Lovely walk and amazing views from the summit. It took us 4 hours return with our kids who are 9 and 11 years old that was with lots of stops! The track was quite busy due to being school holidays when we visited. There are toilets in the carpark and make sure you carry water with you. Great family day out.

Very challenging hike, started at 5.30am, took about 1.5 hours to get to the top and about 1.5 hours coming down, was starting to get very warm on the way down, definitely recommend going early

Nice “hike” with almost only steps 😅 Beautiful view, what’s worth it to get little pain in your legs. Weather conditions can change very fast near the top, be prepared for. Entry 17$ National Park Fee.

Moderate hike, the walking trail is really nice. Will not lose your way. The only thing is plan when the weather is clear and no chance of rain otherwise the view will not be nice. And if you go on rainy or cloudy day, the whole charm is lost. We hiked mid October and the view was so nice with wild flowers blooming. Would recommend to hike like 4am if it’s in peak summer. We took 2 hrs up and 2 hrs down and it was really slow hike. We spent lots of time clicking on the way.

Watching sunrise from the **Bluff Knoll** summit is a deeply moving experience — the climb just before first light rewards you with sweeping views as the sky shifts from inky darkness to soft pastels, with clouds and mist often rolling over the Stirling Range ridges like waves. The cool air, the stillness, the low sun gently touching rocks and vegetation — it feels almost otherworldly. It’s a challenging hike (about 6 km return, with steep sections and variable conditions) so there’s real satisfaction when the golden hues finally break and you catch that moment where the land beneath you is awash with light. Even though you’ll likely be cold, maybe a bit tired, the view — fields, peaks, and valleys glowing in dawn’s glow — makes it completely worth it.

Spoiler alert; lots of hikes clips attached. I have yet to find a more scenic hike in WA. The path is fairly well maintained. It is a 3hr round trip hike. No bathroom facility up top. Bring water and raincoat. The weather can change suddenly here. The flora along the path is unique. It changes from moderate forest to alpine scrubbs at the top. If you are lucky there are wild emus in the vicinity. I spotted their droppings only. At the top it is going to be windy. The day I went it was covered in rain cloud with zero visibility. There is no shelter from the rain so come prepared. I did a day trip from Perth but I think this is better combined with Albany sightseeing.

Such a beautiful place to hike. If you want to see sun rise, be sure to set your alarm to wake up early, i set mine at 3:30am. Make sure you bring torches with you. Wear extra layer of clothing or jacket. Make sure you bring coffee with you. You would like to enjoy coffee when you reach the top. Some path can be dangerous if being silly. Other than that, gear up and enjoy the spectacular view of bluff knoll.

Visited GSD with a friend from Melbourne for the first time. Beautiful location, very lush green hidden amongst beautiful tall trees shading trees. A large venue with inside & outside seating. Merchandise available to buy as well as take away bottles of Gin, Scotch etc. we ordered a tasting paddle 3 different selections each. Unfortunately on the day the service was very slow, the waitress that took our order forgot us, I went inside to see what had happened & she was at the bar doing another tasting for a couple that had walked in after us. I asked how long our paddles would be as I need to get back to Perth but she seemed confused, another waitress helped me & then brought them out 10 mins later. The gin is ok, my Mebs friend really liked the one they had for the Perth festival & got 3 bottles for her & her mates to take home. I would not let this experience stop me from going back again. Food menu looks yum but we did not order food.

Highly recommend if you’re a Whiskey lover and visiting Albany. Really enjoyed the Whiskey tastings. Their pizza with house made BBQ sauce is stellar too ✨

How can you come to Albany and not have a whisky tasting at Limeburners? You can't. Lots of whisky to choose from and to simplify matters a few flight options are suggested. All delicious.

Great service and impressive product knowledge from the bar person. Enjoyed the tastings for top quality internationally acclaimed whiskies. It is expensive so potentially not for those on a tight budget. Also great gins to try.

We were expecting poor service after reading a few old, negative reviews. We we pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome that we received. I was the non-driver who enjoys gin, not whiskey. I did some gin tastings, not a tour which is why I have only given 4 stars instead of 5 as I couldn't fully review the venue. They also make vodka. My husband was driving and was given a free coffee while I did my tastings. $3. Per gin. I bought a bottle so was happy to only pay for 2 of the 4 that I had sampled. Our experience was a surprisingly good one so I would recommend a visit.

It’s very pricey, and they charge for tastings, but the spirits are delicious. We also drank some of the best coffees we’ve had in WA.

Nice venue and some interesting tasting whisky (of what we tasted). But the service was simply appalling. The girl came accross as if she was doing us a favour by servicing us, like we were intruders, a nuisance and an inconvenience. Did not sty long, left with a 'bad taste in my mouth', and nothing to do with the whisky. Worst service I have received in quite a while. Will not be going back, nor recommending this place to any friends.

To be honest I expected more wind turbines but they are huge and an interesting visit. A nice walk around the farm, take water with you. Nice lookout over to Albany town from the top lookout

Granite Skywalk – Castle Rock, Porongurup National Park We recently visited the Granite Skywalk at Castle Rock and it was absolutely worth it! The hike itself was enjoyable, with beautiful bushland and plenty of spots to take a breather along the way. The final climb to the skywalk was a bit challenging, but once you reach the top the views are just incredible – honestly one of the best I’ve ever seen in WA. The lookout gives you a full panoramic view over the Porongurup Range, Stirling Ranges, and beyond. If you’re in the Albany or Denmark region, this is definitely a must-do. A bit of effort to get up there, but the reward at the top is next level. Highly recommended!

The structure is good, there are toilets, barbecue areas, picnic tables, and plenty of carpark spaces. The trail is well built and marked, and offers an enjoyable hiking experience. At the end of the trail, there is a more accessible lookout. But for those looking for an extra challenge, there is another option as well. We saw kids and elderly people doing both. Just carry enough water, use trail shoes, a hat, and sunscreen… The final view is amazing and totally worth your effort. My husband and I are not the most fitness couple and we came back to our car in a little less than 2 hours. We paid $17 to access the park, but if you have plans to visit the natural bridge and the gap it will add an extra $17. So, our recommendation is to choose the weekly permit, because it costs $30.

We visited the Granite Skywalk, and the climb was quite easy for me as I’m younger — it’s about a 2.2 km ascent. Definitely not for the faint-hearted, and you must bring a water bottle with you! Along the way, you’ll see the famous Balancing Rock, and shortly after, the trail enters a boulder field. From there, you climb into an outcrop and onto the viewing walkway, which includes a fun ladder climb. The views from the top are breathtaking, with sweeping panoramic scenery. The trail itself is beautiful, passing by massive fallen trees — one of which has a section cut out so you can walk right through it. A really neat, all-round experience and absolutely worth doing if you’re planning on a bit of hiking in Porongurup National Park.

Pretty easy climb. Lots of kangaroos at the start. Do have to scramble up some rocks to get to the top but they have holds so it's pretty easy. Definitely recommend. Beautiful views

A good walk up the hill before getting there was well worth the effort. The view is extraordinary from the platforms. If you don't like heights, don't look down. Requires a bit of rock scrambling to get to the top platform, but achieveable by anyone who could climb a ladder.

$17 for car day pass, pay at the electronic kiosk. Make a day of it as there are a few picnic tables as well as toilets. Didn't count them, but would be 1500+ steps. Don't let that put you off. A trek and a half up the level 4, 2k hike to the top. If you're a bit adventurous and a little nimble, the clamber over rocks and up the final ladder at the summit, rewards with views second to none. Just on an hour to the top at a leisurely pace and 35 mins back down, with around and hour at the summit. There is still a lower viewing platform should you not attempt the last 150m section. Make sure you secure your hats before going up top. Better perhaps if a couple of you could assist each other as needed. I rate the views with those from Ubirr in the NT's Kakadu. Take your time and even in winter take water, but please bring your bottles back. I would not advise for wheelchairs. There was plenty of parking, including areas for long vehicles and caravans. Had to head back as we were running out of light.

Excellent experience but a long walk up to Castle Rock. 2.2km from the parking and mostly low steps uphill. Well worth it t.

This is a winery and cellar door along Porongurup Road in the national park area that is open for wine tastings from 11am to 5pm (Thursdays to Sundays). We made a stop here after hiking in the national park and before making way back to Albany and enjoyed trying a couple of their rieslings and late harvest wine along with very good almond & orange and sticky date slices, perfect for an afternoon wine and dessert stop. Purchased a bottle of their Riesling to take back and enjoy at our apartment rental in Albany. Slightly crispy and fruity with a bit of sweetness to balance out the wine, this was a very enjoyable Riesling, one we would gladly return to purchase additional bottles next time we are able to visit the area.

We arrived after our hike and were warmly welcomed despite not having a booking. We had a delightful experience here. We sampled several wines and were particularly fond of the savion blanch. It was my favorite savion blanch that we tried in Australia. We also enjoyed a tasting plate, which was exquisite. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth stopping by.

Passed this place on the way to the Granite Skywalk and took the opportunity to pop in to sample the wines on offer. Had a warm welcome from the host Eugene who guided us through his selection of wines. I enjoyed the Shiraz and the tawny port. Tastings are free, but if you don't buy a bottle, please put a donation in the charity tin.

Had a visit today through recommendation and was not disappointed, the views were stunning, Jemima was absolutely wonderful and welcoming, we enjoyed a cheese platter with a few wines … relaxing … 🥂

There's lots to do and see in the region. We spent 3 nights here . A good tip the wineries are more or less open only on the weekends.

It's a good walk up to the granite skywalk. Beautiful views are amazing how they did this a walkway on the side of a huge granite boulder need to be reasonably fit

Great hiking, great area. Nice and cool. Loved it. The kids loved it and the final ascent and views were amazing. Skywalk was very satisfying, but I thought it would be longer 😅 The balancing rock was a good spot for a break and photos!

It was really calm and quiet. Really muddy… Overall an experience thats never forgettable. Always can remember! Great views at the top. Theres a total of 5 Km walk.. be prepared for that long walk. Parking available but its 17$

Visited the park on a weekday morning. It was peaceful. Took about 30 to 40mins drive from Albany to the park. Ticket price is at $17 for a car for a day. There is another trail (Walitj Meil Trail). Saw a few locals doing that trail when I was coming down from it. It's mostly flat ground for this trail.

Absolutely stunning beach in the national park. A must see. A natural toilet available but no bins, take your rubbish with you.

Amazing campaign grounds, tent only, no electricity. Have toilet and car park. Road is unsealed but still safe drive. Front is beach and behind is mountain, we love here. 👍🏻

West Cape Howe is absolutely stunning—raw coastline, steep cliffs, and a remote feel, yet it’s only about 40 minutes from Albany. Shelley Beach is a quiet, beautiful spot for a swim or picnic, with amazing views and even hang-gliders overhead. The nearby wind farm adds to the scenery, and Albany makes a great base to explore the area with its charm, history, and great coastal access.

We came back after two years for the same season, between xmas and new years. It's great because you don't need booking and it's a wonderfull hidden corner. This time though, the camp host was nowhere to be seen, so campers went unleashed and placed tents (8pax) on dunes and big families rocking up blocking cars at the parking bay. It wasn't a very pleasant experience, but I guess you have to come down on a more quiet period. Still I think that the place lacks of proper camping policies/etiquette, even when there is no one to supervise especially in such a small camping ground. Please remember to be respectful with nature and rest of campers, carry your rubbish back with you and NEVER BLOCK CARS IN A CAR PARK, especially in areas of difficult access.

Visited Gilbert's for lunch and some wine tasting. We had the share platter between 3 people and it was delicious, sitting out on the verandah with views of the Porongurup Ranges. We tried an excellent variety of wines. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend a visit. Dogs on leash welcome.

What a beautiful brunch & our lovely hosts were soooo accommodating without a booking. We had a fab cheese platter, yummy scones & delicious 3Devils Shiraz. We are NEW locals & feel very welcomed to the area 🙏

We had the cheese flight and chocolate flight- absolutely fantastic! We left it to the owner (sorry I forgot your name!) to pair for us, and she did super well. My fav was the Riestling and my friend’s the Rose. The son was very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend for anyone to stop by, not just for the wine, but also for the hospitality and service. Not forgetting the adorable dogs too!

This place is amazing! The rocks literally look like Elephants herded together in the water! It's only a short walk across the rocks to the green pools which was breathtaking! The only negative was the bloody Flies!!! Oh and the wind haha but amazing place, bucket list checked off!

The turquoise water and smooth boulders make it perfect for photos, relaxing, or just soaking up the beauty of nature. The short walk from the car park is easy, and there’s a lookout point that gives you an amazing view from above. It can get a bit busy during peak times, but it’s worth every minute. A must-visit spot in Denmark, WA!

My favourite place to visit when in Denmark. So peaceful and I could look at the views all day!! It has it all....you can swing in the calm, sparkling, clear waters, snorkel, walk or hike along the rocks. I see something new each time I visit!!

Beautiful rock formation. Beautiful Green pool. Can walk to the beach. Free entrance, free and ample parking. Room for caravans and campervans. Short walks to lookout points. Only problem was the abundance of house flies, swarming all over your face..

So do they look like elephants…..well yes they do. Easy walk down to the rocks and the beach area. Look out for lizards on your way so have your camera ready. If the tide is right you can get down to the sand and look around. Plenty of parking and toilets too.

Getting too many "Tourist Coaches", large Caravans and large "Camper Vans" visiting, the car park isn't suitable for these sort of vehicles? Also the amenities aren't suitable for a large amount of visitors, very small toilet block, with no shower facilities and a tank fed water supply.

One of the best car parks in the area. There is a toilet and sealed roads. Pure luxury.

Denmark Animal Farm & Pentland Alpaca Stud is hands down one of the best farm experiences I’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived, it was pure joy !! baby Highland cows (yes, you can actually go into the pen for cuddles!), wallabies, camels, fluffy chickens, and even guinea pigs you can sit with. Every corner of the farm has something exciting and interactive, and the animals are so well cared for and friendly. The highlight for me was being able to get up close with the baby cows and feed so many of the animals, it felt so special and memorable. The farm shop is also worth a visit, full of beautiful alpaca products that make the perfect keepsake or gift. If you’re in Denmark or passing through, this place is an absolute must-stop. Fun, interactive, and heartwarming !! I’d give it a 10/10 without hesitation!

My autistic daughter is very particular about her animal farm experiences as she hates to see them unhappy/badly handled/stressed by crowds. She LOVED this place so that’s saying something! We had a great time, especially loved the highland coos :)

Great spot, only a relatively small place, but the animals here are some of the most gentle animals I have ever hand fed and are all happy and healthy. Highly recommend trying to get here at around 3pm to assist with the bottle feeding of the baby animals. My wife absolutely enjoyed it.

You can actually go into pens and Pat or feed the animals. A beautiful up close experience like no where else.

Awesome little farm, the animals interacted with the kids taking the food from them, the animals put on a good show for us with the baby goats playing with the highland cows.

Family of 5 - 2 adults, 3 kids aged 12, 4 and 2. So much more than just dinosaurs! We had the best day today, hanging out with the most beautiful birds, kangaroos, snakes and of course the dinosaurs 🦜🦘🐍🦖 When we arrived, we had the place to ourselves and the man who build and owned this amazing place, Bill, gave us so much information about dinosaurs, the amazing birds and the reptiles. Not only were the robotic dinosaurs and replica dinosaur skeletons absolutely amazing, but we were able to hold and interact with birds every colour of the rainbow, feed and pat two gorgeous kangaroos and we got to have a private meet and greet with 3 of the tamest, friendliest mini python snakes - which is what our 4 year old loved the most! What a great day 🙌🏻

We had a great time at dinosaur world. The kids loved the dinosaurs, reptiles and wild life. For entry we got to see all the animals, hold some reptiles and birds and feed some kangaroos. Even on a rainy day we were leant some umbrellas so we didn't miss out.

Nice place. Have done a lot of effort to manage it. Bill was kind n smiley. Ample parking. Dinosaur caricatures, snakes n lizards, kangaroos, n plenty of parrots. One can hold n pet the reptiles. Must see for kids. Small souvenir shop. Moderate fee/charges.

The owner was super nice and let me hold a baby snake! Many of the birds are out of their cages and free to roam which is amazing for visitors and the birds themselves. Snakes were also really cool and surprisingly active and you can even feed a couple kangaroos! Very much worth a visit especially if you're already here to see the tree top walk, can't recommend it enough!

Saw the sign while driving from Denmark and decided to go and have a look - best decision! Such a unique and interesting place. Dinosaur figures + skeletones and interesting alive snakes. Favourites were a lot of different birds that are freely roaming around and say some phrases and are super friendly. Some fly/climb on you and want cuddles. Also two kangaroos that we got to feed and pet. The owner of this place is such a cool person who tells you different stories and showed us a young python that we got to hold! Overall a very welcoming and great place for both kids and adults. So glad we saw the sign and decided to visit!

2 adults. 1.5 hours. We had a lovely time here. Arrived at 10:00 before anyone else. There are lots of different types of parrots. Some of the parrots are free to roam around and are friendly. The owner was great, very informative, friendly and inviting, thank you for making it such a nice visit. He kept the parrots safe and showed us that they use their mouths/beaks to find out about the world. We also fed the kangaroos, these were very gentle with soft fur. The lizards and snakes were informative, nothing to be afraid of. The dinosaur animatronics were fun.

We first visited in 2018 and they have expanded their dinosaur display which the grand children loved. There were more aviaries outside with beautiful birds most of whom can't be released. There were snakes and bobtails that children/adults could hold plus an information session. Others snakes were able to be viewed in a safe environment.

An attraction that shouldn’t be missed! Felt mesmerized walking along the Tree Top Walk. You can really feel how natural and preserved the place has been kept. The beautiful trees make are picture-worthy. Definitely worth the experience.

The Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk is truly one of the iconic experiences in Western Australia and absolutely worth a visit if you’re in the Albany, Walpole, or Denmark region. We stopped here on our way back from Albany, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip. The treetop walkway takes you high up into the canopy of the famous tingle trees, giving you a completely different perspective of the forest. The views are breathtaking, and it feels like walking among giants hence the name! The walkway is very safe and stable, so even if you’re a little nervous with heights, it’s still very manageable and well worth it. This is also a wonderful place for families. Our kids absolutely loved it, especially discovering the two fairy doors hidden along the way little touches that spark curiosity and imagination. On the ground level, the Ancient Empire walk is equally fascinating, taking you past enormous trunks and hollowed trees that have stood for centuries. If you time your visit well, I highly recommend staying for the sunset. Watching the forest glow with golden light from up in the treetops is a magical experience we’ll never forget. There’s also a visitor centre with a gift shop and friendly staff who are more than happy to share local knowledge about the trees and the region. Parking is easy, and the site is well-maintained, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Overall, the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk is a must visit attraction in the South West whether you’re a couple, a family with kids, or a solo traveller. It’s both educational and awe inspiring, and it makes you appreciate just how special and unique Western Australia’s forests really are.

Saw this place on a TV show and thought us live to go there. Thankfully it lived up to the billing. Reasonable entrance fee tgat gives you access to two walks, one of which is through the tree canopy on a well contrcted framework of bridges and platforms. The other walk is through the forest with lots of information boards along the way. We were 4 adults and three children all under 10. All of us really enjoyed it. The gift shop at the entrance had plenty of reasonably priced merchandise too. Would visit again if I am lucky to be in the area

A dreamy place for a walk in the woods. We recommend the free guided tour. The path through the ancient empire is especially interesting for children, as there are dwarf doors to discover in some of the tree trunks. The treetop walkway is breathtaking. Those who are afraid of heights should be aware that the bridges sway a bit. In return, you'll enjoy fantastic views from 40 meters above the ground.

We visited on a public holiday during school holidays and it did get busy by late morning there was no long waits for tickets. (You can pre purchase. Concession available.) I would recommend going at a quieter time to soak in the beautiful surrounds. Highly recommended. Especially so if you love birding. Great views of birds including many rosellas and Gilbert’s honeyeaters. Also enjoyed the free walk at the end: ‘Ancient Empire.’

Lovely walk through an ancient forest. I preferred the walk at ground level vantage point, but the tree top walk was certainly beautiful too. We came first thing in the morning and it became busy very quickly! Go early to avoid crowds.

We recently had the chance to experience the Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk, and it was truly unforgettable. This place is a real standout for anyone who loves nature. As we climbed to a height of 40 meters, we felt completely surrounded by the ancient 400-year-old gum trees, their towering gnarled branches stretching majestically towards the sky and sometimes crossing our path so slightly. From the moment we stepped onto the walkway, the fresh scent of eucalyptus filled the air, reminding us of the vibrant ecosystem all around, and we could hear the soothing sounds of the forest—the rustling leaves and distant bird calls. The walkway gently sways beneath your feet, so if you’re not a fan of heights, it might give you vertigo, but it’s all part of the experience! Walking among the treetops, we were captivated by the stunning views. The lush canopy with its vibrant mix of native greens and the pops of color from the wildflowers peeking through on the forest floor. Each step offered a new perspective, and we couldn’t resist putting a short video together to capture the breathtaking scenes and serenity of this forest. After our adventure above the trees, we took a peaceful stroll through the Ancient Empire Walk below. This serene path winds through a grove of ancient tingle trees, creating an almost magical atmosphere. It was the perfect spot to pause, reflect, and appreciate the incredible history of these giants that have stood for centuries. The Valley of the Giants Treetop Walk is more than just an attraction; it’s a celebration of nature. The well-kept pathways and friendly staff made the experience even more enjoyable. Without a doubt, this was one of the highlights of our trip through the South West, and we can’t recommend it enough. If you get the chance, don’t miss the opportunity to walk among these giants—your spirit will thank you!

Absolutely amazing! Beautiful in the dry; incredible in the wet season! A massive volume of water was flowing when we were there. The unpaved road isn't in the best of condition. The actual waterfall and pool area is very way to access, with great walkways. The boardwalks can be a bit slippery. There are some steps. Very much worth stopping here when driving past!!

Beautiful place, lovely amenities, great place to camp. Beautiful place to swim in (Summer) freeze your balls of in winter. Really recommend coming here. Road has just been graded today the 2nd of September 2022 from south west highway to mount Franklin.

Good simple camp with old but clean long drop toilets. There is a 1 small hut, otherwise all other camps are standard, but look like they have recently been made flat. Perfect for swags, tents, roof top camping. Some spots would be good for groups, otherwise the camp spots are tucked into the bush. Most spots with fire rings and we had a small pile of firewood and a bin provided.

Peaceful beautiful walk amongst nature. Not alot of water this time of year but totally enjoyed the scenery. Picnic areas, toilet available.

Went at the best time, just after storms. Plenty of water flowing over the rocks. Very spectacular. Huge piles of foam building up in places. Nice place just to walk around. Camp grounds look great.

Come and see this during early Spring and the water will cascade over the rocks from everywhere. Has a camping ground and a great place to stop and stretch the legs.

My dog and I really enjoyed this nature trail. It was fun, looking around to spot the artwork that was both hidden, and in plain sight, along the trail. The faces in the trees are wonderful, as are all the installations, and all credit goes to the artists who contributed to the trail. Great job!

If youre going past Northcliffe, certainly DONT give this one a miss!! You really must stop by for this restorative trail on your travels! What a beautiful and interesting nature walk! Instead of looking ahead as you do on regular trails, this art trail had us searching the ground, in the trees and more! What a beautiful tourist attraction in a beautiful little town! Highly recommended and will visit again! Great little gallery and gift store at the entrance, with a cute little Cafe almost ready to open for visitors! Can't wait to return once the new additions are in!

This was an easy walk and lots of amazing artwork integrated into the Aussie bush environment. Very impressive. Well worth visiting.

I will be honest, I was not expecting to like this as much as I did. Some really interesting pieces of work. It was $45 for a 30 bush walk for the family (2 adults and 3 kids). Seemed a little pricey initially but felt worth it by the end.

We really enjoyed walking through the art and nature trail even though it was drizzling rain. If anything, it added to the experience. Very clever idea and well worth a visit.

Have driven through the area many times yet never knew this was here. So delighted to eventually discover it July 2022. There was a $10 per adult entry fee to do the 1.2km walk via the Visitor's Centre, but well worth the price. So many creations to encounter, all with more or less something to engage the imagination. The walk took us about 45 minutes. Most of the pieces show some level of decay from being in the bush (some since 2006), but that's part of what makes this type of art "alive". Apparently you can do the walk with an audio track to listen to. Maybe that's something we'll have to go back for.

This place is so interesting and full with beautiful art that compliments life in the forest. The walk is easy and you are provided with a map with all art pieces and nature facts, as well as a collection of soft music and a podcast about the walk which is cool!

Beautiful spot just out of Pemberton, easy to access just a short drive from town. You can't climb Gloucester Tree anymore but still worth checking out

The Gloucester Tree is a fascinating place to visit and a big part of WA’s history. I came here early in 2021 when it was still open for climbing — trying to going up that tall karri tree was an unforgettable and slightly nerve-wracking experience! By mid-2023 it was under maintenance when I came to visit, and now it’s no longer safe to climb. Still, walking around the area is still impressive, surrounded by tall karri trees that make the forest feel so peaceful and majestic. Even without the climb, it’s a great spot to stop, take a walk, and soak in the natural beauty. *photos from 2021

Great place / zipline Park is fantastic. Friendly people. We walked to the Gloucester Tree after our lunch at Chefingo's @The Forest Lodge Resort. It's only 1 k walk through the Forest Aboritum. We enjoyed the place and had great food at Chefingo's.

I went there on a Saturday morning and decided to go up at a slow pace and stop as I needed. It was really good experience and really nice views from the top. It gets windy up there but doesn't feel unsafe at all from the platform. I recommend proper shoes to feel comfy all the way.

So much fun, if you are alright with heights then your going to be able to climb the tree and see the view from up on the platform. If heights are not your thing there are plenty of lovely walk trails and a spot to have a BBQ.

Do it, the youngsters climb the 52 metres to the platform really quick. It took me a while longer and it was worth it. Great view, and when you consider this was an actual look out tower, this is a bit of modern Australian history. Note: sturdy footware recommended.

The Gloucester Tree is a 53 metre tree near the town of Pemberton, WA. It is located within a national park and can be climbed. The cost of admission is the regular national park entry fee. There is NO HARNESS and only a bit of wire "mesh" to keep you from falling so it can definitely be a dangerous adventure. However, nobody has ever died from a fall there and the views from the top are absolutely spectacular. The climb is NOT recommended for children/any unfit person, however, anybody is welcome to give it a go. The climb is strenuous and very steep and is near vertical for a good chunk of the ascent. If you aren't totally freaked out by heights, give this a go because it's an incredible experience!

Fabulous! A truly immersive experience for all ages and interests. Journey on the historic tram to the Cascades waterfalls, explore for a while then journey back. Bravo to the team who operate and maintain these historic tram. Gift shop has many treasures- bring a gold coin to donate for tea/coffee. Blankets provided to keep knees warm. Loved this experience

One of the highlights of Pemberton is the tram ride. A really quaint and beautiful ride for both myself and my woofy. The entire journey was so friendly and warm and the tram drivers were just the best! Thank you for a truly memorable experience! A must do for anyone visiting the area and a great way to support the local community.

A lovely historic trip on a tram into the Karri Forrest stopping at the Cascades water feature. Our driver was very passionate about the tram and the local history. Told us all his stories and more. We booked in advance as it is pretty popular departing from the old station. It’s not a fast journey but allows you plenty of time to immerse yourself in the trees and the history. The Cascades after all the recent rain were a sight to behold.

A nice trip to the Cascade with couple of bridge crossings with natural environment. Loco pilot explains about the history of the Pemberton tramway and its surroundings. An epic journey to the water streams surrounded by nature. Really worth it!!

⭐⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Pemberton Tramway was such a lovely experience! The ride takes you through the stunning Karri forest with plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. The highlight was definitely stopping at the cascades, the sound of the running water and the peaceful atmosphere made it unforgettable. The commentary along the way was informative too, giving insight into the history of the area. A great activity for all ages!

Beautiful lake amongst a beautiful hard wood forrest with a well paved circuit walk along the lake.

Best swimming hole in Pemberton. Lovely outlook to a forest of trees. Water clear and refreshing. Nature at its finest. 🥰

A beautiful spot. Nice area to stop for a picnic, go for a walk or run around the lake on a sealed 4km track, or just splash about on the little sandy beach. Water is fresh but not too cold. Very nice.

Nice scenery here. You can have a walk around the lake and also go to have a close look at the dam and walk across it. There is a small beach area for you to have a swim. Looks safe for kids. There are also some picnic benches around the grassed area. There is a public toilet here. But beware that it does not seem to have shower facilities.

Stunning area, photos can’t show off how tall and grand the trees look. It’s a dirt track in but very well maintained and 2wd will have no issues. Area has plenty of paved parking along with a bonus of toilets and many picnic tables.

Boxing day. Doesn't get much better than this! Beautiful little beach. Super 4km walk. Kids loved it. Decent amount of parking at 2nd carpark.

Easy to find. Looked a bit scared but wasn't too bad in the end. Climbing is only available to the first platform, roughly mid-way up the tree but still that's fairly high up. Great experience.

The Dave Evans Bicentennial Tree offers an exciting climb with incredible views. At 75 metres, it’s a real challenge, but totally worth it. If climbing isn’t your thing, there are also short and long walking trails through beautiful Karri forest. A great spot for both adventure and relaxation!

This massive Karri tree is worth visiting just to see, but if you are fit and brave enough, you can climb the spikes spiraling up the perimeter of the giant. At present (mid 2025), the spikes end at an observation deck 20 meters above the ground. The plan is to extend the spikes to a higher structurally sound platform. Please be very careful, and please take care of the tree. Access to the site is easy, just a few minutes of easy walking from the car park.

Don't have a fear of heights! But so well worth the climb! The fairy wrens were put in full force, multiple little groups and very brave.

Be careful when going up the tree. There are no safety nets to catch you if you fall through! Only the first platform was open but we didn't make it up so high. Great experience tho!

If your scard of heights don't recommend you climb it. Otherwise take your time about 20 metres to the top.

This is worth a look see around. We climbed up a little however it was raining so we didn't chance it.

A gem in the heart of Bridgetown. This place will take you to Christmas in the middle of October. Thank you for creating such a wonderful place for everyone to enjoy!

This place is incredible. It has so many things to look at, you could honestly spend hours here! They have many unique gifts, there’s something for everyone. The gardens are lovely as well. We always make sure to visit when we get chance to come to Bridgetown. Definitely worth visiting!

It’s wonderful and magical. This little shop had everything you could ever need in terms of gifts, garden figurines, kitchen items, and then the Christmas items are incredible.

Incredible store with so many unique items. Amazing place to buy gifts & they even had a free gift wrapping service when we were there. Highly recommend checking this place out!

I have been visiting this shop, whenever I pass through Bridgetown, for over 10 years. You can always find something in this shop that will transport you back to your childhood. Such an extensive selection of sweets, chocolates and lollies from all over the world. Service is also outstanding from owners Rochelle & Damien. Can't wait to return to this hidden gem on our next visit to Bridgetown.

Luckily, even though it’s a public holiday, Ooh La Lollipop in Bridgetown is still open and they even open early! I bought some sweets for my road trip. They were very friendly, lovely outfit.

A wonderful experience from the moment you open the door. A kids paradise off lollies. Lovely friendly lady have us some local pointers as well.

Do make sure you stop by this pinkiest and happiest place when in Bridgetown! It's a place that will put a smile on your face and trust me, you will have a hard time choosing what and how many to buy 🤪 I also found a few candies that you can't find at Woolies or Coles. The lady owner is extremely helpful and friendly and even let me go behind her counter to take a picture from that angle. Love this place!

Such a beautiful, peaceful place! The autumn colours were glorious. Short paved path was suitable for wheelchair. Toilets with grab bar another asset. Will come back in spring.

This was our second visit here, but this time the season was just right for the amazing view and colours. A few different trails take you to different parts with different trees and colours.

Nice place for a stroll, have been in Autumn & it was spectacular with the leaves changing colour and falling. This time late October it's still pretty but there is a lot of sheep roaming in there & you have to keep your eyes on the ground because the droppings are all over the paths & difficult to avoid! Wear an old pair of shoes. They have long drop toilets & picnic areas.

Beautiful cheeses. Sheep and cows cheese are absolutely delicious! Also has other custom-made gifts and handmade coffee mugs.

Lovely staff with great customer service. Did a little cheese sampling and could really taste the uniqueness of the cheese. Very friendly toward our kids and even offered the brave one a sample (cheese was a bit too strong for the kids, but great for mum and dad). Great sampling of other local products. Almost missed it but saw their sign as we were driving through and decided to stop by. Glad we did!

Lovely place, lovely cheese! We were given 4 different cheeses to taste- soft to hard, and mostly cow. Absolutely tasty, and we ended up buying the Camembert home :) and polished the whole thing with crackers, wine, and pizza in 2-3 days! 🤭

Wonderful cheeses, and a good array of other local products from the area (chocolate, honey, dried fruit, kitchen items like handmade mugs and cool cheese knives made from old Nannup saw blades). Really nice atmosphere. There are a couple tables out front to sit at, and also a small play area for kids off to the side. They do cheese tastings. An essential visit for us any time we're in the area. Consider bringing a freezer bag and freezer blocks with you if you intend to buy cheese but aren't heading home for a few more hours, as is often the case if you're out and about checking out all the wonderful produce in the region!

Had no idea we’d be able to try the best cheese on the way somewhere. Wonderful to know about sheep cheese and how great it tastes when I didn’t even know people eat sheep milk. The blue cheese wasn’t too smelly but tasted amazing. Highly recommend.

This was a little gem hiding behind trees. First thing we saw was their Clydesdale, his name is Ollie. Then into their shop where they sell cheese made from sheep and goats that they milk on farm twice a day. They get cow milk from another farm close by. They also sell sheep and goat milk which is expensive compared to what you buy from the shop BUT it's fresh with cream on top. They also sell some other knick knacks. A lovely place and so glad we stopped 🙂

Mowen Rd, Nannup, Western Australia 6253, Australia. A beautiful little spot. The water was inviting and clean (however can be a little chill). Even has toilets. We were also told by some locals that they don’t know how deep it is ‘it’s bottomless’. They have even tried to measure it with string. Attached to Timberline walk trail.

Fantastic swimming spot for the family. The road in is accessible by any car but it’s super rough and bumpy. Could do with some improvements by the shire but other than that, the pool is awesome. Has good amount of parking but gets busy on warm days. Bush toilets available too.

A lovely place to cool down on a warm day. Easy drive for 2WD vehicles. Parking is limited, so be mindful of busy / holiday weekends. Well built pool deck and plenty of shaded structures. Barbeques and tables.

Wonderful location. The pool is stunning (although I'm not sure I would want to swim in it) and the wildlife amazing. The campsite is compact with good bush toilets. Just be mindful that none of the spots are level. Made it a little less comfortable.

Reached this place as the light was failing, but my goodness - what a beautiful and serene pool. Would I want to go for a swim here? Probably not as it was July and it was freezing enough as it was. Plus, I think there's a dead snake floating over there. Nonetheless, I can spend hours here even though I'd skip the dip.

Such a unique little place hidden amongst the trees in the middle of Fergusson Valley. Wander the trails and spot the weird and wonderful gnomes in their natural habitat. Bring one along marked with name and anniversary or special date to leave behind. Its fun to re visit and find your gnome again!

Holy Gnomey, there are a LOT of gnomes here. There's so many more gnomes than you think. It just keeps going. We brought our gnomes to add to the collection, chose a cute lil spot for em. This is such a cute idea, Get your kids to do a little gnome painting day and make the trip here with them, its so worth it.

Great place to visit for all ages, its beautiful location is surrounded by farms and forests so a lovely drive to get there. When you see Gnomesville you will feel like you have been transported into a fairy tale. So many gnomes all around, little paths leading off to more gnomes and you will spend a lot longer there than you imagined. Definitely worth a visit and take your own gnome to add the the collection

We visited on a public holiday recently and there were a few other people walking around, taking pictures etc. We noticed a quite a few broken gnomes unfortunately. I think it would look better if it was tidied up a little bit but over all, a nice place to stop for a break before heading home.

A beautiful forest with many garden gnomes to discover, especially for children. Large parking area, also suitable for caravans and motorhomes. Picnic area and restrooms available.

Such a charming spot. We visited with no expectations, and thought it's just a small village turnout was larger than we expected had a great time spotting funny looking gnomes.

Apr 2025 Came here for the apple fun park and the Donnybrook Apple Festival. Really tons to do and see and buy. Will mark this to revisit again! Also will want to come back to the playground again just for half a day or more without the crowd just for it.

First park I can think of that properly caters for kids of all ages and a lot to do and explore in a fenced in park. Kids loved it!

There is so much for all ages to enjoy here - plenty of smaller slides and swings for the little ones, but also some more challenging towers and climbing challenges for the older kids. Beautiful design as well. Picnic tables, BBQ, clean white sand in the play area, clean public toilets. Probably my favourite playground to take the family to in WA.

Such an awesome playground... not as 'all ages' friendly as Katanning's playground but would love to take children to this one. Beach sand everywhere, green grass and awesome equipment. Toilets well presented and cared for.

Absolute fun for kids but there are places nearby to take a walk.

Excellent playground, perfect for toddlers and young children from 1.5 to 6 years old.

Wow absolutely one of the best park for the kids of all ages. Limited cover and BBQ facility, plenty of parking however. Very well layout this playground. There are different size slides for the kids, mini trampoline. The equipment layout out over 100 metres of the playground. Great way to stop over before heading to and from one destination, best part the little ones really enjoyed it.

Freshest and widest selection under one roof and they have sampling of fish to give you a suggestion of type of fish to buy. The beef cuts are amazing and I have not seen such huge mushrooms before. Sets the adrenaline pumping for those who loves to cook. The nuts and cheese selection is worth trying, esp the local ones. Pies are good esp those reduced to clear. Still yummy and filling. There’s a take out counter by the side of the supermarket and their mushroom pies, beef and cheese pies are soooo good. Wish I can carry everything back to my country!

A good coffee break driving down from Perth. The fruit and veg are very fresh and nicely arranged. If you are cooking dinner, this is a good choice rather than going restaurants. Enjoy.

Always a great place to pick up food on your road trip to SW WA (or back to Perth). Super clean and OCD-level stock management! Fruits and veggies are always fresh. Their gravy and granola are our favourites

There’s really a lot of choices—from fresh vegetables, fruits, cheese, bread, and everything else. Everything looks so fresh and tempting that if I weren’t already full, I’d probably buy everything. Luckily, I was full, and if you convert the prices from AUD to MYR, it’s definitely not cheap. If you’re checking in with a group and have a kitchen to cook, it’s worth buying here to cook together. But for me, it’s not really worth it—I’d rather buy ready-made from a store. Overall, vegetables and fruits start from around AUD 3 (RM 9) per pack.

An excellent produce market with the freshest local produce direct from local farmers,eals ready to cook, angry items and baked goods all made in house. One of the best supermarkets we have seen.

Can't believe it took as over a year of living in Bunbury to try this place. It is INCREDIBLE! SO many options. Everything is super fresh! Love the design of walking through on pathway with each section rather than the typical grocery store experience of multiple aisles. Oh, and their Steak, Jalapeno and Cheese pies are literally the best pie I have ever had in my entire life!!! Their stuffed mushrooms are incredible too! My new favourite place to shop!

An awesome stop point on my way to Busselton from Perth. This is a huge place with many different fresh produce from the area. I never knew there were so many kinds of crops and meat that could be seen in just one place but here it is! Useful to stop by if you'll be buying food to cook in your lodging.

1.4km Possum Spotlighting Trail was nice by day walking thru the rare Tuart trees, walk starts just where Layman Rd turns off west of Tuart Drive. 2 picnic tables, interpretive signs, and signs to loos, but couldn't see where the loos were! Short boardwalk also out to Malbup Bird Hide (but it was almost dry late March & only 1 heron in sight, lots of midges, and signs re mozzies - for tons of waterbirds instead we drove a short distance south to James Richardson Park on Estuary View Drive). We did see Fairywrens, a Ringneck Parrot, Gerygone and Bronze wings on the Possum Trail by day. Empty on a Monday. Signs recommend also coming at night to walk the trail and spot night animals and birds. Picnic Area also across the main road.

Beautiful scenery, lillys over the entire area floor. 4wd needed if venturing in with car. Kangaroos all over, serene and grass areas to sit and relax and take it all in

Tuart trail is a little ways away, has nice flowers and shrubs but the trail is only 600m long. Cannot recommended to anyone wanting a proper trail walk. Bring mozi spray if your going.

A very special forest . Lots of animals and birds and trees and at this time of year fungi as well.

Beautiful National Park. Huge Tuart Trees. One of a kind in the world. A number of Tuart forests stretch along this part.of the coast line. To the West is Ludlow North Road, to the East is the Bussell Highway. Follow Ludlow Road to the old mill toen of Ludlow and the Tourist drive. T w rrific drive and scenery. Just watch our for Kangaroos.

Nice peaceful place to have a walk. Make sure you whack on some mozzie spray especially after it rains.

Given it's history...It's got a lovely calm essence about it now...I just wish lazy pigs would stop dumping their rubbish in there.....ruins it in so many ways.
