Nambiti Big 5 Private Game Reserve, located near Ladysmith, spans 23000 acres and offers luxurious African safari experiences. Visitors can stay in upscale lodges like Cheetah Ridge and enjoy personalized service from the attentive staff. The reserve is home to the Big 5, providing opportunities for close encounters with elephants, rhinos, leopards, lions, and buffaloes.
We visited Ndaka Lodge which I believe is the only lodge that allows kids of all ages and what a Great family resort it is. Food was outstanding. The service from all staff from the time we got there till we left was amazing. We also managed to get a massage at the spa which has beautiful views overlooking a dam. Special thanks to Fana and Angus for making our first safari experience with our 1 year old a memorable one. Will definitely be back !

Beautiful Big 5 game reserve. Excellent sightings. Stayed at The Springbok Lodge and had a fantastic weekend. We went on 4 game drives and saw either cheetah or lions on every drive. Highly recommend this game reserve.

Stayed at lions valley lodge for 4 nights. Had great food, great service. Had amazing sightings. Would recommend to anyone wanting a great experience and is will to pay for what you get.

Spotted the big 5 easily. Incredible birding. We stayed at Umzolozolo. Wonderful lodge with very knowledgeable guides

We stayed in a Private Lodge within the Reserve. It is not a self drive Reserve.

Im happy that this is a game preserve. The animals are in their own habitat and can behave as such. The preserve carries out meaningful projects to keep the animals healthy and protect them. I won't include rhino pics as another way to protect them.

Fantastic. An unforgettable experience in Tanzania. Pierre is very knowledgeable about all the animals and birds, and his team put together an excellent itinerary to meet the special requirements of our group. The accommodations were great, our driver was very capable and considerate of our needs. We had an amazing safari.

I had the good fortune to pick BushBaby Safaris when my husband and I went to South Africa for our 50 wedding anniversary. We were so impressed with the service, knowledge of the guide/s and itinerary when we started our small tour company for safaris to South Africa we used only BushBaby Safaris. Pierre, owner and operator of BushBaby Safaris, has won numerous awards for his safari company. He will always be our choice for safaris is all of southern Africa.

Talana Museum

Mentioned on
1 list
Museum
Specialty Museums
Nestled in a 20-acre heritage park on the historic Talana battlefield, Talana Museum pays homage to Dundee's coal-mining town growth. The museum showcases diverse exhibits encompassing war, agriculture, mining, industry, and daily life. Situated at the base of Talana hill, which means 'the shelf where precious items are stored' in Zulu, the museum offers an exceptional variety of information and displays.
What an absolutely brilliant museum. It took us almost 3 hours to go through everything. One of the best museums that I have ever been to. Well worth the visit.
Lesley S — Google review
There wasn't anyone. No staff or anyone to assist. The electricity was off at all the buildings, so we had you use cellphone flashlights to see. Really not that great place. I wouldn't drive there to see it. Actually, it was a waste of time.
F S — Google review
Talana Museum, Dundee is an absolute treasure for anyone interested in South African history. Set on the original battlefield of the first battle of the Anglo-Boer War, the museum offers a deep and fascinating journey through time. There’s so much to see and learn — from the early settler days and mining history to the Anglo-Zulu and Anglo-Boer wars, and even more modern exhibits showcasing local heritage and culture. Each building on the property tells its own story, filled with artifacts, photographs, and detailed information that give you a real sense of life in those eras. It’s clear that a lot of care and effort has gone into preserving the history here. You’ll definitely need time to appreciate everything properly — this is not a quick stop, but rather a place to explore and experience at a relaxed pace. The museum grounds are spacious and peaceful, with beautiful old trees and well-marked walking areas that lead you from one exhibition to the next. It’s a wonderful place for both adults and children to learn more about South Africa’s past in an engaging and visual way. Entrance is very reasonable at R50 per person, but it’s important to note that they currently only accept cash — so be sure to plan ahead. Overall, Talana Museum is well worth a visit. It’s a place where history comes alive, and you leave with a deeper appreciation for the stories that shaped this part of KwaZulu-Natal. Highly recommended for history lovers and curious travellers alike.
Alet P — Google review
The museum is definitely worth a visit. It’s not just about the battle there are several other museums within the grounds, music, glass, coal mining etc. There is also a rail steam engine on site that you can climb aboard. Just make sure you give yourself enough time

Saw interesting history of yester year. Glass works 👍 War museums give us reason to appreciate those how paid the ultimate prize. Coal mines with the old methodes used was amazing. The displays was descriptif but it took time to read it all as you were left to explore on your own.
Nelie G — Google review
There is an entrance fee. Friendly Reception. Place is clean. I enjoyed The glass section very much. Lots of different things to see.
Erika S — Google review
This museum is definitely worth a visit. They have an exceptional wide variety of information and exhibits. The Anglo-Boer and Anglo-Zulu wars are captured in detail. There is also a display on the mining industry. Allow yourself adequate time to visit all the different exhibition houses - there is a lot to see and appreciate. They charge a small entrance fee, have convenient restrooms and observe covid regulations. After the meandering you can enjoy a light meal at the restaurant.

Victorian Theatres (Pty) Ltd

Movie theater
Fun & Games
Loved the whole castle brick design on the inside. Movies and services are quite good. The theatre itself reminded me of when I was younger and going to the movies. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good place to watch a movie alone as a couple or with friends. Even the prices are quite cheap compared to the places I went to before coming here. :)
Johann S — Google review
Stressful that they haven't perfected buying and booking seats online. Had to come from another town so early and hang around an unfamiliar town for 4hrs in the bid to secure tickets and prevent driving all the way later to a full house. Seats are numbered but tickets had no specific seat numbers that till movie started was unsure if someone would claim the seats. Would appreciate if season change could be considered in tje aircon temperatures. It was freezing when it was on. 3 D viewing shouldn't be imposed on everyone. It was uncomfortable. However grateful for the place staying open for one to keep up with movie life. Great prices no feeling of exploitation. Thank you
Thandi D — Google review
Went on 2 occasions to watch the Indian movie with family. The initial impression at the concession stand was poor. They offered combo drinks with popcorn and soda and could not provide a combo deal because the soda machine was broken! Common sense and customer service to patrons would have honored the deal and substituted the drink for the inconvenience and false advertising by this establishment - but sadly they just said no. Going into the theater was the second poor impression: seats were broken at the back of the theatre. When the movie started the final poor impression was the quality of their streaming. The movie was unclear and grainy. Well I guess we got what we paid for (R30) for the movie, however the exorbitant prices at the concession stand was not worth its price for the items ordered.
Justin V — Google review
It's movies in Newcastle. Appreciated and definitely needed so no reason to complain. However, I will never watch a 3d movie there again. Avengers end game was supposed to be epic but was ruined by the fact that the 3d was of absolute poor quality. Images were blurred and for the most part of the movie I had to remove it to see faces properly and then put on again for more distant shots. I'll go for normal movies there however the big releases especially those that I have been waiting 10 years for , I'll wait to see it in a franchise theatre. Other than that, Victorian theatres has been servicing Newcastle with much needed entertainment for a long time which we are truly grateful for.
Zahir H — Google review
While it is nice to have a movie house in Newcastle it's a disgusting place to say the least. The seats are so gross and dirty the toilets are horrific and you must pay R2 to use that horrible place. All in all a terrible experience! The owners should really keep the maintenance of the theater and the whole building for that matter in check!
Hanno V — Google review
Deffinitely more a theatre than a movie. It's not over priced. Just undercrowded, and tickets are not sold by seat but just by number of them. So the ealrier you get one, the better seats you get to claim.
Andre V — Google review
Prices are excellent. Movie quality average. Main concern is unfriendly staff, no guide lights on seats after movie has started.
FoxtrotCharlie_ZA — Google review
I will not say i hate it but the theaters needs a GOOD clean. Seats are dirty and aircons full of dust.

Good place to visit to get an overview and history of the city of Newcastle KZN Municipality busy with upgrading the facility but no timelines for completion just yet They have bbq facilities as well as tables so bring the family and yougsters out and come learn a little bit about the towns English History. Would like some more African nuances on the History (there must be some- i mean the Zulu’s were here before the English) as well as the various wars with the Boere and how all that shaped the town

Love the history behind this museum. Although it is very sad too. It is neat and informative.

I enjoyed the visit, the person on duty know his history, but it seems that SA government spend no money on the SA Boer history..a 45 minute visit is all you need..

A good example of South African life a century ago. Well organised, and extensive period related exhibits. A knowledgeable curator with a deep love for and understanding of his district, its history and development. A must visit for the tourist and the local. It needs support from the authorities and the people.

Additionally, the reserve is known for its welcoming staff and family-friendly atmosphere, making it a popular destination for annual visits and educational trips with children.
The game drive was nice. It was an informative trip learning about animals that they have at cradle of life. The rooms are also clean, the room we got for the wedding party was quit big, very clean. The garden wedding was so beautiful and the staff was very helpful throughout the day. Would recommend for one to have their wedding here
Sethu N — Google review
Don’t waste time. Place is rundown. Museum has been dismantled. Animal farm is gone. What used to be beautiful is now brown. Ceilings are falling in. A bar with nothing inside. Not sure if I would venture food from the menu. Terribly sad loss to what used to be a wonderful place to stop and get fuel.
Fay T — Google review
Very good and affordable food, one of the ladies that deals with making bookings for the game drives can't properly understand and or assist you in English. Our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable about all the animals we found during the 2hour tour and we loved it.
Marcel N — Google review
We went on the safari. Best safari drive we've been in to date. About 90 minutes guided drive. We got to watch the feeding time. And thw guide gave us details about every animal we passed. Really worth the money......cheap compared to other game drives around the country.
Bibi G — Google review
Our chalet was not cleaned properly for our arrival. One bathroom had no water in the taps. Not enough plates and cutlery. It seemed like there had been no maintenance for a long time... things were run down.
Jonathan D — Google review
Beautiful place but the restaurant service is very poor, we were the only table in the whole place but had to go ask for service after they saw us and a waiter that was smoking outside told them there is a table outside. We ordered drinks and waffle, out of the two they only had one. Will not be seeing us again when we pass.
Donovan S — Google review
Housekeeping wasnt available to change a double bed to twins. Lots of cobwebs, dirty kitchen table and Showers were also very dirty. Otherwise the place is also very neat outside and well looked after. Very beautiful vistas!
Nico M — Google review
As a regular in this place i have seen a fast decline in service offered to the guest in the chalets. The manager of the lodge were to busy with her sun-downer to concern herself to assist me with a few problems. DSTV was not working, The electricity was switched off and had to ask them to switch it on. She did not even answer her cellphone . As an attraction for the wildlife and view is seems good just don't stay the night .

Wathaba Hiking Trails

Mentioned on

Hiking area
Nature & Parks
Nestled in the heart of Mpumalanga's diverse wilderness, Wathaba Hiking Trails offer an ideal weekend getaway for families. The trails boast a variety of fascinating creatures and picturesque waterfalls, making it a perfect destination for exploration. The 10km trek features iconic spots like the Cascades Waterfall, where visitors can take a refreshing dip or enjoy a delightful picnic.
The hikes were amazing — scenic, well marked and clean. A pure delight! The 10km trail is a bit challenging but doable, the 4km is fun. Christia was very welcoming. The self-catering accomodation is a bit dated but has everything needed. The tap in the upstairs bath of the Bloubos Retreat spouts orange rusty water and needs urgent attention. Overall, a delightful, peaceful and refreshing visit.
Vida S — Google review
Wathaba hiking trail is nestled within the Skurweberg Mountains 20 km from Machado in Mpumalanga. It is a 10 km trail in a pristine wilderness sanctuary, with several cascading waterfalls. Some technical difficulty but a well marked and maintained route. We were a group of 15 ladies from Secunda accommodated at Wathaba and a group of 9 that joined us only for the hike. Honey Bush is a well equipped camp with solar lights and a donkey geyser and a lovely boma to share the stories of the day around the camp fire. The mountains are always waiting to show us something new...about nature, about life but most important about ourselves. With every step you get the opportunity to let go of the noise of this world and to create space for peace, simple joy of just being. Great to be back in the mountains after 8 months recovering from an injury! #hiking #mountains #kloof #wathabahikingtrail
Annaretha F — Google review
I did the 10km day hike. I would rate it moderate, the 1st 4 km are a steep climb that may be challenging, however after that, the trail is manageable. The waterfalls along the route make for magnificent views. Id encourage a stop by the cascade waterfall for a swim or snack while enjoying the view and calming sound. Highly recommend
Phindile M — Google review
I didn't like how we were addressed or treated. Even the worker was not treated well infront of us. The trail was hard and challenging especially the first 4km, constant climbing up. The waterfalls are absolute beauty of nature. I would definitely come back for them.
Sizakele T — Google review
Wathaba is one of the most challenging trails I have encountered, and I think the rainy weather played a significant role. Many of my friends were not able to complete the hike and had to turn back. For those looking to get the most out of the experience, I recommend having a hearty breakfast before starting (there's no restaurant there) and bringing plenty of snacks and water. I wouldn't advise solo hikers to attempt this trail as its definitely enjoying with a group.
Yonela M — Google review
Our adventure at Wathaba Hiking Trails was nothing short of spectacular! The morning greeted us with a touch of drizzle, but it transformed into a breathtaking 10km trek filled with picturesque waterfalls at every turn. The Cascades Waterfall was especially iconic—I couldn't resist taking a refreshing dip there! We arrived early at 7am and had a delightful picnic by the waterfall with our lovely group. It was heartwarming to see everyone pitching in to keep the trail clean by picking up refuse. While the hike itself was amazing, a little more consolidation on rules would be helpful. The information came in bits and pieces, instead of referencing one document. Don't forget to visit the quaint souvenir shop—they have unique items worth grabbing, but remember to bring cash. The waterfalls are truly the highlight here; you'll never tire of them! The steep inclines were challenging but manageable—even the 10-year-olds in our group conquered them like pros.
Laura S — Google review
Awesome hiking place in a semi-secluded area. Not for the faint hearted but the views are spectacular. Make sure to bring water and sturdy hiking shoes.
Miekie B — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous landscape and scenery…a lush and beautiful campground to explore, get in touch with nature. Meditate and recuperate, it’s so peaceful, all you hear are the sounds of tranquil waterfall and animals. The accommodation is decent for a camping site, clean and fresh. It’s a self catering accommodation, they also allow day visit. You can come hike, have a Braai or picnic and enjoy the scenery. There are two trails the 10km hike which is between moderate and difficult. The 4km hike is easy to moderate. There is a small shop on a he site opened on Saturday between 2-4pm you can buy your hats, cups and tracking sticks. There are animals on the site, monkeys, donkeys and cattle. The entrance route to the camp site provides beautiful views and glimpse of the trails. It’s work the visit, it’s located in entokozweni Mpumalanga and it’s very affordable.

The hotel also features a spa with various treatments and amenities such as massages and saunas. In addition to its luxurious offerings, the hotel's location provides easy access to nearby attractions like baKoni Ruins and Elands Falls.
One of my best experiences so far. Big spacious bedroom, beautifully furnished. Electric blankets Extremely clean. Their meals are also out of this world 🌎 You'll need an off-road vehicles to navigate the terrains there
Lalo M — Google review
The chalet was lovely. Rooms and bathrooms are well equipped. It was perfect that they did provide firelighters and wood. It's quiet and you can't hear your neighbours. The downfall for us was that no one knew which dams had the most trout fish in. Their tracking system of the amount of fish in the dams needs to improve. It's preferable to have some personal fishing tackle, especially when going fishing in the further dams as there is no one to come and help fix the problem(s) if one arises.

The Gooderson Kloppenheim Country Estate Hotel is a true gem in the Drakensberg. Surrounded by breathtaking views, rolling hills and tranquil scenery, it’s the perfect escape from the city. The chalets are spacious, clean and very comfortable, making it easy to relax and unwind. Staff are warm, welcoming and always willing to go the extra mile, while the meals are hearty and delicious. There are great walking trails and plenty of quiet spaces to enjoy nature. The only challenge is the gravel road leading in, especially after rain, but once you arrive the peace and beauty make it absolutely worth it.

What a hidden gem! More people should know about this place. We stayed at the self catering units, which was a very spacious 2-bedroom. The unit was clean and very well maintained. Service at reception, the restaurant, bar and from management was superb. We were so well taken care. Pricing is very fair for what we feel is a premium country estate. We’ll be back for sure and cannot wait to stay again at Gooderson Kloppenheim.

Worth a short visit. Interesting history about Kruger and his life. Texts in Afrikaans (so easy to read for Dutchies like us) and English.

If it were possible to give negative stars I would. We drove an entire hour out of our way just to see the place and weren't permitted entry because my 8 MONTH OLD BABY wasn't wearing a mask. When we tried to explain she's just a baby the guy there, who can hardly understand or speak English I might add told us and I quote "She is human."

Was a interesting stop. A lot of work has gone into fixing up the little village and old hotel. Lots of information on display of Pres Paul Kruger, very basic, no entrance fee was charged and if anything it's a good stop to stretch legs on your journey.

The Dullstroom Bird of Prey and Rehabilitation Centre in the charming town of Dullstroom offers an educational and engaging experience for visitors of all ages. It serves as a sanctuary for injured and orphaned birds of prey, while also raising awareness about the challenges faced by these magnificent raptors. The center's flying display is a highlight, providing an up-close look at these majestic birds in action.
We loved it here! Our daughter is bird obsessed and it did not disappoint! The handler for the show was a volunteer from Germany and honestly I could watch him for days as he is so passionate, caring and funny! The place is well kept and you can see the love for the birds.

We had an incredible time at the Bird of Prey & Rehabilitation Centre! The bird demonstration was both exciting and educational, and we also tried our hand at fly fishing at their dam - each one of the boys caught a fish, which made the experience all the more memorable. There’s a jungle gym to keep the little ones entertained if they get tired of fishing, and the area is perfect for a relaxing picnic too. Highly recommended for a fun family outing!

Worth the visit, just check on their website for dates when they are open. Amazing how these people take care of the birds that has injuries. The flight show is also spectacular to visit. Would definitely pop in again when I am that site. You can also sponsor birds. They also have a shop where you can buy items to support these birds. They have a small restaurant that you can stop and have something to eat. You can also do fly-fishing or have a picnic at the dam.

I had visited the Bird of Prey Rehabilitation Centre before and knew I had to bring my husband this time. Just as I remembered, the live demonstration was outstanding. The information boards are thoughtfully designed, sharing the unique stories of each bird in a captivating way. We’ll definitely visit again in the future – hopefully with our own kids!

Trout dam, well stocked! Honest, the guy who helped me was very polite and helpful… as were the ladies at the front. Mike - the bird handler who did the demonstration was a great entertainer and the show was amazing. The facility as a whole is very well kept and the birds are appreciated and well looked after! I’ll be back

We spent a very windy midday out trout fishing. The staff are very helpful and the whole fishing experience totally worth it and rewarding. We caught 5 very decently sized trout fish. Definitely coming back to check out the birds next time and do more fishing 😁

I arranged a personalized experience for my wife's birthday, where we had an unforgettable encounter with majestic animals. Abigail, our guide, demonstrated remarkable professionalism and expertise, patiently guiding us through everything we needed to understand. I highly recommend this experience and look forward to returning. Huge thanks to Richard, Abigail, and the entire Birds of Prey team for making our day extraordinary!

Well worth a visit, especially if you can join one of the flight shows (about an hour long). Self-guided walk through takes about 45 min. About R80 per South African adult. Details are on the website.

Super amazing experience! Thoroughly enjoyed the whiskey and chocolate pairing. Would definitely come back to try out some new things. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive to us. The snack platter was value for money and keep us snacking the whole time.

I had the Whisky tasting in 2023 and recently went back for their Tequila and Rum tasting and I enjoyed it. The knowledgeable staff leads you through a curated flight of rums and tequilas, each offering unique flavors from different regions. Whether you're celebrating or just indulging in something new, it’s the perfect spot to explore the world of premium spirits in a laid-back, welcoming environment.

What a wonderful experience, was there a couple of weeks ago and the staff were so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The whiskey was amazing to taste and would highly recommend, this is a wonderful experience for whiskey lovers, they break everything down for one to understand the process of making these fine whiskeys and the difference between all the brands. The staff are trained and you can see they are passionate about what they do- thank you for a beautiful experience we will be coming back!

We had such a fantastic experience at Wild For Whiskey in Dullstroom! Note I gave a 5 star for the drinks, we didn't eat there. My husband did The World Whisk(e)y Tasting while I enjoyed the Origins Gin Tasting, and both were absolutely incredible. The staff were outstanding – friendly, knowledgeable, and explained each tasting in a way that made it fun and educational. We both learnt so much and truly appreciated the passion behind what they do. What made the visit even more special is that they’re pet friendly – we could relax and enjoy the experience with our fur baby by our side, which really made us feel at home. If you’re in Dullstroom, this is definitely a must-visit spot for whiskey and gin lovers alike. Highly recommended! 🥃🍸🐾

If you love, or even just like, whiskey and other interesting spirits, this is an absolute must-visit. Fantastic for beginners and whiskey connoisseurs alike. The service was awesome, explaining the drinks in detail and answering any questions we had with real passion and knowledge. There are soooo many drinks on their tasting menu, you're bound to find your old faves and things you've never seen before. We tasted a few rare and premium whiskeys and mescals too, and it cost us less than R300 in total. I really can't recommend this place highly enough. P.S. My only reason for rating the food 3 stars is that we didn't order food. We only got crackers with the tasting.

Tastings range from R85 to more than R4,000.00, depending on the tasting experience you choose. The staff is very friendly with high energy and very informative. They also have snack platters, which goes perfectly with the drinks. 10/10 recommend this experience.

What an awesome experience, you can taste the freshly roasted coffee way better than some coffees I've tasted. The food was delicious, definitely a place to visit if you are in Dulstroom. Took beers home, looking forward to trying them.

Love these micro breweries, always great atmosphere and great beer with hearty food options, and Anvil brewery never disappointed! They had great service as well and the tasting was great, it would be great in summer but next to a fire place it was just as great, beer experience was really good and tasting in shot glasses was enough to acquire a taste f the beer and choose which ones you would like to buy to have there or like me, to take a case home 🍻🍻🍻🍺🍻🍻 time 😉

This is the place to go if you like beer. Definitely ask for the free beer tasting! It is not a joke. I had the IPA over and over. Fantastic beer but 6% so be careful. Food comes quickly and is simple and delicious. The desserts are phenomenal and I highly recommend the boozy cake and the brownie.

Great place for some beer tasting and food. We loved the vegetarian platter. Also dog friendly and lovely to sit outside. Incredibly friendly wait staff was the icing on the cake.
Laura K — Google review
A decent little pub/brewery, set at the edge of Dullstroom. A well looked after garden makes for a nice sit outside, although I worry if there is enough seating during peak hours. The beer was cold and refreshing, food was perfectly fine, but not great by any means. Pricing is okay too, not cheap but still fair. The only issue is the lady at the bar is miserable and rude (visited 25/09/2023).
Jordan T — Google review
I loved this place! Absolutely gorgeous setting, with the old-style buildings surrounded by lush floral gardens and tall shady trees. Not much on the menu for vegans, but their rye bread was excellent.

Free beer tasting! What more is there to say? Taste them all and get a pint of the one you liked most. They have a Blond, Pale-Ale, White Anvil, Black Anvil Stout, Mjolnïr IPA and a Bookoo summer ale, all brewed in-house. Come here on a summer day and enjoy one of each!

We took the late tour and were the only guests, which made it a wonderfully private experience. Our guides, Conell and Martin, were absolutely amazing, so passionate and knowledgeable. Conell shared the background stories of each individual chimp, which was truly lovely to hear. We especially enjoyed meeting Jessica (the boss lady) and the wonder baby Thabu. Thank you for the fantastic experience and the important work you’re doing. Keep it up!

I had the most amazing experience there today. It was so eye opening to hear the stories these beautiful animals have been through, my heart was broken to hear how horrible humans are. But visiting today made my whole heart feel full. Seeing how beautiful and happy these chimps are and the amazing work all the lovely people have put in to make a beautiful safe and happy environment for them. Thank you to Natasha for the lovely tour and for being so informative, friendly and for loving these chimps so much. The connection between them is incredible.

Really good experience. Being a regular Ellis park visitor my frame of reference is skewed. What a great facility. Open clean and engaging. Great and well designed stadium. Easy access, no bottle necks whether entering/exiting the stadium or using the bathroom. We'll managed. Great place to watch the Mighty Buccaneers do what they do best, win!

We attended the Springbok v Georgia game yesterday. It was very festive with the extra beer garden outside the stadium, lots to do and see. But after an amazing experience last time we visited, we were a bit disappointed at some of the facilities. Many of the tools in the Ladies didn't have any toilet paper. The big screen tvs both need attention as they have sections that are discoloured. The food that was available wasn't very good and was expensive. But all in all, I'm glad we went and well done to the Bokke!

I called i'langa mall offices today and asked them until what time dischem was open today, on Heritage day. The lady responded that all the shops were open until 17.00hrs. I arrived at dischem around 15.05 only to find that the shutters were down. Asked the guard if they were closed and he said " Yes come back tomorrow'. I then said that the mall mentioned that all shops were closing at 5.00 pm. There was a lady from dischem standing next to the guard and she retorted that I must take this up with the mall management as they close at 15.00 hrs. I then called the office at the mall again and she reiterated that Dischem was supposed to close only at 5.00pm and that she would take this up with the store manager. Don't know what transpired after that. Seems like the mall is run like the wild west and there are no uniform rules regarding timing. Each store will open and close when they feel like and shoppers drive all the way based on the wrong information by mall management.

This is a list of experiences to be cherished. The access road was in excellent condition. The restaurant offered great value, and the food and staff were truly exceptional. Great activity to do with the family. Very friendly to all ages with an exception to walking through a small passage (difficult for the elderly as you need to crouch). Decently priced and Shadrack was an amazing tour guide. More than welcome to take pics and spend time in the caves even when the guide is done. Awesome gift shop, has zip lining and a beautiful crystal tour that's approx 5hrs long but definitely worth it.

A beautiful spot in South Africa to visit. The cave is interesting, stalactites, stalagmite’s, fossils, high ceilings and deep - 600m. Exactly what you expect. A thrilling ride that is long enough to get the heart racing but short enough to want more. What is impressive is that the brake is on by default and the driver needs to push the lever forward to disengage. If you get scared or panic and let go of the lever it will brake by itself. Awsome ride

What a lovely experience and breathtaking venue this is. A hidden gem. A bit expensive for a family of 5, so not sure we'd do it again but it's one to remember. We were greeted by friendly staff who got us up to our toboggans in no time. The rides are dangerous without helmets, but we did it once and the kids and adults had the most thrilling rides with the most breathtaking views. We thoroughly enjoyed this outing and the children will forever remember their tobogganing experience. We recommended it to friends and family who live in SA, but it's a bit too expensive for most living there. Would be nice to visit again. Kids said best ride ever!

Long Tom Pass is a legendary mountain pass that offers a picturesque drive with stunning lookout points and views of mountains and lush valleys. Despite some issues like littering and inconsiderate drivers at viewpoints, the pass provides awe-inspiringly beautiful sights and a fun drive on good road surfaces. It's definitely worth the time for anyone in the area, offering beautiful scenery, peaceful surroundings, and fantastic views along the way.
Last time the Long-Tom cannon was used was here at the battle of the longtom pass during the Anglo-Boer war. Beautiful winding road takes you past this bit of history and you can see why it would have been strategically important to hold this high ground. To be able to fire canons deep into the valley would have given anyone controlling the pass a definative advantage. Worth a visit and woth a picture, for free.

The falls are breath taking. The journey to get there is horrendous! Potholes galore, long remote driving, dirt roads... followed by a long hike into the forest. If you aren't into creepy crawlies, don't do this! Security is an issue. No guided hikes, you are on your own.
Laura-lee H — Google review
Are the roads good? No Is the walk to the falls well kept? No Is it worth it? Yes Horseshoe is beautiful, with pools to explore and very tidy facilities where you can buy drinks and ice cream. There are also triangular chalets that can be rented, however, the road leading to horseshoe falls is so ridden with potholes, you'll probably not want to drive anywhere unless absolutely necessary.

Absolutely beautiful, this waterfall has been kept in its natural state without any rails or man made structures. There is a beautiful forest trail to the waterfall and some natural pools to swim in along the way.

Lone Creek Falls, located just a short drive from Sabie, is a stunning 70-meter waterfall surrounded by indigenous forest. It offers easy pedestrian access and nearby parking. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the falls along with amenities such as picnic facilities, a sandy beach, and a swimming pool. The site has been designated as a national monument due to its picturesque aesthetics and the surrounding indigenous vegetation in the kloof below the waterfall.
This is by far one of my favorite waterfalls in the area for the simple fact that you are so close to it. The spray from the impact is so refreshing as it hits your face and it is so relaxing to just stand there and breathe it in. The waterfall is just a short walk away from the car park and offeres a circular walk to the falls, through some trees and back. There is also a photo opportunity that is quite nice but it can get crowded and it always muddy due to the water. There is the option of a picnic onto of the falls but I never did that personally, so I can't accurately say how it is. I recommend going here with younger children too.

The waterfall is absolutely beautiful, but the road to get there, not so much. We nearly turned back but a car coming from the falls stopped and told us it's worth it. Well, my car survived and it was worth it. The falls are stunning. There are ablutions and a picnic area. Make sure you wear appropriate shoes as it's quite slippery. R50 entrance - card machine.

Went with my husband to see the water fall, We were first at Bridal Vail waterfall and the experience there was much better than lone creek, you walk and it's trees and boom you see the water fall and it's fenced off (unlike bridal Vail waterfall) and then you walk over a bridge and that's it . Nothing interesting or like the same as bridal Vail waterfall where you actually feel nature, have quite a hike and also see flowers, plants, hidden water falls were you can go and even the big watefall you can actually get a rock stand at the back of it feel everything and also we spend a lot more time there than here at lone creek. If we were at lone creek 15min in and out it's alot. We spend 4 hours at Bridal Vail waterfall and it was amazing, beautiful, an experience!! And so special, Would recommend lone creek falls for people who want to walk on concrete with their white Nike's and just have a look at a fenced waterfall to say " they were near the waterfall in Sabie" NOT FOR ADVENTUROUS PEOPLE, DOWN TO EARTH and people who actually want to experience the full course of nature and how beautiful it actually is. GO TO BRIDAL VAIL FALLS !!! I have a review on bridal Vail falls, go have a look at that photos and how beautiful it is people and how it actually looks like a fairytale.

I went there less than a week ago the price has changed to R50pp and it was beautiful with nice photography spots. The only problem l had was the road going there..

Lone creek Falls have forever been a part of my Sabie experience and will continue going forward, Its great to see the are being looked after, managed and cleaned. the additional facilities to braai and have a picnic, but should be managed accordingly as you are in nature and theres no need for cars to be blearing music that you can hear over the waterfall at the waterfall which was slighly dissapointing considering its quite a pricey entry fee to visit the waterfall at R75 per person as a south african resident which the gate keeper wouldnt take no for an answer as the published Prices are R36 at the more expensive end and he stated out ID and or Drivers license was not valid to get the SADC rates
Ruan B — Google review
Mpumalanga does it again with the falls. My only complaint is they have built barricades to restrict people from getting into the water but guys, these places are so gorgeous. Amazing thing about this falls is there is a walk towards the waterfall. The walk is sweet as the vegetation is pretty and soothing. The cherry on the top is the anticipation of the waterfall as it gets louder as u reach closer. Getting there is great, leaving is a problem coz u just won't want to leave. So soothing and amazing. God's creation is just so unchallenged.

Very short Trail, waterfall not very specatular. Better to see other watefalls.
Maria O — Google review
Drive into and out of the falls was very bumpy and LOTS of pot holes. R36 entrance fee is reasonable, kids under 6 are free. Falls are beautiful and scenery well kept. Fencing to keep the crowds out of nature and safe from drowning. With the falls being less than 100m from the parking, very easy to visit.

Bridal Veil Falls, standing at an elegant 70 meters, is a stunning natural wonder that captivates visitors with its delicate beauty. The waterfall's cascading waters resemble a bride’s veil, creating a picturesque scene that enchants all who visit. Located just 6 kilometers from Sabie town, the journey to reach this gem involves a short yet scenic walk from the car park, where breathtaking views of lush greenery and towering cliffs await you.
Wow what can I say, it not the biggest but certainly one of the most beautiful falls, staff are very friendly and we entered without any fuss, it was a small hike to the falls but well worth it, the road towards the falls isn't great so take your time you will be dodging potholes, and from there you will go on a dirt road but the experience is well worth it

This is absolutely beautiful !!! A must go !!! We drove all the way from Gauteng (323km with our motorcycle 🏍️💨 just to see this and it was worth every mile !! It's absolutely beautiful, breathe taking and also looks like something out of a fairytale, when walking you see and feel nature the atmosphere, the hike is awesome and kids and adults that are adventurous can enjoy it. It's a full experience, there are hidden waterfalls aswell, as there are like little paths you can go down, we found hidden waterfalls 😉 and have the most beautiful photos, aswell as the big waterfall were you can actually go close to and isn't fenced off !! I recommend this place over any other waterfall in Sabie by far ( have a look on my other reviews) Love love love and a must !!!

Beautiful nature soeaks for itself, 15minute hike, also beautiful in itself, needed slight maintenance from overgrowth. Fees were payable, ablutions were is good shape. Road to location was shockingly bad!!!
Laurence M — Google review
The entrance fee is R20... it's quite an uphill walk if you are a bit unfit and the path is very slippery at times. Wear comfortable non- slip shoes for this walk. I wore sneakers, and I still slipped and fell on the way down the path. Awesome views on the drive up to the entrance of the falls. This was a gravel road, but way better than most of the tar roads in the area

The breathtaking waterfall, nestled amidst lush greenery and towering cliffs, made the journey more than worthwhile. The surrounding nature added to the charm, making it a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts and photography lovers alike. The short hike to reach the falls was enjoyable and well-marked. However, despite the wonders that awaited us at Bridal Veil Falls, there was one downside that cannot be overlooked - the condition of the road leading to the site. The journey to reach this natural gem was marred by a bumpy and poorly maintained road, which added some discomfort to the trip. Overall it was still a lovely experience.
Yusuf P — Google review
A really beautiful Falls where you can get up close with the fresh spring water. If you carrying a camera I would advise you carry a protective casing to protect your gear. The hike to the Falls is some good cardio too.
DRUNAK — Google review
A short steep walk, but absolutely worth it. The waterfall hasn't seen much rain to form the "veil" yet, but it is still luscious and green and definitely a highlight on the Panorama Route. Entrance is @R15 per adult and they have card facilities. There are bathrooms on site that are in fair condition. Please keep in mind that the gravel road and potholes that lead to the site can be bad.
Wena C — Google review
Areas in the Lowveld received significant amounts of rain during the month of February. The persistent rain has been unprecedented and thus we had to go and see our favourite Sabie waterfall. A trip to the Bridal Veil is never in vain, but oh goodness! this was incredible! In 20 years I've never seen it in this splendor. Be sure to take an umbrella or rain coat, the misty spray is an unavoidable delight. It's regrettable that the road towards the entrance is in such poor condition, but if you take it slow it should be okay. Oh what fun to feel so alive in nature!

Mac Mac Falls is a stunning attraction in Mpumalanga, known for its twin waterfalls that drop 70 meters into a deep gorge. The falls are named after the Scottish miners who came to the area during the gold rush of the 1870s. While swimming at the falls is not permitted due to safety reasons, downstream from Mac Mac Pools offers an ideal spot for picnicking and swimming.
Do not drive past and miss out. Lovely to see. You are not supposed to walk down to the bottom of the falls, bit if you are South African and friendly to the staff they will show you which no entry sign to walk part to get down there.

Absolutely stunning view. It was very easy to find and a quick little walk down. The market ladies were friendly....a little persistent but friendly nun the less. R20 entry is nothing to pay for the experience.

B....E....A.....UUUUtiful falls. Nice and adequate parking and a small stroll to the view point. Do visit this place if you're in Panorama Route. The only thing I don't understand is the ticket for it. Although it's not much but i don't think it's necessary. Per person, it's R25 for SA nationals and R50 for foreigners. A local mentioned it used to be free just a few years ago. Anyway, even with the small fee, one must go. There are some local handicrafts/ souvenirs at the parking area. What I didn't like about this fall was how the view point is made. The fence bars are so high that they block/ hinder the view to this amazing fall. Thankfully i had a drone so i could bypass those bars but i think something like nearby falls (lisbon & berlin) could've been done which doesn't block your view.
Ammar M — Google review
There are several spots where you can sit and look at the waterfall. You just have to climb a few steps. If the first bench is taken, there's another one not far from there. The waterfall is stunning, especially against the backdrop of the side of the rocks. As it hit the bottom, it seemed to be smoking. Reminds me of the native beliefs around water. As usual, I don't post features because you must come see it for yourself. Again, a few ladies and gentlemen are selling things here. I think they could bring in some variety and target local tourists. Probably modernize what's for sale. The lady at security was friendly and efficient.

Short hike to the falls, great to see but the view is a little restricted. However it is definitely a must see when you are visiting the area or doing the Panorama Tour! 🏞️ Falls, Hike, View, Tour, Area. #Waterfall #Hike #Panorama #Travel

The Graskop Gorge Lift Co. is a thrilling recreational area located in the stunning Graskop area of the Panorama Route, south of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. It offers an array of adrenaline-pumping attractions, including the world's tallest cable gorge swing and a highwire zipline spanning the gorge.
Did the forest walk (using the lift in and out), and it was lovely. Very cool and quiet - apart from the occasional screams from the bungee section. Beautiful views all over. The little café on the forest floor is the first place where I've ordered hot chocolate that was actually good.

Graskop Gorge is absolutely breathtaking! The highlight is definitely the glass-front lift that takes you down into the gorge — the ride alone gives you stunning views of waterfalls, cliffs, and lush greenery. Once at the bottom, the forest trail is well laid out, with wooden walkways and suspension bridges that let you explore the indigenous forest at your own pace. The air feels so fresh and calming down there, it’s like stepping into another world. For thrill-seekers, there are ziplines and the famous Big Swing, which send you soaring across the gorge for an unforgettable adrenaline rush. Even if you’re not into extreme adventure, it’s exciting just to watch! The entire place is very well maintained, with a good balance of natural beauty and modern infrastructure. There are also restaurants, shops, and viewpoints at the top, so you can easily spend a few hours enjoying both adventure and relaxation. I loved how peaceful it felt while still being full of energy and activities. Whether you’re into photography, nature walks, or adrenaline sports, Graskop Gorge Lift Co. is a must-visit on the Panorama Route. 🌿🌊✨
Langelihle M — Google review
Beautiful and tranquil. The place is well maintained and gives nice tidbits of knowledge about the plants and wildlife that can be found in the gorge. Entrance is R70 per person, then extra for anything else you want to do (Eg. the gorge lift, zip line or bungy swing) Definitely a world class attraction, but unfortunately can get pricey quite quickly for the South African budget. The facility is wheel chair friendly and has restaurants, curios shops and local craft stalls on site.

This was such a nice experience! Walked over the suspension bridge, and followed the path around, lovely walk and views. Then we went down with the lift into the forest...lovely! We walked the entire route, there were a lot of steps, but good hand rails, and plenty of benches to rest, and most of the route is in the shade.... All 3 of us are above 65, one turning 90, and we all walked the route just fine!!! I highly recommend this outing, it is worth every cent! Well done everyone!

I had an amazing time at Graskop Gorge! 🌄 The highlight was definitely doing the Big Swing it was such an adrenaline rush and an experience I’ll never forget. I hope to it again soon,Walking across the suspension bridge was just as incredible, offering breathtaking views of the gorge and waterfalls. The whole place is beautifully kept, with friendly staff and a safe, welcoming atmosphere. A must-visit if you’re in the area, whether you’re looking for adventure or just stunning scenery.

Scenic views😍🤭..R70 entrance and there's a variety of activities to do with different prices. I liked how the staff advised to get glimpse of all the activities before selecting, these include ziplining, Forest walk and bungee jumping to mention a few. I opted for 40min forest walk (R190) and is breathtaking, a beautiful way to connect with nature. There's a restaurant on site, clean lavatory facilities and friendly staff. Certainly visiting again... Travel and see the world ❤️🥹

This is a magnificent place, fairly new and very educational! You will see a beautiful biotope, made easily accessible to public that might otherwise refrain from strenuous hiking and climbing. I would compare it to the cable car to the top of the Table Mountain in Cape Town. You drive down a glass escalator, several 10s of metres deep, into a gorge forested by a native rainforest which is confined to this (and other gorges and usually not accessible). There you can walk on wooden pathways and hanging bridges, all very safe and easy, and learn about the ecology and biology, flora and fauna of such forests, which are very rare in South Africa. There are many well.thought-through and attractive explanation panels easily understandable for Laymen and showing pictures of the organisms they discuss. The walk is about 1 km long and if you take an additional loop along the vertical wall (to the coffee shop), it will be perhaps 1.5 km long. There, you can also see the sedimentary layers of quartzitic rock and some shale. These rocks are of Archean age, older than 2.5 billion years old! At that time all life on Earth was only bacterial, and you can sometimes recognise such fossilized microbial mats in the quartzite rock as thin dark laminae of around 1 millimetre thickness. Unfortunately not much is explained on geology in the information panels on display. You should google "Wolkberg"- and "Black Reef Formation, Geology", if you want to know more! The panels concentrate on plants and animals living today in the ever moist and cool gorge environment. They are excellent, but Geology should be also part of it, especially as many plants depend on the substrate and nutrients they flourish on. I will certainly come back and spend several hours reading through all the panels and bewondering the nature. Minimum time to spend in the gorge is about 1 hour if you really want to see and learn and have a good adventure. Some ignorants however prefer to waste their time on the Zipline above the gorge hanging like an insect on the line and molesting other people with their excitement shouts and yaleing. Don't African people learn from their mothers to behave quietly in nature and to leave as little footprint as possible in public places?
Wladyslaw A — Google review
Nice safe parking. Good Start. Entrance fee is excessive as it only keep you access to the restaurant, which is useless with zero service and a view or two. You have to pay for using the lift, zip line. You cannot upgrade packages - the most useless system ever. If you bought say a ticket of R250 for something. Then you walk around or enquire and see you can actually include many things - OH NO DONT ASK FOR AN UPGRADE. The people on duty is “just working” there. So they will let R1000 go, instead of upgrade you from a zip line to say buyer jump or whatever. Is it worth it to visit? Yes, once in your life because of the view and the parking is good. That is where it stops. Not a properly ran business. The people are just “working” there.

The facility has been upgraded since its opening in 2016, making it an ideal destination for families.
My daughter and I did the Big Swing yesterday and I give the guys at the top and bottom of our jump 11 out of 10. Reason you are the man! You kept my fear of heights safely at the top.

I feel compelled to share my horrific experience at Graskop Gorge Lift on July 11th, 2025. I went into this experience with excitement and energy; unfortunately, I left injured, deflated, and frankly insulted by the unprofessionalism and lack of concern for my physical safety. While riding the Big Swing, it is the job of the employee at the base of the jump to bring each customer to the ground safely. Instead of this landing moment being one of excitement and joy over the experience, I was slammed into the landing dock. This left bruises and aggravated my hip. Yet, this is not the end of this story. The employee attempted to pass this off as a routine landing that caused no harm or distress, despite my expressions of injury and discomfort. I had to climb up onto the landing spot. Being undermined and dismissed while doing so only added insult to my injury. What I expected was safety. What I needed was someone to help me. What I got was the opposite. While I have yet to learn the full extent of my injuries, I am in pain. Is that what you want for your customers? Do you want people to feel insulted after they paid for a great experience? Do you want your employees to treat your customers with disregard? The employee up top were just as negligent as the employee on the landing zone since he was speaking into a walkie talkie and the employees disregarded him. The entire time I was waiting to jump the employees up top were talking and were extremely distracted so I’m not surprised that the communication was lacking between all employees. I was on a trip with my students so imagine if this would have been one of my students? For the sake of your business, I sincerely hope this never happens again to another customer. I hope to receive a refund for this experience. *the images is from the video that I purchased*

An Adventure I’ll Never Forget! If you’re looking for pure adrenaline and an unforgettable rush, the Big Swing jump is an absolute must! From the moment I stepped onto the platform, my heart was racing — equal parts fear and excitement. The staff were amazing; they made me feel safe and pumped up for the experience with their friendly guidance and professionalism. Then came the leap — wow! The split-second freefall before the swing catches you is one of the most exhilarating feelings I’ve ever had. The wind roaring past your ears, the breathtaking view rushing up at you, and that insane mix of terror and thrill all rolled into one… it’s beyond words. Once the swing kicked in, it felt like I was flying, and the view from up there made it even more magical. It’s the kind of experience that leaves you grinning ear to ear long after you’re back on solid ground. If you love adventure, or even if you just want to challenge yourself, the Big Swing is worth every second of fear for the reward of pure exhilaration. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience! This was the experience of a lifetime. The moment we arrived, we were met with friendly and helpful personnel. The jump was slightly expensive, at R650 per person. But I felt safe all the way through and therefore feel that the amount is worth every sent. I made use of the combo of Big Swing and Zip line at R750 per person. I felt that it was good value. Be sure to add a video of the big swing experience at only R200. It’s of great quality and features good drone footage to start and end your video. The restaurant served chicken burgers at R65 each, and these were tasty. The chicken strips and chips were also tasty and we enjoyed the meal overall - good way to end a great experience!
