Every wine here is so intriguing and high quality. Bec is an amazing host and is very informative. The tasting takes place in an 18th century cottage (we chose to sit outside) and the scenery and ambience is soothing and relaxing. I really enjoyed the Riesling and the late harvest Semillon the most. The border collies are very friendly, one raced up to our car and greeted me before I stepped out. Best winery we went to in Eden Valley.
Karl C — Google review
Beautiful spot to visit. Bec was a great host with a wealth of information about wine. She took us through the elements of wine blending and then we were able to experiment and make our own blend. Highly recommend this experience, you make your own wine and take a bottle of it home!!! Lovely tasting wines. Thankyou to Bec!
Rusty L — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous winery experience!! Came here with my best friend to do the chocolate and wine pairing. It was an intimate, exciting, fun and creative 2 hours with one of the winery owners. Well worth the cost and both the chocolate and wine were incredible. Highly recommend!!! Plus there is a cute dog!
Lucy B — Google review
We had a lovely time here making chocolate and tasting some good wine. Bec was a great host. Being a cold day it was nice doing this next to a log fire. My chocolate that I took home didn’t last long - but it was delicious.
Chris R — Google review
Nice wines, especially the VP fortified. Such a quiet, quaint setting, and friendly dog. A very pleasant contrast to the bigger cellar doors in the Barossa itself. Worth the extra 15min drive.
Gr8zy F — Google review
Very nice husband and wife team that love what they do and make nice wine. Wine is not wholesaled, but is only available through their cellar door and mailing list. Well worth a visit.
Frankie B — Google review
We did the paired chocolate and wine tasting as a group of 6. It was a lovely venue and great host. The chocolates were very nice, home made and, with a great deal of thought into the recipe for each to match the selected wine which were also great. Unfortunately they only sell chocolate with wine on special occasions, signed up for the mailing list in anticipation. Worth the time to experience a smaller family operated vineyard.
Steve J — Google review
On arrival we were greeted most enthusiastically by Bandit, the gorgeous resident border collie. A really nice start to what would be a great afternoon. I highly recommend the wine blending experience, Bec provides an excellent explanation of their wines and the associated processes. The winery is in a beautiful location but be sure to book. We left with much more knowledge plus a bottle of our very own labelled blend of wine.

Historic Herbig Tree

Very cool tree and history. Was fun to stop on our day out.
Tom K — Google review
What an absolutely bonus to see this tree on the way to Dimboola. To think people actually lived in it, and it being so old and the concerns that would come from it.
Robert O — Google review
What an amazing story/place. 5 years living in the hollowed out tree trunk. Presumably, the tree was in a bit better shape than it is now, but their was a cold breeze blowing through there when we visited. Great story boards in the tree. They had 18 children!!!
Gary C — Google review
The history behind it is amazing. Still wondering how they lived in it. There’s nothing much to see after that. So, from Adelaide, if you plan to continue on from the tree, it’s worth it, otherwise it’s just too long a trip. There should be some more touristic things to do. Not a single person in sight.
L M — Google review
A 500 years old tree, you must see it! Firstly used as a shelter for aboriginal people, this tree became famous after Herbig family used it as a house. This hollow tree trunk provided a 'home' for Friedrich and Caroline Herbig and two of their 16 children until 1860 at Springton. Historic Herbig Tree is located on the main road in Springton, situated in the eastern Barossa Valley, about 60 kilometres north east of Adelaide.
Erivan — Google review
The Herbig Tree! An intriguing place to visit while in Barossa Valley in South Australia. Between 300 to 500 years old and in Springton not too far from Angastan. I have been advised by locals in Tanunda a family lived in this tree. This is located near the road side, 10 meters away.
Reshy S — Google review
Magnificent! The tree is an estimated 300 to 500 years old. It is well worth the visit, but only if you are passing by.
Trevene L — Google review
It must've been really hard for a family of four to live in this 500-year-old tree, which was hollowed by a lightning strike. Shows the resilience of early European settlers.

Mannum Dock Museum of River History exceeded my expectations. There were so many interesting exhibitions full of history. We were there for about 2 hours. I went with my kids aged 8 and 7, they especially loved the interactive museum where they got to sound the whistle, steer the giant wheel and so much more. The PS Marion house Puddle Steamer was fun to explore seeing the cabins that people slept in and the kids were surprised to learn that people used to smoke inside smoke rooms. The kids and I played a game where we found items that had been improved/changed over the years. For example the steel iron has now changed to electric irons.

This is small but well set out, you don’t have to be an historian to appreciate how things were.
Keith W — Google review
Lots of interesting suveneers and books about the river and the people who have lived all their lives near the river. Also a lot about the 1956 flood.Another is to see the dock itself and all the Pelicans etc wating just below the dock all redy to catch and feed on fish which come through. I've included a picture of the dock.If you bring it up large the Pelicans can be seen. The second photo is the ferry crossing the river at Walkers Flat not far from Mannum.
Ralph F — Google review
We were blessed enough to go for a tour on the "Marion" paddle steamer today. The people at the centre were so lovely and helpful. Definitely a must do if you are in Mannum for the day.
Gideon D — Google review
Friendly team and amazingly helpful with plenty of local knowledge. Great museum and of course that beautiful Paddle steamer The Marion and the Mayflower
Gail P — Google review
Typical of this lovely town! Pleasure to be here!
Dawn V — Google review
Pwrfect to spend time with the grandchildren and catch up the local river history. The museum is 2 floors of interactive displays. The kids loved it. The noise was all part of the experience. They particularly love it when we went out to the backyard and they climbed on board the PSMarion and checked out the wheelhouse and some rooms were open for us to check out. We could even go inside a cabin to see the accommodation! There was so much more to see and do here, you will really have to see for yourselves.
Meerilyn S — Google review
We looked through the inside part of the museum, it was all very interesting we only got a short time we got there a bit late. Would definitely come back again earlier to have a better look around. 🙂

Beautiful views of the Murray, great place to have picnics and bbqs. Lots of sculptures and mosaic artwork.

This location in Mannum, South Australia is where we board the Murray Princess paddle wheel boat on our holiday up river. The park is open to the public and has seating and some covered areas. With the large River Red Gums providing shade it appears to be a very pleasant place to visit and enjoy the Riverside or a picnic.
Mark T — Google review
Well maintained little park on the banks of our mighty river. Tables seats and BBQ facilities all available with plenty of parking. Good little roped off spot for kids to swim with rope swing into the river. Big open spaces with well kept grassed areas ideal for picnics, outdoor activities and BBQs
Geordie M — Google review
Fantastic overnight stay on the Murray. $10 paid by card at machine by the clean toilet facilities. Nice clean area, unfortunately too many people are clearly feeding the native birds and were hounded by noisy miners trying steal our food 🤷. Don't do it, it's not fair on them or anyone else. This place is dog friendly
Jodi A — Google review
We enjoyed our day in the park we got to see vintage car and bike rally as they stopped here while we waited to board the Murry Princess

Fantastic waterfront park with plenty of shade! BBQ available, which was clean. Plenty of toilets, also very clean,, cleanest public toilets I've seen in a while!! Very large grassed area for a hit of the hockey ball or some 'backyard cricket' and a couple of nice little playgrounds.

Monarto Safari Park

Wildlife and safari park
Zoos & Aquariums
Zoo
Open-range zoo featuring animals like cheetahs, lions, giraffes & rhinos, with hands-on experiences.
Loved it! A great experience for young and old alike, lots of choices depending on your level of fitness from either walking the entire 15 odd kilometres of walking trails to just sitting on the 1.5hour tour buses that continually traverse the park, or you can get off at viewing platforms of your choice to see things at your own pace. Definitely going pay extra to see the lion feeding at dusk tour next time around! The visitors center is awesome too with lots to see.
Daniel M — Google review
I recently visited Monarto Safari Park with my family, and it was an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. The park is extremely well organised, clean, and visitor friendly. A big plus is the frequent bus service that goes around the park (every 10 minutes), which makes getting between enclosures very easy and relaxing especially with kids. The buses let you hop on and off, so you can take your time at each stop without feeling rushed. During our visit we saw a fantastic variety of animals: lions, giraffes, rhinos, cheetahs, chimpanzees, elephants and many others. The open-range habitats are stunning; many of the animals have large, naturalistic spaces to roam, which adds so much to the authenticity and joy of the safari feeling. We also appreciated the viewing platforms and well-designed stops where you can get closer looks without disturbing the animals. The staff are outstanding friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic. They gladly answered questions, explained things about the animals and conservation efforts, which made the day both fun and educational. For families, this place is ideal: there are paths, walks, and plenty of opportunities for children to learn and enjoy. All in all, Monarto Safari Park is very well organised, offers great value, and delivers memorable moments. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a full day outing whether with kids, friends or just by yourself. It’s definitely one of the best wildlife experiences in South Australia. 🇦🇺 💙

Went in on my yearly zoo pass and took some amazing photos. Spent the entire day there and the staff are very helpful one girl who drives the buses is very knowledgeable and let's you feel the personal story of the animals, the kids loved her. I believe her name was Lindsay, say hi to her and commend her great work. The volunteers are very supportive to this amazing park. There's a hotel on site and your able to stay and try the packages to get up and close with the Cat's and other animals. Its worth the trip with the family.

Great for all ages! They provide free loop bus to bring us around animals' habitat for close up view withing the park! Monarto Safari Park is Huge! 14 kilometers walking trails can easily be covered by bus! 1 full round trip bus takes about 1.5hrs with tour guide explaining on board. Its truely an amazing experience!
Rainbow F — Google review
Amazing day, the 360 lion experience was fantastic. We had wheel chairs so was a bit limited to where we could go but the 1 & half hour coach trip around the park was great. Perfect weather 18 degrees so most of the animals were out and about.
Helen S — Google review
Visiting the safari zoo was a special experience. It’s definitely better to stay on the tour bus rather than walk, as the visitor platforms aren’t very convenient for spotting animals. The zoo can also be quite windy and cold, so be prepared!
Yue Z — Google review
I had such a great day at Monarto, the drivers of the bus have such good knowledge of the animals and interesting facts about the park. We then stayed at the new resort and it was incredible. I would love to stay there again. We stayed in one of the waterhole view rooms, and saw the giraffes and zebras coming to eat and drink, it was amazing to see from a hotel room. My partner proposed on the balcony looking over the waterhole and it was so perfect and magical.

I recently had the pleasure of taking a cruise on the Captain Proud Paddle Boat along the Murray River, and it was a wonderful experience! The boat itself has a unique charm with its vintage paddle wheel design, capturing the essence of the river’s rich history. The scenic views were breathtaking, showcasing lush landscapes and wildlife along the riverbanks. The crew was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, offering insights into the history of the area, which made the journey even more engaging. The onboard meal was delicious, featuring fresh, local ingredients that highlighted the region’s flavors. I highly recommend the Captain Proud Paddle Boat cruise to anyone visiting the area. It’s an experience that combines history, nature, and relaxation in the best way possible!

This cruise is fantastic value for money, especially if you’re using their special offers/cheap Tuesday deal. Lunch was good and the menu was surprisingly big considering the kitchen must be rather small. Servings were generous. Enjoyed a lovely, peaceful 3-hour cruise up and down the Murray river seeing the scenery and all kinds of birds. I’ve never seen so many pelicans! The boat seemed to be at less than half capacity on a sunny Sunday in June, so you might get lucky with lots of space to spread out in winter!
Laura — Google review
Captain did a great job. Boat itself is very tired..would be great after a reno...bathrooms unacceptable. It chuffed along the river without any problems. Meal served, (2 courses) quite surprising considering it was prepared on board in galley kitchen. Bar served drinks, including coffee or tea if you wanted it...but was not included. All in all a good experience and one we should support. Quiet day meant boat could go down stream, which is apparently more interesting.
Pauline O — Google review
The Mother’s Day cruise was an excellent way to spend time with family; the specialty 3 course menu was filling and delicious, the local artists looked after us with all the biggest hits across a variety of different genres and the dazzling lights amongst the sunset made for a beautiful scenery. The crew have outdone themselves x

We had a great trip up and down the river. Lunch was excellent and the information provided along the way was informative. Recommended for anyone wanting to experience a paddle boat in close proximity to Adelaide.
Andrew J — Google review
Captain Josh and his staff were brilliant. Josh had fair bit of good knowledge of river. Scones and drinks were delicious
Elaine B — Google review
Went on Burlesque cruise, entertainment was very good table companions were great but the food was substandard. Main course choice of lamb shanks or vegeterian salad I was told no choice left you had to have salad. The "salad" was horrible spinache leaves with boiled carrots and pumpkin asparagas houllumi no dressing. So bad I could not eat it. $130 person be ware. Why dont Cpt Proud request preselection of food when booking to avoid disappointment. Won't be back.

There can’t be many better places to embark on a trip along the Murray River than Murray Bridge. On a lazy cruise you can appreciate the big skies and full grandeur of the Murray’s lower reaches, as well as the raw natural scenery on the banks. The local operator is Captain Proud Paddle Boat Cruises, which has a period-style vessel with a fully-stocked bar, departing seven days a week from the Main Wharf. There’s a whole range of packages to choose from, including breakfast, lunch, dinner or live music cruises, or special discounted trips on “Cheap Tuesday”. Most trips set a course for the stretch around Mannum, where the river is lined with sensational golden cliffs. There will be an informative commentary and if you want you can find out what it’s like to steer a paddle boat.

Just spent a fabulous overnight stay at Angas Plains Wines for a birthday. Warm, welcoming hosts, charming, cosy accommodation and an overall excellent experience. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you both for making us feel so welcome. ⭐️

Got the opportunity to visit this beautiful winery with the State Voucher Scheme. It was an amazing experience tasting the wines and eating food and exploring the area. Staff was superb! Wine tasting was very generous and pizzas were so so delicious, honestly one of the best lamb yiros pizza I have had ever. We shopped the wine range at the bar afterwards and the prices were reasonable. Overall a fantastic experience and will highly recommend it.

Visited this venue today. It has a large enclosed outdoor eating area with heating and lots of tables and chairs. We didnt taste any wines today, but we enjoyed a hot drink and some desserts which were absolutely delicious while looking out over the vineyard. The staff were friendly even during busy times. There is plenty of free onsite parking available. Im glad we stopped and visited here today.

The Winery Cellar Door 317 Angas Plains Rd, situated in the Langhorne Creek wine area, is a must visit. The winery has won some prodigious awards, Cellar Door with Best Foods, Australia’s Best Cellar Door, Cellar Door with Best Food Langhorne Creek. We were seated in an undercover purpose built alfresco, this is a very large area with great views over the vinyard and Plains. We enjoyed from a very good menu, two large homebaked steak pies, with salad and fries. Our choice of wines from the wine list was a sparkling chardonnary, mixed Sauvignon Blanc, and a very soft pleasant tasting smooth 2009 Emily Cross Shiraz. We found the service excellent and informative. Totally a very relaxing Australia Day experience. Accomodation is available on request. Highly recommended.

Very friendly and helpful service. The menu had a good range of items and quite a few pizzas. The greek lamb pizza was really good, nice and soft so it was easy to cut with lovely tasting ingredients. The pie of the day was delicious with a lovely gourmet sauce. Quite a lot of tables but pretty popular being the weekend so it would be best to book, particularly for a larger group. The toilet facilities were very good with a couple indoors and another one outside. Plenty of parking. Good signage for the winery thankfully as it would be a bit tricky without that. Google gives the correct directions though.

Wine tastings, share plates and pizza in a restored 1866 barn with stone walls and a mezzanine.
Simply stunning winery and cellar door you could swear you were in Tuscany. Beautiful wood fired GF pizza and bre and jam standard base pizza. The wines were delicious and for us the Selkirk Shiraz was the take home winner. Great team very knowledgeable and warm! Kevin

Food, wine and staff were amazing. The warmth you feel upon arrival is next level & the service is second to none. The facilities are at the highest standard and such a beautiful setting. Thank you for kicking off our girls trip on such a high 💗

Visiting Bremerton is a fabulous way to spend an afternoon. We started our time there with a tasting. Rach was a brilliant host and made the tasting interesting and fun. Honestly, I could have bought a bottle of every wine I tasted. They were all amazing. After the tasting we moved into the dining area for lunch. The outdoor area looks incredible and it would be a brilliant place to spend a warm afternoon. Unfortunately the weather was against us, so we opted to eat inside. The atmosphere in the dining area is wonderful and the art on the walls provides an interesting backdrop. Our food was delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend a visit to Bremerton and I will definitely be going back.

Visited Bremerton in search of a good local wine and definitely found it here! To our surprise they offer a complimentary wine-tasting in which you can choose 6 wines from the menu to try. During that Brad was super helpful and told us so many facts & information about the different wines we tasted. Very friendly atmosphere 💯 Maybe try to avoid the peak hours for a bit more personalized experience 💪🏼 (as it seemed like getting quite busy when we left) Very recommendable, especially if you don't have much experience with wines! 🍷
Johannes — Google review
There were Dozens of wines are available for tastings at no charge and then we went and had lunch which was amazing value we ordered a pizza 9 inch with two glasses of wine for $38. We then left after purchasing three wines to take home fantastic customer service explanation of the wines What an under bay appreciated wine region and superb Bremerton wines. Also Our pizza order was forgotten but they came back and looked after us with complimentary wines. We were so impressed by their professionalism and looking after us. The pizza was basic but not gourmet with what tasted dnd looked like a commercially made pizza base. But once again it was great value.. but we do highly recommend this place.

We were lucky to get a table without making a reservation this time round. 2nd time here with the first time doing the Gin Flight... one of the better distilleries in the region. This time we gone through the wine tasting. Jayden was an absolute gem with extensive knowledge on the winelist who provided us lots of details and insights... Had the Mediterranean platter with Mediterranean pizza and Mushroom pizza. Love the overall experience and glad that we lived 40 minutes away...

Exceptional venue. Elegant country atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and impeccable food and service. This was a special occasion, being my friend's birthday celebration & it did not disappoint. The three of us dined in for lunch on a chilly winter Sunday, but the warm fire & friendliness of staff had us feeling toasty warm and amongst friends. We were so impressed & delighted by the Chefs Degustation selection. It was faultless in presentation and deliciousness 😋 HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We will be back!

What an ambience, beautifully set in a lovely vineyard. Staff were extre accommodating and made our experience ask the better. The food was beautiful as to the wine and for me specially the tawny. If you go you must try the affogato, the home made icecream sets it to another level.

I took my partner for a early birthday surprise lunch. We had such a lovely experience at Lake Breeze Wines! The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the food was absolutely delicious, and the wines were fantastic. Such a tranquil spot with beautiful surroundings — we even had a lovely chat about the history of the vines, which made the visit feel extra special. The atmosphere was relaxing, and we honestly can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!l

We fell in love with Lake Breeze as our wedding venue the moment we arrived and that was just reinforced by the incredible, welcoming service we were provided by Ash, Georgia & the team. Not only are the gardens immaculate, but the purpose built function room was the perfect setting for the meal time and following party we dreamed of. Even the bathrooms are beautiful! Every time we visited the venue for any reason, we were consistently greeted with genuine warmth no matter who it was in the team. The events team truly know what they're doing, meticulously planning tasting nights to help select our menu, and no idea was off limits when it came to styling for our unique day. The most important thing for us was that our guests had a great time and thanks to Lake Breeze, this was a given. Overall we are thrilled with Lake Breeze as a reception venue and we couldn't recommend them highly enough!

We visited to purchase Kangaroo Island one day tour tickets. This was just on closing time. The assistant was very helpful in arranging our trip, well into after hours.

Friendly and helpful service. We picked up a few good suggestions for where to swim and where to eat, but we also really loved the self guided walking tours around goolwa that have been developed to showcase the history of the town. Would recommend making time to do each one. They are gentle walks.

Friendly and extremely helpful staff, they sure know the area and are passionate. I was given so many ideas, where to visit, what to see and best spots for a meal, and it was really personalized for our family interests not just the stock standard information. One of the best beers I've had in a long, long time in the English IPA. Absolutely delicious from the first sip to the last. Whisky tasting also excellent. A must visit for beer and whisky lovers. Gins on offer too. Great location. Not the most kids ftiendly. Didn't try any food and not sure what is on offer if anything at all. Take the left after the Hindmarsh bridge turnoff.

Mostly a distillery now, but still serves beer. Inside you sit around the brewing and distilling equipment. Nice place, nice beer I was impressed that their IPA is an IPA in the traditional sense, strong and bitter. They also have a hop flavour forward pale ale which is excellent

Old Tailem Town Pioneer Village

Sights & Landmarks
Historic Sites
Thoroughly enjoyed this stop as it was a great historic place were you can walk around and see over 100 buildings from Australia’s pioneering past. Incredible to see how well everything has been preserved and that you can walk through so many of the buildings. We spent nearly a couple hours but you could definitely spend more as there is so much to see. Highly recommend!
Renee D — Google review
Old Tailem Town Pioneer Village is an incredible step back in time! The attention to detail in the historical buildings and exhibits is amazing—each one tells a story of life in Australia from the 1800s to the mid-1900s. It's a self-guided tour, which gave us the freedom to explore at our own pace. The kids loved the old schoolhouse and vintage vehicles, and we found the whole experience both educational and fascinating. Definitely worth the visit if you're into history or looking for a unique day out. Just remember to bring cash and your own snacks, as facilities are a bit limited. Highly recommend!
Anish S — Google review
My visit to Old Tailem Town took 2.5 hours to complete, and I didn't dilly dally in the machinery sheds! Imagine! Try 3.5 hours if I had. The presentation of this wonderful walk back in time lacks no detail. The atmosphere as I walked around the precinct pulled me back into my own "early days" of the 1950's, and gave me pause to ponder how fortunate my parents were that their predecessors boarded a ship in 1822 to leave Prussia to proceed to align themselves into such a harsh yet beautiful "new world". Both my parents were born in South Australia, 1909 and 1917. The old Tailem Town experience brings to life so many aspects of "life as it was" that I can't write it all here. I will be definitely be encouraging people I meet as I travel to visit this amazing place. The Squire's family have done, and continue to do, a top job of presenting an accurate and full bodied look into an important part of Australia's historical living conditions and life styles. The strong hot cuppa T made "the modern way with a tea bag"😆 was very much needed and appreciated after my long amble through the old town. The homemade Choc chip and Anzac biccies went down well too! Thank you for continuing to ensure this wonderful place continues to exist.
Valerie — Google review
Expected a few buildings but wow! Was completely amazed at how massive this place is with so many buildings all jam packed with items. They said it took 45 years to get it all in one spot and I'm not surprised! Definitely bigger and better than Flagstaff Hill or Soverign Hill was cheap entry and could easily have spent the whole day there and still not seen it all.
Peta A — Google review
This place was great. I've always driven past and not visited. As a family, we spent 3hrs here, but easily could have spent 5hrs + here. Kids (7,9,11) and adults all enjoyed it thoroughly.
Alex K — Google review
Great place for anyone interested in learning about the history of South Australia and how people lived here in the past. Fully furnished and detailed buildings with lots to see, lots of effort has been put into maintaining the place and preserving the history. Would definitely recommend a visit, no better way to learn about the past than to walk through it!

Points of Interest & Landmarks
This was so much better than we anticipated! The barrage and the history are interesting, but being within a couple of metres of the playful seals was an amazing bonus!
Mike H — Google review
It is open for public access through the gates. There are few large seals lounging and sometimes climbing on the wooden fence. Nearby is a picnic area with nice views. A relaxing place to enjoy a walk and say hello to the wildlife.
Rene K — Google review
The only Barrage open to the public. The car park has plenty of spaces. There is allot of information while walking up to the barrage. Public toilets were not open. At the loch there were Seals taking a rest. It was funny watch the young ones wakeing up the old fellas. There are many birds feeding where the water flows over gates. Well worth a visit folks.
Scott R — Google review
Wanted to get to see the Mouth of the Murray, check out Hindmarsh Island worth a visit, Lucky enough to see the local Seal and a boat coming thru the lock.
Animal L — Google review
If you go for walk on the goowla barrage I went with my brother. Saw a seal which was the highlight of my day.as I've never seen a seal up close .plus the view was beautiful absolutely enjoyed my day out with my brother highly recommend it.
Sarah W — Google review
I really enjoyed visiting the Barrage. Beautifully maintained picnic areas, plenty of picnic tables about overlooking the water. The gates are open everyday from 8am till 4pm. Walking out on the water you won't be disappointed. Seals sunning themselves on the pylons or pilate style swimming about. Plenty of water birds to see and capture. Pelicans, swans, grebes, wood ducks, cormorants, seagulls and if you listen carefully you just may hear the whistling kites before you spot them souring above. Definitely well worth the visit if you are passing through or taking a visit nearby.

Amazing place to see Seals and birdlife Small easy walk

Absolutely loved the atmosphere with beautiful birds but undoubtedly the main and only attract for me was the seals that maintain residence on the barrage sleeping and sun baking on the wooden rails and parts of the barrage. Amazing to watch for hours if your a seal lover this is worth a stop.

The Tailem Info Station and Rail Museum is a charming stop for anyone interested in local history and heritage. Located in the historic railway station in Tailem Bend, this volunteer-run museum provides a fascinating look at the town’s railway past through a collection of well-preserved artifacts and memorabilia. The passionate volunteers are eager to share their knowledge and offer helpful tourism information. In addition to exploring the museum, visitors can browse handcrafted souvenirs, merchandise, and local produce. The welcoming atmosphere and unique historical insights make the Tailem Info Station a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and travelers alike.

The Tailem Bend Information Station is a great place to learn of the rich railway history in the town. It is staffed by volunteers who are keen to share information and stories of the development and unfortunate demise of the railways in the town. Access to the once operational signal cabin is a real treat. If you stop in Tailem Bend, make sure you spend and hour or so in the station museum.
Kevin M — Google review
Fascinating as it has a small museum near the railway station platform as fenced off to prevent anybody from being blown away by speeding trains

We called in to have a quick look at the museum, but came away with a pile of useful travel maps and brochures for the rest of our trip. Spent quite some time just talking about life in the region with the very helpful staff member there. As a result we added another wine region to have a look at (Langhorne Creek) Some fascinating railway info & you can get into the signal box to have a close-up look at the workings there.
Jumper D — Google review
I would like to give it more stars as we drove an hour and half to get here as maps says its open. It''s not open and only open a few days in August. Disappointed.
Bridgette J — Google review
This pretty little railway station is worth the trip out to Tailem Bend. Filled with fascinating history, we were personally guided through by Ray 'Rusty' Bolt and enjoyed every story he told us. It was a great experience to meet someone who started working on the railways in the days of steam. This is a valuable part of South Australian rail history.
Andrew P — Google review
There's not a whole lot to see and do in Talirm Bend itself but the little museum and information Centre at the old train station is a good start. The staff are friendly and helpful and can help you plan your trip to the old town on the outskirts of town. You can't actually catch any trains from this station - but you can watch them pass by.

A big part of Wellingtons history and worth a look around even though the museum side of things is currently being upgraded. Situated on the banks of the Murray river net to the ferry there is a cafe and you can get a Barister type coffee and something to eat. Comfortable and relaxed seating around a small fire pit... Very nice They also offer accommodation and dining in house and will do Christmas parties, weddings etc. The guide on duty when I visited was very welcoming and had plenty of historical information about this site.

On Coach Tour with 56 'seniors' - a cold, windy November day, surprised to have the Dining Room heated by a roaring wood fire, and enjoyed a magnificent Roast Dinner with 'the works' - two superbly cooked meats, with seven vegetables, delicious gravy and a range of condiments & sauces - rated by many on board as "the best Roast ever!" Friendly and efficient staff, with everyone served and 'on our way' in 90 minutes, after time to explore the riverfront and excellent historic Courthouse restoration. Well done, Heather, Allan and chef Dave!!!

Pink Lake

Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
A truly unique natural wonder! Pink Lake is such a beautiful and fascinating stop. The soft pink hue of the water against the white salt edges looks magical, especially on a sunny day. It’s right off the highway with a convenient lookout and parking, so it’s easy to visit even on a road trip. You can walk down close to the lake for amazing photos. The colour can change depending on the weather and season, but it’s still a stunning sight and worth a visit. A peaceful and memorable spot in Victoria!
Rupal P — Google review
Nothing pink to be see. We were on our way from Robe to Adelaide, so we did not deliberately drive there. We would have been disappointed. The lake was completely dried up 3 days before Christmas. But the otherworldly landscape was still worth the stop.
Andreas L — Google review
The Pink Lake is tricky to attempt to get a true to colour image of on a phone camera methinks. My attempts were a fail. I found this place 'along the way' a simple yet interesting one. Being the Winter the pink was not as pronounced as other seasons but there was definitely a glimpse of pink to ponder. Im an artist so a bit of artistic licence will be brought out of my kit as I create 'my version' of how I actually saw it and how I envisioned Pink Lake in other seasons!🩷🧞‍♀️

I visited Pink Lake in Meningie during the holidays, but the water had dried up, so the lake wasn’t pink as shown in the pictures. Even so, the trip was still worth it. The view along the road was amazing – wide open spaces that made me feel small under the big sky. Both sides of the road were full of different plants, with changing colors and shapes. It made the drive interesting and enjoyable, turning the whole journey into a special experience. If you’re nearby, I’d recommend visiting. The lake might not always be pink, but the scenery and peaceful atmosphere make it worth the trip.
Dai T — Google review
came in september 2025 on a cloudy day, no pink lake! ground is solid enough to walk safely without any issues at all but be prepared to clean your shoes after. not worth the mud actually.
Nadya M — Google review
Due to the drought it was dried up. The mud was very slippery so couldnt walk too far. Only a very faint pink tinge in the distance
Emily B — Google review
Visited in late October and It does look pink.. but couldn't find a way to get a closer look as the area didn't seem to have any trail to go have a closer look. Or maybe have a look around you can find one. It's right beside the highway!
Vardhmansinh C — Google review
Well, that was random pink lake. It's pink when the sun hits the water.

Meningie Museum Inc.

Specialty Museums
Well worth a visit. Only $5 (cash) upon entry. Very well maintained and curated. Clean and presented beautifully. Even the 'old bone yard' was clean and well presented. Not covered in dust and spiderwebs, which can be all too often expected in museums of this type. A fabulous collection of pieces that will have everyone over the age of 30 nostalgic for their past. :)
Sharon M — Google review
Fantastic and varied collection A real credit to the organisers Immerse for an hour or more in nostalgia and recollection A must do attraction
Steve M — Google review
This is one of the few cafes in Meningie and it's run by a young couple. Apparently this was a museum and then converted into a cafe. We received great customer service and We loved the rustic interior and exterior. This could be a great venue for a birthday/anniversary party or for an intimate little wedding. If you are planning to host an event (based on the numbers) they'd waive off the venue fee. We stopped here for coffee and the beverages ( including beers and ciders) were really great but the scones were average. Overall great place!
Rush R — Google review
Friendly, chatty and informative staff. Quiet location for a great coffee and views over the lake. Scones were delish' and coffee was spot on. Clean and neat. Plenty of room for the kids to run around in the vacant lot lakeside and stretch their legs.

Great food, perfect spot for coffee or a wine and cheese platter in the garden with sea views, plenty of toys and a sandpit to keep kids occupied.

Good Museum....Worth the 5 bucks entry

I thought this was going to be a boring cheese museum BUT its really a history museum with cool stuff.
Jamie P — Google review
Great country hospitality with food to rival anything in the city. The prices are fantastic and the wine from Langhorne Creek, well what can you say, just great wine. The Coorong Mullet was perfect, generous and the price was a bargain. Just across from the entrance of Lake Albert caravan park rounds out a travel day in the best possible way

It is a hidden gem that offers something for everyone. With its stunning lakefront location and well-maintained facilities, the park is a must-visit destination. The playground is fantastic, catering to children of all ages, while the picnic areas and BBQ facilities provide a great spot for family outings. Nature enthusiasts can explore the walking trails and enjoy the native flora and fauna. The park is clean and well-groomed, with ample bins and restroom facilities.

Right next to the water amd shops acroos the road. Easy access parking along the road for cars and vans alike. Toilets, playground, park all in one handy area. Definately good place to stop. Cheap unmanned fuel available 200m down the road opposite the hardware.Good price for diesel.

Beautiful park by the lake. Within the park there is a children's playground, toilets (separate female, male and disabled), as well as two undercover BBQ areas and plenty of seating. Ideal for a lunch break when travelling to or from the Coorong. It's also right in the centre of town with cafes and bakery within walking distance.
Emmy S — Google review
It’s a great highway stop, especially with kids. There’s tables & chairs; a great playground, a jetty, a fantastic little coffee shop, laundromat and bakery across the street. The toilets were unlocked.
Michelle L — Google review
very nice spot to stop by if you head to Adelaide.
DV E — Google review
Green grass. A lake and public toilets with a picnic table. Across the road from some food shops if you didn't bring your own. Great spot for lunch and a brief walk. Very popular at lunch time. Oodles of pelicans. Boat launching ramp too
Bryan M — Google review
This playground and park is one of the best I have visited. It has a consistent theme in the playground, earthy colours with a brush off blue because of the play boat. Did I mention the play boat? It has a BOAT!!! TO PLAY IN?! That's cool. What's more, lush grass, exercise equipment, plenty of benches to have lunch at and of course bathrooms. The playground has a lot of variety, which is very important. The tower to the slide is very tall so young children who tend to fall should be watched closely when playing. This would be a five if it had an enclosed fence to ensure safety of runaway children or dogs. 4/5 Great place to vibe.

A Must-See Roadside Gem! Absolutely stunning! The Coonalpyn Silo Mural is a beautiful blend of art and community spirit. The sheer scale of the mural is impressive, and the detail in the portraits is incredibly moving. It captures the essence of rural Australia in such a respectful and heartfelt way. Perfect spot to stretch your legs and snap some memorable photos. If you're driving through South Australia, make sure to stop here — it's more than just a mural. It's a story on silos!
Bobby S — Google review
The Coonalpyn Silo Mural is a breathtaking example of how art can transform a small town into a must-visit destination. Situated along the Dukes Highway in South Australia, this massive artwork is an inspiring tribute to community and creativity. The mural, painted by renowned artist Guido van Helten, features larger-than-life portraits of local schoolchildren. The level of detail and the soft, emotive tones used in the artwork are nothing short of extraordinary. It feels as though the mural captures the spirit and future of the town, making it both deeply personal and universally relatable. What makes the Coonalpyn Silo Mural even more special is how accessible it is. Located just off the highway, it’s the perfect spot for a quick stop to stretch your legs and admire this stunning piece of public art. There’s a sense of pride and warmth in the community that surrounds it, and the mural serves as a reminder of the beauty in everyday life. For travelers and art lovers alike, the Coonalpyn Silo Mural is a must-see. It’s not just a painting on a silo; it’s a symbol of connection, creativity, and the power of art to bring people together.

Why not take a moment to admire this beautiful art? A perfect quick stopover with a bathroom available and a local shop just across the road. A great spot to stretch your legs, take in the creativity, and enjoy a brief break before continuing your journey. Definitely worth the stop!

Another Silo Art an my Australian tour and another take on how to do it. The artwork is superb, I still can’t figure it out even though I know technically how it’s done. To see these finished pieces of massive artwork is a pleasure. Not only tall but on a curved surface, great to see! Lots of people had stopped to take photos, a lot went to the bakery too!
Paul S — Google review
Beautiful silo art in this rural SA town. Amble parking and possible to get great pictures from many angles. The bakery down the street serves good coffee and pies, and there's public toilets too. Get here early on weekends before the caravans pulls up. It tends to get a little crowded.

Absolutely beautiful. Made me think about my own grown children. There was a tree blocking a little bit but we just went around it.

Beautifully painted silo. Also the tiles artworks close by are awesome. Some very talented people in town.

This is an amazing piece of art. The details in this mural are amazing. I highly recommend visiting this silo. There's a nice rest area and another community art mural to see. Nice for a stop.

The Big Lobster

$$$$affordable
Sights & Landmarks
Built in 1979, this 17-m. fiberglass-&-steel lobster sculpture is a popular spot for photos.
A Hidden Gem in Kingston Behind the Big Lobster! If you're passing through Kingston, do not miss the charming café tucked just behind the iconic Big Lobster. It's the kind of hidden gem that surprises you in the best way. With plenty of space and a gorgeous green setting, it’s perfect whether you're visiting solo, with a small group, or even a big bunch of friends. The breakfast and brunch options are spot on—fresh, hearty, and full of flavor. And the coffee? Easily some of the best you’ll find on the Limestone Coast. These folks know what they’re doing. What really sets this place apart is the rustic, relaxed vibe—outdoor seating under the trees, a peaceful atmosphere, and genuinely warm service. It’s the ideal stop to recharge and soak in the local charm. Highly recommended. You’ll leave full, caffeinated, and smiling!
Nil P — Google review
The lobster was bigger than a regular lobster. We drove 4 hours to go fishing, but the weather was not as forecast, so we cracked 'em and went exploring a bit instead. The people running the shop were super friendly and chatty and shared some history about the town and photos displayed, along with some good local fishing spots. She did a nice coffee, but the sausage roll had been sitting in the warmer for a bit too long (I should've got a pasty instead, maybe?). Overall, it's a great place to stop on a road trip and see a lobster that is larger than a real lobster. Funnily enough, the servo across the road were selling lobster sandwiches. Maybe I should've got one of those instead of the sausage roll? The lobster was pretty large.

Im not normally particularly interested in 'the big thingys' towns/States attempt to portray themselves as having the biggest n bestest of. The Big Pinapple is my home patch claim to fame lol😁🍍 However! The Big Lobster is indeed impressive, not just BIG, but also almost pedantically detailed! Well done creators, this big crustation is a winner to me. I noted that The Big Lobster gets plenty of photos, selfies, and inspections by the passer bys but it seems many visitors click, and then cross the road to the bakeries and other food places, this instead of taking a seat in the restaurant right behind the big orangey/red fella. I do hope that place gets good trade in the high seasons as its their parking area the photographers mostly use for a lot of their snapping events. I was fascinated by the home across from The Big Lobster.
Valerie — Google review
This rating is for the giant lobster. I was just passing by and took a few photos. I did not enter the venue so can't comment on it. However, the outside area looked quite welcoming.
Emmy S — Google review
We stopped in Kingston SE during our road trip and saw the Big Lobster, also called Larry. It was really big and fun to see! Larry is 17 metres tall – that’s very tall for a lobster! You can walk up close to it and take photos. It was made in 1979 to help bring more tourists to the town. The claws and face look very cool, even though it’s a little old now. Kingston is a quiet town near the beach, and the Big Lobster is a great place to stop if you’re driving by. We had fun, took some photos, and got a coffee nearby. If you like seeing strange or funny things when you travel, you will like Larry the Lobster!

Had a really lovely tour here on boxing day - both guides did a great job! Very friendly and made it a nice experience. Being able to your the lighthouse was amazing, such a bonus in this little town! I dont love ladders and confined spaces, but it was very much worth the lookout and knowledge/history. Would love to come again when it is lit up, I am already looking at what my availability is for the dates!

Interesting lighthouse. Some information on it outside. Tours are available at certain times. Well worth a look.

Fantastic tour. Guides were lovely and really brought the stories to life. Even got to go all the way up to the lantern!! Definitely would visit again.
Yvonne D — Google review
Had a great (private) tour as only us, with Sharon our guide. What a lovely Lightouse.
Jo A — Google review
This is quite a special lighthouse. It was originally erected 8 km offshore on a reef but was decommisioned in 1973. Eventually it was dismantled and re-erected inland at the current location in Kingston in 1976. You can join a tour to go up to the lighthouse, $15 per adult of $7 per child. There is also night tour available at 6:00 pm but you have to check out the night tour schedule and the price from their website.

Interesting history regarding the relocation which explains the rather unusual structure.

Wow, the story behind this lighthouse is amazing. I could tell you story, but I won't spoil it for you. Do yourself a favor and go and visit if in the area. The tour guides were very friendly and informative. Remember it's 129 steps to the top with a wonderful view.

Visited Cape Jaffa Lighthouse today with my father and we both had a fantastic time. Our guides Jacqueline and James were very welcoming, informative and safety-conscious. There were some tricky steps to scale on the trip up but we were not at all rushed by our guide and what a lovely aerial view of Kingston SE greeted us at the top! The gift shop area was quite a surprise and housed a wide selection of Lighthouse and Kingston related magnets, pens, postcards, books etc. Overall such an interesting place to visit and what an exhilarating climb to the top! Well worth our trip from Mount Gambier. Thank you James and Jacqueline - you are stars!

Lovely venue, pretty location, superb wines and a very nice cheese platter. The cheeses on the platter were absolutely sensational - best we have come across and very generous servings. Would definitely visit again. Very small thing - your olives are delicious, but the tiny ones sure are difficult to eat.

The location and venue is gorgeous, and the wine tasting with a platter was delicious. The staff were young and knowledgeable, bubbles were my favourite, definitely worth the visit

Venue is wonderful! Wines aren’t so much to my taste and beers are bitter focused but worth the visit! Was unfortunate we couldn’t do tastings!

We had the BEST day here on Easter Saturday! Had heard so many great reviews and the reality did not disappoint. We booked for the deck and the outlook over the vines was stunning ! We really enjoyed an assortment of the Loophole beers and Cape Jaffa bubbles with a really reasonably priced and delicious cheese board. Added bonus was the Dough and Dough pizzas which were so yum and the live music. Was such a fabulous afternoon.. congrats Cape Jaffa Winery for a creating such a great vibe ! Will be back !! 10/10

A beautiful afternoon, with a well explained wine appreciation and tasting by very knowledgeable staff. A charcuterie board wonderfully presented with some excellent wine chosen for review. A fantastic time had by all.

Enjoyed a wine tasting of Cape Jaffa's delicious biodynamic wines, guided by the beautiful Tully, whose personality and grace sparkled as much as the wines! Also met Ryan the kitty, (also a charmer). I shall come back in summer, when it's a tad warmer, as the views out over the vineyards are so lovely and peaceful. I highly recommend the biodynamic Shiraz and the Gewurtztraminer. Thank you!

Great beer and wine tasting with four complimentary samples. Staff have fantastic knowledge of their products with a welcoming friendly smile. Both indoor and outdoor seating, outdoor balcony over looks the vineyards with spectacular views. If you’re in the area I would strongly recommend coming to visit Cape Jaffa Wines, I will be back. Also Tesla car charging station for electric vehicles.

Wonderful location and outlook, great wines, and super friendly and helpful staff. We visited on Easter Sunday, a busy day with live music, and I suspect the wild weather just made the day busier and more stressful for the staff as tourists like us looked for cover! We had a large group and no booking as it was a ‘wing it’ kind of day for us, no expectations as we’re happy to go with the flow. The staff were awesome and continually provided improved locations for us as they became available throughout the venue. We were really impressed with how the team operated - have seen venues really struggle on days like that but these guys excelled under pressure. Thanks all for a great afternoon. Will be back to try more of the range.
