Construction going on atm until 2030 at the front but if you take scooter you see beautiful beaches and coast - it’s just one part of the island when there’s so many other wonderful treasures that the island offers

Lots of construction on main beach - no access to beach and a sky full of cranes….id give this place a miss till they finish the work over the next 5 years. We stayed long enough to do a bay day tour (excellent) but the vibe on the main drag sort of ruined it we left a day early

I excepted more, but Cat Ba island is not really what I thought. Everything in the main island is quite basic, constructions, overpriced restaurants, not good quality seafood (some still nice but not all),… Only thing I can enjoy more is going to see the sea with the boat tour: nice sea with sunny light, you can take nice pictures and can go swimming there too, visit some caves bypass,… Think 3 days is enough to visit there.

Beautiful island but massive construction projects, lack of infrastructure general confusion makes it not worth visiting right now Insanely noisy do to huge construction project larger than the existing city. Every cruise or tour I scheduled got cancelled (4 in a row) so unless you’re planning on just eating, drinking and listening to jackhammers all day probably avoid it for now.

I really like this place very beautiful and peaceful, on the main island of Cat Ba there is a small town, but quite modern. People here live by seafaring and tourism, they are trying to catch up with the hustle and bustle of tourists from outside arriving on the island. However, the service here is not always good, when experiencing the restaurant here you should pay the price before ordering.

A picturesque place. Peaceful calm, ideally for both couples and family. Best part is it is also very budget friendly. You can spend a week in less than 500 dollars for a couple while staying in good hotels and good food

Huong Pagoda, set among the mountains and rivers about 60 kilometers from Hanoi, is one of the most famous spiritual sites in Vietnam. The journey itself is part of the experience—you take a boat ride along a peaceful river lined with limestone cliffs before reaching the pagoda complex. The main cave temple is impressive, with natural rock formations combined with sacred shrines, creating a unique atmosphere that feels both majestic and serene. During festival season, it can be very crowded, but outside of that time, the area is calm and offers beautiful scenery. If you’re looking for a mix of cultural exploration, spiritual atmosphere, and natural beauty, Huong Pagoda is worth the trip.

Perfume Pagoda is a complex of Buddhist temples and shrines built in the Hương Tich mountain. This is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Vietnam. I visted this place few years ago and have some notes below: - There is a bus from My Dinh bus station to Perfume Pagoda. The bus will stop at the main road and you can walk abt 2 km from bus stop to the tourist center of Perfume Pagoda that nearby the Ben Duc boat whaft. You buy ticket here and don't forget to get a leaflet to know abt attractions. - The only way to reach Perfume pagoda is by boat and on the way there, the boat will stop at some spots for tourists to have a look. The ticket price includes boat service, but you must share the boat with others and have to wait the boat full (5-6 people) to start the trip. If you want to rent an entire boat for yourself, ask the staff in ticket counter for the price. If you share the boat, you just can visit some main destinations on the tour, and if you don't know people who share the boat with you, it is quite inconvenient abt the time. But if you rent the entire boat, you can discuss with the boatman abt where you want to visit and you are not be rushed by others. - Thien Tru Pagoda and Huong Tich Cave (named "The Most Beautiful Cave Under the Southern Sky") are the 2 must-visit on this trip. From Perfume Pagoda to Huong Tich Cave, you can take a cable car or walk up the mountain. I recommend walking up because it is quite easy with the staircase, just abt 30-60 min and there are some spots you can visit on the way. If you take cable car, you will skip them. - If you can speak Vietnamese, you can chat with locals and hear some intertesting folktales abt the sacredness of this place. I personally, can felt it by myself, so be mindful of your words and your behavior here. Many couples struggling with infertility come here to pray for a child. - First 3 months of lunar year is pilgrimage season and Perfume Pagoda Festival is one of the Vietnam’s largest Buddhist celebration, so has many activities to enjoy. Though, if you are nt a pilgrim and don't like long crowds and long lines, you should avoid these months. The best time to visit is the fall (Aug -Oct), weather is great, not too crowded and can see a lot of blooming lotus, water lilies on the river. - If you want to visit some main attractions and explore the other surrounding temples, it will take a whole day, you should start your trip in the early morning.

First night at Hanoi and we were recommended to visit this avenue. Great singers and rock band with cool vibes. It's located in the heart of a large hipster building complex, surrounded by multiple shops and hangout spots. Perfect for an evening out! Basic drinks and cocktails are on the menu.

Very interesting place to visit, unique history, set in a remote location, surrounded by beautiful vistas. To get to any of the 15 pagodas in this area you must travel by boat. The Huong Pagoda was 3km upriver and you must visit the local temple as part of the journey. It's a very tranquil way to start. The Pagoda itself is set up a short but steep walk up from the shore, and is maintained by a group of working monks. Unique to this Pagoda, is that is a monk dies here, they are given their own tomb on the grounds, and they're cast as a statue, and after 200 years the statue will be painted gold, as it is believed they have achieved enlightenment as a Buddha. The star attraction is the cave at the top of the nearby mountain, said to be the restimg place of a king's daughter. You can walk to the summit (3,400 steps) but unless you are very, very fit you'll want to take the cable car. There is still another 200 or so steps to the summit, before you decend into a very stunning and tranquil cave. Overall I'd say it's well worth the visit, however there are a few things to be aware of: 1) There is a festival here Jan-Mar, that attracts 2mil worshippers. The river is choked with boats, and it is shoulder to shoulder walking room. This in itself would be an experience. 2) The place is step up to sell to those visitors during the festival - everywhere the path is lined with makeshift shops and restaurants all the way to the summit. Outside of the festival time period the majority of these are closed, so you are walking past walls of tarps. 3) The heat - there is nowhere to hide from it. Especially on high humidity days. There are no air-conditioned buildings, just fans and refrigerated drinks. A number of our group suffered heat exhaustion, and there was little relief until we were back on the bus.

Very impractical set up. Standard let's walk up a mountain temple. Nice temple complex. What is bad is the people who run the site. You need a 30-minute rowboat trip to get to the site which is romantic and beautiful in nice weather in the rain not so much . You pay according to the amount of people in a little row boat and they will make you wait until the boat is full or charge you extra. When we arrived cold and damp we walked up the mountain to go to the cable car to bring us to the temple complex. Very slippery in the rain. Unfortunately, as signs are in Vietnamese we missed that tickets were not available at the cable car but back half way down the mountain. Also we would have to wait to get enough people in the cable car we weren't allowed to go by ourselves??. Being tired wet and cold we decided to just call it a day and go home. On return to the docks to get the boat back. We saw that there were motorboats going up and down the river and asked if we could take one as we were not looking forward to another wet uncomfortable trip. This was not possible not only did they not want to help us we had to pay extra to leave early. Very unfriendly staff and hardly any English spoken.

A major pilgrimage place for the Vietnamese people. The pilgrimage goes on in January February March. Praying there is believed to be able to overcome conception issues. If you have a baby you have to come back every year for 18 year ;)

Advice: show up EARLY, like right at opening or at nap time. Otherwise you’ll be here with the tour buses of middle aged viet aunties in ao dai doing photo shoots and gossiping 😂🇻🇳 So beautiful, I’ve been in Vietnam for 8 years and was skeptical to pay 150k for an entrance ticket. However as a lover of nature, architecture and traditional handicrafts I was in awe. Such a unique blend of time periods and styles. Read the pamphlet and you’ll understand the sort of confusing yet harmonious hotpot of motifs, materials and styles. There’s shade, a coffee shop with good prices, and it’s dense- I spent about an hour exploring and then another 40 minutes in the cafe people watching.

Beautiful spot to take photos, just packed with photogenic spots around the areas of the building, decent car park. Well organized and very clean, generally well maintained. Entry price would seem reasonable in EU, but feels bit high here. However it's quite special and unique, so if you are looking for some pretty photos, it's worth the price of admission.

Wow this place caught me off guard. Learned so much about ancient building techniques. It's a living history type outdoor space, where full scale village homes are displayed. You can walk into these homes and gain great insight into how different indigenous people built their homes and conducted home life. If low on time, skip the initial craft exhibit area and go straight out back to the homes. Must visit!

Love this place! Very informational on the cultural practices and rituals of different ethnic groups. Love to see all the artifacts and house models. The experience climbing into different stilt houses was also memorable. Very well organized and enjoyable ! Highly Recommended !

If you have some time in Hanoi, this is a great place to learn more about Vietnamese culture. 🎟️ Ticket prices: 40k VND for adults (over 18) and 20k VND for children. ⏱️ The visit usually takes around 1–2 hours. Inside, the museum has AC which makes it very comfortable, and outside you can explore beautiful traditional houses. You can also choose to watch a water puppet show for an additional 50k VND. There’s also a nice café near the exit where you can relax after your visit. Highly recommended for families and anyone interested in local traditions!

It was a little difficult to find the entrance to the grounds when coming from the museum. Once inside the grounds it was very peaceful. Seeing the house that Ho Chi Minh lived in and strategized Viet Nam’s independence from was surreal.

It is behind the Presidential Palace, Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House is the cozy little spot in Hanoi. It is secured by military officials. Dress respectfully. It’s just a simple wooden house on stilts where Uncle Ho actually lived and worked, surrounded by fruit trees and a pond. You can walk up the tiny stairs and peek into his modest bedroom and study, with the old radio and books still there. Its a look into the simple life of Uncle Ho. Absolute must-see in Hanoi!

Such a great part of history to witness! Growing up, I studied the Vietnam War and was delighted to be able to see the house where he lived and worked up close. Things were well protected in glass cabinets and behind a wooden fence.

Beautiful area in its own right which you come to after following the path from the mausoleum. Good to see how living was back then for a man of this stature and how his environment was adapted with age. Again walk around given path, no real waiting but you can take photos.

I am happy to have a chance to see Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House up close. I don't know when we will not be able to get any closer to the house anymore like most of the other historical buildings in the world. This is a wood construction, and the type of wood will last more than a thousand years, based on the tour guide.

Growing up I heard so much about Ho Chi Minh so it was rather special to visit this incredibly humble house. It says a lot about the man. The house is a simple wooden stilt house, reflecting Ho Chi Minh's modest lifestyle. It has been preserved as a museum, allowing visitors to see the living quarters and personal belongings of Ho Chi Minh. The Stilt House is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is part of the larger Presidential Palace complex, which includes other historical buildings and structures.

It is an extra option of 40,000 VND (~1.65 USD) for visiting Ho Chi Minh’s working place and his house. There is not much besides old house and his personal belonging. For Vietnamese it’s free I guess. Well if you already flew here why not spend a little more money to see historical place and take some photo for whatever.

Beautiful grounds with the palace and mausoleum. We went right when it opened at 7:30 and there were no crowds. It was easier to appreciate the grandness of it all without tons of your groups. Much of the grounds are blocked off, but guards were friendly and made it clear where to go.

A fascinating and respectful place to visit. The complex is well maintained and the atmosphere is calm and dignified. The queue was long but moved quickly, and the guards were very professional. It took around two hours in total, including security checks and walking through the site. It was quite hot and humid, so bring water and dress comfortably. A meaningful and highly recommended experience to learn about an important part of Vietnam’s history.

I'm Anthony, and these are my kneecaps. I was allowed in. My shorts were just touching the tops of my kneecaps. I asked the guard if it was a bit higher, then demonstrated to him, would I be let in? He said no. The security is strict at the metal detector. Ba Dinh Square itself is free to visit. The Ho Chi Minh Museum and the Stilt House area are an additional charge. Viewing the HCM mausoleum from the outside is free. There was a very nice volunteer tour orginazation giving free tours. Definitely recommend reaching out to them.

Nice place to visit - well laid out wide avenues with the parliament building, ministry of defence and then main attraction - the mausoleum are very good. I believe parade happens here on special occasions like independence day and other special national events day. That must be a grand spectacle!

It must have been graduation photo day because it was unbelievably crowded, and there was another event happening inside as well. Still, it definitely felt like I was visiting a major landmark. It’s a place that becomes much more enjoyable when you read the explanations. Since it has a long history and many stories related to Confucius and his disciples, I recommend reading the brochures or information panels. *Free admission for children under 13. *Adults: 70,000 VND.

This is a very pleasant place to visit. We pais 70k per adult and we enjoyed our time foi g around the different buildings. There are souvenir shops inside, as well as a man who will do a writing of your choosing (e.g. prosperity) for 100k per piece - which I think it is a great gift to give to someone (plus it is very interesting to see him doing it).

Let me tell you that this museum is exactly what I needed to see in Hà Nội! It’s worth visiting if you’re a student or interested in pedagogy, too, because it shows how far civilisation has come to develop to the levels we have today. I can see why it’s such an important historical landmark, not just in Vietnam, but Asia and worldwide.

Stepping into Hoa Lo Prison was like walking back in time. The dark cells, heavy doors, and detailed exhibits created a somber atmosphere that really conveyed the weight of its history. The information throughout was clear and engaging, making the stories of the past feel vivid and real. It wasn’t crowded during my visit, so I could wander quietly and reflect, spending about an hour inside. The entry fee was very reasonable for such a powerful experience. With half the site outdoors and little air conditioning inside, the heat added to the intensity of the visit. A haunting yet unforgettable stop in Hanoi.

Nice place. You will get to see the history of the prison, the way they showcasing the history with the realistic statues will make you feel standing there back then. Well preserved and details written everywhere. Even without the audio guide also you will understand everything.

Definitely worth a visit if you want to learn about Vietnam’s history during the French occupation and the Vietnam War. The displays are eye opening and tell the story really well. It is sad to see how prisoners were kept shackled before execution, but it gives real perspective on what they went through. A powerful place to visit and highly recommended.

HOA LO (HANOI HILTON) prison will be of great interest for anyone who has taken the time to research Vietnam's history, and it's struggles with transient foreign powers. The setting underlines the incredible will power of the Vietnamese people to endure inhuman treatment at the hands of external aggressor's. In recent years the prison was synonymous for detaining American pilots, downed during 'missions'. The facility is well visited by the local citizens and tourists alike. There are audible guides freely available which allow you to comfortably solo guide through the setting. The venue is well maintained, very informative and th staff are helpful. What more can you ask for.

Situated in the city and easy to reach from the old quarters. Only a small portion of the original facility remained. Lots of exhibits showing the history and condition of the prisoners and we were able to walk into the cells as well. Worth a visit if you have never visited a prison.

Hands down one of the best museums I've been to. There are three floors of educational content that really take you through the expectations, roles, and experiences of women in Vietnamese culture and history, and you will feel moved by many of the displays. The second floor, which was about women's role in war, was especially informative and interesting. I also highly recommend getting the audio-guided tour if you want the full experience - it's only 40k dong and they have it in Vietnamese, English, Chinese, Korean, and French. The whole guided audio tour will take about an hour and a half and will tell you about all of the displays you see. I know they also have an option of a human guide, but I think the audio guide was very, very detailed. I'd do it again if I were back in Hanoi. Must-see to really get a feel of the history of Vietnam, learn how women contribute to the people's victory during the Vietnam war, and of course also learn about family life and childbirth in the country.

We arrived at opening time. You work your way through three floors of displays broken up into subjects and themes. Very well laid out with signs explaining everything. I did come across one section where the door was closed and the room was dark, but looking through the glass of the door it looked like something was inside. I opened the door and the lights came on. It was a whole area that I would have missed if I hadn't tried the door. Everything in the museum was interesting but my favorites were the clothing. Unique, colorful, and beautiful. If you are looking for something relaxing, or need to get out of the heat or rain, and would like to learn something at the same time, this is a good place to visit.

Outstanding museum dedicated to women's contribution to the life, society, culture, economy and war effort in Vietnam. Properly structured across 3 floors, it is a lovely display of objects interspersed with detailed captions and explainer write-ups. The audio-guide is a must because it is very well curated in alignment with he exhibits and has more context to offer than what you just see in front of you. It is difficult to point out a favorite gallery because each one is better than the other - though the war effort gallery was quite an emotional journey to go through. All objects and writings curated beautifully.

One section explains the different cultural tradition related to major events in the life of women. Another section displays their contribution during time of prolonged war. The objects are well explains by means of a detailed and easily readable description in English as well for foreign tourist This place is tickted The objects are well preserved and premises is well maintained. One of the fascinating place to get an idea about the traditional dresses of Vietnam People. Though of long back styles, these fits well to modern ethnic wear. The bridal sections are colourful & awesome. One has to spend at least 2 hours for a leisure go around. A well curated - not to miss museum

Such a unique and educational experience with tons of engaging knowledge and forms of media! My major criticism about this place is I would’ve loved to have one of these posters or artwork pieces as a postcard to take home. Instead, the gift shop was full of AI art that discouraged me from buying much from there. I think changing that inventory would make it a top tier museum

Superb! Great photos and real life stories of the remarkable women in Vietnam…go, see it is truly wonderful and thought provoking! We left with a huge respect for Vietnamese women of the past, present and future. We bought tickets at the door …v reasonable at 40,000 each!

We visited this lake as part of a city tour. The stories told by our guide were certainly more interesting than the surrounding scenery and attractions. It's definitely a must-see if you're staying in Hanoi.

In English it is known as lake of returned sword It’s one of the most famous tourist spot for visitors and hangout spot for locals The circumference of lake is paved for joggers. At evening lot of crowd gather at square near lake to enjoy the serene atmosphere with local music bands /individuals playing music. There are lot of vendors selling food to tourist No ticket required to visit here. There is a famous temple located at the islet in the lake reached via wooden bridge that lighted from evening. The lake is habitat to giant turtles ,few bodies of turtles are preserved and displayed in the temple. There is also a old tower at midst of lake. A must visit place in Hanoi.

Loved our morning stroll along Hoan Kiem Lake just around the old quarters. Beautiful view, fresh air, and plenty of space to walk as the paths are wider than the streets that most are used to. Came across a few runners, countless walking, and numerous couples, families, and friends opting for photography with this beautiful lake. Can't blame them! There is a bridge that requires some sort of entry fee to receive access but today we simply soaked in the experience. Locals clearly love to gather around this place too. A temple at the centre of the lake is within view. The greenery and garden surrounding the lake is so well taken care of. Saw several locals watering and caring for it during our stroll.

Such a magic place to visit, perfect for a casual walk after a feed or even to get some exercise in. Seeing the locals exercise around the lake gives you a feeling of happiness and calm. It's truely beautiful ✨️❤️

To have this lake in the middle of Hanoi is such a respite from the hustle bustle of the old quarters. It's breezy and calm, and seems to absorb all the frenzy within it. Love sitting by the lake on cloudy morning or breezy evenings and chewing away on my banh mi. Highly recommend to stay close the lake, preferably with lake facing views from hotels when visiting as a tourist.

This is a great site to go for a walk and see some of Hanoi. There are other sites nearby this lake, as well as a plethora of places to eat and drink.

Hoan Kiem Lake is the calm heart of Hanoi — a beautiful place to walk, relax, and enjoy the city’s atmosphere. Surrounded by trees, cafés, and local life, it’s especially charming in the evening when the lights reflect on the water. Peaceful, scenic, and a must-see in the Old Quarter.

The show was really good! It was fun and playful but kept it's traditional ways. You can hire an audio guide for an extra 50,000. It tells you about what is going on and some history but it is not essential you can enjoy without. If you are shorter I recommend paying for a closer seat but otherwise you can see. You can go to the theatre to see the availability for tickets and times and but them ahead of time. Recommend booking ahead as some days are booked out. It is also cheaper there then going via any websites!

It's a must watch if you are in Hanoi... its a unique experience with live music n voice over by their renowned artists. You need not know the language just pick up the brochure before entering the hall and you can totally understand what is being performed. Short stories are narrated and its just 50 minutes show. So just relax and enjoy this magical show .

I love the show. I love the music too. It is a way to experience Vietnam culture. The tickets at the door are about USD$4.50. Online will cost you $13. The only convenience thing of buying online is that you can buy it ahead because in certain occasions they are sold out.

The atmosphere is lively, the traditional music is beautiful, and the whole vibe feels very authentically Vietnamese. The musicians especially were fantastic - their energy and skill added so much to the performance. That said, the entire show is in Vietnamese, so I couldn’t understand a word of the narration or dialogue. It didn’t ruin the experience, but it did make it harder to follow the storyline in some scenes. Still, the visuals, puppetry, and cultural elements were enjoyable enough that I didn’t mind too much.

The concept of the show is truly unique and an important part of Vietnamese tradition. However, the way it is presented could be much better. There are different episodes, but they are not really connected to each other. There is no clear storyline, and overall the performance feels a bit fragmented. For tourists who don’t understand the local language, it is especially difficult to follow. The translation service, which comes at a high price, does not really solve the problem — it is very partial and often unclear. You don’t know what the songs are about, and the meaning of the performance is easily lost. Because this is such a significant cultural event, I expected more in terms of storytelling, accessibility, and translation quality. Still, it’s worth seeing once to experience a unique part of Vietnamese culture.

Traditional Vietnamese wooden puppet show that explores different episodes depicting traditional Vietnamese rural lifestyle. Story and songs are all in Vietnamese, however you do have the choice to buy an audio guide that explains the meaning of the different episodes that you are watching. It's not a full translation of the dialogues that at times take place, however it is helpful to understand the basic storyline. It is a very unique show that is worth attending. Buying tickets in advance is recommended as shows do sell out quickly.

About two hour drive from Hanoi. This golf club has three nine holes for golfers to mix and play. It is very hilly, with water and hunker hazards adding to the challenge in getting good scores.

Beautiful ancient temple but it seems a little bit rundown. Must-go destination if you want to learn more about difference between Northern and Southern Vietnam temples.

Interesting if you like temples. One of the few things to do and see in Hai Phong. The trek passes through a busy road with markets and stalls nearby. The temple is impressive and well looked after with lots of activity, however unless you are interested in temples you won't need much time to spend here.

I heard this temple is very famous to local and people from far away. They come to meet the monk to beg for luck. The temple is within walking distance of local market, so there's always crowded. Parking inside the temple is free; outside 10k vnd.

Great for cruising around the rock formations. This is the main cave (Surprise Cave?). It was quite crowded with a pretty step coming up.

Built over a thousand years ago & could be considered the oldest Temple in the whole of Haiphong. Historical wise the temple was the scene of patriotic fervour against colonial rule during the 1920s

Du Hang Pagoda was established in 17th century. Inside the pagoda are several statues that are intricately engraved in the style of the Nguyen Dynasty.

An old temple, there is a pogada, though on Saturday afternoon, but few people, especially very few young people, you can witness the tich culture and heritage of Buhdism in this culture; Made a friend here as well, we travelled to another interesting temple nearby as well

At first, we planned to go hiking, but once we got there… we immediately decided to take the cable car instead 😆 The journey was pretty easy since we just followed Google Maps. There aren’t many accommodation options in the area—just one resort with direct access to Yen Tu Mountain. The ride itself was super fun! We got to enjoy endless green scenery along the way 🌿 If you’re in Hanoi and looking for an alternative destination, you should definitely check this place out. Totally worth it! 😉

Breathtaking views, great cable-car system, holy sites and a healthy climb (even with using the cabe -car). It is a very much underrated place in the north of Vietnam. Most foreigners are not even aware of the beauty of the mountain and its pagodas. The local vendors are friendly, have everything from souvenirs to fresh coconut and cold beer. Excellent photo-ops, but so much more. Make sure to visit Yen Tu when in Hanoi or nearby.

It’s cool that just 30 minutes from Hai Phong you can climb the mountains and get an amazing view and see such a rich nature, breath the freshest air🥰 Everything is organized in the best way. You can even get free water, buy food, souvenirs in many places. I sincerely recommend to visit this spot👍 Vietnam is a truly amazing country🥰

My favorite site in Vietnam, breathtaking and not much tourists!

I visited here on Lunar New Year and it was extremely crowded, so many many people from everywhere came. This place is very huge. There are 2 ways to go visit the temple on top of Yen Tu mountain - take the cable car and hike up or just only do hiking up. Because I didn’t have much time, then I chose to take the cable car and do hiking in some parts. Omg, the view is incredible, I love it. My private tour guide chose to do hikking up and we met on the top of the mountain. The way to do hikking is not difficult, even the 80 years old lady can do too, I met her on the way when I was very close to the temple on the top of mountain (definitely she did with her family, not alone). Only 1 small temple on the top of mountain but everyone come there for it. From here, you can see the view 360 degrees, so beautiful! But 1 thing I don’t like is - the safety on the top of mountain. It will be ok if you visit here on normal day, not holidays or Lunar new year because no many people. No any fences around the rocks and if many people go there at the same time, you will be hustled in the crowd. But anyway, this place is nice to go visit, just be careful when you are on the top of mountain.

Considered as "the ancestral land of Buddhism". An even more interesting thing is the dividing line between Quang Ninh and Bac Giang provinces. If the East belongs to Quang Ninh province, the West of this pagoda belongs to Bac Giang province. If you don't mind crowds, and want to participate in interesting activities at the temple, you can go from January 10 to March of the lunar calendar. This is the time of the Yen Tu Spring Festival, so there are quite a few tourists from all over the world to visit. Roadside restaurants have affordable and acceptable prices You might consider staying at Legacy Resort Yen Tu

Do Son Beach in Haiphong is really beautiful! Just a 45-minute drive from the city center, there are plenty of hotels and resorts, and the local food around is very affordable! Although some private resorts by the beach require an entrance fee, we are so happy here and miss the time when we lived by the sea. Make sure to add Do Son Beach to your travel list! ☀️🏖️

Top beach in Hai Phong city

It was nice to swim around. The water is brown, and some people say that this colour has nothing to do with dirt but only with the composition of the soil in the red river and around that coastal area. I don't know 😊😊 Around the beach there are plenty of restaurants and some places where you can store your stuff and take a shower on your way back from the beach. Overall not the best beach I've been to in my life, however, probably one of the best nearby Hanoi.

First time on a cruise in Halong Bay. The rooms were decent. The bathroom was see through and flooded every time the shower was used. The crew were friendly, polite and looked after us well. The food and drinks were average. The spring roll making and karaoke was great fun. I wouldn't stay overnight again as it was difficult to sleep with the sounds of water splashing against the boat all night.

We did a 2 night cruise, and had 2 different guides who didn’t communicate and the second day was a repeat of the first, so we stayed on the boat. The food was average and the room wasn’t cleaned on the second day, which is awful when u can’t flush the toilet paper. Also my husband and 3 Kiwis got an upset stomach after night 2. The food looked good but didn’t taste good. The boat is old and tired and has fake grass covering the uneven deck. Please consider paying a bit more and choose something a bit better.

We had a lovely cruise on Halong Bay on Lavender Cruise. Alex, our tour guide was friendly and informative and provided an enjoyable cruise ensuring we ticked off the highlights of the bay including Ti Top Island and Secret Cave. Alex is extremely knowledgeable about the area and ensured we made it to Secret Cave before the crowds on the second morning. The crew on board the boat ensured we were well fed and looked after. Highly recommend.

One of the best experiences during my stay in Vietnam. The cruise was booked last minute because other cruise company tried to cheat us. And we are so happy we booked Lavender cruise at the end. The guide Bobby is very nice, helpful and tried to make everything so the passangers were satisfied. They upgraded our room so we had a big corner room surrounded by windows with stunning view. Main attractions of the cruise - Titop island, kayaking and Surprising cave are very crowded but thanks to Bobby we had kayaking only by our small group. There are also night attractions - karaoke and squid fishing. The food on the ferry is very delicious. Mostly they serve seafood so if you have other preferences you need to inform them in advance. The cocktails on board are quite expensive (6-7$ per one) but it is a common practice on ferry cruises in Hà long. We were very lucky to have a great weather and to meet great people on the boat so if I could, I would rate this cruise 6 out of 5 because everything was way better than we expected.

Took one of their vessels on a two-day tour with a group. Had a very pleasant stay. All looked clean and staff was very friendly. I enjoyed my stay on board.

our corner rooms were the largest and quite comfortable with decent beds and lots of windows to look out. the food was plentiful and decent. the transportation from hanoi wasn’t very comfortable but the way back was in a different bus and quite good.

Best during summer time *April to September* ONLY It was quite cold and very few ppl on the cruise. In such a case ideally the cruise should cancel so that there are more people and as everyone knows- the more the merrier!! Unfortunately for us the day was gloomy and cold. Sun was out only the next morning. Our guide Victor was really good and a sweet chap. Kayaking, trampoline, Jacuzzi was fun. We couldn’t swim as it was so cold. The food on the cruise was just alright. For the first meal they ran out of a few dishes, which seems illogical considering the number of people!! The second meal was decent, the third and last meal was like a favor on us! So so poor. Id recommend you to carry a few things from the city- snacks, tea/coffee and most importantly water. The bar staff and servers were sweet. Rooms were really spacious. Included toiletries. I find it weird they ask us to leave the room by 8.30-9am. It simply pointless as we waited a long time at the restaurant level to get to the port and then into the boat. So be prepared to wake up early after a long party night. Besides the worst part was the house keeping simply walks into your room. Zero sense of security!

Given 3 stars as the cruise it self was good ...but after reading some reviews ..it is easy to get relieved of you're money pretty easy with out a full explanation what services you should have taken part in ..DO NoT buy from a ticket tout even in the main cruise building ..or hotel you will end up paying heaps more and trying to track the tout should anything go wrong is a knight mare...go to the main desk ..ask what options are ..such as what food and what excursions you wish to go on like the row boat as that costs more on to you're ticket ..beware don't rush Into purchasing a ticket from just anyone you won't get the full enjoyment otherwise

Great experience. The food was delicious, the room spacious and clean. The only con was the cold water at the shower. We met nice people, we played cards, danced and had a good time together.

This was a let down considering the amount of money we paid. The hot tubs were cold (and it was barely 15 degrees outside). The “happy hour” was buy 2 get 1 free but had to be cocktails (the website said 2 for 1 any drinks). Drinks were expensive and the bar tending was slow especially considering there was only 25 other people on the cruise. We asked if more people would be joining us and they lied, saying there would be others joining us the next day. On the last day we were not fed lunch (despite it being on the itinerary) and so if you didn’t get up for breakfast (which was at 7am) you didn’t eat until 6pm that night back in Hanoi. Wish I had not purchased this expensive cruise.

Five star cruise, five star service, great hosts, great staff, good food and the party night was amazing.

We booked February 16-17 2023, The jacuzzis were all freezing (except for the smallest one which has a capacity of 6 on a boat carrying 70 passengers), on a day where the temperature was 17°c and the staff kept lying to us saying "it is heating for the big party tonight" which we later discovered was only to make us shut up. Also didn't do the drinking games they promised us, there was zero animation and the alcohol is fairly expensive for vietnam. We basically paid over 200$ for a kayaking trip. Ha long bay itself is nice though, you should book with another boat

We booked this tour from our hotel (Fancy Hotel in HaLong). We were picked up from the hotel and were delivered right at the tour boat. The guide spoke English well and was enthusiastic and energetic. Lunch was provided on the boat as well. This tour took us to caves, islands, beaches and kayaking spots and provided us with enough amazing views. We chose this day tour instead of the one night two days tour, and I didn't regret that decision for a second. Would definitely recommend this tour!

We had an overnight trip. On our boat we were happy with the room and it really was a 5 star service at meal times. Some guests didn't appreciate this and declined to dine with in this group occasion or dress for it. Most of these were smokers, who'd rather sit outside, puffing on a cigarette. The cave visit was impressive but the beach experience was a disappointment as way too crowded. The islands are lovely but expect dozens of other boats to be with you, it could be done as a day excursion but the 2.5 hour drive from Hanoi could make this an exhausting day. As ours was an overnight cruise, the boat parked up for the night and the following day another excursion was on to try rowing or canoeing. Overall it was good. P.S. it's a climb up and down steps for the cave, not suitable for everyone.

Didn't enjoy it, lots of wait, and wait and wait, every excursion is not worth it, kayaking and visit some hospital in a cave on some remote island, tour guide speaks in a microphone repeats the same uninteresting facts. Rooms were fine, service of staff was okay and view landscape was the only nice thing. Maybe I'm difficult but it's my opinion and expectations were not met.

The cruise is a must if visiting the Harlong Bay area. Only gripe water isn't free, a small bottle costs $1, drinks sold at inflated prices. Fortunately I was given the heads up by someone in the travel industry. Bring your own water or purchase from the small boats that float past the ship.

Traveled on the Au Co as part of a large (50+ person) wedding group. Beautiful ship with extremely friendly and caring staff. The kitchen team went out of their way to ensure my partner with multiple food allergies (celiac, oranges, soy, sunflower oil among them) was able to partake in all meals. Highly recommended.

The best ever experience I got, having a most unforgetable moment journey with this luxury cruise. Everything was perfect. We really loved our 3-day, 2-night cruise, it felt like a soft landing in Ha Long Bay. The staff were incredibly kind, generous, and always eager to accommodate anything we needed. The trip was well-organized and peaceful, with just the right amount of activities like kayaking, cave & pearl farm visits, swimming... easy and enjoyable for both adults and kids. It was also a very family-friendly experience. Our kids felt welcome, and the staff made them feel seen and included, which made it that much more special. Something small that didn’t resonate with us as much, though offered in good spirit was live Vietnamese violinist playing a Vietnamese violin. He played beautifully, but only Western/American songs - which felt a little disconnected from the local setting. We would’ve loved even one or two Vietnamese pieces to connect more deeply with the culture. During the spring roll-making demonstration (which was fun, cute, and surprisingly practical to learn how to make them) hygiene could be improved. Only hand sanitizer was used by staff and guests, versus everyone washing their hands and having gloves available for all. That said, overall it was a lovely and memorable experience. A clean, calm, and welcoming cruise that helped us experience Ha Long Bay in a relaxing, effortless way. We’re so glad we did it.

Beautiful 3 day 2 night trip with Bhaya Legend 4. The cabins, dining room and sun deck are amazing. The breakfast, lunch and dinner are delicious. Kevin, the boat manager, took great care of us. The cruise was fine however was very disappointed with the village trip, this looked like a staged village with restraunts setup by the cruise company. Booked 1 night stay and plan to visit the caves by canoe but the village trip took the afternoon up and due to 1 night stay the only offer to canoe to the caves was at 7:15am. Would have been better time spent in the afternoon canoeing and visiting caves rather than the village and offer village trip next day. Feel.like it's been to commercialised to warrant 5 stars.

My wife and I had an amazing cruise. Transfer to and from our hotel in Hanoï was organised for us, we were on a small 3 cabin boat, in a wooden cabin with all comfort and equipment we needed. The crew spoke English, and were very helpful, especially Phuc, always making sure we were having a nice trip. We had a private cruise with the baya legend with two friends! Kevin and his staff made our stay unforgettable! From delicious food, to nice kayak trips in deserted areas and tasteful cocktails, all was there in a very comfortable and enjoyable environment! Highly recommended! 5 stars

Construction going on atm until 2030 at the front but if you take scooter you see beautiful beaches and coast - it’s just one part of the island when there’s so many other wonderful treasures that the island offers

Lots of construction on main beach - no access to beach and a sky full of cranes….id give this place a miss till they finish the work over the next 5 years. We stayed long enough to do a bay day tour (excellent) but the vibe on the main drag sort of ruined it we left a day early

I excepted more, but Cat Ba island is not really what I thought. Everything in the main island is quite basic, constructions, overpriced restaurants, not good quality seafood (some still nice but not all),… Only thing I can enjoy more is going to see the sea with the boat tour: nice sea with sunny light, you can take nice pictures and can go swimming there too, visit some caves bypass,… Think 3 days is enough to visit there.

Beautiful island but massive construction projects, lack of infrastructure general confusion makes it not worth visiting right now Insanely noisy do to huge construction project larger than the existing city. Every cruise or tour I scheduled got cancelled (4 in a row) so unless you’re planning on just eating, drinking and listening to jackhammers all day probably avoid it for now.

I really like this place very beautiful and peaceful, on the main island of Cat Ba there is a small town, but quite modern. People here live by seafaring and tourism, they are trying to catch up with the hustle and bustle of tourists from outside arriving on the island. However, the service here is not always good, when experiencing the restaurant here you should pay the price before ordering.

A picturesque place. Peaceful calm, ideally for both couples and family. Best part is it is also very budget friendly. You can spend a week in less than 500 dollars for a couple while staying in good hotels and good food

Amazing experience! We took a ferry boat here and had about 30 mins to explore the caves. Would definitely recommend it if visiting Ha Long Bay!

Nice visit. They do have tour guides you can pay for that will explain everything. Just took the self guided tour. Many steps. So if you have trouble walking this is not for you.

This cave is located in the Halong Bay area, you need to climb a fairly high staircase to get there. The view from the top of the cave is also very beautiful with a view of Halong Bay. The atmosphere inside the cave is quite dark, but at some points there are colorful lights shining on the cave rocks. There are quite a lot of tourists visiting, since there is no entrance ticket.

Prepare to climb a few flights of stairs. This cave is very welcoming to tourists, focusing more on the views rather than the physical challenges of entering a cave. The cave is well-lit, paved, and safe. No life-threatening route.

Amazing place! The cave is very large, beautiful, and truly unique. I didn’t expect such an extensive cave system. It's also quite accessible for older visitors, even those around 60. Unfortunately, it was very crowded when we started going up. We were almost at a standstill for about 30 minutes at the beginning, with occasional progress of 1-3 steps at a time. The views are exceptional, and there are some great, unique souvenirs available for purchase.

Good people, very friendly and helpful. In the morning there is not often someone at the desk as they are preparing food for breakfast. You have different options for breakfast. 4 egg options and 1 pancake option. Due to some problems we decided to stay longer and that was no problem. Our laundry didn't feel properly done though as it felt like a lot of softener was used but no stains were really removed. Other downside was that the elevator didn't work for 2 times/days. But there was construction going on next door so I think that was the problem. All in all good nice hotel.

Service was amazing! Breakfast was very simple, just eggs or an average pancake. Location was great! Rooms were clean, door didn't close properly for the private bathroom but that didn't bother us much. Was very happy here

Rather overpriced. Photos look much better. This is a very basic room worth 10$ not 20$+ We saw they used to have a great breakfast... But reading the other reviews they have changed it after Covid. It was a disaster. We decided to skip the breakfast the following days. They send you to the neighbour hotel. It is the most horrible buffet we had in Vietnam. Consisting of just some toast and awful soup. Owner seems to do some drill where he offers to help whenever we need, but this all seems fake.

This is such a nice little hotel. My wife and I stayed four nights in a double room with very spacious beds and everything was super clean. The breakfast was nice. The cheese and ham omelette can be recommended. The people who run the hotel are also really sweet. They helped us rent a scooter and extend our stay with two more nights. This place is such good value. The only downside is that the rooms are not that well sound isolated within the building, but it does a pretty good job keeping the noise from outside away. And the hotel is nicely located a bit away from the main street.

Stayed here for three nights in a private room. The location was really good and the staff were mostly helpful and friendly. The room was spacious and clean, no complaints at all there. Price was very decent. The negatives for me was that the hotel lacked a bit of personality, which is why I don't give it the highest grade. This is maybe something that not every traveler seeks, but personally I enjoy a hotel with charisma and a good vibe, and here it was a little bit stale unfortunately.

Amazing quality for a great price. Been traveling Southeast Asia for two months now and this is one of the more memorable hotels. Good location. Very clean. Quiet. Huge beds. Delicious breakfast. I came with my friend for her bday and the staff helped me arrange to put a birthday cake and champagne in her room (which I paid a little extra for) but then they also got her a beautiful bouquet of flowers which made the room smell so good.

Beautiful beach with great views. There’s a walkway that connects to the cat co 3 beach. Evening would be a good time to visit.

When we were there the water was quite dirty. Some plastic and other things in the water. A beach chair cost 100k dong for guests not staying in the hotel. But if you want, you can just lay on the beach for free, I think. If you want to use shower you have to pay. Still it is a nice beach I would say.

It's so overcrowded, loud and dirty... Lan ha/ha long bays are beautiful but don't waste your time for staying in Cat ba for more than a night. The picture I uploaded is from 6:30 am...

As some other commented, beach destroyed by the mankind's greedy. Full of concrete and mixture of coloured buildings... Beach full of plastic and small plastic particles.. expected something more.. stunning but got disappointed instead... Perhaps in used to other type of scenery more.. wild and better taken care. Local government should take care of the trash and upkeep it. If you park the bike there, fee is 10k VND.

A small, sandy beach in a bay. Free entry. If you would like an umbrella and lounger ask the hotel. Water is warm with few small waves perfect for children. Easy to walk in and get wet and swim, not very tidal nor strong currents. Lots of leaves in the water. Parking at the entrance to the beach. A lovely walk along some steps and concrete path if you would like to walk to the next beach.

This is free beach and really beautiful. We spent afternoon swimming, you can even rent some inflatables or locker, loungers from nearby flamingo resort.

Super cool experience! The scenic views were amazing and super beautiful. It’s crazy to see how vast and big this bay is. It really tops the pictures and videos you see. It’s like King Kong was about to pop over the side hahah. But overall it was super peaceful the water was cold when we went but not terrible if you want a refreshing dip. It was very clean and taken care of where we went. I definitely recommend checking it out if you want to.

After boarding; a safety briefing; and lunch, we head off to Lan Ha Bay (at the south of the Halong Bay maritime national park area), where we visit the “Dark and Bright Cave” via local bamboo boat. Must admit though … as caves go, I have seen better.

Best experience ever in Vietnam! Our tour guide, Tony, was incredibly kind. The food was absolutely delicious, and we made so many new friends from Europe. After dinner, we had a fun karaoke party, tried squid fishing, and even learned how to make spring rolls. The highlight of the trip was definitely kayaking—the area was peaceful and less crowded. The biking adventure the next day on Cat Ba Island was equally amazing. The scenery was breathtaking. 100000/5 stars! Thanks to Sunlight Cruise

Why is nobody taking care of the so promoted unesco world heritage nature wonder??? Please do something about it. Would NEVER swim in it. Kayaking was nice but I worried to get sick just by touching the waters. Shame

The scenery feels like something out of a dream. I opted for a day cruise, which allowed us to explore the caves, enjoy kayaking, and relax while taking in the serene surroundings. Sung Sot Cave was an incredible highlight with its impressive stalactites and stalagmites. The boat ride was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and accommodating, making the entire experience even more enjoyable. If you have more time, I highly recommend the overnight cruises, which I plan to do next time. One small downside was the number of tourists in certain areas, but it didn’t take away from the overall beauty and tranquility of the place. The local food served on the boat was fresh and flavorful, adding an authentic Vietnamese touch to the trip. If you’re visiting Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is a destination you simply cannot miss. Must see in Vietnam- despite it is so turisted. Were on a luxury cruise which was a great experience in it self - but I assume all boats give the same tours and the nature is stunning.

Very nice place. A must see when you come to Vietnam. I recommend the minimum 2 nights stay as most of the people only take one night and don’t get to see the most beautiful places. In the first day you only get to see the most crowded places. In the next day we went to a remote location and enjoyed some nice views and activities.

Superb scenery. Tourist attractions packed but was to be expected. Stay a night and take in the amazing surroundings first thing in the morning. Choose your cruise carefully!
