Zoológico de Piedras in Guantánamo, Cuba is a surreal animal sculpture park located within the lush grounds of a mountain coffee farm. The park features over 300 sculptures carved out of rock by sculptor Angel Íñigo Blanco, showcasing a diverse range of animals including hippos and giant serpents. The park offers visitors a unique and breathtaking experience at an elevation of 1800ft, making it an unmissable destination for art and nature enthusiasts alike.

Zoológico de Piedra (Stone Zoo) in Cuba. The Stone Zoo is an animal sculpture park located amid thick foliage on the grounds of a mountain coffee farm, approximately 20km northeast of Guantánamo, Cuba. The sculptures were carved by Ángel Iñigo Blanco, starting in the late 1970s, literally out of the existing rock on site. The zoo features over 300 animal sculptures, ranging from hippos to giant serpents, all carved from the local limestone. While Ángel Iñigo Blanco passed away in 2014, the Stone Zoo continues to be maintained in his memory. I recommend the visit.

(Translated by Google) A different place because of the originality of its stones carved in the shape of animals, but the most spectacular thing is its carved house, where you can enter and see the man drinking his coffee, the lady watching through the window, the boy and the girl, The details of the interior are impressive, in addition to the mural outside of the man with his horses in a caravan. It is a shame that there have already been people vandalizing it, as it is a masterpiece that should be respected. There is a restaurant at the entrance where one can eat quietly. The place is recommended, as is the sunset. Es una pena que ya hayan habido personas haciendo vandalismo, pues es una obra maestra que se debería respetar. Hay un restaurante en la entrada donde uno puede comer tranquilamente. Recomendable el lugar, así como la puesta de sol.

Palacio Salcines

Art gallery
Museums
Located in a grandiose structure, the renowned Palacio Salcines art gallery showcases captivating exhibitions. However, there appears to be a lack of adequate advertising for this cultural hub. Urgent intervention is necessary to prevent further deterioration of the building. Its iconic status demands preservation. The architecture and displays are intriguing, although the facility itself requires restoration work. Nevertheless, its stunning facade remains an undeniable highlight of this notable establishment.

Cayo Saetia

Island
Nature & Parks
Cayo Saetia is an island in the province of Holguin, Cuba, known for its thick forests, diverse wildlife, and beautiful sandy beaches. Visitors can enjoy a day excursion from nearby resorts that includes a catamaran ride to the island where they can partake in activities such as swimming, snorkeling, horseback riding, and jeep safaris. The island offers the opportunity to explore exotic tropical nature and engage in various water sports against a backdrop of stunning natural landscapes.
Cayo Saetía – A Stunning Escape with Adventure & Relaxation Visiting Cayo Saetía was an unforgettable experience. We took a catamaran from Melilla Harbour, which was a beautiful ride over crystal-clear waters. The beach had pristine white sand and warm, clear waters—perfect for swimming and relaxing. Beach chairs are available, making it easy to settle in and enjoy the scenery. However, if you're visiting in December, be mindful of jellyfish, as we did spot a few in the water. The restaurant on the island was excellent, serving fresh and delicious food. It’s a great spot to enjoy a meal while soaking in the tropical surroundings. One of the highlights was the African Safari, which is absolutely worth the money. We highly recommend opting for the jeeps for the best experience. They run multiple rounds, allowing you to explore and see exotic animals up close in a unique Cuban setting.
Mich M — Google review
Beautiful beach and clear warm waters. This place is well worth a day out. We went with Thomas cook who do not offer the safari on the island due to insurance issues with old 1930s russian army vehicles used to transport you. however if you are from the UK you can pay a small fee and do the safari. personally i would not bother, there are not many animals and more time on the beautiful beach would be a better option next time. Everyone there is very friendly, good food and a great experience.

Whilst in Cuba we booked an excursion to Cayo Saetia on a catamaran. Well worth the money as it was a beautiful island!

Absolutely adorable place. Crystal clear water, white soft sands and the nature around is stunning. Definitely go on a safari around the island, there is a lot to see. No wonder it is called Paradise Island.

Beautiful island. Lovely food and great jeep tour of national park.
Sue H — Google review
A lot of military surveillance, the personnel is not trained to answer many questions for fear of their leaders, a place where their people cannot go, practically very few people know the place, it is a pity that the Cubans themselves cannot enjoy some of its flora and fauna, I would never return.
Carlos L — Google review
I was born in Holguin Cuba, and heard of this key but in my years of life I have never heard from my family and friends, allan visited this place, it is sad to be part of a place that everyone calls wonderful when its own citizens do not know it Most of the Cuban people don't even know that these places exist. Don't travel to Cuba. Don't be complicit in the sadness of Cuban citizens.

Tucked away in the picturesque Pinares de Mayari mountains, Salto del Guayabo is a must-see attraction in Cuba. This stunning waterfall boasts an impressive 85-meter drop and is surrounded by lush pine forests and rolling hills. The moderately challenging hike to reach the waterfall offers breathtaking panoramic views of the valleys and rivers. Visitors can also enjoy a guided hike through tropical forests to reach the base of the waterfall, where a natural pool awaits for swimming.
Amaizing view, nice food, you can take a shower under the Guayabo waterfall and explore Cuban nature and wild life. The weather is different than in the valley. Awesom place!

Eagle Ray Diving Center

Diving center

Scuba & Snorkeling
The Eagle Ray Diving Center is an impressive establishment that comes highly recommended. It offers a remarkable experience for individuals without diving licenses, providing thorough and effective instruction in English. The center allows divers to partake in two dives, ensuring a comprehensive exploration of the ocean. Safety is a priority as they made the wise decision not to proceed with a second dive due to unfavorable weather conditions. The center's flexibility granted the opportunity to return for an additional day of diving, effectively doubling the experience.
Great brand new diving center! Highly competent instructors with great service! A lot of different dive sites to explore. Highly recommend.
Mikhail N — Google review
Took my open diver licence years ago. Staff very friendly and open. Some speak good english. About 20 different spots to dive. Picturesque but not extreme. Doing their job very well. Excellent prices. Negotiable. International divers from Europe and Canada. Willing to teach and spend a nice time in a relaxed atmosphere. Hundred percent 5 stars for the staff. Eighty for the thrill and equipment. Enjoy your leisure time here.
Didi G — Google review
Amazing and would highly recommend. This was my first time diving in an ocean and I do not have my license. My instructor spoke pretty good English and was very thorough. We went on two dives. The first dive we just walked into the water and went around, at that time a boat went out with other divers and made the safe decision not to do another dive as it was too windy. They told me to come back the next day for my second dive. It ended up working out great as I basically got to go diving two days instead of one. My instructor also took a ton of photos for me! Thank you!
Michelle C — Google review
Great, easy diving, good organisation, excellent equipment. Only problem: hard to get in touch. Thank you for the nice dives!
Dajana S — Google review
This is an amazing Dive Centre. Excellent equipment and George has a huge knowledge of the local area. The best Dive Centre in Cuba and we used lots of them. Thanks for a wonderful time AAAA rating from me.
Katherine P — Google review
Very disappointed. We called ahead the day before and booked a 2 tank dive my for wife and I. We were told to be at the dive centre at 09:00am the next day. We explained we were an hour away and would need to take a taxi. Not a problem. 2 tank dive was quoted at $60 CUC each. The next day came, we left our 2 kids with their grandfather, and we took the hour long taxi from where we were staying to the dive centre. The taxi cost us $40CUC return. We made the walk down the beach to where the dive centre was as the taxi driver dropped us off next to Club Amigo. As we were walking up the beach to the dive centre we watched as a diver walked towards the beach to a dive boat. I figured it couldn’t be the first dive as they wouldn’t been leaving this early. It was 09:08. We got to the dive centre at 09:10 and was told the dive boat just left! The guy at the dive shop said they waited until 9am but when we didn't show up they figured we weren't coming and left. I was extremely disappointed. I explained that if they wanted to leave at 9am they should have told us to be there at 08:30. I'm fairly certain that they just forgot about us. I've been on enough dives to know that if you are told to be there at 9am, you generally don't leave for at least 30 mins. There are forms to fill out, payment to take, and equipment to gather. Instead, they left with only 1 diver for the first dive. I asked if there was still a chance we could do 2 dives today seeing as we arranged it the day before and spent so much on a taxi. He waited until the dive master was back from the first dive to tell us that they were only doing 1 more dive that day. I was very upset. I asked if we could at least pay only $30 CUC each seeing as it wasn't really our fault for missing the first dive. He said no that 1 dive is $45 CUC and if we wanted to do 1 dive today, that's what the cost would be. Unbelievable. We ended up doing 1 dive seeing as we traveled so far.
Jesse V — Google review
Brand new place, nice diving sites. A professional and friendly team! Thank you Jorge and Alex for all the dives!
Sylvain G — Google review
Nice dives but the best ever dive was the shark dive. It was very expensive 170cuc but you have a 3 hour drive and you get to see bull sharks

Really enjoyed my stay at Hostal la Reina! *Owners are kind and helpful *Place is really clean and looked after *Convenient location. Less than 10 minute walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. Also there's post office near by and barber shop *Delicious and filly breakfast available for extra cost Highly recommend!
Karolina Š — Google review
In a typical socialist Cuban building staying at typical Cuban street we have found perfectly clean, comfortable room offering everything that needs a traveling family with two children. Owners are very friendly young people ready to help in everything you may need. Close to the Hostal you can find small fruit market and some shops and kiosks with local drinks and food. Hostal La Reina offers much more than any all inclusive "paradise". It offers 100% Cuba exactly the way we expected. And this the reason why if I turn to Cuba I will find the same form of accomodation. We were 100% satisfied. I strongly recomend to visit Cuba this way and to stay some days in Hostal La Reina. Many thanks! Muchas gracias!

The area is surrounded by upmarket beach resorts and offers stunning beaches like Playa Pesquero. Visitors can enjoy activities such as catamaran rides and exploring the biodiverse jungles of Alejandro de Humboldt National Park.
Gorgeous beach very clean. Water was calm but cooler than I imagined. Lots of water sports and excursions available. Snorkelling is incredible as you don’t need to swim far to see all the fish.

It's the best spot for the beach. In front of the other hotels there are rocks making it harder to get in the water. If you need something, just talk to the life guards. I recommend finding Lazaro, the Morgan Freeman of the beach (reference to shawshank redemption) he will help you find what you need. He got his license for the excursions and can change currency at the real rate and do e-transfer, so it's very useful to take is Whatsapp number to do business Here's a few examples for the currency 1usd -> 120cup hotel 1usd -> 355cup real rate for cubans at the food market Just has a reference 1kg of rice is about 700cup or 2usd (i was surprised to see the cuban rice fields) and 900ml of cooking oil is 1200cup

The beach is beautiful and you can walk up to a dive spot for amazing snorkelling, if you take bread banana or boiled eggs different types of fish love it . The only down side is ignorant people from hotel kept leaving there plastic cups and cans .
Susan J — Google review
Great resort with 3 volleyball nets (one on the beach, one near the pool and another in it). Snack bar aka "beer garden" near the beach has good snacks and is close to the beach. There are a lot of catamarans and windsurfing gear there. There are instructors to provide lessons for an extra fee. There is a cool dolphinarium nearby in a middle of a bay, about 1 hour by bus and then boat. The place is clean and sanitized. The staff are friendly.
Danil S — Google review
The resort itself was amazing but the service and the food (especially the foods) are terrible! If you like over cooked and terrible food, by all means. I was one of few Canadian tourists in Cuba who got victimized by their PCR test scam. They pick 1 random person per hotel/Resort to get a vindictive positive pcr result and send to a hotel-clinic for mandatory 5-day observation and then will insist for you to take a medication called Heberon Alfa and tells you that they guarantee negative pcr test result if you take it. Even if you refused multiple times the doctors will keep trying to convince you to say yes to it. They won't tell you how much it'll cost you for medication and for staying there even if you asked multiple times. They will not give you a copy of your bill until they finally charged your card - watch out! They will over charge your card as well. I strongly advise avoiding travel to Cuba if you don't want to get victimized by this organized crime making profit out of pandemic! #notoCuba #scaminCuba #hotelplayapesquero #playapesquero #terribleservice #terriblefood #terriblecountry #covidscam #pcrtestscam #pandemicscam

I just got back from Playa Pesquero on Feb 06, 2023 Here’s my honest feedback: -Excellent beach, water , snorkelling spots, water activities like catamaran -Clean and nice rooms -Average and repetitive buffet food , many times they bring back the past days food for serving, so 3 of us got stomach aches during our stay. -Poor drink variety, no mojito, no margarita, no tequila was available -Not so good restaurants for reservations -Nice staff and also there is an opportunity to take a tour to visit the surrounding villages.

It features the emblematic Provincial Museum of History La Periquera and Calixto Garcia park, surrounded by commercial venues. One of the three central Holguin parks. Always lots to look at . The cathedral on the east side is always worth a visit. Also the giant bronze fresco on the west side depicting part of Cuba's history is very striking.
Robin W — Google review
Despite the general deterioration of cities in Cuba due to negligence or outright lack of maintenance, el Parque de las Flores is still defiantly a nice spot in the heart of Holguin. With the Church on one side, el Benny bar-cabaret on the opposite side, a bustling yet quiet place, where families go after the sun gives the land a rest and the warm night settles.

The cold pool that they say there is is a puddle next to the sea, also of dubious cleanliness. (Original) Nos recomendaron en Gibara ir a esta playa porque decían que era muy bonita. Parque Serafín Sánchez, located in Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, is a bustling public square surrounded by a mix of colonial and modern buildings. The plaza features the Biblioteca Provincial Ruben Martinez, resembling a local opera house. It is also home to an eclectic mix of 18th- and 19th-century architecture, including the town library and a museum showcasing the province's history. As the sun sets, locals gather at the park to socialize.
Being the province capital, Sancti Spiritus is not that popular than its sister city Trinidad due to the fame of World Heritage of Trinidad. However this city is a hidden gem in Cuba that you can slowly enjoy its colonial charm without much hassle and in a less tourist ambience. Also found in 1514, Sancti Spiritus is also one of the earliest cities founded by the Spanish and it just celebrates its 500 birthday in 2014. Thus, the oldest church and bridge can be found in this city. At its centre, Parque Serafin Sanchez may be one of the most beautiful colonial plaza in Cuba where handsome neoclassical mansions stood around the park. It is not a off beaten destination and worth a day to stroll inside the old quarter and enjoy the friendly and shy smile of the local.
