Interesting history. There is a nice little church. Kids can ride a pony. There is a $6 tour you can take of the old house. The kitchen and rooms are moderately interesting. Lots of nice nuts and candy based on nuts. The road in /out is not fully/recently paved near the end.

A unique little church tucked away in the middle of this Rancho. Very appealing to the eye as it's beauty lies within the parishioners. As I tour through different places in Mexico the first place I go is to the church. It defines the city or town and this church says the town is poor but it people are rich in spirit and quality of life. Religion is big here and that's what makes this town so beautiful. They may not have much but what they have they are willing to share. This is a place that will greet you with open arms.

Cathedral Basilica of San Juan de los Lagos

Catholic cathedral
Sights & Landmarks
Grand church dating back centuries with twin spires, a dome & lavish interiors with marble columns.
You have to love this church it has so many loyal people that come here everyday to pray and to ask la Virgen de los Lagos for miracles, and the structure so beautiful 😍
Maria C — Google review
Beautiful place to visit day and night. Lots of venders during the day just be careful they will try to push products on you sometimes, but besides that it was great. Plenty of delicious food and drinks nearby. There are no free bathrooms so keep some coins on you, prices vary but a few 5-10peso coins should be enough. They do give bare minimum toilet paper also so bring some extra with you. At night most of the shops selling items close but the food stands and restaurants stay open. It’s so beautiful at night and families generally are still there hanging out . Honestly it’s a beautiful place that you must experience yourself
Anthony G — Google review
Beautiful church, the place is very clean and you can get holly water at the entrance no cost just donations All place around is nice to buy souvenir or clothes or jewelry

We had the the immense pleasure of attending Mass on a special day. The energy and spirit in that Mass rivals many holy sites around the globe. It was amazing. Something that we won’t forget any time soon.

It's a very beautiful place to visit. Lots of vendors outside the church selling all kinds of stuff both retail and wholesale. Make sure to try the cajetas with tequila
Eli — Google review
The cathedral is so beautiful, magical, every detail is amazing! There are so many people all the time, I’d recommend coming in the morning.

I have been here before. If you're Mexican and Catholic and you believe in la Virgen de San Juan de Los Lagos, you know what this church means to us. My mother taught me to believe in la virgen. I had to go and pay my respects to her. It was a beautiful day, and the church wasn't crowded. It made it that much more special. My 10 year old grandson loved the church.

Mundo A

Temporarily Closed
Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Mundo A is an excellent destination to escape the summer heat. The water temperature was not overly cold, contrary to some reviews that stated otherwise. While compared to American water parks it may be slightly cooler, it still provided a refreshing experience. However, there were a few downsides such as certain attractive slides being closed and the wave pool lacking impressive waves.
This place is amazing. We had a great time at minimal cost. There is a store on site for those last minute necessities, as well as a food shack - or you can bring in your own picnic. The prices are all around economical. The staff are super friendly and helpful. From very young child to older adult, you will have a great time. The water slides are awesome!
Javier O — Google review
Great spot to beat the summer heat. Water was not too cold (other reviews I've read said the water was cold -- compared to American water parks, it's the same. Compared to some other hot-springs-fed water parks it is cooler, but it felt very good and refreshing to me). My only complaints would be that several of the coolest looking slides were not open and the wave pool had pretty anemic looking waves. The only food options I saw were packaged foods like chips and candy; they did have beer, pop and water but no fresh hot food that I could see. Other than that, great spot. We went on a Saturday when it was 85F and it was not crowded and easy to get a table in the shade. Cost was 95 pesos per person, and 40 pesos to rent a two-person tobogan for the day which I recommend!
Diana R — Google review
This water park has good location, it does have a few problems number 1 water is very cold so if you're ok with cold water dip in! The women's restrooms were very dirty other than that it has nice installations and parking is ok also, they play good music one pool area as well also you can't take alcoholic beverages in they'll make you leave them at the gate but you can purchase alcohol inside.
Lizet M — Google review

Isla de Mezcala

Island
Nature & Parks
This is a very interesting place to visit, lot of history, very easy to get there and not expensive at all.
Ever E — Google review
Self guided tour it's an amazing place with lots of history
DarkLord A — Google review
This is an amazing trip! It is well worth the drive and the cost for hiring a guide and boat. I live in Chapala, and my family came to visit for Christmas. We drove to Mezcala (about 45 minutes) and just hired the first guy that came up to us. He was young, but was born and raised in Mezcala, so knew the history of the island very well - and spoke quite good English. There were 6 of us total, and the cost for him and the boat was $1200 pesos. We tipped him extra, because he was so helpful and made sure my mom (who has had knee surgery and doesn't do well with hills or uneven ground) went slow and rested. He took us pretty much everywhere, explained all the important things, and answered all the questions we had. Note: there is a steep hill from the dock to where the ruins are, and the ground is uneven most of the way through. I highly recommend hiking boots. This was a lot of fun, very interesting, and is a reasonably short trip - we were only there for about 90 minutes, and the boat ride is about 15 min each way. I'm sure we had wanted to explore more, our guide would have been happy to accommodate us. If you like history, make sure you add this trip to your list!
Amy B — Google review
Not recommended if you got cat allergies. Definitely bring hiking shoes, water bottle and a hat yes there are restrooms. Didn't see if they sold food so would recommend to go with full tummy
Crystal N — Google review
The walk around the island was interesting. Hard to see the whole th8ng in an hour but you can pay the Boatman extra to wait. Also a guided tour is available.

(Translated by Google) An interesting and beautiful place to visit. To get here, you must do it by boat or with a guide. When you arrive at the island, you can visit the fort and hike either on a trail or cross-country. Whatever the way, be careful because depending on the season, you can find many scorpions. There is the possibility of camping but you have to communicate with a guide from the town of Mezcala since the island is protected. If you're lucky, you'll find a small stall selling drinks and snacks, it's not always there. If you have a car, you must park it in the town of Mezcala and mention that you are going to the island Great place to visit, amazing sunset and sunrise (Original) Un lugar interesante y bonito para visitar.

I enjoyed the park. However, when we entered, we asked the man if we can park ahead instead of parking in the entrance and the man said yes. So when we left we couldn’t leave the park, because the man put a chain at the entrance. What’s the point of telling us that we can park ahead and not keep your word? There were 2 other cars behind us who couldn’t get out the park.

Very beautiful atmosphere. It's very clean to walk around and a lot of pop up shops to buy cute little trinkets. There are also several food options wether it's to rat or buy some delicious snacks. The water of course is a little mirky, like pond water since it is a lagoon. Overall great place to sight see and enjoy a couple of hours.

Great place for a walk or a date. Super chill and Romantic. Kids playing people enjoying eachothers company a walk by the Lake Chapala. Best if you go between 4-8 pm the sun set is great.
David P — Google review
Easily the nicest Malecon on the Lake Shore Stretching for about a third of a mile on Lake Chapala's western end, Malecón de Jocotepec is home to a great many vendors of food, souveniers, and knick knacks. The adjacent grove has been utilized as a playground and picnic area, complete with bbq pits and picnic tables, while boat rides are available at the pier. Ample parking is also available. If you're going to spend an afternoon by the lake, this is the place to do it.
Sasch M — Google review
It is well-planned, and well-designed. It was lovely to find so much parking. If you need to use the bathroom, it costs 5 pesos. Very clean bathrooms. There is a lot of Flora and fauna. Beautiful scenery and lots of little places to have snacks and drinks. Must see! One more thing there is a small, handmade sign that says "malecon". Don't miss the sign.

I Loved it. Highly recommend. Very educational. Prices are very affordable. The zoo is very complete, it has nimal interactions, an aquarium, and so much more!!!
Nilda P — Google review
Best zoo ever! It has a safari experience, a lifting chair and train ride that takes you around the zoo. I loved that it's very clean and has beautiful scenery everywhere you look. If you miss the hours to feed the bigger animals, you can go to the deers section and feed those instead. They are not encaptured and roaming wildly free. This zoo also has a farm area, where you can see, feed, brush, and pet horses and goats. It is a very big zoo, so plan on spending the whole day there, especially if you are walking through it all. I enjoyed that we went on a weekday avoiding the busy crowds. I was very impressed and my child loved it too! We can't wait to go back!

Zoo was big and pretty the ride that takes you above the animals was really cool and so was the safari ride! If you love animals you should really check it out

Hospicio Cabañas, located in Guadalajara's historic center, is a renowned 18th-century complex that has transitioned from a facility for the needy to a hub of art and culture. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it now houses the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, showcasing an extensive collection of contemporary Mexican artworks, including pieces by Jose Clemente Orozco and French artist Daniel Buren.
I highly recommend anyone coming to Guadalajara to make a visit to this museum. Tuesdays are free. The murals in the chapel are breathtaking and should not be missed. As well, there are several exhibition rooms that showcase a variety of art and genres.

A mixed bag. Tickets are affordable and available, there is hardly a line to enter the place. The interior houses a few photo galleries, with rotating expositions, and not much else. The central building with it's high vaulted ceilings and frescoes is the main attraction. It is peaceful though and at times you will find yourself alone in this huge complex.
Bobby C — Google review
Return visit a decade plus later and the Orozco murals still impress. Beautiful location and peaceful hideaway from the bustling crowds. Bonus: Tuesday entry was free so you can donate more to charity
Scott N — Google review
Really dont like rating so low but besides the history of the building there are few unimpressive exhibits. Orozco murals are good, if cost was lower perhaps 2 stars. Didn't understand massive historical building, nice courtyards, yet so little to see for 110 pesos. Was a large group of important people back of building closed off didnt help the experience.

A must visit place in Guadalajara. With it's long history as an hospice and culture space this colonial jem helds different contemporary art exhibitions and one of the mos extraordinary murales in México. You could easily spend 2 or 3 hours walking around the different galleries. A visit to the museum store is also recommended.

Teatro Degollado stands as a stunning example of neoclassical architecture in Guadalajara, Mexico, and is a true cultural gem in the heart of Jalisco. This magnificent theater not only showcases exquisite design but also serves as the home for the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra. It plays host to an array of significant cultural events, including the National Traditional Mariachi Encounter and the Cultural Festival of May.
Very beautiful, amazing theatre. Orquesta Filarmónica de Jalisco had a wonderful concert. Really unforgettable experience for us.
Ari L — Google review
The teatro Degollado is a mid-19 century jewel built in 1856-1866. It has gone through many renovation throughout the century. It was originally called teatro Alarcón, in honor of the classical playwright Juan Ruiz de Alarcón. After the Reform wars(1857-1861) the governor Pedro Ogazon changed the name to Santos Degollado, former governor and general who died in battle in 1861. Most of the renovations of the theater were done to improve the interior design and reinforce the roof of the building. Between 1953-1959 artist Roberto Montenegro designed and crafted the mosaic of Apollo and the Nine Muses on the theaters pediment. 16 Corinthian columns support the pediment. The theater is now home of the Jalisco Philharmonic and the place of high artistic performances. Book your private tours of Guadalajara with me! And let’s explore Guadalajara together! Guadalajara Cathedral, a grand 16th and 17th-century structure, houses the relics of St. Innocent. The cathedral is located in a neighborhood dominated by historical landmarks such as the Governor's Palace and the Hospicio Cabanas. The latter was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its original chapel adorned with striking apocalyptic murals by artist Jose Clemente Orozco.
Beautiful breathtaking church! I visit often and every time I am always in awe of its beauty. The mass is beautiful and the acoustics of the church make the mass service more amazing.
Evelin G — Google review
An amalgamation of architectural styles with much history relative to most buildings in the Americas. The icons in the cathedral are sometimes more bloody in depiction than other churches I have visited. Greater emphasis on Mary in churches and cathedrals here, congruent with the attempt to overlay pagan deities with saints and Holy Mothers. There is another separate church attached. This part of the city is very walkable and Guadalajara’s devotion to the arts is admirable

Catedral Basílica de la Asunción de María Santísima remains central to Guadalajara where it has stood since the 17th century. Still architecturally stunning despite fires, age and earthquakes the capitol's center of worship is a must-see from the detailed pulpit to crypts below. Home to the relics of St. Innocent, expect large crowds during times of worship.

It's a large and imposing building that I wouldn't exactly call beautiful. The architecture seems eclectic, and the towers seem out of place withe rest of the building there are quite a few beggars and questionable characters hanging out in front of the church. Other than that, a nice edifice, just not the nicest.

The Templo Expiatorio del Santísimo Sacramento is a remarkable neo-Gothic church in Mexico, known for its Italian mosaics, stained glass windows, and a clock tower. Designed by Adamo Boari, the construction of this historic church took 75 years to complete due to disruptions caused by the Mexican Revolution. Despite being a popular tourist spot, it offers visitors quiet corners for reflection and tranquility within its large premises.
Free to enter. A very beautiful gothic style church. It feels like you are entering a majestic and divine forest. Wonderful place to pray and connect with God for believers. It wasn’t very busy when we went as well so it was incredibly serene.

Such a beautiful church. Do yourself a favor and assure you come here. If you can talk your way into the catacombs downstairs too, it will make an experience you won't soon forget. If you can't, I've added lots of photos. There is a small show outside when the hours turn. Make time to peruse the surrounding areas. Open from 8am to 5pm 7 days a week. It's ok, the place is really pretty. They take credit cards, serve omellets for breakfast at a very good price. The restaurant doesn't open until 10am, it takes 20 minutes to get your food. You can bring your own food or order food and get it delivered. Beware, though, you will be charged $90 pesos as a re- entrance fee to go outside and get the food at the entrance. They have no ice, no fountain drinks, and no cold drinks. They sell an 11 lb bag of ice. The bathrooms are clean, but there are no paper towels to dry your hands with. They were doing maintenance during the whole time we were there, which was 8am to 5pm. They were using a chainsaw to take down a bunch of trees ning so it was noisy.

Awesome park with family/or amigos. Pretty big spacious park with themes, pretty awesome water slides and low pool with waves. Across are some picnic tables under shade, so if you go bring food, even meat to grill. Just take into account these are natural warm springs areas so the water is slightly warm, not so refreshing but still feels good to cool off a bit. The water slides bit rough but that’s common water slides. Various sizes, and steepness. There’s a store for basic food items and dressing rooms in case you didn’t wear bathing suit upon arrival with showers for afterwards. Just make sure you don’t wait till last minute cause of the long lines!! Overall, satisfied with my experience since there’s ramps and pretty easy to move around with my minor mobility issues. I think most expensive out of water parks here, but with most diverse attractions and space. They close at 6 and turn off water almost immediately. It was nice to return after my childhood memories

Zona Arqueológica Teuchitlán, also known as Guachimontones, is a captivating archaeological site located just an hour's drive from Guadalajara. Dating back to 300 BCE, this pre-Columbian gem features remarkable circular pyramids that set it apart from other historical sites. As part of a UNESCO World Heritage site that includes the famous Tequila region, it's an ideal destination for a day trip.
Beautiful site, well maintained. Be aware it is a long steep walk up the hill to the site. Worth it, but bring a water bottle. Hand Craft vendor offerings were a disappointment, but the ancient site was beautiful and the museum was great.

Just visited the incredible Guachimontones archaeological site near Teuchitlán, Jalisco! These circular pyramids are unlike anything else in Mexico and a truly amazing sight to behold, sitting at the base of the majestic Tequila volcano. This site was amazing. Get a guide who knows the area to take you on a tour. You have to arrange this ahead of time but if you ask enough people you'll be able to find someone. Our guide worked in excavation at the site for 20+ years so he knew what made it special and he shared culturally significant information. The museum was good but we definitely got to see the inside works by having a guide. Tip: if you're not in decent shape, or if you're traveling with young children or older adults, ask at the museum about getting a ride to the site. It's not a long walk but it's very steep, there's no shade, and nowhere to sit down.

Arrived Saturday at 4pm and it was plenty of time to explore. $30MX per adult. There are very clean bathroom facilities by the parking and an air conditioned museum that presents a 15 minute documentary. Highly recommend to go in the museum before walking to the pyramids. There is a 15 minute incline walk up to the pyramids, be warned. Wear comfortable shoes and depending on the time of day it can get really hot. It was very interesting and it deserves a visit.

Parroquia Santiago Apostol is a stunning baroque church located in the central plaza, featuring a single nave structure built with reddish-brown volcanic stone sourced from a nearby volcano. The 17th-century building boasts elegant stained-glass windows and houses the remains of Santo Toribio Romo Gonzalez, the patron saint of immigrants. The church exudes character with its imperfections adding to its charm.
There is a sweet scent in the air. It was Friday night and there was a mass taking place. There was a woman who was leading the worship. It appeared to me that most everyone present was a local. The building itself is beautiful , it does have much character and some of the imperfections give it much of its patina. The remains of Santo Toribio Romo Gonzalez the patron saint of immigrants are kept there. Outside the church are vendors and lovers and families. Food is delicious.

Fábrica La Rojeña, located in the town of Tequila just 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara, is Latin America's oldest distillery dating back to 1798. It is owned by Jose Cuervo, Mexico's largest tequila maker. The distillery offers guided tours that provide insight into the process of making tequila. Visitors can witness the operations and learn about the production firsthand.
Fábrica La Rojeña in Tequila is an absolute must-visit if you're exploring the town! This is the birthplace of José Cuervo, and the tour is both informative and fun. The guide was fantastic, walking us through every step of the tequila-making process with clarity (thankfully, they had mics and speakers to make it easy to follow even in the louder areas). The highlight for me was the tasting at the end—splurging on the tasting package is totally worth it. I had no idea tequila could have so much depth and flavor! The ambiance is lively and authentic, and the whole experience feels like a deep dive into Mexican culture. There’s no pressure to buy, but the exclusive tequilas at factory prices are tempting. Whether you’re a tequila fan or just curious, this is one of those tours you shouldn’t skip. Just show up, and they’ll take care of the rest. Cheers to an unforgettable experience!

A truly beautiful tequila distillery nestled in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Tequila. The tour we joined was incredibly informative, offering a clear understanding of the tequila distilling process, and we got to taste a variety of tequilas, which was a fantastic highlight.
Seth M — Google review
We spent 4 hours at the Jose Cuervo distillery learning all about the distilling process, tasting different tequilas, learning how to drink tequila, blending our own tequila and, finally, lunch. Alfredo, our guide, also took us through Jose Cuervo's and tequila's history as well as the controls around the whole agave and tequila production process. A really good tour.

Brilliant! 100% don't miss!! So many sites on the internet say this place is only open certain days. If the review you read is more than 5 minutes old l, forget it. This town is evolving and distilleries like this are pretty much open everyday. Just show up and ask for a tour. I have been to Mexico about 20 times and my favorite thing is to visit small unique towns. Tequila is an incredible place if you want authentic Mexican culture, food, kind people, and good vibes. But this town has one extra thing, tequila!!! La Rojeña is where the José Cuervo magic happens. The tour is completely informative, explaining the tequila making process in detail, and at the end (if you pay the extra pesos for the tasting package, a MUST in my opinion) you get a view into tequila flavors and nuance that I never knew existed! Trust me, stop reading this review and just go there! The tasting at the end is amazing! It was absolutely brilliant! Our guide (sorry, can't remember her name) was perfect. At each stop, though the factory is loud, she had a mic connected to Bose speakers so you could hear every word (I did the English speaking tour). At the end you can buy special made tequilas at factory prices. Absolutely no pressure to buy, but a good deal all the same! I am fairly cynical when it comes to touristy things, this is a 100% don't miss!!!

Fun and informative tours! We did the classic plus the extra tasting. Our guide spoke great English, was incredibly knowledgeable, and fun to spend an hour with. You get to see quite a bit of the factory and drink 3 strong shots before even starting the tasting so be prepared to consume a good amount of tequila. Would recommend to a friend.

If you enjoy drinking low-quality, industrial tequila loaded with artificial additives, then this is the place for you! Otherwise, I strongly recommend visiting La Fortaleza, Cascahuín, or Casa Atanasio, just a few of the family-owned distilleries that still honor the true tradition of tequila making.

From the video at the beginning of the tour to the tasting at the end this experience was well worth the 400+ pesos we spent. Our guide was amazing! The tequila was palate changing. Would go again in a heart beat.

We had a tequila tour in English and there was only another couple with us so it was quite a private tour. We visited the guava field and watched how the plants get harvested. We visited the distillery and had some tequila shots. It was a good tour but for my taste the tour guide could have explained a little bit more or could have taken more care about us. During the drive to the field and back she didn’t talk to us at all and didn’t try to entertain us or give us some information about tequila. That’s why I only give 4 stars.

We discovered Casa Sauza by accident, and it was a fantastic experience. The grounds and garden are immaculate, and the ambiance is peaceful and serene. We felt and were treated like royalty by the staff, and the food and drinks were amazing. We started with house made salsa and chips, and I ordered a Sauza margarita rimmed with Tajin. Next, we ordered a tuna tartare dish and a wrapped tuna dish that touched every sensory signal on our taste buds. Lord willing, I will be back very soon. The next time, I will plan on spending two full days in this Pueblo Magico. I feel like we just touched the surface of this town, and there are many memories left to be made!

I was in Tequila, so I had to check this place out! My significant other and I walked here in anticipation for some tequila history! We walked past the entrance and the view made me instantly feel as if I was in a garden. It was quiet and calm. After that area, we ended up at Los Recuerdos De Sauza. We purchased the Perseverancia tour. The tour guide walked us to La Constancia for the first part of the tour. Once we arrived, we had to put on a helmet to enter the building. That was interesting. It was basically a large barrel room. We were told about the process and then given a sample of Sauza Blue Agave Hacienda Tequila Gold. I thought it was smooth and easy to handle. After we left, we headed not too far to “La Perseverancia”. This was where a lot of moving parts took place. It was interesting to absorb what went on here. We were given a sample of Sauza Blue Agave Hacienda Tequila Silver. This one brought some heat! It was strong, but casual and tasty. Our last thing to do was to make our own Cantarito. This was an exciting experience, especially since I’ve only had one Cantarito ever prior to this experience. The process was fun! The drink ended up being pretty good. I got to keep the cup, so that practically worked out as a souvenir for me! The tour guide was amazing and friendly! She explained everything thoroughly during the tour. Overall, this place was worth the stop for me. I enjoyed how things seemed to be spread out widely and that we had to walk a lot. I would love to come back here someday. Date of visit: 10/01/2024

An intriguing and mysterious site showing the predominant Olmec style of prehispánica structures at a 2.5 hr drive from Puerto Vallarta in the state of Nayarit take note of different time zone when traveling here with an admission cost of approximately 5 dlls And around 60 dlls total in tolls is a must-see for anyone interested in History or Anthropology. The predominant Ecatl Quetzalcóatl diametric structure contains intriguing and meticulous cross-like ensembles of unknown use. Some of these are in areas that cannot be for any current explainable reason, but aesthetics, although, seem to have had a function since they are pipe-like and placed underneath the base of the structure. The temple of columns shows 3 small stairways that differ in style, most likely used in ceremonies by members of different ranks or priesthoods. Some of the structure's interior bases contain plentiful remains of shattered pottery and obsidian chips, most likely offerings during the ceremony.

Neat site. the structures are low and can climb up to all of them, except Templo Redondo, which is the highlight of the site.
Connie W — Google review
A hidden treasure. Entrance not marked, you needed to know where to go. Entire site clean and well maintained. A knowledgeable guide who could explain the structures and share Aztec history would be welcome. Come prepared with comfortable shoes and sun hat or umbrella. It will be amazing to see this place in ten years if there is appropriate funding. Right now, anyone can walk in and wander and pick up shards or obsidian artifacts. There were two women who were maintaining the site. Unfortunately, no security.

I wish there could be more detail for each ruin. Not enough detail of the history of the place. For what is available, it's very clean and well maintained.

Don’t forget your water bottle. Small archeological site. Check open & close times & days.

Best Park in Tepic! Great for Family Picnics, activities, or just want to gat away and get lost in nature. All kinds of things to do. From the train to the jogging track that goes all around the park, or creative sculpture painting with the family or by yourself. It's fun for everyone and safe.
Jonathan M — Google review
The park is huge and plenty to do. Great place to spend the day. Enjoy a train ride around the park.

Best park for family fun, sports training, and simply hanging out! Number one park in Tepic!

Lot to see and do. Nice running track. Tepic and area should be proud of this Park. Was also here for free Mother's day concert. Well presented, good live music and good time had by all.

This place is nice and wonderful. There is many things you can do here. There is also lots of little stands where you can buy snacks and food. Though, most things were dirty and sticky. Hense the 3 star.

The kids always have fun at La Loma! This time we painted figurines!

Excellent place to visit with your kiddos. Plenty of space to run and so many playgrounds. When the weather feels so hot and humid in this place you forgot about that insane hot weather outside the park😃

A good place to expand a day with your family, you can buy snacks but if planning to expand all day bring your own food

Clean, quiet, elderly and kids frendly
Luz H — Google review
My review works best for vessel based visitors. That said we have been visiting this area since 2013. There are several palapa restaurants on the Las Islitas road. You can come by boat, car or taxi or collectivo taxi. From San Blas it is only 15 minutes or so. From anchor in the bay, aim for the big green building on the beavh. We like to visit Varo and Alicia at Playa Hermosa restaurant. It's just west of the big green building. A hint is to sit at a table up by the kitchen to avoide the jejenes, a little... Food and drinks are excellent! (Shrimp cevichi, huevos rancheros, platanos con lechera). You are dining in a little piece of paradise!

Playa El Borrego is a popular destination, especially for experienced surfers, with its two-mile stretch of fine golden sands. Visitors can take a quick boat ride to explore the natural beauty of Isla del Rey. The beach is known for its clean sand and calm waves, making it perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. There are several restaurants in the area offering delicious food, and Stoners Surf Camp provides surf lessons and board rentals.
This is a very long and wide sandy and relaxing beach with very few people. If only there were fewer mosquitos. Still worth visiting
G W — Google review
Great beach, fantastic waves most days, delicious restaurants. Federico y Lucia is my favorite but they are all great. Stoners Surf Camp is a killer place to go if you want surf lessons or need to rent a board.

Nice beach with a lot of restaurants the beach is not recommended for child's big waves

MOTHER OF GOD DO NOT GO HERE. THE SAND FLEAS WILL EAT YOUR SOUL. BRING MOSQUITO SPRAY WITH DEET IF YOU WANT TO SURVIVE HELL.

(Translated by Google) It's a quiet and very pleasant beach. The current and waves are strong, making it only recommended for those who can swim well. The access is a bit long, and if you're not careful, you'll have to walk through a restaurant. There are a lot of mosquitoes. (Original) Es una playa tranquila y muy agradable, la corriente y el oleaje es alto y solo recomendable para gente que sabe nadar bien. El acceso es un poco largo y si no se está atento se tiene cruzar un restaurante. Hay muchos moscos.
