Had my bridal shower high tea here. The food was delicious. Their angel cakes are lighter than air! The location and view is gorgeous and they have every detail covered, right down to the embroidered linen napkins. Such an incredibly wonderful place. And the sparkling wine is really delicious too!

You have to feel sorry for the owner of this winery. We went there on the basis of how the website presented it. A vibrant winery that provided food, markets, wine tasting, animal farm, did weddings etc. We went there to taste wines and have a meal. Wine tasting was only on offer. The story told was 3 years of little rain and a dam drying up that waters the vines. Vines died off. A sad tale. However, the website displayed vibrant images of the past whereas their website should have been more honest. We travelled especially to enjoy it there. It was a very disappointing visit, but we truly they get back on their feet. P.S. Their wine was lovely so worth the tasting.
Razor B — Google review
The host was very accommodating on a very cold day.. The owner was very knowledgeable about the area.. I was unfortunately the driver that day, so no wine tasting for me.. I never knew why they grew roses at the end of each row, but know I do.. Thank you..
Sonia S — Google review
Despite what the website says, there is no cafe! But we went there today for wine tasting and it was a lovely experience. It's like being in someone's home trying all their different wines. The owner was very patient and explained things and didn't try and rush it. The gardens are quaint with lots of interesting things to look at. We bought 2 bottles of wine at very reasonable prices, $24-$26 per bottle. Wine tasting is free. I don't know if the owners read these reviews, as I agree with the other reviewers that the website is out of date and inaccurate. However, don't let it put you off visiting this lovely vineyard.

We had a fantastic day celebrating our girlfriends 50th Birthday with a delicious high tea and wines at Vintners Secret Winery. Beautiful surroundings and excellent service. Thank you.
Riki G — Google review
Was such a wonderful experience to elope here. The hospitality of the owners is above and beyond and their location is breathtaking. Richard and I thank you both so much for making our special day and promise we will be back to partake in some of the other activities you offer 🍾🍷
Emma B — Google review
A beautiful garden winery and cellar door with a variety of late harvest wines and ports. Plenty of space to enjoy a bottle and something to eat. The owners are lovely and very accommodating.
Timothy B — Google review
A lovely spot just out of town up on a rise so there are nice views over the surrounding farmland. Wine tasting was good and couldn't help but walk away with a few bottles.

Flying High Bird Park

Visiting Flying High Bird Park was a delightful experience for all ages. Although the park is a bit small, the variety of birds they have is impressive and makes it worth the visit. The wide selection of birds provides a unique and educational opportunity for bird enthusiasts of all kinds. The park's staff was friendly and informative, making the visit even more enjoyable. While it might be small now, I'm sure they will continue to improve and expand in the future. If you appreciate the beauty and diversity of birds, Flying High Bird Park is a must-see destination.
Zella B — Google review
It's a good, not so little, bird park! They have the bird food to feed the birds if you'd like, otherwise they are very friendly and fly over to you, depending what you have on you may be more interesting (my earrings were favourites). They also have the walk go through to some farm animals, which is neat! It is a bird park, so I think mice/rats in the bird cages are common, tidy in the front reception area. Friendly staff serving!
Erica — Google review
Was a really good experience. Ended up spending a couple of hours at the park. Can feed the animals. Birds will fly down to you, absolutely recommend getting mammal food can feed all sorts deer, miniature horse, camels. 10/10 Experience if your wanting to be up close with animals.
Clinton — Google review
We loved our visit to flying high bird park, there was so many different beautiful birds to see. Enjoyed taking our time in each area, feeding the birds and taking photos. As the park grows and has larger numbers of visitors, I imagine it would be beneficial to have roaming staff to keep a closer watch on visitors and the beautiful animals. However I can understand this would add to running costs. We were ready for our tasty toasties and coffee at the cafe, which is a great spot to stop and relax after all that walking! Looking forward to our next visit
Sarah F — Google review
We visited Flying High on a day trip to Childers and were very impressed. The staff are great while the park itself is a hidden delight, tucked away behind the industrial shed main entrance. Upon entry into the park, you embark on an interactive journey along the lush, leafy path that leads you from beginning to end. Along the way, you'll enter various sections that, naturally, house different types of birds, as well as llamas (alpacas?), farm animals, emus and more. Pay a couple of dollars per bag and you can take food along to give to the residents. Well worth the effort as it goes a long way and sends the animals racing in your direction. The staff were very humble when praised and mentioned that the park is a work in progress and has more to achieve. If that is the case, I look forward to visiting in months or years to come as, even now, the experience was 100% positive. I truly wish them all the best for the future.
Serge V — Google review
Reading the reviews wasn't good but we still went. It's well worth it the stop. Birds really friendly and are looking for a feed. Just buy lots of feed for the animals before going in. Really large range of souvenirs that's on par for pricing around Australia.
Darryl P — Google review
A very reasonably priced attraction with lots to see. The young lady at reception was simply a genuinely happy person who clearly loves her job. The souvenir and gift shop was reasonably priced as was the cafe. We really enjoyed this place and the bird life and animals were beautiful.
David K — Google review
My sister and her family and I and my hubby had a great time visiting together. I especially enjoyed the dinosaur bird snapping the food from my hand. All the birds are just beautiful to see. The seers and buck is a great addition to see also. They were too interested in us unless we had food lol. And the upgrade from we the years is amazing in comparison. My niece And nephew thought the pin f was the best but and wanted to take him home. Tantrum slightly avoided as I said I’d buy them a milkshake if they shut up. Great day out

A nice spot if you want to go for a walk. Paved footpath, and right on the oceanfront. Pets are welcome, but must remain on leash (wildlife present). Magpies do swoop during their hatching season.

There is a delightful waterfront walk above the rocks with a view over the ocean. Wander down tracks over the rocks on the right tide and you will be rewarded with magical rock pools and thousands of oysters.Bring an oyster knife.

Worth a visit if you're around the area, we've fished here around the dusk and caught few, oysters are fresh but small in size. Check the tide before going as waves are splashing these rocks hardly and can wash a person away easily.

Amazing distillery tour and tasting done by Rick! I would really recommend doing this tasting/tour. Honestly it was better than the Bundaberg rum tour. The space is beautiful with a garden and Lunar bar (with a golf simulator!!) Overall, great experience with great gin, rum and vodka. Very reasonable prices!
Chiara M — Google review
Such a great venue for a relaxed afternoon, that new function room looks amazing too! A lovely family owned local business, products are truly superb. Interesting tour to find out about the distilling process too. Thoroughly enjoyed the tasting samples at the end and highly recommend the liqueur tasting paddle.
Lisa M — Google review
Today we enjoyed a complimentary tour and tasting at Kalki Moon Distillery in Bundaberg. Rick, who is the co-founder of the business did the tour and it was outstanding. Although he’s probably said the same thing thousands of times, it was like he was giving the tour for the first time. His passion for his craft was obvious and no question was too stupid. Following the tour, Rick’s son and wife, who are also involved in the business, organised our tastings with no pressure to buy. We were happy to buy some bottles of gin and rum on the way out to support this local, family run business. Well worth a visit.
Rita M — Google review
Excellent distillery tour this will take approximately an hour, up close and absolute though description of all facets of rum, vodka and gin making with tastings at the end.
Bat M — Google review
What a gem of a distillery! We visited Kalki Moon Distilling Company for a complimentary booked tour and were not sure what to expect. We were super impressed by the professionalism of Mia (our tour guide) and her exceptional knowledge of the distillery’s history and processes for making gin, vodka and rum. Mia was calm, assured, informative and welcoming and the very positive experience will be easy to recommend to others. The final part of the tour showcased the golf simulation space with associated bar that can be booked for functions and parties as well as a sampling of two spirits of your choice from the extensive range produced by Kalki Moon. This exceptional experience should be a must hoist on anyone’s visit to Bundaberg. Thanks.
Philip R — Google review
We had friends visiting us at Burnett Heads. Took them for the tour at Kalki Moon which we did ourselves many years ago. Such an informative interesting hour. A great story of a young couple who had a go and is going from strength to strength. Such a great product, venue and story!
Vicki W — Google review
A fantastic experience at this family owned distillery! The tour was engaging and informative, done by the friendly Mia who was very bright and bubbly, offering a genuine behind the scenes look at the distillery. The highlight was the outstanding customer service from all staff. Very warm, knowledgeable, and truly passionate. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and welcoming tasting experience! <3

Excellent experience learning alot about the industry which we didnt know. Well worth the trip and the chance to taste 2 different kinds of Gin,Vodka or Rum and all for free. We were lucky enough to have the tour one on one with one of the owners.

Discover the world-famous Bundaberg Rum Distillery, where educational guided tours and tastings offer a deep dive into the production process of Australian rum. While in Bundaberg, visitors can also explore the Mon Repos turtle rookery, enjoy diving or snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, and go whale watching. The area's beautiful beaches provide a perfect setting to relax after exploring all that Bundaberg has to offer.
Very interesting and well worth the visit, children are also welcome on the hour tour. The lady was very knowledgeable with information about the distillery Disappointed with the food as there was only a sausage in a roll with onions $6.95 & feta cheese & spinach puffs but you had to go looking for the filling as it was dry and all pastry.
Raelene P — Google review
Loved hearing how world wide, award winning Bundaberg Rum is made from womb to tomb. How molasses is extracted from sugar cane and the product not used is turned back to the cane farmers to use as fertilizer for future crops. Very impressive operation which spans a great size and run by only 38 full time employees.
Kathy R — Google review
When you say Bundaberg you automatically think Bundaberg Rum and rightly so. This tour starts with a self guided tour of the Museum showing the history of Bundaberg rum which is very informative and jovial at the same time, and yes the polar bear is there. What follows next is a tour of where they make the rum. Our guides for the day were G and Taylor and they were fantastic, very knowledgeable and also full of “dad” jokes. Note you are not allowed to take cameras, phones, anything electrical whilst on the tour, this is for safety reasons. At the end of the tour you get to have two drinks of any of their range. Don’t worry if you are not normally a rum drinker as they will help you choose an alternative to your normal tipple. It is advised to book ahead as they can sell out. But I really think it is a must do when visiting Bundaberg.
Casandra T — Google review
Not being Rum drinkers we thought we’d take a tour and see if we could be swayed. The museum was really informative and an interesting part of Qld history. Our tour guide Jayden was a superstar! Funny (with all the Dad jokes) but full of information, fun and very upbeat. Great tour, great guide, great value with a couple of taste testers at the end. Were we converted?
Thomoszontour — Google review
It was an amazing experience, the staff were amazing, shoutout to our tour guide Deb for making it an unforgettable experience, I’d give them a 100 star rating if I could, I will definitely be going back to do it again and will be definitely going back and doing the blend your own rum experience
Ely A — Google review
Amazing drink prices! Very very fair tour cost of $30 and you get 2 drinks at the end. So only really looking at like $5 for the entire tour. The most expensive spirit there only sets you back $12 and a mango cocktail sushi was $15. If you like Bundy it is a must to go.
Jacob A — Google review
Great place to go & learn about the history aswell as taste test all the softdrinks. Kids really enjoyed it too.
Kell D — Google review
My friend and I joined the tour on a Friday and were pleasantly surprised by how fun it was. Amber and Sandy were both so cool and funny and they skillfully weaved in education with humour to keep our group laughing. Although we're both non-rum drinkers, we really enjoyed our tasting experience afterwards and spent even more time checking out the merchandise - they really have souvenirs for every type of person!

Nestled within a public park in Bundaberg West, Queensland, Australia, Alexandra Park Zoo is a charming and compact menagerie that has been captivating visitors since 1911. Despite its size, the zoo boasts an array of animal species including dingos, emus, snakes, birds, monkeys, and lizards. It offers an educational and entertaining experience for all ages.
What a wonderful surprise! This small zoo completely exceeded my expectations. While it may not be as large as city zoos, it more than makes up for it with charm, care, and a personal touch that bigger zoos often lack. The enclosures are clean, thoughtfully designed, and give visitors a great view of the animals without ever feeling invasive. I loved seeing unique species like the black cockatoos and emus — it’s clear the animals are well cared for and the staff are passionate about their wellbeing. One of the best parts? It’s completely free to enter! Perfect for families or anyone looking for a budget-friendly activity that’s both fun and educational. The surrounding park is beautiful too, with a shaded playground, picnic spots, and views of the river — great for making a full day out of your visit. Friendly staff, happy animals, and a relaxed atmosphere make this little zoo a must-visit if you’re in the area. A true local treasure!

The Alexandra Park Zoo are a fantastic choice for a family day out. The gardens themselves offer a peaceful and safe environment for children to explore diverse plant life, spot colorful birds, and enjoy the open spaces perfect for running around. But that's not all! There's also a dedicated playground within the gardens, providing additional fun and entertainment for the kids. This makes it a truly comprehensive and enjoyable experience for families with children of all ages 😊

A small zoo but free entry. I used to visit here when I was a boy (a long time ago), and my visit brought back very pleasant memories. The enclosures are well done, and the animals look happy & healthy. The keepers are very friendly and knowledgeable. Worth the visit.

Small zoo. Free and really fun for kids. They even have colouring pages and a booklet for children to interact with. Situated right next to a park. Great for a picnic. Near the river

Mon Repos Turtle Centre

Education center
Nature & Parks
Mon Repos Turtle Centre is an impressive facility that offers interactive displays and seasonal tours showcasing the nesting and hatching of loggerhead turtles. The education room provides visitors with interesting insights and informative knowledge about these fascinating creatures. The friendly staff are always happy to share their expertise with guests. The tour itself allows for a close-up view of hundreds of baby turtles emerging from their nests, making their way towards the water while volunteers guide them along the path.
Incredible experience thanks to the turtles, Rangers and friendly volunteers. We were lucky to see a loggerhead turtle lay eggs, after abandoning its first nesting attempt and then another turtle restarting. We were able to watch the little turtle from the sand running through to the water. Our group (2) left the building to see the turtle at 8:00pm and returned at about 10:00pm - a long night for us but well worth it. Suggestion: read through all of the Mon Repos information on the Queensland Parks & Wildlife service website, as the actual booking site only provides limited information。

An amazing experience. Our kids (4 and 9) both absolutely loved it. The ‘ranger’ costumes were great, the interactive self-guided tour had lots and occupied us for nearly an hour. All staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. To top it off, the cafe served up a delicious fish and chips with one of the best coffees we’ve had. Highly recommend anyone in area pay the Mon Repos Turtle Centre a visit for a unique and enjoyable experience.
Sambo1327 — Google review
It was an amazing interaction with nature. The National Park Rangera and volunteers are amazing. It is nature so you have to take what you get but we were so lucky. Just remember you can only take your phone and camera out at one time when allowed because light affects the baby turtles (and under law they limit the number to be photograph)
Shawn B — Google review
My husband & I stopped here for coffee. The lady commented on my shirt & said she had a bracelet to match. I mentioned my children had just given me a beautiful bracelet for my 70 th bday & this gorgeous lady gave me the bracelet as a gift!! Couldn’t believe it. What lovely people. The coffee & cake was also delicious & a beautiful little spot. Thank you xx

Turtle nesting seasons start in Nov but I went too early so I have no luck to witness the moment. The staff is very kind to explain and tell me a lot of stuff about turtles and I learnt a lot from her that day. They sure are very helpful and informative. You will need to buy a ticket if you want to visit the museum. Else you can walk around or to the beach. But no visitors are allowed in the night during hatching seasons as the torch light will scare the turtle away. And you are required to book the tour if you want to watch the turtle laying the eggs.
Neo — Google review
A great centre of information, well laid out, good displays and a nice little cafe. One thing...the videos could be louder, they are difficult to hear because of the noise from the cafe.
George7654 S — Google review
Beautiful centre with equally beautiful surroundings. The turtle centre joins onto the beautiful beach which is a great addition to visit after visiting the centre. It is great to be involved in the conservation of these magnificent turtles in this area of ecotourism.
Howard F — Google review
Definitely need to visit during nesting season (Nov to late March), otherwise it's a small walk area to the beach in addition to some information boards and small museum area. There's a cafe onsite too, and the boardwalk to the beaches was lovely. Understandably no dogs allowed at all within the area.

Bundaberg Botanic Gardens

Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
Bundaberg Botanic Gardens, established in 1988 on a 27-hectare land, is a picturesque subtropical botanical garden featuring a serene lake, charming chapel, and scenic boardwalks. The gardens are adorned with over 10,000 shrubs and trees, offering visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature. Additionally, the site houses the renowned Bert Hinkler Hall of Aviation and Bert Hinkler's former residence known as Mon Repos.
A lovely little area to walk either solo, group, or with family/kids. A relatively easy walk. Also boasts a train you can catch around the parkland and I believe it is ticketed. The aviation museum is also within the same grounds, and there is a great playground area and seating available near the entrance of the gardens.

What a lovely little piece of paradise located away from the hustle and bustle. Probably the only downside are the bin chickens and the bird crap that goes with it. But it is a very nice garden, well maintained. It has a cafe I believe but we never ventured there. And a little steam train that shows you around the gardens.
Shane H — Google review
Looking for something to do when visiting Bundaberg, this is definitely the place to come to. It is free to enter and there is plenty of parking. There are three museums on site, Hinkler Hall of Aviation which also includes Hinkler House, Fairymead House Sugar History Museum and the Bundaberg & District Historical Museum. The best deal is to buy a museum pass so you get to see all three at a reduced price. There is a great cafe on site for when you are hungry called Cafe 1928. A miniature sugar train that takes you around the park. There is also the Chinese Gardens and the Japanese Gardens which are both beautiful. The park is full of wildlife and birds so do take in the beauty. There is so much to do, you can easily spend the whole day here and is very easy to walk around.
Casandra T — Google review
Loved the gardens. On a Sunday, Took train trip around the grounds.. $7 per adult. $3 per child. little man loved it. Great volunteers, very friendly and helpful. So many animals to see and feed the ducks. Loved the eels, water dragons, ducks, pelicans, turtles. Well layed out grounds. Plenty of parking, nice big playground in a fenced area. Clean toilets. Easy caravan parking on young street. Nice busy Cafe, quick service, reasonable prices and nice variety on the menu. So many grassed areas with shade for a picnic Love to visit again when next through Bundaberg

The Hinkler Hall of Aviation is an educational center that showcases exhibits on local aviation pioneer Bert Hinkler in a modern setting. While the hall may be small compared to other aviation museums, it offers a valuable opportunity to learn about Bert Hinkler's significant contributions to aviation history. Visitors can immerse themselves in interactive activities and view various aircraft displays, with some even accessible for entry.
Very cool place to explore, super interesting even if you’re not that in to aviation. Lots of interactive exhibits and heaps of local knowledge too. These junior aviators club is a super fun thing for kids. The gift shop has a cute range of products at reasonable prices. The 3 activity pass is really good value.

A great experience which gives insight into one of Australia's international heroes. It looks small, but you can easily spend several hours there. I also recommend viewing Mon Repos house, for a personal look into Bert Hinkler's life.
Jared C — Google review
Well laid out and well thought out staff were excellent and came and fetched us about a min before the film started giving us time to settle. Each item on display had at least a short note. What particularly struck me was the piece of the glider that went on the Shuttle “Challenger”. And was returned to go on exhibition. Pioneers of flight.

Situated in the Bundaberg Botanical Gardens, this is a really interesting museum about Bert Hinkler. Bert was an aviation icon who died far too young. Start within the globe as there is a short video about Bert and his life, there are a number of interactive displays so channel your inner child and try them. Entrance also includes Bert’s UK house which they shipped to Australia so do check that out as well as it is a time capsule. I would also buy the three Museum pass and check out the other two places in the gardens as it makes it really cost-effective. Definitely worth doing if visiting Bundaberg.

Spent a good hour or more here and at Hinkler House learning the story of Bert Hinkler. Truly fascinating and enjoyable.

Interesting displays. The film was great to watch. We very much enjoying through the old house. The staff were very friendly & helpful.

Awesome adventure! This goes beyond a museum and showcases the exciting, high adrenaline life of Bert Hinkler in such a fun, hands on & interactive way. We loved every bit of it. Highly recommend a visit. The entire area is wonderful. It is a shame all of it isn't open on Saturdays as we still haven't be able to see The Bundaberg History Museum. The botanical gardens are sensational & it's a lovely drive through, or walk through or train ride around the park. Gorgeous part of history and a great spot to visit while in Bundy.

🏕️ Good camping spot. A bit noisy because of the busy road. 🚽 Public toilets available, okay clean. 🍴 Picnic tables & bins 🥾 Short walking trail into the woods leading to a view on the water.

The rest stop was really clean, nice toilets and great BBQ area. Lots of trees and benches to sit under. Can’t complain about the facilities for $0 charge 24 hour stopover. There is a fantastic nature walk to the gorge and full river. The only downside was the road noise but have a few drinks and you hear nothing.
Graeme F — Google review
Nice place. Google Maps takes you into a new subdivision, so make sure you turn at the sign on the road. 900m walk. A few short hills and some steps. Not suitable for prams or anything with wheels. Ground is uneven. It's a bush walk with an obstructed view of the river at the end. The bush was nice though. Decent picnic area at the start. I didn't use the toilets, but they looked okay.
Kristy A — Google review
Great free camp for self contained RVs a walk to the gorge toilets very nice place

Great place to stop for a break. Easy short walk through the gorge, easy walk, good leg stretcher. Close to the road, wouldn't recommend an overnight stay, very noisy, road noise and idiots tooting horns going past. Do yourself a favour and head to the Historic Bucca Hotel.

We have walked this area previously and enjoyed it. It was disappointing that dogs on lead are not allowed to do this walk now. Unfortunately this seems to be a common theme in a number of our local walks.

The staff here were so helpful even mentioning where to eat and fill the tank a private walk though the hone and other buildings didn't get tine to go though everything as I was on a time schedule. The lady said that they are now bringing the elderly from nursing homes there to help them remember Going into nursing homes must be scary with not having your own belongings that you know so well at home. But this is a wonderful idea and people to share things of olden times before technology came Worth a visit. Thank you for your time in showing me around and taking photos for me.

So much for being an RV friendly town. All of the caravan parking was taken up by cars so no access for us to park up & buy lunch. We’re trying to do our bit and boost local economies as we travel but Gin Gin missed out. Lunch was made in our caravan with items we had in our fridge!

The Fred Haigh Dam is a picturesque location with abundant wildlife and a tranquil environment. The surrounding area offers ample opportunities for exploration, with dense vegetation to discover and the option of enjoying a complimentary shower. The stunning panoramic view showcases a significant elevation drop near the dam, which can be accessed through the road. Visitors can also learn about the area's history through educational maps at the lookout point.
The Fred Haigh Dam is an impressive structure, overlooking the serene waters of Lake Monduran. You can drive, walk or ride across the dam to the other side where you will find access to a network of bush trails that are great for hiking.
Mark M — Google review
As a boatie and there for fishing, it was a large dam with plenty of bays for searching for Barramundi & Bass. Two boat ramps with one in a far better condition than the other. Caravan park close by was very good.
Barbara E — Google review
An amazing place to watch sunsets as its high up and has a nice view. Its a popular place for boating and fishing. The camping spot near by hold fishing competitions. You can swim here although the entrance is a bit muddy. Its a nice place to relax and enjoy the view. There's quite a bit of wildlife around too including kangaroos and birds. We also saw a small python near by.
Lauren T — Google review
This place is quite lovely, lots of wildlife around, peaceful area with much bush to go exploring, or just drop in and have a free shower! The view is awesome, big drop where the dam is from the road that runs across the flowing point, historical maps at the lookout, place has it all!

Bulburin National Park

National park
Nature & Parks
Nature & Wildlife Areas
QPS website currently shows the Granite Creek Rd and Dawes Range Rd as not closed, so tried it out. Easy drive to Granite Ck and moderately easy slow drive in low up Dawes Range Rd with some fun bog holes towards the top. Still plenty of overgrown sections so if you're precious about paint scratches that may not buff out, best to avoid. Super grateful to a previous reviewer who recommended bringing chainsaw - 3 trees across the track. Took about 3 hours up and 2 back in Prado 120 with lift and old worn ATs with 90k. Lovely secluded Old Forestry camp area.
Az T — Google review
LOCAL ADVICE! READ BEFORE YOU GO! I’ve seen so many complaining and frustrated with Bulburin so this is a warning for those who haven’t been there yet. The Bulburin of heyday is long gone; the park has been intentionally neglected for years and most of the roads are now closed or impassable - don’t believe the roads you see in Google Maps, the only ones open are the Dawes Range Rd, 4wd Loop (aka Scenic Route) and access roads from Builyan and Bruce Hwy. The road that used to follow along Granite Creek is now locked with a gate. Only dirt bikes and MTBs (if you’re really keen) may sneak in, but you’ll be forced to go up the range until it meets the 4wd loop (a 420m hillclimb). The turnoff to the creek and its cascades and pools is now unrecognisable and permanently covered by the forest. Forget the photos and videos you saw on YouTube - that’s gone forever. Note: Granite Creek only runs after several weeks of consistent rain. It’s bone dry most of the year. Several other roads (once used by the log trucks) are closed and the forest has taken them over. Dawes Range Rd is doable on a car with good ground clearance when it’s dry (AWD will suffice if it’s not wet). BUT BRING A CHAINSAW WITH YOU as trees frequently fall and block the road for months - National Parks do not look after the roads - as this has happened 3 times with me and ruined my plans. No warnings are put in the NP website for these. The 4wd Loop is tougher and be prepared to scratch the hell out of your car - overgrown vegetation all the way. It’s fine and chill in dry conditions except the section between Zamia and Range View campgrounds - this section is basically a steep down and uphill track that’s heavily eroded by rain and never maintained. Gets worse every year. A good 4wd is required - a stock Prado won’t make it. Again, you may find a fallen tree blocking your way. Be very careful as the park is well known for its large population of red bellied black snakes, eastern browns and coastal taipans. You’ll definitely see them there. They love hanging around the tall grass around the camping sites. I still like Bulburin for how quiet it is - definitely off the beaten path. It’s cooler up there in the forest and you can see a lot of beautiful birds. Sadly, swimming and bushwalking are no longer options since all the old trails are now closed and blocked by the forest. You can still enjoy driving your 4wd or riding your dirt bike over there.
A. L — Google review
Beautiful forest off the beaten track. Only sound bird song. Camping area grassed and clear.

Tracks are currently very overgrown with lantana. Can't go past Zamia Campground or Forestry Campground at the moment.

It’s a beautiful place but it is in a desperate need of TLC. Definitely need a 4Wheel drive or a dirt bike to drive through the rough roads and ditch fallen trees. Some paths are steep with sudden drops. Not recommend for vehicle with towed caravan.

The Bush Heritage Paperbark Forest Boardwalk is a hidden gem located in the Reedy Creek Reserve, just a short distance from the town's Visitor Information Centre. This picturesque boardwalk takes visitors through a dense paperbark forest, offering Instagram-worthy photo opportunities and a chance to reconnect with nature. The trail is suitable for families with young children and features concrete stepping stones across damp areas.
Lovely board walk with stepping stone type feature. Picnic area at the start of the walk which the trail loops back too. The walk makes for lovely photos. Not a trail walk for wheelchair bound No toilet facilities available however the trail is not far from the town. Worth dropping in for a look. Please like the review if you've read it, it helps business's grow.

A great eco developed walk through this magnificent melaluca and palm forest. All up on boardwalk or stepping stones as to not disturb any further the fragile system which is wetland undisturbed dominated by 10 meters plus grand old paper barks. Thoroughly enjoyed this small 45 minute walk
Scott L — Google review
400m of a flat walk along boardwalks, sandy trails, and fun round cement steps. The paperbark trees are mature and confident in their place. Lots of ferns cover the forest floor and hug the base of trees. The light shifts constantly here with the wind allowing rays of sun to cast through to the lower forest below, an ever changing natural lightshow. Highly enjoyable easy walk.
Jennifer H — Google review
So enjoyed this little gem! Was a great little family experience. It has a variety of walking ground to not disturb natural growth. Like partial two slate wide board walks and stepping stones through at times water. So it would be wise to be with young ones that are confident walkers the same with elderly. My only negative is, I wish it was longer, I was enjoying it so much! The town itself has many things to offer like cafes and other many natural beauties. A must visit!

Good short little walk, very nice Paperbark and Maidenhair fern forest. The stepping stones and boardwalk are great to keep your feet dry and to lessen the impact to the delicate environment. Well worth a visit.

Nestled in the small town of 1770 and Agnes Water, the 1770 Distillery offers a unique experience with its special Discovery Coast flavors such as Pink Dawn, Sunset, and Strawberry Splash. The owner, John, is passionate about his liqueurs and takes pride in producing high-quality products. Visitors have enjoyed engaging with him during tastings and appreciated his knowledge about the different liquors.
Amazing distillery, super friendly, weve visited a few distilleries and this one is definitely up there. Super knowledgeable, had awesome serving suggestions. Thank you for the great conversation. xx

Great stop off to try some locally made liqueurs. Free small tastings of the four liqueurs they sell, which are all different flavours. Having the tastings equates to around 1.2 standard drinks so ok to drive afterwards. A very lovely lady served us and had a nice chat about the process and what goes into the liqueurs. Bought a bottle of Strawberry Splash and am currently drinking it mixed in a glass of prosecco. Was told it would also go well on ice cream, which I will most definitely have to try.

Wow! Such unique liquers! The lady (didn't get her name) was so lovely and friendly, she explained everything about the drinks really well... She is instantly likeable and is great at what she does. We loved the tastings and now differently the drinks tasted after adding mineral water, so fascinating! Buddy the dog came out for a pat too. We bought two bottles and will possibly buy more online again later. The flavour combinations of the drinks are genius and so unique. Definitely worth visiting.

Really enjoyed visiting the distillery. Tiny place with a plant nursery attached. The guy who runs it is passionate about what he does. Explained each drink as we tasted them and was happy to chat with us about the process he goes through to make them. Lovely drinks. We bought a couple of bottles - wish we bought more as they are easy drinking with a mixer, already gone!

Kevin booked my Whitsunday’s tour with Ocean Rafting and he was fabulous! Super friendly and made time to explain the different tours and what they offer before recommending a one to fit my budget/plans. So knowledgeable about all of the different activities each tour can offer because he’d done most of the tours himself and so was based on his own experiences. We are a little late (been there 6 month ago), but during our holiday trip in Australia we are still so unbelievable grateful for realizing our trip to the Great Barrier Reef. Our planned trip, run by a different company, was cancelled because of stormy weather. But the operator from Discover 1770 & Agnes Water saved our trip and did what seemed nearly impossible by finding an alternative organisation to make a dream come true. She made incredible effort by searching on the internet, making calls and checking the weather forecast. Thank you guys so much!

My daughter & I had the best day! The weather was so perfect. I didn't know what to expect but the Larc was better than I imagined. I was quite nervous going up the pathway to the lighthouse, the Skipper was very competent in driving us up safely. The history of the Lighthouse was very informative I really liked the house and all the interesting information & how well it is maintained. Morning tea and lunch was very yummy the ANZAC biscuits & Billy tea were really great!. I was happy that I attemped sandboarding only did the small hill it was such fun. I would have really liked to have gone for a swim but the tide was out. The commentary of the birds, trees & creeks by the host was quite informative & somewhat humorous I will definitely recommend the Larc to my family & friends. Thank you for the memories I will share with my daughter

Horizons Kangaroo Sanctuary & Camp Ground is a must-visit for animal lovers and families looking for a fun experience. The owner's dedication to wildlife conservation is evident, and visitors can volunteer for at least 2 nights. The facilities are well-maintained, with clean amenities and cooking utensils provided. The small campground offers a peaceful atmosphere, and guests can enjoy feeding the kangaroos in the morning.
Get up close and personal with kangaroos! We booked in at Horizon’s last minute and are so glad we did. We called the number on Google, and they said come by whenever and ring once at the gate. Garry greeted us and showed us a couple of options to park our car. The amenities were awesome: clean toilets and hot showers. We didn’t use the kitchen much, but it looked good. At a quarter past 7 in the morning Garry feeds the roos. For about an hour, he prepares food for the animals and shares stories and educates you about the local wildlife. The kangaroos are friendly and you can pet a few if you'd like. We even saw a couple peacocks and wallabies on the property. One of the better sites we’ve had on our road trip!
Liam S — Google review
Outstanding!! The place is super lovely, clean bathrooms and nice hot showers. The kitchen is amazing and the outdoor area is really cozy, decorated with nice works of art and a hammock. Garry told us a lot about the history of Australia and the Kangaroos. He really loves the animals a lot and takes care of them. We were able to feed the kangaroos and even pet them. It was a great experience and I can only recommend it. :)
Claudia T — Google review
We didn‘t stay at the campground but came for the feeding. The owner is lovely and can tell you a lot about the kangaroos🦘 with 10$ pp you support him to keep the feeding going on. The kangaroos roam around completely free here and the campground also seemed very lovely with an amazing garden! We got to see the kangaroos in the garden before the feeding. Highly recommend coming here❤️

Outstanding!! Such a lovely and peaceful place. Super clean bathrooms and hot showers. The kitchen is well-equipped and the outdoor area is cozy, with beautiful art. Garry is amazing – so passionate about the kangaroos and full of knowledge about Australia’s history. We got to feed and pet the kangaroos, which was a truly special experience. Highly recommend this unique and heartwarming stay!
Anjana I — Google review
Amazing experience. Garry and his wife devote their lives to the care of orphaned and injured kangaroos which is incredibly inspiring. As they grow up/get better, the kangaroos come and go as they please knowing they always have a home at the sanctuary. Because of this interaction, they are not afraid of humans although of course they remain wild animals and are in no way trained for human entertainment, harmed or imprisoned for such purposes. All camp ground fees go to the care of the kangaroos and extra donations are very appreciated. Garry is very knowledgeable about kangaroos and although he has a harsh view on humanity, he's correct on many points. The facilities are excellent and all kitchenware is provided. It's also situated remotely so beautiful views onto both the mountains and the ocean + you can see the stars very well. We highly recommend paying them a visit, best to call before to book a spot!
Rayane C — Google review
What a lovely person and roos! I’m a backpacker who just started road trip from bundaberg to cairns. I found this place from campermate app and decided to sleep over here. I have never seen kangaroos this much close! They were so adorable and nice… Since I came to Australia I have been realizing that I was born on Earth and it’s blessing. Garry who is caring this wonderful place is so lovely person. Definitely he has the wisdom. I know someone can complain about his point but the pessimistic people always do great job for this planet. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet him and roos! Gardening is also awesome!! You can see wild peacocks in the morning 🤞
Suhanmu K — Google review
Such a lovely place, highly recommend for a visit Me and my mom found Garrys place asking on chat gpt where we could see some kangaroo in Agnes water and we couldn’t be more happy with our experience. The place is huge, full of kangaroos and peacocks and the sunset was so beautiful
Andrea D — Google review
The place looks great and you get really close to the kangaroos. However, the owner loves to spread his doomsday scenarios while feeding the kangaroos and some "facts" he's telling are straight up bs or misleading. He doesn't really answer questions about the topics but rather keeps ringing the same bells. I respect the work he puts in for the roos though. If you wanna spend $40 for a night and see some kangaroos, do it.

The cruise provides a smooth ride on a pink amphibious vehicle and allows guests to bring soft drinks on board. The tour includes a stopover at Eurimbula National Park for shell searching and bird watching. Additionally, the full-day Paradise tour is highly recommended, featuring an engaging guide who shares captivating stories about the area's history.
Second time I’ve done the paradise full day tour and it was as fabulous the second time round. Kev and Niel were very informative and fabulous sense of humour . Very considerate towards my assistance dog Zac as well . Highly recommend this well organised day trip

Great day out on the bay with our host, Mark. Laid back, laconic local. Very knowledgeable about the area. We did the 2 hour lunch tour. A wrap, fruit, biscuit and cold drinks included. Highly recommended.

Fabulous, amazing tour. Great value for money the guide Whitey and the Skipper Jono were so informative. The tour had it all from history of Bustard Lighthouse to wild life, seeing dolphins in the ocean so we joined them in the surf. 10/10 high recommend.

What a fabulous day out. It was amazing from beginning to end with Kev as our tour guide and Jono the skipper. Fantastic lunch and tobogganing down the sand dunes was so much fun. We loved the tour of the lighthouse and surrounds. If you’re at 1770 don’t miss out on this awesome day.

✅️ What a hoot! A Paradise Tour with larc-aholics, a lighthouse with a keeper and a happy memory I will store internally forever. I went along for a ride and was taken on a flight. Good stuff highly recommend. Image shown: with Stuart Buchanan- Author of the book "Taxi" and other titles.

I expected it to be ok, but it was really good! Allow extra time, as the driver/captain? spots something interesting, he just charges into the ocean to check it out. Very good and entertaining commentary. The lunch was fruit with choice of chicken/ham or veg wrap A great couple of hours, would definitely recommend the tour 👍

1770 Reef - Great Barrier Reef Eco Tours offers an incredible day trip to the Great Barrier Reef. The crew is highly recommended for their expertise in providing a fantastic experience, with activities like snorkeling and scuba diving allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the reef. The friendly and knowledgeable staff ensure a memorable and enjoyable time, while the opportunity to see numerous turtles adds to the excitement.
Really enjoyed the trip out to Lady Musgrave Island and reef tour. The staff were extremely friendly and caring. The tour of the Island was fantastic and very unique in its development as a coral island. The vegetation was beautiful. The food was provided all day in plentiful amounts. Appreciated the cup a soup for warmth and the scones were definitely a winner. Reef and sea creatures were in abundance and thoroughly enjoyed the snorkel. The icing on the cake was to view a whale close up on the return. Would recommend this tour.

It was certainly worth getting up early for this trip to Lady Musgrave Island. The crew were very professional and competent. We had lunch morning tea and afternoon tea – all was Complimentary and delicious. There was also the opportunity to purchase other drinks and snacks. It was interesting to walk around the island and learn a bit about the history of the southern barrier reef. Then to be guided through the lagoon to see the most impressive turtles. On our way back, the captain made a slight detour as he had been looking out for whales - We had a wonderful display from a mother and calf. I would highly recommend this trip.

The stars are for this magnificent island and lagoon. We were a little disappointed by the coral: most of it is brown, which doesn't mean it's dead, but rather due to algae. It doesn't look like coral with all the imaginable colors you can see elsewhere on the Great Barrier Reef so if you want to see coral go to the north. The worst part is that I've never paid for a wetsuit on a tour. Yes, it's written in the email, but to me, it's a joke. The price here is the same as for all the tours in GBR, with an extra charge for snorkeling. The wetsuit costs $10 per person, which isn't much, but it's a bit surprising it’s alaways included in the price…

Our family of four (kids are 12 and 7 year old boys) had an amazing time. The ride out was rough, and we were glad we took our motion sickness medication. However, it was worth it to be able to explore the island and snorkel the reef. The boat itself is comfortable and accommodating. The staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful. We saw tons of beautiful fish, many sea turtles, an octopus, and stingrays, and we were even treated to some whale watching on the smooth ride back!

Had a lovely day trip to Lady Musgrove island today. Safety procedures were well explained and demonstrated. The skipper a glimpse of a breaching whale. He diverted our course so that we could see mother and calf playing. We must have sat by them for 10 minutes. What great diversion!

Had a terrific day out. The journey out to Lady Musgrave was a little rough for some passengers but the crew took it in their stride and made sure everyone was OK, giving out cups of ice and tending to those who needed a bit more help. Our guide on the island was very knowledgeable and after a walk around we headed to the glass bottom boat for a different view of the reef. Even spotted a few turtles! After a tasty lunch of wraps and fruit and plenty of it, we were decked out for snorkelling in the lovely clear but cold waters. Again the crew were terrific and made sure everyone was comfortable and had the right gear. The cherry on top was a tail slapping, fin flipping display by a mumma whale and her calf. So wonderful to see and experience. The whole day was awesome with amazing crew and the food was delicious and plenty of it. Luckily the trip home was far more comfortable and a lot gentler on the stomach! 10/10 to the crew. Top day out.

Beautiful location in 1770, just up the hill from 1770 camping ground. Easy walk to private beach to the right, 1.5 klm walk one way to the top of the hill but if you don't cope well with steps it may be better to go for a short walk then drive up to the Roundhill Headland carpark and then walk to the lookout from there.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful, beautiful park with a really beautiful view. (Original) Skøn, skøn park med virkelig smuk udsigt.

At the time of writing this review It looks like the walkway is very new and there is no signage up yet. It is wheelchair accessible with a small incline. The walk itself takes less than an hour to do and has some very pretty outlooks so stop and look around. We found it very easy to get a park in the carpark and is highly recommended if visiting 1770.
