City Museum is a one-of-a-kind attraction that combines art installation, playground, and discovery center all in one. Housed in a massive 600,000 square-foot former shoe company building, this museum is the result of local artists' creativity and resourcefulness. It features an array of found objects such as old chimneys, salvaged bridges, construction cranes, miles of tile, and even abandoned airplanes.
This is the best museum I've ever been to! Words can't describe what it truly is. There had to been over 50 slides easily. Even an 8 story slide!! Awesome fun for kids and adults. Pinball hall was nostalgic. Lots of crazy art and sculptures everywhere. Food places throughout. We didn't pay extra for the roof experience and I'm glad we didn't because we couldn't even finish the entire inside in about 4 hours. Definitely plan a whole day here. It really is a one of a kind experience. If you come to St. Louis do not pass this up. There is something for everyone.

100% worth the money and the trip. Up to you if you pay the extra to go to the rooftop, its cool but so much to do on the other 4 floors even without it! My niece and nephew had a blast. I do advise packing some headlamp lights if you have them from camping (if I would have known i would have brought our from home -Indy) Im a bigger women 280s and couldn't fit everywhere but plenty of places to explore with the kids and had a blast and adventure with them. We would go back again and again. For the price, I bought the yearly pass (came with 2 extra tickets for this year - covered all 4 of us) for the kids and we hope to come back and will just have to pay for 2 tickets if we make it back.
Teoda T — Google review
What a neat museum! The kids LOVED climbing and crawling through the numerous tunnels. We paid to go onto the roof but didn't think that was necessarily worth the extra cost based on our interests. Some of the climbing tunnels were tricky for my 11 year old because he's getting so tall and his feet are too big to fit in some of the spaces for better footing. He still had a blast though. You could easily spend a whole day here. We got flatbread pizza and it was delicious! The flesh eating fish were a favorite for my family. The floor with the vault room had a nasty smell that made us rush to another area but other than that we really enjoyed our visit.

This was one of the coolest attractions we’ve ever been to! Our group was all adults age 28-50. So some of the more athletic elements were more challenging (and maybe we could have worn kneepads and better shoes…) we thought the rooftop, especially at sunset was well worth the upgrade. We got drinks and enjoyed the sunset from the roof. We did as much of the climbing around as we could! But it was nice that there was often left arduous options for those who wanted to participate but not exactly crawl and climb through tight passages. The pinball hall was also awesome!!! We could’ve spent hours there If you’re of drinking age, highly recommend finding the full service bar that’s tucked away on the first floor!
Aileen M — Google review
My kids 6 & 8 loved City Museum!! My 6 year old is a big climber and she was in heaven! Nearly every floor had a unique climbing opportunity for her. The caves, treehouse, and Monstro-City were the biggest hits with our crew. My 8 year old loved the tunnels on the first floor. He had a great time squeezing into small spaces and seeing where he came out. We spent 7 hours and did everything except the new Labyrinth area. It is definitely a full day activity. If we lived here, we would be back often! Knee pads were a great suggestion. Our only issue was the 2nd floor restaurant got behind at lunchtime and we had to wait 30min for our food. The restaurant staff was struggling and their attitude did not reflect good customer service.

A Surreal Playground for Grown-Ups (Kids Allowed😉) City Museum is one of those places that makes you stop mid-crawl and think, “This should not exist… and yet it does.” I learned that the hard way when I got myself wedged into one of their tiny funnel tunnels — 5-year-old spirit, 52-year-old body, 52-centimeter hole. Hysterical, humbling, unforgettable. The rooftop is absolutely worth the extra charge. Between the skyline views, the full-sized bus dangling over the edge, and a Ferris wheel in the clouds, it feels like you’re inside someone’s beautifully unhinged dream. Despite looking like a children’s playground, this place is really an adult playground where kids are welcome. Millennial and Gen-X nostalgia runs wild. Think Willy Wonka + the Haunted Mansion + Meramec Caverns. My most transported moment? The insectarium turned into a haunted maze for Halloween weekend — no scare actors, just pure eerie atmosphere that hit me right in the childhood. The whole museum made me laugh, climb, crawl, tense up, and grin like I hadn’t in years. If City Museum were a feeling, it’d be straight-up euphoria. I’ll be back — with a whole crew.
Chad E — Google review
100/10 by far the best most amazing place we have ever visited. There was soooo much to do and see and discover. It was a mind blowing experience and was worth way more than what we paid for it. Is extremely kid friendly and I would even say your kids could and will get lost in the tunnels. Is so worth it though. There is an entire cave system and plenty to climb on and through. A free circus show was included as well. Highly recommend!!!
Paradise W — Google review
Wow! This place is absolutely mind blowing! Never seen anything like it!! Would love to go again! Heads up they are card only throughout the building but they have machines where you can turn cash into a visa card that can be used anywhere. I read reviews before coming so I was mentally prepared for some craziness and it absolutely was. You will immediately lose your child but they'll have an absolute blast! The sooner you accept this the more fun everyone can have. Have a plan for how to find each other or where to meet. They also provide a spot for your phone number on the wrist bands, absolutely fill it out. I brought my 9 yo and 3 month old. It's possible to get around with a stroller but slightly tight and complicated in certain areas. The elevators tend to be pretty busy. A small umbrella stroller would have worked out better then a large jogging stroller etc. There are plenty of bars with great drink options throughout the building, have one (or a few)! This place is absolutely sensory overload but we're creating core memories here! There's also a few food and snacks options but I recommend bringing snacks, you will be here a long time if you want to see/do it all (or most of it). We spent about 7 hours there! Have your kiddos bring a flash light for crawling through the caves indoors if they are afraid of the dark. They also sell cute little head lamps in the gift shop. Highly recommend paying the extra amount for the roof top playground area the view is absolutely amazing and it feels like more of a laid back vibe up there for when the inside becomes too much. The sunset from the top of the building is stunning. Amazing views. If you have kiddos that scare easy I recommend waiting till after their Halloween festivities are over. The decor is a little on the creepy side for little or more sensative kids. My kiddo wanted to avoid the whole third floor after walking through and seeing the Halloween decor there. Overall had an amazing time and my kiddo and myself both left hoping to come back again sometime!

Stadium
Located in downtown St. Louis, Busch Stadium is the home of the St. Louis Cardinals, a professional major league baseball team with an impressive 44,494 seating capacity and a retro-style design. The stadium offers tours that allow visitors to experience the view from radio commentary booths, see trophies won by the team, and enjoy stunning vistas of the city skyline and Gateway Arch from the bleachers. It's also worth noting that during its inaugural season, this stadium witnessed the St.
Excellent time, the atmosphere is great. Definitely check the station website or app before you go so you can be aware of any promos. We modes out of free ice cream on Sunday because I checked late. We went on a super hot day so it wasn’t crowded which is probably a good thing. Any outdoor stadium is going to be warm. There are plenty of places to step inside and cool down. Food selection was better than expected and we enjoyed our time.
Reanna H — Google review
Busch Stadium and the surrounding area are hands down one of the highlights of St. Louis! The stadium itself is super impressive, modern, clean, and full of energy. The atmosphere around it is electric, with fans, food, and entertainment creating a nonstop buzz that makes game day feel like a citywide celebration. It’s easily one of the nicest and most lively parts of St. Louis, and being there feels like stepping right into the heart of the city’s pride and spirit.
Rodzilla — Google review
This is hands down the best stadium I've ever been to (besides my home field in MKE "biased")... The staff is so friendly, the food selections are great and delicious (bacon wrapped hot dog is 💣) Happy hour prices for drinks, $5 beers, $6 margaritas. The fans were great and welcoming. The kids section was unlike I've ever seen with a large jungle gym, arcade games, and more. And incredible views! Will be back for a future game for sure.
Carlee B — Google review
The stadium is clean, modern, and nice. It’s also easy to navigate, with plenty of vendors and concessions. The seats were comfortable, and the every staff member we met was friendly and appreciative of our visit- I was blown away, because we received that welcoming spirit from more than just one or two staff members. The games they played between innings were fun too! I recommend for Cardinals fans, baseball fans, or just for a nice sports activity.
John T — Google review
Haven't been to a lot of major league parks but this one takes the cake so far. Just loved the open feel and family friendliness throughout the park. Coming in from Milwaukee, the staff and fans were super friendly. If you go , don't just sit in your seat. Walk around and take it all in. I ventured up to the upper deck and walked behind the outfield and found $5 beers and hot dogs during the game. We were able to park downtown for free and walk five minutes to the game. Sunday morning before the game we were able to go to the arch, which was a huge bonus.
John K — Google review
St. Louis is well known as one of the great baseball towns & Busch Stadium lives up to the hype. Busch Stadium is a beautiful ballpark with the batter looking out at downtown and the arch. I've been to several ballparks around the country, each is great, but this is one of the better ones. 100% recommend!
Hagz — Google review
I attended a game here recently and really loved the stadium. I walked all around and found many types of food including traditional ball park food, BBQ, Asian, etc. The announcements could be heard easily. The video boards were nice.
Branden M — Google review
Such a great stadium. Prices are very reasonable and it is very clean too. Lots of fan engagement before and during the game. One of my favorite stadiums for sure. Very family friendly too, if you need that. Plenty of options for food drink etc.

The Gateway Arch

Mentioned on
+89 other lists
Monument
Sights & Landmarks
The Gateway Arch stands as a monumental tribute to the expansion of the American West, soaring 630 feet into the sky. A visit to this iconic landmark is not complete without ascending to its apex, where breathtaking views of St. Louis and the Mississippi River await. The enclosed tram ride offers a unique journey to the Observation Deck, providing panoramic vistas that stretch up to 30 miles in all directions on clear days.
The Museum at the Gateway Arch is fantastic. I absolutely loved it. It is super cool, very clean, well put together, and overall a wonderful experience. It had been a while since I had gone to the top, and the whole experience is completely different now. The museum does an excellent job of walking you through the competition for the design, the history, and the unbelievable engineering that went into creating the Arch. You walk away with a new appreciation for how this iconic monument was even possible. The ride to the top is about three minutes. I am claustrophobic myself, but it was absolutely doable, and so worth it. Once you’re up there and looking out those windows, you understand immediately why people line up to do it. The Arch is an architectural marvel, and this museum helps you grasp just how incredible it really is. I highly recommend visiting. I will make it a point to come back every time I’m in Saint Louis.
Clinton W — Google review
The museum was very educational and informative and enjoyable. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the displays were laid out well. The tram ride to the top of the Arch was a unique experience too (not for the claustrophobic for sure). The time at the top is just about right, you take pictures out both sides (although the Illinois view is a bit bland). The tram ride down is a bit quicker and then you climb the stairs and head out right at the base the Arch for more pictures.
Sasnak 6 — Google review
The Gateway Arch is an architectural wonder and true marvel—absolutely breathtaking up close. The way the sunlight glints off its sleek, curved metal exterior is stunning, and those tiny observation windows near the top are barely visible from the ground, adding to its mystery and beauty. Once inside, the tram ride to the top is a one-of-a-kind experience. The small, capsule-like pods are definitely close quarters—so if you're claustrophobic or afraid of heights, it may be a challenge. That said, I found it comforting that there are windows in the tram doors, and I could see the emergency staircase the entire way up. The motion of ascending and curving over with the structure was unlike anything I’ve ever done. At the top—wow. The observation area is smaller than I expected, and yes, you can feel a gentle sway. But that only added to the thrill! We were lucky to visit on a clear, sunny day, and the views were absolutely spectacular—panoramic scenes of St. Louis and the Mississippi River. Afterward, we relaxed on the lawn beneath the Arch, looking up in awe and snapping some of our favorite photos of the day. Truly an unforgettable experience!
SR — Google review
We decided to check out the St. Louis Arch and went all the way to the top. The ride up is definitely an experience — you’re crammed into a small capsule with 4 or 5 other people and there’s absolutely no view on the way up. If you’re claustrophobic, I wouldn’t recommend it. Once at the top, you get about 10–14 minutes to look around. Honestly, that’s all you need — the view is nice, but it’s a quick visit. The area below ground was actually more interesting to me. There’s a museum with a lot of history and facts about the arch and the area. One important thing to note: St. Louis outside the downtown/tourist area can feel very rough. We accidentally took a wrong exit and ended up in a not-so-great neighborhood — and that’s coming from someone who grew up in a tough city. Stick to the main paths, and plan your route carefully. Overall, worth doing once for the experience, but be prepared and know what to expect.
Angelina R — Google review
Visiting the Gateway Arch was an amazing experience and a true highlight of my trip. The monument itself is stunning—pictures don’t do justice to how impressive it feels when you’re standing right beneath it. The museum at the base is also well done, offering a great look at the history and engineering behind the Arch. The tram ride to the top was a unique and memorable part of the visit. It’s a bit quirky and retro, but that’s what makes it fun. The ride is smooth, and once you reach the top, the views are absolutely worth it. Seeing St. Louis and the Mississippi River from that height is something you won’t forget. The staff throughout the experience were friendly, organized, and helpful, making everything easy and enjoyable. Whether you’re into architecture, history, or just love a great view, the Gateway Arch and its tram ride are definitely worth the stop. Highly recommended!
Sudip J — Google review
Visited the Gateway Arch in St. Louis and had a really calm, pleasant experience. We watched a short 10-minute film about the history and architecture of the Arch, which made the visit even more interesting. The staff were helpful and shared additional information, which we really appreciated. After that, we took the tram to the top, and the view from up there was absolutely beautiful. No rush anywhere — everything felt smooth and well organized. A great place to visit if you’re looking for a peaceful experience with amazing scenery.
Libu S — Google review
Major shout out to the Gateway arch, and those that maintain the grounds and Parkway area. You guys are truly set in the bar for excellence with regards to customer service the gateway, arch, a spectacular architectural wonder it is an absolutely musty. It is literally the gate between the west and the east and everything in between if you’re headed westbound to California and you’ve never seen it it’s a must see if you’re heading home California back to Chicago. It’s a must see whether it’s day or night. I’ve come here multiple times traveling westbound to California or return trips from California traveling east to Chicago still need to experience that tram ride going to the top. So I have to plug that into the itinerary for next time.
Stephen A — Google review
If you like architecture, history and nature, the Gateway Arch is a really fulfilling experience. Everything is beautiful, well thought out and organized. The guides are friendly, the tram is ingenious and it all has a very good St. Louis stamp. The arch itself is a true marvel.

Lincoln Home National Historic Site

Historical place
Sights & Landmarks
The Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Springfield is a well-preserved Greek-Revival home where Abraham Lincoln and his family lived for 17 years. The house, with its period furnishings, offers tours that provide insight into Lincoln's life before he became President. The site includes the America's National Parks Store, a charming gift shop offering unique souvenirs and educational materials reflecting America's natural heritage.
A place worth visiting that makes you feel like you just stepped into a time capsule of the 1800s. Unfortunately we missed the tour of Abraham Lincoln's home yet we still decided to visit. I'm glad we did. The small neighborhood is open to the public even after the actual home closest for tours. It might be even better as when we arrived in the late afternoon it was very quiet. You can even imagine Abraham Lincoln standing in front of his home like the pictures detail. There is a location of where you can a picture with the same perspectives of the historic image. The neighborhood looks very well kept up. Several information about placards are placed throughout the neighborhood detailing various aspects. Walking distance from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential museum.
W O — Google review
We highly recommend arriving early as only a limited number of visitors are allowed per tour. It is not unusual to have to wait more than an hour or two for the next available tour. We arrived about a half hour before opening and there was already a group of visitors waiting for the NPS to unlock the door. Please note, though the museum and house tour are free, there is a fee for parking in the lot, it is self-pay through a machine, and we overheard they will not validate, though on street parking is free if it is a weekend. We had a fantastic National Park Service tour guide who delivered a well-paced and engaging narrative about the history of the home and the era in which the Lincoln family lived there. They also impressed us with their knowledge, confidently answering every question a visitor asked. There are many original personal artifacts from the Lincoln family on display inside the home and the railing inside the house is still original, meaning your hand will be touching the same railing the Lincoln’s touched countless occasions in a time so far removed from now. Don’t forget to tour the grounds and enter the other homes in the neighborhood. There is a luxury three-seater out house in the back yard that is quite interesting. (I can’t imagine.) If you love NPS sites, historic homes and/or past presidential history this should be on your bucket list.
Wanderfish — Google review
We visited the Lincoln Home National Historic Site. They weren’t open for tours of the house when we went, but we still had a great time walking around, reading the history signs, and taking it all in. It’s so interesting to read about the people who used to live in Lincoln’s neighborhood. Such a beautiful area — especially in the fall with all the colorful trees. Definitely one to add to your bucket list if you haven’t been!

“A powerful step back in time – more than just a museum.” Visiting the Lincoln Home was one of the most meaningful experiences I had in Springfield. This is the actual house where Abraham Lincoln lived for 17 years before becoming the 16th President of the United States — and it’s been beautifully preserved. The guided tours are free (you just need to pick up a timed ticket at the Visitor Center), and the park rangers do a great job telling stories not only about Lincoln’s political life but also his everyday family life. It brings history alive in a very personal way.

Visiting the Lincoln Home in Springfield, IL was a truly memorable experience. Nestled in the middle of two preserved city blocks, the setting does an incredible job of transporting you back to the 1800s. The surrounding neighborhood, with its old roads and period homes, really helps set the stage for the life and times of Abraham Lincoln. It felt like stepping into a living piece of history. There is a wealth of information available not only about Lincoln himself, but also about the people and community that surrounded him. The exhibits and guided tours provide great insight into the social and political atmosphere of the time. It’s not just a house—it’s a deep dive into the world that helped shape one of our nation’s greatest presidents. Walking through Lincoln’s actual home and standing in the same rooms where he once lived was surreal. Many of the furnishings are original, and seeing his personal letter desk—shockingly small!—was a humbling reminder of how much was accomplished from such a modest space. It’s a quiet, powerful experience to be in a place that holds so much historical significance. This site is a wonderful destination for both adults and younger visitors. It’s the perfect place to help expand young minds and give them a tangible connection to history. Plus, here’s a fun fact I didn’t know until this visit—Lincoln loved cats and used to bring strays home regularly. That little detail just made him feel even more real. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the Springfield area!

This is a fantastic way to see into the life of Abraham Lincoln. The park guide was very knowledgeable. They have actual pieces of their furniture, books, stove, and artifacts that belonged to the Lincolns. The tour lasts about 30min but they have an entire neighborhood you can explore. You have to be able to climb stairs and fit in small spaces to go inside the house.

Lovely area with pictoral exhibits outside, but the Visitor's center was closed. No warning, no sign, just locked doors. There were at least 5 other couples wondering why it was closed, just like us. We're thinking it was because of the Government shutdown, but they could have at least posted a sign on the door.

Wonderful place to visit. Well done NPS! Make sure you see the film in the visitor center. Very good! Also check out the Dean House where you can see three different scale models of the home, each depicting different stages of renovations theLincolns did.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum offers a unique experience with its historical exhibits, interactive displays, and special effect theaters. Visitors can explore the life of Abraham Lincoln from his humble beginnings in a small cabin to his presidency and tragic assassination. The museum showcases original artifacts and full-size replicas of significant life scenes.
Made a point to swing through here with the kids on our road trip. Not too crowded and was able to get through it in about 2 hrs. Parking is across the street for $5 which is worth it. Street parking is hut and miss. We all enjoyed the Museum. The theatrical presentation with a live performer was pretty cool. The live Lincoln scenes in and throughout the museum are very well done. The life and death of Lincoln in the Capital section was fab. Especially liked where he was in repose. Would come back.

An absolute must-see, one of the best museums I've ever been to. It was both interesting and entertaining, thanks to the wax figures and overall staging. Tons of good ideas. Don't miss Ghosts of the Library, it's amazing. I'd advise to allocate 2-3 hours to your visit.

A wonderful and educational experience for the whole family! I took my children (ages 9, 10, and 13), and they absolutely loved it. The exhibits are so engaging and interactive that they stayed interested the entire time — and they actually learned a lot about Abraham Lincoln and our nation’s history. The museum does an amazing job of bringing the past to life in a way that’s both fun and meaningful for kids and adults alike. Everything was clean, well organized, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We left feeling inspired and impressed — highly recommend visiting if you’re anywhere near Springfield!

I visited with friends and we had the absolute best time learning all about Abraham Lincoln. This was my second Presidential museum and I found it very insightful, informative, and overall intriguing to take my time going through each of the available exhibits. The staff and security were friendly and attentive to all of the people (and school groups) there in attendance on the day we visited.

An unforgettable journey through Lincoln’s legacy! Visiting the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum was an incredibly moving experience. The museum brings Lincoln’s story to life in such a vivid, immersive way — from his humble beginnings to his presidency and the Civil War. The exhibits are beautifully curated and emotionally powerful. Whether you’re a history buff or just curious, you’ll leave with a deeper appreciation of Lincoln’s enduring impact. Just a few blocks away, we walked the same brick streets Lincoln did at the Lincoln Home National Historic Site. Touring his home and the preserved neighborhood truly made history feel alive. The park rangers were knowledgeable and passionate, sharing stories of Lincoln’s family life and his rise in politics. It was surreal to stand where the “Great Republican Rally” was held in 1860 right in front of his house. If you’re in Springfield don’t miss this powerful and inspiring stop — it’s a must-see for all Americans.

Very nice museum, enjoyable for people of all ages. You will feel transported back in time if you also tour Lincoln’s home during your visit.

Great museum that let's you walk through the stages of Abraham Lincoln's life. Recently added AR features are a nice way to keep children entertained while learning at the same time

Being a state-run attraction, the Abraham Lincoln President Library Museum is open during the federal government shutdown. This museum was really nicely organized. We went through only a portion of the full museum, the hall that showed Abe's early years up to his election, and the hall that showed his years as the president. The exhibits are really well done, with a lot of eye opening descriptions. Everything is on one level, so it's easy for the mobility challenged to move through the halls. They have a nice cafe, about $15 per meal.

Hiking Trails
Starved Rock State Park is a historic landmark area offering a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and boating. The park features canyons, trails, a lodge, and cabins for visitors to enjoy. Hiking in the park provides an opportunity to experience nature's beauty with moderate to difficult trails that lead to lookouts along the upper trails.
Starved Rock has always been an amazing experience for me and my family. The campgrounds are great, and the visitor center is really nice, it has good food and easy access to the trails. The hiking paths are absolutely beautiful and make for a perfect escape from city life to enjoy fresh air, nature, and some incredible rock formations. Some areas feel like a glimpse into what the Earth looked like ages ago. I definitely recommend exploring beyond the main trails especially along the riverbanks and past French Canyon, for even more hidden rock formations and views.
Alex A — Google review
Beautiful park with challenging hiking trials. There was a lot of stairs to reach high elevation points of the canons and cliffs. Be prepared to get your heart rate up. The fall hike was very picturesque as the foliage colors were very beautiful. A perfect time of year to visit.
Michelle B — Google review
I went myself alone, but it was super safe. A lof of people bring their kids, too. There are stairs a little up and down, which is doable. I spent around 2.5 hours to look around French Canyon, Cat Canyon, and . I was recommended to visit here after rain so that I can see waterfall, but I just decided to go with no rain before. However, it is still worth to visit! Parking lot is free, but it can be occupied all though you will get to find a few spots available. I saw some people fishing as well. The staffs at the visitor center are very nice. I asked what's their recommendation, and I just followed. They also let me know the expected time to get some points.
Choono — Google review
Starved Rock State Park truly feels like a hidden gem in the Midwest. The moment you enter, you can feel the difference—tall trees, clean air, and peaceful nature all around. The hiking trails are the best part. Each one leads to something exciting: tall canyons, flowing waterfalls, and beautiful river views. My favorite spot was the overlook where you can see the Illinois River—it’s calm, wide, and picture-perfect. The park is big, but the trails are easy to follow. Some paths are simple and great for families, while others have stairs and cliffs that make the hike more adventurous. Visiting the canyons at Starved Rock during the dry season is a completely different experience, but still a beautiful one. Even though the waterfalls are not flowing now, the canyons themselves are worth the trip. Without water, you get to see the pure rock formations, the layers, and the shapes carved by nature over thousands of years. French Canyon is a favorite because of its narrow, smooth entrance that makes you feel like you’re walking through a natural stone tunnel. Wildcat Canyon , St. Louis Canyon are equally impressive, Overall, the canyons at Starved Rock are absolutely worth the trip. They are the heart of the park and make it one of the most beautiful nature destinations in Illinois. Highly recommended for anyone who loves hiking, waterfalls, or photography
Sureshmi S — Google review
An amazing place, but ... This visit missed the waterfalls, since all are dry (due to lack of rainfall) except one spring-fed. CHECK FOR SPRING CONDITION IF YOU ARE COMING TO SEE WATERFALLS. Still very cool. Lodge reminds me of Giant City State Park Lodge. Landscape reminiscent of Giant City and Garden of the God's in SI. Lots of cool stuff in area as well. Highly recommend.

Great place for hiking with friends, family and your four legs buddies. Wear adequate clothing and shoes and be prepared for doing wood stairs. Carry water with you at all times. Great workout and you will feel quickly the air quality is so different just a little outside the city.
Kelly B — Google review
Great hike. You can go a little or a lot. We chose a lot. 12.22 miles. We didn't even see all of it. Fall colors were beautiful. Lots of stairs. By the visitor center there is paved walking or boardwalk. Lots of maps and very well marked. Morning is best if you want less crowds. Fall was beautiful for colors but waterfalls were dried up. Canyons are fantastic views.

Five stars!! Staying at the cabins and hiking for a few days here for the weekend was the BEST idea. With this time of year and not getting much rain, only one waterfall was flowing during our hikes~ But it was still so worth seeing the sites, critters, trees, overlooks, rock formations, trails, and history of the Starved Rock! When you rent a cabin you can also rent the fire pit in front of the lodge~ We cooked dinner there! Absolutely relaxing and all around fun.

The Morton Arboretum, established in 1922 by Joy Morton, is a sprawling 1,700-acre nature preserve in Lisle. It boasts an impressive collection of over 4,100 tree species and 222,000 plants. Visitors can explore the diverse landscape through 16 miles of trails or hop on the Acorn Express tram for a guided tour. The arboretum also features outdoor art exhibitions and larger-than-life garden sculptures that add to its serene and meditative atmosphere.
I've been a member AMD have going here for yrs. I love all the events that they provide throughout the yr. I enjoy walking though the Arboretum it's so peaceful and enjoy finding the Artwork from different artists through out the years. Everyone who works there are so friendly and helpful. I recommend going if you enjoy nature. They have a cute area for kids and a hedge maze. I enjoy bringing family and friends from it of town here when they come to visit.

This a gorgeous place to visit! So much land to cover. Lots of beautiful flowers and trees. Path ways are clear. Lots of places for picnics. It's fun to search for the structures throughout your journey! My cons about this place are the reason why I gave 3 stars. The tram train was not running...I feel a discount should have been given because that was the 1 thing I was looking forward to doing there. Secondly, we met friends there and our friends didn't enter the park until after 5pm...the park closes at sunset which was 7:10pm the day we went. So they paid 25.00 each person for about an hour and a half of being able to visit. Just thinking it would be ideal to offer a half price rate on entry for the last 2 hours they are open. You can barely drive through the property in an hour and a half. The east side has the beautiful sunset by the water and that is really pretty. I'd go back only if I had the whole day to spend there because 25.00 a person for a couple hours is a bit steep.
Jen M — Google review
This was our first experience with the park. The wait time to enter the park on a really nice weather was around 20 minutes. Then it took another 10 minutes to find a parking space. The park is huge and offers a lot of attractions for kids. Tens of miles of trails for walkers or bike riders. A huge pavillion with a place to sit down and get a refreshement. A nice kids garden and a large maze for everyone. I liked everything about it. The price of admission for non-members is significant. It is better to become an annual member.

The Arboretum was just what I needed—time in God’s presence surrounded by His creation. The trees are so tall and majestic, it felt like walking through a living cathedral of nature. It’s a very large park with so much to explore—you can drive through, walk, or bike ride on the many trails. They even have a bike rental area, beautiful gardens, and peaceful lakes. Truly a place to rest, reflect, and reconnect with God through the beauty of His handiwork.

Loved it there, a lot of fun for kids. Loved the labyrinth and there was also a Spanish legacy day and music played everywhere. Huge territory, loved that they have it organised, so you can drive to different locations and enjoy beautiful views on fields with trees and bushes.

A glorious fall day, we hiked a couple miles to a stand of gorgeous maple trees. There is a map and trail signs to help you find your way. The visitor center is large and accommodating with a small take out restaurant and lots of outdoor seating. There are also fanciful scattered statues of animals.

A beautiful place to visit with the kids. The children's garden has a lot of activities. The maze was the most fun and not too difficult. Tram tours are a good idea especially if you are there for the first time since it's a huge place.

Located on the 103rd floor of the former Sears Tower, Skydeck Chicago provides visitors with breathtaking views of four states. The unique viewing platform The Ledge lies 4ft outside the building dimensions and offers brave visitors unrivaled views over the city. With museum-quality exhibits and a 60-second ride up to the 103rd floor, Skydeck Chicago is a must-see attraction in Chicago.
Absolutely amazing experience! The little museum section before going up was a great surprise — very well done and full of interesting facts. The elevator ride up was fast and smooth, and then… the grand finale! Standing on the glass ledge and taking a photo “in the air” was just incredible. WoW! A must-do experience if you’re visiting the city.

From the moment we stepped into the Willis Tower, the excitement was real. The elevator ride up to the 103rd floor was fast and smooth, and the views? Absolutely breathtaking. You get a full panoramic look at Chicago’s skyline, Lake Michigan, and on a clear day, even parts of neighboring states! But the real highlight? The Ledge. 😱 These glass boxes extend out from the building, letting you stand 1,353 feet above the ground with nothing but glass beneath your feet. It was thrilling, surreal, and surprisingly not as scary as it looks! 🎉 The kids had an absolute blast! They were jumping, posing, and laughing the whole time. It was so heartwarming to see them enjoy something so unique and adventurous. The staff were super friendly and helped us get some great photos too.
Harish ( — Google review
We visited the Skydeck totally spontaneously on a Saturday night and had such a great experience! We were originally going to buy tickets at the self-checkout kiosk, but the prices were pretty high, so I checked online and found a much better deal through Tripster. The tickets were emailed instantly and we walked right in with the barcodes. Before reaching the ledge, you go through a really well-done museum with interactive displays about Chicago’s history, architecture, and the Willis Tower. It definitely adds to the whole experience. Once you get to the Skydeck, the line looks long but moves quickly and efficiently. We actually got to go out on the ledge multiple times and take plenty of photos. They take one professional photo from above, then you get 90 seconds to take your own. At the end, all the photos taken of you get uploaded to a card they give you, and you can download a few digital postcards for free. Even though it was raining the night we went, the views were still breathtaking. It’s a little pricey, but honestly worth it — it’s not something you do every day, and the views alone make it memorable. We’d love to come back on a clear day to get more pictures together. Highly recommend for both locals and visitors!

🌇 Review: Skydeck Chicago – Willis Tower The Skydeck at Willis Tower in Chicago is truly one of the most thrilling and memorable experiences the city has to offer. Located on the 102nd floor of this iconic skyscraper (formerly known as Sears Tower), it offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the entire city and Lake Michigan. The building itself is a marvel of engineering — constructed decades ago yet still standing as one of the tallest and most resilient structures in the world. You can actually feel and hear the gentle response of the building to strong winds, a reminder of its flexible yet sturdy design. Every year, the tower is struck by 50 to 60 lightning bolts, and its lightning protection system effectively neutralizes the charges — a fascinating aspect of its engineering brilliance. The highlight of the visit is definitely The Ledge — a glass balcony extending about 1.5 meters (4.3 feet) out from the main structure, allowing you to literally stand above the city and look straight down through the transparent glass floor. It’s a thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime experience that blends excitement with awe. The lift ride to the 102nd floor is smooth and fast, with an engaging video presentation about the building’s history during the ascent. The visitor area is well-organized, and staff are courteous and helpful. The surrounding shopping area and exhibits about Chicago’s history make the visit even more worthwhile. Overall, Skydeck Chicago is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the Windy City — whether you’re a traveler, engineer, photographer, or just someone who wants to see the world from above. The experience perfectly captures the spirit of Chicago: innovation, strength, and beauty.

The view was beautiful! And it’s great that they allow you to take your own pictures. They do take some, but you have to pay extra for them in the end. We went at night so we could see the lights which was perfect for me. There was also a cute little attraction on the history of Chicago before you go up.

🔟 / 🔟 Hello, we were here. This is a very beautiful building, with a viewing platform over the entire city. Simply wonderful, the view is legendary and beautiful with a view of the whole of Chicago. Be prepared to wait, it can sometimes take up to 1 hour until you get to the top. The best way to order tickets is online. This is a trip for everyone, for young and old, for families, for couples, for friends or alone. Every visit here is worth it. Really very cool done. I really enjoyed the trip. Feel free to come by, you have to be here at least once when you are in Chicago. We'd love to come back. See you next time. ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻

Skydeck Chicago is one of the most unforgettable attractions in the city and absolutely worth a visit. Located on the 103rd floor of the Willis Tower, it offers a stunning panoramic view of Chicago that stretches for miles — you can even see parts of four states on a clear day! The elevator ride is super fast and smooth, and once you reach the top, the view will take your breath away. The highlight, of course, is The Ledge — the glass boxes that extend out from the building. Standing on it feels both exciting and terrifying at the same time, but it’s a must for anyone visiting. The staff are friendly and patient, helping everyone get great photos safely. The exhibits before the elevator ride are also very well done, giving you insight into Chicago’s history and architecture. It can get busy, especially around sunset, so booking tickets online ahead of time is highly recommended. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a local seeing the city from a new angle, Skydeck Chicago offers an experience that’s thrilling, beautiful, and uniquely Chicago.

Art museum
The Art Institute of Chicago is a renowned art museum that boasts an extensive collection of nearly 300,000 works from various cultures and time periods. Since its establishment in the late 1800s, the institute has grown to become one of America's largest art museums. Visitors can explore ancient Egyptian and Greek artifacts, iconic impressionist pieces by Monet and Van Gogh, as well as contemporary works by artists like Picasso, Warhol, and Pollock.
The Art Institute of Chicago is an absolute must-visit and one of the best museums in the U.S. We used the CityPASS, which gave us express entry — no long lines, a big plus! The museum is huge and beautifully curated, featuring world-famous masterpieces by Monet, Van Gogh, and many other renowned artists. The layout makes it easy to navigate, and there are plenty of clean restrooms throughout. I appreciated the bag check area where you can safely leave larger items, though small bags and water bottles are allowed inside. The souvenir shop is also impressive — large and filled with unique art-inspired items. Whether you’re an art lover or a casual visitor, this museum is a Chicago highlight and a must-see attraction downtown. Spent around three hours there but could spend the whole day if we don't have other plans.

One of the best art museums I’ve ever been to. The building and location was great, how the galleries were entering through each other was really interesting. Pro-tip: use their guide! It felt more than amazing to see a lot of Monet’s painting of one collection next to each other. And seeing Van Gogh’s brush stroke felt really special. My favorite artists that had their famous artworks in this museum were: Edward Hopper - Van Gogh - Monet - George Surat- Paul Cézanne - Whistler - Hammershoi Also, their lighting was really good. Their art shop was amazing! I bought beautiful postcards for 1.5 $ and a lot of fun items from different artists. I highly recommend visiting this museum if you’re in Chicago, and setting at least 3 hours of free time to enjoy with no stress and rush.

My Visit to the Art Institute of Chicago My visit to the Art Institute of Chicago was one of the highlights of my trip. It’s not just a museum — it’s a journey through centuries of global art and culture. The building itself is grand and beautifully designed, right next to Millennium Park, making it easy to find and explore. Inside, the collection is breathtaking — from American classics like Grant Wood’s “American Gothic” and Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, to masterpieces by Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, Picasso, and Rembrandt. Each gallery felt like stepping into a different era and part of the world. The Modern Wing was a personal favorite, showcasing stunning contemporary works in a bright, open space. The Impressionist collection is one of the best I’ve ever seen, with vivid colors and incredible detail that make you feel part of the painting. The museum staff were friendly and helpful, and the layout was easy to navigate even though the collection is vast. I also enjoyed a relaxing break at the Museum Café, overlooking the park. 📍 Tips for Visitors: • Book tickets online to save time. • Plan at least 2–3 hours (or more!) — there’s so much to see. • Audio guides and maps are very helpful for first-time visitors. • Don’t miss the gift shop for unique art-themed souvenirs. Overall, the Art Institute of Chicago is a world-class museum that beautifully captures the power of creativity and history. A must-visit for anyone coming to Chicago! 🖼️✨

We came here on a Bank of America sponsored day and luckily we have BOA accounts and we're let in for free! There's so much iconic art here. And it truly is a massive space - I tried to speed run the whole museum in 2 hours and only got through ~85% of it. Really appreciated all the curated works and how they organized each room/section, and their exhibits were also very special.

During my last trip to Chicago I got the CityPass and visited this enormous museum on a Monday during summer. If you like to appreciate art this is your museum, it has lots of sculptures, paintings, photography, textiles, weapons armor, among others... from different cultures during impressionism and post-impressionism. If you have a tight schedule I recommend you to plan which pieces of art you want to see before visiting the museum, check the map, use the app. If you intend to cover all the museum in detail it would be almost impossible to do it in one day.

A Must-Visit for History & Art Lovers! This art museum beautifully showcases the history and cultures of various countries and ancient civilizations. The exhibits are thoughtfully arranged, and the ambience truly immerses you in the past. Each section is rich with historical references, making it a great place for anyone interested in literature, heritage, and art. The museum is well-maintained and organized, which enhances the overall experience. One of the most inspiring highlights here is the section dedicated to Swami Vivekananda’s historic speech, which adds a spiritual and motivational touch to the experience. It’s truly moving to stand in a place that reflects his message of unity, peace, and cultural pride. Do note that weekends can get a bit crowded, so visiting on a weekday is ideal if you prefer a quieter atmosphere. Overall, a wonderful place to learn, explore, and appreciate world cultures.

I visited here at 10 AM with a member who is a resident of Chicago. Members can visit early from 10 AM to 11 AM. If you have a friend or a family member who lives in Chicago and is a member, that is a great experience to learn what they like at the museum! There was a temporary exhibit at the museum for the drawing and prints room. I saw an Edward Munch lithograph of The Scream painting. I would recommend buying a ticket in advance and keeping the printout of your ticket or if you have it on your phone. They do require to see your ticket again to re-enter the museum if you go to the gift shop. I bought postcards to send to my family and will be writing out the postcards this afternoon. They also have nice insulated bags at the museum shop that you can use on your trip. There is an abundance of natural light in the lobby and many of the galleries. The only thing I have against this museum is that they charge for admission. I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and our Minneapolis Institute of Art does not charge for admission for any patrons.

Cloud Gate, also known as "The Bean," is a renowned outdoor sculpture in Chicago that attracts both locals and tourists. Created by Anish Kapoor, this metallic structure is made of 168 welded stainless steel plates and stands at 33 feet tall. Its reflective surface offers unique views of the surrounding cityscape, making it a hotspot for photography enthusiasts. The sculpture's warped reflections create an illusion akin to a fun house mirror, providing an excellent backdrop for artistic photoshoots.
Visiting The Bean at Millennium Park is an absolute must when in Chicago! The iconic Cloud Gate sculpture is even more stunning in person—the reflective surface perfectly captures the city skyline, surrounding park, and visitors, making it one of the most unique photo spots in the world. Walking around and under it gives you amazing perspectives, and it’s fun to see the creative reflections from every angle. Millennium Park itself is beautifully designed, with wide open spaces, gardens, fountains, and plenty of spots to relax while enjoying the city atmosphere. The Crown Fountain with its digital faces and playful water features is especially fun for kids. The park is always lively, often hosting free concerts, events, and seasonal activities, making it a hub of culture and community right in the heart of downtown. The combination of The Bean and Millennium Park showcases Chicago’s artistic spirit and welcoming vibe. Whether you’re here for photos, a casual stroll, or simply to enjoy the architecture and nature, it’s a spot that leaves lasting memories. A visit to Chicago isn’t complete without experiencing this iconic landmark!

Cloud Gate, often called “The Bean,” is one of Chicago’s most iconic landmarks and a must-see spot in Millennium Park. Seeing it in person is even more impressive than in photos. The smooth, mirror-like surface perfectly reflects the city skyline, the clouds, and the people walking around it, creating a fascinating and ever-changing piece of art. It’s amazing how something so simple in shape can be so captivating. Early mornings are peaceful and great for photos without crowds, while evenings bring a lively energy with lights reflecting off its surface. The area around Cloud Gate is clean and well maintained, surrounded by trees, fountains, and open spaces where you can sit and relax. It’s also close to other attractions like the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and the Art Institute of Chicago. Whether you’re visiting for sightseeing, photography, or just to enjoy the city’s atmosphere, Cloud Gate captures the spirit of Chicago perfectly — modern, creative, and full of life. Definitely one of those places you’ll want to visit again every time you’re in the city.

✨ My Visit to Cloud Gate (The Bean), Chicago Cloud Gate, popularly known as The Bean, is one of Chicago’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit in Millennium Park. Its smooth, reflective surface beautifully mirrors the city skyline, the sky, and visitors themselves, creating endless photo opportunities. Walking around and under the sculpture is mesmerizing — the reflections shift with every angle, and you can see yourself interacting with the city in a unique way. It’s especially stunning during sunrise or sunset when the light casts magical reflections on its polished surface. The area around Cloud Gate is lively, with street performers, tourists, and locals enjoying the park. Nearby, you can also explore the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and Crown Fountain, making the visit even more enjoyable. 📍 Tips for Visitors: • Best time for photos: early morning to avoid crowds or during golden hour for dramatic lighting. • Free entry and accessible for all. • Try taking photos from multiple angles — underneath, side reflections, and with the skyline in the background. Overall, Cloud Gate is not just a sculpture — it’s an interactive art experience that perfectly captures the spirit of Chicago. A must-see for first-time visitors! 🏙️

Visiting Cloud Gate at night is an unforgettable experience. The polished stainless steel surface mirrors the Chicago skyline and city lights in a way that feels almost magical. Standing beneath “The Bean,” you can see the reflections curve and blend, creating a surreal version of the city around you. Located in Millennium Park, it’s one of Chicago’s most iconic landmarks and a must-see for any visitor. The area is beautifully lit at night and far less crowded than during the day, which makes it perfect for quiet photos or just taking in the view. The reflections of the skyline, the park lights, and even the stars above make Cloud Gate a stunning piece of art that connects you to the city’s energy and beauty in a truly unique way.

The Bean as it's locally known as is a cool sculpture in a nice park. Definitely one of the more unique things in town. As others have mentioned, I'd advise going early or at least before shops open as it'll be quieter. We also noticed it was quieter when it snowed so keep that in mind if you want to explore Chicago in the snow

I showed pictures to my two boys of "The Bean" in Chicago, IL and they thought it was so cool. I thought I would surprise them with a trip to Chicago last Saturday and this was one of the first things we did. Took lots of pictures with "The Bean" or Cloud Gate. We were all sure to touch it and enjoy the purpose of it. For some reason, I feel like it was moved within the past decade and I also remember it being smaller. Weird... Overall, my boys were very excited to see it and touch it. Thanks Chicago, IL.

I mean. You have to go see it. The “Bean” or Cloud Gate at Millennium Park is absolutely worth a visit during your trip to Chicago. It’s great for photos and honestly just a remarkable spectacle of design. Both times I’ve visited it’s been populated but there hasn’t been any difficulty getting right up close to the structure to take photos. It doesn’t require tickets and there are no lines. Check it out!

It was truly surreal to be at this location after seeing it online for a long time. It was packed with tourists and parking was hectic. It was beautiful to observe the cityscape on the bean. It’s also well maintained and a good city attraction.

Millennium Park, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, is a 24.5-acre modern park that has been recognized as a top attraction in the Midwest. It features iconic sites such as the famous Cloud Gate sculpture, also known as The Bean, and the interactive Crown Fountain. Visitors can enjoy free concerts and movie screenings at the Frank Gehry-designed Pritzker Pavilion during summer. Definitely a very popular place to visit while in Chicago! Beautiful park with mature trees, areas to walk, see, and explore. The Bean is beautiful and very popular, lots of tourists. You can observe the different architecture of the buildings from different places in the park. I had a great experience overall☺️

🌳 My Visit to Millennium Park, Chicago My visit to Millennium Park was an unforgettable experience and one of the best highlights of Chicago. Located right in the heart of downtown, this beautiful urban park perfectly blends art, architecture, and nature — making it a must-visit spot for both tourists and locals. The first thing that caught my eye was the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture, famously known as “The Bean.” Its mirrored surface beautifully reflects the Chicago skyline and is a fantastic place for photos — especially in the morning or around sunset. I also loved walking through the Crown Fountain, with its interactive digital faces and shallow water area — a fun place to relax, especially for families and children. The Jay Pritzker Pavilion, designed by Frank Gehry, is another architectural masterpiece where you can enjoy free concerts and events during summer. The park’s landscaping is stunning, especially at the Lurie Garden, which offers peaceful walking paths and colorful flowers amidst the city’s tall buildings. 📍 Tips for Visitors: • Best visited during the morning or evening for great lighting and fewer crowds. • Free entry, and most attractions are within walking distance. • Combine your visit with the nearby Art Institute of Chicago and Maggie Daley Park. Overall, Millennium Park is a beautiful symbol of modern Chicago — vibrant, artistic, and full of life. A perfect spot to relax, take photos, and enjoy the city’s creative energy. 🌆✨

Kinda a must see if in Chicago and if you catch it in early morning you could definitely get some great shots of the Bean and the City Scapes it provides. Very popular attraction with large crowds coming and going all day and into the evening. We had limited time while in town and was able to walk from our hotel to visit. Spent about and hour getting photos and watching the crowds.

Millennium Park is one of the most beautiful and well-maintained parks I’ve ever visited. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxing, with people of all ages enjoying the open spaces. The Cloud Gate sculpture—often called “The Bean”—is even more impressive in person, especially when it reflects the city skyline and the clouds above. The park is always clean, and there are plenty of benches and shaded areas for resting. During the summer, the fountain area becomes a favorite spot for families and kids to cool off, while in winter, the ice-skating rink brings a completely different charm. It’s also conveniently connected to other attractions like the Art Institute and Michigan Avenue, making it easy to spend an entire afternoon here. Whether you’re taking photos, jogging, or just sitting with a coffee watching the city move, Millennium Park offers a perfect balance of art, nature, and architecture. Definitely a must-visit spot in Chicago!

Millennium Park was one of my go-to spots while visiting Chicago, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! It's such a well-known park especially for "The Bean" and you can instantly see why. Everyone is taking pictures, smiling, and just enjoying the atmosphere. The area is clean, vibrant, and surrounded by Chicago's incredible skyline, which makes every photo look like a postcard. Whether you're there to relax, people-watch, or just take in the energy of the city, Millennium Park delivers. It's one of those places that truly captures the spirit of Chicago lively, artistic, and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town!

🌳 Review: Millennium Park, Chicago The Millennium Park in Chicago is an artistic and refreshing public space that perfectly combines modern architecture, creativity, and relaxation. It is one of the city’s must-visit attractions and a place where people can truly enjoy both nature and art together. The highlight for me was the digital fountain (Crown Fountain) — a tall glass structure displaying the image of a person whose face moves naturally, and water flows gently from the mouth as if it were alive. The movement of the images and the reflection of light and water create a mesmerizing and peaceful scene, especially when viewed up close. Equally impressive is the Cloud Gate, popularly known as “The Bean.” When you walk inside the sculpture and look upward, it gives a feeling of infinite reflections and depth, showing the sky, people, and surroundings in a spectacular, mirrored view. It’s both playful and thought-provoking — a wonderful example of modern art blending with science and design. Overall, Millennium Park is a fantastic place to spend time with friends or family, take photographs, or simply sit and enjoy the artistic energy of Chicago. The reflections, lights, and lively atmosphere make it one of the city’s most memorable experiences.

Loved spending time at Millennium Park! Super clean, vibrant, and full of life. The Bean is iconic, but the gardens and fountains make it even more special. Great place to chill and people-watch!

Beautiful moments spent here. I would recommend to visit this public park if visiting downtown Chicago. It is a tourist attraction. There were a lot of people here, especially around the Bean, The fountain area is so nice where the faces change on the structures. It is a nice area to walk around and spend some beautiful times with love ones. Admission is free, that helps the area being packed up with people from all around the world.

Sights & Landmarks
The Chicago Botanic Garden spans over 385 acres and showcases millions of plants and flowers in various settings across 26 different gardens. Among these gardens are the Malott Japanese Garden, Evening Island, and Grunsfeld Children's garden. Visitors can explore the beautiful orchid exhibit called The Orchid Show Untamed that features different orchids and plants arranged thoughtfully in several rooms with varying temperatures and designs. Guides are available to answer questions while visitors can take advantage of many photo opportunities.
The Chicago Botanic Garden is truly one of the best spots in the area if you love nature, beauty, and a peaceful escape from the city. Every corner of the garden feels carefully designed and well taken care of. The bonsai collection is absolutely fascinating—I could have spent an hour there just admiring the incredible detail and variety. The Japanese Garden is another highlight; it’s so calm and thoughtfully laid out, with winding paths, bridges, and views that make you want to slow down and take everything in. There’s a lot more beyond those highlights too. Each section feels like its own little world, from wide open flower beds to quiet wooded trails. You can easily spend half a day here and still feel like you haven’t seen it all. It’s also a wonderful place for photography or just sitting on a bench and enjoying the view. The only downside is the logistics if you don’t have a membership. Parking can back up with long lines to get in, and the ticket line can move slowly on busy days. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning your visit—arriving early definitely helps. Once you’re inside, though, the wait feels completely worth it. Overall, the gardens are a gem in the Chicago area, perfect whether you’re going alone, with family, or bringing out-of-town visitors. It’s one of those places that changes beautifully with the seasons, so every visit feels different. I’d highly recommend getting a membership if you plan to go more than once—it makes entry much smoother and is absolutely worth it.

What a beautiful place! I was visiting Chicago to spend some time with a very dear friend and I wanted to take her somewhere to enjoy the summer before it was over, this garden was thirty minutes away from her apartment and wow! What a dream! We spent at least two hours walking around the gardens and seeing all the beauty and trying to take everything in. There were so many sections with different plants and they were all arranged so beautifully! I could spend days walking around and enjoying the natural beauty and all the hard work that the employees put in! I cannot wait to come back again!

Went here with a girl friend of mine for the lightscape show. Parking was prepaid. The parking was not far away from the gate. the 1.3 mile trail route was well planned. The lights were a bit underwhelming. The background music beat the lights for sure. Very festive. Not very packed. Not so much interactions for the kids though. Shout out to their gift shop. Many delicately designed artworks, sovorneirs, and toys. Loved the magnet I got. Really cute and delicate. Overall I enjoyed it with my friend.

Best botanic garden ever!! Sits on 7 small lakes with incredible and diverse gardens. My personal favorite was the agricultural gardens- so gorgeous and the food is donated to families in need. We also did the Night of 1000 Jackolanters which was crowded but the artists were so talented and the trail was the perfect length. After our first visit we became members and we love going back. Cannot recommend more highly!!

This is the most beautiful Botanic Garden I have ever been to! When in town I love to come here with friends or by myself for a scenic walk and smell fresh flowers. At night you can see the most beautiful sunsets ever! The gate entrance closes usually at 6pm but you can come in 5 minutes before and stay until the dark. Lovely place !

Loved our visit to the Chicago Botanic Garden! Such a beautiful, peaceful place — it really feels like an escape into nature. Everything is so well-maintained and calming to walk through. The train garden was the absolute highlight for us! Our toddler was obsessed — we ended up sitting there for almost an hour just watching the trains go by. It’s so cute and detailed, definitely a must-see if you’re visiting with kids. Overall, a wonderful experience for both adults and kids. Perfect place to spend a relaxing day surrounded by nature.

Visited Sunday, October 19: I have been here before during the Christmas season. I highly recommend. This time I visited during the 1000 Pumpkin Carvings. It was awesome. There were varying themes from classic cartoons like Snoopy, sports theme, horror theme, animals, etc. The pumpkins were not fully carved. It was more like etching. Enough to create the image and visible with a light. Glowing phenomenon. I could've taken pictures of each and every one of them. The attention to detail was incredible and amazing. There were carvers present in between themes. The only minor issue is there were areas that would bottle necks. There would be crowds of people, then they would spread out. Ebb and flow. In addition, in between exhibits, there are food and beverage offerings for sale. You may have missed this event for the year, but I highly recommend checking out next year, it definitely puts you in the spirit of Halloween!

Highly recommend - just attended Lightscape 11/20/25 and it is an absolute must ✨! Truly fun for everyone ages from 13 through 71 in our group! It was about 48° when we went yesterday night, but it was beautiful (bundled up) and well worth the ticket/parking price! We were blessed to have the opportunity to go and celebrate my nephew and my dad's birthday, as well as my parents send-off to Mexico for the winter ❄️ ▶️ ☀️. We are a big family but everyone was kind and jolly to our 10+ group 😅. I would recommend stopping by the first tent for Hot Chocolate, the cups looked large and with all the toppings up top... We were looking for the restaurant, but ended up at the tent near the lake with empanadas and the s'mores kits... Although, not a foodie's five star choice, I highly recommend the Margherita Pizza, the Bavarian Pretzel with cheese 🥨🤤 (a little on the oily side but was great for me), the hot Apple Cider, and the Sweet Potato cup. However, I was not a fan of their Decadent Hot Chocolate (I didn't see it had peppermint 🙈), the Time of Season (very heavy ice), coffee was a bit cold, and sadly most of all I would highly steer away from the Empanadas 🥺. I'm Hispanic and have had from sweet Mexican to savoury Spanish ones, but these were nothing in between 😞, both Veggie and Chicken were just overwhelmed by the amount of feta or Gouda or some type of bold cheese (not melty milder mozzarella or Oaxaca/Chihuahua type of cheeses). Our family loves food and 10/11 of us didn't like them 🙈. However, on the HUGE plus side I lost a diamond stud earring from my first wedding anniversary 😭 and didn't realize it until I got home late at night. I was devastated and went back in the morning to try to find it. Everyone from the staff to fellow walkers were super nice about letting me retrace my steps and, thanks be to God 🙏❤️, finding it! Precisely, wedged in the floor by the food tent area 🥹🙆🙌💎. I am so happy and grateful they let me search for about two hours and just as I was losing hope I found my needle in a haystack (aka the beautiful grounds Chicago Botanic Garden) 🌲🌳🍁💠🌹🍂🍃🌿. Thank you for an overall well rounded great experience! 🙏💯

Water & Amusement Parks
Six Flags Great America is a vast amusement park offering over 100 rides and attractions, including numerous roller coasters. The park caters to visitors of all ages and preferences, featuring thrill rides like heart-pounding roller coasters, free fall experiences, and spinning attractions. Families can enjoy gentler options such as tea cup rides and water log adventures.
This was my first time visiting the park in at least 20 years but as soon as I walked in I felt the nostalgia and all of the memories of those prior visits when my mom would take my brothers and I. This was my first time taking my own kids so I was super excited to create some new memories. The park was smaller than I remembered, but that turned out to be a good thing. Our hotel was directly across the street so we were able to get there almost right at opening time. We were able to ride all of the coasters that we wanted to, aside from the 2 that were closed. I mentioned the size of the park because we're used to going to Cedar Point, which is larger than Great America, which means more area to cover, which means faster fatigue. At Great America, I felt comfortable walking around the park all day and the rides were placed in a manner that seemed like you can get to the other side of the park in a few minutes. We went on a Saturday in July and the wait times were reasonable. The longest wait time for the most popular rides were listed as 60 minutes on the app, but it wasn't always accurate. We ordered all of our tickets, extras, and parking ahead of time through the website and the app. If you can, spring for the unlimited dining pass. Generally, two people can split a meal or snack every 90 minutes with drink refills every 15 minutes. We ate good and stayed hydrated. I definitely recommend that option. I had a wonderful time and if you plan it out properly, you will too. I look forward to my next visit.

Great time with family and new friends! I didn't stay all day or go on all the rides, but I enjoyed my time walking around, spending time with family and was pretty surprised that there weren't more people when I was there... 😁👍 It was pretty clean and brought back some good memories from when I was younger and enjoying the park that's in California. Might have to take my son to the Florida location in the near future.

I’ve been to a lot of fall and Halloween events, but this place really knows how to put on a show. From the second you walk through the gates, the atmosphere grabs you — fog rolling across the walkways, creepy music echoing through the park, and costumed scare actors lurking in just the right spots to make you jump when you least expect it. The haunted houses were well-designed and full of great special effects. Each one had its own personality — from eerie asylum vibes to full-blown zombie chaos. The makeup and costumes on the actors were impressive; you can tell the staff puts serious effort into making each scene believable and spine-tingling. Even walking around between rides, the themed zones kept the energy high. There’s something thrilling about riding a roller coaster at night with flashing lights and the sound of screams in the background! I also appreciated that the event felt organized despite the huge crowds. The park staff kept things moving, and most of the lines moved faster than expected for a big Halloween weekend. Security was visible but friendly, and I noticed plenty of sanitation and rest areas, which made a long night more enjoyable. That said, the food and drink prices were outrageous .We’re talking $15+ for a burger and fries, $6-$8 for bottled water or soda, and desserts that cost almost as much as a meal. I completely understand that theme parks mark up their food, but this felt excessive even by those standards. My advice: grab a meal before you go or plan for a splurge if you want to snack inside. Still, overall, Fright Fest is a must-see if you love Halloween thrills. The park goes all-in with its decorations, live shows, and creepy characters. Between the haunted mazes, the night rides, and the electric atmosphere, it’s worth the trip — just pack your own food and water. 🎃 9/10 for scares

Great park with GREAT coasters. All employees were super nice and friendly! Ticket prices are not bad, but food & drinks are a bit stiff on cost. Worth it. Some of the best coasters I've rode! My family had a blast!!!

We had a great time at Six Flags Great America! There are so many fun rides and the park has a lot to offer for all ages. It was an exciting day and we really enjoyed the energy and atmosphere. But there were a few downsides. The wait times for rides were really long, which made it hard to enjoy more of the park. Also, some rides require extra payment inside, which we didn’t expect after buying tickets. It would be even better if they had street shows or entertainment for people who aren’t into rides—it would help pass the time and keep the fun going for everyone. Still, it’s a fun place for families and thrill-seekers. Just go early and be ready to wait a bit!
MARYAM — Google review
We bought the season pass as we live an hour away from this place. Buying seasonal pass was the best decision because we could go all weekends and special days. Absolutely love their Halloween decorations and fright fest events. However, the fright fest rides/haunted house experience are an additional cost. You need to get a separate ticket even though you have seasonal pass or park fee. Worth visiting.

Dropped my son off for move-in day for his Freshman Year. The other young men in his form were waiting outside when we got there, they already knew our names, and proceeded to grab everything out of the car and get it up to his room. We didn't have to do anything. All the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Although I am nervous for my son, they definitely made me and his mother feel much better-knowing that he is in good hands. So far, 5 stars. Go Irish!

A very beautiful Campus. Well maintained as it is makes it easy to see why it's such a popular choice for a great education. I would give a full five just for the beauty but as I have never been a student I can't fairly say how I'd feel having never experienced attending. As a visitor I truly enjoyed the architectural beauty and the history of the famed campus. I recommended this as a great free must see in the area!

Absolutely beautiful campus. I didn't study there, so, cannot talk for the quality of education but the place is gorgeous. I love taking walks there, I love roaming around the campus. I love the lakes, swans, and ducks as well! The landscaping is amazing. I like coming here to light a candle for my grandma. 🕯 I think I'd be absolutely happy to go to this school as a college student!

This is beautiful venue. It's a smaller venue which makes every seat a good seat. We were stage left 12 rows back. There are not balcony seats. The sound is spectacular. It's about a 2 hour drive for me but it was totally worth it and I will be going again

I've heard other shows are great, but the Salute to the Stars, was pretty bad. We thought it was amateur. Three aging impersonaters, with little stage presence, stumbling through lyrics. The George Strait impersonater couldn't pretend to strum the guitar. Their "Reba" had a good voice on her own, but didn't sound like Reba. Elvis couldn't reach his notes, and laughed when he flubbed the lyrics on songs he's likely sang 1000 times. We deserved better. Disappointed we spent $30 per ticket AND the time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Blue Gate Theater is such an impressive venue! The walls lined with signed guitars from past artists are worth checking out on their own. Saw the Amish themed show, the Rise and Fall of Miss Fanny's biscuits musical, it was very good. Everyone had excellent voices. We really enjoy the show. There's a lot of comfortable seating Well worth the $40 tickets. Not fancy but really good!
Kathleen R — Google review
The band had a great sound. The theater was the perfect size, not too small, not too big. The seats were comfortable. This was a fun concert! I will definitely return.
Shari M — Google review
The atmosphere is awesome, the auditorium is small so there really isn't a terrible seat (some are obviously better)- but it's not like a giant stadium or something. Pay attention to your tickets for the address, Google maps wants to take you to the Blue Gate Restaurant but that is not the Theater venue- it's a few blocks away.

Ohhh this place was awesome, we had the buffet, you can get the same food in the restaurant. The Amish cook wonderful tasting foods. If you're in shipschewanna,Indiana drop in for a great time and good food. I almost forgot you can get a meal and show ,they have shows pretty regularly.

The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is a sprawling wildlife haven with over 1,000 animals from around the globe. Visitors can embark on an adventure through various themed areas such as African Journey, Australian Adventure, and Indonesian Rainforest. The zoo offers interactive experiences like hand-feeding giraffes and observing playful capuchin monkeys at Monkey Island. Guests can also witness feeding frenzies at Sea Lion Beach and enjoy watching penguins in their pool.
A great zoo with lots to do along with seeing animals! Ropes course, train ride, river ride, and more which kids loved them all. First time I saw a ropes course with a toddler sized level which my 3.5 year old loved. It's also nice they don't charge for the adult to go with the smaller children that require supervision. We were there 11:30a-5p and still didn't get to see and do it all so definitely an all day adventure. As others have noted, go to the African area first to feed the giraffes before they get full for the day. We did not follow that advice and didn't get there until the end of the day and they weren't interested in coming over. Still beautiful to look at 😊 Buying admission tickets online in advance gets a small discount and getting the all day unlimited ride wristband is worth it if planning to do most or all of the rides.

Best Zoo, Best Caretakers and Best Family W environment! So worth you visit - we buy the family pass and take my granddaughters often for the best time ever. Today we rode the log boats, the train and the carousel. We were there for 3 hours today and it was crazy how few people where there - it was like we had the entire zoo to ourselves at times. (Kids are back in school, it's a Wednesday...) So it wasn't nearly as busy as usual on weekends. We had an extra special time we we were not rushed feeling like others needed to see the animals etc...

Honestly this zoo was so amazing. It is gorgeous with super immersive enclosures and tons of green space. The staff were all extremely kind and informative. I could tell they genuinely cared about their work and the zoo itself. The animals all seemed to be very happy and we got to see so many goofy and wonderful creatures. My partner and I had a blast here and within 25 mins we were already talking about how great it was and said we would absolutely be back. There are lots of places to rest as well. I have back problems and need to sit every once in awhile and I never had problems finding a place to rest. With breaks and taking our time the whole zoo took us around 3 hours to explore. It was excellent and I can't wait to go back someday. ☺️

We came late November/last Fall weekend so the African side and many animals were understandably relocated indoors. Still, it was worth the visit (which lasted slightly less than 3 hours), and I like that there was less traffic. My favorite was the otters, they were absolutely curious and beautiful. Many other animals seem to be well taken care of as well, and the staff super friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this place if you happen to be by Fort Wayne.
Linh T — Google review
Prices are relatively high, but it is a great experience for people of all ages. Staff is very friendly and informative. There are also areas where you can interact with some of the animals directly, such as feeding the giraffes and grooming the goats. Highly recommend.

We were very lucky to see the preopening of the brand new light show this evening. It's great! So much holiday cheer for all age groups. You need to check this out! Driving in through the Blue Jacket holiday display sets the stage for a super experience.

1st time visiting, from Ohio. Was VERY ENJOYABLE! Loved the landscaping, lots of green lush vegetation, streams, small hills which were doable for us folks who have difficulty walking around larger zoos! Favorites for me were the Giraffe Feeding station, wide open areas of Savannah with the Zebra, Wildebeest, Ostrich, the Rainforest, and Stingray Bay experience. The "Sky Safari" lift, ZO&O Railroad, and Crocodile Creek Adventure Log ride were all well worth the extra money! All lasted a good amount of time compared with other zoos and VERY relaxing, much appreciated rest while viewing exhibits, nice lake, and beautiful autumn leaves changing! Amazing views from the Sky Safari lift!!!! People need to know it does not actually go near or over the animal enclosures, which the name sort of implies (I get why it shouldn't go directly over though). Very enjoyable! ALL animal of course were fascinating to watch. Habitats realistic! We got to see almost everything in 5 hours. The Alligator actually fascinated me the most, which is surprising since i don't pay much attention to them usually. It was right up front at the glass viewing window floating vertically so we could see just how large it was compared to US! The kids were standing there in awe! Loved the Red Pandas, Tigers, Monkeys, white Pelicans, and of course the new male lion, "Kiume" and his lioness "Ina". The wheel of scenarios next to their exhibit, showing how difficult it is to find and KEEP food was heart breaking but very educational!! There were 2 exhibits that made me feel a bit concerned for the animals. I'm no expert and maybe I wasn't seeing everything. First was the indoor Orangutan exhibit. Beautiful creatures sitting on the bare "trees" with no green vegetation and a cement floor. :-( Their natural habitats are rainforests, right? So I'd think they would be happier living in an area like your Rainforest exhibit! The adults looked very bored and "depressed". Hopefully their outdoor exhibit is better! My second concern was for the Serval. I only saw 1 in the enclosure, watching it a good 10 minutes just staying in one small area in front pacing back and forth, making a huffing sound-appearing like it was very stressed!! Was that because its mate wasn't around? Or was it smelling the Mongoose exhibit close by, frustrated it can't chase them? The enclosure itself didn't look large enough for Servals to stretch out and run! Is there a section the public isn't able to see? There were no zoo staff nearby to ask. I was gonna give a rating of "4" to the zoo because of these concerns but since all the other exhibits were so well done decided on "5". Also appreciated the Staff who were present being super friendly and helpful. VERY CLEAN EVERYWHERE as well! In the future would be nice if you offered a couple days a week with extended hours. When we had to leave at 5pm many of the animals were just starting to wake up and become active. Toledo zoo in Ohio, for ex, stays open until 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays, even in October. Overall, EXCELLENT, EDUCATIONAL, and FUN EXPERIENCE! Highly recommend for ALL ages!!! Thank you!

Holland State Park - Macatawa Campground

Campground
Outdoor Activities
Holland State Park - Macatawa Campground offers a picturesque beachfront setting with paved bike trails, sunset views, and convenient concessions. Visitors can explore the iconic Big Red lighthouse and indulge in dining experiences at nearby Saugatuck. The campground provides spacious sites with amenities like fire rings and picnic tables, along with modern restroom and shower facilities. While the lighthouse may be small, the stunning sandy beach, snack shack offerings, and expansive parking make it a worthwhile visit.
This was our first time staying at the beach campground at Holland State Park. We usually book at the other campground, but decided to try something new — and we’re so glad we did! The location is perfect, just a short walk to the beach, which makes it super easy to catch a sunset or spend the day by the water. The campground itself has a really nice vibe, and the facilities were spotless — probably some of the cleanest bathrooms and showers we’ve seen at a state park. It’s definitely a great spot if you want to be close to the beach while still enjoying the camping experience. We’ll definitely be back!
Dan P — Google review
Holland State Park is a decent spot if you’re looking for a quick beach outing. The view of the iconic Big Red lighthouse and the sunset over Lake Michigan are definitely worth seeing. However, the park gets very crowded, especially on weekends, making parking and finding a quiet spot on the beach difficult. Facilities like restrooms and concessions could be maintained better, and sometimes the cleanliness of the beach is hit-or-miss. Overall, it’s nice for a visit, but not the most relaxing experience if you’re hoping for peace and space.
Prashant D — Google review
The bathrooms and showers were filthy. The bathrooms stunk and they were not kept up. We were here in 2024 and thought they were great, but no longer. The plastic shower benches that were gray in color were almost black as they weren’t washed all season. I don’t know what was smeared on wall. Green mold, lots of spiders and webs. They were really gross. Come on folks, you can do better.
Cynde M — Google review
Website is deceptive. On the official website it says that it has a dog beach, and that it is pet friendly. When I arrived, however I found out that their signs all the way across the beach saying no animals and their so-called “dog beach.” is nothing more than a spot with sand with no apparent water involved. They do have a bathroom with flushing toilets that is right by the beach, which is nice however, it has these stalls that have benches that would seem to be a changing type area only there’s no curtains or doors or anything on them for any sort of privacy. In the same building as the bathrooms they do have a little gift shop place that offers some limited food and drink options. I got the soft serve chocolate ice cream, single scoop and let me tell you they don’t give you very much for what they charge for it. One thing that was nice though is that they do have I think there was two spots with those beach sand walk runners that make it much easier to get further down on the beach. I used Google maps to direct me to the beach and instead it directed me to the campground parking. I found that if I didn’t turn into the campground parking, I just kept driving eventually I did get to the beach.

This was our first visit to Holland State Park, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. We stayed at the beach campground, where the campsites were generously sized and the utility hookups were well-maintained and easy to access. The bathhouse was impressively clean, well-lit, and conveniently located. One of the highlights was the stunning night sky — with the campground set away from the city lights of Holland, the darkness allows for incredible stargazing. We enjoyed breathtaking views of stars and planets that made the evenings truly memorable. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and we’re already looking forward to our next stay.
Jim S — Google review
We booked a cabin for 2 nights at Holland state park. It was clean and quiet. The cabin was heated and had a nice view of the lake. The camp grounds were beautiful, altho the water was winterized since we got there in late fall we had a great time hiking the sand dunes and hills. We enjoyed our quiet nights swapping stories and cooking meals over our fire. This definitely is a great spot.

Why google has this as a hotel, First off this is a campground! Nice campground, very clean well maintained. We came up for wedding only got to stay a couple nights. We got sites next to friends had a great time. Only issue i had was tight in some areas for large fifth wheel good thing it wasn't full..lol we'd stay here again you're in walking distance from lake michigan.

Since it was Labor Day, the park was very crowded to say thw least. But the beach is great overlooking the Lake Michigan. Crystal clear water is enchanting to just sit and watch. One can take nice walk on the pier that extends well into the water. Lots of boat activities were taking place. Excellent location to spend the day!

Michigan's Adventure

Mentioned on

Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Michigan's Adventure is a local amusement park that offers a wooden roller coaster, seasonal water park, and various other rides. However, the size of the park and the number of rides available may be disappointing for some visitors. The food stands were not set up during a weekend visit, and many of the rides are old. As an amusement park related to Cedar Point, it was expected to have more and newer rides.
A charming smaller amusement park, with friendly staff . I actually really enjoyed this park . Yes it's much smaller than many , but it is very nice and has a decent amount of rides. I'd say the best one is Shivering Timbers, which was surprisingly smooth overall with a few rough spots ( I expected it to be much much rougher) . The water park also looked to be really good, though I only walked in there and looked around. Overall though if you're in the area I'd definitely say check this park out ! Only real negative I can say about my visit was that thunder hawk was down the entire day unfortunately. I had really hoped to get a ride on it , maybe sometime in the future!
J — Google review
A smaller family friendly theme park with a nice water park inside. If you're looking for dozens of crazy coasters this isn't the place, but if you can get by with a couple, want a water park, or have younger children this is a great spot. We went in a nice day in the middle of the week shortly after opening. The line to get in took less than five minutes and we walked right on to the first few rides. By mid day it was a little busier, but certainly not crowded. Only waited in one line over fifteen minutes including water slides.
Chris F — Google review
My kids had a blast here, the ticket prices are fair and there is tons to do here. They have a large variety of rides for all ages. They are even chubby-friendly as my hubby was able to ride everything with ease! The park is clean and well-maintained, and the staff was mostly friendly. Some staff had attitudes, but most were nice. The food prices are OUTRAGEOUS! The burger and fries were 16 bucks and it was a frozen over-salted patty. Was gross. That was the only downside. The drink cups are so worth it! Pays for itself. I will be back a million more times its well worth the money. Just pack a lunch!
Mary R — Google review
Feelings of nostalgia as you see some classic rides mixed in with the new. We had a great time at both the water and amusement park. Affordable and perfectly sized for a day full of fun all ages can appreciate. Over 8 water slides to match all thrill levels! I would not purchase the food plan, it was a waste and did not include beverages. Honestly, if you eat breakfast before hand, you will only eat once around mid-day because you are captivated and having such a wonderful time. You truly only want a cold beverage or ice cream.
Shameka B — Google review
Had a lot of fun at the park! Shivering Timbers is such a fun ride! We spent two days at the park and overall had a great time! The good: -Park is clean, does need a little maintenance such as fence painting. -Shivering Timbers, Wolverine Wildcat, Sea Dragon, Logrun were all very fun! -Beer Garden was a nice spot to relax at both the water park and amusement park! -Lines are not super long! Except for Wild Mouse. (That one they need to figure out) -The train that takes you from one side of the park to the other! Super fun! -Season passes work here! Along with season drink pass! Huge win! The bad: -The water park smelled like poop. Legitimately spent most the day gagging because I kept getting smells of it. This was my biggest complaint of the entire park. -Could use a few new coasters. I know a lot of funding gets allocated toward Cedar Point, but this park is in desperate need of a few smoother coasters. -Food options! Not many great food options. We ended up spending $60 on a pizza there for all of us! Insane! Overall, I would rate the park 4/5! It's a great family park and love not having to wait 3 hours to go on a ride. Super fun two days were spent there!
Tiffany S — Google review
We had a great day at the park! The mobile app for the park was a life saver! It told you how to get to the rides you wanted to ride. If you were looking for food, it guided to there. It was very convenient and great to use. Having upgraded to the drink plan was handy! Anytime you were thirsty, just stopped at any one or the drink stations and get your beverage of choice! Looking forward to going back real soon!
Sheryl B — Google review
it's a fun and great place for family fun!! be prepared, no cash. i found this out the hard way. and holy cow, i remember when tickets used to be $25 to get in, for both parks. now, it's $25 for parking, $60 entry fee (just to get in, riding rides or not) and an extra $69 for the Fast Lane passes. just giving people a heads up on things that i didn't know. ♡ also a recommendation: ADD "fast pass" rides to the water park too! side note: Thunderhawk was down, super disappointing!
•Ashley• — Google review
We had such a great time at Michigan's Adventure! The kids love the wave pool, and we rode several rides, including the Shivering Timbers and the Mad Mouse. The park was clean, the staff were friendly, and the food was good for the theme park. It was a full day of fun during our Michigan vacation. This park has always been our go-to spot every time we visit the area, and it never disappoints. Highly recommend for families looking for both thrills and water fun!

The Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids is a unique and innovative museum that seamlessly blends natural beauty with fine art. The 30-acre Sculpture Garden features an impressive outdoor collection of sculptures by renowned artists, along with temporary exhibits. Visitors can also enjoy the Seasonal Light Experience, where the gardens are illuminated with captivating light displays for a magical evening stroll.
What a lovely place! We’ve been to many sculpture parks and gardens and this is one of the best! It’s laid out so well - you can walk (mostly flat) or take a narrated tram (for $8 fee). It was so clean and well-maintained. They were testing an on/off tram during our visit which was a nice option on this unseasonably warm fall day. We visited the sculpture park (great collection of art!), farmhouse area, Japanese Garden, waterfalls area and boardwalk. The children’s area looked like it would be really nice as did the tropical garden - saved for another visit if we’re in town again!

Absolutely beautiful. We are here for the autumn night on Tuesday, but have spent the day here too. We took the tram into the sculpture park area, not worth the price you pay for 1/2 hr ride when you can't see most of the sculptures! If you are here to see these amazing sculptures then skip the expensive tram ride. Plan on spending the day here, there is so much to see. If we lived in the area we would definitely get a membership. Looking forward to this evening. Music, lights and more. I'll add more pics later if I can. We were blessed with a beautiful fall day and evening. Beautiful evening, perfect weather.

We have been to several different gardens in different states and this place is in the top 3. It was very easy to get too. Had no problems with traffic getting to this location. The parking lot was easy to enter and plenty of spots near the main entrance. They have a kiosk or front desk to buy tickets. No line at either. We only pay for the tickets not parking or maybe the parking is included in the ticket price but I feel it was a great price. This place is extremely large and there is lots of ground to cover. You could easily spend the whole day here. They have a gift shop inside. They have a very large amount of unique sculptures. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. I cant say enough good things about this place. You have to see it for yourself. Highly recommend!

Spectacular! Stunning collection of sculptures! Incredible gallery space! Be sure and see the documentary film before you tour the garden. Great place for anyone!! So beautiful and the staff are the friendliest and best!! We were fortunate to see some wonderful special exhibits! Loved our lunch in the dining room! Great gift shop! So thrilled we got to see this amazing property! Thanks to David for a very informative tram ride around the property!

Recently I visited the Frederick Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids. It's truly a fascinating place. It has numerous indoor and outdoor gardens, including a children's garden, as well as a sculpture park. The highlight to me was the Japanese garden. It is absolutely lovely. There is also a cafe and a gift shop. The park requires a lot of walking but they do provide both a tram and a shuttle for those who can't handle all the walking. This is definitely a don't miss Park.

A well-maintained incredibly beautiful and relaxing 158-acre botanical garden, art museum, and outdoor sculpture park with walking trails throughout. Visiting is an adventure, similar to going to Disneyland, except more relaxing because you are surrounded my nature. There is also plenty of parking and you can easily spend a few hours exploring. Be sure also to see the gift shop before leaving.

Our family has loved coming to Meijer Gardens for over a decade now. Every season brings new displays and views all around the grounds. We have brought friends and family here from all around the country and it’s always a crowd pleaser. A must-see in the Grand Rapids area. Great for all ages in all seasons.

A Must-See Summer Destination! Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is nothing short of spectacular — especially in the summer. This place is a true gem in the Grand Rapids area and far exceeded all expectations. The gardens are incredibly well-designed, with something new and beautiful around every corner. From vibrant perennial displays to peaceful water features, it’s a sensory experience in every direction. The Japanese Garden, in particular, is a stunning oasis of calm — perfectly manicured and thoughtfully laid out, with traditional bridges, stone lanterns, and serene ponds that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a different world. But it’s not just about plants — the sculpture collection is world-class. You’ll find massive, dramatic pieces and delicate, contemplative works, all beautifully integrated into the landscape. There’s something really powerful about seeing modern art set against a natural backdrop. It makes you pause, think, and appreciate both the art and the environment it sits in. Whether you’re strolling through the butterfly house, wandering the trails, or sitting on a bench soaking in the views, you can easily spend an entire day here. It’s equally great for families, solo travelers, and art or nature lovers alike. If you’re anywhere near Grand Rapids — or even just passing through Michigan — this place is 100% worth a visit. Truly one of the most unique and inspiring gardens in the country.

The Toledo Zoo and Aquarium is a must-visit destination offering a wide range of experiences for animal lovers and families. With over 10,000 animals from 720 species, the zoo provides numerous hands-on opportunities such as a petting zoo, aquarium touch tanks, giraffe feed deck, daily animal feedings, and educational sessions with staff. The exhibits are designed to immerse visitors in the habitats and cultural history of each region.
Our kids did the rope course, which takes about an hour and a half and they absolutely loved it. They were up over animal enclosures and were so excited to tell us all about it when they got back. It’s a really nice zoo, the building you can eat lunch in is really cool, it has what look like cages, the kids thought that was pretty cool too. We got to see a baby elephant being trained to do things on queue, we have to see the moment elephant do some painting. The aquarium is really neat.
Laura — Google review
It's pretty good. But the viewing areas for most of the exhibits are limited. Combine that with rude people and you've gotta fight for position to see the animals. Lines for the train were long, just to buy tickets. And the animals you see during your ride are nothing to get excited about. Except for the 3 cheetahs. They were actually moving for a minute. Reptile House is closed until 2026. And the Zoo Passes are now restricted to the zoo they are bought from. We used to buy it every year and the discount for food and gift shop items were honored everywhere. Now, it's only at the zoo you bought it at. That kind of pissed me off. And $14.50 for a pretzel and cheese is ridiculous. Food prices are as bad a theme park. They don't allow coolers so be prepared to spend some serious money if you plan on staying for the day. But the kids had fun I guess.
Rob H — Google review
We visit during the week and head out early since mom likes renting the scooters instead of using her wheelchair. We have never had a problem not finding one but avoid busy weekends. Perks of homeschool! There are neverending lessons to learn while visiting the zoo and not just about the animals. We spent a day looking at all the jobs and working on optimizing the job algorithms to incorporate coding and possible future optimizations with AI. The only limit is your mind. There are plenty of animals and places to rest. We bring a backpack cooler and a water bladder backpack to stay hydrated and have plenty of snacks. There is a good variety of foods, and you can doordash a delivery if you prefer something else. Always a pleasant experience and we have yet to complete the entire zoo in one day on any visit. There is lots to see including plants, birds, insects and other creatures that have unofficially moves into the zoo! 😁

The Toledo Zoo is absolutely fantastic and one of our favorite places to visit! There’s so much to see and do, and every trip feels like a new adventure. The exhibits are beautifully designed and you can tell the animals are well cared for. We especially loved watching the playful otters🦦, strolling through the African Savanna🐫, and exploring the aquarium🐠. But the best parts of our visit? Riding the train 🚂and the carousel🎠—such fun for both kids and adults! And our most favorite experience of all was feeding the giraffes🦒. Getting that close to such gentle, incredible animals was unforgettable and definitely a highlight. The zoo is super family-friendly with clean facilities, great food options, and plenty of shaded spots to rest. The staff is friendly and helpful, and it’s easy to spend a full day here making memories. We absolutely love the Toledo Zoo and can’t wait to come back again soon!

I had such a wonderful time at the Toledo Zoo! From the moment I walked in, everything felt well-organized, clean, and welcoming. The variety of animals is incredible I loved seeing everything from playful otters to majestic elephants, and the habitats are beautifully designed to feel natural and comfortable for the animals. The zoo is easy to navigate, with plenty of spots to rest, grab a snack, and take in the scenery. Overall, the Toledo Zoo isn’t just a place to see animals; it’s an experience that blends conservation, education, and fun. I can’t wait to come back!

The Toledo Zoo is something truly fantastic. Not only is the zoo well kept and clean but the animals are clean and healthy and are extremely interactive not only with each other but also their environment and the workers. You can find a helping hand not only for information but directions anyway you turner because the Toledo Zoo is BIGGER then most zoo's. Food is a little high on the price but getting your yearly membership not only pays for itself and less than three visits but also with the discounted food and rides. I can keep going on and on there's more than enough fantastic things to say about the zoo with a constant updating social media letting their Zoo members know on enrichment days and special events that are being hosted so just get up and go.

The outdoor venue was ok. The seats felt cheap and wobbly. The floor isnt slanted, or if it is, very slightly. This means it is harder for everyone to see. The sound system was bassy and sounded quite good. The cost of concessions was well priced for a venue. The parking was good because of how many different parking areas they have there. Overall we probably wont be back unless it is someone we really want to see. Good seating is really important and I shouldn't have wished I got lawn instead of floor.

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay st the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort. The room was fantastic with a view of the fall colors. Room was very quiet we didnt hear other rooms or hall noise. Non Smoking, great diversity of food options. Slots were tight Enjoyed trying new Bingo games. Great place to getaway.

It's a good venue for gambling and staying but also for outdoor concerts. Always clean. Close enough to town if you want to do other things and there are other attractions nearby. The restaurants and bars within the casino are surprisingly good with good food drinks and fair prices. Easy travel on a main road. I recommend.

I went here for a conference and had a wonderful time. I was pleasantly surprised on day one with how nice the staff was (I was helped at the front desk by Noah). My room was really nice and had all the modern fixtures and technology. Loved the pillows! I am not a gambler so I didn’t play the slots at all, but I did enjoy the other features of the resorts (lots of bars and restaurant). I got room service one morning and it was speedy and affordable. The sports bar is fun and I liked the coffee shop as well. I don’t live anywhere near the resort, but if I did I would consider it for a fun weekend away!

Although the rooms and hotel are beautiful, the bed was like sleeping on concrete. My husband and I checked out at 2 am and drove home to sleep in our own bed. Thankfully the room was a free room offer so we weren’t out any money. We also frequent the casino and have never won more than a few hundred dollars.

Historical landmark
The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan is a sprawling 250-acre space that offers a comprehensive look at American life and innovation. The museum features an impressive collection of exhibits showcasing the ingenuity and impact of American inventors and visionaries. Visitors can explore iconic artifacts such as the Rosa Parks bus, JFK's limousine, and the world's most accurate replica of the Wright brothers' Flyer.
I'm from Chicago, home to some world class, and world famous museums. The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation and Greenfield Village is hands down the best museum I have been to in my life. We spent 3 full days there over two separate trips, and still haven't finished seeing it all!!! We'll be going back again in the spring to finish it up. The place can only be described as "incredible". An amazing, and eclectic collection of artifacts from American history that will grab your attention at every turn. Greenfield Village is largely a collection of buildings of historical significance that were disassembled where they originally stood across America, and painstakingly reassembled on the grounds of Greenfield. Simply amazing. I highly recommend buying a membership if you plan to attend more than one day. Also plan to see all giant screen movies (you won't be sorry) , and definitely go on the Rouge Factory Tour. It's AMAZING!!! OH YES, and take a MODEL T ride in Greenfield Village! Worth the wait!

It's been a long time since I been there. Was a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is a lot to take in. Not so many hands on stuff for kids tho. If you have a hard standing or walking a long time there are benches everywhere. Everything is very detailed and descriptive. I would go back in the futer. If you are considering this for a family trip or if you are coming in from out of state I highly recommend coming here and checking out it. Also if you want something like a novilty they have machines that make wax molds of cars etc.

A must-visit when you’re in Michigan! 🙌 This place showcases the incredible evolution of American innovation — from transportation to everyday design. 🚗🚂✨ You’ll find everything from cars, buses, and heavy machinery to beautifully crafted household objects that make you stop and say wow. A true journey through modern ingenuity and creativity!

I could have spent five or six hours here. There is so much going on from presidential cars to race cars, the bus Rosa Parks was on to the chair Lincoln was shot in. This is truly a museum of innovation, not just about Ford. If we would have had time I would have spent the time to go to the Ford Rouge plant that assembles Ford F-150s. That takes about two hours. Nearby you have the race car hall of fame. Outside of having a ton of information its just a very elegant building. Its classy enough to be an art museum and some of these pieces are definitely that. Its a must stop in Detroit.

recently visited the Henry Ford Museum with my kids, and it was an absolutely awesome experience from start to finish. There’s so much to see, learn, and explore — every exhibit captures a piece of history in a way that keeps both kids and adults engaged. Watching my children light up with excitement as they discovered new things made the trip even more special. The museum is clean, well-organized, and filled with fascinating displays that truly bring innovation and American history to life. It’s the kind of place where time flies because you’re constantly amazed at what’s around the next corner. I’ll definitely be returning soon with my wife and our other children so they can share this experience too. The Henry Ford Museum is a must-visit for families who love learning, discovery, and unforgettable moments together.

We absolutely love this place! There is something for everyone. They have the museum located indoors that has many great exhibits. Lots of hands on activities for kids. There’s also special events that come to the museum. In addition to the museum there’s the outside village (does require additional ticket) that you can walk around. I highly recommend getting a ride pass so you can ride all of the rides (train, carousel, model T) without worrying to buy additional tickets! Custard is a must!!
Maria R — Google review
Outside of the Smithsonian, I would say that this is the most important and comprehensive technology and transport museum in America. They simply have things that you won't see anywhere else, from the original Mustang prototype to the Rosa Parks bus to the last extant examples of numerous steam locomotives. The Dymaxion house is such a great "what could have been" story. I would definitely budget an entire day to see the museum and save Greenfield Village for the next day. You really need one day each to do both.

Amazing outlet mall!! Passing thru (NH resident here) brought my nephew to his 1st mall!! Got school clothes& shoes. Very impressed with the prices in multiple stores

While I was in the Detroit area, decided to visit this mall and was very pleasantly surprised. The mall has a large variety of different stores, many being discount outlets with good deals on their products. There was a large food court with a variety of restaurants and there are even some snack and food stores scattered throughout. Plenty of parking and very clean too. Seems to be a thriving mall and is great compared to others these days.

Wow!! This mall is very much thriving and packed full of great stores! This mall is what every mall in America should strive to be. The mall is very modern and architecturally fascinating inside, has a huge food court with a carousel, and the layout is very easy to follow along to see all the stores. We walked the entire mall and stopped into many stores, I dont think I saw any empty storefronts and if I did it wasn't many at all. Every mall store you expect to see is located here, and more! There were lots of stores I haven't heard of before and they were all very clean, bright, and modern. Nothing was run down here, way to go!! Highly recommend shopping here, especially since its full of outlet stores where deals can be had!

Great outlet mall, has the best stores very big and just out right amazing. Loved all the things to do for the family while still having amazing shopping options for everyone. Food choices were pretty good from what I can see but didn't eat there to give a true review. Will I go back, absolutely and live almost 4 hours away.

Great Lakes Crossing Outlets stores are not all bargains but you can definitely cash in on great deals. The food court was not good at least Popeye chicken was horrible and they didn't really speak English so they didn't honor their own coupon.

The first time I came to the DIA I was suprised to see they had a native American wing. Michigan is home to a few tribes. Was bummed to see nothing about the local tribes there. I asked a docent " you have so many local tribes one being the largest remaining tribe in the united states and there is no mention of them " is there some reason why? I know most museums repatriated a lot so injust said i think your really missing out on showcasing the art of the ojiibwe the rest of the annishinabeeg tribes. Some ofntheor art and embroidery is stunning. That was in 2023. 2025 im on public radio and I hear your opening an exhibit of a contemporary indigenous ojibwe artist? Wow. That's really cool im impressed. I love the DIA but now I really dig ya! Keep on getting better and giving me good reasons to come in. By the way their open sketch is way cool! Thank you DIA your one of a thousand reasons ill never move out of this city!

Beautiful building filled with great art and historic artifacts. Only spent 3 hours in there so I didn't get the chance To explore the whole thing, it's definitely worth another trip or 2 to really take everything in. The Cafe was super busy by the time I got hungry so I skipped it but it looks like a nice relaxing courtyard to take a break in if you're planning on spending the whole day there. The Diego Rivera mural is truly a masterpiece. Shout out the lovely Michelle at the front desk!!!

It was a dream of mine to visit this museum one day. I finally got the opportunity while visiting the University of Michigan and had some hours to kill while waiting for my flight. The access was very quick and the staff gladly took out carry on luggage and bags at the cost check so we could visit the place, something other museums don’t usually do. The place was even more magnificent than I imagined and crowds were light on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The store is also worth noting, since I collect museum catalogues I purchased one and was pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices, compared to New York or Paris, where you can find world-class museums such as this one.

I could have spent days and days here. Loved all of it. Every single piece of art. So much to take in. So many things to do, not just look at beautiful art! Workshops, preformacnes, two delicious places to eat, and an amazing gift shop that is its own art gallery. So much fun, I cant wait to go back.

Exceeded expectations! A very cool collection. Spent a few hours there. I especially liked the boards they had up near some of the paintings explaining what you're looking at. If limited on time I'd start on floor 2, then do floor 3, then 1. Great vibes! 20$ per person. Wayne County residents are free with ID. Bought tickets there. Parking was 8 $ nearby.

Visited with my mom and had a great time. She uses a wheelchair and we didn't have any difficulty getting around the building. The docents were extremely helpful and friendly. This museum has one of the best collections of the old masters in the Midwest. Rembrandt, Rubens, Titian, plus Holbein and Van Eyck. The Impressionist and modern art were mostly off view due to current renovations. So we will have to come back for sure! Even without everything on display, the museum is well worth the visit.

Guests staying at the connected hotels like Comfort Inn or Hawthorn Suites find it convenient to switch between swimming and dry activities throughout the day. The staff is friendly and attentive to safety, ensuring a worry-free experience for families.
I took my kids to Splash Lagoon, and we had an absolutely fantastic time! From the moment we walked in, the staff was friendly and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed for a fun-filled day. The water park itself is amazing—tons of exciting slides, a lazy river, and a huge wave pool that kept my kids entertained for hours. The water was warm, and everything was clean and well-maintained, which made the experience even better. My kids especially loved the tipping bucket and the indoor-outdoor hot tub! There were plenty of seating areas for parents to relax while the kids played, and the food options were surprisingly good for a water park. We grabbed some snacks, and everything was fresh and reasonably priced. Overall, it was the perfect family outing. My kids are already asking when we can go back, and I’m more than happy to plan another trip! If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly getaway, Splash Lagoon is a must-visit.

We had a wonderful experience. Even with different schools visiting the lines went quick. Everything was extremely clean. The only thing that I would say is that certain staff would let my daughter go down the sides by herself, as she is 48 in tall. However some staff when they switched over would not let her go without an adult. Other than that, there was so much to do. Not only is there a water park, but there's also an arcade. And there are lots of food courts and Quaker steak is attached to it. Play kids also love looking out over the balcony at the boogie board place and the wave pool. And they had so much fun at the boogie boards, and the instructors were so sweet. If they fell off too soon, the instructors would let them have another turn.

We had a great experience. A few things to keep in mind when visiting, take your own towels. It is a Cashless resort as well. Not a ton to do for your older kids/adults to do but still able to have some fun. The staircase for the water slides is a tight squeeze with inner tubes that all use the same stair case with 3 lines. All in all had a lovely experience, not enough lifeguards for all the areas. Definitely look for the best deals when going to enjoy the most for the least!
Samantha V — Google review
Found an amazing deal online! Included 4 passes for 2 days and an overnight stay! Staff was super friendly, facilities all very clean, kept the floors in bathrooms dry, and lots of places to sit. No long waits for slides and great kid area. Lifeguards watch and do their jobs. Arcade is huge. Only thing is food prices are a little steep.

SENSORY DAY 2025 (Friday May 16th) We took advantage of sensory day at Splash Lagoon. They had a special rate for an overnight stay. We were able to stay overnight and 4 passes to the water park, plus we bought an extra pass because we are a family of 5. Check in day you can arrive as early at noon for the water park and 4pm for your hotel. Check.out day the Waterpark opens at 11am for hotel guests only and noon for everyone else, you are welcome to stay all day. Destiny, at the Wyndham front desk, was so professional and efficient. We got our wristbands and headed over to the Waterpark. We found the Waterpark to be so clean, the staff was plentiful and accommodating. This place is very well run. There are alot of lifeguards and they are very focused on the water and safety of the guests, but not rigid. The food at the café was about $12 per meal, burgers-pizza-hot dogs-fries-chicken tenders-ice cream. There is so much seating you will not have a problem finding a seat. Tables and chairs as well as pool chairs by the wave pool. There are bathrooms located throughout the park, changing areas, family changing as well. There are lockers to rent at a kiosk, very easy and affordable. **you do need your own towels, they do not provide them at this location ** The hotel was pretty nice for what we paid. Our room was on the 5th floor. We had 2 queen/full beds as well as a pull out. Plenty of pillows and towels. There is a jacuzzi tub that was big enough for me, my 8yo and 5yo to soak in together. We had a coffee table, and eating table, a desk, a swivel tv, a mini fridge and freezer, microwave and a small bar area with a coffee pot. Breakfast was your usual free breakfast. Eggs, sausage, biscuits, gravy, waffle makers, juice, fruit, breads. Lots of coffee. There was a ton of room to eat in the breakfast bar. The staff there were hustling and getting everything cleaned up as guests turned over. Overall, this was a great stay.

All staff seemed friendly, restrooms and changing rooms were very well maintained and clean, floors we're kept as dry as possible to prevent fall hazards. We will definitely be going again

The Tom Patterson Theatre, part of the renowned Stratford Festival, is a contemporary gem that offers an intimate experience with its unique thrust stage design. Originally known as the Casino, this venue has a rich history of hosting legendary big bands like Count Basie and Duke Ellington. Visitors can explore public areas such as the inviting lobby and charming café without needing tickets, but to access the theatre itself for shows or workshops, tickets are required.
The acoustics, stage lighting and effects were amazing. The theatre is beautiful. The only complaint that I have was that because of the remote location by the river, it is difficult for seniors with mobility issues to have a choice of places to eat. Therefore the theatre’s restaurant has a monopoly on food and was over priced.

An amazing experience in a beautiful, light filled and airy theatre. The common spaces never felt crowded. You can see the river from wherever you are in the lobby. The park occupies a seven-mile-long peninsula with opportunities for swimming, fishing, bird watching, biking and hiking. Visitors can also enjoy nearby attractions like Waldameer Park and Water World.
Not from this state so I am thrilled to say, this is a MUST when visiting PA. Parking-Free, Beach-Free, Park-Free, bathrooms by beach are decent. You have changing rooms and showers. It's clean and beautiful environment. Definitely a great place to visit with family and friends. If you want more private beach, go to Beach 8. 10 am until 2 It's just peaceful.

We had a quick stop before heading home. Beautiful park! Definitely want to come back and explore when we have more time. There are 6 different beaches entrances, 3 different piers, ferry rides and even a park. Beautiful!

Presque Isle State Park is an absolute gem along Lake Erie! The park is beautifully maintained, with clean restrooms, plenty of walking and biking trails, and several gorgeous beaches to choose from. Beach 6 and Beach 8 are the most popular, offering calm lakeshore waters perfect for families and a relaxing swim. My favorite is Beach 10 — the water there is crystal clear with open waves, giving it a more adventurous and refreshing feel. It’s a fantastic spot to just sit back, enjoy the breeze, and watch the waves roll in. Best of all, entry to the park is completely free! I highly recommend bringing your own food and turning it into a picnic — it’s the perfect way to spend a day by the beach.

Presque Isle was magnificent! I’m sure it’s super packed on the summer, but ours was a fall visit and while it was busy, it was not too bad! Great foot and bike paths. Lots of beach area, the water was great and the lighthouse didn’t disappoint even though it was closed. This was recommended from a friend and I’m so glad we went! Definitely worth the trip if you are within an hour or two drive.

This is seriously one of those places you visit and cznt wait to come too. Super safe, there's always rangers/ law enforcement driving around. Clean, with lots of garbage cans and restroom areas. I grew up around Lake Erie and I still get pleasantly surprised at how clear the water is at these beaches. Great place to grab Primanti Brothers and spend the afternoon.

I suggest everyone go! Beautiful views, nice beaches, clean, and a lot of areas for parking and easy access. Nice drive, beautiful fall colors, and lots of small things to do. Playgrounds, bathrooms, and parking all year. We were able to get out and in easily. Found lots of seashells and my littles had a blast. Take extra clothes, kids don't care if its cold!

It is absolutely beautiful here. I love view. It's nice sand to walk in, we had a great time! Free to go, and you can rent boats. I think they are pet friendly as well. I didn't go anywhere other than the beach area, so I'm not sure about restrooms, picnic areas, or playground.

The water was very shallow at beach 7, only up to hip height on an adult. We considered bringing floats but I was glad we didn't. I don't know for sure but we saw nobody using them &after being told we couldn't pass a pool football in the water I doubt floats would be allowed. Not the lake adventure we're used to &not what we were looking for. Beautiful area &you can see through the water all the way out to the buoy perimeter.

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum in Hamilton is a must-visit for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs. It boasts an impressive collection of over 45 military aircraft, including rare gems like the Avro Lancaster bomber, one of only two still flying. From World War I-era prop planes to modern jet fighters, the museum showcases Canada's aviation history. Visitors can also explore flight simulators and learn about the roles these warplanes played in significant events like the Battle of Britain.
What a great museum. First time coming, and I really enjoyed my time there. Full of beautiful historic planes and equipment. I appreciate the volunteers and people who work there, doing what they do to preserve and maintain these amazing machines and honoring the men and women of the time and what they did. I look forward to returning on Canada Day when the Lancaster fires up. We took the tour led by Phil, very enjoyable. He was entertaining and full of knowledge. Thank you.

Great place to bring kids to, lot of different war time planes to see. There are 2-3 different types of aircrafts where the kids can go in and even sit in the cockpit. Lot of historical information related to specific planes and the role they played during various wars. They have 2 propeller planes which offer the opportunity to fly in them as well. They also have free flight simulators which are a lot of fun. There is a small merchandise shop which is nice. There is ample parking. overall lot of fun for kids and adults alike. Overall must visit place for anyone interested in WWII, Canadian history and aviation history.

Great place to learn about Canada's contribution to the world wars. Minus one star for the aged and disabled who wish to visit the open flight deck but have to walk up 3 flights of stairs. Thanks to all the young and experienced cadets who are really impressive with their product knowledge. The restorers and engineers are doing an amazing job fixing up this rare collection. The Runway cafe is really good value with all the usual fast-food you'd expect. And acknowledgment to the pilots who give their passengers an unforgettable experience

A surprise birthday flight on the C-47 Dakota was a very memorable experience. My original flight was cancelled due to poor weather conditions so I rescheduled the next available date which was Rememberance day. The pilots and other volunteers provided excellent information about the history of the plane. We flew over multiple Rememberance day services during the flight and experienced the excitement of banking into a turn. I've flown many times on commercial and smaller planes to northern communities but this flight will always stand out as unique with the rumbling roar of the piston engines and the bare bones interior. Would highly recommend to any plane enthusiast, a truly unforgettable experience.

Excellent place to visit and see the planes and learn how they were helpful to RCAF in defending sovereignty of our country. Interactive videos of decorated airforce personnel, who are not amongst us but the museum has kept them to see and learn about their lives. Place worth visiting.

We had our wedding here in October 2025. Stevie-Jane couldn’t have been more accommodating and easy to deal with. She communicated everything to us clearly and set expectations appropriately!! The day went as smooth as can be! All of our guests said the venue was so unique and fun! If you’re looking for a unique, and classy wedding venue, this is the place to be!!

What an awesome place. My 13 yr old wants to be a pilot and just being there with him was such a great experience. There was a large group of air cadets when we were there so we could not get a guide, but the self guided tour of the museum was fine. Would absolutely recommend to any plane enthusiasts and also anyone wanting to see some really neat Canadian history. Very well maintained, I really loved seeing these planes being restored, just awesome important work! Would definitely go back

The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is more than just a museum – it’s an experience. What I loved most was the hands-on aspect. Unlike many museums where everything is kept behind ropes, here you actually get to climb into cockpits and explore the interiors of some of the aircraft. It felt amazing to sit where real pilots once sat and imagine what it must have been like to fly. The collection itself is incredible. Each aircraft comes with detailed stories and history. I was especially impressed that many of the planes are still in flying condition — it’s not just a static display, but a living museum. The museum is also very family-friendly. Kids seemed to love the interactive displays, and adults could spend hours taking in all the history. Overall, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum offers more than just a look at planes — it’s an immersive, hands-on experience that connects you to Canada’s aviation history in a very real way.
