Valle de los Ingenios, also known as the Valley of Sugar Mills, is a historical site located approximately 15 km from Trinidad. It consists of three interconnected valleys - San Luis, Santa Rosa, and Meyer - which were once the center of sugar production from the 17th to the 19th century. Visitors can explore El Mirador, a panoramic point offering breathtaking views of the valley, Trinidad, and the Caribbean Sea.
Impressive 7 level cave, presumably the 2nd biggest in Central America. The park provides well maintained safety helmets and head torches, as well a guided 3-4 hours hike to the cave and exploration of it inside levels. Beautiful panoramic view of the 'Valley of the Wise'.

The three valleys, San Luis, Santa Rosa and Meyer in the XVII. from the end of the XIX century until the end of the century it was the center of sugar production. At the height of Cuban industry there were over fifty sugar cane mills in the three valleys, over 30,000 slaves worked in the over fifty mills and the surrounding sugar cane plantations As the native Cubans virtually died out due to exposure to diseases brought by European settlers and mistreatment as slaves Due to the "attrition" caused by this, Spanish plantation owners decided to import Africans to work as slaves in the sugar cane fields and mills. Sights & Landmarks
Torre de Manaca Iznaga, also known as the Tower Iznaga, is a significant part of the Valley of the Sugar Mills in Cuba. It offers a captivating view over the valley and provides an interesting history lesson about the sugar industry and the mistreatment of slaves by landowners. Climbing to the top is not too difficult, but it may not be suitable for those afraid of heights.
Interesting history and great view over the valley. Climbing the tower is not too difficult, and it seems stable enough, but if you are afraid of heights, it's not for you! There is a lady that asks you to pay 70 CUP entrance fee to climb the tower. She might or might not be legit, but it's about 40 cents, so who cares.

I stumbled upon a small stand selling sugar cane juice. It was a hot day, and the vibrant green color of the juice caught my eye. Curiosity piqued, I decided to give it a try. As I approached the stand, I noticed a friendly elderly man tending to the sugarcane machine. He had a warm smile that instantly put me at ease. The stand was simple yet inviting, adorned with neatly displayed bottles filled with the freshly pressed juice. Without hesitation, I ordered a glass of the sugar cane juice. The man skillfully cut a long stalk of sugar cane and fed it through the machine. Within seconds, the juice began to flow into a glass, showcasing its natural sweetness. As I took my first sip, a burst of refreshing flavor flooded my mouth. The juice was incredibly thirst-quenching, with a delicate, sugary taste that was not overpowering. It was the perfect balance of sweetness and freshness, leaving me craving more. Intrigued by the unique flavor, I struck up a conversation with the man. He shared his passion for sugar cane juice, explaining how it is popular in many tropical countries as a natural and healthy alternative to sodas and other sugary drinks. He went on to explain that the juice is not only delicious but also packed with nutrients. It is known to be a great source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making it an excellent choice for a healthy lifestyle. It was a reminder that sometimes the most extraordinary experiences can be found in the simplest of places.

Interesting history lesson here. How slaves were miss-treated by the land owners who forced them to work and to live in captivity. The search tower is well worth the climb to the top too.
Timbovilla 7 — Google review
Interesting. But you are not allowed to get in as of right now. The tower is closed because the stairs are damaged. I asked a few of the locals and they all said the same thing.
Rob W — Google review
Interesting historic location in a beautiful countryside. It doesn't look too touristy on the first glance, but the place is full of pesky vendors and tourist traps, much more than in Trinidad itself. My sister had to pay 10 EUR for a photo with a bird she didn't even ask for.

Plaza Mayor is the heart of Trinidad, surrounded by historic buildings and landmarks. The square is adorned with a marble sculpture and benches, making it a perfect spot to take in the city's charm. Nearby attractions include La Parroquial Mayor church, Palacio Brunet housing Museo Romantico, Sanchez Iznaga mansion hosting Museo de Arquitectura, and Palacio Ortiz gallery.
Plaza Mayor in Trinidad, Cuba, is a beautifully preserved colonial square that serves as the focal point of this historic city. Surrounded by grand colonial buildings, cobblestone streets, and lush gardens, it reflects the rich cultural and architectural heritage of Trinidad. The square is framed by significant landmarks, including the Church of the Holy Trinity and the Palacio Brunet, which houses the Romantic Museum. This central plaza is not just a historical site but also a lively gathering place where locals and tourists mingle. The charm of the Plaza Mayor lies in its ability to transport visitors back in time, offering a glimpse into the opulence of Trinidad's past while being a vibrant part of its present. With its picturesque surroundings and vibrant atmosphere, Plaza Mayor is a must-visit destination that captures the essence of Trinidad.
Nick M — Google review
During our stay in Trinidad this was by far one of our most favourite places. Surrounding the square there are a number of historical sites including a couple of churches. Leading up to the square are the numerous cobblestone streets and of course it would not be Cuba with some old and antique cars everywhere. The Plaza Mayor is one of the most popular places because it is one of the few were Wi-Fi connection and Internet is possible. The crowds that gather are lovely to watch and just sitting and enjoying the ambience is probably all you need to do.

A beautiful small town painted with vibrant colors that bring the clear of the historic ambience. Stonewalls paved with stone and the carriage return to rich Cuban history. The Cuban music rhythms are spreading everywhere like the Cuban smile and courtesy.

The Museo de Historia Municipal is a regional history museum housed in a unique neoclassical building with striking murals and a charming central courtyard. Nearby, the Museo Municipal de Trinidad occupies a colonial residence from the 1820s, showcasing the opulent lifestyle of the Cantera family with its Louis 15th-style furniture and imported goods.
Amazing view from the tower, cozy small castle and bad museum for high price. Compared to other museums we had been in Matanzas, Cardenas and Santa Clara this is more kind of tourist trap, the entry fee was like 10 times higher than in the other visited museum. The museum was poor, kind of missing much of context of the gathered things and mostly no signs in English or poor translations. Very high price and not well prepared museum. What is worth the money is the tower with amazing view of the city and mountains. Worth to visit for this reason or if you dont have any better things to do.
Vilda O — Google review
Nice building to walk around in. The artifacts are nice, but descriptions are only in spanish. This governmental museum has some shops in the tower of their building selling nice paintings od Cuban artists depicting streetwise for reasonable prices. The view from the top of the tower over the city us impressive. Only this is already worth the entrance fee.
Ewald H — Google review
Good place to go especially in the rainy day
Peri L — Google review
Museum itself is quite okay - nothing breathtaking though. A highlight of the visit is the view from the tower - a must-see point in Trinidad tour. You will get to see above the roofs of houses - splendid view!
Patryk C — Google review
My husband and I strolled into here two weeks ago behind a group so ended up avoiding the cover. Really glad we did as it’s 5CUC to take photos which is crazy. The interior is just lovely: a bit dilapidated like all of Trinidad but also delicate 19th century colors and decor all about. There are some haphazard exhibits- some in English- on Trinidad’s overall history but much is not translated and there is no information on the furniture and such. The views from the tower are stunning, SO much better than the views from La Popa. Note of warning, you’re still expected to pay for the bathroom which is again insane if you’ve already paid to enter the museum!!
Jennifer S — Google review
Nice museum, the entrance was 120 pesos. The highlight was the view on the city of Trinidad and its surroundings rom the tower (included in entrance)
Kamila M — Google review
Gives a great impression of the wealth of the sugar barons. Climb up to the roof to get a good view of Trinidad surrounded by the mountains.

We went there mainly for the views from the bell tower - well worth the price! There's also a display about the history of the revolution but everything is written in Spanish only...

El Cubano Natural Park

El Cubano Natural Park, located just a short drive north of Trinidad, offers a delightful half-day trip for nature enthusiasts. Visitors can embark on a 30-minute walk from the restaurant/carpark to reach a refreshing waterfall and large swimming hole. The park also features a cave and opportunities for hiking amidst stunning natural surroundings. For those seeking adventure, an 8km hike from the city of Trinidad provides an enriching journey through Cuban landscapes.
10€ entrance but totally worth it. Nice hiking with the surroundings of the nature and beautiful waterfall in the end of the path. The journey gets even more interesting if you do hike leaving from the city of Trinidad, it’s around 8km (one way) and before was exactly what Cuban people (and pedestrians) used to do. A must!

€10 entry fee per person, a 30 minute walk to the waterfall. The walk is scenic but we spotted a snake so be careful. The waterfall was very nice, I can’t swim but wore a life jacket which was worth it. Would recommend
Khawajai — Google review
Beautiful national park at the heart of Cuba. Perfect for any nature lover, if you are lucky you can even spot the national bird. Be prepared for a hike and watch out for slippery stones. At the end of the walk you can treat yourself to a swim under the waterfall.
Chan S — Google review
If you can only choose one thing to do when visiting Trinidad this is it! Best swimming hole where you can swim through a waterfall and explore the caves behind it and next to it. You can clif dive or jump. You can do some bouldering on each side of the gorge. Don't believe the other reviews complaining about the 10CUC entry fee being too much, not at all! Best 10CUC you will ever spend! If you are the type of person who does nothing when exploring then just stay on Ancon beach and do your thing. This place is heaven for people who appreciate swimming, hiking and nature. You can be old and still get in the water and totally have the time of your life. This place will become one of your favourite life memories. Enjoy. (Some of the reviews about horseback riding are showing the Pilon waterfalls and not Javira. Javira is way better!)
Madame A — Google review
Had a great time hiking in the park. Everybody is friendly and the swim near the waterfall was absolutely perfect!
Luca V — Google review
A little expensive for what it is at 10cuc per person. There is a short 30 minute walk to tte waterfall from the restaurant/carpark. A man was standing at the waterfall to collect our tickets bought on entry. The waterfall is refreshing and very swimmable. You can swim around it to get behind the waterfall for an interesting experience.

The Leaping Caburní National Reserve is a protected area in Cuba that features an impressive rocky waterfall with natural pools for swimming. Accessible via a challenging hike through the jungle, visitors can enjoy refreshing dips in the cool waters of the pool. The hike offers stunning views and involves some vertical descent, but it is worth it as you may even spot the Tocororo bird, which is Cuba's national symbol.
I really enjoyed this excursion. We got there with a colourful old Russian Army truck and then undertook an initially easy hike. Later, the hike became rather engaging descending vertically several hundred of meters down to the little pool and water fall (bring you swim wear for a very cool and needed refreshment in the natural pool). We even spotted the Tocororo bird which is the national symbol of Cuba.
Travelling C — Google review
It is definitely not worth the walk. It takes one hoy and a half to get there. A hard path to walk and not really great views to enjoy while walking. Once you get there it's a nice spot if you want to take a swim. But nothing stunning.
Ana A — Google review
Nice hike and with the chance to take a swim in a pond at the end, near the waterfall. Although the water was freezing even in summer.

I stayed in Trinidad in 2015 for a few days. One day I took a tour to Caburni waterfall which was great. We walked around 1 hour in the forest to reach and swim in that cold water :) (@yolacikmazamani)

Love that place. Hiking lovers will enjoy it! The water is very cold but you need to swim in that natural pool it’s just amazing 🤗🏊!
Mailin C — Google review
LOVED IT - 10 CUC entry (a bit expensive as it doesn't include any other trails, it would be nice if you could pay a fixed price for the national park itself). The hike is intense (especially the way back, uphill). But if you enjoy hiking, this place is stunning. Swimming in the natural pool under the cascade was the highlight of my trip to Cuba

The park boasts an array of hiking trails that lead to breathtaking waterfalls and natural pools, offering hikers the chance to take refreshing dips along the way. Visitors can explore the Parque Nacional Alejandro de Humboldt, where they can encounter diverse wildlife and venture into intriguing caves while enjoying stunning panoramic views.
Visited through Gaviota tours and our guide Oswaldó was amazing. The tour was so incredible and packed with things to do (lookout point over the mountains/sea, coffee shop, farmers market, hike, swimming, restaurant, driving in a Russian truck through the mountains). It was an unforgettable experience and Oswaldó was so kind and funny, he taught us so much and made it a great experience. The views were breathtaking, the coffee and caramels were so delicious, and the restaurant at the end of the tour was one of a kind with a farm like atmosphere and dogs/cats roaming the property overlooking a waterfall. This is a must do if you’re anywhere near Topes de Collantes!!
Ehva H — Google review
Wow! A pretty tough 2,5 hour hike (2-way), especially the way back, but an unforgettable experience! The surroundings during the hike are beautiful and the final destination, the waterfall, is breathtaking! Lovely to swim in the fresh water! Don’t go on flip flops…
Michel J — Google review
It is many experiences like these which gave me a bad human experience in Cuba, leaving a bitter aftertaste in me about the country. I arrived at the national park and tried to pay for entrance with a non-USA visa credit card. Unfortunately the card didn't work and to my surprise, they didn't accept cash as well. The lady at the entrance was dismissive, unhelpful and apathetic to my situation, telling me that there was nothing she could do to help me. I waited half an hour before my own hired motor driver reluctantly took out his local card to help me. Sanctions and economic hardships aside, it is bureaucratic red tapes and ineffective processes like these, and the poor unfriendly attitudes of many Cuban government employees that have made the country the way it is today.
T N — Google review
Beautiful! Beautiful! I hiked, fell in love with the waterfall, the natural pools, the creeks and the birds. The path was a bit strenuous at times, but it was worth it and pushed me out of my comfort zone. It was worth every step, and every moment. Thank you for preserving this wonderful park.
Sara L — Google review
We didn't see much of the Park but our tour bus crossed the South end of it in late March 2015 at a time when there were many thousands of crabs coming back into the park from the beach after laying their eggs. The driver had to slow down about 1 mph as we crunched over the crabs. Unbelievable! Please see the picture I have posted.
Walt B — Google review
The is not the luxuriant tropical park you might be looking for but Cuba has not much wild nature to offer, so this is either this or nothing.
Mat Z — Google review
Beautiful, well worth the trek to the waterfalls, just be aware that amenities aren't readily available so be prepared to pop behind a bush for the loo and bring your own water. There are stands along the roads and lovely coffee at the plantation but once you're in the park proper you're in your own
Jacqueline R — Google review
Amazing place. We went with a local driver up to the hill to see the city and then continued. The waterfalls were about an hour walk from the stop. The entrance is 10CUCs (ask for a receipt). Great trip for one day. The waterfalls are beautiful.

Standing at around 180 meters high with approximately 200 steps leading to its summit, this site provides unparalleled panoramic views of the city.

It's not really a beautiful monument as you will see but it has an amazing view and an amazing history moment that happened there. You need to search for information before going there because there is not explanation there. You need to go up 5 minute of stairs which is not so easy to everyone. Also, it has a lot of mosquitos!

It is difficult to climb the hill, but it is true that it offers a unique view of the city, especially beautiful at sunset. Keep in mind that it is a small place, luckily not many people usually go, except on some days such as weekends. The Statue of Che Guevara in Santa Clara is a small life-sized sculpture depicting the iconic revolutionary holding a child. The statue is filled with hidden symbols representing Che's life, including a boy riding a goat on his shoulder. Nearby, visitors can explore the mausoleum and museum dedicated to Che's life and deeds. The museum features photos and explanations of his accomplishments, while the mausoleum prohibits bags, cell phones, and photography.

The Armored Train Park in Santa Clara, Cuba is a significant historical site that commemorates the Battle of Santa Clara during the Cuban Revolution. It features replicas of train cars and sculptures honoring the iconic derailment of an armored train by Che Guevara's forces. The park offers visitors a profound insight into Cuba's revolutionary past and the resilience of its people.
A very interesting historical site dating back to the revolution. This is what I researched. On December 29, 1958, during the Battle of Santa Clara, an armored train sent by the Batista regime was captured by Ernesto “Che” Guevara and his guerrilla fighters. The train carried 373 armed soldiers, ammunition, and provisions for two months. After fierce combat, the revolutionaries derailed the train, captured its weapons and ammunition, and forced the officers to surrender. The memorial is located on Avenida Liberación in the Bengochea ward, near the Santa Clara station. It is certainly worth leaving time to explore.

The site of the celebrated ambush and victory by the Revolutionary forces (led by Che' Guevara) over Batista's forces. Hugely interesting if you have knowledge of Cuba's history. I felt emotional being there....recommended.
Pete S — Google review
This park is really easy to get to - just walk east down the high street, and keep going on along the more normal looking street, and across the bridge - it is hard to miss, and has a tourist shop opposite. It is also worth making a trip to the statue of Che that is further along the same road (another 5 minute walk)
Jacob L — Google review
This place is like an open museum. You can enter the old wagons and see objects used during the revolution. However, there aren't many things to see here.
Djanilson M — Google review
Historical place. This important revolution action happen there. A convoy of munitions and arms was send to Batista. This secret convoy was known by Che Guevara and compagnero. Just before getting in the town, convoy was attact, but with no effect, was well protected. Using a Bulldozer, the rebel finally derail the train at this place. Next day, Batista flew Cuba.
Lunix L — Google review
Park celebrating Che overcoming overwhelming odds to stop a government armoured train with a bulldozer and a handful of men. Unfortunately the armoured carriages were locked when we visited because of a holiday.
Timbovilla 7 — Google review
Interesting museum. Several train wagons positined after the crash. In every wagon information of the attack and aditional information of Che Guevara. Also some armours used then are to be seen. At the other side of the road is a souvenir shop. The hole place is covered with a little nationalistic sauce. But for a visit of one hour, it's certainly worth it.
Bert C — Google review
This is an important historical site but it really should not have an admission charge. It can be experienced in 5 minutes. I was glad to see it but annoyed to have to pay.

El Mejunje is a popular spot in Santa Clara, known for its diverse and vibrant atmosphere. The venue offers a mix of traditional Cuban music, dancing, theater, poetry readings, and drag shows throughout the week. It's located in a bohemian-style courtyard within the ruins of a former hotel and serves as an important LGBT center in the city. The space also features art pieces from local political Cuban artists and hosts various events.
Preferate place in Santa Clara, every day have different show. There is 2 bars, one on bottom floor with plastic cup, second on second floor and more private. This club is melting pot of students, worker and LGBT, all having fun. Thanks to Piry, you can get free drink at 3. Say your my friend! Second floor is best for special drink, talking and music listening. First floor is dance floor, or show floor if any.( No show on Monday). Shows can be viewed from both floor.
Lunix L — Google review
This is not the left-scene safe space it pretends to be. This is a money-making machine. After entering, they practically pushed me to the bar where they handed me a menu in dollars with high prices. Very agressive and no consent awareness at all. We stayed a moment and left. This is not a social project - it is the embodiment of the dark side of capitalism.
Fernando R — Google review
Place with hippie vibe. Unfortunately our group had a big disappointment as we were overcharged for being tourists. While we were paying about 200 pesos for a can of beer, we were charged at 500 pesos at the first bar on the left after the entrance of the establishment. The responsible boy didn't even want to know about talking even though he knew he was screwing us. I highly recommend the bar at the top of the building.
Talita P — Google review
I got very sick from drinks made by alcohol that came from a plastic bottle and ice grabbed with the hands from the guy on the bar at the left as you come in. Prices are like in Spain but in Cuba, somebody explain that please. Filthy toilets with no running water - so the profit doesn’t go to maintenance that’s for sure.
Alfonso V — Google review
Nice place to have a couple of drinks while listening to live music. Prices are a bit more expensive than in other bars in town though.
Damián G — Google review
Avoid this place. The guys who take care of this place don't know how to run what is meant to be an inclusive venue for arts and music events. As soon as they spot you're a tourist they'll kinda force you to take a drink charging lot more than they'd charge any Cubans. It is inclusive for Cubans, not for foreigners. You'll always be a walking wallet.
Valerio C — Google review
Was a great experience visiting here. I was there for an b event, being it was in Cuba the event started late but was still a great deal of fun.
Elliott R — Google review
Excellent place to experience the night life of the city. During the day we could hear some music and see people dancing and having a good time. And the same day during the night the place turned into a club with loud music. It was gay night and everyone was having a good time. The entrance was 5 CUC per person and beer was 2 CUC, but if you go to the bar at the back of the place the beer is cheaper.

Che Guevara Mausoleum

Sights & Landmarks
The Che Guevara Mausoleum in Santa Clara, Cuba is a significant site that houses the remains of the renowned revolutionary. Originally intended as a monument to honor Che Guevara, it now serves as his final resting place and a museum dedicated to his life and achievements. The mausoleum features an imposing statue of Che Guevara and sculptures depicting his life, making it one of the most important museums in Cuba.
I am Brazilian, I spent thirty days in Cuba, I visited Santa Clara and the mausoleum of Commander Che Guevara, for me it was a unique experience, I was in front of his mortal remains, I carry his image tattooed on my body, I cried a lot, he is a great inspiration for all the revolutionaries of the world.
Luiz M — Google review
Very nice place to visit in Santa Clara Cuba. There is a mausoleum and museum of Che.
Hamidreza K — Google review
After a week in Cuba the seemingly universal cult of personality around Che Guevara (much more so than Fidel Castro who we were told is generally less fondly regarded than Guevara ) and the Cuban Revolution was wearing a bit thin. Yes, both men are very important figures in Cuba's history and yes, the revolution they led ultimately overthrew the brutal Bastida dictatorship, but what did they really achieve for normal Cubans? The roads are almost unusable because of huge potholes, people use the horse (mule?) and cart as their main mode of transport, public transport barely exists, poverty and unemployment are rife and even their renowned medical workers may be excellent but they have no machines or medication with which to treat patients and yet Che Guevara in particular is lauded as a national hero despite being Argentinian. His mausoleum area is quite impressive all the same. There is a small museum to the right full of random items - a pistol Che once fired, a pai of binoculars Che once used to spot the enemy n the jungle etc. - but quite interesting, especially the work that went into creating it with everything that could be associated with Che deemed worthy of display. To the left is the mausoleum itself which is made up of several 'drawers' in the wall, containing the ashes of each named revolutionary The enormous statues standing guard over the entire complex are also impressive in size, but once seen, there's not really anything else to see or do at the site which overall isn't wheelchair friendly - no adaptation even leading up to the entrance where a flight of concrete stairs awaits...
Mark J — Google review
Emotional place to visit and is a must if you are in Cuba. You are not allowed to take pictures inside of the mausoleum or museum but you will definitely take some great memories from this place with you. Highly recommend to visit if you have the chance.
Claudia N — Google review
Worth visiting place but no photos allowed inside of the museum. We saw so many students were there for their revolutionary education. The statue of Che was a good work. Huge open space in front of the statue for you to take photos.
Eagleridge H — Google review
Along with seeing the train museum this monument to Ernesto “Che” Guevara is also an historical site. It is situated in Plaza Che Guevara (Che Guevara Square) in Santa Clara. As every Cuban knows Che Guevara was an Argentinean medical student who became a leading figure of the Cuban Revolution to overthrow the right-wing dictator, Fulgencio Batista. The monument complex includes several monuments to Che, including an 82-foot statue of the man himself and his mausoleum.
Ross D — Google review
Worth a visit if you are in Santa Cruz.
Francisco N — Google review
My sole purpose of going to Santa Clara was to visit Che Guevera museum and I am glad I made all the efforts to be there. We stayed a night in Santa Clara, it was a great experience to see the small worn out city along with this well-kept Museum. It’s not a huge museum but it’s absolutely a good history lesson to understand this famous and somewhat controversial personality. The Museum hosts items used by Che and 29 of his fellow revolutionaries. You can feel their struggle for revolution through the items and pictures. It’s free of charge however mobile phones and cameras are not allowed to take inside. You will have to deposit those before you enter. At the time we visited, it wasn’t as crowded as mentioned by some of the reviews I read. There is a small café and a small souvenir shop next to it too. If you are planning your trip to Cuba and crossing by Santa Clara, I would highly recommend a detour and visit this place (of course only if you are interested in Cuban revolution and Che)

Nestled within the Topes de Collantes Natural Park in central Cuba, Cascate El Nicho is a breathtaking natural attraction. The multi-tiered falls cascade into vibrant jade-green jungle pools, creating an idyllic setting for a refreshing swim. Accessible from Trinidad or Cienfuegos, the journey to this picturesque spot is an adventure in itself, with stunning scenery along the way.
Had the best afternoon at El Nicho! My friends and I had the waterfall to ourselves and swam and relaxed and wandered around. This is an absolutely must if planning a trip to Cuba! We stayed in Cienfuegos and hired a taxi for the day that took us here. Paired with a morning trip to Trinidad.

The largest waterfall in cuba we were told. The water is sourced from mountain spring. The natural surroundings are beautifull and relaxing. Many people go there to take a swim to cool off. Definitely worth visiting. The road to the fall is unfortunately not in a good shape.

Best activity I went on in Cuba!!! Absolutely stunning waterfalls that you can swim in, there's even a jungle tour to a cave. We got a taxi from Cienfuegos and got there around 10:30 (come as early as possible because it got busy later on).
Alice R — Google review
Beautiful landscape and natural pools for a refreshing swim! Go early in the morning and you will have it all for yourself. Stunning views.
Ana C — Google review
We went from cienfuegos to El Nicho. Trip was suppose to cost 15 euro pp we ended up paying 20 euro pp for the trip and 10 euro pp entrance fee. We were travelling with 6 in one car. Make sure to watch out for 'all included trips'. I really cant grasp the idea that a government organisation would ask for euro instead of CUP. El Nicho itself is beautiful, small and bit crowded (we went in low season). The place itself is not big, 500m walk from the parking. Water is very refreshing cold. Image shows all entry prices for El Nicho and wide surroundings.
Mauwrijn B — Google review
Beautiful setting and lovely water for swimming. Short walk through some easy terrain to get to the pools - good fun to go off the trails and explore the surrounding jungle. Quite expensive access.

The Botanischer Garten Cienfuegos, located just outside the city, is home to over 2000 species of tropical plants and has historical ties to Harvard University dating back to the 1920s. The garden offers a natural and unmanicured setting with exotic flora and well-maintained paths for visitors to explore.
Nice area with interesting trees, shrubs, flowers and birds. We had a guide who was very informative. There is a nice bar at the far end from the entrance serving excellent cocktails including a very good scooped out coconut one.
Timbovilla 7 — Google review
This is a wonderful site. Not the kind of manicured Botanical Garden that you might expect but more of a natural part that has many exotic plants and trees. Other reviewers said the path was hard to find. This was not our experience. The paths seemed well maintained. We really enjoyed walking around and looking at the amazing plants and birds. What would have made this a 5 star attraction would have been the possibility of a guided tour or at lease a map with some information one the different types of plants and trees. Some signs in from of some of the plants would also be great.
Mike W — Google review
Great place to spend a couple hours. Trees from around the world as well as native species. You might also catch a glimpse of the Cuban national bird - tocororo.
Beth P — Google review
We went here after the flamingo watching. It is on the way back to Cienfuegos. Not very big garden (we finished in 2 hours) and you can get ticket in the front entrance. There is a small cafe/restaurant in the garden so you may grab a coffee etc there. Don't expect something extraordinary, it's purely a nice green area with many nice trees and flowers. Good to enjoy the garden and nature during your vacation.
Fibbe T — Google review
We had a magnificent guide. He spoke excellent English. His knowledge was fascinating. The arboretum is enormous, so the guide really helped
Helen G — Google review
I have visited many botanical gardens, but this one is not really worth a visit. It is basically an area of bush/jungle with a fence around it, and a ticket office at the entrance. We paid 520 CUP per person, which I find expensive. Euros or US$ are not accepted, but fortunately our taxi driver changed money for us. They wanted to see our passports, but copies or screenshots are also OK. There were many mosquitos, so bring some insect repellent. The garden is quite far for the centre of Cienfuegos, it is approx. 20 minutes by taxi.

Playa Rancho Luna is a stunning beach with excellent diving opportunities, including a small cave to explore. The shallow bay is teeming with marine life due to the sea grass covering the area. Visitors can enjoy delicious food at the beach restaurant and appreciate the availability of umbrellas for sun protection. It's a beautiful spot to savor great cocktails and make lasting memories during a visit to Cuba.
Very quiet and tranquil beach, with chairs and sun parasol. Joaquin is here, very friendly and fresh seafoood and good cocktails !

Dolphins are amazing BUT, as a tourist they will ripp you of for the entrance fee by double! Also on entrance they say you can take pictures with your phone, but when you get down they say NO..after that if you want any memory from that day, you need to buy pictures for 35 euros/dollars, what is crazy..
Matija-Lidija M — Google review
Delfinario works from 8:30-15:00 and they have 2 shows, one at 10:00 and another at 14:00. Swimming with delfins is possible, but only after the show. Prices are different if you are local and if you are a tourist. And it's a very big difference, they are ripping off tourists (more than x2 more expensive than for locals). - The show is 10 euros/dollars - The show with swimming with delfins after is 50 euros/dollars For swimming they don't allow you to take pictures, they do it with their camera and charge 10 euros/dollars per picture or 35 for all pictures. The photographer does not try to do a good job, they just do a lot of photos and they are not good, so that you would just pay for all and not search for at least one good picture.
Zoran S — Google review
This was my fourth visit to this delfinarium in several years, and the last one. New staff arrived, the bad ones. Try to cheat on exchange rate, try to cheat on ticket prices, try to do whatever it takes to get the money... common thieves. Very bad expirience, so next time, with my next group, I will find one of the other delfinariums. Please stay away if You do not want to get robbed, whatever they say or however they try to justify their actions. Very very bad...

It was a ripp off. The price is 6000 CUP (25€) per person and you can read it everywhere but when you come there they take you 50€ per person, you can't pay in CUP or by credit card, plus you have to buy their photos for 35€ extra eventhough they told us at the entrance that we can take our camera and phone to take a photos and videos.

The park pays homage to José Martí, an influential figure in Cuban history known for his role in the country's liberation and independence movement. The area also includes a bustling pedestrian shopping area that leads into the main city park, forming the historic center of Cienfuegos.

A big concrete park just down the road from our hotel - Meliá San Carlos - and opposite the main theatre, the Parque José Martí is a nice place to relax and go for a stroll. Old men playing chess in the shade and tourists like us taking photos and listening to our respective guides talking about José Martí - a Spanish guy who is a bit of a national hero after devoting much of his life to the cause of Cuban independence. This park, a big monument in Plaza de le Revolución and the country's main international airport, to name but a few things, are all named after him and I'm sure there are many other sites around the country named in his honour too.

José Martí Park in Cienfuegos, Cuba, stands as a historic and vibrant heart of the city, embodying its rich cultural heritage. Named after the revered Cuban national hero, the park is surrounded by significant landmarks that highlight the city's neoclassical charm. The beautiful Cienfuegos Cathedral and the impressive Terry Theatre frame the park, each telling a story of the city's past and its artistic legacy. In the center of the park, a statue of José Martí serves as a constant reminder of his enduring influence on Cuban history. The unique Arc de Triomphe, the only one of its kind in Cuba, adds a distinctive touch to this lively square. Regular cultural and social events transform the park into a bustling hub, attracting both locals and visitors to experience the vibrant spirit of Cienfuegos.

Eddy T — Google review
Today, August 10, 2025, I visited the TTT cafe alone, just to the right, as we see the Tomas Terry Theater in Cienfuegos. As soon as I entered the theater, theater employees urged me to go to the TTT cafe if I wanted to drink something, almost urgently. Since I wanted to drink a coffee and have a bite to eat, I went. I ended up ordering two sandwiches and, since it was very hot, three small cans of local beer. The sandwiches were tiny, with ham and poor quality bread. I ate them anyway, since I was hungry. When I asked for the bill, the cafe manager asked me for 9000 Cuban pesos, an exorbitant amount for what I ordered and received! The previous evening I had dinner at the excellent Bahia restaurant, also in Cienfuegos, and I paid only 4350 Cuban pesos. I complained to the TTT cafe about the unjustifiably high price, emphasizing to the person in charge that I am not an idiot and that I know very well what is happening to me. I have been traveling all over the world for years and have a lot of experience in traveling. I asked him for a discount and finally it came down to 7000 pesos, also a very high price for the cheap things I ordered! I am writing my comment here simply to protect other travelers from a similar fate to mine. Avoid TTT cafe, they are scammers! Do not listen to others' urgings and exhortations to visit specific cafes, restaurants or bars! Ask to see the menu first, before ordering! If they do not have a menu, leave!

The theater is restored to its former glory, really beautiful. Participated at a very socialistic performance, nicely done. It was interesting to see the hole theater public standing in attention when the first two rows were filled up with delayed local politicians and their families. Not even a king gets such attention as a local politician. The theater was filled with students and military personal, the ovations were deafening.

Caleta Buena, snorkeling

Caleta Buena is a protected cove perfect for snorkeling, especially with kids. The area also features a museum dedicated to the Bay of Pigs invasion and offers an all-inclusive concept with easy access to great snorkeling spots. Visitors can enjoy swimming in natural sea pools and renting masks for leisurely swims. While some mention that the coral reef is not well-maintained, others praise the abundance of fish and nice coral formations.
Great all-inclusive concept here at this spot. There are plenty of great spots along the entire Bay Of Pigs coastline where you can snorkel or dive, but most require some effort to reach. This place makes it easily accessible. Snorkeling is good here, lots of fish and nice coral. Swim out to the opposite side for the best parts. Buffet lunch is ok and the beers are chilled. What more do you want? Cycling from Playa Giron takes about 30 minutes, but be careful not to get a puncture as some parts of the road are quite bad.
Theo T — Google review
Great place to hang out and swim for the day.. you can pick out a secluded spot for peace and quiet too. The food and booze are plentiful ... Not the best, but you can drink all day ! We cycled there from Playa Giron.
Heather S — Google review
It's a jaw-dropping place!!! I visited during late September. I terribly got burn but wether was wonderful to chill with my wife. $15 will satisfy you with compact lunch and free drinks from 10am until 4pm.
DA K — Google review
We loved this place, incredible still blue water for snorkelling, buffet lunch wasn't great but drinks were good and overall great value for money.

Awesome place even though the road to get there is a bit damaged
Andi K — Google review
Nice beach, you can spend the whole day without going anywhere. You can rent a mask and swim a little. Snorkeling is not very good as the coral reef is poor and old. They do not want to restore it. The beach works on the system all inclusive. The cost of visiting 15 convertible pesos. There is parking, but it is not free! Place for a single visit. Around you can find a lot of interesting places.

Did an awesome diving lesson... 35 CUC... Thanks for all
Marco T — Google review
I went there but not with a guided trip. I had the worst experience in the entire Cuba. They tried to get money to watch our bicycles when our Airbnb host told us that we shouldn't pay anything if we arrive by bicycles. Then, the kitchen was already closed (we arrived 2/3 hours before closing time) and they asked us to pay the full price for the whole day when it includes food. The worst thing of this entire experience was their behavior. They were very rude, entitled and, most of all, they were extremely unpleasant because they were cursing us in Spanish. And I know Spanish

Museo Girón is a small museum commemorating the 1961 defeat of the "Bay of Pigs invasion" force. It consists of two large rooms and an outdoor exhibition. The indoor exhibition displays guns, mortars, personal items of fallen soldiers and civilians, along with explanations and maps detailing the operation. The museum offers insight into Cuban perspectives on the invasion. Visitors can also enjoy WIFI access at the site.
Visited mid hurricane season so we were the only ones in the museum. Exhibition is in Spanish but we both got folders with the same pictures as shown and with every text translated to English, so we could understand everything. Good piece of history.
Kinga — Google review
Small museum, but a good visit to see the history behind the invasion.
Drift W — Google review
Museo Girón is a powerful and deeply moving place to visit. The exhibits are small but filled with real stories, photographs, and artifacts that bring the events of the Bay of Pigs to life. Walking through the museum, I could feel the pride and resilience of the Cuban people — it’s not just history, it’s emotion. The staff were knowledgeable and happy to answer questions, giving more context about what happened and how it shaped the country. If you’re interested in Cuba’s past and want to understand its spirit beyond the beaches, this museum is a must-see.
Suzan C — Google review
Small museum but good to see Cubans view of the US invasion to Cuba. If you ask you can also get a book with english translation. You can also use the toilet there.
Vitek G — Google review
Awesome and it has WIFI.... When your done go to the far beach called Playa Los Cocos which is nicer than the hotel one. If you like adventure ask about renting a horse. Ask anyone as they all know the guy who rents horses. They are well cared for, well fed and the 2.5 houres tour cost me 10CUC (I gave him 20 as I had the time of my life).
Madame A — Google review
Interesting museum to get to know a bit better the Cuban history.

Nice and well organised. Good to learn the Cuban view on the invation of the US
Luc B — Google review
Very small museum split into two wings charting the failed CIA-backed invasion here. Unfortunately, everything is in Spanish which makes it difficult to connect with the exhibits. Bring a translator if you're visiting. The intact ex-WW2 vehicles outside the museum were the most interesting things here. You may also have a chance to watch an English subtitled short film about the invasion at the back of the museum, otherwise the whole place takes 30 minutes max to complete.

‘Cave of the Fishes’ Cenote

Nature & Parks
Parks
We visited in the rain mid hurricane season so probably not the best time, but maybe that's why there weren't many people. Beautiful water, a place to jump, dive, sharp rocks and many many crabs! PLEASE don't forget to walk across the road from parking, there is a beautiful spot to enjoy breathtakingly beautiful water, the water in cities is brown and here between cities it's unreal
Kinga — Google review
This is honestly the most beautiful cenote I’ve seen in Cuba. It’s a cool mix of fresh and salt water. You can see freshwater creatures on top and saltwater fish deeper down. The right side goes from around 2 to 3 meters deep to about 23 meters. The left side is even deeper and way more impressive. If you keep going to the far left, that part is absolutely amazing. Most people don’t go that far, but you should definitely try it. Totally worth it!
Farhad N — Google review
A nice place to relax away from civilization. We came across a crab migration, there were hundreds of them. You can rest and then go to the other side of the road to the Caribbean Sea where you can snorkel
Łukasz H — Google review
As a first-time scuba diver, I had a great time at Cueva de los Peces. For 35 USD, you can go snorkling in the Cueva and go scuba-diving with a guide in the sea, on the other side of the road (you can also just do snorkling for 5 USD and they will provide you with a mask). My guide gave a crash-course on basic safety tips and held my arm throughout our dive while showing me giant crabs, eels, fish, corals, etc. I felt safe the whole time.
Eunbyul P — Google review
One of the nice attractions of the area of Playa Giron. Across the road there is a nice beach. Don’t forget to bring bathing suit. The water in the Cenote is amazingly nice to dive and swim.
Revitalbj — Google review
Amazing fresh water stream -- super deep and crystal clear it feels like you're swimming in bottled mineral water. Suprisingly quiet as well as most people hang out at the beach nearby instead (which is awesome for snorkeling). But this spring-fed stream is just so magical with lots of trees around it as well
L B — Google review
First off this used to be a great place. It costs 200 pecos entry but there are no fish. Apparently with the hurricane a few years ago, there are no longer any fish. This is a small cenote and seems somewhat dirty. It gets hoards of bus traffic. We did go snorkeling across the road and that was pretty decent. You have to go about 100m out to the right or left to find some nice coral features.
Jennifer S — Google review
Best time of my life here! Bring your snorkelling gear and do both sides of the street. When in the cenote, go through the rocks into the smaller part and continue to the end (don't worry it is safe). You can swim down there for an extra 10 minutes one way. It is actually prettier too! You feel like you are swimming in a jungle! I had the crocodile as food, it was fine. Heads up: all the choices at this restaurant are 15CUC so no savings here but there is a booth in the parking lot that offers sandwiches and good BURGERS for 3CUC!!! The ocean part is to die for. I saw huge schools of fish after only a few minutes. I personally liked the corals here, lots of colour and variety. Don't believe the Debbie Downers. There are over 20 dive sites within 10 minutes and many shipwrecks put there on purpose for our entertainment. This is snorkelling paradise! If you try a little you can even see monster groupers, come on, where else can do do all of this FOR FREE???????? Yes I did say free.

The Bay of Pigs, also known as Bahia de Cochinos to locals, is a picturesque inlet on Cuba's southern coast. Despite its historical significance due to the failed 1961 U.S. invasion, it has become a popular tourist destination for its beautiful beaches and excellent snorkeling and diving opportunities. Playa Larga and Playa Giron offer relaxing beach experiences while nearby museums and monuments provide insight into the area's history.

World class diving. Multiple wrecks. Very calm 55 feet of water that is crystal clear. And a cliff underwater to the abyss. I have seen hammerhead species there. Eels, lionfish, mantas, lobster, and spectacular corals. I strongly recommend that you purchase the dive photos from the dive master as his camera and photography is spectacular.

Crocks farm where you can see them, eat and take a picture with them 😎 Entrance is 5 USD per person, feeding crock is also 5 USD. Taking picture with small crocodile is 1 USD. Classic souvenir shops and in one store you can buy something from crocodile leather like belt or bracelet. On feeding point you can buy souvenir from crock’s 🦷.

Once a beautiful place, but now a dilapidated one. Missing tourists, crumbling equipment, broken boats and hungry crocodiles. When you start talking to the local workers, it is very sad and frustrating. At the restaurant I was first given an overpriced tourist menu and after a reproachful look I was given a half Cuban menu. Even the entrance fee to the farm is, according to the (offensive) Cuban tradition, more than 15 times higher for tourists than for locals.
Robur888 — Google review
We were lucky that the criadero (nursery) was practically empty when we visited. It as very hot, so avoiding delays caused by crowds was great. Very educational and well looked-after nature park with loads of Cuban crocodiles at every stage of development from hatchlings to enormous mature adults. Everything was explained to us in great detail and I learned something new about the Bay of Pigs invasion: A lot of the invading troops were killed and eaten by these crocodiles in the swamps around where we were standing. Typical outdoor public toilets, but this time the worst so far. No light, extremely humid, all urinalshadbeen smashed off the walls, no running water to either flush or wash one's hands, and still the matronly guardian of the toilet paper was outside with her wicher bowl! Lunch was included and OK, following the usual pattern of you eat what you're given, no choices and you pay for any drinks - not even water is included. After lunch, we were due to go on a boat trip around the swamp etc, to see the crocs, but it was far too hot and there was no cover on the smallish boat so we decided against going out on the water and barbecuing ourselves! All in all a good visit to see the animals.

Very good facilities! I didn’t expect that. You can the Cuban “version” of crocodile, an ancient fish which they try to reserve it before its distinction small crocodile, at a large facility There are shop and restaurants.

Good place to see crocodiles. Gets very crowded in waves as each tour bus arrives. You have to pay to use the washrooms 1 CUCwhich would be ok if it had toilet seats, didn't smell so bad, was actually clean, and provided you with more than 2 sheets of toilet paper. You can pay to feed or hold a croc, 1 CUC.
Jerry M — Google review
We also only paid 5 CUC and got a drink for free. It was nice seeing the crocodiles. Hopefully for a good reason, as they stated, that they raise them because the crocodile babies otherwise die. Not so much to see otherwise.

Excellent fun but bring lots and lots of sun anti mosquito spray and loose change in case you want to fishing rod-feed some crocs.

(Translated by Google) The flora and fauna in Cuba is unique, the largest mangrove forests in the Caribbean, rare orchids and birds, the Cuban crocodile, which only occurs here, and endangered animal species that are particularly researched and protected here. The Zapata swamps are a fantastic nature conservation paradise and therefore cannot be visited by tourists at any time. Tourists are guided along certain paths to permitted places where they can see and eat the widespread so-called American crocodile. This is how we try to strike a balance between animal protection and tourism. Before entering the park, you must take a local guide to your car. Luckily they speak English. In the park, there are mainly flamingos, herons... of course there are crocodiles living there, but they come out after dark. I recommend!
