In navakailaya’s this is the removing dhosams of raaghu in navagrahas.Kunnathur is also called as chenkaani.Kaani means land.Chenkaani meant by the land was in red soil.In ancient time kunnathur is called as keelvembunattu chenkaani alias Navaninarayana sathurvedhimangalam. From the information of this temple’s inscription this temple was built in 13th century. King veerapandian donated 4,200 value of money to this temple for daily poojas. There is a land scale in this temple. From the information of this temple inscriptions, this land scale was used to rectify the problems about lands. From the information of copper inscriptions who was preserved by the Nellaiappar temple, Tirunelveli, the temple was called by Thirunaangeesaneri and the god was called as Thirunaagessar (Similarly to Thirunaageswaram Raaghu sthalam). In the outer side of this temple Arumuganainar statue was formed in a single stone with thiruvachi.A serpant mark was found in the main god’s (lingam) chest. This temple was the best place for remedy to the devotees who was affected by raaghu dhosam. This temple is known as raaghu sthalam and also the 4th navakailayam. This is the best remedy place for the devotees for marital problems, infertility, kaaladhosam and nagadhosam. The worship of the lord of this temple is equivalent to worshiping the lord siva in Thirunaageswaram nearly kumbakonam. This temple was located at 11 kms in tirunelveli junction bus stand and railway junction. This temple located at kunnathur, keelathiruvengadanathapuram was in the route of Nellai town to Melathiruvengadanathapuram.Government buses are operated in the Tirunelveli junction bus stand and mini buses are operated in Nellai town to this temple.Lot of rooms and lodge facilities are available in Tirunelveli junction. Once there was a king ruling this area, who had a very rare tree near his palace. The tree used to flower once only and yielded only one flower, which would turn in to a fruit which had the powers of giving eternal youth and strength to the person who consumed the fruit. The king used to take special care of safeguarding the tree as the fruit was meant to be consumed only by him. One day, a pregnant woman was carrying a pot of water from the river and passed by the tree. The ripe fruit fell into her pot, but she did not realize it. The next day, not finding the fruit, the king ordered a house-to-house search and located the pregnant woman. Without inquiry, the king ordered the woman to be killed. Despite all her pleading, the king remained steadfast and so, the woman cursed that all the living beings in the village would perish except pregnant women, children and the cows. Soon, the village became deserted, and the lingam installed by Romaharshana also went unattended. However, the cows which used to graze in the forest started pouring their milk on the lingam. When the Pandya king was informed of this, he immediately ordered the area to be cleaned the area and built a proper temple for the Lord. This enabled the woman’s curse to be negated. (Gotha is Sanskrit for cow).

Nava kailaya temple. So calm. Kept neatly. Archakas are so humble and so helpful to the devotees. When we enter the temple, Amman welcome us with her divine smile. It gives lot of inner peace. May a small temple when comparing with other Nava kailaya Temples. But i feel Amman and kailashanathar gave lot of blessing toward us

Nadu-Kailayam - Mid Kailash 🙏🏽. Dedicated to The North Node / Rahu - ராகு. DEITY - Lord Gotha Parameswarar (Sivan) / Goddess Sivagami (Parvati). This temple is aka Sangaani Sivan Temple by the Locals 👍🏼. The Idol of this temple is an art 😍. It's Sculpted from a Single Stone. The Snake on Lord Sivan's Chest simplifies the power of his rule 🙏🏽. Marraige interruptions will attain peace 🕊️ after your visit to this Temple 🤗. Don't Forget to visit Thiruvengadanathapuram Temple which is near to this Shrine 🙏🏽.

I had the opportunity to visit the Nellaiappar Temple in Tirunelveli on 10th August, and it was truly a divine and memorable experience. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva (Nellaiappar) and Goddess Kanthimathi, stands as one of the grandest temples in South India with its magnificent gopurams and intricate stone carvings. The vast corridors, majestic pillars, and the musical stone columns reflect the architectural brilliance of the Pandya dynasty. The spiritual atmosphere inside the temple was deeply calming, and the darshan was very peaceful. A 2nd biggest siva temple in world, with very huge 3(3 for ambal + 3 for shiva)pragarams. Gomathy ambal is very gorgeous 😍 (gnanasakthi swaroopam). I have given 5 starts because every inch of the temple are very clean , Management is not shown that much interest in commercializing darshan( No 100rs,50 rs tickets for darshan) only 5 rs that too not required for all days . I really felt shivas heaven when I entered near garbhagraham of nellaiyappar .I suggest all to visit arround 5.30 Am to see the thiruvanathal sevai ,you will never forget the temple in life

The beach is one of the most beautiful in South India. On one side of the beach the waves were aggressive and other side it was serene. Must visit place to have a long walk and quiet evening.
Mohammed V — Google review
I've visited this unique beach multiple times, and its landscape is truly beautiful and unlike any other beach. The waterways adjacent to the main beach make it look like a collection of small islands. The water level is perfect for swimming. Nearby, there's a famous church where many devotees gather, and you can conveniently park your vehicle there. The beach also features a lighthouse. There is quite a bit of construction happening in the area, but hopefully, it won't detract from its natural beauty. There are many food shacks offering fresh fish dishes with rice. We tried some, and they were delicious, though not outstanding. We spent a long time walking on the sandy and rocky beach, thoroughly enjoying its beauty. I highly recommend visiting at least once.

This beautiful temple is a part of Navatirupati group of temples, located about 20kms from Tiruchendur. Temple has been newly renovated and appears very visually pleasing. Lord Venkateshwara diety looks same as the one in Tirupati. Road connectivity is really good. They sell Laadu/Laddu Prasadam which is out of the world. Next level

Temple is very well built and maintained by Saravana bhavan. Anandhanam is too good. ONE THING special darsham 50rs collected by giving deepam oil and collected back at temple entrance. Its better to keep 50rs directly why giving oil and getting it back.

VanaThirupathi is a blissful and serene temple in the small village of Punnaiyadi. We visited on a Saturday morning.Took a bus from Tuticorin (buses ply between Tuticorin and Nazareth has a prominent stop here - 26rs) and took about 1hr 15 mins It was not crowded, had a wonderful Dharshan. They provide very good Prasadam. There are also few temples dedicated to the deities of the land nearby. Please visit them too.

Extremely positive vibes throughout the Temple but the way from Thiruchendur especially in the late evenings is quite dark and isolated, better to travel in groups or before sunset

It feels like tirupathi Annadhaanam provided by temple management for all devotees near to railway station
Selva K — Google review
This temple is situated in the middle of the forest hence its called as Vana Thirupathi which means Thirupathi temple in the middle of the forest. This temple was built in 90's by Saravana Bhavan owner and he has kept his parents statue at the entrance of the temple. The temple is maintained neat and clean and they don't have any hundi's in the temple too. They have many deities within the temple and Lord Perumal is the main god. They have good parking space and have all the amenities including the restaurant in this place. You can get the blessings of the lord in a peaceful manner and you get to see Lord Venkateshwara in close without much crowd. You can definitely visit this place and get the blessings of the god when you travel via this route.

Centuries-old temple on the Bay of Bengal with a distinctive 9-story tower & a natural spring.
Went recently to this beautiful temple on the shore filled with calmness around. A spl darshan ticket on a Monday evening 4pm took about 10 mins to see the Lord Muruga. Such a quick darshan which I never imagined. Golu display was awesome and almost 30+ stages of dolls to showcase the culture and divinity. The beach will make you to drench even if you dont wish for one. Such inviting it is. I visited the Thiruchendur Murugar Temple last month. The temple is located near the seashore, and the surroundings looked very beautiful. Before going to the temple, I went to the beach and the Nazhikinaru Theertham, which are close to the temple. The sea breeze was cool and refreshing, and many people were enjoying themselves on the beach. I also visited Nazhikinaru, a small sacred well near the shore. The water there was surprisingly sweet, even though it is so close to the salty sea. I washed my hands and sprinkled a little water on my head before heading to the temple. After that, I entered the temple. The tall gopuram looked majestic, and I could hear devotional songs and temple bells. The temple was crowded with devotees but very clean and well managed. I slowly moved in the queue and had a nice darshan of Lord Murugar, who was beautifully decorated with flowers and ornaments. After the darshan, I received prasadam — warm and tasty sakkarai pongal. Then I went to the annadhanam hall, where they served hot food to all visitors. The meal was simple but delicious, and the volunteers served everyone kindly. Before leaving, I bought some small souvenirs from the nearby shops. My visit to Thiruchendur Murugar Temple was a happy and memorable experience.

One among the 6 famous temples of lord murugan. The uniqueness of this temple is that all other 5 temples are located on a hill top or near a hill, but Tiruchendur is the only temple which is located near the sea shore. This temple is famous for the function kantha shasti or soora samharam, in which lord Subramaniya alias lord murugan kills the asuran Soorabhathman and saves the Devas from his torture. This temple is under the control of the Ministry of HR&CE , Government of Tamilnadu . Government has taken many measures to develop and increase the amenities for the people and the pilgrims to facilitate ease of movement of the crowd to worship the Lord Subramaniya and Lord Shanmuga which are the main deities of the temple.

Tiruchendur Murugan Temple is not just a temple to me. It is my home of faith, peace and miracles. Every time I visit, I feel Lord Murugar’s presence so strong that it is impossible to leave without a heart full of blessings. The gopuram is breathtaking. The divine aura and the powerful stillness around the temple make you instantly feel protected. Standing before Lord Murugar here is an experience beyond words. It feels like he listens, understands and holds you close. One of the most magical parts of this temple is the sea right beside it. The sound of the waves, the cool breeze, and the view of the ocean merging with the temple creates a divine atmosphere that you cannot find anywhere. I can personally say that Lord Murugar has done wonders in my life. Every prayer I have made here has been heard in unexpected ways. The guidance, protection, and blessings I have received from Him are beyond words. Whenever life feels heavy, I come back to Tiruchendur and every time, He lifts me up again. If you are looking for peace, miracles, or a connection to something higher, Tiruchendur Murugan temple is a must visit. It’s not just a temple. It’s a divine experience. Om Muruga🙏❤️

We did not take any special ticket for darshan as it was weekday and no special occasion. But during occasion please opt for special darshan, it can reduce waiting time in queue. Definitely stay for a day and enjoy the beach view as well.

Our Lady of Snows Basilica

Venerable Catholic basilica with a colorful altar & wooden statue of St. Mary dating from the 1600s.
A wonderful and peaceful experience after visiting Our Lady of Snows Basilica. A lot of miracles happen here and pilgrims from all over visit this miraculous shrine. I was truly touched by this shrine and the divine presence of mother could be felt. Looking at the beauty of our mother’s face in the altar you just cannot take your eyes away from our mother. Beautiful church both interiors and exteriors and the surroundings too are beautiful. Good parking space, wash rooms, hand wash facilities available here. Spend time with our mother and sure you will benefit in many ways. Amen ! God Bless 🙏🇮🇳

Built in 16th Century, this Basilica dedicated to the Lady of Snows is a magnificent Church located close to the sea shore of Tuticorin. What makes it a minor Basilica ? A minor basilica is a title given by the Catholic Church to churches that are recognized for their historical significance, architectural beauty, and spiritual importance. To become a minor basilica, a church must meet certain criteria and follow a formal process. Here are the key requirements: It must have a historical significance, architectural merits and spiritual importance. This Church has all the 3 requirements. In addition it houses the holy relic of Our Mother Mary's veil ( a small slice). The main Statue brought from Portugal is credited with many miracles. Many of the statues here are brought from France and elsewhere in Europe. You will find that the Church still has strong roots of Catholicism - from the Latin words at the main altar - Sancta Maria - ora Pro Nobis - meaning Holy Mary - Pray for Us, to the grotto depicting Our lady of Lourdes. It even has a statue of our lady of Guadalupe here. If you travel to this part of tamil nadu, this Pani Madha Koil is one of the main points of attraction.

Just about a km and half from the Railway station, normally a cab or tuk tuk drive will cost only Rs.60 to reach the church the local drivers charge anywhere between Rs100-150. Can't crib over it. A quiet laid back place, fishing is the main occupation and business here.

Absolutely a nice and historical church to visit. But if your travelling from a long distance and preferred to stay at the church provided accommodation then please make sure you reach out to the right person with the different contactable number than the one that google advices to contact as it does not exist. Also there are limited rooms currently available and a huge gap in coordination. So, my great advice is to plan for the alternate arrangements for your stay to have a pleasant and divine experience.

Awesome experience with family during 10 days festival which will happen from July 26 to Aug 5. Especially this year it was very grand due to gold car festivals which used to happen every 10 years once. You will find more peace in the presence of madha and nearby you have muthu nagar beach where you can spend time with kids. As this church was built during the British period, it is part of tourism. Don't miss it if you visit tuticorin.

Visited the 3000 year old historic shiva temple. It offers a peaceful and calm environment for devotees. You can feel peace and spiritual uplift when you step inside the temple. The crowds on festival days can be large and there's not much lodging options as it is located in a small town. One of the best thing about this temple is 6 foot tall natarajar idol. The arudra dharishanam festival is a major festival because of the reveal of emerald natarajar idol. no waiting in queue if you go there on normal days. One of the must visit shiva temple in the world.

Other than the main shrines of the Temple, there are other shrines like Maragatha natarajar, manikavasagar shrine etc which are also main attractions Since recently the Kumbabhishekam ceremony was performed, the temple looks pretty awesome with new paint work..
Harish C — Google review
The history believed to span over 3,000 years, this ancient shrine is one of the oldest Saivite temples in South India and holds immense religious, architectural, and cultural significance. Steeped in mythology, the temple is said to be where Lord Shiva shared the secrets of the Vedas with Goddess Parvati—hence the name “Uthirakosamangai,” meaning "the place of the whispered secret." Another significant legend ties the temple to Ravana, the demon king of Lanka, who is believed to have married Mandodari here, implying the temple's sacredness dates back to pre-Ramayana times. Revered saints such as Manickavasagar and Arunagirinathar have sung its praises, securing the temple’s place in Tamil devotional literature. The temple's crowning jewel is its 6-foot tall emerald idol of Lord Nataraja, believed to be carved from a single piece of maragatham (emerald). This rare idol is covered in sandalwood paste year-round and is revealed only once during the grand Arudra Darshan festival in December–January, drawing thousands of devotees from across the region. The presence of a Sahasralingam—one large lingam embedded with a thousand miniature ones—adds to the spiritual mystique and uniqueness of the temple. Architecturally, the temple is a marvel. The structure features intricately carved pillars, towering gopurams, and majestic yali sculptures at the entrance, with stone balls that rotate in the mouths of the mythical creatures an impressive testament to the ingenuity of ancient Tamil artisans. Each element reflects a perfect blend of devotion and craftsmanship. Festivals are celebrated with grandeur and fervor. Arudra Darshan is the most anticipated, followed by Tirukalyana Vaibhavam in April–May, which marks the celestial wedding of Shiva and Parvati. Other important festivals include Maha Shivaratri, Annabishekam, and Vasanthotsavam. Daily rituals and six poojas are performed with devotion, maintaining the temple's traditional rhythm and spiritual energy. However, despite its sanctity and magnificence, a concerning issue shadows the temple experience preferential treatment given to select individuals who offer bribes or donations in exchange for faster access or special privileges. In a place where every pilgrim should be treated equally before the divine, some temple staff reportedly solicit or accept money in return for prioritizing “VIP” visitors. This leaves ordinary devotees many of whom travel from far, wait patiently in lines, and come with sincere devotion feeling marginalized and rushed through their darshan. Such practices raise serious concerns about fairness and the spiritual atmosphere of the temple. In a sacred space that represents divine equality, any form of discrimination or monetary favoritism is not only inappropriate but also undermines the entire purpose of pilgrimage. Temples should be places where all are welcomed with the same reverence, regardless of status or wealth. To preserve the sanctity of Uthirakosamangai, stronger efforts must be made to ensure that all devotees receive equal treatment. Measures like queue systems, clear signage, structured complaint channels, and dedicated volunteers could help improve the experience. Above all, addressing unethical behavior among temple staff is vital to restoring trust and respect in the temple environment. Despite these modern flaws, the Uthirakosamangai Temple continues to captivate the hearts of those who seek divine connection, artistic beauty, and cultural depth. Its legacy is profound, and its potential to inspire devotion remains untarnished if only the values of fairness and humility are upheld alongside tradition.

That positive energy when you're entering into temple... Wow... This is the first shivan temple which is constructed. And one of the oldest trees is here that is 3000 years old
Mukilan K — Google review
It is one of the most important Shiv temples of Bharat. It is believed that it is the first Shiv temple of the world. Another important aspect is the huge Nataraj vigrah which is housed in a separate sanctum. It is wonderful. It is difficult to imagine how an intricate one piece idol from Emerald would have sculpted. This idol is covered with sandal throughout the year. Only once in a year during arudra darshan festival in Nov Dec the old chandan is removed and new chandan is coated. At that time only one can see the uncoated form of Nataraj. The temple has beautiful colourful gopuram. There is quite a hustle outside temple with shops and parking space. Interiors of the temple are painted well.

A Spiritually Enriching Visit to One of the Oldest Shiva Temples – Uthirakosamangai This was our first visit to Uthirakosamangai Temple, and it was truly a spiritually fulfilling experience. We had been planning to visit this ancient temple for several months, and fortunately, a couple of days’ break gave us the perfect opportunity to finally make the trip. Also known as Mangalanatha Swamy Temple, this historic site is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is located in Ramanathapuram district, Tamil Nadu. It is believed to be one of the earliest Shiva temples in existence, rich in history, legends, and deep spiritual energy. One of the temple's main attractions is the 6-foot-tall Maragatha Nataraja idol, carved entirely out of emerald (maragatham)—a truly rare and priceless representation of Lord Shiva in his cosmic dance form. Most of the year, this sacred idol is kept covered in sandalwood paste, and it is revealed to the public only once a year during the Arudra Darshan festival. The temple is also associated with a unique and powerful lingam called the Sahasralingam—a representation of 1000 lingams in one single structure, created as a tribute to 999 sages who, according to legend, offered their lives in devotion to Lord Shiva. A Glimpse into the Temple’s Mythology According to temple lore, Lord Shiva once appeared in Ravana’s palace as a child with a small wound. When Ravana tried to pick up the child, a fireball emerged from the temple pond (Agni Theertham). Fearing it was Shiva's wrath, 999 sages sacrificed themselves by jumping into the fire. One sage stayed back to protect the sacred scriptures, and Shiva, pleased with his devotion, appeared as the Sahasralingam. That lone sage is believed to have been reborn as the revered saint Manikkavacakar, who also has a special lingam dedicated to him within the temple. The temple’s name, Uthirakosamangai, signifies the place where Lord Shiva shared sacred knowledge with Goddess Parvati, making it an important center for both devotion and divine wisdom. Our Experience We visited the temple in the evening, and since the temple had recently undergone Kumbhabhishekam (consecration ceremony), it was quite crowded with devotees from nearby towns and villages. Despite the crowd, the experience was serene and well-organized. We could still see the Yaga Kundams (ritual fire altars) used during the ceremony, which added to the divine atmosphere. A highlight of our visit was seeing the ancient 3000-year-old Jujube (Elanthai) tree, which is believed to hold spiritual significance. This temple is also said to grant moksha (spiritual liberation) to 1000 Shiva devotees, further reinforcing its importance in Hindu belief and worship. Final Thoughts This temple is not just a place of worship—it’s a treasure trove of history, mythology, and divine presence. The architecture, the legends, and the spiritual ambiance make it a must-visit for Shiva devotees and anyone interested in ancient temples of India. If you're in or around Ramanathapuram, or planning a trip to southern Tamil Nadu, I highly recommend visiting Uthirakosamangai. Do try to go early or during non-peak hours if possible, especially after major temple festivals, to enjoy a more peaceful darshan. Om Namah Shivaya 🙏🏼

Sri Sethu Bandana Jayaveera Anjineyar Temple, Sethukkarai is on the sea shore near Ramanathapuram about 4 kms from Thirupullani Divya Desam. Connected to Ramayana events , it is believed Lord Rama accepted Vibhishan (brother of Ravana) to his side in this place. Rama Sethu, the bridge to Lanka was believed to be built from here with help of Hanuman and vanara sena. Devotees take holy dip in the sea just opposite to this temple. Sri Hanuman deity in the sanctum of this small temple.

This famous but small temple is located about 5 kms from the famous divya desham Thirupullani Adi Jagannadhar temple, on sea shore. According to devotees, this is where Lord Rama'e vanara sena start building the Rama sethu (bridge) with stones. Generally the waves/ tide is high here. The sethu stones could not be seen. The cleanliness is quite bad as devotees don't bother about it (they throw lots of litter atound). The changing room and toilets are in pathetic condition. The temple is not maintained that well. The sea appears quite majestic and mysterious from the shore.

In Hinduism, the immersion of ashes (Asthi Visarjanam) after cremation is a sacred ritual tied to the belief in the soul's liberation (moksha) and its journey beyond the physical body. The most significant sites for this practice are holy rivers and sacred water bodies, believed to purify the soul and help it transition to the afterlife. Sethukarai Connection While Sethukarai (the "shore of Rama’s bridge") near Thirupullanni is primarily associated with Lord Rama’s quest to Lanka and the sacred Sethu Snanam ritual, it is not traditionally a primary site for ash immersion. However, its proximity to Rameswaram and the belief in the sanctity of its coastal waters mean some devotees *may* perform rituals here, especially if tied to vows or local customs. Significance: The act of immersing ashes symbolizes returning the physical body to the elements and releasing the soul to merge with the divine. Sacred waters are believed to carry the blessings of deities like Vishnu, Shiva, or Ganga Devi, aiding the soul’s journey to pitr loka (ancestral realm) or ultimate liberation.

Devipattinam Navagraha Temple

Hindu temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
It is an interesting temple and one of its kind. It has no building. There are 9 idols of 9 Navgrah which installed in the waist deep sea water by Bhagwan Ram himself. These Navgrah are made of navpashanam. However due to erosion there are no visible features left. The vigrahs just look like stump of stones. At time of high tide only 5 Grahs are visible and remaining are submerged. However at high tide also the water is waist deep only. This place is known for parihar of various astrological dosha such as Navgrah shanti, Brahmhatya dosh etc. Rate chart for every parihar is place at entrance. The Navgrah are surrounded by an open gallery type structure all around from where one can view Navgrah on inside and sea view on outside. The parking is available.

Visited the Devipattinam Navagraha (Navapashanam) Temple, which is located in the sea.. a truly unique and peaceful place. The temple doesn’t have a building…instead, the nine Navagraha stones are set right in the water and are believed to have been installed by Lord Rama himself before he went to Lanka, after performing a pooja here. You usually walk through the shallow water to see them, but during our visit, due to high tide, no one was allowed to go inside as the water level was high. Those who experience it say it feels very special and spiritual. It’s calm, quiet, and gives a unique, relaxed feeling by the seashore. Parking is available (₹40), and you can complete the darshan in about 15–20 minutes. Definitely a must-visit spot near Rameswaram for its unique setting and spiritual energy.

Navagraha temple, situated inside sea. Walkway is provided. In high tide times Vigrahas are not visible. Many 'parihara' poojas are done here. It is 15 km from Ramanathapuram town. Bus transportation is also available. Worth visiting. It is different.

Visited the Devipattinam Navagraha (Navapashanam) Temple was a truly unique experience 🌊🙏 — unlike any other temple I’ve seen. The nine planetary stones are set right in the sea, and walking through the shallow waters to reach them gives a magical feeling ✨ if you're spiritual. Locals believe Lord Rama himself installed these stones before going to Lanka, and you can really feel that spiritual energy here. It’s especially beautiful in the morning when the tide is low 🌅. Just be ready to get your feet wet, and soak in the mix of mythology, nature, and devotion — a must-visit if you’re exploring around Ramanathapuram or Rameswaram 🛕💙. I had a relaxed feel being on the sea shore at a quiet place.

This was the first temple I saw only with the Navagraham. I shocked. At present it has only 5 out of 9 navagraha statues. It was a blissful place with sea breeze. Great view. I liked it.
Kamalesh A — Google review
It's connected to Ramayana period, where it's a belief that the Navagraha was made and workshipped by Lord Rama. It's beautiful located in the sea shore

Kushi Beach Resort is a large, tranquil white-sand beach destination offering a calm swimming environment. The resort provides spacious air-conditioned rooms with dining areas, bathrooms, hot water, and TVs. Guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast during their stay. Although the resort does not have its own beach, it is located near Ariyaman Beach where visitors can take leisurely strolls or swim in the less deep waters suitable even for young children.
It is an excellent beach resort. Just 50 metres from the beach. The resort has entertainment too Rooms are elegant and covered entirely by wood. Actually this cottage has four beds too. Innovatively, the TV is located in a separate annexe without disturbing the persons occupied the bed. The restaurant is too good in a thatched shed under the shadow of trees. Excellent ambience. In Ramnad, no other entertainment except this resort. Swimming pool is very big and we can go for a deep swim. The water falls is also there and children would love it. The room is designed round and covered by wood. Very nice . For a functions, it is a good place for conduct in a open lawn and umbrella type dinings are aso there. Room rent is affordable. Good place to spend with the family.

The location of the resort is excellent, close to the Ariyaman Beach. However, the overall maintenance of the property is quite poor. The swimming pool was dirty, and the mini waterfalls were surrounded by an unclean environment. The garden area also lacked proper upkeep. While the food served was decent, the dining and common areas were not well-maintained. The kids' play area had broken rides, making it unsafe and unappealing for children. On a positive note, Mr. Iyappa was very courteous and took good care of us. He even offered small gifts to our kids, which we appreciated. The pricing was reasonable, but the resort desperately needs better maintenance to match its potential and location.

Rooms are very Poor Maintenance, Towel only given. located Bank of Ariyaman Beach, great Ambience. Free usage of Swimming pool. Hotel service is available within resort. Car Parking available, children’s park and landscape was good. Busy tourism spot.
Suresh D — Google review
The rooms are quite different, designed with a nature-based theme. There's a bit of sand and a mild smell, but overall they’re good for staying. The swimming pool and water park are enjoyable, while the food is of average taste

After dhanushakodi, this is the most famous beach in rameshwaram. You can reach here with your car. Highly recommended. You can enjoy a meal at kadal virundhu family sea food restaurant. They serve authentic sea food. Must try their combo.

Krusadai Island near Rameshwaram is truly a sight to behold, even if you don’t actually step onto it. During our visit, we couldn’t manage to reach the island due to lack of time, but the view itself was absolutely breathtaking. The vast stretch of the blue sea glistening under the sunlight was picture-perfect, and the calmness of the surroundings added to its charm. One of the highlights for us was capturing beautiful photos of the serene waters and the rustic wooden bridge, which gave the entire scene a postcard-like feel. The contrast of the deep blue sea with the earthy tones of the bridge was simply mesmerizing and made the experience unforgettable. Krusadai Island is known for its rich marine biodiversity, coral reefs, and unique ecosystem, often described as a paradise for researchers and nature enthusiasts. While we could only admire it from a distance this time, it was easy to imagine the abundance of natural beauty that awaits on the island itself. Just the view was enough to make us feel refreshed and more connected to nature. Although we missed setting foot on the island, the experience of soaking in its surroundings, photographing the sea and the bridge, and feeling the peaceful aura made it a highlight of our trip. We are already looking forward to returning and exploring it more closely next time.

Worth visiting. Boating @ 300per head. Team will take you to the island in a boat and a small walk around throughout the island.Later they will drop you back to the pick up location. Round trip takes around 1.5 hrs( depends on boat availability)The shining blue ocean all around makes it a must visit spot during your Rameswaram Dhanushkodi trip. Boating starts @8am and closes around 2PM. But this timing depends on wether conditions and boat availability as well.We couldn't make it on the first day of our trip as the boat was under repair. So we visited again the very next day around 8.30 am for boating. Only one boat was available on that day(02Nov 2024)and hence there was a waiting oeriod to reach back as the single boat has to shuttle around.

Best place for study trip nd field visit.can able to see lots of corals and several marine species.they won't allow you to collect any species or corals from there. Proper care and maintenance was undertaken.people who work there are really helpful and they take care of the corals with their life.Everyone should visit this place once in life time.
Suryaa M — Google review
It's one of the Coral Island of India and it's now a restricted place. Reason being the behaviour of humans towards nature. However, it's one of the most beautiful and amazing places in India. One can see live coral reef here, flourish in its own environment, with minimal to no human interference. Nowerdays, These island are mostly visited for study purpose only. Along with corals there are many marine species present here which have been well preserved. Visiting these island is an honor in itself. Ideal field visit location for Geology, Marine, Fisheries and Environmental Students.

Villoondi Theertham

Nature & Parks
Villoondi Theertham is a serene and spiritual beachfront in Rameswaram, known for its wide sandy expanse, clear waters, and a revered freshwater spring. This hidden gem is one of the 64 sacred water bodies in the area and offers a peaceful escape from the usual tourist spots. While accessibility can be a challenge, the breathtaking views and unique history make it worth the visit.
Villondi Theertham, located around 6 kilometers from the Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram, is one of the most revered theerthams (sacred water bodies) associated with the Ramayana. The name “Villondi” translates to “buried bow,” and according to legend, this is the very spot where Lord Rama plunged his bow into the ground to draw fresh water for his consort, Goddess Sita, who was thirsty during their return from Lanka. Remarkably, even today, amidst the salty waters of the sea, the theertham yields fresh water, a phenomenon that continues to amaze devotees and visitors. This site holds deep spiritual significance. Pilgrims believe that taking a dip in Villondi Theertham absolves sins and brings blessings of good health and prosperity. It is also considered sacred for performing ancestral rites and rituals. The calmness of the location, combined with its mythological importance, makes it a peaceful stop during a Rameswaram tour. Apart from its religious value, Villondi Theertham is also known for its natural beauty. The serene stretch of beach, clear waters, and tranquil surroundings create a soothing atmosphere, ideal for quiet reflection. Visitors often find the spot less crowded compared to other theerthams, making it a hidden gem for those seeking both spirituality and solitude. Easily accessible by road, Villondi Theertham is best visited in the morning or evening to enjoy the cool breeze and peaceful ambiance. For pilgrims and travelers alike, it is a place that beautifully blends mythology, faith, and nature’s charm.

Villoondi Theertham - A Sacred Spot with a Divine Legend. Legend says Lord Ram shot an arrow into the sea to provide fresh water for Sita, and that spot became Villoondi Theertham. This unique mid-sea well still holds sweet water, a natural marvel symbolizing the island’s divinity. With a nearby Shiva temple and Hanuman shrine, it’s a peaceful and must-visit place in Rameswaram.
Banty S — Google review
Villoondi Teertham is a peaceful and spiritually significant spot located a short drive from the Ramanathaswamy Temple. According to legend, this is the place where Lord Rama shot an arrow into the sea to bring fresh water for Sita — and even today, there’s a freshwater spring just a few steps from the salty ocean, which makes the spot feel truly miraculous. The location is calm and scenic, perfect for those seeking quiet moments away from the temple crowds. The sea view is beautiful, especially during sunset, and the gentle breeze adds to the serene atmosphere. However, facilities around the area are limited — there aren’t many shops or restrooms nearby, and the road leading there can be a bit rough in parts. Still, it’s a must-visit for its mythological importance and tranquil natural beauty. If you’re in Rameswaram, Villoondi Teertham is a wonderful place to pause, reflect, and enjoy the divine calmness that surrounds it.

Villoondi Theertham in Rameshwaram is a truly divine and serene spot that left us with beautiful memories. Located a short distance from the main temple, this sacred site is not only historically significant but also incredibly scenic. We had the chance to visit, spend some quiet time, and capture lovely photos of the calm blue sea blending seamlessly with the horizon. The long stretch of water, the soothing breeze, and the spiritual aura of the place made it a peaceful escape away from the crowd. The surroundings are simple yet carry a deep sense of sanctity that can be felt instantly. One of the most unique experiences here was tasting the well water right by the shore. It is said to hold religious significance and is surprisingly fresh despite being so close to the sea. The story behind it, linked to Lord Rama, makes the experience even more special, as it connects visitors to the legends of the Ramayana. Drinking the sweet well water while standing beside the vast salty ocean truly felt like a miracle of nature. We took plenty of photos to capture the essence of Villoondi Theertham—the calm waves, the quiet coastline, and the little moments of peace it offered. Overall, the visit was not only spiritually uplifting but also visually enchanting. It’s definitely a must-visit spot in Rameshwaram for both devotees and travelers alike.

Divine exp . You should not miss this place if coming to rameshwaram. Its in outer area known as thangachimadam. The place in the middle of sea where you get sweet water for drinking . Thts the wonder in itself . The origin of this place is from ramayana times when lord Rama hit this point with his arrow and got the source of freah water in the middle of the sea to quench the thirst of Sita Ji .
