Isla Ixtapa

Mentioned on

Island
Nature & Parks
Isla Ixtapa is a popular island known for its variety of water sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling, and swimming. Playa Cuachalalate is the most frequented spot on the island due to its proximity to the boat dock and excellent swimming conditions. Visitors can also enjoy snorkeling at playa Varadero, where calm waters and coral formations await just in front of Restaurante Paraiso Escondido.
Fun little island. Great food. Great water rides. Great views. Great snorkeling on the backside of the island. Good day-trip destination.
Tim H — Google review
Nice island for a day trip from the mainland. The water taxi takes a couple of minutes to get you to Playa Veradero so that you can walk through to Playa Coral to snorkel. There are many restaurants but they aren't cheap.
Nadine C — Google review
Fast and easy boat ride to the island. There are plenty of places to sit on the beach that have umbrellas and lunch. Not so rough water, good swimming, snorkeling, and sea shell hunting.
Brandi H — Google review
Had a great time out at the island! Wish we have done this a couple of times while we visited. There's two sides, a beach that is rocky that has snorkeling and then a swimming beach. We had fun on both sides. There's plenty of shade, chairs, loungers, cold drinks, and food. We took a water taxi out to the island for $100 pesos per person. Some of the menus weren't in English so I recommend downloading Google translate offline before going. 10/10 OH! And we saw whales!
Courtney K — Google review
Love to go there every time we visit Ixtapa, beautiful place and great food. The snorkelling is also great, the only thing I can complain about is that the boats delivering food to the restaurants are in front of each one of them, making the swimming a bit dangerous and it also smells a lot like fuel. Maybe this could be improved arranging the deliveries at an earlier time of the day before the guests arrive. Other than that, it is a great day to spend the day.
G. H — Google review
Swimming here was wonderful because the water was nice and calm. Service was very friendly and the island atmosphere is relaxed.
Sheila F — Google review
An amazing day trip! Only 80 pesos to get on the island from Playa Linda and we had a blast. Go snorkeling on Playa Coral and eat some charcoal grilled fish for a great day.
Jonah L — Google review
We had a wonderful day snorkeling at playa Varadero in Isla Ixtapa. On February 13, 2023, the weather was good and sunny. The ocean was calm. The snorkeling place where there are some corals is only 30 feet(10 meters) in front of Restaurante Paraiso Escondido. We parked ourselves at the restaurant based on the good Google reviews. We didn’t have to pay to rent the umbrella and chairs as in some restaurants in Playa Las Gatas. We only need to pay for the food and drinks. Their prices are competitive and reasonable. We ordered a grilled (pan fried in Mexico) fish filet and Corona beer. The total price was 245 pesos. We paid 200 pesos for a complete set of snorkeling equipment. When we were ready to pay the bill, I ran into the owner John. He was very personable and friendly. He even offered me a free drink! We snorkeled both at Playa Las Gatas and Playa Varadero. We saw about 15 different types of fishes in Playa Varadero versus several in Playa Las Gatas and the bottom was sand versus stones. There is a coral beach for snorkeling in Isla Ixtapa but there are many sharp corals and the incoming waves pushing my wife against the corals. One can easily cut by the corals. So, we gave up snorkeling at the coral beach. On a separate note, we took the collectivo to Playa Linda from Zihuatanejo center (near the Mercado Municipal) for 20 pesos and took the boat to Isla Ixtapa for 80 pesos round trip.

Comprised of 253 arches measuring 30 feet high, this one-mile aqueduct served the city until 1910. It's pretty cool to look at something so old surrounded by so much new. 50 peso landmark is where an OXXO is 😂
Mister D — Google review
I cannot descibe how it feels to walk along this aquaduct. Imagining water flowing to supply the city but this is not some ugly piece of utilitarian passage for water. The arches are beautiful but walk along and look at the old buildings that are an arms width away. The city has so much history and until you visit you will not be under its spell. It took awhile but with true love it grabs you when you least expect it...I miss Morela with all my heart.

I’m not spiritual but this place is remarkable. Beautifully maintained and clean, well signposted my only beef is the limited number of toilets (sanitarios). To be in Uruapan, a lovely city, and not come here would be a shame. Come early to park on the street and enjoy early morning light. No pets allowed. 30 pesos each. Brilliant.

Volcano
Nature & Parks
Volcano Paricutin, known for its cinder-cone shape and breathtaking views, attracts outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking. Despite being less than 80 years old, the volcano offers a unique trekking experience up scree slopes to reach its summit. The surrounding lava fields offer a glimpse of the destructive power of nature while giving visitors an unforgettable view from the top.
Awesome spot to check off the bucket list! You have to take some hiking shoes. Invest in some if you don't have any. The rocks are very sharp and you need to be careful. The hike is pretty intense and steep for the average person. I'm not used to that type of climb but was beautiful and well worth it. The views are amazing. It has some spots where you can see some steam coming out of the rocks.
Hector E — Google review
Everyone should visit this volcano once in their life. It is a magical experience, and although it is a steep climb, persistence will help you make it to the top. Getting down is super fun!
Lisa C — Google review
I highly recommend exercising prior to the trip so you can hike up through the lava rocks and up to the crater. Be sure to bring some water and snacks as the hike can be hours long but worth while during the entire journey. Also have solid comfortable shoes and be sure to tighten them on the way up. On the way down from the volcano be prepared to get lava sand inside your shoes and socks. This is an all day trip and the sun can be tough so have some type of head gear. After the volcano y recommend horseriding to the old town (San Juan). The entire tour can be arranged by the tour guides at the entrance to the town of Angahuan. The tour may sound expensive but as my tour guide Benito stated, the money goes to help 4 families in town. Benito, who's 60 but in amazing shape did not struggle during the hike, yet my 32 year old body struggled just to make it to the base of the volcano. Once at the crater, the scenery was mesmerizing and at my next trip I plan to spend the night up there.
Luis L — Google review
Amazing experience, also walkable from the cabañas. We started at 7:30 in the morning and finished ad 4:30 incl pictures, lunchbreak etc. Gave just three stars because the friendly guy who sells the entry tickets cheated us. We paid 35 pesos and he had no more bolletos to give us out. Later we found one on the way, and surprise it cost 20 pesos.
Jacqueline V — Google review
It is really nice, beautiful country. I rode a horse to the buried town. I had been fascinated about the volcano since learning about it years earlier from Dr. Kathleen Thomas, my Spanish teacher at Hickory Hills elementary school.

As a teenager I saw the unfinished cathedral, now as an adult man, I see the majestic and beauty cathedral. This cathedral rivals many of Europe's greatest cathedrals. This sanctuary is a big wow, the organ is beautiful as well. The best thing is that one can walk around and under the altar in order to be in communion with our lady of Guadalupe.

This place is so beautiful and just amazing. It truly makes you feel small in the best possible way. My only complaint was, we went on a Sunday and it was closed all day, it opened at 5pm for mass so we didn't get a chance to really see it and admire it

Place is beautiful, well taken care of. Clean, and it has many posts that you can read. I loved the structure and statutes of the apostles. Also, the 12 stations of the cross. Definitely, a must if you visit Michoacan.

The Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores is a historic church located in the heart of Dolores Hidalgo. This magnificent building holds great significance as it was the site where Hidalgo delivered his famous Grito, marking the beginning of Mexico's fight for independence. The church's stunning architecture, adorned with intricate details made of cantera, showcases a blend of baroque churrigueresque style.
Magnificent architecture! You can see bullet holes from a long time ago engraved in the front of the building. The inside is incredible and the design of this place is breath taking. So much history to be learned from this place. This is where Mexico fought for its independence long ago. The Cry of Dolores or “Grito de Dolores”, was when a priest rang the bells and triggered the start of the Mexican war on September 16, 1810.

I recently visited Dolores Hidalgo that had a beautiful church called Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores. The church was located near a lovely plaza in the center of town. It was a quick stop for me before I headed to San Miguel de Allende. The town had a charming atmosphere and I enjoyed my short stay there.

It is a very large and well-preserved church. Walking through its corridors, one can see the care and maintenance dedicated to keeping it in such a great state. It's one of the most ostentatious churches I have seen while visiting Mexico.
Erick V — Google review
This beautiful church stands tall among the local buildings. Please keep an eye out for the intricate details found on the front facade, which are made of cantera. Construction first began in 1712, and three centuries later it still remains as a prime example of baroque churrigueresque style. Upon entering the facilities, gaze up to the ceiling and you will discover a taste of centuries past.

Magnificent Parroquia de Nuestra Senora marking the birthplace of the Mexican Revolution against Spain in September of 1810. Father Hidalgo made his famous call to war to the local population on this plaza. After over a decade of bloodshed the costly conflict gave way to Freedom for Mexico in 1821.

A beautiful church, and since it's facing the main plaza, you can have some of Dolores Hidalgo's famous ice cream at the outdoor stands there after your visit. This church figured in the Mexican independence movement; there are several interesting, inexpensive museums a few paces away.

Monumento Al Pipila

Sights & Landmarks
The Monumento Al Pipila is a tribute to a local hero of the War of Independence, situated on a hill that offers breathtaking panoramic views of Guanajuato. Visitors can reach the monument by climbing stairs or taking the city's old funicular from Teatro Juarez. The colossal statue depicts Pipila holding a torch with his right arm raised and left arm resting on a stone slab.
What a view!!! If you are visiting Guanajuato you must make the trip up to this statute. It's a monument to a hero of the Mexican revolution but more than that it's location affords a commanding view of the city and mountains. While you can take the tram both up and down, I suggest just taking it up. The walk down is much easier than I would have expected.

Stairs stairs stairs everywhere. Please be advised if you have lower extremity problems. Otherwise this is the best view of the city. Its breathtaking. And dont pass up the local food and snacks being offered at the top by the locals. DELICIOUS! If you are fit and decide to opt out of the lift car (either up or back down), my husband climbed the stairs and said it took him 5-10 min. He was winded but he said it wasnt bad.

I especially love visiting here in the late afternoon, sitting atop the hill with a gentle evening breeze, watching the old town bathed in the colorful glow of the sunset. The whole atmosphere is peaceful and romantic—perfect for relaxing and taking photos!

It has a beautiful view of the city. We went during the day, but can imagine how beautiful it must look at night. It's very cold, so make sure to go in warm clothes.

Two options to go here : funicular ride or the stairs. The hike is tiring but great things to see too. I go up with stairs and go down with funicular. The funicular cost 40 peso and stairs are free. Nice view from th platform. Big statue of pipila on top of the hill. Some shops nearby and also toilet is nearby.
Reyner G — Google review
Great spot and a delightful view of El Centro, the downtown city center and the river of commerce that flows through its base. You can see a big chunk of this historic city from here but certainly not the whole thing, you need to visit La Buffa to see it all and that's a hike, like an actual hike with a bit of amateur rock climbing required. Bring a hiking stick if you go up there, it's like a third leg. But back to Pipila. There is a short funicular ride up for $40MX pesos. A steal compared to the heart attack you might have trying to take the path and steps which are not marked well, if at all. It doesn't look very far away or up and maybe technically it isn't but you aren't walking a ladder up to it so it's a pretty circuitous route. I recommend hitching a ride up on said funicular and then walking down from there. Behave like water here and you will never be lost. Just keep going downhill until you can't and you will be at the basin of the river of commerce and everything leads from there. Behave opposite of water and you will find little treasures off the beaten path. Better food and charming shops. You cannot get lost because if you don't know where you are you only need behave like water and soon enough you'll splash into the river of commerce again. This place was built up by geological forces and carved out by millennia of floods and monsoon rains. Don't fight it. Get lost. Be water. Be found. Find a bench. Find yourself.

Narrow alley with steep steps known for a tragic love story that draws couples to its site to kiss.
Good story (legend). Too crowded on a Sunday. Over 30 couples waiting. Came back on Tuesday and there was no wait. Make sure to take a pic standing on the third step up kissing. Otherwise it’s bad luck. :)
Adam P — Google review
The city built during the 17 and 18 hundreds has its own version of Romero and Juliet. This is were the lovers were able to kiss across the alley because their balconies almost touched. It a must see but slightly over rated.

Great place, to many tourists! Lots a walking bring your good legs and comfy shoes. If you have bad hips and knees, definitely this is not the place for you.

We had a great experience here. Do some homework first and you'll enjoy the experience. Knowing the legend beforehand we and having seen pics we just wanted a photo but over the festival weekend it had hundreds of people in line. We asked before and were told it was mxn $50 to get on the balcony. We deduced immediately this would be mxn $50 each since we would each go to separate balconies. The guy telling the legend and taking pictures with your phone/camera does it for tips and he does it well and takes many great pictures. The fun for us was in the crowd, both watching them as well as having them cheer as we kissed and cheering as they kiss. It was really a great festive environment. If crowded or on the weekends they open the balcony at noon. Just show up a few minutes early and you shouldn't have to wait. It's likely not crowded during the week or when large events aren't going on.

Museum of the Mummies of Guanajuato

Mentioned on

Specialty Museums
The Museum of the Mummies of Guanajuato is a popular attraction that displays over 100 mummified bodies, accompanied by an informative video. These naturally preserved remains date back to the mid-19th century when locals succumbed to a cholera outbreak. The museum's origins stem from cemetery staff exhuming bodies between 1865 and 1958 due to unpaid taxes, subsequently charging visitors for viewing.
Great museum, been here when I was kid and now as an adult. Very neat to see and understand. Parking is 18 pesos an hour. We spent an hour with even using the rest room and grabbing a snack.
Linda D — Google review
I was surprised by this museum! 😱 There were so many different mummies. And some bad stories, too! They have the YOUNGEST mummy in the world, a 6-month old fetus mummy! 😱 And the stories are in English & Spanish! 🙏🏼 I wish there were English tours available. Or headset to listen to stories... Or QR codes to read more about the stories.. that would be nice.. No bathrooms inside 😔 Pay bathrooms outside.
Ali N — Google review
Now you see kids, this is what happens when you don't pay your bills! Pretty interesting but pretty creepy too. Beats the Egyptian mummy museums hands down. We were there in mid-May and walked there from the funicular. A long hill on the last part but not bad.
KARL H — Google review
I loved this mummy—honestly, it fascinated me on so many levels. When I first walked into the museum, there was a noticeable scent. Not a creepy or unpleasant one, but something strangely familiar… earthy, maybe? It felt like the scent of time itself. What the staff didn’t mention was that my 106-peso ticket only allowed access to the basic exhibit. I didn’t realize this until I was about to leave and noticed there were other areas I couldn’t enter. That part was a bit disappointing—so make sure you buy the full ticket if you go. The tour guides spoke only Spanish, so I didn’t understand much at the time. But once I got home and did my research, everything clicked. These mummies are completely natural. No embalming. No rituals. They were discovered when the government exhumed bodies due to unpaid burial taxes—and shockingly, many were perfectly preserved by the dry conditions and the unique soil. The first mummy ever found was a priest, which is why he’s quite famous here. But the most heart-wrenching and iconic is the six-month-old baby mummy. The baby was found still in its mother’s arms—most likely both died during childbirth. That image really stuck with me. What struck me most was how this baby, who would’ve been seen as a symbol of the divine, ended up buried without breath, sealed in sawdust, only to survive time as a mummy. It’s philosophical. It’s poetic. And no, it’s not scary at all. These mummies are oddly endearing. Almost gentle in the way they speak to mortality. Later, while walking through the local market, I saw some sweet potatoes and tree roots in the same earthy tones as the mummies. Everything started to feel connected—like nature, death, time, and even snacks are speaking in the same color palette. Wild, right? So if you’re visiting Guanajuato: 💀 Don’t skip the mummy museum. 🎟️ Buy the full ticket. 📚 Read up afterward if you don’t speak Spanish. 😌 And if you’re scared—honestly, don’t be. These mummies aren’t scary. They’re full of stories and quiet wisdom. If you’re too afraid… maybe it’s best not to come. But if you’re curious, it’s absolutely worth it.
Vivi C — Google review
Glad I read the reviews beforehand so I knew what to expect. GO DIRECTLY TO THE MUSEUM PARKING. Be prepared to pay extra if using a card. Went in the morning. Hardly anyone was there besides random people (4+) trying AGRESSEVELY to hawk super inflated items in the parking lot. The exhibits were nice enough, but not very informative. Maybe 15 of the mummies actually had an explanation of their origins. Didn't pay extra for the fancier exhibits though. The gift shop had a decent selection, but also inflated prices. $230 pesos for a T shirt when other vendors are selling for around $150. All in all if you're in the area it's a fine museum, but I wouldn't make this the sole reason to visit GTO.
Israel S — Google review
Arrived around 2pm on a Sunday. Waited for ticket and entry for about 45 minutes. 120 pesos for the main exhibit and the extra room. They bring you in in groups, but they don't pay attention to how many people have left before letting more people in, so the museum gets so packed that you literally cannot walk to see the exhibits until your group moves to the next room. By the time your group moves to the next room, the group or 2 behind you are already filling up that room so it's packed again. I think this was because my group was offered a free guide, so they stayed in each room longer to listen to his information. But I wanted to also see the mummies, so I eventually waited for my group to go a few rooms ahead and by the time I was maybe 3 or 4 groups behind and the guide was nowhere in sight, finally there was room to walk and see the mummies. Very bad organization! The mummies themselves are cool and the extra room was nice and quicker to walk through without the crowds. Took about 45 minutes to walk through the entire museum, with being stuck waiting for the crowds to move for 5+ minutes in each room. I think if you go earlier or maybe on a weekday, you'd have less chance of a crowd. I also think being in a group with a free guide was not good with such a large group.
Maddi P — Google review
The most expensive museum I visited in Guanajuato and the most interesting/disappointing as well. When you enter the first room, it is very cool seeing the mummies and how well preserved they are and learning about how some of them died. Then you walk into another room...and same thing. Then another room with the same. Then another room with the same....you get the idea... Also they say to try and be quiet but the tour guy is shouting loudly and people are talking on the phones etc. Bottom line - interesting but basic exhibit and poorly organized. Tickets were 106 pesos for adults.
Johnny L — Google review
First time visiting. Very interesting. Worth the trip. A long line on Sunday, super crowded and a long wait to purchase tickets and enter. Group tours led by a guide. Too many people to fit in each salon and it was hard to hear the guide. Also, as a non native speaker it was extremely difficult to understand all the complex aspects of the tour/museum/mummies. However it was still very interesting and memorable.

Beautiful area, worth the hike. The guy at the gate up top was a total jerk, he made the whole experience stressful. Didn't explain anything, just told us we couldn't enter. It's like the community forces people to go on a horseback tour if you want to enter.
Owner V — Google review
Nice hike down a stone road lined with cabins. Downhill to get to the waterfall then back up to return. Your experience at the falls would likely depend on the amount of people that are also there. It is possible to climb behind the water.

Nice hike and falls, I do recommend visiting this part of Mexico in the rainy season because everything is green. Note they do charge an entrance fee (40 pesos per person) and if you want a ride (on their trucks) or horses that is separate. For the horses it was 125 pesos per hour. For the truck it was 40 pesos to go down and another 40 pesos to come back up
Chessel O — Google review
The walk is long with lots of up and down. The entry fee is 30 pesos, but consider paying an extra 20 per person for the ride down to the cascada - fountain. You will still have to earn quite a bit and down the side of a mountain to the actual falls. Same thing with horses, except that the horse ride is 250 pesos pet person. There are washrooms at the bottom before you go down to the falls but no water; so carry yours with you.
Jagdeep R — Google review
Walking instructions from Mazamitla: I'm writing this because if you're only looking on Google maps, it's legit confusing as to how you even get to the waterfall. You have to walk to where it shows Los Cazos on Google. There's a gate there into Los Cazos, as it's private residences/cabanas. On the lefthand side of the gate, there's a foot path and you walk along that, there's a small window to pay 30 pesos for entry. After that, the signs within Los Cazos are easy to follow to reach the waterfall. Note: pay close attention to the route. There are quite a few streets in the subdivision, and a lot of turns are kind of similar looking. So it's easy enough to find your way in, but on the way out I took a wrong turn. The hike is great from town. It wasn't what I expected, as the majority is walking along cobblestone streets vs. a forest path. However the cabanas in Los Cazos are great! All of them. They're pretty much full blown houses vs. cabanas, but each one is unique and is in a lovely setting. I went on a Wed morning in mid-February. I sat at the waterfall by myself for an hour. Secret: want an actual hike through the forest? At the bottom of the stairs of the waterfall, to the left, there's a path that goes along the river. You have to hop the fence. It's well worth it. It goes along the river for a little ways, then it climbs. And climbs. And climbs. But where it takes you is outstanding. You end up on a road, and at the top there are a bunch of other roads (that look like they haven't been used in years) and trails and a sign that said Bison Eco Park. I had no idea where to go from there, so I laid on a bed of pine needles in the forest for a bit and snacked and chilled, then went back to the bottom of the waterfall again. Was worth it. I have zero doubt that if I had followed the proper trail/road at the top that I would have popped out at a main road. But, I was fine with what I did and the route I took. When people say it's uphill on the way back... it's uphill on the way back. From the base of the waterfall to Centro Mazamitla, it's steadily uphill besides one small downhill part. Not difficult, but I was pooped by the end and chilled in the main square for a bit.

Beautiful place to visit day and night. Lots of venders during the day just be careful they will try to push products on you sometimes, but besides that it was great. Plenty of delicious food and drinks nearby. There are no free bathrooms so keep some coins on you, prices vary but a few 5-10peso coins should be enough. They do give bare minimum toilet paper also so bring some extra with you. At night most of the shops selling items close but the food stands and restaurants stay open. It’s so beautiful at night and families generally are still there hanging out . Honestly it’s a beautiful place that you must experience yourself

Hospicio Cabañas, located in Guadalajara's historic center, is a renowned 18th-century complex that has transitioned from a facility for the needy to a hub of art and culture. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it now houses the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, showcasing an extensive collection of contemporary Mexican artworks, including pieces by Jose Clemente Orozco and French artist Daniel Buren.
I highly recommend anyone coming to Guadalajara to make a visit to this museum. Tuesdays are free. The murals in the chapel are breathtaking and should not be missed. As well, there are several exhibition rooms that showcase a variety of art and genres.

A mixed bag. Tickets are affordable and available, there is hardly a line to enter the place. The interior houses a few photo galleries, with rotating expositions, and not much else. Really dont like rating so low but besides the history of the building there are few unimpressive exhibits. Orozco murals are good, if cost was lower perhaps 2 stars. Didn't understand massive historical building, nice courtyards, yet so little to see for 110 pesos. Was a large group of important people back of building closed off didnt help the experience.

A must visit place in Guadalajara. With it's long history as an hospice and culture space this colonial jem helds different contemporary art exhibitions and one of the mos extraordinary murales in México. You could easily spend 2 or 3 hours walking around the different galleries. A visit to the museum store is also recommended.

Worth visiting. They even allow you to lie down on the chair and watch the magnificent drawings. Most freely enjoyable museum i have ever been

At the Hospicio Cabañas in Guadalajara, which is very beautiful, and of course the murals are the highlight of the place. In addition, there is a person who narrates in detail the history and meaning of the murals.

Brought family here for the tour which they offer in Spanish and English. Vladimir was our guide and did an amazing job. Highly recommend!

Guadalajara's Cathedral

Guadalajara Cathedral, a grand 16th and 17th-century structure, houses the relics of St. Innocent. The cathedral is located in a neighborhood dominated by historical landmarks such as the Governor's Palace and the Hospicio Cabanas. The latter was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its original chapel adorned with striking apocalyptic murals by artist Jose Clemente Orozco.
Beautiful breathtaking church! I visit often and every time I am always in awe of its beauty. The mass is beautiful and the acoustics of the church make the mass service more amazing.

An amalgamation of architectural styles with much history relative to most buildings in the Americas. The icons in the cathedral are sometimes more bloody in depiction than other churches I have visited. Greater emphasis on Mary in churches and cathedrals here, congruent with the attempt to overlay pagan deities with saints and Holy Mothers. There is another separate church attached. This part of the city is very walkable and Guadalajara’s devotion to the arts is admirable

Catedral Basílica de la Asunción de María Santísima remains central to Guadalajara where it has stood since the 17th century. Still architecturally stunning despite fires, age and earthquakes the capitol's center of worship is a must-see from the detailed pulpit to crypts below. Home to the relics of St. Innocent, expect large crowds during times of worship.

It's a large and imposing building that I wouldn't exactly call beautiful. The architecture seems eclectic, and the towers seem out of place withe rest of the building there are quite a few beggars and questionable characters hanging out in front of the church. Other than that, a nice edifice, just not the nicest.

Went on a Saturday morning. Inside amazing architecture and prolific art. Took pictures with local photographer vendor outside to catch professional photographs. He knew where to stand and get the best angles.

Zoologico Guadalajara is a popular zoo that offers a diverse range of animals, shows, train tours, and an aquarium. It's known as one of the nice parks in Guadalajara due to its wide variety of animal classifications, including wild animals, numerous bird species, and predatory animals.
Great zoo! So much to see. Great for families!!! Lots of different animals from all over the world…looks like all animals are well taken care of..parking was easy 100 pesos, and we got the premier ticket which was totally worth it…you can spend days here, nice when we went wasn’t too busy. Loved the safari drive, you are right next to the animals! Great experience!!!

This place is huge. Nicely kept. It has a nice aquarium, a sky lift, and a vet center. Lions. Tiger. Elephants. Penguins. Hippos. Rhinos. And the restrooms are clean.🙂 My only negative is that the Raspado stands were closed. 😓

One of the best zoo’s I have visited so far, after USA, Canada and India. So many variety of animals and birds. Definitely a must see when you are in Guadalajara.

It was a very enjoyable experience. Definitely need to have great walking shoes and cash since the majority of the vendors if not all only take cash. Lots of activities for the littles.

I Loved it. Highly recommend. Very educational. Prices are very affordable. The zoo is very complete, it has nimal interactions, an aquarium, and so much more!!!
Nilda P — Google review
Best zoo ever! It has a safari experience, a lifting chair and train ride that takes you around the zoo. I loved that it's very clean and has beautiful scenery everywhere you look. If you miss the hours to feed the bigger animals, you can go to the deers section and feed those instead. They are not encaptured and roaming wildly free. This zoo also has a farm area, where you can see, feed, brush, and pet horses and goats. It is a very big zoo, so plan on spending the whole day there, especially if you are walking through it all. I enjoyed that we went on a weekday avoiding the busy crowds. I was very impressed and my child loved it too! We can't wait to go back!
Rebeca T — Google review
Zoo was big and pretty the ride that takes you above the animals was really cool and so was the safari ride! If you love animals you should really check it out

The Palacio de Gobierno del Estado de Aguascalientes is a historical building with a striking red colonial facade and 110 arches, originally constructed in 1665. It houses five stunning murals that showcase Mexican art. The plaza surrounding the palace, Plaza de la Patria, serves as a focal point and is surrounded by significant buildings like City Hall. Visitors can explore this architectural marvel any day of the week for free and witness the representation of Mexican art through its murals.
This government building is just as beautiful in the inside as it is in the outside.

(Translated by Google) The history of the Aguascalientes government palace is fascinating, here he recovered the information from the INAH Media Library: 👇🏼 The work began to be built in 1665 when Bernarda Salado, original owner of the land, made an exchange of land with the parish priest Pedro Rincón de Ortega, who had the purpose of building a home for the heirs of the mayorazgo. The construction was completed in the 18th century by José Rincón Gallardo, grandnephew of the parish priest, who was the first person to own the mansion that belonged to the Rincón Gallardo family until the third half of the 19th century, when José María Rincón Gallardo sold it to him. The property went to a niece and later passed into the hands of Pedro Oviedo. The building functioned as the headquarters of the Mesón de la Unión in 1842 until after thirteen years when the heirs of Oviedo sold the building to the Aguascalientes City Council, who, in turn, sold it to the State Government in 1856. The building has suffered a series of changes over time and the needs of the rulers in turn. Jesús María Chávez (governor from 1944 to 1950) began an expansion of the building that later Luis Ortega Douglas (governor from 1956 to 1962) continued with the work begun. The arrangements ended during the governorship of Enrique Olivares Santana (governor from 1962 to 1968). (Translated by Google) An exceptional architectural work. Its arches give it an interior space full of balance, beauty, and majesty. Art everywhere at an unmatched level. The frescoes adorn the walls with a painting talent that leaves one speechless. This harmony allows us to discover both Mexican history and work activities. You have to take the time to admire that palace. Raising your eyes leaves even more pleasure in discovering the ceilings. It's good that the government allows the public to enter and walk, going up and down the stairs on the roof of that exceptional palace. Thank you so much (Original) Una obra arquitectural excepcional. Sus arcos le dan un espacio interior todo de equilibrio, de belleza, de majestad. Arte por todos lados a un nivel inigualable. Absolutely loved our visit here. We came only for the Temazcal. 90 minutes for 2 including clorofila (tea for hydration) and coffee body scrub was about $50usd. We had a relaxing experience and our skin felt baby smooth for several days following our time here. They have changing rooms and showers which were great. Be sure to bring your own towel and shampoo. Robes can also be rented for a fee. Highly recommend.

I have been coming here for almost 15 years and have had a fantastic experience but this last one was horrendous. Normally the service is above average and very attentive but this last time it took nearly 35 minutes to get a drink and they failed to return with a second order that we placed. I tried to look for waiters/waitresses and they literally ignored me and acted like they didn’t hear me. I will always give a place a second chance and I will update my experience on my next trip here.

Enjoyed the Temazcales with my family of five. We got to experience an unforgettable memory together. I would definitely come back. The massages were amazing 10/10 highly recommend. Also look more into the services they offer. It is kid friendly. But if you're looking for that romantic feeling then I'd suggest to go alone.

We spent a whole weekend here and we loved it ! It is on the pricey side but worth it. Our favorite part no doubt was the pool and the pool bar.

Temazcales: you will sweat from every orifice in your body, and it feels amazing. It does get intense, but its relaxing. After 1.5 hours of sweating, went for an hour massage. Ofelia was my masseuse and she was amazing. Explained I had a bad shoulder and she left that alone. She allowed me to enjoy the massage, very little interaction which allowed me to completely relax and fall asleep. Truly relaxing! What they do need is additional help in the office upon checkout because it was busy and there wasn't sufficient help. The atmosphere is relaxing, the massages are great, and the staff is nice. Ojalá y pueda regresar para poder disfrutar de los temazcales, gracias!

Very nice place to go with your couple, i liked what they did on the poolside with the jacuzzis and the little waterfalls on the side, the only thing was a bit under my expectations was the food. Besides that the spa is also a very nice addition to your vacation
