saw more game in a single drive than I did the whole weekend at another reserve up the north coast. Had lunch at Leadwood Manor - Wow! What a little gem so close by in the most beautiful and tranquil setting. Food was delicious too! Will definitely be back to stay over and try out some of the activities they offer.

I've been coming to Tala for years now, stayed over at the Leadwood cottage for a night and wow what a gorgeous experience! I was blown away by the sheer size and luxury of the room, a big shout out to the lodge manager who went out of his way to get me some anti allergy tabs(as I was suffering from severe allergies that day)...the breakfast included was amazing, although I will state that those mini mutton sausages need to come with a warning as they have quite the hot bite in being spicy!! Overall, well done to the new owners as I am definitely going to be recommending Tala!!

We had a day visit. It's a real Safari experience. Rhinos, Giraffe, boks and a variety of other animals to see. I do recommend a larger vehicle for your travel. Pool, swings, bird watching, clean toilets, etc Be brave to explore... You won't be disappointed .

The overall experience of staying inside the game reserve was not bad at all. We would give it 3/5 stars. However, BEWARE OF THE REFUND PROCESS. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FOR 3 MONTHS NOW! We had a very frustrating experience with Tala. We booked accommodation but cancelled after receiving no response to our emails about whether children were allowed. Later, we were told kids are allowed and were asked to rebook, with a promise that our initial payment would be refunded. We ended up paying twice. Since then, we’ve been sent in circles — Tala referred us to Marriott, then to Dream Resorts, both of whom said they’re no longer associated with Tala. We were later told the refund was sent back to Tala, yet we still haven’t received it. We left on 28 August and are still waiting for any clear response or refund. Very disappointing communication and accountability.

What an incredible experience at the African Raptor Centre! Their new location is absolutely stunning, and it’s clear to see just how much dedication and passion the team has poured into creating such a special place. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed not just by the staff’s warmth but also by the impressive presence of some of Africa’s most iconic birds of prey. The bird show is an absolute must-see — it’s both thrilling and educational, giving you the chance to witness these magnificent raptors in flight while learning fascinating facts about their behaviour and conservation. Another highlight is the vulture feeding, an unforgettable experience that brings you face-to-face with these often misunderstood giants of the sky. Watching them feed while hearing about their vital role in the ecosystem really leaves you with a newfound appreciation.

So when it comes to sanctuary’s this place is just stunning! Their cages are so beautiful and you can see they go through effort to give the birds the best. The birds and the faculty are excellent. TAKE A HAT and a bottle of water if you’re going in summer and they don’t take cards so you can only pay with cash or eft.

Was awesome to see the amount of effort that has been put into them settling into their new premises! The birds are all happy and healthy- even some of the vultures sitting on eggs! Can't wait for the eagle enclosures to be complete. Keep up the hard work!

This place is so lovely, so educational, clean and very well looked after animals. We all make an impact on our surroundings, and it's so important to know where nature needs our help to recover or be saved from urban expansion. Always take something warm for the birds of prey show as it generally has a chilly wind, no matter the weather.

What a wonderful outing with the children. We were able to attend the bird show, which was a great educational experience. Birds look well cared for, clean facilities and a big variety birds We had a bite to eat at their coffee shop. Very basic, but great value for money and very tasty. Jungle gym area for the kids.

We arrived and had plenty of time to look around the shop, crocodiles, restaurant, crocodiles, held a VERY big python (didn't realise just hold cold it would feel!), MORE crocodiles, and then the big drive through the park. It was BUMPY!! Which is quite a lot of fun for the kids! You get VERY close to the animals (gnu, kudu, giraffe, impala, warthog, zebra). The driver stopped and answered ALL the questions from our daughter. She impressed me with the number! But more impressive was the driver's answers! And, as in all of my reviews, would I go again? Yes. This time with a camera that was capable of self levelling and MUCH better zoom! Though, actually, not much zoom was needed! EDIT: Forgot to mention, the restaurant had a FANTASTIC view of "The Thousand Hills" (I didn't count them) and the food was excellent! Everywhere was clean and tidy. All the people working there were helpful and pleasant.

Phezulu Safari Park was the perfect introduction to South Africa for my fiancée. I am from Durban, so I am used to this sort of thing, but seeing it through her eyes made it feel new again. The park was clean, well-kept, and the views were absolutely beautiful. What really made the experience special was our guide, Sazi. He knew his stuff inside and out, and his passion for the animals really came through. You could tell the animals were healthy and well looked after, which made the whole experience even better. It was a brilliant intro to safari life and it has definitely sparked a new obsession with these incredible animals. Thank you to the team at Phezulu for a great time.

0/5 – Complete waste of time The 1000 Hills Information Centre is a total ghost town. Not a single person was there to assist. It felt abandoned, like no one had been around for ages. Definitely not what you’d expect from an “information” centre — absolutely nothing useful or welcoming about it. Don’t bother stopping here.

We rolled the windows down and took it slow, pulling over whenever a viewpoint popped up. It’s layer after layer of hills, the kind that make your phone photos look flat no matter how many you take. We just leaned on the railing, passed the chips around, and watched the light slide across the valleys. There’s a laid-back, small-town feel, kids waving, a few roadside stalls, a whiff of braai smoke now and then. We grabbed cold drinks, sat for a bit, and didn’t feel any need to rush. Simple drive, big views, mood reset.

The gentleman was very helpful and provided useful information. We had great time in the area! The kids loved the crocks and the cultural performance was nice.

Lots of stalls from fresh fruit, vegetables, butter , jams , honey and eggs. Lots of home baked goodies as well. They are lots of food and drinks stalls, basically something for everyone. Live music and kiddies corner with train rides , jungle gym and trampoline. Pets on leashes are welcome. Market opens at 7 and close around 7. Love the vibe and atmosphere.

This is one of the finest markets I’ve visited in my home country, SA. The goods stalls are by and large nothing to write home about, but THE FOOD… the food stalls are nothing short of spectacular! Portions are large, fare is top-notch and lines move quickly. And the best thing about the market has to be the large communal outdoor, covered dining area. Live music and ample seating means I can go rustle up a family feast while wifey keeps a table and kids play on the well constructed toys and jungle gyms; all the while savouring great live music and a jovial atmosphere. You don’t have to fret about poor table service or tipping (which I’m not against, by the way). But for the value it’s probably the best place to take out-of-town visiting friends and treat them to a great meal without it costing you an arm and a leg.

This is probably KZN’s best and biggest market, with a focus on variety and quality. You’ll find something of interest here, whether you’re looking for art, prepared food, fruit and veg, garden plants, clothing, books, music and DVDs, collectibles, secondhand tools, or things more eclectic. It’s been growing steadily since the 2020 lockdowns, with more undercover areas, and more stalls. I was disappointed to see that the farmer veggie stall that used to be in the first section seems to have disappeared, but there are other stalls selling fresh produce. Facilities like toilets and the massive parking area with super-attentive car attendants are still topnotch.

We visit they market a few times during the year. It always has a nice ambience, friendly laid back country atmisphere. sometime a bit too crowded ... but yesterday was a pleasant outing.. You could find a table to sit and enjoy your delicious brunch . the stall are great, offer a huge variety of goods & interesting products it was a beautiful morning sprbt browsing

Finally experienced this market over the Easter weekend, it is nestled amongst beautiful greenery. The atmosphere is cool and you can literally breathe in the freshest of air. There are plenty of stalls selling a variety of fresh foods, drinks, clothing to other miscellaneous items. There is plenty of seating although this past weekend proved to be a super busy one. I would advise to get there around 6 - 6:30am to ensure good parking and seating. There are rides for kids, face painting etc. There is also a hiking trail which gives you a great view of the waterfall. Overall great experience and service from all vendors and staff.

Wow! What an amazing experience we had visiting Crocodile Creek!! The tour guide was very informative and fun in the way he was talking and explaining about the crocodiles and the place. The place is kept very neat and clean, if the water seems dirty, it’s not… it’s duck wheat.. aids in keeping the water level constant as well as the water temp. All crocs are well taken care off. There is a couple of monkeys, but they didn’t cause any nuisance, as well as sweet dogs and cats… A definite must visit!! The road leading to the croc creek isn’t of the best, which is understandable as it’s running between sugar cane farms, but the journey is well worth it!!

I wouldn't hesitate driving out here again. Hundreds of big crocs, epic staff, loved the experience. Definitely a unique and worthwhile day out.

We thoughourly enjoyed our visit at Croc Creek. Very informative , learnt so much about the crocs. Tour guide was exceptional, very interesting and entertaining, made us laugh out loud. Great for a family outing , the kids went ballistic seeing all the crocs up close. The kiosk in the front for memorabilia items are rather pricey , perhaps if they lowered their prices they'd make a bit more money. I wanted to buy my infant a memory soft toy and for a small croc it was priced at R185. We did not eat here however they do have a menu with a few food options, we got some cool drinks and waters for the walk. Entrance fee for all of us (5) was very reasonable. Saw some massive crocs and our son and his cousin got to hold a 6 year old croc. We went on an extremely hot day so go when it's not too warm for a more comfortable experience and also you can see more crocs, on very hot days the crocs are all cooling off in the water, on cooler days they're on the land. Prams suitable for this venue , the only exception was the stairs as you enter into the "hall" where they have presentations. One can spend a few hours.

Just Wow. Shaun has been incredible. This is a once in a lifetime experience. There are 1000 crocs. There was a wolf too. Shaun is so passionate about his job, he has worked there for 37 years, and it was so interesting to hear his story and facts abouts the crocs.. I will definitely be coming back! Thank you to Shaun and the team for this experience I will truly never forget.

Great experience. The mall is well laid out and it’s easy to get around. We did groceries, grabbed coffee, and even fit in a quick salon appointment. Honest pricing at the parking machines and lots of shaded spots. Highly recommended.

Great variety with anchors, boutiques, cinema, and lots of dining choices. Easy to spend a full afternoon here and tick off errands. It does get crowded during peak hours, so plan ahead. Solid experience overall.

We slipped off for an hour between family visits and the city noise just melted, cool shade, giant trees, and easy paths you can wander without thinking. We found the lake, watched moorhens fussing around the lilies, and took a few photos before putting the phones away. It felt like a small breather in the middle of a busy family weekend. We grabbed cold drinks, sat under a big fig, and chatted about nothing important while the kids rolled down the lawn. Couples strolled past, a wedding shoot drifted by the orchids, and the whole place just moved at a gentler pace. Simple, calm, and exactly the reset we needed before heading back to the cousins.

Botanic Garden is beautiful, peace and quiet. I went on Saturday it was full yet so spacious as there was a wedding ceremony in the hall. People who were visiting the garden were able to access it. I would really recommend it 👌 if you want to relax, enjoy the view and nature.

Overall, it was a memorable place to relax, reflect, and reconnect with nature. A definite must visit if you are in Durban.

One of the oldest botanical gardens in Africa and a serene oasis in the heart of Durban. Gorgeous collection of cycads, orchids, and palm trees. Ideal for picnics, birdwatching, or quiet walks. The gardens are well maintained with clean facilities and ample benches. There’s often live music or events on weekends. Entry is free, though donations are welcome.

We took the SkyCar up the arch just before sunset and the view over Durban stopped us in our tracks, ocean on one side, city stretching on the other. We took a few photos, then just leaned on the rail and watched the light slide across the roof. Even on a breezy evening it felt calm up there, like the city noise was on mute. Back at ground level we wandered the plaza, grabbed something to drink, and sat people-watching while the lights came on around the stadium. It’s one of those places that makes a simple hour feel like an occasion, easy, memorable, and worth the detour.

We went up in the SkyCar for a proper postcard view of Durban’s coastline, then lingered on the arch just to watch the city breathe. It’s clean, well-run, and surprisingly calming up there. If you’ve got nerves, the Big Swing is a rush; if not, the café and plaza still make it worth the stop. Sunset light on the arch is magic, photos do half the work for you.

Great place to visit. Great views and good architecture you won't regret it. I love the fact that it's easily accessible, spacious and clean too. Lots of parking space and a great environment. We've watched countless soccer matches and the atmosphere's always good and you get to meet different people.

We went up late afternoon and the views were exactly what we hoped for—ocean on one side, city on the other, and a steady breeze that makes you pause. Staff were calm and friendly, and the whole process felt smooth from ticketing to the ride down. It’s one of those “show your visitors this first” places because it sets the tone for Durban. Back at ground level we lingered on the plaza, grabbed something cold to drink, and watched people cycle past. It’s easy to pair with a walk toward the beachfront, so the outing turns into a simple, happy couple of hours.

The Kings Park Stadium, also known as the "Shark Tank," is a rugby ground located close to The Riverside Hotel in Durban. Amazing place to chill at, there's plenty of stuff to keep a person entertained. I've had a wonderful experience at the Cinecenter and Ocean Basket. It wasn't too crowded and security seemed alert.

Wonderful choice for my business trip. Rooms are sparkling clean and serviced daily. Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The breakfast in the morning is fresh and the choices numerous. I will urge anyone traveling for business or holiday to stay here, it is beautiful, right on the beach and very central.

It was my first time at Suncoast. I stayed for 2 nights in a standard room. Check in was seamless, front desk staff were welcoming and helpful. My room was sea facing, and cozy. Access to the beach was easy, with the casino side having a lot of restaurants. Wifi good, plenty parking areas. Breakfast had a variety of options. Value for money Ask for room on the upper floor to take advantage of the ocean views.

Our kids fav spot... Good food and entertainment.. Entertainment:- Casino For kids:- The fun company & The water sprinklers at the open area- this one is free so anyone can access it. Plenty of food places to choose from from fast food to sit in restaurants some are :- thava restaurant, nandos, rocomamas, kfc, fishaways, steers, debonairs, Ocean basket, Spur, John dory's, Calistos Maltos, Tiger tiger and quite a few more. This is our go to place coz it's so family friendly...it really has something for the whole family. They truly deserve recognition or a bonus for their outstanding service. I had an amazing experience visiting with my family, and they keep asking when we’ll be going back.

My experience staying here is not bad. Hope they can have a better choice for breakfast. One more thing, 1 small bottle of water a day is not enough. It is not a big deal but for a such nice hotel, they should improve that. Anyway, good place to stay.

Fantastic place where to stay even for the whole day. It could look at the first moment as a bit overcrowded but that's the magic of this place. People here are just sharing their joy and funny time. A lot of options were to grab some snacks or some different beach food such as ice cream or soft drinks. There is also plenty of restaurants or coffee shops so here is everything for the while day. Even free public showers🚀

uShaka is always a lovely place to visit when coming to Durban. I hadn’t been here since before Covid and was worried when I saw all the negative reviews, however it’s not bad at all. There are staff everywhere to assist, the spaces are kept clean, and the shows, aquarium and slides are all very enjoyable. We were here during off peak season so it was not busy at all. The parking has attendants on the inside and you have to pay at the gate too. The payment at the gate was R21 for about 6 hours, which isn’t too bad. I recommend having some cash as well. It’s important to check the website before planning your trip so you know when is the best time to visit based on what’s available.

🌊 1. Sea World Home to one of the largest aquariums in the Southern Hemisphere. You can walk through underwater tunnels and view sharks, rays, turtles, dolphins, and colorful fish up close. uShaka is a beautiful big place to do alot of things, inreally think they did an outstanding job with the layout. The only thing I'd recommend is to improve on the seal show, it's was a little bit of a waist of time, they only have a short briefing then select soemone from the audience to meet a seal, and that's it show is over, I feel they can do a little more than a 5mint show, for me it was a waist the kids could hardly enjoy, the dolphin show was so amazing, got to give it tobthe staff that handles the dolphin show now that definitely worth to see, some areas where closed, and some restaurants are closed, so it's a little bit sad, I'd prefer to go early morning, as midday is extremely busy if you not someone for large groups of people. To view the marine life. They definitely are doing a great job and that you have an opportunity to meet the dolphins personally, but you would need to book ahead of time with them to personally have an experience with the dolphins. But the show you don't need booking.

uShaka Marine World is an incredible place to visit! The aquarium is one of the best I’ve seen, with an amazing variety of marine life and beautifully designed exhibits. The water park adds even more fun, especially for families with children. The atmosphere is vibrant and safe, with plenty of food and entertainment options around. I highly recommend booking tickets in advance, especially during weekends and holidays, as it gets very busy. A must-see attraction in Durban!

Best place to visit around Durban. There are Marine Aquarium, Dolphin and seal shows, Dangerous creature show, water adventures, rope adventure and water parks. Everything totally worth. You can also take seperate tickets for each events, but it's better to take combo tickets. Go for water park if u gonna spend the whole day there. Ticket prices are also not high, but affordable. We really enjoyed it

I've been wanting to go there for ages. I was not disappointed. The staff are really working hard to make it an amazing experience. The exhibits are well maintained. There are lots of shops and more than enough to eat and drink. I will certainly go back and can definitely recommend it.

What a great experience at uShaka Marine World! We wandered through the aquarium and honestly lost track of time—quiet walkways, huge viewing windows, and that lovely hush when a turtle glides past. Even the “non-fish people” in our group ended up pointing things out and taking way too many photos. Outside had a fun, holiday feel. We grabbed an easy lunch, drifted between shops, and caught a dolphin show without planning to—perfect little break for our feet. Salty air, friendly staff, and plenty of shady spots made it an effortless day out. We left sun-tired, smiling, and already talking about coming back.

Wow. This mall has it all. We visited for the Ice Rink and ended up enjoying the greater mall. There is entertainment for the entire family and a bewildering selection of restaurants. The mall is spacious and well laid out with modern and plush fittings. There are public, free rest rooms which are really clean and well maintained. The parking area is great and easy to navigate. All round, a great family experience.

Galleria Mall in Amanzimtoti is a fantastic spot for shopping and dining! The mall offers a variety of stores and restaurants, making it a great place to spend the day. I've heard great things about Eagle Canyon Spur, serving up delicious burgers, ribs, and steak in a family-friendly atmosphere. RocoMamas is another popular spot, offering tasty burgers and excellent service. If you're looking for some fun activities, KartingKZN has got you covered with their indoor go-kart tracks Some other notable mentions include John Dory's, Panarottis, and Mozambik, all offering delicious meals and great reviews. Overall, Galleria Mall seems like a wonderful place to relax

It is huge, so if you want excersize there is more than enough space. There are resturants there for a snack or a gourmet meal from a shrimp to a lobster to a piece of steak. Breakfast or even a cup of coffee is available. There are clothing, eating, groceries , hobby and cellphone shops as well as a play park for all ages

I don’t have a problem with the mall itself but I have a HUGE problem with how the employees are treated. I recently found out that the mall’s employees have to pay for parking each day they come to work. This is ridiculous and a despicable way to treat your employees/tenants. Galleria, please do better and fix this mistake. R20 a day adds up to so much money per month and per year for people who ensure a great amount of revenue for you! Your employees deserve so much better!

Adequate parking space, the solar panels give shade while advocating for cleaner sources of energy. A well rounded off shopping experience. The Food Court is situated conveniently on the top floor, ease of access to mobility challenged people.

Terrible service from Galleria Management. They do not respond to emails regarding security concerns & tenants not following CPA. Remax Creative at The Galleria is a terrible store. Extremely unprofessional service. They do not follow the CPA. Purchase a cover for an iPad. The quality was sub standard and after finding a better one in another store went back a few minutes later to return and was told I could not return it. After spending R1200 at the store. Extremely disssapointed. Don't expect Galleria to safeguard consumers!

We visited Vodacom, Volpes and Circus Circus. Excellent service from staff of all three shops; interested but polite to assist as well as knowledgeable and honest. Refreshing.

Fabulous staff fabulous reception, incredibly clean . Sweeeetest goats was the highlight for me. And the snake man wish i caught his name but such a welcoming sweet carer allowing our small children to hold a boa and learn to be gentle with such majestic little critters.

We had a great tour by a guide who latched onto us between school tours that were coming through. It was awesome having a knowledgeable member of the team walknwithbus and give us interesting info. The facility it Raju good. The restaurant has one of the best views you'll ever see. The service was result good and the prices were reasonable.

A great afternoon out! Very informative and we got to hold the baby crocs!! Lovely little restaurant inside with a deck overlooking the ocean. Perfect for a quick stop along the route.

I wouldn't say it's a must see in the area but nice place to go for a few hours if you have a day off. The restaurant was pretty good and had a nice view, and the crocs and birds that live there were impressive. The price was also quite reasonable.

It was a nice experience, the place is a bit shabby but there were plenty of crocs to see, there is a 750kg, 125 year old croc that is just massive and really cool to see. We also held a baby croc and petted baby goats. All in all a good experience.

A wonderful place for both adults and kids. At a set time one can hold a large snake which was imported from Asia. After viewing the crocodile feeding there is an opportunity to hold a harmless baby crocodile. They have the world's oldest crocodile in captivity who is 125 years old. Henry is gigantic and pictures don't do justice.

Loved the environment. It's mept really clean , enjoyed reading a book on the bench for a while in nice shade hearing the ocean. Sadly the whale watching section is closed down
