Granite Skywalk, Castle Rock

Hiking Trails
The Granite Skywalk is a popular attraction located on top of Castle Rock, accessible via a challenging 2km hike and rock scramble. The walkway offers breathtaking panoramic views and is situated at an altitude of 670m. The path can be difficult at times, with narrow granite steps that can become slippery after rain. However, the stunning vistas from the top make it all worth it.
This place is incredibly beautiful! I didn’t do enough research before visiting the Granite Skywalk — I thought it was just another easy lookout you could reach by walking a few metres. Turns out, it’s a serious hike! The trail was much steeper than I expected, and I literally had to climb over big rocks to reach the summit. It was a tough but rewarding climb. When I finally made it to the top, the view was absolutely breathtaking. The platform is built around a massive rock, and from there, you get nearly a 180-degree panoramic view of the Porongurup National Park. It’s truly an unforgettable spot. I’m glad I did it, but next time I visit, I’ll definitely come more prepared for the hike!

Granite Skywalk – Castle Rock, Porongurup National Park We recently visited the Granite Skywalk at Castle Rock and it was absolutely worth it! The hike itself was enjoyable, with beautiful bushland and plenty of spots to take a breather along the way. The final climb to the skywalk was a bit challenging, but once you reach the top the views are just incredible – honestly one of the best I’ve ever seen in WA. The lookout gives you a full panoramic view over the Porongurup Range, Stirling Ranges, and beyond. If you’re in the Albany or Denmark region, this is definitely a must-do. A bit of effort to get up there, but the reward at the top is next level. Highly recommended!

The structure is good, there are toilets, barbecue areas, picnic tables, and plenty of carpark spaces. The trail is well built and marked, and offers an enjoyable hiking experience. At the end of the trail, there is a more accessible lookout. But for those looking for an extra challenge, there is another option as well. We saw kids and elderly people doing both. Just carry enough water, use trail shoes, a hat, and sunscreen… The final view is amazing and totally worth your effort. My husband and I are not the most fitness couple and we came back to our car in a little less than 2 hours. We paid $17 to access the park, but if you have plans to visit the natural bridge and the gap it will add an extra $17. So, our recommendation is to choose the weekly permit, because it costs $30.

We visited the Granite Skywalk, and the climb was quite easy for me as I’m younger — it’s about a 2.2 km ascent. Definitely not for the faint-hearted, and you must bring a water bottle with you! Along the way, you’ll see the famous Balancing Rock, and shortly after, the trail enters a boulder field. From there, you climb into an outcrop and onto the viewing walkway, which includes a fun ladder climb. The views from the top are breathtaking, with sweeping panoramic scenery. The trail itself is beautiful, passing by massive fallen trees — one of which has a section cut out so you can walk right through it. A really neat, all-round experience and absolutely worth doing if you’re planning on a bit of hiking in Porongurup National Park.

Pretty easy climb. Lots of kangaroos at the start. Do have to scramble up some rocks to get to the top but they have holds so it's pretty easy. Definitely recommend. Beautiful views
N — Google review
A good walk up the hill before getting there was well worth the effort. The view is extraordinary from the platforms. If you don't like heights, don't look down. Requires a bit of rock scrambling to get to the top platform, but achieveable by anyone who could climb a ladder.
J H — Google review
$17 for car day pass, pay at the electronic kiosk. Make a day of it as there are a few picnic tables as well as toilets. Didn't count them, but would be 1500+ steps. Don't let that put you off. A trek and a half up the level 4, 2k hike to the top. If you're a bit adventurous and a little nimble, the clamber over rocks and up the final ladder at the summit, rewards with views second to none. Just on an hour to the top at a leisurely pace and 35 mins back down, with around and hour at the summit. There is still a lower viewing platform should you not attempt the last 150m section. Make sure you secure your hats before going up top. Better perhaps if a couple of you could assist each other as needed. I rate the views with those from Ubirr in the NT's Kakadu. Take your time and even in winter take water, but please bring your bottles back. I would not advise for wheelchairs. There was plenty of parking, including areas for long vehicles and caravans. Had to head back as we were running out of light.

Porongurup National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Parks
Ancient granite domes laced with paths & nature trails, plus picnic areas & a viewing platform.
The Porongurup National Park is situated around 50 km north of Albany and makes for a fun day of hiking through mature Karri tree forests and up mountain sides dotted with huge ancient granite boulders. Entry is AUD$17 per standard vehicle or with a Park Pass. We visited two sections on the NP on the same day, starting early at the Castle Rock section in the east. From the Castle Rock carpark, there is a popular and fairly easy trail leading up to the Granite SkyWalk platform. Some impressive Karri trees on this trail, a unique Balancing Rock and then the skywalk platform which is free to access for panoramic views of the forests below and landscapes in the distance. We then made way to the western side of the NP later in the morning and completed the Devil's Slide trail from The Tree In The Rock carpark. This was a challenging yet very rewarding hike with stunning views easily rivalling those at Granite SkyWalk. Liked the look of the Nancy's Peak trail as well and would aim to tackle this one next time around. These trails require more time, fitness, proper walking shoes and are more exposed to the elements. After completing our morning hikes, we stopped by a couple of the wineries that had open Cellar Doors back on Castle Rock Road to pick up a couple bottles of wine to enjoy at our apartment rental back in Albany. This completed a very rewarding day out hiking in Porongurup NP, a great day trip option for those staying in Albany or within convenient driving range of the Park.

There's lots to do and see in the region. We spent 3 nights here . A good tip the wineries are more or less open only on the weekends.

It's a good walk up to the granite skywalk. Beautiful views are amazing how they did this a walkway on the side of a huge granite boulder need to be reasonably fit
Kerry W — Google review
Even in the pouring rain this place is impressive. Although the top walk was too much for me. Still it is a challenge.
Bronwyn G — Google review
Great hiking, great area. Nice and cool. Loved it. The kids loved it and the final ascent and views were amazing. Skywalk was very satisfying, but I thought it would be longer 😅 The balancing rock was a good spot for a break and photos!
Steph R — Google review
We had a fantastic walk up to the Granite Skywalk. A bit of a climb over some borders, then a view for miles around.
Ian P — Google review
It was really calm and quiet. Really muddy… Overall an experience thats never forgettable. Always can remember! Great views at the top. Theres a total of 5 Km walk.. be prepared for that long walk. Parking available but its 17$
Rueben — Google review
Visited the park on a weekday morning. It was peaceful. Took about 30 to 40mins drive from Albany to the park. Ticket price is at $17 for a car for a day. There is another trail (Walitj Meil Trail). Saw a few locals doing that trail when I was coming down from it. It's mostly flat ground for this trail.

Came across this little gem today. Sam was informative and extremely helpful, had a great tasting session of their wines and lunch was delicious and the views outstanding! Would recommend definitely as a place to stop and have lunch and just unwind for a while.
Karen L — Google review
This is a winery and cellar door along Porongurup Road in the national park area that is open for wine tastings from 11am to 5pm (Thursdays to Sundays). We made a stop here after hiking in the national park and before making way back to Albany and enjoyed trying a couple of their rieslings and late harvest wine along with very good almond & orange and sticky date slices, perfect for an afternoon wine and dessert stop. Purchased a bottle of their Riesling to take back and enjoy at our apartment rental in Albany. Slightly crispy and fruity with a bit of sweetness to balance out the wine, this was a very enjoyable Riesling, one we would gladly return to purchase additional bottles next time we are able to visit the area.
Brad — Google review
We arrived after our hike and were warmly welcomed despite not having a booking. We had a delightful experience here. We sampled several wines and were particularly fond of the savion blanch. It was my favorite savion blanch that we tried in Australia. We also enjoyed a tasting plate, which was exquisite. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth stopping by.

Such a beautiful winery. Lovely friendly staff, delicious food and wine, with a great view. Great value for the food and wine. I can’t wait to go back!

Lovely lunch spot. We stopped in here for a glass of Riesling and sharing platter. Lovely hosts and fab setting!

Very lovely place to visit for a drink or just to enjoy the scenery. The photo doesn't do it justice, the view is amazing! The riesling and rosé we had was exceptional and the host was very friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks for the lovely experience!

Passed this place on the way to the Granite Skywalk and took the opportunity to pop in to sample the wines on offer. Had a warm welcome from the host Eugene who guided us through his selection of wines. I enjoyed the Shiraz and the tawny port. Tastings are free, but if you don't buy a bottle, please put a donation in the charity tin.

Had a visit today through recommendation and was not disappointed, the views were stunning, Jemima was absolutely wonderful and welcoming, we enjoyed a cheese platter with a few wines … relaxing … 🥂

Bluff Knoll

Mountain peak
Nature & Parks
Mountains
1,099-m. peak in Stirling Range National Park featuring a popular hike with dramatic views.
Some of the best views I’ve ever seen. But, it was not an easy climb and the peak was extremely chilly. Also make sure to bring lots of water. Would recommend if you like hiking and want a challenge.
Rhys — Google review
Lovely walk and amazing views from the summit. It took us 4 hours return with our kids who are 9 and 11 years old that was with lots of stops! The track was quite busy due to being school holidays when we visited. There are toilets in the carpark and make sure you carry water with you. Great family day out.
Simon C — Google review
Very challenging hike, started at 5.30am, took about 1.5 hours to get to the top and about 1.5 hours coming down, was starting to get very warm on the way down, definitely recommend going early
IJohno _ — Google review
Nice “hike” with almost only steps 😅 Beautiful view, what’s worth it to get little pain in your legs. Weather conditions can change very fast near the top, be prepared for. Entry 17$ National Park Fee.

Absolutely stunning views and good adventure. A must do for every one living in WA. Best time to climb is in Spring or Autumn when it is not too hot or cold. For a fit and active person, it can be easily climbed in under 1.5 hours. And believe it or not, coming down is harder as some steps are long and you are stepping down into an uneven rock most of the time. Now for my personal experience: I climbed Bluff Knoll for the first time on 2nd of November 2025. Luckily it was a cold day with no sticking flies. We stayed in Albany and drove to bluff knoll early in the morning. We started around 6 AM. Mrs and 7 year old daughter gave up half way despite having plenty of breaks. After that me and my 10 year old son continued on and did the rest with no breaks. I calculated the time with my gps fitness watch which I paused for breaks. It took 1 hr and 20 minutes total climbing time. It is 3.3 km long and you ascent about 650 meters in the hike. I did some minor mistakes like carrying a heavy back pack with jumpers, snacks and water bottles for all 4 of us which slowed me down and we did not really use much of these things. I wore heavy boots thinking I needed it. But all you need is some comfortable shoes which are not slippery. Coming down as mentioned was much harder. Toilets are available. Parking is available. Plenty of tourists etc were there. Many of them had finished the hike when we arrived. Great experience and I will love to do it again.
M.A. K — Google review
Moderate hike, the walking trail is really nice. Will not lose your way. The only thing is plan when the weather is clear and no chance of rain otherwise the view will not be nice. And if you go on rainy or cloudy day, the whole charm is lost. We hiked mid October and the view was so nice with wild flowers blooming. Would recommend to hike like 4am if it’s in peak summer. We took 2 hrs up and 2 hrs down and it was really slow hike. We spent lots of time clicking on the way.
Dechen P — Google review
Watching sunrise from the **Bluff Knoll** summit is a deeply moving experience — the climb just before first light rewards you with sweeping views as the sky shifts from inky darkness to soft pastels, with clouds and mist often rolling over the Stirling Range ridges like waves. The cool air, the stillness, the low sun gently touching rocks and vegetation — it feels almost otherworldly. It’s a challenging hike (about 6 km return, with steep sections and variable conditions) so there’s real satisfaction when the golden hues finally break and you catch that moment where the land beneath you is awash with light. Even though you’ll likely be cold, maybe a bit tired, the view — fields, peaks, and valleys glowing in dawn’s glow — makes it completely worth it.
Sudheera S — Google review
Spoiler alert; lots of hikes clips attached. I have yet to find a more scenic hike in WA. The path is fairly well maintained. It is a 3hr round trip hike. No bathroom facility up top. Bring water and raincoat. The weather can change suddenly here. The flora along the path is unique. It changes from moderate forest to alpine scrubbs at the top. If you are lucky there are wild emus in the vicinity. I spotted their droppings only. At the top it is going to be windy. The day I went it was covered in rain cloud with zero visibility. There is no shelter from the rain so come prepared. I did a day trip from Perth but I think this is better combined with Albany sightseeing.

The cellar door experience is top-notch. No standing at the bar waiting to be served.... a proper sit-down tasting experience - and it is complimentary! The wines though..... oh their wines are so lush... we especially love the Malbec and Shiraz. We had their Clement V variant at a restaurant and really enjoyed that one also.

I dropped in here on my way home to Melbourne from Perth, and did the Sense of Place tour and tasting. What a great experience. Sage our hostess was delightful so knowledgeable on wine and winemaking. The property is stunning and the wines top shelf. The wines we had sent home arrived with beautiful packaging and presentation. I won’t say more as it could spoil the surprises packed in. A wonderful winery that shows its care and attention to details. I look forward to my next visit. Thanks.

Simply the best!!! Tracy led us on the Sense Of Place tour, which delved into the background of Single File wines and their philosophy, accompanied of course by some of their most magnificent wines. This is a world class experience that is perfect for those who are keen wine explorers or those celebrating a special occasion. Well done all at SFW but especially Tracy. Love your work🥰

This is a very special pocket of the planet. Too beautiful to accurately capture the essence of in a photo. Absolute perfection on a sunny winter afternoon. I look forward to enjoying the wine that is being posted to me at home now back in Qld ❤️

On a rainy cold afternoon we sought shelter at this beautiful classy winery and sat by the fire in a cosy lounge area to try your wines. We had a great personalised experience with a lovely female host ( originally from USA - unfortunately we forgot her name 🤦‍♂️) who took us through your great whites and reds 🍷. Really enjoyed the Malbec and Shiraz (purchased and beautifully packaged ) and had a delicious 🧀 cheese platter . Good prices and no tasting fee 😱! Thanks for the wonderful memories of your winery and of the Denmark area 👍

Great winery in Denmark WA. Visited several wineries in the Margaret river and south Australia region in Oct 2025 and this one turned out to be our favorite. Beautiful tasting room, excellent service, our sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and their wine is amazing. You have to try their reserve Chardonnay. Rates No. 1 in Australia and it is quite good. At A$ 63/bottle, the quality rivals the A$150+ bottles.

Wow what an experience. Tracey gave us the most in-depth wine tasting adventure, including a terrific introduction to the Singlefile wines. The ambiance and aesthetic design certainly makes this place a standout and not to be missed when exploring the Denmark region.🌹ps their rose garden was amazing.

This was our second visit here and both times has been great. All the animals are gorgeous and well cared for and the grounds are clean and tidy. The young lady at the front desk was very welcoming and chatty which was lovely. I loved being able to hold the joey and pet the kangaroos, alpacas, goats, sheep and mini cows. My kids especially loved the Guinea pigs and rabbits despite them being a bit timid. We will definitely be back again next time!

Denmark Animal Farm & Pentland Alpaca Stud is hands down one of the best farm experiences I’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived, it was pure joy !! baby Highland cows (yes, you can actually go into the pen for cuddles!), wallabies, camels, fluffy chickens, and even guinea pigs you can sit with. Every corner of the farm has something exciting and interactive, and the animals are so well cared for and friendly. The highlight for me was being able to get up close with the baby cows and feed so many of the animals, it felt so special and memorable. The farm shop is also worth a visit, full of beautiful alpaca products that make the perfect keepsake or gift. If you’re in Denmark or passing through, this place is an absolute must-stop. Fun, interactive, and heartwarming !! I’d give it a 10/10 without hesitation!

My autistic daughter is very particular about her animal farm experiences as she hates to see them unhappy/badly handled/stressed by crowds. She LOVED this place so that’s saying something! We had a great time, especially loved the highland coos :)
Georgina K — Google review
Great place to visit. We had a ball Anna went just for the highland cows but ended up interacting with all the animals. Staff was so friendly too
Stuart F — Google review
Great spot, only a relatively small place, but the animals here are some of the most gentle animals I have ever hand fed and are all happy and healthy. Highly recommend trying to get here at around 3pm to assist with the bottle feeding of the baby animals. My wife absolutely enjoyed it.
Chris H — Google review
You can actually go into pens and Pat or feed the animals. A beautiful up close experience like no where else.
Heather M — Google review
Awesome little farm, the animals interacted with the kids taking the food from them, the animals put on a good show for us with the baby goats playing with the highland cows.
Gillian M — Google review
What a nice stop for the kids. Despite the rainy weather it was a fun and interactive stop. Not too pricey and a nice stop for the family.

A great place to call in for lunch en route back to Perth town. A grand building in a lovely setting in the middle of Mt Barker. There is a small lunchtime menu and we shared a medium and a large. The menu did say that the large came with garlic bread. Ours never materialised. Maybe next time.
Fran C — Google review
This is a winery situated along the Albany Highway in Mt. Barker. This was the first winery and cellar door in the region back in 1975. Today you'll find a cellar door and cafe open from 10am to 4pm daily if interested in a bit of wine and food tasting while in the area. We recently passed by near closing time to grab a bottle of the Three Lion Riesling to enjoy back at our apartment rental in Albany. On the whole, it was pretty good, light, a bit crispy with floral and citrusy notes, a good wine to enjoy with seafood. Overall, nice environs, would make for a enjoyable place to try a bit of tasting next time around.
Brad — Google review
Lovely cellar door! High quality interior with a rich history from the surrounding area - it's lovely to know where all the materials are from. Great complimentary wine tasting (which these days are becoming rare), including wines from their premium range. I loved the fact that this place was open earlier than others (opens 10am) as we stopped in on the drive from Albany back to Perth.
REBECCA D — Google review
An awesome winery. The cellar door ladies are lovely and have a great sense of humour and local knowledge. They made us feel very welcome and we highly recommend an afternoon spent here.

Wonderful lunch and glass of wine. Pizzas were so tasty, the accompanying wine was perfect. We had to take ½ the pizzas with us as could not finish them. They were lovely warmed up in the evening. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend this for a visit.

Perfect place for a stop to top up some wines before head back to Perth !

Great front of house winery and kitchen just before you enter Mount Barker townsite. Well established winery and you cannot travel to the South West without visiting! Limited lunch menu but tasty. $40 for platter for two.

Great spot to stop and have a coffee and a look through the museum. Well stocked gift shop as well. Toilets are very clean inside the visitor centre (much better than the crazy busy Toilets across the road at the playground)
Kellie S — Google review
It's a good place to stop by and relax. We came on a public holiday (Queen's Birthday), it was not busy, and everything was open. There's an outdoor rose maze garden, a gift shop, cafe, and museum.
Phuong H — Google review
I've been wanting to stop here and take my time for years, but am always so rushed. This place is just beautiful. Local history covering yesteryear, shearing, flora, fauna plus the visitor centre, Cafe next door. A gorgeous display of freshly picked (with pickers license) wildflowers and native orchids that smelled divine. A really interesting stop and browse and well worth it.

Beautiful place. Well informed volunteers. The Museum is fantastic. The Rose maze was in full Bloom and truly beautiful.

Everyone knows I love this place, food is soooo good, also considering is kinda remote, service is really good and place big and diverse. 100% recommend getting the matcha latte <3

Surprising find in a relatively remote location. We had an iced coffee, mocha, prawn po boy (prawns were very tasty, I wish I'd ordered extra) The New York Reuben, some fries (especially good) and the pecan pie. Everything was very tasty. We will definitely stop in next time we're passing through.

There was a long line, but the service was excellent. There is a kids playground attached to the restaurant. The burger was fresh and delicious. Kid’s nuggets were slightly overcooked and the Thai beef salad was a bit overdressed, so it was a little bitter, but the flavors is still good. Overall, it’s a great stopover between Albany and Perth.
Gin T — Google review
Been here many times over the years and I always look fwd to the fresh sandwiches on offer. The bread used to be lovely. Called on the way to Perth in August and the fresh sandwiches were off the menu as well as hot chips. Only toasties available. Then again today there was no sign of these items on the menu. The menu used to be quite extensive but it has reduced substantially. I paid $6 for a piece of banana bread and i was served a cold thin wedge. Subsequently i left it behind. I would be embarrassed to serve this up to anyone. It’s hard to find good consistent dining places and this ‘used’ to be one of them. Be giving it a wide berth in the future.

Such an awesome wildlife experience. Shame it's so popular, but I'm glad it generates income for wildlife. Guides are super knowledgeable.

Really enjoyed our visit here. They are doing a fantastic job with saving these beautiful little creatures. Was a treat sitting in the dark with a red light and all these endangered animals hopping around us and the tour guide was really great you could hear the passion in his voice for them.

We saw all of the nighttime critters in the enclosure, which were as cute and fun to watch as expected. Shannon was a great guide, adding lots of interesting information and stories. Highly recommended!

The best OZ’s tourists spot near Narrogin. If you want to join this amazing experience, don’t forget to booking online.

Lovely experience! The lady was super nice and really knowledgeable. Unfortunately we saw no possums. We came for possums, we love possums. But we saw all the other animals! Even a Bilby! 10/10
Bridget Q — Google review
Fantastic evening, being shown multiple marsupials being kept safe here. Very informative talk given first, definitely alerted me to the hazards cats pose to wildlife. Everyone should have a chance to learn about these fantastic creatures and what we humans need to do to protect them.
Sally G — Google review
The best thing to do/experience in the narrogin/dryandra region! So many rare marsupials to see in a lovely sanctuary! It's a once in a lifetime experience because you won't be able to see these animals in the wild due to their reduced populations/endangered conservation status
Onyx S — Google review
Sensational experience. A splendid chance to see the native australian noctural marsupials feeding which is otherwise almost impossible to see. They have two large enclosed areas that are filled with a variety of marsupials which are fed during the nocturnal tour. It is a very nice sight to watch them feed and hop around. You will be very close to the animals and they will be observed under torch light. Not good for infants as staying quiet during the tour is essential. A good weekend tour from Perth

Fabulous multi- level challenge, family activity. Our group of 8 had age ranges of 5 to 57 and there was a course for everyone. I was impressed with the time spent in the trees, the safety equipment, the training and the overall professionalism. Make sure you complete your waiver when booking to save time. Picnic tables to sit & eat, & a cafe to purchase coffee and a few bites. Both physically and mentally challenging depending on the course you complete but a fabulous experience overall.

Absolutely beautiful day for all… definitely worth the drive but please book in advance. The staff were amazing and very Professional! My five children from 3 to 15 all had a great time, they can’t wait to do it again!! Also a staff member recommended seeing a beautiful King Jarrah tree that’s said to be over 400 years old not far from the treetop adventures and we followed the directions and found it, it was amazing and so beautiful, so thank you so much to the wonderful employee who recommended we see that before we go, it was such an amazing experience. Can’t thank you enough!

Had an amazing time at Tree Top Adventure with my family. The staff were approachable, friendly, and very professional. Before the session began, they gave us clear instructions and ensured everyone was confident and well-trained with the safety equipment. It suddenly started raining heavily during our session, but that actually made the whole experience even more exciting and memorable a true rain-soaked adventure! The courses were well designed, safe, and suitable for all ages. There’s also a separate Junior Course Adventure for kids, which is a great way for younger ones to join the fun safely and build confidence. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for outdoor fun, teamwork, and a bit of thrill with nature

Such a great experience. The safety is top notch and the adrenaline exciting. So many courses for all ages and all capabilities. My zip line came off when I launched a bit too jumpy and Jayden came to my rescue and helped get me back to a platform, having to pull me myself! Didn't make me feel bad or like I was a fool or inconvenience. Everyone was so helpful. They helped with my husband who wears a turban to accommodate and were very kind and respectful. They moved our booking to a more convenient time. Highly recommend for kids and adults!

The treetop adventures were absolutely beautiful and I love the scenic area, please give me likes for my review: I just love the scenic nature and people working. They were also very nice and they have lots of information providing the details of the flora. The gift shop was also nice as I bought a few souvenirs.

The location and crew are great! So are the different tracks. Not enough time, managed only 2 tracks, 2.5 hours, because of supervising the younger kids. Family of 5, 2 adults and 3 kids 21, 11 and 5. Price is a bit high, 270 AUD...
Eric B — Google review
Well worth the journey, the kids had a great time on the junior course. It was a real confidence boost as they got to grips with the different elements and by the third go around, could manage it all themselves (ages 5 & 6). Update: 6 years later the kids are 11 & 12, had a brilliant time, managed their first red course and we all loved the blue run that was zip line after zip line. Even on a warm day (32) it was nice and cool in the trees, shady with a light breeze. The staff were very friendly again, genuinely nice, helped the kids relax. The 2.5 hours went so quick, was glad we brought some sandwiches. Was thinking about camping here there's some nice looking sites next to here. But even with the 1.5 hour drive from Perth and back, we thought it was well worth it.

We were amazed at how busy this place was on a Sunday afternoon. There were lots of people in the visitor centre. You could rent a bike or take a stroll around the town. Everything is within walking distance. There are lots of eateries around. The main attraction would be the diesel or steam train, which buying a ticket online is highly recommended and to avoid disappointment. Great little place, highly recommended.

My husband and I had a wonderful time on the restaurant train last night. We had been wanting to try this for a while and it did not disappoint. From start to finish all the staff (volunteers) were friendly, professional, accomodating and polite. You can tell the effort they put in to make it a great experience for the passengers. The food reminded me of lovely home cooking and we were so full by the end. The train itself was clean and quaint. We highly recommend this experience to others looking for a unique experience and we’ll be returning for one of the day trips in the near future.

Great price for a gorgeous adventure, so nice to see the historical places being maintained as best as they can. Staff were amazing, the down to earth experience was a perfect family outing, thanks guys! Will be back to go on the other train soon 😁

Wonderful piece of railway history. Nice scenic ride through the forest and farmland. The whole organization is run by volunteer and enthusiasts and you can feel the love and the positive vibe throighout. I went on a Sunday afternoon and was able to get ticket on the spot. The ticket office has many memobrilia on sale and worth a look. The train and carriage is an older type similar to slow train in Thailand. There is a canteen on board selling drinks and snacks. The ride itself is around 2hr. It travels at only 10-15km/hr in a back and forth path. It would have been nice if there was something to interact at the stop. Tip: Wild flower was starting to bloom on 31 August. If you visit in September it should be in full bloom.
Nisit P — Google review
What a lovely place to visit, it’s a step back in time to the good old days. Old railway engines and carriages. There is a beautiful old railway station plenty of options for short rail journeys to explore the surrounding countryside. I can recommend going on an evening dinner rail tour.

Stunning location. Please keep WA clean Dwellingup is my favourite place to chill out & camp... Get a coffee and add the caramel honey.. It is absolutely delicious 😋
Rowdy H — Google review
Volunteers should be congratulated in providing this unique service, as the time required, not only to provide the journey experience, but also to maintain the train and carriages would be substantial. Before you head off, please ensure any children or others travelling with you can tolerate dogs in confined spaces. The 2 hour journey takes you through jarrah forests up and down the Darling Scarp where in places the track has a 7 degree gradiant is a pleasant way to relax and unwind, while appreciating the varying landscape. This seven degree gradient is the steepest around, and a 5 minute stop is required to build up the pressure in the boiler before tackling it.

I had the pleasure of booking the Edenvale Heritage Precinct in Pinjarra for my wedding, and it was a fantastic choice. The process to book through the Murray shire was very easy and the cost was very affordable. We booked it for a Saturday, which allowed us to pick up the keys on Friday and return them on Monday. The gardens and buildings in the precinct are absolutely beautiful and served as a picturesque backdrop for our garden wedding and reception. The inclusion of a small chapel for the ceremony was a delightful bonus. The community room, complete with toilets and a sink, was quite handy. The beautifully lit tree in the garden and the ample power points were the icing on the cake. It's a wonderful venue for a memorable wedding celebration. Photos taken by Lisa Watson Photography

Terrific spot, great cafe, shop, museum & art gallery in beautifully restored buildings. The heritage rose garden could use a bit of attention, but still a great spot.

What was going to be a quick pit-stop in Pinjarra, ended up wandering around the Evendale Heritage Precinct for nearly 2 hours. So many interesting things to look at and read about. Arts & crafts, museum, heritage building. And the tea rooms with the beautiful gardens. Across the road, the Murray River and other historic buildings, rose garden, lovely little church and the war memorial. Across the other road there is Cantwell Playground for the kids. Great place to stop and visit, spend a few hours wandering and have a tea & jam scone.
Angie D — Google review
Decided to drop into the Heritage Tea Rooms for brunch. Reasonable selection for light snacks. Larger meals also available. We saw one table had a 3 tiered stand with finger food😋 We decided to share a Reuben and a scone with jam and cream. Nice walk through the gardens to the various art, gift shops and machinery museum. The heritage rose gardens are across the road. The gardens need a bit if attention. Roses need pruning. The seat under the covered archway needs to be repaired or replaced. The creeper over the entry arch also needs a trim. The lawns and main building surrounds are well kept.

Ranger Red's Zoo & Conservation Park, located in Pinjarra just 20 minutes from Mandurah, offers a unique hands-on experience with over 100 species of birds and animals, including the Tasmanian devil. Visitors can participate in the Zookeeper 4 a Day program where kids can take on various zookeeper duties. The personalized care and passion of the staff for the animals are evident as they take time to educate visitors about the residents.
I think, Amazing, sums this place up pretty well. Plenty of close ups of the animals, including hands on experiences that you don't always get with the larger zoo's. The variety of Australian animals is perfect, the animal encounters are fun and informative, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Absolutely perfect place to take the kids or spend with your significant other. 5 out of 5 stars for sure.
Kale J — Google review
Heartbreaking honestly, I had fond memories of this place but today I did not recognize it. It feels abandoned.. and in dire need of maintenance.. my kids felt sorry for the animals. - Cages rusted and damaged - next to no greenery in most cages/pens - some cages are mislabeled - no signage for empty cages - some habitats don’t support the needs of the animals they house - saw no staff apart from the guy we paid, pretty sure there was a teen working for them but plain clothed so unsure - 4 adults, 4 kids and some food for the animals - $170 This place need a serious financial injection or should be shutdown. I honestly don’t understand the 5 star reviews, expectations for zoo standards should be much higher
Alex M — Google review
I read some of the reviews before visiting. While I understand some of the negatives, I did ask some of the staff questions. Yes Red might be on reception during opening hours, his in the park before & after opening hours. The animals have regular vet checks. Staff are approachable & quick to attend to any animal issues. The facility is 40 years old so yes it's old, but always receiving on going maintenance. There's a board next to the Koala enclosure that explains what it costs to run & maintain. Overall, there's a lot that goes on behind the scenes that isn't always obvious to the public eye and Redz Zoo is a wonderful place to bring your children and family to enjoy real authentic interactions with Australian Wildlife.

What a surprise! We were unsure what to expect when booking online. This is a great experience in a great environment. Well presented and so peaceful. I have never been anywhere this dirty in my life. animal droppings everywhere, so many flies that we had to cover our mouths while talking so we don't swallow. Waterfalls
Serpentine Falls, situated in the Serpentine National Park about 55 kilometers southeast of Perth, is a picturesque waterfall surrounded by ancient forests and wetlands. The area has a rich Aboriginal history and offers opportunities for swimming and picnicking. Accessible via a short 500-meter walk from the car park, the falls are popular among visitors due to their easy accessibility and facilities such as BBQs, toilets, and picnic tables.
Incredible waterhole. Currently (June) the water was similar temp to an ice bath, approx 5 degrees. We loved it, very awakening and refreshing. You will get out warm inside. Crystal clear water and beautiful surrounds.
Michael S — Google review
This is a really nice area to come for a picnic or barbeque. There's a number of spaces available to utilise the tables or bring your own chairs or blanket. The toilets are fairly reasonable and I did see the staff ensuring that they were clean and stocked up. The walk to the Falls is pleasant enough aside from rude people who have no awareness of seniors or people who aren't stay on their feet. At this time of the year the Falls are magnificent and it's good to see plenty of water there. It is astounding that at the entry you get asked not to feed the kangaroos and there are also signs asking people not to feed wildlife.....and yet they do what they want to get a photo of themselves or their kids feeding the kangaroos 👎👎👎 It's also astounding that people have no idea what a "One Way" sign is for and drive off to exit the park going against oncoming traffic. The place is terrific and there's a number of hiking trails too. There is a parking fee of around $17 but if you have a National Parks Pass then you can enter for free, but the staff will need to see your pass and confirm that it, and the vehicle, are both valid.
Paul S — Google review
It's very small height fall. The entrance fee is 17 AUD. However one can enjoy the Hiking near to the falls. Serpentine Falls is a beautiful natural spot, perfect for a day trip from Perth. The waterfall looks amazing after rain, and the surrounding national park has great walking trails with plenty of wildlife — we saw lots of kangaroos. There are picnic and BBQ areas, toilets, and good parking, making it family-friendly. It can get busy on weekends, so going early is best. A lovely place to relax in nature and enjoy the scenery.

**Serpentine Falls, located within the stunning Serpentine National Park just an hour's drive south-east of Perth, is a classic Western Australian natural beauty spot that makes for an ideal day trip.** The drive is easy, and the destination offers a wonderful blend of scenic views, accessible nature, and picnic opportunities. **The Star Attraction:** The main draw is, of course, the waterfall itself. Cascading 15 meters over a smooth granite rock face into a large, inviting rock pool, the falls are particularly spectacular after the winter rains (typically **late winter to spring, August to October**). Even when the flow is reduced in the drier months, the tranquil pool and polished granite surroundings are beautiful and a popular spot for photography. **Visitor Experience & Facilities:** The area around the falls is very well-maintained. * **Accessibility:** The main Falls Walk Trail from the car park to the lookout is short and largely accessible, making it great for all ages and fitness levels. * **Picnic Area:** The grassy picnic area is a real highlight, featuring excellent, clean gas BBQs, plenty of shaded tables, and clean toilet facilities. * **Wildlife:** Western Grey Kangaroos are frequently seen grazing in the picnic area, adding a wonderful Australian touch to your lunch. *Remember not to feed them!* **For the Adventurous:** If you're after more than a quick photo and a picnic, the park offers excellent bushwalking: * **Baldwins Bluff Nature Track (6km return):** A moderate climb rewarded with panoramic views over the Swan Coastal Plain and the falls from the summit. * **Kitty's Gorge Walk Track (14km return):** A longer, more challenging hike that follows the Serpentine River and Gooralong Brook, showcasing the park's lush forest, granite outcrops, and, in spring, stunning wildflowers. * **Arrive Early!** Serpentine Falls is extremely popular, especially on weekends and in summer. The park frequently **closes once capacity is reached (often before 10 am)**, so plan to arrive right when it opens at 8:30 am to guarantee entry and a good picnic spot. * **Swimming Safety:** While swimming is a popular activity in the rock pool, visitors should be aware that **jumping and climbing from the rocks is prohibited and dangerous** due to submerged hazards and varying depths. Water quality also varies, so check for local alerts before getting in. In summary, Serpentine Falls is an essential, highly-recommended Perth day out. It's a fantastic spot for a relaxing family picnic, a short nature stroll, or a challenging bushwalk—just remember to set that alarm!

Great weekend hiking spot! Absolutely loved this place! Not so much water falling, but it was prestine and beautiful! The Waterfall itself is suitable for older people, as it's very short walk, but there are other trails that go around the falls if anyone wanted tk do extra workouts! Go during monsoon season to get the best experience!

Serpentine Falls is a scenic spot with two enjoyable trails. Access to the falls and rocks is restricted for safety, but the area is still perfect for those who enjoy walking and nature.

Wow ! Nice spot. We went on a Tuesday morning so wasn’t expecting it to be busy - but it was. Nice BBQ areas, easy walk to falls. Was nicer than I expected. Recommended for a summer swim and lazy family day out.

This is part of the serpentine national park. You can swim but caution is advised as people have been injured here in the past. Very peaceful and quiet if you visit during the week, it’s open from 8am to 5pm daily.

Cohunu Koala Park is a family-friendly destination where you can interact with Australian wildlife. Located in a 14-hectare natural bushland, this park offers the opportunity to feed and hold koalas, kangaroos, and other animals as you wander through designated tracks and pathways. In addition to native fauna like kangaroos, deer, parrots, and emus, there's also a farmyard area with ponies, pigs, and donkeys.
Wonderful place to hold Koala in your hands and feed them , only thing is the smell around the place is quite unpleasant. Otherwise the place has very good views of kangaroos, ostriches and birds . Kids will love to see the place
Mohammed A — Google review
Very child friendly! Adults can see it's badly in need of funding, looking run down and old but kids don't take notice of those sorts of things. I took four children aged 1-8yrs and they had a great time feeding animals from their bags of popcorn (bought from reception). There's a variety of caged animals but also lots of different animals walking freely around the grounds! It was fun to see the kids meet goats, deer, alpacas, geese, peacocks, emus, kangaroos and more - just wandering right up close for a pat without needing to look over the fence or thru a cage!! Quite unique.
Rita P — Google review
We really liked it here. There is a wide range of animals to see, lots of hands on experiences for the kids, and a very easy to walk around (flat ground and paths). The kids had a great time.
Ruth T — Google review
We’ve been to this wild life park since they were in Armadale, great to see the improvement on the koala area, koalas were quite active on the time we visited, we even got to see a baby koala, my kid had such an amazing experience holding a koala. Emus and geese inside the park can be a bit aggressive towards the popcorn bags but they can be easily shoo off (a couple of geese bite on my kids pants, no harms done and the kids found it funny), suggesting not to let young kids holding the food bags or they can be easily snatched away by the birds. We saw wombats and crocodile in the enclosed area, met some peacocks, donkeys, ponies, lamas and deers on the way to the kangaroo pan, kangaroos and wearables are super cute, there were quite a few with Joey in their bags! We had such a great time there!
Sonia L — Google review
It was a wonderful experience being able to hold a koala. Plus, if you buy the feed for just 4 dollars, you'll instantly become popular with all the animals!
Tom-sawyer — Google review
Went there for a Koala experience. Place is rundown. Broken fixtures everywhere. Filthy, stinks and empty. Some animals (not all) look in bad shape and depressed. Was quite sad to see the state of the place. The place is truly overpriced for the state it is in. Not worth $80 (includes entrance, photo with koala and feeding wallabies).
Ella R — Google review
Excellent visit! Animals and birds were friendly. Expensive at 20 dollars per adult but I guess it’s to sustain the park costs . Our autistic young man loved feeding the birds

A project once made fun of now stands as one of the most important places in WA history. When Nature's beauty and man's creativity gets merged, wonders get created .Such a wonder was built between 1898-1903 for the purpose of transporting water to the Easter Goldfields of Kalgoorile. The dam is now under the Water Corporation of WA and their website provides information about the dam details such as facilities,Opening hours , direction etc. https://www.watercorporation.com.au/About-us/Visiting-our-dams/Mundaring-Weir The No1 Pump Station is a great place to learn about the incredible early engineering technology that they had used to pump water nearly 600km from Mundaring Weir to the Goldfields. This place is really a must see and one of the beautiful places to know more about heritage, to take wonderful pictures of scenery and even spend time with family or friend groups. https://youtu.be/c3O16ZOH0Eg The place have picnic areas, public toilets and walking trails. This project once called as "Scheme Of Madness" was designed by Thomas Crowley Hodgson and was brought to life by an Engineer in Chief C.Y.O'Connor. At present day the weir supplies water to the Eastern Goldfields and Agricultural region. The walking trail experience throug the Weir , lawns and gardens are really a great experience to get to the historical importance of this place. The Mundaring Weir now forms a part of the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme or The Golden Pipeline.

The Mundaring dam is a top local attraction and just 15 minutes from the Mundaring town site. There are panoramic photo opportunities during a crossing of the dam wall. On one side is the picturesque reservoir and on the other the heritage pumping station with its tall chimney stack. A less explored area can be discovered at the far end of the dam wall (coming from Mundaring Weir Road). A steepish descent, down a series of steps (with handrail) to the base of the dam wall, leads visitors to the pumping station (100m). A tranquil place surrounds the museum with a few rest benches under some shady trees. There is also an interesting electronic meter that turns over / counts - every time 1000 litres of dam water is used in Kalgoorlie (located nearby the pumping station museum). The Mundaring Weir park area is extensive and perfect for BBQ's with a number of designated areas complete with stove tops. There is an abundance of majestic trees (many varieties). A natural habitat for birdlife and the perfect place for a relaxing stroll. A few friendly kangaroos are always out and about.

Nice place to drive and cycle to. There are kangaroos, free fruit and a weir that supplies drinking water for Perth. Also there is the story and the bust of C.Y O'Connor. An engineer that supplied the goldfields with liquid gold (water). There is also a rose garden in the middle of nowhere, a great plethora of colours is observed during spring and a bit of summer. It is an awesome walk along the top of the weir.
Martin S — Google review
A wonderful place to visit on the Perth Hills, having the state’s one of the most important engineering structures, access to the weir overseeing the idyllic C Y O’ Connor lake, plenty of walk trails and benches through the greenery of wild flowers and trees. Large number of gas top barbecue facilities along with separate toilets for male, female, disabled on both sides (west and east) of the weir. Several water fountains nicely positioned, offering quick rehydration and a splash on the face on a hot day. We were lucky enough to have been greeted by a family of kangaroos in the bush to the east of the rose garden. The viewing area to the south of the C Y O’Connor Memorial offers a splendid view of the both sides of the weir. One caution; be aware of mosquitoes and flies in the afternoon.

First time coming here, and I was very pleasantly surprised! Harry, the very informed guide who explained a lot how the solar system works and the sun 🌞 absolutely amazing 👏 info. Even with cloudy skies, we had an amazing time at Perth Observatory! The tour was fascinating—full of insights about Perth’s role in space exploration and the observatory’s rich history. The staff were knowledgeable and passionate, and we learned so much despite the weather not cooperating. We’ll definitely be back on a clear night for some stargazing!

It's a lovely experience that you get to see the night skies as you wouldn't have the opportunity if you live in the city. Kudos to the volunteers for the wonderful night. Oh they made it kids friendly too.

Awesome place day and night! Interesting museum and shop. We were lucky to be part of a group who camped overnight. Nice walk through area during the day observing the wildflowers and reading the information signs outside the various buildings. At night there is a golf buggy to drive you up to the various observatories. We opted to walk. We got a chance to see Saturn, the moon and various star clusters. It was a full moon which was great but difficult to see some stars as the moon was too bright. The volunteers were very knowledgeable. Afterwards we had a BBQ, great music and sat around a camp fire. Great experience! 👍👍👍

Lesmurdie Falls National Park, located in Mundy Regional Park just 30 minutes from Perth's CBD, is a top destination for nature enthusiasts. It boasts a stunning waterfall, scenic lookouts with panoramic views of Perth, and an abundance of wildflowers during the spring season. The park offers five hiking trails ranging from 0.5 to 3 kilometers in length, catering to various skill levels.
What a lovely area to visit for an easy to moderate hike! We came here in the month of April and the weather was fantastic. Not too hot and not too cold - clear blue skies with very fresh air. This area is a little busier than the rest during the middle of the day but isn’t too crowded. We did the Lesmurdie Brook Loop and the great thing with this path is it can connect to other areas - this gives a good variety of hikes for duration and difficulty!

Stunning! Worth the drive. Enjoyable path, views, park. Well maintained and cared for. Keep children close as there are steep hills, slippery trails, and sharp inclines near the paths. We suggest getting there early in the morning. 6-9am at least. Less people and easier parking.

If you want some time out the house and feel like a house this is the place to go. Doing the full loop you may need some level of fitness and the track is unstable in some sections so situational awareness is required. Amazing fews I didn’t see any wildlife but the waterfall is just amazing. Adequately signposted when you trek and there are no toilets.

This morning I had the most refreshing start to the day at Lesmurdie Falls. Arriving at dawn meant I had the trails almost to myself, with nothing but the sound of rushing water and birdsong in the air. The cool breeze, golden sunrise over the Perth Hills, and the view of the city waking up below made it the perfect moment of peace. Hiking here at first light really is one of the best things you can do—nature feels alive, and so do you

The Shoulder Trail. 1.5km return, Class 3, allow 1hr. Lesmurdie Brook Loop. 1.5km loop, Class 2, allow 1 hr. The Foot of the Falls Trail. 2km return, Class 3, allow 1hr.

A hiking trail with a waterfall located in Lesmurdie. It’s best to come here during winter or the rainy season to see the stunning waterfall from above and below. This place is also known for its hiking trail, with many different hiking paths with different levels of difficulty and time to choose from. Most of the hiking trails are beginner friendly, so this is highly recommended to go with friends and family. Some of the trails can be quite steep, so be aware of that. There are less water sources to refill water, so it’s best to bring plenty of water. There are also plenty of photo spots to see the waterfall, so hiking is not required to see the stunning waterfall.
Sadewa 4 — Google review
Beautiful location to go for a walk. There are several trails and at least two different car parks. The view of the waterfall is gorgeous and there's also a wonderful vista of Perth. Sometimes there's a portable coffee stand/snack bar which can be well earned treat after a nice hike. Suitable for more adventurous dogs who don't mind uneven and step terrain.

The park boasts over 25 exhilarating rides, including the award-winning Abyss roller coaster and the enchanting Dragons Kingdom. Additionally, Adventure World is set to unveil a $7 million mega water slide, making it the steepest, tallest, and longest of its kind globally.
Just loved Adventure world! We've been to the 2 water parks in Melbourne where we live and all the theme parks in Gold Coast. Honestly didn't expect much in Perth but wow we're we surprised. The roller-coaster was super fun! Only about a 5-10min wait, I loved how the split the line from front and back seats so it's faster. Personally I think the ride could have been faster but still great. The Goliath was epic, a must see. Cracken was great too, very similar to the ones in the east with little wait. Go karts go about 30kmph so a little slow but kids loved it, you need a tshirt and closed shoes. We had our 3yo with us, so we spent a lot of time at the toddler/little kids area. Great space and so many rides. I think adventure world beats all the east theme parks in this department. The kids were there for 2hours and will loved it. Loads of car park space, lockers and toilets for everyone. Highly recommend going.

Definitely come to Adventure world during the weekdays between morning to afternoon, there is less rush and you’ll make your money’s worth by coming. Sure is one of the most expensive parts of Perth, but utilising your season pass will pay off the fun. Perhaps one of my favourite rides was the abyss, the dynamic and the thrill gave an excitement which made me go on for six times. Food on the other hand was satisfactory, I ordered cheese pizza which was quite expensive considering how small it was, it came out quite burnt. Luckily, the lady was nice and gave me another pizza but it was still burnt. But I’m not a fussy eater so I ate the pizza anyway. Overall Adventure world is costly but it is a nice place with a nice environment and SpongeBob like song choices. It’s a family fun environment and has great ride options however they should add a lot more rides. The cost is way too much so you should get the season pass. Overall four star rating

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Went to Adventure World on a Monday — highly recommend if you enjoy not standing in queues. Rides were basically “walk in, scream, repeat.” 👶We took a 4-year-old and a 1.5-year-old. Baby got her standard two rides (the VIP baby package, apparently), then spent the rest of the day supervising other people’s fun. 🩷Our 4-year-old, however, treated the place like her personal theme park and went on her favourite rides three or four times without a single wait. 🍕The park itself? Beautiful. Clean. Lots to do if your kids are big enough. 🙃**A few staff members had that “please don’t talk to me” customer-service energy, but nothing tragic.** If you’re planning a visit: weekdays = peaceful, minimal queues, maximum energy left at the end of the day. Kids will be thrilled; parents will survive. Overall, worth it.

Janette B — Google review
We’ve been Adventure World season pass holders for two years now - mainly because it’s right next to our son’s ice hockey training at Cockburn Ice Arena, so it’s been a convenient place to unwind after games. Last year, we went four or five times and had some great experiences with friendly and proactive staff. However, our recent visit (Sat 18 Oct) was disappointing. The park was crowded (as it often is), and we waited around 40 minutes for just one ride. It’s a consistent issue - if you’re there for only 2 hours, you’re lucky to experience three or four rides. What made this visit particularly unpleasant was an incident on the pedal ride (the one where you cycle around the park) at 16 55 pm on Sat 18 Oct (giving you the exact time so you can find out who was working on the ride then - 2 young ladies - and provide them with adequate training). A group of teenagers behind me repeatedly bumped into my carriage, even after I asked them to stop. It eventually caused me to be pushed into a staff member at the unloading area, who initially thought it was my fault. Although the situation was later understood, it was disappointing that one of the attendants chose to turn it into a joke rather than handle it seriously (her exact words to the teenagers were: so, are you gonna pay me money to forgive you for your behaviour?) It didn’t feel professional or safe at all, and there was no: so sorry you had to go through this - zero empathy (instead I was accused of bumping into the attendant on purpose). Adventure World has a lot going for it - beautiful grounds, fun rides, and family-friendly facilities - but staff training really needs improvement. Team members should be better equipped to handle guest behaviour, have difficult conversations respectfully, and maintain a sense of authority without escalating situations. We always bring our own food because the food lines are long and prices are quite high when the park is crowded. Unfortunately, after this experience, we’re reconsidering renewing our season pass next year.
Anna C — Google review
I would recommend this park for families with young children or teenagers. However, the weight restrictions did impact our visit, as we were only able to go on a few of the waterslides. We now realise this information is noted on the website, but it would be helpful if it were made more prominent. The monorail has also changed to allow only one adult at a time, which made the experience feel a little underwhelming after waiting in the queue. We brought our own food and drinks to save money, which worked well, and the locker system was excellent. The rides were fun but limited and we thought it would be great to have small TV screens displaying ride photos to help keep guests entertained while waiting in line. Overall, we would definitely recommend the park to visitors under 90kg, as they’ll get the most out of the experience.
Kayla R — Google review
Adventure World is a fantastic theme park that offers a great mix of thrilling rides, exciting water slides, and a fun atmosphere. I recently visited the park and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. One of the highlights of my visit was the incredible selection of rides. The Abyss roller coaster was an absolute adrenaline rush, with its steep drops and fast twists. I also enjoyed the Kraken, a unique water slide that sends you plummeting down a near-vertical drop. For those looking for something a bit more relaxed, the park also offers a variety of family-friendly rides. The water park section of Adventure World is equally impressive. The Kahuna Falls is a massive water playground with multiple slides and water features, perfect for cooling off on a hot day. The Lagoon is a huge pool that's great for swimming and relaxing. In addition to the rides and water slides, I was also impressed with the cleanliness of the park. The grounds were well-maintained, and the facilities were spotless. This made for a more enjoyable experience overall. I also had the chance to attend one of Adventure World's night time events. The atmosphere was electric, with music, lights, and special entertainment. It was a truly memorable experience. Overall, I highly recommend Adventure World to anyone looking for a fun-filled day out. With its thrilling rides, exciting water slides, clean environment, and amazing night time events, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Cultural landmark
Fremantle Prison is a significant historical site, serving as an interactive cultural exhibit on convict life. It offers tours and features a cafe for visitors to explore. Located in the town of Fremantle, this large penitentiary is the state's first jail and the largest structure built by convicts. The area also boasts other attractions such as the Western Australian Maritime Museum, which overlooks the Indian Ocean and showcases various maritime artifacts including a winning America's Cup yacht, Australia II.
I joined two tours consecutively, True Crime and Behind Bars. The entire experience was great! From the moment we stepped in, all the staff were very welcoming and helpful. From the guy I assume was acting as concierge, the receptionist lady, all the way to the guides. They all made our experience seamless. Sylvia was our guide for the true crime tour and she was absolutely lovely! If you get the chance to join her tour, you're in for a treat! She was an ex prison officer at the Fremantle Prison, so her stories were even more chilling from a first person perspective. But her humour balanced it out perfectly. It was interesting to learn that most of the guides earlier on were prison officers but I believe Sylvia is one of the last of these guides. Annette was our guide for behind bars and she was so friendly and knowledgeable. I also appreciated how she constantly acknowledged the presence of Aboriginals in the history she talks about. Certainly would want to come back for tunnel tours if we are in Fremantle again.

We took the 4 PM guided tour at Fremantle Prison and found it genuinely interesting. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging, and the historical insights were well presented. It’s definitely worth visiting if you’re curious about Western Australia’s convict past and prison architecture. However, we were quite disappointed by the lack of clear information beforehand. We had called in advance and were told that the site was only accessible via guided tours, and that there was no walk-through museum. Based on that, we scheduled our visit around the tour. Unfortunately, after the tour ended, we discovered that there is in fact a museum area at the front of the prison. No one mentioned this to us on the phone or when we arrived, which was frustrating. By the time we finished the tour, those areas had already been closed off, so we missed them entirely. It’s a real shame, because we would have planned our visit differently had we known. Clearer communication would have made a big difference.

Visited yesterday and got to see and learn some more history of this great town of ours.. Was very interesting listening to the stories of early pioneers and convicts that shaped our city. Walking through the prison was thought provoking, certainly was tough on the occupants throughout the years.

We visited the Fremantle prison today (Tuesday) around 12.15pm and was luckily told there was a Behind the Bars tour at 12.30pm. There are other tours that goes on at different times and the Tunnel tours. We only opted for the one tour where we only had 6 other people in this tour group. Our tour guide was James. He was very humorous and engaging. James made the tour fun and interesting. Thank you James for making us giggle! Had a great time learning about the history of the prison and the life of a prisoner. Would definitely want to the other tours another time when I visit Perth again!!! NOTE it was not busy on this tour Ticket price: AUD 24pp Duration of tour: 1 hour and 15 mins

Fremantle Prison was a super interesting visit with well-informed, engaging guides. I only toured the prison itself and was really pleased I went — lots of history and context. The tour might run a bit long for younger kids, but it’s excellent for adults and older teens.

I didn’t realise how incredible this place was until I got there! The visit was truly impressive, full of atmosphere, history, and emotion. Walking through the old cells and hearing about the early days of Western Australia gave me a real sense of what life was like back then. A must visit if you want to experience the true heritage of WA.

Highly recommend the Wednesday night Prison Torchlight Tour! Our guide was truly outstanding; their storytelling was superb, making the history feel incredibly real and interesting. It was a perfectly timed about 1.5-hour tour and was very reasonably priced. A fantastic night out that's excellent value for money. (Just a heads-up: parking will cost about $7 extra.)

I was surprised at how large the detention facility was. The guide was very thorough in explaining things. You can also borrow audio guides in other languages for free. You cannot tour the facility unless you make a reservation for the tour. I recommend making a reservation by phone.

Brewery
In Fremantle, a visit to Little Creatures Brewery is a must for beer enthusiasts. Housed in a former crocodile farm, this oceanside brewery has been serving up its pioneering Pale Ale since 1997, contributing to the rise of Australian craft beer. While now owned by Lion, the brewery still offers its fruity and hoppy brew alongside an expanded range under the White Rabbit label.
Online reservation for the brewery tour was a breeze! Straightforward and hassle free. Advisable to reach 15 minutes earlier. Daily tour is 11.30am and 3pm. Our guide was the staff named Hiru, amazing and friendly lady! Super detailed on the history and processing of all the different kinds of beer available. Tour includes 10 different types of their beer. 10/10 would recommend!

Beautiful seaside microbrewery perfect for family & kids! Wonderful service by Ciro the pizza chef whom gave my little one some pizza dough to play with! Great pizza and beers! Awesome experience and if you are lucky, you can spot some dolphins swimming around in the sea too!

We visited quite a few breweries around Western Australia and our favourite is the Hazy Lager from Little Creatures. The atmosphere is relaxing. Besides the beers, we also enjoyed the mussels. The portion is decent for two and the taste is amazing.

Came here with my sister. It was super busy. Lots of people but we managed to snag a table upstairs. We didn't tour the brewery only stopped for a glass of vino as Little Creatures was recommended to us. Did not disappoint. Recommended

I visited both Little Creatures Brewery, Fremantle and Gage Roads Freo Brewery. Unfortunately, the day I visited Little Creatures Brewery was overcast and chilly, which made the terrace seating virtually impossible to enjoy. As a result, my overall satisfaction was higher at Gage Roads Freo Brewery, but Little Creatures Brewery, Fremantle is still a thoroughly enjoyable venue. The high-ceilinged pub area, which includes an open kitchen, was a great spot. I enjoyed an excellent tap beer, along with a pizza recommended by the staff, for dinner. They also sell canned beers and merchandise if you are looking for souvenirs. While it took a little while, I was able to order and happily drink a total of three different beers—I chose the smallest size for each. I can only imagine my experience would have been even better on a sunny day, so I felt a bit unlucky with the weather. Nonetheless, this is a brewery well worth visiting.

First time visiting a brewery, it is pretty impressive. If you like to enjoy the view, go up to the second floor. Did the beer tasting tray, i would recommend the bigger tray, it is more worthwhile. Little creatures beer in general is not bad. I just felt the merchandises were too expensive. Even if i wanted to buy as a souvenir, i would think twice.

Used to come here alk the time as a kid with my family! Amazing environment and super kind staff! However i ordered the cheeseburger and it came a little soggy and was super drenched by the time i had taken 2 bites. Other than that the burger tasted great, the pizza was amazing, and the fries were perfect!!

Great spot for dinner and drinks. We went Saturday night and couldn't fault anything. Both our pizzas were delicious, chips were also a must! Beers and drinks were very good (brewed in-house, which is always a bonus). We really enjoyed the music and atmosphere. It did seem like a shorter menu than usual (I believe a few more options would be better). Overall staff were friendly and we will definitely be back!

Traditional market
Sights & Landmarks
Fremantle Markets, established in 1897, is a bustling indoor market offering a wide array of goods including food, local produce, clothing, and handicrafts. The market is housed in a historic building and has become a hub for local talent, supporting fashion designers and musicians. Visitors can also enjoy nearby attractions such as bookshops and boutiques along South Terrace. Additionally, the area offers dining options ranging from inspired bakeries to fish markets.
Definitely go and check out this place. It was quite busy but worth fighting the crowds. Food was absolutely in abundance. Lots of stalls to look at and the atmosphere was terrific. The fruit and veg stalls were super fresh and if I lived locally I'd definitely be a regular visitor.
Kylie R — Google review
Pretty nice place to walk around! The market’s split into two parts — one side has more products and goods, the other side is the food and wet market. The goods are mostly the usual market items, but still fun to browse. The food section is the highlight — lively atmosphere, good smells everywhere, and lots to try. Worth a visit if you’re in Fremantle!
Eunice Y — Google review
Pretty small and not the most amazing of markets I’ve been to. There’s some food on the other section that was interesting like Burek and Tibetan but I think if you’re really tight on time you can skip this place. Only the coffee beans store I saw was truly unique. The market also has started having pop mart and labubus popping up, making it more commercial than i thought. Interestingly the urinals are pretty cool, first time I’ve seen them like this.

A must visit if in Perth. Open on weekends, this place is bursting with art, toys, food, culture, homemade craft, fun, and exudes a great family vibe. Drop by, grab a souvenir, some grub and a some lovely fruit to make your weekend perfect.

If it's your first time visiting, this iconic market must be on your list! It's a small market with local artisans. Could be crowded if you come around lunch time on a sunday. We rounded it twice, once to have an overview & the second time to buy what we wanted. The honey cake was a standout imo. It was so so good! Maybe just have a slice.. or two! We also tried Lola's giant spring roll (crispy pork) which was also good and very filling. A bit on the oily side but the vinegar and sweet chili sauce makes up for it. Perfect tasty snack!

A must-visit in Perth – full of life and local charm! Fremantle Markets is one of the best places to experience the real Perth vibe. The atmosphere is vibrant and colourful, with buskers playing music, the smell of amazing street food, and people from all over the world wandering through the old heritage halls. I loved the mix of handmade crafts, vintage clothes, Aboriginal art, fresh produce and international food stalls — there’s something new around every corner. The building itself is beautiful and full of history, which makes the visit even more special. It gets busy on weekends, but that’s part of the fun — the energy is incredible. Everyone’s friendly, the food is fresh, and the music gives it a great local feel. If you’re visiting Perth, you can’t miss Fremantle Markets. Go during the day to catch the live buskers and soak in the atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone who loves local culture, food, and good vibes!

-Nice place to visit for FREE. with a lively local vibe and lots of interesting stalls. However, it’s more of a one-time experience, once is enough. -Kindly note the trading days of this place. -There’s a toilet available, but seating areas are quite limited, so it can be tricky to find a spot to sit and eat. -Surprisingly, there weren’t as many yummy food stalls as expected. -Overall, a fun stop while in Fremantle, but not something I’d return to often.

What a bustling place this is. Full of independent and food stalls it was packed when we visited and this was only a Sunday in early Spring. It’s an historic old building worth a walk through and a browse. It was the vibrancy that struck me. Almost as manic as a Turkish Bazaar.

The WA Shipwrecks Museum, housed in a restored 1850s-era commissariat building, is a captivating attraction in Fremantle. It boasts an extensive collection of shipwreck artifacts that offer a unique insight into the maritime history of Western Australia. Visitors can explore original findings and exhibits from numerous shipwrecks along the coast, including artifacts from the earliest Australian shipwreck and stories of sunken ships dating back to the 1600s.
Awesome attention to detail in this museum. The content could exceed hours and hours of reading. Highly recommend visiting, of course free entry is an option. But a few coins from your car or handbag could contribute in a big way.

The museum is free admission but visitors can donate to the museum. It contains histories about so many ships that got stranded along the WA and Fremantle coastline. Interesting facts and stories, it also has a Batavia shipwreck on display. The museum shop is nice as well.

A very worthwhile visit for a small donation, this museum has some very interesting history and artefacts of shipping. A fabulous book and gift shop. Get there early and snag a carpark out front and then lunch at one of the several restaurants.

Lovely exhibit. Its amazing how much care in their restoration efforts they put into all of the displays. The front desk was super helpful and made sure to let me know that admission to the museum was free. You are free to donate to the WA shipwrecks museum and it is not blatant or forced. I enjoyed the hull of a wooden ship and how you can see it from 2 levels.
Hiilani A — Google review
COOLEST MUSEUM EVER!!! You can see an actual (partial) shipwreck with interesting commentary from different prospectives and it’s so interesting to just navigate it on your own. I loved it. Oh, and best parti is— it’s free!
Carola G — Google review
It's not a terribly big museum, but it houses some pretty big broken pieces of exhibits from various ship wrecks. There are quite a few old cannons as well as small artefacts on display. The anchor that is about 2-storey high is impressive. It's worth visiting if one is in the area. Admission is free.

This place was fabulous to visit. It's free entry so no one can complain about that. So much interesting stuff to discover and see. My son loved all the models of the boats.

Very smooth sailing and lots of great vantage points available. The crew were so friendly and helpful. Loved the free icy pole. Would definitely choose Sealink again!

We explored a few ferry services and Sealink had the best prices and timings. It was a breeze booking through its website and boarding at the ferry terminal. The ferry ride was smooth. The staff gave informative commentatories throughout, and even alerted the passengers to the whales frolicking near the ferry during the ride. Highly recommended if you intend to visit Rottnest Island from Perth or Fremantle.
J T — Google review
They are the earliest ferry arriving on the island, so you can enjoy nature a little more for yourself because it does get crowded in some places. Sealink was very organized, clean, professional and on time! We booked the ticket and bike combo! It was great!

We took the Sealink Ferry from Fremantle over to Rottnest for our Honeymoon. I couldn't recommend these guys high enough. From start to finish it was a really amazing experience and we enjoyed every second. All the staff were so nice and friendly, the boat was on time and on return you even get an icy pole. 11/10

I recently took the Sealink Ferry to Rottnest Island, and it was such a pleasant experience from start to finish. The booking process was straightforward, and check-in at the terminal was efficient and well-organized. Our ferry departed exactly on time, which I really appreciated. The crew were friendly, professional, and clearly well-trained — they made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. The ferry itself was spotless inside, with plenty of seating and clean facilities, which made the short journey very enjoyable. Rottnest Island is beautiful, and I’d definitely recommend using Sealink to get there. If there’s one small suggestion for improvement, it would be to offer a combined ticket that includes the island’s hop-on hop-off bus service. I had to book that separately through another platform last time, and it would be great to have everything in one easy package.

From Barrack Jetty, you get a lovely scenic cruise along the Swan River before arriving in Fremantle to transfer to a larger boat for the Rottnest Island trip. The ride across to Rottnest was smooth and quick, and the staff were all very friendly, greeting everyone with smiles and wishing us a great day. Everything ran right on schedule, so it’s definitely worth arriving early, especially for the afternoon return ferry, as the boats leave promptly. If you’d like to make a day of it, you can also hop off at Fremantle on the way back to explore the area and catch the train to the city instead of returning by ferry. Overall, a professional and well organised operation with genuinely friendly crew. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience. Very friendly, entertaining and informative. Great commentary along the Swan River too. Skipper angled the boat across a rough crossing to ease the movement across the front of the vessel. Bike hire were great for the island too. Straight off the vessel and onto the bike.
