Granite Skywalk – Castle Rock, Porongurup National Park We recently visited the Granite Skywalk at Castle Rock and it was absolutely worth it! The hike itself was enjoyable, with beautiful bushland and plenty of spots to take a breather along the way. The final climb to the skywalk was a bit challenging, but once you reach the top the views are just incredible – honestly one of the best I’ve ever seen in WA. The lookout gives you a full panoramic view over the Porongurup Range, Stirling Ranges, and beyond. If you’re in the Albany or Denmark region, this is definitely a must-do. A bit of effort to get up there, but the reward at the top is next level. Highly recommended!

The structure is good, there are toilets, barbecue areas, picnic tables, and plenty of carpark spaces. The trail is well built and marked, and offers an enjoyable hiking experience. At the end of the trail, there is a more accessible lookout. But for those looking for an extra challenge, there is another option as well. We saw kids and elderly people doing both. Just carry enough water, use trail shoes, a hat, and sunscreen… The final view is amazing and totally worth your effort. My husband and I are not the most fitness couple and we came back to our car in a little less than 2 hours. We paid $17 to access the park, but if you have plans to visit the natural bridge and the gap it will add an extra $17. So, our recommendation is to choose the weekly permit, because it costs $30.

Along the way, you’ll see the famous Balancing Rock, and shortly after, the trail enters a boulder field. From there, you climb into an outcrop and onto the viewing walkway, which includes a fun ladder climb. The views from the top are breathtaking, with sweeping panoramic scenery. The trail itself is beautiful, passing by massive fallen trees — one of which has a section cut out so you can walk right through it. A really neat, all-round experience and absolutely worth doing if you’re planning on a bit of hiking in Porongurup National Park.

$17 for car day pass, pay at the electronic kiosk. Make a day of it as there are a few picnic tables as well as toilets. Didn't count them, but would be 1500+ steps. Don't let that put you off. A trek and a half up the level 4, 2k hike to the top. If you're a bit adventurous and a little nimble, the clamber over rocks and up the final ladder at the summit, rewards with views second to none. Just on an hour to the top at a leisurely pace and 35 mins back down, with around and hour at the summit. There is still a lower viewing platform should you not attempt the last 150m section. Make sure you secure your hats before going up top. Better perhaps if a couple of you could assist each other as needed. I rate the views with those from Ubirr in the NT's Kakadu. Take your time and even in winter take water, but please bring your bottles back. I would not advise for wheelchairs. There was plenty of parking, including areas for long vehicles and caravans. Had to head back as we were running out of light.

There's lots to do and see in the region. We spent 3 nights here . A good tip the wineries are more or less open only on the weekends.

Even in the pouring rain this place is impressive. Although the top walk was too much for me. Still it is a challenge.

Great hiking, great area. Nice and cool. Loved it. The kids loved it and the final ascent and views were amazing. Skywalk was very satisfying, but I thought it would be longer 😅 The balancing rock was a good spot for a break and photos!

We had a fantastic walk up to the Granite Skywalk. A bit of a climb over some borders, then a view for miles around.

It was really calm and quiet. Really muddy… Overall an experience thats never forgettable. Always can remember! Great views at the top. Theres a total of 5 Km walk.. be prepared for that long walk. Parking available but its 17$

Visited the park on a weekday morning. It was peaceful. Took about 30 to 40mins drive from Albany to the park. Ticket price is at $17 for a car for a day. There is another trail (Walitj Meil Trail). Saw a few locals doing that trail when I was coming down from it. It's mostly flat ground for this trail.

This is a winery and cellar door along Porongurup Road in the national park area that is open for wine tastings from 11am to 5pm (Thursdays to Sundays). We made a stop here after hiking in the national park and before making way back to Albany and enjoyed trying a couple of their rieslings and late harvest wine along with very good almond & orange and sticky date slices, perfect for an afternoon wine and dessert stop. Purchased a bottle of their Riesling to take back and enjoy at our apartment rental in Albany. Slightly crispy and fruity with a bit of sweetness to balance out the wine, this was a very enjoyable Riesling, one we would gladly return to purchase additional bottles next time we are able to visit the area.

We arrived after our hike and were warmly welcomed despite not having a booking. We had a delightful experience here. We sampled several wines and were particularly fond of the savion blanch. It was my favorite savion blanch that we tried in Australia. We also enjoyed a tasting plate, which was exquisite. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth stopping by.

Such a beautiful winery. Lovely friendly staff, delicious food and wine, with a great view. Great value for the food and wine. I can’t wait to go back!

Passed this place on the way to the Granite Skywalk and took the opportunity to pop in to sample the wines on offer. Had a warm welcome from the host Eugene who guided us through his selection of wines. I enjoyed the Shiraz and the tawny port. Tastings are free, but if you don't buy a bottle, please put a donation in the charity tin.

Had a visit today through recommendation and was not disappointed, the views were stunning, Jemima was absolutely wonderful and welcoming, we enjoyed a cheese platter with a few wines … relaxing … 🥂

Lovely scenic beach, good surfing, but you need to assess the water conditions carefully and your swimming abilities before going swimming, there can be some really good swimming conditions and some really bad ones. There are change rooms with showers and toilets that are well maintained. There is a surf life saving club, life savers are only in attendance during summer months and special events, and a Surf Cam can be accessed via the internet to give you an idea of the water conditions.

Not sure that everyone should be knowing how good this place is, beach safety and rip awareness is still key 💕

It's good to spend few hours with kids and think about your life looking at sea.

If you love surfing,walking and swimming this is the place to visit.

Lovely walk and amazing views from the summit. It took us 4 hours return with our kids who are 9 and 11 years old that was with lots of stops! The track was quite busy due to being school holidays when we visited. There are toilets in the carpark and make sure you carry water with you. Great family day out.

Very challenging hike, started at 5.30am, took about 1.5 hours to get to the top and about 1.5 hours coming down, was starting to get very warm on the way down, definitely recommend going early

Nice “hike” with almost only steps 😅 Beautiful view, what’s worth it to get little pain in your legs. Weather conditions can change very fast near the top, be prepared for. Entry 17$ National Park Fee.

Moderate hike, the walking trail is really nice. Will not lose your way. The only thing is plan when the weather is clear and no chance of rain otherwise the view will not be nice. And if you go on rainy or cloudy day, the whole charm is lost. We hiked mid October and the view was so nice with wild flowers blooming. Would recommend to hike like 4am if it’s in peak summer. We took 2 hrs up and 2 hrs down and it was really slow hike. We spent lots of time clicking on the way.

Watching sunrise from the **Bluff Knoll** summit is a deeply moving experience — the climb just before first light rewards you with sweeping views as the sky shifts from inky darkness to soft pastels, with clouds and mist often rolling over the Stirling Range ridges like waves. The cool air, the stillness, the low sun gently touching rocks and vegetation — it feels almost otherworldly. It’s a challenging hike (about 6 km return, with steep sections and variable conditions) so there’s real satisfaction when the golden hues finally break and you catch that moment where the land beneath you is awash with light. Even though you’ll likely be cold, maybe a bit tired, the view — fields, peaks, and valleys glowing in dawn’s glow — makes it completely worth it.

Spoiler alert; lots of hikes clips attached. I have yet to find a more scenic hike in WA. The path is fairly well maintained. It is a 3hr round trip hike. No bathroom facility up top. Bring water and raincoat. The weather can change suddenly here. The flora along the path is unique. It changes from moderate forest to alpine scrubbs at the top. If you are lucky there are wild emus in the vicinity. I spotted their droppings only. At the top it is going to be windy. The day I went it was covered in rain cloud with zero visibility. There is no shelter from the rain so come prepared. I did a day trip from Perth but I think this is better combined with Albany sightseeing.

Such a beautiful place to hike. If you want to see sun rise, be sure to set your alarm to wake up early, i set mine at 3:30am. Make sure you bring torches with you. Wear extra layer of clothing or jacket. Make sure you bring coffee with you. You would like to enjoy coffee when you reach the top. Some path can be dangerous if being silly. Other than that, gear up and enjoy the spectacular view of bluff knoll.

I dropped in here on my way home to Melbourne from Perth, and did the Sense of Place tour and tasting. What a great experience. Sage our hostess was delightful so knowledgeable on wine and winemaking. The property is stunning and the wines top shelf. The wines we had sent home arrived with beautiful packaging and presentation. I won’t say more as it could spoil the surprises packed in. A wonderful winery that shows its care and attention to details. I look forward to my next visit. Thanks.

On a rainy cold afternoon we sought shelter at this beautiful classy winery and sat by the fire in a cosy lounge area to try your wines. We had a great personalised experience with a lovely female host ( originally from USA - unfortunately we forgot her name 🤦‍♂️) who took us through your great whites and reds 🍷. Really enjoyed the Malbec and Shiraz (purchased and beautifully packaged ) and had a delicious 🧀 cheese platter . Good prices and no tasting fee 😱! Thanks for the wonderful memories of your winery and of the Denmark area 👍

Great winery in Denmark WA. Visited several wineries in the Margaret river and south Australia region in Oct 2025 and this one turned out to be our favorite. Beautiful tasting room, excellent service, our sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and their wine is amazing. You have to try their reserve Chardonnay. Rates No. 1 in Australia and it is quite good. At A$ 63/bottle, the quality rivals the A$150+ bottles.

Wow what an experience. Tracey gave us the most in-depth wine tasting adventure, including a terrific introduction to the Singlefile wines. The ambiance and aesthetic design certainly makes this place a standout and not to be missed when exploring the Denmark region.🌹ps their rose garden was amazing.

Excellent service, warm and inviting! We were able to bring our young pup inside and sit near the fireplace. A good selection of red and white wines and great coffee!

Denmark Animal Farm & Pentland Alpaca Stud is hands down one of the best farm experiences I’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived, it was pure joy !! baby Highland cows (yes, you can actually go into the pen for cuddles!), wallabies, camels, fluffy chickens, and even guinea pigs you can sit with. Every corner of the farm has something exciting and interactive, and the animals are so well cared for and friendly. The highlight for me was being able to get up close with the baby cows and feed so many of the animals, it felt so special and memorable. The farm shop is also worth a visit, full of beautiful alpaca products that make the perfect keepsake or gift. If you’re in Denmark or passing through, this place is an absolute must-stop. Fun, interactive, and heartwarming !! I’d give it a 10/10 without hesitation!

My autistic daughter is very particular about her animal farm experiences as she hates to see them unhappy/badly handled/stressed by crowds. She LOVED this place so that’s saying something! We had a great time, especially loved the highland coos :)

Great spot, only a relatively small place, but the animals here are some of the most gentle animals I have ever hand fed and are all happy and healthy. Highly recommend trying to get here at around 3pm to assist with the bottle feeding of the baby animals. My wife absolutely enjoyed it.

You can actually go into pens and Pat or feed the animals. A beautiful up close experience like no where else.

Awesome little farm, the animals interacted with the kids taking the food from them, the animals put on a good show for us with the baby goats playing with the highland cows.

This is a winery situated along the Albany Highway in Mt. Barker. This was the first winery and cellar door in the region back in 1975. Today you'll find a cellar door and cafe open from 10am to 4pm daily if interested in a bit of wine and food tasting while in the area. We recently passed by near closing time to grab a bottle of the Three Lion Riesling to enjoy back at our apartment rental in Albany. On the whole, it was pretty good, light, a bit crispy with floral and citrusy notes, a good wine to enjoy with seafood. Overall, nice environs, would make for a enjoyable place to try a bit of tasting next time around.

Lovely cellar door! High quality interior with a rich history from the surrounding area - it's lovely to know where all the materials are from. Great complimentary wine tasting (which these days are becoming rare), including wines from their premium range. I loved the fact that this place was open earlier than others (opens 10am) as we stopped in on the drive from Albany back to Perth.

An awesome winery. The cellar door ladies are lovely and have a great sense of humour and local knowledge. They made us feel very welcome and we highly recommend an afternoon spent here.

Wonderful lunch and glass of wine. Pizzas were so tasty, the accompanying wine was perfect. We had to take ½ the pizzas with us as could not finish them. They were lovely warmed up in the evening. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend this for a visit.

Great front of house winery and kitchen just before you enter Mount Barker townsite. Well established winery and you cannot travel to the South West without visiting! Limited lunch menu but tasty. $40 for platter for two.

Its a calm and quiet place. Theres wine available. Theres alcohol in all drinks. For people who prefer non alcoholic divert yourself out of there.

Visited Gilbert's for lunch and some wine tasting. We had the share platter between 3 people and it was delicious, sitting out on the verandah with views of the Porongurup Ranges. We tried an excellent variety of wines. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend a visit. Dogs on leash welcome.

What a beautiful brunch & our lovely hosts were soooo accommodating without a booking. We had a fab cheese platter, yummy scones & delicious 3Devils Shiraz. We are NEW locals & feel very welcomed to the area 🙏

We had the cheese flight and chocolate flight- absolutely fantastic! We left it to the owner (sorry I forgot your name!) to pair for us, and she did super well. My fav was the Riestling and my friend’s the Rose. The son was very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend for anyone to stop by, not just for the wine, but also for the hospitality and service. Not forgetting the adorable dogs too!

We loved our visit to Gilbert’s. The young girl who did our wine tasting was the best. Only new to the business but what a beautiful personality. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here

Great spot to stop and have a coffee and a look through the museum. Well stocked gift shop as well. Toilets are very clean inside the visitor centre (much better than the crazy busy Toilets across the road at the playground)

It's a good place to stop by and relax. We came on a public holiday (Queen's Birthday), it was not busy, and everything was open. There's an outdoor rose maze garden, a gift shop, cafe, and museum.

I've been wanting to stop here and take my time for years, but am always so rushed. This place is just beautiful. Local history covering yesteryear, shearing, flora, fauna plus the visitor centre, Cafe next door. A gorgeous display of freshly picked (with pickers license) wildflowers and native orchids that smelled divine. A really interesting stop and browse and well worth it.

Great place to stop for a break, there is plenty of parking, well maintained toilets and a new playground in the parkland. There's a big lake with some BIG koi fish, but the main attraction is the giant ram, he's very well maintained and huge! Must stop spot for a photo if you're travelling through.

If you're driving through Wagin then there's not much more to see.

Surprising find in a relatively remote location. We had an iced coffee, mocha, prawn po boy (prawns were very tasty, I wish I'd ordered extra) The New York Reuben, some fries (especially good) and the pecan pie. Everything was very tasty. We will definitely stop in next time we're passing through.

There was a long line, but the service was excellent. There is a kids playground attached to the restaurant. The burger was fresh and delicious. Kid’s nuggets were slightly overcooked and the Thai beef salad was a bit overdressed, so it was a little bitter, but the flavors is still good. Overall, it’s a great stopover between Albany and Perth.

Been here many times over the years and I always look fwd to the fresh sandwiches on offer. The bread used to be lovely. Called on the way to Perth in August and the fresh sandwiches were off the menu as well as hot chips. Only toasties available. Then again today there was no sign of these items on the menu. The menu used to be quite extensive but it has reduced substantially. I paid $6 for a piece of banana bread and i was served a cold thin wedge. Subsequently i left it behind. I would be embarrassed to serve this up to anyone. It’s hard to find good consistent dining places and this ‘used’ to be one of them. Be giving it a wide berth in the future.

Shout out to the lovely German staff member on the counter today dishing out pies, toasties and coffees with a huge smile and friendly banter. We frequently stop here during our travels and will continue to do so. Love a little peruse of the unique shops here too!

Had lovely coffee and scones. The scones had been heated too hot and were falling apart but were delicious. Toilets were clean and tidy. The shops were lovely to look at. Easy parking.

Really enjoyed our visit here. They are doing a fantastic job with saving these beautiful little creatures. Was a treat sitting in the dark with a red light and all these endangered animals hopping around us and the tour guide was really great you could hear the passion in his voice for them.

We saw all of the nighttime critters in the enclosure, which were as cute and fun to watch as expected. Shannon was a great guide, adding lots of interesting information and stories. Highly recommended!

Fantastic evening, being shown multiple marsupials being kept safe here. Very informative talk given first, definitely alerted me to the hazards cats pose to wildlife. Everyone should have a chance to learn about these fantastic creatures and what we humans need to do to protect them.

The best thing to do/experience in the narrogin/dryandra region! So many rare marsupials to see in a lovely sanctuary! It's a once in a lifetime experience because you won't be able to see these animals in the wild due to their reduced populations/endangered conservation status

Sensational experience. A splendid chance to see the native australian noctural marsupials feeding which is otherwise almost impossible to see. They have two large enclosed areas that are filled with a variety of marsupials which are fed during the nocturnal tour. It is a very nice sight to watch them feed and hop around. You will be very close to the animals and they will be observed under torch light. Not good for infants as staying quiet during the tour is essential. A good weekend tour from Perth

Fabulous multi- level challenge, family activity. Our group of 8 had age ranges of 5 to 57 and there was a course for everyone. I was impressed with the time spent in the trees, the safety equipment, the training and the overall professionalism. Make sure you complete your waiver when booking to save time. Picnic tables to sit & eat, & a cafe to purchase coffee and a few bites. Both physically and mentally challenging depending on the course you complete but a fabulous experience overall.

Absolutely beautiful day for all… definitely worth the drive but please book in advance. The staff were amazing and very Professional! My five children from 3 to 15 all had a great time, they can’t wait to do it again!! Also a staff member recommended seeing a beautiful King Jarrah tree that’s said to be over 400 years old not far from the treetop adventures and we followed the directions and found it, it was amazing and so beautiful, so thank you so much to the wonderful employee who recommended we see that before we go, it was such an amazing experience. Can’t thank you enough!

Had an amazing time at Tree Top Adventure with my family. The staff were approachable, friendly, and very professional. Before the session began, they gave us clear instructions and ensured everyone was confident and well-trained with the safety equipment. It suddenly started raining heavily during our session, but that actually made the whole experience even more exciting and memorable a true rain-soaked adventure! The courses were well designed, safe, and suitable for all ages. There’s also a separate Junior Course Adventure for kids, which is a great way for younger ones to join the fun safely and build confidence. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for outdoor fun, teamwork, and a bit of thrill with nature

Such a great experience. The safety is top notch and the adrenaline exciting. So many courses for all ages and all capabilities. My zip line came off when I launched a bit too jumpy and Jayden came to my rescue and helped get me back to a platform, having to pull me myself! Didn't make me feel bad or like I was a fool or inconvenience. Everyone was so helpful. They helped with my husband who wears a turban to accommodate and were very kind and respectful. They moved our booking to a more convenient time. Highly recommend for kids and adults!

The treetop adventures were absolutely beautiful and I love the scenic area, please give me likes for my review: I just love the scenic nature and people working. They were also very nice and they have lots of information providing the details of the flora. The gift shop was also nice as I bought a few souvenirs.

The location and crew are great! So are the different tracks. Not enough time, managed only 2 tracks, 2.5 hours, because of supervising the younger kids. Family of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids 21, 11 and 5. Price is a bit high, 270 AUD...

Well worth the journey, the kids had a great time on the junior course. It was a real confidence boost as they got to grips with the different elements and by the third go around, could manage it all themselves (ages 5 & 6). Update: 6 years later the kids are 11 & 12, had a brilliant time, managed their first red course and we all loved the blue run that was zip line after zip line. Even on a warm day (32) it was nice and cool in the trees, shady with a light breeze. The staff were very friendly again, genuinely nice, helped the kids relax. The 2.5 hours went so quick, was glad we brought some sandwiches. Was thinking about camping here there's some nice looking sites next to here. But even with the 1.5 hour drive from Perth and back, we thought it was well worth it.

Massive thanks to the super friendly and helpful staff. Really great service storing our food box for our bibbulmun hike and other help they offered with no bother at all. They made our stay so much easier & the shop had great range of supplies. We are so lucky to have such awesome service and facilities! 😃😁

One the hidden gems of WA. An ideal destination for nature lovers and adventurers.

We were amazed at how busy this place was on a Sunday afternoon. There were lots of people in the visitor centre. You could rent a bike or take a stroll around the town. Everything is within walking distance. There are lots of eateries around. The main attraction would be the diesel or steam train, which buying a ticket online is highly recommended and to avoid disappointment. Great little place, highly recommended.

Visited as part of hiking the Bibbulmun and the centre staff were super helpful. From a shower to doing the laundry, and keeping a posted resupply package for me, all for free and with a smile. It was great coming back from the bush to society this way

Dwellingup info centre is the best place to stop. The staff are knowledgeable and so generous with amenities - charging station, showers, laundry. Such a nice surprise after a long days riding along the Munda Biddi! Thanks Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre!!

Came here on my day 3 of Munda Biddi ride. Great facilities and friendly staff. Had a hot shower, received my parcel, charged my electronics, got two delicious pies from the bakery.. well set up for riders! The shop had some resupplies. It also has a bike shop attached to it.

Great price for a gorgeous adventure, so nice to see the historical places being maintained as best as they can. Staff were amazing, the down to earth experience was a perfect family outing, thanks guys! Will be back to go on the other train soon 😁

Wonderful piece of railway history. Nice scenic ride through the forest and farmland. The whole organization is run by volunteer and enthusiasts and you can feel the love and the positive vibe throighout. I went on a Sunday afternoon and was able to get ticket on the spot. The ticket office has many memobrilia on sale and worth a look. The train and carriage is an older type similar to slow train in Thailand. There is a canteen on board selling drinks and snacks. The ride itself is around 2hr. It travels at only 10-15km/hr in a back and forth path. It would have been nice if there was something to interact at the stop. Tip: Wild flower was starting to bloom on 31 August. If you visit in September it should be in full bloom.

What a lovely place to visit, it’s a step back in time to the good old days. Old railway engines and carriages. There is a beautiful old railway station plenty of options for short rail journeys to explore the surrounding countryside. I can recommend going on an evening dinner rail tour.

Stunning location. Please keep WA clean Dwellingup is my favourite place to chill out & camp... Get a coffee and add the caramel honey.. It is absolutely delicious 😋

Volunteers should be congratulated in providing this unique service, as the time required, not only to provide the journey experience, but also to maintain the train and carriages would be substantial. Before you head off, please ensure any children or others travelling with you can tolerate dogs in confined spaces. The 2 hour journey takes you through jarrah forests up and down the Darling Scarp where in places the track has a 7 degree gradiant is a pleasant way to relax and unwind, while appreciating the varying landscape. This seven degree gradient is the steepest around, and a 5 minute stop is required to build up the pressure in the boiler before tackling it.

A pleasant experience with friendly volunteer crew. Ample time to view the locomotives at the run around at the downhill end of the line. Parking was free and ample at Dwellingup. Station staff were friendly and assisted with ticketing as needed.

It’s very good for children and family, chill and relax travel.🙂

Heartbreaking honestly, I had fond memories of this place but today I did not recognize it. It feels abandoned.. and in dire need of maintenance.. my kids felt sorry for the animals. - Cages rusted and damaged - next to no greenery in most cages/pens - some cages are mislabeled - no signage for empty cages - some habitats don’t support the needs of the animals they house - saw no staff apart from the guy we paid, pretty sure there was a teen working for them but plain clothed so unsure - 4 adults, 4 kids and some food for the animals - $170 This place need a serious financial injection or should be shutdown. I honestly don’t understand the 5 star reviews, expectations for zoo standards should be much higher

I read some of the reviews before visiting. While I understand some of the negatives, I did ask some of the staff questions. Yes Red might be on reception during opening hours, his in the park before & after opening hours. The animals have regular vet checks. Staff are approachable & quick to attend to any animal issues. The facility is 40 years old so yes it's old, but always receiving on going maintenance. There's a board next to the Koala enclosure that explains what it costs to run & maintain. Overall, there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that isn't always obvious to the public eye and Redz Zoo is a wonderful place to bring your children and family to enjoy real authentic interactions with Australian Wildlife.

Wonderful zoo. Happy looking animals. Loved the walk in avery with red tail black cockatoos. The male kept landing on me. Also i highly recommended doing some of animal encounters. Also i highly recommended asking for Remi to do the encounters. He is very knowledgeable , very charming and cute.

What a surprise! We were unsure what to expect when booking online. This is a great experience in a great environment. Well presented and so peaceful. Animals are in great condition and all easy to view. Recommend the wombat experience. The young guide/animal carer was fantastic. Very friendly and knowledgeable.

Really cute Zoo, perfect for a day out without the massive crowds. There was no wait for tickets at the gate, no wait to walk around and no wait to get into the kangaroo enclosure. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is no ‘cafe’ as such so bring a pack lunch, there is plenty of spots to sit though!

Grandchildren had lots of hands on experiences with snakes, blue tongue lizard, feeding roos and goats. Walk thru Aviary a fav getting up close with beautiful native birds.

This is a really nice area to come for a picnic or barbeque. There's a number of spaces available to utilise the tables or bring your own chairs or blanket. The toilets are fairly reasonable and I did see the staff ensuring that they were clean and stocked up. The walk to the Falls is pleasant enough aside from rude people who have no awareness of seniors or people who aren't stay on their feet. At this time of the year the Falls are magnificent and it's good to see plenty of water there. It is astounding that at the entry you get asked not to feed the kangaroos and there are also signs asking people not to feed wildlife.....and yet they do what they want to get a photo of themselves or their kids feeding the kangaroos 👎👎👎 It's also astounding that people have no idea what a "One Way" sign is for and drive off to exit the park going against oncoming traffic. The place is terrific and there's a number of hiking trails too. There is a parking fee of around $17 but if you have a National Parks Pass then you can enter for free, but the staff will need to see your pass and confirm that it, and the vehicle, are both valid.

It's very small height fall. The entrance fee is 17 AUD. However one can enjoy the Hiking near to the falls. Serpentine Falls is a beautiful natural spot, perfect for a day trip from Perth. The waterfall looks amazing after rain, and the surrounding national park has great walking trails with plenty of wildlife — we saw lots of kangaroos. There are picnic and BBQ areas, toilets, and good parking, making it family-friendly. It can get busy on weekends, so going early is best. A lovely place to relax in nature and enjoy the scenery.

Great weekend hiking spot! Absolutely loved this place! Not so much water falling, but it was prestine and beautiful! The Waterfall itself is suitable for older people, as it's very short walk, but there are other trails that go around the falls if anyone wanted tk do extra workouts! Go during monsoon season to get the best experience!

Serpentine Falls is a scenic spot with two enjoyable trails. Access to the falls and rocks is restricted for safety, but the area is still perfect for those who enjoy walking and nature.

Wow ! Nice spot. We went on a Tuesday morning so wasn’t expecting it to be busy - but it was. Nice BBQ areas, easy walk to falls. Was nicer than I expected. Recommended for a summer swim and lazy family day out.

This is part of the serpentine national park. You can swim but caution is advised as people have been injured here in the past. Very peaceful and quiet if you visit during the week, it’s open from 8am to 5pm daily.

A great place to explore the Mandurah area and its vibes! It has so many different sites, such as the boardwalk, playground, and other eateries such as Cicerello’s and many more. You can also spot black swans and pelicans nearby. This is also a great place to and see the sunset views.

Stopped by here on the way back to the Perth Airport and it was a nice little stop with good food along the coast and nice views all around this seaside city.

Kids loved spending time at the new fenced in park for the little ones. LOTS of different restaurants to suit anyone's taste...sooo much to do around there. Secretly love the whiz fizz shop... Fishing is also tops around here

Great visit to this visitor centre, lots of info about the city and surrounding area. I love the whole waterfront and cafes and restaurants. Very pretty and a huge playground for kids.

Finally got to explore the Giants...great attractions ,plus the excersise...saw many families taking în the sculptures

This is the home base if you want to search for the “Giants of Mandurah”. The staff are very friendly and helpful if tot want the scoops for the giants. They give you a map of the first five and you have to price together the clues to find the 6th and final secret giant “Jyttes Hyyte”. Make sure you bring water on your adventures as each giant requires some walking to get to them.

The staff here are so friendly and helpful, they were great in giving little tips about how to find the giants and very knowledgeable 😊 My photos are not of the Visitor centre but the general area as it's so beautiful especially at night 😍

Very nice building and helpful staff. They also offer a free walking tour of Mandurah with an extremely knowledgeable guide. It takes about 1.5 hrs with a few stops for some interesting explanations of the history of Mandurah. I really recommend that tour, it's awesome 👌

A great spot to stay in Mandurah at a reasonable price. Our room was a little worn - a DVD remote but no DVD player and a few maintenance things which were acknowledged. Rooms are right above several cafes and bars which was handy.

The rooms were reasonably appointed, but the front door rattled with the wind, so we had to jam a coaster in the door to get a reasonable sleep. The air conditioner rattled and was noisy. The electric jug needs to be replaced or have a descaling product put through it. One car park was available under cover. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Great location all staff appeared friendly and helpful.The unit (2) overlooking the marina was a pleasant location. The curtains in living area and main bedroom were hanging of the tracks and living area curtain had a red stain about the size of a 20 cent coin.For me this presents a company who don't treat their quests well. I hope they treat their staff well.

We have stayed here at lot never had a problem but this time we did we love it because you can park underneath we have a four wheel drive and this time our parking spot was so small it had a big box from the roof which you have to park under and only front ways and of course we could not fit we got told bad luck undercover parking is only for small cars only two spots have this so they told us to check every day to seevif there was a spot we could use so we did and got told by young girl no nothing park on the street so we went out to park no parking in front of apartments so had to park miles away as we were doing so I saw a small car going in the car park so we asked them if we could use their spot and they could have ours they were lovely enough to oblige told staff so how hard is it for them to ask customers that then we asked for a couple more tea bags and we got we are not a hotel you know we have new management now well you charge like a hotel so this trip was a bit upsetting we will go back as it is good for my elderly mother and she loves it

Absolutely loved this place, the location, room, views were anazing! Will definately be returning. The alarm was going off when we arrived and the check in lady was a bit flustered poor thing but she did well.

Such a beautiful place to walk around and spend a day. We were lucky enough to have a dolphin swim right up to the edge of the pier, it was amazing.

Not preferred. Very old room, prefer nearby seashell hotel much more than this very old apartment. No reception after 4pm is crazy.

Very child friendly! Adults can see it's badly in need of funding, looking run down and old but kids don't take notice of those sorts of things. I took four children aged 1-8yrs and they had a great time feeding animals from their bags of popcorn (bought from reception). There's a variety of caged animals but also lots of different animals walking freely around the grounds! It was fun to see the kids meet goats, deer, alpacas, geese, peacocks, emus, kangaroos and more - just wandering right up close for a pat without needing to look over the fence or thru a cage!! Quite unique.

We really liked it here. There is a wide range of animals to see, lots of hands on experiences for the kids, and a very easy to walk around (flat ground and paths). The kids had a great time.

We’ve been to this wild life park since they were in Armadale, great to see the improvement on the koala area, koalas were quite active on the time we visited, we even got to see a baby koala, my kid had such an amazing experience holding a koala. Emus and geese inside the park can be a bit aggressive towards the popcorn bags but they can be easily shoo off (a couple of geese bite on my kids pants, no harms done and the kids found it funny), suggesting not to let young kids holding the food bags or they can be easily snatched away by the birds. We saw wombats and crocodile in the enclosed area, met some peacocks, donkeys, ponies, lamas and deers on the way to the kangaroo pan, kangaroos and wearables are super cute, there were quite a few with Joey in their bags! We had such a great time there!

It was a wonderful experience being able to hold a koala. Plus, if you buy the feed for just 4 dollars, you'll instantly become popular with all the animals!

Went there for a Koala experience. Place is rundown. Broken fixtures everywhere. Filthy, stinks and empty. Some animals (not all) look in bad shape and depressed. Was quite sad to see the state of the place. The place is truly overpriced for the state it is in. Not worth $80 (includes entrance, photo with koala and feeding wallabies).

Excellent visit! Animals and birds were friendly. Expensive at 20 dollars per adult but I guess it’s to sustain the park costs . Our autistic young man loved feeding the birds

Lovely park with friendly kangaroos and adorable koalas! 🦘🐨 You can walk around freely, feed the animals, and even hold a koala for photos. A bit old-fashioned but peaceful and family-friendly. Great spot for a relaxed Aussie wildlife experience near Perth.

Stop in here every now and then to check water levels and snap a few pictures you can walk across the dam and there is toilets available

One of my favourite places in Perth :) - Plenty of picnic spots - bins and bench areas - heaps of stairs for fitness finatics - beautiful rose garden - full of kangaroos! - beautiful view - fun walkway over the weir :) - full of helpful historic maps and plaques to find out how the weir came to be - interesting historic buildings :)

A project once made fun of now stands as one of the most important places in WA history.When Nature's beauty and man's creativity gets merged, wonders get created .Such a wonder was built between 1898-1903 for the purpose of transporting water to the Easter Goldfields of Kalgoorile. The dam is now under the Water Corporation of WA and their website provides information about the dam details such as facilities,Opening hours , direction etc. https://www.watercorporation.com.au/About-us/Visiting-our-dams/Mundaring-Weir The No1 Pump Station is a great place to learn about the incredible early engineering technology that they had used to pump water nearly 600km from Mundaring Weir to the Goldfields. This place is really a must see and one of the beautiful places to know more about heritage, to take wonderful pictures of scenery and even spend time with family or friend groups. https://youtu.be/c3O16ZOH0Eg The place have picnic areas, public toilets and walking trails. This project once called as "Scheme Of Madness" was designed by Thomas Crowley Hodgson and was brought to life by an Engineer in Chief C.Y.O'Connor. At present day the weir supplies water to the Eastern Goldfields and Agricultural region. The walking trail experience throug the Weir , lawns and gardens are really a great experience to get to the historical importance of this place. The Mundaring Weir now forms a part of the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme or The Golden Pipeline.

The Mundaring dam is a top local attraction and just 15 minutes from the Mundaring town site. There are panoramic photo opportunities during a crossing of the dam wall. On one side is the picturesque reservoir and on the other the heritage pumping station with its tall chimney stack. A less explored area can be discovered at the far end of the dam wall (coming from Mundaring Weir Road). A steepish descent, down a series of steps (with handrail) to the base of the dam wall, leads visitors to the pumping station (100m). A tranquil place surrounds the museum with a few rest benches under some shady trees. There is also an interesting electronic meter that turns over / counts - every time 1000 litres of dam water is used in Kalgoorlie (located nearby the pumping station museum). The Mundaring Weir park area is extensive and perfect for BBQ's with a number of designated areas complete with stove tops. There is an abundance of majestic trees (many varieties). A natural habitat for birdlife and the perfect place for a relaxing stroll. A few friendly kangaroos are always out and about.

Nice place to drive and cycle to. There are kangaroos, free fruit and a weir that supplies drinking water for Perth. Also there is the story and the bust of C.Y O'Connor. An engineer that supplied the goldfields with liquid gold (water). There is also a rose garden in the middle of nowhere, a great plethora of colours is observed during spring and a bit of summer. It is an awesome walk along the top of the weir.

A wonderful place to visit on the Perth Hills, having the state’s one of the most important engineering structures, access to the weir overseeing the idyllic C Y O’ Connor lake, plenty of walk trails and benches through the greenery of wild flowers and trees. Large number of gas top barbecue facilities along with separate toilets for male, female, disabled on both sides (west and east) of the weir. Several water fountains nicely positioned, offering quick rehydration and a splash on the face on a hot day. We were lucky enough to have been greeted by a family of kangaroos in the bush to the east of the rose garden. The viewing area to the south of the C Y O’Connor Memorial offers a splendid view of the both sides of the weir. One caution; be aware of mosquitoes and flies in the afternoon.

This is a place where animals come first. As a human we felt we were a guest on this island. We didn’t see many penguins since they were out fishing but we saw loads of pelicans and seaguls. Would definitely recommend it. You can go swimming, snorkeling or kayaking

A perfect spot for day trip. Short ferry ride to the island with a nice picnic area. Swimming, snorkeling, fishing, relaxing and there is a 30 mins guided tour. Clean toilets but no rubbish bins on the island. There is also a e-locker ($8 for medium or $12 for large).

Beautiful island. We saw a few penguins and a sea lion in the wild. Lots of lizards and other bird species breeding on the island. There is a ferry out to the island, however we did a kayaking day trip with Rivergods kayaking tours to both Penguin and Seal Islands. What an amazing day! Highly recommend seeing the islands this way.

Great place to visit! The ferry ticket is $25 round trip bought at the information center. There are a lot of pelicans living here . The whole island can be covered in about an hour also here great for surfing and snorkel!

Amazing gem along the WA coast. 6 minutes from Shoalwater, Rockingham. Swimming, snorkeling, trail walking along pristine beach. If course watching the penguins in the discovery centre. Sadly their numbers in the wild dwindled from 2000 to 150 & the centre will close mid year. You could walk around the island in one hour. In summary: Highly recommended.

Penguin island is a really small island just a few minutes of ferry ride away off the coast of Shoalwater, Rockingham. However, contrary to the name, penguin sighting in the wild on the island is as rare as a hens tooth! Fortunately, there are a few penguins at the small discovery centre that visitors can visit throughout the day and also at dedicated feeding times. The highlights of the visit for me is however not only the little penguins but the rugged coastlines and the short walking trail loop on the island. The views are truely amazing and will make great picnic spots for cooler summer days.

Penguin island could be a wonderful destination for a day trip with your family and friends. Penguin island gets its name from the colony of little penguins which nest in sand depressions under dense vegetation and in limestone caves on the island. The number of penguins that come ashore begins to increase in early March. This is the start of their breeding season. The waters surrounding Penguin island are home not only to the world’s smallest penguins but also to a variety of other wildlife, including wild dolphins, rare Australian sea lions, pelicans, ospreys, king skinks and over fifty other species of seabirds that nest on Penguin island and the nearby islands. Shallow bays and beaches make the island an ideal location for snorkeling and swimming. The boardwalks allow easy access to Penguin island while protecting the fragile ecosystem. There are toilet facilities near information center. You have to carry your own snacks and drinks from mainland to this island. Last but not the least, do not forget to carry a garbage bag with you as littering is prohibited on the island. You have to take your rubbish back to the mainland.

Even with cloudy skies, we had an amazing time at Perth Observatory! The tour was fascinating—full of insights about Perth’s role in space exploration and the observatory’s rich history. The staff were knowledgeable and passionate, and we learned so much despite the weather not cooperating. We’ll definitely be back on a clear night for some stargazing!

Staff members are very friendly and passionate to guide us to view different stars , and free hot chocolate and cookies are provided at the end of tour. However, if dense clouds stay in the sky, you cannot see stars clearly.

Strongly recommend visiting. Excellent volunteers and fantastic views - on the right night. Great little excursion from Perth!

It's a lovely experience that you get to see the night skies as you wouldn't have the opportunity if you live in the city. The experience with the telescopes and detailed explanation by the staff makes it a very meaningful experience. You will look at the stars in a different light. Kudos to the volunteers for the wonderful night. Oh they made it kids friendly too.

Awesome place day and night! Interesting museum and shop. We were lucky to be part of a group who camped overnight. Nice walk through area during the day observing the wildflowers and reading the information signs outside the various buildings. At night there is a golf buggy to drive you up to the various observatories. We opted to walk. We got a chance to see Saturn, the moon and various star clusters. It was a full moon which was great but difficult to see some stars as the moon was too bright. The volunteers were very knowledgeable. Afterwards we had a BBQ, great music and sat around a camp fire. Great experience! 👍👍👍

We included the Perth Observatory in our tour of the Bickley Valley on a Saturday afternoon. We were immediately greeted by lovely volunteers and opted to do a day tour with our family of 5 (2 adults, 15yo, 12yo, 6yo).We were guided by Patrick, who was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. Our family had a great time viewing the telescopes and learning about the history and the role Perth has played in some monumentous scientific endeavours. We are looking forward to returning for a night sky tour soon!

A great place for family outings. The waves and tides are low and safe, but later we noticed several jelly fishes and the area is very commercialised. There is environmental pollution emitting from the factories 🏭 and they take away all the natural outlook of this beach ⛱️ There are several playgrounds.

Spent a lovely afternoon here. It wasn't crowded and it was really just a few families and small groups relaxing on the beach at the time. The water was super clear and calm and it was refreshing to walk there. There are a couple of cafes nearby so you can grab a coffee or a soft drink. You can also wash up in the showers once you're done.

I recently visited Rockingham Beach and had an absolutely amazing experience. I went there specifically to catch the sunset, and it did not disappoint! The sky lit up with the most beautiful mix of colours shades of orange, pink and yellow blending over the calm waters. It was truly breathtaking. There are also lovely walking paths, seating areas, and plenty of space to just sit back and soak in the beauty. Whether you’re going for a stroll, a quiet moment of reflection, or a romantic evening, Rockingham Beach is a perfect spot.

Beautifully clean and safe beach. Water is completely safe with no rips or currents. In summer there is two pontoons you can swim out to. The jetty is used for fishing and docking boats however you can also jump off it just watch for fishing hooks. There is a sandbar and the water is relatively shallow so I recommend this beach for kids. The facilities around the beach are also great, the grass is well maintained and the toilets are relatively nice. There is many different playgrounds along the foreshore for different ages of children. There is a ramp on the sand for wheelchairs to be able to head closer to the water.

It was lovely weather in this day curing a rainy week, sun was shinning lots of people in the restaurants. Great atmosphere.

Gently shelving sandy beach perfect for children, a pier for fishing or jumping off into deep water and cafes with colourful sun shades make this a really attractive beach. Plenty of sitting areas if you just want to stop and gaze out to sea.

Ended up on late Sat early Sept to the lookout. Arrived around 6pm. Was drizzling, reasonable car parking but still busy despite the weather. Didn’t see toilets, but was mainly looking at view. Did scrambled across a few rocks to get photos. Will go back again to catch a good sunset!

Beautiful, tidy and a quiet place to go and enjoy camping or even a day visit . Nice paths to go for a walk. Good spot for kids to have a swim.

With plenty of parking and a grass area, pack a picnic and head to Lake Leschenaultia. Good spot for family and friends get together, especially if you have children. There is a barrier in place for swimmers. Outside the barrier seen paddlers on paddle boards and kayaking.

This location was an incredible experience for both our family and friends. We enjoyed an entire day immersed in activities. This is an ideal spot for camping. The kids had a blast swimming, and the highlight was renting a kayak. 30-minute or 1-hour sessions priced at $16 and $26 respectively. Needless to say, we're looking forward to making this a frequent destination.

Such a great spot for family picnic and gatherings. Plenty of car parking space, a great swimming spot, super clean flush toilet, great shower facility and lots of walking trails.

Perfect spot for a family day out. We did picnic, Bbq and enjoyed our swimming too. Continued with a fun time Kayaking. Beautiful natural views all around, we will be back for more!

Fantastic place for a drive, picnic or whole day out. Great facilities, very clean, lots of grass areas and shaded areas. BBQs available too, plus a shop. Bring bikes and water craft and spend the day relaxing.

Lovely place for a family day out. Pack a picnic or usethe BBQ provided there ( do get busy so may have to wait your turn) dedicated swim area in the fresh water lake but has sand like a beach to enter. Playground is there but the old cafe isn't open anymore so make sure you take own food and drinks. Limited seating is there so go early or take chairs ect.

Lesmurdie Falls is a great spot for a quick nature escape.The walk to the falls is easy and relaxing.perfect for all ages.The waterfall itself is beautiful, especially after rain. It’s peaceful, the air feels fresh, and there’s plenty of space to enjoy a picnic or take photos.

Stunning! Worth the drive. Enjoyable path, views, park. Well maintained and cared for. Keep children close as there are steep hills, slippery trails, and sharp inclines near the paths. We suggest getting there early in the morning. 6-9am at least. Less people and easier parking.

If you want some time out the house and feel like a house this is the place to go. Doing the full loop you may need some level of fitness and the track is unstable in some sections so situational awareness is required. Amazing fews I didn’t see any wildlife but the waterfall is just amazing. Adequately signposted when you trek and there are no toilets.

This morning I had the most refreshing start to the day at Lesmurdie Falls. Arriving at dawn meant I had the trails almost to myself, with nothing but the sound of rushing water and birdsong in the air. The cool breeze, golden sunrise over the Perth Hills, and the view of the city waking up below made it the perfect moment of peace. Hiking here at first light really is one of the best things you can do—nature feels alive, and so do you

This walk is particularly recommended in winter and spring when the rains swell Lesmurdie Brook which tumbles over the Darling Range Escarpment. A list of walk trails below are available from here of varying degrees of difficulty, Including: The Falls Trail. 640m return, Class 2, allow 45 min. The Shoulder Trail. 1.5km return, Class 3, allow 1hr. Lesmurdie Brook Loop. 1.5km loop, Class 2, allow 1 hr. The Foot of the Falls Trail. 2km return, Class 3, allow 1hr.

A hiking trail with a waterfall located in Lesmurdie. It’s best to come here during winter or the rainy season to see the stunning waterfall from above and below. This place is also known for its hiking trail, with many different hiking paths with different levels of difficulty and time to choose from. Most of the hiking trails are beginner friendly, so this is highly recommended to go with friends and family. Some of the trails can be quite steep, so be aware of that. There are less water sources to refill water, so it’s best to bring plenty of water. There are also plenty of photo spots to see the waterfall, so hiking is not required to see the stunning waterfall.

Beautiful location to go for a walk. There are several trails and at least two different car parks. The view of the waterfall is gorgeous and there's also a wonderful vista of Perth. Sometimes there's a portable coffee stand/snack bar which can be well earned treat after a nice hike. Suitable for more adventurous dogs who don't mind uneven and step terrain.
