HORRIBLE !!! LETS FREE THESE ANIMALS ! It's so sad to see wild animal in cage, no space in the middle of the city. Do you want to live like that ? It's not a place for a tiger or a bear... humans are so bad...
Jérémy C — Google review
It's totally free. Family and friendly. You can see lot's of exotic animals, kind of a zoo. Must wear comfortable clothing and shoes because you have to walk a lot. Perfect for spending your free time. Better watch out and find out what the trip hides! (For example, you can take a look at the locks of love and friendship placed on the bridges).
Yeye H — Google review
This site is awesome for tourists. You can walk through the park and will find a multitude of animals like lions, tigers, monkeys, and turtles. Best of all, it’s completely FREE! :)

Orizaba is a wonderful place for so many reasons. The river is one of them, just awesome to watch
Ralph S — Google review
This is the end of the riverside walk, admiring the murals and the various animal enclosures, around 3 km one way from the teleferico area and double that for returning in the other direction on the opposite bank. Pedestrian bridges as well as vehicular bridges ( with steps to reach them) cross the river at frequent intervals. Not to be missed on a visit to orizaba. Here is where one finds the tiger, hippo. Some animal enclosure enroute are too tiny, wish they had more space.

Muy lindo el rio y los animales, no es recomendable benir en tempradas de fin de año. It gets really packed, and the lines are very long. Be sure to bring an umbrella or buy one at the gift shop for $150.00 pesos about $8 dollars. Be sure to bring good walking shoes.
Dayra G — Google review
I recommend going up and coming down by cable car. The view from the gondola is fantastic. Looking at the queue, it seems like there's a long wait at the valley station. The price per trip is 35 pesos.
Marius R — Google review
Lines took over an hour. And then half hour to rerun at the top. Ride is super short. Idk if it’s worth the wait to be honest. Only if you have extra time to spend
Danny G — Google review
Killer views of such a incredible area. Very kind & helpful staff working the summit. The hike back down was fun, but quite slippery from the mud from recent rain. Took us about an hour to finish the hike. Worth the money

The National Puppet Museum, located in a renovated building on the zocalo, features an impressive collection of dolls and marionettes from around the world. The museum offers a fun and educational experience for visitors of all ages, with informative guides and occasional puppet shows on weekends. While some visitors found the layout confusing, arrows on the floor help guide guests through the exhibits. Although photography inside is not permitted, many recommend this unique museum as a must-visit attraction.
National Puppet Museum is a Jewel. It is hard to imagine the quantity and quality of the pieces on exhibition and the complexity and imagination to operate some of them

The puppet show was very entertaining, the actors use all their talent to present a funny play.. the crowd was very happy and the price certainly wasn't expensive, only 40 presos. Widely recommended!

Wonderful collection of the puppet from the past. Great staff. Clean and very well lit. The flow was confusing at times but there are arrows on the floor. I wish I could see them all in action. Highly recommend

The museum was closed (13 March 2021) because of the pandemic. There is a small souvenir shop attached to it that is open where you can buy some puppets and other gifts. Check with the Tourism Department office next door - they can give some recommendations on what's open and places to visit, as well as info on the surrounding areas.

Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan

Churches & Cathedrals
The Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan is a stunning church in Mexico, known for its beautiful Churrigueresque facade adorned with white stucco decorations and red tiles. It holds religious significance as the site where the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared in 1541. The main altar features her image, commemorating the apparition. The interior is decorated by indigenous artist Francisco Miguel, who spent 25 years adorning the altarpieces and chapel.
Extremely ornate. It’s bigger than it appears. A chapel is behind the altar - image of Mary impressed in a burned tree trunk after she appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541.
Auda G — Google review
The Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan is a must to visit when doing a pilgrimage in Mexico. First time I came here, there was no one else inside, yet I smell a heavy scent of Jasmine. It was my validation that Senora of Ocotlan indulged me with her Divine presence.
Ruby W — Google review
Hum. Beautiful architectural building, lots of history.

This church seems hidden but really as grandiose as the others The town seems far but worth visiting. Small town but the church is pretty awesome. The architecture is worth going there. Even the christmas tree has spirit. Made out of love.

PILGRIMAGE OF GUADALUPE Our Visit to the Fountain of Our Lady of Ocotlan which means Pine. Our Lady appeared in a Pine tree. There was an epidemic during that time called Cholera. People who were not sick helped the sick and brought water to them. This was after ten years Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to San Juan Diego. Our Lady of Ocotlan appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino led him to the fountain that heals the sick. The Franciscan friars followed Juan Diego Bernardino and they believed.
Olivia S — Google review
This is a really beautiful church, both inside and out. The feeling inside is akin to the Capilla del Rosario in Puebla, but on a humbler, more intimate scale. The facade seems to have been freshly restored as of March 2023. Try to see the room that's somewhat hidden behind the main altar. It is also lovely but may not be open at the time of your visit.
Tim T — Google review
Beautiful church. The rooms that can be entered through a "secret" door behind the altar have particularly amazing ceilings.

Chapel of the Rosary, St. Dominic’s Temple

Mentioned on
+17 other lists
Catholic church
Sights & Landmarks
Nestled within the historic Templo de Santo Domingo, the Capilla del Rosario is a stunning 17th-century chapel that captivates visitors with its opulent interior adorned in 24k gold stucco. Often referred to as The Golden House, this exquisite space showcases intricate details crafted from Talavera and onyx, creating an atmosphere of sheer elegance.
Even for the most jaded church visitor, this magnificent church and chapel is a marvel. Many of the shrines and chapels are lined with gorgeous, brilliant-blue talaveras. The main altarpiece is a Baroque wonder. However, the highlight is the main chapel, which is a vision of gilded Baroque magnificence.
Raymond L — Google review
There are churches, and then there are sanctuaries that glimmer — this is one of them. Hay iglesias, y luego hay santuarios que resplandecen — este es uno de esos. I always carry my faith with me wherever I travel, and La Capilla del Rosario in Puebla felt like coming home to reverence. This golden chapel is hidden within the Templo de Santo Domingo, yet once you step inside, the light, the gold, the art — it commands your full attention and your deepest prayer. Built between 1650 and 1690, it was the first chapel in Mexico dedicated exclusively to Our Lady of the Rosary. Because of its stunning gilded interior, the chapel has long been spoken of as the “Casa Dorada” — often called Puebla’s Eighth Wonder of the World. Every wall, every arch, every dome is adorned with gold leaf reliefs, cherubs, angels, vegetal motifs, aquatic imagery (fish, shells, waves) — a design that seems to whisper of sea and spirit. Below the paintings depicting the life of Mary, you’ll see Talavera tilework — each tile a bead in a giant rosary, framed by angels’ heads. At the heart of the chapel stands a statue of the Virgin of the Rosary, sheltered under a golden baldachin (ciprés), with Saint Dominic and Archangel Gabriel above — a vertical direction of prayer, faith, and intercession. Tradition holds that the Virgin of the Rosary also holds a special place in the hearts of mariners — the protector of those at sea. She is prayed to for guidance and safe passage over water — a fitting devotion in this chapel that evokes ocean motifs and divine presence. If you visit Puebla, don’t rush past this gem. Find a quiet moment inside, let the gold light wash over you, and whisper your prayers. It’s not only a monument of art; it’s a place where faith, history, and divine mystery meet. Hay iglesias, y luego hay santuarios que resplandecen — este es uno de esos. Michelle

It's an amazing church to visit. The Rosario chapel is perhaps one of the best examples of the Mexican baroque period. It's well restored and well kept. Worth your visit when in Puebla
Bruno L — Google review
Free admission to enter the church. It looks beautiful from the outside and must be from the inside. It is located quite central and easy to find by walking. Entrance accessible for wheelchairs.
Rita — Google review
A sumptuous chapel located inside the Church of Santo Domingo. You may pay 20 pesos for entry and its money well spent. There is always a line to see the pace because they are only allowing so many people at a time. Tee church is nice but the chapel is over the top, colonial baroque, with gold everywhere. Most impressive.
Bobby C — Google review
Magnificent, a must see, I'm no expert but its interior is so ornate it seems as much rococo as baroque. Either way, wow it is gorgeous.

This is an absolutely beautiful cathedral. It's free to visit and is fascinating inside and out. The twin bell towers and fine are fantastic architectural structures. But the design of the inside is fascinating. Near the main entrance it splits into two aisles with the organ in between, a big organ. Beyond that is the high altar with columns are statuary. But be sure to keep walking beyond the high altar. At the far end from the main doors is the resplendent Altar of the Kings.

Wheelchair accessible entrance/exit, but no restrooms here. FREE. Absolutely beautiful cathedral in Puebla. It's one of my favorites! It is one of the first temples of the Americas. The inside is covered in gold, so it is a beautiful site to see, welcome to all people. No flash photos or flash videos allowed. It is open on rainy days and shine! It has beautiful paintings and art on the walls, too. It is located in the town center and surrounded by many shops and restaurants.

Africam Safari is a wildlife conservation zoo in Puebla, Mexico, spanning 500 acres of diverse habitats. Founded by Carlos Camacho Espiritu in the 1970s, it houses over 450 animal species from around the world. Visitors can drive through open-air enclosures or join guided tours to see elephants, giraffes, rhinos, tigers, and more. The park offers educational experiences like tracking animals and picnicking with giraffes.
We had two cars in our party. Our family enjoyed every moment of this experience. We went on a Sunday. This park is so well thought out, it was very impressive. It did take us about 5 hours to get through but felt like it took 3 hours. You first go through the safari portion where the animals are running free in their own habitat. There are stops along the way for clean bathrooms, food, and places to get out of the car and stretch your legs. There are 3 stops along this adventure. The last stop is more of a traditional zoo. All the animals here were well taken care of which was so good to see. Highly recommend for good family fun!

I was impressed! My first Safari in life! It was amazing to see different animals so close 🐘 Such a beautiful family experience! Highly recommend 🌟 The only problem can be lots of visitors, so 🚗 cars drive very slowly and under the sun 🌞 it can be a tricky time with kids in a car! So I would choose time to enter wisely. Maybe not weekends if you have opportunity! Area with Lions is just Breathtaking! 🧡🦁

A super cool drive thru zoo. After you drive thru all the way, there is a walking experience where u get to see even more animals and insects. Such a cool experience for the kids. The animals looked very healthy and well taken care of. Such a delightful place, will come back!
Alex — Google review
Amazing, better than expected. The animals seem to be better treated that in most zoos and this haves a nice concept that makes it different than a normal zoo. Loved the Cows with gigantic horns

Such a phenomenal experience! I 10/10 recommend if you’re visiting to make this place a stop!

Go on a Monday, bring your own car and take as much time as you need driving through to see the animals. Staff are accommodating and understanding, not strict about poking your head out of sunroofs.

Ancient Ruins
The Zona Arqueológica de Cholula is a remarkable ancient Mesoamerican site featuring the impressive Piramide Tepanapa, which resembles a hill rather than a typical pyramid. The area includes extensive tunnels that run through the structure, offering visitors an eerie and fascinating experience. This archaeological zone encompasses excavated areas around the pyramid and its underground tunnels, accessible through a tunnel on the north side.
What a wonderful site! Great information is given about the pyramid, and it's stunning to see so up close what remains. I also trekked to the church at the top. The church and the view were amazing.
Sara G — Google review
I’m studying to be an archaeologist and this place blew me away. Created in stages, like the Maya and other mesoamerican cultures, the pyramid was fantastic and the surrounding ruins were beautiful. There is definitely more that can be revealed. The grassy area that you walk around in was really nice.
Elyjah W — Google review
After visiting the Cathedral on the hill, we opted to walk around the ruins of the Great Pyramid. What history and building technique. They added layers every 52 years and spans centuries. Not much left but still worth walking around.
Mind T — Google review
It's a very big pyramid mostly covered in dirt. It seems the few things that were excavated were not actually part of the pyramid. The tunnels perhaps would be interesting but were closed. Poor signage resulted in us ascending 300+ steps to get to a church, but have no view of the pyramid (nice city and volcano view, however). Seems the church is the bigger spectacle here.
Jeff Z — Google review
THE TUNNELS ARE CLOSED. YOU CANNOT GO INSIDE THE PYRAMID/TEMPLE AT ALL, SO YOU WILL SEE ALMOST NOTHING. If you are okay with that, you will pay $95 per person (it is more expensive than listed online) to only see a small amount of the top of it (the rest is underground). If it is a sunny day, you can climb one small part of the temple steps, but that's the coolest thing you'll experience here. If it's raining, that will be closed so there will be almost nothing to see. UNTIL THEY OPEN THE TUNNELS AGAIN, IF THEY EVER DO, I DO NOT RECOMMEND COMING HERE.
Al — Google review
Really cool to learn about the history and see the ruins. There are also great places to buy Souvenirs right by the ruins.
Kimberly F — Google review
Pyramid of Cholula I was incredibly excited to visit the largest pyramid in the world. Knowing that it’s only a 3.5-hour flight from where I live made it even more exciting. However, I was also very disappointed by the way we were treated. I asked at the museum if it was possible to enter the underground passages of the pyramid, and the man who attended me said he didn’t know what I was talking about and told me to just go into the museum. I asked again if there was access to the tunnels, and he raised his voice, saying he didn’t know what I was talking about and that I should go see the patios instead. His attitude was rude and arrogant, so we decided to leave. The site itself is beautiful, full of history, with stories of the gods, the customs of the ancient peoples of Mexico, and also of the new religion imposed by the Spanish. I would definitely visit Cholula again, but I would keep my distance from the government staff.
Gab B — Google review
The Cholula pyramid and archaeological zone was just ok. We went to Monte Alban a week prior in Oaxaca that was stunning so once we got to Cholula I didn’t feel like it was anything special. There was a huge line to get in the ruins and museums which we skipped. The tunnels under the pyramids are closed since COVID. There were also so many people packed in the main square that I really couldn’t take the pictures I wanted. We did climb to the top of the hill and go inside the church that was very pretty and had a great view of the city.

Ex-Hacienda de Chautla

Sights & Landmarks
Park
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Former 1700s farming estate turned public park, with a lake, castlelike mansion, trails & woodland.
The ex-hacienda de Chautla was absolutely beautiful and stunning. I had been wanting to go for the longest time and it was worth it. It’s situated on a lake that you can go fishing for trout, take a paddle boats, zip line or even eat at their restaurant. It’s such a peaceful place and very enjoyable just to walk around and see the view. You can easily bring your own food to have a picnic or there are food stalls right outside the entrance. The parking was very reasonable (57 pesos or approx $3 USD) and the admission fee was 45 pesos (approx $2.30 USD). Once you get in the castle they have a gift shop and take your picture that you can purchase later. I believe there are other parts of the hacienda on the property that we didn’t get to explore due to town restrictions but you could easily spend many hours here
Kelsey L — Google review
This place in very special for me! Not easy to get there though 🚗 so have been just once! The nature is so precious here, and there’s plenty of place to walk and observe! Perfect for a Day with family ☺️🌟 There’s a restaurant close to Hacienda. Dogs 🐕 just walk around the tables 🤣 We were having lunch outside. I recommend this for its beauty and absolutely stunning Nature! 🌳💦
Anastasia — Google review
The estate boasts a pleasant environment with affordable admission fees. Despite weekend crowds, ticket purchasing is quick with minimal queues. The expansive public parking area ensures convenient parking and swift entry. The estate features a large lake, while the estate itself is not vast. Visitors can access the entire estate by climbing stairs without extra charges, although there may be some wait time. The view from the top covers the entire estate. The only drawback is the narrow and potentially time-consuming staircase ascent, requiring caution and patience. Overall, a visit to this estate, like Puebla, is worthwhile for sightseeing – it's a place worth stopping by if you appreciate scenic views and tranquil surroundings.

OMG this place is beautiful. It reminds me of the movie The Notebook. Admission fee was about $50 pesos or $2.50 USD. There are many places you can take Instagramable pictures. There are ducks, a lake, the mission and beautiful fauna. You can also pay extra and ride a boat or fish. They have a small restaurant, a fishing club, a couple of souvenir stores and a few restrooms. You can also have a picnic if you come prepared.

Nice place to take a break, a couple of km off the puebla-mexico city highway. Entry fee of Adults 40 and children 10 pesos. Very quaint, great place to relax. Mind the hours, around midday is quite busy and complicated to visit the castle. You can bring your fishing rod, or picnic things. You pay 40 pesos to go in, and extras for fishing or drone pictures.

Beautiful place. Make sure you get a tour so that they can explain the history and importance of the place. You do have to walk quite a while but it is worth it. Also, there is great Mexican food outside of the lake.

Great place to stop by and take a break from the busy town of Atlixco. Lively town with lots to do, shop, and eat. In Atlixco you can find anything from clothes, shoes, children toys and fresh foods of all types. Decorated for the holidays as well, recommend to stay late to see the center light up

It was our special trip to Atlixco for Dia de los Muertos 🧡 Very crowdy though, but that’s because of the festival and a weekend 💀 We found a lovely restaurant with a balcony so that was a perfect choice to hide from heat and crowd and still enjoy the atmosphere of this Place! 🌿☺️ Worth visiting for sure!
Anastasia — Google review
The church in el Zócalo of Atlixco was once considered the most beautiful church in Mexico. The town itself is very colorful and most of the tourist attractions are just a few blocks away, we took a short tour in a small 6 seater tour bus at 60 pesos per person and they were very thorough covering the history of the town. We were also told by a local that we couldn't leave without trying their local speciality "cecina" which is a very thinly sliced steak cooked and cut in strips (for tacos). So we headed to the market, 2 blocks away from the Zócalo and had some delicious cecina tacos with nopales, fresh cheese and aguacate on blue, green and purple corn tortillas! We left with very fond memories of Alixco =)

Casual resort with dining & an outdoor pool, plus an amusement park with zip lines, a lake & a maze.
Cool place. Affordable and tasty breakfast buffet. Beautiful grounds, a variety of activities, or you can just walk around for free and enjoy nature and the beautiful colonial buildings. The hotel is, unfortunately, a complete eyesore. Otherwise it's a magnificent place

Great restaurant but would have liked the option to order a meal rather than pay for the Buffet. A wee bit on the pricey side but Great food none the less. Will come back another time to stay the night as tye rooms look comfortable.

The park around the hotel is nice; petting zoo, zip line, paddle boats and such. The restaurant serves a wide variety of foods and drinks that are very enjoyable. The noise from the fair across the street however is overwhelming, it starts at 8 pm (when the kids should be going down) and continues until after 10. The window coverings do not cover the window well with the exterior lights it make it seem like 8 am at 3am in the morning. Also a fan in the room would go along way, windows are small and don’t provide much air flow. Overall it is a good hotel-if the loud noise (music) was removed it would be much better.

Aince my last visit they added a lot of new stuff. The bird house is very nice and the lemur “King Julian” also very exciting. Unfortunately we ran out of time and could not see the museum of Sor Juana, since the guided tour is only every hour on the hour ! The park is very clean and really nice !

If you need to stay in a place in Amecameca, this is your spot. The location is very convenient and very beautiful. If you stay here, you get a package that includes a good amount of the amenities they offer, but you can purchase morefor a fairly reasonable price. There is no AC but as this is up in the mountains, it is pretty fresh so no need to worry about it being hot overall recommend this hotel. You’ll definitely enjoy it. The food was delicious. The staff in the restaurant and throughout the area are very become accommodating and kind.

I came here mainly to pet the capybaras, which they have two. The all access ticket price is quite steep at 650 pesos at the time of this review. But with that you have access to all of the animal attractions, including a young loin on your lap and the lemurs on your shoulder 😂

Beautiful location. Hotel room was warm when we arrived so we requested a fan which was promptly provided. It hailed in the evening and since I had the window open, some rain came inside but no problem… a guy with a mop and bucket appeared without delay and mopped it up. In the morning the sun rose right in the middle of the Iztaccihautl volcano … incredible since the clouds had blocked the view the night before and Popocatépetl was smoking and they both were white with snow. The grounds are well manicured making all activities pleasant. My favorite was the hacienda and volcano museum . A wonderful switch after a hot week in Mexico City.. the breakfast provided was plenty with fruit, sweet bread, coffee, eggs and small French breads .
Nancy B — Google review
To clarify, this is not a hotel. This is a very historic place in Mexico. I just wish more information was available in English. It is interesting to see a 400 year old building mixed with a petting zoo and zip lines but it makes it super fun to visit. The kids had a blast. Bathrooms were clean. People were friendly. The only downside is that they don't let you take pictures with some of the animals. The animal show was entertaining. The medical team was good. We had a small allergic reaction to one of the animal fur and the staff was responsive. Who knew one of us was allergic to rabbit fur. The volcano show was okay. Nothing extraordinary. They used strobe lights heavily and there was no warning for those with sensitivities.

Decent tourist attraction to visit. They charge 65 pesos (~$3.25 USD) per person to enter over 1.2 meters in height ( basically over 8 yrs). Place is runned down but it's a local Hotspot. They have small cafes inside or you can bring your own food. They have lockers and showers to rinse off.

A beautiful place that I've been visited since I was a little boy and sadly looks like the management hasn't updated it at all, the place looks neglected, very sad, I still like it a lot, please take care of it.

These old buildings are not cleaned regularly and don't get any maintenance. Everything inside is extra, like the table, chairs, and changing room. It's not that green, more like alsfalt than grass.

Great place to relax. Unfortunately, they do not have the same water pressure as before the 2017 earthquake. Still a great place to make memories. Aggressive swimwear vendors in front by ticket booth slightly damage the experience. The ice cream lady that is sometimes in front by the exit is the greatest however.

The place is gorgeous the water highly healthy the nature amazing, employees are very kind and nice guys. The facilities are absolutely neglected showers and toilets are completely disastrous.

The park is spacious, the pools are clean and there are a couple for all ages. However, since the last earthquake, the natural spring is just dropplets.

Simple and familiar, not an adventure water park. You can swim in the pool, bathe in sulfuric waters or chill in one of the green areas. Under reservation there are jacuzzis, dry and wet saunas and massages, and they aren't pricey. If you want to eat inside, there are small cafes and dinners, and they aren't expensive, but you can also BYO. Boost is sold inside, you can't bring it from outside.

Archaeological Zone Tepozteco

The Archaeological Zone Tepozteco features the ruins of a small Aztec temple dedicated to Tepoztecatl, the god of harvest, fertility, and pulque. The 10m-high pyramid is perched atop a sheer cliff at the end of a steep paved path. While not as large as other pyramids in Mexico, its location offers breathtaking panoramic views of the valley.
Tip: the iron fence and last part of this amazing hike closes every day at 16:00. The entrance, if you want to see the pyramid and the part with the most beautiful view costs 100 pesos and is free for children and elderly (60+). On Sunday it's free for all Mexicans. There is a huge difference in amount of people between weekends and weekdays, both experiences are worth it. If you like a lot of people, with music, high heels, alcohol and atmosphere, weekends are really cool! If you like the "nature" and chill vibe more, please consider a week day experience; you are welcome;)!

If you can go as early as possible (opening time is 9), it will be quiet and peaceful. It'll be so early that the markets at the beginning of the route won't be open yet. The hike up is challenging so you do need a basic level of fitness but it is so worth it. The pyramid is small but don't let that put you off. It's a piece of history which is preserved and tells us more about this world and for only 100 pesos entry, it's well looked after. The most beautiful part of this is the view that you are rewarded after your hike. Highlight of my time here.
Claire W — Google review
I had been eagerly anticipating the opportunity to write this review once I had the chance. Perhaps I wasn’t paying close enough attention, but it seemed like nowhere was it mentioned that the path to this archaeological site takes approximately two hours if you’re not particularly fit. It’s genuine rough terrain—true hiking. According to my data, to reach the summit where the pyramid is located, you need to ascend about 400 meters vertically, which is roughly equivalent to climbing a 130-story building on foot. So, please keep this in mind, and most importantly, it seems that, judging by the number of people there—including small children being carried and elderly individuals—very few are actually aware of what lies ahead. Well, now you know. As for the archaeological site itself, to be honest, it’s probably not worth the climb, at least not more than once. There are a lot of people, and the charm of a secluded mountaintop spot dissipates. However, the pyramid stands right on the edge of a cliff, and behind it is a steep drop, reminiscent of the scene in the movie “From Dusk Till Dawn,” where the bar is revealed to be an ancient temple, and vampires would toss bodies and cars down below. This could have served as a prototype for that scene in the film. You can climb onto the pyramid, by the way, but the archaeological zone itself isn’t all that impressive. I must say, the ascent was quite a surprise, and don’t forget that you also have to descend, which isn’t exactly easy either. Oh, and at the end, they’ll charge you 100 pesos for visiting the area, of course. Overall, it’s pretty cool; everyone takes photos and is happy they made it. Those still climbing can be encouraged as you descend. So, it’s alright.
Alex K — Google review
Really nice place! 90% of the hike has stairs, so as long as you have average condition, you should be able to safely hike this hill. I get why, but asking you to pay $100 mxn to see something you are already seeing (the pyramid-like construction) felt like it was not worth it (not complaining about the price, it is fair)
Arturo M — Google review
A beautiful place to visit the egg is very pleasant and the view from the top is stunning. I would recommend anyone to go there, the hike is a bit tough but it’s worth it. Take good shoes and water
Baptiste D — Google review
Beautiful hiking! The path to the pyramid is very demanding but the view from there is amazing. The site is not well maintained, there is no bathroom and a lot of trash. To access the site you need to pay MXN 100 and it only accept cash.
Junior C — Google review
The hike is strenuous, prepare in advance. Takes 3-4 hours to complete the whole trek. You will gain almost 2000 feet (600 meters) while going up. The trek is 1.4 miles (2 kms) one way. Keep 100 pesos per person, they take the entrance ticket just before the pyramid. Overall its a very nice hike with beautiful view at the top.
AMIYA D — Google review
Entry to the pyramid (and the beautiful view) closes at 3pm/15:00, but there are no signs to indicate that until you’ve gone all the way up. Bummer! It’s a beautiful hike otherwise, and you’ll get a good workout.

Zona Arqueológica Teopanzolco is a fascinating archaeological site located about 40 miles from Mexico City, showcasing the remnants of a 13th-century settlement. This impressive location features several ruined temples built on a sloping stone platform, reflecting the Aztecs' reverence for their ancestors and their architectural prowess. Although much of the original structure has suffered damage over time—especially after Spanish colonization—the site still offers an intriguing glimpse into history.
Nice place. Small but pretty. The cost of the ticket was 100$ Mexican pesos (5 Dollars). On Sundays it’s free. Were a hat for the sun and you can bring water or food.

Lovely little site in the middle of Cuernavaca. No longer can enter the pyramid after 2017 earthquake damaged the structure. Still loads of very useful information around the site. Not the most elaborate of archaeological sites. We weren't able to walk to the top of the largest platform. The site is still interesting enough to capture your imagination
Joel — Google review
This place is very beautiful to witness the prehispanic architecture design and informational guide explaining what they were used for. It provides 3 languages: Spanish, English, and Nahuatl writings to captivate the audiences attention. It's not a big park but not small, just enough to tour around the area. When I went there, the main temple, in the center and supposed to represent the templo Mayor (Main temple) in Tenochtitlan (Mexico city now), was off limits to go up. Probably due to the weather and human that greatly affected the pyramid, but still can go on other smaller ones.

The Museo Regional de los Pueblos de Morelos, located in the former residence of a famous conquistador, is now a history museum featuring pre-Hispanic art and Diego Rivera's murals. The museum showcases carved stone animals with explanations of their significance in pre-Hispanic culture, although all information is available only in Spanish.
A really nice museum with rooms devoted to different exhibits like prehispanic history with an obsidian spearhead and Olmec pieces, fossils, biodiversity and a wonderful Diego Rivera mural on the second floor. There are also nice benches and open air views of the city. If you primarily speak English, be sure to use the QR codes posted on a wall in each room for English translations of the descriptive text.
Lance H — Google review
The building itself is impressive even from a distance. It’s clear that Hernán Cortés wasn’t exactly a likable man—he had to fortify himself well. At the entrance, you'll find statues, but don’t expect to see Cortés among them. If you’ve spent even a little time in Mexico, you’ll know he’s not exactly a national hero here. Now, about the museum. The most important thing to note—there’s absolutely nothing from Cortés inside. Not a single artifact, not even a rusty colonial-era nail. Instead, the exhibition features a lot of small sculptures found in Morelos, along with an oddly large collection of so-called contemporary art. Judging by the exhibit titles, the idea was to merge indigenous art with modern vision—but it didn’t really work. The indigenous figurines and even a stone safe for valuables are interesting, but the contemporary pieces? Not at all. Some rooms still have murals from the early 20th century. Technically modern, but nearly a hundred years old by now. I noticed that some visitors found them engaging, but personally, I didn’t see much artistic value in them. The museum also has murals by Diego Rivera, but during my visit, they were under restoration and inaccessible. The best part of the visit? The balcony, which offers a great view of downtown Cuernavaca. Entrance costs 100 pesos, which feels a bit pricey for just five rooms and a couple of balconies. At least you can pay by card—that’s a plus.
Alex K — Google review
Everything is in Spanish. Normally I leave reviews in English but I want to make this clear to English speakers. It's worth a 5 star visit FOR THE MURAL ALONE. But just be aware that to fully enjoy the museum you'll need to read Spanish at a high level or use an optical translator. On the other hand, the crafts and artifacts are interesting to look at without Spanish. You can do the museum in about 30 minutes if you're not reading.
J C — Google review
Though well laid out,the museum was sparse of displays. Still enjoyed the walk through

Cultural landmark
The Robert Brady Museum, located in Cuernavaca, Mexico, is a captivating cultural venue housed in a historic structure known as The House of the Tower. This museum showcases the eclectic collection of American artist and collector Robert Brady, who fell in love with Cuernavaca and decided to make it his home. The museum features over 1400 pieces from Mexico and around the world, meticulously arranged alongside Brady's own creations.
Very interesting place. Full of wonderful artefacts from all over the world. If you are in Cuernavaca it’s a great place to go, very cheap, and there’s a cafe on site as well.

Very eclectic and beautiful gardens and swimming pool to enjoy. While you can't swim, you can imagine yourself living here and enjoying the wonderful weather. The hodgepodge of collected items from around the world will keep you interested for at least a little bit.

Fantastic art museum in a beautiful restored colonial mansion. A must see in Cuernavaca. Lots of colonial religious art beautifully displayed with antique Asian art and works by more modern artists like Rivera, Tamayo, and Frida Kahlo. Beautiful gardens too.

A really unique, special place. Considering Bob was openly gay, it's full of images of naked women and Jesus/Mary. Fun fact: the water doesn't run when you turn on the taps and the towels in his bathrooms only smell a tad musty.

The dive was amazing... my guide speaks English and he made the instructions very clear. I opted for 3rd person camera which cost 1350 pesos, worth it.. the diving video is of 90 sec long... But there were few more videos where they captured the flight take off, me preparing for the ride, how I felt before and after the dive... Our flight took 6 clients (us) and 8(crew) members... Take off and watching your friends jump were the frightening things... Once you jump it's just the adrenaline rush on seeing the amazing view and the spins were awesome (free fall spin - first 6sec, initial mini parachute spin, you being horizontal to the earth trying to float - next 45sec, finally the last spins with the parachute, you being vertical controling the parachute to have a perfect landing)…... Try to take a slot which is afternoon or late morning.. the brighter the sky the better... Also the place offers food and drinks.. they are affordable and the service is quick...

I had done Sky Diving on 6th August, 2025. I had already bought premium package for a very great amount. The only dicy thing was that there was a girl who was clicking pictures at landing. It was very strange that when we came that girl neither bothered to show the pictures nor sold it to us. She had already left the venue in few moments At the starting the people who did it had option to see it and then buy it. When I tried connecting on the number mentioned they were quite reluctant to show the pics and instead expecting to buy it . Isn't there responsibility to make sure if you had clicked pics to ask what's need to be done . This behaviour happened just with me is it because I am not of this country or you do it with everyone that's the question. Premium package does not include landing pics that's fine but what options are given to everyone should be given to me

I enjoy flying with these folks. Very clean and organized. Good food available on site in their cafe. Always puntual with their service times for sky diving. My last few jumps were with Kike and I highly recommend asking for him. Of all the different places I’ve chosen to sky dive this is the best!!!
El L — Google review
This place is good for the experience but in our case were wait for hours for plane and after jump. Once time in the earth, we were wait for more hours by the videos and photos for that pass to the cel and the usb. The experience is incredible but the attention is a little bad.
ANGEL M — Google review
I would improve a little bit their logistics but the fact that I am back after skydiving with them makes all the things before that to be forgotten. The experience is incredible, I was a little afraid to do the jump but my instructor calm me and handled all the jump smoothly. Definitely an experience you should have at least once in your lifetime. Get there with at least half an hour before your appointment and be metalized to be at least 3 hrs more after you get scheduled for the jump. There are only beers, soft drinks, food and snacks for sale, so if you are looking for other drinks just be prepared yourself.

Skydive Mexico is one of the best and literally the cheapest sky dive experience in the world. Its located at Emiliano Zapata 19, 62680 San José Vista Hermosa, Mor., Mexico and is 2 hours drive from Mexico city on the Acapulco road. The drive is smooth and depending upon the crowd you can complete everything in 3 hours. The divers are extremely experienced, very well behaved and fun to be with in the overall experience. Don't miss this if you are in Mexico. The place also offers souvenirs and light munches. Overall a memorable place.

Zona Arqueológica de Malinalco

Mentioned on

Archaeological site
Sights & Landmarks
The Zona Arqueológica de Malinalco is a captivating archaeological site that showcases six ceremonial Aztec structures dating back to the 15th century, including an impressive pyramidal temple. Nestled in the picturesque town of Malinalco, which features eight charming neighborhoods each adorned with historic chapels from the 16th to 18th centuries, this destination offers a rich tapestry of history and culture.
Pro tip: bring comfortable footwear and a water source, you'll be climbing 400+ feet of steps (totally worth it at the top). There's a small snack shop just in case you forgot your water.
Manuel M — Google review
Wow, what a breathtakingly beautiful site. I could have spent all day wandering around the mountain top or just looking out at the landscape. The gorgeous town of Malinalco nestled below. The jacarandas in full bloom added a splash of purple that made my visit magical. It is definitely worth a day trip down from México City to visit. If I had more time I would look into staying in Malinalco for a few days. Stunning!
Nick S — Google review
Long hike up and the temple was closed but the views were excellent and the interpretation was very good.
Jessica C — Google review
Easy 20 minutes walk up to the reasonably well preserved archeological site at a moderate steady pace. Well laid out stone steps throughout. Great views of the town below and the mountains around from the top. Information placards laid out throughout the route and at the top describe the history of the place very well. Entry costs 65 peso per adult, children go free and students get a discount. Open from 9 am.

It's one of so many magic towns (pueblo magic) in the beautiful and historical México which is rich in culture. If you want to know some history from the mexicas, you will get to know it and see it in this town. It's a little far from the city but you're going to love it.

Jardines de México

Theme park
Nature & Parks
Garden
Botanical garden with regionally themed sections, seasonal blooms & a restaurant.
This might be the best garden I’ve ever visited in Mexico! They have great displays with colour and tori and themed gardens which revolve around tropical plants, cactuses and succulents, Italian and Japanese design. Don’t miss the contemporary art walk. It’s quite a treat!
Karl G — Google review
Very nice place to visit if you are not far from there. It’s botanist gardens with different style: Roman, Japanese. They host concert and wedding. They restaurant is good and staffs are very friendly.
Victor X — Google review
Loooooved this place. I really like how they organised everything and how well maintained it is. We went on a weekday so the place was ours. It was a hot day but you could always find a shade to rest. It reminded me of Kew gardens because of the sectioning of the gardens instead of the plant habitats. I come from northwest Mexico so I had no idea this existed. Very proud we have something like this in Morelos.
Walkiria N — Google review
A very beautiful and well preserved collection of botanical gardens with the most typical styles from around the world. The place is quite big and it takes from 2 to 4 hours to walk across all the gardens and visit the open spaces that the place offer. The entrance cost appear to be a little expensive but it's really worth it, it's almost like entering to an amusement park. You can pay an additional amount (50 pesos at this time) to use the internal transport which I recommend if the weather is hot or if you are visiting the place with kids or elder people. Food from the restaurants inside the park is really expensive and it's not that good, a lot of people were complaining about the taste of the dishes, beverages are not included in the buffet. For food I suggest to go to a nearby town, Tequesquitengo which is 10 minutes by car from the park where you can find much better food with much lower prices.
Rodrigo L — Google review
I'd never thought that visiting a garden would be so much fun. I had zero expectations, but walking or experiencing all the gardens was a different experience. Bring water bottles with you
Javier Z — Google review
Wonderful place to spend the day walking in magnificent gardens! Though a little bit expensive to get there, it was worth the trip! I will love to go back in another season of the year to enjoy the blooming of the different gardens! I even enjoy an unexpected dance show from Veracruz state. Very, very good! Bring your children! They will love discovering the different environments!
Sonia K — Google review
It's a stunning place. Great option to have an awesome day with friends, family, partner o even your dog. They open the place for dogs time to time. I went during Summer, it's really beautiful but it changes according to the season. They recommend you visit on November when everything is yellow and December when everything turns into red. November is full of marigolds and other day of the dead typical flowers and December is painted on res because of the poinsettias. Of course, along Spring it is a rainbow. Definitely a wondrous place, must to visit several times. Try to stay there enough time. It's really hot so you will want to have some break throughout your visit. If you don't have any healthy issue, try to visit by walking, it's worthy!
Lexy ( — Google review
The place is nice, it is very well taken care of and you can see several plants. If you're into such well "groomed" gardens, this is the place for you. The WOW effect were the orchids and the cactuses. Easy to get to. You have to wear masks also outdoors. The buffet restaurant is nice, food is good. Drinks are not included.

Parque Nacional Grutas de Cacahuamilpa

National park
Nature & Parks
This park offers tours of its gardens & impressive cave system, one of the largest in the world.
If you are visiting Taxco or anywhere near by (even as a day trip from Mexico City), this is a must!! The caves were enormous, strikingly beautiful and the tour really immersed us in them. We have been travelling around Latin America for months and this was one of the most amazing places we saw. Some info for visiting: The buses leave from Taxco throughout the day, but it’s best going early. It is the bus that goes to Toluca but it stops at Grutas first (about 40 mins from Taxco). You then walk down the road to the park entrance (easy to follow and do). Tickets are 200 pesos per adult with a Spanish guide and tours leave on the hour every hour. Our Spanish isn’t amazing, but the caves are so incredible that you could know no Spanish at all and it wouldn’t detract from the experience. The bus back to Taxco is from the same stop and leaves every hour (we were told the last one is at 8pm so there’s no chance of missing it by the time the park closes). We visited in the week and we were a group of 4 which was great for allowing us to enjoy the caves without any crowds
Michael T — Google review
Beautiful experience!! We highly recommend. It makes a good day trip from Puebla. The caves are huge! I have never seen a cave system this large. There were a lot of people but it didn't hurt our trip. We went on a Sunday afternoon.
Tina E — Google review
A couple of friends, Héctor & Sara took me here during my trip to Mexico, and I can’t even begin to explain how awe-inspiring this experience was. It’s a two-hour adventure, and you can start off by either zip-lining across the cave entrance or walking across—an incredible way to kick things off! I was absolutely blown away by the sheer size of the caves. Pictures will never do them justice—you truly have to be there in person to appreciate their vastness. It’s 100% worth the drive. The name Cacahuamilpa comes from the Náhuatl language, spoken by one of Mexico’s Indigenous cultures, and it means “fertile peanut planting field.” The area was named for its rich soil, which was ideal for growing peanuts. In pre-Hispanic times, many Indigenous tribes avoided entering the cave system, believing that the rock formations inside were evil spirits. Entering the caves was thought to bring bad luck. The caves’ modern history began in 1834 when a wealthy man from a nearby town hid inside them during a conflict. After returning home, he shared stories of the incredible caves, sparking interest in them. They officially opened to tourists in 1920, and in 1936, the Mexican government declared them a National Park. If you ever have the chance to visit, don’t hesitate—this is an unforgettable experience.

Best experience ever!! Make sure you bring the right shoes is slippery and a flashlight
Alejandro A — Google review
This is one of the longest limestone cavern I have ever seen. It has been developed very nicely. The lights are helpful for pics and also to render the formations. They have a short zip line at the entrance which is at extra cost. There is also a small food area before entering. Sell coconut for 70 Pesos which is about twice the price compared to regular prices. All in all a great experience
Bali A — Google review
A delightful creation of nature, striking in its scale and beauty. A magical place where you feel like you’ve accidentally visited the underground giant kings. With all this, this place is perfectly equipped and even with children, traveling through it is safe and easy. Unfortunately, I simply forgot to buy a permit for “professional filming,” so don’t blame me for the photo...
Andre K — Google review
Best national park tour available! The tour guides are not only informative and knowledgeable but sprinkle in family friendly humor throughout to keep it interesting. Be prepared though the trek is long but the guides constantly check in with the group to assess the overall stamina and give plenty of heads up as to how much longer the tour lasts. The views of the cavern are breathtaking as the guides really know how to keep you engaged throughout the tour.

Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Parking: 5/5 Family friendly: 5/5 Stroller friendly: 3/5 I gotta say, i wasn't to sure what to expect from this place since it's out in the middle of nowhere-svillle, but I'm glad I was able to experience this amazing ecological park and cave. We did this on our way Taxco, Guerrero; México. The opens around 10-1030ish and there is a fee to park ($50 MXN, $1 USD). Just be prepared to get swarmed by vendors selling trinkets and what-not. It is the culture here, however I got used to it. To get into the caves there are guided cave tours ($8 USD, $150 MXN per person). Our guide was excellent, she explained the history of explorers and how the cave came to be, the inhabitants of the cave (bats), and some science of the minerals of stalactites and stalagmites. She spoke enough English to explain some things as well. There are also other activities like Ziplining where, instead of walking across the bridge to the cave, one can Zipline across which i think was $60 MXN. This trail is about a 4 KM (2 mile-ish) walk in dimly lit terrain in a humid enclosed cave, so if you or someone in your party is not into that you're able to turn around. Also, there are about 100 steps towards the turn around. BE PREPARED WITH WATER! Once done with the caves, thee are so many vendors selling coco frío, micheladas, and other excellent foods. We ended up at Fonda Mary that made excellent, fresh quesadillas, tacos dorados, and so many other delectable foods. I highly recommend this experience if you're on the fence about doing it.

Sights & Landmarks
Santa Prisca de Taxco, a church built in 1758, is an iconic landmark in the town of Taxco. Its opulent facade features elaborate Churrigueresque belfries and a simple yet elegant nave made of rose-colored stone. Inside, visitors can admire the intricately sculpted, gold-covered altarpieces. The church's baroque architecture and stunning views make it a must-visit attraction in Taxco.
One of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever seen. Santa Prisca sits right in the middle of Taxco and really stands out with its pink stone and incredibly detailed facade. Inside, it's just as impressive — gold everywhere, intricate carvings, and a really peaceful atmosphere despite all the activity outside. You don’t have to be religious to appreciate the craftsmanship here. It’s a quick visit but definitely a highlight of Taxco. There are also great views of the church from nearby rooftops and restaurants, especially around sunset.
Alex K — Google review
Build by Jose de la Borda a prosperous miner of Taxco who became bankrupt owing to the high cost of this but later stuck silver and became even more wealthy. It is one of the best new Spanish constructions. Santa Prisca has nine floor-to-ceiling altarpieces, worked in wood and covered with gold leaf. The style of the altarpieces forms a unit with the architectural ensemble, that is, it is a sample of mid-18th century New Spanish Baroque
Bali A — Google review
Stunning architecture and home to the world’s largest silver Virgin of Guadalupe Santa Prisca de Taxco is the crown jewel of Taxco. The Baroque architecture is breathtaking, with its detailed stonework and iconic twin towers making it a standout right in the center of the town. The interior is equally impressive, filled with ornate altars, intricate artwork, and a peaceful, reverent atmosphere. One of the most unique features is the solid silver statue of the Virgin of Guadalupe, said to be the largest in the world. Standing six feet tall and weighing around 380 pounds, this statue is a true reflection of Taxco’s silver heritage and a highlight of any visit. Founded in 1751, Santa Prisca holds historical and cultural significance, contributing to Taxco’s reputation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. An awesome experience, combining history, architecture, craftsmanship, and spiritual importance in one unforgettable visit.

What a beautifully designed church. It is the heart of the town. Beautiful Inside and out. Once inside everywhere you lay eyes on you see intricate designs. The silver Virgen de Guadalupe is life size and is a testament of Taxco being the capital of silver of Mexico. I know you can ask about climbing the towers to get a view of the city, we visited while they were doing baptisms and didn’t know who to ask but if you have the chance definitely do it!

This magical Mexican town is nestled among mountains in Guerrero, offering delicious food, picturesque spots, and pet-friendly locals.
This must be one of the nicest Zocalo in Mexico, peaceful, birds are chirping, vendors hawking their goods and above all the magnificent Church. Beautiful square to just hang out, sipping an ice coffee and watch the people.

We visited the Santa Prisca Church. It is beautiful inside and out. Take the time to go up the Tower to see a nice view of the whole town. The only bad thing is all these people trying to sell you something every step you take. They don't let you take all this beauty in in peace.

Charming town square full of life and local character The Zócalo of Taxco is everything you’d hope for in a small Mexican mountain town. lively, picturesque, and full of local charm. Surrounded by whitewashed colonial buildings, narrow streets, and the stunning Santa Prisca Church, it’s the perfect place to sit, relax, and soak up the atmosphere. Street vendors, small cafés, and silver shops line the area, and the vibe is welcoming and peaceful. Whether you're enjoying a coffee, people-watching, or starting your exploration of the town, the Zócalo feels like the natural heart of Taxco. It’s simple but special experience for its authentic, small-town Mexico feel.
