Amazing experience to ride the rail trail can't wait to go back and do it again

From Toogoolawah south to somerset dam turn off, I road about 30 k round trip on ebike. Lots of ballast on trail from rail road. Always seems to go up hill. Going south, on old bridge where you go underneath across creek took me by surprise. Steep with almost a 180 degrees turn. Road this May. Very comfortable temperature then. saw about 10 people on bikes. One lady with kids and pram.
Weldon T — Google review
Great rail trail, with lots of options for doing short or long rides. Plenty of places for coffee or lunch in the towns along the way.

I went here last week and had a fantastic time. The surroundings are so peaceful and the staff are super helpful. The skydive was incredible, thanks to Ash. What a wonderful experience, the views were amazing. They are so good at explaining what to do and I felt totally safe. Would totally recommend to anyone thinking of doing a skydive. Thank you.

I did my AFF licence here with my brother, and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life! 🪂 The instructors are absolute legends. Professional, patient, and somehow still manage to make you laugh while you’re about to jump out of a plane. The vibe on the drop zone is just amazing. Friendly faces, great energy, and always someone around with a good story. Whether you’re here to learn or just to have a blast, fun is 100% guaranteed! Thanks, Skydive Ramblers, for turning freefall into pure joy! 🙌
Daniel F — Google review
I got my husband a skydive for his 60th birthday at Skydive Ramblers. Check in was very easy and staff and club members were friendly and helpful. Can't recommend Ty enough for how at ease he made my husband feel with his jokes and sense of humor. He really went above and beyond making sure my husband had a great experience. Would easily recommend this company for your skydive adventure.
Jacka — Google review
Absolutely incredible experience for my first tandem jump last weekend! The atmosphere is fantastic - every member of the crew we encountered were ultimate professionals while still keeping the vibe relaxed. Massive thanks to Shani, Robin, and Ty who, despite some challenging weather (cloud cover), made sure we had a great morning. I highly recommend Ramblers, and definitely opt for the photos of your jump - Shani did an amazing job.
Brendan W — Google review
The jump was for my sons 18th, they helped put him at ease and never once made him feel anxious. They were clear with instructions and repeated as many times as needed. Was fantastic to watch! There were people jumping constantly and was all done with absolute professionalism. Couldn't fault it.
Monique W — Google review
Saturday drive on the 6th of July, for my birthday on the 8th, to Ramblers for my skydive on Sunday the 7th, Was - OMG!!! OMG!!! an incredible and amazing day!!! I was so exhausted with the mixture of not enough sleep from excitement, adrenaline and I even think tbh maybe a bit of fear thrown in there lol 🤣 Even though my birthday wasn’t till Tuesday this weekend felt like it WAS my birthday and the skydive was a way to celebrate it!!! 🥰 It was a the most wonderful experience and it was just unforgettable in every way possible to me!!! What’s even more amazing was I had all my beautiful family with me to share in it too. Staying the night before in a cabin was the best choice for me, as I got to meet so many lovely and wonderful people on the Saturday and enjoy the atmosphere of the skydivers as they did their Jumps and meet alot of the lovely staff too. I had an incredible instructor named Ty and after doing the Jump Ty gave me a gift pack and in it was a discounted voucher to do another jump. I wasn’t sure how I felt about doing another jump tbh, nor doing one straight after doing the very first one either lol 😂 I looked at hubby John and then to the kids Amy, David and Kirk and said maybe I should do it again today, seeing you’re all here?? They all just said they would go with whatever I wanted to do!! And even though my heart was still racing and I was still shaking I thought that because I already had the family there and Ty was working all day who made my first jump experience incredible , I decided to take the opportunity with what seemed to be everything in alignment to go ahead and do a second jump!! YUP I DID 2 JUMPS!!!! The second time round you see alot more and although of course it is the same, the second experience is a bit different with a different and refreshed awareness from the first time jump and Ty did a few loops the second time round to add to the already amazing experience. Thank you to my beautiful family for coming to be with me and thank you to wonderful Jenny at Ramblers who I spoke to from day 1 and Sara who showed us my video and was also wonderful and to Ty the most amazing person and instructor and to Adam my cameramen for my first jump. They were all amazing people The whole experience was INCREDIBLE!!!! Thank you everyone!!! Gail Winner 🩷💞💖💗💕💓
Gail W — Google review
Ramblers were absolutely fantastic to deal with. My tandem buddy Ash was so welcoming, friendly and professional (even when I vomitted on the dropzone 🤣). I couldn't fault how friendly all of the staff were. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff really got you pumped up for your jump. I love my photos and videos that were edited by Ash and will cherish them as a momento of my jump. Thank you Ramblers for making my 30year dream come true.
Stephanie M — Google review
Really friendly atmosphere, the instructors really took care of our mum, she had a great birthday! Very professional, very safe, not to mention the best hash browns I've ever had. Can recommend!

Grandchester Train Station

$$$$affordable
Suburban train line
Grandchester Train Station is a charming historical site that invites visitors to step back in time and reflect on its rich past. While it may not boast an extensive list of attractions, the station's ambiance allows you to envision bustling days gone by, with bullock teams and elegantly dressed travelers embarking on journeys. The friendly staff enhance your experience with their knowledge and enthusiasm, making it a delightful stop for families and history buffs alike.
Lovely place. Should be restored and turned into a cafe/meeting place to commemorate the immense history of the area.

Worth visiting this beautiful area of South East QLD. We took the steam train highly recommend. Arrived to hot lunch at Granchester , A great place to take the children big and small. Thanks to the volunteer staff that do a fantastic job and are very knowledgeable .
Karen M — Google review
I really loved the Grandchester Railway station . Wonderful to see enthusiastic volunteers using their skills and talents to cook food, sell tickets and drive the miniature trains. Lovely to see families enjoy the train rides.
Judy G — Google review
A quaint little station. Staff are friendly and very informative. Well worth a visit. Makes a great little day trip. And while in grandchester, you might also like to visit the miniature live steam railway at grandchester or the local tavern, for a light refreshment or a meal.
Steven H — Google review
While there doesn't appear much to see and do, taking the time to stand in this historic place, you can contemplate all the history. Its easy to imagine as a hub of commerce with bullock teams, or the initial opening as you look up at Lady Bowen Hill and imagine throngs of people dressed in their finery. Or those who jumped on this train and went to war.

As far as Campsites that remind you of school camps, thin plastic coated mattresses, and bunk beds go, this one is definitely a winner. Awesome showers ftw. Great views. Right on the waters edge. Has a tennis/basketball court, area for a fire, outdoor pizza oven, +++.
Carina T — Google review
Great setup with the BBQ area however it is set on the side of a steep hill so ensure you bring your muscles lol The FAQs say that you are allowed to bring your dogs as long as they are on a leash, yet the owner's dogs were not and were walking around the campground during the whole night barking at anything. Noise restrictions were not policed with other campers being very noisy up past midnight or from 5am in the morning... Having said that the place has huge potential!
Sebastian C — Google review
Went out for a weekend of camping decided on a powered site to keep the kids tablet and our phones powered. The sites were standard size but it was impossible to bet the tent pegs in the ground where we were just kept hitting rocks..they have kayaks to hire and a private boat ramp.. but it was a pretty expensive weekend as costs were quite high.. they also have fire pits to hire if you want a fire.. the Saturday night got quite rowdy with a lot of noise but most campers were respectful of the 10pm curfew
Rompa82 — Google review
Camping and depended on what ya used to it was glamping for us.. Nothing fancy just comfortable. Hot showers, school camp like cabins, big open spaces, camp fires ,pets allowed.Great for boating and kyaking. The swimming is a but muddy at 1st but lovely water.Great friendly staff. Not you 4star motel but it's a camp ground,Tidy enough for us
Nadia P — Google review
Good old fashioned cabin camping. Not flash but just what the doctor ordered. Staff are great and dogs friendly. Can hire kayak/canoe. Peace and quiet for the weekend.
Amanda F — Google review
Nice campsite. Diane was very good with booking our large group. The showers have fabulous showerheads with warm water always. It is a bit dated but it was relatively clean whenever we went. There is ample space and trees and close to Reynolds Creek and Wyaralong dam for some watercraft when Moogerah is low. Games room and tennis court/basketball court was also bonus for our kids. Ample firepits available. Stunning virws and sunset. Flat rate per person makes the fee for kids a bit steep. The campsite is ideal for large groups and it is a bonus that dogs are allowed.

Our family hosted our 2023 Sepelini Fonoti Family Reunion at Camp Moogerah. The drive was beautiful (make sure ur map takes you through ipswich freeway- otherwise its gonna give you a merry go round to gold coast than back to ipswich lol) funny much we were the last to leave and first to arrive haha, We stayed for 2nights and it was totes an experience as in there was Praise nd worship, there were tears, there was stories n laughters, shared pain, singing outbursts, mostly understanding the importance of AIGA (family). Due to QLD weather being super hot in November, it really felt like we were in samoa, walking up and down those hills, huffing n puffing to the toilets or back to th kitchen. They had a commercial kitchen we only fished for knifes haha (we made do). The Staff were amazing the two besties THANK YOU for allowing us to enjoy, relax nd be loud 🤣 Due to privacy below are the only vids i can post hahahah

Ravensbourne National Park

Nature & Wildlife Areas
National park with interpretive trails, sheltered picnic areas & remnants of original rainforest.
Well worth a drive to the lookout. Picnic areas and bush walks well mapped out. And birds.
Nerida S — Google review
Trail was moderately well maintained but otherwise nice! There were a lot of old trees blocking the main routes and not enough signage. But if you’re keen for a 5-10km run that loops back, it’s a good route with minimal elevation. Would love a bit more signage and perhaps better mapping
Matthieu M — Google review
Nice forest park with a lot of ferns and old trees. Can experience bio diversity than other forests near Toowoomba and Gatton reagoen. You can feel the darkness and listen to lots of birds inside the forest. Sand caves are very attractive. Insects and birds can be found. Best to visit in the morning.
Amara N — Google review
Beautiful rainforest and walks just wish there were abit more direction and better mapping our 1.9k walk ended in a 6k walk which was fine for us but not if someone isn’t as fit as us or starts later in the day. Very confusing map highly suggest more signage or even just arrows would be wonderful so we get a sense that we’re going in the right direction.
Gabrielle C — Google review
Very nice rainforest walk. I did get some leaches on me last time and ticks are around so take some insect repellent with you. Otherwise picturesque
Phillip O — Google review
Beautiful walk and look out area. Picnic area is clean and well maintained. Would highly recommend. One star lost due to too much Lantana.
Kristy M — Google review
Serene, Scenic and wonderful. A short walking trail to get lost in the woods. This has been my quick get away in the nature. Make sure you pick up your own trash as there are no Bins to dispose . You are there to have some peace and you will end up having some 💕💕
Abhijit — Google review
The place has a few great walking tracks, for beginner to intermediate treckers. Nothing hard or too steep. Went with my partner and 2yr old boy. He loved it. It's a beautiful walk with a bit of rainforest type areas. Highly recommend it. Doing almost all tracks too roughly 2hrs

Transport museum was awesome. Kids and adults were impressed. The cafe had great and affordable meals and service with a smile 😁

Great displays of different machinery and trucks. It's not very big, about a 15 minute walk around. No aircon in the room, just big industrial fans that blow hot air. It's not worth the $8 for admission if you don't live in the area, a Gold coin donation would be more suited.

Lunch was lovely at the Cafe. Nice to walk around the park.

Great place. Lots to see. Good cafe. Lots of seating inside and out. Very polite staff. Heaps of parking. Worth a visit 🙂

Cool, friendly, and informative :) Lots of parking even a special area for caravans and motorhomes. They have an information centre as you first walk in with pamphlets of every major and minor area of Queensland. There are a few display cases of locally made or produced crafts and food products. I purchased some local honey which Im excited to try out! There’s a library connected to the main lobby plus a cafe and the museum to the other side. Definitely recommend stopping in if you’re traveling through the area or if you just want to know more about the Lockyer Valley :)

Thank you to you both we will be back! 🤠

Had the best experience! Cowboy up is a fantastic place to go for a trail ride. The horses are very well looked after and all have lovely personalities. The country side was absolutely stunning. It was the perfect trail ride experience for me and my friend. Highly recommend going! Gill and Peter are the nicest and most down to earth people you will come across. We will definitely be going back 😊
Lucy K — Google review
Excellent trail ride on a beautiful property. If you’re in the area we highly recommend going. We went on a clear Sunday morning, potential to see cows, koalas and bird life.
Zac L — Google review
We had the best time with Cowboy up! This was the perfect place to get our horsey fix, surrounded by such beautiful country. The horses are so so loved and well looked after, which can be rare for trail ride companies. Gill and Peter are such genuine people with a passion for what they do, the way they welcomed us instantly made us feel at home. They shared many stories, advice and travel tips which went above and beyond any other trails we have done before! I would highly recommend Cowboy up and we will 100% be back!
Ashleigh B — Google review
I went riding here yesterday with my two best friends, and we had so much fun! Peter and Gill were so kind and made an effort to talk to us and help us get a real feel for some western riding, the property and trail were absolutely breathtaking and the horses were so beautiful and so well behaved! My friends and I will most definitely be back for another ride!
Kyani M — Google review
Had an amazing time with the beautiful Belle. The owners Gill and Peter are wonderful people and so easy to talk to while going for an adventure through their property. Can’t wait to come back.

We are a family of three, with a daughter 7 years of age and we had the most wonderful experience with beautiful horses and fantastic leaders. Peter and Jill are knowledgeable, experienced horse people who show dedication and love for their horses. We have done a few trail rides in the past, and this was the best so far. The horses are so gentle, happy and well cared for. We will definitely be back!
Katrina A — Google review
What a wonderful morning spent with Gill, Peter, and horses Belle and Tubby on their beautiful property. In our 60's/70's we were a little nervous about getting on a horse but were given expert and easy to understand instructions from Pete before heading off on our 2 hour trail ride. Relaxed, safe and very tailored to our individual needs. Jill and Pete were fabulous hosts, welcoming, informative and great fun. Highly recommend, get out and enjoy. Varri and George.

I took my 2 girls for the Pony Club Experience and they had a blast. We had one girl who was very confident and relaxed on the pony. Sue was great at explaining what needed to be done in a way that was easily understood. My other girl was more anxious about riding, even though she was so keen. Sue was great with her, taking it slowly and letting her get familiar with her horse. And then when she was riding, taking it slowly and making sure she was comfortable. She has talked non-stop about it since. Cannot thank Sue enough for making it such a wonderful experience for my girls.
Melissa B — Google review
We had a great time with Sue on our trial ride. The horses were beautiful! Sue was so accommodating to the beginner riders in our group and had exceptional communication over a number of months (due to weather causing us to postpone a few times). Thank you kindly Katie and Sue, we appreciate your patience and hospitality!
Annalise H — Google review
Fordsdale is a fantastic place to go trail riding. They have beautiful scenery and horses, and provide amazing customer service. Their horses are extremely well looked after. Sue was kind and helpful. You do not have to be an experienced rider, they go through everything you need to know. I highly recommend Fordsdale.
Magdalena T — Google review
I have been to every trail riding place within day trip distance of Brisbane/Gold Coast and Fordsdale is by far the best!!! I have come back many times because Sue is always such an attentive and kind host, making sure I'm comfortable and having a good time. Very welcoming to children and the kids love Tip the pup, Zeus the pony and the baby goats. Even got to bottle feed baby goats and see a newborn foal! The views are amazing and it's just magical hanging around the horses running free in such a beautiful, wild place. The horses are happy, healthy and bright-eyed. There are forward going horses and beginner horses, and once Sue got to know my riding level she let me go super fast! :) I've never had such freedom and thrill at any other riding place in Australia. 100% would recommend!
H K — Google review
My 3 year old nephew is obsessed with horses and I wanted to take him for a pony ride (on a lead rope) and Fordsdale was the closest place to us. Sue was lovely and patient, even when my nephew got quite scared. (my fault, Sue did mention to me that she had horses and not small ponies, but I though it would still be ok). With some support from his big brother, my little nephew got his courage up and in the end he absolutely loved it. He is now even more obsessed with horses and will no doubt be nagging us to come back. Thanks very much Sue and also to Simone, your beautiful anglo arab mare. She was wonderful.
Rebecca F — Google review
Our family loved our weekend here. We felt really looked after by Sue, who went over and above in her hospitality, including making sure we were super comfortable in our tents and well fed. We were off grid but did not feel lacking in any way- we are so glad we chose here to unplug. The horses were incredibly calm, well looked after and peaceful, and we also loved the goats. What a lovely time for us and especially the kids ❤️
Judy M — Google review
I stayed for a 2 day horse riding package at Sue's - and had the most amazing time. Sue was a wonderful host (alongside her support team including Pete and Tip the dog!) with great communication before I arrived. I stayed in winter. The weather was beautiful (if a little chilly at night), the tents are very cosy though with everything you need, a roaring camp fire, fabulous food cooked by Sue (no idea how she rustled up such amazing meals so effortlessly) - all set in the most glorious scenery. This is very much 'off the beaten track' and off-grid, but that only added to the experience. I can ride and was looking for a riding holiday that wasn't simply a 'caravan' trail with horses who had lost all spirit... Sue's horses are top-notch. They are all extremely well cared-for, the fittest horses I have ridden in a long time and with a variety of characters. As Sue knows each horse so intimately she chose the perfect horses to ride for my ability, and I was able to experience several rides across a variety of terrain in the surrounding area. Sue is great company and very knowledgable about the area, wildlife - and of course the horses. All-in-all I would have no hesitation in recommending this riding holiday to anyone wanting to properly experience rural Australia on horseback. I'd love to go back one day.

What an amazing experience. Did an overnight package with my 9 year old. Sue is a great and engaging host and we were very well looked after. Amazing horses and goats etc. Highly recommended if you’re after a proper ‘country’ experience.

What a wonderful treasure in the garden city. We had breakfast overlooking the valleys below and what a breathtaking view. The big breakfast is big enough for two and the food was delicious 😋. Our waiter Mason, was absolutely fantastic both welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Picnic Point Restaurant in Toowoomba with a large group of 20 people. From start to finish, our experience was nothing short of exceptional and the view was amazing. Pre-ordering our meals before arrival made the service smooth and efficient, allowing us to relax and enjoy our time together. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and there was a fantastic variety that even the children loved. The wait staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, ensuring our needs were met with genuine care. A special shout-out to Mason, who played a key role in making our visit so enjoyable. His friendly and professional approach truly enhanced our dining experience. We are sincerely grateful for the outstanding service and high-quality food. We highly recommend Picnic Point Restaurant and can’t wait to return for another wonderful meal. Thank you to the entire team for making our gathering memorable!

Inside was cold on a hot day, so we sat outside in the shade with fabulous views. For me the acoustic inside isn't great either, quite loud, but as I said, very nice to sit outside. Staff is very friendly and food was delicious and well presented. I can definitely recommend this place.

Loved our time having breakfast here with a beautiful view 🤌🏼 the staff was so friendly and lovely especially the guy that was cleaning and setting up the tables early morning, loved his vibe 🙌🏾. Our breakfast was yummy definitely coming back next time we’re in Toowoomba 😊

My best friend and I had lunch here today. The place is quite spectacular, very modern, clean, stylish and spacious inside. Its has a very pleasing and friendly atmosphere. It's beautifully lit and has views that you simply couldn't afford if you had to pay for them. That staff were superb, with unmatchable enthusiasm and friendliness. The food was lovely, delicious, well made and beautifully presented. Downsides - none really, other than a lack of internet enabled food ordering from the table. We got stuck behind someone who simply had no idea what they were doing, and it took her 15 minutes to place her order. That's ridiculous, but not the restaurant's fault. Thanks, Mason, you're awesome! Very, very, highly recommended! 12/10!

Queensland Museum Cobb+Co in Toowoomba is a local history museum that showcases the national collection of vehicles, particularly from the horse-drawn era. It's part of Queensland Museum and features a wide array of horse-drawn vehicles, archaeological artifacts, and historical Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander objects. The museum offers something for all ages to enjoy and learn about Toowoomba's rich history dating back to the early 1800s.
Was just passing by and decided to go in and suss it out. Loved the museum! Their displays of restored carriages from the 19th century is amazing, well explained and interactive, really preserved a piece of Queensland history! There is also a science area for kids, very interactive and fun, highly recommended. The prices are fair, 12.5$ adults, and 10$ for students or concesion

Interesting place indeed. So much Australian History. This place makes you proud to be an Aussie. I loved all the old carriages especially the caravan. I also thought the Cobb & Co. Journey's were fascinating, I could have watched and read it all. There were boxes and suitcases around the place showing you what families lived in the area. That was clever. The Saddlery and Wheelwright workshops were very interesting. I liked how you can go to classes to learn these trades. Toowoomba's Carnival of Flowers pot plant winners were on show throughout the museum, very colourful. As I was an out of towner, it costs me $12.50 but if you lived in the Toowoomba region it was free. It's a small price to pay for some wonderful Australian history. I highly recommend.

It's a wonderful time in Toowoomba. Gardens throughout the town are full of vibrant flowers and creativity. Lots to see and do in Queens Park, from shopping at the local farmers markets, going to the amusement park, winding through the maze or strolling through the park. I highly recommend Toowoomba's Carnival of Flowers 💐

This is a stunning, well maintained park. There are trees planted along all of the paths offering shaded areas, and the lawns are kept neat and tidy. The Flower Festival really makes great use of the garden beds in September and October, and the option of various playgrounds here is appealing. There are wide open spaces to kick around a ball in and various paths to get around the vast park area with. A beautiful spot.

Laurel Bank Park is a picturesque park and playground located in Toowoomba. The park features beautifully landscaped gardens, topiaries, and seasonal flower displays, providing a scenic backdrop for visitors. The playground offers various amenities such as slides, nets, a small rock climbing wall, swings, and more. Additionally, the park boasts large open grass areas suitable for playing cricket or football. Visitors can also enjoy well-maintained gardens with bridges over water features for leisurely strolls.
A beautiful park with manicured lawns and gardens that are obviously well maintained on a regular basis. Our visit was in Winter and the trees were bare and there were no flowers in bloom, but there was still a sense of peace. I can only imagine the beauty of it all in Spring. There’s a playground for the kids to burn off their energy and people had their dogs with them as well.

Laurel Bank Park in Toowoomba is a sensory delight and a local treasure—especially for flower lovers and families. Here's what makes it shine: Floral Spectacle - Famous for its springtime displays during the Carnival of Flowers, with tulips, cherry blossoms, and themed garden beds that draw crowds and cameras. - The Scented Garden, designed with input from the Downs Association of the Blind, features raised beds of fragrant herbs and blooms for an immersive experience. Play and Relaxation - A recently upgraded playground includes inclusive equipment like adaptive swings, climbing walls, and nets. - Wide lawns, shaded picnic areas, croquet greens, and water features make it perfect for a leisurely afternoon. Community and Charm - Hosts events like the Carnival Parade and Devonshire teas at the Croquet Club. - Interactive art, animal-shaped topiaries, and sculptures add whimsy and character throughout the park. Accessibility and Amenities - Easy parking, clean toilets, and nearby cafés like Urban Designs make it visitor-friendly. - Dogs are welcome, and the park’s compact layout makes it easy to explore without feeling rushed. Historical Roots - Donated in 1932 by Samuel George Stephens, known as “the man of flowers,” who personally cultivated the land before gifting it to the city. If Queens Park is Toowoomba’s grand stage, Laurel Bank Park is its intimate garden theatre—bursting with color, fragrance, and community spirit.

Nestled on the northern side of the University of Southern Queensland campus, the UniSQ Japanese Garden, known as Ju Raku En, is a stunning representation of traditional Japanese landscape design. Established in the 1980s by Professor Kinsaku Nakane from Kyoto, this garden embodies principles that promote peace and longevity. Gorgeous garden, authentic Japan feel. Great place for a gentle walk, picnics and even wedding photos. Quite and serene. Public toilet on site. Please keep dogs/pets on leash as lots of birds and ducks on site

A lovely and enchanting place, perfect for a relaxing walk or taking beautiful photos. We even took a little back way to reach the gardens, which made it feel more adventurous. The only downside was that it was quite busy, so it was hard to get photos without people in the background. Still, it’s a wonderful spot to stop by and enjoy.

Lovely garden! Very tranquil when not busy, avoid during the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers if you want peace! The cherry blossoms are blooming currently which was also a huge bonus (26/09). Parking was slightly problematic with the festival but usually isn’t too bad.
B F — Google review
It was a fortunate experience to visit on a weekday. The cherry blossoms were in full bloom, presenting a stunning display of seasonal beauty. With fewer visitors, the surroundings remained peaceful and serene, allowing for an uninterrupted appreciation of the natural scenery. This timing provided an ideal opportunity to capture and enjoy the essence of the garden at its finest.
Mai T — Google review
Visited this place late afternoon on the last weekend (which also happened to be a long weekend) of the Carnival of Flowers, so was very crowded with visitors, picnicers and kids but was still a beautiful place. Not as peaceful and tranquil as it can be at others times i have visited. Wistetia and lillies were in bloom but it looked like the cherry bloosoms may have just finished when we visited in early October. Don't miss a stroll through our own native flora at the Gumbi Gumbi Gardens just around the corner.
Franca C — Google review
Peaceful and relaxing place to walk, sit, talk or meditate, even picnic. There are a few tables near the lake and a covered Pavilion overlooking the lake and gardens. Recommend a visit. Beautifully maintained gardens. Plenty of parking at either entrance. Can be busy in conjunction with festivals, but mostly a great to place to stroll, and enjoy the natural, green 'architecture'. No entry fees. Most walks are flat or modest gradient, some paths have steps, none steep. Toilets at the western boundary.

Wonderful garden, we also visited Queens Park gardens. Between Queens Park and the Japanese Garden it makes the 2 hour drive from Brisbane worth it. Will definitely visit again the future. We actually found this garden to be prettier than some of the gardens we visited IN Japan 😁 both Tokyo and Osaka.

Darling Downs Zoo

Zoo
Outdoor Activities
Our visit to the Darling Downs Zoo was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how welcoming and well-organized everything was. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about caring for the animals. The zoo itself is beautifully maintained with spacious enclosures that give you fantastic views of the animals while still respecting their space. We loved seeing so many incredible species up close – the big cats were definitely a highlight, and the giraffes were a hit, especially the baby. What really stood out was how educational the experience was. The keeper talks were engaging and informative, and there were plenty of signs and displays to learn about conservation and the unique stories of each animal.

Unforgettable Experience at Darling Downs Zoo! We had the best day at Darling Downs Zoo! The whole experience was well beyond our expectations — clean grounds, friendly staff, and a wide range of animals you don’t often get to see in a regional zoo. The absolute highlights for us were the lemurs and the giraffes. The lemurs were so lively and fun to watch — full of energy and personality! And the giraffes were simply majestic. Being able to see them up close was a real treat, especially for the kids. It’s clear the animals are well cared for and comfortable in their environments. The zoo layout is easy to follow, with lots of shady spots and areas to sit and enjoy the surroundings. It's perfect for families or anyone who loves animals. You can tell a lot of heart goes into running this place. We’ll definitely be coming back — it’s a hidden gem in the Darling Downs region!
Tom B — Google review
We had a lovely time at the Darling Downs Zoo! It was a fun way to spend the morning/afternoon, even though many of the animals were having a nap when we visited. Still, it was a great experience overall. Pricing was reasonable. No issues with parking. A small suggestion, adding a little coffee spot near the giraffes would be amazing! It’d give visitors a chance to enjoy the epic views (and a caffeine fix) while supporting the zoo even more.
Nicole W — Google review
Darling Downs Zoo is such a great place to spend the day! The enclosures are well-kept, the animals look healthy and cared for, and there’s a wide variety to see—from lions and monkeys to reptiles and birds. The layout makes it easy to walk around, and there are lots of shady spots to stop and rest. The staff are friendly and happy to answer questions, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is that a few areas could use a little updating, as well as needing maybe extra kiosks or food and drink venders. But overall it’s a wonderful zoo and definitely worth a visit if you’re in the region. Perfect for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals!
Ethan S — Google review
Highly recommend visiting this beautiful zoo, the animals are well looked after and with areas maintained, the grounds are reasonably looked after but if that's at the expense of looking after the animals I welcome it. Absolutely worth the money knowing it goes right back into animal welfare. We spent 5 hours wandering around having a break for lunch and going back to see what we missed the first time. Presenters were great at explaining details about the animals too.
Sharyn H — Google review
My boys and I had an amazing day. Although a big drive from the Gold Coast, in the end it was worth it. Such a peaceful zoo, fantastic views, surrounded by nature. Couldn’t believe the amount of animals there to see. Boys finally got to see lions, we also saw some other animals we had never seen before like the addax and the capybara. Spent the whole day there. Grabbed an ice cream to cool off. We will definitely recommend to other families, and will be back to see the lion cubs all grown up. Thank you Darling Down Zoo! 😊
Kay H — Google review
Dropped in late in the day on a Thursday with only around 90min before close. This was definitely not enough time to see the whole park when one of your group is disabled, but we definitely had a great time regardless Staff were lovely, answering questions, volunteering information, and even showing us 2 day old puggles! The enclosures are nice and large and all of the animals looked very healthy and well cared for. We'll definitely be back for a longer visit.
Aimi H — Google review
It really is a hell of a drive both distance and mountain range wise. Not really their fault however, more could definitely be done by the staff to make it actually worth the drive. So many rare animals you don't see at other zoos around Qld especially the large cats however, all you get to see is them sleeping and laying around. There were no shows or interactions at all. Staff should let you interact with some of the smaller or harmless animals such as the capybaras or giraffes etc. My son was so excited to see the capybaras but they were so far away inside a large locked paddock and we could barely see anything when they were laying in the shade. Overall it was a fair price and worth checking out if your in the area but NOT really worth the drive if it's 1.5 hours away or more. Its also great that it's not over commercialised, its much more relaxed and quiet compared to say Australia Zoo at Beerwah but again it is in the middle of nowhere...

Glengallan Homestead & Heritage Centre is a captivating blend of grandeur and decay, with its unfinished sandstone mansion dating back to 1867. Some areas have been restored to their former glory while others remain in disrepair, offering a glimpse into the property's complex history. Visitors can enjoy delicious meals such as the renowned club sandwich and explore the treasure trove of information on site. The friendly staff provide excellent service and even allow leashed dogs on the premises.
It's $15 adults, $5 child entry. Lovely house to look around and the cafe had good food, great coffee. Worth a stop if you are in the area. You can visit the cafe without paying for the house.

The Glengallen Homestaed, what a beautiful piece of architecture and history. You can see the beauty of what the Home used to be…. It would be great to see the original home restored to its former glory. But still a great place to visit. There is a cafe onsite to get a quick bite and drink. So glad We made the decision to visit 😀
Tony S — Google review
We recently visited Glengallan Homestead and were truly impressed by the historical beauty of the property. The homestead itself is absolutely stunning—a fascinating glimpse into the past, lovingly preserved with so much character. Walking through the rooms and learning about the history of the building and the families who lived there was the highlight of our visit. It’s clear a lot of care has gone into maintaining and sharing this unique piece of local heritage. Unfortunately, the café was a letdown. The staff seemed quite disorganised and unsure about basic service and menu details, which made the experience less enjoyable. It felt like there was a lack of training or clear systems in place. That said, if you’re interested in Queensland’s history and architecture, Glengallan Homestead is still absolutely worth a visit. Just don’t set your expectations too high for the café, or consider bringing your own refreshments instead. Overall, a wonderful spot to step back in time and appreciate a remarkable part of our region’s story.

This is my first time posting anything but I visited the Glengallan Homestead and Cafe on Sunday and it was AMAZING! The food was delicious and came out fast but honestly we wouldn't of been fussed to wait because we could of sat there for hours just enjoying the view. The Homestead itself is really interesting. If you are interested is heritage buildings don't miss this one! It's setup like a museum, its very easy to find your way arround and you can do it at your own pace. The staff were also super friendly and took their time to answers all our questions, make us feel welcome despite being busy and even tell us a few stories about the place. Highly recommend visiting.
Selena G — Google review
Really great historic place both the homestead and the items on the surrounding properties. We got a nice introduction by the manager and then spent a couple of hours exploring and reading. The homestead is an iconic sandstone mansion, originally built in 1867, was restored from ruin in 2001. It offers a self guided tour and the cafe is welcoming. What I really liked was the acknowledgment of Country and the Traditional Custodians and the story of the Brown Snake Dreaming.
Ross D — Google review
We called in on a Sunday afternoon. Had coffee and scones before looking through the homestead. Great Merlo coffee and the scones were very good. We then wondered over to the homestead. The house is huge, which I found fascinating. There's been a huge amount of restoration completed. However, there are sections that remain to be done. But it's gives you an opportunity to see how the house was built. At 15 dollars each entry, I think it's pretty good value.

A great little aviation museum! Although it's not very large, the collection is impressive and the aircraft are extremely well preserved. The helicopters and fixed-wing planes on display are in excellent condition, and each exhibit includes informative signage that provides useful background on their history and service. The layout is neat and easy to navigate, making the visit both enjoyable and educational. It's a bit of a drive from Brisbane, but if you're interested in military aviation or Australian Army history, it's well worth the trip!

The Kedron Wavell RSL Sub Branch Volunteers, along with the Liaison students from the local secondary schools around the Chermside area, had the pleasure of visiting the Australian Army Flying Museum located Bawden Boulevard (formerly Museum Dr, Oakey QLD 4401. The Australian Army Flying Museum is about 4 kilometres north of the township of Oakey & is only a short drive from the Oakey Army Aviation Centre. The museum provides an insight into Australian military aviation from historical to contemporary perspectives & is always looking to expand its history of aviation. Scott, who is a retired Army veteran of 32 years, is now one of the museum staff provided an excellent overview of the history of the aircraft on display. I was particularly impressed with the extensive knowledge & detail that Scott provided of the history of the various wars that Australian military personnel fought in from World War 1 right through to the present time. The military aircraft on display are in pristine condition with the museum staff & volunteers putting in a lot of time to ensure people that visit are provided with the best facilitated display & information. The Australian Army Flying Museum is open to the public from Tuesday through to Saturday from 10.00 am. to 3.00 pm & is free to visit. This museum is located on the ground floor level, with wheelchair access toilets onsite. There is adequate open air parking available with disabled parking close to the front entrance to the museum. Kedron Wavell RSL Sub Branch members & students were definitely impressed with the excellent display & the thinking going forward by the RSL that it could become an annual visit.

Great place to stay- highly recommend! We stayed in their 2 bedroom cabin. Was lovely and clean, and you could read about the history of the cabin inside. Camp grounds and amenities well taken care of. The care takers were lovely and very accommodating. Had a look around the woolshed and grounds and our toddler loved it, great little animal nursery too. Will be back. Thanks again :D

It holds fish but we didnt have any luck Friendly and helpful caretakers Kids loved the farm animals and lambs in the nursery. Lucky enough to have the place just about empty so a very quiet stay Great history and displays around the woolshed complex Very clean and tidy facilities

The lady on reception was friendly and very helpful. She knew the area well and gave us great suggestions about what to see nearby, and out of town for some distance. She also gave good advice on narrowing down our north route. We got some new pamphlets to read as well.

The visitor centre is a great place to get information about the area and it also has quite a lot of local memorabilia There are many items featuring the famous local racehorse Gunsynd, winner of the Melbourne Cup

The library is amazing! Kids area is absolutely beautiful and the staff are so lovely. It’s a shame they only have limited First 5 Forever programs. The Information Centre is well displayed.

Great experience. The hot pool was like a spa think they said it was around 40 degrees. Good to just sit in and relax. Lots of people but was big enough for everyone. The bigger pool they said was always between 28-32 degrees and was perfect for doing some short laps. Much less people in this one. The pools themselves are worth the visit for $8 but the amazing staff made it even better. The lad at the front counter was very friendly and welcoming and explained how it all worked. Then the 2 life guards at the bigger pool had the music pumping and were dancing along to the cheers of the ladies in the pool, what a vibe!
Adrian B — Google review
Only one small pool open, paid $9, walked back out, they didn’t mention that the large pools were closed. Waste of . Thank you for the reply. You have a wonderful facility, haven’t been for a few years and the new improvements will be fantastic. Yes the staff should let people know about the closure of the bigger pools so people can choose to stay. Good luck with the project

First time visitor from the coast, here to enjoy the thermal pool. Staff were highly professional and very friendly. The whole place is well kept and super clean. Looking forward to visiting again in the future.
Andrew C — Google review
Friendly staff, great temperature pool. Only issue - website not up to date with status of renovations - only 1 pool open, and no Wellness Centre with a sauna and massage, (but still on website). I came from Sydney especially, so a bit disappointed. Still a great experience though. I walk with a stick, and great disabled shower and toilet, plus i managed the few stairs into the pool with grab rails no problem. Great day and pensioner concession rates.

Dropped in at Moree Pools, looking to get the natural experience, yes there was some works / Improvements going on, but Service Office Jennifer guided us through that, making our experience special with limited facilities. She interacted with our young children like little adults and made us feel at home. Such a genuine person and an asset to the Moree facility. We really enjoyed our visit and will come back next time we're down this way.

Never return my money back. Been going in-store to solve the problem for at least 4 times over the past year. It’s 100 bucks, it’s not much, but it is wrongly charged. That’s why I am leaving a review after a year. And if anyone in the management team is willing to resolve the matter. Please reach out to me. Thanks.
Patricia S — Google review
Out of the 5 pool they only have working. There is no pool to cool down in and the pool that is open is very small so it's way too crowded. They put the price up. Crazy 15 to enter . They should have reduced it. It's like buy a ice cream that has been 3/4 eaten and they charge you double. Moree council should be ashai for this mess. Years it's been renovating. I sure the locals must want to sack the whole lot
Susan S — Google review
This is our second trip to Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre coming from Western Sydney & we absolutely love it! Such a great set up for everyone to enjoy the health benefits of the artesian water. The water is amazing & all the staff are great. Although a special mention must go to Danielle the Life Guard who is friendly, very approachable, kind & caring. A credit to all Management & staff for an outstanding public health facility, however Danielle & Mr Day are notably an asset to the place. We will definitely be returning every year!

A beautiful well presented facility with a lot of local Australian made products for sale. The staff were very friendly but struggled to provide much help with what to see and do in the local area. This was surprising as we actually ended up figuring out a lot of good things to see and do ourselves from the information we obtained from the brochures they had on display. Moree is a great place to explore The amenities located within the building were very clean and well maintained.

Staff member was very helpful. As a former Moree resident, who was very saddened to see how the town had deteriorated, was glad to be able to buy a Lillymans soft drink.

Unwind and rejuvenate at the Artesian Bore Baths in Lightning Ridge, a unique experience in outback New South Wales. The mineral-rich waters, with temperatures ranging from 104F to 122F (40C-50C), offer therapeutic value and a soothing soak in an open-air pool. These baths are free to enter and open 24/7, providing visitors with the opportunity for a relaxing dip under the stars at night.
What a truly relaxing experience. The water is divine. You can't stay in for too long before you feel like a cooked crab. Great showers and toilets. It's open from 12noon all night till 10am how bizarre 🤔 I'd like to try it at night too😍
Debra P — Google review
Clean add easy to use, indoor and outdoor showers. Temperature was a little cooler after rain, but like a hot bath, very relaxing! Guests are coming and going all night but everyone is quietly chatting or relaxing. Showers have a sulphur smell, but the scent doesn't stay on you, and the baths themselves are odourless. Free & open all hours except 10 AM to noon for cleaning.

Almost too hot but a great experience. Best at dawn. Good sunset. Hot. Best to perch yourself on the edge or a step. Guaranteed to sleep like a baby afterwards.

Fantastic FREE public hot spring /bore baths. The water here is HOT, and varies between 40°- 46°C. There is also a second, smaller pool which is a few degrees cooler, but is only about 300mm deep, as opposed to the main pool which is about 1.6m deep. The pools are open all day every day, but are closed for cleaning between 10am-noon every day. It’s particularly nice to go in when it is really cold outside and the cool breeze helps keep your face cool.

The John Murray Art Gallery showcases the remarkable work of Australian artist John Murray, known for capturing the essence of the outback and Lightning Ridge through his thought-provoking pieces. His art humorously portrays everyday situations and familiar scenes, often featuring outback themes and cartoon-like impressions of emus. The gallery offers a diverse collection of original artwork for sale, as well as affordable prints. Visitors can also explore the outdoor garden adorned with sculptural pieces.
John Murray is a skilled artist. His works draw you in so that you notice the little details that we as travellers may not be conscious of when exploring the outback. Things like the odd rusty nail, an aging railway sleeper, a beetle moving through the remnants of a long ago settlement, broken wire fences.. Once you spot them you are looking for the details in each piece and can wonder in his use of brilliant outback colours and caricature artwork. He has obviously been very busy throughout town with the myriad amazing murals around Lightning Ridge. An amazing artist!
Lisa A — Google review
I just love John Murray's art work! As we have travelled it's been on silos and murals in places unheard if. The gallery is worth a viewing especially take time to watch the video of John speaking how he arrived in Lightening Ridge, his home and his art work. Only a small piece purchased but I have so many photos from the places visited and sighted his brilliant work. Thanks John for such talent!

A great chance to look at a lot of fantastic art. Even the kids were amazed. Sadly just missed John himself when we popped in. Loads of great merch based on John's art. No photos inside but lots to shoot outside and all around the town. Street parking out front

Definitely a must to visit! The artwork here is absolutely fantastic! So glad we dropped in for a look, left with the cutest cow cushion and small print! Free entry to get in a bonus but good luck leaving without buying something!

The Chambers of the Black Hand is an underground gallery located in an old opal mine, featuring over 350 hand-carved sculptures on the sandstone walls. These intricate carvings depict a wide range of subjects, from historical scenes like the Last Supper and ancient Egypt to representations of rock stars such as KISS. Visitors can explore this unique space, which is dimly lit, adding a touch of spookiness to the experience.
A fantastic experience in Lightning Ridge. Definitely do the combo tour as the mine part was just as good as the sculpture part - we learnt so much about the history of the Ridge, why and how they mine in the area and a lot about opals. It was a great introduction to the area and the industry If you’re visiting town, this is a must do. Super friendly staff made the experience even better.
Lucy C — Google review
Great place. Good set-up, interesting and informative. Friendly staff. Only improvements needed would be to provide a way more tourist friendly carpark and put big signs on their building to say that's them. There are 2 flags but they were hanging straight down and couldn't be seen. Use the GPS and it will land you right there anyway.
Gary ( — Google review
Do it! Go and see it! I had heard about the place from people and when we decided to visit lightning ridge we finally made it! We did the tour of the carvings and had a guided tour on the mine level learning from a local Opal miner! Just fantastic! The photos and videos just dont do the place justice! Its something you need to see to appreciate. Could easily go back multiple times and still not see everything!
Tarra W — Google review
This mine is absolutely amazing! The sculptures are brilliant and every turn brings a new surprise. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the shop is well set up. This is a definite stop if you are visiting Lightning Ridge. 10/10 folks!

The black Hand Mine is a must see attraction when in lightning ridge. This attraction exceeded our expectations. Don't be afraid to take children into the mine the safety measures are excellent. There is a lift for those of us with mobility issues. Make sure you go you will not be disappointed. L&M. Brisbane July 2025

Learnt many things about the creation and locating of opals and the conditions needed to produce them. The massive amount of work that goes into digging tem out. The sculptures here were incredible to see. Really worth the time to see them. To do justice it would take several hours.
