Katrina was super helpful and informative. The centre was beautifully presented and as we left Katrina surprised us with a bag of brochures for our overseas visitors, great service. Thank you, it is a great place to stop in and learn about the area.

Called into the education centre in Nathalia for a look today Saturday 19th April. My wife took a had a medical issue whilst we were visiting, I would like to thank Lauren for going above and beyond her job description, she couldn't have been more helpful and attentive to make My wife feel comfortable and safe. A ambulance was called as a precaution and after a checkup from the paramedics all was well. Thankyou again Lauren for your concern and support. Any employer would not find a better employee . Regards Geoff Waldron.

The Tatura Irrigation and Wartime Camps Museum is a local history and heritage museum, entirely run by volunteers. It features an extensive reference library, as well as a shop for visitors. The displays are laid out in a very engaging manner, covering both settlement days and the World War II era when the camp mostly held Germans. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, offering informative briefings to anyone who asks.
Very informative and interesting museum converting the PoW / internment camps during WWII. Definitely worth watching the video presentation to understand the history. Features paintings, kids toys, and work tools made by interns and their families. Predominantly about PoWs transferred from the UK but also about Japanese civilians interned after Pearl Harbour.

Absolutely amazing. Extremely worth a visit as the museum is run by volunteers. Volunteers extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Definitely need two hours on the museum.
Amy A — Google review
Very interesting and educational, a real eye opener to see what happened here during WW1 and 2. Their collection is extensive and unique to Victoria having been listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. The collection comprises artefacts and memorabilia all donated by former Internees, POW’s, their families and members of the public. Some notable items included in the collection are 54 works of art by Leonhard Adam; sketches by Georg Rosenkranz, numerous hand-crafted wooden items and clothing made and worn whilst interned. There is also children’s toys made for Christmas and birthdays, metal objects (including the handmade lathe), musical instruments, theatre programmes, a collection of amazing puppets and numerous books/documents written during and after internment. So many photos throughout the museum and a very interesting introductory video on your arrival.
Greg G — Google review
Fantastic small museum highlighting the history of the area, both settlement days and ww2. Worth the visit if your interested area.
Justan K — Google review
On your way to Shepperton, stop at 'Tatura Irrigation and Wartime Camps Museum' as it has an excellent collection of the areas past and current history.
Katie C — Google review
An amazing collection of memorabilia, including photos, paintings and artifacts from a little known period in Australian WW2 history. Make sure you see the video presentation before you walk through as this gives excellent background information. Entry cost is minimal ($5 adult) and you could easily spend a couple of hours checking it all out. There are also interesting exhibits about the local irrigation systems and local families of the area.

Black Caviar Statue

What a spectacular statue for an Australian horse racing icon. The lake behind makes for a beautiful backdrop & there are great cafes around there as well.
Thor W — Google review
The statue is mounted on a dark, polished plinth that bears the name "BLACK CAVIAR" in elegant lettering. The base is surrounded by vibrant greenery and pink flowers, adding a touch of natural beauty to the memorial. The clear blue sky in the background provides a lovely contrast to the dark tones of the statue, making it stand out prominently. The lighting suggests it might be late afternoon or early morning, casting soft shadows that enhance the three-dimensional form of the sculpture.
Koonthos K — Google review
An impressive town, so beautifully maintained, so clean, great lawns and walkways around the outstanding lake view. A few great cafes and restaurants, accommodation options and a cracking looking playground and water park.
Victoria S — Google review
Statue sitting on the banks of Lake Nagambie in the main street. The horse was such an icon for both racing and non racing fraternity. Lovely town also.
Jan L — Google review
The view of the lake is so good! Very nice cafes and pubs just down the rd.
Sean C — Google review
Pretty little town by Lake Nagambie. Interesting racing history. Pleasant lake views from the statue.
Trudy E — Google review
A nice statue of this legendary racing horse in the area where she was breed and raised.
Gregory H — Google review
A nice statue with a great backdrop of the Nagambie Lake. It's a pleasant addition to the quaint town of Nagambie, and worth a photo and a read if you're in town. Statue is not difficult to miss and there is plenty of parking in the side road in front of the statue. A pleasant stop-off with walks to the nearby lake - worth a visit for sure.

Bad timing for a visit to the lake next to the main street, due to renovations on the boardwalk. Love the bronze of Black Caviar, and the township is a great walk around.

Lovely and clean lake. Great place for picnic and to spend time. There is a Black Cavier Statue. Coincidently on the way to visit the statue we came across a cloud image of the horse which was a sign that we were heading in the right direction.

Went with my friends to watch a fishing competition a few weeks back. It was quite an experience. A quiet small town in regional victoria that grew up around a lake. Take your fishing gear and head to this town for a relaxing weekend.

Love going here just so peaceful and relaxing.. Lots of places to grab a take away coffee and go and sit by Black Caviar Statue... Several tables around it lively free n grass to sit.. Or try the Local Hotel just near park which has fantastic outdoor setting overlooking the Lake... Also the New Brew House/Cafe... great outdoor decking/dining for a quick beer and snack..or meals at the Cafe.relaxwhilst watching the world go by... Or go across to Rowing Club side and have a swim.. Watch the boats... Jet skis.. Regatta if on or even practise rowing.... Great little town to have a quick break.... Take a walk around the new path that takes you to a park for the kids (behind motel) or keep going and come to a bridge cross and see the other side of creek.. Or go for a quick dip in swimming area... Go for a fish and maybe catch A Murray Cod or Freshwater Cray...

It offers a wide range of activities including horseback riding, mini-golf, pedal boats, archery, climbing walls, and an animal nursery where children can meet baby animals and enjoy pony rides. The ranch also features a museum dedicated to horse-drawn machinery and transport.
A Fantastic Family Getaway at Billabong Ranch This was our second time visiting Billabong Ranch, and it definitely didn’t disappoint! It’s the perfect destination for families, with so many activities that kept our kids entertained from start to finish. Their favorite part was the pony rides – a memorable experience that they’re already asking to repeat. The trampolines were also a huge hit! The kids had a blast jumping around and trying flips. It was great to see them so excited, burning off energy while having fun. We also enjoyed some relaxing family golf, which was a perfect way to unwind after all the jumping. Overall, Billabong Ranch offers a mix of fun, adventure, and relaxation that makes it an ideal spot for a family getaway. We’re already looking forward to our next visit! I would like to shout out the lovely girl that looked after my children on the pony rides as she went above and beyond.

5 Stars – A Truly Unforgettable Experience! We had the most amazing time at Billabong Ranch! From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The horse riding was a definite highlight – the horses were well-trained and clearly well-cared for, making the experience enjoyable for both beginners and experienced riders alike. The facilities were top-notch, with plenty of fun activities for all ages. The animal nursery was a hit with the kids, and we all had a blast on the pedal boats and mini golf course. It’s clear that the team at Billabong Ranch puts a lot of effort into creating a safe, family-friendly environment. Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or quality time with loved ones, Billabong Ranch has something for everyone. Highly recommend and can’t wait to come back!

What a magical place! It was absolutely beautiful 💛 Our kids loved all of the activities; mini golf, rock climbing, feeding the animals, kayaks, pedal boats and soo much more!! The staff were also amazing! Soo kind and it was very obvious they love their job! Thank you for creating a beautiful place, we will be back!! 😁

We did a 1 hr horse trail ride here on the Easter Sunday and we really liked it. It's bit expensive for what it is, however the girls were very nice and made sure my 7 year old son had a good time. I would recommend this if you are visiting Echuca.
Eric A — Google review
I’m feeling so nostalgic stumbling across this ranch again! My Nan used to bring me here every time we visited Echuca, and I was absolutely obsessed with horses as a kid. I still remember riding Sparks and Sookie like it was yesterday, those horses were everything to me growing up. While I was off riding, my little brother would spend ages playing mini golf, so there was always something for both of us to enjoy. It’s so lovely to see the ranch still going strong and continuing to bring joy to other families. Thank you for being such a core part of my childhood, I’ll always hold those memories close 💛🐴 (Sharing a couple of photos with Sparks and Sookie, taken just over 10 years ago for a bit of nostalgia!)

My girls and I spent a lovely day here. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A great variety of things to do for the kids and family. Food was a good price and really delicious. A huge shout out to the very helpful young man Xavier who came to the rescue and changed my tyre as I had a flat. Thank you 😊 your slushy was well deserved!

we had a lovely late lunch on a warm sunny day at Tahbilk Estate restaurant. The outdoor terrace is facing the backwaters of the Tahbilk billabong, with views across the water and into the wetlands, with a bottle of Tahbilk's Marsanne, we simply sit back and admire the natural beauty of this lovely place. The food is as impressive as the view, my baked Trout is one of the best I have had, staff is friendly and efficient, we enjoyed our lazy lunch very much, definitely the highlight of our short stay in Nagambie.
E H — Google review
Decided to stop in for lunch. We were not disappointed. With a few tables available we were set for a great lunch. Awesome service and delicious food. We decided on the Pepperberry Pork belly with a side of green beans Then dessert was Red wine poached pear and the Apple crumble.
Martz B — Google review
Location is pristine, right by the side of billabong with peace and tranquillity. Food is delivered fast and tastes marvellous, friendly customer service and particularly liked the way staff explained the history of the place and the menu. Beverages are unique and pleasing. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming. Ample parking space to accommodate large crowds. The drive is beautiful to the venue and by itself offers a unique experience.
S C — Google review
A fair bit out of the way but definitely worth it. Outlook over the billabong. Lovely spacious interior with beautiful wood detailing and superb decor. Tables well separated. The atmosphere was 6/5. We shared an entree which was new to the menu and was delicious. Wife had Barramundi and I had Beef Cheek. We each had a glass of superior quality wine. We each had dessert and shared a glass of dessert wine. I had a coffee. The meal was outstanding in every way. Presentation and flavour top notch. Quantity just right (not too small!). Service was that nice laid back Australian style where they look after you, friendly without being too familiar and you feel good about it. It wasn't cheap but this was one of the best meals we've had in a while and it was definitely worth it and the travelling a bit further.
Chris M — Google review
Warmly greeted on arrival, were shown you our table. The menu fantastic almost too much to choose from. The arancini balls Devine, ciabatta with balsamic vinegar excellent. Beef cheeks cooked to perfection, just melt in your mouth. Great wines, including 2017 1860’s Shiraz. An absolutely amazing experience. Would recommend highly
Craigie V — Google review
Had a wonderful time here celebrating my birthday! The restaurant itself was lovely, the food interesting and delicious and the service very friendly. Unfortunately I forgot the name of our waitress but she had blue and pink split dyed hair. Anyway, she did a great job and answered all our questions happily. We had the special Good Friday 2 course meal including one glass of wine for $65 pp. This was very reasonable, we were just a bit sad that the wine that was included in that price didn't necessarily include something we liked 100% so we went with the next best and then in addition ordered a bottle of moscato which we highly enjoyed. The pink moscato was so delicious! We had a variety of food between us 4. We tried the lemon and sage pasta, the roast lamb, the truffle croquettes, the meat platter and the cheese board. We were very satisfied with everything. We honestly had such a great time with our friends here. After our lunch we headed for a walk behind the restaurant looking at the wine fields. We are not from the area but we will certainly return when we are again! 🍷🧀🥖

I had lunch with my friends at Tahbilk Estate Restaurant. We ordered House Made Mushroom, Parmesan & Truffle Croquettes $21 (there’s nothing special about this dish) Roast & Brined free-range chicken breast $40 (chicken is tender and juicy) Tahbilk Seacuterie plate $68 (this plate comes with 3 pieces of oysters and 3 pieces of prawns and salmon roe crème fraiche) it’s very pricy compared with what we get from this dish Chargrilled 230g Angus Eye Fillet Steak $58 (this quality steak was cooked to perfection) Sweet potato chips (this is my favourite item from the table) Overall, service is not up to the standard. Need to call the server to top up water and server told us they don’t have anything to pack for our left over sweet potato chips)

Mitchelton Wines

Winery
Food & Drink
Mitchelton Wines offers a 5-star experience with delicious food, pleasant wines, and professional friendly service. The modern decor throughout the estate includes stunning hotel rooms with large balconies and a warm pool. The riverside setting features beautiful architecture and meticulously maintained grounds. Guests can enjoy spa treatments, outdoor concerts, and an iconic 1970s lookout. The underground art gallery showcases colorful Aboriginal art of different styles, making it a very special place to visit.
My wife and I stayed at the Mitchelton Winery with friends for two days in one of the small cabins. What a fantastic experience. The cabins are extremely comfortable and very well equipped with all the necessities to ensure a comfortable stay. The cabins have a small deck to enjoy an afternoon drink and look out over the vineyard and surrounding hills. We dined at the Muse restaurant in front of the open fire. The atmosphere was very warm and cozy and the food was stunning. All the hotel staff were fabulous particularly Sibel in the restaurant who was charming and very efficient. The grounds of the winery are absolutely first rate. It is a sprawling winery skirted by the meandering river providing a very relaxed stay. The observation tower provides amazing views of the surrounding country side. We definitely recommend staying at Mitchelton and will definitely be back.
Mark P — Google review
Although the position, scenery and atmosphere is amazing , the service and food were below expectation. Entree/starters were lovely but mains and drink service were questionable. We continuously found ourselves trying to get staff attention to request drinks, menus, dessert etc. The meals were not at a standard considering the cost and ensure you order sides with your main or you’ll simply receive the protein with nothing else. When comparing to other local wineries this rates much lower unfortunately !
Lisa W — Google review
Just spent two nights there this week and all I can say is wow!!!!! From the moment we got to our booking at the cellar door, we were welcomed by Lauren. Such a happy warm personality and her knowledge of wine impeccable. With an open fire, it set the scene for our fulfilling afternoon. Once closed, we went into checking into our accommodation and were greeted by a delightful glass of red, another wood fire and nothing but smiling front desk staff…. If only I knew his name, I would commend him. Tall man who I then saw everyday was just a pleasure to see each day. He was friendly, accommodating and patient☺️ The rooms, gorgeous. Everything you need, down do the tasty tea bags🤤 Kangaroos hopping across the open grass and a beautiful sunset over the river, perfection. Onto dinner and breakfast the next morning and Michelle is just the most chipper personality, it’s infectious and she’s only too happy to help. The food, staff, wine, gardens, facilities, chefs and cleaning staff, just everyone, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 what an incredible experience. I loved everything about it and I can’t wait to get back. If you’re yet to experience Michelton Wines, don’t put it off, you’ll wonder how you never thought to come years earlier. I’ll definitely be back😍😍😍

From the moment we arrived, our stay was nothing short of exceptional, a perfect mix of comfort, fun, and genuine hospitality. A special thank you to Sancho, who truly went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Whether it was zipping us around in the buggy with a smile or lighting the fire pit for a cozy evening, Sancho made sure we never had to lift a finger. His attention to detail and easygoing nature meant we could fully relax and enjoy every moment, knowing everything was taken care of to the highest standard. Our dining experience at The Muse was another highlight. Sam delivered outstanding service with warmth and professionalism, making the evening feel special from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour. We also want to acknowledge Georgia, who was both kind and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. She added an extra touch of thoughtfulness that didn’t go unnoticed. All in all, we felt genuinely looked after and left with memories we’ll cherish. Looking forward to the next stay. Cheers!

We had the absolute pleasure of photographing Zoe and Nathan’s beautiful wedding at Mitchelton Winery and it was a really lovely experience. The venue is breathtaking in every season, with both indoor and outdoor spaces that work so well for weddings. The on-site Aboriginal art gallery adds a meaningful and unique element to the location. What stood out just as much as the scenery was the incredible staff, they were so warm and welcoming — we felt more like guests than vendors, and that kind of hospitality makes all the difference. Thank you for having us, Mitchelton. We can’t wait to be back again soon! - The Berhardts x
The B — Google review
The setting is lovely and the Riesling was plain but fine. Everything else? Disappointing. The smoky bacon pizza with onion jam was cloyingly sweet — more dessert than savoury. The sourdough crust was the only redeeming part. The mushroom and truffle arancini tasted like deep-fried mush. No truffle, no mushroom — just filler shaped into balls. Service tried to make up for it with a 20% discount, but the food and drink were not worth the premium prices. At $12 for three arancini and $28 for a pizza, the quality should have been excellent. Instead, it was laughable. I’ve had better at both cheaper and more expensive places. Will I be back? Absolutely not.
Benjamin D — Google review
I recently had lunch at Michelton Winery with a friend and had the barramundi, gnocchi, and Shiraz. The gnocchi was a satisfying vegetarian option—though, unfortunately, the only one available. The barramundi, however, was disappointing, lacking depth in flavor. Dessert made up for it with a delicious chocolate fondant and honey cake. The restaurant’s warm atmosphere made for an enjoyable meal, but my visit to the cellar was far less pleasant. When I asked about wine tastings, the staff member seemed dismissive, telling us to wait while she checked for available tables—despite several empty ones in sight. Unlike other guests, who received detailed explanations, we were simply handed a menu with little engagement. This left me frustrated, and in the end, I only purchased the Shiraz—the one wine I had tasted at the restaurant. Overall, while the restaurant impressed with its food and ambiance, the cellar experience was disappointing.

An exceptional, must visit vineyard! Very comfortable rooms, well made facilities, beautiful dining spaces, aboriginal art, massive grounds and of course the wines. All staff are examples of classy hospitality. A true oasis that is a comfortable drive from Melbourne.

The Great Aussie Beer Shed & Heritage Farm Museum is a one-of-a-kind museum that offers a comprehensive experience for visitors. The museum features an eclectic collection of motoring, brewing, and domestic items, including thousands of beer cans from around the world.
It's definitely worth a visit, well exceeded what I thought it would be. Greeted by a lovely guy who was one of the tour guides, he was so welcoming and told me where everything was, offered me a drink from the bar to walk around with while I looked around and told me there would be a tour on in 5 mins. He showed me some amazing creations made out of beer cans. Met the owner Neil at the bar at the entrance he was very personable and welcoming. Went into a monster size shed and was blown away at the variety of memorabilia, definitely a trip down memory lane with some things. Listen to Neil talk about some items there it was so interesting and just when I thought I'd seen it all I realised that was only half of what was there, there was a huge hall out the back and more outside, such great displays. I would definitely recommend you visit here. You will not be disappointed. Well done, Neil and staff, on a great attraction.
Liz C — Google review
Staff are very welcoming, and Neil's enthusiasm and knowledge is great, as well as entertaining. Apart from the mind boggling array of beer related stuff, there are lots of other gems from years gone by. Make sure you also explore the displays outside, including the shipping containers out behind the car park. Number 1 rated attraction in Echuca for a reason.... well worth a visit.

A really worthwhile place to visit. The owner will greet you at the door and gives a great presentation. He is one character and a half and has the best Aussie personality and a great knowledge of the recent Australian past. You will learn things from him you never knew. Was glad we made the effort to visit.

The place is so much more than beer though as you’ll find walls of vintage beer cans, brewery relics, retro signs, old petrol pumps, restored automobiles, farm machinery, soda dispensers, and more. A huge shout out to Neil an absolute legend, the owner whose passion and knowledge of Australian history, culture, and memorabilia really bring the collection to life. He took time to explain many of the items, cracked a few jokes, and made the experience personal and memorable. The atmosphere is delightfully nostalgic and rustic it’s like stepping back in time. There’s a sense that every object has a story. The restored cars and machinery especially add a touch of old-school charm. If you’re in Echuca, do not skip this museum. It’s a passion project that’s well worth your time and admission.

Neil was so friendly, greeted us in the car park and explained the best way to view everything. What a place. Everyone should visit at least once. Need a minimum of 1 hour. Would be great to hold a function there.

Alan and Bryan were great tour guides and gave us a lot of information. They were super knowledgeable and friendly. We saw so many great Australian pieces and were blown away by how big the collection actually is. The stories behind some of the items were also very interesting. We visited on the 11/10/2025 and will definitely be back

TwistED Science in Echuca, Victoria is an award-winning Playzone that offers interactive play stations for both kids and adults. Unlike traditional science museums, TwistED Science encourages hands-on participation and embraces mess. The company aims to make science enjoyable for everyone by expressing complex scientific concepts through various activities. Visitors can engage in building flying machines, learning about future food, designing ball runs, testing reaction speeds, and much more.
This is a great place to entertain kids! We met a few local stick insects, a lizard, a turtle, and did a heap of fun things! Even better value when you link it with a paddlesteamer ticket! We visited on a weekday morning during school term, and it was quiet. Assume it's busier at peak times.

My 3 and 5 year old kids had a great time at Twisted Echuca. There were one or two activities out of order but enough to keep them entertained for a full two hours. My 3 year old loved the replay video and my 5 year old enjoyed working out cogs and ramps
Emily — Google review
Visited Twisted Science yesterday with my just 2 year old daughter. We had an amazing afternoon. I wasn’t sure if she was going to be a bit young, but was pleasantly surprised there was loads of things for her to do. Kept her busy for the entire session and she didn’t want to leave at the end. Had to bribe her to leave with something from the shop, which was also reasonably priced and lots of little cheap items to choose from to bribe children out the door 😂 The staff were so friendly and even got the lizard out for my daughter to pat. The facility was clean and well maintained. There were loads of different activities and things for her to do. Overall, a really really great experience

We had a fantastic time. Ages ranged from 8 to 80 and we all enjoyed it. I could go back again tomorrow and do things we didn't have time to do. Kids had a ball. Money very well spent.

So much fun for the adults and kids! Numerous activities for everyone to do, play and learn from. It makes the hour and half booking time go by quickly. Make sure you "stick" around til the end as you might pet some friendly creatures.

The Historic Port of Echuca is a captivating open-air museum that takes you back to the 19th century, showcasing the rich history of this once-thriving river wharf. As home to Australia's largest fleet of steam-driven paddlesteamers, it operates much like it did in the 1860s, with skilled shipwrights and steam engineers still playing crucial roles today.
A wonderful place to visit. A true piece of history preserved to this day. Both kids and adults will definitely find it interesting here. The boat ride was definitely impressive. It was unforgettable. Highly recommend.

Great district to visit. Step back in time. See and experience the old world in modern comfort. Steam Trains, Horse & carriage, Paddle Steamers - all ready to experience. Can get very busy. Bookings recommended on Peak Days
Tony W — Google review
Port of Echuca feels like being transported back in time. The restored wharf, the smell of the river gums, and the creak of timber all give it a charming old-town vibe that’s hard to find elsewhere. The highlight is watching and riding the historic paddle steamers still operating on the Murray, hearing the chug of their engines and the whistle echoing off the water is pure nostalgia. Around the wharf you’ll also spot an old steam engine on display and plenty of rustic, heritage-style buildings that complete the old-school river-port atmosphere. Great place for a stroll, photography, or a ride on one of the paddleboats. A must-see if you’re in Echuca!
Arjun P — Google review
A great historical area focussed on the Murray River riverboats and related industries. Some of these industries are still practised here for tourists. Some good eating places and enough to fill in your day and go on a paddle boat cruise.
Paul D — Google review
the Port of Echuca delivers a memorable day out that celebrates Australia’s inland waterways. The Port of Echuca, located at 74 Murray Esplanade, is a captivating riverside gem that encapsulates the rich maritime and cultural heritage of Victoria’s Murray River region. Visited on a September sunny afternoon, this historic precinct left me enchanted with its blend of nostalgia, natural beauty, and free access, making it an unmissable stop for travelers and locals alike. Often dubbed the "Paddle Steamer Capital of Australia," this vibrant hub offers a step back in time while delivering a modern-day experience that’s both educational and relaxing. The port’s free entry is a delightful surprise, allowing unrestricted exploration of its sprawling 5-hectare site along the Murray River. The star attraction is the restored wharf, a bustling hub in the 19th century when Echuca was a vital trade link between Melbourne and inland Australia. Walking the wooden planks, I marveled at the historic paddle steamers docked along the riverbank, including the iconic PS Alexander Arbuthnot and PS Emmylou, which offer paid cruises but are a sight to behold even from shore. The wharf’s interpretive signs vividly recount tales of paddle steamers hauling wool, timber, and supplies, with over 200 vessels once operating from this port. The adjacent Star Hotel, dating back to 1860, and the working blacksmith forge add authentic touches, while the Discovery Centre provides interactive exhibits on the river’s ecology and Indigenous history—perfect for families or history buffs. The setting itself is a draw, with the Murray River’s glassy waters reflecting the red gums and willow trees lining the banks. I spent time on the grassy esplanade, enjoying a spontaneous picnic with views of the historic bridge and passing houseboats, a nod to the region’s thriving tourism. The port’s layout encourages leisurely wandering, with pathways leading to the Echuca Wharf Brewery for a craft beer or the Port of Echuca Coffee Lounge for a caffeine fix. The free daily events, like the 1 PM cannon firing (weather permitting), add a lively touch, though I missed it by minutes—next time, I’ll time my visit better. Accessibility is excellent, with flat paths suitable for wheelchairs and prams, and ample parking nearby. The only minor quibble is the lack of shaded seating during peak summer heat, but the riverside breeze mitigates this. For a deeper dive, paid options like the 1-hour paddle steamer cruise ($35 adults) or the 1860s Historic Precinct entry ($15) are worth considering, but the free experience alone—spanning the wharf, gardens, and river views—offers immense value. Whether you’re drawn by the paddle steamer heritage, the chance to spot pelicans, or simply a peaceful riverside escape, the Port of Echuca delivers a memorable day out that celebrates Australia’s inland waterways.

The National Holden Motor Museum in Echuca, Australia, is a tribute to the iconic Australian car brand. It boasts a collection of over 80 Holden automobiles, including rare and vintage models. Visitors can explore the history of Holden and witness how these cars were built. The museum also features a spacious exhibit area with more than 40 vehicles on display, along with unique prototypes, vintage photos, and historic video footage. Additionally, there's a gift shop offering souvenirs for enthusiasts.
Our family is a long time supporter of Holdens, and museums like this one are a treat! We visited last weekend. Entry fee is cheap at only $10 per adult. The weather was super hot that day but inside it was comfortable. Great range of vehicles and memorabilia, and it was great to hear all the visitors reminiscing about their Holden adventures. Please visit soon as the museum is closing down in April 2024!

As lovers of cars and all things old and nostalgic, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. It was a little muggy inside (hot day outside) but it was only a minor inconvenience. Great collection of Holdens and Holden memorabilia. Dog friendly too.

Loved our visit to the National Holden Motor Museum. As a mechanic it was great to see all the different models of Holdens from the past decades. There are also some prototype models as well as models used in the product development process. Super interesting place to visit even if you're not a car fanatic. Definitely recommend it if you're in the area or just passing through. There's also a great giftshop which has something for any car nut. Not just Holden fans.

If you’re a car fan or even interested in history the Holden Museum is a must when you’re in Echuca! There’s so much to see and you can get really close to some great and rare examples of Australian motor engineering. Ticket prices are very reasonable and you won’t be disappointed!

A great museum with a range of classic and modern Holden’s that are swapped out every couple of months. With an affordable $10 entry to the museum itself, it grants access for either a 10 minute walk-in-walk-out or more than hour of in-depth reading into the history and information of Holden. The staff are super friendly and approachable and appreciate a good conversation. Overall the National Holden Motor Museum is a must visit for car enthusiasts keen on looking into the discontinued Holden name or rather, just to kill a bit of time while visiting Echuca.

Really great place to visit even if you're not a Holden fanatic (like me). The 50 cars on display are in prime condition and laid out very well. Lots of memorabilia on display as well. The 2 guys that were on duty were friendly and didn't mind a chat. A very informative visit. 👍

Great place for adults to visit to remember their youth & appreciate the vast range of cars that were produced under the Holden banner. The entrance fee was reasonable & the owners were very good about allowing visitors to wander around at their own pace, to get close to the cars & willing to provide information when asked. Well worth a visit, even if you're not particularly interested in cars 'per se'. The evolution of design, the beauty of the vehicles & the historical aspects of the display are inestimable.
Gail A — Google review
Wasn't bad, I'm not a big Holden fan, some others would love it more. That said it was interesting to see the history of Holden from before my time all in one spot. Entry price was fair and plenty of parking available.

It's a perfect way to enjoy nature while getting some exercise! Rob and his team are dedicated to ensuring that every paddler has a memorable time on the water.
If you wanted to experience the Murray in a different way, these guys are legends. Found a way to accommodate our 4 day trip last minute, gave us everything we needed and dropped us back to our starting point seamlessly. Really genuine, great people.
Sam M — Google review
We had an EPIC adventure with River Country Adventours on the weekend just gone. It was a Kayaking and Camping weekend but with minimal effort and planning on our behalf - we just turned up with our food, duvet, pillows, camp chairs and clothes! Ash organised everything for us including a large 8 man tent, queen mattress, 2 burner cooker, gas, cutlery, fishing rods, bait and even a portable loo! We arrived to our camp site on the banks of the Goulburn River, left our car and Ash transported us and the canoe to the launch site. 15 leisurely down stream kms later we see our camp along the bank, completing day 1. No other campers around, our own private space with lots of bird life to see. Fishing rods out and a Murray Cod caught with cheese cubes. Murray Cod sent back to river to continue its idealic lifestyle. Camp fire lit, steaks cooked and some cool tunes as the sunset. Next morning after a hearty breakfast on the fire, we head off for 10kms where Ash and his beautiful wife Brooke are waiting for us to take us back to our car. This is a MUST DO - so fun, easy paddling, everything organised for you and not having to pack a tent away was a luxury! Thank you Ash & Brooke - we loved every minute of our experience and can’t wait to come back with like minded friends!
Simone F — Google review
Can’t rate River Country Adventours highly enough. Rob is very knowledgeable and takes excellent care of paddlers - and he’s a great bloke as well. Our trip was very last minute and Rob was able to come up with a great plan at quite short notice. We did a 2-day self-guided paddle on the Goulburn - with Rob providing drop-off and pick-up, all the gear, and a terrific camping location. We saw and heard plenty of bird life - the highlight being an azure kingfisher, and we definitely piqued the interest of plenty of eastern greys. We will be booking some future paddles with Adventours for sure! Thanks Rob!

The Tooborac Brewery is a stunning 1850s bluestone hotel which has been transformed into a brewery and pub. The food here is excellent, with favourites including the Brisket Burger and the Spicy Parma. The brewery is well-staffed and offers good house beer options.
Having been past the Tooborac pub hundreds of times over many years I’d never dropped in. People were raving about the pies so a couple of years ago I stopped for a pie. Have to say I wasn’t impressed so never went back, until, tonight when I met up with friends for dinner. Our meals were fantastic! Staff were so friendly and efficient. Our meals were brought out without delay and were thoroughly enjoyable. We will definitely be back 👍

What a delightful pub! Amazing food. I had the brisket burger and it was gorgeous. Brisket melted in my mouth! Service was awesome, kind and helpful. Beer was out of this world. Fantastic selection and the taste was marvellous. Moreover, we bought some pies and I have never been a pie girl but today, that changed. I'm eating right now their chilli with beef pie and as a Mexican, this pie is the real thing! Tasty, meat is just wonderful with the beans and the sauce, just being superb. 10 out of 10! I highly recommend Tooborac pub and pies. 💜💜💜

Did a day trip up to Tooborac and no regrets. As many others have said, this a lovely old place, plenty of character and charm, awesome service and amazing food. Perfect day to sit out in the beer garden too. We ordered the Special Parma, Pie of the day and the Brisket burger- every single one hit the mark. Great selection of beers too - the Amber Ale was 👌 Another trip on the cards soon - to have the brisket burger.

The stunning location offers a lovely terrace overlooking the grape vines, making it a perfect spot to enjoy their amazing Shiraz. Visitors can also take a self-guided tour of the estate and enjoy the outdoor seating with breathtaking views. The winery is highly recommended for those who appreciate top-notch Heathcote wines and a fabulous atmosphere, especially during live music events.
We had a lovely wine tasting at Sanguine Estate Wines today. The wines are just divine. The location is stunning. It's a pity that the weather wasn't better or we would have enjoyed a wine out on the little terrace overlooking the grape vines. The Shiraz is amazing and we bought a few bottle to take with us. A nice touch was the self guided tour of the estate and also the kids toys for use while we were tasting.

Excellent shorter walking tracks, with lots of large granite rock formations. Plenty of wildlife ..kangaroos, birds, etc. Great views from 2 vantage points. Track signage is a bit cryptic, so I suggest using the "all-trails app" for navigation.
Robert L — Google review
Please be careful on the circuit track because the new road base is extremely dangerous for people in wheel chairs or walking aids. What happened. My wife and I took a person in a wheelchair along the circuit track. The write up says gentle walk, some inclines. We started going down a slight hill which was fine until the new road base became the issue. We started to lose traction with the chair and it started to drag us down in sections as well, including the person assisting. We found the front wheels were getting caught up on the rocks making the chair very difficult to maneuver safely. It was until we realised that we were about halfway down that it was too late to turn back. The wheelchair was unable to turn around safely on that decline. The person who we were pushing, came out of the wheelchair and we were also trying to keep it vertical at times on those rocks. The elderly person was in shock and so were we. Not hurt though. At the bottom, we had to regather ourselves knowing that we could get stuck on the actual hill because of the road base and slip factor. This is not safe for wheelchairs in this state and the write up needs to indicate this. I understand that the recent rains has made things difficult but surely someone tested it before the all clear. * The wheelchair is compliant to go on gravel and gentle slopes. The whole area is extremely positive, so please don't let my write up take away from the positives and the hard work people do to make this place special.

Lake Weeroona, often referred to as the jewel of Bendigo, is a picturesque spot that was once a mine in the 1850s. It was transformed into an 18-hectare lake in 1878 by the art director of Melbourne Botanic Gardens. The surrounding parkland features a shady path perfect for a leisurely 20-minute walk. Located just north of Bendigo's city center, it is also stop #4 on the Vintage Talking Tram route.
A perfect place to relax, walk or run around, step around the ducks, coffee at nearby Fox & Giraffe or lunch at The Bridge Hotel whilst staying at Quest Bendigo Central. Enjoyable all round.

The lake is quite nice, but nothing special. It’s well located in walking distance of the town and a stop on the Talking Tram Tour. There’s a cafe with a great lake view and we appreciated some of the different bird who live by the habitat, but it seemed a bit overhyped for me.

Very nice lake. Good place to run. About 1.4km for a long loop. Shorter if you take the scenic boardwalk route.

Beauteous place for walking, playing, and picnic. Amazing views with great cafes around. The coffee van is also here in the car park, which is very good.

Went here for the Bendigo Sprint Rowing Regatta. Lovely spot. Bar and restaurant at one end overlooking the lake. Coffee and food vans. Lots of people walking around the lake.

A wonderful lake to walk around. This popular venue attracts dog walkers, bike riders, children, adults - just about anyone who enjoys relaxing in the great outdoors. After having a late breakfast nearby, we strolled around this very pleasant park, lake and gardens. The residents of Bendigo are indeed lucky to have such a terrific space to enjoy - as are the ducks, swans and other feathered creatures. Visitors to the city can easily see why this place is so popular. There is even a coffee van :-) Here are some photos of Lake Weeroona. Do yourself a favour and visit!

Lake Weeroona is beautiful. Love to come here on a Saturday and watch the rowing regattas, whilst walking around it. It has a great playground for the kids, a BBQ Pavilion and plenty of benches to sit, relax and enjoy. And if hungry or thirsty, The Boardwalk Cafe will satisfy both.

Great central location to get some exercise in. A bit of 1km loop around the lake which was peaceful of an evening. Some water available along the way for people and dogs.

Bendigo Tramways offers city history tours on restored trams from the early and mid-20th century. The main tram depot operates out of the Central Deborah Gold Mine, providing an immersive way to learn about Bendigo's history and view key landmarks and monuments.
What a great place to be able to start the talking tram tour! We were able to buy tickets from the tramlike cafe that has a few seats on the inside and many varied seats for all ages on the outside. They have a mini golf course with free clubs and balls to use while waiting and toilets across the bridge. It’s particularly convenient for the hour wait between trams in the middle of the day! We had some very good scones with cream and jam and my wife’s hot chocolate was very tasty! My caramel latte looked beautiful, but I didn’t enjoy the syrup very much. The staff were very friendly and you could even buy tram souvenirs like socks there! Oh and it’s next to a free tram museum!

The Talking Tram ride was such a cool way to explore Bendigo. You get to sit in a beautifully restored tram while learning the history of the city. It’s relaxed, fun, and gives you a whole new appreciation for Bendigo. Great for all ages!

What a different dog friendly experience to go on a hop on hop off tram through Bendigo and learn about its history. Lots of easy free parking nearby and we even got to tour the Central Deborah Gold Mine while waiting for our tram with our dog joining us. Highly recommended

This quaint little hidden gem of a cafe is perfect for your after work coffee or visitors to the town who want something off the beaten path. Plenty of seating, great customer service and delicious well priced food. Gorgeous decorated interior of the vintage tram and in a perfect location, right next to the vintage tram history tour for Bendigo's hot spots.

The tram service provides historic information along the way and stops at significant landmarks. A $20 ticket is valid for the entire day, making it totally worth it if you’re exploring Bendigo city.
Chaya R — Google review
Really good and value the money! 18$ you can enjoy the city. The driving will tell you the place that you stop, also the story of the tram. You can visit centre city, tram cafe and 2/3 places more. You can start from centre city or Goldmine or tram cafe. Wherever you park.
Jenyven L — Google review
Wonderful way to see Bendigo, go early and get yourself a ticket, then just hop on and off through out the day seeing the sights.
Bill C — Google review
I was so pleased to be able to take my dog with me for this tram ride, made it an easier day for me. There are 5 places you can hop off and on to the next one. Just get the time table. There’s good info given as the tram travels along but a little too noisy from the old tram to hear sometimes. The driver had time to give us a bit of a personal history lesson which was interesting and so nice of him. Well worth doing, you can also visit the tram depot museum.

Sutton Grange Winery is a picturesque paradise nestled at the base of Mt Alexander, offering stunning rural views of the vineyard and beyond. The venue is highly praised for its exceptional wedding services, with staff going above and beyond to accommodate guests and ensure a seamless experience. Visitors rave about the friendly and helpful staff who assist with both ceremonies and receptions.
A picturesque estate as you drive in, exceptionally large but stunning and well looked after. You really don't expect such family style service with such a large estate. But it really was a delightful experience. Mars was great at explaining the area and where the wines came from. He shared his local knowledge and made the experience personalized to us. The wines at Sutton were full of flavour and they have a great range. We will definitely be adding them to our list wines.

10/10 for service with a smile from Toby and the team regardless of how busy it was - he took the time to talk to us about how each of the wine was made and where it was from. Learnt so much and really enjoyed my first trip to the Castlemaine wine region 🍷

Lunchtime booking for 8 on Sunday. Mild temp but overcast, no wind whatsoever and drizzling. Perfect for the verandah. Wine tasting at the table prior to platters and pizza. Best dish - the arancini balls. Staff were hugely accommodating as we had booked for inside but the outside area is nice if the weather is good. Always consistently good in a refined way. Always recommended.

Laura you were incredible with helping us plan our wedding. Your detailed brochure with many suggestions for vendors was extremely helpful too. Given the lead up to our wedding was one of the toughest weeks, Laura put in the hard yards to ensure that we were accommodated really well and all guests were comfortable. On the day of the wedding, all staff were so lovely and friendly. They assisted with our ceremony and reception and we had so many comments from guests about how nice everyone was. The food was absolutely amazing, so well cooked. The canapes, the entree and main, followed by the dessert, were 10/10. Not to mention the delicious wine which we thoroughly enjoyed! The venue itself is stunning, the location and the barrel room is beautiful. We got a perfect day for weather and our photos were perfect. I have attached a photo from one of our guests which speaks for itself. Thank you Laura and all staff at Sutton Grange Winery!

My love and I went here last weekend, and on a sunny autumn day, the atmosphere was more than we could have ever imagined. From the picturesque views with the sounds of nature to the gorgeous wine, Melissa looked after us for our tasting and accommodated our wants and desires for our experience. We were fortunate enough to have the venue to ourselves, something we will cherish forever!

Such a beautiful spot and really lovely wines. Su was so passionate talking through all the wines and we had a good time with the tasting to get a couple of vinos Unfortunately they weren’t doing their cheese boards at this time and no nibbles which was a downer
Anjul K — Google review
Nice venue, wine and food. Some staff we encountered at a recent wedding we attended here were pretty average, short, rude, uninviting, almost as if we were a burden being there. Caught us off guard as the rest of the venue was great. Few more smiles and an eagerness to accomodate would have been great and completely changed our experience from an average one to a great one. In saying this, some of the staff were great, it was just a few that spoiled it for us.

Visitors can explore exhibits showcasing the history of the Chinese community from the gold rush era to modern times. The museum also features a traditional garden, tearoom, and gift shop for an immersive experience. It stands as a living history of Bendigo's Chinese population and their significant influence on the city's traditions and charitable works.
Beautiful museum in Bendigo. They do have two outdoor areas and both free. The garden area is beautiful, if you walk a bit further down you will see a temple next to it.

This place is amazing. It shows the Chinese involvement with Bendigo since the Gold rush years. The collection of Chinese artefacts is vast and very interesting to look at. The whole site is very good and the restaurant was a great place for lunch.
Peter T — Google review
Incredible collection of Chinese artefacts. We spent ages wandering around looking at everything. It's just a shame that there isn't more space to display the collection as it's quite overcrowded. We believe that there are hopes for an extension to the building which will open the displays up a bit more. With a little cafe onsite and situated next to a small Chinese Garden it is really a worthwhile place to visit. Thank you to the staff who were very helpful and friendly. We had a lovely visit.

A nice place to visit, full of local history. Kids found it boring as they do, but we didn't care. We enjoyed it. Beautiful gardens with a nice Chinese restaurant next door.

Rosalind Park is a charming downtown park in Bendigo, featuring a fernery, an 1800s conservatory, gardens, and avenues lined with large shade trees. It is surrounded by top attractions such as the Bendigo Art Gallery, Golden Dragon Museum, Central Deborah Gold Mine, Bendigo Pottery, Bendigo Tramways, Lake Weeroona, The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion, Ulumbarra Theatre and Capital Theatre.
I recently visited Rosalind Park in Bendigo and was thoroughly impressed. This expansive 60-acre park offers lush greenery, historic trees, and beautifully landscaped gardens—perfect for relaxing with family and friends. Highlights include the Poppet Head Lookout Tower, which provides panoramic views of the city, and the Conservatory Gardens with its seasonal floral displays. The park also features a children’s playground, ornate statues, and a fernery, making it a versatile spot for all ages.

We walked through the park today just because we recognised the name on the map and wow! The trees in autumn are particularly beautiful! They look very old and there is even a great view of them at the top of the hill. It’s close to the main part of town, museums, war memorial, walking paths, a cool waterfall fountain and lots of native birds.

🌸 Rosalind Park — Bendigo Rosalind Park is such a peaceful and charming spot right in the heart of Bendigo 🌿✨ The garden is filled with bright flowers blooming beautifully along the paths. I loved how calm and green everything felt, from the big shady trees to the small daisies by the walkway. It’s a perfect place for a slow walk, to take photos, or just sit and breathe for a while. The stone paths and little streams give it that classic, almost European garden vibe. It’s one of those parks that makes you feel like time slows down for a bit — simple, quiet, and full of life at the same time 🌼💚

Visited during the GLOW Bendigo Light Show, so only seen it during the cover of darkness. However, the artists and exhibitors really utilise the gigantic parkland space along with the paved path to connect all the art pieces together. A true gem for Bendigo.

Peaceful and relaxing stroll through Bendigo. The most surprising part of it is that giant fruit bats live on the trees by the hundreds. It is an amazing how many bats you will see hanging from the trees just sleeping so sound and peacefully. Lots of interesting spots for selfies and photos.

Bendigo Art Gallery is a must-visit for art enthusiasts, offering a diverse range of visual arts exhibits from both regional and international artists spanning various eras. The gallery features an impressive collection of 19th-century European and Australian art. As part of this year's program, the gallery is hosting an all-ages workshop called The Big Draw, where participants can engage in the activity to Draw a Futuristic Gallery.
Travelled from Melbourne to see the Frida Khalo exhibition. Well worth the trip. The exhibition was extensive and very well curated. Plenty of other things to see and do in Bendigo, if you have the time. Plenty of art galleries, street art, historical buildings from the Gold Rush era, Chinese cultural heritage, great shops and wonderful cafes.
Devorah V — Google review
Our primary reason for visiting the Gallery was to experience the Frida Kahlo exhibition and it didn't disappoint 😍 we spend 2hrs wandering with our eyes fixed on every single exhibit. An absolutely wonderful Gallery with so very much on offer to see, regardless of whether you are interested or not. Just do it!!!

Visited a few years ago when it was the Elvis Exhibition. What a wonderful Gallery and immaculately presented. Despite being a busy afternoon session, everyone was friendly, gave each other room to take photos and admire the King of Rock n Roll. A true asset to Bendigo.
Normandy J — Google review
I love this place, I could just sit and enjoy every brushstroke. There are so many massive paintings, and each one is absolutely beautiful.
G M — Google review
Bendigo Art Gallery is reason enough to make the trip up the Calder. Housed in a graceful heritage building seamlessly blended with a sleek contemporary extension, it feels both historic and fresh. High-ceilinged rooms flood with natural light, while clever architecture guides you from grand 19th-century spaces to crisp, modern galleries without a hitch. Curation is top-class for a regional institution. The permanent Australian collection gives real depth. How about thinking of Heidelberg School landscapes in one room and bold contemporary works in the next, yet the blockbuster touring shows are what really shine. Whether it’s fashion icons, photography retrospectives or pop-culture tributes, the gallery consistently punches above its weight, drawing crowds that rival big-city institutions. Labels are informative without lecturing, and there’s always a thoughtfully placed bench or two so you can linger over a favourite piece. Practical touches round out the experience: friendly staff happy to chat about works, an airy café with excellent coffee and local bites, and a well-stocked shop that goes beyond generic souvenirs. The whole visit feels welcoming rather than stuffy, making it easy to lose a couple of hours in art-driven bliss. Five stars from me! Bendigo Art Gallery sets the gold standard for regional culture in Victoria.

Nestled in the vibrant Arts Precinct of Bendigo, Sacred Heart Cathedral stands as a magnificent testament to both architectural beauty and historical significance. Serving as the seat of the Bishop of Sandhurst, this impressive structure is not only one of Australia's largest churches but also ranks as the second tallest after St Patrick's Cathedral in Melbourne.
This historic church is incredible to see. It is so huge and powerful, I was in awe seeing it. I am not religious myself but I always appreciate a beautiful church building with centuries of history. This is probably the biggest and favourite that I’ve seen up close. Definitely go and visit!

Step into the thrilling and adrenaline-pumping adventure of Central Deborah Gold Mine, a real gold mine that operated during Bendigo's gold rush boom. Visitors can experience what life was like for miners in the 1900s as they descend over 60 meters underground, exploring tunnels and historic mining equipment. The tour includes a visit to heritage-listed buildings such as the Blacksmiths Shop, First Aid Room, Carbide Lamp Room, and Engine Room.
Fantastic! Our family loved this experience! The mine tour with Nathan was so interesting and even kept the kids (13 & 10) engaged throughout! Being 61m underground is pretty cool (and always 14 degrees- so bring a jacket). The surface museum was also interesting, and the panning was great- the kids really loved finding the gems, the parents enjoyed the gold! Highly recommend!
Nicolle M — Google review
It was a great experience visiting the Central Deborah Gold Mine in Bendigo. It operated from 1939 to 1954 to a depth of 422 metres. It yielded 929 Kg of gold from its mining operations. The best part was going 61m underground with a hard hat ON to see how the gold mine workers worked in those days and how gold was mined from there. The tour guides were quite knowledgeable and kept everyone engaged throughout the tour. The Surface tour is a great way to know more about the gold mine and how things operated back in the days. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Bendigo.

We did the underground mine tour, with Graham, it was great!! He gave us lots of really good info but it was still fun. It was so surprisingly wheelchair accessible! They really had thought of everything we felt really comfortable with everything. All the staff were actually really friendly and helpful, and a good shop!

Absolutely worth a visit to this fab centre, our tour guide (nathan) was superb and we he learnt so much about what life as a miner really was like. Sadly we didn’t come away with any gold nuggets but we did come away with a lot of the educational type and they’re priceless !! We booked the first tour - 10am, then took the ‘talking tram’ into town for lunch. Thoroughly recommend you doing that too if you have time
