Nature & Parks
Noosa National Park is a breathtaking gem located along Queensland's picturesque coastline, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in its natural beauty. Spanning over 4,000 hectares, this expansive park features an array of stunning landscapes, including dramatic coastal cliffs, serene beaches, and vibrant rainforests. Whether you're keen on hiking the mountain summit trails or exploring the scenic coastal paths, Noosa National Park offers ample opportunities for wildlife viewing and swimming.
Absolute gem to visit. Choose a nice day and allow 2 to 3 hours if just taking a casual walk, longer if you plan to take a swim. We happened to catch the sunset on the way back, which made it extra special. This is a must visit location. The walk is gentle and mostly on a paved surface. Steps are generally only when descending to the water. There are toilets at the start and about midway to Hell's Gate. Enjoy your trip!
Luis H — Google review
Multiple great walks to choose from. The coastal walk was absolutely beautiful with great views along the whole way, gorgeous look outs and access to sandy beaches. Great photo opportunities. Also lots of spots either on the beach or at some of the lookouts to have lunch. Also a lovely area at the entrance for a little picnic. Really enjoyed it!
Brooke S — Google review
Pictures don’t do it justice so stunning! We were able to see dolphins and whales along our walk. The fairy pools are farther down than expected be careful but it’s the views. We wended up not swimming in them because we for distracted by a pod of dolphins swimming by. Tea tree bay was a nice swim. A little chilly still since we are coming out a winter into spring (September). But we still went out!
Lydia T — Google review
Noosa National Park is an absolute gem and easily one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited in Australia. I spent half a day exploring and could have stayed much longer — the combination of coastal scenery, wildlife, and peaceful walking trails makes it a truly special spot. The Coastal Track is the highlight and a must-do. It’s well maintained and runs along the edge of the cliffs, offering incredible ocean views the entire way. I started from the main entrance near Noosa Heads and walked all the way to Hell’s Gates. Along the way, there are several lookout points — Tea Tree Bay, Dolphin Point, and Granite Bay were my favorites. Each offers a slightly different perspective of the coastline, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot dolphins or turtles in the water below. Wildlife spotting was another highlight. I actually saw a koala resting high up in a eucalyptus tree near Tea Tree Bay — such a cool moment! The park is also full of birds, and you’ll often hear them before you see them. If you plan to visit, I’d recommend going early in the morning. The car park near the main entrance fills up quickly, especially on weekends, and it can get busy later in the day. Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and maybe a snack or two if you’re walking the full track. There are also a few beaches along the way if you want to stop for a swim or just relax by the water. Overall, Noosa National Park is a perfect blend of natural beauty, wildlife, and tranquility. Whether you’re into hiking, photography, or just want a peaceful escape surrounded by nature, this place has it all. I can’t wait to go back — it’s the kind of spot that stays with you long after you leave.
Mandeep K — Google review
Noosa National Park is absolutely stunning — easily one of the best coastal walks in the State. The track follows the cliffs with sweeping ocean views, turquoise coves, and shady sections through eucalyptus forest. The walk to Hell’s Gates is especially beautiful, and there are plenty of spots to stop for photos or a quiet break. Perfect mix of accessibility and wild natural beauty.
R S — Google review
The coastal walk at Noosa National Park is absolutely stunning. The scenery changes constantly along the way — from sparkling beaches to rugged cliffs and lush bushland — so there’s always something beautiful to look at. It’s definitely doable, though you’ll want to be at least a little bit fit, especially if you’re planning to walk the whole track. I’d highly recommend doing the full coastal walk if you have the time. It’s roughly 10 km return (give or take depending on where you start), and every step is worth it. A truly spectacular experience. 🌊🌿✨
Charmaine R — Google review
I would have rated this place 5 stars for the scenery and the very well maintained toilets and walking tracks, but it’s INCREDIBLY, AWFULLY CROWDED!! I’ve seen less people in shopping centres than here. And the parking situation SUCKS!!!!! We were lucky enough to get a park in a side street nearby-ish, but I saw a lot of vehicles do the round trip between the roundabout on Hastings Street and the NP car park, with no success. On the coastal track there were heaps of people, and a fair few runners dodging the walkers, which can be annoying for both. We also walked the Tanglewood track, and that was a completely different experience. Very few people, and some nice rainforest sections. Unfortunately the signage left a lot to be desired and twice we ended up on a maintenance track by mistake. If you’re in Noosa, it’s worth a look but I would not recommend making a special trip here unless you’re into riding a longboard. The surf was pretty good, if you’re willing to get up early or walk a mile or two to get to the beach.
Erasmus M — Google review
An incredible place with stunning coastal walks and picturesque beaches like Fairy Pools. The trails are well-maintained, offering amazing views. Just be aware that finding parking can be a real challenge, so plan to arrive very early or consider walking from Hastings Street to avoid the hassle. It's a must-visit, but the parking situation requires some strategic thinking!

Great shopping street one block off the beach. There are two free parking lots and one paid parking lot two blocks off the beach.

Many nice and beautiful shops adorning the streets left and right. Plenty of parking areas. There's a number of eateries like restaurant and food court along the street. Plenty of seats too. Nice ambience and clean area. The shops sell stuff a bit on the high side probably because a lot of landed properties surrounding the area. Good vibes though.

Outdoor Activities
Noosa Heads Main Beach is a popular destination in the northern town of Noosa, offering picturesque views and a range of activities for visitors. The beach faces north, making it ideal for families and surf enthusiasts looking to take lessons in its gentle waves. It's conveniently located near Hastings Street, known for its vibrant bars and boutiques. Visitors can enjoy swimming, strolling along the shore, and watching stunning sunsets over the clear and calm waters.
The beach is beautiful and it's a great spot for surfing. The sand here is very soft. Although if it's holiday or weekend, there can be loads of people and it might be difficult to find a parking spot. You'd better plan the trip in advance.
Chang G — Google review
Noosa Main Beach is stunning—clear water, perfect waves, and surprisingly uncrowded. Ideal for a swim or surf, with a great selection of cafes and restaurants just steps away. One of the best spots on the coast for a relaxed day out.
Anthony C — Google review
Great place to visit. This is an excellent beach with beautiful restaurants, bakeries, cafes, souvenir shops and more. There are clean wash room facilities on the beach area. Parking can be difficult/very limited on busy days.
Malay A — Google review
Great boardwalk and great views! Best on a weekday, weekends might be too busy I think 🤔. Pretty hard to get a park anywhere here though, so you might have to walk to it from afar like I had to.
Wolfie M — Google review
Stunning sunrise views, very crowded and feels lively. Very clean facilities and includes water refills which are frequently cleaned which was nice. One of, if not the best beaches on the coast.
Yiyang Y — Google review
Noosa Heads Main Beach is the kind of beach that makes you believe you’ve accidentally wandered onto a postcard. Crystal-clear water, golden sand, and waves gentle enough that even the ocean seems to be in a good mood. It’s perfect for literally everything — tanning, swimming, floating around pretending you’re in a movie, or just sitting there staring at the view like it’s therapy (because honestly, it is). The vibe is relaxed, the people are lovely, and the whole place just radiates holiday energy. Whether you’re grabbing a bite on Hastings Street between swims or watching the sun melt into the water, Main Beach always hits. It’s clean, beautiful, and somehow makes you forget every problem you’ve ever had. The only downside? The sheer volume of people. At peak times it feels like half of Australia had the exact same idea — but honestly, when a beach is this stunning, can you even blame them? If paradise had a postcode, it would be Noosa. 🌞🏖️
Tahlia R — Google review
Beautiful, Relaxing, and Perfect for Everyone! Noosa Main Beach is one of the best beaches I’ve ever been to. The water is calm and crystal clear—perfect for swimming, even for kids. The sand is soft and clean, and the beach is very well-maintained. I also loved how close it is to Hastings Street, with so many cafes, restaurants, and shops just a short walk away. It can get a bit crowded during peak times, and parking is limited, so come early if you can. But overall, it’s a stunning spot to relax, swim, surf, or just enjoy the sunshine. Highly recommended if you’re visiting the Sunshine Coast!

Eumundi Markets, a vibrant open-air market, has been operating twice weekly since 1979. Every Wednesday and Saturday morning, the town comes alive with local artists, food producers, and live performers showcasing their talents under the heritage-listed fig trees. The market offers a wide array of goods including handcrafted furniture, artworks, fashion, jewelry, fresh produce, and gourmet treats. During school holidays, there are special activities for children such as face painting and balloon artists.
Loved this place! We came on a rainy Wednesday, but it was buzzing! The market is known for handmade items yet we found that there is a nice selection of food stalls (including vegan options) too. Everything we ate here was delicious. We stayed for two hours and could definitely have spent more time exploring. Make sure to check out the set up on both sides of the road. We had some delightful conversations with stall holders and my little ones even received treats from a fairy who was going around.

Best market I've been to. Just so much stuff, something for everyone. Bought beard balm, jewellery, food, ice cream, candles... If you're staying near Noosa you need to check this out!
Frank M — Google review
Love, love, love this market and it met my expectations and more. It's filled with produce showcasing local talent. A great place to pick up unique pieces you won't find anywhere else. You can easily spend the whole morning here, wondering through the many stalls, live music playing and plenty of choices to eat. Parking is easy and reasonably priced at just over $9. One of my favourite stalls was the stone mason. Beautiful garden ornaments at very reasonable prices. Photos of these and a few other favourites.
Christina M — Google review
Such a great market; the vibes and people are amazing, so friendly, with so much variety. And a market that is open on a Wednesday is pretty cool. It's our 2nd time here and we will be returning again it's over a 3 hour drive but it's such a great day out with the family.
Phoenix L — Google review
Eumundi Markets offer a vibrant experience with a fantastic array of food, local produce, arts, and crafts. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, making it perfect for a day out. A must-visit for anyone looking for unique finds and tasty bites!
Curtis D — Google review
The Eumundi Markets were fantastic — such a vibrant atmosphere with an amazing variety of stalls. Everything was clean, well organised, and so enjoyable to wander through. From handmade goods to fresh food and unique local finds, there’s something for everyone. A perfect way to spend a morning, and absolutely worth the visit. 🌿🛍️✨
Charmaine R — Google review
Loved going to the market on Wednesday. There was everything there from food to clothing, to jewelry and other amazing souvenirs. The environment was lovely and could have spent so much longer there but I don't think my bank account would allow it 😅. All of the stalls I went to accepted card but I did carry some cash with me. Loved the experience and definitely recommend a visit 💕

We’ve been visitors to Kenilworth for many years and love our stops at the dairy 🏆 Offering a variety of local and regional produce from a fantastic range of dairy products, sauces, spices, wines and crafts There’s no on-street parking with visitors having to use nearby on and off street arrangements. However, while in the area, it’s easy enough to park and browse everything the small township has to offer ❤️ Featuring a wonderful range of cheeses, fresh dairy milk, ice cream and moose - don’t forget to enjoy a delicious toasted sandwich and hot coffee in the outdoor garden area

Friendly environment with great selection of product for takeaway or even lovely garden setting for coffee and muffins. Young professional and very helpful staff. Congratulations team Poppa.

We recently attended Kenilworth Dairy and were extremely impressed by the wide range of products on offer. They had an excellent selection of cheeses, milks, yogurts, mousses, and various other dairy items. The prices for all the products were very reasonable. We purchased a packet of assorted hard cheeses, and every one of them has been absolutely delicious. The mousse was incredibly light and fluffy, easily one of the best I’ve ever tried. Their milk is low in sugar and has a clean, fresh taste. We’ll definitely be returning to Kenilworth Dairy on any future trips to the Kenilworth area.
Michael D — Google review
You'll find a wide selection of dairy products here, like cheeses, milk, ice cream and so much more. For first-time visitors, I strongly suggest trying the cheese sampling box-it comes with nine different cheeses, a jam, and a packet of crackers.
Sherry199671 — Google review
Absolutely disgusting chocolate mousse sold in Coles, which found its way straight to my bin after two spoons. Can't believe you would taste this before commercialising it and decide "Yes, we have a winner!". Unless you just didn't or it was your first ever mousse and you don't know how it's supposed to taste or look like. There isn't even a hint of chocolate in this, it's just a sugar mousse, if you can call this a mousse with this slimy texture. It's extremely rare for me to go into the effort of rating a supermarket product but in this case I felt I had to try and discourage other Australians from buying this. I wish I had seen the reviews here before I did. Maybe keep it to cheeses.
Sebastien M — Google review
Wow and wow,$10 for a bacon, egg, cheese roll, hash brown and cup of coffee. It's not a small roll either, freshly cooked and filling.....exceptional value.

Kenilworth Dairies was our first port of call on our AmazingCo mystery picnic. We stopped at 4 Mary Valley mystery places to collect yummy goods for a picnic in a secret location. I have to say that the goodies we picked up from Kenilworth Dairies were extra scrummy and helped make today a great adventure and excellent value. It was a great present idea from our daughter.
Murray T — Google review
Purchased the chocolate mousse from Coles and it was inedible. It had over 10 days before expiry but was seeping water, had weird gelatinous lumps and tastes fermented. I have tried to contact them but no response.

Carlo Sand Blow is a stunning 15-hectare sandy area with breathtaking views of Tin Can Bay, the colored sands, and Double Island Point. It's just a short 5-minute walk from the carpark at the end of Cooloola Drive through dense bushland. For an extraordinary experience, visit at sunrise or sunset for a spectacular view of Queensland's coastline. The sand blow offers impressive cliffside views and ever-changing colors and patterns in the sand.
Never seen sand dune type things in Queensland. This was such a beautiful spot. The walk up to it felt like a mild hike 😅but it was worth it. Keep in mind if you’re going up for sunset to bring mosquito repellent because we got absolutely munched on. Worth it tho! 🌟🌟

Great view and short walk from parking space. There 2 scenic lookout. Have to walk down towards the beach, but theres no connection to the beach.

Always face place of mine to visit. It is close to a km walk from the car park to the blow hole. Make sure you take the time and effort to get to the edge of the cliff over looking the ocean, it is a little tough if you have issues walking as very sandy and need some strength to get back up. Billion dollar views await !
Ivanka M — Google review
Its huge and its beautiful. Amazing place for the sunset. Just 10 minutes walk from the car park. Close to Rainbow Beach. I would recommend everyone to Take water bottle and a big beach towel or picnic mat to sit and watch the sunset. We went there on a weekday so it wasnt that crowdy, it could be really crowdy in the weekends as it is very beautiful place. 👍
Subash K — Google review
Such a wonderful experience, and a great find when travelling in this area. Quite an unusual area, but a great place for sand boarding, or even just rolling down the sand dune. Beautiful sea views at the coastal side with paragliding and the opportunity for whale watching, alongside beautiful green landscapes at the other. The sand blow is about a 5 minute walk from the car park, and definitely a must when in the area!

Amazing. Love this location at sunset, and it can get quite busy here with people coming to have a drink and watch the sun set! Fun to boogie board down the sand dunes and wander around, see the water and beach below. It's a short walk from the carpark through the bush (300ish metres or so, maybe?) with some stairs along the way. Love this spot!

Opt for the VIP Club Car experience for a luxurious ride with comfortable seating, complimentary drinks, and delectable cheese platters. Loved the steam train ride. Anamore a great little stop to turn the train around. We did the pet carriage our boy was very comfortable and there was a bowl for water for him if needed. The guard chatted for awhile to make sure we were happy with the ride. The staff are great both on the train and at the station lovely little Cafe and shop/museum. Had a great time

Sensational experience on this steam engine. Customer service from all staff was outstanding. The views from the carriage were fabulous. Stops at Amamoor and Dagun station were great thanks to those communities providing stalls at the stations. Well done to all the volunteers who contributed to make our trip memorable.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We loved it — even more than we expected! We took my mum from England along with my two kids (11 and 13), and it was so nice to see them genuinely engaged in everything our guide, Ryan, shared. He was young, enthusiastic, and clearly passionate about steam trains and railways — it was wonderful to see that kind of excitement! The scenery was stunning, and the stops along the way were great. The cheese and wine tasting was a lovely touch too. We had such a fantastic day — highly recommend a trip on the Rattler! ❤️
Lisa S — Google review
We did the ‘Wizard’ experience on Saturday night. If I would change anything it would be to experience the steam train during the daytime. There was not a lot of experiences regarding it being a Wizard experience, that in hindsight made the night trip worth doing. The journey was great as was sunset. After that there was nothing to see. Seeing the turntable for the train to turn around was great.

What a great experience! The trip was relaxing, informative and enjoyable. The high tea on offer was enjoyable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The cafe was a great start for brekky before the journey, the museum and the shop offered some insight into the history of rail.

🇦🇺Aussie Traveller we went on the Mary Valley Rattler today out of Gympie. The old Steam Train and carriages have been immaculately restored. The staff and Conductors are all Volunteers which is a great credit to all involved. Well worth the trip, it took about 1 hour each way. When we got to Amamoor they had a little market, music and a Cafe. We had a great day.
Geraldine B — Google review
We recently stayed in the Gympie Hinterland and chose to do the Mary Valley Rattler Silver Bullet High Tea Experience as a family. We received a warm welcome and briefing at the Ticket Office and browsed the museum whilst waiting to board. The carriage itself was well-restored with comfortable padded seating to enjoy our journey. Our high tea was lovely, admittedly our teens did not enjoy the savoury foods, however us adults made up for it, and there was plenty to fill our bellies. The trip was pleasant and leisurely as we clattered along, enjoying the country landscape and deep insights from our guide John. Dagan contained a Cheese & Wine Tasting (which we could not stomach after our high tea), a street library, wood mill, and nature walk. On our return trip we visited the drivers cabin and received our custom chocolate to have with our bottomless tea / coffee service. Overall a lovely experience.
Danni T — Google review
Great experience all round. Great food and coffee at Cafe, so if you have an early start, just have bfast there. Service is fast and top. Train experience was lovely with each carriage having it's own staff to advise of the history. Great day. Thanks to all the volunteers that makes this possible.

Beautiful team of employees and volunteers—everyone was so kind and clearly cared about the animals. We grabbed breakfast at the café after our wonderful experience with the dolphins. The coffee was lovely, and the food was great—simple, tasty, and just what we needed. Everything felt well thought out and respectful, from how the dolphins are treated to how the whole place is run. The dolphin experience itself was incredibly ethical—no swimming, no petting, just a genuine, respectful interaction that puts the animals’ well-being first. Proud to support a small business doing things the right way.

Fantastic morning learning & feeding the local dolphin population. Staff presentation was very informative, even the kids loved it. Cafe was closed on a monday morning so cant comment, but the menu does look good. Special shoutout to Peter, loved the pink bunny ears mate!

Didn't eat at the restaurant, but the dolphins feeding was great. The presentation starts at 7.00am with a brief information session, then the feed starts at 8am. Dont 🐝 too worried if you're running late. The feeding is very orderly with no need to rush or push to the front. They also rotate the front viewing so everyone can get a chance to see. You get one fish for $15, and it lasts maybe 2 minutes in the water with the dolphins, no petting allowed. Definitely better experience with wild animals than viewing in a zoo.

I was in absolute heaven being here last weekend. I loved it so much I returned the very next day. All volunteers were absolutely lovely and friendly ( including the 2 gentlemen at the front gate, to the lady with the long blonde hair who was taking the orders in the canteen, to Annette & Roger and every other volunteer on both of the days ) . We ordered brekkie on our first day and the vegetarian wrap and coffees were so nice too - very impressive. These volunteers all showed such a huge respect for the dolphins too and also ensure that they remain safe in their own environment and ……. they were so organised too. They were even better than the Brisbane Entertainment Centre as I was there on the Tuesday before and it was a mess !! Considering they are all volunteering too - it’s so impressive to see. :-) On the second day at Barnacles, the dolphins were very playful and on both days, they had also brought gifts on their rostrums, it was just adorable. I would highly recommend going there and feeding the dolphins too, it’s really worth your time and money.

One of my favourite places on earth... so special to he able to feed the wild dolphins, the volunteers are welcoming and just want you to experience the beauty of these dolphins 🐬 and in top of that the cafe serves the best food. Get there early so you do miss the Dolphins arriving
G T — Google review
Quite a busy cafe during the dolphin feeding experience, so worthwhile getting your order in early, otherwise it can take some time to get served. Food portions looked sizeable, and the coffee was pretty reasonable too. Live music was playing out the front of the venue at around 8AM which was a nice addition.
Kerbray — Google review
Had a wonderful time at Barnacles with the family. Feeding the dolphins was a lovely experience for my little one, and for the adults too. The feeding sessions are well organised by the amazing team of volunteers, who deeply care about the animals and deliver a valuable message to visitors about conservation and respect for dolphins and wildlife in general. Peter is fantastic (he told us to say that lol); but seriously, he and all the volunteers are wonderful. The cafe provides nice coffee and breakfast, and pets are welcome which is a huge bonus for us. 100% recommended.
Melissa T — Google review
School holidays so it was very busy, if you have never seen a dolphin then it would be worthwhile. You can get close up, volunteers are very good and helpful. It’s a private business so all proceeds go to the business which is interesting given it’s all run by volunteers.

This time last week we were sitting on the verandah enjoying a beautifully presented lunch. The friendly staff, the ambience and great service means we will be back. The young man (with the cap) didn’t need to work hard to convince us to do ‘dessert to go’ and again, they were generous and tasty. We could not resist an array of fudges either! Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

What a beautiful place! We couldn’t believe how stunning both the property and the accommodation were. We stayed in one of the Workers Cottages and it was amazing – beautifully done, with the fireplace making it extra special. The staff did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable, which really stood out. Such a hidden gem in Queensland that we didn’t even know existed! We loved the wine tasting, and dinner at the Irish Tavern & Restaurant was perfect. We’ll definitely be back!

I captured my first wedding here back in March. I have to be honest, it's not a place I'd ever heard about until the couple changed their plans to move their wedding to Dusty Hill. It was absolutely stunning. It's like a small town with everything that it offers and one of the better venues I've ever captured. It offers so much variety across the property, is immaculately kept and staff are very friendly and attentive. I've since booked a couple more dates for next year at Dusty and already cannot wait to get back there.

I would love to have stayed here as it's a beautiful setting on picturesque grounds, however, it was fully booked. I enjoyed the tastings, my favourite being the sparkling Shiraz that was the best I've ever tasted. The gift shop is stocked with all my favourite things and run efficiently by a lovely young boy. I'll be back to stay for sure. The Irish pub is also a must stop for great food, drinks, atmosphere and friendly staff.

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch whilst in the area & saw that the tavern had good reviews. Amazing pub in the middle of nowhere !! We both had the 300gm rump with mushroom sauce. We have sampled steak all over the world ( and most places in SE Qld ) - but this was simply the best steak EVER ! Planning our next trip up that way & taking all our friends as well. Now all they need is a designated camping area for self contained caravans/motorhomes & it would be absolutely perfect. Beautiful outlook / dog friendly is a bonus.

Such a great place. A hidden gem and well worth a couple nights stay. We ended up bringing a 1 year old and the wet every accomodating but we will definitely be returning without children as well!

What a magical place! Who would’ve thought a short drive could uncover such a gem? We stayed in the Stable and dined at the Irish tavern & Restaurant —both were fantastic experiences. Can’t wait to come back!

If your looking for a relaxing afternoon while camping next door at hidden gold camp then this is the place meals and staff are awesome weather you want to sit inside or out in their clean relaxing garden next to the lake you won't be disappointed. Then as you go back to camp grab yourself something from their little shop of local jams, pickels, fudge or a bottle of wine, or box like I did. Will definitely be back and recommending this place along our travels

Lake Wabby, the deepest lake on Fraser Island, is a small spring-fed attraction popular for swimming and sandboarding adventures. The steep sandhills slide directly into the deep lake, offering an exhilarating experience. The walk from the lookout to the lake may be challenging but definitely worth it. Catfish in the lake are unbothered by human presence and offer a wonderful sight while swimming. Visitors should remain vigilant for dingoes in the area.
This lake might be a little muddy and the walk is farther than some of the others, but it was my favorite lake! The water is very hot, and the area is stunning with the sand dunes next to the rainforrest. There are fish you can watch and the smaller ones will nibble a little on you. I could've spent a whole day here. Be warned, it is a lot deeper than the other lakes.
Peter F — Google review
Having been to every other spot on the island we left Lake Wabby til last and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. It’s certainly no Lake McKenzie. Mostly sand there’s only a small green body of water to swim in. You have to walk to the look out and then branch off to the left for a 1km trek down to the lake area. For me, it wasn’t worth the hassle but each to their own. Perfect example of shifting sands on a sand island taking over nature. There is a decent toilet block there should the need arise.
SARGES’ F — Google review
If there was ever an entrance to heaven (or it ever existed), it would probably look like it! An underrated location, mixed with lake on the one side, and the ocean on the other. Yes, you can't see much under the water, but it's still possible to swim in it (just watch it, it gets deeper quite fast when you swim towards its centre. Just watch the fish :)
Saar C — Google review
The lake was okay. We thought it was average compared to some of the other lakes on the island. There were lots of fish in the water and it looked like a great spot to swim. The short hike to the lake from the beach was a nice little walk.
Lavish L — Google review
Lake Abby is a great place to go for a swim. It takes a 45 minute walk through the forest to get there but it’s absolutely worth it. My favorite part wasn’t even the lake itself but the sand dunes surrounding it. Absolutely amazing!
Rosalie M — Google review
Lake Wabby is not bad, if you have no places to go, then check out this lake. The lake is quite small but has a lot of fishes in it, I counted 5 big catfish and numerous other fishes. Just remember there is a little bit rotten smell likely from the dead leafs and trees, so get used to it.
William S — Google review
Was a nice walk up even on a hot day. There has been sand blown away around the steps. No issues with sticks or debri on the path

Another nice spot for a dip on Fraser. There is a decent walk involved to get there but well worth it. Keep an eye out for catfish and turtles.

Great area for camping and visiting. Plenty of history to see and read about. Walk along the river was great, even in the rain. Road in was pretty dirty, but don't let that stop you.

Great spot, in depths of shade so solar suffered a bit. Not that clear where to put RV but generous space when found a site. Wildlife pretty forward despite lack of dingos so do lock up bins and food

At this place you should go for the walk along the Wanggoolba Creek. Thias creek is flow on very fine white sand. The thing is sometimes you do not see the water as it is invisible clear. We did not use the camping area which is also closed by.

This is the most disgusting campground. Filthy bathrooms, broken showers, smelt so bad you had to hold your hand over your nose to enter. I wouldn't use the toilets they are so terrible. Showers took the coins, no water came out, hardware hanging off the wall. It was like a scene out of Jurassic Park. The campground itself is unkempt. Dirty bins and dirty 'camp kitchen'.

Lake McKenzie, also known as Boorangoora, is a popular tourist destination and the most famous inland freshwater lake on Fraser Island. Its pristine white silica sand and turquoise water make it a must-see attraction. The lake is a perched lake, containing only rainwater with no groundwater inflow or outflow to the ocean. Visitors can enjoy picnicking on its white sand beaches and swimming in its crystal-clear waters that maintain a temperature of about 25 degrees throughout the year.
I love this spot! Best attraction on the island. Purest white sand and crystal blue fresh water. Nice and shallow until the drop off which you can easily see by the darker blue water. Theres limited parking so the earlier you get there the better. It’s secluded and quiet unless it happens to be school holidays 😂 There is an amenities block for those in need as well in the car park area.
SARGES’ F — Google review
Lake McKenzie: A Fraser Island Gem You Can't Miss! If you're planning a trip to K'gari (Fraser Island), Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora) is an absolute must-see. This iconic freshwater lake lives up to every bit of its hype, offering an experience that's nothing short of breathtaking. The first thing that strikes you is the crystal-clear water. It's so incredibly pure, with a stunning blue hue that transitions to brilliant turquoise as you wade in. Composed entirely of rainwater, the lake's sandy bed and lack of marine life contribute to its remarkable clarity, making it perfect for swimming and simply marveling at its beauty. Getting there is an adventure in itself. The 4WD driveway to Lake McKenzie is a highlight for any off-road enthusiast. Navigating the sandy tracks through the island's interior adds to the excitement and truly makes you feel like you're earning that first glimpse of paradise. It's a fantastic experience for drivers and passengers alike, offering a taste of K'gari's unique terrain. Once you arrive, you'll find pristine white silica sand, perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun. Whether you're taking a refreshing dip, picnicking on the shore, or simply enjoying the serene atmosphere, Lake McKenzie offers an unforgettable natural escape.

Best place we visited on our day trip to K'gari. Beautiful scenery and swimming in the lake is lovely.

Lake McKenzie on K'gari (Fraser Island) is a stunning perched lake with crystal-clear turquoise water and soft, white silica sand that feels like velvet underfoot. Perfect for swimming, the shallow waters are safe for all ages, though it can get deep quickly. The surrounding lush forest adds to the serene, postcard-worthy vibe. It’s a must-visit, but arrive early to avoid crowds, as it’s a popular spot. A short 4WD trip or hike from Kingfisher Bay, it’s an unforgettable natural wonder
Paz A — Google review
we were on k'gari and you just can't miss Lake Mckenzie (Boorangoora). it is so beautyfull. so blue and you can see the bottem everywhere. so if you are there, just go to Lake Mckenzie (Boorangoora). :)
Jfjfhfjf — Google review
Lake McKenzie makes it probably the most visited natural site on the island. It is a ‘perched’ lake, which means it contains only rainwater, no groundwater, is not fed by streams and does not flow to the ocean. The sand and organic matter at the base of the lake form an impervious layer, preventing rainwater from draining away. The sand here is pure, white silica and is not only beautiful to look at but feels beautifully soft to walk on. The sand acts as a filter, giving the water its clarity and helping to make the water so pure it can support very little life. The blues and greens of the lake are endlessly fascinating and it’s well worth getting up early to look across it in the soft light of dawn. I have been here many times and it has always been an incredible place to be, but this particular visit was different as its the very first time I've really seen the true colours after receiving my colour correction glasses (I'm a colour-blind)... what did this mean? Hard to describe but it's like visiting for the first time again... Simply mind-blowing! #kgari #Queensland #Australia #frasercoast #igersfraserisland #kgaridraserisland

I went for a relaxing hike and ended up here. Decided to go for a swim, but didn't have a towel, how could you. Sad face. PS. The lake was VERY wet.
Jacko W — Google review
Such an amazing place. The water is crystal clear and so clean. It’s like swimming in a pool but without the chemicals in it. You’re not allowed to eat on the beaches but there are designated fenced picnic areas at the parking area. Also toilets which is wheelchair accessible. Only downside is that it’s very busy with tour buses and the road to get there is not in a good condition. Put this on your to do list!

This is a really awesome little spot if you love wildlife, conservation or zoos. Plenty to see here...Kangaroos, Dingos, Birds, Reptiles. A lot of the animals are freely roaming around so you get the chance to hand feed some of the critters. Some really talkative birds too which was a lot of fun. I got more out of a Parrot than I have out of my girlfriend in 5 years. You can also buy reptiles and all the gear from here, they have some quite rare species too if it's a hobby of yours. Overall the place isn't one of the most picturesque sanctuaries I've been to however you can tell that the animals are well looked after. The staff are also super friendly and talkative being more than happy to give you more info. You can tell they love what they do. Entry fee is great too at $15 an adult. We spent a couple of hours here and was well worth the detour and time
Sam S — Google review
Fantastic sanctuary that is incredibly cheap and a much quieter, more interactive experience compared to a lot of other zoos/sanctuaries. Great value for money and volunteers are very friendly and are happy to answer questions and pass on knowledge. Animals include kangaroos and wallabies, ducks, peacocks free roaming and bettongs, turtles, emus and dingoes in enclosures. A range of birds in aviaries and beautiful snakes and lizards in the reptile room. Animals are well cared for and volunteers love what they do. Emus are gentle, kangaroos are very friendly, reptiles are easy to handle. Definitely recommend the animal experiences - a dingo encounter is $15 and snake is $10 which is actually great value for money, a fair and heavily discounted rate compared to other overpriced venues. At 2pm the public can help feed the outer sanctuary, which includes getting up close with the most gentle and wonderfully natured emus! Kangaroo food available for purchase at the reception for $3 which is always an enjoyable experience, and they love a nice scratch behind the ear! If you love animals, I highly recommend this facility. I spent hours here by myself and loved every minute of it. Thank you so much to the volunteers for being so wonderful and informative and making this a fantastic experience overall! We appreciate your efforts and hard work in everything that you guys do!

Love this spot! You can tell that the animals are well taken care of & we’re happy to be part of it. A spot to pet kangaroos, admire beautiful birds and there’s even a reptile corner. Not a huge place but it’s more than enough to satisfy our inner kid.

great for the grandkids who got to feed kangaroos. it isn't a huge centre but had a variety of animals. staff were friendly and helpful. I highly recommend a visit!

A extremely affordable, smaller and quiet animal sanctuary that allows you to get up close and personal with the animals. The kids spent ages feeding the kangaroos and wallabies, yet weren’t brave enough to join in the snake or dingo experiences. Big picnic area out the front and a smaller area inside to enjoy drinks and ice-creams. We’ll definitely bring the next set of visiting relatives here.

Urangan Pier, located in Queensland's Fraser Coast, is a historic and iconic attraction. Built in 1999 to commemorate Captain Matthew Flinders' first contact with Fraser Island, the pier was once used for cargo transfer but is now popular for fishing and offering scenic views. Stretching almost one kilometer into the ocean, it provides spectacular vistas of Hervey Bay and opportunities to spot marine life such as dolphins, stingrays, and schools of fish.
Wonderful wooden pier, real hot spot for fishing especially in the late afternoon. Has rod holsters and filleting station. Amazing place to come and watch the sunset. Couple of hundred metres walk to the end. Amazing to come here and see the difference in tide times. On low tide half the pier is above sandbank which is also really nice to walk and look for hermit crabs. Quite windy though so bring a jumper if you are coming for sunset

Aquatic center
Wetside Water Park is an oceanfront aquatic center located in Hervey Bay, Queensland. It offers a variety of water attractions including waterslides, a splash pad, and a wave machine. The park opened in 2009 and has since become a popular spot for families to cool off during the hot summer days. This zero-depth water park features interactive play equipment, tipping buckets, and a giant water screen, providing both entertainment and education on water sustainability.
Great place to stop and cool off. Parking can be tricky if it’s busy. The main splash park is free but you can pay a low cost for the other slides and timed ninja park. These are paid for for a certain number of turns. Lots of tables and chairs available, some shaded. Lockers available near the toilets - BYO padlock or get one from the kiosk. Showers also in the cubicle blocks. 2 cafes right next to the park so easy to get food & beverages and then take them to eat. The kids had a blast.
Erin B — Google review
Seriously, they need to limit the number of people at the water park during school breaks. We got there right when it opened at 10, and it was fine for like ten minutes, but by 10:30, it was total chaos. It's an accident just waiting to happen. Kids were pushing and shoving on the kids' slides, kids were crying everywhere, and parents were just glued to their phones. The line for the big slides was all the way down the stairs. My kid was done after fifteen minutes. He was like, "Can we leave? I don't feel safe."

While it might be small now, I'm sure they will continue to improve and expand in the future. If you appreciate the beauty and diversity of birds, Flying High Bird Park is a must-see destination.

It's a good, not so little, bird park! They have the bird food to feed the birds if you'd like, otherwise they are very friendly and fly over to you, depending what you have on you may be more interesting (my earrings were favourites). They also have the walk go through to some farm animals, which is neat! It is a bird park, so I think mice/rats in the bird cages are common, tidy in the front reception area. Friendly staff serving!

Was a really good experience. Ended up spending a couple of hours at the park. Can feed the animals. Birds will fly down to you, absolutely recommend getting mammal food can feed all sorts deer, miniature horse, camels. 10/10 Experience if your wanting to be up close with animals.
Clinton — Google review
We loved our visit to flying high bird park, there was so many different beautiful birds to see. Enjoyed taking our time in each area, feeding the birds and taking photos. As the park grows and has larger numbers of visitors, I imagine it would be beneficial to have roaming staff to keep a closer watch on visitors and the beautiful animals. However I can understand this would add to running costs. We were ready for our tasty toasties and coffee at the cafe, which is a great spot to stop and relax after all that walking! Looking forward to our next visit

We visited Flying High on a day trip to Childers and were very impressed. The staff are great while the park itself is a hidden delight, tucked away behind the industrial shed main entrance. Upon entry into the park, you embark on an interactive journey along the lush, leafy path that leads you from beginning to end. Along the way, you'll enter various sections that, naturally, house different types of birds, as well as llamas (alpacas?), farm animals, emus and more. Pay a couple of dollars per bag and you can take food along to give to the residents. Well worth the effort as it goes a long way and sends the animals racing in your direction. The staff were very humble when praised and mentioned that the park is a work in progress and has more to achieve. If that is the case, I look forward to visiting in months or years to come as, even now, the experience was 100% positive. I truly wish them all the best for the future.

Reading the reviews wasn't good but we still went. It's well worth it the stop. Birds really friendly and are looking for a feed. Just buy lots of feed for the animals before going in. Really large range of souvenirs that's on par for pricing around Australia.
Darryl P — Google review
A very reasonably priced attraction with lots to see. The young lady at reception was simply a genuinely happy person who clearly loves her job. The souvenir and gift shop was reasonably priced as was the cafe. We really enjoyed this place and the bird life and animals were beautiful.
David K — Google review
My sister and her family and I and my hubby had a great time visiting together. I especially enjoyed the dinosaur bird snapping the food from my hand. All the birds are just beautiful to see. The seers and buck is a great addition to see also. They were too interested in us unless we had food lol. And the upgrade from we the years is amazing in comparison. My niece And nephew thought the pin f was the best but and wanted to take him home. Tantrum slightly avoided as I said I’d buy them a milkshake if they shut up. Great day out

Discover the world-famous Bundaberg Rum Distillery, where educational guided tours and tastings offer a deep dive into the production process of Australian rum. While in Bundaberg, visitors can also explore the Mon Repos turtle rookery, enjoy diving or snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, and go whale watching. The area's beautiful beaches provide a perfect setting to relax after exploring all that Bundaberg has to offer.
Very interesting and well worth the visit, children are also welcome on the hour tour. The lady was very knowledgeable with information about the distillery Disappointed with the food as there was only a sausage in a roll with onions $6.95 & feta cheese & spinach puffs but you had to go looking for the filling as it was dry and all pastry.
Raelene P — Google review
Loved hearing how world wide, award winning Bundaberg Rum is made from womb to tomb. How molasses is extracted from sugar cane and the product not used is turned back to the cane farmers to use as fertilizer for future crops. Very impressive operation which spans a great size and run by only 38 full time employees.
Kathy R — Google review
When you say Bundaberg you automatically think Bundaberg Rum and rightly so. This tour starts with a self guided tour of the Museum showing the history of Bundaberg rum which is very informative and jovial at the same time, and yes the polar bear is there. What follows next is a tour of where they make the rum. Our guides for the day were G and Taylor and they were fantastic, very knowledgeable and also full of “dad” jokes. Note you are not allowed to take cameras, phones, anything electrical whilst on the tour, this is for safety reasons. At the end of the tour you get to have two drinks of any of their range. Don’t worry if you are not normally a rum drinker as they will help you choose an alternative to your normal tipple. It is advised to book ahead as they can sell out. But I really think it is a must do when visiting Bundaberg.
Casandra T — Google review
Not being Rum drinkers we thought we’d take a tour and see if we could be swayed. The museum was really informative and an interesting part of Qld history. Our tour guide Jayden was a superstar! Funny (with all the Dad jokes) but full of information, fun and very upbeat. Great tour, great guide, great value with a couple of taste testers at the end. Were we converted?
Thomoszontour — Google review
It was an amazing experience, the staff were amazing, shoutout to our tour guide Deb for making it an unforgettable experience, I’d give them a 100 star rating if I could, I will definitely be going back to do it again and will be definitely going back and doing the blend your own rum experience

Amazing drink prices! Very very fair tour cost of $30 and you get 2 drinks at the end. So only really looking at like $5 for the entire tour. The most expensive spirit there only sets you back $12 and a mango cocktail sushi was $15. If you like Bundy it is a must to go.
Jacob A — Google review
Great place to go & learn about the history aswell as taste test all the softdrinks. Kids really enjoyed it too.
Kell D — Google review
My friend and I joined the tour on a Friday and were pleasantly surprised by how fun it was. Amber and Sandy were both so cool and funny and they skillfully weaved in education with humour to keep our group laughing. Although we're both non-rum drinkers, we really enjoyed our tasting experience afterwards and spent even more time checking out the merchandise - they really have souvenirs for every type of person!

Bundaberg Botanic Gardens

Botanical garden
Nature & Parks
Bundaberg Botanic Gardens, established in 1988 on a 27-hectare land, is a picturesque subtropical botanical garden featuring a serene lake, charming chapel, and scenic boardwalks. The gardens are adorned with over 10,000 shrubs and trees, offering visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature. Additionally, the site houses the renowned Bert Hinkler Hall of Aviation and Bert Hinkler's former residence known as Mon Repos.
A lovely little area to walk either solo, group, or with family/kids. A relatively easy walk. Also boasts a train you can catch around the parkland and I believe it is ticketed. The aviation museum is also within the same grounds, and there is a great playground area and seating available near the entrance of the gardens.
Riss R — Google review
The Bundaberg Botanic Gardens are a fantastic choice for a family day out. The gardens themselves offer a peaceful and safe environment for children to explore diverse plant life, spot colorful birds, and enjoy the open spaces perfect for running around. But that's not all! There's also a dedicated playground within the gardens, providing additional fun and entertainment for the kids. This makes it a truly comprehensive and enjoyable experience for families with children of all ages.🙂🙂

What a lovely little piece of paradise located away from the hustle and bustle. Probably the only downside are the bin chickens and the bird crap that goes with it. But it is a very nice garden, well maintained. It has a cafe I believe but we never ventured there. And a little steam train that shows you around the gardens.
Shane H — Google review
Looking for something to do when visiting Bundaberg, this is definitely the place to come to. It is free to enter and there is plenty of parking. There are three museums on site, Hinkler Hall of Aviation which also includes Hinkler House, Fairymead House Sugar History Museum and the Bundaberg & District Historical Museum. The best deal is to buy a museum pass so you get to see all three at a reduced price. There is a great cafe on site for when you are hungry called Cafe 1928. A miniature sugar train that takes you around the park. There is also the Chinese Gardens and the Japanese Gardens which are both beautiful. The park is full of wildlife and birds so do take in the beauty. There is so much to do, you can easily spend the whole day here and is very easy to walk around.

Loved the gardens. On a Sunday, Took train trip around the grounds.. $7 per adult. $3 per child. little man loved it. Great volunteers, very friendly and helpful. So many animals to see and feed the ducks. Loved the eels, water dragons, ducks, pelicans, turtles. Well layed out grounds. Plenty of parking, nice big playground in a fenced area. Clean toilets. Easy caravan parking on young street. Nice busy Cafe, quick service, reasonable prices and nice variety on the menu. So many grassed areas with shade for a picnic Love to visit again when next through Bundaberg

1770 Reef - Great Barrier Reef Eco Tours offers an incredible day trip to the Great Barrier Reef. The crew is highly recommended for their expertise in providing a fantastic experience, with activities like snorkeling and scuba diving allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the reef. The friendly and knowledgeable staff ensure a memorable and enjoyable time, while the opportunity to see numerous turtles adds to the excitement.
Really enjoyed the trip out to Lady Musgrave Island and reef tour. The staff were extremely friendly and caring. The tour of the Island was fantastic and very unique in its development as a coral island. The vegetation was beautiful. The food was provided all day in plentiful amounts. Appreciated the cup a soup for warmth and the scones were definitely a winner. Reef and sea creatures were in abundance and thoroughly enjoyed the snorkel. The icing on the cake was to view a whale close up on the return. Would recommend this tour.

It was certainly worth getting up early for this trip to Lady Musgrave Island. The crew were very professional and competent. We had lunch morning tea and afternoon tea – all was Complimentary and delicious. There was also the opportunity to purchase other drinks and snacks. It was interesting to walk around the island and learn a bit about the history of the southern barrier reef. Then to be guided through the lagoon to see the most impressive turtles. On our way back, the captain made a slight detour as he had been looking out for whales - We had a wonderful display from a mother and calf. I would highly recommend this trip.
Kate H — Google review
The stars are for this magnificent island and lagoon. We were a little disappointed by the coral: most of it is brown, which doesn't mean it's dead, but rather due to algae. It doesn't look like coral with all the imaginable colors you can see elsewhere on the Great Barrier Reef so if you want to see coral go to the north. The worst part is that I've never paid for a wetsuit on a tour. Yes, it's written in the email, but to me, it's a joke. The price here is the same as for all the tours in GBR, with an extra charge for snorkeling. The wetsuit costs $10 per person, which isn't much, but it's a bit surprising it’s alaways included in the price…
Rose G — Google review
Our family of four (kids are 12 and 7 year old boys) had an amazing time. The ride out was rough, and we were glad we took our motion sickness medication. However, it was worth it to be able to explore the island and snorkel the reef. The boat itself is comfortable and accommodating. The staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful. We saw tons of beautiful fish, many sea turtles, an octopus, and stingrays, and we were even treated to some whale watching on the smooth ride back!

Had a lovely day trip to Lady Musgrove island today. Safety procedures were well explained and demonstrated. The skipper a glimpse of a breaching whale. He diverted our course so that we could see mother and calf playing. We must have sat by them for 10 minutes. What great diversion!
Ben S — Google review
Had a terrific day out. The journey out to Lady Musgrave was a little rough for some passengers but the crew took it in their stride and made sure everyone was OK, giving out cups of ice and tending to those who needed a bit more help. Our guide on the island was very knowledgeable and after a walk around we headed to the glass bottom boat for a different view of the reef. Even spotted a few turtles! After a tasty lunch of wraps and fruit and plenty of it, we were decked out for snorkelling in the lovely clear but cold waters. Again the crew were terrific and made sure everyone was comfortable and had the right gear. The cherry on top was a tail slapping, fin flipping display by a mumma whale and her calf. So wonderful to see and experience. The whole day was awesome with amazing crew and the food was delicious and plenty of it. Luckily the trip home was far more comfortable and a lot gentler on the stomach! 10/10 to the crew. Top day out.

Popular waterfront park with play equipment & a spray ground for kids, plus BBQ grills.
Lovely Parkland. There are plenty of BBQs, tables, and seats. The watermark is very popular with the children. We saw plenty of dolphins and a dugong. Well maintained with amenity blocks clean. The Parkland is flat with some ramps so it is disabled friendly.

East Shores is an absolute gem for families! The whole area is beautifully maintained and perfect for a day out with the kids. The water features are a huge hit and great for keeping little ones entertained. The kids’ playground is super clean and safe, and there’s heaps of space to run around. Toilets are spotless, which is a big plus, and there are plenty of water fountains to stay hydrated. For those into fitness, there’s a well-equipped outdoor exercise area, and everything is thoughtfully laid out. There are loads of BBQs and bins, which makes it easy to set up for lunch or dinner without any hassle. Parking has never been an issue either – there’s always plenty of space. Best of all, it never feels too crowded, even on weekends. Definitely one of the best family-friendly spots around!

Thoroughly enjoyed our many visits to "East Shores Parkland." Such a beautiful place to walk, relax, play, picnic, exercise, have a meal, cool down in the water playground, sit and people watch, or whatever you wish! Suitable and accessible to all ages and abilities with ample parking at both ends of park. The harbour is stunning at any time, but especially at sunrise and sunset! This would be one of the top attractions in Gladstone, thanks to the "Gladstone Harbour Board" and Regional Council. I highly recommend that you make the effort to come and explore these wonderful Parklands!

I loved today, well worth the visit, plenty of magnificent crocodiles to see. The tour was great, and there's always something new to learn... also liked seeing the alligators, which are so different from crocodiles. Also, I got to hold a little snappy 😉 I would recommend it, and I would go back again. Also brought a book called Kissed by a Crocodile. I believe it will be an amazing book to read. Author John Lever with Jenny Lanyon. Be snappy and get a copy 🐊🐊🐊 Also don't forget to try the food off the Crocodile menu. ☺️

In sun-baked Koorana, where shadows creep, A reptile world, in slumber deep. We came to see, with bated breath, The ancient jaws, that deal out death. The tour was awesome, Kia so grand, He knew the secrets of the land. He spoke of power, swift and stark, The mighty crocs, in light and dark. We stood so close, a thrill untold, To scales of green, so rough and old. An eye blinked slow, a primal gaze, Lost in a prehistoric haze. A tail submerged, a silent glide, With nothing left for them to hide. The jaws agape, a fearsome sight, Bathed in the golden, afternoon light. And then, a treat, a soft surprise, A baby croc, with tiny eyes. Held in my hands, so small and new, A little dragon, shining through. An incredible, up-close display, A memory that will never fade away. The crocodile farm, a wild embrace, A truly wondrous, sacred place.

Koorawatha Crocodile Farm is a great family outing. The farm is about 30 minutes out of Rockhampton with onsight parking. They open at 10am and it is recommended that you purchase tickets for the tour online before you go. The tour begins with an informative talk and video that explains the history of the farm and information on crocodiles. There are huge skins mounted on the ceiling of the cafe with an extensive display, crocodile goods toys and Tshirts etc for sale. Safety is also explained before you enter the farm with staff ever watchful and reminding those who get too close to the fence. The tour goes for about one and half hours with croc feeding and an informative commentary. You are able to see the crocs in the various pens up close. Staff were happy to answer questions from both adults and children. The tour ended with the owner holding a 50cm young croc ( with mouth taped closed for safety) talking about his life and the breeding cycle. You could hold the small croc and have photos taken which the kids really enjoyed. The farm also has a Cafe where you can try various croc meat meals. Great day out.

Totally impressed by Kia, how he has delivered a customer service and a viewing session. Needless to say they have a couple alligators. The alligators farm less dangerous rather than salt sea water crocodiles. However, still very hazardous. Strongly suggest to try their croc meat dishes.

Rockhampton Botanic Gardens is a serene and enduring botanical park located just south of town. It offers a variety of attractions including a zoo, a Japanese garden, and a picturesque lake surrounded by tropical and subtropical rainforest. The well-kept zoo houses koalas, wombats, dingoes, monkeys, and features a walk-through aviary. Visitors can also explore the formal Japanese garden for tranquility or enjoy the diverse plant collections throughout the gardens.
Myself, 2 daughters, son-inlaw and my 2 grandchildren (2&3) chose Rockhampton as our meeting place for Christmas this year and we took a trip to the Botanical Gardens. We all loved the ZOO section which was an absolute credit to those who run the gardens. We pretty much spent the whole day there. There are so many spots for families to wander around with wide open spaces for the toddlers, and a great playground for the kids a lake where there are ducks and turtles to amuse the children, the display of different gardens such as the beautiful Japanese garden, and the indoor nursery with ferns, elks, stags and numerous other plant species. It's just a wonderful area of Rocky that caters to a wide variety of ages. And a fantastic Cafe to also cater to the public of varying ages. Was a fantastic day.

Went for a walk after seeing the zoo. Lovely gardens (we didn’t see every section but enjoyed what we saw). The Japanese section was lovely. Next time I’d bring a picnic - plenty of spaces to unwind and there was a nice looking kids playground with undercover BBQ’s.

Well worth taking a stroll through the many different areas these gardens have to offer. Parking can be difficult to find, but if you drive down towards the lagoon it's not so busy there. Japanese Gardens were under maintenance, so didn't get to enjoy them. Combine these Botanical Gardens with the zoo next-door and you can have a relaxing enjoyable day!
Kelvin J — Google review
Wow the playground is incredible! It gets raked and cleaned every day so it was tidy when we arrived in the morning! All gardens were spectacular, very clean tidy and green! Lots of love and work goes into the garden and you can tell!
Emily P — Google review
Visited May 2025 The gardens are quite large. Being May there weren't many flowers in bloom making it a little visually boring . The plants around the floral clock needed a trim because you couldn't see it. I love Japanese gardens but I found this one without the wow factor. The banyan figs around the tea rooms provide lots of shade and are beautiful. Food is quite good from the tea rooms I had zucchini fritters with a small salad and my husband had the eggs benedict on a bed of bacon which he said was delicious. The blue eye honeyeaters and rainbow lorikeets jump on the tables wanting to be fed, you can almost touch them. There is a childrens playground not far from tea rooms but not close enough to keep an eye on your kids. Down at Murrays Lagoon many water birds along the banks and looking in the water from the wetland lookout are so many river turtles popping up looking for a feed. I would have liked to see information boards explaining the different gardens. The gardens are 33hectares which I googled is around 46 soccer fields (for those who need a comparison, as I did!) so plenty of room for riding a bike or a long walk. I'd like to think it is more appealing in spring. But none the less a good walk and a tea rooms a lovely place for a cuppa. Overall underwhelming.

Everything from the start to the end was AMAZING! Well and truely worth it. We enjoyed our trip so much we have re-booked for this weekend. We are also bringing a group over in October. The Keppel dive center was great too. Very informative.

Keppel Konnections were fabulous when helping my elderly parents on and off the boat and up to the resort last week. They both have mobility issues and it was an absolute breeze getting to and from the island. And the island stay at Hideaway was fantastic yet again! We will be back! Thanks guys!

Great ferry service, love they tractor the gear to the resort, saving carrying it across the sand. And, if there are whales around, they will stop (if no one has a plane to catch) and give you a minute to watch. Used many times. I rate.

Absolutely recommend Keppel konnection. We had the $80 each ticket which included lunch and drink and the value for money is outstanding. Now I know why it's called great Keppel island.

Keppel konnections is a great ferry service! We purchased the ride and lunch option at Hideaway and it was worth every cent! It was awesome to see a female captain too! Keppel Island is a must do and see!

Amazing staff that made things so easy and fast navigating so many people, kids and even doggos! Everyone was so polite and helpful to customers. The boat ride was clean and comfy and we were lucky enough to spot dolphins and sea turtles on our trip to the island. Would highly recommend!

We had an amazing day 28th September whale watching. There were 9 in our group and we were all thrilled with the experience. Whale watching has been on my bucket list for many years. Our crew went above and beyond to make it a memorable time. The whales were so close that we could almost touch them, seriously! A mum and her calf entertained us for ages. My heart is full and a dream come true. Thankyou. We will definitely be back.

Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary

Wildlife park
Zoos & Aquariums
Encounters & photos with rehabilitated koalas, kangaroos, monkeys & several reptile species.
My husband and I had an awesome time at Cooberrie Park Wildlife Sanctuary last week. We went so I could go to the koala holding experience but really enjoyed the wildlife show and looking at all the other animals aswell. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. I had the best experience holding one of the koalas, it was so worth the trip. The sanctuary and living conditions for the animals is fantastic, one of the cleanest parks I’ve seen.

We had such a wonderful day and enjoyed every minute of it! The whole experience exceeded our expectations, from the knowledgeable and friendly staff to the incredibly well kept grounds and animal enclosures. We started out with a game of mini golf, which is the best one we've ever seen, so much fun. Then we hand fed SO many different animals whilst exploring the park. The highlight was the 1pm show and getting to hold parrots, snakes, lizards etc. as well as it being very informative. Highly recommend visiting here and we can't wait to go back!

This place was amazing!!! The experience was extremely authentic! My sister and I were the only one inside, no one was shouting, no kids running against animals with no regards as it happens in other places. We could enjoy time with the kangaroos, feed them and take beautiful pictures. The sanctuary has many other species that are amazing. The staff is very kind. I highly recommend to visit this place.

Amazing experience! Owners are very genial and friendly. Came here on a whim and was a great 2hrs even for adults. Free range animals everywhere. We went to the animal show at 1 and got to hold several animals. Very polite cockatiels too!

This place was fun. So many different animals and they're very friendly. They're also hungry! I wish I would have brought my kids. Went with a large group of adults and everyone had a great time.

What a fun little park to go to. Great animal interaction and for an additional fee you can do one on one with other animals. Great little day out to be around wildlife you can touch.

Fantastic work that they do. Had a wonderful two hours walking around, feeding kangaroos, peacock and ducks. Load of animals Koalas, crocs, emus etc. Free to roam around and kangaroos very gentle. Go early weekdays to avoid the crowds. Managed to see a baby koala and a few joey's in the pouch.

Capricorn Caves

Mentioned on

Nature & Wildlife Areas
Capricorn Caves is a popular tourist spot known for its complex of subterranean limestone caverns, including a natural cathedral. Located 24km north of Rockhampton near the Caves township, these ancient caves offer a rare acoustic and visual treat. Visitors can explore the honeycombed limestone ridge and marvel at cave coral, stalactites, and dangling fig-tree roots.
Well worth the stop. We booked the kids adventure tour as a last minute thing to break up the drive. 100% Worth the stop. Our youngest can be hard to please and complained about a two hour tour. He actually loved every minute of it and would have loved to have keep on touring the caves. Our guide was so lovely and friendly.

We had an absolutely fantastic day here. The caves were beautiful and easy to traverse with wooden stairs and suspended walkways over the most difficult areas. The acoustics in the Cathedral Cave were totally awesome. Candice, our tour guide, was very informative & enthusiastic with a dry sense of humour. She made the tour thoroughly enjoyable. All the staff were very helpful & friendly. The Capricorn Caves are easy to access, just a short drive from Rockhampton. The café & gift shop were great as were the fossil displays. We only booked the short tour but will definitely be coming back to do the longer tour next time. Highly recommended.

Guided by Maisy our little three-pack had a great two-hour walk-climb-crawl tour of the caves. Straight down in the mud from the go with a snake sighting not long after (during a crawl, just for that extra bit of fun). Through and through the highlight of my three week vacation in the Cairns/Brisbane area.

What a great experience. Our guide Flynn was spot on with his guiding and passion for his horticultural knowledge. Another one of those great "don't drive past" experiences. The fact that it's all privately owned and run add an extra tick in the box. We need to support these ventures.

The Cathedral Cave tour is always an amazing experience, and I often take visitors on that tour. On this occasion I was fortunate to do the "Whispers of the Caves" night tour... well I'd highly recommend it when they run the night tour again. A unique and impressive adventure that's for sure!

The caves were quite a treat to walk through with its lovely ambient temperature & collection of micro bats. Candice did a great job guiding everyone through as well. It was nice to bring my classical guitar and play in the Cathedral room!

Cathedral tour was amazing! Tour guide was funny and engaging and very knowledgeable of the caves and critters in it! Definitely recommend and if I find myself back in the area will do one of their other tours for sure!
