This was my first visit to the Lavender Valley Farm. It is so beautiful, peaceful and so lovely out there, the atmosphere was fantastic and the suroundings were so unbelievable. If you ever want to hold an event or function there please do so, you won't be disappointed. They have a fully serviced kitchen and nice sized hall for all functions/events.
S C — Google review
It was a beautiful venue for a family memorial. Well supervised, good parking. Nice to have separated parking for family mourners. Nice sandwiches and bottle of water.
Eleanor M — Google review
Drove all the way out there, hoping to take cute photos then to be turned around as there was a “wedding in progress” nice to know that before we got there then to be turned away. Not posts on Facebook book alerting us that it was on. Not coming back.
Lola W — Google review
Lavender Valley Farm is a delightful place to visit but also to host your special occasions such as weddings etc. The hosts are extremely welcoming and friendly and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The function centre comes with a fully equipped kitchen, plenty of fridge and freezer space for all your catering requirements. The function room can accommodate a small gathering to a fairly large gathering. It has picturesque views out to a beautiful lawn area as well as views over the Lavender and surrounding countryside. Lavender Valley Farm is a hidden little treasure just outside of Geraldton and well worth holding your function there.
Julie R — Google review
Nice food. The kitchen lost our order. When they realised, they apologised and offered free coffee and cake for afterwards. The meals then came quickly and after we enjoyed cake on the house. The coffee was not to our taste. We will be back though!
Joke V — Google review
Attended a great wedding on Saturday 15/12/18 at Lavender Valley Farm, very friendly family run business with great staff, great nibbles and a fantastic meal not to mention nice cold beer and able to sleep in caravans or cars overnight. Great location.

What a lovely place to get off the main road and stay a night... or week and have a rest. Lovely scenery and awesome hosts. The hosts surely know how to entertain their visitors. Went for a lovely walk through the gorge, water, friendly fellow campers, camp fire and great meals at a really good price.
Philip R — Google review
Beautiful location, Scones were delicious, staff chatty, ablutions clean. We stayed later the next morning to have breakfast at their cafe, (opened at 9) but when we went in at 9 were told they weren't serving breakfast as they were expecting a bus load of visitors from a cruise and were too busy, NOT HAPPY JAN!! we could have been nearly half way home if we had left at 7 as planned.
Lynn F — Google review
Really enjoyed our 3 night stay here! Lovely part of the world run by a lovely family who work so hard to make everyone at the campsite feel welcome. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, especially in the evenings around the campfire lit by the hosts. The homemade scones are a must in the cafe!
Eddy B — Google review
Rustic, charming and simple campground approx 4hrs north of Perth. The grounds contain a group of buildings that show how people lived in the 1860s. They are pretty intact and you can visit the homestead which is set up like a museum and contain old antiques and furnishings. My friends found this place because they saw it on some ghost busters website. Unfortunately the homestead was closed to a dust storm and now to an electrical fault. (Yay, no ghost hunting for me). There’s a small cafe that opens 8-2 where you can have scones and Devonshire tea but we passed on the opportunity because they were frozen and warmed up and we preferred freshly baked. Theres a fire pit from 5pm... roast some marshmallows and sit back for a yarn. The camp kitchen is basically a well equipped shed. There’s 1 female shower and 3 toilets. I’m sure there’s the same male facilities. All in all its good and OK for what you pay to stay there.
Nicole C — Google review
A quiet inexpensive little hide away spot to spend a few nights parked in a paddock. Host very friendly. No power. Toilet and shower. Cafe. Historic buildings you can tour at a small fee. Communial fire at Cafe. We did not spend alot of time looking around as it rained for most of the time we were there.
Julie W — Google review
Beautiful place, we just stop by to take some pictures. Wish we had time to try the famous scones. But to tell you the truth, the location is quite far from other places. Probably won’t go there if its not on our way to Kalbarri

We were just roaming around in the town and came to this place and it was worth it. Very nice and beautiful building and you can get loads of information about the place.

Well worth looking at, RSL museum was amazing.
Brendan H — Google review
There are public bathrooms nearby & quite a few caravan parking spots. There are also heaps of sheep "art" along the highway. Genius marketing by the Northampton council. It is worthile taking a walk to grab a pie & coffee, and popping into all of the stores for a look.
Paul H — Google review
Wonderful small town! Worth visit & I enjoyed the heritage trial walk. Must stopover place for the kalbarri visitors.
Visusubramanian B — Google review
Informative, worth visiting if you're new to the Northampton area. Also a GREAT little RSL museum, interesting and compelling. I love the real tank out front. Very neat, clean and well kept grounds and building.

Excellent museum. The volunteers here were very knowledgeable and were a great assistance.
Stuart T — Google review
Great souvenirs inside and old war relics outside
Wil ( — Google review
We have spent three nights in Northampton, visited the visitors centre twice and both times encountered very helpful ladies. The RSL complex is very informative. Informative in main street about the AFL players from this area is interesting. As recommended we went to the motors and machinery display, very worthwhile. Beautully kept gardens throughout the town. The sheep are an attraction. However, the botanic line walk did not deliver. We could see a lot of work had gone into setting up this botanic garden but it's now being choked out with weeds of all types, wild oats, Cape weed, Patterson's Curse, sour sobs, couch grass, all growing through the pathway as well as the gardens. A big disappointment! Would not recommend that walk to anyone.

These are incredibly good-hearted people, taking care of animals (on their own dime) and running amazing tours. Good spot to stop for the night, and for sure do the tour. I encourage you to donate to them, so they can keep rehabilitating these beautiful animals! Really impressed with these people.
Daniel S — Google review
Incredible views and facilities, and owned by some of the loveliest people we've met! Multiple scenic walks, shaded alfresco, massive and clean camp kitchen, clean ablutions. We took multiple walks up one of the mesas/table top hills on the property because we couldn't get enough! There are turkeys and emus, and I swear I heard an ostrich as well. HIGHLY recommend
Katie C — Google review
Amazing campsite! Beny and Jock have done an incredible job carving out this animal sanctuary and creating a really special place to stay and extremely reasonable prices. When we stayed the site was $10 per person per night and there's a kitchen dining area to bring your camp stove, running bore water to wash dishes, a solar shower and flushing toilets. The animal tour was at least an hour and a half and was $15 per person and you got so much info about the animals, fed the birds, emus, ostriches, goats, sheep, pig and kangaroos. An amazing experience that we just happened upon when looking on wiki maps. So glad we stopped here, not to be missed and only an hour north of geraldton and before kilbarri and the hunt lagoon.
Mairi S — Google review
Definitely go there!!! The most beautiful campsite. Really nice owners who not only keep the camping area cared for but also loads of different animals. They do tours as well. Campsite has everything you need, flush toilet, kitchen, shower etc. On top of that they’re only 10$ so make sure to donate.
Ariane L — Google review
Had the best time at the Elbenjo camp site. Massively underpriced for what it is, Benny and Jock have done an amazing job at creating a comfortable and well equipped place to stay and get clean after a long journey. Huge area to camp stocked with all amenities you can imagine, they went over and above with facilities (showers, toilets, indoor cooking spots, oven, microwave, bbq, spit, cooking pit, common areas, private areas, mapped out walks, signs to let you know where you're going, books to read in common areas, soft drinks and snacks for sale very cheaply, as well as private camping spots that would easily be able to hold multiple large groups while still feeling private). Best of all was the animal train tour, was so entertaining for a group for adults and I can imagine children loving it too. Was really cool to get up and close with some lovely animals being rehabilitated, fed some beautiful birds in a well equipped and colourful aviary, many kangaroos, ostriches, emus, pigs, goats, sheep, and many more interesting national and international animals that have been saved by the owners. Our group couldn't believe how cheap it was to stay and were surprised with how great the tour was. Would absolutely recommend for anyone who's looking for a good place to stay.
Indy G — Google review
If you want to experience a farm stay with lots of animals, I recommend this place. The hosts are friendly, and at night, you can see many stars. I highly recommend the animal tour. Tina is absolutely lovely!
윤예영 — Google review
Overall good camping experience. We stayed there 4 nights, lots of open space to find your own nook. Cold showers, toilets and kitchen facilities. We did the farm tour for $12.50 pp which allowed us to get up close to ostriches, emus, kangaroos and many birds, which was great for the kids and photos. $7.50 pp per night for the camping, even for children. 1 hour from Kalbarri which and 30 mins from pink lake.
Travis H — Google review
Large private property/animal sanctuary that allows paid camping for motorhome, camper vans and caravans. Time and Cost: No apparent time limit, $10 per person per night. Access: 5km 2WD dirt road from highway to campground. Facilities: Large flat dirt base with some shade. Facilities include dump point, toilets/showers, non-potable water and bins. Communal fire-pit and shaded seating area also on the grounds. Reasonable, mobile and TV reception. Ambiance: Very quiet but can be windy. Several walking trails on the property. Suited as a multi-night stopover for self-contained vehicles particularly for those interested in animals and wildlife and easy hiking around the property on marked trails.

Pink Lake Lookout

Nature & Parks
Bodies of Water
The lake looks pink at a certain angle. It’s recommended to come when it’s hot and sunny, perhaps between 10-3pm or otherwise you can’t see the pink hues of the lake. We came during start of spring and the place was beautiful. We even spotted a flock of migratory birds. The water is not too cold so feel free to take a soak into the salted lake. Worth a visit and popular with the locals too.
ExDee — Google review
There was many tourists there when we went past. It was a little hard to park with a van. We found a spot away from where there were tourists taking a 1,000 photos in every pose imaginable 🤔🙄. Worth a stop if you are going past. It is an interesting phenomenon.
Tomo T — Google review
This place is a bit over promoted. The colours and patterns of the lake are best viewed from a drone or aeroplane. The lookout area can be busy at times. There are other spots around Hutt Lagoon that are less visited. On a grey day at ground level, the lake can be disappointing.
Michael S — Google review
This lookout was great to observe the pink lake from up close. Its pigmentation was incredible and allowed very pretty photos. There are many different points of that lookout meaning even at a very crowded time you got some personal space to take photos with family. Much recommended!
Juliette S — Google review
Long drive from the airport to this place. About 4hours ride. We overnight at pinnacles desert & star gazing. If a group of friends definitely worth to have such long drive. Not recommended for solo or couple trip as the pink lake not that fantastic, to me is not a must visit attractions by the hours of driving.
Bryan N — Google review
I do recommend that everybody makes the detour to see pink lake. However I do think that the best value from this comes from the air so to properly appreciate the size and colour of it. I think you're better off if you have a drone. That does not mean that the lookout is not worth visiting if you don't. I just don't think you get a proper appreciation for the size and scale of the lakes as well as the colour, as it sits next to the ocean in contrast with the pink and blue colours. The Browne Town.
Stephen B — Google review
Stunning, you won’t believe your eyes. Lots of tourists taking photos. Water is extremely salty but you can walk in / swim if you want. Best time to visit for best colour is when sun is high in the sky - 10am-2pm.
Natalee C — Google review
An excellent spot to have a good look at the Pink Lake and take some good photos. You can even go down the slope and reach the water from there. Although, there are not too many parking spaces there and no public facilities like public toilets.

Nain, Capital of the Autoproclamed Principality of Hutt River

Sights & Landmarks
Points of Interest & Landmarks
Nestled in the heart of Western Australia, Nain is the capital of the self-proclaimed Principality of Hutt River. While it may not be a must-see destination for everyone, if you find yourself nearby, it's worth stopping by for a unique experience. Visitors often have the chance to meet Prince Leonard, who is known for his warm hospitality and captivating stories about his principality's history. His down-to-earth demeanor makes him an approachable figure despite his royal title.
Worth a visit to support great Australians taking a stand against our greedy and wasteful government.
James B — Google review
Unfortunately this place is no longer open for visit! It would have made an amazing tourist attraction but it seems the news owners are wasting that opportunity. There is just a locked gate.
Raphael N — Google review
I don't think it's worth the detour to go and visit this place. However if you are in the neighborhood then yes, have a break there. You will even meet the Prince and he has a lot of stories to tell.

Warribanno Chimney

Mountain peak
Sights & Landmarks
Warribanno Chimney is a historical site dating back to the mid-1800s, once part of a lead mining and smelter operation. Situated atop a hill, it offers unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside. Accessible via gravel roads, the area also features remnants of other buildings. While reaching the chimney may require driving off-road and a short walk, visitors can enjoy a peaceful landscape with minimal crowds.
A very nice view and landscape without too many people. You may need to drive the off road for accessing this chimney. It takes you couple of walks to the top of the hill which cost you less than 30 mins for a round trip.

Z Bend

Lookouts
Z Bend is a stunning feature in the Murchison River Gorge, characterized by its sharp turn and flowing water at the base of large cliffs. The area offers picturesque views with orange-red cliffs contrasting against dark green foliage. A 600-meter track leads to the Z Bend lookout, providing some of the best views in Kalbarri National Park with minimal walking effort. Visitors can enjoy picnic tables and BBQ grills at this scenic spot.
Z-bend is a stunning part of the Kalbarri gorge. You can admire the view from the lookout, just a short walk from the car park, or hike down into the gorge for a closer look. If you’re feeling extra-adventurous, you can even hike all the way around to Fourways then come back to the car park that way. Bring plenty of water as there is no drinkable water available here.
Jeff R — Google review
Amazing trail — absolutely loved it! The whole walk was heaps of fun with all the ups and downs, ladders, and rocks to climb over. The river at the end was such a great reward. Beautiful view, and my boys had a blast skimming stones. Perfect distance too — not too long, not too short. 100% worth doing!
Sinta P — Google review
Doing the Z bend River Trail I would give it more than five stars if I could. This is arguably my favourite hike in Western Australia along with bald head in Albany. You don't have to do the full river trail you can just walk down to the lookout which is a nice and easy walk and accessible to most people. If you do decide to go down to the river trail, it is not a difficult walk but it does involve some climbing of ladders and hopping down and up rocks but it is not a long walk at all and most of the time you have shade because you are in the gorges amongst the rocks. Beautiful views combined with a little bit of a more adventurous walk and this is a highlight in Kalbarri National Park for me. The Browne Town.
Stephen B — Google review
Fantastic views and beautiful wildflowers to see along the way! Make sure to visit in September if you want to see the floral display!
Lauren — Google review
Though challenging in parts, Z Bend River Trail will reward you with stunning river views, rock features and wild flowers. Be prepared for ladders and steep trails. Thoroughly recommend!
Natalee C — Google review
Considered a class 4 hike, felt more like a 3 but with some more challenging rock climbing and some ladders. Not hard in terms of length or elevation so young kids (comfortable with hiking) can do this easily. Go early! You'll almost get the place to yourself.
Bruno L — Google review
A slightly longer walk and more steps than the nature's window but the view is still worth it.
Mark C — Google review
Natural beauty. Kalbarri national park is beautiful and Z bend was breathtaking. Watch out for flies. I had to finally wear a fly net , to stop it from going inside my nose.

Eagle Gorge Lookout

Mentioned on
5 lists
Scenic spot

Geologic Formations
Eagle Gorge Lookout is a stunning spot along the Kalbarri Coastal Cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the coastline. Visitors can explore nearby attractions such as Red Bluff, Mushroom Rock, and Natural Bridge, with opportunities for whale watching and wildflower sightings. The area features walking trails like the Mushroom Rock Trail and the Bigurda Trail. While access to the beach involves a moderately challenging climb, it offers a picturesque setting for photography enthusiasts.
Perfect for an easy walk. The cliffs are amazing, and the rock formations are so unique and cool.
Alice A — Google review
This is one of the stops that we liked along the Kalbarri Coast. You'll find a carpark along with trail sign information, including the 8 km (one-way) Bigurda track south to Natural Bridge. There are excellent views of the red cliffs meeting the sea at Eagle Gorge. You'll also find a short walk down to the beach below for those interested. It is a nice stop to make for sea views and a bit of whale watching. We saw several humpbacks breaching in the distance. Have a pair of binoculars handy.
Brad — Google review
This is one of several overlooks of the Indian Ocean in this stretch of Kalbarri National Park just south of town. The turnoff is well-marked on the highway, and a paved road leads to parking in just a few minutes. The path to the overlook is easy, flat, and short, and the view is awesome! Colorful red limestone cliffs undulate in and out, jutting out into the water at regular intervals. The view isn’t remarkably different from some of the others nearby, so if you are pressed for time, one might be enough. If you possibly can, do walk the first 10 minutes of the Rainbow Valley trail, starting at the south trailhead. That offers you fascinating, closeup and personal views rock formations like those you see from Eagle Gorge Lookout.
Marsha R — Google review
One of the various vantage spots that may be found throughout Kalbarri. It is definitely worth going there to check out the beach and the class 3 route that leads down to it. The beach is stunning and should definitely be visited by everyone who has an interest in photography.
Aqib K — Google review
Wow! A short stroll down the cliff to the beach (250m). You can get close to the rocks and the waves here down to where the Gorge ends.
Bruno L — Google review
GEORGOUS lookout, you can also take a small path down to go to the beach. There was no one there. It was amazing

Hamelin Pool Telegraph Station

Historical landmark
Nature & Parks
Geologic Formations
Hamelin Pool Telegraph Station is a historic site located within the Shark Bay World Heritage Area in Western Australia. It was originally established as a telegraph station in the late 1800s as part of the Overland Telegraph Line, which connected Western Australia with the rest of the country. The telegraph station played a crucial role in communication during that era. In addition to its historical significance, Hamelin Pool is also known for its unique marine stromatolites. These ancient microbial structures, which resemble small rock-like formations, are some of the oldest forms of life on Earth and offer valuable insights into the planet's early history. Visitors to Hamelin Pool can learn about both the history of telecommunications in Australia and the fascinating biology of stromatolites, making it a popular stop for tourists exploring the Shark Bay region.

Had a quick stop at the campgrounds for a toilet break but it wasn't available for general public. Had a look while in the car and it looked interesting. not sure if you're able to go in though. Like the other places, plenty of flies buzzing about.
Benedict U — Google review
Really informative tour about the stromatolites and telegraph station. Only $5 per adult and kids were free. Tour was 45mins and even our kids (who are under 10) sat through the videos and talk. They even remembered some of the facts which showed they were engaged. Recommend everyone to do tour and help support this working piece of history.

This small post would be the perfect settings for movies set in the past century. It clearly shows how life must have been tough in the past. Most buildings seem to have been left untouched. At the centre of the village there is the telegraph station, but other buildings are interesting as well. It is a perfect spot to park before going to the stromatolites. But note that it can be very hot during the summer!

The original telegraph station established in the late 1800's when communication around the state was via morse code. Now not part of the modern communications network and located within the Hamelin Pool caravan park, it has been converted to a museum (open and tour at 3pm most days). The museum focus is the telegraphy, the stromatolites nearby and the general exploration history of this part of WA. Well worth a visit especially if staying in the caravan park.

When we arrived, the museum was closed so we were unable to go inside so we could only just look around outside. I still enjoyed the look around, just missed the inside this time.

Cool telegraph station built in 1884. There's a cute little caravan park right there, you'll pass through on your way to the stromatolites, but not really worth making a special trip.

Fantastic campsite with real Australian and world history. First there were Stromatolites, then Shell rock and with humans came the telegraph.

drove thru to take some pics and stop for a cuppa and possibly book for our next adventure. Lady came out following our cars and rudley asked what we were doing there. Explained to her why we came thru. Even though we were driving slow, slow enough for her to walk alongside our car, told us to stop making dust! We proceeded to leave and will waste our money elsewhere. Group of 8!

Hamelin Pool Telegraph Station

Lookouts
Please visit this amazing lookout, it is awesome looking down where you can see the sea creatures from afar, it’s a good place to take the whole family and even bring some binoculars. We saw turtles, rays and even some sharks, sadly no dugongs! It’s an easy walk with beautiful view of the surrounds. It’s a slightly corrugated road in, a 2WD could make it in, just take it easy. “Jonique Life” If you find value in our reviews please consider following our social media outlets on Facebook and Instagram as we highlight magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.

If you park up at the bottom car park, you can walk down the the water and snorkel. Although there’s not too much corals around, we past some tourists who said they had seen turtles here! Even without a snorkel, it’s a great beach drive and really cool spot to see how tall the cliffs that Eagle Bluff Lookout sit on actually are!

Visitied in early July 2018, the road was being re constructed, so a bit of a rough ride for a short bit. The views from the constructed walkway were worth the drive!

Great stop for a good view from above, only 500m from main road. We saw a few small sharks, sting wrays, jumping fish. Dolphins in the distance.

It is a sand island with an area of about 1000 square metres (11000 ft2), and an elevation of eight metres (26 ft). The island's vegetation is a closed heath, of which the dominant plant species is Nitraria billardierei (nitre bush). Other plant species include Limonium salicorniaceum; Sporobulus virginicus; species of Calandrinia, Pelargonium, Poa and Selenothamnus; and an introduced species of Chenopodium. silver gulls nest on the island, and a small number of pied cormorants roost there.
